- 1:44Speaker 2: or the Bengals YouTube channel. Now time for the radio
- 1:48Speaker 2: replays from Monday Night's game in Jacksonville. Tonight, the Cincinnati Bengals,
- 1:54Speaker 2: playing without Joe Burrow, are double digit underdogs here in
- 1:59Speaker 2: Jacksonville floor. The last time the Bengals were this big
- 2:02Speaker 2: of an underdog on Monday Night football was December twenty first,
- 2:06Speaker 2: twenty twenty. They were also missing Joe Burrow that night,
- 2:11Speaker 2: and Ryan Finley led Cincinnati to a stunning win over
- 2:15Speaker 2: the eleven and two Pittsburgh Steelers. Can the Bengals do
- 2:19Speaker 2: it again with Jake Browning at quarterback? We are about
- 2:23Speaker 2: to find out, and it is time for the big skin.
- 2:27Speaker 1: To fly here at EverBank Stadium.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Lawrence in the gun runs an option to the right,
- 2:32Speaker 2: pitches to Etn and he goes into the end.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Zone with ease.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Jacksonville scores a touchdown on its opening drive. Chase goes
- 2:40Speaker 2: in orbit motion behind the QB. They give it to Mixon,
- 2:43Speaker 2: lowers the shoulder pads and with second effort he's into
- 2:47Speaker 2: the end zone.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Touchdown Bengals.
- 2:51Speaker 2: As Jamar Chase went behind the quarterback Browning, drawing a
- 2:55Speaker 2: little bit of attention in that direction.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Mixon ran left, took it into the end zone.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Lawrence against the blitz, throws it quickly, caught by the tight.
- 3:04Speaker 1: End Ingram gets a downfield block.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Streaking toward the pylon, he launches himself into the end
- 3:11Speaker 2: zone for a Jacksonville touchdown.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Shotgun snapped to Browning.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Gets it to Mix and again he goes into the
- 3:17Speaker 2: end zone, standing up for his second touchdown here in
- 3:22Speaker 2: the first half, Mix and takes a knee and poses
- 3:26Speaker 2: for the photographers in the back of the end zone.
- 3:28Speaker 2: As the Bengals have pulled within a pad. I'm tying
- 3:32Speaker 2: the score. Three receivers right, one out to the left.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Five man rush Browning throws it deep downfield for.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Chase over the shoulder catch.
- 3:40Speaker 2: He's off three races at the twenty, the ten, and
- 3:43Speaker 2: he will back his way into the end zone for
- 3:47Speaker 2: the Bengals touchdown. Baby Washington motions left to right, Lawrence
- 3:52Speaker 2: back to throw, looking left, throws it into the end
- 3:54Speaker 2: zone and it is deflected and cars Jermaine Pratt. He
- 4:00Speaker 2: had both hands on the ball. He dropped a potential interception.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It was hauled in by Jacksonville. On first and ten,
- 4:09Speaker 2: he throws it backward to Boyd. Boyd wants to throw downfield.
- 4:13Speaker 2: He's past intercepted by Josh Allen. Then he gets tackled
- 4:17Speaker 2: at the Cincinnati nine yard line.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Wow, and they're going forward on fourth again.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Lookout for the Trevor Lawrence jump up and stick the
- 4:26Speaker 2: ball over the pile. Move did it last week against Houston.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Fourth and goal from the one, Lawrence under center. He
- 4:34Speaker 2: takes the snap, he sticks the ball out with his
- 4:36Speaker 2: right arm and it's a touchdown. Chase brown in at
- 4:40Speaker 2: running back Jake Browning under center on first and ten.
- 4:43Speaker 2: He gives it to the rookie from Illinois off to
- 4:45Speaker 2: the races to the forty, gets a downfield block from Higgins,
- 4:49Speaker 2: runs into Jaguars territory and finally gets shoved out of
- 4:53Speaker 2: bounds at the Jacksonville forty three by Tyson Campbell. Browning
- 4:58Speaker 2: is going to be under center double tight ends in
- 5:01Speaker 2: the game. Mixing is the running back. Chase goes in
- 5:04Speaker 2: motion behind Mixing quarterback sneak Browning surging forward and they
- 5:10Speaker 2: are not going to give it to him.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I didn't think yet, at least I didn't think he
- 5:14Speaker 1: got the exchange real cleanly.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The touchdown a very late call, and Jake Browning got
- 5:20Speaker 2: the ball over the goal line for the touchdown. Lawrence
- 5:23Speaker 2: pump fakes and gets sacked by Trey Hendrickson. The ball
- 5:28Speaker 2: out Yeah, it is actually about two yards ahead, and
- 5:32Speaker 2: it looks like Jacksonville recovers, but that will force a
- 5:35Speaker 2: field goal try.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And Trevor Lawrence is down hurt. Yeah, and he's.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Slamming his right hand into the ground and oh helmet
- 5:42Speaker 2: throws his helmet about ten yards up the field. Trey
- 5:45Speaker 2: Hendrickson takes his helmet off and it looks like Trevor
- 5:49Speaker 2: Lawrence has suffered a significant injury. The crowd trying to
- 5:52Speaker 2: be the twelfth man thick Pierson is set. The snap,
- 5:56Speaker 2: the placement, the swing of the right leg. It has
- 5:59Speaker 2: the distance. It is good. Evan McPherson from fifty four
- 6:06Speaker 2: yards away. Thirty one twenty eight Cincinnati leading Jacksonville, trying
- 6:11Speaker 2: to tie it with thirty seconds left in regulation. The
- 6:14Speaker 2: punter Logan Cook is the holder. Here comes the right
- 6:17Speaker 2: footed kick. It is good and we are tied. With
- 6:22Speaker 2: twenty six seconds left in regulation. Browning catches the shotgun, snap,
- 6:27Speaker 2: fakes to mix and looking.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Throws shuggled and caught.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yes, Chase Yeah, with the catch at the forty seven
- 6:36Speaker 2: for a first down. A juggling routine by Jamar and
- 6:41Speaker 2: he came to the ground with a football for a
- 6:43Speaker 2: first down. The play clock is at three two. They
- 6:46Speaker 2: snap it to Browning. He's back to throw. He fires
- 6:49Speaker 2: toward the side high caught Tee Higgins how of bounds
- 6:53Speaker 2: with a first down and a gain of eleven to
- 6:56Speaker 2: the forty two of Jacksonville. This will be a four
- 7:00Speaker 2: eight yard try to send Cincinnati home with an overtime
- 7:04Speaker 2: victory as a double digit underdog. Brad Robbins ready to hold,
- 7:09Speaker 2: cal Adamitas ready to snap. Adamitas fires it back. Robins
- 7:14Speaker 2: puts it down. The kick is on its way. It
- 7:17Speaker 2: is good. There's a penalty flag down.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Oh no, unsportsmanlike conduct on the defense, leaping penalties, decline
- 7:29Speaker 3: field goals good.
- 7:31Speaker 2: A forty eight yard field goal by Evan McPherson has
- 7:34Speaker 2: given Cincinnati a thirty four to thirty one overtime win.
- 7:38Speaker 2: The Bengals are still alive in the playoff chase. They're
- 7:42Speaker 2: back to five hundred and six and six, and today,
- 7:46Speaker 2: December fourth, twenty twenty three will forever be known as
- 7:53Speaker 2: the Jake Browning Game.
