- 2:33Speaker 3: look who's here. It's our good friend Rich, the realtor
- 2:36Speaker 3: of Meek's realty and today also representing Jute security as well.
- 2:39Speaker 3: How you doing man? He wore two hats today, were
- 2:42Speaker 3: two hats? Yeah, all right, So we think of you Rich,
- 2:46Speaker 3: thus the name Rich the Realtor. But so much more,
- 2:51Speaker 3: so much more, so, much, so much depth when it
- 2:53Speaker 3: comes to Rich the Realtor.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I mean, just check my check with my wife. She'll
- 2:56Speaker 1: tell you.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Yeah, your wifele will say, you're about as deep as
- 3:01Speaker 3: what I am.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 3:03Speaker 3: But we're going to get to realty in real estate
- 3:06Speaker 3: coming up here in a couple of moments, as we
- 3:07Speaker 3: do with you once a month. But I do want
- 3:08Speaker 3: to talk about Jude Security because they were one of
- 3:12Speaker 3: our sponsors of the show and h it's one of
- 3:16Speaker 3: the family that of the Mens group, and you're a
- 3:20Speaker 3: you're a customer of Jute and it's j O O T.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Security to talk briefly about you. Yeah, so Jude, of course,
- 3:26Speaker 1: it's a mutual friend of ours and guy that works
- 3:28Speaker 1: in our office. But I subscribe to that have more,
- 3:33Speaker 1: have for more than I don't know, guess we're two
- 3:36Speaker 1: years or something like that. With that system, it's still
- 3:38Speaker 1: alarm dot Com just has everything protected, has everything available
- 3:42Speaker 1: from front doorbell for us with front doorbell cameras on
- 3:45Speaker 1: the front in the back of the house. We get
- 3:47Speaker 1: alerts just like any other normal system. We get alerts
- 3:50Speaker 1: that you know, any movement, whether that's you can set
- 3:53Speaker 1: that for the interesting part. You can set it for
- 3:56Speaker 1: human animal or UFO. I was gonna say ones are
- 4:01Speaker 1: the most interesting ones. Of course, there are typically you know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: a wasp or something that will set that thing off.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But it is unidentified objects out there.
- 4:10Speaker 3: All this time they've talked about UFOs and military cover
- 4:13Speaker 3: ups and so on. All they had to do was
- 4:15Speaker 3: called Jude Security Adam and they had they had it
- 4:17Speaker 3: figured out a lot of time.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It was already being tracked.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, and the consultation is is free as uh as
- 4:22Speaker 3: always and you can visit the website protected by JUTS
- 4:25Speaker 3: j O O T dot com. All right, let's talk
- 4:28Speaker 3: real estate. Put your rich the realtor hat back on
- 4:31Speaker 3: for a moment, and uh uh, You've got listings rich
- 4:34Speaker 3: all over you know that, all over the valley, Charleston, Charleston,
- 4:37Speaker 3: the Huntington and all points in between. I'm gonna talk
- 4:39Speaker 3: specifically about a few listings you have in Tay's Valley
- 4:41Speaker 3: right now.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got a couple of really nice ones in
- 4:43Speaker 1: in the valley. Both have hurricane zip codes. The first
- 4:47Speaker 1: one I'll mention is just the one that's in our
- 4:49Speaker 1: in the Stonegate subdivision. This is one of the castle
- 4:53Speaker 1: like homes that are from the Old School of Stonegate.
- 4:57Speaker 1: If you don't know where that is, just just off
- 4:59Speaker 1: of the exit the thirty nine. They're headed toward Windfield.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Just yea off the tayste Valley exit pasted Liberty Square.
- 5:06Speaker 1: And you know that's Apple's one beautiful subdivision has a
- 5:10Speaker 1: full acre of land. This house is a little over
- 5:12Speaker 1: eighty five hundred square feet, so it's it is large
- 5:15Speaker 1: and has six bedrooms and five and a half baths,
- 5:19Speaker 1: full basement. Uh. This house has two kitchens in its
- 5:22Speaker 1: surprisingly right, kind of like next to each other, and
- 5:25Speaker 1: the current occupants the sellers thought that was kind of
- 5:28Speaker 1: strange when they first bought it, but they use it
- 5:30Speaker 1: all the time. First kitchen is kind of used as
- 5:33Speaker 1: the prep area when they're entertaining, and they do a
- 5:35Speaker 1: lot of entertainments you can imagine on that size, so
- 5:38Speaker 1: they'll prep a lot of stuff in the one that's
- 5:40Speaker 1: kind of toward the back and then serve out of
- 5:43Speaker 1: the other kitchen. So it's it's worked out very well.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Huge entertainment space out back, three wet bars in the
- 5:50Speaker 1: in the house, throughout the house, and it is gorgeous. Though.
- 5:53Speaker 1: To call your agent if you don't have one, call me.
- 5:57Speaker 1: I'd love to show you that house. Fourteen it's fourteen
- 5:59Speaker 1: stone Gate Drive in Hurricane. It's listed at eight seventy
- 6:03Speaker 1: four to nine.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Okay, all right, what else you got.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I listed one in the Woods and Irons subdivision this
- 6:09Speaker 1: week actually actually last Friday.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Which is one of the I mean, Stone Gates great,
- 6:13Speaker 3: but Woods and Irons is like one of the top
- 6:14Speaker 3: two or three subdivisions a day's glass.
- 6:16Speaker 1: So beautiful, five bedroom, three and a half bath. This
- 6:20Speaker 1: house has fully brand new carpet all upstairs and new
- 6:24Speaker 1: paint throughout. Leslie built home right at three thousand square feet,
- 6:29Speaker 1: has a pool, fenced in yard, has a deck on
- 6:33Speaker 1: the back that's been sheltered in, and new sighting around
- 6:36Speaker 1: that and all that. It's just beautiful out there.
- 6:38Speaker 3: It's and it's a great neighborhood too.
- 6:40Speaker 1: It's fabulous neighborhood and there you know, we obviously we
- 6:43Speaker 1: have mutual friends that live out there and everyone. At
- 6:46Speaker 1: one point, Woods and Irons was the place to be,
- 6:49Speaker 1: and it's still very desirable.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Well, and I think about the way that Tay's Valley
- 6:52Speaker 3: has grown and the way it is continuing to grow now,
- 6:56Speaker 3: is it was the place to be Now there are
- 6:58Speaker 3: several places to be inta value and it's one of
- 7:00Speaker 3: the great things about living there are.
- 7:02Speaker 1: There are several nice neighborhoods there.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And the thing about. We talked about Putnam County too.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It's not I mean we we talk we've talked this
- 7:08Speaker 3: morning primarily about homes and subdivisions. But there's a lot
- 7:11Speaker 3: of of of rural properties available if you want to
- 7:14Speaker 3: if you want to do that to me across the
- 7:16Speaker 3: river over into places like Buffalo and Eleanor and I
- 7:19Speaker 3: know you get stuff over there too. There's plenty of
- 7:20Speaker 3: property over there too, if you if you need a
- 7:22Speaker 3: little bit more room.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're look up for space, And that's probably
- 7:25Speaker 1: the number one requested things these days, particularly buyers who
- 7:28Speaker 1: are new to the market are just coming into West Virginia.
