Transcript
- 0:00You have arrived. Welcome to the Aspy world.
- 0:04Here's where we talk about anything and everything ASD in
- 0:07an upbeat and informative way. And now here's your man on the
- 0:11spectrum, your autism ambassador, Daniel Morgan Jones.
- 0:19Guys, what is going on? Oh my goodness, it's so good to
- 0:21be back doing podcasts with people I really already know
- 0:24because it's so much calmer, right?
- 0:26So today my lovely guest is the awesome, the Netflix famous
- 0:31comedian and all around Internet influencer.
- 0:34Because look, Doctor Mike, right?
- 0:36Like you're in pretty much all his videos.
- 0:38So it's Pamela Schuler. I hope I said that right, Right.
- 0:41Yeah, Schuler, like Mueller. Sure.
- 0:43Like Mueller, right? But you didn't get a day off.
- 0:45Like what? What?
- 0:46I need a day off and. Well, we all did a day off.
- 0:48Yeah, You're going to go to Mike's house and like, move in,
- 0:51right? That's a good day off.
- 0:54So if anybody doesn't know right, what the hell we're
- 0:56talking about is Pamela and I, we met, oh God, about five years
- 1:01ago, 2019, Oh my goodness, four years ago and five years ago for
- 1:06what was it called? Link 20.
- 1:08What was this thing called? It was at MIT, but I wonder
- 1:11that. Yeah, just do.
- 1:12Just do. That sounds way better.
- 1:13Yeah, we were. Yeah.
- 1:14We went to every tea together When?
- 1:16I say, you know, we're alumni. You know what I mean?
- 1:17Well, we're some kind of alumni. It might take.
- 1:19Anyway, we had an MIT. We literally had no idea what
- 1:21we're doing for like 10 days and we goofed about and then we got
- 1:25some kind of weird qualification of it was great.
- 1:27And we had a load of free food. The food was great.
- 1:30Something makes me happier than an open like drink bar with
- 1:33coffees and seltzers and sodas. And that's like the unlimited
- 1:38beverages is my thing. The hype was.
- 1:42Great. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, of
- 1:44course. And, and they, I think what,
- 1:46what else did we do? We went on like a couple of
- 1:47fields we went to like the the Google place, right?
- 1:50We went to the Google. They gave us, they gave us food.
- 1:53It was, it was great. I think the coolest part was the
- 1:55people we met. That was it for me because I'm
- 1:57still friends with so many of the the crew from there.
- 2:00Yeah, exactly. Like especially Ben, do you
- 2:02remember Benj, is it Shepherd, the guy who was running the, he
- 2:05was the MIT guy from ESPN. He's the social media VSPN.
- 2:09Well, anyway, he he was one of the lecturers.
- 2:12He was the main guy. Come on, Papa.
- 2:14Yes, yeah. So I like I I talked to him
- 2:17pretty. He he quoted on my book, right.
- 2:19The guy's a ledge. I love the guy because he's just
- 2:21as much as social media did as me.
- 2:23So I was like, oh, man, he's a good guy.
- 2:24And they're also trouble. We management for.
- 2:27Yeah, Yeah. So quite George really funny.
- 2:29Me and Alex, Alex Waldrich and James Rath.
- 2:32We were in LA doing vidcom and we would get, we were in this
- 2:35like crazy, like celebrity party and Jay Shetty and, and, you
- 2:41know, Courtney were there. She was like, dude was like,
- 2:43holy shit. Like we're all like, like, wait,
- 2:45what's going on? Like, and it was just great
- 2:47because we just like, it was just great.
- 2:49It was like an impromptu MIT meet up.
- 2:52Anyway, it was so good. And yeah, and yeah, it's just so
- 2:56much. And I think so many of of the
- 2:58alumni from there are in LA now. So this time I'm going back.
- 3:00It's going to, it's going to be sick.
- 3:03Emily Ledoux's in New York. We've we've got a good mix, but
- 3:08yeah. That's right.
- 3:10His little, his not a little. It was cool.
- 3:11He did ATV like a series docu series that I was a part of.
- 3:17I've seen it touched a bunch of the people.
- 3:19Yeah, I think we did have a group chat at one point, but I,
- 3:21I think I, I don't know if I still have that on my phone, but
- 3:24anyway. But like, you know, most of the
- 3:26people, I think we follow each other on socials and it's like
- 3:28just dead cool to keep up with because it's like at least we're
- 3:30all doing crazy shit. So that's the background of me.
- 3:33How many of them know each other?
- 3:34And we rowed on a on a big kind of like canoe thing, right?
- 3:38The we end up. Rowing.
