- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, what up, y'all?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Welcome to put you on the show where I tell
- 0:04Speaker 2: you the stars that shall be, and I am lucky
- 0:08Speaker 2: to be sitting next to one of the stars that
- 0:11Speaker 2: will be, Joshua Neil. Josh is an actor, he's a rapper.
- 0:17Speaker 2: He's a model. Have you been booked yet?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Not really. He's amazingly handsome, thank you.
- 0:22Speaker 2: He's got tattoos and muscles, so I feel like modeling
- 0:25Speaker 2: is on the way. Now. Before we get into the interview,
- 0:27Speaker 2: I must tell you, guys, me and Josh's relationship start
- 0:31Speaker 2: off with beef. Bet I'll tell you what happened now.
- 0:39Speaker 2: If you know me, you know I love to post.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Other creators who make me laugh are amazing talented singers, musicians, whatever.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Josh's video where he was like, I think he was
- 0:50Speaker 2: like when you go to a rock concert.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, he's humping. Yeah, he's got the guitar. I
- 0:57Speaker 1: loved it.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It was I watched it probably twenty times, downloaded off
- 1:01Speaker 2: of TikTok, and obviously go to share to Twitter search
- 1:04Speaker 2: for Josh's name, it doesn't come up on Twitter.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Nowhere to be found, Nowhere to be found. I wasn't
- 1:09Speaker 1: really noted like, I wasn't. I wasn't out there. Most
- 1:12Speaker 1: people aren't.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Most people they're on TikTok, they're on Instagram are usually
- 1:16Speaker 2: the one two they're less and less on Twitter is
- 1:19Speaker 2: the usually the least likely they'll be on Twitter and
- 1:22Speaker 2: YouTube they're the least likely to beyond and Facebook. Even more,
- 1:25Speaker 2: they're almost always on Instagram always. So I didn't tag
- 1:28Speaker 2: him because I didn't find the name, and I searched
- 1:31Speaker 2: the TikTok name, but his Twitter name and his TikTok
- 1:34Speaker 2: name were different.
- 1:35Speaker 1: They were at the time. I don't know.
- 1:36Speaker 3: They still like that Instagram and Twitter are the same, Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 1:40Speaker 3: so I tagged. I just posts, right, Josh finds.
- 1:45Speaker 4: The video and he's like big creators still in the
- 1:49Speaker 4: content from the little guys.
- 1:51Speaker 1: They're not tagging us. I was hot, cav, you knows better.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I was like, I didn't. I did search.
- 1:59Speaker 2: So people people, so they're going at me, not really
- 2:01Speaker 2: going at me, like why are you intags? I'm like,
- 2:03Speaker 2: you know what Josh is?
- 2:05Speaker 1: Right? Yeah, I remember, I remember Josh. I did search.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But at that point, I'm like, you know whatever, he
- 2:12Speaker 2: doesn't want to hear that I searched. I don't want
- 2:15Speaker 2: to be like, well, what you should have done is
- 2:16Speaker 2: had the same name, and that's not the right thing
- 2:19Speaker 2: to say. I said, you know what, Josh, You're right,
- 2:21Speaker 2: that's my bad.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Did I remember? I'll do better?
- 2:23Speaker 2: And I also hate like when you I just I
- 2:25Speaker 2: don't hate. But I know if you, like are not
- 2:27Speaker 2: on Twitter, there's really no point of attacking a TikTok
- 2:30Speaker 2: person because the TikTok in my mind is Watermark. You'm like,
- 2:35Speaker 2: go find it, like you can't hyper Lincoln, but his
- 2:38Speaker 2: name is there.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I remember.
- 2:39Speaker 2: That's what I'm trying to hear it from your side,
- 2:43Speaker 2: What was it like when you when you saw Okay?
- 2:46Speaker 3: So, first of all, I've been a huge fan of
- 2:47Speaker 3: yours since I was doing like skits in church like
- 2:51Speaker 3: forever forever you No, I was like yo, like okay.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So first I promised to God and God is my witness.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I never meant to because it was on my story.
- 3:02Speaker 3: I posted it on my story. I never meant to
- 3:04Speaker 3: post it on my story. I ranted about it in
- 3:07Speaker 3: my car, but in my mind I was just like,
- 3:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna just exit out, like but I think I
- 3:13Speaker 3: just you know, boom hit it right. But anyways, I
- 3:16Speaker 3: think you got me on a bad day.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Bro. I'm not even gonna lie to you. At the time,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I was putting in real work. I'm doing real work, bro.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Like imagine like you know how like how mad drug
- 3:24Speaker 3: dealers are on TV shows and they're putting in mad
- 3:26Speaker 3: work and they just.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Like, we're not taking over, Bro, We're not We're not
- 3:29Speaker 1: doing this.
- 3:29Speaker 3: But I felt like that at the time, and I
- 3:32Speaker 3: think at the day that I was just like, man,
- 3:34Speaker 3: I'm not really getting paid. I'm not really getting like
- 3:36Speaker 3: rity freaking out. People started hitting me like yo, kevl
- 3:41Speaker 3: Stage posted your video. I'm like, god, this is good.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Like the day that I was so down, I was like,
- 3:48Speaker 3: kevil Stage supposed to me.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But I'm like, why.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Y'all telling me though, like I should have my notification
- 3:55Speaker 3: should be going up crazy right now, because you know,
- 3:56Speaker 3: like when somebody would post your video notifications.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I didn't know.
- 4:02Speaker 3: What, like what my stuff ain't going crazy. So I
- 4:05Speaker 3: go to your page. I'm looking at it. Comic is
- 4:08Speaker 3: going crazy. And you know, sometimes I'm not saying you
- 4:11Speaker 3: was doing doing this. But now, like all block pages
- 4:13Speaker 3: if they post my video no tag, I just block
- 4:15Speaker 3: them because I'm like you're just using my video for
- 4:18Speaker 3: your algorithm, Like but whatever, And I saw no tag.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I was like Kep on stage, the man that I've
- 4:26Speaker 1: been like watching for so long for the church, like me.
- 4:29Speaker 3: No hero, no tag, not you not you kept and
- 4:36Speaker 3: then and then I remember when I posted it, like
- 4:39Speaker 3: you hit me up. It was just like you're right,
- 4:40Speaker 3: I should have I should have I should have I
- 4:42Speaker 3: should have tagged you, blah blah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: But I wasn't like seriously angry. I was like bothered.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But I wasn't like angry angry, you know what I mean,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I hate this. It wasn't like like that. But I
- 4:54Speaker 1: remember that day.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I have even if somebody's not on Twitter. Often every
- 5:00Speaker 2: time I'll put and sometimes you don't even know. Yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 2: sometimes you don't even know. That's when I changed my name,
- 5:05Speaker 2: is it really is?
- 5:06Speaker 3: When I made my like Twitter and my Instagram name
- 5:10Speaker 3: the same, thank you because I yeah. And then I
- 5:13Speaker 3: didn't change the TikTok because it was just the josh
- 5:15Speaker 3: Neil like I think Joshua and Neil.
- 5:16Speaker 1: That's what it was. Yeah, but it was taken, so
- 5:18Speaker 1: I still can't change it. But I was all right,
- 5:20Speaker 1: I just keep it this way.
- 5:21Speaker 2: So anyway, let's go all the way back, right that
- 5:24Speaker 2: ain't before content creation. If you guys don't know, Josh
- 5:27Speaker 2: was a D one athlete. He was at the University
- 5:32Speaker 2: of Oklahoma, which if you're not familiar with football, uh
- 5:37Speaker 2: not only is D one the highest level. You have
- 5:39Speaker 2: what's called the Power five conferences. Of the Power five conferences,
- 5:43Speaker 2: the SEC and probably the Big twelve and the Pac
- 5:46Speaker 2: twelve or probably the three biggest.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Conferences, those championship, those champions.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Are usually gonna be in the conversation for the national
- 5:55Speaker 2: champions Yeah right. If you're in the other two Power
- 5:57Speaker 2: five maybe Clemson and and I don't even know what
- 6:00Speaker 2: the other power from, Yeah right, the top of those
- 6:05Speaker 2: conferences have a chance. And Oklahoma and Texas are at
- 6:08Speaker 2: the top of the Big twelve have been for the
- 6:09Speaker 2: last ten to fifteen years. Oklahoma's been I'm a Texas fan,
- 6:13Speaker 2: and Oklahoma's been.
- 6:14Speaker 1: This year. They're real y in Alabama in Alabama, very
- 6:18Speaker 1: real this year when you were Sarkisian marit to a
- 6:20Speaker 1: black woman. Absolutely, they're real.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Last year too, they were real got hurt, you know
- 6:24Speaker 2: what I'm saying. But we're back, ye, black women gonna
- 6:26Speaker 2: get your rack used to coach that you dubbed my ALU.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So Oklahoma is a very good team, right, they won
- 6:33Speaker 2: national champions So tell us like, if you played at
- 6:35Speaker 2: that level and I played JV four years, what I'm
- 6:37Speaker 2: saying didn't get recruited highly?
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but you went to D one. What was that like?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Did you feel like your career was going further? Like?
- 6:44Speaker 1: What was that like for you?
- 6:46Speaker 3: Okay, first of all, let me clarify. That's because I'm
- 6:47Speaker 3: gonna come clean. I don't want to come off like
- 6:49Speaker 3: a liar.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Okay, Okay. I in high school, I was a dog,
- 6:52Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I was nice.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And then I went to junior college at San Francisco City,
- 6:56Speaker 3: and then I had a scholarship offered the Missouri This
- 6:58Speaker 3: is crazy, hop defence, my sophomore year of my junior
- 7:01Speaker 3: college year, I tore my finger up. That's why my
- 7:02Speaker 3: middle fingers still like messed up.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Oh really yeah? So I was like, yeah, thirteen stages right, woo,
- 7:07Speaker 1: that looks painful.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it was very painful. So I lost out on
- 7:12Speaker 3: that offer to Missouri. So I had a scholarship offer
- 7:13Speaker 3: the University.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Of Missouri because the injury you lost out.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I lost out on it because they wanted to see
- 7:17Speaker 3: my first three games of the season. If they liked
- 7:19Speaker 3: what they saw, they were going to offer me a scholarship.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Exact conversation I had with the coach. Tore my finger up,
- 7:23Speaker 3: missed my last eight games, so only got to play
- 7:26Speaker 3: like three games of my last year at junior college
- 7:29Speaker 3: and I graduated the semester early, so I was very like,
- 7:32Speaker 3: it was a hard time.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I had a cousin of mind. His name is Damian Mackie.
