- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackett.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Is time right now for today's words. Celebrate the progress.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Celebrate the progress. Genesis one three and four says, and
- 0:14Speaker 1: God said, let there be light, and there was like
- 0:17Speaker 1: God saw that the light was good. You know, one
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the most overlooked spiritual disciplines is learning how to
- 0:24Speaker 1: recognize the good that God is doing in our lives.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Too often we're experts on spotting our failures, weaknesses, and shortcomings,
- 0:33Speaker 1: but we're slow to acknowledge our growth, our progress, and
- 0:36Speaker 1: our victories. When God created the heavens and the earth,
- 0:40Speaker 1: something remarkable happened. At the end of each stage of creation.
- 0:44Speaker 1: He paused and observed his work. He recognized the beauty,
- 0:48Speaker 1: the purpose, and the excellence of what he had done.
- 0:51Speaker 1: The scripture says God saw that it was good. Think
- 0:55Speaker 1: about that, the creator of the universe stopped and celebrated
- 1:00Speaker 1: what had been accomplished. God wasn't arrogant, he wasn't boasting.
- 1:03Speaker 1: He was demonstrating the importance of acknowledging what is good.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Many of us would benefit from learning that lesson. Instead
- 1:10Speaker 1: of celebrating progress, we criticize ourselves for not being further alone.
- 1:14Speaker 1: We focus on what we didn't accomplish instead of what
- 1:17Speaker 1: we did accomplish. We dwell on our mistakes instead of
- 1:20Speaker 1: appreciating how far God has already brought us. We tell
- 1:23Speaker 1: ourselves things like it should I should be doing so
- 1:26Speaker 1: much better, I'm not where I want to be, I'm
- 1:29Speaker 1: messed up again, I'm not good enough. And see the
- 1:32Speaker 1: problem in that is that when we constantly focus on
- 1:38Speaker 1: what's wrong, we become discouraged and lose sight of God's
- 1:41Speaker 1: grace at work in our lives. Yes, there is always
- 1:44Speaker 1: room to go. Yes there are areas where God is
- 1:47Speaker 1: still shaping and refining us. But don't become so focused
- 1:51Speaker 1: on perfection that you fail to celebrate progress. Maybe you
- 1:55Speaker 1: haven't reached your goal yet, but you're further along than
- 1:58Speaker 1: you were a year ago. Right. Maybe you're not completely
- 2:03Speaker 1: free from a struggle, but you're stronger than you used
- 2:05Speaker 1: to be. Maybe you're still believing for a breakthrough, but
- 2:08Speaker 1: you remain faithful through difficult seas, And see that's worthy
- 2:12Speaker 1: of celebrating. God isn't asking you to ignore your weaknesses.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He's asking you not to be defined by them. Remember,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you are God's workmanship. You are his creation. He formed
- 2:25Speaker 1: you with purpose, gifts, and with abilities, and filled you
- 2:29Speaker 1: with potential. The same God who created the stars and
- 2:32Speaker 1: the oceans created you. When you're constantly tearing yourself down,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you're criticizing something God creative. So today give yourself some grace.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Thank God for the progress you may, Thank him for
- 2:45Speaker 1: the strength he's given, thanking for the battles you've overcome,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and the growth that's taken place even now. Don't spend
- 2:51Speaker 1: your life focusing on what still needs work. Take time
- 2:54Speaker 1: to celebrate on what God has already done. You have
- 2:58Speaker 1: enough critics in the world, so don't become one of them.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Before yourself. Encourage yourself, speak life over yourself, and remember
- 3:07Speaker 1: the God who began a good work in you is
- 3:09Speaker 1: faithful to completed. Father, Thank you that you created us
- 3:13Speaker 1: with purpose and value. Thank you that you're continually working
- 3:16Speaker 1: in our lives, shaping us into who you've called us
- 3:19Speaker 1: to be. Forgive us for the times we focus more
- 3:22Speaker 1: on our failures than your faithfulness. Help us to see
- 3:25Speaker 1: ourselves through your eyes and to recognize the good things
- 3:28Speaker 1: that you're producing in us. Today we choose gratitude over criticism,
- 3:32Speaker 1: encouragement over condemnation and faith over discouragement. Thank you that
- 3:35Speaker 1: you work in our lives and your work is not finished,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and we trust you with every step of our journey
- 3:42Speaker 1: in Jesus' name. That's your work for today. Take it
- 3:45Speaker 1: applied to your everyday life and you continue to be
- 3:47Speaker 1: encouraged and inspired. And Charlie Body Praise Party. I am
