• 2:37
Speaker 5: good morning and welcome to the show.

Speaker 6: Good morning and happy Early Easter.
• 2:41
Speaker 5: Happy Early Easter, Happy Good Friday, happy all the things.
• 2:45
Speaker 5: As always our Adopt Me Please Pet of the weeks
• 2:47
Speaker 5: pick posted at Dave Island Radio and the WCCHS network
• 2:51
Speaker 5: Facebook page, as well as at dave a seventy on
• 2:54
Speaker 5: X tell us about Darwin.
• 2:58
Speaker 6: So, Darwin came to Casey as astray. He was I
• 3:02
Speaker 6: mean this just giant hairball. Kind of looked like a
• 3:05
Speaker 6: brillowpad if I'm being honest. He was covered in Matt's
• 3:09
Speaker 6: and his hair was extremely overgrown. So a volunteer that
• 3:13
Speaker 6: also happens to be a groomer decided to give him
• 3:15
Speaker 6: a haircut on the house. So he looks like the
• 3:17
Speaker 6: picture that's posted on your Facebook page. Now, he's the
• 3:21
Speaker 6: sweetest dog. He loves, loves, loves to go on walks
• 3:25
Speaker 6: with volunteers. If you're gonna volunteer at KCHA, and I'm
• 3:28
Speaker 6: getting you started, you're gonna be walking Darwin. But he
• 3:32
Speaker 6: he loves walks. He's already neutered, vaccinated, microchips, all that
• 3:35
Speaker 6: good stuff. He does love to play with other dogs.
• 3:39
Speaker 6: I'm not so sure about cats. And he is fifty
• 3:43
Speaker 6: one pounds and about two years old. We're guessing so.
• 3:46
Speaker 6: And he also has a brother at KCHA. His brother's
• 3:49
Speaker 6: name is Gumball. So if you missed the chance to
• 3:51
Speaker 6: adopt Darwin, there's another Darwin for you.
• 3:53
Speaker 5: So the name Darwin. Where does that come from? Because
• 3:56
Speaker 5: you always have a unique story about these pets in
• 3:58
Speaker 5: their names. Where does Darwin come from?
• 4:01
Speaker 6: So Darwin and Gumball are characters on this kid's TV
• 4:04
Speaker 6: show on Cartoon Network. They're also brothers. It's called the
• 4:08
Speaker 6: I think the Amazing Adventures of Gumball or something.
• 4:11
Speaker 5: Okay, right, all right? So again we get Darwin's picture
• 4:15
Speaker 5: posted on Dave Allen Radio on Facebook and the WCHS
• 4:18
Speaker 5: network Facebook page as well as at Dave A seventy
• 4:21
Speaker 5: on AX. Do we know the situation? I know he
• 4:23
Speaker 5: was brought in to his hair was all mad and whatnot.
• 4:25
Speaker 5: Do we know, you know, without going into too much here,
• 4:28
Speaker 5: exactly how he ended up in that shape? Did just
• 4:30
Speaker 5: lack of care from somebody or what?
• 4:32
Speaker 6: I would be willing to wager that they were probably
• 4:35
Speaker 6: outside dogs that didn't you know, they're not jumping up
• 4:38
Speaker 6: on your couch and you know you're sitting there like
• 4:40
Speaker 6: petting them and noticing that their hair is getting mad
• 4:42
Speaker 6: at So I would be willing to bet that that's
• 4:44
Speaker 6: the situation because they were found outside just running loose.
• 4:48
Speaker 6: They've been at our shelter for quite some time now,
• 4:50
Speaker 6: almost a month, and no one has come up to
• 4:52
Speaker 6: to reclaim them. So I would say that their life
• 4:55
Speaker 6: has been spent a lot of time outside and no
• 4:58
Speaker 6: one's really kind of paid close attention to him.
• 5:01
Speaker 5: Do we have any idea what kind of dog Darwin is?
• 5:04
Speaker 6: Uh so, I like I would put my money on
• 5:07
Speaker 6: like a terrier mix of sorts.
• 5:09
Speaker 5: That's kind of what I thought. That's kind of what
• 5:11
Speaker 5: I thought, I thought and large right, And I noticed that.
• 5:15
Speaker 5: And again the pictures posted you can see the groomer
• 5:18
Speaker 5: did a fantastic job with Darwin, especially from what he
• 5:21
Speaker 5: looked like when he when he got there. But he's
• 5:23
Speaker 5: still got some of that fur on his on his legs,
• 5:26
  Speaker 5: which is all I mean, it's it's been trimmed, it's
• 5:28
Speaker 5: all clean and everything now. But that leads me to believe,
• 5:30
Speaker 5: and again I'm not an expert necessarily on dog breeds,
• 5:33
Speaker 5: but that leads me to believe probably a terrier, like you.
• 5:35
Speaker 6: Said, yeah, that's my best guess, a large breed carrier,
• 5:40
Speaker 6: maybe even like one of these doodle oodle doodle mixes.
• 5:44
  Speaker 6: Maybe some of that, but I can't I can't say
• 5:47
Speaker 6: for sure. I just know he is fuzzy and has
• 5:50
Speaker 6: that that like people eyes kind of kind of look
• 5:53
  Speaker 6: about him.
• 5:53
Speaker 5: He's a beautiful dog and as you said, he would
• 5:55
Speaker 5: make a fantastic pet for somebody. We'll get back to
• 5:57
Speaker 5: Darwin in a moment now. Last week you told us
• 6:00
Speaker 5: that you were forced to halt intakes at the shelter.
• 6:02
Speaker 5: Where are we now?
• 6:04
Speaker 6: So we made the decision after more positive cases that
• 6:07
Speaker 6: we saw in number one in our shelter and number
• 6:09
Speaker 6: two in the community. We paused intakes for another week,
• 6:13
Speaker 6: and the good news is that the cases are dwindling
• 6:16
Speaker 6: down from what we've seen. We just want a solid
• 6:20
Speaker 6: week of no positive cases before we subject another dog
• 6:23
Speaker 6: to coming in and possibly getting sick. So we are
• 6:27
Speaker 6: holding off on another week. We should be starting intake
• 6:30
Speaker 6: next Wednesday, providing cases stay at a minimum in and
• 6:34
  Speaker 6: around the shelter.
• 6:36
Speaker 5: All right, but again we're talking to Angie Gillenwater with
• 6:38
Speaker 5: this week's adopt me. Please put it the weekend updigting
• 6:40
Speaker 5: this on some things going on at the shelter. Dave
• 6:43
Speaker 5: Island Show on five eighty line, brought to you part
• 6:45
Speaker 5: by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. Single
• 6:47
Speaker 5: game tickets and season tickets are on sale now. At
• 6:49
Speaker 5: the website and be sure and get your tickets for
• 6:51
Speaker 5: the May fifth WVU Marshall game as well. For more,
• 6:54
Speaker 5: visit dirtybirds baseball dot com. What are you currently in
• 6:57
Speaker 5: need of at the shelter?
