- 0:00Speaker 1: Controversy and crashes could be two ways to describe the
- 0:04Speaker 1: Amelia Ramana Grand Prix. And while for some it's a
- 0:08Speaker 1: weekend to forget, there's one writer who has everybody in
- 0:12Speaker 1: Murdo GP talking right now. But I'm your host, Rinita Vmulan,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and adjoining me is the man who's fast with Emoto
- 0:19Speaker 1: GP fax than Peggo Vanyaya on his home turf. It's
- 0:23Speaker 1: the walking Moto GP Encyclopedia himself, Matt Clayton. Matt, I
- 0:28Speaker 1: feel like we just have to start this pod off
- 0:30Speaker 1: by talking about that last lap barge between Annea Bashanini
- 0:35Speaker 1: on Joge Martin, social media, news websites. Everyone has just
- 0:41Speaker 1: divided on their opinion, but I want to know what's
- 0:44Speaker 1: your take on that move?
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yes, Reneeda, it certainly was the talking point other than
- 0:51Speaker 2: Banyay crashing out, which I'm sure we'll get to. I'm
- 0:52Speaker 2: not sure being compared to pick Out when he's just
- 0:54Speaker 2: crashed out of a racist great thing, But we'll come
- 0:57Speaker 2: back to that. But yeah, look, Bashianini and Martin and
- 0:59Speaker 2: the last lap at Massano on Sunday certainly very controversial.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It certainly enlivened what was a tense but not super
- 1:08Speaker 2: exciting race. But I don't know about you, but the
- 1:12Speaker 2: decision to not even investigate it from the stewards, let
- 1:15Speaker 2: alone hand down any sort of penalty. The wider thing
- 1:18Speaker 2: for me here is, well, there's six races to go
- 1:21Speaker 2: this season, and if this is considered to be acceptable,
- 1:23Speaker 2: and this is considered to be play on, it kind
- 1:26Speaker 2: of sets out the rules for the last six races,
- 1:28Speaker 2: doesn't it. Because I don't think we'll be having this
- 1:29Speaker 2: conversation for the last time today. I think it's pretty
- 1:32Speaker 2: much set up how these last six races all will go.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And yeah, controversy, I reckon we'll be seeing that where
- 1:38Speaker 2: a capital see plenty of times between now and Valencia.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Well do you think that they didn't investigate it purely
- 1:45Speaker 1: because Juee Martin just rolled out of it, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 1: waved his hands in the air, did everything and then
- 1:50Speaker 1: rolled back. If he had stayed, I guess on the pace,
- 1:53Speaker 1: even though he did run off track, do you think
- 1:55Speaker 1: there might have been a bit more there.
- 1:57Speaker 2: It's interesting, isn't it, Because at the end he rolled
- 1:59Speaker 2: out so much on that final lap that he finished
- 2:01Speaker 2: five seconds behind Bastinini is like five point one or something.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Imagine if the fudor or if Motor GP had said, well,
- 2:08Speaker 2: that's a five second penalty for Bastiditi, so therefore he
- 2:11Speaker 2: ends up winning by like six tenths of a second
- 2:13Speaker 2: or something. But that would have been interesting.
- 2:15Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I'd I like to see races decided, not in the
- 2:22Speaker 2: steward's room. You want them decided on track. But there
- 2:25Speaker 2: seems to be two sets of rules here, and that
- 2:27Speaker 2: you can kind of do anything on the first lap
- 2:29Speaker 2: of a RaSE, you can kind of do anything on
- 2:31Speaker 2: the last lap of a race. I'm also wondering, say
- 2:34Speaker 2: that incident happens with two laps to go, three laps
- 2:36Speaker 2: to go, ten laps to go, is it adjudicated differently
- 2:40Speaker 2: because it's the final lap of a race and nobody
- 2:42Speaker 2: wants to see a race decided in a steward's room,
- 2:45Speaker 2: and that being the case, does that now change tactically
- 2:48Speaker 2: how you approach trying to win a race in the
- 2:51Speaker 2: last lap, Because if you're second on the last lap
- 2:54Speaker 2: and it's close, why would you not make a move
- 2:57Speaker 2: like Bastianini made, Because this is good chance that it's
- 3:01Speaker 2: going to be adjudicated differently on the last lap that
- 3:03Speaker 2: it would be any other lab So why not go
- 3:05Speaker 2: for it. There seems to be two separate sets of
- 3:07Speaker 2: rules here. No one wants to see races decided after
- 3:10Speaker 2: the fact with penalties and what have you. But I
- 3:12Speaker 2: can't help but think if this had happened two laps earlier,
- 3:15Speaker 2: ten laps earlier, second lap of the race, whether we're
- 3:18Speaker 2: having a very very different conversation here. But they've now
- 3:21Speaker 2: said a precedent. I hope it doesn't come back to
- 3:23Speaker 2: bite somebody in these last six races, because the last
- 3:27Speaker 2: thing we want to see is a championship decided by
- 3:29Speaker 2: something contentious. We want excitement, We want it to be thrilling,
- 3:32Speaker 2: we want it to be tense. We don't want it
- 3:35Speaker 2: to be decided at the whim of whether the stewards
- 3:38Speaker 2: decide whether it should be penalized or not.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I completely agree with you. I think for what would
- 3:44Speaker 1: be maybe classed as a boring race, apart from the
- 3:47Speaker 1: crashes that will get too shortly, I think that he
- 3:50Speaker 1: definitely made things a little bit more exciting. But you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: if we go back to Aragon, there was that crash
- 3:57Speaker 1: between Alex Marquez and Pecubaak. It was very dangerous crash
- 4:01Speaker 1: and obviously Pecker was injured from it. Not what we're after,
- 4:07Speaker 1: But was there no decision made because there was no
- 4:10Speaker 1: I guess crash from it. It just seems like in
- 4:14Speaker 1: the stewards of what goes through their mind sometimes, but
- 4:17Speaker 1: it almost feels like they play it depending on who's involved.
- 4:21Speaker 3: As well a little bit.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And you know what was super interesting for me is
- 4:25Speaker 2: that I was really interesting to hear what Simon Crayfar
- 4:28Speaker 2: said about this on the coverage on the World Feed,
- 4:31Speaker 2: because of course Simon next year is going to be
- 4:33Speaker 2: Chief Stewards in twenty twenty five, and look like, I
- 4:37Speaker 2: think Simon does a fantastic job. I think he has
- 4:40Speaker 2: had several careers he's done great jobs in and I'm
- 4:42Speaker 2: sure he'll be good in his new role for next year.
