- 0:05Welcome to Three guys 6 Balls NFL Podcast Welcome to episode
- 0:0923 Three guys 6 balls NFL Podcast Today we finish up our
- 0:13fantasy rankings with our top ten tight ends, our top five
- 0:17kickers, and our top five defenses.
- 0:20So what do you guys who said top five?
- 0:22If we did 5 defenses and five kickers, I would not have been
- 0:26ready. Where do you guys want to start?
- 0:29You want to start with the kickers, the defenses, or the
- 0:31tight ends. Well, I always have a good tight
- 0:33end, so let's go ahead and start there.
- 0:34OK, you want to save the kickers the main event for last.
- 0:38Yeah. That way when people, when we
- 0:39when we finish doing defenses, people will just turn the show
- 0:41off. That's great.
- 0:42Yeah. OK, so we'll start with our top
- 0:48ten tight ends. So before we start that though,
- 0:51I got to ask, do any of you guys have cow pits in your top 10?
- 0:55We'll find out when we do that, we'll find out.
- 0:57OK, fine. All right, Well, let's start
- 0:59with number one. Will, who do you have as your
- 1:02number one fantasy football tight end this year?
- 1:05OK, before I start, it's not cow pits.
- 1:09Let's start there. OK, Thank goodness.
- 1:11Here's. Here's the problem with tight
- 1:13ends is there really aren't 10 good, good ones in the lake,
- 1:18right? And so, and then it comes and
- 1:22goes every year by like tight end, it's just we're all going
- 1:26to have the same base list. I bet we've got, I bet there's
- 1:2912 different players amongst our three lists and that's just
- 1:32going to where it's at. So Brock Bowers, right?
- 1:35Brock Bowers is number 1. He, he was super good last year.
- 1:39There's no reason to think he won't be super good this year.
- 1:42Look at Pete Carroll's Titans and Chip Kelly's Titans of the
- 1:44past. And that's just what you're
- 1:46going to get in this year. This might be the best Titan
- 1:49ship Kelly's ever had to work with.
- 1:50And so they're just going to get used even more doing him and
- 1:53Ashton Gente and statistically one of the most accurate
- 1:56quarterbacks as the seasons go on.
- 1:58Geno Smith, it's just going to be very successful for him.
- 2:01So Brock Bowers. Avery, do you have Brock Bowers
- 2:03as well? He's not even on my list, dude.
- 2:06OK, quit lying CD Lamb situation.
- 2:14No, he's, yeah, he's my first guy.
- 2:20It's boring, it's so boring, but it's it's just what it is.
- 2:24I have one. I haven't missed my number one,
- 2:27but I did actually have a debate between him and my number 2.
- 2:31I did. Hey, so who's your number two
- 2:34that? Is your #2.
- 2:35My number 2 is Trey McBride. He was one of two tight ends
- 2:39with over 100 catches last year and there's only one other
- 2:43option in that offense as far as a receiving threat and it's
- 2:47Marvin Harrison. There's Marvin Harrison junior
- 2:49and there's Trey McBride and there's there's other guys, yes,
- 2:53who can catch the ball every now and then, but there's not enough
- 2:56guys in that. There's really nobody else in
- 2:57that offense who can take away enough targets from Trey McBride
- 3:01to where I I don't think he's going to have a significant dip.
- 3:05I think he's going to be right up there with where he was last
- 3:08year. I don't disagree.
- 3:10I don't have them this high because there's so few options
- 3:14in that offense. And it's one of these like catch
- 3:1622, we don't have any guys we can stop the the the two guys
- 3:19that we expect anything from, but there's also only two guys
- 3:22who somebody has to put up the points, right, so.
- 3:24Exactly. And we're trying to write the
- 3:26reason I debated whether it's going to be it where he's going
- 3:29to be one or two is because he hasn't had very many touchdowns,
- 3:32especially last year. But I think, you know, if the
- 3:36Cardinals focus on an making an effort to get him more
- 3:39touchdowns, then he could potentially be the number one
- 3:43tight end. And with Brock Bowers, I know
- 3:45he's still going to be great, but you know, the offense is
- 3:48going to have a lot more focus on the run, which could
- 3:50potentially dip into his numbers a little bit.
- 3:53But the same thing like he's really, I mean, Jacoby Myers, I
- 3:57really like him a lot for the Raiders, but I don't think
- 4:00there's another like true like scary threat in that offense
- 4:05aside from Brock Bowers when it comes to receiving.
- 4:07Agreed. I do think from the Raiders that
- 4:09we're going to get a lot of tight end screens and running
- 4:12back screens and things like that to get to get the ball out
- 4:16of Gino's hands quicker and into the playmakers hands.
- 4:19And when it comes to true playmakers, you've really, I
- 4:22mean, there's more than just the two of them.
- 4:23But really, it comes down to Brock Powers and hopefully
- 4:26Ashton Gente, right? So who's your number 2 will?
- 4:31I actually have George Kittle and I have him this high because
- 4:36again, this is kind of the same argument.
- 4:38We're running out of options in San Francisco.
- 4:40Their team is just not as good as it has been.
- 4:42And there's, there's one consistent that has remained the
- 4:45test of time and it's George Kittle.
- 4:47And I, I just think that they're, they're going to get
- 4:49back to what they're good at. If Christian McCaffrey can stay
- 4:54healthy. Christian McCaffrey stay healthy
- 4:57is possibly the best thing for George Kettle because if they
- 4:59run the ball more than they're going to get the ball to tie
- 5:02anymore and it opens up the seam because the linebackers have to
- 5:04step down. It's this whole, the whole
- 5:07thing. It's right.
- 5:08It's, it's the whole thing. And so so if we're thinking
- 5:11Christian McCaffrey is going to stay healthy this year, then I
- 5:13expect George Kettle to have a really good year too.
- 5:15I thought you guys weren't expecting him to be healthy.
- 5:17I don't, but I, you know, I don't know, I do somebody again,
- 5:25somebody has to do something on the 49ers, right?
- 5:28And so it's it's going to be George Kittle all.
- 5:31Right, Avery, do you have either George Kittle or Trey McBride as
- 5:34your number 2 tight end? I.
- 5:36Have George Skittle. OK, I actually have George
- 5:38Kittle as my #3 tight end. Imagine.
- 5:42Fun fact, he actually was the, the number one tight end in
- 5:46points per game last year, but he missed, he missed two games.
- 5:50So that's why he was the, he wasn't ranked number one in
- 5:54overall points, but he was the leader in points per game.
- 5:58So yeah, I've missed my number three.
- 6:01Well, who's your #3 fantasy tight end this year?
- 6:03I have Sam Laporta. I I mean like 2 years ago I had
- 6:10a huge year last year, people knew what his name was, so
- 6:13nobody cared about him anymore, which is the way Titans go,
- 6:15right? Once people know your name, they
- 6:16don't care anymore. And so I don't know, I think
- 6:19that that the Vikings, Nope, wrong team, wrong team.
- 6:23I even have Sam Laporta hyphen Det written down right here
- 6:28right in front of my face. At least he recognized it right
- 6:31away. He knew I was wrong.
- 6:35Sam Porter from Detroit, I think Detroit can have a good year
- 6:37this year that I don't. I don't see anything that that
- 6:41shows them being worse on offense this year than last
- 6:45year. But obviously what they did last
- 6:47year didn't get them to where they wanted to go.
- 6:48So they have to change some game plan and I think that's the game
- 6:53itself is trending more towards running again and running in the
- 6:57football, passing the tight ends, kind of kind of going back
- 7:00to some old school football and the way it used to be.
- 7:01And I think it's going to benefit.
- 7:03Titan is pretty heavy this year. And you've got Dan Campbell up
- 7:07there in Detroit and he loves Smash Mouth football, and you're
- 7:10going to get that out of San Luporia all.
- 7:12Right. Well, Avery, who's your #3
- 7:15fantasy tight end Trey McBride. All right, cool.
- 7:20Well, who's your number? Who's disheartened?
- 7:23Yeah, Trey Mcbray. Yeah, Yeah.
- 7:24We're, we're talking about and we'll move on.
- 7:29It was such a such a mystery as to like who it could have been.
- 7:32Yeah, I know. He was trying to find a way to
- 7:35do a CD lamp thing in there, but he couldn't figure out how to do
- 7:37it this time, so he was disappointed.
- 7:41Yeah, fair enough. All right, well, who do you have
- 7:43as your #4 fantasy tight end? Try to make pride.
- 7:47It is Trey McBride. Yeah, yeah, try McBride.