• 6:59
Speaker 6: So our biggest needs right now are blankets. With the
• 7:02
Speaker 6: distemper cases that have been in and around the shelter,
• 7:05
Speaker 6: We're having to throw away a lot of our linens
• 7:07
Speaker 6: because they can't be properly sanitized. So blankets, towels, sheets,
• 7:11
Speaker 6: any type of linen cleaning products, so we're thinking dishwashing, liquid, gloves,
• 7:17
Speaker 6: paper towels. If you can clean with it, we will
• 7:20
Speaker 6: take it. And then also wet food for dogs and
• 7:23
Speaker 6: cats with any brand.
• 7:24
Speaker 5: We had a text here for you, ang you said,
• 7:26
Speaker 5: how are the kittens that were rescued from the house fire.
• 7:29
Speaker 6: So the kittens actually stole the hearts of one of
• 7:32
Speaker 6: our staff members, Katie, and she took them home to
• 7:35
Speaker 6: foster them. They're doing They're all doing fabulous. She's bottle
• 7:39
Speaker 6: feeding them every couple hours throughout the night and throughout
• 7:42
Speaker 6: the day. They're all in perfect health. And Katie also
• 7:46
Speaker 6: went as far to go back to the area to
• 7:48
Speaker 6: try to find a mommy cat. She was not able
• 7:50
Speaker 6: to locate their mother, but that hasn't slowed her down.
• 7:54
Speaker 6: She's now their mother and is taking great care of them.
• 7:57
Speaker 5: Well, that's a good story they came out of that tragedy,
• 7:59
Speaker 5: because I know it was reported by US and other
• 8:02
Speaker 5: media outlets about the kittens that were rescued, and you actually,
• 8:06
Speaker 5: you guys actually posted a picture on your Facebook page
• 8:09
Speaker 5: of the firefighters holding the kittens and so uh little
• 8:13
Speaker 5: little dirty obviously with the with the ashes and everything.
• 8:16
Speaker 5: But they're going to be fine, right.
• 8:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, they're Their outlook is really good right now, and
• 8:22
Speaker 6: like they have the super star foster taking care of
• 8:24
  Speaker 6: them right now.
• 8:25
Speaker 5: So how are your numbers looking? Overall?
• 8:29
Speaker 6: We're still in the three hundred range. Typically we are
• 8:33
Speaker 6: usually overcrowded with dogs. That is not since we've stopped intake.
• 8:36
Speaker 6: Of course, that's not really the case right now. It's
• 8:38
Speaker 6: not quite safe for dogs to come in. But we
• 8:41
Speaker 6: do have a lot of cats in our building that
• 8:43
Speaker 6: are needing foster care, that are needing adopted, you know,
• 8:47
Speaker 6: so cats are really tipping the scales at this point.
• 8:52
Speaker 5: Are you guys going to be out and about anywhere
• 8:54
  Speaker 5: this Easter weekend?
• 8:56
Speaker 6: We are not we're going to be taking the weekend
• 8:58
  Speaker 6: nice and.
• 8:59
Speaker 5: Slow, as I understand, completely understanding, And I also want
• 9:02
Speaker 5: to mention Tucks and Tales, your big fundraiser coming up
• 9:05
Speaker 5: April twenty fifth, seven o'clock at JQ Dicketts and Salt
• 9:07
  Speaker 5: Works in Maldon.
• 9:08
Speaker 6: How we looking there, So tickets are still available and
• 9:13
Speaker 6: we are getting down to the wire on that. It's
• 9:15
Speaker 6: officially tuxas and tailed months, so we're all going to be,
• 9:18
Speaker 6: you know, running around trying to make sure this event
• 9:20
Speaker 6: is a success. And if you don't know, again it
• 9:22
Speaker 6: is our biggest fundraising event of the year, so you

Speaker 6: be adoptable puppies there for you to level as well
• 9:30
Speaker 6: as enjoying all the silent auctions and live music.
• 9:34
Speaker 5: All right. The full information again is available on your
• 9:36
Speaker 5: website and also on your social media. Angie Gillan water Knaw, Charleston,

• 9:43
Speaker 5: We'll talk to you next week. Thanks a lot.
• 9:45
Speaker 6: Sounds good you two.
• 9:46
Speaker 5: All right, Let's go back and review Darwin here. Darwin
• 9:49
Speaker 5: is two years old. He's around fifty three pounds he
• 9:52
Speaker 5: is neutered and vaccinated, loves his playgroups and other playful dogs.
• 9:57
Speaker 5: And as you heard Angie Jelvi's story, his hair was
• 9:59
Speaker 5: an app so the mass that was all matted when
• 10:01
Speaker 5: they brought him in there. I saw some of their pictures,
• 10:03
Speaker 5: but they got a groomer that was volunteered to kind
• 10:07
Speaker 5: of help him out. And it's absolutely beautiful dog. A
• 10:09
Speaker 5: little bit of terrier probably, but he's a star dog.
• 10:15
Speaker 5: A star of walker, is what Angie tells me about him.
• 10:17
Speaker 5: He's that he just loves to go on walks. He's
• 10:20
Speaker 5: very very gentle dog, does well with other dogs, loves
• 10:23
Speaker 5: to play. Doesn't know about cats yet, but you know,
• 10:27
Speaker 5: we'll kind of play it by ear. I guess on that.
• 10:29
Speaker 5: But if you'd like to see Darwin's picture again, it's
• 10:32
Speaker 5: posted at Dave Island Radio on Facebook, also the WCCHS

Speaker 5: Though my sister's name is Niki, she spells it n
• 14:35
  Speaker 5: I k k I. Yours is n I c k
• 14:37
  Speaker 5: I E.
• 14:38
Speaker 2: Correct. You are so right. There's many variations.
• 14:41
Speaker 5: There's a lot of a lot of variations.
• 14:43
  Speaker 2: And it's a yeah, it's a powerful name. I've enjoyed
• 14:46
  Speaker 2: it much.
• 14:47
Speaker 5: I was going to say, I thought you were going
• 14:48
Speaker 5: to say, I've had it my whole life.
• 14:49
Speaker 2: Well there's truth to that as well.
• 14:51
Speaker 5: All right, you're your background, your bio.
• 14:53
Speaker 9: So again, Nikki ass of Welsh I am born and
• 14:57
Speaker 9: raised in Charleston, West Virginia, in the East end of
• 14:59
Speaker 9: charles Actually I grew up on a street some of
• 15:02
Speaker 9: you all might be familiar with it.