- 3:42Yeah, we have to row. Just like a not the best idea to
- 3:45put all of us with different disabilities in a rowboat.
- 3:48And I never left. I don't I think I laughed so
- 3:50hard I was crying like I have rest.
- 3:54I'm 4 foot 6 1/2 between all of us.
- 3:56Like we had James, who's blind, who was like, don't guys?
- 4:00I'll hear Angel has one. We're like, it's like, OK, Angel
- 4:05has like a robotic arm. Like which side are we going on?
- 4:08Like, and she had that whole thing.
- 4:10She had that like the ring thing.
- 4:11I was like, dude, like she just kicked ass.
- 4:13I was like sweating. She was like not even breaking a
- 4:15sweat. I was.
- 4:16Like, oh, I love doing it, but a little too short for it and it
- 4:19kept knocking me backwards. But again, we like we leaned
- 4:24into how funny it was. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:28I don't. I don't think I've ever laughed
- 4:29as hard as that night on that. It was like because we had a BBQ
- 4:33at the end of it, right? You what?
- 4:35We had a BBQ at the end of it, remember?
- 4:38Like there was a BBQ we had little sweet.
- 4:39Tell you what, nobody told us how heavy those boats would be.
- 4:43We had to carry them ourselves. Oh, I didn't help.
- 4:47Oh, Princess Flipping Hamlet Anyway, but yes, so Pamela, I
- 4:53invited Pamela onto the show because not only is she like
- 4:55super funny and brilliant and beautiful, Pamela also has
- 4:59Tourest syndrome, which he she spoke about, which is one of the
- 5:01most interesting conditions. And Pamela.
- 5:03But my first question right is, is, is Tourette A neurological
- 5:06condition? Like, well, yeah, is that what's
- 5:09classed as right neurological? Neurological disorder and it
- 5:11means that that people do movements and noises that are
- 5:14uncontrollable, that we call tics TICS, not TICKS.
- 5:18Those are bugs, but I don't threats.
- 5:21We all. It all looks different for all
- 5:23of us. So not everyone yells bad words,
- 5:26which is what like South Park likes you to think.
- 5:28I've never got five people with threats.
- 5:29Only one has an additional diagnosis of yelling words or
- 5:32phrases. But all of us do uncontrollable
- 5:35and repetitive movements and noises.
- 5:37I have done that before. Oh man, that's interesting you
- 5:41you said repetitive movements and noises.
- 5:44So with autism, right? I have, so I have ticks, I have
- 5:48to actually medication helps. The medication I'm on actually
- 5:51helps reduce the amount of ticks because my tics are kind of like
- 5:53nervous, I forget like super, super nervous.
- 5:56And what's really interesting is that autistic individuals will
- 6:00do things repetitively a lot of the time.
- 6:03So I have like a lot of repetitive things that I do and,
- 6:07and that's really interesting. Do you think there's like a a
- 6:09crossover there between those types of behaviors and like
- 6:12neurodevelopmental issues and autism?
- 6:14I do, I have a number of friends who are autistic and we get to
- 6:18compare and contrast and there's a bunch of things that we both
- 6:21do. It just feels like it comes from
- 6:22different reasons, if that makes sense.
- 6:25Like Tourette's lives in a different part of the brain.
- 6:29So Tourette's is more closely related to Parkinson's than
- 6:34other things, at least for my reading.
- 6:36But I'm not a doctor, so who really knows?
- 6:39Get my comma phone. Ask him quick.
- 6:42Questions for me all the time. I've doctor friends who
- 6:45regularly receive pictures that I find on the Internet.
- 6:48I'm just like, diagnosed it. So definitely overlap.
- 6:54But I also, a lot of people with Tourettes have an, it's an
- 6:58umbrella disorder, so we have other things.
- 7:00So like I also have obsessive compulsive disorder.
- 7:02There's a lot of overlap there, yeah.
- 7:06Dude, that's like super interesting because like so
- 7:08within autism you have all of these like the you have these Co
- 7:14morbid Co occurring conditions, right?
- 7:16And it kind of like you never really just no, no one ever goes
- 7:19like hey, so you're only got some spectrum and that's it.
- 7:21That's not the only badger carry, kind of like with the
- 7:24treads in right. But really interesting.
- 7:27You know, somebody asked me the other day, they said and I did
- 7:30it. I think I did it on a TikTok in
- 7:31a reply, somebody said, what is the worst like issue?
- 7:34Like, you know, of all the issue you have, what's the worst
- 7:36thing? What is it?
- 7:36Something relates also blah, blah, blah.
- 7:37I said by far the worst thing is having OCD because especially if
- 7:41you're an autistic person, right, just from my and then I'm
- 7:43going to ask, I'm going to get into this right now.
