- 0:00Speaker 1: Crat that's on the case.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Wow, we don't do it often.
- 0:07Speaker 3: When we need our lawyer involved. Eric Kraft gets the call.
- 0:11Speaker 3: He's on the case.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I am on the case.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Okay. So here's the article America drinking less than ever,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and the same is true for baseball players.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I am going to rely on others because I like
- 0:21Speaker 3: a good adult beverage. So a lot of this article
- 0:25Speaker 3: did not resonate with me when they were talking about
- 0:28Speaker 3: the general public, but when they were talking about baseball players.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It is something that I've seen for years now. Baseball
- 0:34Speaker 3: players and this was the article in Yahoo written by
- 0:38Speaker 3: Jake Min's baseball players are having less drank and having
- 0:43Speaker 3: more cannabis edibles whatever. That was part of it. Way less,
- 0:51Speaker 3: going out, way less. And that's been a thing, you know,
- 0:53Speaker 3: when you come across them, they're like, Oh, the baseball
- 0:55Speaker 3: guys they party hard, right, I'm like they used to.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Now it stands out like a sore thumb when you
- 1:02Speaker 3: have the guy in the clubhouse.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Who's hitting the streets pretty frequently.
- 1:07Speaker 3: In fact, the article went over how Derek Jeter would
- 1:10Speaker 3: go out frequently, and he spoke about it in the
- 1:11Speaker 3: last couple of years on some interviews, and they said
- 1:15Speaker 3: they were trying to think about the last player that
- 1:17Speaker 3: was really hitting the town frequently and that was getting
- 1:20Speaker 3: publicity for it. Do you know the name they brought
- 1:23Speaker 3: up in the.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Article recently banded publicity?
- 1:27Speaker 3: I mean there were some moments where it wasn't good, yeah,
- 1:30Speaker 3: but just knowing that there was a guy who was
- 1:32Speaker 3: really hitting the town taking advantage of being in a
- 1:35Speaker 3: big market, Matt Harvey. Do you know any name since
- 1:39Speaker 3: that where you'd be like, Oh, this guy's going out
- 1:41Speaker 3: all the time.
- 1:41Speaker 1: That's the last one. I mean c Jon's gone ago.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah, but not to me, not the same.
- 1:47Speaker 3: It would be like, oh, Harvey's out, he's at He's
- 1:50Speaker 3: at this club, he's at that club, he's with this person,
- 1:52Speaker 3: he's you know, there were some lateness issues stuff like that, Right,
- 1:56Speaker 3: that was.
- 1:57Speaker 1: A star, dude, That was a star. That Because when
- 2:01Speaker 1: you get older, we don't have greenies anymore. In the game,
- 2:05Speaker 1: Greenies used to be the thing that guys would go.
- 2:08Speaker 1: They'd go out. It was a bad cycle and I
- 2:11Speaker 1: saw it even when I was in the game and
- 2:13Speaker 1: they got rid of greenies in two thousand and six.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Guys would go out, they would drink for a decent
- 2:20Speaker 1: amount of time. They'd come back, they'd sleep, they'd go
- 2:23Speaker 1: to the game. They're like, oh, I am feeling it
- 2:25Speaker 1: a little bit. Whether they were twenty three or thirty three,
- 2:29Speaker 1: Papa Greenie Banger rang for the game. Now it's twelve
- 2:33Speaker 1: o'clock at night and they're like this laying in bed,
- 2:37Speaker 1: can't blink like Pete Fairbanks on the mound, Like, no
- 2:41Speaker 1: blinking because that greene is still running through your body.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So then you go and you have a little bit
- 2:46Speaker 1: more to drink that night the next day. It's a
- 2:48Speaker 1: cycle that just kept going. And we know so much
- 2:50Speaker 1: more about nutrition now, not saying that alcohol is completely
- 2:55Speaker 1: bad for your nutrition or you know, in a you know,
- 3:00Speaker 1: in moderation, it's there. But when you're talking about partying, dudes,
- 3:06Speaker 1: it's a year round thing. Being a big lead player.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Back in the eighties and nineties, it was, well, I'm
- 3:12Speaker 1: going to spring training to get my body ready to go,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and when I the season's over, I'm probably not gonna
- 3:18Speaker 1: pick up a batter or ball and I'll figure it
- 3:20Speaker 1: out in spring training. Now it's nutrition. You have dietitians,
- 3:25Speaker 1: you have cooks, you have stuff, and there guys are
- 3:28Speaker 1: changing how they go about things, how they go about
- 3:31Speaker 1: their health and nutrition. And it talks about in this
- 3:33Speaker 1: article talks about cherry juice. Cherry juice has been in
- 3:37Speaker 1: there since I was playing, and I've been out for
- 3:39Speaker 1: five years. Like Hammer and cherry juice for anti inflammatory purposes.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Everything is about anti inflammatory. There's blood tests that you
- 3:47Speaker 1: can take that will tell you, hey, you know what
- 3:50Speaker 1: your body is allergic, not like allergic, like deathly allergic,
- 3:54Speaker 1: but allergic to stuff. Like I played with a guy,
- 3:57Speaker 1: a pitcher, always had chronic shoulder issue, took this blood test,
- 4:01Speaker 1: found out he was allergic to salmon and broccoli. He's like, dude,
- 4:05Speaker 1: I was. He was one of the most healthy people
- 4:06Speaker 1: ever starter five days in like he was always on
- 4:12Speaker 1: top of everything. Found out salmon and broccoli were causing inflammation,
- 4:18Speaker 1: shoulder pain. Completely gone. Wow, that kind of stuff is.