- 7:54Speaker 3: No doubt, I mean Jake Browning. He did himself a
- 7:58Speaker 3: lot of good. Nationally advised, he puts on a performance
- 8:02Speaker 3: like that. Jake Browning just bought himself a bunch of
- 8:06Speaker 3: years in the National Football League. Jake Browning did himself
- 8:10Speaker 3: a lot of good tonight.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Here are the final numbers for Jake Browning.
- 8:14Speaker 2: He completed thirty two of thirty seven passes, that's eighty
- 8:19Speaker 2: six percent for three hundred and fifty four yards, one touchdown,
- 8:23Speaker 2: no picks, had a passer rating of one point fifteen
- 8:26Speaker 2: point five. Jake also ran for twenty two yards had
- 8:30Speaker 2: a touchdown. It was a night he'll never forget and
- 8:33Speaker 2: Dave Lapham spoke to him in front of his locker.
- 8:38Speaker 3: You were an equal opportunity distributor of the football. I
- 8:41Speaker 3: mean you got like nine receivers involved in the action.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Is that part of your ball game?
- 8:46Speaker 3: I mean you look to distribute the ball everywhere you
- 8:49Speaker 3: possibly can.
- 8:51Speaker 6: I mean, I'm just trying to throw to whoever's open.
- 8:53Speaker 6: So I think that's more credit to nine different guys
- 8:55Speaker 6: getting open on different plays. So you know, I've definitely
- 8:59Speaker 6: thrown to the whole chart throughout the years on Pea squad.
- 9:02Speaker 6: So you know, whenever someone gets thrown in there, I
- 9:04Speaker 6: probably got bank reps with them.
- 9:07Speaker 3: So as a football team, rushed for over one hundred
- 9:09Speaker 3: and fifty yards's that's that's pretty strong as well. Joe
- 9:14Speaker 3: Mixon had sixty eight yards on nineteen carries. Brown had
- 9:18Speaker 3: sixty one yards on nine carries, So one hundred and
- 9:21Speaker 3: twenty nine yards on twenty eight carries out of the
- 9:23Speaker 3: tailback position. That's pretty damn good.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Yeah, that's awesome.
- 9:26Speaker 6: I think that's that's huge for our offense to be
- 9:28Speaker 6: able to do that, and so makes it and played really,
- 9:31Speaker 6: you know, ran really hard like he always does. Chase
- 9:34Speaker 6: came in and provide a little bit of a spark
- 9:36Speaker 6: with some big explosive runs, and I aligned.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It a great job.
- 9:38Speaker 7: Tight Ends did a great job.
- 9:39Speaker 6: So anytime you run the ball like that, it's gonna
- 9:42Speaker 6: be a good day.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Jamar Chase eleven cats is one hundred and forty nine yards.
- 9:46Speaker 3: That dude has the strongest hands I think I've ever
- 9:48Speaker 3: seen in the like vice groups. Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's dangerous with the ball, which is always
- 9:52Speaker 6: nice too.
- 9:53Speaker 3: So did they do anything different defensively than you had anticipated?
- 9:57Speaker 3: Did they blitz at a higher level or percentage? Did
- 10:00Speaker 3: you have any get Did they give you any looks
- 10:02Speaker 3: on their third down packages that you weren't expecting? You
- 10:05Speaker 3: pretty much guys right on everything.
- 10:08Speaker 6: I mean, I think they're always going to give you
- 10:09Speaker 6: looks that you're not prepared for. It's I mean, they
- 10:12Speaker 6: spend a whole week practicing and game planning two and
- 10:15Speaker 6: I really think the big difference is it kind of
- 10:17Speaker 6: all goes back to run game, and so you know,
- 10:20Speaker 6: I think going into the game, we thought they would
- 10:22Speaker 6: do something. Then we started running the ball really well.
- 10:24Speaker 6: And if you're on defense and we are gashing in
- 10:26Speaker 6: the run game, then you got to bring more people
- 10:28Speaker 6: into the box, and so I think that's really where
- 10:30Speaker 6: we're able to kind of get a rolling.
- 10:32Speaker 3: It was impressive. They scored fourteen points in a little
- 10:35Speaker 3: over two minute period. They're like two minutes and twenty
- 10:37Speaker 3: seconds where it was like, man, I mean, a lesser
- 10:42Speaker 3: team may have just folded on that. You guys showed
- 10:44Speaker 3: the resiliency and came storming back and win the game
- 10:47Speaker 3: ultimately in overtime. What's to say about the character of
- 10:49Speaker 3: this football team.
- 10:51Speaker 6: I mean, I think it may seem surprising outside of
- 10:53Speaker 6: the locker room, but for me, I've been in this
- 10:55Speaker 6: locker room for going on three years now, and it's
- 10:58Speaker 6: not surprising. I think, you know, we had a tough
- 11:01Speaker 6: little stretch there and just responded well and made the
- 11:04Speaker 6: plays that we needed to and just kept battling. And
- 11:07Speaker 6: I think that's kind of the standard around here. I
- 11:10Speaker 6: don't even think anybody really flinches about that kind of stuff.
- 11:13Speaker 3: So I know, you guys are all like one big fraternity.
- 11:17Speaker 3: At the quarterback position. Trevor Lawrence, who looked like it
- 11:20Speaker 3: was a tough situation. Your heart goes out to him,
- 11:22Speaker 3: doesn't it.
- 11:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's terrible he's been playing really well
- 11:26Speaker 6: obviously Jacksonville. You know, it has been a really good
- 11:30Speaker 6: team all season. I didn't really see what happened, but
- 11:32Speaker 6: anytime somebody goes down and you know, you feel for him.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Jake Browning, it was a heck of a show tonight,
- 11:39Speaker 3: man thirty four points, thirty four to thirty one in
- 11:42Speaker 3: a shootout down in Jacksonville. Playoffs still alive. We're not dead,
- 11:47Speaker 3: not dead by any stretch. Appreciate it.
- 11:50Speaker 2: The playoffs are still a long shot, but far from impossible.
- 11:54Speaker 2: If the Bengals win home games against the Colts, Vikings,
- 11:58Speaker 2: and Browns, who are all all missing their starting quarterbacks,
- 12:02Speaker 2: that would get them to nine wins. Then if they
- 12:05Speaker 2: beat either Pittsburgh or Kansas City on the road to
- 12:09Speaker 2: get to ten wins, they would have an eighty seven
- 12:13Speaker 2: percent chance of getting in. According to the New York
- 12:16Speaker 2: Times Playoff Machine, that game in Pittsburgh is three weeks away,
- 12:21Speaker 2: and Kenny Pickett suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday.
- 12:25Speaker 2: It's very possible he will not be back in time.
- 12:29Speaker 2: If the Bengals play like they did in Jacksonville, a
- 12:32Speaker 2: four to one finish is possible. I spoke to Jonah
- 12:35Speaker 2: Williams about the significance of Monday's win and the performance
- 12:40Speaker 2: of his former high school teammate Jake Browning.