- 4:44Speaker 2: But it was interesting he said he only felt the
- 4:46Speaker 2: best you need. He actually ran off the side of
- 4:48Speaker 2: the track because he was looking back to see if
- 4:51Speaker 2: Martine had actually crashed out or on. And the curious
- 4:54Speaker 2: part to me is, you know, normally if you leave
- 4:57Speaker 2: the track to gain an advantage or to complet to overtake,
- 5:00Speaker 2: then it's going to be a penalty there, But Simon's
- 5:02Speaker 2: basically saying that he only felt that an AA had
- 5:04Speaker 2: run off the track to look back to see if
- 5:06Speaker 2: Martin was off the bike. But he's still off the track.
- 5:09Speaker 2: So we're now going to issue penalties or not based
- 5:12Speaker 2: on someone's intent or we're reading the mind of the
- 5:15Speaker 2: person that's actually done the transgression. That's interesting to me
- 5:18Speaker 2: because look, I'm sure Anaa did look back over his
- 5:21Speaker 2: shoulder to see whether Martin was on the ground or
- 5:23Speaker 2: whether it was right behind him, but in doing so,
- 5:25Speaker 2: he actually ran off the track. So by the letter
- 5:29Speaker 2: of the law, shouldn't that be a penalty. I mean,
- 5:31Speaker 2: there's arguments either way with this, but I just thought
- 5:33Speaker 2: it was interesting to hear Simon's point of view on
- 5:35Speaker 2: this because he's going to be in the position to
- 5:37Speaker 2: make a decision next year. To give Simon some leeway here,
- 5:41Speaker 2: he admitted that he's not one hundred percent on top
- 5:43Speaker 2: of how these things are adjudged, and they look at
- 5:46Speaker 2: different camera angles, and they have much they have many
- 5:49Speaker 2: more tools at their disposal to make a decision than
- 5:51Speaker 2: he does simply looking at a TV picture. But I
- 5:54Speaker 2: thought that was pretty interesting based on what's going to
- 5:56Speaker 2: go forward next year. But as I've said a couple
- 5:58Speaker 2: of times now, I just think think where this sets
- 6:02Speaker 2: us up for these final six races, given that we've
- 6:04Speaker 2: got a championship fight that he's super super close, and
- 6:09Speaker 2: Anaya is not out of the championship fight necessarily, But
- 6:12Speaker 2: I get the feeling that he's going to have much
- 6:14Speaker 2: more of a sayers to who ends up winning this
- 6:15Speaker 2: championship because he's got the bike and he's got the
- 6:17Speaker 2: pace on occasion to really fight with Peco and Martine upfront.
- 6:22Speaker 2: The can of worms this may open by not making
- 6:25Speaker 2: a decision, Yeah, could be super interesting, couldn't it.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Well, some of the writers have been very vocal. One
- 6:32Speaker 1: who I'm sure Mado GP fans are not surprised who's
- 6:34Speaker 1: been vocal was Alisha Spargaro had.
- 6:37Speaker 3: His shocking who would have thought?
- 6:39Speaker 1: Who would have thought Alish would say an opinion? But
- 6:41Speaker 1: also Mark Marquez said an opinion, and he thinks that
- 6:46Speaker 1: there should have been a penalty handed to Anaa. There's
- 6:51Speaker 1: been plenty of times Mark Marquez has done something very
- 6:54Speaker 1: similar in a lot of his races, so I feel
- 6:57Speaker 1: like for him to say that's a little bit like
- 6:59Speaker 1: really color Mark lay.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I think yeah. I mean two things here, Aleish.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Alaisha's great for journey, he polarizes fans. He's great as
- 7:08Speaker 2: a jurdo because he always has an opinion on everything
- 7:10Speaker 2: and he's not shy and sharing that. But as soon
- 7:13Speaker 2: as he got involved in deciding who was at fault,
- 7:16Speaker 2: he also have to remember that literally his best friend
- 7:18Speaker 2: in the entire paddock is Orje Martin, and he was
- 7:21Speaker 2: hugely influential in getting Martine to come to Apulia as
- 7:24Speaker 2: his replacement after he retires after all the decade stuff
- 7:27Speaker 2: went down. So Alaisia's not exactly impartial when it comes
- 7:30Speaker 2: to this. And also if there's a decision that errs
- 7:33Speaker 2: on the side of safety or caution, Alaisia's very much
- 7:35Speaker 2: on the let's try and make this safe, which in
- 7:37Speaker 2: some occasions I think is absolutely correct. By the way,
- 7:40Speaker 2: so Alaysia's opinion it was kind of hard to take
- 7:43Speaker 2: massively seriously when it came to this incident. But I
- 7:46Speaker 2: think the thing with Marquez was going back to what
- 7:48Speaker 2: I'd said before, is that Bastiindi had left the track
- 7:51Speaker 2: to complete and overtake, which was interesting, But as you
- 7:55Speaker 2: said before, someone actually described it in the press conference
- 7:58Speaker 2: afterwards that Bastianini had made a Mark Barques move, So
- 8:03Speaker 2: it's almost like named after him because he's made so
- 8:06Speaker 2: many of these on the limit overtakes in the past.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We forget that towards the end of Mark's heyday at
- 8:12Speaker 2: Repsol Honda, he wasn't often in fights for race wins,
- 8:16Speaker 2: unless it was with Fabio Couatrara in twenty nineteen, he
- 8:19Speaker 2: was often so far ahead.
- 8:20Speaker 3: That it didn't matter.
- 8:21Speaker 2: But Mark definitely has form in these sorts of situations.
- 8:25Speaker 2: But again, it got everyone talking, and I think the
- 8:28Speaker 2: key point you made before was it wasn't a massively
- 8:31Speaker 2: interesting race before the last lap, and the tension had
- 8:34Speaker 2: been building, but you knew it was building to this
- 8:36Speaker 2: crescendo that something was going to happen on the last lap.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And it's just as well because it wasn't a super
- 8:41Speaker 2: exciting race up front. But when you have two races
- 8:44Speaker 2: at the same track in a three week period and
- 8:46Speaker 2: there's been a test in between, there's probably not a
- 8:49Speaker 2: heap of variance going on is there up the front.
- 8:51Speaker 2: So it's probably the race that we're always going to get.