- 7:30Speaker 1: They're looking for they don't really necessarily want to be
- 7:33Speaker 1: in a subdivision. They don't want neighbors right across the
- 7:35Speaker 1: street from them, even they are privacy fences or whatever.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But uh, you know, it is one of the most
- 7:39Speaker 1: sought out uh search criterias, is to give us a
- 7:43Speaker 1: little room. I'd like to have some acreage if we
- 7:46Speaker 1: can get it. And so those are a little more
- 7:48Speaker 1: uh that there are fewer and further between, but and
- 7:51Speaker 1: they're a little more of a fight to get to them.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Lots of people looking for them.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Talking to Rich the realtor of Meeks Realty to Day
- 7:56Speaker 3: Island show on five any Line broad Toomed parted by
- 7:58Speaker 3: Pinnacle Consultants. Pinnaclefre's a four phase assessment for your properties. Inspection,
- 8:02Speaker 3: sampling and analysis, comprehensive reporting, management to planning. Visit Pinnacle
- 8:06Speaker 3: Court dot net. Because what you don't know can't hurt you.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And we're going to talk about this a little bit
- 8:10Speaker 3: later on and I know we're going to get into
- 8:12Speaker 3: it on midday and also on the show tomorrow at
- 8:13Speaker 3: ten am. This morning, there's going to be an economic
- 8:16Speaker 3: development announcement coming out of Putnham County and has to
- 8:19Speaker 3: do with Eleanor and they've kind of embargoed a little bit.
- 8:21Speaker 3: We can't say a whole lot about it right now.
- 8:23Speaker 3: We're covering it and of course we'll have it on
- 8:25Speaker 3: air in a WV Metronews dot com and we're going
- 8:27Speaker 3: to have one of the folks from the company actually
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think it's somebody probably from the marketing department or
- 8:33Speaker 3: the PR firm. It's going to join us on Metro
- 8:35Speaker 3: News Midday during the twelve o'clock hour I think it
- 8:37Speaker 3: is today, and then we'll have them on the local
- 8:39Speaker 3: show tomorrow. But I say that because it's just another
- 8:42Speaker 3: announcement about things coming into Putnham County. This particular one
- 8:46Speaker 3: is in the Eleanor area. And I know not everybody
- 8:48Speaker 3: that's going to work there is going to live in Eleanor.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I get that, but you do have properties and that
- 8:54Speaker 3: it is Eleanor is a cool place.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah. So the thing about Eleanor is that it's always
- 8:58Speaker 1: interesting to be talking the buyers and particularly people who
- 9:01Speaker 1: already lived there of Eleanor is a very desirable area
- 9:05Speaker 1: to be and it's always a little surprising to me.
- 9:07Speaker 1: It's across the river from you know, the highways, a
- 9:10Speaker 1: little fifteen minute track back or whatever to the Gucci
- 9:14Speaker 1: Kroger and all that stuff.
- 9:15Speaker 3: But people the Pradut Kroger, Gucci, Oh the product, yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 3: were the product Kroger. Gucci's the one in South Charles
- 9:21Speaker 3: and South Charles.
- 9:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Well, people who live in the Eleanor and when we
- 9:25Speaker 1: sell them a house there in Eleanor that they love
- 9:27Speaker 1: that little town.
- 9:28Speaker 3: It is the cleanest town and its Virginia's town. When
- 9:30Speaker 3: you pull into town, they have a sign that says
- 9:32Speaker 3: the cleanest town in West Virginia.
- 9:33Speaker 1: It is it's just it's an interesting little town. It's
- 9:35Speaker 1: the one that doesn't deliver the mail. You've got to
- 9:38Speaker 1: go to the post office. But people just they just
- 9:41Speaker 1: love it over there. It's a beautiful area. It is
- 9:43Speaker 1: a beautiful area. I suspect that those home values, well,
- 9:46Speaker 1: the home values, you know, we'll see what happens with that,
- 9:48Speaker 1: but there'll definitely be some desirability with this new announcement
- 9:51Speaker 1: of more and more people coming to Alan.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I mean, it's amazing what's going on of there. Had
- 9:55Speaker 3: the mayor of Hurricane on, I've had him on several times.
- 9:58Speaker 2: You know.
- 9:58Speaker 3: They just announced that huge entertainment complex that they're building
- 10:01Speaker 3: in downtown Hurricane and the other fire.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Going to be the Yeah yeah after Edwards.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Yeah, Mayor Edwards sorry announced yeah yeah he he he yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 2: He wanted me.
- 10:12Speaker 3: He agreed to come on the show on short notice
- 10:14Speaker 3: if I would agree to be the first person to
- 10:16Speaker 3: karaoke there. And as I said on the show last week,
- 10:20Speaker 3: to quote my late father, that boy sings in the
- 10:22Speaker 3: key of L, well it sounds like L. You just
- 10:24Speaker 3: got to say it fast, you know, for maybe maybe
- 10:27Speaker 3: Dad and I thought that was funnier than then than
- 10:28Speaker 3: it really is. But yeah, I did agree to do it. Uh,
- 10:31Speaker 3: and it's not going to be pretty so probably the
- 10:34Speaker 3: probably stay away, probably stay it, probably stay away. But
- 10:38Speaker 3: and we got all the homes that are coming in
- 10:39Speaker 3: there on that property, and you know, the three or
- 10:42Speaker 3: four just went in not far from where I lived,
- 10:44Speaker 3: behind Wendy's and whatever.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And uh, I think they're cutting the ribbon on that.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I mean, and people are already you know,
- 10:50Speaker 3: living there. I mean, there's U hauls coming in. It's
- 10:53Speaker 3: just uh, it's it's a it's a great and people,
- 10:57Speaker 3: you know, complain about traffic. Rich you know, traffic is
- 11:01Speaker 3: a good problem. It's a great problem to have. And
- 11:03Speaker 3: there are people just coming to Putnam County. It's just
- 11:06Speaker 3: like the nineteen nineties. I wasn't there in the nineties,
- 11:08Speaker 3: but that's what they say is there was this big
- 11:10Speaker 3: influx with people in the nineties and it kind of
- 11:12Speaker 3: leveled off a little bit. It's the leveling is done.
- 11:14Speaker 3: They're coming back again.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely. It's definitely drawing some people. And it
- 11:19Speaker 1: is again like the Eleanor folks that want to live there.
- 11:23Speaker 1: And the number one search area for my buyers is
- 11:26Speaker 1: in Putnam County, it just is. I mean, we sell
- 11:28Speaker 1: them all over the state. You know, my board covers
- 11:31Speaker 1: fourteen counties that we that we associate with, but Puttnham
- 11:36Speaker 1: County is the most desirable one.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Now as we gear as we'll let you go here.