- 7:52I've got him here. I I don't, I still don't trust
- 7:55Kyler Murray. I don't trust him as far as he
- 7:58can run every step. And so I I don't know.
- 8:01I just don't. He will be.
- 8:04I don't know what what year is he in his career?
- 8:05Is this Year 5? Year 4.
- 8:07Oh, more than that. Oh, there's no.
- 8:09Are you serious? Yeah.
- 8:11Is he even that old? This is going to be year 7.
- 8:17Oh gosh, am I that old? He's just going to be the
- 8:22starter in Arizona for I mean, they're kind of stuck in the
- 8:26same scenario that Dallas is stuck in.
- 8:28So I used to bring them and do it.
- 8:30Your quarterback is good enough to be a starter, but not good
- 8:33enough to get you anywhere you want to go.
- 8:35And so the team's just going to keep having them be the guy.
- 8:39And and that's just where the Cardinals are.
- 8:43I must say. Vikings again.
- 8:44I bet the Vikings stuck in my head.
- 8:46I don't even like the Vikings, especially their quarterback.
- 8:48You just love JJ McCarthy. I don't.
- 8:51I don't anyway. Avery, who do you have is your
- 8:56#4 tight end? Sam LaPorte.
- 9:02Look, this is this is tight ends, right?
- 9:04Like I said, we're going to have there's going to be 12 total
- 9:06guys that are going to be in these lists and and that's
- 9:10maybe. This might be a bit of a
- 9:12surprise. I might have might have ranked
- 9:15this guy a little bit too high. Wait, can I guess?
- 9:17Sure. You've got Travis Kelsey, don't
- 9:21you? It is Travis Kelsey.
- 9:23Yeah, crushed it. My #4 fantasy tight end this
- 9:25year is Travis Kelsey. Now I know last year he
- 9:29statistically he had the worst season of his career in
- 9:33touchdowns in receiving yards, but he still had 97 catches.
- 9:38He was 3 catches away from 100 catches and there was only two
- 9:41tight ends that had over 100 catches last year.
- 9:44When Patrick Mahomes needs a guy, it's Travis Kelsey.
- 9:47He's looking for Travis Kelsey. And it doesn't matter if for
- 9:50fantasy, it doesn't matter if Travis Kelsey is getting 1000
- 9:54yards or if he's getting 823 yards.
- 9:57As long as he's getting those catches, he's gonna have the
- 9:59points. And so I have.
- 10:02I think Chavez Kelsey is gonna have a really good year.
- 10:04I think he's going to do better than he did last year, actually,
- 10:07because I think he is very motivated after they lost that
- 10:11Super Bowl. And so I think that Patrick
- 10:12Mahomes and Travis Kelsey are going to come out and they're
- 10:15going to. Have a little bit of.
- 10:17Fire underneath them and I think Travis Kelsey is going to have
- 10:21AI mean it's not really a bounce back season because he still had
- 10:24a really good season, but I think he's going to have what
- 10:26you could consider a bounce back season for a tight end.
- 10:29And so I have him as my number four guy.
- 10:31I can't believe he only had three touchdowns last year.
- 10:34I know now he didn't play in the final game this season, but
- 10:37still only three touchdowns for him over the year.
- 10:39That's that's crazy. And you know, the last time that
- 10:43Travis Kelsey finished outside of the top five in tight ends
- 10:46for fantasy was in 2015. So he's been in the top five
- 10:50every single year since 2016. And so I think he's going to do
- 10:54it again this year. He was also the third most
- 10:57targeted tight end out of all the tight ends last year.
- 10:59And so I think, again, you know, if Patrick Mahomes needs a guy,
- 11:03he's looking for Travis Kelsey. That's his first guy that he's
- 11:05going to go to every single time.
- 11:07Well, and I I have obviously had Travis Kelce on my list just a
- 11:11bit lower. If you're talking PPR, he had 97
- 11:15receptions last season. That's just 97 free fantasy
- 11:19points. If you're doing 4 point, I mean,
- 11:22it's hard to argue with that. I mean, one game he had 14
- 11:25receptions, he went 14 of 16. My touch, How many?
- 11:28Yards. Did he have that game?
- 11:30100 even. OK, no touchdowns.
- 11:33So 14 points on on target receptions, 10 points on yards.
- 11:40It's hard to argue with those with the fantasy numbers.
- 11:43Now granted, that was just one week, but the.
- 11:46Quarterbacks want their their safety blanket, and Travis
- 11:49Kelsey is going to be that safety blanket as long as he's
- 11:52on that field. Yes.
- 11:53All right. Well, who do you guys have as
- 11:55your number 5 fantasy tight end? David, I got.
- 11:58I got Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews.
- 12:01I think he's after his little performance.
- 12:05Even with those hands, his performance issues.
- 12:08Because of those hands, I think he's going to, I think he's
- 12:12going to make a good return. I think that's the last taste he
- 12:14left in everyone's mouth and he wants to change that.
- 12:17Sorry, I didn't mean to catch you up there.
- 12:19I bet not one Titan has put in more work in the offseason than
- 12:22Mark Andrews. I I bet there's there's some
- 12:25reality to that. I also have Mark Andrews on my
- 12:27list just a bit lower as well. I don't hate it here, no.
- 12:30I actually don't have him on my list.
- 12:33And the reason why is because if you look at his last six games,
- 12:36he had a touchdown in every single one of those.
- 12:38And I just felt like his fantasy value was based off of if he's
- 12:41getting a touchdown or not. And so like, if you take away
- 12:44those touchdowns, his fantasy points are very good.
- 12:48And so I just that's why I didn't rank him in my top 10 is
- 12:50because I felt like he was just kind of touchdown reliant.
- 12:53And you know, maybe he's just good at getting touchdowns.
- 12:55I don't know. But if you take the nose away,
- 12:59yeah, right. That was that was a 2 point
- 13:02conversion. So it's not tick.
- 13:03I think the point sticks unlike his hands.
- 13:11Anyway, will who do you have as your number 5 tight ends?
- 13:14I had TJ Hawkinson. He's my #5 too.
- 13:19Minnesota TJ Hawkinson Listen, don't think that this is a will
- 13:24turning the page on JJ McCarthy because it is not happening.
- 13:28That was my first thought. But do you know what bad
- 13:31quarterbacks need? Safety blankets.
- 13:34Bingo. And and and the weak, the weak
- 13:37boy that is JJ McCarthy. It just needs needs like.
- 13:44He's a sophomore in high school. All right, take 2.
- 13:50This small child comes in to Minnesota.
- 13:54Sweet baby man JJ McCarthy is going to need his his safety
- 13:59blanket and his Binky, which is TJ Hawkinson.
- 14:04He's not going to be able to get the ball to Justin Jefferson,
- 14:07which is why I had them rated lower on my wide receiver duos I
- 14:12had. I didn't, you know, I had them
- 14:13on my duos. You didn't have them on your.
- 14:15Duo and I I have Justin Jefferson's my #4 wide receiver.
- 14:19It's all revolved around JJ McCarthy and him being inept and
- 14:25unable to get the ball down the field.
- 14:27Yeah, I have him as my #5 guy for the same reason.
- 14:30I think JJ McCarthy's going to need a safety net.
- 14:33And, you know, I think Justin Jefferson is still going to be a
- 14:36very valuable fantasy wide receiver.
- 14:39But I think TJ Hawkinson is going to get back to his status
- 14:42of being a top five fantasy tight end like he was in 2022
- 14:45and 2023, especially now with JJ McCarthy.
- 14:48Because, like you said, he needs that safety net.
- 14:50And so when he needs a, you know, a short pass just to get
- 14:53rid of the ball because he has nowhere else to go, it's going
- 14:55to go to TJ Hawkinson. All right, number six suit you
- 14:58guys have is your number six fantasy tight end this year.
- 15:01Every I'll go first to start. I'm just kidding.
- 15:05You go. I got.
- 15:07I got to try to scale. See there.
- 15:09Yeah. I think he's, I think, I mean
- 15:11the Chiefs last year just had AI want to say like a poor
- 15:16offensive year, but they just snuck by every team.
- 15:19It was more just like, we know we're going to get to the
- 15:21playoffs. We're not worried about it.
- 15:23It was just like pure luck. Yeah.
- 15:26Oh, wait. Did you just say the refs on
- 15:27their side are? You are you taking.
- 15:30My political I thought, I thought you didn't believe in
- 15:32that. Who said that was the?
- 15:34Element said that Joel's making stuff off, dude.
- 15:36Joel. Cut is a crack pal.
