- 0:00Speaker 1: I'll hit you with the shut the hell up us curse.
- 0:02Speaker 1: It's one more thing.
- 0:09Speaker 2: So before we get to whatever that is on the show,
- 0:12Speaker 2: we got onto the topic of bathroom graffiti. Somehow found out, Yeah,
- 0:17Speaker 2: something I never discussion, truly found out, something I never
- 0:21Speaker 2: know my whole life til Katie told us that women's
- 0:24Speaker 2: rooms have disgusting drawings of penises. Also just assumed they're very.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Tasteful, beautifully rendered with light and shade. Yeah, drawings of
- 0:37Speaker 1: shanss and just assumed that women are above that.
- 0:40Speaker 2: That's funny if you assumed wrong, sir. Currently anyway, so
- 0:44Speaker 2: I went to chat GPT asking about some of your
- 0:47Speaker 2: better restroom graffiti. They went with the all time greats
- 0:52Speaker 2: here I Sit Broken Hearted, a classic. I won't do
- 0:56Speaker 2: the rest of that one. You're an advocate for the
- 0:58Speaker 2: return of pay toilets. Have been for a year absolutely
- 1:03Speaker 2: one hundred percent. H we aimed, and most foreign countries
- 1:06Speaker 2: I've been to have paid toilets and therefore have public toilets,
- 1:11Speaker 2: as opposed to the United States, where there's lots of
- 1:13Speaker 2: areas where there are no public toilets because they've been
- 1:16Speaker 2: destroyed by the drug addicts. And so you just can't
- 1:19Speaker 2: use the bathroom, which is a stupid way for society
- 1:21Speaker 2: to be. Anyway, we aimed, please, you aim too. Please.
- 1:26Speaker 2: That's actually very you know, a good message and succinct
- 1:29Speaker 2: and well done. Don't rush me. I'm making a masterpiece.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I find that disgusting. Gosh, but I'll just leave you
- 1:38Speaker 2: with this one and then I won't go through any
- 1:40Speaker 2: more of these, because you know, I feel like I'm
- 1:42Speaker 2: getting a poor reaction. Why what if the hokey pokey
- 1:47Speaker 2: is what it's all about, that's pretty fine.
- 1:51Speaker 1: There is a fabulous British pub in Sacramento, California, name
- 1:58Speaker 1: of the Fox and Goose, great place for breakfast, and
- 2:01Speaker 1: they're years and years ago. When I first went the
- 2:04Speaker 1: in their bathroom, the men's room, I was only in
- 2:05Speaker 1: the men's room. I'm I'm a cist gender male.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Ah. There was graffiti.
- 2:12Speaker 1: It was tile and grout on the walls, and there's
- 2:15Speaker 1: graffiti on all the grout and it was all puns
- 2:19Speaker 1: involving the word grout, the grout Gretzky grout expectations and
- 2:26Speaker 1: it seems stupid, but there are so many variations, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: some of them were like cerebral. It was my favorite
- 2:33Speaker 1: graffiti of all time. Yeah, I wish I had more examples.
- 2:36Speaker 2: It was so much more uplifting than a crude drawing
- 2:39Speaker 2: of a penis and testicles for someone's number. Who is
- 2:45Speaker 2: that for and for what reason?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, Jack, you know this, It's for the artist. They
- 2:54Speaker 1: are expressing themselves. Maybe they have an audience, maybe they don't.
- 2:58Speaker 1: The art is for them.