- 11:40Speaker 3: But as we get into the to the fall months,
- 11:42Speaker 3: which you know, it was eighty seven degrees when I
- 11:44Speaker 3: left the studio here yesterday doesn't feel like faul but
- 11:46Speaker 3: officially it is fall. October starts tomorrow. What kind of
- 11:49Speaker 3: changes do you see in the in the in the
- 11:51Speaker 3: real estate market to people, you know, more more active
- 11:54Speaker 3: because we want to be in a new home, buy
- 11:56Speaker 3: for the winter or for Christmas or what's the differences
- 11:59Speaker 3: between the different seasons.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say that there's fewer variables driving home
- 12:04Speaker 1: sales during the fall time. But you know, life happens
- 12:07Speaker 1: to people. And I know, for the time that I've
- 12:09Speaker 1: been out into the business, outside of last year, December
- 12:13Speaker 1: was one of my busiest months. I mean, it just
- 12:15Speaker 1: has been for years, and people trying to get in
- 12:17Speaker 1: maybe maybe I don't know if it's about the holiday necessarily,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but maybe by the end of the year they're trying
- 12:22Speaker 1: to button things up and be where they're going to be.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And but you know, life happens to Folks are buying
- 12:26Speaker 1: houses no matter what time of the year it is.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And you know there's schools, you know, school changes aren't
- 12:31Speaker 1: driving that right now, which is the spring selling season
- 12:34Speaker 1: that happens. And but but there's still you know, still
- 12:37Speaker 1: a lot of buying and selling going on. And if
- 12:40Speaker 1: you're not you know that people think when should I
- 12:42Speaker 1: you know, want when should I jump into the market.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I say do it when you're when you're ready to
- 12:47Speaker 1: jump in. You need a house, jump in and you
- 12:50Speaker 1: got them?
- 12:50Speaker 3: Yeah, call us, Yeah, love to help you, give your information.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so I can be reached. I'm rich the realtor,

- 16:03Speaker 3: Car Show coming this Saturday to Charleston, but more than
- 16:06Speaker 3: just a car show. Jerry Boyko is here to talk
- 16:09Speaker 3: about it. Good morning, Sarah, and welcome to the show.
- 16:11Speaker 9: Good morning, Thank you for having me, Thank you for
- 16:13Speaker 9: being here.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Now.
- 16:14Speaker 3: It's going to be at hand that Riverfront Park and
- 16:16Speaker 3: it's sponsored by the West Virginia State Wide Independent Living Council.
- 16:21Speaker 3: Before we get to the car show, let's talk about
- 16:23Speaker 3: because you're the executive director of this organization, talk about
- 16:26Speaker 3: the work that this group does.
- 16:29Speaker 9: Okay, well, our main priority is to in cooperation with
- 16:35Speaker 9: the seniors for independent living in the state. We create
- 16:39Speaker 9: the State Plan for Independent Living, which determines how federal
- 16:44Speaker 9: and state funds are spent on independent living to help
- 16:47Speaker 9: people in West Virginia with disabilities to stay in their
- 16:51Speaker 9: homes in communities.
- 16:53Speaker 3: And I was doing some reading and you know, you
- 16:55Speaker 3: set us up with some information about the organization, I mean,
- 17:00Speaker 3: and it's it's incredible some of the things that you
- 17:02Speaker 3: folks are able to do, as you said, to keep
- 17:04Speaker 3: people in their homes in the residence. Talk about some
- 17:08Speaker 3: of the things that you do.
- 17:10Speaker 9: Well. We have a back to school program we just
- 17:13Speaker 9: started to help kids with disabilities, you know, get back
- 17:17Speaker 9: into school. We have some organizations that help sponsor that
- 17:22Speaker 9: provide some backpacks and you know, items like that for school.
- 17:27Speaker 9: Of course, we do the car show to help raise
- 17:30Speaker 9: money for the CLSP program.
- 17:33Speaker 1: We also.
- 17:36Speaker 9: Administer a program called the ron Yo's Personal Assistance Services Program,
- 17:42Speaker 9: which helps reimburse people with disabilities for costs for their
- 17:48Speaker 9: caregiver so we can help them stay in their homes
- 17:51Speaker 9: as opposed as to going into a nursing home or
- 17:55Speaker 9: other institution.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. That's one of the things that
- 17:57Speaker 3: interested me when I was reading your information about the group,
- 18:00Speaker 3: because you know, sometimes, uh, these things obviously can be
- 18:05Speaker 3: very very expensive. And sometimes people who may have a disability,
- 18:11Speaker 3: and there's several different types of disabilities that you folks
- 18:13Speaker 3: deal with, but they they just need some modifications, they
- 18:17Speaker 3: just need something like that. They and otherwise they're perfectly
- 18:20Speaker 3: you know, content and happy and healthy to be in
- 18:22Speaker 3: their own homes. And it's it's just great work you
- 18:24Speaker 3: folks do there.
- 18:26Speaker 9: Thank you, Thank you.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 9: Sometimes it can be just as small as a rap
- 18:30Speaker 9: added to your home. And in other times someone may
- 18:33Speaker 9: need a full bathroom march so they can you know,
- 18:36Speaker 9: get into their bathroom and take a shower and do
- 18:38Speaker 9: what they need to do.
- 18:39Speaker 3: It's a nine to twenty five a day violand show
- 18:41Speaker 3: and five any line brought you in part by your
- 18:42Speaker 3: hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds, the Selango Law
- 18:45Speaker 3: Light the Night returning to Go Martin Ballpark November twenty
- 18:48Speaker 3: first through January first. Get your tickets in advance by
- 18:51Speaker 3: visiting Dblightthnight dot com. All right, so in order to
- 18:54Speaker 3: pay for these things, you got to have fundraisers and
- 18:56Speaker 3: you gotta have things like that. And so you got
- 18:58Speaker 3: this car show. It's going to be going on Saturday
- 19:00Speaker 3: at Hadad Riverfront Park, and it's more than just more
- 19:03Speaker 3: than just another car car show, because you've got all
- 19:06Speaker 3: kinds of things going on there, Jerry.
- 19:08Speaker 4: We do.
- 19:09Speaker 9: We We are featuring vehicles that have successible modifications that
- 19:15Speaker 9: allow people with disabilities abilities to drive, like hand controls, uh,
- 19:20Speaker 9: lifts and ramps. And we also have a local mobility
- 19:27Speaker 9: company that's going to be there showcasing some of their vehicles.
- 19:30Speaker 9: Total Mobility Services will be there to kind of display
- 19:35Speaker 9: what they have and things that are available. Uh.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And I mean I think this is a it's great
- 19:40Speaker 3: information for people to come out. Plus, I mean, if
- 19:43Speaker 3: you're you're a car person, you just want to look
- 19:45Speaker 3: at cars. I mean, you know, you want to look
- 19:46Speaker 3: at vehicles, no matter what kind they are, right.
- 19:49Speaker 9: That's right. And we've got cars, trust, motorcycles. Uh, you know,
- 19:53Speaker 9: anything that is what's looking at we want to see
- 19:56Speaker 9: it at the show. We've got several classes. We're going
- 20:00Speaker 9: to be giving trophies for corvettes and muscle cars, mustangs, jeeps.
- 20:06Speaker 9: So bring them all out and have a chance at
- 20:09Speaker 9: winning a trophy and lots of good prizes. And I know.
- 20:11Speaker 3: I mean, my brother in law is a car show guy,
- 20:14Speaker 3: and I've gone to enough of them with him to
- 20:16Speaker 3: know that these these folks, they'll go to a car
- 20:19Speaker 3: show anywhere for as a possibility for a trophy. Right,
- 20:22Speaker 3: that's right.
- 20:22Speaker 9: And it looks like we're going to have a great day.
- 20:25Speaker 9: It looks like it's going to be nice and sunny.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:27Speaker 9: We also got, you know, some bands that's going to
- 20:30Speaker 9: be there. We got some food trucks, so we've got
- 20:32Speaker 9: everything for everybody.
