- 0:21Speaker 1: The Salicata Show available wherever you get your podcast. He
- 0:25Speaker 1: was in Game five for San Antonio. He was there,
- 0:28Speaker 1: He was there for the close out. What was it like?
- 0:30Speaker 2: Soal, dude, I actually still can't believe it because I
- 0:34Speaker 2: just feel like, you know, growing up a Mets fan.
- 0:36Speaker 2: You guys know, I'm a Falcons fan. Like, all I've
- 0:38Speaker 2: known is losing, obviously with the Knicks. To be able
- 0:41Speaker 2: to see your team win a championship is hard enough
- 0:43Speaker 2: to be able to be fortunate enough to be there. Yeah,
- 0:47Speaker 2: I don't think my sports fanom will ever get better.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It was as intense a game as I've ever been at.
- 0:53Speaker 2: You could feel like the Spurs fans were upset and
- 0:56Speaker 2: annoyed that their team was about to be ousted. They
- 1:00Speaker 2: were annoyed that the Knick fans were there because there
- 1:02Speaker 2: were thousands of Knicks fans there. The Knick fans could
- 1:04Speaker 2: taste the championship. So there was that intensity back and
- 1:07Speaker 2: forth early on all the way throughout. It was just
- 1:11Speaker 2: a surreal, freaking feeling to be in the building to
- 1:15Speaker 2: see I still can't believe it.
- 1:16Speaker 3: I was in my own eyes. I saw it, just see.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Where it really was not like Adam Silver handing the
- 1:22Speaker 2: Larry O'Brien Trophy to James Dolan, a guy who's been
- 1:25Speaker 2: ridiculed for the last two decades as the owner, to
- 1:28Speaker 2: see him have that trophy and tell Nick Fancy sorry
- 1:31Speaker 2: it took so long. It was the most amazing everything
- 1:35Speaker 2: that you think if you're a sports fan and dream
- 1:37Speaker 2: about having your team win and maybe being there one
- 1:39Speaker 2: day to see it.
- 1:40Speaker 3: It's even better than that.
- 1:42Speaker 2: It was worth every ounce of whatever money, energy, all
- 1:45Speaker 2: that stuff spent in trying to get there.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's amazing. Winning does cure everything. Because James Dolan has
- 1:51Speaker 1: no right being praised today for the last twenty years
- 1:54Speaker 1: of what he's done as the New York Knicks owner.
- 1:58Speaker 1: And yet everyone even day loves James Dolan because today
- 2:02Speaker 1: we're all feeling good about our team. It's just funny
- 2:05Speaker 1: how it cures everything.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And and it's a great points too, because it's not
- 2:08Speaker 2: just about the losing or the ineptitude. There were there
- 2:12Speaker 2: were really dark days and bad things that were going on.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Lawsuits like don't you know people in the building talking
- 2:18Speaker 2: about how bad it is the Oakley and Dolan like nonsense,
- 2:21Speaker 2: Like there's there's a lot of evidence here that James
- 2:24Speaker 2: Dolan maybe not the nicest guy or the easiest gotta
- 2:26Speaker 2: work with.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And obviously the Knicks were losing forever and.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Now nobody cares exactly get him on the float Jim,
- 2:32Speaker 2: James Dolan delivered.
- 2:33Speaker 3: He delivered that it fans a champions guys.
- 2:38Speaker 4: I am, I'm floating on cloud no on today. There
- 2:40Speaker 4: there isn't too much to nitpick. If I could just
- 2:43Speaker 4: nitpick one thing, I've waited my entire life for this moment.
- 2:48Speaker 4: The locker room T shirts. We couldn't do better than that,
- 2:50Speaker 4: those bedazzled T shirts.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Bedazzled they are, they are they are, and their Spurs colors.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It was almost like the NBA was loo.
- 3:00Speaker 2: They tried with the referees, they tried to get him,
- 3:03Speaker 2: you know, prevent Wenmy from getting suspended, and then all
- 3:05Speaker 2: the merch afterwards, old Spurs colors.
- 3:08Speaker 3: What is that garbage? Right?
- 3:09Speaker 1: Are you saying that James Dolan's responsible for this? Are
- 3:12Speaker 1: you trying to put some blame back on James Dolan
- 3:14Speaker 1: because he deserves he does not deserve universal praise, although
- 3:17Speaker 1: he's getting him from Nick fans today because we're a
- 3:19Speaker 1: bunch of phonies and we don't care. We just wanted
- 3:21Speaker 1: a title. But are you saying James Dolan should have
- 3:23Speaker 1: controlled that the t shirts I.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Think doing there, I'm blaming it. I'm blaming Adam Silver.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Where are you at with that one?
- 3:28Speaker 3: Taylor?
- 3:28Speaker 1: All right?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not. I'm definitely not blaming James Dolan as
- 3:31Speaker 4: somebody who wants to go to a lot of games,
- 3:34Speaker 4: as somebody who wants to go to a lot of
- 3:36Speaker 4: Knicks games next year, and knowing the technology they got
- 3:38Speaker 4: inside Madison Square Garden. Let me be on the record
- 3:41Speaker 4: saying I love James Doan. I think he is a
- 3:43Speaker 4: great owner.
- 3:45Speaker 1: JD Right, I mean, I.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Love that kazoo that he plays. I've never said anything
- 3:49Speaker 4: bad about that kazoo.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Jim bow as you know him, we all know him now,
- 3:55Speaker 1: he's a friend to all of us. Now we love
- 3:58Speaker 1: old j d.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Unbelievable, James Dolan doing something that nobody ever thought. We
- 4:03Speaker 2: didn't think it was possible with the Knicks in general,
- 4:05Speaker 2: especially not with James doing It's just hard to believe.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Tell you going to the parade.
- 4:11Speaker 4: One percent, I'm gonna be there.
- 4:13Speaker 1: What are you kidding me? Of course he's there for
- 4:14Speaker 1: the parade, I mean that's why he went up there
- 4:16Speaker 1: for three weeks.
- 4:17Speaker 2: I was a little disappointed to tell her didn't want
- 4:19Speaker 2: to make the trip to San Antonio.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Where we're texting a little bit.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I was like, I'm going, man, trying to like nudge
- 4:23Speaker 2: him a little bit, like I'm not gonna step any
- 4:26Speaker 2: over step many boundaries. But I know he's here in
- 4:27Speaker 2: New York. I know he can't get enough of it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: It was a lot cheaper than like you could. Game
- 4:31Speaker 2: six was gonna be impossible, Like to get in was
- 4:33Speaker 2: fifteen thousand dollars, right.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but saw what you missed? What you missed going
- 4:38Speaker 1: the game five is you missed, you know, the city
- 4:40Speaker 1: pouring out into the streets and celebrating that championship. I listen,
- 4:43Speaker 1: I would have rather been at Game five. I'm not
- 4:46Speaker 1: certain what Taylor was thinking there, but you do miss that, right.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I mean, for me, I would rather be at the
- 4:51Speaker 2: game than being in the streets with shotguns going off
- 4:53Speaker 2: for what I would you I mean.
