- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: What's up everyone?
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome in to Duval Daly.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Jack McFall.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_00]: I hope everyone's having a good one.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: As it's victory week, finally again.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: For the first time, what it seems like months, the Jags win, they beat the Raiders and overtime thrower.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think a lot of people may have expected this game to be much more lopsided.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_00]: then ended up being especially after the Raiders got completely embarrassed by the chiefs the last time they played, but it wasn't, and that's fine, you know, a wins a win.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to win regardless, and, you know, all I had to win healthy, you know, when they had bours, when they have, when Julia Myers is playing, you know, Max Crosby's healthy, the Raiders can be a sneaky team, you know,
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: but the jags were able to get it done, you know, that they won going across country too, I might add.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: So, great team win, coming out of the by-strong is so important.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, it was a point of emphasis for the team.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: And even though it wasn't the prettiest win by any means,
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: It counts as in, and the guys are now sitting at 5 and 3 in a good spot with some important tough games coming up in the coming weeks.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk a little deeper into each phase of the ball.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: What they did well, what could have been improved upon, and this much needed win in Vegas.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: Starting off, you know, that this covers all phases, and it's something that's been emphasized and talked about for weeks, even months at this point, and it's the penalties.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: And still too many.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: It was nine for 80 yards in this game, which is
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: actually an improvement compared to the last two, three games, but it's still obviously a problem and it's a detriment to the success of all phases.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's a problem.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: The best example of this yesterday I think was the
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: Back to back penalties on offense on the two catchers by Parker Washington.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_00]: That would have been like 30 total yards.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it can happen and it continues to.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, in fairness to the offense, one of those penalties,
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: actually you might have been both don't comment that might have been both were on Johnny Mont, who was in there because of the injury to hang along and looked completely lost out there.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: Thankfully, Hunter Mont was able to return because Mont is, you know, not very good at anything unfortunately, but
- 2:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, the penalties continue to disturb my dumb and it continues to need to be fixed, continues to need to be an emphasis, and I think it will, but I mean, it's game to a point where it's like, is it going to ever get solved, you know?
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Now, looking at the offense specifically at, you know, if they did good and maybe not so good, starting a little bit did good, was the offensive line.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: After you're giving up 14 sex combined in the last two games,
- 3:08[SPEAKER_00]: Feeling a lot of one against Vegas and kept a relatively clean pocket for the entire game.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was, they love seven pressures on 34 drop-backs, which you'll take any day of the week, especially on against Max Crossby, who can destroy games as we know.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: And they were pretty good in the run game, too, for run blocking.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he'd tamally average through pointy to carry, but he did have some big runs.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's also credit to him, but some of those runs are created by the offensive line getting downhill, getting physical.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: So great for them to bounce back, you know, bounce back performance.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I mean, they needed it after what has happened.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: So good for them.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, looking at some of the negatives, I think, of course, one is that resurrection interception, everything what that play was gross.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know why you don't just run the ball there instead, Cohen calls a passplay that rules the quarterback out to his weekside, his non-throwing arm, on the short side of the field, and, you know, it expects that to work.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's, you know, just a case of, like, overthinking,
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: But obviously, I mean Trevor can't throw that, it was a horrible decision.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: just bad and, and, you know, Diami, you know, no effort to try to catch it.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: It was just a bad sequence.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: And thankfully they bounce back.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: But, yeah, I mean, I mean, getting cute on Playcalls, especially in the lower reds, unlike that, it's so infuriating, you know, just run the ball.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you have Trevor who ran for two yesterday, you could cube sneak with him or, you know, run the ball with him, you have UTN, you have two in who scored, who is very capable.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's easy for me to say I'm not calling the police, but just run the wall, you know.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then the other thing I want to point out that continues to be an issue just like the penalties and a lot of it is because of the penalties, too, is the impossible positions, the offense is putting themselves in on
- 5:17[SPEAKER_00]: specifically early downs but also just every down.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean just in the first half yesterday alone listen to this just in the first half alone the jigs were in a first and 15 a second and 15 a second and 18 two second and 20s and a third and 20.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, not only are those very difficult bounds and distances, of course, but also being in the situation so often, put you at such a disadvantage because, you know, you obviously can't run the ball and then the defense knows that you can't run the ball.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: So they're going to pin their ears back and, you know, either get fresh past wrestlers