- 20:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was getting ready to say. I mean,
- 20:35Speaker 3: it's not just about the cars. I mean, you've got
- 20:37Speaker 3: food trucks happening, you got all kinds of bands, and
- 20:40Speaker 3: can you can you run down that schedule for us
- 20:42Speaker 3: a little bit?
- 20:44Speaker 9: Absolutely? So the cars will start rolling in about nine
- 20:47Speaker 9: o'clock eleven am, the show stars, the bands start playing
- 20:51Speaker 9: until about six o'clock, so we'll have music all day long.
- 20:55Speaker 9: We're going to have the awards ceremony at four thirty
- 20:59Speaker 9: and during that award ceremony, we're also giving away what
- 21:03Speaker 9: we call the John Lipscomb Advocacy awards to to, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 9: an Advocate of the Year that is going to be
- 21:14Speaker 9: recognized for all of the work that they do to
- 21:16Speaker 9: help people with disabilities.
- 21:18Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Again, we're talking with Jerry Boyko, who
- 21:21Speaker 3: is the executive director of the West Virginia state Wide
- 21:23Speaker 3: Independent Living Council. They're the ones that are sponsoring this
- 21:26Speaker 3: big event. Who are some of the bands? Do you
- 21:28Speaker 3: have a list of the bands that to be playing.
- 21:29Speaker 9: Yeah, so we're going to have Amanda Smith with Relative Acoustically,
- 21:34Speaker 9: and after that we'll have Relative Obscurity. They start at
- 21:38Speaker 9: one o'clock and at two we're going to have Acoustic Fusion.
- 21:44Speaker 9: They're going to be up on the boulevard, and then
- 21:48Speaker 9: lastly we're going to have Five Star Rebellion. And these
- 21:52Speaker 9: are all local bands that are volunteering their time and talent.
- 21:55Speaker 9: So I'd like to see everybody come out and support
- 21:58Speaker 9: them and health team like they're helping u US.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's going to be a great day weather wise,
- 22:03Speaker 3: I mean you mentioned that earlier. I mean, you couldn't
- 22:05Speaker 3: ask for better weather. It's not going to be very
- 22:07Speaker 3: fall like and that's okay. I mean, t temperature is
- 22:09Speaker 3: going to be in the upper seventies to low eighties.
- 22:11Speaker 3: No chance of rain right now. The Mountaineers play on
- 22:14Speaker 3: Friday night, so you can't use that as an excuse
- 22:16Speaker 3: that you're staying home or going to watch the game
- 22:18Speaker 3: or going to Morgantown. So it's a late game, so
- 22:20Speaker 3: you might be a little bit groggy when you come
- 22:22Speaker 3: out there because they don't kick off till ten thirty.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And Marshall's off this week, so football is not going
- 22:27Speaker 3: to get Intoa, at least with WVU and Marshall.
- 22:29Speaker 9: Right, that's right, And you know we run into that
- 22:33Speaker 9: problem the last couple of years, and we did look
- 22:35Speaker 9: at that schedule, so we were glad to see the
- 22:37Speaker 9: Mountaineers play the day before, so you get to see
- 22:40Speaker 9: the football in, come out to the car show and
- 22:42Speaker 9: don't have to miss a thing.
- 22:44Speaker 3: All right, So give us all the rundown again, the
- 22:47Speaker 3: times and how just the case of people are tuning
- 22:49Speaker 3: in late, the times and the schedule.
- 22:52Speaker 9: Okay, so nine o'clock to eleven is the course should
- 22:55Speaker 9: be rolling in and getting registered. They can also register
- 22:59Speaker 9: early on our website and freedomcarshow dot org open to
- 23:04Speaker 9: the public at eleven. We shut down at six and
- 23:09Speaker 9: fans are playing all day long. The Wars ceremony starts
- 23:13Speaker 9: at four thirty. That's when we're going to give out
- 23:15Speaker 9: all the trophies and prizes then we've got and so
- 23:18Speaker 9: we hope to see everyone out there.
- 23:20Speaker 3: All right, Jerry, I appreciate you being here. Best of
- 23:22Speaker 3: luck with everything. We'll see you Saturday, my friend. Thanks
- 23:25Speaker 3: a lot, all right, thank you, Jerry Boyko again, the
- 23:28Speaker 3: executive director of the West Virginia state Wide Independent Living Council.
- 23:31Speaker 3: The big car Show, the Freedom Car Show is happening
- 23:34Speaker 3: on the Boulevard and then had that Riverfront Park and
- 23:36Speaker 3: it will be this coming Saturday. And normally with these
- 23:40Speaker 3: car shows you have to say rain or shine. But
- 23:43Speaker 3: now it's not gonna be worrying about rain. I mean,
- 23:46Speaker 3: my handy little phone app tells me here that Saturday
- 23:49Speaker 3: it's going to be sunny and seventy nine here in
- 23:52Speaker 3: the capital city. So as a matter of fact, we
- 23:54Speaker 3: don't have any chance of rain the Forecastle next Tuesday,
- 23:57Speaker 3: which is a little bit problematic because we definitely only
- 24:00Speaker 3: definitely need some rain, but that's where we are right now.
- 24:03Speaker 3: But anyway, going out here and taking the car show,
- 24:04Speaker 3: it's going to be a great, great time. But Dave

- 24:38Speaker 3: But I will tell you that this Saturday, and look,
- 24:41Speaker 3: you could do more than one thing at a time.
- 24:42Speaker 3: I mean, you can go to the car show, but
- 24:44Speaker 3: you can also join us in Saint Albans because myself
- 24:48Speaker 3: and Steve Animal and more likely Shockley, we are going
- 24:51Speaker 3: to be on the streets of Saint Albans. And anytime
- 24:55Speaker 3: you hear me say that that myself and Shockley and
- 24:58Speaker 3: Animal are on the streets of Saint you probably think
- 25:01Speaker 3: there's some kind of Shenanigan's going on or one of
- 25:03Speaker 3: us is face down, but that's not the case. We
- 25:06Speaker 3: have got the fall Y'all Chili cook Off and it
- 25:10Speaker 3: is happening this Saturday in in Charo in Saint All.
- 25:15Speaker 3: But it's going to be a great, great time. It
- 25:16Speaker 3: always is. In the Mountain or Sister Station ninety eight
- 25:19Speaker 3: seven of the Mountain will be there all over the place,
- 25:22Speaker 3: up on stage. Whatever got music, and of course we
- 25:24Speaker 3: got you know, we got chili, but we got other
- 25:26Speaker 3: things besides chili as well. Dave Rucker is one of
- 25:29Speaker 3: the folks that's behind this and he is going to
- 25:32Speaker 3: join us on the show on Thursday. He was on
- 25:34Speaker 3: last week, but he's going to join us on the
- 25:35Speaker 3: show Thursday to talk about it. But we're looking forward
- 25:37Speaker 3: to seeing everybody in St Albans right on Old Main,
- 25:40Speaker 3: right in the heart of everything. And again, as I said,
- 25:42Speaker 3: just like with the Car Show, it is going to
- 25:45Speaker 3: be Weather's going to be fantastic. So I hope you
- 25:48Speaker 3: can come out and join us. And I know the
- 25:49Speaker 3: Chili Cookoff is a big part of it. I had
- 25:51Speaker 3: a chance to judge it. I was one of the
- 25:53Speaker 3: judges last year and they rotate the judges every year.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Which I think is a good thing. You don't want
- 25:58Speaker 3: to always have the same judges. And I don't know,
- 26:00Speaker 3: so I don't have the entire list of judges, but
- 26:02Speaker 3: I do know our good friend Marrily mccauliffe from wowk
- 26:05Speaker 3: TV thirteen is going to be one of the judges,
- 26:07Speaker 3: and the food guy Stephen Keith is from The Gazette
- 26:10Speaker 3: Mail is also going to be one of the judges
- 26:12Speaker 3: this year. And I'm going to be hanging out, you know,
- 26:14Speaker 3: because you only when you judge chili, you only take
- 26:16Speaker 3: one bite and you put it down, and all that
- 26:18Speaker 3: chili just'ster where somebody should finish it off. So I'm
- 26:20Speaker 3: just saying I'll just get a fresh spoon and help
- 26:23Speaker 3: you out there. But anyway, that's happening in Saint Aubus
- 26:26Speaker 3: on Saturday. We'll talk more about it with Dave Rucker
- 26:29Speaker 3: coming up on the show on Thursday. Now, I got
- 26:31Speaker 3: a couple of texts here, and then we'll bring in
- 26:32Speaker 3: Sean Hill from KRT Texas. Good morning, Dave. This one's
- 26:35Speaker 3: about agriculture. Not really your thing, I know, but it's
- 26:38Speaker 3: how we stay alive.