- 7:44The reason I'm saying this, but there's you have OCD is
- 7:48something that you have to do because you believe that if you
- 7:51don't do it, something excessively terrible is going to
- 7:53happen. You have this catastrophic
- 7:53fantasy, right? And with autism and repetitive
- 7:57behaviour or autistic OCD, you do things in a repetitive way
- 8:00because you get enjoyment from those things like the Mario
- 8:02Kondo thing, right? You do the things you get
- 8:03enjoyment on them. You feel spark.
- 8:04But I despise, I actually never use this word.
- 8:06So apologies for it. I hate, that's the word I never
- 8:09use. I hate OCD with a passion.
- 8:12Like it's, it's like a it's like a vine that grows in your head.
- 8:14It's like a disease. It's horrible.
- 8:17And it's the most debilitating part of my conditions of all of
- 8:19them. It is so, so talk to me about
- 8:21OCD. What's your OCD like?
- 8:23What's your experience with it? If you're OK, if you're
- 8:24comfortable to talk about. Oh.
- 8:26I'm an open book, so I like to say that at any given time, one
- 8:29of the two is in the driver's seat.
- 8:31Either Tourette's is in the driver's seat or OCD is in the
- 8:33driver's seat, and sometimes they work together.
- 8:36I have plenty of jokes about how they're back.
- 8:38Twins. Yeah.
- 8:38Oh my. Gosh, or like, or sometimes it
- 8:40works in my favorite, one of my favorite stories is I was coming
- 8:43back from a show alone at New York Penn Station at 3:00 in the
- 8:46morning and you don't want to make eye contact with anyone at
- 8:48any o'clock in the day at New York Penn Station.
- 8:51And I accidentally made eye contact with the gentleman.
- 8:53And because I have Tourette's, I winked at him and he like
- 8:56started walking towards me and then he kicked in and I winked
- 8:59at him 44 more times and he like turned around and walked away
- 9:03and I was like, Oh my God. OCD for the assessed.
- 9:06I was going to say, yeah, they just won, yeah.
- 9:09He was like, even that's too weird for me and he pieced out,
- 9:12which I appreciate. But IOCD, when it's bad, it is a
- 9:17struggle. And I have a great team of
- 9:20people in my world to help manage it.
- 9:22I've got, you know, great psychiatrists, psychologists,
- 9:25neurologists, all the yet all of them.
- 9:27Ologists. Yeah.
- 9:29Right, I pull in help when I need it.
- 9:31That's really interesting. How do you how do you find like
- 9:34cuz on a day-to-day basis, the OOCD like I, I try my best.
- 9:41I'm working with a therapist right now and it's amazing.
- 9:43She's got ADHD. Our sessions are just absolutely
- 9:45off the chance. But like because AHD annexing
- 9:48right? About OCD but you end painting a
- 9:50ceiling. Yeah, dude, we, we were both in
- 9:52a different country by the end of the conversation, right?
- 9:54But yeah, yeah. And it was like, what the fuck?
- 9:56Honestly, the amount of like digression in those sessions,
- 9:59honestly, we, we booked it. It's supposed to be like 1/2 an
- 10:01hour session, but they end up being like an hour and a half
- 10:03because of all the bullshit. We'd anyway, she's a lovely
- 10:06woman, but she's ADC. It's amazing.
- 10:08So, well, she's so she's working with at the moment.
- 10:11So I kind of how come it was some of the big ones I have and
- 10:13like, some of the big ones I have are like are like the
- 10:19specific, this is the worst one, right?
- 10:20I got to say the worst one. So, and it happened from trauma,
- 10:23right? I remember I was taking a shower
- 10:25when I in the first apt I was in, I was taking a shower in the
- 10:28apartment. I had music blasting because
- 10:29like, you know, when you're living alone, you're like, yeah.
- 10:31So I had music playing. I was in the shower.
- 10:32And then I got, I come out of the shower and it's like
- 10:33everything's great. And then I, I make myself like
- 10:36a, a sausage sandwich, you know, very British.
- 10:39And then I get this like, yeah, it's amazing.
- 10:42And then I get this, I get this like phone call from my
- 10:46girlfriend's mother saying unfortunately her father had
- 10:48just dropped dead. And I was like, oh, shoot.
- 10:51So I was like, damn. Anyway, So then every time I
- 10:54went to go for a shower after this, I can't listen to music.
