- 0:02Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, and welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:04Speaker 1: It's another sunny Thursday morning. It's time now for car
- 0:08Speaker 1: Talk right here on K one, the one you trust
- 0:11Speaker 1: and Brad Dungeons in studio.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hey Brad, good morning, Tom, Good morning friends. So glad
- 0:16Speaker 2: you could join us this morning. It's October twenty twenty four.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Who what a party we had last Saturday night out
- 0:22Speaker 2: of Willard.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Did you guys get to that?
- 0:24Speaker 2: Cal Thieves and Outlaws? It was excellent again they always
- 0:28Speaker 2: have quite a show. Good Scott, Kevin Hoak and everybody
- 0:32Speaker 2: puts that on deserves a lot of credit. And that
- 0:35Speaker 2: we're often running for a very busy October. It's crazy
- 0:39Speaker 2: how much is going on this time of year. And
- 0:42Speaker 2: getting ready for the Dewey's Western Heritage Festival Day, and
- 0:47Speaker 2: I know you guys are involved in that, and that's
- 0:51Speaker 2: such a neat event. I remember from when I was
- 0:55Speaker 2: a kid going with my family to the Tom Mix
- 0:57Speaker 2: Museum and how much I loved that as a child.
- 1:00Speaker 2: And you know, the heritage of doing and it's a
- 1:04Speaker 2: connection to rodeo and and all the Western life in
- 1:09Speaker 2: our culture here is such so rich and goes way
- 1:12Speaker 2: back right yes, sir, that's right, and it's right around
- 1:16Speaker 2: the corner here. October twelfth is the big celebration again.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Tell me about what you have planned this year.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Well, this year is we're trying to change things up
- 1:26Speaker 4: as we go make things.
- 1:27Speaker 3: This is a little bit different. Of course.
- 1:29Speaker 5: It starts off at noon on the twelfth with all.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Kinds of activities we've got and mostly and everything there
- 1:36Speaker 4: is free except for the food it kind of vendors.
- 1:39Speaker 4: But as far as the entertainment for the kids, the
- 1:44Speaker 4: bucking bull because everybody wants to figure out I want
- 1:46Speaker 4: to be a bull rider, right, get on that deal
- 1:48Speaker 4: and get your butt booked off. And we've got to
- 1:53Speaker 4: we have several of these bouncy houses. So there's a
- 1:56Speaker 4: lot of other entertainment for the kids that day. Plus
- 2:00Speaker 4: we'll have entertainment all day on the street, different activities
- 2:04Speaker 4: going on that people can uh go to and interact
- 2:09Speaker 4: with it.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Because of the.
- 2:12Speaker 4: The ladies, the group of ladies coming to do line
- 2:15Speaker 4: dancing all two or three times that day. They like
- 2:18Speaker 4: for people come out and line dance with you join
- 2:21Speaker 4: them in because there and they'll give instructions. Uh so,
- 2:26Speaker 4: and we have several bands coming out that will be
- 2:29Speaker 4: take their turns playing different times all day.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Uh.
- 2:33Speaker 4: The one of the active for the kids is a
- 2:35Speaker 4: cowboy dress up. Oh cool, And so that's a contest
- 2:39Speaker 4: that we offer for the kids and it's we do
- 2:42Speaker 4: have prize money form whoever got the best dress cowboy
- 2:45Speaker 4: cowboyl We can't you know, so and that's an activity
- 2:49Speaker 4: we're going to have. Of course, so the fifty to
- 2:51Speaker 4: fifty is always there if we can, and Tom Mix's
- 2:54Speaker 4: grandson will be there to help them talk about stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 4: We will try to get it well. I think we
- 2:59Speaker 4: have a few I don't know, we want to say
- 3:01Speaker 4: this real loud, but we have a few politicians maybe
- 3:04Speaker 4: show up, so we'll try to we'll try to keep
- 3:07Speaker 4: the everybody some of the gunfighters, try to keep them from.
- 3:11Speaker 5: Having live live.