- 26:39Speaker 6: Agreed.
- 26:40Speaker 3: The question, can Magus explain to me why Trump wants
- 26:43Speaker 3: to spend twenty billion dollars or send rather, I'm sorry,
- 26:46Speaker 3: twenty billion dollars to Argentina to bail out their farmers
- 26:49Speaker 3: besides to prop up their government. That is a Maggart replica.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Couldn't that money be better spent on homeless veterans? Says
- 26:57Speaker 3: the text And to say it's not my thing. I'm
- 27:01Speaker 3: not necessarily into the agriculture thing as far as growing it,
- 27:03Speaker 3: but I am as far as eating it, because I
- 27:06Speaker 3: started eating as a young kid and just really never
- 27:09Speaker 3: gone out of the habit. Tex says, you spent a
- 27:11Speaker 3: lot of time talking about the rampant growth of Tays
- 27:13Speaker 3: Valley of Putnam County, yet census estimate shows slight population loss.
- 27:17Speaker 3: They're holding study best other than traffic and busy chainstwords
- 27:20Speaker 3: white criteria. Are you basing your growth narrative what major
- 27:24Speaker 3: employers are fueling the so called growth. I don't have
- 27:26Speaker 3: statistics in front of me, but I live in the
- 27:28Speaker 3: heart of it. I know what I see every day,
- 27:29Speaker 3: and I know in talking to Rich the realtor and
- 27:32Speaker 3: people like that, not just Rich but others, that there
- 27:35Speaker 3: is a growing demand for homes. People are moving in again.
- 27:38Speaker 3: I just know what I see because I live there.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I'm the Mayor of Tays Valley, as TJ. Meadows called me,
- 27:45Speaker 3: and I know what I see. And now maybe they're
- 27:49Speaker 3: moving in from other counties, you know, maybe they're moving
- 27:51Speaker 3: from Kennaar or Cabbal. I don't know, but people are
- 27:54Speaker 3: moving in. New Core is one of those. And there's
- 27:56Speaker 3: going to be, as I said earlier, a big economic
- 27:58Speaker 3: development announcement scaled for ten this morning. The Development Authority
- 28:02Speaker 3: in Putnam County, the Chamber and others are going to
- 28:04Speaker 3: be in Eleanor recovering that. You can hear all about

- 31:11Speaker 3: Sean Hill KRT is here. Hey doing my friend, I'm
- 31:14Speaker 3: doing fantastic. Thanks for having me, Thank you for being here.
- 31:16Speaker 3: So what's new? You had all kinds of stuff you
- 31:19Speaker 3: want to talk about today?
- 31:20Speaker 12: We'll turn it over to you, Yes, sir, Yeah, We've
- 31:22Speaker 12: got a lot going on a KRT that we're excited
- 31:24Speaker 12: about it. The one thing I want to talk about
- 31:26Speaker 12: the most is starting October thirteenth, we're going to be
- 31:28Speaker 12: expanding our KRT Plus service. So we've we've started with
- 31:32Speaker 12: three zones over the last year, and now we're feeling
- 31:35Speaker 12: confident that we can expand those zones out. So starting
- 31:39Speaker 12: on October thirteenth, we're going to add Southridge, Knas City,
- 31:42Speaker 12: and South Charleston to that program. And as we've talked
- 31:44Speaker 12: about before and some of our hopefully our listeners are
- 31:47Speaker 12: aware of, this program is kind of our it's our
- 31:49Speaker 12: on demand ride share service ESQ, provided by KRT. So
- 31:55Speaker 12: you get on our KRT Plus app, you ask for
- 31:57Speaker 12: a ride, it comes and picks you up in your zone,
- 31:59Speaker 12: it takes you somewhere else in that zone, or it
- 32:01Speaker 12: gets you to the bus line.
- 32:02Speaker 3: And you talk about it being I like that term
- 32:04Speaker 3: ride share ESK, yes, because that's I mean, that's pretty
- 32:08Speaker 3: much what it is. And you know, there was there
- 32:10Speaker 3: were some things in the news over to the last
- 32:12Speaker 3: of year and year and a half or sovice you, guys,
- 32:13Speaker 3: we're going to be cutting back and that's and that's
- 32:15Speaker 3: true and your traditional service, but you've in a way
- 32:20Speaker 3: added to it with this ride.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Share service exactly.
- 32:22Speaker 12: And so what we were asked and we went through
- 32:24Speaker 12: about five public hearings and the feedback was fantastic and
- 32:28Speaker 12: I appreciate our passengers for coming out and giving us
- 32:30Speaker 12: and asking us, Hey, can you come up with an
- 32:32Speaker 12: idea where people we still have service of some type.
- 32:35Speaker 12: We understand you guys have budget realities and need to
- 32:37Speaker 12: be responsible with your funding, but can you do it
- 32:40Speaker 12: in a way that maintains service. So what we're talking
- 32:42Speaker 12: about is those three new zones coming on so that
- 32:44Speaker 12: we have six total, and then two of those routes
- 32:47Speaker 12: that we talked about for really literally for over three
- 32:49Speaker 12: years now, have said, hey, these routes are over subsidized.
- 32:52Speaker 12: I can't look you in the eye and say they
- 32:54Speaker 12: make sense for me to continue to ride buses up
- 32:56Speaker 12: and down you know, Bridge Road or Beach Avenue. But
- 32:58Speaker 12: what we can do is provide this service where instead
- 33:01Speaker 12: of living by krt's schedule where we come, you know,
- 33:03Speaker 12: six times a day through South Hills or Beach Avenue.
- 33:06Speaker 12: Now from six am to six pm, you can get
- 33:08Speaker 12: on your phone or you can call into our office.
- 33:10Speaker 12: You don't want to download the app, that's completely fine,
- 33:12Speaker 12: and ask for a ride and we'll come pick you up.
- 33:14Speaker 12: So now too, the citizens of Gawk County know, if
- 33:16Speaker 12: you see a KRT vehicle on October thirteenth and South
- 33:20Speaker 12: Hills are on Beach Avenue, it's because someone said, hey,
- 33:22Speaker 12: I want to ride. It's not just the fact that
- 33:23Speaker 12: it was driving around in circles.
