- 0:21Speaker 1: A sad day today as legendary coach Mike Ditka has
- 0:25Speaker 1: passed away at the age of 86. Just one of
- 0:29Speaker 1: those figures, NFL figures. Mikey, you and I started God
- 0:32Speaker 1: Bless Football together. We love football. love football. And Mike
- 0:37Speaker 1: Ditka is just one of those guys, at least for me,
- 0:40Speaker 1: and I know we're different ages now, but at least
- 0:42Speaker 1: for me, is just one of those figures that you
- 0:45Speaker 1: grew up, I don't.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Want to say worshiping.
- 0:47Speaker 1: He was just such a big, colossal figure and one
- 0:51Speaker 1: of the NFL's biggest and best head coaches. And he
- 0:54Speaker 1: has passed away here at the age of 86. He
- 0:56Speaker 1: lived a good life. He's a Super Bowl champion. He
- 0:59Speaker 1: was the coach of maybe the best defense in the
- 1:01Speaker 1: history of the NFL. and possibly one of the best
- 1:04Speaker 1: teams in NFL history. And so today is a sad day,
- 1:08Speaker 1: even while saying he has lived a good, long, productive life,
- 1:12Speaker 1: 86 years of age. But I am told that Taylor
- 1:16Speaker 1: wants to celebrate here Mike Ditka, and we should celebrate
- 1:19Speaker 1: the life of Mike Ditka today with a Mount Rushmore.
- 1:23Speaker 2: And I am very excited about that. What is this
- 1:26Speaker 2: Mount Rushmore?
- 1:29Speaker 3: So the Mount Rushmore, in honor of Mike Ditka, it's
- 1:32Speaker 3: the Mount Rushmore of people who wore a vest.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That's a good one.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I've got two that need to be on there, and
- 1:43Speaker 4: I'm nervous that they're not.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Time out, time out. So when he said that, Mount
- 1:49Speaker 1: Rushmore of people who wore a vest.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Your mind already went to two people. Yes, that's crazy
- 1:55Speaker 3: to me.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Yes, really.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Two people listen you're gonna bring up an icon like
- 2:01Speaker 4: mike ditka who absolutely should be on this list and
- 2:03Speaker 4: i'm assuming that the whole reason we're doing it is
- 2:06Speaker 4: because he's one of the.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Four um you know you better do it right that's
- 2:10Speaker 5: all i'm saying.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Oh i have one i don't want to say it
- 2:15Speaker 2: i want to ruin the mount rushmore here.
- 2:17Speaker 3: No i you guys might have your list i might
- 2:19Speaker 3: have my list.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Okay i thought it was gonna be are.
- 2:21Speaker 4: You getting are you getting nervous taylor that you forgot somebody.
- 2:25Speaker 3: No I'm very confident in my four.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Okay, we'll fill in the gaps if indeed he did
- 2:31Speaker 1: forget someone. Do you have imaging for this?
- 2:33Speaker 2: What are we doing here?
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yes, we have music.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Wow. Amazing.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Nice.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Mike Ditka. Passes away at the age of 86. Mikey,
- 2:45Speaker 1: you would say, I would say Mike Ditka might be
- 2:49Speaker 1: trying to think of the Mount Rushmore of You can
- 2:52Speaker 1: make the argument that Ditka is the most iconic figure
- 2:55Speaker 1: in NFL history, I think. He would be on the
- 2:57Speaker 1: Mount Rushmore of iconic... I don't know, Woody? Of iconic
- 3:01Speaker 1: NFL figures.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It's like Belichick, Parcells, Ditka, Madden.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Madden's certainly on there.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Lombardi.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Lombardi's certainly on there. Just figures, right?
- 3:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, if we're going coaches, then yeah, absolutely.
- 3:18Speaker 3: To me, as someone born in 1994... I missed the
- 3:22Speaker 3: majority of Mike Ditka's coaching career. I think he was
- 3:25Speaker 3: still coaching in, what, 1998, 1999, at the very tail
- 3:28Speaker 3: end of his career. I know Coach Ditka for one thing,
- 3:31Speaker 3: kicking and screaming. I cleared my calendar tonight. My household,
- 3:35Speaker 3: we're watching, kicking, and screaming.
- 3:37Speaker 6: Really?
- 3:37Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:39Speaker 1: You don't know him from the Chicago Bears for trading
- 3:42Speaker 1: an entire draft class for Ricky Williams.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Three-time Super Bowl champion, five-time Pro Bowler, two-time AP NFL
- 3:47Speaker 3: Coach of the Year, Pro Football Hall of Fame class
- 3:50Speaker 3: of 1988.
- 3:51Speaker 2: He had Ricky Williams dressed in a wedding gown.
- 3:54Speaker 1: He traded an entire draft class when he was the
- 3:57Speaker 1: head coach of the Saints to get Ricky Williams.
- 3:59Speaker 2: I think it was on ESPN, the magazine. On the cover.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I actually do remember that. Very faintly.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yes. All right.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Go ahead with your Mount Rushmore of people who wear
- 4:09Speaker 1: a vest.
- 4:11Speaker 3: So I have one honorable mention.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Han Solo. Because Han Solo is a great character. He
- 4:19Speaker 3: just happens to wear a vest. That's very different from
- 4:22Speaker 3: being a great vest wearer. Because when you think of
- 4:25Speaker 3: Han Solo, you think Millennium Falcon, you think Chewbacca, the Blaster,
- 4:29Speaker 3: Princess Leia. Best case scenario, I think the vest might
- 4:33Speaker 3: be like the fifth best thing you think of when
- 4:35Speaker 3: you think of Han Solo. He's bigger than the vest,
- 4:37Speaker 3: which I think is a compliment to Han Solo.
- 4:39Speaker 2: He is bigger than the vest. Put it on the poll.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Is Han Solo bigger than the vest? He's more than
- 4:45Speaker 2: just a vest. You're right. That is not someone who
- 4:48Speaker 2: dawned on me, Mikey, eh?
- 4:50Speaker 5: No, it's a good O-L-I.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Was it one of your two, though?
- 4:56Speaker 3: No.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Okay. It wasn't my one. I only have one.
- 5:02Speaker 3: My first spot on the Mount Rushmore. So all these
- 5:04Speaker 3: spots are pretty interchangeable. Like, that's the difference between my
- 5:08Speaker 3: Mount Rushmore and Stu Gatz's top five. You said it
- 5:11Speaker 3: was an OLI. Mikey, it was an honorable mention. Sorry.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Semantics. I mean, he takes these things very seriously.
- 5:18Speaker 3: My first spot.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Aladdin.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I do like the idea of a Mount Rushmore just
- 5:25Speaker 1: having a guy on the outside looking in.
- 5:26Speaker 7: One mountain over?
- 5:29Speaker 2: Yeah, like off to the side.
- 5:30Speaker 5: One mountain over facing the Mount Rushmore? I like that.
- 5:33Speaker 2: He's outside the Mount Rushmore, but he's looking in.
- 5:36Speaker 3: So the reason why I'm giving Aladdin the first spot, innovative.
- 5:43Speaker 3: He went with the vest and nothing underneath the vest,
- 5:46Speaker 3: which we rarely see people do. So he gets style
- 5:49Speaker 3: points for the creativity there.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Yes, the rare wear of a vest without a shirt underneath. Correct, yes.
- 5:56Speaker 5: You got to be a beggar to pull that off.
- 5:57Speaker 5: If I do that, nobody's happy.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Nobody's asking for that.
- 6:02Speaker 7: Nobody's happy with that.