• 15:04
Speaker 2: It's near Laidley Field called Maxwell Street.
• 15:07
Speaker 9: And now I live on Jackson Street, which is very close.
• 15:12
Speaker 2: It's pretty much right around the corner.
• 15:13
Speaker 9: I was twenty years away and came back because my
• 15:16
Speaker 9: business is here, because my family is here, and life
• 15:19
Speaker 9: just brought me back that being sad having ended up
• 15:23
Speaker 9: in the East end of Charleston again and having remembered
• 15:27
  Speaker 9: remembering what.
• 15:28
Speaker 2: It was like when I was young.
• 15:30
Speaker 9: I just feel like I can make an impact in
• 15:31
Speaker 9: the area in a positive way.
• 15:34
Speaker 5: So that's one of the reasons why you ran for
• 15:36
Speaker 5: city council. What are some of the other reasons? Because
• 15:38
Speaker 5: I mean, you said you're successful business, you want to
• 15:40
Speaker 5: give your business, I'll give you a free plug for
• 15:42
  Speaker 5: your business.
• 15:42
Speaker 2: Oh that's so nice.
• 15:43
Speaker 9: Well, I like to think of myself as a successful
• 15:46
  Speaker 9: female business owner.
• 15:48
  Speaker 2: Chrissy Assif and.
• 15:49
Speaker 9: I are business partners and we own a company called
• 15:51
Speaker 9: n Stitches. We're an apparel decoration shop located in Saint Albans,
• 15:55
Speaker 9: West Virginia, right on a corkor Avenue.
• 15:57
Speaker 5: Okay, all right, So with that having been said, yeah,
• 16:00
Speaker 5: let me with your background, your business owner, whatever. Why
• 16:02
Speaker 5: would you make the decision to want to run for
• 16:04
  Speaker 5: city council.
• 16:05
Speaker 9: Well, like I said, when I came back, I just
• 16:07
Speaker 9: saw a lot of things on the East End of
• 16:09
Speaker 9: Charleston that were a lot different than it used to be.
• 16:12
Speaker 9: Neighbors didn't didn't know each other, streets were filled with
• 16:16
Speaker 9: garbage and trash. There wasn't a pride of place that
• 16:21
Speaker 9: I experienced when I walked around, and I'm a big walker.
• 16:24
Speaker 9: I walk almost daily throughout the neighborhood, and there was
• 16:29
Speaker 9: a vibe that was just missing. And So for that reason,
• 16:32
Speaker 9: like I've said to almost every single person, because I've
• 16:35
Speaker 9: been knocking on a lot of doors and talking to
• 16:37
Speaker 9: a lot of people, I am truly not a politician
• 16:40
Speaker 9: at heart. I'm just somebody that wants to make an impact.
• 16:44
Speaker 9: And because I'm old, I'm fifty five years old.
• 16:46
Speaker 5: Easy now, I saw mine.
• 16:48
Speaker 2: Hey, well that I can call you names, Tod, And
• 16:52
Speaker 2: so because I'm a little older.
• 16:54
Speaker 9: I'm just I see, I'm not afraid to speak up
• 16:56
Speaker 9: and speak out, and so I'm just that person that
• 16:59
Speaker 9: wants to make an impact in a neighborhood and more
• 17:02
Speaker 9: importantly learn as I go, because admittedly not being a politician,
• 17:06
Speaker 9: not being real active in that whole front, in that
• 17:10
Speaker 9: whole sort of political area, I'm learning as I go.
• 17:14
Speaker 9: So since I've decided to throw my hat in, I've
• 17:17
Speaker 9: met with the Charleston Area Alliance to learn about the
• 17:21
Speaker 9: lift project that's going down that's on Rufner Avenue and
• 17:27
Speaker 9: what's the statuses of that. And I was able to
• 17:29
Speaker 9: learn a lot of really great things because I was
• 17:31
Speaker 9: afraid that that project had been put on hold. But
• 17:34
Speaker 9: what I've learned is that there's a lot of positive
• 17:36
Speaker 9: movement in that area. Construction is beginning, and right now
• 17:40
Speaker 9: we're just seeking a really great, strong tenant to occupy that.
• 17:45
Speaker 9: If I remember right, it's either fifty thousand or five
• 17:48
  Speaker 9: hundred thousand.
• 17:48
Speaker 2: Square feet one of those.
• 17:49
Speaker 9: I know there's a big sure from those zeros we
• 17:52
  Speaker 9: could leave one.
• 17:53
Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, so yeah that's great.
• 17:56
Speaker 9: And then I've you know, gone to a cure meeting
• 17:58
Speaker 9: and I've gone to some city count meetings just to
• 18:01
Speaker 9: just to get a better understanding of how things work.
• 18:03
Speaker 5: Now, one of the things about Charleston City Council that
• 18:05
Speaker 5: makes it unique. Number one, it's a ward style government,
• 18:08
Speaker 5: you know, like in some cities around here had that.
• 18:10
Speaker 5: But you got a lot of people in city council,
• 18:12
Speaker 5: I mean Charleston City. You know, city council is so I.
• 18:15
Speaker 2: Saw, so I've learned very well. So I've been told.
• 18:18
Speaker 5: Very large city council. So the things that you talk
• 18:22
Speaker 5: about wanting to do, obviously not only will you be
• 18:24
Speaker 5: working with the mayor, but you're also gonna be working
• 18:26
Speaker 5: with a lot of other council members. How do you work?
• 18:29
Speaker 5: I guess the question would be do you play well
• 18:31
Speaker 5: with others? Do you work well with others?
• 18:33
  Speaker 10: Well?
• 18:33
Speaker 2: It depends on who you ask. If you ask my
• 18:35
Speaker 2: brother John asked if he'd probably say no, okay, but.
• 18:38
Speaker 9: That's pretty standard right with sibling sibling situations. If you
• 18:43
Speaker 9: ask others in the community, people that I work with,
• 18:47
Speaker 9: people that I associate with on a regular base today basis,
• 18:51
Speaker 9: I would say, yes, I do play well with others.
• 18:53
Speaker 9: I think it's really important that we bring unification. I mean,
• 18:57
Speaker 9: I think that unify in front is how we get
• 19:01
  Speaker 9: things done.
• 19:03
Speaker 2: I think that is crucial.
• 19:05
Speaker 9: And you know, it's so interesting because in talking to
• 19:08
Speaker 9: so many people and neighbors in the in the area
• 19:11
Speaker 9: in which I'm in which I want to represent, what
• 19:16
  Speaker 9: I have.
• 19:17
Speaker 2: Really come to is that.
