Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, this is Stephen Furtick.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I'm the pastor of Elevation Church, and this is our podcast.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Be sure to subscribe so we can get you these
- 0:11Speaker 2: new sermons every week. Hope you're blessed today. You know,
- 0:20Speaker 2: sometimes the miracle that you need is one modification away.
- 0:24Speaker 2: So we say, I'm cooked, and God says, you're not cooked.
- 0:28Speaker 2: You just need a correction. Do you know how many
- 0:31Speaker 2: times you are just a little shift away from God
- 0:34Speaker 2: doing something amazing in your life? I was so distracted
- 0:38Speaker 2: by what I was struggling with. I did not see
- 0:41Speaker 2: what God had already done. He says, I know your
- 0:44Speaker 2: heart is breaking, and I know your nets are breaking.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You are not cooked. You are called. You are chosen,
- 0:51Speaker 2: and he's got you. I'm thankful to be back in
- 0:55Speaker 2: this pulpit today, and I want to share with you
- 0:58Speaker 2: a message from John chapter 21.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And I'd like you to turn in your Bible.
- 1:02Speaker 2: If you brought your Bible to John chapter 21, if
- 1:04Speaker 2: you didn't, the scripture is going to come up on
- 1:05Speaker 2: the screen. And this message comes from a story that
- 1:10Speaker 2: is very familiar to our church. I have preached it
- 1:12Speaker 2: many times, and yet there is a revelation that God
- 1:17Speaker 2: gave me that I think will be so relevant. to
- 1:24Speaker 2: our lives today. John, chapter 21. If you don't like
- 1:32Speaker 2: who you're sitting next to, you have about 20 seconds
- 1:34Speaker 2: to move around before I read this scripture. Ask the
- 1:39Speaker 2: person next to you, are you a good partner? Because
- 1:44Speaker 2: when Pastor Stephen preaches, I need somebody who's not scared
- 1:47Speaker 2: to say amen. Come on, I need somebody who's not
- 1:50Speaker 2: scrolling on Snapchat while he's preaching this word. I need
- 1:55Speaker 2: somebody who's not just waiting to get to lunch. I
- 1:57Speaker 2: need a word from God today. I have to make
- 2:00Speaker 2: sure I'm on the right row.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Come on.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Look up and down your row.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Do a row check.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Is there anybody who looks like they're barely breathing? I
- 2:08Speaker 2: want all the fired-up Christians on your row. How are
- 2:11Speaker 2: y'all doing back there, Legacy? Y'all ready for this word today?
- 2:15Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:18Speaker 1: The Word of the Lord.
- 2:20Speaker 2: John, chapter 21. I'm going to read up to verse
- 2:24Speaker 2: 8 for now. John, chapter 21, verses 1 through 8.
- 2:29Speaker 2: See if you remember this Bible story. It says, Afterward,
- 2:33Speaker 2: Jesus appeared again to his disciples by the Sea of Galilee.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It happened this way.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Simon Peter, Thomas, also known as Didymus … Yeah, if
- 2:45Speaker 2: Didymus was my second name, I'd go by Thomas too.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee. the sons of Zebedee, and
- 2:55Speaker 2: two other disciples were together. They were together. They were confused,
- 3:01Speaker 2: but they were together. They were torn, but they were together.
- 3:05Speaker 2: They were in transition, but they were together. Tell your neighbor,
- 3:09Speaker 2: let's stick together. Let's stick together. Verse 3, I'm going
- 3:15Speaker 2: out to fish, Simon Peter told them. Sounds more like
- 3:19Speaker 2: Simon than Peter, you know. going back to his previous occupation.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm going out to fish, Simon Peter told them, and
- 3:29Speaker 2: they said, we'll go with you. So they went out
- 3:32Speaker 2: and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but
- 3:39Speaker 2: the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He
- 3:44Speaker 2: called out to them, friends, haven't you any fish?
- 3:48Speaker 1: No, they answered.
- 3:51Speaker 2: He said, throw your net on the right side of
- 3:54Speaker 2: the boat and you will find some. When they did,
- 3:59Speaker 2: when they did, when they did, not when they heard,
- 4:03Speaker 2: when they did, not when they thought, when they, not
- 4:09Speaker 2: when they argued, when they did, when they did, they
- 4:13Speaker 2: were unable to haul the net in because of the
- 4:15Speaker 2: large number of fish. Then the disciple whom Jesus thought Loved.
- 4:21Speaker 2: A little self-referential, isn't it, John? said to Peter, It
- 4:26Speaker 2: is the Lord!
- 4:26Speaker 1: And he wrapped his outer.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Or, excuse me, as soon as Simon Peter heard him say,
- 4:32Speaker 2: It is the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him,
- 4:36Speaker 2: for he had taken it off, and jumped into the water.
- 4:40Speaker 2: The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net
- 4:44Speaker 2: full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about.
- 4:49Speaker 1: A hundred yards. That's the word of the Lord.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Now, if I were preaching this message at the Methodist
- 4:55Speaker 2: church where I grew up, I would call it.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Something like faith to move forward through failure and frustration.
- 5:06Speaker 2: I would give it a nice, dignified, self-explanatory title like that.
- 5:10Speaker 2: But since I'm at elevation, since I'm back home, since
- 5:14Speaker 2: I hadn't seen you in three weeks, I want.
- 5:17Speaker 1: To call this message something different. I'm going to call
- 5:19Speaker 1: it cook. Cooked. Cooked. Everybody say cooked.
- 5:29Speaker 2: If you know what I'm talking about when I say cooked,
- 5:31Speaker 2: wave at me. If you're pretending like you know what
- 5:34Speaker 2: I'm talking about, but you kind of want me to clarify, wave.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Y'all sit down. We'll talk about it. Cooked.