- 6:05Speaker 3: My second spot on the Mount Rushmore of people who
- 6:08Speaker 3: wore a vest.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:11Speaker 3: The biggest competitor in sports, in terms of the sports
- 6:14Speaker 3: category for this, Jim Trestle.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:17Speaker 3: That red Ohio State vest.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Timeless that was mine yep that's the guy i wrote
- 6:23Speaker 1: down one name jim trestle and if.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I could if i could circle back to han solo
- 6:27Speaker 3: for a second think han solo again yeah you take
- 6:30Speaker 3: the vest off solo right he's solo still you take
- 6:33Speaker 3: the vest off trestle and he almost looks naked.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Uh put it on the pole if you take the
- 6:38Speaker 1: vest off of han solo is he still han solo.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And if you take the vest off of Jim Trestle,
- 6:43Speaker 2: is he just naked?
- 6:46Speaker 3: You'd agree, though.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yes. I would not recognize him without the vest.
- 6:50Speaker 3: It's almost like Clark Kent when he puts on the
- 6:52Speaker 3: glasses and you're like, whoa, is that Superman? And nobody
- 6:56Speaker 3: in the town can tell it's Superman. It's like, he
- 6:58Speaker 3: just put on glasses.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That feels like Jim Trestle, where I wouldn't be able
- 7:01Speaker 3: to recognize Jim Trestle if he was walking down the street.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Unless he put on the sweater vest and I go, oh,
- 7:06Speaker 3: there's Jim Trestle, great Ohio State coach.
- 7:08Speaker 1: Please put both of those on the poll separately, okay?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Here's the thing. You brought up an interesting point, Mikey.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I'll get to you in just a second.
- 7:17Speaker 1: If Han Solo was walking down the street without the
- 7:20Speaker 1: black vest on, and it's just him, there's a chance
- 7:25Speaker 1: I would not recognize Han Solo.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Correct.
- 7:27Speaker 2: He puts that black vest on, though. It changes everything.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I know exactly who it is.
- 7:32Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 7:33Speaker 6: I do.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Hmm.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I think the vest is more to Han Solo than
- 7:37Speaker 1: you're giving credit to the vest for.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Does that make sense?
- 7:42Speaker 3: I'll hear that argument.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Okay. Thanks. Yeah, Mike.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I'm getting nervous because I've got two names.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And there's two spots.
- 7:48Speaker 5: And he's got two spots left.
- 7:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:50Speaker 5: And he hasn't said Mike Ditka yet.
- 7:53Speaker 4: Right.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Why two spots, though?
- 7:54Speaker 2: Yes. Well, he's going to say Mike Ditka.
- 7:56Speaker 5: So you're going to leave off one of my people.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yes. The math doesn't work for Mikey. Right. Okay. Wow. Yes.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Because you had to go with Aladdin.
- 8:04Speaker 3: So my third spot on the mount rushmore of people
- 8:06Speaker 3: who wore a vest this comes from my favorite movie
- 8:11Speaker 3: of all time marty mcfly the red puffer.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Vest absolutely excellent the.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Red puffer vest is in the conversation for most recognizable
- 8:20Speaker 3: outfit in movie history okay love that movie love marty
- 8:24Speaker 3: mcfly That was one of yours, Mikey? That was the
- 8:28Speaker 3: first name I thought of. That's huge for me. It's
- 8:30Speaker 3: Marty McFly.
- 8:31Speaker 4: All right.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Marty McFly is– But his second.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Name– They think he's wearing a life vest. Yeah, it's perfect.
- 8:37Speaker 1: But your second name won't be there because it's reserved
- 8:39Speaker 1: for Mike Ditka, I'm assuming, right?
- 8:41Speaker 4: It doesn't surprise me that Taylor left this person off.
- 8:44Speaker 4: I think Stugatz, when I say it, you would put
- 8:47Speaker 4: them on there.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Okay.
- 8:49Speaker 3: And then my fourth spot on the Mount Rushmore, people
- 8:53Speaker 3: who wore a vest– It's Coach. It's Mike Ditka. Mike
- 8:56Speaker 3: Ditka's vest transcended football. It became a part of Chicago culture.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Once it becomes a Halloween costume, that's how you know
- 9:06Speaker 3: you've really made it in the vest world, and Mike
- 9:08Speaker 3: Ditka made it. I think you can make the argument
- 9:11Speaker 3: this week, Chicago, Ben Johnson, he should be wearing a vest.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Yeah, in honor of Mike.
- 9:16Speaker 5: Yes.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but he won't.
- 9:19Speaker 3: You never know with Ben Johnson. He's a psycho. He
- 9:21Speaker 3: might pull out a vest.
- 9:22Speaker 2: That guy's blazing his own path. He thinks he's a
- 9:24Speaker 2: better coach than Mike Ditka. No.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Yes, he does.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Oh, no. Deep down inside, he does.
- 9:28Speaker 4: No.
- 9:29Speaker 3: I think in Chicago, Mike Ditka is reserved to that, like,
- 9:33Speaker 3: Michael Jordan, like, rarefied air conversation where no bull coming
- 9:38Speaker 3: through Chicago knows they'll ever be able to, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 3: surpass what Michael Jordan did for that city. I think
- 9:44Speaker 3: that's a similar effect that Chicago coaches have. Like Mark
- 9:49Speaker 3: Trestman never thought he would be bigger than.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Sure, of course.
- 9:52Speaker 3: But also like Mark Trestman never really gave us much
- 9:54Speaker 3: reason to believe he could be bigger than Ditka.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Is Mike Ditka on the Mount Rushmore of Chicago situation?
- 10:00Speaker 2: sports figures? I'm not even certain he is. Ditka? Oh, yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 3: It's not even close, dude.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Wait, before you say, oh, yeah, okay, Michael.
- 10:07Speaker 5: He's the second name on that list.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Jordan?
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:11Speaker 5: One.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Halas?
- 10:14Speaker 5: Nope.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Ernie Banks?
- 10:16Speaker 5: No.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Ditka.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Ditka.
- 10:17Speaker 4: Mr.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Cub? Mr.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Cub?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Mr.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Cup would like a word, but not before Mike Ditka.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Mr.
- 10:23Speaker 5: Cup would like a word. And he's on the Mount Rushmore.
- 10:25Speaker 2: He's on the Mount Rushmore.
- 10:27Speaker 3: But he's to the- Sweetness.
- 10:28Speaker 2: He's- Thank you.
- 10:29Speaker 7: No, it's Ditka.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Ditka.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Walter Payton. Ditka. Phil Jackson.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Phil Jackson.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Ditka.
- 10:39Speaker 5: Come on.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Phil.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Get Phil out of here. Come on.
- 10:41Speaker 2: He wants six.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Michael won six. Yeah. I think you can make the argument.
- 10:47Speaker 5: Not everybody can take credit for six championships.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 10:49Speaker 5: Michael's got that credit.
- 10:50Speaker 3: You can make the argument that going to LA was
- 10:53Speaker 3: bigger for Phil Jackson's legacy and doing it a second
- 10:56Speaker 3: time in a different city.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I mean, how about Eddie Belfour?
- 11:00Speaker 3: Patrick Kane?
- 11:01Speaker 4: How?
- 11:02Speaker 5: How about Mike?
- 11:04Speaker 2: How about Mike? Chellios is on there though. Mikey is
- 11:08Speaker 2: thinking Chellios might be on there, right?
- 11:10Speaker 4: Uh, listen, there's, there's going to be a lot of
- 11:12Speaker 4: people fighting for that fourth spot right now.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I've got it because Chicago is a bear's town. I
- 11:18Speaker 5: got it. Leaning Walter Payton.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Okay. Sweet. I have it.