- 4:55Speaker 3: People's firing shots, lighting buses on fire.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I mean, I personally don't like the chaos. I will
- 5:02Speaker 2: not be going to the parade. I don't even like
- 5:04Speaker 2: what do you even do with the parade. You go
- 5:05Speaker 2: there and watch, it's gonna be millions of people not
- 5:09Speaker 2: being able to see anything.
- 5:11Speaker 3: It's gonna be chaos. I get the appeal of it.
- 5:14Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I've never never been a champion before, so I don't
- 5:17Speaker 2: know the but no, I much rather have been what do.
- 5:20Speaker 3: We do now?
- 5:23Speaker 4: So at one point, in all the chaos and the streets,
- 5:26Speaker 4: I'm trying to walk towards Soho. I'm meeting friends in
- 5:29Speaker 4: Soho to go out to bars there. I'm stuck in
- 5:32Speaker 4: midtown and just fighting through the crowd. At one point,
- 5:36Speaker 4: the police start pouring tear gas and somebody goes. Somebody
- 5:41Speaker 4: next to me is like, is that tear gas? I go,
- 5:43Speaker 4: I don't know. I've been crying like this. I've just
- 5:48Speaker 4: been weeping.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Oh man, I know it was.
- 5:51Speaker 1: It was.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I didn't know like you always think like, oh yeah,
- 5:55Speaker 2: you'll be emotional. I did not know that I was
- 5:58Speaker 2: gonna be just like I was a mess man, just
- 6:00Speaker 2: thinking of everything you think about your life and people
- 6:02Speaker 2: that are no longer here that can enjoy this, and
- 6:05Speaker 2: what it means to so many people. Thinking back to
- 6:07Speaker 2: me as a fourteen fifteen year old kid, putting everything
- 6:10Speaker 2: I had into Starks and Ewing and Oakley and ninety
- 6:13Speaker 2: four and never having it pay off the Ewing miss
- 6:15Speaker 2: finger Roll the ninety nine season, like all of it,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and then to have it like, holy.
- 6:20Speaker 3: COWI is even giving me goosebumps. Now, holy cow, they
- 6:23Speaker 3: did it.
- 6:24Speaker 2: They actually delivered. So it was everybody was in tears. Man, Nick,
- 6:28Speaker 2: fans were a mess.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It was. It was incredible.
- 6:30Speaker 1: How did this trip come about? It was the last
- 6:31Speaker 1: minute thing for you.
- 6:33Speaker 2: No, I had thought about it. First of all, was
- 6:35Speaker 2: on a Saturday. So now it's in play, right. All
- 6:38Speaker 2: I gotta do is the hardest part. Like people think like, oh,
- 6:40Speaker 2: how much did you pay for tickets?
- 6:41Speaker 3: How'd you get the flights? The hardest part was getting
- 6:43Speaker 3: the pay your approofal for my wife.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Of course, it was right. It's a weekend. I mean,
- 6:47Speaker 1: she needs help for crying.
- 6:48Speaker 2: Out last And as we talked about it last week,
- 6:50Speaker 2: I was in Saratoga at Belmont, so this is now
- 6:53Speaker 2: back to back weekends. But my friend and I were
- 6:56Speaker 2: talking about it, and I'm like, man, if.
- 6:59Speaker 3: It were I would not have been going obviously far
- 7:02Speaker 3: as throw.
- 7:02Speaker 2: But the fact that your team has a chance to
- 7:06Speaker 2: win a championship to me, knowing that it was a
- 7:09Speaker 2: possibility to go, I could not pass it up.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And we got squeezed out.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I didn't think locals, non locals couldn't buy tickets, so
- 7:16Speaker 2: then we were just like out forget it. Then my
- 7:17Speaker 2: buddy called me again on Thursdays, like, why aren't we
- 7:19Speaker 2: going again? I'm gonna come over and watch the game,
- 7:21Speaker 2: And it was like, all right, let's try it again,
- 7:23Speaker 2: and then we did. We found a way around it
- 7:24Speaker 2: and made the trip happen, and thank god we did.
- 7:27Speaker 1: How close were you to you wing to Oakley to
- 7:30Speaker 1: all those guys, I'm not trying to, like, you know,
- 7:33Speaker 1: figure out how much you spent on tickets, and.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'll tell you no, we had a good seat.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It was not center court, but it wasn't behind the
- 7:39Speaker 2: basket or an angle, but it was the upper level.
- 7:42Speaker 2: It was like row five in the upper level. It
- 7:44Speaker 2: was like thirteen hundred bucks a seat, which I don't
- 7:47Speaker 2: think is bad ticket price. They were like I was
- 7:49Speaker 2: expecting to pay between fifteen and two thousand basically to
- 7:52Speaker 2: get in. But they started to come down and come down,
- 7:55Speaker 2: and then we pulled the trigger on with all It
- 7:57Speaker 2: was a good value, decent seat, thirteen hundred per perceed.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I mean, think about it too.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I forget the exact total of the flight, but roughly,
- 8:05Speaker 2: let's just say two grand per person. If you talk
- 8:08Speaker 2: about the flight and ticket that's a friend, It's basically
- 8:13Speaker 2: nothing I would have paid if I were able to
- 8:15Speaker 2: get access to tickets through a friend for Game six,
- 8:17Speaker 2: it would have been two thousand anyway, So like to
- 8:20Speaker 2: see the next that is priceless.
- 8:22Speaker 3: So I ended up getting lucky with the prices.
- 8:24Speaker 4: So where does this rank in terms of moments in
- 8:26Speaker 4: New York sports history?
- 8:27Speaker 3: For you? The greatest?
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'd love to just discuss this with
- 8:32Speaker 2: you guys here. Okay, here's the thing. If you're a
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yankee fan, does this mean more than ninety six? Let's say,
- 8:38Speaker 2: does this mean more than the great run in ninety
- 8:41Speaker 2: eight or finishing off the Mets in two thousand and
- 8:43Speaker 2: having the four and five years whatever it is that dynasty.
- 8:46Speaker 2: If you're a Giants fan who saw ELI beat the
- 8:49Speaker 2: undefeated Patriots, beat the Patriots again have those two Super bowls?