- 3:17Speaker 4: But then then the parade starts at five o'clock, in
- 3:20Speaker 4: which we want to have as many people want to
- 3:23Speaker 4: get into it as possible. That's great. We have a
- 3:27Speaker 4: lot of the entertainers who will be performing that night
- 3:29Speaker 4: at the well worst show, we'll also be in the parade.
- 3:33Speaker 3: So you kind of joined the parade.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Yes, well pretty much, yeah, pretty much.
- 3:40Speaker 4: And and of course so the big feature is at
- 3:43Speaker 4: the last part of the parade is the longhorns trading through,
- 3:47Speaker 4: and so that's always pretty I'm glad they're pretty well broke.
- 3:50Speaker 4: They've done this a lot because there's we'll be got
- 3:54Speaker 4: we've got some exciting. Yes, there's almost one year they
- 3:59Speaker 4: start around that curve right there at the museum and
- 4:02Speaker 4: they decide that wasn't normally that curve, and so you
- 4:05Speaker 4: know that when you got about thirty head long horns,
- 4:08Speaker 4: they got about a six foot spread each one of them,
- 4:10Speaker 4: and all.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Of a sudden, it's it creates traffic jam. They get
- 4:15Speaker 5: a little western there.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Before we've got started, and so and but this year
- 4:19Speaker 4: we're going to do the parade route differently.
- 4:22Speaker 5: We're going to reverse it this year.
- 4:24Speaker 3: It so that way.
- 4:25Speaker 4: Basically, it's going to start up there by the museum
- 4:27Speaker 4: and go east down Main Street to the Highway and
- 4:31Speaker 4: then like the Christmas Parade goes and then back right
- 4:34Speaker 4: along the highway. So the cowboys say, yeah, we can
- 4:38Speaker 4: keep them long horns out of.
- 4:39Speaker 3: The road, but it's a change for them. It's a change.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Hey, this could get western real quick before the show,
- 4:46Speaker 4: so they could be excited. So there might be a
- 4:48Speaker 4: lot of entertainment there before they get beforehand.
- 4:51Speaker 2: And the show is it kind of caps it all off, Yes, sir,
- 4:54Speaker 2: and that kind of harkens back to the to their
- 4:58Speaker 2: Roudio and the original you know fact that the.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Round up show, because really it's not people get the
- 5:05Speaker 4: idea that it's We try to make it more of
- 5:07Speaker 4: a wild West show, not a road deal, because most
- 5:10Speaker 4: everything here is not a competitive deal. We do have
- 5:13Speaker 4: some like stray Gathering, which just shows how the cowboys
- 5:17Speaker 4: doctored their cattle in with our shoots without an open
- 5:21Speaker 4: gray opening, so they're just in the open that gott
- 5:23Speaker 4: to rope them and tie them down so they.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Can work on them with the old ways.
- 5:27Speaker 4: Of course, we have the trick Riders, which is part
- 5:30Speaker 4: of the old wild West show.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Uh.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Sharp shooters, uh we have this year we have an
- 5:35Speaker 4: Indian dancer that will show up, which is fantastic and
- 5:40Speaker 4: you need to see him.
- 5:41Speaker 5: He's does the hoop dance and that is a that
- 5:45Speaker 5: takes a.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Lot of practice, a lot of talent, so it's that'll
- 5:48Speaker 4: be quite entertaining. The uh uh and but we've got
- 5:53Speaker 4: of course, we always got to ride Bronx Cimon, the
- 5:56Speaker 4: Buccan horses is part of it. And this year we're
- 5:58Speaker 4: going to have some uh miniature Bronx and so these
- 6:02Speaker 4: kids that want to ride bucket horses, they're going to
- 6:04Speaker 4: start out with the little horses.
- 6:07Speaker 2: I was so excited to get on with the show here,
- 6:10Speaker 2: but I didn't really introduce you.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Richard Heinrich. Yes, Richard, and welcome to the show.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And Carlota Gordon's here also representing that all the people
- 6:20Speaker 2: that put this on, because I know it's a community wide,
- 6:23Speaker 2: a lot of volunteers involved and everything, So thank you
- 6:27Speaker 2: for yours.