- 11:21Speaker 3: By the way, I have it as Jordan, Walter Payton,
- 11:25Speaker 3: Ernie Banks, Mike Ditka.
- 11:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the same four. I've got to say it again.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Michael Jordan, Mike Ditka, Walter Payton, Ernie Banks.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I mean, we're leaving off George Hallis.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Bobby Hull.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Bobby Hull.
- 11:43Speaker 3: I just think the Blackhawks, like in that town, like
- 11:46Speaker 3: they're the very clear like fourth. Frank Thomas, Big Hurt.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Like Brian Urlacher would probably like a word, but when
- 11:57Speaker 3: you have Ditka and you have Walter Payton, all of
- 11:59Speaker 3: a sudden in a A four-sport town, it's hard to
- 12:03Speaker 3: get three Bears representatives.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Sports figures, Mount Rushmore. Who was the Cubs manager when
- 12:10Speaker 1: they won the World Series, when they broke the curse?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Joe Maddon.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Joe Maddon.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, he's not on there.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Fraud.
- 12:14Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 12:15Speaker 3: With your glasses, Joe Maddon, I think you're so much
- 12:19Speaker 3: smarter than everybody.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Mikey, who's the guy he didn't put on here?
- 12:25Speaker 5: Rex Ryan.
- 12:26Speaker 7: Oh, wow.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Rex Ryan.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Sweater, though.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Rex.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Sweater vest, you're right.
- 12:32Speaker 5: Ditka's wasn't a sweater vest? No, it was.
- 12:35Speaker 2: But Han Solo, I feel like it was leather. I mean.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Definitely a different material.
- 12:40Speaker 7: It was tactical.
- 12:41Speaker 5: It was tactical. Whatever Han Solo's vest was, it was tactical.
- 12:44Speaker 3: I feel like by the end of Rex Ryan's career, though,
- 12:47Speaker 3: he abandoned the sweater vest.
- 12:49Speaker 4: No, he just went to Buffalo where you could only
- 12:51Speaker 4: wear it for so long before you had to just
- 12:53Speaker 4: put on a big jacket.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Am I misremembering him wearing polos, though? I don't know.
- 12:58Speaker 3: When I think of Rex Ryan.
- 12:59Speaker 2: You are. Really?
- 13:00Speaker 5: Really.
- 13:01Speaker 4: Yeah, Rex Ryan in the black sweater vest.
- 13:04Speaker 3: For the Jets, yes, I remember that very vividly.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yes, yes, the golden age.
- 13:11Speaker 5: By the way, Chicago sports, they're having a moment.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Chicago sports fans, I went and just saw my barber,
- 13:19Speaker 4: who's a big Chicago fan, and he was trying to
- 13:22Speaker 4: convince me Tyson Bajan could start for half the NFL.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Well, he's wrong.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Oh, I had to tell him that, but I had
- 13:29Speaker 5: to tell him nicely. I mean, the man does cut
- 13:31Speaker 5: my hair.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I understand. It's a special Beijing.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Dangerous game.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Wait, so.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Your barber was trying to convince you, and I love
- 13:43Speaker 1: sitting in a barber's chair and they're talking sports with
- 13:45Speaker 1: you and they're just talking your ear off. He tried
- 13:48Speaker 1: to convince you that Tyson Beijing could start for half
- 13:50Speaker 1: the NFL teams?
- 13:52Speaker 5: First off, Stu.
- 13:53Speaker 4: I am losing my hair so fast. The only reason
- 13:56Speaker 4: I still go to the barbershop is to have these debates.
- 13:59Speaker 4: The only reason I don't need to do anything.
- 14:02Speaker 3: One of the best places for just good sports talk.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I know, but don't you shut the guy up after he's,
- 14:06Speaker 1: you know, once he's done telling you, hey, Tyson Bajak
- 14:08Speaker 1: can start for half the NFL teams.
- 14:10Speaker 2: What's your response to that? No, he can't.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Is Ben Johnson going with him?
- 14:16Speaker 4: It just erupts in a whole lot of people screaming
- 14:19Speaker 4: at each other about how, how could you say he's
- 14:21Speaker 4: starting over this guy?
- 14:22Speaker 5: That guy's starting. Everybody's checking stats on their phone. It's
- 14:25Speaker 5: a whole thing.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I got it.
- 14:27Speaker 3: If you had to rank the spots most likely to
- 14:29Speaker 3: find first take on somewhere, barbershops have to be number one, right?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Airports. Yep.
- 14:34Speaker 5: Airport bars especially. The airport Chili's definitely has.
- 14:39Speaker 7: First take on it.
- 14:42Speaker 2: It was a delight walking through airports when we worked.
- 14:45Speaker 1: At ESPN and just seeing my face on all the
- 14:47Speaker 1: televisions for a show we did seven hours before.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Can we put this on the poll? What's more likely
- 14:53Speaker 3: to have first take on at any given moment? The
- 14:56Speaker 3: barbershop or the airport Chili's?
- 14:59Speaker 2: Yes, put that on the poll.
- 15:03Speaker 5: And I don't know that there's an answer.
- 15:05Speaker 3: It's going to come back 50-50.
- 15:06Speaker 2: 99%. Yes, also put this on the poll.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Not the way to honor Mike Ditka today, but does
- 15:11Speaker 1: Ben Johnson think he's a better coach than Mike Ditka?
- 15:14Speaker 3: Probably wait until next week to put that on.
- 15:16Speaker 5: Yeah, let's not put that on this week.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Let's just go ahead and let it breathe a minute.
- 15:22Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Too soon?
- 15:23Speaker 2: Okay. Okay.
- 15:25Speaker 1: All right, well, that concludes our discussion about Mike Ditka
- 15:28Speaker 1: and Vest.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Let's get to NFL tears. Taylor has tears, Mike.
- 15:32Speaker 1: He has NFL tears for the games this weekend, and
- 15:35Speaker 1: I think he wants us a little wrinkle here. for
- 15:37Speaker 1: us to guess what tier each game goes in.
- 15:39Speaker 2: How about that?
- 15:40Speaker 5: A little wrinkle like we did last time.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Mikey A is the best at this, I think, guessing.
- 15:46Speaker 2: He's so good.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Yeah, Mikey is like in my mind. When I read
- 15:49Speaker 3: the category of a game, Mikey could go to it immediately.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I know, and I'm so bad I forgot we did
- 15:54Speaker 2: this last week. Go ahead. Let's take it away with
- 15:57Speaker 2: your tears, Taylor.
- 16:00Speaker 3: The first game, an off-the-schneid game, And.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Off the schneid to a battle of winless teams, I'm assuming.
- 16:12Speaker 5: Off the schneid. No, it is not a battle of
- 16:14Speaker 5: winless teams.
- 16:15Speaker 4: It's a battle against two teams that lost last week
- 16:18Speaker 4: that are looking to bounce back.
- 16:21Speaker 2: That's bounce-back game, though. That's the bounce-back tier, no?
- 16:23Speaker 3: Yeah, this is an off-the-schneid game.
- 16:25Speaker 2: I think it's Titans-Texans.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Stu, you got it!
- 16:27Speaker 2: How about that?
- 16:28Speaker 3: It's Texans-Titans. One of these two teams is going to
- 16:31Speaker 3: get off the schneid.
- 16:31Speaker 2: How did this morph into some sort of competition here?
- 16:35Speaker 3: We compete. We compete at everything here.
- 16:38Speaker 5: We're always competing, yes.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I think the Texans get off the schneid, right?