- 3:00Speaker 2: That's their big chance right there in that stall. I've
- 3:05Speaker 2: never scrawled anything on a bathroom all my life. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: know that for a fact.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I believe I have made may have penned a response
- 3:13Speaker 1: or two.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I gotta tell this story. I've told it before. It
- 3:17Speaker 2: is one of the weirdest things that ever happened to
- 3:19Speaker 2: me in my life. Joe Hills from the bathroom. Joe's
- 3:22Speaker 2: heard this story ten times.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I know.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm in the stacks at the University of Kansas taking
- 3:32Speaker 2: summer school, the stacks being the giant library, and like
- 3:36Speaker 2: my maga, on the fifth floor of whatever department. I mean,
- 3:40Speaker 2: there's nobody around. I mean the library is, but it's
- 3:42Speaker 2: an enormous library like big colleges are, and there's nobody
- 3:44Speaker 2: around or whatever, and I'm I go to the bathroom fantastic,
- 3:49Speaker 2: completely alone. I like my alone time in the library. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 2: bathroom in the library, and I'm on the I am
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'm seated for this activity, and I'm I'm killing a
- 4:00Speaker 2: little time. This is pre smartphone. You know, in the
- 4:02Speaker 2: smartphone era, I would have been reading my phone. But
- 4:04Speaker 2: this is pre smartphone. I don't even what did people
- 4:06Speaker 2: do in the bathroom pre smarty? What did you do
- 4:10Speaker 2: with a sport for your fellow? That's right. Newspapers were big.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Newspapers were big anyway, So I had no newspapers. So
- 4:17Speaker 2: I'm just reading the wall and I'm killing time reading
- 4:20Speaker 2: the wall, you know, it's usual. And then there is
- 4:22Speaker 2: a I forget exactly what it said, but it was
- 4:26Speaker 2: something about two for a good time or something like that.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It was like a meet me here noon, Thursday the
- 4:35Speaker 2: June eighth, or whatever it was. I thought, hmm, I'll
- 4:39Speaker 2: be damned, it's a day's June eighth. What time is it?
- 4:43Speaker 2: It is freaking noon, and I'm not kidding. Within moments,
- 4:49Speaker 2: some guys head comes underneath the stall. He's laying on
- 4:56Speaker 2: his back and he slides underneath the stall and he's
- 4:58Speaker 2: looking straight up at me. It is noon June yes,
- 5:04Speaker 2: and he's like wide eyed and ah, like he like
- 5:07Speaker 2: he was not pleased that I was not received, you know,
- 5:12Speaker 2: like like I wasn't there for the same reason he
- 5:14Speaker 2: was there. And uh, I pulled up my pants and
- 5:18Speaker 2: ran out.
- 5:19Speaker 3: He's still telling this story too. Right on sird is
- 5:22Speaker 3: that it's June eighth, the noon. I'd had that up
- 5:25Speaker 3: there for two weeks. I go back June eatean noon.
- 5:28Speaker 3: There's some guy in that day.
- 5:29Speaker 2: He freaks out. It was so weird. I can I
- 5:34Speaker 2: would recognize the guy. I'll bet I can still picture him.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It was. I was so shocked. It was so weird.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That sounds like something out of a movie. It does.
- 5:46Speaker 2: You and you're laying on the floor of a bathroom
- 5:47Speaker 2: and he's lid underneath there and I'm making straight down
- 5:50Speaker 2: in his face like an exact I don't know if
- 5:54Speaker 2: he was on a dolly like if you go under
- 5:56Speaker 2: to change oil in your car or what you.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Guys never seen O have you guys ever seen Dumb
- 6:01Speaker 4: and Dumber? What happened that that actually happens in that movie?
- 6:05Speaker 4: I'd forgotten that actually happened that gag. Wow, that was
- 6:09Speaker 4: so weird.
- 6:10Speaker 2: They stole your story. Yeah wow? Uh so?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Uh In the intro, I said, I'm gonna hit you
- 6:17Speaker 1: with the shut the hell up us curse. It's a
- 6:19Speaker 1: Harold Potter story. The great JK. Rowling Project. There's a
- 6:26Speaker 1: new HBO Harry Potter series coming up with with a
- 6:31Speaker 1: pretty good cast really, including John Lithgow and some other people.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But Potter coma wizard. Yes, apparently because of JK. Rowling's
- 6:43Speaker 1: outrageous insistence that only women are women. There's huge social
- 6:48Speaker 1: pressure you've got to be to harass these people. Open
- 6:52Speaker 1: letter to John Lithgow, Please walk away from Harry Potter.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Oh my god, could anything be more beloved than Harry Potter?