• 19:20
Speaker 9: You know, the East End of Charleston has kind of
• 19:22
Speaker 9: gotten a bad rap. When I tell people that I
• 19:26
Speaker 9: live in the East End, they're horrified. And what's been
• 19:29
Speaker 9: wonderful to see and really grasp and understand now is
• 19:34
  Speaker 9: that when.
• 19:34
Speaker 2: I knock on these doors, it's just like it used
• 19:36
  Speaker 2: to be.
• 19:37
Speaker 9: People are good, people are wonderful, people are family and
• 19:42
Speaker 9: and they're good people.
• 19:44
Speaker 2: I mean, we have a range of from.
• 19:46
Speaker 9: Judges to doctors to you know, hourly workers, and that
• 19:50
  Speaker 9: is how it's always been. It's been a it's been
• 19:52
Speaker 9: a community of diversity both you know, I'm Lebanese, there's
• 19:57
Speaker 9: African American people, there's all there's Italian people, there's Jewish
• 20:01
Speaker 9: people that we all make up this wonderful community. And
• 20:03
Speaker 9: knocking on doors has helped me to remember that this
• 20:06
Speaker 9: community is just made of wonderful people.
• 20:09
Speaker 2: And I believe Dave, I know, are you staring at me?
• 20:11
Speaker 5: Fundy like I believe Jonny Face I have.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, no, Angie Lawrence is here with me.
• 20:17
Speaker 9: Like, here's the thing what I believe, and this is
• 20:20
Speaker 9: the honest to God truth from the bottom of my soul,
• 20:23
Speaker 9: is that if we and I know this sounds like
• 20:25
Speaker 9: such a simple thing, but in the East End where
• 20:27
Speaker 9: I live, there's so many beautiful homes in front porches
• 20:30
Speaker 9: that if we have porch parties again, that we will
• 20:33
Speaker 9: the good will start drowning out the bad, the things
• 20:36
Speaker 9: that people are afraid of. In the East End, that
• 20:39
Speaker 9: light always outshines darkness. It's the whole battle of good
• 20:43
Speaker 9: and evil. And I just am a believer that good's
• 20:45
  Speaker 9: always gonna win.
• 20:46
Speaker 5: Talking to Nikki as of Welchew is running for Charleston
• 20:49
Speaker 5: City Council out of Ward ten. One of the issues
• 20:51
Speaker 5: that Charleston and really all of West Virginia has had
• 20:54
Speaker 5: is the loss of population. Correct, and you and I
• 20:58
Speaker 5: are the same age, but you can remember and Charleston
• 21:00
Speaker 5: had a whole lot more people than what it does now.
• 21:03
Speaker 5: What do you think that that that a city government,
• 21:06
Speaker 5: whether it's counsel or whatever, can do to try to
• 21:09
Speaker 5: get the word out that they people need to come
• 21:11
Speaker 5: to Charleston, whether either for residency or for business or whatever.
• 21:14
  Speaker 2: I love it.
• 21:15
Speaker 9: I love that question, and I think that there are
• 21:17
Speaker 9: so many parts that we can answer it, like so
• 21:20
Speaker 9: many directions we can go. I mean, obviously, tourism is great.
• 21:23
Speaker 9: Our mayor comes from a great tourism background, and I
• 21:26
Speaker 9: think that she's brought back for God and done some
• 21:29
Speaker 9: really wonderful things. And so with that, I don't know
• 21:33
Speaker 9: the statistics, but I know there's multi millions billions of
• 21:36
Speaker 9: dollars being spent, and so I think attracting, you know,
• 21:39
Speaker 9: bringing people into the area. I think we can capitalize
• 21:43
Speaker 9: on all the wonderful things that our state is doing.
• 21:45
Speaker 9: You know, the New River Gorge being a National park.
• 21:49
Speaker 9: It's bringing tons of people to the area. So not
• 21:52
Speaker 9: only tourism, but also I think we just need some
• 21:56
Speaker 9: great campaigns. I think we need the voice to show hey,
• 21:59
Speaker 9: this is a great town, This is a great place
• 22:01
Speaker 9: to raise a family, this is a safe community. Yes,
• 22:05
Speaker 9: we have some little things that go on, but every
• 22:08
  Speaker 9: place does.
• 22:09
Speaker 2: But all in all, you know, Charleston is a good
• 22:12
Speaker 2: it's a good place. It has a river. You know,
• 22:15
Speaker 2: I grew up here. I used to believe that every
• 22:17
Speaker 2: city had this a beautiful river.
• 22:19
Speaker 9: It wasn't until I moved to Columbus, Ohio that I
• 22:22
Speaker 9: was like, wait a second, where's.
• 22:23
Speaker 2: The waterways the river?
• 22:24
  Speaker 6: Right?
• 22:25
Speaker 2: Where are the waterways here? There, and there? It's just
• 22:27
Speaker 2: a whole different vibe.
• 22:28
  Speaker 3: Right.
• 22:30
Speaker 5: So, how's the campaign been so far?
• 22:31
Speaker 9: You know, I've totally totally enjoyed it. What it's forced
• 22:35
Speaker 9: me to do is to get out of my comfort
• 22:36
Speaker 9: zone and to meet people, shake hands with people, and
• 22:39
Speaker 9: really to experience events and Charleston that I otherwise wouldn't.
• 22:42
Speaker 9: Last night, I was lucky enough a friend had invited
• 22:44
Speaker 9: me to go to the the Goodwill seventy fifth annual
• 22:49
Speaker 9: dinner and if I remember right, it was timeless Impact,
• 22:52
Speaker 9: whether it's the theme, and boy was that so inspiring.
• 22:55
Speaker 9: And to allow myself, I think to myself, what have
• 22:59
Speaker 9: I been doing for the last eight years that I've
• 23:01
Speaker 9: been in Charleston, Because to allow myself to experience that
• 23:05
Speaker 9: kind of upliftingness, you know, it's pretty cool. And I
• 23:09
Speaker 9: mean for that, I'm thankful. No matter what happens in
• 23:11
Speaker 9: the election, I'm thankful for that. The one thing, can
• 23:14
Speaker 9: I say one other thing? David So here's the thing.
• 23:17
  Speaker 5: Here's the thing.
• 23:18
Speaker 9: As you said, the primary election is May twelfth for
• 23:22
Speaker 9: this race in War ten. That is such a crucial
• 23:27
Speaker 9: time because in this race there are three candidates running,
• 23:31
Speaker 9: we're all Democrats, and it is during the primary election
• 23:35
Speaker 9: for those that may not be avid voters, but it's
• 23:37
Speaker 9: during that election that your vote can be heard and
• 23:41
Speaker 9: counted and really impact the bottom line. So we need
• 23:44
Speaker 9: you to come out, no matter who you vote for.