- 7:36Speaker 3: He played at University of Oklahoma in two thousand and one
- 7:38Speaker 3: win a championship.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Still knew coach students stoops in him. And then a.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Scout had came to San Francisco City and saw me
- 7:45Speaker 3: play and was just like they were pretty much just like,
- 7:47Speaker 3: if he gets into the school academically, will invite him
- 7:51Speaker 3: to walk on. So I got into the school, you
- 7:52Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And then and I walked on
- 7:55Speaker 3: to university history.
- 7:56Speaker 1: So it was cool. It was fun. But let me
- 7:59Speaker 1: tell tell you why it's not worth it if you're
- 8:01Speaker 1: not going to the NFL. Okay, I love this, Please
- 8:04Speaker 1: tell me D one football is the most crucially the hardest,
- 8:11Speaker 1: most debilitating self esteem killing it it was. It was
- 8:17Speaker 1: the hardest thing I ever did.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm talking five forty five am workouts. By six o'clock,
- 8:22Speaker 3: you're sweating bullets, We're running up parking lot ramps. No rest,
- 8:26Speaker 3: it's one hundred and twelve degrees outside, you know.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Uh.
- 8:31Speaker 3: And then I broke my wrist the first day of practice.
- 8:33Speaker 3: What it's crazy. It was crazy. It was wild, right,
- 8:36Speaker 3: it was crazy. But the only thing that was like
- 8:40Speaker 3: that sucks about being injured as well. If you get
- 8:42Speaker 3: injured and it's not your leg, once you do your
- 8:44Speaker 3: morning workout, so I was in the cast, still do
- 8:46Speaker 3: the workouts.
- 8:47Speaker 1: When you do the morning.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Workout before you later in the day, before you can
- 8:52Speaker 3: just sit and watch practice, you have to do another
- 8:54Speaker 3: workout then you can chill and watch practice.
- 8:57Speaker 2: So I'm going to work while in truth, yes, so
- 9:01Speaker 2: hand injuries are just like don't matter in the cast,
- 9:03Speaker 2: do matter, but you.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Do need your hands to play football.
- 9:05Speaker 3: I've seen people play with the club on no facts,
- 9:07Speaker 3: but I was a receiver. I had so look so
- 9:10Speaker 3: they just had me doing lower bodies. So I had
- 9:12Speaker 3: to do lower body workouts before I could just chill
- 9:14Speaker 3: and watch practice.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Because I was injured.
- 9:15Speaker 3: So you do your morning workout and then you do
- 9:17Speaker 3: another one in the day and then you can chill.
- 9:20Speaker 3: I promised to God. I was lunging as God as
- 9:24Speaker 3: my witness. Two hundred and forty five pounds lunging three
- 9:28Speaker 3: set to ten each leg easy easy work too easy?
- 9:33Speaker 1: One what easy? Easily?
- 9:35Speaker 2: No?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Lie, they don't get you a big bar with a big.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Bar easy, no, no, no difficulties lunging. And I'm not lying.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I'm talking about lunching. I don't believe you're lying.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I just lunging because the thought of that.
- 9:46Speaker 2: I tore my acl in serious, you know what I'm saying,
- 9:49Speaker 2: just thinking about doing this.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Tour it and then because I had it on for
- 9:55Speaker 3: about three and a half months, I broke a very
- 9:57Speaker 3: small bone in my wrist. And to my knowledge, the
- 9:59Speaker 3: smaller the bone you break, the longer it takes the
- 10:02Speaker 3: hill because of like blood circulation. The bigger the bone
- 10:04Speaker 3: you break the faster. So it was it was cool,
- 10:07Speaker 3: but you know, midway through the season, I was like,
- 10:12Speaker 3: I don't want to play football anymore.
- 10:14Speaker 1: The school is great, the girls are really beautiful. This
- 10:17Speaker 1: is awesome. I'm saved now more, I'm more safe now.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And and.
- 10:30Speaker 1: But I was.
- 10:30Speaker 3: I remember just being like, I don't really want to
- 10:33Speaker 3: play football anymore. And I was I was already acting
- 10:35Speaker 3: in high school and like in junior college and stuff.
- 10:38Speaker 3: And I had a friend's names Austin Williams. We met
- 10:40Speaker 3: at junior college. He was the first person to tell
- 10:41Speaker 3: me like, bro, you're gonna You're gonna be an actor,
- 10:44Speaker 3: Like You're just gonna be an actor. And I was like,
- 10:46Speaker 3: I'm going to league. Yeah, I'll be an actor after,
- 10:49Speaker 3: but you know, once I get this league check, all right,
- 10:52Speaker 3: I'll come back. And then things end up working out.
- 10:56Speaker 3: And I always loved acting, and I ended up calling
- 11:01Speaker 3: my mind. I was really down one day. I just
- 11:03Speaker 3: I was at Oklahoma. It was like midway through the season.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I was not playing obviously, I was a junior at
- 11:10Speaker 3: redshirt junior, and I was just like, I want to
- 11:14Speaker 3: be an actor, Like I want to pursue acting instead.
- 11:17Speaker 1: And then I went to the movies. This is always
- 11:20Speaker 1: people always.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Say this is like kind of corny, but it was like,
- 11:23Speaker 3: this is what I want to do.
- 11:23Speaker 1: A moment for me at that time.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Uh, I want to say, lottery ticket had just come.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Out, bronig Yes Jackson, Yes, Brandity Jackson. This is when
- 11:35Speaker 1: brendit T Jackson was scorchy. He had scorchy. He has
- 11:39Speaker 1: a jaw ruled like three or four. A lot of
- 11:41Speaker 1: people noticed.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I think people laughing at him, but that nigga
- 11:44Speaker 2: really was really out here and he.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Was really acting. I remember thunder Percy Jackson killing. He
- 11:51Speaker 1: was the goat on there. He was getting everything.
- 11:53Speaker 3: He Bandity Jackson was the guy I remember, just like
- 11:55Speaker 3: it was Yester, I don't care nobody saying. And I
- 12:00Speaker 3: remember seeing that movie and for me, it was like
- 12:03Speaker 3: I could be on a movie like this, you know
- 12:05Speaker 3: what I'm saying. I was like, I can be on
- 12:06Speaker 3: a movie like this. And I remember calling my mom
- 12:09Speaker 3: and I was like, I want to be an actor.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I'm leaving this school after this semester's over. Like I
- 12:15Speaker 3: was gonna quit the team midseason. But my boy, Tony,
- 12:18Speaker 3: his name is Tony Jefferson, what's up, bro? He was like, no,
- 12:20Speaker 3: I don't quit, bro, just like just just last through
- 12:23Speaker 3: the season. Because you get to go to a ball
- 12:25Speaker 3: game and you get like ball gifts and you get
- 12:26Speaker 3: all this money and stuff like that. So I was
- 12:28Speaker 3: like Okay, you're right, like I'll say. But I started
- 12:31Speaker 3: like not showing up to practice. Sometimes they didn't even notice. Really,
- 12:35Speaker 3: I promise a god, they don't care about walk on.
- 12:37Speaker 1: They don't care.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Didn't even notice though, not one, not one time, did
- 12:41Speaker 3: not notice me, Like how does that feel?
- 12:43Speaker 1: I started coming to practice like once.
- 12:45Speaker 2: A week, I should tell you everything you should know
- 12:51Speaker 2: about your chance of going to the league. Listen, they
- 12:53Speaker 2: know if you missed practice and they don't notice, the
- 12:56Speaker 2: probably it.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Does not matter. I was showing up like one's like a.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Hundred kids though, Like if you don't know my boy
- 13:01Speaker 2: played for you dub only certain amount can dress and
- 13:04Speaker 2: like and done, yes, especially travel, but on the team
- 13:08Speaker 2: there's like a hundred people.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I have a story.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I suit it up one time at a home game
- 13:13Speaker 3: for Texas Tech, because you don't have to suit up
- 13:15Speaker 3: if you.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Don't want to. If you're walking, what are you doing?
- 13:17Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 13:17Speaker 1: I'm just an extra here.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I'm just feeling in the sideline and in Oklahoma is
- 13:21Speaker 3: too hot or too cold to be sitting there right.
- 13:24Speaker 3: So one day I decided to show up. I was like,
- 13:25Speaker 3: you know what, I'm gonna dress up you know what
- 13:27Speaker 3: I'm saying. I do the warm ups.
- 13:28Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 13:28Speaker 3: First of all, this is how much they didn't care
- 13:30Speaker 3: if I didn't play. They didn't even put air in
- 13:35Speaker 3: my helmet cushions in my game helmet. It's just no
- 13:40Speaker 3: air in there, like it gave me to be as
- 13:43Speaker 3: high as it was like a prop.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 13:47Speaker 3: And so and then it was really cold. This is
- 13:50Speaker 3: when it was getting colder. So it's it's on the sideline.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Were talking like it's about forty forty two, like who
- 13:57Speaker 1: it's like not super.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Super cold, the very cool and Ohoman has that cold
- 14:03Speaker 2: win because it's just like.
- 14:04Speaker 3: The breeze is crazy, but they have heaters on the sideline, right,
- 14:10Speaker 3: the walk ones. We caught ourselves the Buds because the
- 14:14Speaker 3: coaches never knew our names.
- 14:16Speaker 1: They always they always just say, oh, nice to meet you,
- 14:18Speaker 1: but like good job. But like, we caught ourselves the Buds, right,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and it got kind of popular to the point where
- 14:25Speaker 1: some of the players wanted to and he was like,
- 14:27Speaker 1: you're not a bud bro coach, know you watch out?
- 14:29Speaker 3: B Right, caught ourselves the Buds, and they wouldn't let
- 14:34Speaker 3: us stand by the heater. Only the players that play
- 14:40Speaker 3: you no, And I remember trying to school close and
- 14:44Speaker 3: like get my hand, and the coaches.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Like everybody moved. Everybody moved right now, get away if
- 14:48Speaker 1: you're not playing, get away from the heater. And it
- 14:50Speaker 1: was like, yo, bro, that's great, that's why. Yeah, the
- 14:53Speaker 1: only players deserved warmth. Only players. That is one. I
- 14:56Speaker 1: could see a football coach stating that.
- 14:59Speaker 2: With without without taking your breath, you deserve cold.
- 15:03Speaker 1: Yeah, like with the heat for my dog.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Only the people that literally are the reason why I'm
- 15:07Speaker 3: like keeping my job, I promise to God. Like football
- 15:11Speaker 3: culture in college is brutal to the points where I
- 15:14Speaker 3: was like, if I get married and have kids, like
- 15:17Speaker 3: that's the only sport I'm not letting them play. Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 3: and I love football, I get it, but you're not
- 15:21Speaker 3: playing football. You can play any other sport except that.