- 15:41Fun fact here the two games after the Aries tour ended,
- 15:46Taylor Swift's Aries tour ended the two following games, Travis
- 15:51Kelsey put up 27 yards in one and 30 yards in the next.
- 15:54No touchdowns, just did not perform well in the two games
- 15:57following the finish of the Aries tour and in the there's
- 16:00the last game of the season that he played in was on Christmas
- 16:04Day and he did perform well. He had 84 yards in a touchdown
- 16:08on 8 reception. So like like it's super
- 16:11anecdotal and doesn't really mean anything but it is semi
- 16:15coincidental. Yeah, well, who do you have at
- 16:21six? 6 I have David Injoku.
- 16:25OK, honestly, CCTJ Hawkinson, right, You've got the old man,
- 16:32the not officially convicted felon, the washed up, can you
- 16:38pick it? And then the two rookies all
- 16:40fighting for the starting spot and I just don't trust any of
- 16:44them. And like I just said, with JJ
- 16:46McCarthy, go back to incapable quarterbacks need a safety
- 16:51blanket and and here we are. I think it's and and joke.
- 16:55He's not a bad tight end and he's really good.
- 16:58He's going to benefit wildly from this so.
- 17:01OK, yeah, I have Sam LaPorte as my number six, and, you know, I
- 17:05think he's a really good tight end.
- 17:06He did have a little bit of dip in production last year from his
- 17:09rookie season. And I think the reason for that
- 17:11is just because that offense just has so many weapons.
- 17:14There's so many weapons in that offense that I don't think that
- 17:17Sam LaPorte is going to be ranked super high.
- 17:20But I do have them at six because that offense is still
- 17:23going to be dynamic. I know they lost Ben Johnson,
- 17:25but they still have a lot of the same key players.
- 17:29And so I don't see any reason why that offense is going to
- 17:31take a significant step back. And so Sam Laporta is going to
- 17:35still have a significant role for that team, right #7 Who do
- 17:38you guys have as your #7 fantasy tight end?
- 17:41I got Evan Ingram. Me too, shut up, Nope #7.
- 17:47I think, I think him and Bonex are going to be, well, I think
- 17:50Bonex with everybody's going to be magic.
- 17:52And I think, I think Evan will be a recipient of that so.
- 17:57We got Bonex at 7:00 and we got Evan Ingram at 7:00.
- 17:59Do we? Did we?
- 18:01Yep, we had him at 7:00. We all did.
- 18:03Except doesn't sound like Will has Evan Ingram at 7:00.
- 18:06I don't have that we. All did except for will, so not.
- 18:11But just before we get to Wills number 7, Evan Ingram.
- 18:14Two years ago in 2023, he had 114 catches.
- 18:18Last year he was banged up. I just think that Bo Nicks is
- 18:21going to love having a decent tight end.
- 18:24Last year his top tight end had 188 receiving yards.
- 18:28And so the addition of Evan Ingram is going.
- 18:30To be, I'm sorry, on the season. On the season, yes, 100
- 18:35receiving is terrible. Bonex got nothing from his tight
- 18:38ends last year. And so with a guy like Evan
- 18:41Ingram, he's going to love having a tight end who is
- 18:43actually capable of doing something because now he has an
- 18:46additional place to go. He has that safety net that he
- 18:49didn't really have last year. And so between the offensive
- 18:52line and Evan Ingram, I think Bonex is going to take the next
- 18:57step. Even though he had a really good
- 18:59year last year, I think he's going to have another really
- 19:00good season this year because I really like what the Broncos
- 19:03have put around Bonex. Yes.
- 19:05I don't even know what else to say.
- 19:06Just yes. All right, well, who you got?
- 19:10At #7 I have Travis Crown C. That's too low.
- 19:14Probably is. I'm not changing it, but it
- 19:18probably is all right. Well Will, who do you have in
- 19:21#8? I'm not proud of this, OK?
- 19:28It's not cow pits. It's on safety breath.
- 19:31It's not cow pits. I have Tyler Warren,
- 19:35Indianapolis. I don't hate that.
- 19:37I don't hate that. I wait.
- 19:40Who's going to throw him the ball, though?
- 19:42That is the problem, right? I look, this is what number?
- 19:48What, 5 teacher, Hawkinson, 6th, David and Joe, who I guess
- 19:53Travis Scales doesn't really count at 7:00, but here we are
- 19:55at #8 So this is my third 1/2 as my third guy who gets wanted
- 20:01under the same rug of bad quarterbacks need good tight
- 20:05ends, right? And these rookies come in and
- 20:07nobody really knows what they can do yet.
- 20:09Nobody really knows anything about him.
- 20:10Look at Samuel Porter's first year.
- 20:12And so these guys come in and they're like, they're taking a
- 20:14role on fire because nobody really knows what to do with it.
- 20:17And I think they're going to lean heavy on Jonathan Taylor
- 20:20and as we already mentioned. A good running game is the best
- 20:23for the tight end and so I think I think Tyler Warren has a good
- 20:27shot of having a good season because of how much they're
- 20:30going to have to use Jonas and Taylor.
- 20:32OK, yeah, I don't hate that at all.
- 20:34Before we get to Avery's number 8, I have a question for you
- 20:36guys about Tyler Warren. What are the chances that Tyler
- 20:40Warren has the same type of rookie season as Brock Bowers?
- 20:43Very low. Yeah, Blow.
- 20:46I know just because of the quarterback or.
- 20:48I think it's, I think it's the whole team.
- 20:50Because the Raiders were bad last year.
- 20:51Right, but the Raiders didn't have a good run game color,
- 20:54which you will. They didn't really have a good
- 20:55they didn't really have a good anything except for Brock
- 20:58Bowers. Can the the Colts have a proven
- 21:01run game? I I was going to say
- 21:02quarterback. It's a some of them, but you
- 21:04can't say that, right? You've got statistically 2 worst
- 21:06quarterbacks in the league over the last few years on that team
- 21:09between AR5 and what is it, Daniel Jones 6 or whatever, DJ 6
- 21:16Danny Dimes. Yeah, sure.
- 21:18Just you just got it's worse or worser.
- 21:22It's really you're too hard about that.
- 21:24And so Brock Bowers quarterbacks were garbage.
- 21:28Though. Right.
- 21:29But again, it comes back to they didn't have any other options
- 21:33except for Brock Bowers. The Colts have Jonathan Taylor.
- 21:39Am I saying yeah, I keep saying his name.
- 21:41It keeps sounding wrong. Anyway, they keep they have
- 21:45drums and Taylor and so they're going to rely on the run game.
- 21:47They don't have to rely on Tyler Warren.
- 21:50They they can rely on somebody else and have have Tyler Warren
- 21:55or I don't know if I name a cold receiver off the top of my head
- 21:59right now. I almost said Ty Hilton and
- 22:01that's not it. Ty Hilton.
- 22:03Yeah, Ty Hilton. That's a long.
- 22:05Time ago. Yeah, that was years ago.
- 22:08Basically have Marvin Harrison senior house.
- 22:09They're still catching them. All right.
- 22:11Dallas Clark, all those guys. Pink Manning.
- 22:15So I started paying attention to the Colts.
- 22:18They did actually have 3 receivers who had over 800 yards
- 22:21last year. Just a fun fact.
- 22:23Who threw them the ball? Curtis Painter.
- 22:27Anthony Richardson was out there for I think 11 games.
- 22:30OK. And there's still 6 more than in
- 22:32the season, Joe. Flacco.
- 22:35It was Joe Flacco. Oh, you're right, it was Joe
- 22:37Flacco. Now he is leading the charge in
- 22:39Cleveland. Is he listening to their starter
- 22:41right now? Yes.
- 22:43Currently. Yeah, yes, he is.
- 22:46He was the before mentioned old man.
- 22:48Yes, yes, I picked up on that. All right, Avery, who is your #8
- 22:54fantasy tight end this year? Colston, Loveland.
- 23:03I. Think Will's going to not Yeah,
- 23:05Will doesn't like that one because just side note, side
- 23:09note, side note, one of our friends from Cheese Heads in the
- 23:12Bear podcast was listening to our podcast just a few hours
- 23:15ago, actually, And he texted me and he was like, dude, how does
- 23:19Will have Javonte Williams at #7 but he thinks Caleb Williams is
- 23:23a bad quarterback. Tell him you made the mistake of
- 23:29believing. That shout out, Brennan, shout
- 23:31out. Brennan reason to to all this.
- 23:33All right, Avery, why is he? Why is he your number 8 guy?