- 12:45Speaker 5: It feels great and it's I think it shows like
- 12:48Speaker 5: the belief that we have in this locker room. And
- 12:51Speaker 5: you know, after last week's game, I know a lot
- 12:52Speaker 5: of people were feeling down. A lot of people are
- 12:54Speaker 5: doubting us, and you know, I was saying, I think
- 12:57Speaker 5: everyone was saying, we still have a lot of faith.
- 12:59Speaker 5: We save a lot of leaving the guys in the room,
- 13:01Speaker 5: and we went out and beat a really really good
- 13:03Speaker 5: Jacksonville team on the road Monday night, and you know,
- 13:07Speaker 5: in a in a in a really big game. So
- 13:11Speaker 5: it was great for us.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Jonah, I'm calling this the Jake Browning Game. Thirty two
- 13:15Speaker 2: for thirty seven, three hundred and fifty four yards, a
- 13:18Speaker 2: touchdown pass and a touchdown run.
- 13:20Speaker 1: You've known him.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Since you guys were kids. How excited are you for
- 13:23Speaker 2: him tonight?
- 13:24Speaker 5: So excited?
- 13:25Speaker 8: Man.
- 13:25Speaker 5: I know he's got it in him and it was
- 13:27Speaker 5: just awesome to see him go out there.
- 13:29Speaker 3: He's in his element. He's comfortable.
- 13:31Speaker 5: And I said it when he was first gonna start
- 13:33Speaker 5: I'm like, the lights aren't going to be too big
- 13:35Speaker 5: for him, the moment's not going to be too big
- 13:37Speaker 5: for him.
- 13:37Speaker 3: He's just gonna go out and play football.
- 13:39Speaker 5: And that's what he did, and he did enough for
- 13:41Speaker 5: us to win, and you know, made some huge plays
- 13:43Speaker 5: down the stretch, So it was it was awesome seeing
- 13:46Speaker 5: him do that again.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I thought the offensive line play tonight was tremendous. Jake
- 13:50Speaker 2: was protected well obviously to go thirty two for thirty seven,
- 13:54Speaker 2: but you also ran for one fifty six and obviously
- 13:58Speaker 2: that was a big problem last week that you guys fixed.
- 14:00Speaker 5: Yeah. Absolutely, I think that you know, we did a
- 14:03Speaker 5: great job in the run game and that opened up
- 14:05Speaker 5: a lot of stuff in the past game. You know,
- 14:07Speaker 5: all of our backs were running hard, and you know
- 14:09Speaker 5: we're able to build off of that. And when you're
- 14:12Speaker 5: not behind the sticks, when you're getting positive yards on
- 14:14Speaker 5: run plays, it takes a lot of pressure off everyone.
- 14:17Speaker 5: And you know, we were able to do that today
- 14:19Speaker 5: and we need to keep doing that for the rest
- 14:20Speaker 5: of the year.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Joe Mixon had more than one hundred yards combined rushing
- 14:23Speaker 2: and receiving. But you guys also got a jolt from
- 14:26Speaker 2: Chase Brown and his sort of first significant action as
- 14:29Speaker 2: a rookie.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean Chase. He's one of the shiftiest guys
- 14:32Speaker 5: I've ever seen on the field, and you saw a
- 14:34Speaker 5: lot of that from him today, just making a cut
- 14:35Speaker 5: and his acceleration is great. So it was cool to
- 14:39Speaker 5: see that out of him, and I know there's gonna
- 14:40Speaker 5: be a lot more coming from him.
- 14:42Speaker 2: That was a fun game. Congratulations on the win, Thank
- 14:45Speaker 2: you well. Joe Burrow won't return this year. The Bengals
- 14:48Speaker 2: did have t Higgins back on the field after he
- 14:51Speaker 2: missed three games with a hamstring injury. T had modest
- 14:54Speaker 2: stats three catches for thirty six yards, but his presence
- 14:59Speaker 2: makes it harder for teams to do everything under the
- 15:02Speaker 2: sun to stop Jamar. Chase and Jamar had eleven catches
- 15:07Speaker 2: for one hundred and forty nine yards. Here's my conversation
- 15:11Speaker 2: with Higgins. Tee, I'm sure you had a lot of
- 15:15Speaker 2: confidence in Jake, but thirty two for thirty seven for
- 15:19Speaker 2: three point fifty plus and a touchdown passing a touchdown run.
- 15:22Speaker 4: What do you think of his performance?
- 15:23Speaker 9: Ye, boy had a hell of a game.
- 15:25Speaker 3: I can say that.
- 15:27Speaker 9: Y'all asked about his confidence all week and y'all just
- 15:29Speaker 9: seen it there, you know what I'm saying, So you
- 15:31Speaker 9: can ask nothing better than that.
- 15:33Speaker 2: He completed his first ten passes early on. Did you think, man,
- 15:37Speaker 2: this guy's on a roll?
- 15:39Speaker 10: Honestly?
- 15:39Speaker 9: You know, you and game, well, you ain't really thinking
- 15:41Speaker 9: of it like that. You just just having your team
- 15:43Speaker 9: and it's catching the ball. He making good, putting good,
- 15:46Speaker 9: got good ball placement, and man, we was just you know,
- 15:50Speaker 9: he was helping us and we was helping him.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Where'd you get the sense that he was really just
- 15:54Speaker 2: cooking a night?
- 15:55Speaker 3: Really?
- 15:56Speaker 9: When he came out second half through that deep ball
- 15:58Speaker 9: to Chase, I was like, oh yeah, he feeling good.
- 16:02Speaker 10: You know what I'm saying.
- 16:03Speaker 9: It was a perfect ball and you know Chase was
- 16:06Speaker 9: able to make a play. And after that, you know
- 16:09Speaker 9: what I'm saying, he was just rolling.
- 16:10Speaker 2: You didn't have a ton of catches tonight, but the
- 16:12Speaker 2: ones that you had were big. What did it mean
- 16:14Speaker 2: to you to be back and contribute to an excited win?
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yeah? Man?
- 16:18Speaker 9: Like I said earlier this week, man, you know all
- 16:19Speaker 9: I want to do is just help this team get
- 16:21Speaker 9: a W. And you know I was able to do
- 16:22Speaker 9: that today. You know it felt good, you know, just
- 16:24Speaker 9: to be back out there with the guys, you know,
- 16:26Speaker 9: competing it and just you know, it felt good to
- 16:29Speaker 9: you know, get that last catch right there to you know,
- 16:31Speaker 9: get us that first down, put us in field goal range.
- 16:33Speaker 9: And then man, you know, Mix finished it off.
- 16:36Speaker 2: So eleven for Jamar. I overheard you say to Tyler, Man,
- 16:40Speaker 2: it didn't even seem like he had that much.
- 16:41Speaker 9: Yeah, it definitely didn't. Didn't realize it until you said
- 16:44Speaker 9: something after the game.
- 16:45Speaker 10: I was like, man, for real?
- 16:46Speaker 9: Uh Then like you said, man that the seventy six
- 16:49Speaker 9: yard had definitely helped.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Uh.
- 16:50Speaker 9: I didn't even you know, realize that. But man, you
- 16:53Speaker 9: had the hell of the game, you know, proud of
- 16:55Speaker 9: hitting a thousand yard mark, you know, for three seasons
- 16:56Speaker 9: in a row. You know, he's an elite receiver and
- 17:01Speaker 9: you know he's gonna continue to be great.