• 23:46
Speaker 9: Obviously I want your vote, but just to be there
• 23:50
Speaker 9: and be present. And the cool thing is, since I've
• 23:52
Speaker 9: been knocking on doors, there are two people and this
• 23:54
Speaker 9: is the research I have to do still that really
• 23:57
Speaker 9: want me to help them get registered to vote.
• 23:58
Speaker 2: How cool is that. That's called making an impact? Baby?
• 24:02
  Speaker 2: All right?
• 24:03
Speaker 5: So what are you hearing other than I need you
• 24:05
Speaker 5: to help me to register vote. What are you hearing
• 24:06
Speaker 5: out there from people when you've gone door knocking, or
• 24:08
Speaker 5: you've gone to these different events or whatever. What do
• 24:10
Speaker 5: you hear from the people of the East end of Charleston.
• 24:12
Speaker 2: What have you heard?
• 24:14
Speaker 9: Just out of curiosity, I mean, because you talk to
• 24:16
Speaker 9: so many people campaign, but I'm just so curious to
• 24:18
Speaker 9: know if it's if it's the same because what I
• 24:21
Speaker 9: hear is, you know, what are you doing about the
• 24:22
Speaker 9: trash on the streets? What are you gonna do about
• 24:24
Speaker 9: the homeless situation, What are you gonna do about the population?
• 24:27
Speaker 9: What are you gonna do? What are you gonna do?
• 24:29
Speaker 9: And I'm just not one who likes to promise too much.
• 24:32
Speaker 9: Even in my business. I say, we like to under
• 24:35
Speaker 9: under promise and over deliver. And so what I say
• 24:38
Speaker 9: to that is is that I'm willing to get in,
• 24:41
Speaker 9: roll up my sleeves and see what we can do
• 24:44
Speaker 9: as a team. As we talked earlier about being a
• 24:47
Speaker 9: unified front, a unified effort. Again, what I know, the
• 24:53
Speaker 9: only thing I know one hundred percent is that we've
• 24:56
Speaker 9: been given this beautiful place to live and that it infrastructure.
• 25:02
Speaker 9: It might need some tweaking, but it is here. And
• 25:06
Speaker 9: this is the other part that I know is that
• 25:08
Speaker 9: good always wins. Good always wins. So if we're all
• 25:11
Speaker 9: working together to be better, to be good, then I
• 25:16
Speaker 9: just have to believe that that that'll get us there,
• 25:19
Speaker 9: one step at a time.
• 25:21
Speaker 5: Talking again to a nicky ass of Welsh Welsh who
• 25:23
Speaker 5: is a candidate for Charleston City Council, in Ward ten,
• 25:26
Speaker 5: but Dave Island Show and five Adieline Browns. You inmpirted
• 25:28
Speaker 5: by Pinnacle Consultants, helping to identify environmental concerns including as
• 25:32

• 25:38
Speaker 5: lab services you can trust. Check them out Pinnacle Corp
• 25:40
Speaker 5: dot net helping you understand your environment because what you
• 25:43
Speaker 5: don't know can hurt you. Do you have a website
• 25:45
Speaker 5: or social media or anything you'd like to.
• 25:48
Speaker 9: No website, but I am on Facebook Nicki Assif and
• 25:52
  Speaker 9: that's a double s is and sam e double f
• 25:55
Speaker 9: as in Frank Welsh w.
• 25:57
  Speaker 2: E l s h.
• 25:58
Speaker 9: That's my personal page. But feel free to like me
• 26:01
Speaker 9: and do all that stuff there. Also, I have a
• 26:03
Speaker 9: campaign page. It's campaigned to elect Nicki Assaf Welsh for
• 26:08
Speaker 9: City Council War ten.
• 26:10
Speaker 5: Final thirty was shoing, someone vote for you for city
• 26:13
Speaker 5: council in Ward ten.
• 26:15
Speaker 2: Well, first let me say you don't lie. This did
• 26:17
Speaker 2: go fast. I can't believe it.
• 26:20
Speaker 9: So people should vote for me because born and raised
• 26:24
Speaker 9: in Charleston, understand what it was, what it can be,
• 26:28
Speaker 9: and I do understand the heart and soul of the
• 26:31
Speaker 9: East End. I understand the people that live there, the
• 26:34
Speaker 9: diversity it has both from an ethnic standpoint as well
• 26:38
Speaker 9: as a socioeconomic situation. The other part that I think
• 26:44
Speaker 9: people need to remember and hang on to is that
• 26:49
Speaker 9: that that I know you didn't like this. But I'm
• 26:52
Speaker 9: older and I just have I'm not afraid of others,
• 26:56
Speaker 9: and I do play well with others.
• 26:58
Speaker 2: And because I don't have that sort.
• 26:59
Speaker 9: Of fear, I feel like I can bring people to ease,
• 27:03
Speaker 9: make them feel comfortable, and that.
• 27:05
Speaker 2: We can get something done. We can make things happen,
• 27:07
Speaker 2: and we can get traction.
• 27:08
Speaker 5: For the record, the only reason I said I didn't
• 27:10
Speaker 5: like is because I'm the same age. That's why it's
• 27:12
Speaker 5: minfl What what month were you born in?
• 27:15
Speaker 2: What month were you born in?
• 27:17
  Speaker 5: September?
• 27:18
Speaker 2: Okay, so I'm a little bit on.
• 27:20
Speaker 9: May May first, Happy early birthday.
• 27:23
Speaker 2: Thank you and my cohort here, Angie Lawrence.
• 27:25
Speaker 9: She is born May fourth, and we've been friends since
• 27:28
Speaker 9: second grade. So we've and we've May the fourth be
• 27:32
Speaker 9: with you. We celebrated a lot of birthdays together, Nicky.
• 27:36
Speaker 5: I appreciate you being here.
• 27:37
Speaker 9: Go ahead, one more thing I do want to give
• 27:39
Speaker 9: a huge shout out to my campaign manager, Stacy Angel.
• 27:43
Speaker 9: She has been amazing and coordinating efforts for me, David.
• 27:47
Speaker 9: I think she's the one that actually reached out to you.
• 27:49
Speaker 9: She's set up a lot of meetings for me and
• 27:53
Speaker 9: has been by my side knocking on doors and doing
• 27:55
Speaker 9: different things, and I could not be more grateful.
• 27:57
  Speaker 2: Thank you, Stacy.
• 27:58
Speaker 5: All right, and literally you were noting on doors this
• 28:00
Speaker 5: morning because our office here is closed for a good Friday,
• 28:04
Speaker 5: and I failed because I didn't know that at the time.

• 30:54
Speaker 3: As I said, is we came in.
• 30:55
Speaker 13: President Cays gave me directives to make sure that you
• 30:58
Speaker 13: had a West Virginia state so hopefully we were able
• 31:02
Speaker 13: to deliver on that. And you're sided with the mug,
• 31:04
Speaker 13: so I hopefully see that here on the show here soon.
