December 28 - A Life That Remains Awake · Bible Chat Devotional

• 0:02
Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
• 0:06
rooted in scripture and relevant for today, December 28th.
• 0:11
Speak up and shine bright. Have you ever watched something
• 0:14
wrong happen and felt that battle inside?
• 0:16
I should say something, but then fear kicks in.
• 0:19
Fear of being laughed at, fear of losing friends, Fear of
• 0:22
making it worse. Proverbs chapter 31 verse 8 is
• 0:26
direct. Open your mouth for the mute,
• 0:28
for the rights of all who are destitute.
• 0:30
God cares about justice, kindness, and courage, and He
• 0:34
calls his people to use their voices for good, especially for
• 0:37
those who feel powerless. And Psalm 148 reminds you that
• 0:41
your life has a bigger purpose than fitting in.
• 0:44
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in
• 0:47
the heights. Everything God made is meant to
• 0:49
point back to Him, including you.
• 0:52
Praise isn't just singing on a Sunday.
• 0:54
Praise is how you live on a Tuesday.
• 0:56
It's choosing integrity when gossip is easy.
• 0:59
It's choosing compassion when people are cruel.
• 1:02
It's using your platform, whether that's social media or
• 1:05
your lunch table, to reflect God's heart.
• 1:07
Then First Thessalonians chapter 5 verses 9 to 10 says, For God
• 1:12
has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through
• 1:15
our Lord Jesus Christ who died for us so that we might live
• 1:19
with him. Jesus didn't die so you could
• 1:21
live afraid and silent. He died so you could live awake,
• 1:25
clear minded, full of hope, full of purpose.
• 1:28
When you know you belong to Jesus and your future is secure,
• 1:31
you can speak up with love and shine with courage, even when it
• 1:34
costs you something. So ask God for one brave step,
• 1:38
one moment of truth spoken kindly, one act of protection
• 1:42
for someone being targeted. 1 encouraging message to someone
• 1:45
who feels invisible. Your voice matters when it's
• 1:48
  rooted in Jesus. Let's pray.
• 1:50
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me a voice and calling me
• 1:53
to use it for good. Give me courage to speak up for
• 1:56
those who can't speak for themselves and wisdom to do it
• 1:59
with love. Let my life be praise, shining
• 2:02
your light in everyday choices. Thank you for salvation through
• 2:05
Jesus and help me live awake, ready and faithful in Jesus
• 2:09
name, Amen. Imagine stepping into a new year
• 2:13
with clarity in your spirit, strength in your soul, and the
• 2:16

• 3:23
Proverbs 31 one to nine world English Bible The words of King
• 3:27
Lemuel, the revelation which his mother taught him.
• 3:30
Oh my son, oh son of my womb, oh son of my vows, don't give your
• 3:34
strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
• 3:38
It is not for King's Lemuel. It is not for kings to drink
• 3:41
wine, nor for Princess to say where is strong.
• 3:43
Drink, lest they drink and forget the law and pervert the
• 3:47
justice due to anyone who is afflicted.
• 3:49
Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish, and wine to the
• 3:52
bitter in soul. Let him drink and forget his
• 3:55
poverty and remember his misery no more.
• 3:58
Open your mouth for the mute in the cause of all who are left
• 4:01
  desolate. Open your mouth, judge
• 4:03
righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.
• 4:06
Psalm 148 World English Bible Praise Yah, Praise Yahweh from
• 4:11
the heavens. Praise Him in the heights,
• 4:13
praise Him all His angels, praise Him, all His army, praise
• 4:17
Him. Sun and moon, praise Him.
• 4:19
All you shining stars praise Him.
• 4:21
You heavens of heavens, you waters that are above the
• 4:24
heavens, let them praise Yahweh's name.
• 4:26
For He commanded and they were created.
• 4:28
He has also established them forever and ever.
• 4:31
He has made a decree which will not pass away.