- 4:21Speaker 1: That's where we're at in the game, and that's where
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm fortunate that I played during this era where you
- 4:25Speaker 1: could learn this stuff. And my body feels great after
- 4:28Speaker 1: playing and I wasn't even a very good player. I
- 4:30Speaker 1: wasn't a very good player, but availability is the best
- 4:34Speaker 1: ability and all this stuff, all this health stuff helps
- 4:39Speaker 1: so much. Need ability for sure, Yeah, I mean I
- 4:43Speaker 1: but I'm saying I didn't have. I joke about it
- 4:46Speaker 1: all the time. I didn't have the ability that Todd had.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I didn't have the ability. There's a reason I hit
- 4:51Speaker 1: two oh nine in the big leagues, whether it's the
- 4:53Speaker 1: fact that you know, I didn't play a lot, or
- 4:56Speaker 1: it was the fact that I just wasn't as good
- 4:58Speaker 1: as the other guys. You have to be available to play,
- 5:01Speaker 1: and the stars have that extra money to be able
- 5:04Speaker 1: to put in into their nutrition.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Todd, you played for the Mets, And they're mentioned a
- 5:08Speaker 2: lot in here.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Just because they refer to the eighties Mets, and then
- 5:13Speaker 3: they talk about the current Mets. The article starts by
- 5:15Speaker 3: talking about how there's like this little MIDI fridge and
- 5:18Speaker 3: it's got some beers and it barely gets touched, and
- 5:21Speaker 3: for the most part, the guys hit up the cherry juice,
- 5:23Speaker 3: the smoothies, the protein shakes, and then I don't know
- 5:26Speaker 3: if this was a matter someone else, but one multi
- 5:29Speaker 3: time All Star told them in the article, it's become
- 5:32Speaker 3: a European style of drinking where it's like I'm gonna
- 5:34Speaker 3: have something to enjoy it and it's not to get
- 5:37Speaker 3: drunk to go out raise hell, because you can't do that.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And later in the article they talk about.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Even Ron Darling's book and how he said that hitters
- 5:46Speaker 3: would shot gun beers at certain times during games. He
- 5:49Speaker 3: said they time it so that they were due to
- 5:51Speaker 3: hit third or fourth that inning, and in their minds,
- 5:53Speaker 3: the rush of beer would kind of jump start the
- 5:56Speaker 3: amphetamines and get back to how they were feeling early
- 5:58Speaker 3: on in the game.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Pumped, jacked, good to go. Eighties mets were.
- 6:04Speaker 1: But a movie. But that's the thing, that's why they
- 6:08Speaker 1: would do that, Like don't looss over the side, like
- 6:10Speaker 1: the amphetamine starts wearing offs, and so when you hit
- 6:13Speaker 1: the alcohol, it basically it gives you another another jump start,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and you're in a seventh eighth inning, yep, and you're
- 6:19Speaker 1: banging ready to go. Rally beers they called him, it did,
- 6:22Speaker 1: at least I called him that.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Yeah, this was evolving around Greenies because it was essentially
- 6:28Speaker 3: a performance.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I never did it to get to enhance myself.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It was I got thrown out of a game or something,
- 6:34Speaker 4: and I would have we're down three runs, trying I
- 6:38Speaker 4: need a rally, have some rally Beers to get those
- 6:41Speaker 4: three runs.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Tod's not saying he drank when he was in the game. No,
- 6:44Speaker 1: never get thrown out of the game. I never did.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I wouldn't even think about doing that. I don't. But
- 6:50Speaker 1: it was a different time. It was a different time. Yeah,
- 6:52Speaker 1: for sure.
- 6:53Speaker 4: You know you had you had pictures that weren't pitching
- 6:55Speaker 4: that day. You need a rally beer, let's go well,
- 6:57Speaker 4: let's go up and get one down, and that saying
- 7:00Speaker 4: you know we won the game. No, it didn't happen
- 7:02Speaker 4: all the time. It was just a figure of speech
- 7:04Speaker 4: for certain things.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Yes, teams are going through it. You ask them that
- 7:08Speaker 1: player right now, they're going through it. They've lost five straight,
- 7:12Speaker 1: I think, or six straight. I'm not sure. I'm sure
- 7:15Speaker 1: it's talked about, yep, because there's guys that don't do anything.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You're sitting on the bench and you're like, I am
- 7:21Speaker 1: not getting in this game, or I just walked in
- 7:23Speaker 1: my one pinch hit appearance and now I'm out and
- 7:25Speaker 1: I'm sitting on the bench. Anything to get the boys
- 7:28Speaker 1: going because you don't feel like you have any control
- 7:31Speaker 1: over what's going on on the field.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Famous so for Red Sox and the documentary Everyone Too
- 7:35Speaker 3: a shot, you know you could see that.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, there are a lot of instances.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yeah, but the point here is now it's video games,
- 7:44Speaker 3: it's edibles. That's what the guys do. There's a lot
- 7:47Speaker 3: more hiding in the hotel rooms going home. The other
- 7:49Speaker 3: portion of this story was exactly that they asked guys
- 7:52Speaker 3: why they don't go out and they said phone. And
- 7:55Speaker 3: they said phone for two reasons. One, they don't want
- 7:57Speaker 3: people capture and stuff and put it on even if
- 7:58Speaker 3: it's nothing. They just don't want them to be choking.