- 15:25Speaker 3: And I'm like a football is everything. But yeah, And
- 15:29Speaker 3: coaches like, if you know kids or they get recruited,
- 15:33Speaker 3: understand that, like.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Their job is to keep their job. And if your
- 15:42Speaker 1: kid is going to be.
- 15:43Speaker 3: The reason why they why they can keep that job,
- 15:47Speaker 3: it is about your kid for their job, Like they
- 15:50Speaker 3: don't really care about these kids.

- 16:40Speaker 2: yours And now back to the show.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And so I think that was something that really like
- 16:45Speaker 3: opened my eyes just being around a big D one
- 16:49Speaker 3: program And it's not personal towards the program, the coaches,
- 16:52Speaker 3: but it's just a business.
- 16:54Speaker 1: It really is a business.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And at that level for that school. That's a if
- 16:59Speaker 2: not one hundred million, close to one hundred million dollar business.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Texas I know is like one hundred million,
- 17:04Speaker 2: and if Oklahoma's probably eighty if not a hun I.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Think the NCAA makes like six point two billion a years.
- 17:09Speaker 1: It's something.
- 17:10Speaker 2: And they just started cutting niggas in like two years,
- 17:13Speaker 2: and they're mad about it.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They're like set and the pot is this.
- 17:18Speaker 2: They're like, all they're asking for is let us make
- 17:21Speaker 2: our own brand, like when you sell my jersey.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And they're like, oh my god, bro, why do you
- 17:25Speaker 1: y'all want to make money? Why we give you an education?
- 17:28Speaker 1: Work thousand major communications majors. You're gonna have a guaranteed
- 17:32Speaker 1: job after you graduate.
- 17:33Speaker 2: And also most people don't know like your schedule is
- 17:36Speaker 2: is basically picked by the football team.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Like you can't absolutely.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Pursue a major that conflicts with football.
- 17:42Speaker 3: I was a health and exercise health and exercise science
- 17:45Speaker 3: major when I came to Oklahoma. But you have I
- 17:48Speaker 3: came in as a junior. You have to have sixty
- 17:49Speaker 3: percent of your uh you're major done by your junior year.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I didn't have that.
- 17:54Speaker 3: So they were like, in order to play football, you
- 17:56Speaker 3: have to be in communications as major sociology. And I
- 17:58Speaker 3: was like, so on brand, and my dumb self said, yeah,
- 18:03Speaker 3: I'll do it, like because because what am I going
- 18:07Speaker 3: to do with health? And I don't know that, but
- 18:09Speaker 3: like I had to, I had to conform.
- 18:11Speaker 2: And so let's move to your current career. The TikTok
- 18:18Speaker 2: person now, And I don't know how you feel of yourself,
- 18:21Speaker 2: but in my mind, there are and this is no
- 18:24Speaker 2: disrespect to anybody, there are TikTokers right, and then there's
- 18:30Speaker 2: people who are using TikTok. Right to me, you are
- 18:34Speaker 2: an actor, writer, director who is using TikTok, but your
- 18:39Speaker 2: skill and your talent far.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Supersede that medium.
- 18:45Speaker 2: But in today's day and age, in order to get
- 18:48Speaker 2: your name out there, this is a great medium. But
- 18:52Speaker 2: the dark side of that moon is when you are
- 18:54Speaker 2: that talented, it can be frustrating because you're like Kanye
- 18:59Speaker 2: has a line that really resonate with me, Like day,
- 19:01Speaker 2: these nigga's that much better than me to have that
- 19:03Speaker 2: talent and you because your your your videos.
- 19:08Speaker 1: People consume them quickly. But as a writer, director, editor, I'm.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Like, oh that boy, Yeah, you gotta write to play
- 19:16Speaker 2: four or five characters, right, you got to write that
- 19:19Speaker 2: script for each character, and you gotta shoot yourself there. Yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 2: you got to change clothes, shoot yourself there. You got
- 19:25Speaker 2: to match your eye line to where that character is.
- 19:27Speaker 2: And then you gotta come back and edit that on
- 19:30Speaker 2: your phone or on a thing, and you gotta layer
- 19:32Speaker 2: it so that you can pull some of that audio
- 19:34Speaker 2: forward before that character you understand you know where well,
- 19:37Speaker 2: you know very well that video goes viral or does
- 19:39Speaker 2: it or doesn't. And then somebody's like, when's the next one,
- 19:42Speaker 2: And you're like, nigga, this took me like twelve hours.
- 19:44Speaker 1: And I know you've be seeing me get at some
- 19:46Speaker 1: of them on You really gotta let.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Your people don't understand because they are only consuming the
- 19:55Speaker 2: minute and a half. You're right, they can't and they
- 19:58Speaker 2: really and it's like it's ignorance and out in the
- 20:00Speaker 2: mean way, like they really don't understand how much time
- 20:04Speaker 2: your video take.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So and then you are you're crying on que. I
- 20:10Speaker 1: try tell me that before we go back to that.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Tell me how you are so able to cry on?
- 20:17Speaker 1: Que What is it? I don't know? Okay, if you
- 20:20Speaker 1: just got to really just think about something real sad.
- 20:22Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Is that easy for you
- 20:27Speaker 1: a little bit? Yes?
- 20:28Speaker 3: I just think about my bank account all right, and
- 20:31Speaker 3: easily does it?
- 20:43Speaker 1: Honestly, I think.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I think like, first of all, I've been by myself
- 20:49Speaker 3: a very long time, so I have time to just
- 20:51Speaker 3: practice stuff.
- 20:52Speaker 1: And I felt like I would I would just try
- 20:54Speaker 1: to practice. I don't know, like in my room, try
- 20:57Speaker 1: to cry, really.
- 20:58Speaker 3: You try to cry, You really concentrate, all right, you
- 21:02Speaker 3: message your throat a lot. Okay, you can get like
- 21:04Speaker 3: some tears going, okay, But in twenty twenty three, they're
- 21:08Speaker 3: gonna they're gonna see g I that in You're You're good.
- 21:10Speaker 1: You don't even need to I saw it the other day.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Yeah, but I think that like for me, You're right,
- 21:19Speaker 3: Like I wanted to be an actor on TikTok. I
- 21:23Speaker 3: wanted to be an actor on social media versus like
- 21:26Speaker 3: there are people who are.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Actually TikTokers, right, I'm not gonna have to be a TikToker.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I can dance.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I don't have clever like ways to use the popular sounds.
- 21:34Speaker 3: I was never talented in that area. There are some
- 21:36Speaker 3: people were.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Like, how do you think of that? To use that sound?
- 21:38Speaker 1: And it's like perfect.
- 21:40Speaker 3: But the way that I work is I have to write.
- 21:43Speaker 3: If I can't write, it's hard for me to create,
- 21:45Speaker 3: which is why I really do kind of envy creators
- 21:49Speaker 3: that are very popular but their videos only take like
- 21:51Speaker 3: ten seconds.
- 21:52Speaker 1: You like that could make like ten of those me.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But you're but it's like incredibly good.
- 21:57Speaker 2: You're both though that was just don't for sure, I
- 22:02Speaker 2: don't spend the time to appreciate it.
- 22:06Speaker 3: You're one of the creators that really uh you you
- 22:12Speaker 3: you know, some people might get there's no time or
- 22:14Speaker 3: any app that you haven't like adapted to like which
- 22:18Speaker 3: is really talented though a lot of people can't do that.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Some people are hot with Vine, not with Instagram, or
- 22:23Speaker 3: hot with Instagram, not with TikTok. You've transitioned to each
- 22:27Speaker 3: and YouTube, which is like, that's great because I'm on
- 22:32Speaker 3: like three apps. That's it, tick Talk, Instagram, kind of Twitter.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Anything beyond that, it's like, I don't. I don't do that.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It's not my thing.
- 22:43Speaker 3: But yeah, like a lot of the writing is how
- 22:48Speaker 3: I create. I need space. I need ways to really
- 22:55Speaker 3: I need to build a slight build a way to
- 22:58Speaker 3: like tell the story, you know what.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I mean, and.
- 23:02Speaker 3: I feel like the reason why I get so like
- 23:05Speaker 3: irritated with people if they say where's the next skit?
- 23:08Speaker 3: Like the other day, Bro, I literally said, wow, forty
- 23:09Speaker 3: zero's crazy.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I was watching the Cowboys k somebody was like, where's
- 23:13Speaker 1: his skit? I was like, I don't.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Want when it worked for you fam like till you
- 23:16Speaker 3: get him when you get them, and I kid you not.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I was like, I shouldn't have said that. I should
- 23:20Speaker 1: have just I should have just relaxed, Like.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Do you think it's do you think you feel that
- 23:27Speaker 2: people don't appreciate what you put into it and that
- 23:31Speaker 2: what irritates you.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yes, it feels like a little bit. It's kind of
- 23:37Speaker 1: on some like we don't care that you're a human being,
- 23:41Speaker 1: Like get to work.
- 23:43Speaker 3: It's how it feels. And you asked me when's the
- 23:45Speaker 3: next skit? Especially if I just dropped them like a
- 23:48Speaker 3: day ago. At first I used to not respond though
- 23:52Speaker 3: I was very cut and clean and disciplined.
- 23:54Speaker 1: But now I don't care. Shut your mouth, Steve. When
- 23:57Speaker 1: I get to it. Now I'm like, I got time.
- 24:01Speaker 1: It's interesting.
- 24:02Speaker 2: What's funny about that is people are actually saying I
- 24:04Speaker 2: enjoy your content.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I want more of it, and then you're yelling at
- 24:07Speaker 1: that badly. It's like, how when are you gonna make
- 24:09Speaker 1: stuff re enjoyed so much? And I'm like, shut them, mound.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I don't even like giving you stuff, but it's tough.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Like Steve Harvey just said this this week.
- 24:19Speaker 2: He was like, people, when you're a creator like this,
- 24:23Speaker 2: you know, people enjoy what you create. They need you
- 24:27Speaker 2: to help them feel better about their day. If something's
- 24:30Speaker 2: offered them they have a day, or they just want
- 24:32Speaker 2: to laugh at the very chain. They don't necessarily care
- 24:35Speaker 2: what's going on in your day.