- 17:02Speaker 2: That many people thought the Bengals were going to win tonight,
- 17:05Speaker 2: cam here beating eight and three team at home.
- 17:07Speaker 4: How'd you do it? What's it mean?
- 17:09Speaker 9: We used to it, you know, we used to everybody
- 17:11Speaker 9: saying we're gonna We're not gonna pull it off. But man,
- 17:14Speaker 9: we just fought hard.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Man.
- 17:15Speaker 9: You know, the run game was real big tonight. Mix
- 17:17Speaker 9: ran the ball hard, you know, shouts out to him
- 17:19Speaker 9: in the old line. Man, It's just you know, they
- 17:21Speaker 9: they bought their bus office tonight, and I can't I
- 17:25Speaker 9: can't discredit you know, the receiver. It was out there
- 17:27Speaker 9: blocking on the perimeter as well. So he was just
- 17:29Speaker 9: all put it together. And you know when we all do,
- 17:31Speaker 9: when we do that and we compliment each other, man,
- 17:34Speaker 9: it's hard to beat us.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Joe had more than one hundred combined rushing receiving yards,
- 17:37Speaker 2: but Chase Brown gave you a lyft too with his burst.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:40Speaker 9: Man, the first long run he had, I kinda was
- 17:44Speaker 9: looking back, you know, you know, kind of missed the
- 17:47Speaker 9: block in the corner, made the play. I was like,
- 17:49Speaker 9: my bad man, I got you next time, and he
- 17:51Speaker 9: had another one, and you know I was blocking the
- 17:53Speaker 9: corner all the way down the field, you know. So
- 17:54Speaker 9: it's like I told you, I got you. But man,
- 17:57Speaker 9: proud of him, you know, stepped up with big moments
- 17:59Speaker 9: and makes place.
- 18:01Speaker 4: Congrats on the windy.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Now, let's hear from head coach Zach Taylor, who spent
- 18:06Speaker 2: four minutes with Lap after the game.
- 18:09Speaker 7: I'm just really proud of the all round effort. This team.
- 18:12Speaker 11: Guys stepped up, made plays when he needed it, and
- 18:14Speaker 11: it feels good to get a win on Monday Night
- 18:15Speaker 11: football on the road against a really good opponent.
- 18:19Speaker 7: Just really proud of this team.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Man.
- 18:21Speaker 3: How about Jake Browning thirty two for thirty seven, three
- 18:25Speaker 3: hundred and fifty four yards. He had a twenty yard rush,
- 18:28Speaker 3: so he rushed well over twenty yards. I mean he operated,
- 18:32Speaker 3: ploys precision. I mean it was unbelievable to watch him.
- 18:35Speaker 11: He prepares, he puts in the work that he knows
- 18:38Speaker 11: he's got to put in to be prepared, and so
- 18:39Speaker 11: his confidence stems off of that.
- 18:41Speaker 7: What else can he do? You know, he's prepared for
- 18:42Speaker 7: every moment.
- 18:43Speaker 11: He knows what he's going to see, knows where guys
- 18:45Speaker 11: are going to be at, and he went out there
- 18:46Speaker 11: and executed it like.
- 18:47Speaker 7: We knew he could. And I think he's just a
- 18:49Speaker 7: really good moment for.
- 18:50Speaker 11: Him in the second NFL start up Monday night football
- 18:52Speaker 11: to go do that against a really good team.
- 18:55Speaker 7: Really proud of Jake.
- 18:56Speaker 3: You had a great game plan though, I mean you
- 18:57Speaker 3: got him out of pocket, he booted, was on the
- 19:00Speaker 3: run so well, used the screen, game, used everything I mean,
- 19:06Speaker 3: what didn't you run for over one hundred and fifty yards?
- 19:09Speaker 3: I mean, it was. It was spectacular to watch. I mean,
- 19:12Speaker 3: put thirty four points on the board. Pretty good.
- 19:15Speaker 7: The trick plays didn't work so well, that's about.
- 19:17Speaker 4: That's about all it didn't.
- 19:18Speaker 7: You're right, I think we were over to on our
- 19:20Speaker 7: trick plays.
- 19:20Speaker 11: But you know, sometimes a game like this, you just
- 19:22Speaker 11: got to be aggressive and can't be afraid of what
- 19:24Speaker 11: the results going to be. It could be a negative result,
- 19:26Speaker 11: and it was, and our guys were able to overcome it.
- 19:29Speaker 11: And and so again it was. It was a really
- 19:30Speaker 11: good effort.
- 19:31Speaker 7: I thought the offensive line played really well tonight. They
- 19:33Speaker 7: protected him.
- 19:34Speaker 11: One of those sacks comes on a hot we can't
- 19:36Speaker 11: block him, you know, and we just gotta be able
- 19:38Speaker 11: to see that and get the ball out. But I
- 19:39Speaker 11: thought they did a great job open up some holes
- 19:41Speaker 11: for the running backs. DoD a great job protecting Jake
- 19:43Speaker 11: in the past game.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the running game. I mean, how about
- 19:48Speaker 3: how about the contribution from Brown sixty one yards on
- 19:52Speaker 3: nine carries. He showed the explosiveness that you knew he had.
- 19:54Speaker 3: I mean he Joe Mixon sixty eight yards rushing forty
- 19:59Speaker 3: nine yards received. I mean, it was it was fun
- 20:03Speaker 3: to watch this offense perform tonight.
- 20:05Speaker 11: It was you know, when you're talking about the running backs,
- 20:06Speaker 11: I thought those guys really stepped up mixing. Had some
- 20:08Speaker 11: tough runs on the goal line that got us in
- 20:10Speaker 11: the end zone, tough third down run that got us
- 20:13Speaker 11: a third down there at the end of the game.
- 20:15Speaker 7: Chase gave us a nice spark.
- 20:16Speaker 11: You know, it's good to get another running back in
- 20:18Speaker 11: there and mix it up and different elements.
- 20:19Speaker 7: So really proudly, Justin Hill does a.
- 20:21Speaker 11: Great job with those guys, and I thought they executed
- 20:23Speaker 11: all to night.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Your offense. Uh though, your your game plan. I know
- 20:28Speaker 3: you're being you're being humble, but you had them kind
- 20:30Speaker 3: of on their heels and with your aggressiveness. Now, sometimes
- 20:33Speaker 3: it didn't work out, but I'd say a high high
- 20:35Speaker 3: percentage of the time to me you talked about and
- 20:38Speaker 3: I thought it was a great description. I asked you
- 20:40Speaker 3: about the Jaguars defense front. You said violent. I thought
- 20:43Speaker 3: you guys played with physicality and violence tonight big time.
- 20:47Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 11: Sometimes you're delivering a message to your on guys, you know,
- 20:49Speaker 11: and and they're ready to hear that and step up
- 20:52Speaker 11: and do what.
- 20:53Speaker 7: We need to do to win the game.
- 20:54Speaker 11: And again, just just really proud of offense, defense, special teams.
- 20:58Speaker 7: Guys. Guys did what need to do to get this win.
- 21:00Speaker 7: I'm really proud of him.