- 5:43Speaker 2: It is a great honor and a great challenge to
- 5:47Speaker 2: pastor such a diverse and broad body of believers. To
- 5:52Speaker 2: know that some people in this room when I said
- 5:55Speaker 2: John 21, say, Yippee! I love John 21. I hope
- 6:02Speaker 2: he gets to the part about the three different Greek
- 6:05Speaker 2: words for love. Some people are looking around for John.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Who's John? Where's John? I love that.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Diversity of biblical background, the diversity of cultural background. I
- 6:17Speaker 2: love how some of you can't clap on rhythm, and
- 6:20Speaker 2: you've been coming here nine years. but you're still trying
- 6:25Speaker 2: and you keep coming. I love how our church is
- 6:29Speaker 2: made up of some people who are going through the
- 6:32Speaker 2: deepest valley of their life and some people who are
- 6:34Speaker 2: standing on the highest mountain.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I love all of that.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I love how some of y'all are going gray with
- 6:41Speaker 2: me and like me. Your hairline isn't as good as mine,
- 6:45Speaker 2: but you're going gray with me. I love how at
- 6:49Speaker 2: the same time I'm looking over here at about 100
- 6:51Speaker 2: fired up students who love the Lord Jesus and are
- 6:54Speaker 2: not afraid to mosh for the man on the middle cross.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I almost got knocked over in the mosh pit when
- 7:03Speaker 2: they came up here earlier.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I was looking for security, man.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I love that feeling of just on edge. Some of
- 7:10Speaker 2: y'all don't know the book of Ruth from a baby Ruth,
- 7:12Speaker 2: and that's all right.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Preacher jokes.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I love how y'all laugh at preacher jokes, because some
- 7:17Speaker 2: of you never heard them before. I love all of it,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and so it's a challenge as well as a privilege,
- 7:21Speaker 2: because When I say cooked, there are some of you
- 7:26Speaker 2: who know.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Exactly what that means in a cultural sense.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I'm explaining to you real quick, just in case, because
- 7:35Speaker 2: I get this stuff from my kids.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I heard my kids say, I'm cooked a couple of
- 7:38Speaker 1: years ago. I was like, huh? There's kind of a line.
- 7:43Speaker 2: When you hear your kids saying stuff when you have teenagers,
- 7:46Speaker 2: it's like a line is what you can say that
- 7:49Speaker 2: they say. that won't make them cringe. Sometimes I like
- 7:52Speaker 2: to say their words to make them cringe. It's just
- 7:54Speaker 2: a form of revenge for all the hell they put
- 7:56Speaker 2: me through.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I first heard it from my son Elijah. He said,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Now, if somebody says, you cooked, well, that's a good thing.
- 8:13Speaker 2: If they say, you cooked, that means you did that.
- 8:19Speaker 2: That means you That means when they.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Say, you cooked, you cooked, that's a compliment, right? Like, ooh,
- 8:27Speaker 1: they're looking at your outfit. Ooh, that's nice. You cooked
- 8:31Speaker 1: with that. You say, thank you. You cooked.
- 8:36Speaker 2: Or sometimes I'll show my kids a song that I
- 8:38Speaker 2: just wrote, and I'll play them the demo, and they'll
- 8:41Speaker 2: be like, ooh, y'all cooked today.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I say, thank you. Yes, we did.
- 8:48Speaker 2: We absolutely did. And even sometimes, you know, if you
- 8:52Speaker 2: just do something that people just want to, like, gas
- 8:54Speaker 2: you up a little bit, they'll be like, you cooked
- 8:57Speaker 2: when you really did it, like, just to make you
- 8:58Speaker 2: feel better.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But it's a compliment. You say, thank you. If, however,
- 9:04Speaker 1: they say, you're cooked.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Uh-oh. Because you're cooked is a problem, not a compliment.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I know it's confusing because we're a multigenerational ministry, but
- 9:20Speaker 2: you cooked, thank you. You're cooked, uh-oh. Two completely different things.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Same word, but you just have to listen for the
- 9:27Speaker 1: nuance of it.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I'm cooked. I got a test in an hour I
- 9:32Speaker 2: didn't study. I'm cooked.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Pray about it.
- 9:36Speaker 2: It don't matter. God is not listening to the prayers
- 9:39Speaker 2: of a sinner. I'm cooked. Oh, that's a cop. I'm
- 9:51Speaker 2: going 87 miles an hour. It's because I was listening
- 9:55Speaker 2: to Washed, but the cop isn't going to care that
- 9:57Speaker 2: I was full.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Of the Holy Spirit.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I'm cooked.
- 10:02Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Oh, my mom knows I turned my location off. I'm cooked.
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'm cooked. There's no way out of this. You may
- 10:18Speaker 1: never say that. That might not be your word.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Your word might not be as appropriate as cooked, but
- 10:23Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? It's just a word I heard,
- 10:26Speaker 2: and I kind of latched onto it, because we all
- 10:28Speaker 2: know what it feels like to come face to face
- 10:32Speaker 2: with something where you realize, I have more responsibilities than
- 10:36Speaker 2: I have resources.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I'm I'm cooked. I'm cooked.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I'm looking at my schedule for the next three weeks,
- 10:43Speaker 2: and I don't see a break, and I'm already exhausted,
- 10:46Speaker 2: and I'm about to go into my busiest season.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I'm cooked. I'm cooked.
- 10:51Speaker 2: So, if I'm introducing you to this term for the
- 10:53Speaker 2: first time, then great, but no doubt you know the feeling.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 10:59Speaker 2: I'm never going to be able to get this problem
- 11:03Speaker 2: behind me.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 11:05Speaker 2: The doctor called me back and said it was important
- 11:07Speaker 2: that I come in right away.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 11:12Speaker 2: It usually signifies that there's nothing I can do but
- 11:16Speaker 2: to accept the consequence.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I'm cooked. I'm cooked. I wasted those years. Now I
- 11:24Speaker 1: can't get a job. I'm cooked. I knew my marriage
- 11:29Speaker 1: was in trouble.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I think she's really going to leave me this time.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I'm cooked. See how I went from stupid stuff like
- 11:37Speaker 1: your homework … and your.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Outfit to something so serious as I think it's too
- 11:44Speaker 2: late for me to beat this addiction. I think it's
- 11:45Speaker 2: just in me now. I think it was in my
- 11:47Speaker 2: dad and his dad, and I'm cooked, and now I've
- 11:51Speaker 2: run off all the people that helped me the first time.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I'm cooked. Have you ever been cooked?