- 8:52Speaker 2: Does this mean more? Here's why? So like for me, obviously,
- 8:55Speaker 2: it's the greatest thing I've ever seen But here's why
- 8:58Speaker 2: I do think it is is if not the biggest,
- 9:01Speaker 2: it's certainly one of the biggest, and probably bigger than
- 9:03Speaker 2: all those I just reference. Is because it's been a
- 9:06Speaker 2: fifty three year drought and it's the one team in
- 9:10Speaker 2: New York that unifies everybody. Yeah, even with the Rangers
- 9:14Speaker 2: in ninety four, it's Rangers Islanders devil. There's a three
- 9:17Speaker 2: way split, Jets, Giants split, Mets, Yankee split.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Yep, there is no split here.
- 9:22Speaker 2: This is all Knicks, which is why I think that
- 9:25Speaker 2: it does make it, if not the biggest, certainly one
- 9:27Speaker 2: of the biggest effort.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think the only thing you can compare it to
- 9:30Speaker 1: is the year the Rangers won the Stanley Cup with
- 9:33Speaker 1: Mark Messier. I'm not certain there's that, Like the Yankees
- 9:36Speaker 1: have been so good for so long that ninety six
- 9:39Speaker 1: while exciting. While that run while exciting, it's kind of
- 9:42Speaker 1: expected with the Yankees. The Rangers were on a similar
- 9:46Speaker 1: type draft won it with Messia won it and you know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: crazy fashion, nail biting stuff. So I think that's the
- 9:52Speaker 1: only thing you can compare to it. But to your point,
- 9:55Speaker 1: only half the population of New York cares about the Rangers,
- 9:59Speaker 1: the Knicks. It's the the entire population of the Tri
- 10:02Speaker 1: State area basically cares about this basketball team.
- 10:05Speaker 3: What's wild is that.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I remember the main thing in ninety four was, you know,
- 10:10Speaker 2: the Islander fans would always chant nineteen forty, so that
- 10:13Speaker 2: number always stuck in everybody's head and however many years
- 10:16Speaker 2: it was, and then you get to the fifty four years,
- 10:19Speaker 2: but that was not the primary theme with this nixt team.
- 10:22Speaker 3: We knew it was a long time, but you never heard.
- 10:24Speaker 2: The chance of nineteen seventy three. You never heard the
- 10:29Speaker 2: It wasn't about wow, fifty years. It became that as
- 10:31Speaker 2: we got closer to the end here. But yeah, there
- 10:34Speaker 2: was a divide. Part of the appeal with the Rangers
- 10:36Speaker 2: was the fifty four year drought was because the Islander
- 10:39Speaker 2: fans been chanting nineteen forty forever. Yeah, so that's local
- 10:41Speaker 2: on local crime there. With the Knick fan there wasn't
- 10:44Speaker 2: any of that. It was just they've been bad for
- 10:46Speaker 2: so long. They haven't been in the finals in twenty
- 10:49Speaker 2: seven years, and obviously they haven't won, but fifty three
- 10:51Speaker 2: year drought basically the same thing. Messia came and ended
- 10:53Speaker 2: the fifty four year drought. Jalen Brunson came and ended
- 10:56Speaker 2: a fifty three year drought.
- 10:59Speaker 1: With Salakott talking smack to any San Antonio Spurs fans
- 11:03Speaker 1: or what they were.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I was respectful going in.
- 11:07Speaker 2: First of all, was a little afraid about retaliation, and
- 11:09Speaker 2: there was that sentiment down there in San Antonio from
- 11:12Speaker 2: some people. Most people were very kind and welcome to
- 11:15Speaker 2: the city, good luck. Even after the win. Hey, we'll
- 11:17Speaker 2: buy you guys some drinks. It was very nice. But
- 11:19Speaker 2: there were some people that saw the videos on social
- 11:22Speaker 2: media with the Nick fans ripping off Spurs fans jerseys,
- 11:25Speaker 2: and they were looking for retribution. So at the game,
- 11:27Speaker 2: I was I'm respectful. Now, I was intense and cheering,
- 11:31Speaker 2: don't get me wrong, but I wasn't going at any
- 11:33Speaker 2: Spurs fans Until the night afterward.
- 11:35Speaker 3: We're waiting outside from Uber.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, just on Cloud nine Nick fans celebrating tears emotions,
- 11:40Speaker 2: and there was one Spurs fan who comes by, this
- 11:42Speaker 2: older dude, and we weren't saying anything. We're just standing
- 11:45Speaker 2: there on a Knicks gear and he's like.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Yeah, wait, do you get five?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Wait?
- 11:49Speaker 3: Do you get five?
- 11:50Speaker 1: That guy?
- 11:51Speaker 3: And I'm like, I'm like, bro, you think anybody cares
- 11:54Speaker 3: about five? Right now?
- 11:55Speaker 2: We just be you sound like Wemby. Go take those
- 11:58Speaker 2: sour grapes somewhere else. We don't care about By.
- 12:01Speaker 3: We just beat you for this one. That's all I
- 12:03Speaker 3: care about. I don't care if they win ever again.
- 12:06Speaker 4: And so what what that guy doesn't understand one title
- 12:10Speaker 4: in New York equals ten titles in San Antonio.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Yes, we have more than they did.
- 12:14Speaker 3: That's all right, you nailed it. Gives me goosebumps.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Not to mention that the Knicks have three all time anyway,
- 12:18Speaker 2: so it's not that far behind. But yeah, it's it
- 12:21Speaker 2: was my Lebron theory, Like Lebron can win as many
- 12:23Speaker 2: as he wants with the Heat or the Lakers, but
- 12:24Speaker 2: his one in Cleveland will forever mean way more than that.
- 12:27Speaker 2: If you win one with the Knicks, man, oh my god.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Incredible.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And by the way, that five should be like ten
- 12:33Speaker 1: considering the players they had. I mean, what is he
- 12:35Speaker 1: talking about? Right to Wenby, I.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Mean, bro, read the room. I understand you're upset.
- 12:48Speaker 2: But and then my producers have got in a little
- 12:50Speaker 2: bit of trouble because now it's a different animal down
- 12:52Speaker 2: there in Texas. And we forgot where we were for
- 12:54Speaker 2: a second until we were reminded.
- 12:56Speaker 1: So this guy, you gotta be careful down there.
- 12:58Speaker 2: You did, You're you're not getting so like that guy
- 13:00Speaker 2: says that to me, I'm like, why don't you like
- 13:02Speaker 2: get addie here, man?
- 13:03Speaker 3: And then he starts chirping.