- 6:59Speaker 2: And you're gonna be anti having of this Harry Potter show. Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So, this guy, Nick Frost was named as the new
- 7:07Speaker 1: hagrid Um. He quickly had to disable comments on Instagram,
- 7:13Speaker 1: then gave an interview in which he said that his
- 7:16Speaker 1: opinions quote don't align in any way, shape or form
- 7:19Speaker 1: with those of JK.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Rowling, don't dignify their responses as hagrid. Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Really, Not only did he dignify it, but he he
- 7:28Speaker 1: appeased the tiny angry hyperactivist crowd. Yeah, yeah, wow, And
- 7:37Speaker 1: they go through all the various cast members saying, yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 1: I had a friend call me uh and with John Lithsgow,
- 7:44Speaker 1: had a friend sent him an article entitled an open
- 7:47Speaker 1: letter to John Litsko, please walk away from Harry Potter,
- 7:50Speaker 1: telling him, dude, keep your head down. I assume Liftgows's Dumbledore.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Or did you already say yes? No I didn't, but yes,
- 7:58Speaker 1: that's correct.
- 8:00Speaker 2: So is this a like just an episode's version of
- 8:05Speaker 2: the Harry Potter stories we've already seen before in movie form, or.
- 8:11Speaker 1: No, it's it's the Further Adventures. Okay, it's going back
- 8:15Speaker 1: to the Hogwarts days.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So what are they now? Like thirties and beaten down
- 8:19Speaker 2: my life?
- 8:19Speaker 1: And no, it's like the end of the final Harry
- 8:22Speaker 1: Potter Andy. Now he's forty five and kind of you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: stuck in a career and right, yeah, she's running around
- 8:32Speaker 1: on him with the Malfoy. Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 2: I didn't start the books early enough, so I didn't
- 8:36Speaker 2: get to the very last Oh with my kids. Do
- 8:40Speaker 2: he and Hermione end up together? No they don't, no.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Spoiler alert. No, they're they're best friends, not lovers. He's
- 8:49Speaker 1: with Ginny Weasley oh, okay, that makes sense. And the
- 8:54Speaker 1: final scene of the final book is incredibly touching, and
- 8:58Speaker 1: the movie for that matter, hmmm, it involves a snape
- 9:05Speaker 1: the bravest man Harry ever knew.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Okay, spoiler alert, and again I probably won't get around
- 9:12Speaker 2: to it unless I end up having more trouble. Well
- 9:14Speaker 2: you should. It's it's terrific entertainment. It's great. It's just
- 9:16Speaker 2: a good read. Of course, you read serious things. I do.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Then then this I'm currently reading as a novel. I
- 9:29Speaker 2: don't read that much literature. I should read more because
- 9:31Speaker 2: I really like it. I know i'm reading.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I never have time.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Uh. The End of the Affair by Graham Green. I
- 9:37Speaker 2: read another Graham Green book last year. Oh, I'm a
- 9:39Speaker 2: Graham Green fan. He is fantastic.
- 9:41Speaker 1: She screams f you and stomps out.
- 9:43Speaker 2: That's the end of the affair. But then, if you've
- 9:45Speaker 2: never read Graham Green and you like books, give it
- 9:47Speaker 2: a whirl.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Well, Muppets super fans held a funeral recently, Jack speaking
- 9:54Speaker 1: of popular culture and people way too into various things.
- 9:59Speaker 1: So Disney World in Florida announced the end of Muppet
- 10:06Speaker 1: Vision three d An attraction that had existed four decades.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Oh boy, so forty year old three D technology. That
- 10:14Speaker 2: must have been some Well, yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a Muppet fanatics flock to it for years
- 10:20Speaker 1: and years and.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Years, probably now dressed as animals.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Well, and this lady has a big Miss Piggy tattoo
- 10:28Speaker 1: on her arm.
- 10:28Speaker 2: All right, what is Miss Piggy doing in this anyway?