• 4:34
Praise Yahweh from the earth, You great sea creatures and all
• 4:37
depths, Lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy wind,
• 4:40
fulfilling His word, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and
• 4:43
all Cedars, wild animals and all livestock, small creatures and
• 4:47
flying birds, Kings of the earth and all peoples, Princess and
• 4:51
all judges of the earth, both young men and maidens, old men
• 4:54
and children. Let them praise Yahweh's name,
• 4:57
for His name alone is exalted. His glory is above the earth and
• 5:01
the heavens. He has lifted up the horn of his
• 5:03
people, the praise of all His Saints, even of the children of
• 5:06
Israel, a people near to him praise Yah.
• 5:09
First Thessalonians 4 to 5 World English Bible Finally then,
• 5:14
brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus.
• 5:18
That is, you received from us how you ought to walk, and to
• 5:20
please God, that you abound more and more.
• 5:23
For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord
• 5:25
Jesus. For this is the will of God,
• 5:28
your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,
• 5:32
that each one of you know how to control his own body in
• 5:35
sanctification and honor, not in the passion of lust.
• 5:38
Even as the Gentiles who don't know God, that no one should
• 5:42
take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this
• 5:44
matter, because the Lord is an avenger in all these things.
• 5:48
As also we forewarned you and testified.
• 5:51
For God called us not for uncleanness, but in
• 5:53
sanctification. Therefore he who rejects this
• 5:56
doesn't reject man, but God, who has also given His Holy Spirit
• 6:00
to you. But concerning brotherly love,
• 6:03
you have no need that one right to you.
• 6:05
For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.
• 6:08
For indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all
• 6:11
Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers,
• 6:14
that you abound more and more, and that you make it your
• 6:17
ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business and
• 6:20
to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you, that
• 6:24
you may walk properly toward those who are outside and may
• 6:27
have need of nothing. But we don't want you to be
• 6:29
ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so
• 6:33
that you don't grieve like the rest who have no hope.
• 6:36
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, Even so God
• 6:40
will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
• 6:43
For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are
• 6:46
alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no
• 6:50
way precede those who have fallen asleep.
• 6:52
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a
• 6:54
shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with God's
• 6:57
trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise
• 6:59
first. Then we who are alive, who are
• 7:02
left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet
• 7:05
the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord
• 7:08
  forever. Therefore comfort one another
• 7:10
with these words, but concerning the times and the seasons.
• 7:14
Brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
• 7:17
For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes
• 7:20
like a thief in the night. For when they are saying peace
• 7:23
and safety, then sudden destruction will come on them
• 7:26
like birth pains on a pregnant woman, Then they will in no way
• 7:29
escape. But you, brothers, aren't in
• 7:32
darkness that the day should overtake you like a thief.
• 7:35
You are all children of light and children of the day.
• 7:38
We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness.
• 7:40
So then let's not sleep as the rest do, but let's watch and be
• 7:44
sober for those who sleep, sleep in the night, and those who are
• 7:48
drunk are drunk in the night. But since we belong to the day,
• 7:51
let's be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love,
• 7:54
and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
• 7:57
For God didn't appoint us to wrath, but to the obtaining of
• 8:00
salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that
• 8:04
whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
• 8:07
Therefore exhort one another and build each other up, even as you
• 8:11
also do. But we beg you, brothers, to
• 8:13
know those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord,
• 8:16
and admonish you, and to respect and honor them in love for their
• 8:20
work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
• 8:23
We exhort you, brothers, admonish the disorderly,
• 8:26
encourage the faint hearted, support the weak, Be patient
• 8:29
toward all. See that no one returns evil for
• 8:32
evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good
• 8:36
for one another and for all. Always rejoice.
• 8:38
  Pray without ceasing in everything.
• 8:40
Give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus
• 8:43
toward you. Don't quench the Spirit.
• 8:46
Don't despise prophecies. Test all things and hold firmly
• 8:50
that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil.
• 8:53
May the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely.
• 8:56
May your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at
• 9:00
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
• 9:02
He who calls you as faithful, who will also do it.
• 9:05
Brothers, pray for us. Greet all the brothers with a
• 9:08
holy kiss. I solemnly command you by the
• 9:11
Lord that this letter be read. To all the holy brothers, the
• 9:14
grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
• 9:17
Amen. Thanks for joining us on Bible