- 10:57Right. But then what happens with the
- 10:59OCD is that it it's not only I can't listen to music, I Can't
- 11:02Sing in the shower and I can't listen to music in my head with
- 11:04OCD Mate an awesome. I'm just like there's always a
- 11:08song in my head, right? So I'm like, I'm scared to go to
- 11:11the shower. It's like holy, not like I
- 11:12shower every single day, but I'm just saying going to the shower
- 11:15comes to task. So to me like that how to build
- 11:19taken. Would that be right?
- 11:19If you think I can't even shower after having a run because I'm
- 11:23scared that it's going to kill my family members right?
- 11:24Like and it sounds crazy you say out loud.
- 11:27And you're like, that's not just someone else with those CG.
- 11:30Yeah, exactly right. I'm like the idea.
- 11:33You know what? I mean, like it sounds when you
- 11:35say it to yourself, you're like, I mean, say, but you're not
- 11:39right? You're just, you're battling
- 11:40with this, like this, this, I don't know, It's like a power
- 11:42struggle, right? When I was a kid, OCD.
- 11:46So when when I was a kid I had a very severe case of tourettes.
- 11:49I still have a severe case but it's less noticeable to everyone
- 11:52else at this point. I feel it constantly, often
- 11:55hurts but it's not as noticeable as a kid.
- 11:57Like broke my neck from throwing my head back.
- 11:59Was out of school for years and OCD was just as bad and as a
- 12:03like in middle school I used to set an alarm clock for every
- 12:05hour in the night as a kid to smell the carpet to see if there
- 12:10was a fire. I used to wake up in the middle
- 12:12of the night and walk around my whole house and check every door
- 12:15knob to see if there was a fire. I had a real fear of axe
- 12:18murders. I don't even know the way to
- 12:21murder people anymore, but I had it and it wasn't.
- 12:24Murder if you're a fireman. I was like, specifically axe
- 12:28murders. And so like every night I would
- 12:31open my doors and yell, I see you.
- 12:34I'm calling the police because I believed that if there was an
- 12:38axe murderer who heard me say that, they'd be like, this would
- 12:40be scaffolding. One saw me.
- 12:42I got to go. I got to not do a murder.
- 12:44Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it.
- 12:47It makes so much sense. But you know what's crazy?
- 12:49Like it, it's scary how I totally get out.
- 12:53I'm like, yeah, yeah, dude, like I'm with you all the way because
- 12:56like, it makes sense. Like I'm like, yeah, bad.
- 12:58You stay away. I'll come and shout down the
- 13:01hallway. You know, one of the ones that I
- 13:03think it's OK when you're in like your home, right?
- 13:06Like going in and out of the shower and doing all this stuff.
- 13:08But like one of the worst ones is I like to run 5 kilometers or
- 13:116 kilometers. Otherwise in miles, like 3-4
- 13:13miles, I don't know. And when I'm running, when I
- 13:17come off the sidewalk onto the road and then back on, I have to
- 13:20use like left right foot first and left foot back on.
- 13:23But some sort of mess this up. Yeah.
- 13:26But then he like, and then I have to go back to the start and
- 13:28then I go, well, how far back do I go?
- 13:30And then I'm like, honestly, dude, like so a 20 minute run
- 13:33could take a couple of hours easy.
- 13:35And I'm like, and people look at you like, what is this guy
- 13:38doing? You know, all these people like,
- 13:40I don't know. Mr. Jones is walking his dog.
- 13:42He's like, what are you doing, man?
- 13:44I'm like, yeah. And you panic because you feel
- 13:47like you look like an idiot, right?
- 13:49And so I think being and, you know, having public, having
- 13:53issues that you have when you're out in public, you can't control
- 13:56and you'll know exactly. You know, it's probably the most
- 13:59like, you die a little bit inside, don't you?
- 14:03Yeah, I just did a keynote about how what I sometimes bark from
- 14:07Tourette's and how barking taught me everything I need to
- 14:11know about fear. Because it was so scary to just
- 14:13be in public for so many years with the fear of barking or
- 14:17barking in public, and how that changed my perception of the
- 14:20world. And now I've leaned into it.
- 14:22If I'm going to bark, I'm going to bark.
- 14:25But it was like a whole journey of kind of embracing the fear
- 14:28around just being myself. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:31And you got you got to just kind of go, I always call it the John
- 14:35Tucker theory, right? Have you seen John Tucker Must
- 14:38die that movie? OK, so if there's a part of the
- 14:41movie where this the girl this because he's sleeping with all
- 14:43those girls, right? And they're all trying to get
- 14:45all back. And he's a nice looking dude and
- 14:47but he's a bit of a jock, right? Or he's a typical Chad.
- 14:49So they're like, oh, we're going to get rid of all his underwear
- 14:51and replace it with girl phones, right?