- 13:05Speaker 2: My producer says something, and then all of a sudden,
- 13:06Speaker 2: before we know it, some cop.
- 13:08Speaker 3: On a horse comes flying over.
- 13:10Speaker 2: To us, get to my producer's faces, like you better
- 13:13Speaker 2: watch it if you if you don't clean it up,
- 13:15Speaker 2: you're gonna be waiting over there. And we're like, oh, okay, sorry, officer.
- 13:19Speaker 2: But like the point was, they're clearly a lot of
- 13:22Speaker 2: the you know, San Antonio Ones, whatever you call them,
- 13:24Speaker 2: the Spurs. They were not happy that New Yorkers were
- 13:26Speaker 2: down there and taken over and celebrating a championship.
- 13:29Speaker 1: So Taylor is right. The next time a fan says
- 13:31Speaker 1: to you, hed, get to five, you say, hey, get
- 13:32Speaker 1: to ten.
- 13:38Speaker 2: They follow the Wemby's crying, Mitch Johnson making excuses.
- 13:42Speaker 3: Somehow, I don't understand it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I mean, we know about Kenny Atkinson, and analytically the
- 13:46Speaker 2: Cavs won that series. Okay, great, and Now, the Spurs
- 13:48Speaker 2: dominated this series. They dominated this series, yet they couldn't
- 13:51Speaker 2: push it to a six game. They didn't win a
- 13:53Speaker 2: home game. I mean at some domination by the Spurs.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Tip of the cap to Mitch Johnson and Wemby.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Yeah, is Brunson better than Wembin Yama?
- 14:02Speaker 2: Hey, you heard it here first, I told you Stu,
- 14:05Speaker 2: I would not have traded I said it before, before
- 14:07Speaker 2: even the Spurs were a matchup.
- 14:09Speaker 3: I believe we had that conversation.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I said I would not trade Jalen Brunson for anybody,
- 14:13Speaker 2: even Wemby. And this is why, because it's not that
- 14:16Speaker 2: he's better than Wemby, although I believe that he is.
- 14:19Speaker 2: As far as the heart goes and as far as
- 14:21Speaker 2: being a leader goes, and being unselfish and being mature,
- 14:24Speaker 2: but winning with Jalen Brunson, nothing will beat that this
- 14:28Speaker 2: guy gets.
- 14:29Speaker 3: He is. He is the perfect embodiment of everything you
- 14:32Speaker 3: would want.
- 14:32Speaker 4: It's Rocky vers Sdrago.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He's rocky, He's got the heart. He's been an underdog
- 14:38Speaker 3: his whole life. People keep doubting him.
- 14:39Speaker 2: He won multiple national championships and people still doubt him.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And then he had to go out there and shut
- 14:45Speaker 2: everybody up and wins a national and that wins an
- 14:47Speaker 2: NBA title, and now it's well, it's an easy path,
- 14:49Speaker 2: rough and easy what it was supposed to be. Oh,
- 14:52Speaker 2: the East was weak and they're not gonna be dispersed
- 14:54Speaker 2: and Wemby's impossible. And I know how great Wenby is,
- 14:57Speaker 2: and I will say that, like, I've never seen a
- 14:58Speaker 2: singular player impact the game from a defensive standpoint the
- 15:03Speaker 2: way that Wemby does.
- 15:03Speaker 3: It's just remarkable to see. Yeah. But but yeah, Brunton
- 15:07Speaker 3: was my guy.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I believed in him as having the heart of a champion,
- 15:09Speaker 2: and I would I would never trade this and the
- 15:12Speaker 2: whole way that it panned out for for anybody or
- 15:15Speaker 2: any anything.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Uh, Taylor put it on the poll. You heard it
- 15:18Speaker 1: here first, Hue. That'd be the name of a new podcast, Taylor.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I was just gonna.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Say that name not taken yet.
- 15:27Speaker 4: A quick stat off off sALS points, Jalen Brunson averaged
- 15:31Speaker 4: thirty two point six per game in the NBA Finals.
- 15:35Speaker 4: It's set the record for the highest scoring average by
- 15:38Speaker 4: a point guard in NBA Finals history, and.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Forty five in the closeout.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Amazing, dude, And that's what I kept yelling there as
- 15:46Speaker 2: it was intense down the stretch, I'm like, you're this closed,
- 15:48Speaker 2: like close them out, close them out.
- 15:50Speaker 3: And that's what this team did.
- 15:51Speaker 2: They closed out the Hawks to get things started in
- 15:53Speaker 2: that first round and blew them out of the water
- 15:55Speaker 2: in that game six, closed out the Sixers, no game
- 15:58Speaker 2: five sweep, close out the Cap no game five sweep,
- 16:01Speaker 2: and then they had the Spurs on the ropes here,
- 16:03Speaker 2: closed them out in their building. Just an unbelievable player, unbelievable, closer,
- 16:08Speaker 2: as clutch as you could possibly be. He took that
- 16:10Speaker 2: game five over without him. Like the Nicks have done
- 16:13Speaker 2: a great job being a good team throughout this run,
- 16:15Speaker 2: Brunton took over game. It was the perfect ending to
- 16:18Speaker 2: a perfect Storybrook storybook postseason run.
- 16:22Speaker 1: How was your wife during the weekend? Did you try
- 16:24Speaker 1: to ruin the weekend, you know, create a little stress anything, Yes, yes.
- 16:29Speaker 3: So like this flat Yes, the night of There's two examples.
- 16:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna give you The night of and I was
- 16:36Speaker 2: emotional and I was thinking about her brother, unfortunately, who
- 16:39Speaker 2: passed away, and he was a Knicks fan, so I
- 16:40Speaker 2: was a little set about that and felt bad for her.
- 16:42Speaker 3: But and then I'm testing with her about that.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Instead of it being like, oh my god, this is great,
- 16:46Speaker 2: it was more like I'm alone, I'm lonely, and I
- 16:49Speaker 2: kind of ignored that. And then it goes from that
- 16:51Speaker 2: to Sunday, where I was like, Okay, the game is
- 16:54Speaker 2: over and now it's back to business.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Get your rear end back here. Maddix. My dog has
- 16:58Speaker 3: a grooming appointment at ten and I'm.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Like, look, we got flights like I'm o Land until
- 17:02Speaker 2: one am and ended up getting pushed back.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I didn't get home until four thirty in the morning.
- 17:06Speaker 3: She didn't care.
- 17:07Speaker 2: It wasn't I wasn't taking a chance saying over in Nashville, Ortlanta.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I needed to make sure I got home because if
- 17:13Speaker 2: I didn't take Maddex for the groomer by ten thirty.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I was gonna be in big trouble year, right.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I mean, just what you need. After the Knicks winn
- 17:19Speaker 1: an NBA championship, I mean back to reality.