- 6:29Speaker 5: It takes a village.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I know this is it's one of those things.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But it's a great event. I mentioned that, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 2: just going to that museum. If people haven't really connected
- 6:39Speaker 2: with this part of what goes on around here, they
- 6:42Speaker 2: need to go to this event and they'll have a
- 6:44Speaker 2: lot of fun with you young kids especially. It is
- 6:46Speaker 2: a really magical I think, to imagine your life as
- 6:51Speaker 2: a cowboy and the back in the wild West, and
- 6:54Speaker 2: this gives you a chance to kind of.
- 6:55Speaker 4: God, this gives you kind of chance to get into
- 6:57Speaker 4: it to see what was kind of like. It's of
- 7:00Speaker 4: course it's different than it was, but it's still it's
- 7:02Speaker 4: still got the same attitudes, the same as the uh,
- 7:07Speaker 4: the stik of that, that imagination.
- 7:09Speaker 3: That you're going to have.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Yeah, Igina, of course, yeah, the One.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Armed bandit is going to be there.
- 7:16Speaker 3: He'll be trying too.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I think everybody comes to see john to see if
- 7:20Speaker 4: you're gonna fall off that day.
- 7:25Speaker 3: He's way up there.
- 7:26Speaker 6: It is way up there in the pund Yeah, and
- 7:29Speaker 6: so well West Show is in the parground.
- 7:33Speaker 4: And so this's that's kind of interesting because that the
- 7:37Speaker 4: ceiling is not real high, the cross members of those
- 7:40Speaker 4: trusses is not real high. And Johnson, I bet he
- 7:42Speaker 4: could grab a hold of one of them.
- 7:43Speaker 3: He's that close to them.
- 7:45Speaker 4: It's it's kind of and his truck barely fits in
- 7:49Speaker 4: that back.
- 7:50Speaker 5: It's it's one of those where you don't get in
- 7:52Speaker 5: the big hurry.
- 7:53Speaker 7: You better can keep in mind.
- 7:56Speaker 6: He puts the Zeit Weell last year with a zebra
- 7:59Speaker 6: and the two horses on top of the trailer and
- 8:02Speaker 6: he gets up there with him.
- 8:03Speaker 7: So keep in mind, it's pretty exciting.
- 8:06Speaker 3: That sounds exciting. Yeah, that's that's different. Good, I bet
- 8:13Speaker 3: it is.
- 8:14Speaker 5: And that's what a lot of people like about it.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Is that you're not sitting in a stand somewhere and
- 8:19Speaker 4: looking at some people down in the.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Arena, you know, three yards from them.
- 8:24Speaker 4: You're about one hundred feet now, maybe fifty feet because
- 8:27Speaker 4: that arena is only one hundred and fifty feet wide.
- 8:29Speaker 5: So you're within fifty feet of the people.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You're singing. What they're doing that's amazing.
- 8:34Speaker 4: So that way you can really get into I think
- 8:37Speaker 4: they get into it more because you're ritching so intimate now, yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 4: because you could get dirt kicked on you and stuff
- 8:43Speaker 4: like that.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Well, let's go through the schedule one more time while
- 8:46Speaker 2: we've piqued everybody's interest.
- 8:48Speaker 3: It all kicks off.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Around noon, yes, and you've got bands and entertainment and food,
- 8:53Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff going on.
- 8:55Speaker 3: When is the dress up contest?
- 8:57Speaker 2: The cowboy contesting kids contest?
- 9:01Speaker 6: It'll be one hundred dollars place cowboys and cowgirls.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Second and a third.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Do you register for that? You need to register.
- 9:10Speaker 6: It's in front of the stage. They're downtown and Don
- 9:14Speaker 6: Tyler the stage of lead between the the hotel in
- 9:18Speaker 6: the museum and the kids will be right up front.
- 9:22Speaker 7: So yeah, you need to raister fifteen minutes ahead of time.
