- 0:00There are many, many different angles to the to the zuka and to
- 0:05the purpose of the holiday. And it's actually strange, I
- 0:08think and it's so many different lessons from the same zuka.
- 0:12The starters we have the basic mitzvah which is to go into the
- 0:18zuka to eat in the zuka, but yet the Ukraine Tadudu to live in
- 0:22the zuka. That's our obligation.
- 0:25And that really means when you say live, you would decide to
- 0:28define how are you really going to live.
- 0:30The best example is your friend comes over.
- 0:33Where are you sitting? You sitting with him on your
- 0:36porch. You sitting without a zuka.
- 0:38You sitting with him in the living room without a zuka or
- 0:42are you bringing him into the zuka?
- 0:43You want to buy us into your home.
- 0:45Classy example is if you're considering or trying to
- 0:48consider I was zuka our home. You should be inviting our
- 0:51friends into our Zuka to sit around and just wounds.
- 0:54Of course, I think we kept what we say in the Zuka VS That's a
- 0:57sign that's your home. So the real core of this mossah
- 1:01came when the fact there were pasuk says to remember Ki basuko
- 1:06to Shafi that Hashem put us in Sukkot in the desert.
- 1:12Even within that is true means either means it operates in
- 1:15literal huts. I mean there's protection.
- 1:17Hashem put us in huts basically to protect us from the weather,
- 1:20from the climate, or Hashem protected us with Ananiaca or
- 1:25with the clouds, and the Zuka is the commemoration of those
- 1:28clouds. These are the different ways you
- 1:29learned all right? He discussed Monday matters in
- 1:32the Sokka or if you discuss like Monday matters with your
- 1:36friends. So win Soka.
- 1:37We should be out of Soka or the band Soka.
- 1:39Mundane, basic mundane. Still on the Sokka crazy.
- 1:44I don't know. We were talking even sports.
- 1:47I would say venture that's a your regular talk.
- 1:50Probably still OK being the Sokka language.
- 1:52Not the best and other things there's a debate if a person
- 1:56should use their Suka. It's like almost like their
- 1:57office even stuff like that yes, you should make it suit out of
- 2:00your home and if you're going to be over tough on yourself and
- 2:04saying I have to make sure everywhere this kid is Shaw, you
- 2:06can end up using it very little and that's not a good thing.
- 2:09A suka should be a hangout spot. Careful, normally I think you're
- 2:13mundane yes. So now, and if you have these
- 2:16two opinions as to why we have a suka, the one that says that
- 2:20it's the clouds, I get the one that says because it causes a
- 2:25big miracle. The ones that commemorate a
- 2:28basic sukkah huts that God gave us in the desert.
- 2:31It's a good question. I don't know perfect answer as
- 2:34to why we even need to commemorate.
- 2:35Why did it commemorate something that shouldn't give us huts?
- 2:39That's a basic miracle. It's not an amazing miracle,
- 2:42it's a basic one. Maybe it's just a Zika rod.
- 2:45I'm sure you're remembering the like thing.
- 2:46There's a lot of things to remember in history.
- 2:49It's not the biggest thing to remember, it's just a little bit
- 2:51difficult. The answer that they give is
- 2:53that actual love of our sham and stuff like that, but it's a
- 2:56little challenging and things like this.
- 2:58What is the message of this? Whatever it was, whichever one,
- 3:02it was, the protection that God gave us.
- 3:04What's the purpose of that message?
- 3:06We're a little deeper. Is it that Hashem loves us?
- 3:10Hashem is there for us and we're not.
- 3:13It has the purpose of the message.
- 3:15What is the purpose of the message?
- 3:16To drop deeper of those Sukkot. Hashem is there for us, He loves
- 3:20us, He protects us or they but curve.
- 3:25There's a unique question on that which is God loves us and
- 3:30he's proven that many ways and the desert alone.
- 3:33He proved that he loves us by giving us food miracle the mind
- 3:38giving us water, a miracle with the air and giving us protection
- 3:43the clouds we're only commemorating the third one.
- 3:46Why not commemorate the first two?
- 3:48You're telling me that the sukkah is darshan?
- 3:51Take care of us one way or the other, and the idea that is
- 3:54protection. He loves us, He takes care of
- 3:56us, He's there for us. The water was an example of that
- 3:59as well, and so was the Mon. Why are we emphasizing a third
- 4:04example, which is the clouds, the sukkah, the huts, whichever?
- 4:09Why are we commemorating those and not commemorating the water
- 4:13and the mud? It's a classic question that
- 4:15everybody asks. So you told me to look.
- 4:18Go ahead the the pasuk. Also says it only with regards
- 4:21to the. Why is that the case?
- 4:23It took go the Pasuka saying to remember the sukkah, and the
- 4:26goal of remembering the sukkah is an element of Itzamat same.