- 17:22Speaker 3: I mean, I'm on the high. I just seen the
- 17:23Speaker 3: Knicks win a championship in San Antonio. Everything is great.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Breakfast of champions, brunt of champions, flights of champions, having
- 17:29Speaker 2: drinks at the airport last night, back to reality.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I come home.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's hey, Maddix needs to be dropped off at ten thirty.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Samy's got to be dropped off at school at eleven fifty.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I didn't even have a second to enjoy it. I
- 17:39Speaker 2: want to go back to San Antonio. I'd rather deal
- 17:40Speaker 2: with those guys getting on.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Me an old man who came out afterwards.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Right, stud, It's been my mantra all weekend. It's a
- 17:49Speaker 5: long off season now. I think it's an even longer
- 17:52Speaker 5: off season for Sal.
- 17:54Speaker 1: He's got to make up for the last two weeks.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Oh man, Sal, I do not envy your position right now.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I know I'm already thinking bron Zoo water Park on
- 18:03Speaker 2: the nineteenth. We're off, so something's got to happen. You're right,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm
- 18:09Speaker 2: thankful that she didn't put up resistant because look, the
- 18:11Speaker 2: truth is, I was going to this game regardless she
- 18:13Speaker 2: could have said no, and I'm still I'm not. And
- 18:15Speaker 2: this is why can you imagine I'm telling you right now,
- 18:17Speaker 2: if I didn't.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Go to that game, yeah, and because of.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Her and I saw that happen, I would have got
- 18:23Speaker 2: a divorce like that would have been the end.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I would have never forgiven her for that ever, So
- 18:27Speaker 3: I'm glad it happened. I'm glad it worked here.
- 18:29Speaker 1: If you didn't get Maddix to the place by two thirty,
- 18:31Speaker 1: you would have had a divorce.
- 18:34Speaker 5: Sorry, hon, Every time I look at you, all I
- 18:35Speaker 5: see is the LARRYO.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:38Speaker 2: That's exactly right, and I want it more right. I've
- 18:44Speaker 2: wanted that for forty years. You come on, there is
- 18:47Speaker 2: no replacing Lario.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I can find it another wife somewhere.
- 18:53Speaker 4: And so I'm wondering if you're having the same problem
- 19:03Speaker 4: I'm having Right now, I'm scrolling on social media and
- 19:07Speaker 4: anybody putting out something that even resembles a Knicks Finals championshirt,
- 19:13Speaker 4: whether it's forty seven brand, whether it's New Error, whether
- 19:16Speaker 4: it's Fanatics or Nike or some of these local shops
- 19:19Speaker 4: to New York. I am buying everything right now. I
- 19:23Speaker 4: am addicted to pressing ad to cart.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I am obsessed.
- 19:28Speaker 2: I was doing it yesterday at the airport where we're
- 19:30Speaker 2: just scrolling through the fanatics that have did you see
- 19:32Speaker 2: the Larry O'Brian replica trophy? And oh I got yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty bucks. Dude, I'm like, oh, I
- 19:37Speaker 2: gotta get one for me. You want for my friendly? Yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 2: I know it's a lot. I didn't buy it. I
- 19:41Speaker 2: don't want the championship shirt because you mentioned it's not
- 19:43Speaker 2: it's ugly, but still I want the hat. I do
- 19:46Speaker 2: like the locker room so you're right, he can't get
- 19:47Speaker 2: enough of right now.
- 19:48Speaker 3: It's on fire.
- 19:48Speaker 2: I'm trying to buy an authentic Brunton jersey with the
- 19:50Speaker 2: finals patch that sold out the lines at the gardener ridiculous.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I'm seeing people post on the lines of the NBA
- 19:55Speaker 2: stores ridiculously. The Knicks are as hot a commodity right
- 20:00Speaker 2: now as I have ever seen crazy thing.
- 20:04Speaker 3: It's unbelievable. They're everywhere.
- 20:05Speaker 2: They're gonna be able tonight show all this stuff, but like,
- 20:08Speaker 2: people can't get.
- 20:08Speaker 3: It up my wife.
- 20:10Speaker 2: There's another with my wife. You better make sure you
- 20:12Speaker 2: bring us back something from San Antonio. I'm like, all right, well,
- 20:14Speaker 2: what do you want?
- 20:15Speaker 1: How about a.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Brunts and shirt? But I don't think you know how
- 20:18Speaker 3: this works.
- 20:19Speaker 1: We're in San Antonio there they're.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Shirt right then I can't get them here. This is
- 20:26Speaker 3: San Antonio. They just have Nicks pop up shops here.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I mean, she wanted a brunts and shirt back from
- 20:32Speaker 1: San Antonio.
- 20:33Speaker 2: But it shows you how out of touch, like she
- 20:35Speaker 2: has no idea and yet she's caught up in it
- 20:37Speaker 2: with the brunts and stuff, like everybody wants to rep
- 20:39Speaker 2: Bronts and now yeah it's yeah, I'll see if they
- 20:42Speaker 2: have it at the airport in Austin.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Maybe they have some Knicks merch there. Yes, Oh my god.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I feel like everyone ows, and I mean everyone including
- 20:50Speaker 1: the guys at w FAM.
- 20:51Speaker 3: We've discussed this, but Karl Anthony.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Towns is deserving of an apology from all of New
- 20:57Speaker 1: York City. Fair.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I think that's more than fair because we we joke
- 21:00Speaker 2: about Dolan or the Knicks as a whole. I don't
- 21:04Speaker 2: think any individual player, and Bridges was along those lines,
- 21:08Speaker 2: but not as bad as Cat. You know, people were
- 21:10Speaker 2: nuts about the picks for Bridges.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Oh my god, I want I'm.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Still nuts about it, by the way, I mean just.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Saying there you go.
- 21:15Speaker 2: But Cat people people, I mean people personally went at Kat,
- 21:21Speaker 2: questioning his toughness, his manhood, like and this guy's an
- 21:25Speaker 2: NBA champion and he played his ar Randolph. I know
- 21:27Speaker 2: it wasn't great in the last three games of this series,
- 21:29Speaker 2: but the first two games without those Nicks obviously don't win.
- 21:32Speaker 3: So you're right. Nobody involved with the New.