- 33:25Speaker 3: And that's unfortunately, that's kind of what happens, not just
- 33:28Speaker 3: with KRT, but with any public trains and service. Sometimes
- 33:30Speaker 3: you have more riders than you do.
- 33:32Speaker 12: Other times exactly, and that's the point of making sure
- 33:36Speaker 12: that we keep this a liquid system. We learn from
- 33:38Speaker 12: what works, and if it's working, let's pump it up.
- 33:41Speaker 12: And that's what we see on the Kana River. We
- 33:43Speaker 12: actually increased our frequency to Saint Albans, Nitro, Montgomery, those
- 33:47Speaker 12: areas because we said, hey, the ridership demand is there.
- 33:50Speaker 12: The areas where it's not working, it's okay to admit
- 33:52Speaker 12: that and say, hey, how do we make an adjustment
- 33:54Speaker 12: that makes our dollar go further?
- 33:55Speaker 6: And that's what this program does.
- 33:57Speaker 3: How much input you talked about the public hearings anything.
- 34:00Speaker 3: We're talking with Sean Hill from krtwo. You talk about
- 34:02Speaker 3: the public hearings, You had several of them. What did
- 34:06Speaker 3: what did you go back in time? What did you
- 34:08Speaker 3: take away from those from those public hearings?
- 34:10Speaker 12: The first thing I took away was to have to
- 34:12Speaker 12: have public hearings where you come out and say hey,
- 34:14Speaker 12: we're going to make a change, and if you do
- 34:16Speaker 12: that every ten or fifteen years, you better hang on.
- 34:18Speaker 6: Tight because you're gonna you're gonna get some feedback.
- 34:21Speaker 12: Changes hard what you wanted. It is exactly what we wanted.
- 34:23Speaker 12: But it also taught us a lesson of hey, go slow,
- 34:27Speaker 12: have more of these meetings than than you, even on paper,
- 34:29Speaker 12: maybe think you need, because you want to make sure
- 34:32Speaker 12: you get all the feedback you can. And that that
- 34:33Speaker 12: resounding feedback to us was, hey, we're okay if you
- 34:36Speaker 12: make some changes, just don't do it all at once
- 34:38Speaker 12: and don't take it out away from us the service.
- 34:40Speaker 12: And that's what we've kind of even after three years,
- 34:43Speaker 12: we're at the point now where we're saying, okay, we're
- 34:45Speaker 12: ready to flip that switch on those two routes and
- 34:47Speaker 12: convert them over to this on demand transit uh. And
- 34:50Speaker 12: that's that's the culmination of that feedback from the public
- 34:54Speaker 12: and also us saying, hey, what ideas are out there
- 34:56Speaker 12: and technologies we can use to make our dollar go further.
- 34:58Speaker 3: And everything's gon pretty smoothly. I mean again, change is hard,
- 35:01Speaker 3: we all know that, but everything's pretty much gone smoothing people.
- 35:06Speaker 6: It has so over a year of doing this service.
- 35:09Speaker 12: It's given us some data because what we want to
- 35:11Speaker 12: make sure is that we're methodical and how we roll
- 35:13Speaker 12: this out. You know, I could bring out twelve zones
- 35:16Speaker 12: all over Kanaha County and it would look great on paper,
- 35:18Speaker 12: but if you ask for a ride and it doesn't
- 35:20Speaker 12: show up. That was the frustrations we've had with transit
- 35:24Speaker 12: or with apps like Uber or lyft in Kanaha County.
- 35:27Speaker 12: So what we wanted to do was make sure we
- 35:29Speaker 12: could maintain that level of service where we had the
- 35:31Speaker 12: completion of the rides hovering up there. It's hovering around
- 35:33Speaker 12: ninety percent right now. We're happy with that, and we
- 35:36Speaker 12: think what that teaches us is that we could expand slowly,
- 35:39Speaker 12: and that's what we've done into three new groups.
- 35:41Speaker 6: And what we'll do is we'll learn from there.
- 35:43Speaker 12: Hey, if that demand or the completion rates drop substantially,
- 35:47Speaker 12: that means we need to bring on more drivers to
- 35:49Speaker 12: be able to perform that work. So we're going to
- 35:51Speaker 12: learn from the demand, but then keep that high level
- 35:54Speaker 12: of standard to make sure when people ask for a ride,
- 35:55Speaker 12: they get one.
- 35:56Speaker 3: You talked about downloading the app, and you know, not
- 35:59Speaker 3: everybody's tech savvy, or maybe sometimes people don't trust apps
- 36:04Speaker 3: or they just you know, they got enough apps, you know,
- 36:08Speaker 3: as many of us do. Uh, So you can you
- 36:10Speaker 3: can just call you can just call do the old
- 36:12Speaker 3: fashion one.
- 36:13Speaker 12: Yep, you can call our office. It's a three or
- 36:15Speaker 12: four three four three seven five eight six. You call
- 36:17Speaker 12: that number. One of our schedulers will they'll pick up
- 36:20Speaker 12: the phone into it for you. They'll they'll log it
- 36:22Speaker 12: in essentially just like the app. But I agree, I
- 36:24Speaker 12: don't want one more app on my phone, and this
- 36:27Speaker 12: is a way around that.
- 36:28Speaker 6: So you can still receive the same exact service.
- 36:30Speaker 12: The only difference is you know your notifications of hey,
- 36:33Speaker 12: your vehicle was five minutes away. Yeah, you won't get that,
- 36:36Speaker 12: but that's okay, You're still going to get picked up.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and what uh what else is going on for
- 36:40Speaker 3: the future.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Sure.
- 36:41Speaker 12: So another thing that's that's taken off in the last month,
- 36:45Speaker 12: about two weeks ago, we started our fair Capping initiative
- 36:48Speaker 12: and this was the introduction of account based ticketing, So
- 36:51Speaker 12: individuals can now load up a card. You think about, hey,
- 36:55Speaker 12: like I've got a Kroger card, or I've got a
- 36:56Speaker 12: Sheets card, et cetera. Or you've got to go mark card,
- 36:59Speaker 12: but you actually load this card up with your kart
- 37:03Speaker 12: to the balance. And what that does is we call
- 37:05Speaker 12: it fair capping because we experienced that individuals who rode
- 37:09Speaker 12: our buses may over the course of a month pay
- 37:12Speaker 12: more if they paid every single day then if they
- 37:15Speaker 12: just bought the month pass at the first day of
- 37:16Speaker 12: the month. So this fair capping program says, once you
- 37:19Speaker 12: hit fifty dollars in a month with KRT, the next
- 37:22Speaker 12: time you go to ride, it's going to say zero dollars.
- 37:25Speaker 12: That's something that we're really proud of because we think
- 37:27Speaker 12: it's taking into consideration in our passengers who ride daily.
- 37:32Speaker 12: It's giving them an incentive and helping them save money.
- 37:34Speaker 12: We don't feel good about the fact that if you
- 37:36Speaker 12: did the math and paid every single day, you ended
- 37:38Speaker 12: up paying more than the person who paid for it upfront.
- 37:41Speaker 12: So this is a nice initiative for us. And it's
- 37:43Speaker 12: also giving our passengers the ability to use this card
- 37:47Speaker 12: that loads their balance that they can reload at convenience stores,
- 37:50Speaker 12: et cetera. Instead of having to pay with cash every
- 37:53Speaker 12: time they get on the bus. They can still do that,
- 37:55Speaker 12: but they can do it quicker if they load up
- 37:56Speaker 12: at the city center down at Kart's headquarter.