- 11:58Speaker 2: I think it's safe to say that in John chapter 21,
- 12:02Speaker 2: Simon Peter was cooked.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Think about it.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Every aspect of this passage points not to the glorious
- 12:13Speaker 2: resurrection of Jesus, which has already happened, but the lack
- 12:17Speaker 2: of resolution in his own life, which he's still waiting for.
- 12:22Speaker 2: The resurrection of Jesus was not resolution for Peter. Even
- 12:28Speaker 2: though the finished work of the cross was done, the uncertain.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Future of the disciple still loomed. He's cooked.
- 12:37Speaker 2: He's cooked because He's ruined his reputation as a preacher,
- 12:42Speaker 2: and he's given up his profession as a fisherman. We
- 12:45Speaker 2: can tell he's out of practice because, as I read
- 12:48Speaker 2: you in the text, he fished all night and.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Caught nothing, cooked, frustrated, cooked a failure.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Yet we see in the passage he's moving forward in
- 13:01Speaker 2: faith through failure and frustration because he's cooked. But even
- 13:09Speaker 2: though you feel cooked, there's usually something you can do.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Am I right about it?
- 13:16Speaker 2: I find all of this all-or-nothing thinking or this overgeneralization …
- 13:21Speaker 2: I learned these words when I started going to therapy
- 13:24Speaker 2: to help me with my own issues. Sometimes what we
- 13:28Speaker 2: do is we slap a label on something, and once
- 13:33Speaker 2: we call it over, we don't have to work on.
- 13:34Speaker 1: It anymore because I'm cooked.
- 13:38Speaker 2: There's no need in me getting my grade up in
- 13:41Speaker 2: this class because I'm already cooked. There's no need on
- 13:46Speaker 2: me eating broccoli tomorrow.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Because I just ate Krispy Kreme today.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Why would I eat cauliflower tomorrow when I'm already cooked
- 13:55Speaker 2: from the Krispy Kreme today?
- 13:56Speaker 1: I'm already cooked.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It kind of absolves you from the responsibility. Like, well,
- 14:00Speaker 2: I already raised my voice. I ought to go ahead
- 14:03Speaker 2: and do it at a black belt level now. Let
- 14:05Speaker 2: me add some cuss words in here now, because I'm
- 14:07Speaker 2: already cooked. Do you see how it can quickly become
- 14:10Speaker 2: a fatalistic state of mind to say something like,' It' s over.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I'm done. It's cooked. It's too late.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I'm cooked.
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I want to challenge you from Peter's life that even
- 14:22Speaker 2: when you feel cooked … Who am I preaching to?
- 14:25Speaker 1: You don't say that. You don't say, I'm cooked.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You're 63 years old, but you feel it in your bones.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Too late now. Too old now. Too far gone now.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Should have done it then. Would have done it then.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Could have done it then. I'm cooked. They should have
- 14:39Speaker 2: done it for me. He should have been there for me.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I'm cooked, and it's their fault. I'm cooked, and it's
- 14:43Speaker 2: my fault. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. How
- 14:49Speaker 2: may I move forward by faith right now is the
- 14:53Speaker 2: question we came to ask today. Peter said something in
- 14:58Speaker 2: verse 3. He said, I'm going fishing. Even though fishing
- 15:04Speaker 2: isn't going to fix it, that's all I know to do. So,
- 15:09Speaker 2: when you don't know what to do, do what you
- 15:12Speaker 2: can do. You mean you drove all the way out
- 15:17Speaker 2: here to hear me say something that simple? Yep. One
- 15:21Speaker 2: time I was going through a little bit of a
- 15:23Speaker 2: meltdown in my mind, and I called a friend to
- 15:27Speaker 2: talk about all the issues. I was cooked and burned
- 15:30Speaker 2: out and tired, and my friend said, Have you been
- 15:34Speaker 2: outside today? I said, Have you been listening to anything
- 15:40Speaker 2: I've told you? I did not call you as my
- 15:43Speaker 2: activity consultant. I called you to give me some advice
- 15:47Speaker 2: about all of my problems, which I have just listed
- 15:50Speaker 2: for you. I have staff members quitting on me. I
- 15:53Speaker 2: have church drama. At the time, we had buildings we
- 15:56Speaker 2: had to pay for. I have seven Easter services.
- 16:00Speaker 1: I'm about to preach. I'm cooked.
- 16:02Speaker 2: They said, it's a beautiful day outside. Would you maybe
- 16:08Speaker 2: want to take a walk while we talk? Something about serotonin.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Something about sunshine. Something about that simple. You know how
- 16:20Speaker 2: you get in your head, and Peter is all in
- 16:23Speaker 2: his head, and he's cooked, and I denied Christ, and
- 16:27Speaker 2: I cursed by the fire, and I said I wasn't
- 16:29Speaker 2: one of his disciples, and I said I wouldn't let
- 16:32Speaker 2: him down, and I was the first to let him down,
- 16:35Speaker 2: and I've seen that he's risen, and I've seen that
- 16:37Speaker 2: he lives, but I'm lost. You can know that he
- 16:40Speaker 2: lives and still feel lost. You can know that he's
- 16:44Speaker 2: risen and still not have resolution. You can be in
- 16:47Speaker 2: between even though you've seen him, even though you know him,
- 16:50Speaker 2: even though you've touched him, even though he showed Thomas.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Put your hand in the side. Put your hand in
- 16:55Speaker 2: the holes. Even though you have had evidence of the
- 16:57Speaker 2: presence of God, there can be a sense in your
- 17:00Speaker 2: life where you feel paralyzed about what to do next.