- 14:53Like, you know, really tight panties.
- 14:55And so he goes the only thing. So he's wearing these panties
- 14:58and he goes to basketball practice and all the dudes are
- 15:00like, yeah, And there are all the dudes like, dude, like, why?
- 15:02They're really weird panties. They're trying to embarrass him.
- 15:04And then he's like, dude, these have given me so much more
- 15:07freedom to play basketball. Like, you need to get yourself
- 15:09there. And then all the dudes just
- 15:10like, OK, well, this guy makes sense.
- 15:11You have to own it. You have to embrace it.
- 15:13It's called the John Tucker syndrome.
- 15:14That's what I call it anyway. And you have to write.
- 15:16That's the only way to deal with it, Right.
- 15:19OK, so two things. A second question, but something
- 15:23really interesting. I back in my sleep also, which
- 15:25is really interesting. And I, I don't even know why.
- 15:28Like I've always. Done.
- 15:29I love that if we first of all can we hanging out we somehow
- 15:36are like mirrored but the same. Like like, you know, it's funny
- 15:41like like ex girlfriends, like you were barking and you sleep.
- 15:44I'm like, oh, weird. It's like, I swear I'm not a
- 15:46werewolf. Like, I swear.
- 15:48Like, was it? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 15:50Like, yeah. So you like it?
- 15:52You. Know at my show yesterday,
- 15:54nobody sat in the front row, which is so normal.
- 15:57And I'm not like I'm I do typical stand up, but this was
- 15:59like comedy and storytelling about inclusion and mental
- 16:01health, which is really how I make living at this point.
- 16:03I do companies and schools and everything, but nobody in the
- 16:06front row. And without even thinking about
- 16:08it, I said I bark, but I don't bite.
- 16:13Did like I I bet their reaction was a bit like like.
- 16:18A number of confusions. Before so I OK, but anyway,
- 16:23yeah, they they were scared of you like jumping down to the
- 16:25stage and just singing a Chuck down on the knee.
- 16:28Russian. I'm not going to bark and then
- 16:29bite you. Although here's the deal.
- 16:31Yeah, it depends how tester. You look right, right.
- 16:34Yeah, it. Depends.
- 16:36Don't piss me off, but it's it's funny, like the barking thing,
- 16:40like and then so I just kind of like adopted it something I do.
- 16:43And so like, especially when like when like my current
- 16:45girlfriend was like, yeah, you're back in your sleep.
- 16:48And I'm like, yeah. What the heck?
- 16:50I'm like, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it thumbs up.
- 16:54The Love Hot 1's pretty cool, right?
- 16:55It's like, can you do it? Amazing.
- 17:05That was so cool. OK.
- 17:07So like my question is how does Tourette's impact your life
- 17:14performances or if at all? It does and it's kind of
- 17:19different. So one of the things with
- 17:20Tourette's is it's constantly, for me at least, shifting and
- 17:23evolving. So I might have one tick for a
- 17:25week or a month and then it changes.
- 17:28And so little things like I request a hands free microphone
- 17:30if my set is longer than 10 minutes because my hands tick
- 17:34more than any other part of my body.
- 17:35They're constantly I, I haven't held a pen or pencil in 25
- 17:38years, so I'll often hold a mic in the Crest of my hand or like
- 17:42in this Crest of my arm if they don't have one for me.
- 17:45Sometimes stress effects my breathing because it right like
- 17:49the way I talk and breathe. And so I when that's a tick
- 17:52that's happening, I will get dizzy mid state, like mid show.
- 17:56If I'm doing, I do like an hour 15.
- 17:58So you know, 40. No one wants to hear me talk
- 18:02that long, truly. Would it be yourself up?
- 18:05My family will constantly be like, we don't understand why
- 18:08people pay you to talk. We have to listen to it.
- 18:09And I was like exactly. I get the same argument.
- 18:13Honestly. Tell me about.
- 18:15It so it's like kind of it's always shifting sometimes.
- 18:20Well, I always wear like good flat shoes on stage because
- 18:22otherwise I will weeble wobble and I will fall down.
- 18:27But it's always shifting and I kind of have to like, look at
- 18:29what shows are that week and what Tourette's is doing and
- 18:32come up with a game plan. Geez.
- 18:34So, so you have, you have to evolve with it, right?
- 18:36Like it's a, it's a yeah, yeah. That's why I think I'm so
- 18:39innovative and creative because I'm doing it just to live in my
- 18:41own world and then I my career too.
- 18:45Dude, that's so clever. Like I, I think you know, like
- 18:49like I don't have like none of my ticks present themselves.
- 18:51Like I've never been on stage on how to tick right.