• 31:07
Speaker 5: So going forward, all guests have to bring at least
• 31:11
Speaker 5: one gift. I mean, is that fair?
• 31:13
  Speaker 3: That's a heart? That's a horror follow to that.
• 31:16
Speaker 5: Now, it's kind of a running joke because I came
• 31:18
Speaker 5: in when I had President Cage on the show a
• 31:21
Speaker 5: couple of years ago. I forget what kind of a
• 31:23
Speaker 5: coffee mug I was drinking out. He said, you need
• 31:25
Speaker 5: a West Virginian state mug, and then he came and
• 31:27
Speaker 5: oddly enough, I am not drinking out of a wester
• 31:29
Speaker 5: Rudinian state mug. Today I got an ESPN radio mug,
• 31:32
Speaker 5: but because of you, I have a nice travel mug now.
• 31:34
Speaker 5: Absolutely absolutely, and we always appreciate our relationship with the
• 31:40
Speaker 5: folks in West Virginia State and Brenda Belinda Fuller. I'm sorry,
• 31:42
Speaker 5: welcome to the show to you as well.
• 31:44
  Speaker 14: Thank you.
• 31:45
Speaker 5: You're a sort time you've been on the show, isn't it?
• 31:46
  Speaker 6: It is?
• 31:47
Speaker 5: Okay? All right, So it's a big night folks, Black
• 31:50
Speaker 5: Time Fair next Friday night. Somebody jump in and.
• 31:53
Speaker 13: Talk about So, you know, at West Virginia State University,
• 31:56
Speaker 13: we're proud that we are celebrating at twelfth annual Black
• 32:01
Speaker 13: and Gold Gala here in Charleston, West Virginia. And for us,
• 32:06
Speaker 13: you know, this is a partnership between West Virginia State
• 32:08
Speaker 13: University and West Virginia State University Foundation to raise critical
• 32:13
Speaker 13: funds for student support, academic programs and also to uh,
• 32:19
Speaker 13: you know, parties of.
• 32:19
Speaker 3: The West Virginia State University.
• 32:21
Speaker 13: For us that we we think this is one of
• 32:24
Speaker 13: the who's of who opportunities to come and celebrate West
• 32:27
Speaker 13: Virginia State University and connecting us. But also it gives
• 32:30
Speaker 13: us an opportunity to invite our alum our community leaders
• 32:34
Speaker 13: and supporters within the area to come and celebrate with us.
• 32:39
Speaker 13: I mean, obviously we make the main thing the main thing,
• 32:41
Speaker 13: which is our students. So Blinna will talk more about,
• 32:45
Speaker 13: you know, what will happen at the event. But I
• 32:48
Speaker 13: do be remiss if I did not acknowledge that we
• 32:51
Speaker 13: do have too wonderful West Virginia State University presidential honorees,
• 32:56
Speaker 13: which will be the late late Katherin Kitty Dooley and
• 33:01
Speaker 13: then mister Tom Haywood. So We're truly excited to honor
• 33:05
Speaker 13: those and I'll talk about that later in the show.
• 33:07
Speaker 5: Okay, and Blinda, you are the assistant vice president of
• 33:10
Speaker 5: Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. Yes, well, so what does
• 33:13
Speaker 5: I mean? Obviously it's in your title, but to explain
• 33:15
Speaker 5: it a little bit more, what does that entail?
• 33:17
Speaker 14: So with alumni relations, we have over ten thousand alums
• 33:23
Speaker 14: right here in the area, so it's trying to communicate
• 33:27
Speaker 14: with them, meet them where they are so we can
• 33:30
Speaker 14: all come back with a yellow Jacket spirit and support
• 33:33
Speaker 14: West Virginia State University. If it's meeting with them to
• 33:38
Speaker 14: see how we can support their way of how they
• 33:42
Speaker 14: want to support the university through voluntarism, and it's just
• 33:47
Speaker 14: really great to see everyone in this area. We're in
• 33:52
Speaker 14: their state paraphernalia, having conversations with them, talking about the
• 33:57
Speaker 14: history of West Virginia State and what that means to
• 33:59
Speaker 14: them and how they would like to give back in
• 34:02
Speaker 14: any way that they would like.
• 34:03
Speaker 5: My son, you know that I had President Cage on
• 34:05
Speaker 5: the show. We talked about that a little bit, about
• 34:07
Speaker 5: that pride that goes along with being a West Virginia
• 34:09
Speaker 5: State alumna. We gets from great universities in the state
• 34:11
Speaker 5: of West Virginia. We all know that, but I've noticed
• 34:14
Speaker 5: a little bit of an extra a little extra pride
• 34:18
Speaker 5: when I talk to West Virginia State. And of course
• 34:21
Speaker 5: we depend a lot on our text line here. Every
• 34:23
Speaker 5: time I have somebody on from State, whether it's whether
• 34:26
Speaker 5: I'm talking to the basketball coach Brian Poorr or President Cage, whatever,
• 34:30
Speaker 5: I always get text to say, proud State, you know,
• 34:33
Speaker 5: graduate of seventy six or eighty five, or whatever the
• 34:35
Speaker 5: case may be. It's like they kind of take that
• 34:38
Speaker 5: yellowjacket pride with them, not to sound like a commercial
• 34:40
Speaker 5: wherever they go, Yes they do.
• 34:42
Speaker 14: And I can go anywhere I wear my state gear
• 34:45
Speaker 14: all over the place, and I'm always having conversations. It
• 34:49
Speaker 14: doesn't matter if I'm in Walmart in the airports. I
• 34:51
Speaker 14: could be in another state and someone will stop me
• 34:54
Speaker 14: and say, hey, I'm a Yellow Jacket too, and we'll
• 34:56
Speaker 14: have a great conversation. And we stay connected with them
• 34:59
Speaker 14: on We send down newsletters so they can stay connected
• 35:02
Speaker 14: with the university. And it's just a wonderful relationship with
• 35:05
  Speaker 14: our alumni.
• 35:06
Speaker 5: And talk about Trey, who we're gonna be honoring again.
• 35:08
Speaker 5: You mentioned Tom Haywood and Kitty Dooley, and I'll tell
• 35:10
Speaker 5: you I had the pleasure of having Kitty Dooley on
• 35:13
Speaker 5: this show a few times. What a fantastic lady.