- 8:53Speaker 2: At least we've got a good conclusion to have something
- 8:55Speaker 2: to talk about.
- 8:56Speaker 1: We did, We did, but you mentioned Fabio there and
- 8:58Speaker 1: I thought, let's have a chat about him. Because for
- 9:01Speaker 1: me this weekend, Matt, he was my writer of the weekend,
- 9:04Speaker 1: made it into Q two, qualified ninth and finished both
- 9:08Speaker 1: races in seventh. I feel that there's no denying Fabio
- 9:14Speaker 1: is still is one of the best riders on the grid.
- 9:17Speaker 1: He's up there. He is a world champion alongside Peco
- 9:21Speaker 1: and Mark and some of the best we've ever had
- 9:23Speaker 1: him at OGP, But it's so hard when he's not
- 9:27Speaker 1: on machinery that's allowing him to compete at the front.
- 9:30Speaker 1: So when we see these small glimpses of a Yamaha,
- 9:33Speaker 1: it's nice to see that navy Yamaha blue in on
- 9:36Speaker 1: the TV coverage. I feel like it's exciting and we
- 9:40Speaker 1: can see that there they're so close to being there.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But talking about Fabria's ride this weekend, for me, he
- 9:45Speaker 1: was one of the best writers.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I think he was the star of the weekend. Quite frankly,
- 9:49Speaker 2: when you look at what it is that he's riding,
- 9:51Speaker 2: and the fact that he was basically a one man
- 9:53Speaker 2: team for most of the weekend, because Alex Rides had
- 9:55Speaker 2: to pull out seek he had a bad virus and
- 9:58Speaker 2: he pulled out on Saturday, And because there's only two
- 10:00Speaker 2: Yamahas on the grid, you've got Fabio fighting single handed
- 10:04Speaker 2: again just eight to katis had four ktms and you
- 10:06Speaker 2: know he's plowing this lone furrow for them. But his
- 10:10Speaker 2: weekend was absolutely outstanding. He should have finished fifth in
- 10:14Speaker 2: the Grand Prix on Sunday, but lost with the World
- 10:17Speaker 2: TV feed because we're concentrating on what happened at the front.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He actually ran out of fuel with two quarters to
- 10:22Speaker 2: go on the last lap, so he got to turn
- 10:24Speaker 2: twelve on the last lap and was in fifth place
- 10:27Speaker 2: and the thing just coughed and basically died for the
- 10:29Speaker 2: last two corners, So he lost nine seconds in the
- 10:32Speaker 2: last sector on the last lap and got overtaken by
- 10:35Speaker 2: Franco Borberdelli and Maverick Vidale. So he ended up finishing seventh.
- 10:39Speaker 2: How do you finished fifth? The four bikes ahead of him, Bashanini,
- 10:42Speaker 2: Martin Marquez and Marco Bozeki who had a rare good
- 10:45Speaker 2: race for him this year. This is the sort of
- 10:48Speaker 2: company that Fabio's keeping on a Yamaha and I think
- 10:52Speaker 2: where it's exciting for Australian fans is that Jack Miller
- 10:54Speaker 2: MP me go to Yabaha at a time where Yabahar
- 10:56Speaker 2: are really starting to climb. But over the course of
- 10:59Speaker 2: the weekend, when you can what he was riding and
- 11:01Speaker 2: the fact that he was doing it by himself, Fabia
- 11:03Speaker 2: was not outside of the top ten in any session
- 11:06Speaker 2: across the weekend, which is not something we've said about
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yamaha for a while. He was absolutely outstanding and it's
- 11:13Speaker 2: a nice It's just nice, as you said, to see
- 11:16Speaker 2: a different bike in a different manufacturer back up the
- 11:18Speaker 2: front again because it's been so long. We know how
- 11:21Speaker 2: good this guy is if he's given the tools to
- 11:25Speaker 2: work with. And I think it was a really good
- 11:28Speaker 2: sign for Yamaha, a really good sign for him. And
- 11:30Speaker 2: he was you know, you think he would be absolutely
- 11:33Speaker 2: gutted about basically having to roll his bike over the
- 11:35Speaker 2: line after working so hard for thirty five minutes on Sunday,
- 11:38Speaker 2: but he was actually pretty bullish afterwards. He can see
- 11:41Speaker 2: signs of genuine progress with that team. That's not something
- 11:45Speaker 2: he's seen for a while, and it looks like, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 2: they got a long way to come back but they're
- 11:50Speaker 2: pointing in the right direction, and he's a huge driving
- 11:53Speaker 2: force for that. I don't think he's lost any of
- 11:54Speaker 2: his quality at all. And if they build him a
- 11:57Speaker 2: half reasonable bike to fight with, we're going to be
- 11:59Speaker 2: seeing and fight for things that are much more important
- 12:01Speaker 2: than fifth or seventh places. Before too long, Well.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Let's talk about Peko Vannoya this weekend because it's his
- 12:08Speaker 1: second home Grand Prix, because obviously back to back Mazano
- 12:12Speaker 1: two and coming into this weekend he wasn't injured, he
- 12:15Speaker 1: was looking strong, testing was good the couple weeks prior.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So he did take poll this weekend and one Saturday's Sprint,
- 12:25Speaker 1: Sunday's Grand Prix. It just seemed like the whole weekend,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I guess completely did a one eighty and turned around
- 12:32Speaker 1: from him, Matt, Did he have issues with the ties
- 12:35Speaker 1: in the end? Is that why he dropped so far
- 12:38Speaker 1: off in the pace before he started to pick things
- 12:40Speaker 1: back up.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what he was saying. Afterwards.
- 12:43Speaker 2: He was blaming Michelum without blaming Michelin, which is something
- 12:46Speaker 2: that a lot of writers do when things go awry.
- 12:48Speaker 2: But it was such a weird set of circumstances because
- 12:51Speaker 2: he got to the first corner and led the first
- 12:53Speaker 2: couple of laps, relinquished the lead to Martine, is like,
- 12:56Speaker 2: all right, well that happened in the sprint as well,
- 12:58Speaker 2: before he came back and picked him off, took that win,
- 13:01Speaker 2: and then for about ten laps he was basically nowhere,
- 13:04Speaker 2: and that he was so far back he was out
- 13:06Speaker 2: of the TV shot at the front with Martine and Bastianini.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It was a three and a half second deficit to
- 13:11Speaker 2: the front at some point, and then it was almost
- 13:14Speaker 2: like that rear tire started to work for him and
- 13:16Speaker 2: he just came forward so fast he set the lap
- 13:19Speaker 2: record and then broke it again on the following lap.