- 9:26Speaker 3: All right, that should be a lot of fun and
- 9:28Speaker 3: I know you'll get a lot of entrance. That'll be
- 9:30Speaker 3: a lot of fun.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And then the parade, the long run Parade, and that
- 9:35Speaker 2: event starts around five o'clock.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Five o'clock, yes, sure.
- 9:38Speaker 2: And the Wild West Show you're talking about at six
- 9:40Speaker 2: thirty six, Yes, excellent, it's yeah.
- 9:45Speaker 5: It's actually now.
- 9:46Speaker 4: This is you'll not find any cheaper entertainment for all
- 9:49Speaker 4: that's got to get its ten dollars a person. Kids
- 9:52Speaker 4: twelve and under are free if you bring your parents.
- 9:56Speaker 5: Okay, if you're coming about adult.
- 9:58Speaker 4: If you're free, but you don't know, you have go
- 10:00Speaker 4: walk game by yourself with the Wild Wish.
- 10:02Speaker 2: With the Wild Wish Show, it's up everything else, all
- 10:04Speaker 2: everything else is to take out all after.
- 10:07Speaker 4: You might have to bring some long chairs because there's
- 10:09Speaker 4: not that many benches down in Dewey for you to
- 10:12Speaker 4: sit on.
- 10:12Speaker 6: So it's downtown is all free for the kids. The
- 10:16Speaker 6: one thing you're going to pay for is your and
- 10:18Speaker 6: that's through the dow f f A.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Re for this.
- 10:23Speaker 7: They help with this and we get back to the
- 10:26Speaker 7: community as we're non profits.
- 10:28Speaker 3: How long has this been going on?
- 10:32Speaker 1: I wonder.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Larry's talking to me about it for a long time,
- 10:38Speaker 2: and at.
- 10:38Speaker 7: Least Craig told me two thousand and four, but I can.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Be it's about twenty years.
- 10:44Speaker 4: It's about that we've been trying to get this going
- 10:47Speaker 4: in so it's just this is our second cheer to
- 10:52Speaker 4: have the show itself in the fair grounds. Okay, And
- 10:56Speaker 4: so the couple of years we didn't have a wal
- 10:58Speaker 4: Ware show, we just had a reading celebration.
- 11:01Speaker 5: We've got back into the wild West Show and I.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Think that really it should be something they want to
- 11:06Speaker 2: check out. It's a lot of fun. That sounds like
- 11:08Speaker 2: it would be a great event. There's so much other
- 11:11Speaker 2: stuff going on this this summer or this October. Rather,
- 11:15Speaker 2: we've got the October Fest coming up this Saturday too,
- 11:20Speaker 2: Community Fest at Barberswell Civic Ballet next week with Dracula,
- 11:25Speaker 2: I've got your Western Heritage today, the Brew and eight K,
- 11:28Speaker 2: the Warlock Car Show booth as Ghost Walk, the Run
- 11:32Speaker 2: the Streets Woollerock eight K is coming up.
- 11:35Speaker 3: That's a forty fourth annual event. But really cool that
- 11:38Speaker 3: that's still going on, and we've got we'll have this
- 11:42Speaker 3: on the show in a few weeks.
- 11:43Speaker 2: But the Elks Lodge is doing a special benefit for
- 11:47Speaker 2: Cody Hazelwood, who's a volunteer firefighter who was injured unfortunately,
- 11:51Speaker 2: and they're going to see if they can raise some
- 11:53Speaker 2: money to help him out and his family.
- 11:56Speaker 3: And that's going to be at the Elks Lodge on
- 11:59Speaker 3: the end of the month. And I'll have Robert Bright,
- 12:02Speaker 3: who's one of our.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Teammates at dungeons Ford and who's been involved with Elks.
- 12:07Speaker 2: But I've come talk about that in a couple of weeks,
- 12:09Speaker 2: so it should be a really good show. It's been
- 12:12Speaker 2: a really busy end too September and star to October.
- 12:16Speaker 2: At the dealership, our inventory is finally getting back to
- 12:20Speaker 2: what seems like a normal.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I don't know if normal is really what you know,
- 12:23Speaker 3: I don't know what that is anymore, but you know.