- 6:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, if the entire stadium knows that you're in a pass, you know, it likely won't vote well for the offense.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, but I will say I'm in the look sharper in the second half with that, still not great, but it was better than the first half, Parker Washington had a great game at 90 yards.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: He's really become a decent receiver for us.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: And when his numbers call, he seems to make plays and he's had some drops, but he's played pretty well.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: He's been better than Johnny Brown for sure, so shout out to him for that now, looking at the defense, the run defense continues to be, I mean, it's bordering elite weekend a week out.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Jente obviously is a really tough back to get to the ground and that showed and he had his moments with the ball in his hands, but 13 carers were four to two yards, which is only 3.2 a carry.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Now obviously in the passing game it was a different story which I'll get into a little bit in a second year, but
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, that run defense continues to be one of the few parts of this jaguar scene that you can count on to show up weekend and week out.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Which has been dick for the success of the defense obviously.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: And also really quick, you know, at the past rush, they finally got home once and rush was finally.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's about time.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: I was only two sacks of the game, one and a half for Hines Allen, who played a great game.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: But the pressure was there on plenty of drop-backs, and you could tell, you know, felt it 17 total pressures on 39 drop-backs.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: And seven of those coming from Hines Allen,
- 7:48[SPEAKER_00]: Which is obviously good for him.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was the old thing a lot of the game too, so he played a great game And you know, as of the time I'm recording this the jacks haven't made any moves Any trades to improve the pass rush so hopefully if they do You know speak that into existence a little bit, but
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: to their credit.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they played a pretty decent game against the Raiders up front now.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: A negative for the defense was how they handle Brock Bauer was, and that was a big one.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: 12 catches on 13 targets, which is, well, for 127 and three scores.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_00]: How he's a guy that you know is the X-Vector and he's still open every play.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but here we are.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_00]: I think overall it was just back game planning.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's such a game record.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: And when you have a single corner safety linebacker, whatever it is, one on one with him, it's not gonna go well most of the time, wherever.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what the Jags did for most of the game.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, luckily they were able to win because if they didn't, that would be a big,
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: emphasis on the game coming out and it still is but you know luckily they were ever able to come through and win.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: I guess I mean even though one player will straight up beat them by himself but you know whatever and then special teams
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: Break the NFR record, I can't quite have been good from 70 plus, probably would have been good from like 72 plus even, I mean just unreal, such an incredible talent, he went two for two on his other field goals as well, and three for three on extra points.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, shout out to Coach Cohen for coming out publicly and and voicing his confidence and cam, this week going into the game.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, that obviously goes a long way and it showed in this one, you know, having a kid or like that, beyond and be making his kicks is a legitimate weapon.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's part of the offense, really.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I mean, hopefully, you know, there's more situations that end to half or end of games, whatever that you're able to attempt those kicks because they're fun to watch, they're special.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then Reemloser had 200 and 2 yards of kick returns.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Again, it won't make 50 yards, except them up a couple of times, which was very frustrating every single time.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: It was one of those moments that I think as Jaguar fans, we've become way too familiar with, where it feels like the jags are giving the other team an opportunity to either get back in the game or stay in the game or have success, which, you know, you know how that goes, but
- 10:58[SPEAKER_00]: No harm no foul wins the win, I don't want to help on that too much.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, massive win to write the ship going to the second half of the year.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: That game when it arrived at the end, it over time was awesome for Trevor and just the offense.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_00]: It was a big moment to go down and score with the injuries.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you had Austin Trimell and Tim Jones playing receiver in that drive.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: And to go down school or no excuses, it was a breath of fresh air for sure.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I hope everyone appreciates that really because
- 11:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know, very easily we could be looking back to this game right now and say, well, in over time, we didn't win or we didn't score because of injuries, but no excuses and that's how it should be.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's the NFL injuries happen.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_00]: And we did it, you know, that they came in to over time period, confident, ready, aggressive coach cone said that.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's why they took the ball.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: and they did it, so now the jacks I've used in, in Houston, next Sunday, the rest of the South Lost is past Sunday, which loads well for the jacks, and this Texas game, I think in my opinion, is going to have some big implications, you know, the Texans still are going to win some games, obviously, and the jacks need to stay ahead of them, so I think we're
- 12:31[SPEAKER_00]: and circle this game, and it's going to be important as to how the rest of the season goes.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: Scratch's health obviously is in question of taking the hit on Sunday, so we'll see what happens with that as to be progressives.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Very interesting to hear Demick O'Rine's talk about how dirty the hit was after we had the last shirt and how he reacted with that.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: All I'm saying, you know,
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you all so much for tuning in.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy the victory week.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'll talk with some moves before the trade deadline.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I'm keep checking my phone, keep waiting for that.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, go, Jax.