- 13:21Speaker 2: He got to lap twenty one, the gaps just beneath
- 13:24Speaker 2: two seconds, and you're going, oh boy, of these top three,
- 13:27Speaker 2: he's clearly the fastest guy.
- 13:28Speaker 3: It looks like we're going to have a three way fight.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And then dropped the front going into turn eight and
- 13:34Speaker 2: crashed out on lap twenty one, which was just one
- 13:37Speaker 2: of those I think he said he had thirty five
- 13:39Speaker 2: degrees of lean angle, which is not very much on
- 13:41Speaker 2: a motor GP bike. Let's be perfectly honest, and the
- 13:43Speaker 2: thing just threw him off and definitely pointing a tire
- 13:47Speaker 2: issues for the reason that he DNF there. But what's
- 13:52Speaker 2: so interesting, and you mentioned this a couple of podcasts ago,
- 13:54Speaker 2: it's kind of the derated number of the season for me.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It's got seven DNFs now out of the two twenty
- 14:00Speaker 2: eight starts. And we're coming off this season last year
- 14:03Speaker 2: where it felt that Joge Martin threw the championship away
- 14:06Speaker 2: by crashing from the lead and making wrong tire choices
- 14:09Speaker 2: at Philip Island and so on and so forth. Peko
- 14:11Speaker 2: was always the steady hand and he would just always
- 14:13Speaker 2: be there week after week. Jejgey Martin has three d
- 14:16Speaker 2: nfs this season and Pecko has seven, and that you
- 14:19Speaker 2: could basically say is the World Championship deficit right there,
- 14:23Speaker 2: because on his day, Pecko's still the fastest guy in
- 14:26Speaker 2: the field. He's won seven races this year ready, which
- 14:28Speaker 2: matches the number that he won in twenty two and
- 14:30Speaker 2: twenty three when he won the championship. How is he
- 14:33Speaker 2: twenty four points behind is because he keeps not finishing
- 14:36Speaker 2: from positions of advantage. So you know, all year, I
- 14:39Speaker 2: think we've thought, oh, well, he's got time, he's got
- 14:41Speaker 2: time he can overcome this deficit.
- 14:43Speaker 3: We're starting to run.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Out of time, and you know, clawing back twenty four
- 14:47Speaker 2: points on a rider that's become as consistent as Martin
- 14:50Speaker 2: has become this season, even as good as Banyyi is,
- 14:54Speaker 2: this is going to be hard now. And that's not
- 14:56Speaker 2: a sentence that I thought that I was going to say,
- 14:58Speaker 2: because I always had the most trust that he would
- 15:01Speaker 2: come through. We've got six race weekends left, and it's
- 15:05Speaker 2: not a situation where he can only afford one more
- 15:07Speaker 2: slip up and he's in massive trouble. But we're fast
- 15:10Speaker 2: approaching that because he can't afford to throw any more
- 15:13Speaker 2: results away. But it tires or crashes or lack of
- 15:15Speaker 2: concentration or whatever it is. He's not quite on a
- 15:18Speaker 2: knife edge. But if we're having this conversation in one
- 15:20Speaker 2: or two races time, then he's in some trouble.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I think, I.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Think you just said lack of concentration. Then I just
- 15:26Speaker 1: took my mind back to the sprint. So I'm going
- 15:28Speaker 1: to just diverge there really quickly. Because Joege Martin said
- 15:33Speaker 1: that he had a lack of concentration when he got
- 15:35Speaker 1: that long lap penalty in the sprint which made him
- 15:38Speaker 1: finish second. But then to go back to what you're
- 15:40Speaker 1: saying is consistency is key, and this is what I
- 15:43Speaker 1: think we're seeing with Jje Martinez. He's finished second in
- 15:46Speaker 1: both races this weekend. There was a run there I
- 15:49Speaker 1: think it was Asen, it was Germany, maybe a Silverstone
- 15:53Speaker 1: where he was second, second, second, second the whole way through.
- 15:56Speaker 1: And it just goes to show also that you don't
- 15:58Speaker 1: necessarily have to be winning all the time, but if
- 16:01Speaker 1: you are consistent, you're up the front, pushing through, then
- 16:05Speaker 1: that could be what doesn't make that champion. But sorry,
- 16:08Speaker 1: I've completely gone to two different lines there.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Well no, Well, here's a slight trivia quiz for you,
- 16:13Speaker 2: because you'll struggle to remember it. When was the last
- 16:14Speaker 2: time Juage Martine won a Grand Prix Off the top
- 16:16Speaker 2: of your head.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Something I want to say, lemon, but am I?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yes, you are absolutely correct. That's nine Grand Prix a
- 16:24Speaker 2: goo for those of us still counting, and that was
- 16:26Speaker 2: round five.
- 16:27Speaker 3: It was May.
- 16:28Speaker 2: It was before winter here in Australia, so it's been
- 16:30Speaker 2: that long since he won on a Sunday. But he's
- 16:33Speaker 2: just so consistent and so there's been nine Sunday Grand
- 16:37Speaker 2: Prix since he's been on the podium, been seven of them.
- 16:39Speaker 2: So it shows you that consistency is the way to
- 16:42Speaker 2: build a championship lead. It's just the most pivotal thing
- 16:45Speaker 2: for Jorge right now because no, he's not winning, but
- 16:48Speaker 2: he's always there. And look, he's got this twenty four
- 16:51Speaker 2: point lead. That's even factoring in the fact that he
- 16:53Speaker 2: crashed with two laps to go in Germany and threw
- 16:55Speaker 2: away a win there. Even with all of that, he
- 16:58Speaker 2: still has a handy lead in the championship. What's absolutely
- 17:01Speaker 2: bizarre to be is you remember last week's podcast, we're
- 17:03Speaker 2: talking about, oh, how could he make a bike swap
- 17:05Speaker 2: when it wasn't raining and it was a disaster and
- 17:07Speaker 2: he was lapped and he was fifteenth. You look at
- 17:09Speaker 2: the two races in Messano, he actually gained one point
- 17:13Speaker 2: of Badya across two weekends because bad E's DNF last Sunday.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Is that's so funny how we look at these things.