- 24:37Speaker 1: That's very true, right.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Kevin Hart had this. I don't know if you saw
- 24:39Speaker 2: the series of him and Wesley's Knipes on Netflix.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I think it was oh when they were brothers. Yeah, yeah,
- 24:44Speaker 1: I saw that one.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And the one thing I really connected to with that
- 24:48Speaker 2: is like, in this business, you're gonna have some real
- 24:50Speaker 2: life stuff happening.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and that appearance still gotta happen.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that show that being on set, Like I remember
- 24:57Speaker 2: when Tony Baker's son passed away. I found and he
- 25:00Speaker 2: Tony's like a brother. Yeah, seraing was like a nephew close.
- 25:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying friend's son is like, oh
- 25:05Speaker 2: my god, I had to show forty three minutes after that.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Oh man, so I found out and I had and
- 25:11Speaker 2: them people who bought their ticket, Yeah, they don't have
- 25:14Speaker 2: cold hearts. Yeah, but they're like, nigga, I got my
- 25:17Speaker 2: own problem.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah. So I give you money and for this hour, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: I can't think about that.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:22Speaker 1: So that's the exchange you kind of sign up for.
- 25:24Speaker 2: But at the same time, it makes you feel like
- 25:27Speaker 2: your personhood isn't valued, yeah, but your art is, yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 3: You know, which is why like I appreciate the everything
- 25:38Speaker 3: about like okay, Like for instance, like I've always understood,
- 25:41Speaker 3: just in the beginning that to your point, people.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Like what you do.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they don't necessarily like you as much, you know
- 25:50Speaker 3: what I mean, And that's.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Why they consume you. They consume you, And that's why
- 25:54Speaker 1: I was like, it's a big difference between like when
- 25:56Speaker 1: a lot of people are like all my closest friends
- 25:59Speaker 1: don't support me, but the strangers do blah blah blah,
- 26:01Speaker 1: And I always say, you gotta understand that your friends
- 26:04Speaker 1: care more.
- 26:04Speaker 3: About you than what you do. They're more invested in
- 26:08Speaker 3: you than what you're doing. So like they'll see you
- 26:12Speaker 3: when you make skits, not the skits, like yeah, that's.
- 26:15Speaker 1: That's that's oh, that's kept all that josh.
- 26:18Speaker 3: And they might just scroll past it like, well, you
- 26:19Speaker 3: ain't sharing my stuff, and they're just like, I'm thinking
- 26:22Speaker 3: about the product. I was just like you, you're doing
- 26:25Speaker 3: big things. I mean, like they might not share or
- 26:29Speaker 3: like all of your stuff. But I bet you if
- 26:33Speaker 3: like my homies right in the very beginning when I
- 26:35Speaker 3: was like cranking out stuff, they were like sharing it,
- 26:37Speaker 3: like helping me, right, And then after a while they
- 26:39Speaker 3: was just like.
- 26:41Speaker 1: You don't even like you that much, you know what
- 26:42Speaker 1: I mean.
- 26:43Speaker 3: But they might not share or like my stuff all
- 26:46Speaker 3: the time, they always like my skits every now and
- 26:48Speaker 3: then I'd be like, all right, nigga can comment on that. No, no,
- 26:52Speaker 3: we ain't getting no, we ain't getting no no comments something.
- 26:55Speaker 1: The extra sauce on that.
- 26:56Speaker 3: But I know that if my car breaks down on
- 26:59Speaker 3: the bridge at two o'clock in the morning and my
- 27:02Speaker 3: phone like in every and I'm just in a buying
- 27:04Speaker 3: where I have nobody to get it, I guarantee you
- 27:06Speaker 3: one of them will come get me.
- 27:08Speaker 1: One hundred percent. That's a good points really good point.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Friends, they really are invested in you skits and stuff.
- 27:15Speaker 3: So but to the consumer thing, I think I've also realized, like, yes,
- 27:21Speaker 3: the consumer job is to consume, and I'm grateful for
- 27:23Speaker 3: it because there's a lot of people whose content isn't
- 27:25Speaker 3: getting consumed.
- 27:27Speaker 1: But also now I'm setting the rules.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I'm setting the energy, and the energy is y'all are
- 27:33Speaker 3: not my supporters, your family, you're friends of mine. So
- 27:37Speaker 3: if I tell you to shut up and wait.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Just know that I'm like, no, that's the homie.
- 27:44Speaker 3: That's how I want people to see me as Sometimes
- 27:47Speaker 3: if I'm too cut and clean and just like respond
- 27:52Speaker 3: with oh I'm sorry you feel that way, get to
- 27:54Speaker 3: it right away, it's like it's not real, it's not me,
- 27:56Speaker 3: and I'm the break character. Eventually, Now I'm not gonna
- 27:58Speaker 3: get myself canceled or anything. I'm not doing that except
- 28:01Speaker 3: for if I start a podcast. Like I said, but
- 28:05Speaker 3: I want people to start seeing like me. Yes, I
- 28:08Speaker 3: want people to start seeing Joshua.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Like.
- 28:10Speaker 3: So when I be arguing with people rarely i'm mad,
- 28:13Speaker 3: or when I go at it with people on Twitter
- 28:15Speaker 3: about sports, like the dudes we be getting mad. I
- 28:17Speaker 3: love that because I'm like, this is black barbershop talk.
- 28:21Speaker 3: And I'm like, if y'all are around me and my
- 28:23Speaker 3: friends when we talk to each other, you'll understand. Because
- 28:26Speaker 3: we even have a rule that's like, no matter how
- 28:28Speaker 3: badly I treat you, you can't stop being my friend.
- 28:30Speaker 1: It's impossible. We've been friends since tenth grade. What are
- 28:33Speaker 1: you gonna do? I love that, What are you gonna do?
- 28:36Speaker 1: Adapted some of that in myself. I slipped up and.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Told my Patreon and my podcast audience that.
- 28:44Speaker 1: I hate meet and greets. Oh word, I hate them? Really?
- 28:47Speaker 1: I always have, have you always? Why? What's the reason?
- 28:51Speaker 1: I it's a second performance.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Ah. So in order to do a meet and greet,
- 28:57Speaker 2: I have to be smiling and giddy. I have to
- 29:00Speaker 2: be the person that they came to see.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Do you have to know you do? Okay, you do.
- 29:05Speaker 2: My first tour, apparently I didn't realize this, and my
- 29:08Speaker 2: my wife and my Tony into here told me, They're like, uh,
- 29:12Speaker 2: you need to smile.
- 29:13Speaker 1: The whole time. You're only smiling for the picture with
- 29:16Speaker 1: the person. And then.
- 29:20Speaker 2: But when you walk by and the other person's coming,
- 29:22Speaker 2: I'm just and then like you realize the people in
- 29:25Speaker 2: line are seen, they're like, oh snap, I got an idea. So,
- 29:30Speaker 2: but they take a lot of energy. And my dad,
- 29:33Speaker 2: he was he's always been kind of like gotting me,
- 29:34Speaker 2: and he was like, your job, especially your performer live,
- 29:37Speaker 2: you got to make sure you have enough energy to
- 29:39Speaker 2: give the people what they pay for. And if if
- 29:41Speaker 2: they pay for the meat and greet, you gotta have
- 29:42Speaker 2: that energy. But if that's gonna affect your ability to perform,
- 29:46Speaker 2: then maybe you shouldn't do that. He was really talking
- 29:48Speaker 2: about like before the show. I was doing them after
- 29:52Speaker 2: but it was just like carry Yeah. So I finally
- 29:55Speaker 2: told my audience and they were just like, God, we
- 29:57Speaker 2: get it. You see like this don't do And I
- 30:00Speaker 2: think it's okay to your point of like part of
- 30:04Speaker 2: your actual truth with your real audience. Yeah, you can
- 30:06Speaker 2: share because as long as you are who you say
- 30:09Speaker 2: you are, people can accept that.
- 30:10Speaker 1: It's when you.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Present one way and then they meet you, you're like
- 30:13Speaker 2: a jerk and oh could you catch me in the
- 30:15Speaker 2: airport or in the mom I'm always gonna have enough
- 30:17Speaker 2: energy because that's a short interaction. Absolutely yeah, but after
- 30:20Speaker 2: a show I wouldn't because the first meeting greet I
- 30:22Speaker 2: do after show, I had two shows.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Me and Melissa did an hour and a half.
- 30:26Speaker 2: I take a little break, and then I did forty
- 30:28Speaker 2: five minutes to an hour on stage, and then the
- 30:30Speaker 2: moment I finished, then I'd have an hour to an
- 30:32Speaker 2: hour and a half meet and.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Great, gotch you. So it's like four hours of performing. Yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 1: that's that's a long time. Yeah, that's a long time.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Doing a stand up is a lot of a lot
- 30:39Speaker 3: of energy and is the art form that I've never
- 30:40Speaker 3: been time. You know, I'm not gonna lie. Like also
- 30:44Speaker 3: too with social media on the videos and just we're
- 30:47Speaker 3: always on, always, always on. So when you have your
- 30:50Speaker 3: time to like come down, it's like, ah cool. But
- 30:52Speaker 3: then when you see people, you got to kind of
- 30:54Speaker 3: be on it, and sometimes you don't, you don't want
- 30:56Speaker 3: to be. But I'll tell you this though, I'm always
- 31:00Speaker 3: on kind of low key just in general. I'm usually
- 31:04Speaker 3: really chill. I'm always on for just like if a
- 31:07Speaker 3: support like yourself, she's you, especially if you're bad.
- 31:10Speaker 1: To you know, the let me tell you what time,
- 31:14Speaker 1: Please tell you what.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Hapn't So I was in a friend of mine, she
- 31:17Speaker 3: was and she came she came out to San Francisco
- 31:20Speaker 3: and and I was just showing her around and so
- 31:22Speaker 3: you know, I'm just like, you know what I'm saying,
- 31:23Speaker 3: this is a Union Square, Like this is like wow,
- 31:26Speaker 3: I'm walking down the street. Kid, you not got a
- 31:28Speaker 3: win as a guys, like you know the you.
- 31:33Speaker 1: She was like what does that mean?
- 31:35Speaker 3: Like you know, and a few people had like noticed
- 31:37Speaker 3: me while I was with her. I'm not gonna lie
- 31:39Speaker 3: to you, guys. It was a very like internal I'm
- 31:43Speaker 3: not being humble right now.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Like it was in my mind like I started. I
- 31:48Speaker 1: went from like, yeah, this is the the Union Square
- 31:50Speaker 1: to like, I mean, you know, like you know, it's
- 31:54Speaker 1: like me and the Bear. It's like people know me
- 31:56Speaker 1: out here? What you say? Yeah?