- 17:02Speaker 2: So Peter said, I know how to fish. Let me
- 17:07Speaker 2: get out there and do what I know how to do.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Not just fish, but let me fish on the same sea,
- 17:15Speaker 2: the Sea of Galilee, where he found me and he
- 17:20Speaker 2: called me. Somebody say, he called me. I want to
- 17:24Speaker 2: divide this sermon into three points today. The first one
- 17:28Speaker 2: is the call. I want to talk to you for
- 17:32Speaker 2: a few moments today about the call, because the Sea
- 17:36Speaker 2: of Galilee is not only where Peter.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Went to fish after he failed Jesus.
- 17:41Speaker 2: It was where he learned to follow Jesus to begin
- 17:43Speaker 2: with in Luke, chapter 5, when Jesus said, let down
- 17:47Speaker 2: the nets for.
- 17:48Speaker 1: A catch after he had taught all day from Peter's boat.
- 17:52Speaker 2: So, Peter, fresh from his failure, deep in frustration, not
- 17:57Speaker 2: knowing what's next, completely cooked from a human standpoint, says
- 18:01Speaker 2: something so simple. I'm going back to the place where
- 18:05Speaker 2: he called me. I'm going back to the place where
- 18:08Speaker 2: he got on my boat. I know this is so simple,
- 18:12Speaker 2: but sometimes when you feel cooked, you just need to
- 18:15Speaker 2: come back. Come back to some simple things. Come back
- 18:20Speaker 2: to what you know. Come back to, he loves me.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Come back to, he died for me. Sometimes you make
- 18:25Speaker 2: it too complicated. Sometimes you need God to show you
- 18:29Speaker 2: three steps. Sometimes God only needs to give you one step.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Praise me. Worship me. Glorify me. Speak the name of Jesus.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Get around somebody who loves God like you love God. Oh,
- 18:43Speaker 2: magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his
- 18:46Speaker 2: name together. Peter said to his partners, I'm going fishing,
- 18:51Speaker 2: and they said, I'm going with you, so ask your
- 18:53Speaker 2: neighbor a question. Will you praise him with me? I'm
- 18:57Speaker 2: going through some things right now, and I need somebody
- 19:00Speaker 2: on my row right now who really knows what it's
- 19:03Speaker 2: like when he's alive. but you're a little lost to
- 19:07Speaker 2: come back to the place where he found you. Tell
- 19:12Speaker 2: three people, I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
- 19:15Speaker 2: I'm coming back. I'm coming back.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I'm coming back.
- 19:17Speaker 2: I don't know when I'll see him again, but I'm
- 19:19Speaker 2: going back to the Sea of Galilee where he taught
- 19:21Speaker 2: me how to obey him, where he said, let.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Down the nets for a catch.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Isn't it interesting that this miracle I read you resembles
- 19:28Speaker 2: so closely the miracle that began Peter's ministry, and Jesus
- 19:32Speaker 2: is bringing him full circle?
- 19:36Speaker 1: Look at verse 5, y'all. He called out to them.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Circle called, Justin. He called.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Somebody say, I'm still called. Cooked, but I'm called. Confused,
- 20:02Speaker 4: but I'm called. It's complicated, but I'm called.
- 20:07Speaker 2: I'm back fishing for a minute. but when he went
- 20:12Speaker 2: back to the place of his original call, the first love,
- 20:18Speaker 2: the joy of my salvation, the place where I remember …
- 20:23Speaker 2: I do this every time we go out on Elevation Nights.
- 20:26Speaker 1: You can ask the boys. I come in, and we pray.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Usually, I say, remembering your mind when you were a
- 20:33Speaker 2: little boy, when you were a little girl, and you
- 20:36Speaker 2: prayed that God would use you to lead people to
- 20:39Speaker 2: worship him. Remember that as we go into the next
- 20:43Speaker 2: few nights, because you're going to get tired, and there's
- 20:45Speaker 2: going to be resistance, and there are going to be
- 20:48Speaker 2: times where you're smelling his feet on the.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Tour bus or whatever is happening.
- 20:52Speaker 2: In order to have resilience, you need remembrance, the call.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So, when he comes back to the place, Jesus, he
- 21:08Speaker 1: called out to them. Check it out. It gets better.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Not only did Jesus come to the sea and call
- 21:15Speaker 1: on the sea, look what he called them. Friends. Would
- 21:23Speaker 1: you have still called Peter your friend?
- 21:28Speaker 2: Me and Jesus must have a different definition of friend,
- 21:33Speaker 2: because my definition of friendship has to be kind of reciprocal.
- 21:37Speaker 2: If they're beating me, scourging me, mocking me, and the
- 21:42Speaker 2: best you can do is stand back by the fire
- 21:44Speaker 2: and warm your hands like you don't.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Know me, look at it again. He called out to them.
- 21:51Speaker 1: I can think of some other words. Fools, don't you
- 21:58Speaker 1: have any fish?
- 22:00Speaker 2: Because this is an opportunity for him to really shame
- 22:02Speaker 2: them should he choose to. Shame is like that blanket
- 22:07Speaker 2: that gets on you and starts reminding you of the
- 22:10Speaker 2: fact that not only did you fail Jesus, but you
- 22:14Speaker 2: can't even catch fish. How many have had a thought
- 22:17Speaker 2: like that this week? Let me break this down, Pastor,
- 22:18Speaker 2: a little bit. You can't even get this right. You
- 22:22Speaker 2: can't even get the thing. Not only are you not
- 22:25Speaker 2: succeeding in this area, you're not even getting that right.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I am telling you, the longer I pastor, the more
- 22:32Speaker 2: I am compelled by the compassion of Christ than the
- 22:36Speaker 2: condemnation that has often been leveled against his people in
- 22:43Speaker 2: order to create leverage for behavior modification that is not
- 22:46Speaker 2: grace-based change.
- 22:54Speaker 1: He called out to them. I'm called. How do I
- 23:00Speaker 1: continue when I'm cooked? Because I'm called. Because I'm called
- 23:06Speaker 1: when I'm cooked. Because I'm called when I'm consistent. I'm
- 23:10Speaker 1: called when I'm sporadic.