- 18:53But like, and I guess like the ticks that come with are very
- 18:56like few and far between. And it's kind of rare, right?
- 19:00But when you're dealing with it on a daily basis, like you must
- 19:02be able to just think like, OK, what's what I'm gonna do to
- 19:04overcome this? Or I'm gonna So you make your
- 19:06own systems, right? Yeah, and I tick, you might not
- 19:09see it a ton on zip. I'm ticking at least every
- 19:11second. I mean, it's it is something
- 19:13that my body is ticking constantly.
- 19:17And so yeah, I have to like kind of name it, be honest with it
- 19:21and then come up with a game plan.
- 19:23But I like, yeah, that's a lot. And it's hard.
- 19:26And it's like sometimes my body really hurts or is tired or even
- 19:30in pain, which I just said hurts.
- 19:31So twice I said that. But sometimes I have to, like,
- 19:35get really a lot. I get creative, but that
- 19:37translates into my world. And like, I have a whole living
- 19:41now as a creative human because I think I would kind of meet the
- 19:45world where it is, just like I have to meet myself where it is.
- 19:47Does that make sense? Yeah, 100% because it's.
- 19:49Like a thing, but. Rather rather than missing
- 19:52another emotional life each go. Well, look, these are the caps
- 19:54I'm dealt. This is my life.
- 19:55This is who I am, right? I'm gonna do it because like me,
- 19:57I count. I'm sorry.
- 19:58Go ahead. No, no, please.
- 20:00That's I have a masters in advocacy and what I work with
- 20:03communities I like, I'll often do a show and then workshops.
- 20:05So with companies, I'll do training and, and, or like
- 20:08summer camps, I'll work with summer camp staff.
- 20:09And a lot of what I talk about is how we can use creativity to
- 20:12meet people where they are because every single person is
- 20:15so incredibly different. And so creativity is about
- 20:17trying two or three things. And if it doesn't work, trying
- 20:20three more until we can set that person up for success, which is
- 20:23what I. You like split testing the, the,
- 20:28the, the hands, right? I think it's, I think it's
- 20:34really interesting because like, you know, a lot of people will
- 20:36like, and I have this thing I say like, you know, God has put
- 20:40you on this for a reason, right? You're here for a reason, right?
- 20:42And you have a thing to follow through with, right?
- 20:44You have a plan. And so life is happening for
- 20:47you. It's not happening to you.
- 20:48And you know, there's a reason why that, you know, you have
- 20:51text. There's reason why my brain is a
- 20:52bit messed up sometimes because we're supposed to learn from
- 20:55this, right? Because like in school you learn
- 20:56and then you take a test, but God gives you a test and then
- 20:58you learn, right? Like that's how I view the
- 21:00universe, right? And I'm like, Oh, damn.
- 21:02So I always think to myself, like, you can never really be
- 21:04yourself up too much and be like, oh, you know, I feel like
- 21:07I just go, OK, what are the cards I've got?
- 21:09You know, like, let's go play Uno, man, have I got a reverse
- 21:12card today? You don't, you don't know.
- 21:13I'm like, I like. That.
- 21:15Yeah, it's, it's, it's kind of like it's the it's the thing
- 21:17that keeps me going, right? It's having faith in that.
- 21:19And when people say faith, I think that's what they truly
- 21:21mean. It's like knowing that there's a
- 21:22bigger purpose to you, right? And I think that's a really cool
- 21:25thing to remember. But yeah.
- 21:27And that for everything that makes life harder, it also adds
- 21:29something to my world when I allow it to.
- 21:31Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like it, it can.
- 21:35Yeah. Because you said, oh, it's
- 21:36evolving, it's changing. It's it's dynamic.
- 21:37Like there's so many things and, and people learn from you from
- 21:40doing it. Maybe that's the point, you
- 21:41know, who knows? But I think not like not beating
- 21:45yourself up about the things that you believe or you perceive
- 21:48them could potentially be detrimental to an average
- 21:51person, Right. But who the Hell's average?
- 21:52You know what I mean? Like average is boring anyway.
- 21:54I'd rather be extraordinary. Matter of how much you hide it.
- 21:58Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody's weird.
- 22:00Are they axe murderers everywhere?
- 22:01You know I'm joking. I'm.
- 22:02Joking a lot of believes they aren't weird.
- 22:03Oh that scares me. What are you hiding?
- 22:07Yeah, yeah, I'm totally normal. Get him out.
- 22:10Like, yeah, yeah. It's not true that that guy
- 22:14would own an axe. Like that's where it comes from.
- 22:16Right, that's the axe murderer. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:20It's the finance. Yeah, yeah, Carl from Finance
- 22:23like quick get security on the Quad.