- 31:59Speaker 3: Like and it people that's coming up to me too.
- 32:01Speaker 3: I'm starting to treat them. I'm like, oh, so without
- 32:03Speaker 3: your house and family like you at you she like
- 32:06Speaker 3: everybody know, I'm like kind of everybody like you feel
- 32:10Speaker 3: like it's just whatever, it's not deal, like you're trying
- 32:13Speaker 3: to eat.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Trying to go. And I realized at that moment, this
- 32:18Speaker 1: is why God hasn't let me be a superstar.
- 32:22Speaker 2: My God.
- 32:23Speaker 1: It's like yeah yet, because you're not learning, you know what.

- 36:13Speaker 2: There's a few black actors that I think are next up.
- 36:16Speaker 2: John Boyega, he was doing that. He absolutely absight, and
- 36:26Speaker 2: you remind me of him in that way. Multiple no, no, no,
- 36:32Speaker 2: no no. Your short films and stuff. Thank you to me.
- 36:35Speaker 2: When you really you're at your best, when you when
- 36:39Speaker 2: you care the mind that you don't care about TikTok,
- 36:41Speaker 2: Like I have a short film I'm working on and
- 36:43Speaker 2: you drop those like you. I can see that like
- 36:47Speaker 2: a little. I mean, I'm an amazing for talent, outstanding
- 36:50Speaker 2: for talent, but I feel like you have that certain
- 36:55Speaker 2: it factor talent wise work after you got the you
- 36:59Speaker 2: got the true artist.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I am not my work.
- 37:02Speaker 2: You have to love me that is such an artist,
- 37:05Speaker 2: like because you care so much, that's hard to you
- 37:08Speaker 2: just want to consume my you know, like you've got
- 37:11Speaker 2: to care like that, Like I can see you throwing
- 37:14Speaker 2: yourself into some roles.
- 37:16Speaker 3: The Kobe Harry is another one. Oh, super talented. She
- 37:21Speaker 3: she she she doesn't. I don't think she's getting her dudes,
- 37:24Speaker 3: she's incredible. She's incredible. She's not gonna do so you.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Can watch her in there's a clip from I think it's.
- 37:31Speaker 1: At the dinner table when you appreciate the art of act.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Everything she does, I'm telling you she married. Go ahead,
- 37:42Speaker 4: the small looks to look away, the pause. I'm like, dog, you.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Are in it. It's a lot of she brings. It's
- 37:50Speaker 3: a lot of sub a lot of texts, a lot
- 37:52Speaker 3: of subtleties. That's how the human beings actually are. My
- 37:55Speaker 3: wife knows when I have an attitude, I don't have
- 37:57Speaker 3: to stomp. She can look at me, your energies off.
- 38:00Speaker 3: That's what she does. And that's what you have as well.
- 38:03Speaker 3: And I think in your short films it really showcases
- 38:06Speaker 3: like that, uh, burgeoning talent.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Right, So what do you feel like for you? I
- 38:13Speaker 2: know you got to watch movies and be like, I watch.
- 38:17Speaker 1: Movies all all the time. I'm still trying to look
- 38:20Speaker 1: up Nicole right now, you know, because you want to
- 38:26Speaker 1: make sure that you know things before you start talking
- 38:28Speaker 1: about talking about you want to be respectful. Let me
- 38:37Speaker 1: she's not married. We good.
- 38:39Speaker 3: There you go, She's good, Kobe Harry, that's incredible. The
- 38:47Speaker 3: first time I saw her was in I Want to
- 38:49Speaker 3: Say Jackie.
- 38:50Speaker 1: The movie Yes and Yes, and I was like, she's
- 38:56Speaker 1: she she she has a lot of subtexts, and she
- 38:59Speaker 1: says a lot without saying anything, and and but more so,
- 39:03Speaker 1: one thing I really like about her she takes things
- 39:05Speaker 1: in truthfully, very much.
- 39:07Speaker 3: Like she soaks in with the accurate saying. That's really
- 39:10Speaker 3: difficult to me is to really take in what's being
- 39:12Speaker 3: said to you because it always affects how you like,
- 39:14Speaker 3: say your next line. But sure, she takes it in
- 39:17Speaker 3: so well, and she kills every role that she's in,
- 39:20Speaker 3: and it's a it's a it's a huge question mark
- 39:23Speaker 3: to me.
- 39:24Speaker 1: Is like I should be seeing her and like everything and.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Maybe, you know, she could be one of those actresses
- 39:30Speaker 3: that's very selective. Maybe she doesn't want to just be in.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Everything, getting enough opportunities she should go there.
- 39:36Speaker 2: I don't want to say more, but that's what's happening
- 39:40Speaker 2: because there's no way via Davis. When she was like,
- 39:42Speaker 2: y'all want to you know, she dropped hers a little bit. Yeah,
- 39:45Speaker 2: y'all compare me to Meryl Street. Why making them.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Listen and valid. Davis is a legend. She one of
- 39:54Speaker 1: the best periods.
- 39:55Speaker 2: She's the total toe with Denzel was boy, come on, respectfully,
- 40:00Speaker 2: was washed. And sometimes that's the actor allowing that. I'm
- 40:06Speaker 2: not saying he's not talented. Sometimes you let the person
- 40:09Speaker 2: wash you. Because it was her seem to win her moment.
- 40:11Speaker 2: It was her moment. First of all, you need to
- 40:13Speaker 2: be a gracious coach. You do a coach, star you
- 40:16Speaker 2: co actor.
- 40:17Speaker 1: For sure.
- 40:17Speaker 3: You can bring the acting, you can bring the tears. Yes,
- 40:20Speaker 3: you can bring a lot of things, but naturally bring snot.
- 40:26Speaker 1: And live in it and live in it. And when
- 40:28Speaker 1: they said cut, I know she stayed in here. And
- 40:31Speaker 1: you know that's not the only take. No, no, it's
- 40:33Speaker 1: not the only take. So to do it consistently, there's
- 40:36Speaker 1: no way for me. That's different.
- 40:37Speaker 3: That's nobody's controlling snot you try nobody.
- 40:42Speaker 2: You know, that's her moment because she's been docile that
- 40:45Speaker 2: whole play, that whole movie.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Denzel can't win that because it takes away from her.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Listen, you're not bringing snot nobody's doing that. That's different.
- 40:56Speaker 1: That made me question ask you is are you trained me? Yeah?
- 41:02Speaker 1: Tell you. Uh So, I've taken a lot of acting classes.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I took a Miser class, I've joined a Meisner program.
- 41:09Speaker 1: That is pretty much a.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Certain acting technique, one of those Okay, what's it, what's
- 41:16Speaker 3: his technique or her technique? His technique is pretty much
- 41:18Speaker 3: in my opinion is uh, it's more so using I
- 41:21Speaker 3: don't want to sound ignorant, don't sound dumb, but it's
- 41:23Speaker 3: in my opinion, it's more so using like repetition and
- 41:29Speaker 3: using being truthful under imaginary circumstances, which is the definition
- 41:32Speaker 3: of acting. But it's more so like you're you're using
- 41:34Speaker 3: the repetition and you're really concentrating on your You're using
- 41:37Speaker 3: your imagination to its t like that's your pinpoint of
- 41:41Speaker 3: that's what's going to make this truthful. The reason why
- 41:45Speaker 3: I couldn't give you guys a way better description of
- 41:47Speaker 3: it is because it was a two year program I
- 41:49Speaker 3: got kicked out in three months.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Let me explain though, Yeah, it wasn't my fault. I know,
- 41:56Speaker 1: I have an excuse for all of my mistakes. What
- 42:01Speaker 1: let me tell you. Yeah. So with San Francisco, it's
- 42:05Speaker 1: a two year program in San Francisco. I joined it.
- 42:08Speaker 3: It was very expensive though. First of all, these acting
- 42:10Speaker 3: classes are expensive. They're like thirteen hundred dollars.
- 42:12Speaker 1: Every two months, three months. They're very pricey.
- 42:16Speaker 3: With my acting teachers, they are the strict, the most strict, passionate,
- 42:23Speaker 3: militant teachers I have ever.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Had in my life.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Not math, science, biology, chemistry, none of my college professors.
- 42:35Speaker 3: You walk in five minutes late, like late, but whatever,
- 42:39Speaker 3: you're paying to be here.
- 42:40Speaker 1: You're an adult. Acting teachers don't care how old you are.
- 42:44Speaker 1: They will scout.
- 42:45Speaker 3: There were grown adults at the time in there that
- 42:48Speaker 3: they would come in five minutes late, and.
- 42:49Speaker 1: The acting teacher would be like, get out, get out,
- 42:52Speaker 1: get out.
- 42:53Speaker 3: So imagine you're like you're forty five and there's another
- 42:57Speaker 3: get out, Oh, get out of my class. Now you
- 43:00Speaker 3: want to say, what, get out, I'll let you back,
- 43:03Speaker 3: like seriously, they don't play around, like, they don't play around.
- 43:06Speaker 1: They don't even care if you called before.
- 43:08Speaker 3: About something it no, don't show up to my class.
- 43:12Speaker 3: So the reason why I got kicked out of my class,
- 43:14Speaker 3: and I'll make it very quick, is because in the beginning,
- 43:18Speaker 3: there was there was a thirteen There was eighteen people
- 43:20Speaker 3: in the class.
- 43:21Speaker 1: There was like fifty seats.
- 43:22Speaker 3: It was just eighteen of us. We would all sit separately,
- 43:24Speaker 3: you know, we didn't know it. Nobody knew each other. Yeah,
- 43:28Speaker 3: And in the beginning we were doing the repetition exercise,
- 43:31Speaker 3: which is pretty much you repeat what I say. So
- 43:33Speaker 3: if I say I say you look angry today, they'll say,
- 43:39Speaker 3: I look angry at you look angry today. You look
- 43:41Speaker 3: angry today. You look angry today. I look angry today.
- 43:43Speaker 3: You look angry today. I look angry today. You look
- 43:46Speaker 3: angry today. So you keep saying it until you get
- 43:50Speaker 3: to the point to where it reaches its peak and
- 43:54Speaker 3: it causes you, truthfully.
- 43:55Speaker 1: To say, why you say that? Why do I say that?
- 43:58Speaker 1: Why do you say that? Why do I say that?
- 44:02Speaker 1: Why do you say that? Why do I say that?
- 44:05Speaker 1: Why do you say that? Why do I say that?
- 44:07Speaker 1: Why do you say that? Until you get to the
- 44:09Speaker 1: point where it's like, yes, why do you say that?