- 12:26Speaker 2: We've got I think I counted something about like nineteen f.
- 12:30Speaker 3: One fifties on the ground right now.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I've got all the Fords are priced at below Indo
- 12:36Speaker 2: dealer holdback below invoice. We've got big discounts on top
- 12:40Speaker 2: of that on our former Ford courtesy transportation vehicles. On
- 12:44Speaker 2: the Toyota side, we just got an allocation that's about
- 12:47Speaker 2: a we get allocated vehicles twice a month by Toyota,
- 12:50Speaker 2: and we got twenty eight in the last allocation. That
- 12:53Speaker 2: is probably the largest allocation I've had since twenty nineteen.
- 12:57Speaker 2: So that's that's really exciting. Lots of we've been doing
- 13:01Speaker 2: so well with Tacoma lately. We're starting to build that
- 13:04Speaker 2: inventory and really become kind of the hub of Tacoma.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Was as funny as that sound, but it's a great truck.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And and you know, I've got six of those I
- 13:15Speaker 2: think on the ground now, and a few more coming, Tundras, Cameras,
- 13:19Speaker 2: rab Fors, even several more land cruisers and TRD pro
- 13:24Speaker 2: Sequoia that's coming too. So great selection of Toyota vehicles
- 13:29Speaker 2: and lots of stuff coming that the sales team can
- 13:34Speaker 2: help you see before it actually shows up on the
- 13:37Speaker 2: website and gets gets here. So reach out to them
- 13:41Speaker 2: and they'll be happy to help you make that connection.
- 13:44Speaker 2: And anyway, let's go back to talking about what's going
- 13:49Speaker 2: on and doing A week from Saturday, We've got October twelfth,
- 13:54Speaker 2: the Dewey Western Heritage Weekend, and there's I know, you
- 13:59Speaker 2: know you have a long background yourself and Western heritage,
- 14:03Speaker 2: so to speak. Yes, yeah, you do. Tell us about
- 14:08Speaker 2: your background a little bit. Oh, I well, you know
- 14:14Speaker 2: just from around here.
- 14:16Speaker 4: Well, no, sir, Islad was raised up for north of
- 14:18Speaker 4: Saint Louis, Missouri, Okay, and I cam up or my
- 14:22Speaker 4: dad wrote and so I did too, and we had
- 14:25Speaker 4: a little place. And I am decide out of Corn
- 14:29Speaker 4: to college. I thought, I'm gonna go to Oklohoma State.
- 14:32Speaker 4: Well I went in nineteen seventy. I went down to
- 14:35Speaker 4: Oklohma State and never went back, stay down here and
- 14:38Speaker 4: stayed in Oklahoma ever since.
- 14:42Speaker 5: I just my.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Father was an act major at Oklahoma State.
- 14:46Speaker 5: So that respect of that, yeah, I kind of just
- 14:51Speaker 5: like everybody else.
- 14:52Speaker 4: You think you can get a lot to do a
- 14:55Speaker 4: lot of cowboy and stuff. I did a lot of
- 14:57Speaker 4: ranch and helping guys on ranches, and uh, everybody thinks
- 15:01Speaker 4: you're a good rodeo person, which some are, some aren't.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I wasn't as good as I thought I wanted.
- 15:06Speaker 3: To be, but I did.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I rope, you know, I grope cash in trip steers,
- 15:13Speaker 4: which I liked that and a boy the time, didn't
- 15:16Speaker 4: he get old enough? You think, my gosh, I can
- 15:18Speaker 4: write anything with four legs.
- 15:20Speaker 3: No you can't.
- 15:24Speaker 5: I didn't do the dang bulls. I was too scared.
- 15:27Speaker 5: I'd I kind of like the saddle Bronx.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I wish Bobby Dobkio. Oh yeah, big bull rider and
- 15:37Speaker 2: he was. He was crazy and yeah, a great guy.
- 15:42Speaker 2: One of my best friends is.