- 17:18Speaker 2: We thought the world was falling it after he made that,
- 17:21Speaker 2: you know, had the brain fart in the first Mesado
- 17:23Speaker 2: and pitted for a wet weather bike when it wasn't
- 17:24Speaker 2: raining and He's actually come out of two rounds at
- 17:27Speaker 2: Mesado with a one point advantage over Peca.
- 17:30Speaker 3: It's hilarious.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I just want to touch again on his lack of concentration,
- 17:36Speaker 1: I guess with those long lap penalties.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, purely on.
- 17:39Speaker 1: The fact that you know, in the test the Monday
- 17:42Speaker 1: after Mazzano one, they were testing this communication thing. There's
- 17:47Speaker 1: ship to shore, and I thought, imagine if they did
- 17:50Speaker 1: have this ship to shore and he's losing concentration over
- 17:53Speaker 1: a message that comes up on his dash. Imagine someone
- 17:56Speaker 1: in your ear being, hey, you've got a long lap penalty.
- 17:58Speaker 1: You just need to like go down a little bit,
- 18:00Speaker 1: bro or something.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 2: And also, you know, I look at how busy these
- 18:04Speaker 2: guys are hanging off the side of bikes, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 2: going through like cavoning at Messana and have all these
- 18:09Speaker 2: other fast corners. When's the right time to speak to
- 18:12Speaker 2: a rider. The right time to speak to a rider
- 18:15Speaker 2: if we're going to go down this path is clearly
- 18:16Speaker 2: on the straight. But where are the bikes at They're
- 18:18Speaker 2: loudest at their loudest on a straight when they're completely
- 18:21Speaker 2: gassed up, and the rider will be lucky to hear
- 18:23Speaker 2: them anyway, So you'll be breaking into turn one and say,
- 18:26Speaker 2: can you say that again? You're breaking up. It's like
- 18:28Speaker 2: you've got a dodgy mobile or reception or something. And
- 18:31Speaker 2: then someone will be telling you that you've got a
- 18:32Speaker 2: long lap penalty as you tip the bike into turn
- 18:34Speaker 2: one and you get distracted then run off or fall
- 18:37Speaker 2: off or something. So there's definitely a It's definitely another
- 18:41Speaker 2: story to happen there with the radios because it's different
- 18:43Speaker 2: when you're driving a car, and we see it with
- 18:44Speaker 2: Formula one and supercars. It's a much more controlled environment
- 18:48Speaker 2: because the driver's body is not getting thrown around and
- 18:51Speaker 2: it's not so physical, whereas on a bike, I'm not sure.
- 18:55Speaker 2: I mean there's bad times and worse times to talk
- 18:58Speaker 2: to a rider on a bike.
- 19:00Speaker 3: When do you do it?
- 19:01Speaker 2: And then when do you communicate information like that? So, yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 2: if he's getting distracted by a message on his dash,
- 19:06Speaker 2: imagine if that was someone in his ear telling you
- 19:08Speaker 2: that he had a track limits penalty. What that would do.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So yeah, watch this space on that one because that's
- 19:14Speaker 2: going to be one of the biggest impediments to getting
- 19:16Speaker 2: this cross the line because the riders are going to say, well, sure,
- 19:19Speaker 2: but when would you like to tell us this information?
- 19:21Speaker 2: And how distracting is it going to be?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Yeah, no, exactly. That's why I just thought, if he's
- 19:25Speaker 1: getting distracted by a little message on his dash, that's
- 19:28Speaker 1: going to be yes when someone's in his ear. But Matt,
- 19:31Speaker 1: we can't talk about MONOGP and not talk about Mark Marquez,
- 19:35Speaker 1: And for me, it kind of felt like a little
- 19:37Speaker 1: bit deja voo this weekend because of the qualifying crash
- 19:40Speaker 1: again where he was. I think this is the start
- 19:43Speaker 1: of the third row this weekend. So the question that
- 19:47Speaker 1: I want to post to you is because we are
- 19:48Speaker 1: starting to see a little bit more of a difference
- 19:51Speaker 1: between the GP twenty threes and the twenty fours, do
- 19:55Speaker 1: you think if Mark did qualify on the first one
- 19:58Speaker 1: to two rows, would he have been fighting for that
- 20:02Speaker 1: podium and like actually fighting there with Jorge and AA
- 20:05Speaker 1: and Peco.
- 20:06Speaker 3: I still don't think so.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I think, going back to what we were saying before
- 20:11Speaker 2: about having two races at the same track in a
- 20:13Speaker 2: three week period, everyone kind of knew where their level
- 20:16Speaker 2: was and so there was less gray area where someone
- 20:18Speaker 2: like Marquez could make a difference, and the whole weekend.
- 20:21Speaker 2: He was basically saying, I'm targeting fourth place. He wants
- 20:24Speaker 2: to be ahead of everybody else, and he doesn't think
- 20:26Speaker 2: he's going to have anything for the top three guys,
- 20:29Speaker 2: And that was pretty much how his race was panning out.
- 20:31Speaker 2: A Costra had fallen off, so that was someone that
- 20:33Speaker 2: was out of his way, and he basically inherited the
- 20:36Speaker 2: podium when Banyaya fell off with seven laps to go.
- 20:39Speaker 2: But I don't think there was anything else more on
- 20:41Speaker 2: offer for him. There there was nothing random about the
- 20:44Speaker 2: weekend in there. It didn't rain, we didn't have a
- 20:46Speaker 2: crazy slippery track surface, we didn't have a flag to flag.
- 20:49Speaker 2: There was no outlier variable where if you give Mark
- 20:53Speaker 2: you an inch to capitalize on something random going on.
- 20:56Speaker 2: He's right there. There was a lack of randomness about
- 21:00Speaker 2: the whole weekend, even more so because it was the
- 21:02Speaker 2: second race at the same track in three weeks, so
- 21:05Speaker 2: it was an inherited podium. I don't think he was
- 21:08Speaker 2: ever expecting any more than that. I think once you
- 21:11Speaker 2: get out on the flyways, where there's more variables could rain,
- 21:15Speaker 2: people have got less darted with these circuits going through
- 21:17Speaker 2: Indonesia and Malaysia and Thailand and Australia than they normally do.
- 21:21Speaker 2: There'll be more chances for him to make a difference
- 21:23Speaker 2: in those, and yeah, he's on an inferior bike to
- 21:26Speaker 2: the twenty four, but I think the twenty fours advantages
- 21:29Speaker 2: because there's much more unknowns going into five of these
- 21:32Speaker 2: last six rounds, that mitigates the advantage a little bit.