- 8:02Speaker 3: And then the next day if they don't hat, well,
- 8:04Speaker 3: oh well it's because they went out to a bar
- 8:06Speaker 3: and had a couple of beers. And then also some
- 8:08Speaker 3: of them mentioned how they like there was one story
- 8:10Speaker 3: in there how they celebrated after a postseason series and
- 8:12Speaker 3: they said everyone's just putting phones and faces at them
- 8:15Speaker 3: and they're like, that's not even a fun experience. So
- 8:16Speaker 3: I want to party privately and it it's.
- 8:19Speaker 1: A something to connect social media and stuff is to
- 8:22Speaker 1: connect to players. But when it's done like that, My
- 8:26Speaker 1: one buddy, my one buddy was had a big hit
- 8:29Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh day game, went to the bar right across
- 8:32Speaker 1: the street. Got there, just got there, served him a
- 8:36Speaker 1: nice cold beer, and he's sitting like this on the phone.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Somebody posted the picture of him like this, passed out,
- 8:43Speaker 1: said so and so has passed out at the bar
- 8:46Speaker 1: hour and a half after the game. Wonder what he
- 8:48Speaker 1: was doing. So he had to then he had to
- 8:51Speaker 1: go into the front office. He goes, I'm never going
- 8:54Speaker 1: out again. I'm never going out again. Near near the field.
- 8:57Speaker 1: It was just like it was a day game in Pittsburgh.
- 9:00Speaker 2: And he's looking down to it looks like his eyes
- 9:02Speaker 2: are closed.
- 9:03Speaker 1: One hundred percent. He's sitting he's sitting just like this.
- 9:05Speaker 1: And his phone was below the bar and he's like this,
- 9:09Speaker 1: So it looks like he's hammered.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I want one player now to just be the guy.
- 9:13Speaker 3: He just goes out. He just is proud of it.
- 9:16Speaker 3: He's one of the studs. And he's like, yeah, you
- 9:17Speaker 3: got a problem with that. No, as long as he's
- 9:19Speaker 3: you know, he's behaving, he's not getting arrested or anything.
- 9:22Speaker 3: But it's like, hey, I'm hitting the town a couple
- 9:24Speaker 3: times a week.
- 9:25Speaker 2: None of them do it.
- 9:27Speaker 1: It won't happen. It won't happen. The best players in
- 9:30Speaker 1: the game hit below three hundred, they're hitting two ninety.
- 9:33Speaker 1: That means you're getting out seven out of ten times.
- 9:35Speaker 1: As soon as you go, oh for four and you're
- 9:37Speaker 1: posting that stuff, the team is gonna come to you.
- 9:41Speaker 1: The team strength coach, assistant strength coach, trainers, dietitians, all
- 9:46Speaker 1: this stuff. Don't even pull a hammy and somebody sees
- 9:49Speaker 1: you drinking, Oh he's dehydrated. Doesn't care.
- 9:52Speaker 4: Even in other sports, they don't really go on and
- 9:54Speaker 4: where it's the phones man, the videos. It's you can't
- 9:57Speaker 4: get away with nothing, just to go and have a
- 10:00Speaker 4: drink at a bar after a game because you're struggling,
- 10:02Speaker 4: like you know who's at the bar here?
- 10:05Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 10:05Speaker 4: Like the other sports.
- 10:08Speaker 3: They go out more than baseball. Peter, basketball and hockey,
- 10:12Speaker 3: they all go out.
- 10:12Speaker 2: More than baseball.
- 10:13Speaker 1: They have off days.
- 10:14Speaker 2: They have off days.
- 10:15Speaker 1: That's so, don't give baseball players off days. Don't shorten
- 10:18Speaker 1: the schedule, give him more off takes.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Hey, Steven Nelson joining us right now in foul Territory.
- 10:23Speaker 3: I don't think you and I have been on together yet,
- 10:25Speaker 3: have we?
- 10:26Speaker 1: No, Scottie.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I am just gonna say it's been five years, has
- 10:32Speaker 5: he done anything together?
- 10:34Speaker 1: He was ducking you, Steven. That's what it is.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Only Steve and I and a few others know we've
- 10:41Speaker 3: been in the trenches in the broadcast of filling it
- 10:45Speaker 3: for people who you know, dog gets the homework and
- 10:47Speaker 3: you get the call and you know you're somewhere else.
- 10:51Speaker 3: You got to put on the freaking Superman Batman suit
- 10:54Speaker 3: and run in, right, you know.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we we were forged in those fires together. Yes, dude,
- 11:00Speaker 5: Pressure Kratzy, haven't seen you in a minute and phrase
- 11:03Speaker 5: great to be on with you guys as well.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Good to see you, dude.
- 11:07Speaker 2: All right, so let's get into things. So you're calling
- 11:09Speaker 2: the series this weekend.
- 11:11Speaker 3: What do you have for us on the state of
- 11:13Speaker 3: the Dodgers right this second in terms of preparations for
- 11:17Speaker 3: the postseason, because that's really the theme all year for
- 11:19Speaker 3: this team, right.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Yeah, totally.
- 11:21Speaker 5: I mean, this four game win streak certainly a healthy
- 11:25Speaker 5: vibe changer for the Dodgers, and they needed it. They
- 11:27Speaker 5: had lost seven of eight. They were losing seemingly every
- 11:30Speaker 5: game to losing teams or last place teams. We saw
- 11:34Speaker 5: that road trip start Pirates swept them. It looked like
- 11:37Speaker 5: the Orioles may do that as well, but they avoided that.