- 44:11Speaker 1: And you goes, yes, why do I? So it's like
- 44:12Speaker 1: one of those ye.
- 44:13Speaker 3: So they're pretty much teaching you to take in was
- 44:15Speaker 3: being said to you and truthfully and it'll affect the
- 44:18Speaker 3: way you give it back out.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Like that's how we started off. Cool. I sucked terrible.
- 44:25Speaker 1: It's terribly sucked, exactly terrible.
- 44:32Speaker 3: But throughout the class I started getting better. But he
- 44:34Speaker 3: would rip me apart in the class after just like
- 44:37Speaker 3: you're not paying attention, you're not doing it, blah blah.
- 44:39Speaker 1: But everybody would get their fair share, and.
- 44:41Speaker 3: Then I started getting better throughout the weeks, really really good,
- 44:45Speaker 3: to where it went from me getting like ripped apart
- 44:47Speaker 3: to me getting like kind of like high praise from
- 44:49Speaker 3: like all the time. Long story short, we had a
- 44:53Speaker 3: exercise where you have to bring in an activity with
- 44:57Speaker 3: you during this repetition exercise. This was like a next
- 44:59Speaker 3: let level of it. You bring it in activity with you.
- 45:02Speaker 3: It has to be something that causes you to concentrate.
- 45:04Speaker 3: So maybe you're building a cardhouse with a bunch of cards,
- 45:08Speaker 3: something that you really have to concentrate on, and you're
- 45:11Speaker 3: still doing the repetition.
- 45:13Speaker 1: If I say you look, uh, you look focused. You're like,
- 45:18Speaker 1: I look focused, Look focused, I look focused. Like you
- 45:21Speaker 1: have to really.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Keep doing it right while you bring in activity and
- 45:25Speaker 3: you bring an emotion in with you, real ones. And
- 45:28Speaker 3: so people started turning into like Denzel and stuff. Bringing
- 45:30Speaker 3: in real stuff. People were like crying and everything. It
- 45:33Speaker 3: was a bit much for me. I was like, I'm
- 45:35Speaker 3: not bringing nothing real in here, but I'll try. I
- 45:37Speaker 3: don't even know y'all like that. So, so there's a
- 45:42Speaker 3: person doing an activity and there's a person in a room,
- 45:45Speaker 3: in a little room. Now, depending on the knock on
- 45:49Speaker 3: that door, you have to answer it. Depending on the
- 45:51Speaker 3: knock will tell you. The knock will tell you what
- 45:53Speaker 3: kind of mood I'm in. If I bang on it,
- 45:55Speaker 3: that means I'm.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Mad, I'm happy, if I'm in a hurry, that kind
- 46:02Speaker 1: of thing. This is exciting, yes, once you open it.
- 46:05Speaker 3: But the way it goes is so the person stops
- 46:07Speaker 3: doing activity, answers the door, but whatever emotion, and I
- 46:13Speaker 3: might have it, and I might have it backwards. But
- 46:16Speaker 3: the person who answers the door, once the door is opened,
- 46:20Speaker 3: whatever emotion the person had that was knocking on the door,
- 46:22Speaker 3: whether you're angry or whatever, you must drop it. It's
- 46:26Speaker 3: now about the mood of the person with the activity.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Got it.
- 46:30Speaker 3: You have to adjust to that. So whatever mood you're feeling,
- 46:33Speaker 3: as the knocker.
- 46:34Speaker 1: You're supposed to drop it. Okay. So this day that
- 46:37Speaker 1: I come, I do in my activity.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I have I have movie tickets. I collect movie tickets.
- 46:42Speaker 3: So I've been collecting movie tickets.
- 46:43Speaker 1: It's like twenty fifteen, like actual Yeah, I have like
- 46:46Speaker 1: a box. Do they still make actual tickets?
- 46:48Speaker 2: Oh?
- 46:49Speaker 1: Yeah, you still go or even if you print them online?
- 46:51Speaker 1: You can request a ticket.
- 46:52Speaker 3: I'll give you one. I have a box full of them.
- 46:54Speaker 3: So I'm counting adding up movie tickets. I'm adding up
- 46:58Speaker 3: how much money I've spent over the years tickets. I
- 47:00Speaker 3: suck at math, So this was something I really needed
- 47:03Speaker 3: to concentrate on. The knocker is furious. She bangs on
- 47:08Speaker 3: the door, almost knocks it down. I opened the door.
- 47:11Speaker 3: She don't drop her mood. She's still screaming at me
- 47:13Speaker 3: the whole time. Now with me, you can call it
- 47:16Speaker 3: mature or immature, But if you're blowing up on me
- 47:18Speaker 3: like yelling at me, I'm very calm oh. I respond
- 47:21Speaker 3: calmly because it's my chance to be a little petty
- 47:24Speaker 3: and I'm gonna really dig into that skin of yours.
- 47:26Speaker 1: You're already mad, let's get curious.
- 47:28Speaker 3: So and this is something i'm working on. So I'm
- 47:32Speaker 3: single and stuff.
- 47:33Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 47:35Speaker 3: If she's upset, well it was because you didn't so yeah,
- 47:43Speaker 3: so that's what I was doing. My teacher didn't think
- 47:45Speaker 3: it was truthful. She thought I was lying, and I
- 47:48Speaker 3: was like, no, I'm really like this for real. And
- 47:50Speaker 3: if it's not truthful, then they like, tell you you're
- 47:53Speaker 3: not doing the exercise right.
- 47:54Speaker 1: All this stuff. The teacher comes back. We had two
- 47:57Speaker 1: acting teachers, by the way.
- 47:58Speaker 3: She teaches every Thursday, the last Thursday of the month.
- 48:02Speaker 3: He comes to back to the school. She tells him
- 48:05Speaker 3: what I was doing, I wasn't doing it right. I
- 48:06Speaker 3: was like, I was doing it right. He's like, you're
- 48:08Speaker 3: not being truthful. I was like, y'all don't know me.
- 48:10Speaker 3: How do you know I'm not being truthful. If you
- 48:11Speaker 3: don't know me for real, I'll get my friends here,
- 48:13Speaker 3: I'll tell you that's really him and then come to
- 48:16Speaker 3: find out they were dating.
- 48:18Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. Yeah she used to be
- 48:20Speaker 1: a student. Oh yeah, you know what I'm saying, and
- 48:22Speaker 1: I was like.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Y'all, don't think I know what's going on. I got y'all,
- 48:26Speaker 3: I know exactly what's happening here. And he's defending your
- 48:29Speaker 3: honor on my behalf, like I mean, on.
- 48:31Speaker 1: Account of me. I'm not feeling it. So I ended
- 48:33Speaker 1: up getting kicked out the class.
- 48:34Speaker 3: He was like, you need to email me tomorrow and
- 48:36Speaker 3: think about if you really want to be here, and
- 48:37Speaker 3: I was like, for thirteen hundred dollars, I feel like
- 48:39Speaker 3: I'm supposed to be here, but it was like the
- 48:42Speaker 3: last week of class, and I ended up not paying
- 48:44Speaker 3: another thirteen hundred dollars. And then I went to another
- 48:47Speaker 3: acting teacher and she was really cool. She was great.
- 48:52Speaker 3: I don't want this to come off wrong, but I
- 48:54Speaker 3: only women acting teachers for me, really only. I'm like
- 48:59Speaker 3: that in general, every every person that is close to
- 49:03Speaker 3: me outside of the fam. But my doctor all that women,
- 49:07Speaker 3: all women why because they actually care and they listen more.
- 49:11Speaker 3: And there's no who has bigger balls energy here like
- 49:15Speaker 3: they listen genuinely and they make me feel like they care.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Women tend to have that effects one hundred and.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I needed to learn because at first I thought like
- 49:25Speaker 3: she likes me, she's feeling your boy. It was like, no, Joshua,
- 49:32Speaker 3: I'm trying to check your symptoms, like, can you.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Just roll up your sleeve? List? Can I just take
- 49:40Speaker 1: your blood?
- 49:40Speaker 2: Oh my god, that's hilarious.
- 49:46Speaker 1: But no, what were you going to say, because they
- 49:48Speaker 1: really do care?
- 49:48Speaker 2: No, No, I was just saying we on my podcast the
- 49:51Speaker 2: last month or so, I side with women. Yeah first
- 49:54Speaker 2: and two times Kylie Russell and this girl who got
- 49:57Speaker 2: here with a brick.
- 49:58Speaker 1: It's coming to questions on the truth. I saw that
- 50:01Speaker 1: like yesterday.
- 50:01Speaker 2: I don't know about the girl with the brick, but
- 50:03Speaker 2: it's coming to question. Yeah, men have been so mad. Really,
- 50:07Speaker 2: I'd be like, if you always take women's side, yea,
- 50:09Speaker 2: I will continue to do so.
- 50:11Speaker 3: They're mad because they like, they think anytime we might
- 50:15Speaker 3: get a w maybe the hope.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Because we take so many l's.
- 50:23Speaker 3: So when they when men feel like they might get
- 50:26Speaker 3: a dub, they hold on to it tight, very tight.
- 50:31Speaker 2: Maybe so, and I'm gonna continue to side with absolutely first.
- 50:35Speaker 2: I will be wrong believing women first before I ever
- 50:39Speaker 2: one of those people who is poking holes for oh
- 50:42Speaker 2: for sure, never, for sure, I'll continue. I've been wrong
- 50:44Speaker 2: a lot in life. It's never hurt me to be
- 50:47Speaker 2: wrong on women's side.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Oh no, Like listen, I'm listen. When let's say, like something,
- 50:52Speaker 3: when a man happens and you're wrong about it, you're
- 50:54Speaker 3: on the wrong side.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Who cares? All right? And men will move on quick
- 50:58Speaker 1: like well that.
- 51:00Speaker 3: But if you're wrong it's a woman situation, you better
- 51:03Speaker 3: buckle up, buddy, furious you're a bugle up because now
- 51:09Speaker 3: they're going to talk about you being wrong about the situation,
- 51:11Speaker 3: and then they're gonna talk about your upbringing for why
- 51:13Speaker 3: you thought you were right about that situation.
- 51:15Speaker 1: And now you're dug.
- 51:15Speaker 3: Into you get it, man? Yeah, and they're gonna remember too. Yeah,
- 51:20Speaker 3: no forgetting.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Let's put a pin in the acting ability.
- 51:23Speaker 2: You also, may I say, are equally as talented as
- 51:28Speaker 2: a musician.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I appreciate that you are a rapper. You release a EP?