- 15:43Speaker 3: A coor dealer. But yeah, no, he was a lot
- 15:45Speaker 3: of fun and he definitely had no fear.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, I kind of all took up some trick roping.
- 15:55Speaker 4: He's for brings everybody. If you got to rope, you
- 15:58Speaker 4: gotta be able to do some size rope, a metal
- 16:01Speaker 4: hang or something, sure, And so I just took it up.
- 16:03Speaker 4: And then I was a friend of mine and his
- 16:06Speaker 4: dad had a rodeo company when I was in Southeast Oklahoma,
- 16:09Speaker 4: and they will come up to me one time and
- 16:11Speaker 4: I said, hey, we need some entertainment of our shows.
- 16:15Speaker 5: And I said, what are you looking at me for it?
- 16:18Speaker 5: And so well, well, you know, you you little.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Little trick roping.
- 16:21Speaker 5: So I went down there and and I trick wrote
- 16:23Speaker 5: form a little bit.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I wasn't all that good way back then, and they
- 16:27Speaker 4: paid me and I got the you know, my I
- 16:29Speaker 4: ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer. But I'll tell
- 16:32Speaker 4: you that I fucking wait a minute, I'm paying entry
- 16:34Speaker 4: fees to go rope, but they're gonna pay me to
- 16:38Speaker 4: do this.
- 16:39Speaker 5: I thought, now we're gonna try it. We're gonna change
- 16:42Speaker 5: our direction here.
- 16:44Speaker 3: So I got in.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yes, I started doing a lot of trick roping and stuff,
- 16:49Speaker 4: and this one thing led to another and it got
- 16:52Speaker 4: toward it.
- 16:54Speaker 5: I was very fortunate with it.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I got to go to Broadway and and rope up there,
- 16:59Speaker 4: and uh, it's it's like if else. I was up
- 17:02Speaker 4: there for about four or five days and doing at
- 17:05Speaker 4: the Girtschman Theater. And they come time to leave, and
- 17:10Speaker 4: got to the airport and scort always tell you, you know,
- 17:13Speaker 4: what seat do you want? And I says, ma'am, I
- 17:16Speaker 4: want to seat. It gets to Oplahoma first, the.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Rest of them, I don't care, give me out of
- 17:22Speaker 5: this town. And so but and did I've been like
- 17:26Speaker 5: I said, I got fortunate of which spent a week
- 17:28Speaker 5: at at disney World.
- 17:29Speaker 4: At the Epcot Center, and that was another exciting You never.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Know what things are going to lead you to. And
- 17:37Speaker 2: we called that Sparks at the dealership. And there's a
- 17:40Speaker 2: long heritage of that in my family. You know, how
- 17:43Speaker 2: my grandfather got into Ford businesses, the kind of like
- 17:46Speaker 2: that story where his father had passed away and and
- 17:50Speaker 2: they moved to Tonko, Law and my great grandmother was
- 17:55Speaker 2: teaching school, and they went to work at the Ford dealership.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Grandfather and his brothers that do it, you know, just
- 18:02Speaker 2: part time jobs sweeping and working in the parts department.
- 18:05Speaker 3: One became a salesman and playing playing sports on the
- 18:10Speaker 3: basketball team.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Got a picture of them in the late twenties or
- 18:14Speaker 2: mid twenties going on that team. And later he became
- 18:17Speaker 2: a dealer there. And the just you know, those those
- 18:20Speaker 2: sparks imagining of things and the doors that opened when
- 18:23Speaker 2: you when you moved to Oklahoma or decided to test
- 18:27Speaker 2: that thing. I mean so many things like that. You know,
- 18:31Speaker 2: I can just put back on the stories he tells
- 18:33Speaker 2: he and his brothers told, and anyway that I like
- 18:38Speaker 2: stories about that.
- 18:39Speaker 3: How people get into these things.
- 18:41Speaker 5: You get into that and you kind of like whatever.