- 21:35Speaker 2: So it was a muted podium. It was a decent podium.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Someone had to be there to sweep up the crumbs
- 21:41Speaker 2: when Banyai chucked it down the road, But I don't
- 21:44Speaker 2: think there was anything else more on off of than that.
- 21:46Speaker 1: I think if not interesting this weekend because it wasn't
- 21:49Speaker 1: so VR forty six Valentino Rossi dominated compared to Mazano one,
- 21:54Speaker 1: where we had Morbidelli and the Zeki qualifying on the
- 21:58Speaker 1: front row. Morbidelli was on the sprint podium in Mazano one.
- 22:02Speaker 1: It felt this weekend, especially with all that Valentino drama
- 22:06Speaker 1: that we touched on in the last part as well,
- 22:08Speaker 1: it felt it was very not Valentino Rossi driven this weekend.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah, completely, and I think that's where having that second
- 22:15Speaker 2: race in three weeks the natural advantage that of our
- 22:18Speaker 2: forty six guys have from lapping Pisano blindfolded when everyone
- 22:22Speaker 2: else had been there two weeks previously and got their
- 22:24Speaker 2: eye in. I think the advantage of your Morbidelli's in
- 22:27Speaker 2: your Bizekis, who did have a very good race, actually
- 22:29Speaker 2: because he roll the dice on a software attire. But
- 22:32Speaker 2: I think the advantage of those guys who lapped that
- 22:34Speaker 2: circuit a million times over was negated a little bit
- 22:37Speaker 2: because everyone had their eye in, it had been two
- 22:39Speaker 2: weeks since they've been there, not twelve months. That probably
- 22:43Speaker 2: took away some of the advantage there. But I don't
- 22:45Speaker 2: think I saw Valentino on the coverage on Sunday, which
- 22:48Speaker 2: is astonishing, But looking at some of the grand stands there,
- 22:51Speaker 2: I think the crowd was roughly half what it was
- 22:53Speaker 2: for the San Marino GP two weeks before. So not
- 22:56Speaker 2: only was Valentino not there, I don't think many other
- 22:58Speaker 2: people were either.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I heard on another podcast that the championship the what's
- 23:06Speaker 1: the word I'm looking for? The people who run the event,
- 23:09Speaker 1: they initiative to people who came to Mazzano. One was
- 23:13Speaker 1: if you want to come back from Mazzano two or
- 23:15Speaker 1: give you get you tickets or basically half price, and
- 23:18Speaker 1: I thought that was really good considering that we touched
- 23:21Speaker 1: on in the earlier pod. Mizzano Uh sorry, well, Ciperwikes
- 23:24Speaker 1: was on in Kromona, which is as far as I'm aware, just.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Up the road sort of yeah, people could.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Go to that, and Formula one was on in Singapore two,
- 23:34Speaker 1: so there was a lot of motorsport happening on that weekend.
- 23:36Speaker 1: So I think to have about half the crowd that
- 23:38Speaker 1: they did have at Mazzano one was good, I would say.
- 23:42Speaker 1: Considering the same track, we kind of knew what was
- 23:44Speaker 1: going to happen. We knew Peko and wait, we're gonna
- 23:47Speaker 1: be strong, So I think from that side of it,
- 23:49Speaker 1: things were good. But I just want to touch on
- 23:52Speaker 1: as well. Heading into the weekend, Moto GP announced that
- 23:56Speaker 1: they are racing in Hungary from twenty five. They're going
- 24:01Speaker 1: to be going to Balloton Park, so I'm excited. It's
- 24:05Speaker 1: a new track somewhere where a lot of the writers
- 24:07Speaker 1: haven't been before, so I think it's going to be
- 24:09Speaker 1: interesting next season.
- 24:11Speaker 2: A new track's always great. I always like a new
- 24:13Speaker 2: circuit coming onto the calendar. I even like it more
- 24:16Speaker 2: when we actually go there, because this year we've had
- 24:19Speaker 2: a couple of false starts with some of the others,
- 24:20Speaker 2: and obviously India was on the schedule last year and
- 24:23Speaker 2: they're not coming back on till twenty five. So I
- 24:26Speaker 2: like the fact that there's the potential to have a
- 24:28Speaker 2: Hungarian Grand Prix. We've had a few false starts on
- 24:31Speaker 2: Hungarian Grand Prix over the years. So once we're on
- 24:35Speaker 2: the ground and doing laps of Balloton Park, once Superbikes
- 24:38Speaker 2: has been there about a month before next year, then
- 24:40Speaker 2: I will share your excitement. But I'm putting an asterisk
- 24:44Speaker 2: on my excitement at the moment because I love all
- 24:46Speaker 2: these new tracks, but it's even better when we actually
- 24:48Speaker 2: turn up to them, isn't it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I just want the Kazakhslan crandfrie to happen because I
- 24:53Speaker 1: just want all the Borat memes to come out.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Oh my god, my Kazaks.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Everyone's already saved those up. They've just had to on
- 25:00Speaker 2: the Black Burder. But I always think of all these
- 25:02Speaker 2: other races that get announced. It happened like the Finish
- 25:04Speaker 2: Scrand Prix at the Kimmi Ring, which was one of
- 25:06Speaker 2: those ones that was always on the calendar, and then
- 25:08Speaker 2: it kept coming off the whole time. So yeah, we'll
- 25:11Speaker 2: believe it when we see it. But you know what's
- 25:12Speaker 2: strange is that, you know, here we are in the
- 25:14Speaker 2: end of September, we still don't have a calendar for
- 25:16Speaker 2: next year yet, which is super late. Maybe they're a
- 25:19Speaker 2: little bit bitten by the fact that we've had a
- 25:21Speaker 2: few cancelations this year, and you're talking about Massano before.
- 25:24Speaker 2: The Sunday crowd was pretty decent. The rest of the
- 25:26Speaker 2: weekend looked like a test session for the most part,
- 25:28Speaker 2: because let's face it, the only reason we were at
- 25:31Speaker 2: Massano for a second race is to get the calendar
- 25:33Speaker 2: to twenty races, so to fulfill all the broadcast contracts.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I think Moto GP tried to be anywhere else but
- 25:40Speaker 2: Massado for a second weekend and ended up going back there,
- 25:43Speaker 2: which had a few people saying, oh, it's a huge
- 25:45Speaker 2: advantage for Vanyaira and all the VR forty six guys,
- 25:47Speaker 2: which didn't actually turn out that way in the end.