- 21:35Speaker 2: York Knicks is owed more of an apology than Karl
- 21:37Speaker 2: Anthony Towns. H.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Taylor feels like this was a championship that was won
- 21:41Speaker 1: for all the players before this team, So he's including
- 21:45Speaker 1: like Quincy Ac, do you feel the same way, because
- 21:49Speaker 1: I don't Ewing. I understand Starks, I understand all those guys.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I understand Uh, forget about the last twenty years. They
- 21:55Speaker 1: deserve nothing.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna be honest and say that even when
- 22:00Speaker 2: I saw Ewing and now I love the nineties Knicks,
- 22:03Speaker 2: not as much as this team anymore, but it was
- 22:05Speaker 2: weird for me, like Ewing didn't win the championship. He
- 22:08Speaker 2: did so having him stand there with Brunson. While it
- 22:11Speaker 2: was cool, it's Brunson's trophy, Ewing's team couldn't do that,
- 22:15Speaker 2: and I think it it. I like the fact that
- 22:18Speaker 2: it does represent all the era, certainly from a fan standpoint,
- 22:20Speaker 2: like we watched all these different teams and now this
- 22:23Speaker 2: is the final piece that puts it all together. But
- 22:25Speaker 2: this team earned it, not those players, even though they
- 22:27Speaker 2: were at these games. So yeah, I'm kind of in
- 22:30Speaker 2: between on it. It's a part of Knick's history. They
- 22:33Speaker 2: did it for all those years that all those teams
- 22:35Speaker 2: that couldn't do it. But I also don't need to
- 22:37Speaker 2: see Ewing or really anybody else taking pictures with Larry
- 22:41Speaker 2: Oh while this Knicks team is the one that won it.
- 22:44Speaker 1: So I said that earlier this morning, the guys looked
- 22:46Speaker 1: at me funny. Now sala is saying it fellas like
- 22:48Speaker 1: you get with this, like because I had the same
- 22:50Speaker 1: exact take, like, hey, Patrick, you still haven't won an
- 22:53Speaker 1: NBA title.
- 22:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I think part of it is Patrick Ewing wasn't
- 22:58Speaker 4: even available for the nine NBA finals, So I think
- 23:02Speaker 4: he's looking at it twenty seven years later being like,
- 23:05Speaker 4: I know, Patrick Ewing doesn't think he contributed to this team.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Now Patrick Ewing is just looking at it, saying, these
- 23:12Speaker 4: guys finished the story for us. These guys went to
- 23:16Speaker 4: the place where we lost in nineteen ninety nine and
- 23:19Speaker 4: reversed the script on San Antonio.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Sala I will tell you what I saw from Patrick
- 23:23Speaker 1: Ewing was an outpouring of emotion. It showed just how
- 23:26Speaker 1: bad he felt that he couldn't get it done with
- 23:28Speaker 1: his nixt teams and how much relief it gives him
- 23:31Speaker 1: that someone eventually got it done because he knows how
- 23:34Speaker 1: much it means to the Tri State area.
- 23:35Speaker 2: All right, but do you really think he feels that
- 23:38Speaker 2: way or does he feel like Man, I really wish
- 23:41Speaker 2: I could have delivered.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Now, I love Ewing.
- 23:43Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, yesterday I wore the Starks
- 23:45Speaker 2: jersey to the game, but I wore my Ewing jersey yesterday.
- 23:48Speaker 3: So I love him.
- 23:49Speaker 2: And if he truly does feel like that, I'm happy
- 23:52Speaker 2: for him obviously. But it's just a weird You got
- 23:56Speaker 2: to earn that thing you did, and he unfold it
- 24:00Speaker 2: wasn't his fault, but their team wasn't good enough to
- 24:03Speaker 2: earn it in ninety three, ninety four, they were banged up,
- 24:05Speaker 2: in ninety nine, they just were not good enough with
- 24:07Speaker 2: the Spurs. So yeah, is it nice for anybody who's
- 24:09Speaker 2: a part of the Knicks. I mean, you got a
- 24:11Speaker 2: mom chumper putting on the jersey dancing. Now everybody wants
- 24:14Speaker 2: to be a Nick like now and now everybody's proud
- 24:16Speaker 2: of our test or whoever else all these guys that
- 24:18Speaker 2: nobody would even remember, and not to be disrespectful of all.
- 24:21Speaker 3: You know what I'm talking about, Like now everybody wants
- 24:23Speaker 3: to be a nick.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It's cool now to be a nick, and Ewing is
- 24:27Speaker 2: a different level nick. But those guys didn't deliver. So
- 24:30Speaker 2: to me, it should be always about this team that
- 24:33Speaker 2: did deliver.
- 24:34Speaker 3: It's a cool moment.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Maybe the one tie is that Brunton was around that
- 24:38Speaker 2: team as a kid because his father was on it.
- 24:39Speaker 2: So correct, that's a that's a great time. But I
- 24:42Speaker 2: don't look at Patrick Ewing any differently, whether he poses
- 24:46Speaker 2: with Larry Oh or not. He didn't win it, and
- 24:49Speaker 2: I do think that it should just be about this team.
- 24:52Speaker 1: And you're not viewing Ewing as a champion all of
- 24:54Speaker 1: a sudden nostill.
- 24:57Speaker 2: He's still got be by a team. He still missed
- 24:59Speaker 2: a fing all, they still came up short ninety nine.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Like I lived through it. I remember it, so yes,
- 25:03Speaker 3: you know it to me was a little I don't know.
- 25:06Speaker 3: It's great if you want to feel that way, that's fine.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I just didn't need to see.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Well, now, what's funny about this conversation is it doesn't
- 25:11Speaker 1: matter how we feel although we'll pick it apart because
- 25:13Speaker 1: it's sports radio, it only matters if Jalen Brunson wants
- 25:16Speaker 1: to share it.
- 25:16Speaker 2: With Patrick Ewing, and he did right and I'm sure
- 25:19Speaker 2: he does. If I were Brunson, I would do the
- 25:20Speaker 2: same thing. Bronston's gotta feel great. He's got his, but
- 25:23Speaker 2: he now there's no doubt anymore that he surpasses Youing.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I would always say Ewing was the greatest Nick that
- 25:29Speaker 2: I've ever seen. I know Clyde from many people, they
- 25:31Speaker 2: would say the wal Clyde Fraser is their favorite, the
- 25:33Speaker 2: best nick that they've ever seen. I thought it was
- 25:36Speaker 2: even before the championship that Brunton surpassed Youing and now
- 25:39Speaker 2: by a landslide, Jalen Brunson is the greatest Nick that
- 25:41Speaker 2: I've ever seen.
- 25:43Speaker 4: So is there anything Aaron Judge could do to get
- 25:45Speaker 4: the King of New York title back?
- 25:46Speaker 3: Nope, Yeah, I'm with stew on this. I don't think so, Taylor.