- 23:36I think he's good. No, I I think having Caleb
- 23:40Williams, I think having Colson Loveland, he's definitely not a
- 23:44not as much of A blocker. I think he's going to be a
- 23:46better vertical threat and I just like rookies for some of
- 23:50these fantasy positions just because I feel like they have
- 23:53one year before everyone figures them out.
- 23:56You can use them a little bit better.
- 23:57Absolutely. Yeah, kind of like the same
- 24:00thing with Sam LaPorte. Like he had a really good rookie
- 24:02year and then he kind of took a little bit of a dip last year,
- 24:05even though he was still very productive.
- 24:06He just didn't have the same kind of stats 'cause people kind
- 24:10of like knew what he was going to do a little bit more so.
- 24:13Didn't I just say that like a minute and a half ago?
- 24:16Say what? Sorry, I'm not here.
- 24:17Keep going, keep going. Keep going.
- 24:23Yeah, I I think it's also that I think it's the the fact that
- 24:27they're a rookie, like no one really knows what they're going
- 24:30to bring. But also I feel like the fans
- 24:32usually end up clamoring for their rookies to play.
- 24:35Like they get excited seeing them drafted and they want to
- 24:37see them in action rather than wait a few years.
- 24:40And especially for Strong. First round tightness.
- 24:43First round skill positions I think people are more lenient
- 24:47with a well semi lenient with a quarterback.
- 24:49But first round skill positions you want to see your receiver in
- 24:53there. I can't imagine how much
- 24:56Cardinals fans were screaming just to throw Marvin Harrison
- 24:59the ball no matter what. Doesn't matter still, just just
- 25:02give it to him. And the same with these running
- 25:04backs, Like, like every play, every time the ball doesn't go
- 25:08to Ashton Gente, there's going to be a Raiders fan saying, why
- 25:11do we even draft this guy? It would have gone to him 10
- 25:13times in a row. And on the 11th, he's taking a
- 25:17break, he's on the bench, getting some water for a second,
- 25:19he's in the game. Why do we draft this guy?
- 25:22And then they'll throw it to Brock Bowers and he'll be like,
- 25:24OK, OK, that's fine. Yeah, just the way it goes.
- 25:27Die hard fans. All right, I like the rookies in
- 25:29there. All right, well, let's get to #9
- 25:32Who's your? Wait, did you say you're #8
- 25:34Joel? No, I didn't.
- 25:36I was going to skip myself. Well, I don't.
- 25:38It's reminding me I have David and Joko at #8 and the reason I
- 25:42have him at #8 is just because I am not sure about the
- 25:46quarterback position at all. Like, I know Joe Flacco is
- 25:50probably going to be the starter for the first few games, but I
- 25:52don't know how long he's going to be in there.
- 25:54I don't know how long Joe Flacco is going to be the starter for
- 25:56the Browns. How long is it going to take
- 25:58before his shooter Sanders or before it's somebody else?
- 26:01And I just like, you know, one guy like Joe Flacco could really
- 26:05like David and Joku. One guy could really like Jerry
- 26:08Judy. So I just don't know who the
- 26:10preferred target is going to be for each quarterback when they
- 26:14get in the game because at some point the Browns will have a
- 26:16different quarterback in the game.
- 26:18It's not going to be Joe Flacco the whole season, in my opinion.
- 26:20So I just I'm just not sure who is going to favor in Joku and
- 26:25who's not. And so that just, I think he's
- 26:29going to be really good still. I just that's why I have him
- 26:31ranked a little bit lower. I don't like that you went to
- 26:35Sanders over telling Gabriel. Neither do I.
- 26:37So I just wanted that to be in. I wanted it to be noted.
- 26:41That Joel hates the dust in your in your.
- 26:45That we disapproved of that. Joel loves Shudora Sanders.
- 26:49You heard it here first. I was just going for popularity.
- 26:52OK, I want to be popular. Well, you're going to put a clip
- 26:55out should your standards brown starter and that is just you
- 26:58saying that at some point he may start.
- 27:01I'm actually going to click you saying that right then.
- 27:07That's in the chat for me. All right #9 where is your #9
- 27:12fantasy tight end? Coast in leveland.
- 27:15Nice. Yeah, 2 rookies.
- 27:18I got 2 rookies back-to-back, 8:00 and 9:00 for all of the
- 27:21things that were already said, right?
- 27:23Like, like Chicago is going to suck.
- 27:27And so they're going to need, again, we've got little boy JJ
- 27:30McCarthy and slightly older adolescents Caleb Williams.
- 27:35They're going to need their pacifiers and their baby
- 27:37bottles. And these young tight ends are
- 27:39going to be giving it to them. So here we are.
- 27:41Daddy's home. Give the ball to your tight
- 27:43ends. All right, Avery, how about you?
- 27:45Who's your number 9? Tyler Warren for the same.
- 27:53Reason I didn't put either of those guys in my top ten because
- 27:56I felt like my my 9 and 10 are kind of picks that I don't feel
- 27:59like people are going to like very much, but I feel like these
- 28:02guys are going to have productive seasons.
- 28:04So my #9 is Jake Ferguson for the Dallas Cowboys.
- 28:09And I just think that, oh, go ahead.
- 28:11As I thought about putting them on my list, but after putting
- 28:14Jovante Williams at #7 I felt like I could not possibly put
- 28:18Jake Ferguson in my list. Yeah, I just feel like that with
- 28:22George Pickens. He's not only going to open
- 28:24things up for CD Lamb, but he's going to open things up for Jake
- 28:27Ferguson as well. George Pickens is going to open
- 28:30up things over the top, CD Lamb's going to open things
- 28:33everywhere, and that's going to open things up for Jake Ferguson
- 28:36in the middle. And so I feel like as long as
- 28:38Dak Prescott is healthy, that's really the key.
- 28:40As long as he's healthy and he's not playing like absolute
- 28:43garbage like he was last year when he was healthy, the the
- 28:48Cowboy, I mean, the defense is just going to be bad.
- 28:50So the, the Cowboys are going to be throwing the ball a lot
- 28:53because they're down similar to the Bengals last year.
- 28:56And so I think that Jake Ferguson is going to have a nice
- 28:59season in 2023. He actually finished as the 9th
- 29:03tight end in fantasy. And so I think he's going to
- 29:05return to his 2023 fantasy form. And George Pickens is going to
- 29:09help not only CD Lamb in that offense, but Jake Ferguson as
- 29:12well. What will it take for Joe Milton
- 29:16to see this, to see the field this year?
- 29:19Besides that, getting hurt. I don't think he sees the field.
- 29:23There's no way Jerry Jones is paying him that much money.
- 29:25And he's as long as as long as Dak Prescott has that contract.
- 29:30He could be the worst quarterback in the league and
- 29:34Jerry Jones would be like, Nope, I paid him 60 million a year.
- 29:37We're winning the Super Bowl. I mean, his record, Dak's record
- 29:40last year was three and five. Yeah, it was bad.
- 29:43He was bad. Hey, Jerry.
- 29:45Still thought that they could win the Super Bowl.
- 29:47We're in it. He got hurt, I understand that,
- 29:49and he was out for half the season, but still I just, I
- 29:53don't know. I just am not a fan of my own
- 29:57quarterback. And nobody blames you for that,
- 30:01Will. Yeah.
- 30:02Anyway. All right.
- 30:03Are we on 10? We are.
- 30:05Last one. OK, Avery, let's start with you
- 30:09on this one. Who's your number 10 fantasy
- 30:10tight end? All right, so I got I got a guy
- 30:17my 10 spot special. I'm taking a leap of faith here.
- 30:22I think with the incoming quarterback that he's receiving,
- 30:26I think Chig Okonkwo, he's going to have a breakout year.
- 30:32And this has nothing to do with the fact that he was on my
- 30:36brother's podcast several months ago.
- 30:40Nothing to do with that at all. But if he does want to come onto
- 30:44this podcast, I'm sure we can make room.
- 30:47We'd love to have. You.
- 30:48I have you at 10. If you come on this podcast, I
- 30:52will move you to my #10 spot. I will move you.
- 30:54We'll move you up. I'll move you to number one.
- 30:57Just come on this podcast. I won't.
- 31:03Well, now he's not. Going to come.
- 31:04Thanks, Will. Yeah, it's time to personal.
- 31:07He needed, he needed the full sweep.
- 31:09Yeah, I think I think he'll be good.
- 31:11I think it is still a little up in the air, like what
- 31:14Tennessee's offense is going to look like and how they're going
- 31:18to adjust. I'm not even completely solving
- 31:20Cam Ward, but I think if he does well, I think Jig does really
- 31:25well as well. Really well as well.