- 11:40Speaker 5: And so this four game run here and the way
- 11:44Speaker 5: they've won these four games has really been encouraging because
- 11:47Speaker 5: this summer undoubtedly has been disappointing in Dodger Land, and
- 11:52Speaker 5: the criticisms and concerns levied toward this team totally fair
- 11:58Speaker 5: because it isn't just a small stretch you go back
- 12:00Speaker 5: to the fourth of July. They've been one of the
- 12:03Speaker 5: three or four worst teams in all Major League Baseball,
- 12:05Speaker 5: and so that's no small thing. But to your point,
- 12:09Speaker 5: which is the biggest one, it is and has always
- 12:13Speaker 5: been about October for this team. Now they might have
- 12:16Speaker 5: to play an extra series because of the way this
- 12:19Speaker 5: summer has gone. They may find themselves in a wildcard series.
- 12:23Speaker 5: But the way that the starting pitching has been dominating,
- 12:27Speaker 5: not just doing a good job or doing well, they've
- 12:30Speaker 5: been dominating of late, and the way that Mookie Betts
- 12:33Speaker 5: has rediscovered himself and the way that guys are now
- 12:36Speaker 5: coming back healthy. It certainly has given some a win
- 12:41Speaker 5: to the sales of this team, as he had to
- 12:43Speaker 5: the final two weeks and change the regular season.
- 12:47Speaker 1: This is their nerve though in Dodger Land because they've
- 12:50Speaker 1: been just trouncing the Rockies. I know they were losing
- 12:54Speaker 1: to them before, but this, like this resurgence came on
- 12:58Speaker 1: the heels of playing, in my opinion, a better Orioles team.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But then Dodgers were finding a way to snatch victory
- 13:06Speaker 1: or snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. And
- 13:09Speaker 1: that's how that series went. All of that surrounding that
- 13:14Speaker 1: they were losing on the road. Now they could be
- 13:17Speaker 1: that wild card team that may not have that division,
- 13:21Speaker 1: may not have that home field. I think they're still
- 13:24Speaker 1: going to get the home field. I think the Padres
- 13:25Speaker 1: are even worse off than the Dodgers. But is that
- 13:29Speaker 1: fear of playing on the road more fearful that of
- 13:34Speaker 1: than anything else than any of the other problems that
- 13:37Speaker 1: they've had coming up to this point.
- 13:39Speaker 5: No, Honestly, I do think that the road struggles in
- 13:43Speaker 5: the road record are more coincidental than anything like that.
- 13:48Speaker 5: They were playing road games at a time where the
- 13:50Speaker 5: team was just not playing good ball, not clean baseball,
- 13:54Speaker 5: not smart baseball. Like I think you said it fairly,
- 13:57Speaker 5: like they were finding ways to lose games. That's something
- 14:00Speaker 5: Dave Roberts said multiple times during the summer, is like,
- 14:03Speaker 5: that's a game we can't lose. We found a way
- 14:05Speaker 5: to give that We've we gave that game away, And
- 14:07Speaker 5: those are things that you're not accustomed to hearing. There
- 14:10Speaker 5: is this weird emotional position in the minds of Dodger
- 14:16Speaker 5: fans because of the last dozen years. Right they're trying
- 14:20Speaker 5: for a twelfth Division title in a thirteen year stretch.
- 14:23Speaker 5: There has been a level of dominance as well to that,
- 14:28Speaker 5: and it got to the point where I think a
- 14:31Speaker 5: lot of fans said, I don't care about the Nashley
- 14:35Speaker 5: West anymore. It's just about the World Series. And that's
- 14:38Speaker 5: something that the team addresses day one and spring training.
- 14:40Speaker 5: It is about winning a World Series title if not,
- 14:43Speaker 5: everything else is a failure. They addressed that elephant in
- 14:46Speaker 5: the room day one. It came back ranching Glendale. But
- 14:50Speaker 5: these last two years, with the division race being tighter,
- 14:54Speaker 5: they didn't cleach it until the last series against San
- 14:56Speaker 5: Diego in twenty twenty four, and they still almost got
- 14:58Speaker 5: knocked out in the Division Series. And then certainly this
- 15:01Speaker 5: year as they're on track to you know, barely scratch
- 15:04Speaker 5: ninety wins, now it's like, well, wait, wait, wait, Now
- 15:08Speaker 5: they're longing for those days where they're winning the division
- 15:11Speaker 5: by fifteen twenty games and coasting in the postseason. But
- 15:15Speaker 5: I think that ultimately this will be a healthy thing
- 15:18Speaker 5: for them. Cratzy, I think to kind of be humbled.
- 15:24Speaker 5: Not that the guys in the clubhouse were braggadocious. I'm
- 15:27Speaker 5: just saying generally where it's like, Okay, this isn't just
- 15:30Speaker 5: going to be a cakewalk. Not that again, not that
- 15:33Speaker 5: any of them thought baseball of all sports is going
- 15:35Speaker 5: to be a cakewalk, but for them to be like, wow,
- 15:38Speaker 5: this is we're really having to fight and scratch and
- 15:42Speaker 5: claw for every single win, no matter the record or
- 15:45Speaker 5: the opponent across the field, I feel that that is
- 15:49Speaker 5: a big thing, not just for the Dodgers, really any
- 15:51Speaker 5: team that's playing for postseason balls. So you know, try
- 15:55Speaker 5: to address the team and you know your question about
- 15:58Speaker 5: the fans, I do think that there is some angst,
- 16:00Speaker 5: in some nervousness because you know, in the last ten
- 16:03Speaker 5: plus years, they're normally getting ready to clinch in the
- 16:07Speaker 5: middle of September, and that's not the case these last
- 16:09Speaker 5: two seasons.