- 25:49Speaker 2: It's different when you do it like how many how
- 25:53Speaker 2: many would Judge have to win with the Yankees to
- 25:55Speaker 2: equal this one by Brunson and the Knicks. And I
- 25:58Speaker 2: don't even think that there's an if he won five
- 26:01Speaker 2: in a row.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean brunts won.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I mean yeah, right, exactly right with this, this one
- 26:06Speaker 2: equals ten.
- 26:07Speaker 3: That means Judge would have to win ten in a row.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And even then when you end a drought like that
- 26:11Speaker 2: and do it with with the Knicks, as we talked about,
- 26:14Speaker 2: you know one table like the Knicks are, they are it.
- 26:18Speaker 2: They are the premier team in this town. When they
- 26:21Speaker 2: are good. Nothing can match it because of the unifier here.
- 26:24Speaker 2: So I don't think there's anything Judge could hit seventy
- 26:27Speaker 2: five homers go nuts in the postseason.
- 26:30Speaker 3: The Yankees could go undefeated.
- 26:31Speaker 2: In the postseason with Judge hitting five hundred along the way,
- 26:34Speaker 2: and it's still would not compare to what Jalen brunts.
- 26:36Speaker 6: And listen, you guys are prisoner of the moment, no way,
- 26:39Speaker 6: Aaron Judge. Aaron Judge's star power is so far beyond
- 26:44Speaker 6: Jalen Brunson. If he were to go to the World Series,
- 26:47Speaker 6: win the World Series, and be MVP of the World
- 26:49Speaker 6: Series carrying it, we're having the discussion all over again.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yes, we like absolutely.
- 26:56Speaker 4: I normally find myself some your corner. You know, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 4: when you come to your corner, you normally could find
- 27:03Speaker 4: me right there for you.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Not true.
- 27:05Speaker 1: But are you saying, are you his cut guy? What
- 27:07Speaker 1: are you? What are you doing? The corner man.
- 27:09Speaker 4: I'm in there, I'm in there. I'm looking at his face.
- 27:11Speaker 4: We're rubbing vasoline on it on.
- 27:13Speaker 1: It's just star power, right, yeah, you're get the puffiness
- 27:16Speaker 1: out of his eyes.
- 27:17Speaker 3: We got it.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Yes, right now, Mikey is coming back after this round
- 27:21Speaker 4: and he's looking at his opponent, and I'm with the
- 27:24Speaker 4: opponent right now because I'm not with my drag.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I gotcha. Listen, you're prisoner of the moment.
- 27:29Speaker 5: I expected from you today, this week, I expected this month,
- 27:32Speaker 5: I expected from you come October. If that were to happen,
- 27:36Speaker 5: I'm telling you the star power that Judge has versus
- 27:40Speaker 5: Jalen Brunson, Jalen Brunson did something.
- 27:43Speaker 1: That he will never buy another drink of New York again.
- 27:45Speaker 3: But the star power, it's it's not matched.
- 27:48Speaker 1: This is what Sally's trying to say. And he's exactly
- 27:50Speaker 1: right about this. If indeed the Yankees win a World
- 27:53Speaker 1: Series and Judges the World Series MVP, half of New
- 27:57Speaker 1: York won't be celebrating it. Shipple out in sag Halboro
- 28:00Speaker 1: on Long Island will not be celebrating that the Yankees
- 28:03Speaker 1: won a World Series. People in Port Washington, where I
- 28:05Speaker 1: grew up, will not be happy that the Yankees want
- 28:07Speaker 1: to win. Half the New York population will not be
- 28:11Speaker 1: happy that the Yankees won a World Series. This captured
- 28:15Speaker 1: all of New York, and it's the only team that
- 28:17Speaker 1: can capture all of New York.
- 28:19Speaker 2: And I think I think for two reasons this one
- 28:22Speaker 2: stands alone that which you just mentioned. It's the only
- 28:24Speaker 2: team that can capture all of New York plus the drought.
- 28:28Speaker 2: So if you ask me, like, okay, well, what could
- 28:30Speaker 2: be the next thing, right I told get to this
- 28:32Speaker 2: similar level, I think it will be the Jets winning
- 28:34Speaker 2: a Super Bowl. So let's say, let's say hypothetically whatever
- 28:38Speaker 2: star quarterback day pick Arch Manning just hypothetically comes here
- 28:42Speaker 2: and turns the Jets into a Super Bowl winner.
- 28:44Speaker 3: It's still not going to be all of New York.
- 28:47Speaker 2: But because of the drought, because they've been a laughing
- 28:50Speaker 2: stock for so long, that's the only thing that might
- 28:53Speaker 2: be able to come close. The Mets can't come close
- 28:55Speaker 2: to it, even though it's been forty years for them.
- 28:57Speaker 2: The Yankees, because it hasn't been that long for them.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I don't even I just don't think it compare even
- 29:01Speaker 2: with the star power of Aaron.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Judge, right, and I don't feel like we're being prisoners
- 29:05Speaker 1: of the moment. Mikey, I understand what you're saying. I'm
- 29:07Speaker 1: just saying, the Yankees have such a tradition of winning,
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's almost expected there. This was so unexpected. It was
- 29:13Speaker 1: so unexpected that this group of players would be the players,
- 29:17Speaker 1: three kids who played at Villanova would be the three
- 29:19Speaker 1: guys that would lead this team to an NBA title,
- 29:22Speaker 1: a team that had Patrick Ewick. I mean, it's crazy.
- 29:25Speaker 5: Team for team, you're gonna win player for player. I
- 29:28Speaker 5: think I think I think the star power is bigger.
- 29:30Speaker 5: All Right, we agree to disagree.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I guess it is.
- 29:34Speaker 3: It is something to think about.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Like, I understand why you're saying you has Brunton been
- 29:38Speaker 2: that level player in his career in the regular season
- 29:42Speaker 2: that Judge has been pound for about He's not. But
- 29:45Speaker 2: it doesn't matter when you talk about, like King of
- 29:47Speaker 2: New York, Jalen, Why be a king when you could
- 29:50Speaker 2: be a guy?
- 29:50Speaker 3: Jalen Brunson is a New York sports god.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that is Messy a jeter Eli and I think
- 29:57Speaker 2: Brunton surpasses them because he did it with one team
- 30:00Speaker 2: that unifies this city. I'm even for me, My guy
- 30:03Speaker 2: was always Messier, like, oh my god, Messier came here,
- 30:05Speaker 2: ended the drought delivering Stanley Cup. You could see the
- 30:07Speaker 2: relief in his face as he holds up Lord Stanley's Cup.
- 30:10Speaker 3: This surpasses that.