- 31:26Yeah, I think he's going to be the security blanket like we've
- 31:29talked about several times. So I think he could have a nice
- 31:32season. I didn't put him in my top 10,
- 31:33but I think he could have a better season than he's had so
- 31:36far in his career. So, well, who's your number 10
- 31:39fantasy tight end? I have Mark Andrews.
- 31:44There's the idea. I the only reason I don't have
- 31:48him hired. No, of course not.
- 31:49The only reason I don't have him hired anyway.
- 31:57Let's talk more about Kyle Pitts.
- 32:00I swear to if you have Kyle Pitts, I'm going to leave.
- 32:02I'm just going to. I'm going to end the call and
- 32:04leave anyway. The only reason I don't have
- 32:09Mark Andrews higher is because Isaiah likely, he's getting more
- 32:12and more and more playing time and when he's in, he gets the
- 32:15ball more. And so you can't throw the ball
- 32:17to two tight ends consistently all season. 1 of them is going
- 32:22to take over. And I fear that his minor
- 32:27receiving problem that the end of last season are going to have
- 32:31a carryover effect into this season.
- 32:34And he lost trust by Lamar Jackson.
- 32:37Minor. I hardly know her.
- 32:42Nice. All right, you guys ready for my
- 32:46#10 fantasy tight end? Do it, I dare.
- 32:48You we need to take a guess. My #10 don't say it.
- 32:52Yes, don't say it yet. Don't say it yet.
- 32:53Don't say it yet. OK, OK, OK.
- 32:56You got TJ Hawkinson cowpits. I already said take you TJ
- 32:59Hawkinson. Oh, you didn't?
- 33:00Is it really cowpits? No, it's not cowpits.
- 33:03And it's not Hawkinson. It's not Hawkinson though.
- 33:06I have, I have Hawkinson, it's #5.
- 33:09Oh yeah, it will be. It will be.
- 33:12Has this name been said already? No Dallas, no go, dirt.
- 33:16Nope. Oh, is it Otto?
- 33:18What's his name? Oh, it's Tucker Kraft.
- 33:20It's Tucker Kraft. Nope, it's not.
- 33:22And it's not Kate I. Well, then it's wrong, so
- 33:24whatever you have to say, I don't.
- 33:26Really. He's a tight end in the NFC
- 33:29East. Oh, it's it's no, yes.
- 33:33Zach Ertz. Yes.
- 33:35It is Eckerts. I was kind of surprised that his
- 33:38stats from last year, so he finished as the 7th overall
- 33:41tight ended fantasy and he was ninth in points per game.
- 33:44And we've kind of talked about this already too, is with Terry
- 33:47Mclaurin not being there for the Commanders wide receiver.
- 33:50One is Debo Samuel. That seems like that Jaden
- 33:54Daniels is going to need a security blanket to me.
- 33:58A real receiver is the receiver that your other receiver tells
- 34:02you not to worry about. It's just a tight end.
- 34:06Demo Samuels looking a little chunky out there.
- 34:09Dude, he looks slow as hell. And some of these, these
- 34:12practice videos, I like we've talked about these media teams
- 34:17gassing these players up and I, some of these that they put out,
- 34:23they've purposely got to be trying to get these players
- 34:26knocked back down like that, that one of Devo Samuel running
- 34:30that wheel or whatever round it was post Craftsman.
- 34:32I don't remember what it was, but he did not live very fast.
- 34:36And it was just like this is not really what you want here.
- 34:40OK, Since we're kind of getting a little bit low on time, let's
- 34:44go through our top five defenses fairly quickly.
- 34:47I mean, there's not a whole lot to say about defenses here, but
- 34:50Avery, we'll start with you on this one.
- 34:51Who is your number one? Goes?
- 34:55Who's not Joe? Who's your number one?
- 35:03For the Denver Broncos. Dang it.
- 35:06You didn't leave the. Number one fantasy defense this
- 35:09year, I, I wanted to put them at 2:00 because I'm going against
- 35:14myself here with the statistics and history, because there's
- 35:18never been, at least since 2001, there's never been a defense
- 35:21that has repeated as the number one defense in back-to-back
- 35:25years. Not one time.
- 35:28I just think the Broncos defense is special.
- 35:31I you know, they're really good at sacks.
- 35:33They're really good at getting turnovers.
- 35:35They're really good at just making things hard for the
- 35:38opposing offense. And you know, this, this defense
- 35:42does have to face the Chiefs twice.
- 35:44They have to face the Raiders twice, who are going to be
- 35:46significantly better. They have to play the Chargers
- 35:48twice. And so none of those games are
- 35:50going to be easy. They also have to play the
- 35:52Bengals, the Eagles, Commanders and Packers.
- 35:55So they have a pretty tough schedule.
- 35:57But I think this defense is special.
- 35:59And so I really wanted to not put them at 1:00 just because of
- 36:02the the history and statistics that I usually follow.
- 36:05But I put them at 1:00 just because I think that this is a
- 36:07special defense, right #2 Who's your number 2 fantasy defense
- 36:11this year? Will.
- 36:13The Denver Broncos. Who was your first?
- 36:16Who was your? 1st.
- 36:17Ravens. Ravens.
- 36:20I got the Eagles. I have the Minnesota Vikings,
- 36:25they tied for the most takeaways last season.
- 36:27They're also fourth in sacks. And you know, I don't know how
- 36:31this offense is going to be, but if the offense can be just like
- 36:34any amount of decent, then I think the defense is going to be
- 36:38similar to what it was last year.
- 36:40Right #3 Who do you got at 3 Will?
- 36:43I have the Houston Texans. I know I said it was on purpose.
- 36:49My 3. Yep, here's your #3 defense.
- 36:52Ravens. I have the Pittsburgh Steelers
- 36:56because they were also tied for the most takeaways last season.
- 36:59And you know, their their offense is, I don't really know
- 37:03what their offense is going to be.
- 37:04I don't think it's going to be great.
- 37:05I think it could be average, but the Steelers defense is used to
- 37:08working with a below average offense and so I don't see any
- 37:13reason why they can't repeat the success they had defending me.
- 37:17You don't think is that the Aaron Rodgers LED George Pickens
- 37:22less Steelers offense is going to be amazing?
- 37:25No, I'm. Telling you that the Will Howard
- 37:27LED Steelers offense is not going to be amazing.
- 37:29You shut your whore mouth. It was your #4.
- 37:38It was your #4 fantasy defense. Me.
- 37:42The Vikings. That's who I have.
- 37:45I have the Baltimore Ravens. I really like what the Ravens
- 37:48did this year to address their secondary because they ranked
- 37:5111th in fantasy points last year.
- 37:53They were the number one rushing defense, but their secondary was
- 37:57not very good. And they made some moves to
- 37:59address that defense like signing Jair Alexander and they
- 38:03signed or they drafted Malachi Starks in the first round.
- 38:06And so I think they made some moves to address that secondary.
- 38:09And so I think that defense overall is just going to be
- 38:11pretty solid. So I put them at 4.
- 38:12It also helps that they have Derek Henry and Lamar Jackson,
- 38:15and so you know they're probably going to allow less points than
- 38:19some other defenses because they're not going to be on the
- 38:21field as much because you have those two guys on offense who
- 38:24are just taking up the clock by running the ball.
- 38:27All right #5 who's your number 5 fantasy defense?
- 38:32The the Eagles. Has it the Eagles?
- 38:34I wish. Desert Eagles will probably be
- 38:38better defense than honestly I wouldn't.
- 38:40Stop a lot of people. I'd take.
- 38:42The Eagles over the Eagles I have the I have the lions the.
- 38:49Lions. Yeah, it was between them and
- 38:52the Lions. And I decided to go with the
- 38:54Lions. I think they're they're on a
- 38:57revenge tour. I think they're pissed at the
- 39:00the Redskins, the Washington Redskins, and I think they're.
- 39:06I don't know who that is. It replaced the Redskins with
- 39:13the Commanders, the people that eliminated them.
- 39:16That's. Actually, they replaced the
- 39:18Redskins with the football team. They went from Redskins.
- 39:23Too we're. Not going to have a name.
- 39:25Actually, we're just going to take a couple years time out.
- 39:27We just won't have a name. This is our punishment.
- 39:30We did the same. Now we won't do a thing.
- 39:32And then what plays with the commanders, the guys who wipe
- 39:35them out? And then once we get the
- 39:37commanders as her name, we're still going to keep our logo as
- 39:39just AW, yeah. Well, they can't have AC, that's
- 39:45trick ago. Yeah, but you can't just have
- 39:50AAW. What's wrong with the W?