- 16:10Speaker 4: I think they're honestly giving everything the Oakie Doc. Right now,
- 16:13Speaker 4: they're just baiting them all in take your wins, and
- 16:15Speaker 4: then Boom wants the playoff hit. It's like flipping a
- 16:18Speaker 4: switch in my opinion.
- 16:19Speaker 5: But I hear you Fras and like, I think like
- 16:24Speaker 5: the other aspect of that is they're getting every team's
- 16:28Speaker 5: best haymaker. I remember watching you guys when Logan o'hapi
- 16:32Speaker 5: was on after the Angels swept the most recent Freeway
- 16:35Speaker 5: series and he talked about not being able to go
- 16:39Speaker 5: to sleep after those games, like that's how turned up.
- 16:42Speaker 5: I would say most opponents are for the Dodgers throughout
- 16:45Speaker 5: the year. So I remember Mookie Bett's got a ton
- 16:47Speaker 5: of crap after the fan fest last year where he's like,
- 16:50Speaker 5: we're going to be every team's World Series and everyone's like,
- 16:52Speaker 5: how can you say something like that. I think he's
- 16:55Speaker 5: been vindicated and validated in what he has said to
- 16:58Speaker 5: be honest of the last two years.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, agreed, agreed.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Now onto the pitching a little bit. I mean they've
- 17:03Speaker 4: had thirty nine different pitchers. We know injuries are a thing.
- 17:08Speaker 4: How would you like talk about this pitching staff? Give
- 17:11Speaker 4: me something that you said I made that's going to
- 17:13Speaker 4: make this Dodger Town feel okay, like where would you
- 17:15Speaker 4: put them? Like, what what is your thoughts on all
- 17:17Speaker 4: this pitching and how are they going to bode welcome
- 17:20Speaker 4: playoff time?
- 17:21Speaker 5: Well, something to Andrew Friedman and Baseball operations and bringing
- 17:24Speaker 5: goms some gm that they have said throughout this year
- 17:28Speaker 5: is that they're gonna have a chance to take their
- 17:30Speaker 5: best thirteen man pitching staff into the postseason that they
- 17:33Speaker 5: ever had. And the Dodgers have had some really good staffs,
- 17:37Speaker 5: but the fact that you now have Yamamoto who's starting
- 17:40Speaker 5: tonight against Justin Verland, or you have Tyler Glassnell and
- 17:43Speaker 5: Blake Snell healthy, Clayton Kershaw, I don't know how to
- 17:49Speaker 5: explain him in year eighteen, just continuing to be a
- 17:53Speaker 5: master of run prevention, and and Emmett she and the
- 17:56Speaker 5: way he has come on they don't I mean, that's
- 17:59Speaker 5: just the starting staff. And I didn't even mention show
- 18:01Speaker 5: hey Otani. So I think that there is a lot
- 18:05Speaker 5: of confidence, given that those guys are, you know, feeling
- 18:09Speaker 5: physically good right now and throwing the ball well, that
- 18:14Speaker 5: no matter what series they find themselves in, they're gonna
- 18:16Speaker 5: have a shot every single night. Now the bullpen has
- 18:21Speaker 5: shown some leaks throughout the year. There have been a
- 18:25Speaker 5: lot of dudes back there thrust into a lot of
- 18:27Speaker 5: different positions. They have had to deal with some injuries.
- 18:32Speaker 5: So I think that right now, if I were to
- 18:34Speaker 5: try to guess how fans are feeling, I would I
- 18:37Speaker 5: would think that they're most concerned about the back end
- 18:41Speaker 5: of the bullpen. But the way the starters look right now,
- 18:46Speaker 5: it has bellied the confidence level, and understandably so, because
- 18:50Speaker 5: that is I mean, any single one of those dudes
- 18:53Speaker 5: can shove a night tonight.
- 18:56Speaker 1: So you know.
- 19:00Speaker 5: The way I put it when trying when people ask
- 19:02Speaker 5: about the Dodgers, I think they will go as their
- 19:06Speaker 5: big dogs go. It starts with the triumvirate and at
- 19:09Speaker 5: the top of the lineup. It really is not a
- 19:11Speaker 5: complicated formula for them to win games. Well, tany Bets
- 19:15Speaker 5: and Freeman, those are their big guys, and then they're
- 19:18Speaker 5: all Stars, with the alternate being all Stars Will Smith,
- 19:21Speaker 5: Max Munci, Ti, Oscar Hernandez and then which glue guy
- 19:24Speaker 5: finds a way to put a drop in the bucket
- 19:26Speaker 5: to win a ball game that night. Like that's it's
- 19:29Speaker 5: really that simple.
- 19:30Speaker 6: Ft family, Let's talk about Fair Harbor.
- 19:32Speaker 7: And if you're listening, I hope that you watch this
- 19:34Speaker 7: conversation at some point because we're doing show and telcrats shorts.