- 51:32Speaker 1: I did you released original simony? What's going on? Like
- 51:38Speaker 1: you really?
- 51:39Speaker 3: The music video, the flow, the cadence wordplay. I'm like, why,
- 51:43Speaker 3: I I don't want to say jealous As a man
- 51:49Speaker 3: of heft and receding hairline and of some talent, you
- 51:53Speaker 3: don't have to you.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Can get that fixed. I could there's something.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Okay, you get a fixed it's not that important, Okay,
- 52:01Speaker 2: it really is it. But you've got the rapping ability
- 52:04Speaker 2: to write a lot like Jamie Fox.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Remind me of Jamie Fox.
- 52:08Speaker 2: Like, if you decided I'm just gonna be an actor,
- 52:10Speaker 2: you could excel in that career and go very far.
- 52:13Speaker 2: You decide, you know what, I'm not gonna act anymore,
- 52:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna be a musician, you could go just as far.
- 52:18Speaker 1: In that career appreciating what is that like to like?
- 52:21Speaker 1: Do you have to choose?
- 52:22Speaker 2: Do you feel like sometimes I want to express myself
- 52:24Speaker 2: in music sometimes in acting you want to do?
- 52:27Speaker 1: Like, what's that like for you?
- 52:28Speaker 3: I think honestly, I started doing digging in music a
- 52:31Speaker 3: little bit because I wanted to be Oh so bro,
- 52:33Speaker 3: love your stuff, You're funny at that. Yeah, I started
- 52:40Speaker 3: doing music because I thought it would give me a
- 52:41Speaker 3: better chance of being discovered for acting. Really, yeah, because
- 52:45Speaker 3: a lot of musicians are in are in like shows
- 52:48Speaker 3: and things like that, and true, the one thing that
- 52:50Speaker 3: I like about musicians is they get to be themselves
- 52:55Speaker 3: outside of acting or outside of music, Like in music,
- 52:59Speaker 3: the reason like, on top of their talent musically, They're
- 53:02Speaker 3: aesthetic is why people love them, whether they're super tatted up,
- 53:05Speaker 3: whether you know they they just you know, they wear
- 53:08Speaker 3: the clothes they want. So when they get picked for roles,
- 53:11Speaker 3: it's a role that fits them to a tea versus actors.
- 53:15Speaker 3: It's kind of like you have to be kind of
- 53:19Speaker 3: a clean look so you can be in these.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Other kind of roles. Right.
- 53:23Speaker 3: So I've always kind of like man like, well, if
- 53:25Speaker 3: I can get popular as a music artist, then I
- 53:29Speaker 3: can have a little bit.
- 53:31Speaker 1: More like hey, can I get into the acting scene.
- 53:33Speaker 1: It all leads back to acting. Absolutely.
- 53:38Speaker 3: It all leads to absolutely and the girls. The girls
- 53:41Speaker 3: love musicians, you know what I mean.
- 53:43Speaker 1: Like musicians get away with.
- 53:45Speaker 3: Their behavior because they're musicians and they're artists.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Like you know what, comedians too, we can often say
- 53:50Speaker 2: exactly what we feel very true.
- 53:54Speaker 1: I ain't doing it no more.
- 53:57Speaker 3: But also to get away with saying a lot because
- 54:00Speaker 3: their comedian is especially if you know how to do
- 54:02Speaker 3: it right part for them is great.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:06Speaker 3: So I think that like it all leads back to
- 54:08Speaker 3: acting one hundred percent. I just haven't pursued it because
- 54:12Speaker 3: I was like as as serious as I could because
- 54:19Speaker 3: I'm the music industry. There's not enough structure for me,
- 54:24Speaker 3: and I don't under and there's enough structure. I don't
- 54:25Speaker 3: understand it. There's way more structure in the acting industry.
- 54:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:28Speaker 3: You have an agent, yes, you you know we take
- 54:31Speaker 3: ten percent, we take it. You know everything that's happening, like,
- 54:33Speaker 3: you know what I mean. You read over your contract. Hey,
- 54:35Speaker 3: if I want to leave, I leave, you know what
- 54:37Speaker 3: I mean. For the most part, musicians is kind of like.
- 54:40Speaker 1: You're in this forever, bro. We don't even know where
- 54:43Speaker 1: your money's going. You don't even know where it's going.
- 54:48Speaker 1: And every time you buy something or get something, you
- 54:50Speaker 1: don't even know. Now you're in debt more and you
- 54:52Speaker 1: don't even know it. You don't even know.
- 54:56Speaker 3: So you know, for me, it would take honestly, if
- 54:59Speaker 3: I were to seriously pursue it, it would take like a
- 55:02Speaker 3: small uh. I don't think I would ever sign to
- 55:04Speaker 3: a label. I'd have like a manager or something like
- 55:07Speaker 3: that and do it that way. Yeah, but yeah, I'm
- 55:10Speaker 3: not really a fan of it. I'm still gonna do
- 55:12Speaker 3: the music videos for like the EP, and so if
- 55:13Speaker 3: I just haven't done.
- 55:14Speaker 1: It, it's great, and you know, it's really.
- 55:15Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of talented rappers specifically who
- 55:19Speaker 2: make amazing actors. Oh yeah, I just watched Top Boy
- 55:23Speaker 2: and I didn't even know. The guy who plays Sully
- 55:26Speaker 2: is like a like a og grime rapper. I think
- 55:29Speaker 2: his name is Kano.
- 55:30Speaker 1: I haven't I've only watched like she's one. I still
- 55:32Speaker 1: gotta I still gotta get because no, wasn't there like
- 55:35Speaker 1: two different time Boys.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's the reboot with like Drakens in spring Hill.
- 55:40Speaker 2: It's just called Top Boy. The original was rebranded the
- 55:43Speaker 2: Top Boy Summerhouse.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Spring Hill is a part of that. Yeah, spring Hill.
- 55:46Speaker 1: I did not know that. Yeah they wow, spring Hill.
- 55:49Speaker 1: They're doing it big. They doing it big. They're doing
- 55:50Speaker 1: it big.
- 55:51Speaker 2: I was just on a little something for them, okay,
- 55:53Speaker 2: for like Scorpios. But Kano, who plays Sully is an actor.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Sims plays Shelley, and she's really talented.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Right, Queen Latifa, she's in she's in it too. No, no, no,
- 56:04Speaker 1: I'm saying I just went to other actors. Oh god,
- 56:08Speaker 1: the top I just was naming other rappers. Oh yeah, really,
- 56:12Speaker 1: some of.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Them are so much you are, like, I tee at
- 56:14Speaker 2: this point, my kids have they know him from Law
- 56:17Speaker 2: and Order.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they don't even know.
- 56:18Speaker 2: They wouldn't even believe Snoop like Snoop has acted legit.
- 56:23Speaker 2: But I think it's to your point. It's about the
- 56:25Speaker 2: authenticity for sure, and the roles they choose.
- 56:27Speaker 1: You like Snoop. It's so fun. I was just talking
- 56:28Speaker 1: about this the other day.
- 56:30Speaker 2: When I was introduced to Snoop, it was like him
- 56:32Speaker 2: in court the murder case, like the Firmer I remember him,
- 56:37Speaker 2: like yeah, And now he's at WrestleMania and doing Martha
- 56:43Speaker 2: Stewart doing.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Corona Corona commercials crazy what crazy turned down?
- 56:50Speaker 1: If that's what he said yes to? What is he
- 56:51Speaker 1: said no to?
- 56:52Speaker 3: I'm telling you, I'm telling you I like what name too.
- 56:55Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know how you guys feel about it.
- 56:57Speaker 3: I know she's under like a lot of like heat
- 56:58Speaker 3: right now. But Dose Cat was good and this episode
- 57:00Speaker 3: with a little Diggy.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Do you watch that show?
- 57:01Speaker 2: They haven't seen day I've seen it the first season,
- 57:04Speaker 2: but I haven't watched the rest.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Of the Okay, yeah, she was in like season I
- 57:06Speaker 1: want to say, like two or she's.
- 57:08Speaker 2: I imagine she was. She was really good, but you
- 57:10Speaker 2: low key she's she has the same feeling you have. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:14Speaker 2: I just make my music and consume it. But imagine
- 57:18Speaker 2: the few fans that annoy you multiplied by hundreds of thousands.
- 57:23Speaker 1: Yeah, but then she goes to VMAs and you're like, well,
- 57:26Speaker 1: I mean listen, he's God like an out of you.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I feel different about them. I agreed.
- 57:30Speaker 3: I felt like what she was doing was trying to
- 57:33Speaker 3: get rid of people that were looking at her as
- 57:35Speaker 3: a product. Yes, she's trying to get rid of the
- 57:38Speaker 3: fan base that looked at her as just a machine.
- 57:42Speaker 3: They were too infatuated with her as a as an artist,
- 57:45Speaker 3: not as a person. If you really look at what
- 57:47Speaker 3: dojah Cat has done over the past let's say five years,
- 57:53Speaker 3: let's go back to the like if you say so,
- 57:57Speaker 3: like before dojah Cat started like being let's say, her
- 58:00Speaker 3: own person, like she is like right now, like just
- 58:02Speaker 3: being her authentically.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Like if you look at what she's been doing over
- 58:05Speaker 1: the past like five years, she has been worked like
- 58:10Speaker 1: a horse, tour hit hit hit, news hit songs, just
- 58:17Speaker 1: being on other people's songs.
- 58:19Speaker 3: She even, I think put it out publicly once like yo,
- 58:21Speaker 3: I really need to rest, Like she tweeted, it was
- 58:23Speaker 3: like I need to like just like sleep, and I
- 58:27Speaker 3: think I think it got to the point to where
- 58:28Speaker 3: she was like, I'm just a product and that's how
- 58:32Speaker 3: I'm feeling. So I'm about to really just tell people like,
- 58:34Speaker 3: this is what I'm doing. If you don't like it,
- 58:36Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 58:37Speaker 1: She was in the chats showing feet, the racial chats
- 58:39Speaker 1: showing feet? What? What was feet? You ain't know? She
- 58:42Speaker 1: was in the racial chat shown feet? What are you
- 58:43Speaker 1: talking about? Who was feet? Was in the racial chats?
- 58:48Speaker 1: Racial chat? You said, racial chats? What are you talking about?
- 58:51Speaker 2: Brother?
- 58:51Speaker 1: There was a you're not familiar what I'm trying to
- 58:55Speaker 1: describe what it was like?
- 58:56Speaker 2: A almost like a message board form for like some
- 58:59Speaker 2: alt right people.