- 39:53Go on, I'm listening, Will. Starts with W, that's what's
- 39:58wrong with it. Get fricked, pal.
- 40:00It's will. It's will will.
- 40:05OK, I have the Houston Texans. I have the Houston Texans as my
- 40:09#5 defense. They ranked #5 last year they
- 40:12tied for the 4th most sacks and they had the fifth most
- 40:15takeaways. So I think they're going to be a
- 40:17really good defense again this year.
- 40:19They've got some really good players.
- 40:20They have Derek Singly, junior in the secondary, they've got
- 40:24Will Anderson. He's one of the most young
- 40:28dynamic players in the league right now on defense.
- 40:30So I think they're going to be really good, just like they were
- 40:33last year. All right, you guys ready for
- 40:35the main event? Top five fantasy kickers?
- 40:38Now, before we start going down the list, do kickers matter in
- 40:43fantasy? Yes, absolutely they do because
- 40:47they are on your team and they can give you points or they can
- 40:49take points away from you. It's actually a really good
- 40:51point. Thank you, I made it.
- 40:55So I went back over the last five seasons and I looked at the
- 40:59the average point differential between the number one kicker
- 41:03and the number 10 kicker. And I only used kickers that
- 41:05played at least eight games for this step.
- 41:07But on average over the last five years, the difference in
- 41:11points between the number one kicker and the number 10 kicker
- 41:14is 1.96 points per game, which can win or.
- 41:18Lose you a game, A championship. Yes.
- 41:22So even though it's only an average of two points between #1
- 41:25and #10 kickers do matter in fantasy.
- 41:29Yeah, my fantasies. They play a large part in my
- 41:34fantasies. All right, who is your #1
- 41:40fantasy kicker this year? Let's help you go first this
- 41:44time, OK, Well, you. Have to ask who used?
- 41:47Me, I was doing it. I'm doing the thing.
- 41:49OK, You know what? For that Avery, who's your
- 41:52number one kicker this year? Oh geez.
- 41:54OK. Damn little.
- 41:57Oh my golly. Little #1.
- 42:01I have. I have probably the best this is
- 42:04out of all the positions we've done, I think Kickers is the one
- 42:07that I feel the most confident about.
- 42:09I think this is the I think but GMs would pay for this list.
- 42:15He kicks. 170 yard field goal and he's the number.
- 42:17One kicker. I also think that we talked
- 42:20about pre season not really mattering for stat wise.
- 42:23I think kicker and punter are the only two positions where
- 42:26your pre season actually matters for making a team or not.
- 42:29Especially if you're in like a kicking competition where you
- 42:31might not make it. You can you can make up for a
- 42:35lot of staff in practice, but in practice as a kicker or a
- 42:38punter. Not saying it's easy.
- 42:40I'm not saying either position is easy, but you don't get the
- 42:43same level of of quality because you're not, even if your team is
- 42:49rushing, no one, no one on your practice squad is rushing to
- 42:52knock you out, right? You're not really rushing to to
- 42:55do that. But in a preseason game, they're
- 42:58trying to stop you from scoring points because those guys are
- 43:01actually trying to make the team.
- 43:02Still. If you're doing special teams,
- 43:04they're trying to make the team and make sure they have they
- 43:06have a paycheck coming. And so kicker and punter are
- 43:09really the only two in the preseason that I think actually
- 43:12matters. So when, when Cam Little, right?
- 43:15That's his name. Yes, Lil Cam.
- 43:17Yeah. Yeah, when Lil Cam when when Lil
- 43:22Cam 2025, actually probably Lil Cam 70.
- 43:25I would be he should change his number to 70.
- 43:27That's beside the point. When he hit that field goal, I
- 43:29went, oh, you just secured. If you didn't have it already,
- 43:33you just secured the roster spot for sure.
- 43:35There's no way they're going to let you go now anyway.
- 43:37Joel, who do you have as your number one kicker?
- 43:39I have Brandon Aubrey. I also have Brandon Aubrey.
- 43:44Whatever ruined it for me, Avery.
- 43:46I don't think anyone was surprised by that.
- 43:49OK, well, it's not just because I'm a Cowboys fan, it's because
- 43:52he's an actual weapon on its boat.
- 43:55And, and there was no, there was no universe where that led to
- 43:58any other answer. It's the best kicker and he's on
- 44:02Dallas. That's my point.
- 44:03That's right. There's no mystery.
- 44:05About it, you're absolutely right.
- 44:06Brandon Aubrey is a an actual fantasy football weapon.
- 44:11In 2023 he was the number one kicker.
- 44:13In 2024 he was the second highest scoring kicker, but he
- 44:17made the most 50 plus yard field goals last year.
- 44:21He is a weapon. He can win you a fantasy game.
- 44:25All the Dallas offense has to do is get to the 50 yard line and
- 44:29Brandon Aubrey can kick it through the uprights.
- 44:31That's all they have to do. They don't even have to be good.
- 44:34Even when the Cowboys were trash on offense last year, Brandon
- 44:37Aubrey was a fantasy football weapon because all they had to
- 44:40do was get to the 50 yard line. He's a weapon in my fantasies.
- 44:45Big. Weapon.
- 44:48Well, with the nickname Mike Burger, he's making sure it's
- 44:50all nice and ready for you. Also, the nickname Bugger is
- 44:53just so good. I love it.
- 44:56All right, Joel, who do you have as your number 2 fantasy kicker?
- 44:59I have. Chris Boswell from the
- 45:01Pittsburgh Steelers as my #2 fantasy kicker.
- 45:03Wow, you are home and real hard right now.
- 45:06Who does in Pittsburgh? Who they're in the best.
- 45:11Why is that, Joel? He was the number one kicker in
- 45:14fantasy last year. He attempted the second most
- 45:17field goals in the league and he probably will again this year
- 45:20because I don't have confidence in that offense to be a
- 45:25high-powered offense and he kicked the third most 50 plus
- 45:28yard field goals last year so. Yeah, Avery #2.
- 45:32I got Cameron Dicker. I don't even know what team
- 45:37plays for, but I've got him. Oh, kept well, got him at
- 45:40number. Two Chargers isn't he actually
- 45:43didn't write kickers down, the positions down or the teams
- 45:46down. I wrote the position down.
- 45:48I didn't write the teams down. Well, I ranked him at #2 before
- 45:51I saw the rankings, and then I saw that he was really good
- 45:54anyways, So I'm like, oh, we'll shoot right, because he stays
- 45:57there. But Dicker?
- 45:58I got Dicker at #2 Cameron Dicker.
- 46:01How about you will? Who's your number 2 fantasy
- 46:03kicker this year? Oh, I've got Jake Bates.
- 46:06I guess he's fine. Detroit's going to be good.
- 46:09They're going to score a bit super.
- 46:11Confident in that look. It's because we're talking about
- 46:13kickers. We're wasting Americans and
- 46:16maybe others valuable time talking about crazy.
- 46:20Kickers. We just said that kickers
- 46:23matter. Look, you think America watches
- 46:25this? Here's the thing.
- 46:27I think people in America watch it exclusively accidentally.
- 46:30People from any other actually Joel is do you have family not
- 46:34in America who watches this? He's probably got some Aussies
- 46:36spying. Aussies in their.
- 46:37VPN. VPN anyway, yeah, I got Jake
- 46:46Bates, whatever, let's move on. Joe, who do you have #3?
- 46:50#3 I have the dicker kicker. Yeah, I mean, not for.
- 46:54Any particular reason aside from he attempted the third most
- 46:58field goals last year with 42 and I just wanted to say dicker
- 47:01kicker so. Avery, who do you have at #3?
- 47:04I got Andy Borregales, the rookie.
- 47:09On this list I was. Assuming he's going.
- 47:11To put him on this list. You knew I was, or you were
- 47:14going to. I knew you were happy.
- 47:16I actually, I actually had a note here to ask you if he was
- 47:19on your list before we started this.
- 47:21And I forgot because I I just had a feeling you were going to
- 47:24put him on the list. If you would ask me that, I
- 47:26might have just switched it and said no, I'm like, shoot, I got
- 47:31no. But I think I think Drake May is
- 47:35going to do really well, but I don't think he'll do well
- 47:37enough. And I think Boda Galas is going
- 47:39to have to kick some little field goals for them.