- 37:59Speaker 3: All right, so what does just to average? I mean,
- 38:01Speaker 3: I guess it varies, but give us an idea of
- 38:03Speaker 3: the of the prices. If you're paying for cash or whatever,
- 38:05Speaker 3: you don't get them. Yeah, so it's a dollar fifty
- 38:06Speaker 3: to ride the bus.
- 38:08Speaker 12: That's kind of that same, you know, And depending on
- 38:11Speaker 12: how many times you ride in a day, the cap
- 38:12Speaker 12: for the day is three fifty. So if you you think,
- 38:15Speaker 12: if you did three fifty times, we're open twenty seven days.
- 38:19Speaker 6: We take out Sundays. So you start doing that math.
- 38:21Speaker 12: And if you just paid every single day, historically you
- 38:24Speaker 12: could pay over ninety dollars. I'm not a flunked math,
- 38:27Speaker 12: but ever ninety dollars. But now what we're saying is, hey,
- 38:30Speaker 12: the monthly pass is fifty dollars. So if you rode
- 38:33Speaker 12: every single day that krit is open in a month,
- 38:35Speaker 12: you were essentially, you know, giving us forty extra dollars.
- 38:38Speaker 12: And we appreciate that, but that's not the way we
- 38:40Speaker 12: want to do things. We want to make sure that
- 38:41Speaker 12: we're taking this technology that we're we're asking people to change,
- 38:45Speaker 12: but we're also saying, hey, it's going to improve your
- 38:47Speaker 12: lifestyle because that forty dollars can go further. That's, you know,
- 38:51Speaker 12: something you can reinvest back in your family instead of
- 38:53Speaker 12: giving it to Karty. Talk about your ridership numbers, Yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 12: so our ridership numbers. Historically, all of public transit took
- 39:01Speaker 12: a huge hit during COVID. It's a strange phenomenon. People
- 39:04Speaker 12: figured out other ways to get to work when either
- 39:07Speaker 12: service was disrupted. We have a resilient population in West
- 39:10Speaker 12: Virginians figure a way to get it done, and a
- 39:12Speaker 12: lot of those individuals who transition to another transit style
- 39:17Speaker 12: stuck to it. Because we went from about two million
- 39:19Speaker 12: riders a year, we're a little over one point one
- 39:21Speaker 12: million now. So that ridership did drop during COVID, and
- 39:25Speaker 12: we're starting to see it go back up. Some of
- 39:27Speaker 12: these programs to try to attract new writers maybe who
- 39:30Speaker 12: haven't historically ridden the bus but will take a KRT
- 39:33Speaker 12: plus home from somewhere has helped. But it's a real
- 39:36Speaker 12: challenge to get people to embrace this system and get
- 39:39Speaker 12: back on the bus.
- 39:41Speaker 3: What what's the average rider look like? I mean, you know,
- 39:44Speaker 3: I don't it varies, but I mean the averaging the
- 39:48Speaker 3: employee that's coming into town. That sort of thing. I mean,
- 39:51Speaker 3: just just give give to a three average rider, you know,
- 39:55Speaker 3: I think the great thing.
- 39:56Speaker 6: And we did a campaign a.
- 39:57Speaker 12: Few years ago called the Faces of krt U. The
- 40:00Speaker 12: answer to that question is that they look like all
- 40:02Speaker 12: of us. You know, you have the gamut of individuals
- 40:04Speaker 12: who are trying to get to work, They're trying to
- 40:06Speaker 12: get their kids to school, they're trying to get to
- 40:08Speaker 12: medical appointments. They that that maybe they're paratransit because they
- 40:13Speaker 12: have some type of situation that has caused them hardship
- 40:16Speaker 12: and getting getting around as far as their own vehicles.
- 40:19Speaker 6: You name it.
- 40:19Speaker 12: If you you could look at anyone in Kanah County
- 40:22Speaker 12: and say, okay, that's someone who rides the bus on
- 40:24Speaker 12: a daily basis. And we're proud of that because we
- 40:26Speaker 12: make sure that we maintain a safe, reliable, convenient service
- 40:29Speaker 12: for our passengers.
- 40:30Speaker 6: So it's hard to put a.
- 40:31Speaker 12: Label on, Hey, this looks like someone who rides the bus, right,
- 40:34Speaker 12: I got you, I got you, because they're all out there.
- 40:36Speaker 12: But what we're most proud of is what we kind
- 40:39Speaker 12: of we connect people to opportunities, what we say, and
- 40:41Speaker 12: we're getting those people to work. So we want to
- 40:43Speaker 12: focus on the fact that we're a huge resource for
- 40:46Speaker 12: the economy in Kanawk County because we are getting.
- 40:48Speaker 6: People to work.
- 40:48Speaker 3: All right, well, let's before we let you go, let's
- 40:51Speaker 3: let's have you just do a little commercial here for Karaty.
- 40:54Speaker 3: Why should people use your services?
- 40:55Speaker 12: Yeah, people should use kart services because we're connecting people
- 40:58Speaker 12: to opportunity, whether that's getting you to work, whether it's
- 41:00Speaker 12: getting you to school, medical appointments, grocery stores. We're going
- 41:04Speaker 12: to get you there, and we're going to do it
- 41:06Speaker 12: in the most reliable, safe, convenient, affordable way possible. And
- 41:10Speaker 12: we think we can compete really well with all the
- 41:12Speaker 12: other options out there. Get on the karts if it's
- 41:15Speaker 12: coming through your neighborhood, Look on the maps, look on
- 41:18Speaker 12: righton kart dot com to see where our new zones
- 41:20Speaker 12: are going. They're going to be servicing South Ridge, Kanas City,
- 41:23Speaker 12: and South Charleston now, So we're excited about that and
- 41:25Speaker 12: we're excited to have you on our buses.

- 44:39Speaker 3: their economy if certain benchmarks are not met. It could
- 44:42Speaker 3: potentially mean money to their lender down the road, but
- 44:47Speaker 3: unlikely to happen. The fact that the US is giving
- 44:50Speaker 3: a guarantee makes it more likely that they will succeed,
- 44:53Speaker 3: says a Texter. The President as we speak is in
- 44:57Speaker 3: Quantico right now, and of course they've got this gathering
- 45:00Speaker 3: of military folks from around the world, and he is
- 45:04Speaker 3: speaking as we speak. ABC News will have more on
- 45:08Speaker 3: that coming up. At the top of the hour. My
- 45:10Speaker 3: good friend Melanie Palario wanted me to remind you of this,
- 45:14Speaker 3: and you heard him talking about it on the show
- 45:16Speaker 3: here a week or so ago. The Kannaul Valley Alumni
- 45:18Speaker 3: Chapter of Marshall he is about to get up in running.