- 25:49Speaker 2: But yeah, I like a new race, but yeah, let's
- 25:53Speaker 2: get there.
- 25:53Speaker 1: First, we have to talk about Moto two, because oh
- 25:58Speaker 1: my god, that was exactly this is why we have
- 26:02Speaker 1: to talk about Moto iiO. First of all, we've got
- 26:04Speaker 1: to talk about Senna our Aussie strong top ten finish
- 26:07Speaker 1: for him. He was P seven, I believe, So I
- 26:10Speaker 1: think that's good. It's another Tanni meter into Q two
- 26:12Speaker 1: as well. So that consistency, like we're talking about the
- 26:15Speaker 1: wohem Martine, is the same thing for sennas is his
- 26:18Speaker 1: rookie year. He can keep learning, keep growing, and then
- 26:21Speaker 1: next year he's going to have all these circuits, all
- 26:23Speaker 1: that experience under his belt. I think he's going to
- 26:26Speaker 1: go in strong next year.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Couldn't agree more. He was just really accomplished the entire weekend,
- 26:31Speaker 2: and behind the scenes he was not feeling particularly well
- 26:34Speaker 2: most of the weekend as well. So super impressive with
- 26:37Speaker 2: what he did. And he just looks more legit now
- 26:39Speaker 2: when you see him in that top ten, Like you
- 26:41Speaker 2: see his name in that top ten amongst all of
- 26:43Speaker 2: these really experienced Motor two guys now and you're like,
- 26:45Speaker 2: all right, Senner's doing well here for a guy in
- 26:47Speaker 2: hiss rookie World Championship season. But it looks accomplished and assured,
- 26:51Speaker 2: and he wrote a really really strong race, got inside
- 26:54Speaker 2: the top ten early never really looked like falling out
- 26:56Speaker 2: of it. Just another boxer tick for him. Steenth in
- 27:00Speaker 2: the World Championship now, but he's been good in the
- 27:02Speaker 2: back half of the season particularly, But we're talking about
- 27:05Speaker 2: it before the end of that Motor two race. My
- 27:08Speaker 2: memory's fading, but I can't think of a better last
- 27:12Speaker 2: lap of a Moto two race for a while, because
- 27:14Speaker 2: when can you say you've watched Motor two race and
- 27:17Speaker 2: the lead changes hands three times in the last three quarters.
- 27:20Speaker 2: It was absolutely ridiculous, fantastic TV. And a lot of
- 27:25Speaker 2: people have watched that category for a long time have
- 27:27Speaker 2: said they can't think of a better Motor two race
- 27:29Speaker 2: because that's often the one that can be a little
- 27:31Speaker 2: bit spread out and a little bit dull of the three.
- 27:34Speaker 2: It was the best race of the weekend.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I think if you haven't watched it, honestly, go and
- 27:38Speaker 1: watch it to not spoil it for you. But Tony Abellino,
- 27:42Speaker 1: he runs wide, then Aaron Kennett basically jumps on and
- 27:45Speaker 1: takes the lead until Vietti gets a slip off that
- 27:49Speaker 1: last corner and those two Kennet Nbeti are drag racing
- 27:54Speaker 1: to the finish line. It is oh I wouldn't be
- 27:56Speaker 1: able to tell you that. It was literally like there
- 28:00Speaker 1: the smallest gap in front that Viti one by you
- 28:03Speaker 1: could just see. Afterwards the celebration Canette was like damn,
- 28:07Speaker 1: like I was so close, but oh what a final
- 28:11Speaker 1: three corners.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Fantastic TV. And then they cut to the shot of
- 28:15Speaker 2: Fabio Cross on the pit wall because Simontoni Abillino are
- 28:19Speaker 2: good mates and I was so close to getting his
- 28:22Speaker 2: first wind of the year and it's not been a
- 28:24Speaker 2: fantastic year for him in the intermediate class, so to
- 28:26Speaker 2: lose it at home with three corners to go, but
- 28:29Speaker 2: Aaron Kennett, my goodness, and we know the guy's finally
- 28:31Speaker 2: won a Moto TiO race, but he must be I
- 28:34Speaker 2: think even know if he wants to keep his second
- 28:35Speaker 2: place trophies. At this point he's probably thoroughly sick of
- 28:37Speaker 2: the side of them because he's got about seventeen of them.
- 28:39Speaker 2: But yeah, just what a last lap that was fantastic.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Also, Moto three, that last lap battle was just insane.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Alonzo Paceras Hogado and Colin Vaya just changing the hands
- 28:52Speaker 1: one after the other, and it's so good to see
- 28:55Speaker 1: that these lower classes, the battles are intense, it's so entertaining.
- 29:00Speaker 2: The well a Motor three this year is the most
- 29:03Speaker 2: uneven of the three series because David Alonso is going
- 29:05Speaker 2: to win this championship before anyone else wins Motor two
- 29:07Speaker 2: or Motor GP. But even with the huge advantage that
- 29:10Speaker 2: he's got, there's two things. One, he's a showman. If
- 29:13Speaker 2: you haven't seen it on social media yet, go and
- 29:15Speaker 2: have a look at his Uni cycle celebration on Sunday
- 29:18Speaker 2: after the race. He's better at riding a Moto three
- 29:21Speaker 2: bike that he is riding a unicycle as a crashed
- 29:24Speaker 2: rider rider okay in the gravel trap afterwards, which was hilarious,
- 29:26Speaker 2: But I reckon Moto three is in a really good
- 29:29Speaker 2: spot at the moment because there's some guys that you
- 29:33Speaker 2: look at that are coming through and jack up. We
- 29:35Speaker 2: mentioned this in a story we've done for Fox Sports
- 29:37Speaker 2: a few weeks ago. There's three or four guys in
- 29:39Speaker 2: that series right now that you can absolutely see being
- 29:41Speaker 2: a Motor GP in a couple of years time, and
- 29:44Speaker 2: not just making up the numbers, like Alonso is kind
- 29:46Speaker 2: of seen as the next Acosta, who is the next
- 29:48Speaker 2: Marquez in that series he's doing things in Moto three
- 29:51Speaker 2: we've never seen before. Colin Faire looks like a motor
- 29:54Speaker 2: GP rider in waiting. To me, he's got every physical
- 29:58Speaker 2: tool in the kit to go up to the PREMI
- 30:00Speaker 2: your class in the future, So exciting times in there.