- 19:40Speaker 7: They can be used as a bathing suit, and the liner,
- 19:44Speaker 7: which we call butter, is the game breaker. It's the
- 19:48Speaker 7: playmaker because it's different.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Your born shorts that are not like this, and the
- 19:55Speaker 1: liner sucks. They are buttery on your butt.
- 19:59Speaker 7: I just came up something for them. Your liner sucks.
- 20:02Speaker 7: Get Fair Harbor liner, seriously, give it a shot. I'm
- 20:07Speaker 7: not just saying this. The butter analogy plays an ftfam.
- 20:10Speaker 7: You know we're hooking you up.
- 20:12Speaker 6: So head over to Fairharbor Clothing dot com. Slash foul twenty. Yes,
- 20:17Speaker 6: that's foul twenty for twenty percent off your order. Once again,
- 20:21Speaker 6: that's Fair Harbor Clothing dot com. Backslash foul to zero
- 20:27Speaker 6: for twenty percent off, and make sure you use that
- 20:29Speaker 6: promo code foul twenty.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I'm glad you explained who the stars were, because you
- 20:33Speaker 1: look up and down the lineup you're like stars Star
- 20:37Speaker 1: nine star, and all of a sudden, like Alex Call.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It's like, well, Alice Call was pretty good too. But
- 20:42Speaker 1: the starting rotation is my question. You kind of hit
- 20:45Speaker 1: on it there. Yeah, is Dave Roberts going to change
- 20:50Speaker 1: his and the Dodgers approach because of, in my opinion,
- 20:54Speaker 1: how good the rotation is right now. These guys are
- 20:58Speaker 1: hammering out innings, being there dominant, and when you get
- 21:02Speaker 1: to the bullpen it could be one of their more
- 21:05Speaker 1: shaky areas, and Doc and the front office who creates
- 21:09Speaker 1: the game plan for the postseason have been really resident,
- 21:13Speaker 1: have been really like resistant to going to their starter
- 21:18Speaker 1: for a sixth inning, for a seventh inning if needed.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Are they going to change that approach? Are they going
- 21:24Speaker 1: to do more of like a read it on the field?
- 21:29Speaker 5: I would think so. I think given what we saw
- 21:31Speaker 5: last year with the Dodgers run to the World Series,
- 21:34Speaker 5: where they basically had two and a half starting pitchers, right,
- 21:38Speaker 5: I mean, things were pretty pretty pretty bleak from the
- 21:42Speaker 5: starting pitching standpoint going into October, because you had Jack
- 21:47Speaker 5: Flaherty acquired at the deadline and Yoshinobayamawota was coming off
- 21:54Speaker 5: an injury, right, you weren't quite sure how much he
- 21:57Speaker 5: was gonna be able to give you, And so they
- 21:58Speaker 5: lean on their bullpen dogs back there, and they let
- 22:01Speaker 5: them do a World Series Championship, and now the chemistry
- 22:04Speaker 5: and the calculus has changed here in twenty twenty five
- 22:07Speaker 5: because the rotation is nasty. The rotation is healthy as
- 22:10Speaker 5: we sit here right now, and the bullpen has a
- 22:14Speaker 5: couple more question marks, not in terms of talent, not
- 22:16Speaker 5: in terms of talent, but I would say right now
- 22:19Speaker 5: just in terms of confidence and execution. I mean, those
- 22:22Speaker 5: guys who have the backs of their baseball cards look
- 22:26Speaker 5: like that for a reason, for all those guys, but
- 22:28Speaker 5: for whatever reason one we're in one or another throughout
- 22:31Speaker 5: this year, they they've had their struggles. So I would
- 22:34Speaker 5: say the what doc the staff and the front office
- 22:39Speaker 5: showed everybody last year is that they're going to do
- 22:43Speaker 5: what needs to be done and they're going to lean
- 22:45Speaker 5: on the guys who can get them a win. And
- 22:47Speaker 5: so if that's pushing the starters a little bit, then
- 22:51Speaker 5: I think you're going to see that. But given the
- 22:54Speaker 5: experience that this clubhouse, this coaching staff, in this front
- 22:59Speaker 5: office has getting into and through a postseason, I think
- 23:05Speaker 5: they have shown time and again that they'll be flexible
- 23:08Speaker 5: that because and you know, if the guys in the
- 23:10Speaker 5: back end aren't getting it done, then then you're gonna
- 23:13Speaker 5: have to ride those starting horses. You just have to Gratzy.
- 23:16Speaker 5: But it's by hooker, by crook. Can you find a way?
- 23:19Speaker 1: Okay, So one more rotation question. What do you think
- 23:23Speaker 1: is more likely show Heyo Tani pitching into the sixth
- 23:27Speaker 1: in the playoffs or Clayton Kershaw starting starting the game
- 23:33Speaker 1: over show Hayo Tani.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Wow, that is an excellent situational question. Cratzy, I would say,
- 23:49Speaker 5: my internet's cutting out, guys, I'm gonna have to opt out.
- 23:52Speaker 1: No no, no, no, no no.
- 23:53Speaker 5: No, because he Because no matter how you answer that question,
- 23:58Speaker 5: there is like this feeling of I'm doubting one of
- 24:03Speaker 5: the greatest ever do it right? Because it's like, okay,
- 24:06Speaker 5: well did the Dodgers have been pretty steadfast and resolute
- 24:10Speaker 5: and how they've handled Show as a pitcher this year.