- 21:02Speaker 3: When they scored fourteen points in like a little over
- 21:04Speaker 3: two minute time. For two minutes and twenty seconds, whatever
- 21:07Speaker 3: it was, it could have it could have gotten ugly form,
- 21:10Speaker 3: but man, you guys showed the resiliency, I mean, bounce
- 21:13Speaker 3: right back and stay after it. I thought the team
- 21:15Speaker 3: showed a lot of character to night.
- 21:17Speaker 11: Yeah, I didn't feel a lull from the team at all.
- 21:19Speaker 11: You know, we felt like we had the momentum going
- 21:21Speaker 11: into halftime. Offensive score, defense, gotta stop. Came out and
- 21:26Speaker 11: felt good coming out of the half, and then and
- 21:28Speaker 11: then there was a chance there for them to regain
- 21:29Speaker 11: the momentum.
- 21:30Speaker 7: Our guys didn't let them have it. Our guys responded
- 21:31Speaker 7: the right way and got us right back in the game.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Well, I know your mom was happy at the end
- 21:35Speaker 3: of the game when it was a tie and it
- 21:36Speaker 3: went't it to overtime, But I'm glad that you got
- 21:38Speaker 3: the win. And now it's two two and one. It's
- 21:40Speaker 3: even Steven and the in the Taylor family and what
- 21:44Speaker 3: a first family of football it is. Man, you guys
- 21:46Speaker 3: are you guys are do the game proud? No question,
- 21:49Speaker 3: I appreciate it. I think that he did a great
- 21:51Speaker 3: job from what I could see too. And it's a shame.
- 21:53Speaker 3: I hope their quarterback's not hurt too bad. That's that
- 21:55Speaker 3: gives you a sick feeling to see all these quarterbacks
- 21:57Speaker 3: go down like that and uh, hopefully he's okay.

- 22:18Speaker 2: is the official healthcare provider.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Of the Bengals.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Now time for the radio guys recap.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Lapp.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I think we both thought that Jake Browning was capable
- 22:28Speaker 2: of having a really good game, but I can't honestly
- 22:31Speaker 2: say that I thought he was capable of thirty two
- 22:33Speaker 2: for thirty seven for three point fifty plus, including a
- 22:36Speaker 2: bunch of really important clutch throws when they had to
- 22:39Speaker 2: have it.
- 22:39Speaker 3: He was unbelievably accurate. He showed confidence, he showed poise,
- 22:45Speaker 3: he showed leadership, brilliant decision making. I mean a quarterback rating,
- 22:50Speaker 3: a one fifteen point five seventy six yard touchdown pass.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I mean he rushed, rushed for one, through for one.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I mean it was it was a spectacular performance. I
- 23:01Speaker 3: think I think that Zach Taylor and the Bengals offensive
- 23:06Speaker 3: coaches put him in good situations. They did everything with him.
- 23:10Speaker 3: They ran the bootlegs, you know that the running game.
- 23:15Speaker 3: They stayed with it, and that paid dividends over one
- 23:18Speaker 3: hundred and fifty yards. And he was talking about how
- 23:20Speaker 3: that opened things up for him, and Jake was effusive
- 23:23Speaker 3: in his praise. Obviously the offensive line. He said, you
- 23:25Speaker 3: know it started there, and you know, he said, there's
- 23:29Speaker 3: always things that you can think of after a game
- 23:32Speaker 3: that you wish you had back. But I mean, that
- 23:33Speaker 3: was that was just a spectacular performance. I mean, he
- 23:36Speaker 3: he he just changed the trajectory of his NFL career.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, he's going to have a job for
- 23:44Speaker 2: a while somewhere, hopefully Cincinnati. But I mean he showed
- 23:48Speaker 2: that he can be somebody's, if not their starting quarterbacks
- 23:51Speaker 2: certainly a very viable number two.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Oh, no question. I mean it's you don't have guys
- 23:58Speaker 3: very often in their second NFL start throw for over
- 24:01Speaker 3: three hundred and fifty yards against a good defensive football
- 24:03Speaker 3: team at their place. I mean that's I thought though
- 24:07Speaker 3: the Ring game, it was a huge deal. This is
- 24:10Speaker 3: a team that came into the game fourth in the
- 24:12Speaker 3: NFL and rushing, and the Bengals doubled up the yards
- 24:16Speaker 3: that they've been given up during the course of the season.
- 24:18Speaker 3: They rushed for over one hundred and fifty yards. I
- 24:20Speaker 3: mean Joe Mixon, Joe Mixon had a hell of a
- 24:23Speaker 3: football game on the ground and caught the football well.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I thought he finished runs. I thought he ran really hard,
- 24:29Speaker 3: offensive line finished blocks. It was just and I think
- 24:32Speaker 3: the biggest thing was in that two minute and twenty
- 24:35Speaker 3: second stretch of adversity, nobody folded their tent. You know,
- 24:39Speaker 3: everybody showed resiliency and just kept working. And Zach during
- 24:45Speaker 3: the course of the week, I thought, had a great
- 24:46Speaker 3: comment about the Jaguars, a compliment comment about their defensive
- 24:50Speaker 3: front that they played violently. I thought the Bengals were
- 24:53Speaker 3: the more violent team tonight. I thought they they played
- 24:56Speaker 3: with energy, enthusiasm, physicality, and after.
- 25:00Speaker 2: It, Chase Brown was terrific. How much do you think
- 25:03Speaker 2: his pop adds to the offense A lot?
- 25:06Speaker 4: I really do.
- 25:07Speaker 3: I mean, I think you know, he had he had
- 25:10Speaker 3: almost as many yards as Joe on less than half
- 25:13Speaker 3: the carriages. He had nine rushes for sixty one yards
- 25:16Speaker 3: six point eight per He had a thirty one yard rush.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Brownie had a twenty one yard rush himself. Joe Mixon
- 25:22Speaker 3: had an eighteen yard rush and two physical touchdown runs.
- 25:26Speaker 3: I mean, I thought the running game, you know, helped everything.
- 25:30Speaker 3: I think the offensive line felt real good about the
- 25:34Speaker 3: way they were handling things at the line of scrimmage
- 25:36Speaker 3: at that point.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Jamar Chase was spectacular as well, eleven catches for more
- 25:41Speaker 2: than one hundred and forty yards, including that seventy six
- 25:44Speaker 2: yard TD. It is amazing how little is required in
- 25:50Speaker 2: getting him the ball for him to potentially make something
- 25:53Speaker 2: big happens.
- 25:55Speaker 3: He's a threat every single time he gets his hands
- 25:59Speaker 3: on the football, threat of breaking the tackle and gaining
- 26:02Speaker 3: huge yards after that contact or that catch or taken
- 26:06Speaker 3: it to the house. We've seen him do it, you know,
- 26:08Speaker 3: multiple times. It's almost like you're surprised when it doesn't
- 26:12Speaker 3: happen because you start to take it for granted. He
- 26:15Speaker 3: does it so regularly, it's like, you know, when's it
- 26:17Speaker 3: gonna happen, when's gonna happen. I know it's gonna happen,
- 26:20Speaker 3: and ultimately it does. I mean, book it. Every year
- 26:25Speaker 3: eighty plus catches a thousand plus yards. I mean, he
- 26:27Speaker 3: is a machine.