- 30:03Speaker 2: And the one you didn't mention, of course, in that
- 30:05Speaker 2: mix for the podium as he seems to be all
- 30:08Speaker 2: the time at the moment, is Australias Joel kel so
- 30:09Speaker 2: I finished seventh, but four and a half seconds off
- 30:12Speaker 2: the win, so he was closer the previous time. But
- 30:15Speaker 2: five top tens in a row for Joel, just quietly
- 30:18Speaker 2: and up to eighth in the World Championship. He's looking
- 30:20Speaker 2: really good, isn't.
- 30:21Speaker 1: He same thing what we're talking about with Senna? Right
- 30:23Speaker 1: for these boys. Obviously Joel's been in the World Championship
- 30:26Speaker 1: now for a few more years. But it's that consistency
- 30:29Speaker 1: that's what you need, that's what's going to help you
- 30:31Speaker 1: keep progressing. He's obviously got his right sorted for next year,
- 30:34Speaker 1: so there's no dramas there, but we're signing to see.
- 30:38Speaker 1: I don't know if it's that level of maturity, that
- 30:41Speaker 1: next step from him where he is improving with those
- 30:44Speaker 1: top tens. Could we possibly see him in Moto two
- 30:47Speaker 1: the year after or maybe even following Jack Miller's footsteps
- 30:51Speaker 1: and do that big leap into Moto GP.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Well, that would be a big bridge for Joel.
- 30:55Speaker 2: The thing for Moto three as you see a lot
- 30:58Speaker 2: of these guys come through these teenagers and they get
- 31:00Speaker 2: too big for the bike. They almost look comically big
- 31:03Speaker 2: for the Motor three bike, and you can see like
- 31:04Speaker 2: Altola is a bigger guy, and there's a couple of
- 31:06Speaker 2: guys that are in that category. Joel's going to be
- 31:08Speaker 2: a Motor three size rider for the entirety of Joel's career,
- 31:11Speaker 2: whether he's in MOOTO three or not. So he's definitely
- 31:13Speaker 2: in the right place at the moment. But look really
- 31:16Speaker 2: moving forward, And while we're talking Ozzi's in Moto three, Nita,
- 31:20Speaker 2: we should probably talk about Jacob Rolson as well, because
- 31:23Speaker 2: a couple of seriously big crashes for him on Friday
- 31:26Speaker 2: and twenty first in the race and got an absolute
- 31:30Speaker 2: rocket from Herve Pontreal afterwards. I'm not sure whether you
- 31:32Speaker 2: saw this, but I actually circled this to read to
- 31:35Speaker 2: you today. So Herve Pontreal after the race, said his
- 31:39Speaker 2: level is dropping, probably because of weekly stupid mistakes. Jacob
- 31:44Speaker 2: is a rookie, so he's making rookie mistakes. But we
- 31:46Speaker 2: clearly need to regroup and improve on that point because
- 31:49Speaker 2: he is not where he should be. So it's all
- 31:52Speaker 2: been super positive from Herve so far this year, but
- 31:55Speaker 2: maybe those two crashes on Friday, Herve's patients ran out
- 31:58Speaker 2: a little bit. We know that Sacob's going to be
- 32:00Speaker 2: there next year, so he doesn't worry about next year,
- 32:02Speaker 2: but hasn't had a great result for a while. It's
- 32:05Speaker 2: just had two points finishes in the last six rounds,
- 32:09Speaker 2: so it's definitely gone a bit downhill for him. But
- 32:12Speaker 2: those two accidents on Friday, he looked very sore and
- 32:15Speaker 2: sorry for himself, didn't he.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Do you think that maybe there's like a bit of
- 32:18Speaker 1: pressure getting to Jacob because it's the first year. I
- 32:22Speaker 1: know he was trying to go for a Rookie of
- 32:23Speaker 1: the year, maybe to prove a point because he is
- 32:26Speaker 1: in such a well established known Moto three team. Is
- 32:30Speaker 1: there a bit of pressure sitting on his shoulders at
- 32:32Speaker 1: the moment.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:33Speaker 2: I mean it's interesting that he got his twenty twenty
- 32:36Speaker 2: five deals sorted super early. He's actually had the kind
- 32:40Speaker 2: of season that I thought he might as a rookie
- 32:42Speaker 2: in the World Championship, but in reverse, if that makes sense,
- 32:44Speaker 2: and that I thought he might struggle to get out
- 32:46Speaker 2: of the gate and have a few crashes and beat
- 32:48Speaker 2: himself up while he was finding the level and then
- 32:50Speaker 2: come on stronger as the season goes. He's actually done
- 32:53Speaker 2: it the other way around, and that he was so
- 32:55Speaker 2: good early that it probably raised the expectations a little bit.
- 32:58Speaker 2: And so what he's doing now maybe was how he
- 33:00Speaker 2: would have started a rookie season in some instances. So
- 33:03Speaker 2: on balance, he's probably a little bit behind where he'd
- 33:06Speaker 2: like to be, but not super far. But I think
- 33:08Speaker 2: Montreal's comment is we've seen that he's better than this
- 33:10Speaker 2: because he's already demonstrated it, and least things snowball, you know,
- 33:14Speaker 2: positive or negative momentum. He's just in a bit of
- 33:17Speaker 2: a rut at the moment. So to get out of Europe,
- 33:20Speaker 2: to get to some of the flyaways and you start
- 33:22Speaker 2: afresh with tracks that not everyone has great familiarity with
- 33:26Speaker 2: might be a good thing for him. I sense it
- 33:28Speaker 2: just needs one result. But on Friday at Messano last week,
- 33:32Speaker 2: he just beat himself up so badly with those two
- 33:34Speaker 2: crashes at the rest of the weekend was a bit
- 33:36Speaker 2: of a write off. Having a back to back with
- 33:38Speaker 2: Indonesia this weekend is tough for him, but I think
- 33:41Speaker 2: he will just be He just needs that one result,
- 33:43Speaker 2: steady the ship a little bit and we'll see him
- 33:45Speaker 2: back where he was in the first half.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Of the year.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Well, yes, you did mention there that MotoGP heads to
- 33:50Speaker 1: Indonesia and lucky for us it is in our time zone. Finally,
- 33:54Speaker 1: cannot wait for that. Moto GP have six races in
- 33:59Speaker 1: the next seven or eight weeks, so it's a lot