- 45:22Speaker 3: They are having a big kickoff event this Thursday at
- 45:25Speaker 3: the Roughner from five thirty to eight thirty and their
- 45:28Speaker 3: guest is going to be none other than Marshall ad
- 45:31Speaker 3: at the new guy in town, Gerald Harrison. And I'll
- 45:33Speaker 3: tell you we've interviewed on Metro News Midday. We've had
- 45:36Speaker 3: Gerald Harrison on at least once or twice, and then
- 45:37Speaker 3: we had him on a couples ago. That guy will
- 45:40Speaker 3: make you want to run through a wall, whether you're
- 45:42Speaker 3: a Marshall person or not. I mean, his enthusiasm is
- 45:46Speaker 3: just so off the charts man And yeah, he's going
- 45:51Speaker 3: to be the guest speaker at this event. Again, they're
- 45:53Speaker 3: gonna have others I think from the Athletic department of
- 45:55Speaker 3: the Alumni Association. It's all this Thursday at the Roughner
- 45:58Speaker 3: starting at Bigley Pickley Wiggly Hotline three zero four three

- 46:08Speaker 3: Metro News Midday Coming up at noon today, thirteen News
- 46:11Speaker 3: in Tonight Live Anchor Amanda Bart and Me powered by
- 46:14Speaker 3: Selingo Law. Chris Hamilton from the West Virginia Coal Association
- 46:17Speaker 3: will stop by the Coal Association. I don't want to
- 46:20Speaker 3: say that they're taking a victory lap right now, but
- 46:22Speaker 3: they're pretty hopeful about some things for the future as
- 46:26Speaker 3: it pertains to energy and some rollbacks of some regulations,
- 46:31Speaker 3: and so mister Hamilton is going to join us to
- 46:33Speaker 3: talk about that on this show today. There, as I've
- 46:35Speaker 3: been mentioning throughout the day, a big economic announcement planned
- 46:38Speaker 3: for Putnam County at ten o'clock this morning. We're going
- 46:41Speaker 3: to break all that down for you on the show.
- 46:45Speaker 3: I'm mentioned earlier about this meeting of military minds that's
- 46:49Speaker 3: going on today in Washington. We're going to get into
- 46:53Speaker 3: that story a little bit later on, plus more on
- 46:55Speaker 3: the government shutdown or potential government shutdown. I mean, you
- 47:00Speaker 3: shut this puppy down as of you know what is
- 47:02Speaker 3: at midnight tonight. I guess if something is not reached
- 47:06Speaker 3: some sort of of an agreement and a programming note,
- 47:09Speaker 3: Senator Shelley Moore Capito is going to be on talk
- 47:12Speaker 3: Line today with Wilson and Meadows talking about that very
- 47:14Speaker 3: thing and the difference with this shutdown this time. We've
- 47:21Speaker 3: had shutdowns in the past and you you well remember that,
- 47:24Speaker 3: but this one they are saying that if it's shut
- 47:28Speaker 3: down that some of these jobs are not returning, that
- 47:31Speaker 3: they're just going to be eliminated. So we're going to
- 47:34Speaker 3: get into that coming up on the show later today
- 47:36Speaker 3: as well. Just added to the show touris some secretary
- 47:38Speaker 3: from the say to West Virginia, Chelsea Ruby, is going
- 47:41Speaker 3: to join us. They got a big tourism event going
- 47:43Speaker 3: on in Morgantown and that she is taking a little
- 47:46Speaker 3: break from the conference up there to join us on
- 47:48Speaker 3: the show today. Of course, Jeff Jenkins will get us
- 47:50Speaker 3: caught up on the news, and of course there's always
- 47:52Speaker 3: open lined West Virginia Metro News Midday with thirteen News
- 47:54Speaker 3: and Tonight Live anchor Amanda barn and Me coming up
- 47:57Speaker 3: at noon today powered by a Selango Law on this
- 48:00Speaker 3: show tomorrow. I told you earlier again it's I've kind
- 48:03Speaker 3: of been to theme of the day's economic development announcement
- 48:05Speaker 3: for Putnam County today. We're going to have the people
- 48:08Speaker 3: on Midday today, but I'm also going to have them
- 48:10Speaker 3: on the local show tomorrow because once the announcement is
- 48:13Speaker 3: made at ten this morning, we're going to have to
- 48:16Speaker 3: go and get workers for these jobs. And so the
- 48:20Speaker 3: announcement is coming in about five minutes or so at
- 48:24Speaker 3: an event in Eleanor we're covering at wv Metro News
- 48:26Speaker 3: dot com. We'll have it on air and online. We'll
- 48:28Speaker 3: get into it on Metro News Midday today, but tomorrow
- 48:31Speaker 3: we are going to have those folks on to talk
- 48:32Speaker 3: about a job fair that they're going to be having
- 48:34Speaker 3: to try to hire workers for it, So we'll get
- 48:36Speaker 3: into that on the show tomorrow. Also on the show tomorrow,
- 48:39Speaker 3: the folks at Goodwill are planning their ninety money Carlo.
- 48:42Speaker 3: You may have heard the ad running in the show
- 48:43Speaker 3: a little bit earlier. We're going to get into that
- 48:45Speaker 3: with them and Delegate and State the Democratic Party Chair
- 48:49Speaker 3: Mike Pushkin will be on this show tomorrow as well.
- 48:52Speaker 3: He was on talk Line yesterday and they have another
- 48:54Speaker 3: one of those kitchen table events happening. I think it's
- 48:57Speaker 3: tonight in Morgan Town at one of Charleston coming up
- 48:59Speaker 3: there doing going on over the state on these things.
- 49:01Speaker 3: But that's going to be talked about. We'll talk about
- 49:06Speaker 3: how that happened. But also we're going to talk about
- 49:09Speaker 3: their big Democratic gathering in Charleston that is coming to
- 49:12Speaker 3: the Saturday night. So that's all coming up on tomorrow's show. Texas,
- 49:16Speaker 3: why is the government guaranteed money to foreign governments for
- 49:19Speaker 3: their failing policies. Don't we have homeless veterans who could
- 49:21Speaker 3: use a guarantee of money. No Argentinian was blown up
- 49:24Speaker 3: by carbomb in a rack to further American economic interest.
- 49:29Speaker 6: Tex says Dave.
- 49:29Speaker 3: It's a partial shutdown, not as shutdown as you keep saying.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Another race in the news is not trustworthy. Okay, all right,
- 49:37Speaker 3: I partial shutdown, regular shutdown. Okay, got you a couple
- 49:43Speaker 3: of things in the news, and we will direct you
- 49:46Speaker 3: to the website for more of these stories. The South

- 50:47Speaker 3: seen in my lifetime. It's bad sense, its texture, and
- 50:50Speaker 3: since I have little else these days to be happy
- 50:53Speaker 3: about from the world of sports, you know from this
- 50:56Speaker 3: past weekend. Marshall WVU My Georgia Bulldogs lost the Cowboys tied,
- 51:01Speaker 3: which I don't know how that's possible. But my Reds
- 51:04Speaker 3: are in the playoffs tonight facing the Dodgers in Los Angeles,
- 51:08Speaker 3: and we're gonna have coverage from the Reds Radio Network
- 51:11Speaker 3: starting at eight thirty tonight on on w CCHS. That's

- 52:01Speaker 3: Shelley more Capito's coming up with you guys today. I'm
- 52:03Speaker 3: sure she's going to talk about that.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:04Speaker 15: I think you'll still get your Social Security because that's
- 52:06Speaker 15: essential spending. That's mandatory spending, not discretionary. This is about discretionary.
- 52:11Speaker 15: I think they will shut it down. I think they're
- 52:13Speaker 15: going to. I think they're dug in yep.
- 52:15Speaker 3: I would agree with that. And some people aren't coming