- 10:31Speaker 1: They dressed up in costumes. I was all cried out,
- 10:34Speaker 1: said a thirty nine year old man from Buffalo, New York.
- 10:40Speaker 1: He showed up early on the last day Muppet Vision
- 10:43Speaker 1: was open to the public to be among the first
- 10:45Speaker 1: to experience the film.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I like the way you verbally put man in quotes.
- 10:49Speaker 1: What He watched it multiple times and waited in line
- 10:52Speaker 1: for forty minutes just to purchase pressed penny souvenirs. And
- 10:55Speaker 1: when a crowd gathered that evening to sing Rainbow Connection
- 10:58Speaker 1: outside the theater entry, I'm guessing in your old city,
- 11:02Speaker 1: I had to call it today, I was all cried out.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Let me guess that these adults don't have children, A
- 11:08Speaker 2: lot of them.
- 11:11Speaker 5: Significant others or significant others, or they're all together, because
- 11:15Speaker 5: it's like the crowd when we went to when my
- 11:17Speaker 5: kids were younger and we went to Universal Studios for
- 11:20Speaker 5: the Mario exhibit, and we actually stood line longest I've
- 11:23Speaker 5: ever stood in line in my life, because I've regularly
- 11:25Speaker 5: said I wouldn't stand in line for anything.
- 11:27Speaker 2: My kids were into this, and we stood in line.
- 11:29Speaker 2: They do a pretty good job at Disney to keep
- 11:31Speaker 2: the lines moving to make it feel like it's not
- 11:33Speaker 2: so long. But we could stand in line for like,
- 11:36Speaker 2: I think two hours. I mean an insane amount of time.
- 11:39Speaker 2: But you worked your way through this giant castle and
- 11:41Speaker 2: up things and in things, so there's always stuff to
- 11:43Speaker 2: look at anywhou. The other people in line were mostly adults.
- 11:48Speaker 2: It wasn't kids. It was like thirty year old dudes
- 11:52Speaker 2: there with their dude friend. And they didn't appear to
- 11:54Speaker 2: be gay. They just like were childless arrested development. Oh
- 12:00Speaker 2: it was so distinct. Fed boys they call them in Japan. Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 2: it was that. So the attraction that surrounding area previously
- 12:08Speaker 2: known as Muppets Courtyard will be redeveloped into a section
- 12:11Speaker 2: based on the Monsters Incorporated franchise. Okay, that's quite the
- 12:15Speaker 2: leap forward in uh In culture from Muppets, because like
- 12:19Speaker 2: Muppets is way before your time, like Ray Kiddy, No,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I grew up with the Muppets. Okay, Yeah, Then they
- 12:26Speaker 2: organized a prom themed gathering in February and informal clothing
- 12:33Speaker 2: and they're childless. They don't you when you have kids,
- 12:35Speaker 2: you don't have time for this nonsense to go as
- 12:37Speaker 2: a grown up to do this sort of thing for
- 12:38Speaker 2: a whole day and dress up. Like I remember saying
- 12:41Speaker 2: this when I got back from Universal after going to
- 12:43Speaker 2: the Mario thing, trying to picture when I was in line,
- 12:46Speaker 2: trying to picture my dad as a thirty year old
- 12:49Speaker 2: dressed in a Mario costume, waiting in line for hours
- 12:53Speaker 2: to ride the rides. He had a couple of kids,
- 12:56Speaker 2: and he'd had a job and been married for years,
- 12:59Speaker 2: and you know, it's just it's just a ah.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Oh, here's a guy with a three year old stepson.
- 13:04Speaker 1: That's the only mention I can find of that.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Uh.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Being in that theater, in some cell sense felt like
- 13:11Speaker 1: being part of the Muppet Show, said jd Hansel, a
- 13:14Speaker 1: writer for Muppet fan site Tough Pigs, who recently made
- 13:18Speaker 1: the pilgrimage to pay his respects.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Yeah alright, hi yah, Well, I guess that's it.