- 23:13Speaker 2: I'm called when I'm impulsive and crazy. And I'm called
- 23:20Speaker 2: when my actions and my behaviors … I think we
- 23:24Speaker 2: have a different idea of called than God. See, when
- 23:27Speaker 2: God called Peter, he also called Simon. And he knew
- 23:35Speaker 2: all about Simon when he called Peter. Peter wasn't even
- 23:39Speaker 2: his name before Jesus met him. Can I preach about
- 23:42Speaker 2: Jesus for a minute? This is a Christian church. And see,
- 23:46Speaker 2: whatever Jesus calls it, that's what it is. So when
- 23:49Speaker 2: Jesus called Peter rock, that's what he was, even though
- 23:53Speaker 2: his failure was still in his future. And although Peter
- 23:58Speaker 2: was shocked by his denial of Christ, Christ wasn't.
- 24:02Speaker 1: So I'm called. I'm called.
- 24:06Speaker 2: I'm still called. God calls all of me. all of
- 24:11Speaker 2: the parts of me. Do y'all hear me up there?
- 24:13Speaker 2: God calls all of you, every part of you, not
- 24:17Speaker 2: just the parts you think are presentable, not just in
- 24:20Speaker 2: the seasons of your life when you feel the strongest,
- 24:23Speaker 2: not just when you have everything together to present in
- 24:26Speaker 2: an impressive.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Portfolio for others.
- 24:28Speaker 2: God calls all of you, even your mistakes. I know
- 24:33Speaker 2: you can't handle this, because we think God is going
- 24:35Speaker 2: to use us only in our maturity, but God has
- 24:39Speaker 2: a process. by which he gets things ready. God will
- 24:43Speaker 2: use every stage of your development if you embrace him
- 24:47Speaker 2: by faith to release grace in your life to show you,
- 24:51Speaker 2: I'm called. I'm his friend. I'm with him. Even when
- 24:55Speaker 2: I wasn't with him, he was with me, and I'm
- 24:58Speaker 2: called to do this. I can because I'm called. So
- 25:06Speaker 2: he called out to them, Friends, haven't you any fish? No,
- 25:10Speaker 2: they answered. But he doesn't only point to the problem.
- 25:14Speaker 1: He points to the solution.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Verse 6 says, throw your net on the right side
- 25:22Speaker 2: of the boat, and you will find some. When they did,
- 25:25Speaker 2: they weren't able to haul in the net because of
- 25:26Speaker 2: the large number of fish. I want to talk to
- 25:27Speaker 2: you secondly about the catch. There's the call, and then
- 25:36Speaker 2: there's the catch. The great catch of fish. Later we
- 25:40Speaker 2: learned it.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Was 153 fish.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You know, men like to count stuff, like their bench
- 25:46Speaker 2: press number and their bank account. It's kind of crazy
- 25:52Speaker 2: how from verse 5 to verse 6 something shifted that
- 25:56Speaker 2: was so monumental.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Based on something so microscopic.
- 26:03Speaker 2: You know, sometimes the miracle you need is one modification
- 26:07Speaker 2: away Notice what he didn't say in verse 6. He
- 26:13Speaker 2: didn't say, You're in the wrong sea. He didn't say,
- 26:18Speaker 2: You're in the wrong sea. He said, You're on the
- 26:20Speaker 2: wrong side. If I'm in the wrong sea, that means
- 26:27Speaker 2: there are no fish here, but if I'm in the
- 26:30Speaker 2: right sea and the wrong side, there's something so simple.
- 26:37Speaker 1: They went from empty nets to full nets.
- 26:41Speaker 2: But the problem with us is we want the catch
- 26:46Speaker 2: without the correction. So, we say, I'm cooked, and God says,
- 26:55Speaker 2: you're not cooked.
- 26:56Speaker 1: You just need a correction. Sometimes it's just a small correction.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I'm cooked. I've got all of this anxiety in my life.
- 27:05Speaker 2: You're not cooked. You just need one correction. See, you
- 27:09Speaker 2: wake up every morning, and you start scrolling what other
- 27:12Speaker 2: people are saying.
- 27:12Speaker 1: To start the day.
- 27:14Speaker 2: One correction. You said, I woke up on the wrong
- 27:17Speaker 2: side of the bed. When you throw your net on
- 27:19Speaker 2: the right side of the boat and say, God, I'm
- 27:23Speaker 2: starting my day with you. What do you say? What
- 27:26Speaker 2: do you want? Before I check in with what's going
- 27:29Speaker 2: on in the world, let me get within and meet
- 27:32Speaker 2: up with my source and hook up with my God.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Just a little shift. Do you know how many times
- 27:45Speaker 2: you are just a little shift away from God doing
- 27:48Speaker 2: something amazing in your life? There's a catch, and it's
- 27:51Speaker 2: not in another sea.
- 27:53Speaker 1: It's on another side of the same boat.
- 27:55Speaker 2: Let me break this down plain. Some of you are
- 27:57Speaker 2: married to the right person. You just need to start
- 27:59Speaker 2: treating them the right way. Y'all want me to take
- 28:04Speaker 2: three more weeks off, don't you? But I came back
- 28:08Speaker 2: to tell somebody, you're in the right sea, baby. You're
- 28:12Speaker 2: in the right sea. There are other fish on the
- 28:16Speaker 2: other side. Oh, you could have a good family if
- 28:19Speaker 2: you'd get grateful and stop nitpicking. You've got a good
- 28:23Speaker 2: life if you'd start thanking the Lord for it. Isn't
- 28:28Speaker 2: that good? I'm in the right seat. I just have
- 28:32Speaker 2: to get on the right side. I just have to
- 28:35Speaker 2: approach this differently.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I just have to come at it by grace.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I'm going from an empty net to a full net.
- 28:52Speaker 2: You're not cooked, but you're going to have to be corrected.