- 26:28Speaker 2: It's funny how football works sometimes. Last week, the Bengals
- 26:31Speaker 2: defense gave up sixteen points and it felt like a
- 26:34Speaker 2: bad performance. Tonight they gave up thirty one, but it
- 26:38Speaker 2: felt like a good performance because when they needed to stop,
- 26:40Speaker 2: they got some.
- 26:41Speaker 3: That's true, and you know it's they get put in
- 26:47Speaker 3: bad spots. You know, a couple of times, I'm sure
- 26:50Speaker 3: that they felt like even you know, with the turnover
- 26:53Speaker 3: that Tyler Boyd have with the interception, they feel like,
- 26:55Speaker 3: you know, a kind I gotta go out there and
- 26:56Speaker 3: limit it to nothing more than a field goal opportunity
- 26:59Speaker 3: and play complimentary football. But I mean there's a there's
- 27:02Speaker 3: a million levels of complimentary football, and I thought the
- 27:04Speaker 3: offense played complimentary football win itself for the first time.
- 27:09Speaker 3: You know, the balance was obvious when you rush for
- 27:11Speaker 3: over one hundred and fifty and throw it for over
- 27:13Speaker 3: three hundred and fifty, you know you're you're playing complimentary football,
- 27:16Speaker 3: There's no question.
- 27:18Speaker 2: So prior to last week's again game against Pittsburgh, we
- 27:20Speaker 2: talked about how they'd probably need to win five games,
- 27:23Speaker 2: and the formula was kind of win the home games,
- 27:26Speaker 2: maybe steal a road winning Pittsburgh. Well, this is a
- 27:29Speaker 2: game you didn't think they would win, and they did,
- 27:31Speaker 2: so they've at least put themselves back into kind of
- 27:34Speaker 2: a mathematical chance of if they could you know, take
- 27:37Speaker 2: care of business at home and steal one more road game,
- 27:39Speaker 2: they got a.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Shot, absolutely, you know, and Indianapolis comes to town and
- 27:44Speaker 3: they're they're playoff alive. They're there right now. If the
- 27:49Speaker 3: playoffs were to start today, they'd be in. And that's
- 27:52Speaker 3: the case with every team remaining just about so they're
- 27:56Speaker 3: going to have their opportunities. And I just thought that
- 27:59Speaker 3: it was a great tonight.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Again.
- 28:01Speaker 3: You're on the road, national television, the crowd's going crazy,
- 28:06Speaker 3: You've had diversity hit fourteen points in a little over
- 28:09Speaker 3: two minutes, and you stand up and and you do
- 28:13Speaker 3: something about it instead of, you know, saying it's not
- 28:16Speaker 3: our night. You made sure it was your night. You
- 28:18Speaker 3: went and took it. And I think I think that's
- 28:21Speaker 3: both volumes. I think that this football team has has
- 28:25Speaker 3: the mental toughness and the physical toughness to get something done.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Feel terrible for Jacksonville fans and for Trevor Lawrence obviously
- 28:32Speaker 2: to see him go down like that when they're having
- 28:34Speaker 2: a special season, and we know how it feels with
- 28:36Speaker 2: Joe Burrow getting hurt a couple of weeks ago, but
- 28:38Speaker 2: that doesn't make it any easier.
- 28:40Speaker 3: You're right, Dan, I mean, your your heart goes out
- 28:42Speaker 3: to the guy, and you know, and he's he's so
- 28:46Speaker 3: much fun to watch. I mean, he's a special talent,
- 28:48Speaker 3: just like number nine. Joe Burrow is a special talent.
- 28:51Speaker 3: This guy is a is a unique talent himself. And
- 28:55Speaker 3: the NFL is what it is because of these kind
- 28:58Speaker 3: of guys. And you know, it's a brutal blow. You
- 29:03Speaker 3: just hate to see a guy react like he reacted.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Hopefully it's just an ankle sprain. You know, no announcement
- 29:10Speaker 3: at this point in time, but if it is an
- 29:12Speaker 3: ankle sprain, it looked like it was a pretty severe one.
- 29:16Speaker 4: That was one freaking fun game.
- 29:19Speaker 3: It was entertaining, wasn't it. I think I think it
- 29:22Speaker 3: was the most ties there's been in an NFL game
- 29:25Speaker 3: this year. I think there were five, maybe six ties,
- 29:29Speaker 3: and I think I heard where that might be the
- 29:31Speaker 3: most of any NFL game this season. And for it
- 29:34Speaker 3: to happen on Monday night football with the Cincinnati Bengals
- 29:38Speaker 3: is one of the participants.
- 29:39Speaker 5: A is cool.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Let's get on a plane of golf.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Let's do it to it, sir.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Up Next a home game against the seven and five Colts,
- 29:48Speaker 2: who have won four games in a row, but those
- 29:51Speaker 2: wins have been against Carolina, New England, Tampa Bay, and Tennessee,
- 29:57Speaker 2: and those teams are combined twelve and thirty six. The
- 30:01Speaker 2: Colts are an early one point favorite for next Sunday.
- 30:06Speaker 2: Now time for this week's fun Facts conversation, where you
- 30:09Speaker 2: get to know the person under the pads. Time for
- 30:14Speaker 2: some fun facts with Charlie Jones from Deerfield, Illinois, not
- 30:18Speaker 2: far from Chicago. What did young Charlie Jones like to
- 30:22Speaker 2: do growing up in Deerfield?
- 30:25Speaker 10: Really just hang out with my friends.
- 30:27Speaker 8: Felt like we were always we were always doing something,
- 30:30Speaker 8: you know, in the summertime, we'd swim a lot, and.
- 30:33Speaker 10: You know, we played.
- 30:34Speaker 8: We played all the sports, football, basketball, baseball, tennis, really
- 30:38Speaker 8: just hung out. Got a big family, so I was
- 30:41Speaker 8: always busy doing something with my siblings, but really around
- 30:46Speaker 8: sports and just just really hanging out.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Did you get to go to Bulls, Bears, White Sox, Cubs,
- 30:52Speaker 2: black Hawks games, anything like that as a kid.
- 30:54Speaker 8: Yeah, we went to more Socks games when I was
- 30:57Speaker 8: a kid than anything. But you know, we went to
- 31:01Speaker 8: Bulls games, Blackhawks games, which are always fun, especially you
- 31:05Speaker 8: know when we're playing.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Well, any memorable games that you attended in any of
- 31:09Speaker 2: those sports.
- 31:10Speaker 8: I don't think I went to any like crazy big game.
- 31:15Speaker 8: I didn't go to these games, but like when when
- 31:17Speaker 8: the Blackhawks were in the Stanley Cup, that was always
- 31:19Speaker 8: a crazy time. And I was in high school during
- 31:22Speaker 8: that time, and we, uh, you know, we took school
- 31:25Speaker 8: off to go to the parade and everything. So when
- 31:28Speaker 8: Chicago sports are playing, well, it's it's fun down there.
- 31:31Speaker 2: We're doing fun facts with Charlie Jones. You mentioned your family.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I've read that you have the Roman numeral eight yes,
- 31:37Speaker 2: tattooed on you as significance to your family.
- 31:40Speaker 4: Explain that.