- 4:30So why are we emphasizing that example in the desert and not
- 4:33putting emphasis? Why the throne not putting
- 4:35emphasis if the goal is a muna? The goal is of Hashem,
- 4:39appreciation, enjoyment, all that.
- 4:42Why not commemorate the Mon on the water?
- 4:47You could say the sukkah fully covers and encompasses you be
- 4:51fully surrounded by it. So that's the ultimate
- 4:54protection where it's like a force build sort of other ones
- 4:58are they sustain you, but it's. Not the same in the sense good.
- 5:03So the different angles are saying that answer, which is the
- 5:06uniqueness is important to keep in mind the sukkah.
- 5:08The unique element to the sukkah is that it's a little bit more
- 5:13and the man and the bear in this way one, it was kind of an
- 5:18extent. The mind was food, the air was
- 5:22water. No one go without water and
- 5:24food. No one could go without
- 5:26protection either. It was a protection in the
- 5:28clouds and the, and the but it was more than that.
- 5:31It was making you comfortable. It was making us comfortable in
- 5:35the desert. So it was an action Hashem was
- 5:38creating an action of awesome desert.
- 5:40And we need to commemorate that because that's the son of love.
- 5:42That's a sign of care. That's not just a sign of
- 5:45protection and a basic living. It's sounded a bit more.
- 5:48In fact, they had your own home, they had your, you have that
- 5:53protection. And while they were in the
- 5:54desert, they had their own special perfectly climated place
- 5:58person. Yeah.
- 5:58Although I'll give you an example to this point, it proves
- 6:02extra. It's brought down.
- 6:04And although Omnisilla travelled with the aid of the aid of the
- 6:07people who came from its sign, who converted?
- 6:11Not the greatest people, right? They still travel with them, but
- 6:16the area of did not get the same cloud protection as we did.
- 6:21We had special support, whether it be Hutz or cloud and they did
- 6:27not going to the source I saw last night, which means so they
- 6:32weren't accepted as fool Jews. They weren't they, they became
- 6:34converse. They were problems, but they
- 6:36became converse, but they were not treated in this same way,
- 6:39which is an indication again of the unique element of God's love
- 6:43for us. It was seen through the clouds
- 6:46through the house. So it's an actual level of love
- 6:48and the ideas of sukkah should feel like you're in Hashem's
- 6:51hands. We told you the example
- 6:53yesterday, classic example. You know it there's Sukah has to
- 6:56be 3 wolves, actually 2 1/2 wolves.
- 6:59All right, you've heard this point before. 2 1/2 walls
- 7:03includes on this like an embrace right, 1/2 and 1/2 or like a
- 7:13less than 1/2 a drop. Why the all it's all needs to be
- 7:16here, like has to be this two walls and A and the comparison
- 7:23is the United shamps embrace. That's the idea, as the God is
- 7:26meant to feel like an extra special feeling, an extra
- 7:30special connection to Hashem, Not simply that he sustains us,
- 7:34He sustains everybody. Not simply that He gives us
- 7:36water or food, rather a bit more.
- 7:38He gives us a tad more. As a Jew, you should sense
- 7:41Hashem gives you a drop more, you living on a drop, more of a
- 7:45miraculous existence. All our stories of Hashcar
- 7:48Kapurati, all our examples where we see Hashem in our lives, all
- 7:52those examples are not examples that Eddie Goy can say, Anand
- 7:57you will not be able to say that he has the same examples as
- 7:59ours. They have their examples.
- 8:01But now like our, our examples are a drop more, a little bit
- 8:05extra touch of love, a little bit more of care, a little more
- 8:08of warmth. And that is seen and felt in the
- 8:11sukkah. So when he step into the sukkah,
- 8:13he's stepping into that feeling of love, of comfort, of care, of
- 8:19connection to God, of certain level and appreciation and
- 8:23therefore at least the happiness.
- 8:25So the sukkah is meant to be our special comfort zone.
- 8:30It's not simply that you're living, it's rather you're
- 8:33living our way and our ways. So because that's the case,
- 8:41that's what God's meant to be. That fits with the idea that
- 8:45zuka is extra spiritual, because if I'm in this special embrace
- 8:49of God, I mean the special protection of Hashem, special
- 8:52extra, not simply leaving a bit more.
- 8:56That is a level of God's existence.
- 8:59This connects the idea that the sukkah has great protection and
- 9:03also very spiritual. They go directly related because
- 9:08being that it's such a great connection to God and it's
- 9:11actually touched the law from Hashem, that means you're more
- 9:15with Hashem. That's therefore more spiritual.
- 9:18So they go hand in hand. The idea that the Zukah has your
- 9:22representation of protection, love protection combined with
- 9:26the fact that God has a connection to God.