- 16:41Speaker 2: I do too, yes. The Titans are bad.
- 16:42Speaker 3: The Titans got no shot.
- 16:44Speaker 4: D'Amico Ryans is taking over play calling.
- 16:47Speaker 3: No, of course.
- 16:48Speaker 2: For the defense.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, this is such a trend in the NFL. D'Amico
- 16:51Speaker 3: Ryans taking over play calling. Sean Payton coming to save
- 16:54Speaker 3: the Broncos offense all of a sudden.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Give me a break, NFL coaches. Do it against Buffalo.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Take over the play calling. Do it against Cam Ward. Hey,
- 17:04Speaker 2: tip of the hat.
- 17:04Speaker 5: That's smart. Stu Gatz is strong in him.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Heady play.
- 17:07Speaker 3: My next game. The Pretender and Contender game. So one
- 17:12Speaker 3: of these teams is going to get elevated to Contender.
- 17:15Speaker 3: One of these teams is going to be de-elevated, de-escalated
- 17:21Speaker 3: to Pretender.
- 17:23Speaker 2: How do you have it so quickly?
- 17:25Speaker 4: Because I knew it was going to come into this
- 17:27Speaker 4: kind of category when I saw the game. Do you
- 17:32Speaker 4: need a second or should I just tell them my guess?
- 17:34Speaker 2: Great audio.
- 17:35Speaker 5: We wait.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Well, we have the NFL and Fox music, too, to
- 17:40Speaker 3: help out.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It's always there for us. Pretender, contender. Mikey, go ahead.
- 17:47Speaker 5: It's Raiders Patriots.
- 17:48Speaker 3: It's Raiders Patriots.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I was going to guess that. If I'm being honest,
- 17:51Speaker 2: I was going to guess that, okay? I'm rarely being honest.
- 17:54Speaker 3: We're going into this game very confused about what two
- 17:58Speaker 3: directions these two teams are headed. Feels like we're going
- 18:01Speaker 3: to get some clarity after this game. One of these
- 18:02Speaker 3: two teams is going to jump into contender status.
- 18:05Speaker 2: I'm sorry to get all Izzy on you, but I
- 18:06Speaker 2: have some follow-ups here.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Yep.
- 18:09Speaker 1: What if the Patriots win that game? I don't know.
- 18:14Speaker 6: 27-24.
- 18:14Speaker 1: The Raiders are 3-2. The Patriots are 3-2. You're saying
- 18:17Speaker 1: the Pats are a contender and the Raiders are not?
- 18:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the Pats are going to move up to contender
- 18:21Speaker 3: just because last year all we heard about was their
- 18:24Speaker 3: schedule was so easy. And every time everybody mentions that,
- 18:27Speaker 3: there's never any mention that, The Patriots went on the
- 18:30Speaker 3: road and beat the Bills last year and somehow did
- 18:32Speaker 3: it again this year. Drake May needs as many notches
- 18:35Speaker 3: on his belt as he can against quality teams, and
- 18:38Speaker 3: I think the Raiders check off the box of being
- 18:40Speaker 3: a quality team right now.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I mean, they lucked into playing a quality team.
- 18:44Speaker 1: No one expected the Raiders to be a quality team
- 18:46Speaker 1: five weeks into the season.
- 18:48Speaker 3: You can only play who's on your schedule.
- 18:49Speaker 2: You're right. I'm sorry. All right, good guess, Mikey.
- 18:52Speaker 3: My next game, a February comes early game.
- 18:59Speaker 5: Oh, that one's on Monday night.
- 19:02Speaker 4: Isn't it?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Sunday or Monday. It has to be, right?
- 19:06Speaker 5: I believe that one's on Monday night.
- 19:08Speaker 2: It is Bill's Rams.
- 19:10Speaker 3: It's Bill's Rams. If I tell you guys, fast forward,
- 19:14Speaker 3: close your eyes right now and picture we're at Radio Row.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And the game we're talking about, the game we're previewing
- 19:22Speaker 3: is Bill's versus Rams. Yes. Sign me up for that
- 19:26Speaker 3: right now. Rams playing in their home stadium?
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yes. Sign me up for that as well.
- 19:30Speaker 3: Josh Allen in his first Super Bowl?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yep.
- 19:33Speaker 3: That would be Josh Allen getting off the schnod too.
- 19:35Speaker 2: It would be, yes.
- 19:36Speaker 3: The postseason schnod.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Yep. Who would you be rooting for in that game?
- 19:41Speaker 2: Allen to win his first or Stafford to win his second? Rams.
- 19:46Speaker 3: I hate to say it.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 19:47Speaker 3: I'm rooting for Josh Allen.
- 19:48Speaker 2: So am I. I love him.
- 19:50Speaker 3: I do.
- 19:51Speaker 2: I love him.
- 19:51Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Every time I watch a video of Josh Allen and
- 19:55Speaker 3: you see more of Josh Allen's personality. Yes. It's hard
- 19:58Speaker 3: not to fall in love with him. I know Mikey
- 20:00Speaker 3: does the whole thing. Oh, Josh Allen, you're too big
- 20:02Speaker 3: to flop. Pick a side, Josh Allen. And then you
- 20:05Speaker 3: see a video of Josh Allen going to the children's
- 20:07Speaker 3: hospitals in Buffalo and spending all his off time being
- 20:11Speaker 3: this icon in the Buffalo community. It's like, I want
- 20:15Speaker 3: to see this guy succeed.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Yeah, you see it all because he wants you to
- 20:18Speaker 5: see all that stuff.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 20:20Speaker 5: Do it when no one's watching, Josh Allen.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Well, you're suggesting I did that with J.J. Watt for years.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I understand where you're coming from, but you're suggesting he
- 20:27Speaker 1: doesn't do it when nobody's watching.
- 20:30Speaker 5: I haven't seen it.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Why would you see it? It would defeat the purpose.
- 20:36Speaker 6: It's also a thing with Josh Allen. Like, if you
- 20:39Speaker 6: just lined up all 32 quarterbacks and you didn't know
- 20:43Speaker 6: they were NFL quarterbacks and you just said, who do
- 20:45Speaker 6: I want to hang out with the most?
- 20:47Speaker 2: I would sprint to him.
- 20:48Speaker 3: We've seen it in Tahoe.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Yes.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Like, Josh Allen is about as normal a dude as
- 20:52Speaker 3: you could get. And then it's like, oh, wait, this
- 20:53Speaker 3: guy's like an MVP caliber quarterback.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Yes.
- 20:56Speaker 3: In the best sport that America has to offer.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You'll realize just how cool Josh Allen is when you
- 21:01Speaker 1: go to Lake Tahoe and you have an interaction with
- 21:03Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and five seconds later you interact with Josh Allen.
- 21:07Speaker 3: And then you go back to Rodgers and you're like, man,
- 21:09Speaker 3: I'm still thinking about that Josh Allen interaction.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I miss the Bills quarterback.
- 21:15Speaker 3: My last game of the week for the Tears, an
- 21:18Speaker 3: official passing of the torch game.
- 21:22Speaker 6: Ooh.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Wow, wow, wow.
- 21:25Speaker 3: So I'll give you guys a hint. This is positionally,
- 21:28Speaker 3: like an individual position.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Oh, I got you.
- 21:30Speaker 3: We're passing the torch.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Passing of the torch. Wow. So say that again.
- 21:40Speaker 3: This is an official passing of the torch game.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:44Speaker 3: It's positionally. Think who has been the best at their
- 21:47Speaker 3: position maybe the past decade, and then who's coming for
- 21:52Speaker 3: that title now.