- 28:55Speaker 2: You're going to have to do something different. You're going
- 28:57Speaker 2: to have to be willing to adjust your attitude a
- 28:59Speaker 2: little bit. You're going to have to be willing to admit,
- 29:02Speaker 2: you know, I probably could have said that better. You're
- 29:05Speaker 2: going to have to be willing to admit, you know what?
- 29:07Speaker 2: I'm casting myself as the victim here.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You know what? Y'all quiet.
- 29:13Speaker 2: You know what? There's nothing wrong with the sea.
- 29:16Speaker 1: It's the side I'm fishing on that has my nets empty.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Do y'all want more on that, or do you want
- 29:24Speaker 2: me to move on to point three?
- 29:28Speaker 1: Point three is my sermon. Point one, edamame. But here
- 29:41Speaker 1: it comes.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Because when I have preached this text historically, I have
- 29:48Speaker 2: been so impressed by the catch of that just on.
- 29:52Speaker 1: The other side of the boat. God is going to
- 29:55Speaker 1: give you a blessing, and it's right there.
- 29:57Speaker 2: God is going to bless you, and you're going to
- 29:59Speaker 2: go from empty nets to sinking boats. I'm attracted to
- 30:03Speaker 2: that kind of preaching and teaching, because I know God can.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I've seen him do it.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I've seen him do stuff. I've seen him change stuff
- 30:09Speaker 2: just right on the spot. I've seen him switch.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Stuff just right on the spot.
- 30:14Speaker 2: I've seen him move things just in a moment, so
- 30:17Speaker 2: I'm tempted to stop.
- 30:19Speaker 1: On the catch.
- 30:20Speaker 2: But this sermon is not called catch. So I want
- 30:26Speaker 2: to show you. What happened next. After they were hauling
- 30:31Speaker 2: in heavy nets. After he called.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And then he. And then he jumped in the water.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And he swam toward.
- 30:40Speaker 2: The Lord.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And verse 9 says something. Crazy. When they landed.
- 30:50Speaker 2: They saw a fire of burning coals there with fish.
- 31:02Speaker 3: On it.
- 31:05Speaker 1: And some bread. So wait a minute. Back up.
- 31:12Speaker 2: We talked about the call. We talked about the catch.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Let's talk about the coals. of burning fire that were
- 31:25Speaker 2: on the shore so that after Peter swam to the
- 31:31Speaker 2: shore half naked, put his clothes back on to jump
- 31:37Speaker 2: in the water. You think God can't use you because
- 31:40Speaker 2: you're crazy? That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in
- 31:43Speaker 2: my life. After denying Christ, after fishing all night catching
- 31:49Speaker 2: nothing … After being cooked by his own decision, cooked
- 31:53Speaker 2: by his own inadequacy, cooked by his own impulsivity, cooked
- 31:57Speaker 2: by his own desire for self-protection, after thinking it's over,
- 32:01Speaker 2: and can God use me now? I'm hauling these heavy
- 32:04Speaker 2: nets on the shore, and the boat's coming behind Peter.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Peter is a leader who doesn't know where he's going.
- 32:11Speaker 2: After all of this, he gets to the shore, and
- 32:15Speaker 2: he sees a fire of burning coals there. with fish
- 32:22Speaker 2: on it. So, you mean to tell me that what
- 32:28Speaker 2: they were trying all night to catch, Jesus already cooked.
- 32:44Speaker 2: You get excited about the catch, but I'm excited about
- 32:49Speaker 2: the cook. I'm not here today because I'm so good
- 32:54Speaker 2: at catching. I'm here today because he's so good at cooking.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Here's my message in a sentence. Let him cook. He's
- 33:05Speaker 2: good at it. Let him cook in your life. Let
- 33:08Speaker 2: him cook in your family. Let him cook in this situation. Ooh,
- 33:16Speaker 2: that got me fired up. No pun intended. I was
- 33:20Speaker 2: so distracted by the fish in the net, I didn't
- 33:24Speaker 2: see the fish that were already on the fire. I
- 33:28Speaker 2: was so distracted by what I was struggling with, I
- 33:31Speaker 2: did not see what God had already done. I was
- 33:35Speaker 2: so distracted by how heavy the nets were, I didn't
- 33:39Speaker 2: realize that the fish I've been looking for are already here,
- 33:44Speaker 2: and he's got one on the fire with my name
- 33:47Speaker 2: on it. Are you feeling this message? You thought I
- 33:54Speaker 2: called this message cooked because you're cooked. I did not.
- 34:00Speaker 2: I called this message cooked because he cooked after I
- 34:06Speaker 2: was cooked. Jesus said to them, verse 10, I'm almost done.
- 34:17Speaker 2: I'm almost finished, but I need us to get a
- 34:20Speaker 2: little happier about the fact that he cooked.
- 34:23Speaker 1: I don't think you understand this. Okay, so say it
- 34:26Speaker 1: like this.
- 34:26Speaker 2: You'll get it.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Even when I'm cooked, he's cooking.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like that, like that, like that.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Even when I'm standing in a red sea nowhere to go,
- 34:39Speaker 2: he's cooking. That water is what he wants to cook in.
- 34:43Speaker 1: He's going to boil.
- 34:44Speaker 2: My enemies in that water, because even when I'm cooked,
- 34:47Speaker 2: he's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Reach around and tell seven people he's cooking.
- 34:53Speaker 2: He's cooking.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Come on.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I didn't make you tell 21.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Just seven.
- 34:56Speaker 2: He's cooking. He's cooking. He's cooking.
- 34:58Speaker 1: He's cooking. Don't quit. He's cooking.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Don't give up.
- 35:00Speaker 1: He's cooking.
- 35:01Speaker 5: You have to let him cook. You have to stay
- 35:03Speaker 5: out of the kitchen. You have to let the chef
- 35:05Speaker 5: do what the chef does. You have to let him
- 35:07Speaker 5: get all the Simon out so that Peter can preach
- 35:10Speaker 5: because he's cooking. I'm not praising because I cooked. I'm
- 35:14Speaker 5: praising because he cooked.