- 59:00Speaker 1: She was on it.
- 59:01Speaker 2: She was on there and literally showing feet. You haven't
- 59:05Speaker 2: heard this meme, Rachel. You ain't heard those cats such
- 59:08Speaker 2: your children? You get done those cats there showing feet.
- 59:11Speaker 3: I might be the most out the loop in the
- 59:13Speaker 3: loop person. You know, I'm very hot in cold and stuff.
- 59:17Speaker 1: There's a too much to know. There's so much to know.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Boyfriend was a bad choice, but too much Okay, it's
- 59:24Speaker 2: too much.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Let me ask you this.
- 59:27Speaker 2: If you had it your way, Yeah, what do the
- 59:30Speaker 2: next five years look like for you?
- 59:32Speaker 1: Okay? So supermodel ven each year, she's my wife, straight
- 59:39Speaker 1: off the bat. She's my wife, you know, got two
- 59:44Speaker 1: or three kids, it's up to her, doesn't matter. All right,
- 59:46Speaker 1: We're at church every Sunday, perfect family or a knock.
- 59:51Speaker 1: She's another model, okay, rich chocolate Jesus.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Oh and this is why I don't have a podcast,
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: remember all right? So but yeah, so Venetia is my wife,
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: two or three kids, is up to her. It doesn't matter.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I'm in a very not What was the question you've
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: heard through your whole train of thought off totally forgot
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: the glass. That's all that matter.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: The next year, the next five years and your professional career,
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: the family side of taking.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: How do I see my career five years? Yeah? The
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: best way it could go for you? Okay, okay, so cool.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: So Benetria, my wife.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: You said that this is my wife, two or three
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: kids is up there, and I would say I'm an
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: established actor. I would like to you know, Childish Gambino
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: is one of my biggest inspirations.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I lost my feeling everything he does. I love it
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: anything he does.
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: But I would like to be an established actor that
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: doesn't necessarily mean I'm rich and famous. That means I'm
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: an established actor. I'm better as an actor. And I
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: would like to have my own sketch show really yeah,
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: like He and Pil sketch show.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm working on that now actually really yeah. So
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: you know, prayers to God.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: I don't know how it's going to turn out, but
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: that's something I'm worry not yet. I'm right, ah your prayer.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: I'm having a meeting tomorrow about it.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Interesting, Yeah, let's go.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: So I would like to make that transition into being,
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: you know, an established actor and just a better writer
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: and a man who's seriously dating or married to Venetria.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: Two or three kids, doesn't matter, it's up to her.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: And you know what, I got you out. That's probably
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: the first name that pops up when I go to
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: the search bar. Her name is Venetia. She's she's a model,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: she's just she's a gorgeous two or three kids as
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: matters to her, and and you know, she's oh my gosh, yeah,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: oh I'm on the podcast. Yeah, this is her.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: But I would say, you know, it's just I'm an
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: established actor and a writer. I you know, this year
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: I wanted to really focus on learning things. A lot
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: of times I can memorize things, I can get things done,
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: I can do things, but I haven't learned the whys
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: of like why I'm doing it.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: You know, I can.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Film a short film, right, but it's like you know,
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: the the rules of third or just like why do
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: certain angles say a certain thing?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Why are we painting?
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: And during this moment, why are we doing this angle?
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: Just things like that, just learning. So I think that
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: it's just important to me in the next five years
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: or sooner. It's important to evolve, especially as black creators,
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: because I do feel that black creators, like you know,
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: black creators, actors, writers like you know, you and me
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: and plenty of others, we don't necessarily get that freedom
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: to branch out and evolve. Sure we're kept in a
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: box versus you know, other creators that might they just
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: get on the scene and already they're on uh, they're
- 1:03:14Speaker 3: on Time magazine, or they're already in movies.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: They're already and you're like, sang like their brand is crazy.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Now there gonna sound like hate and I don't and
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: that's okay. Yeah, Bobby all tough. She's a young white woman.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: She she just had some podcast clips go viral.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Oh the really dry humor.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: Yeah, when I tell you, Yeah, she jumped on the scene. Yeah,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: Drake Yotti to Mark Cuban, Connie Marco.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: I'm just like out of there, out of there.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: I mean, you just toil away year after and she's
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: just like, oh, yeah, my neighbor was famous. I found
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: some podcast MIC's on the ground, and now I gotta
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: and I'm just like, oh, that's how she started. She's like,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I want to try this, and apparently her first one
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: her neighbor was famous and the podcast was so bad.
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Yeah that like she put it out and went viral. Oh,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: and she had shock, And.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: I'm just like, still, oh, Neil, she doesn't appreciate shocks.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: She's out of there. She didn't watch Blue Chill. No,
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: she wasn't watching them games.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: She didn't see shocking, the Magic, then the Lakers and
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: the Toe.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: She don't want the Kobe and Shack beef Man and
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: all right. I just as a person, just like god, damn,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. That's not my role, that's
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: not my journey.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: But it is sometimes frustrating because you're like you want
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: to pop at the same time, no one building is better.
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I mean, I she one more question for you go
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: because I know you can understand. This is something I
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: often struggle with. What is it like for you when
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: you make a video that goes crazy like one of
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: your recent ones was like it's very funny. No no,
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: before that, when the dude acts like he don't like
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: the crush and he's.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah's doing some stuff with real He used
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: to put that in her story like then reposted that.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: One thing I struggle with is no matter how well
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: a video does, eventually it tapers off absolutely, and you
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: you gotta go right back to it sometimes in weeks
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: months to reach.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: That scess again. Yeah, So what is that like for you?
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: Because sometimes I don't say I get I don't want
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: to say I get down, but I'm like, I'm competitive
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: and stuff, and I'm just like that day, like yesterday,
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: I had a great day. Yeah, I mean I was
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: like these video I was just which means the rest
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: of this month we're gonna be back to back to
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: the job board. I mean some days I'm just like
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: just putting up anything. Yeah, like I want to and
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: I go back and look at previous video success just
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: like it gets further and further down the timeline, like
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: how do you get yourself up again? Because I know
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: you really can't create from a place of like I
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: want this to pop. It just doesn't work like that.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: It doesn't work and you can't even created from a
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: place like the more I work I put into it,
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: it'll do better because it also doesn't work like that.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: So how do you keep going? Is my quest? I
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: U said.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: I had a lot of trouble with this in the
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: very beginning because when you pop off at the first time,
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: like early, you're trying to figure out like how to
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: pop off again, and that really gets depressing and stressful.
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: And I felt like people could smell it on me too, like.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: You're trying to pop. We don't like that you're trying
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: to You're trying to get on. Yeah, you want too much.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: People hate when you want it too much. It's like,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: you know, they hate it when you want it too much.
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: It's kind of like a woman when she knows you
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: like her too.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Much, yeah, or an audition when you really want this part.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Don't ever let her know you like her too much,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: even if you do trust me, don't don't let her.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Know, not until you marry her. And I'm gonna tell
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: you if I propose to her, I'm gonna be like,
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: you kind of want.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: To maybe if you're up for it. I'm kind of
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you want to maybe get married if you you feel me,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: if that's what you like, I'm doing that, Like cav
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I'm not even gonna get on the knee. And because
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: she might say no, because I want to marry her
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: to the love is too much passion here, So you
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: kind of maybe you want to, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: You say no, It's cool. I'm just asking.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: So anyways, I feel like, what the place that got
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: me to a solid just like, I do it for
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: me now, I truly do like I got to that
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: place where I was like, I.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Have to do it for me.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Even if it doesn't pop, I don't care. I liked it,
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: you know, and you learn more about yourself as a creator,
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: and then you kind of learn your audience too, because
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: that's a whole other thing. And I've noticed that if
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: there's only two people in my skit, it really has
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: to be great. The dialogue and the situation has to
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: be great. But normally when I have three or more people,
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: the interaction with more, it's more characters for the audience,
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: for different parts.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Of the audience to like there's more versas.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Right, So you know, I have another skit I haven't
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: done yet, but in San Francisco a lot when you're
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: out there shopping on the street, they're like these Christians
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: that always tell you like, you're going to hell tomorrow.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I hope you know that if you haven't, if you
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: don't repent now.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: So I wrote this funny skit about a person just
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: shopping and he's just like, how you doing, brother? They
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: be repented yet the girds is like it's eleven o'clock.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: I haven't even really, I haven't even sain yet, like
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So I think that it's
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: just been learning that you gotta do it for you
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: and people will see that, Hey, this is their wave,
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: and I'm just glad that they're letting us like witness
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: what's being.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Put out versus I gotta go viral. I gotta do this.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: People don't really like relate to that. They're just like, yo,
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: we just want to We like the fact that he's
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: just doing it, and we just like to see what
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: he's doing, what he's presenting, and even in the audition room,
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: Brian Cranson had said this. You probably saw it too.
- 1:08:43Speaker 3: It was after he won all those awards for Breaking Bad.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: He was talking about the auditions and he said, he said,
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: go into the audition room presenting something to say.
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: This is what I did. I love it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: Whether you like it is up to you. Oh yeah,
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: this is what I'm presenting and I love it.
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: See I don't do that, you know, if you don't
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: like it. I have a list of everybody who's passed
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: on me. You don't to appreciate my talent, and I
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: will make my own movies and destroy you.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: I just I just remember, I remember everyone.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: There's one casting agent who has seen me like six times. Yeah,
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: never cast me, and I'm just.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: Like you, you're going to be in my speech. And
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: there's another one who's seen me like fifteen times. Really
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: nothing nothing, nothing. It's tough. That's why the studio is here. Yeah,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: no one tells me, no everything. It's a great studio too.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: It's awesome. I'm not gonna lie. I was expecting you know,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: just a just a room like Mike's and what not.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: But this is great. This is a real studio, Like
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I know it was a real studio, but it's a
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: it's a it's a real ship.
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: Yeah, out here in the valley we mean something out here,
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: ladies and gentlemen, Joshua and Neil, you will see him
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: more after this as God is my witness. And I
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: just love that when people start googling you, this video
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: will come up.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna come up.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: When you had your big thing in your Aquaman or
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Superman or it's your own movie or your EP, they
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: gonna be Who's Josha.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Neil Black Achaman will be dope, be great forever. He
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: can't do it forever, even though he's got perfect Aquaman.
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: But still he was the best part of Fast and Furious.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: I didn't see them the last one, the last one,
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: I haven't seen it.
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: You got it. It was good though. He was good. Okay,

- 1:10:49Speaker 1: really that's too far? Okay. Sometimes I don't know where