- 21:54Speaker 2: You have a guess here, Mike?
- 21:57Speaker 5: I don't.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I'm a little stumped.
- 22:00Speaker 5: Hold on. Give me a second.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Passing of the torch.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I'll give you guys a hint. Ricardo has already said it.
- 22:09Speaker 2: What?
- 22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, he got it almost immediately.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Ricky Mantle. Wow.
- 22:15Speaker 3: And he doesn't have a schedule in front of him,
- 22:17Speaker 3: which is even more impressive.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So a passing of the torch game. But within, it's odd. Mikey,
- 22:25Speaker 2: I'm with you. I'm confused. I don't understand who's passing
- 22:27Speaker 2: a torch. I mean.
- 22:29Speaker 3: You guys want the answer?
- 22:31Speaker 2: I mean.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Give me the position.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Running back.
- 22:36Speaker 2: So who's been the best? Derrick Henry.
- 22:38Speaker 4: You're telling me Derrick Henry is passing it? to vajon robinson.
- 22:41Speaker 3: It's an official it's an official passing of the torch
- 22:44Speaker 3: where derrick henry has run the nfl for a decade
- 22:47Speaker 3: every week we watch derrick henry it's like when is
- 22:49Speaker 3: this guy gonna slow down oh he just has three
- 22:52Speaker 3: touchdowns and 150 yards every game yes i i said
- 22:56Speaker 3: i think two years ago i was talking to 10
- 22:58Speaker 3: day tony and i was like after a week one
- 23:00Speaker 3: game that derrick henry had like 20 yards i was
- 23:02Speaker 3: like oh man derrick henry it's cooked And then, like,
- 23:05Speaker 3: the next, like, seven weeks in a row, he rushed for, like,
- 23:07Speaker 3: over 120 yards every game. And I was like, man,
- 23:09Speaker 3: this take is aging like milk left out. But I
- 23:14Speaker 3: think after Sunday Night Football, we put those conversations to bed.
- 23:18Speaker 3: It's Bijan Robinson's position until, you know, some generational running
- 23:22Speaker 3: back in 15 years matches up against Bijan. And then we, again,
- 23:26Speaker 3: pass the torch.
- 23:27Speaker 1: They're his tears, Mikey. I feel like that torch has
- 23:29Speaker 1: already been passed. I feel like everyone recognizes Bijan as
- 23:32Speaker 1: the best running.
- 23:33Speaker 3: This is an official. That was an unofficial. I understand
- 23:35Speaker 3: the confusion.
- 23:36Speaker 2: But when you say it, it's official. I got it.
- 23:38Speaker 5: Jameer Gibbs would like a word. Let's just get that.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Jameer Gibbs would like a word. And the other thing is...
- 23:44Speaker 4: Derek Henry is not passing that torch to anybody just yet.
- 23:48Speaker 4: He still believes, and he's still actually playing well enough
- 23:51Speaker 4: to say, it's still my torch. You're going to have
- 23:53Speaker 4: to come take it from me. I'm not passing it
- 23:55Speaker 4: to you. You're going to have to come take it.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And who would have the stones to go take a
- 23:59Speaker 1: torch from Derek Henry?
- 24:00Speaker 2: Nobody.
- 24:01Speaker 3: If there's anybody who's going to have the stones to
- 24:03Speaker 3: take that torch... It would be Bijan. I think it's
- 24:05Speaker 3: Bijan Robinson. He's going to have to take it from him.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I think by the fourth or fifth carry of the game,
- 24:11Speaker 3: he's going to... Score a touchdown, a big touchdown like
- 24:14Speaker 3: he did on Monday Night Football against New Orleans.
- 24:16Speaker 2: And run around with a torch.
- 24:17Speaker 3: He's not even going to break stride when he scores.
- 24:19Speaker 3: His celebration is going to be going to that Ravens
- 24:21Speaker 3: sideline and taking that torch from Derrick Henry.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Okay, because you have Derrick Henry having a torch on
- 24:26Speaker 2: the sideline.
- 24:26Speaker 3: On the sideline.
- 24:27Speaker 7: That would be.
- 24:28Speaker 3: So much better if sports actually had that.
- 24:29Speaker 2: That would be awesome. It would be great. So Bichon
- 24:31Speaker 2: walks around with a torch. Does he run with a torch?
- 24:34Speaker 2: Had the torch for the rest of the game?
- 24:36Speaker 3: If you guys remember, the last torch game that we
- 24:38Speaker 3: would have had was the World Cup final, Messi versus
- 24:41Speaker 3: Laminia Mall. When Laminia Mall in Spain beat Argentina, Laminia
- 24:45Speaker 3: Mall got the torch from Messi.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Right. Okay.
- 24:49Speaker 1: So you have Bijan scoring a touchdown, running to the Ravens' sideline,
- 24:52Speaker 1: grabbing Derrick Henry's torch, taking it to his sideline.
- 24:55Speaker 2: All right. That makes it official.
- 24:57Speaker 7: All right.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Before we get to the polls here, Atstugat790 on X.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Let's talk some baseball here. How are you guys feeling,
- 25:22Speaker 1: by the way, now that you had some time to
- 25:24Speaker 1: process the Yankees, them losing the entire season?
- 25:27Speaker 2: Same way? Same way, huh? Worse.
- 25:31Speaker 4: No, for me, I spent the time reflecting, and I
- 25:34Speaker 4: was like, you know what? Maybe I was a little emotional.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Maybe I came out a little too hard. Maybe I
- 25:40Speaker 4: was just in my feelings. And now that I've thought
- 25:45Speaker 4: about it, I was 100% right. They need to fire everybody.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad you took the time to self-reflect and
- 25:52Speaker 1: come back with the same result.
- 25:54Speaker 2: That is a good job by you. Stu, what a.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Crazy time it is that we're living in right now
- 25:59Speaker 3: where the Yankee season ends and New York sports fans
- 26:02Speaker 3: now turn to the Knicks and be like, here comes
- 26:04Speaker 3: our saving grace.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:06Speaker 3: The New York Knicks basketball, one of the best franchises
- 26:08Speaker 3: in the organization, in the association right now.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Yes, a market that's relied on baseball for so long,
- 26:14Speaker 1: and specifically Yankee baseball for so long, can now turn
- 26:18Speaker 1: its attention to the greatest thing in that city, which
- 26:21Speaker 1: is Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks.
- 26:23Speaker 2: We've never had that before.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Imagine telling somebody in 2005, during the prime of Derek
- 26:30Speaker 3: Jeter and A-Rod, hey, 20 years from now, The Yankees
- 26:33Speaker 3: are going to be the laughingstock of the MLB.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:36Speaker 3: And the Knicks that you're watching with Eddie Curry and
- 26:39Speaker 3: Jared Jeffries, that's going to be the pillar franchise in
- 26:43Speaker 3: the NBA.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Mikey, I have noticed it as a Jet fan, having
- 26:46Speaker 1: the Knicks, knowing I can go to the Knicks and
- 26:48Speaker 1: go there very soon.
- 26:49Speaker 3: It's a crutch.
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'm not as mad at the Jets as I normally am.
- 26:52Speaker 2: I have to be honest with you. Must be nice.
- 26:55Speaker 1: What did you guys make of White Sox Guardians last night?
- 27:01Speaker 1: They go back to Cleveland now for game five. I
- 27:03Speaker 1: wanted Chicago to win that at home. I want the
- 27:05Speaker 1: White Sox to win. I want it to be a
- 27:07Speaker 1: White Sox-Dodger World Series. The White Sox had two leads
- 27:11Speaker 1: in that game, probably should have won that game, and
- 27:13Speaker 1: now we're headed back, and the series just keeps starting.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Just keeps starting.