• 35:15
Speaker 13: She was, such an incredible soul and in a game
• 35:19
Speaker 13: changer and agent change uh here in this community and
• 35:22
Speaker 13: beyond the late Katherin Kitty Dooley, And for us she
• 35:26
Speaker 13: served on our Bord of Governors for a period of
• 35:28
Speaker 13: Tom and we wanted to celebrate her life and legacy
• 35:32
Speaker 13: that she has impacted West Virginia and beyond. And for us,
• 35:35
Speaker 13: we knew, you know, as we look at our presidential
• 35:39
Speaker 13: on the reees, what are great individuals to honor? No
• 35:43
Speaker 13: other than the late Catherine, Kitty Dooley and Tom Haywood.
• 35:46
Speaker 13: And we can't forget Tom Haywood.
• 35:48
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 35:49
Speaker 13: There's not a person uh in the state of West
• 35:51
Speaker 13: Virginia that Tom Haywood do not know or they know him.
• 35:55
Speaker 13: So Tom Haywood is an incredible individual, one that Lee's
• 35:59
Speaker 13: would love with passion, as he will always say, he's
• 36:02
  Speaker 13: doing God's work.
• 36:04
Speaker 3: So we're truly decided to honor him.
• 36:06
Speaker 13: He is our Capitol campaign culchair, which he has given
• 36:10
Speaker 13: incredible Tom resources and his talent to be able to
• 36:14
Speaker 13: elevate strength and sustain West Virginia State University. And for
• 36:17
Speaker 13: us to be able to do this, and during our
• 36:19
Speaker 13: Black and Gold Gala, I think this is a tremendous
• 36:21
Speaker 13: honor to bring both Tom family and Katherine Kitty Dooley's
• 36:26
Speaker 13: family to the table and celebrate them in the building.
• 36:29
Speaker 3: And because we are not West Virginia State without Tom
• 36:32
Speaker 3: and Kitty. And that's plain except we're just not West
• 36:36
  Speaker 3: Virginia State.
• 36:36
Speaker 13: We're not the elevated brand, We're not raising resources or
• 36:40
Speaker 13: have the infrastructure if it wasn't for Tom and Kitty.
• 36:42
Speaker 5: All Right, I told you we always get these texts
• 36:45
Speaker 5: text day West Virginia State nineteen seventy six prepared me
• 36:48
Speaker 5: for a highly successful thirty seven year educational and sales career.
• 36:52
Speaker 5: Great instructors of staff, Thank you. West Virginia State University.
• 36:55
Speaker 5: Never found that's wonderful, absolutely can you guys hear a
• 36:58
Speaker 5: lot of stories like that, a lot of daughter states
• 37:01
Speaker 5: that have gone on to incredible things, not only here
• 37:05
Speaker 5: in West Virginia here in the Kenaal Valley, but all
• 37:06
Speaker 5: over the country and all over the world. I know,
• 37:08
Speaker 5: you guess some good stories.
• 37:09
Speaker 14: Yes, you know, when we hear things like that from
• 37:12
Speaker 14: our alumni, you know, we reach out to them and
• 37:15
Speaker 14: talk with them. You know, some things that they would
• 37:17
Speaker 14: like to do is come back and talk to with
• 37:19
Speaker 14: our students. You know, they have professions that they were
• 37:22
Speaker 14: very successful in and they want to come back and
• 37:23
Speaker 14: share that story and help mentor our students. So there's
• 37:27
Speaker 14: an opportunity for them to continue with that once we
• 37:30
Speaker 14: hear those stories, and it's just a beautiful thing.
• 37:33
  Speaker 1: Again.
• 37:33
Speaker 5: We're talking to Trey Jones, who's the vice president for
• 37:36
Speaker 5: University Advancement, and also Belinda Fuller, who is Assistant vice
• 37:39
Speaker 5: president and Alumni of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at
• 37:43
Speaker 5: West Virginia State University. You got this big event, this
• 37:45
Speaker 5: happening next Friday night, and man, this is it's a big,
• 37:49
  Speaker 5: beautiful event.
• 37:51
Speaker 13: Absolutely, it is a big, beautiful event. And one of
• 37:54
Speaker 13: the things for us is our team does a tremendous job.
• 37:58
Speaker 13: And I'll say I've been a leader of the Investment Department.
• 38:01
Speaker 13: I'm always pleased and happy about the product that we produce.
• 38:05
Speaker 13: But then also to seeing the collaboration across campus, being
• 38:09
Speaker 13: able to see the planning committee and blend the leading
• 38:11
Speaker 13: that planning committee. I'm glad of the work that we
• 38:14
Speaker 13: have seen and ready for you know, April, uh, next
• 38:18
Speaker 13: next Friday, April tenth. And and as a toll Blenna
• 38:20
Speaker 13: a couple of days ago, once five o'clock here, Hey,
• 38:23
  Speaker 13: it's all game.
• 38:26
Speaker 5: And this has been this is this event is one
• 38:29
Speaker 5: of those uh that people really look forward to every year,
• 38:32
Speaker 5: and and and and the Colosseum always looks great. The
• 38:36
Speaker 5: folks with you and the Colosseum that work together to
• 38:38
  Speaker 5: put these things on. It's a it's always a it's
• 38:40
Speaker 5: always a big night. It's like red carpet night here
• 38:41
  Speaker 5: in Charleston.
• 38:42
  Speaker 13: Absolutely, I mean, I'm pretty sure there's a lot of
• 38:45
Speaker 13: alteration places. I'm sure, Tony Taylor, I'm sure there's all
• 38:48
Speaker 13: of a lot of other places that get a lot
• 38:50
Speaker 13: of business during this time because you know who's who,
• 38:53
Speaker 13: and they try to dress the Impress and h look
• 38:55
Speaker 13: at such a wonderful and delicate way at our black
• 38:58
Speaker 13: and gold gala. And obviously we're just decited to celebrate.
• 39:02
Speaker 13: And as I said, Ballina and her team has done
• 39:04
Speaker 13: a great job and planning committee to be able to
• 39:07
Speaker 13: get us to this point. And we'll obviously talk more
• 39:11
Speaker 13: about what is happening at the event.
• 39:12
Speaker 5: All right, So what about tickets? I mean the saying
• 39:17
Speaker 5: when should people plan on getting their tickets? I mean,
• 39:19
Speaker 5: I know, because they go quickly. I mean, we still
• 39:21
Speaker 5: have tickets available everything, right, we do, okay, all right,
• 39:24
Speaker 5: so as soon as you can, yeah, well the next
• 39:26
Speaker 5: couple of days, where can people get tickets?
• 39:27
Speaker 14: They can get tickets on our website. Probably the easiest
• 39:30
Speaker 14: way to get there is go to the university website
• 39:32
Speaker 14: and go to the gala tab. So that's wvs WVSTATEU
• 39:38
Speaker 14: dot edu. You could just google West Virginia State University
• 39:41
Speaker 14: and you'll get to our main page and then you
• 39:42
Speaker 14: can get to our gala page through there all.
