Very useful for appointments or saying when to meet. Luna: Oh, I could use that. Right now, it's... I'm not sure how to say it. Lucas: Well, first, let's review how to ask the time. Remember: ስንት ሰዓት ነው? Luna: ስንት ሰዓት ነው? That's 'What time is it?' Right? Lucas: Exactly. Now, to say 'half past nine', we say ዘጠኝ ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. ዘጠኝ is nine, ሰዓት is hour, ተኩል means half, and ነው is 'it is'. Luna: ዘጠኝ ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. So that's literally 'nine hour half it is'? Lucas: You got it. Let's try another: 'half past three' is ሦስት ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. Luna: ሦስት ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. Nice. So I just replace the number? Lucas: Exactly. Now let's practice. Luna, what's half past seven? Luna: Uhh... ሰባት ሰዓት ተኩል ነው? Lucas: Perfect! You've got it. Now, let's say it's 9:30 and someone asks you the time. They say ስንት ሰዓት ነው? You answer? Luna: ዘጠኝ ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. Lucas: Excellent. Let's do a quick scene. Imagine you're meeting a friend at 3:30. They ask, ስንት ሰዓት ነው? You say? Luna: ሦስት ሰዓት ተኩል ነው. Lucas: Exactly.