- 27:16Speaker 1: Because the road team is winning every single game, and
- 27:19Speaker 1: now they go back to Cleveland, the White Sox home
- 27:22Speaker 1: away from home, I guess, for a big game five here.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Home teams 0-4 in this series, and the biggest difference
- 27:28Speaker 3: the past two games that Cleveland's been able to get,
- 27:30Speaker 3: their offense has come to life. They're scoring... 18 runs
- 27:34Speaker 3: the past two games. Stu, I think the biggest turning
- 27:37Speaker 3: point for this Cleveland Guardians team, Jose Ramirez. When Jose
- 27:41Speaker 3: Ramirez is going, he is one of the most underrated
- 27:44Speaker 3: players in baseball this generation because... If I ask you
- 27:47Speaker 3: guys to name the best players from this past decade,
- 27:50Speaker 3: you're going to go to Aaron Judge, Shohei Otani, like
- 27:52Speaker 3: the Mike Trouts, the Mookie Betts, Juan Soto. Jose Ramirez
- 27:56Speaker 3: is like in that tier of player, but just because
- 27:58Speaker 3: the Guardians don't really have the same level of postseason success,
- 28:02Speaker 3: he doesn't get mentioned in those same conversations.
- 28:05Speaker 2: Mikey, you agree with that? He's a great player. There's
- 28:07Speaker 2: no doubt about it.
- 28:08Speaker 1: But playing in Cleveland doesn't help his cause. If he
- 28:11Speaker 1: played in New York, we would all recognize him as
- 28:13Speaker 1: a top 10 player.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Of course. And I also think that part of it
- 28:17Speaker 4: is if he doesn't go, they don't win.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:20Speaker 4: So it's, it's, it's solely reliant on him and you know,
- 28:24Speaker 4: they haven't won enough. I know they're in the ALDS,
- 28:27Speaker 4: but they haven't like, gotten a world series where you'd
- 28:29Speaker 4: be like oh yeah he got that signature moment.
- 28:32Speaker 1: He's a first ballot hall of famer right yes yes
- 28:35Speaker 1: yes yes easily.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Uh stew i i think it's interesting with this series
- 28:39Speaker 3: over the last two games you can make the argument
- 28:41Speaker 3: that the the white socks have lost and the guardians
- 28:43Speaker 3: haven't won because this stat from optistats over the last
- 28:46Speaker 3: two games the white sock hitters have struck out 31
- 28:49Speaker 3: times and white sock pitchers have issued 17 walks No
- 28:53Speaker 3: other MLB team in the modern era has had that
- 28:56Speaker 3: many strikeouts at the plate and that many walks on
- 28:59Speaker 3: the mound over a two-game span, regular season or postseason.
- 29:02Speaker 7: Wow.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Guardians' raise is not what Major League Baseball wanted.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Ever.
- 29:10Speaker 1: Not this year, not next year, not 20 years ago,
- 29:13Speaker 1: and not 30 years from now. They will never want
- 29:15Speaker 1: an ALCS that is Tampa and Cleveland for the right
- 29:18Speaker 1: to go to the World Series. The Dodgers better get there.
- 29:21Speaker 1: or they're in for the lowest rated World Series in
- 29:23Speaker 1: the history of Major League Baseball.
- 29:24Speaker 3: And to further that point, I think MLB, like the owners,
- 29:27Speaker 3: want the Dodgers to win because they need to strengthen
- 29:30Speaker 3: their argument when it comes to the labor talks and
- 29:34Speaker 3: the lockout. The players are crushing them right now. The
- 29:37Speaker 3: players are like, we can't have these small market teams win.
- 29:40Speaker 3: because the the more the dodgers win the more it's
- 29:44Speaker 3: going to force the public perception to be like we
- 29:45Speaker 3: need a salary cap to stop this the fact that
- 29:48Speaker 3: you look at the american league and it's all the
- 29:50Speaker 3: small market teams i know chicago is a big market
- 29:52Speaker 3: but chicago payroll wise operates as a pretty small team
- 29:56Speaker 3: like they've lost a hundred plus games and what like
- 29:58Speaker 3: three of the past five seasons. Chicago's been a loser
- 30:02Speaker 3: franchise for the past five years.
- 30:03Speaker 2: They've been awful, yes.
- 30:05Speaker 3: And it feels like this is going against the players
- 30:08Speaker 3: who are saying, we don't need a salary cap because
- 30:13Speaker 3: you need the Dodgers to win.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Well, no.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Well, help me out here because you have teams, small
- 30:19Speaker 1: market teams, guardians, Rays, Brewers, teams that won't go out
- 30:23Speaker 1: and trade for Scooble.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Doesn't that benefit the players' case? It doesn't matter. There's
- 30:28Speaker 2: no cap now.
- 30:30Speaker 1: So the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, they're spending all this money,
- 30:33Speaker 1: and only one of those teams has made it to
- 30:35Speaker 1: the Final Four.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Right?
- 30:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're arguing the same thing, saying that
- 30:41Speaker 3: the Dodgers winning means that we need a salary cap.
- 30:45Speaker 3: The other teams winning means we don't.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Well, I don't know.
- 30:49Speaker 1: So I understand what you're saying, but if three of
- 30:51Speaker 1: the four teams are Milwaukee-based The Rays and the Guardians.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Aren't the players winning right there?
- 30:59Speaker 3: The players are winning.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 31:00Speaker 3: The teams are losing.
- 31:01Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Yes.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:02Speaker 5: Right.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I just want to see Dodgers-White Sox just because it'd
- 31:05Speaker 1: be fun and funny. And it would get good ratings.
- 31:08Speaker 1: And I would like to see the team who was
- 31:10Speaker 1: the worst in Major League Baseball a year ago. It's
- 31:14Speaker 1: a crazy turnaround. Beat this juggernaut that is the Dodgers,
- 31:17Speaker 1: which would also help the players, by the way.
- 31:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a crazy turnaround. And on the topic of
- 31:21Speaker 3: the bargaining sessions for the MLB, this report came from
- 31:24Speaker 3: Jeff Passan, and this has something that I think you
- 31:27Speaker 3: guys would love.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:29Speaker 3: So Major League Baseball has proposed cutting the regular season
- 31:33Speaker 3: schedule from 162 games to 154 games. Oh, Jesus. That's
- 31:37Speaker 3: not what I think you guys would love. Less baseball.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Right.
- 31:39Speaker 3: But also, part of the proposal... Mm-hmm. Higher seeds in
- 31:43Speaker 3: playoffs get to choose their opponents.
- 31:46Speaker 2: That I like. In either league?
- 31:51Speaker 3: No, no. So still in the American League, you would assume.
- 31:54Speaker 3: But it would be like the New York Yankees are
- 31:56Speaker 3: the number one seed in the playoffs. And it's like,
- 31:58Speaker 3: who do the Yankees want to play? What a surprise.
- 32:00Speaker 3: The Minnesota Twins.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Every year. Not the Rays. Not the Rays.
- 32:04Speaker 5: Can the Yankees just win not to play the Rays?
- 32:06Speaker 2: So who is the one seed in each league this year?
- 32:09Speaker 3: The Tampa Bay Rays. I think the Tampa Bay Rays
- 32:10Speaker 3: still pick the Yankees.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Get out of here.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yes.
- 32:13Speaker 2: If they had their choice. Come on, Mikey.