- 9:30The one in the same. He's closer to me with his
- 9:32protection. So he's closer to me and that's
- 9:35amazing spiritual place. If I promised him that the idea
- 9:39if I shouldn't just took care of us, that wouldn't feel like his
- 9:42embrace. If I shouldn't just made it work
- 9:45out that wouldn't feel like we're not shown his hands, but
- 9:48because he does it actually touch the law and he does in a
- 9:51unique way. You know we live our existence
- 9:55by now. You know our this is an our
- 9:57right miracle. But now you know the duty people
- 10:00of distance is a clear and open miracle.
- 10:02It's clear. How do we know?
- 10:04Look at the world today and look how much they love us.
- 10:07Sarcastic me right? And that's bubbling up inside
- 10:11for his entire history. So that being the case doesn't
- 10:14really make any sense. Our existence, and it's clear
- 10:18that our existence is based on a touch, an extra touch of love
- 10:22for Masham, actually touch your protection, not simply
- 10:25sustaining, rather doing a bit more Jimmy Sake.
- 10:29You feel that way. That's what the sukkah is
- 10:33supposed to represent. And when you're stepping into a
- 10:35physical structure representing that idea, that's exactly what
- 10:38you're doing. You're stepping into a
- 10:41realization of the way God takes care of us.
- 10:44That's the case. I feel closer to him during
- 10:46those moments and then the sukkah itself in more of his
- 10:49virtual existence based on the fact that if you're getting
- 10:53closer to Hashem's protection, getting close to Hashem's
- 10:56existence is the hand in hand army is the idea and we're
- 11:00supposed to feel an elevated plane when we stepping to that
- 11:04tsuka just to feel that way because you are stepping closer
- 11:07to God with his love and all stepping close to God and it's
- 11:11embrace. That's the idea.
- 11:13So you are a different plane. You're your whole religion and
- 11:16your own mindset is better or anything.
- 11:18The suka based on this concept, that's the IE and you have many
- 11:22elements that prove this point, but this is the core.
- 11:24So This is why we make a commemoration of the clouds or
- 11:28the huts more than the food and the water.
- 11:31The food and water are sustenance.
- 11:33This is a bit more. This is why we feed how we we we
- 11:38couldn't consider ourselves connected as Shen the sukkah now
- 11:42with other miracles. Other miracles are just keeping
- 11:44us alive. This is doing a postman.
- 11:47This is just the field all right under the sky of Hashem told the
- 11:51same idea or we say yes sitting in the class.
- 11:53It's all going to at the point where that's the glory and did
- 11:57any lead to the next step or just happiness question
- 12:03happiness comes from where honest answer.
- 12:07I know people love to say you know if you you're happy with
- 12:10Eli happy reality. What is the core of our
- 12:14happiness. OK, good grants to give a clip
- 12:23after this comes with two things, right?
- 12:25Very favorable having is 2 things.
- 12:27It comes for appreciating what you have and it comes for being
- 12:33less related to material. Same idea, the same thing. 1 is
- 12:38a spiritual angle and one is more of a mental angle, but
- 12:40they're the same idea. Which means very clearly, if I
- 12:44don't appreciate what I have, I am say I am say because I see
- 12:47what I'm like. Simple, clear, right?
- 12:50Equally, if I am, that was a lot of points.
- 12:55If I'm machining materialistically driven all
- 12:58right, there's no way of me to be happy.
- 13:00There's always something else out there.
- 13:02Same head and they go hand in hand with the idea is appreciate
- 13:06what you have and therefore being less materialistic driven,
- 13:10you are a much happier person. There's less things are there to
- 13:14get you upset. The guy needs to drive $1000 a
- 13:18month car, right? So if he doesn't have it, that's
- 13:22not what his library has. And if he needs that based on
- 13:25that need, he's not happy either because he's constantly trying
- 13:28to live a certain lifestyle and you're to be to be some huh?
- 13:32What you require is to be not so needy, which means the more you
- 13:39need, the more you desire, the more you have and the more so it
- 13:43is. So Sukkot with this whole beauty
- 13:47also commemorates the idea that it's not all right.
- 13:51So let's close the three points. Opening point is you feel the
- 13:55protection of a shrimp with that regular protection, extra touch
- 13:59of love. We therefore feel extra touch of
- 14:01love. You feel close as a spirituality
- 14:03that comes out of the car. And with this we feel happier
- 14:07because we're good with this and we're not.
- 14:09Look, if anything else, we're good with the simple but
- 14:12beautiful touch of love of God. God is such a love of flimsy
- 14:16wolves. They're not sturdy wolves,
- 14:18they're floozy. They're delicate, but they're
- 14:21good and we're good. And that's the beauty.
- 14:23This you've only need to that hot and you're getting excited.
- 14:28Yes, because it's God's hot. It's God's connection and it's
- 14:30God take care of you. And I'm good with that.
- 14:32And I feel very settled. I'd rather be in the flimsy hawk
- 14:37of God then in a metal sturdy wall without go.
- 14:40That's the idea. That's the right.