- 22:28What? Take it back.
- 22:29All right, Yeah, I don't know John from finals.
- 22:33There you go. Here we go.
- 22:34That ones like everyone's a John.
- 22:36Literally John. Peterson from finals.
- 22:41He's got a fishing boat. He goes on the weekends down the
- 22:43Hudson. Yeah, exactly.
- 22:46It's where he disposes the bodies of my gums.
- 22:47But instead snap, I'm joking the Mr. Beaumont now Anyway, the I
- 22:52totally got on the tangent about bullshit.
- 22:54Pamela, the question that every the world has an ellipse of the
- 22:57case. Second question.
- 22:57First question. Everyone was like, why are you
- 22:59so short? I'm joking.
- 23:00The second I'm joking, I'm joking I.
- 23:03Made her child just asked me that.
- 23:05The one next door she goes, why are you so short?
- 23:06And I said I forgot to grow. No, she actually asked you.
- 23:09So people asked me that I was only.
- 23:10Joking just mean questions. Yeah, it sounds like somebody
- 23:14needs to put some spicy candy through the door.
- 23:16You know what I'm saying? Like die, you need to purchase
- 23:20an axe. And I'm joking.
- 23:21I'm joking, by the way. I'm not condoning murder or
- 23:23anything like that. Anyway, I'm on it, man.
- 23:26You know, the question is, did you find a date on Netflix?
- 23:32So for those who don't know, I was on Netflix's Jewish
- 23:36Matchmaking. I did not audition to be on a
- 23:39Netflix reality dating show. The matchmaker and someone else
- 23:43from the team saw me performing in LA years ago and asked me to
- 23:46do this. And I went out on a date with a
- 23:49gentleman named Stuart. And I did not find love, but I
- 23:53found a a friendship and a good time and I learned a lot about
- 23:56myself. Oh, that sounds like one of
- 23:59those. Idiots and I found pride in
- 24:01dating with a disability on Netflix on a show that wasn't
- 24:03about just dating people with the same disability.
- 24:06Interesting, Yeah, because there's AI know a few people who
- 24:08are on a show called Love on the Spectrum.
- 24:12And and that's yeah, we've got a lot to say and I would only get
- 24:15that, but. Yeah, but but that's just people
- 24:17on the spectrum, right? Which is kind of like, to me,
- 24:19it's like chicken, chicken fights, right?
- 24:20You just put chickens in the cage and you're gonna fight.
- 24:22You've been to the same disability, you know, like why
- 24:25did? Why is the broader view here?
- 24:26You know, and no offense, I love each and everyone of you guys,
- 24:28but you know. Also like just because I'm
- 24:31tourettes doesn't mean I only date and also probably shouldn't
- 24:35date someone with tourettes because we.
- 24:37Banging heads, yeah. Yeah, I'm it's true.
- 24:41So many jokes about I dated like I was sort of a palsy and gosh,
- 24:44we like both broke our noses the first time we tried to care.
- 24:49That's sick. I'm sorry everybody.
- 24:52No, I'm joking. This is probably she's amazing.
- 24:53You have to check out her social.
- 24:55How? How can people find you online?
- 24:56Like where do you? Where can people find your
- 24:58content? Great question.
- 25:00They can find me stalking you because I love everything you
- 25:02can do. But they can also find me at
- 25:06Pamela. Comedy is my Instagram and

- 25:16anybody on the other socials I will link her handles down
- 25:18below. You just follow through just.
- 25:21Handle the comedy, but truly, I don't remember right now.
- 25:25I don't know, the last video I saw where you on YouTube was you
- 25:27would do some of the document taste testing something I think
- 25:30or you would, I don't know. You do knock a challenge with
- 25:32Mike and I was like, are these two good?
- 25:33There was never yes, we were the Vitamix one.
- 25:36We were he. I had one he mentioned in what
- 25:38was store bought. Yeah, that was it.
- 25:40That was it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:41And it was really interesting. But yeah, Mike, what a hell of a
- 25:44guy. Anyway, so you got any plans to
- 25:46do any more stuff with Netflix or is that just like a one off
- 25:49thing? Stay tuned.
- 25:53I love it. I love it, man.
- 25:54The tea is real, man. I love it.
- 25:57OK, well, look, if you fancy coming to LA for a couple of
- 26:00days, I'm there in June. In June, The end of June for
- 26:02Vidcon. I'm talking of Vidcon.

- 26:04Me and Alex will be there, and I think I'm going to hang out with
- 26:07Angel. And maybe I can't remember his
- 26:14name now. Why don't remember his name?