- 32:15Speaker 3: The Tampa Bay Rays look at the Yankees and say,
- 32:17Speaker 3: we got this team in our back pocket right now.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Knowing that the Yankees have to come to Tropicana, that
- 32:21Speaker 3: house of horrors, they're picking the Yankees every time.
- 32:24Speaker 2: And then? Yeah. Not the Red Sox? I mean, who
- 32:27Speaker 2: were limping into the playoffs?
- 32:30Speaker 3: Well, they didn't make it to the Divisional Series.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Oh, that's right. Okay. So once we get to the
- 32:33Speaker 2: Divisional round. Okay, I got it. Not the White Sox?
- 32:36Speaker 3: No, I think it's the Yankees. What were you going
- 32:38Speaker 3: to say, Mike?
- 32:44Speaker 4: I said, and then just the mind game of the Rays,
- 32:46Speaker 4: not only being the better team, but going, we want you.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:50Speaker 5: Come on over. The Yankees would be like, oh, no.
- 32:55Speaker 3: The Yankees would cower. But I think there is another
- 32:59Speaker 3: element to that where it's almost a dangerous game. Like,
- 33:02Speaker 3: say if you're, let's use the Houston Astros in this example.
- 33:06Speaker 3: And the Houston Astros finished as a 500 baseball team.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:09Speaker 3: If the Tampa Bay Rays are like, Houston Astros, we
- 33:12Speaker 3: want to play you. That's almost giving the Houston Astros, like,
- 33:15Speaker 3: extra bulletin board material, even though they are the lesser team. Like,
- 33:19Speaker 3: a team thinks you're so bad that they want to
- 33:21Speaker 3: face you.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Oh, you want some of this?
- 33:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Well, I think the.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Yankees would cower the second they got picked by any team.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 33:27Speaker 3: I think a team like the Astros or any other
- 33:30Speaker 3: team in baseball would kind of use that as motivation.
- 33:32Speaker 2: What do you mean the Yanks would cower? Like, someone
- 33:34Speaker 2: would choose the Yanks and what would happen? I mean.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Aaron Boone would pee down his leg, probably.
- 33:38Speaker 2: And Judge would pull a hammy? Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Or an injury or something.
- 33:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Is this a televised event? It should be a televised event.
- 33:44Speaker 3: If it's not a televised event, we.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Don't want it. I'd be more interested in watching this
- 33:49Speaker 2: than watching baseball.
- 33:50Speaker 7: It's fair.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Is it?
- 33:54Speaker 3: I think it would draw better than the World Series.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Put it on the polls. That's a cool rule. I
- 34:01Speaker 2: like that.
- 34:01Speaker 1: I mean, baseball needs to start thinking differently, and they
- 34:04Speaker 1: have in years past, and it's helped with ratings, and
- 34:06Speaker 1: it's helped drive their product.
- 34:09Speaker 2: So they need to continue to think like that. The
- 34:12Speaker 2: way me and Billy Gilf, I think. I couldn't speak.
- 34:16Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's almost like MLB just needs, like, the wacky
- 34:19Speaker 3: guys in the league office. Like, you have a bunch
- 34:21Speaker 3: of suits.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Billy.
- 34:22Speaker 3: And then, yes, you just walk down the hallway and
- 34:24Speaker 3: it's like, oh, who's that in the ball pit in
- 34:26Speaker 3: their office? And it's like, oh, it's Billy Gill. Here
- 34:28Speaker 3: he comes to save baseball.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Yes, a man who once proposed to Rob Manfred on
- 34:31Speaker 1: air on ESPN Radio that we have ponds in the outfield.
- 34:34Speaker 2: That's a good idea.
- 34:35Speaker 3: There used to be a hill in Houston Astros.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Can you imagine, Mikey, running in the outfield and all
- 34:39Speaker 1: of a sudden you fall into a pond?
- 34:42Speaker 2: I mean....
- 34:44Speaker 5: Diving diving into the pond that's awesome i love.
- 34:46Speaker 3: It mikey i feel like with that houston astros field
- 34:49Speaker 3: it's almost like the mandela effect where some days i'm
- 34:51Speaker 3: just sitting and watching houston astros i'm like did i
- 34:54Speaker 3: just imagine that they used to have a hill in
- 34:56Speaker 3: their house no there.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Used to be a hill in center field yes they
- 34:58Speaker 4: used to i don't i don't remember if it was
- 35:01Speaker 4: the astros you're probably right no there was absolutely.
- 35:05Speaker 1: A hill no they took it away i think an
- 35:07Speaker 1: opposing player tripped i mean it's super dangerous yeah yeah
- 35:11Speaker 1: A hill in the outfield is like something that we
- 35:12Speaker 1: would have had in like 1940, not like 2000. I
- 35:15Speaker 1: love that we're not okay with that, but I fully
- 35:17Speaker 1: endorse Billy Gill putting ponds in the outfield.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I mean, it's just as crazy an idea.
- 35:22Speaker 5: Nobody gets hurt falling in a pond.
- 35:23Speaker 1: All right, let's get to the polls here to wrap
- 35:27Speaker 1: up the week here. It's been a great week, a
- 35:29Speaker 1: fun week. At Stugatz790 on X, give me the music, please.
- 35:35Speaker 3: We're starting off hot today.
- 35:36Speaker 2: All right.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Is Kirk Cousins a Hall of Famer? Stu Yachts made
- 35:40Speaker 3: the argument that he was. This was the most voted
- 35:42Speaker 3: on poll this week, I'm pretty sure.
- 35:44Speaker 2: It's going to be a resounding no, right?
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yes, 80% of the audience said no. Kirk Cousins, not
- 35:49Speaker 3: a Hall of Famer.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Look at the numbers, people.
- 35:55Speaker 3: The next take from that same game, I believe this
- 35:56Speaker 3: was Mikey's opinion. Was that a statement loss for the Raiders?
- 36:02Speaker 1: He said he was as impressed with the Raiders in
- 36:04Speaker 1: that loss as he has been with any win they've
- 36:06Speaker 1: had this year.
- 36:08Speaker 2: I don't disagree with it, by the way. What were
- 36:09Speaker 2: the results?
- 36:12Speaker 3: 80.7% of the audience said yes.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Statement loss.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Statement loss.
- 36:16Speaker 2: All right. Big win for you.
- 36:18Speaker 3: This is one that came back. Statement win. This one
- 36:20Speaker 3: came back to bite us. Is it un-American to bet
- 36:23Speaker 3: against the New Orleans Saints tonight in the Monday night
- 36:26Speaker 3: football game against the Falcons? I think the Saints lost
- 36:29Speaker 3: by what? 55?
- 36:30Speaker 5: Yes.
- 36:30Speaker 3: They got absolutely run off the field.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yes, and if you did it, you're not American.
- 36:35Speaker 3: But you're broke.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I took the Falcons.
- 36:41Speaker 3: 57.5% of the audience said yes. Another big one for Mikey.
- 36:46Speaker 3: Do you ever need a game in the NFC South?
- 36:50Speaker 2: I mean, the Bucs are back.
- 36:53Speaker 3: They're right in it.
- 36:53Speaker 7: They're right in it.
- 36:55Speaker 2: They are. One and four.
- 36:56Speaker 3: You're never out of it in the NFC South.
- 36:59Speaker 2: You might be if Atlanta gets hot. Or the Panthers.
- 37:03Speaker 2: Or the Panthers, yes.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Or the Saints. Or the Bucs.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Look at the NFC South growing up right in front.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Of our eyes. 74.2% of the audience said, no, you
- 37:14Speaker 3: never need a game in the NFC South, and Todd
- 37:16Speaker 3: Bowles proves that every year.
