- 0:00Hello, welcome to the new Oh God Coach
- 0:02huddle for May 21, 2025. Your two-minute
- 0:06play of the day for applying God's word
- 0:08in your life. So, let's huddle up and
- 0:10hear today's play from Luke 5, which
- 0:13says, "He said, Jesus said to Simon,
- 0:15"Don't be afraid. From now on, you will
- 0:17fish for people. But I want you to know
- 0:20that the Son of Man has authority on
- 0:22earth to forgive sins." So, he said to
- 0:24the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get up,
- 0:26take your mat, and go home."
- 0:28Jesus answered them, "It's not the
- 0:30healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
- 0:32I have not come to call the righteous,
- 0:34but sinners to repentance." The purpose
- 0:37of disciplehip. The reason for Jesus's
- 0:40training of the apostles is the great
- 0:43commission. Jesus called his chosen 12
- 0:46fishers of men.
- 0:48What people were they and now we who
- 0:51call ourselves Christians fishing for
- 0:55all people seeking a savior from the
- 0:57guilt, shame and consequence of their
- 1:00disobedience to God. Our schools have
- 1:03perpetrated another lie about human
- 1:05nature, which is that people are born
- 1:08good but become bad as a result of a
- 1:10poor environment. At a minimum, the wise
- 1:13of this world teach humanity as a born a
- 1:16blank slate upon which goodness or
- 1:19badness becomes imprinted upon us
- 1:21causing us to become good or bad adults.
- 1:25The Bible refutes this teaching. All
- 1:28die. The consequence of all having sin
- 1:31or rebellion against God in our DNA.
- 1:34were born ignorant of God, becoming
- 1:36rebels against God and humanity from in
- 1:40infancy. Toddlers and children have to
- 1:43be taught about God in righteousness.
- 1:45They're not predisposed to knowledge of
- 1:47him or adherence to his will until we
- 1:51recognize we need a savior, that we are
- 1:53a morally bankrupt people from birth,
- 1:56that our thoughts, words, and deeds are
- 1:58not in perfect alignment with a perfect
- 2:00will of God. We will reject our need for
- 2:03a savior. Repentance is the recognition
- 2:06of our sinfulness, our ignoring and re
- 2:09rebelling against God, and our desire to
- 2:12not live life God's way is prescribed in
- 2:15the scriptures. Repentance is crying out
- 2:18to God for pardon, mercy, and
- 2:20forgiveness for living in rebellion
- 2:22against him. Repentance is coming to
- 2:25Jesus in faith, believing in his work
- 2:28that as God, he became man to die for
- 2:30man's rebellion on the cross only to be
- 2:33raised from the dead as God, proving his
- 2:36sacrifice was acceptable and his promise
- 2:38of eternal life to us is reliable. The
- 2:41disciple of Jesus shares Jesus with
- 2:44others in the ocean of humanity, seeking
- 2:47to catch those who are looking for peace
- 2:49with God, the forgiveness of their sins,
- 2:52and life eternal. No.