- 47:43So I think they're going to rack that up because I don't think,
- 47:46for whatever reason, I think New England's going to have poor red
- 47:49zone offense because that would be convenient for me since I
- 47:53have Andy at 3 so he can kick those field goals.
- 47:56All right, well, how about you? Who's your #3 fantasy kicker?
- 47:59I have Jake Elliott. I I actually don't think the
- 48:03Eagles offense is going to be as good as it was last year.
- 48:06And so it's an open up more opportunities for field goals
- 48:08and yadda, yadda, yadda, consistency.
- 48:11Super Bowl champion. Enter all of the things kicker.
- 48:15Why kick? Why kick a field goal when you
- 48:16can do the tush push? Yeah, you're not wrong.
- 48:20That's that's the end of it. You're just not wrong.
- 48:24Yeah, I mean, it's also possible that they have even less field
- 48:27goal attempts. They have a very starstrated
- 48:29offense that should be able to score touchdown every time, but
- 48:34if every drive you're getting minimum one point from your
- 48:37extra point over and over and over again, that's still pretty
- 48:41damn good all. Right number. 4 Joel, who do you
- 48:44have #4 Right after I was doing the same.
- 48:47I have Buccaneers kicker Chase McLaughlin.
- 48:51He attempted the 4th most extra points last year and I know that
- 48:55only gives you one point every time you make it, but when you
- 48:57kick more extra points, you're going to get more fantasy points
- 49:01and I think the Bugs offense is going to be better than it was
- 49:04last year. And he ranked 6th last year in
- 49:07fantasy points by one point. And so he was almost in the top
- 49:10five last year. I think he's going to be in the
- 49:12top five this year because that offense is going to be dynamic
- 49:16in my opinion. In his entire career since 2019,
- 49:20McLaughlin has only ever missed 1 field goal from inside 40
- 49:24yards. That's pretty good.
- 49:26That's pretty good. No, not not counting extra
- 49:28points, but. He's missed extra points.
- 49:32He has missed 4 total extra points in his career, two of
- 49:36them coming last year. But you know, that's.
- 49:39The Bucks will score two extra touchdowns this year, so he can
- 49:42get those back. Or 12 point conversion?
- 49:49Avery, who do you have a number for?
- 49:51I got Matt Gay. Spit on my arm.
- 50:05I spit on my computer. You have to leave this in.
- 50:16Local professionals doesn't mean we can't have fun.
- 50:22Washington kicker Mackay What's funny about that humor?
- 50:27That's funny. You didn't even say, you just
- 50:32said his name. I.
- 50:34Think that's why no. Follow up at all?
- 50:39I don't even, I don't even remember what team he plays for.
- 50:43Washington. Oh yeah.
- 50:46He didn't even want him on your list.
- 50:47She just wanted to say his name. How?
- 50:50Dare you excuse? Me of such.
- 50:53Something like that. Hey, we're going to an in depth
- 50:59analysis. Why is Matt Gay right where you
- 51:02placed him? Oh.
- 51:08He placed from. Washington and I think they're
- 51:10we're going to kick a good field goals.
- 51:14When Devo Samuel is your number one wide receiver, you just have
- 51:16to kick. Yeah, he'll drop a lot of third
- 51:18down conversions and Matt Gay will be there.
- 51:21Unless he thinks it's a burger, then he might catch it.
- 51:24Yeah, well. Cheeseburger spiral all.
- 51:28Right. Well, how about you?
- 51:30Here's your #4. I don't have Matt Gay,
- 51:33unfortunately. I do have Cameron Dicker in
- 51:36between Dicker in between Dicker and Gay.
- 51:38But there's going to be a lot of field goals made this year
- 51:41anyway. Joel, who do you have at #5?
- 51:42This is where I have Cam Little and to be honest I did not have
- 51:46him on my list until he made a 70 yard field goal in the
- 51:49preseason. But similar to similar to
- 51:53Brandon Aubrey, all the Jaguars have to do is make it to like
- 51:57the 40 yard line and they can score points.
- 51:59So the Jaguars offense does not have to be any good at all.
- 52:04All they have to do is just make it to the 40 and now that they
- 52:06know that he can make that, they're probably going to take
- 52:11some chances in games and kick it from the 40 yard line a lot
- 52:15more often. You think they're going to do
- 52:17that? In certain situations I can see
- 52:19it. No, I think they can kick it.
- 52:21Past No, no not. Once.
- 52:24I don't think they're going to do it like like every time, but
- 52:27you know, there's going to be situations where you know,
- 52:29they're coming up on the half and they have like 20 seconds
- 52:32left and they're on their 2 yard line and all you got to do is
- 52:36just make it to the 40. You don't have to make it to the
- 52:38other side of the field, you just have to make it to the 40
- 52:42yard line. And so I think there's going to
- 52:44be a lot of situations like that where they could be like, hey,
- 52:47we made it through the 40. We might as well just put him
- 52:48out there and just let him kick a 70 yarder and see if he makes
- 52:50it. But they're going to have to
- 52:51change their field goal team because at times he's going to
- 52:55miss that and they're in your run back It it's that the risk
- 52:59is really high as you think it. Is it is.
- 53:02But it's going to get blocked a lot.
- 53:03It's going to be have to be a line, more of a line drive.
- 53:06When you're the Jaguars, you really have nothing to lose by
- 53:09doing that. True, because you already are
- 53:12terrible. Yeah, take the risk, do it so.
- 53:14Then so then the real trouble is just getting to the 40.
- 53:17True exactly. And then not being the Alabama
- 53:21Clemson Tide, another thing, a 99 1/2, well, only a 109 1/2
- 53:26yard kick 6 happened. You remember that?
- 53:29I mean, Auburn ran it back to win the game.
- 53:31I watched that probably at least once a year.
- 53:34Yeah, same on what they use it. ESPN and all the these companies
- 53:38use it as like as like a intro clip.
- 53:42It's used all the time. Good times all.
- 53:46Right. Well, who do you have as your
- 53:47number 5 kicker this year? I have Marcus Aurelius from
- 53:51Indianapolis. The Gladiator.
- 53:53Yeah. Yeah, you got it.
- 53:54OK, great. See, that was the point I was
- 53:56trying to make, is that nobody knows any kickers.
- 53:58I can name anybody I want from history and don't have any idea.
- 54:01He is a former former Roman emperor.
- 54:05No, he's not a kicker at all. I had Chase McLaughlin from
- 54:08Tampa Bay. I did not.
- 54:11I did not pick an obscure enough historical reference.
- 54:17That was good. That was good.
- 54:18I have. Jesus Christ, it's a little
- 54:23Easter egg. No, I was, I was, I was seeing
- 54:28if either of you guys were going to get it.
- 54:30But yeah, no, I I assumed, OK, if you've seen Gladiator, you're
- 54:32going to get that. But and who I've seen I.
- 54:35Was like, I was like, I was going to say, I was like, I've
- 54:38never. Like his.
- 54:39His mother must have loved that movie.
- 54:42It's a wild thing. Name your child today.
- 54:45All right, that wraps up our top ten.
- 54:47I see tight ends. Whoa, what?
- 54:49I didn't even go. Did you not?
- 54:52No, mine was at Marcus Aurelius. Oh, I thought you did.
- 54:56Sorry. I had.
- 54:59Our top 10 from. That movie.
- 55:00Oh no, I had a Harrison Bucker. I just, I think he looks, he
- 55:04seems like a chill dude. I like the way he talks.
- 55:07And on a real note, I think he's got great hair.
- 55:10I think his hair is beard. Dudes rocking it.
- 55:15Absolutely rocking it. And Taylor Swift knows his name,
- 55:18so pretty cool. He's.
- 55:28Spreading family values around the team, I think that's
- 55:30important. All right, well that wraps up
- 55:33our top 10 fantasy tight ends for this season as well as our
- 55:37top five kickers and our top five defenses.
- 55:40I actually want to end with just one question for you guys.
- 55:43And this has something to do with what we talked about last
- 55:45week. It it has to do with what Will
- 55:48asked with the preseason and how players perform in pre season.
- 55:52And I didn't bring this up last week because I wanted to wait
- 55:55and see how this player performed and their first pre
- 55:57season game. So shooter Sanders had a pretty
- 56:01good pre season performance in his start and I want to know, do
- 56:07you guys make anything of that at all?
- 56:09Like, do you think that Shudder Sanders performance in preseason
- 56:12means anything? No.
- 56:14I think he secures his spot above Deshaun Watson on the
- 56:18depth chart. OK, I, I was just wondering
- 56:20because I actually think it means a little bit of something
- 56:23because you know, I know that we kind of decided what we didn't
- 56:27kind of, we did decide last week that, you know, the pre season
- 56:30performances don't necessarily mean anything.