- 37:18Speaker 2: 35 and 37, I think. Yeah.
- 37:19Speaker 7: He stinks.
- 37:24Speaker 3: If Wake Forest was in the SEC, would Miami be
- 37:27Speaker 3: the number one team in the country right now?
- 37:32Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Paul Feinbaum would be parading around how good Gio Lopez
- 37:36Speaker 3: looks for the Demon Deacons.
- 37:37Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 37:38Speaker 7: The Deacs.
- 37:41Speaker 3: That team is tough. They're scrappy.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Mikey told me after I put a bet on it.
- 37:47Speaker 1: He told me to stop betting against the Deacs.
- 37:49Speaker 2: I did. I took the Deacs last week. We won.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Thank you, Mikey.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I wish you would have told me two weeks ago
- 37:56Speaker 1: before I put them in my Studio Gots picks, and
- 37:59Speaker 1: they lost.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Big game for the Deacs this week at NC State.
- 38:04Speaker 3: It's a noon kickoff.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Yes, at NC State. You hate that coach, NC State's coach.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Dave Dorn, yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 7: Yes.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Spoiler alert, taking the Deacs. Wow. Listen to Mikey.
- 38:16Speaker 3: This is a big one for Trey Wingo. Should we
- 38:20Speaker 3: call the Detroit Lions the E-Troit Lions because they have
- 38:23Speaker 3: no D?
- 38:23Speaker 2: He was so proud of himself. And I loved it.
- 38:29Speaker 3: My favorite moment from Trey Wingo was when he was
- 38:31Speaker 3: looking for that stat for like three minutes. And I
- 38:34Speaker 3: had it on my computer the entire time.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Because you just wanted to hear him fumble around?
- 38:40Speaker 3: No, I was saying in the background, like you hear
- 38:41Speaker 3: me in the background going like, Trey, I have the stat.
- 38:43Speaker 3: And he goes, it's right here. Hold on a second.
- 38:46Speaker 3: I have the stat, Trey.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Just this.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Just watching a man drown like it's a pond in
- 38:50Speaker 4: center field.
- 38:51Speaker 2: I don't think Trey minds.
- 38:54Speaker 3: No, he's a pro.
- 38:55Speaker 2: He really is.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a pro's pro.
- 38:56Speaker 2: He does have to talk through it.
- 38:57Speaker 3: 90.9% of the audience said yes. Let's rename them the
- 39:01Speaker 3: E-Troit Lions.
- 39:02Speaker 2: All right, good. Wow, overwhelming.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Cooper Rush can never play another snap again in the NFL.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Yes, 100%.
- 39:08Speaker 3: Surprisingly not higher.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Really?
- 39:09Speaker 3: 79.4% of the audience said yes. said yes, that he
- 39:14Speaker 3: should never play another snap.
- 39:15Speaker 2: So 21% of the audience is okay if he takes
- 39:17Speaker 2: a snap for their team?
- 39:18Speaker 3: Yeah, you cannot be okay. If right now you got
- 39:22Speaker 3: a notification, the Jets signed Cooper Rush or the Jets
- 39:25Speaker 3: trade for Cooper Rush, your guys' hearts would drop.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I mean.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Unless you were trying to go... the opposite way. Maybe
- 39:30Speaker 3: that's the argument for why you would start Cooper Rush.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Right, to lose.
- 39:33Speaker 3: To lose, yes. This is a big one for me.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Alright.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Does an 8 to 10 a.m. repair window really just
- 39:44Speaker 3: mean 9.58 a.m.? 100%. That's what it means.
- 39:46Speaker 6: Yes.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Frickin' Salvador from AT & T. I love Salvador in
- 39:53Speaker 3: AT & T, but, man.
- 39:54Speaker 2: We love AT & T.
- 39:55Speaker 3: He threw a wrench into my week.
- 39:57Speaker 2: We love Salvador.
- 40:00Speaker 3: 90.4% of the audience said yes. That's what the 8
- 40:02Speaker 3: to 10 a.m. repair window means.
- 40:05Speaker 2: He threw a wrench into your week. Go ahead.
- 40:10Speaker 3: If a baseball could hit off a catwalk, what the
- 40:13Speaker 3: hell are we even doing?
- 40:14Speaker 2: Man, one of these has to come back 100%. You know?
- 40:19Speaker 3: We're getting closer. 90.7% of the audience said yes. Are
- 40:25Speaker 3: Yankee fans rooting for a lockout?
- 40:32Speaker 2: I am. You voted yes?
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I voted yes.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Mikey, you voted yes?
- 40:35Speaker 3: Three times on three different accounts. Really?
- 40:37Speaker 2: Wow.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, all my burner accounts I voted yes.
- 40:40Speaker 2: You're really committed to this lockout, huh?
- 40:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Adnan was upset that I said I was rooting for
- 40:44Speaker 3: the lockout. He texted me. He said, hey, love your passion.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 40:48Speaker 3: But I need to keep collecting checks, so I'm going
- 40:51Speaker 3: to root against the lockout. And I said, that's a
- 40:53Speaker 3: fair point, Adnan.
- 40:55Speaker 2: He texted me that he loved Old Schmidt. Instead of
- 41:00Speaker 2: Paul Goldschmidt. Anyway, go ahead.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Has Yankee Stadium become the place for other teams to celebrate?
- 41:06Speaker 2: It sure has.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Stu, you mentioned 100%. This is the closest, actually, we've gotten. 96.1%
- 41:13Speaker 3: of the audience said that's where you go if you
- 41:15Speaker 3: want to throw a party if you're another.
- 41:16Speaker 7: Team right now.
- 41:19Speaker 2: The Rays would choose them and give them home field.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Two more poll questions. Is Jalen Daniels winning the chip
- 41:29Speaker 3: on Baker Mayfield's shoulder that he's been missing since signing
- 41:32Speaker 3: his contract extension?
- 41:35Speaker 2: Yes.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I think I almost had a stroke when I was
- 41:37Speaker 3: reading that, if you guys noticed.
- 41:39Speaker 2: I almost had one about 12 minutes ago, if you
- 41:41Speaker 2: guys remember.
- 41:43Speaker 3: All of a sudden, my vision got very, very fuzzy
- 41:45Speaker 3: there for a second that I got a little worried.
- 41:47Speaker 2: It happens.
- 41:49Speaker 3: 89.7% of the audience said, yes, Baker Mayfield, the chip
- 41:52Speaker 3: is back on his shoulder.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 41:55Speaker 2: It's Jalen Daniels on his shoulder.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:56Speaker 2: Small.
- 41:57Speaker 3: It's confusing. Jalen Daniels, Jaden Daniels. We need to do
- 42:00Speaker 3: something there. I don't know what.
- 42:02Speaker 2: It's Jaden and Jalen.
- 42:04Speaker 5: Baker comes back and then you never hear from Jalen again.
- 42:07Speaker 7: Yes.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Well, that's not true. Jets next year, three years, 120 million.
- 42:10Speaker 6: Yes.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Last poll of the week. Cowboys defensive coordinator. Pack your bags.
- 42:19Speaker 7: Yes.
- 42:20Speaker 2: And shoddy perhaps. I mean.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Shoddy's got one foot out the door. 94.9% of the
- 42:26Speaker 3: audience said defensive coordinator, bags are packed. Stu, those are
- 42:30Speaker 3: the polls.
- 42:30Speaker 6: All right.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I'll put this on the poll for next week. Does
- 42:33Speaker 2: Shoddy have one foot out the door?