• 39:45
Speaker 5: Right. Now, the event is going to be next Friday night,
• 39:47
Speaker 5: starts around six o'clock and one of the things I
• 39:50
Speaker 5: was reading on your website said six to ten. But
• 39:52
  Speaker 5: I have a feeling it's going to go a little
• 39:54
Speaker 5: bit fast ten because it's a big party, right train.
• 39:56
Speaker 3: Yes, is a big party.
• 39:57
Speaker 13: And one of the things that we will will be
• 40:00
Speaker 13: doing is is connecting our students to our sponsors. You know,
• 40:03
Speaker 13: one of the more important thing for us is highlighting
• 40:06
Speaker 13: our students, putting them on the platform, and our sponsors,
• 40:09
Speaker 13: you know, are there to connect with our students, and
• 40:13
Speaker 13: our job is to educate our students but then also
• 40:17
Speaker 13: send them out to be like the alumni that just
• 40:19
Speaker 13: reached out to you and have a long career and
• 40:22
Speaker 13: job in the industry.
• 40:23
Speaker 3: And then also to.
• 40:25
Speaker 13: UH, as I said, you know, the team will do
• 40:28
Speaker 13: a great job of silent auction. And then also to UH,
• 40:31
Speaker 13: we will have big entertainment with Bob Thompson in the
• 40:35
Speaker 13: unit bend and also to we'll have EJ to DJ
• 40:39
Speaker 13: to UH get us through to night too Heavy anytime
• 40:43
Speaker 13: you can have Bob Thompson somewhere, and of course dj
• 40:47
Speaker 13: AJ does a great job as well.
• 40:48
Speaker 5: We do a lot of events with him. Uh So,
• 40:50
Speaker 5: go to the website and get you tickets and run
• 40:53
Speaker 5: down to Tony the Taylor whomever who and I say
• 40:58
Speaker 5: that sponsors anybody, go get get to get your outfits
• 41:03
Speaker 5: all ready to go because it's gonna be a great
• 41:04
Speaker 5: night at West Virginia State, you know, for West Virginia
• 41:06
Speaker 5: State University, at the Coliseuman Convenment Center.
• 41:08
Speaker 14: Absolutely for ship six with the cocktail reception and then
• 41:12
Speaker 14: we'll move one down. We have a sound auction, We
• 41:14
Speaker 14: have trips to Greece, we have golf trips at Myrtle Beach,
• 41:19
Speaker 14: take us from you know, CRW. Lots of things that
• 41:22
Speaker 14: you can go and bid on, so it's a fun night.
• 41:25
Speaker 14: Then we have dinner, and then we're going to end
• 41:27
Speaker 14: a night with a big party like you said with
• 41:29
  Speaker 14: dj EJ.
• 41:30
Speaker 5: All Right, Trey Jones, Vice President for University Advancement at

Speaker 5: The reason that we don't have a dog, though, is

Speaker 5: because our lives are really not very conducive to having

Speaker 5: All right, This was Amanda's idea, not that I fought

Speaker 5: her too hard on it, to be honest with you,
• 48:41
Speaker 5: During the lent and season, we have been focusing on

• 48:54
Speaker 5: And so with this being Good Friday, headed into the
• 48:56
Speaker 5: Easter weekend, Amanda got the idea, well, how about if
• 48:59
Speaker 5: we talk peanut butter eggs And we found a church
• 49:02
Speaker 5: right here in the Canal Valley that is churning out
• 49:06

• 49:57
Speaker 5: in Charleston the day after Memorial Day and in twenty twenty.
• 50:05
Speaker 5: What a time to start doing a talk show. I mean,
• 50:08
Speaker 5: we were just a couple of months into COVID, Trump
• 50:11
Speaker 5: and Biden, so on and so forth. But I I've
• 50:18
Speaker 5: enjoyed the show, I really have, and don't plan on

• 50:26
Speaker 5: I enjoyed the show. I really do. And I think
• 50:28
Speaker 5: one of the things that people seem to like about
• 50:31
Speaker 5: the show, the ones that do like it and two
• 50:33
Speaker 5: or three that do like it, is the fact that
• 50:34
Speaker 5: I kind of have an open door policy here, and
• 50:37
Speaker 5: I do get a lot of folks saying, well, why
• 50:39
Speaker 5: do you have this person on? And you can just
• 50:41
Speaker 5: fill in name here, Why do you have this part?
• 50:43
Speaker 5: Why do you well, because they asked, that's the number
• 50:45
Speaker 5: one reason. And I believe in free speech. And I
• 50:49
Speaker 5: have guests on the program all the time that I
• 50:50
Speaker 5: don't always agree with, but we have a good dialogue,
• 50:53
Speaker 5: and I have folks on the air that I do
• 50:55
Speaker 5: agree with from time to time.
• 50:57
  Speaker 3: Too.
• 50:57
Speaker 5: Real quick, the problems continue for the Dimmerocratic Party in
• 51:00
Speaker 5: West Virginia. Story posted this morning wv Metronews Dot com.
• 51:03
Speaker 5: The Republican Party is out with the statement about their numbers,
• 51:06
Speaker 5: and according to that, in February and March of this year,
• 51:10
Speaker 5: the Republican Party in the state added three thy eight
• 51:12
Speaker 5: hundred and forty two new voters, while the Democrat numbers
• 51:17
Speaker 5: continue to decline. Also, the number of unaffiliated voters and
• 51:23
Speaker 5: the others category going down as well. And I think
• 51:26
Speaker 5: the reason for that is is that maybe, you know,
• 51:29
Speaker 5: the Republicans close their primary, and possibly some people are
• 51:33
Speaker 5: getting the message that if you are an independent that
• 51:36
Speaker 5: normally votes Republican, ask for a Republican ballot, you are
• 51:40
Speaker 5: not going to be able to do that in the
• 51:42
Speaker 5: primary election. So for they switch parties, maybe they go back,
• 51:47
Speaker 5: maybe they they don't. I have stated for the record
• 51:51
Speaker 5: that I think they made a mistake, but that's just me. TJ.
• 51:54
Speaker 5: Meadows is here, Hey doing my friend made a big mistake. Yeah, okay,
• 51:57
Speaker 5: big mistake. It'll come back to Hanam, maybe not this election.
• 52:00
Speaker 10: I think it'll eventually come back, because you're not seeing
• 52:03
Speaker 10: the independent roles drop. Actually they did, but not by much,
• 52:07
Speaker 10: not by much, by not by much. And I don't
• 52:09
Speaker 10: think people will give it up. I think maybe some
• 52:10
Speaker 10: people they go over the vote in the primary, come back,
• 52:13
  Speaker 10: I don't know.
• 52:14
Speaker 5: We'll see who knows all right. Meadows and Wilson coming