- 30:12Speaker 2: It's it's hard to explain, but because it's the unifier,
- 30:16Speaker 2: because of the drought, the Knicks and all the stuff
- 30:19Speaker 2: that we've suffered over the last thirty forty fifty years,
- 30:22Speaker 2: I don't think even the greatness of Aaron Judge could
- 30:24Speaker 2: come close to what Bruntson has done.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And because this was a guy that wasn't supposed to
- 30:28Speaker 1: be able to do it, you have to factor that
- 30:30Speaker 1: in Ewing was expected to win a title, Judge expected
- 30:34Speaker 1: to win championships and MVPs. No one expected this from
- 30:37Speaker 1: Jleb Brunson, Nobody including the team he was on before
- 30:40Speaker 1: the next the Dallas Mavericks. So I mean no one expected.
- 30:43Speaker 4: It, and Mikey knows. Again I'm always on Mikey's side.
- 30:47Speaker 4: This feels like we walked into the set of First take.
- 30:50Speaker 4: Somebody pitched the topic and was like, hey, we need
- 30:52Speaker 4: somebody on the other side. Straws, straws. Mikey drew the
- 30:55Speaker 4: straw there.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yes, he had to.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Defend Aaron Judge in this scenario.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Because he knows he's well. Mikey is a big sports fan.
- 31:01Speaker 1: He knows very well that he's on the wrong side
- 31:03Speaker 1: of this argument.
- 31:04Speaker 3: I know he does well because he hasn't done it.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I mean it's hard.
- 31:08Speaker 5: It's hard to say if he goes and does all
- 31:09Speaker 5: that stuff when he hasn't, so it's hard.
- 31:12Speaker 4: To Yeah, because I'm thinking about it, the Yankees could
- 31:15Speaker 4: be down three to zero to the Boston Red Sox
- 31:17Speaker 4: in the ALCS and Aaron Judge could hit four walk
- 31:20Speaker 4: off home runs, yeah, in four consecutive games the center
- 31:23Speaker 4: of the World Series, and then you sweep the Dodgers
- 31:26Speaker 4: four to oh where Aaron Judge bats five hundred like
- 31:29Speaker 4: South says, and he hit four walk off home runs again,
- 31:31Speaker 4: which is even impossible, because now that I'm thinking about it,
- 31:34Speaker 4: you can't hit a walk off home run.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Yeah, it's ridiculous.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I lost my point.
- 31:40Speaker 1: No, we get your larger point. He could have the
- 31:41Speaker 1: World Series of World series against the right teams. Alcs
- 31:44Speaker 1: then into the World Series, beat the Red Sox, beat
- 31:46Speaker 1: the Dodgers. Have seventeen home runs. The cords of those
- 31:50Speaker 1: eight games sweep both teams, and Brunton would still be
- 31:53Speaker 1: a bigger start.
- 31:54Speaker 4: In hindsight, It's hard for Aaron Judge to hit a
- 31:56Speaker 4: walk off home run at Fenway Park, correct.
- 31:59Speaker 2: I do think. I think your point, though, is an
- 32:02Speaker 2: excellent one to further it. So it's not just the unifier,
- 32:04Speaker 2: it's not just the drought. It's also a guy that
- 32:07Speaker 2: was an.
- 32:08Speaker 7: Underdog that was doubted his whole life. Yeah, that makes
- 32:11Speaker 7: it even more special. Like exactly, he embodies this city perfectly.
- 32:17Speaker 7: It doesn't get any more perfect than this. It doesn't
- 32:20Speaker 7: get any better than this. This is the most perfect
- 32:22Speaker 7: script you could possibly write. I wasn't sure that it
- 32:26Speaker 7: was going to end the right way.
- 32:27Speaker 3: You could see it.
- 32:28Speaker 2: This team played like a champion from the first postseason
- 32:30Speaker 2: game on. We hoped it would be the case, the
- 32:33Speaker 2: natural ascension and climb with Jalen Brunson, But he finished
- 32:37Speaker 2: the story, the storybook, ending the perfect script, writing whatever
- 32:41Speaker 2: you want to say, but all of it.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Because of who he is.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Taking less money to make his team better, all of it,
- 32:49Speaker 2: everybody doubting of all of it. Doing it with his
- 32:51Speaker 2: college teammates just incredible. I don't I really don't think
- 32:54Speaker 2: it can be it can be matched.
- 32:56Speaker 1: All Right, we have a new game here. One statue
- 32:58Speaker 1: in front of the Mecca. Okay, you can only choose one,
- 33:01Speaker 1: all right, Jalen Brunson just being Jalen Brunson or OG's
- 33:06Speaker 1: tip in at the end of game four.
- 33:09Speaker 3: Which one? Yeah, I would go Jalen Brunson.
- 33:11Speaker 1: I think I think O G fully extended tipping that
- 33:14Speaker 1: ball in, though, man, I mean, I.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Know that's a moment forever. Actually that's not a bad one.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I still think while we're playing the game, I gotta
- 33:21Speaker 2: stick to the game.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Was one.
- 33:23Speaker 2: I want to see a messier statue out there with
- 33:24Speaker 2: the cup. I get what you're saying. I would still got.
- 33:29Speaker 2: The tip is such a legendary play.
- 33:31Speaker 3: I think it would be.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Cool to see that and be like, oh, that's the
- 33:33Speaker 2: play that you know whatever, O G. But I still
- 33:35Speaker 2: think you gotta go Jalen Brunson. I just think he
- 33:37Speaker 2: deserves it more.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Did I take it too far by telling Michael Jordan's
- 33:41Speaker 1: statue to go f itself and that we won the title.
- 33:44Speaker 1: When I walked past the United Center yesterday today.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Did you I actually told my buddy that I was
- 33:48Speaker 2: with in San Antonio. He was flying through Chicago for business.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I go, dude, you gotta go take a picture in
- 33:53Speaker 2: front of that Jordan statue.
- 33:54Speaker 3: And we were thinking along the same lines. I love
- 33:56Speaker 3: it you.
- 33:57Speaker 2: We may not get to taste this championship, but we
- 34:00Speaker 2: can say screw you, Reggie, screw you Michael, all those guys,
- 34:03Speaker 2: all those villains, it is.
- 34:03Speaker 3: It's for you. Take that.
- 34:05Speaker 1: So this is how crazy this story is making me.
- 34:07Speaker 1: I'm talking to statues. Okay, the Salicatta Show, wherever you
- 34:15Speaker 1: get your podcasts, go repair your relationship with your wife.
- 34:18Speaker 3: I hope it works out. Thank you, guys, appreciate it.