- 31:41Speaker 8: Yeah, so there's eight of us, you know, Mom, Dad,
- 31:44Speaker 8: and I have five siblings and one of six. I
- 31:47Speaker 8: just kind of it was my brother's idea. I tried
- 31:51Speaker 8: to convince everyone to get the tattoo. Right now, my me,
- 31:55Speaker 8: my brother, and my youngest sister have it.
- 31:58Speaker 10: We're trying to we're trying to make everyone get it.
- 32:01Speaker 8: One of my sisters has a necklace of it, so
- 32:05Speaker 8: not everyone has it yet. But basically for us, it
- 32:08Speaker 8: was just, you know, family's been through a lot, you know,
- 32:12Speaker 8: as families do, and uh, you know, whatever happens, we're
- 32:16Speaker 8: all together through everything. So I wanted to get you know,
- 32:20Speaker 8: eight to symbolize just you know, all of us together.
- 32:23Speaker 2: You had an excellent high school football career, but you
- 32:26Speaker 2: played for a team that ran the triple option. How
- 32:29Speaker 2: much did that impact your recruiting?
- 32:32Speaker 10: Yeah, I think a lot.
- 32:34Speaker 8: It's hard to show what you can do as a
- 32:37Speaker 8: receiver in an offense like that.
- 32:41Speaker 10: You know, I still I still got some touches.
- 32:43Speaker 8: You know, in the run game, and and could show
- 32:46Speaker 8: what I could do as a receiver kind of as
- 32:48Speaker 8: a dB just just you know, the way I may
- 32:52Speaker 8: play plays on the on the ball and you know,
- 32:55Speaker 8: just kind of that way, and then I returned kicks
- 32:57Speaker 8: and punts. So just trying to find way is to
- 33:02Speaker 8: show that you know, I'm a player and you know
- 33:05Speaker 8: I can be a receiver. But yeah, you know, it's
- 33:07Speaker 8: not it's not easy when you catch. You know, I
- 33:10Speaker 8: think my junior year I had like tang catches. My
- 33:12Speaker 8: senior year I had like twenty or something like that.
- 33:14Speaker 10: So it's not easy.
- 33:15Speaker 8: But you know, I knew if I just went out
- 33:18Speaker 8: there and did everything I possibly could, someone's gonna take me.
- 33:22Speaker 4: What's it a dream to go to Notre Dame?
- 33:24Speaker 10: It was, Yeah, that was my school forever.
- 33:28Speaker 8: My family, you know, love Notre Dame, and you know,
- 33:32Speaker 8: coming out of high school was not an option. Later
- 33:35Speaker 8: on it was an option, but you know, obviously I
- 33:38Speaker 8: didn't end up going there.
- 33:40Speaker 2: You ultimately chose to go to the University of Buffalo.
- 33:43Speaker 2: He stayed for a couple of years, then decided to
- 33:45Speaker 2: transfer to Iowa and had to initially walk on at
- 33:48Speaker 2: Iowa before getting a scholarship there. How difficult was that decision?
- 33:52Speaker 8: Oh, I mean, at the time, it was the hardest
- 33:54Speaker 8: decision I've ever had to make. Really really took a
- 33:59Speaker 8: lot of thinking out talking it through with my family.
- 34:01Speaker 8: I felt like every day I was kind of you know,
- 34:04Speaker 8: talking to my dad and my brothers and sisters and
- 34:06Speaker 8: my mom. But you know, I really believe that I
- 34:10Speaker 8: could play against the best every week. And you know,
- 34:15Speaker 8: I knew that making a move like going to the
- 34:18Speaker 8: Big ten would would give me that opportunity.
- 34:21Speaker 10: And you know, I was coming off surgery.
- 34:24Speaker 8: Nobody had a scholarship for me, so I was like,
- 34:25Speaker 8: if I'm gonna walk on, I'm gonna walk on somewhere
- 34:28Speaker 8: that has a tradition of walk ons, which was which
- 34:31Speaker 8: was Iowa. And it was tough because, I mean I
- 34:35Speaker 8: left a scholarship and now now my family had to
- 34:37Speaker 8: had to pay for school, which is difficult when you
- 34:41Speaker 8: know you're you're you know that other people are gonna,
- 34:45Speaker 8: you know, be affected by your decision. But everyone was
- 34:49Speaker 8: super supportive and amazing for the whole thing, so it
- 34:51Speaker 8: made it a little bit easier for me.
- 34:53Speaker 2: We're visiting with Charlie Jones. Iowa doesn't run the triple option,
- 34:57Speaker 2: but it's not exactly a prolific passing to and so
- 35:00Speaker 2: for your final college season, you transferred to Purdue and
- 35:04Speaker 2: in your first game for the Boiler makers. You had
- 35:06Speaker 2: twelve catches for one hundred and fifty three yards against
- 35:09Speaker 2: Penn State. Can you describe what that game meant to you?
- 35:14Speaker 10: Yeah? It was. It was crazy.
- 35:16Speaker 8: I mean, making another big decision to transfer again with
- 35:20Speaker 8: only one season left was another really difficult.
- 35:24Speaker 10: Thing for me and my family.
- 35:27Speaker 8: You know, I could have It was a lot different
- 35:30Speaker 8: when I was coming out of Buffalo than when I
- 35:32Speaker 8: was leaving Iowa. I had a lot more to choose
- 35:35Speaker 8: from and really made a decision based on where I'm
- 35:41Speaker 8: gonna be most successful. And I knew the quarterback growing
- 35:46Speaker 8: up there and so so to put everything on the
- 35:50Speaker 8: table again and just bet on myself, and then to
- 35:54Speaker 8: come in summer camp, you know, I didn't really know
- 35:56Speaker 8: what was going to really happen. It's not like I
- 35:59Speaker 8: knew I was, I mean me personally, but I mean
- 36:01Speaker 8: it couldn't really tell. I was still learning the system.
- 36:04Speaker 8: And then to come in and have a first game
- 36:06Speaker 8: like that. I remember we got back to the to
- 36:11Speaker 8: the locker room to do media and my friend Aiden,
- 36:14Speaker 8: the quarterback, kind of slid the paper over the stat
- 36:17Speaker 8: sheet over to me and just pointed at he threw
- 36:20Speaker 8: me the ball nineteen times that day. So it was awesome.
- 36:23Speaker 8: It was a good feeling. I knew that we were
- 36:25Speaker 8: gonna have a special year.
- 36:26Speaker 2: That connection with quarterback Aid and O'Connell's amazing because you
- 36:30Speaker 2: guys went back to like second or third grade, right.
- 36:33Speaker 10: Yeah, we started in third grade.
- 36:36Speaker 8: Yeah, so you know, I've known him a long time
- 36:38Speaker 8: and you know, to see him, you know, he's got
- 36:41Speaker 8: a great journey as well.
- 36:42Speaker 10: He walked on at Purdue and you know, stuck it out.
- 36:45Speaker 8: And see him succeed and now he's playing, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 8: at the highest level and he's doing well.
- 36:50Speaker 10: So I'm really happy to see him do that.
- 36:52Speaker 2: He's in the NFL with the Raiders, and you are
- 36:54Speaker 2: obviously in the NFL with the Bengals. You were selected
- 36:56Speaker 2: in the fourth round of this year's draft. Describe your
- 36:59Speaker 2: draft experience.