- 35:17Speaker 2: He kept … He led. He made a way. He
- 35:21Speaker 2: did it. And no weapon that is formed against my
- 35:25Speaker 2: family will prosper. Because my God, he caught. He caught.
- 35:34Speaker 1: He caught.
- 35:35Speaker 2: You wonder why we're praising? Because he cooked. He cooked
- 35:39Speaker 2: when we couldn't. He cooked when we were out. He
- 35:42Speaker 2: cooked when the bills were due. He cooked when the
- 35:44Speaker 2: doctors said no way. He cooked when I was lonely.
- 35:48Speaker 2: He cooked when my friends walked away. He cooked. He cooked.
- 35:59Speaker 2: He cooked. He cooked. He cooked. He cooked when they
- 36:03Speaker 2: couldn't catch. He cooked when they did catch. He cooked.
- 36:06Speaker 2: He's giving them a lot of credit.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Look at verse 10.
- 36:09Speaker 2: He said, Hey, boys. Hey, boys.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Jesus is so nice. Jesus is so kind.
- 36:13Speaker 2: He said, Bring some of the fish you have just caught.
- 36:17Speaker 2: The ones you … Yeah. You caught them. You did
- 36:24Speaker 2: that so good, baby. That drawing is amazing. I'm hanging
- 36:31Speaker 2: on the refrigerator. Bring me some of your fish. I
- 36:34Speaker 2: love your fish, baby. It's never been about what you
- 36:40Speaker 2: can bring to him. Telling me, I'm cooked.
- 36:47Speaker 1: I'm cooked.
- 36:49Speaker 2: You were cooked when you got here. In sin did
- 36:51Speaker 2: my mother conceive me. All have sinned and fallen short
- 36:54Speaker 2: of the glory of God. I'm cooked.
- 36:56Speaker 1: What else is new?
- 36:57Speaker 2: He's been cooking this whole time. Have you thought about
- 37:00Speaker 2: the odds that your life would be where it is today?
- 37:03Speaker 2: Have you thought about that lately? Have you thought about
- 37:06Speaker 2: the fact that I'm up here preaching when you know
- 37:09Speaker 2: what our family went through on the other side? Have
- 37:12Speaker 2: you thought about the fact that God would let me
- 37:14Speaker 2: be a preacher? Have you thought about that?
- 37:17Speaker 1: Because he could. Have you thought about the fact that
- 37:24Speaker 1: when I meet people who.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Have been touched by the ministry of this church, they
- 37:29Speaker 2: often say, it was in the year 2020 when I
- 37:36Speaker 2: found your church online. I didn't think we were going
- 37:41Speaker 2: to make it, but you tell the people of Elevation
- 37:45Speaker 2: they got our family through. What's crazy about that is
- 37:50Speaker 2: when they said, you can't have physical church, legally mandated,
- 37:54Speaker 2: no people in the building. That's a bad church growth strategy.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Can we all agree? Can we take a church vote?
- 38:03Speaker 2: How many would say it's a bad strategy to not.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Be able to allow people to attend? Then how did
- 38:07Speaker 1: we grow? Because he cooked. Go ahead. Bring all your
- 38:19Speaker 1: fish in. That's good, Peter. Yeah, bring me some of
- 38:22Speaker 1: your fish.
- 38:23Speaker 2: But I read it over and over because I wanted
- 38:27Speaker 2: to show you this revelation.
- 38:29Speaker 1: So you can get all the stress out of your life.
- 38:32Speaker 2: So you can get all of the shame off of you,
- 38:34Speaker 2: so you can get all of the expectation for your
- 38:37Speaker 2: future on Jesus, so you can remember that he called
- 38:40Speaker 2: you friend, and he taught you to catch those fish,
- 38:44Speaker 2: and he told you where they were.
- 38:45Speaker 4: Come on.
- 38:46Speaker 2: He helped you find that person. He helped you find
- 38:49Speaker 2: that opportunity. He helped you get through that transition. He
- 38:52Speaker 2: helped you with that. I'm not here.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Because of what I caught. I'm here because he cooked.
- 38:58Speaker 2: And even when I bring it to him, he doesn't
- 39:03Speaker 2: need it. Jesus said to them, verse 12, come and
- 39:07Speaker 2: have breakfast. None of the disciples dared ask him, who
- 39:11Speaker 2: are you? They knew it was the Lord.
- 39:13Speaker 1: Why?
- 39:14Speaker 2: Because he's asking them to bring fish for a breakfast
- 39:16Speaker 2: that he's already cooked. He doesn't need it. He just
- 39:19Speaker 2: wants all you have. He calls all of you. That's
- 39:22Speaker 2: all it's going to take, bro, is all of you.
- 39:25Speaker 1: That's all it's going to take, sis, is all of you.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You're not cooked. You just have to come. You have
- 39:31Speaker 2: to come completely. You have to bring all 153 fish.
- 39:35Speaker 2: When you get there, you discover the real miracle of
- 39:38Speaker 2: the text is verse 13. Not Peter caught, but Jesus came,
- 39:46Speaker 2: and he took the bread, and he gave it.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Grace.
- 39:56Speaker 6: It's grace.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Fishing all night, that's effort.
- 40:03Speaker 1: That's good.
- 40:05Speaker 2: But I see you straining, and I'm going to give
- 40:08Speaker 2: you grace, because I've already cooked what you're trying to catch.
- 40:13Speaker 6: You're already accepted. You're already approved. You're already loved. You're
- 40:16Speaker 6: already forgiven. You're already free. You see the difference? Even
- 40:22Speaker 6: when you're cooked, there's usually something that you can do.
- 40:25Speaker 6: But even when you can't, there's something he's already done.
- 40:29Speaker 1: He cooked.
- 40:33Speaker 2: He came and took the bread and gave it to them.
- 40:35Speaker 2: This reminds us of communion, doesn't it? Communion over coals.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Communion over coals.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Something about those coals. He did the same with the fish.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Something about those fish.