- 24:14Speaker 5: They're not going to push them. We've seen you go five,
- 24:18Speaker 5: but really it's been that you know, three, four, four
- 24:21Speaker 5: and two thirds kind of stretch. And then thinking Curshaw,
- 24:26Speaker 5: you want to be like, all right, like back nine
- 24:29Speaker 5: of his career, like year eighteen, how much has he
- 24:32Speaker 5: got left? And then you look at his numbers and
- 24:34Speaker 5: you're like it's still curshed. I mean the fast balls,
- 24:37Speaker 5: scratching ninety and he's still finding ways to you know,
- 24:40Speaker 5: to go five and two thirds six, shutout in needs
- 24:42Speaker 5: and still punching tickets.
- 24:45Speaker 1: He's just.
- 24:47Speaker 5: There's two. There are two different types of unicorns, those two.
- 24:50Speaker 5: So to your question, all right, can I can I
- 24:53Speaker 5: like play into this hypothetical and ask a question back
- 24:55Speaker 5: to you? Is this Is this a wild card series?
- 24:58Speaker 5: Is this the division series? Short series? Is this a
- 25:01Speaker 5: seven game series?
- 25:02Speaker 1: Let me ask you.
- 25:03Speaker 7: This is.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Game this is game five, This is Game five? There
- 25:09Speaker 1: ya oh okay, seven games? Sorry DS? Game five DS.
- 25:16Speaker 5: So this is winner go home?
- 25:17Speaker 1: This winner going Yamamoto. Yamamoto clearly isn't gonna be able
- 25:20Speaker 1: to come back on five days rest. He hasn't done
- 25:23Speaker 1: it ever in the history of Yamamoto baseball. So it
- 25:26Speaker 1: has to be one of those two guys.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Did Show pitch in the Wildcard series if they were
- 25:31Speaker 5: in it? No, no, no, I'll go with I'll go
- 25:40Speaker 5: with Show. I'll go with Show going six.
- 25:43Speaker 1: That's it.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Really I love I love this, I love this is
- 25:46Speaker 5: really fun. I'll say show hey going six innings, Because
- 25:50Speaker 5: if it's winner go home, you want to go down
- 25:53Speaker 5: with your with with your absolute best, your best bullet.
- 25:56Speaker 5: And that again, see when I say that, now awake
- 26:00Speaker 5: like Kershaw is not your absolute best. No, he's gonna
- 26:02Speaker 5: have a statue in Dodger Stadium one day, and he
- 26:05Speaker 5: is the you could argue the best to ever do it,
- 26:08Speaker 5: preventing runs. But I just think if show Hey's fresh
- 26:11Speaker 5: and there is no tomorrow, then you throw him out
- 26:16Speaker 5: there and you ride him as long as he'll take you.
- 26:17Speaker 5: I think, Yeah, So I appreciate you humoring the back
- 26:20Speaker 5: and forth there. I enjoyed that.
- 26:22Speaker 2: My one thing on this Nelly, Yeah, Tonnie's got better stuff.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I mean we can yeah, clear cut about that now, Yeah,
- 26:30Speaker 3: Kirk vintage, different story. Kershaw now will admit the same way.
- 26:35Speaker 3: He's a different guy, but it's the same results. Stop
- 26:37Speaker 3: with the stuff, not it's it's different in the playoffs.
- 26:40Speaker 3: I got my best stuff in the playoffs.
- 26:42Speaker 1: Don't do that. Don't don't give the kershel don't give
- 26:45Speaker 1: the Kershaw narrative. Oh, the Dodgers are looking to get
- 26:49Speaker 1: twenty seven outs. Kershaw has never not given them quality
- 26:54Speaker 1: outs up until a certain point. They before because Kershall
- 26:58Speaker 1: had this like aura about him, would never take him
- 27:00Speaker 1: out and they would let him hang out to dry.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I don't think he has that aura and they would
- 27:05Speaker 1: take him out. You could get four shutout from Kersh
- 27:08Speaker 1: a becice. That's all he's ever done.
- 27:09Speaker 5: And you can, I think you can. You can see
- 27:12Speaker 5: a piggyback situation in that particular scenario. So because the.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Pen, I mean, oh, Tony's not coming out of the pen.
- 27:20Speaker 1: He can't do that. I don't.
- 27:22Speaker 5: I don't think. I don't think. I don't think show
- 27:24Speaker 5: comes out of the pen. It's if you're gonna, if
- 27:26Speaker 5: you're gonna have anybody piggyback, you would you would probably
- 27:28Speaker 5: ask Kirsh to do it, because he has I.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Saw him coming out in Game seven and LCS he
- 27:34Speaker 1: shut us out. He shut us down in the last
- 27:37Speaker 1: inning or two innings he came out of pen. I
- 27:39Speaker 1: think even against the National in eighteen he shut us down.
- 27:43Speaker 1: And then I think he did it like two years before,
- 27:46Speaker 1: a year before.
- 27:48Speaker 5: So yeah, I just think, and that's and then then
- 27:50Speaker 5: you have a different look right, I don't think going
- 27:52Speaker 5: right left. It's it's just your you're being up slowing
- 27:55Speaker 5: down kind of thing.
- 27:56Speaker 1: I think.
- 27:56Speaker 5: So, I mean, you know that's that that's the cheat
- 27:58Speaker 5: answers like piggyback. But you're asking me to pick one,
- 28:03Speaker 5: I'll go with show.