- 56:32However, in the case of somebody like Shader Sanders, I think it
- 56:37means something for him personally.
- 56:39Not not to say like that he's going to be a great quarterback
- 56:44in the NFL or anything, but I think it meant something for
- 56:47Shader Sanders because he's been stuck as the number 4
- 56:50quarterback this whole off season.
- 56:53He hasn't received one single first team Rep and he finally
- 56:56gets his chance to start in the pre season and he performs very
- 56:59well. I think that that means
- 57:02something to shooter Sanders. And so, you know, if he
- 57:05continues to get well, I think I think if he continues to get
- 57:10opportunities like that and he makes the most of that
- 57:11opportunity, that could move him up the depth chart because, you
- 57:15know, you've got Kenny Pickett and Dylan Gabriel who are
- 57:18injured right now, who can't, you know, who aren't getting
- 57:22those reps. And so maybe Shoulder Sanders
- 57:26can move his way up the depth chart because of that
- 57:28performance. So I think it means a little bit
- 57:30of something. Again, not to say that he's
- 57:32going to be a fantastic quarterback in the NFL, but in
- 57:35the opportunity he was given, he performed well.
- 57:39Well, what also means, sorry, we cut you off, but what it also
- 57:42means is that other teams, like they can be looking at him for
- 57:45trade value or we can bring him in as our backup.
- 57:48He's their number 4, but we can bring him in as our number 2 or
- 57:51our number 3. And and chances are, can you
- 57:55pick? It probably goes to the practice
- 57:56qualified, yes, because they're not going to carry 4
- 57:58quarterbacks in the end of the season.
- 58:00And so I would imagine can you pick it gets put to the practice
- 58:04score of the ball, four of them or maybe one of the KP gets cut.
- 58:07I don't think you draft your door and Dylan Gabriel just to
- 58:10cut one of them before the season starts unless you're
- 58:12drafting in the seventh round, right?
- 58:14It was 3 and 5, right? Yeah, three.
- 58:16Yeah, three and five. And so you're, you're doing your
- 58:19best to either move them to a team they're going to be on or
- 58:22to keep them on your team. And so I do think it, it helps,
- 58:27it helps his stock on the team. It, it hopefully helps, turns,
- 58:31turns people's minds toward, OK, maybe he is taking this
- 58:34seriously. Maybe he isn't just riding his
- 58:37dad's coattails, too. Yeah, I agree with Will.
- 58:40I think we talked about this before, but I think we were
- 58:42talking about Cleveland kind of shopping him around, kind of
- 58:46showing him off. I mean, I guess it is, I mean a
- 58:50fortune or I mean, if you got 2 with the quarterbacks already
- 58:53hurt, you know, before the pre season even starts, I mean
- 58:56that's a good sign for you. But also, I mean, if the Browns
- 58:59can kind of figure out who they want or if they have the ability
- 59:03to kind of evaluate all their quarterbacks before they play,
- 59:08meaning, like, do you have a good idea who you think will do
- 59:10the best? Or is it purely just throw them
- 59:13in on Sunday and find out who does the best and then just kind
- 59:16of settle with that? Because I think they're in a
- 59:19weird position where they have some quarterbacks that they can
- 59:21wheel and deal, you know, as far as a trade goes.
- 59:24But this just seems like, I mean, I think the writing was on
- 59:28the wall. I think he was going to start,
- 59:30yet the other guys injured, everyone wants to see him.
- 59:32There's still that buzz around him even though he's a fifth
- 59:35pick. So who knows if I think if if
- 59:37you're the Browns, I think you still keep him though.
- 59:40I like to believe that just the buzz generation creates revenue
- 59:44for the Browns anyways, and that's a good thing.
- 59:47So that all depends on what their priorities are.
- 59:51Yeah, I just wanted to bring that up because we talked about
- 59:54how the preseason games don't matter and how players perform
- 59:57don't matter. But for shooter Sanders, like he
- 1:00:00didn't really have a choice but to perform well.
- 1:00:03Like if he went into the game and started and didn't perform
- 1:00:06well, there's no way he's moving up that deck chart.
- 1:00:10Correct. So I just wanted to to get your
- 1:00:12guys's opinion on that 'cause you know that there's, I think
- 1:00:15there's a little something to be said for a guy who's in that
- 1:00:17situation where he has that pressure on him.
- 1:00:20He hasn't received a first team Rep.
- 1:00:22You know, he was drafted in the fifth round after he was
- 1:00:24expected to go like #2 overall, and then he gets in the game and
- 1:00:28he does well, so good. Good for him, honestly.
- 1:00:31Yeah, no, I, I agree with that. I, I want him to do well
- 1:00:35overall. I I want him to be what he
- 1:00:40thinks he can be because that would be great for the league.
- 1:00:43If he turns out to be some amazing, awesome Mr. cool guy,
- 1:00:47that's better for everyone. That's better for the league.
- 1:00:51It's better for him. It's better for because he's
- 1:00:53such a big name even before that, because it's it's cool to
- 1:00:56have to have the family ties, right, to have, Oh, his dad is a
- 1:01:00really good player now he's a really good player.
- 1:01:03Like it'll be the same thing with Archie Manning, right?
- 1:01:05Like, like the problem with him is that his whole career it's
- 1:01:09going to be here's what Uncle Peyton did, here's what Uncle
- 1:01:11Eli did and here's what wow. And they're friends move.
- 1:01:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:01:17Well, I'm not sure comparing your uncle, you and I, right.
- 1:01:19And you have to win half your games, right?
- 1:01:20Is whatever. So.
- 1:01:24We love nepotism in sports a little bit, mainly because it's
- 1:01:27still, it's still meritocracy. I mean, unless you're brawny, I
- 1:01:30guess. But for the most part, like if
- 1:01:32you make it to the league, like you earned it and it's cool,
- 1:01:35say, oh, your dad was there. And just because your dad was an
- 1:01:37NFL player does not mean that you're going to be an NFL
- 1:01:41player. Like so when it does happen,
- 1:01:43it's always kind of cool. All right.
- 1:01:47Well, that's going to wrap it up for our episode today, but
- 1:01:50coming up on the next few episodes.
- 1:01:51So next week we've we've got our bears fan from Bear Den live on
- 1:01:56the show. So we're going to talk about the
- 1:01:58bears. We also have a undecided topic
- 1:02:02that we're going to talk about. That's this.
- 1:02:04Guy that called me out already, is it the same guy?
- 1:02:08No, that is not the same guy, no.
- 1:02:11We need to have a fight before. We need to eventually have
- 1:02:14Brennan on the show from cheese heads and the bear podcast and
- 1:02:17you guys can you guys can fight about Caleb Williams.
- 1:02:20I. Am willing to spend all week
- 1:02:23this week between today and next Monday when we record again.
- 1:02:27So Tuesday through Friday all my 8 hours a day at work just
- 1:02:33researching about why I need to hate the bears even more.
- 1:02:37So here we go. Wait, what's his name?
- 1:02:39Brennan. No that he's from a different
- 1:02:42podcast, but he's also a Bears fan.
- 1:02:45But his name is Brennan. Yeah, like Colt Brennan.
- 1:02:48Does he ask you to call him dragon?
- 1:02:54Whatever Teak cut, it's from Step brothers.
- 1:03:00It's a lot worse. I I didn't get that. 1 I
- 1:03:03actually. I I got that.
- 1:03:05Neither of you got that. Thank you for clarifying.
- 1:03:07Yeah, I didn't get that one at all.
- 1:03:10Some. Viewers that will appreciate
- 1:03:12that and I, I hope you comment in the chat to show support for
- 1:03:16me. That awkward punch line.
- 1:03:22No one's going to get to this point.
- 1:03:24This is the very end, just left 10 minutes ago.
- 1:03:28Anyways, on some upcoming episodes we're going to talk
- 1:03:31about our predictions for division winners, our playoff
- 1:03:34predictions, and our award winner predictions for the
- 1:03:38upcoming season. We are getting there.
- 1:03:40We're close. So we're almost to the start of
- 1:03:43the regular season. So yeah, three weeks.
- 1:03:46Yep, we're almost there. All right.
- 1:03:49But that's all we have time for today.
- 1:03:51We'll be back next week with Baird and live talk about the
- 1:03:54Chicago Bears. And as always, don't forget to
- 1:03:57keep your balls played with. We'll see you next time.
- 1:04:01Also, Mark Davis's haircut still sucks.