- 37:01Speaker 10: It was it was a roller coaster.
- 37:04Speaker 8: I mean, you know, try to try to do everything
- 37:08Speaker 8: I possibly could to help myself. You know, that started
- 37:11Speaker 8: right after my season with with the way I trained,
- 37:13Speaker 8: and then you know, the way I prepared for the
- 37:15Speaker 8: Combine and and how I went through my business, and
- 37:18Speaker 8: then after that, I mean, it's out of your control, really,
- 37:21Speaker 8: it's in It's in God's hands and you know, he
- 37:25Speaker 8: he he was always He's always looking out for me
- 37:27Speaker 8: and put me in a perfect situation. But it's stressful
- 37:31Speaker 8: and it's you know, you never know what can happen.
- 37:35Speaker 8: And I remember, you know, just being with my family
- 37:38Speaker 8: and on the second day, not really knowing what was
- 37:42Speaker 8: gonna happen. And I didn't go the second day, and
- 37:44Speaker 8: then all my family and friends were there for the
- 37:46Speaker 8: third day. So it was a really special moment to
- 37:49Speaker 8: be with the people that had been with me this
- 37:51Speaker 8: whole journey. It was definitely really cool and something I
- 37:56Speaker 8: obviously remember forever.
- 37:58Speaker 2: You led the nation and receptions it do with one
- 38:01Speaker 2: more than Tank Dell, who's having a great rookie year
- 38:03Speaker 2: with the Houston Texans, and you acquired the nickname Chuck Sizzle.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Tell us the origin story of Chuck Sizzle.
- 38:10Speaker 8: Yeah, that actually started in that that first Penn State game.
- 38:14Speaker 8: Gus Johnson, you know, gave me that one mess he does,
- 38:20Speaker 8: and no, it was I really didn't hear about it
- 38:23Speaker 8: until you know, the next day, a couple of my
- 38:26Speaker 8: friends were texting me. I really didn't know what they
- 38:28Speaker 8: were talking about, and then people had told me, and
- 38:30Speaker 8: then slowly it just kind of got bigger, uh, and
- 38:33Speaker 8: it started catching on, and you know, they made some
- 38:36Speaker 8: T shirts and it kind of just really grew. And
- 38:38Speaker 8: I wasn't sure if it was going to stick, you know,
- 38:41Speaker 8: into the NFL, and it seems to seems to be
- 38:43Speaker 8: sticking a little bit.
- 38:44Speaker 10: So I like it. I like it a lot. I
- 38:46Speaker 10: think it's cool. It's a little bit different, but it
- 38:49Speaker 10: is cool.
- 38:50Speaker 2: I assume friends and family have purchased a lot of
- 38:52Speaker 2: Chuck Sizzle merchandise. Do they have your blessing to wear
- 38:55Speaker 2: it in public?
- 38:59Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 38:59Speaker 8: No, I mean when I was in at Purdue, everyone
- 39:02Speaker 8: had the Chuck Stizzele shirts and every once in a
- 39:07Speaker 8: while see someone wearing it, or back home someone sees
- 39:10Speaker 8: someone else wearing.
- 39:11Speaker 10: It, they'll sell me a picture.
- 39:13Speaker 8: No, But I mean, as everything throughout my whole career,
- 39:16Speaker 8: they've been super supportive and and whenever they can, they're
- 39:19Speaker 8: gonna they're gonna put it on.
- 39:20Speaker 4: All right.
- 39:20Speaker 2: A few wild card topics now for Charlie Jones. Who
- 39:23Speaker 2: is your all time favorite athlete in any sport?
- 39:28Speaker 4: And why?
- 39:29Speaker 10: Probably Devin Hester.
- 39:30Speaker 8: I mean, being like growing up in Chicago, like at
- 39:34Speaker 8: that time, watching Devin Hester, everybody like was a Hester
- 39:37Speaker 8: fan and and everyone had you know, Hester jerseys, and
- 39:42Speaker 8: whenever he was playing, you know, on fourth down, people
- 39:46Speaker 8: were locked in watching the game. So I think that's
- 39:48Speaker 8: kind of where my love for the pumper turn game started.
- 39:51Speaker 8: And just just watching someone do something that well at
- 39:57Speaker 8: such a high level and do it consistently, it was
- 40:01Speaker 8: cool to see.
- 40:03Speaker 4: Do you have a talent that not many people know about?
- 40:08Speaker 5: Man?
- 40:08Speaker 10: I wish? I wish.
- 40:10Speaker 8: I used to play the piano. My parents made me
- 40:12Speaker 8: play the piano when I was younger.
- 40:14Speaker 10: Hated it.
- 40:16Speaker 8: Should have stuck with it, though, because I got I
- 40:18Speaker 8: got nothing.
- 40:19Speaker 10: Really I can juggle.
- 40:21Speaker 4: I don't know if that counts how many objects?
- 40:24Speaker 10: Just three?
- 40:24Speaker 8: Just three? Tennis ball? Yeah, I don't know if I could.
- 40:28Speaker 8: I see her doing the football is on the sideline.
- 40:30Speaker 10: I don't know if I could do.
- 40:31Speaker 2: That, all right, limited piano playing skills and juggling, those
- 40:34Speaker 2: are both good skills to have. Being from the Chicago area.
- 40:38Speaker 2: What is your favorite Chicago food and where do you
- 40:42Speaker 2: go to get it?
- 40:43Speaker 8: I don't really eat this way that much anymore, but
- 40:47Speaker 8: a lot of people would say Luma Natties, But I'm
- 40:50Speaker 8: I'm a Barnaby's guy.
- 40:51Speaker 4: We're talking deep dish pizza.
- 40:53Speaker 10: This is thin crust.
- 40:54Speaker 8: Okay, yeah, Luminais is deep dish, but yeah, I don't
- 40:57Speaker 8: really like the deep dish like that. I'd prefer a
- 41:00Speaker 8: thin crust. But I'm I'm pretty I'm pretty simple when
- 41:04Speaker 8: it comes to that. Well, I pretty much eat the
- 41:07Speaker 8: same thing every day. But if I were to do that,
- 41:09Speaker 8: it'd probably be Barnaby's, Yeah, or maybe Italian I don't
- 41:13Speaker 8: know one or the other.
- 41:15Speaker 2: All right, final thing for Charlie Jones, this is kind
- 41:18Speaker 2: of deep. If you could meet anybody in history, living
- 41:23Speaker 2: or deceased, who would that person be?
- 41:27Speaker 10: Maybe maybe Michael Jordan.
- 41:31Speaker 8: I mean, I think that'd be That'd be crazy to
- 41:33Speaker 8: sit down with him and just let him talk about,
- 41:36Speaker 8: you know, things that he's done over the years and
- 41:38Speaker 8: just kind of just listen to to everything that he
- 41:41Speaker 8: has to say. Again, being you know, someone from Chicago,
- 41:45Speaker 8: I think that'd be.
- 41:46Speaker 10: That'd be really cool.
- 41:47Speaker 2: You're off the hot seat. I appreciate your time. Best
- 41:50Speaker 2: of like the rest of the year.
- 41:51Speaker 10: Thank you appreciate it.
- 41:53Speaker 1: That's going to do it.