- 26:16Our friend who's blind. James Ross.
- 26:18James Ross. What the fuck?
- 26:19Sorry, James, You're listening. If I don't go to this, will you
- 26:22all just still send me videos of you having fun without me so I
- 26:25can pretend like I was there? Sure, naked selfies.
- 26:27Are they cool? Yeah, exactly what I wanted.
- 26:30Yeah, I'll put them. There you go.
- 26:31I would like videos, please. It's Vidcon.
- 26:33Thank you. And it's true.
- 26:34It's true. We can get.
- 26:35Yeah, we're gonna have high production value as well, right?
- 26:37Because, like, it's videographer galore.
- 26:39So yeah, we'll get something somewhere, you know, what's our
- 26:41room, you know, really, CD, you know, but high production cost.
- 26:44Thank you so much. Of course.
- 26:48Oh my gosh, we're going to get the tanning business and
- 26:50everything. It'll be so good.
- 26:51You know, be like check out James Rath like you've never
- 26:54seen him before, you know, nor is he now.
- 26:56I'm joking, James, I love you. It's so funny.
- 26:58He he got Apple vision pro and Alex was like dude, you can't
- 27:02even see like what are you doing?
- 27:04It's like. He's brilliant though.
- 27:08James is amazing. Everyone there was so much
- 27:11cooler than I'll ever be, and I think that was my favorite part
- 27:13of it. No, dude, I swear.
- 27:15Do you know what I think two things.
- 27:17I had two observations from from my MIT drip.
- 27:19The first one was that everybody was hot balloons, balloons, man.
- 27:23The first one, everybody was hot, right?
- 27:24We were all good looking dudes and chicks and like it was a
- 27:27good looking team. And I thought, hey, they
- 27:29selected us on purpose to be nice looking, right?
- 27:32It's true. Come on, like think about it,
- 27:34right. And then and then the second
- 27:35thing was that everyone was cool as fuck.
- 27:38Like nobody was there was nobody inferior or superior.
- 27:41We were all like, like ahead of a game, you know, I was like.
- 27:44Yeah, those things were a good time.
- 27:45I it that was like a really fun chunk of time in in our lives.
- 27:49Yeah. Like, yeah, I, I love it.
- 27:52And like, I think I'll always like, I always carry because I'm
- 27:55always like, oh, you know, sometimes I think to myself,
- 27:57like, am I doing the right thing?
- 27:58Is my, is my work, you know, working?
- 28:00Am I helping people improve their lives?
- 28:02And I'm thinking back to that time when we were there and then
- 28:03and MIT, they were like, you're all here because you do
- 28:05something impactful to people, right?
- 28:06And I'm like, oh shit. Because we went through a crazy
- 28:08intense interview process, remember?
- 28:10Yeah, because it was a free program at MIT.
- 28:12If you got in, it was it was the pilot year.
- 28:14So they paid for travel, hotel, meals, everything.
- 28:17Awesome. Dude the scholarship alone was
- 28:19like 80 grand, do you know that? No.
- 28:21Wow, that's bonkers. Like, that's great.
- 28:24Serious. But like, yeah, the Ruderman
- 28:26Foundation are amazing. Like Jane Ruderman.
- 28:28Like, I still have him on, like, Twitter.
- 28:30And I'm like, what a guy. What a guy.
- 28:33And his wife was hot as hell. Well, what was her name?
- 28:37I can't remember her name now. Missus Ruderman.
- 28:40I miss this ruder bed now I don't.
- 28:43I don't remember offhand and I feel bad now.
- 28:46Oh, I'm going to feel bad when this comes out.
- 28:47But she's lovely. I've met her more than I've met
- 28:49then. She is amazing, like what a
- 28:52woman and like just this powerhouse, you know, it's like
- 28:55really like beautiful. That woman comes in like, yeah,
- 28:56you know, we're going to do this program.
- 28:58MOT. I'm like, oh, dude, I felt
- 28:59inferior that I was like, yeah, who is this person?
- 29:02But it was great. It was a great time and very
- 29:04blessed to have had that experience and to share that
- 29:06time with you guys. You know, like it was great.
- 29:08You know what a good bunch of people.
- 29:10I think we'll be in each other's lives forever, which is kind of
- 29:12nice to meet forever people. Something like that, yeah.
- 29:15That do not that that is it. That's for me.
- 29:18That's life. OK, so I'm going to fly to New
- 29:20York at one point in the next couple of months.
- 29:22So I'm going to I'll I'll text you and just tell you when I'm
- 29:25going to be in that part of the world of North America and
- 29:28everything. Hang out.
- 29:29Pamela. Thank you.
