- Dana (AI host): Picture this. Dana (AI host): You're walking into a customer meeting, the building has zero bars, and you need that deal history right now. Rob (AI host): As of October 2026, the HubSpot mobile app can keep it on your phone. Rob (AI host): Read-only, but it's there. Dana (AI host): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped. Let's go. Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies. Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI. Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you. Rob (AI host): Welcome in! I'm Rob, and quick honesty up front: Dana and I are AI hosts. Dana (AI host): Which means no coffee, no clients, and no portal of our own. Dana (AI host): Just our research and a lot of questions. Rob (AI host): And today's question is offline mode. Dana (AI host): Okay. So what actually shipped? Rob (AI host): Our research says HubSpot shipped Offline Read-only Mode for its mobile app on October 8, 2026. Dana (AI host): Read-only. Say more. Rob (AI host): Once you turn it on, the app caches the records you viewed most recently. Rob (AI host): Up to 50 per object type, across contacts, companies, deals, and tickets. Dana (AI host): So four object types, fifty each... Rob (AI host): Two hundred records, total. Dana (AI host): Wait, just the records? Or the stuff on them too? Rob (AI host): The stuff too. Rob (AI host): Standard and custom properties on each cached record, the three most recent calls, emails, or meetings, and the next five open tasks. Dana (AI host): Okay, that's actually what you'd want walking into a room. Rob (AI host): You also get list views in the Records index, global search across what's cached, and a persistent offline indicator with a last-synced timestamp. Dana (AI host): Love that. Nothing worse than trusting a number without knowing how old it is. Dana (AI host): Now, how did we get here? Because the word beta keeps popping up. Rob (AI host): Good catch. Our research says shipped, October 8. Rob (AI host): But HubSpot's own help page, last updated October 6, still says a Super Admin can opt the account into the Mobile Offline Read-only Mode beta. Dana (AI host): So is it beta or isn't it? Rob (AI host): Honestly? Those two sources don't line up, and we're not going to guess. Rob (AI host): If you don't see it in your app, ask your Super Admin about that beta opt-in. Dana (AI host): Fair. And before this, if you lost signal? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's general mobile records help page still says records cannot be created, edited, or viewed in the app without an internet or data connection. Rob (AI host): So that page is behind, too. Dana (AI host): Even the docs need a resync. Dana (AI host): Who gets it? Because this is where people get burned. Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page lists Starter, Professional, and Enterprise for Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Data Hub, and Content Hub, plus Smart CRM and Revenue Hub on Professional and Enterprise. Dana (AI host): So Free isn't on that list. Rob (AI host): Not on that list. Dana (AI host): Okay. Quick break, then the catch. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Offline mode caches whatever's on the record at sync time. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): So if your deal records are missing key fields, your reps carry those gaps right into the meeting. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): At Sidekick, we fix what's broken and build what's missing, so the records your field team leans on are worth caching. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Want a mobile CRM playbook built around how your humans actually work? George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Book a free strategy call at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): And we're back. Okay, the catch. Be straight with me. Rob (AI host): It's read-only. While you're offline, you cannot edit, create, or delete records, properties, or activities. Rob (AI host): So no notes, no new records. Dana (AI host): So you can look, but you can't log the meeting from the parking lot. Rob (AI host): Not while offline. Rob (AI host): Our research does say that if you still have cell coverage, calling with the My Phone method may still work. Dana (AI host): Okay. What else is off the table? Rob (AI host): HubSpot's help page says file properties and attachments aren't available offline, and neither are custom objects. Dana (AI host): Ooh. If your team runs on custom objects, that one matters. Rob (AI host): And accounts storing sensitive data are excluded. Our research calls out HIPAA-enabled portals specifically. Dana (AI host): Will editing come later? Rob (AI host): Our research says to plan for a future release with write access, but not to build your workflow around it today. Rob (AI host): We haven't seen a date. Dana (AI host): No date, no guessing. Got it. So how do you turn it on? Rob (AI host): In the mobile app, tap the menu, then Settings, and under Preferences, tap Offline Mode and switch it on. Rob (AI host): You have to do that while you're connected. It will not activate automatically. Dana (AI host): And then just drive off into the hills? Rob (AI host): Let the first sync finish on a solid connection first. Rob (AI host): After that, it resyncs every 24 hours, and you can tap Resync data any time before a big trip. Dana (AI host): How do I know what's actually cached before I leave? Rob (AI host): In that same Offline Mode screen, while you're still online, tap Show contacts, or any other object, or View cached data to see what came down. Dana (AI host): Oh, so that's the pre-flight checklist. Rob (AI host): Pretty much. Rob (AI host): And if you're a user in more than one HubSpot account, Select portals lets you choose which accounts to cache. Dana (AI host): And when you get signal back? Rob (AI host): Our research says the app syncs data changes automatically on your next access. Dana (AI host): Who's this really for? Rob (AI host): Our research lists field sales reps in rural or spotty territories, service techs and account managers visiting hospitals, warehouses, or secure facilities, sales managers who want reps walking in prepared, and RevOps leaders driving mobile adoption. Dana (AI host): And if your whole team sits in an office with great Wi-Fi? Rob (AI host): Our research is blunt. It won't change much for you. Rob (AI host): But if even a quarter of your reps are in the field regularly, it's worth enabling now. Dana (AI host): Okay, Monday. Give me three. Rob (AI host): One. Rob (AI host): Check whether Offline Mode shows up in your app settings, and if it doesn't, ask your Super Admin about the beta opt-in. Dana (AI host): Two? Rob (AI host): Two. Have reps open their priority accounts in the app the morning before field visits. Rob (AI host): Our research says that fills the cache with exactly the right records. Dana (AI host): Because it caches what you viewed recently. That's the trick. Rob (AI host): Exactly. Three. Look at the deal records your reps will open in the field. Rob (AI host): If key fields are empty, they'll be staring at gaps mid-visit. Fix those first. Dana (AI host): That's a good Monday. Dana (AI host): That's our show. Offline mode: up to two hundred records in your pocket, read-only for now. Rob (AI host): Our full research is on the HubSpot Updates page at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): Thanks for listening to Sidekick's What Just Shipped. Rob (AI host): See you next update.