- 28:05Speaker 1: All right, good, I appreciate that because we say things
- 28:07Speaker 1: with their chest, we don't. Well, yeah, Todd, Todd waffles
- 28:10Speaker 1: back and forth, but we just He's like, I don't
- 28:13Speaker 1: want to piss off Mets fans or Yankees fans. What
- 28:16Speaker 1: he does want to piss off pirates. But anyway, anyway,
- 28:19Speaker 1: last one, fun, fun one for you. Joe Davis allows
- 28:25Speaker 1: you to use his booths every once in a while.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Do you do you ever leave any like notes or
- 28:33Speaker 1: like a something funny that he's got to like find,
- 28:35Speaker 1: Like today Todd unhooked my mic so that I couldn't
- 28:39Speaker 1: say anything and we couldn't find it until the second break.
- 28:42Speaker 1: So Todd is jealous of me, and I know Joe
- 28:44Speaker 1: is jealous of you because of your smashing good looks.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And so do you leave him any do you leave
- 28:51Speaker 1: him any any like sneaky sneaky prizes or.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Well, first of all, animal, First of all, crassy, I
- 29:00Speaker 5: think you need my glasses if you're if you're saying,
- 29:03Speaker 5: Joe Davis the face and votes and baseball is jealous
- 29:06Speaker 5: of my looks. I cover half of this face because
- 29:09Speaker 5: it's already punishable enough. I would my first year twenty three, Uh,
- 29:17Speaker 5: there were a couple of times where you know, like
- 29:19Speaker 5: I like hopped in to finish a road trip because
- 29:21Speaker 5: he was he was off doing fox stuff and he
- 29:25Speaker 5: had left notes. But we we have kind of lost that,
- 29:29Speaker 5: we have lost that love and feeling a little bit.
- 29:31Speaker 5: So I think your question is now turned into inspiration
- 29:35Speaker 5: for me that I've got to got to start doing that. Uh,
- 29:39Speaker 5: you know even note yeah, be creative and I'll uh,
- 29:44Speaker 5: I'll you guys tell me because because Joe's you know, traveled,
- 29:49Speaker 5: he's getting ready for football right now. So you guys
- 29:52Speaker 5: tell me what you want me to leave. Joe Davis
- 29:54Speaker 5: on the next.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Loosen one of his wheels on his chair. So when
- 29:59Speaker 1: he goes it down, because he's like he's you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: he's got that deep voice, and then he sits out
- 30:04Speaker 1: and he's just like this for the first like half
- 30:06Speaker 1: an inn, he's like, what the YEA?
- 30:09Speaker 5: Honestly, like he like Joe is so dialed, like he
- 30:12Speaker 5: would he would notice that, like he he he is
- 30:15Speaker 5: so obviously excellent, excellent what he does. But like if
- 30:20Speaker 5: we we have like our crew talks like our audio guy,
- 30:23Speaker 5: if like the game is a little bit off in
- 30:26Speaker 5: his headset, he can he can tell and it like
- 30:29Speaker 5: and then he'll ask to fix. Like he is just
- 30:31Speaker 5: so dialed in. So I feel like if I if I,
- 30:34Speaker 5: like took a wheel off the chair, or if I
- 30:37Speaker 5: like just even squeezed the little the the the knob
- 30:42Speaker 5: on the chair that, yeah, yeah, the side thing, let's
- 30:45Speaker 5: go side thing that goes up and down on the chair,
- 30:47Speaker 5: he'd be like, wait a second, something's off here, Like
- 30:51Speaker 5: he's he's a he's a broadcast cyborg.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I don't.
- 30:54Speaker 5: I don't know, so, but I'll try. I'll try and
- 30:56Speaker 5: do something to mess with them and then see if
- 30:57Speaker 5: I can get somebody to film it and uh, and
- 31:00Speaker 5: then we'll see how that frank right plays out. If not,
- 31:02Speaker 5: I'll just leave him a love letter.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I'll just get him arrested during the game. Don't do that.
- 31:09Speaker 2: These are real stories, now, these are real stories.
- 31:12Speaker 3: These guys are these guys are taking you to early
- 31:15Speaker 3: two thousands, mid two thousand, you know, twenty.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Ten pranks right they pulled off.
- 31:21Speaker 3: I was thinking, like, oh, maybe you like a certain
- 31:23Speaker 3: protein bar and you leave.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Him an extra one or something like that and say, hey,
- 31:26Speaker 2: but try this one out.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Let me know. Yeah.
- 31:29Speaker 5: Also he's Yeah, first of all, I would love to
- 31:32Speaker 5: go off the rails and go early two thousands francs.
- 31:35Speaker 5: But secondly, Scott, you you bring up protein bars like
- 31:38Speaker 5: I know, I know you have to dial in your
- 31:40Speaker 5: your diet. Like Joe is the same thing, Like I don't.
- 31:43Speaker 5: I think he just eats air sometimes, like he's just
- 31:49Speaker 5: get right right because his body's at temple.
- 31:52Speaker 1: I don't know, know, I get it. That's what we
- 31:55Speaker 1: do with it. That's what we do with Scott. Yeah,
- 31:57Speaker 1: we're gonna do a show when we get a million
- 32:00Speaker 1: million subscribers on YouTube, We're gonna do a show with
- 32:02Speaker 1: Scotty's shirt offfs the whole time. Two hours of that.
- 32:07Speaker 5: That sounds more like OnlyFans fellas than.

- 32:16Speaker 4: us to break But hey, Nally, great catching up with you, dude.