- 40:51Speaker 2: 5,000 men plus women plus children. Something about that bread.
- 41:00Speaker 2: This is my body broken for you. But there's something
- 41:03Speaker 2: about those coals. Where have we seen Peter standing over
- 41:08Speaker 2: coals before? Isn't it John 18? Standing in the courtyard
- 41:19Speaker 2: on the night that Jesus was sentenced. The servant girl
- 41:24Speaker 2: came out and asked him, you aren't one of this
- 41:28Speaker 2: man's disciples too, are you?
- 41:31Speaker 1: He replied, I'm not. It was cold. The servants and
- 41:36Speaker 1: officials stood around a fire they had made to keep warm.
- 41:39Speaker 2: Peter also was standing with them, warming himself over the coals.
- 41:44Speaker 2: The word fire, anthrakia in Greek, it means coal fire.
- 41:53Speaker 2: It's only mentioned twice in John's gospel. The first time,
- 41:59Speaker 2: the fire represents Peter's failure. The next time he sees fire,
- 42:05Speaker 2: there's fish on it.
- 42:09Speaker 1: One is his failure.
- 42:11Speaker 2: One is his future. Peter's cooked. Jesus cooked to let
- 42:22Speaker 2: Peter know. I'm not done with you yet. I am
- 42:32Speaker 2: not finished with you yet. You are more than a
- 42:36Speaker 2: failed fisherman. You are more than a dysfunctional disciple. You
- 42:41Speaker 2: are more than an alcoholic. Give me my camera. I'm
- 42:44Speaker 2: prophesying to somebody on this Pando app. You are more
- 42:48Speaker 2: than a convict. You are more than an addict. You
- 42:51Speaker 2: are more than a mess-up. You are not cooked. You
- 42:55Speaker 2: are called. You are chosen. You are drawn. You are his.
- 43:00Speaker 2: You are his friend, and he has got you. So
- 43:08Speaker 2: God says, I want to change how you see this
- 43:11Speaker 2: fire in your mind. I want to change how you
- 43:13Speaker 2: see what you've been going through. I want to change
- 43:15Speaker 2: how you see what you did that you can't undo.
- 43:18Speaker 2: I want you to change the way you've been saying it.
- 43:21Speaker 2: You've been saying, I'm cooked. I can't. I'm cooked. I can't.
- 43:25Speaker 2: I want you to start.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Seeing the fish that are already on the fire. It's
- 43:34Speaker 1: already there.
- 43:37Speaker 2: You mean … We were straining all night with empty nets,
- 43:42Speaker 2: and you were already frying on the shore what we
- 43:45Speaker 2: were hungry for?
- 43:47Speaker 1: Let him cook. Let him have his way in your life.
- 43:53Speaker 1: You say, well, how do.
- 43:54Speaker 2: We know that Jesus gave them the fish he already had?
- 43:59Speaker 2: Because you can't clean.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Fish that quickly.
- 44:03Speaker 2: When Jesus feeds you, it's going to be a clean blessing.
- 44:08Speaker 2: It's going to be a prepared blessing. It's going to
- 44:11Speaker 2: be in his time, and he is going to use
- 44:15Speaker 2: the very thing you did so that when you stand
- 44:19Speaker 2: up like Peter on the day of Pentecost and preach,
- 44:23Speaker 2: you're not up there because you can cook. You're up
- 44:27Speaker 2: there because he can, and he did, and he will.
- 44:34Speaker 2: I don't know who God gave me this message for,
- 44:38Speaker 2: but he's cooking.
- 44:39Speaker 1: He's cooking.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Right now he is mixing ingredients, some bitter, some sweet,
- 44:45Speaker 2: some tasty, some troubling, some that are desirable and some
- 44:50Speaker 2: that seem dysfunctional.
- 44:51Speaker 3: But when he gets through with all of it, when
- 44:54Speaker 3: God does what God does, he says, I know your
- 45:00Speaker 3: heart is breaking and I.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Know your nets are breaking, but come have breakfast. It's
- 45:06Speaker 2: not that I came to him. It's that he came
- 45:10Speaker 2: to me, and he cooked.
- 45:12Speaker 1: So if you need.
- 45:13Speaker 2: To come to him today, you can come. The work
- 45:16Speaker 2: has been done. The blood has been shed. The price
- 45:19Speaker 2: has been paid. The forgiveness has been granted. The cross
- 45:22Speaker 2: is accomplished. The stone has been rolled. The tomb is empty,
- 45:27Speaker 2: and the Savior is here. Stand to your feet. All
- 45:32Speaker 2: over the auditorium, there are men and women who need to.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ today. Here's the bread.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Eat it. Here's the fish. You have a future.
- 45:56Speaker 2: God will not leave you paralyzed in your past.
- 46:01Speaker 1: If you stay there, it will be your decision.
- 46:05Speaker 2: That you did not swim to the shore. He was
- 46:08Speaker 2: already there. It's already there. It's already there. It's not
- 46:14Speaker 2: something you have to conjure. It's not something you have
- 46:16Speaker 2: to catch.
- 46:18Speaker 1: It's something he's already cooked.
- 46:20Speaker 2: You know for your situation in your life exactly what
- 46:25Speaker 2: that is.
- 46:28Speaker 1: I want us to do what Peter did. Move toward Jesus.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Whatever that means for you, if that means giving your
- 46:40Speaker 2: life to him for the first time, I don't know
- 46:43Speaker 2: your situation.
- 46:44Speaker 1: I don't know your failure. I don't know what you've
- 46:46Speaker 1: been saying I'm cooked about, but.
- 46:49Speaker 2: I know a name that is greater than whatever you
- 46:54Speaker 2: can name. I know a name that's greater than shame.
- 46:58Speaker 2: I know a name that's greater than shackles. I know
- 47:02Speaker 2: a name that's greater than bankruptcy. I know a name
- 47:05Speaker 2: that's greater than disease and depression. I know a name
- 47:09Speaker 2: that's greater than generational curses. I know a name. Hey,