- 18:43Speaker 4: But and then had got tell me one time you
- 18:46Speaker 4: got to remembery, of course, the most famous trick roper
- 18:49Speaker 4: in Oklahoma's Will Rogers, And we could talk about that,
- 18:53Speaker 4: and you had to and all of a sudden reality,
- 18:55Speaker 4: will hitch you. You think Will Rogers did not make
- 18:58Speaker 4: his money rope. He starved to death this cowboy and
- 19:04Speaker 4: deals not you know, most of the time, it's not
- 19:06Speaker 4: a real lucrative occupation. And so but I.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Was one of the probably the worst famous Oklahoma and
- 19:14Speaker 2: over and you know, and it was the stories he
- 19:17Speaker 2: told and.
- 19:18Speaker 3: You know, the way that he managed to create the
- 19:22Speaker 3: you know, the biggest persona in the world at that time.
- 19:24Speaker 3: I think, yep.
- 19:26Speaker 4: But I ended up I thought, well, I got to
- 19:28Speaker 4: make a live in some way, and I was pretty
- 19:31Speaker 4: much too lazy to work for living.
- 19:32Speaker 5: I think, you know, constraction.
- 19:34Speaker 4: So I went into teaching school, which ended up there's
- 19:36Speaker 4: a lot more work than I thought it was. And
- 19:40Speaker 4: that which I thought, well, okay, I've got to stay
- 19:43Speaker 4: with teaching because he will, you'll help pay for my
- 19:46Speaker 4: habit and and you know, exercise retired after forty years
- 19:52Speaker 4: of teaching.
- 19:53Speaker 5: And I'm not crazy. People think that I got through
- 19:56Speaker 5: all that and didn't end up in the looney.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Half, But uh, where did you teach?
- 20:03Speaker 4: A different spots? So I'll spent my last I guess
- 20:05Speaker 4: fifteen years at Kinney Valley at Ramona, Okay, that's where
- 20:08Speaker 4: I lived, and that was that was a good place.
- 20:11Speaker 5: It's so then I retired. Then I got to really
- 20:14Speaker 5: do what I wanted to.
- 20:15Speaker 4: Do because like I said, it was still the retirement
- 20:18Speaker 4: was still paying for my heads.
- 20:22Speaker 3: So and it became.
- 20:23Speaker 4: Answer that one thing later to another, and I've had
- 20:25Speaker 4: a lot of fun with it.
- 20:27Speaker 3: So thanks for telling you.
- 20:31Speaker 2: That's awesome, And it's a chance this weekend for those
- 20:35Speaker 2: of you listening to kind of get a glimpse of
- 20:37Speaker 2: that life of the Western heritage and the Western show
- 20:43Speaker 2: that you know goes back to our culture to the
- 20:46Speaker 2: middle of the last century. I think, yes, yeah, it's.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Such a great, great thing to tell those stories.
- 20:52Speaker 2: And I, like I said, I remember as a child
- 20:55Speaker 2: being really inspired by by those cowboys and the Indians
- 20:59Speaker 2: and the whole idea of the Western heritage that we
- 21:04Speaker 2: all share in Oklahoma here.
- 21:06Speaker 4: So right, it's always I like to go with the
- 21:09Speaker 4: idea that a lot of issues to talk about the
- 21:12Speaker 4: Wild West show. There's the part you got a memory
- 21:15Speaker 4: because old saying we've talked about this, he does remember
- 21:18Speaker 4: this show is this is where the pavement ends, the
- 21:23Speaker 4: West begins.
- 21:26Speaker 5: So that's where we go.
- 21:27Speaker 4: That's what kind.
- 21:27Speaker 5: We put on our advertisement a log it.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Okay, this is it.
- 21:30Speaker 5: This is a lot of fun on dirt.
- 21:34Speaker 2: Well, folks, come check that out. It's next Saturday in
- 21:38Speaker 2: downtown Dewey. They'll be kicking it off at noon. There's
- 21:42Speaker 2: a whole day of events and great stuff for your children.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Keep your children and entertained and inspired, and you can
- 21:51Speaker 2: learn a lot about Western heritage and.
- 21:54Speaker 3: What it was like to be a cowboy back in
- 21:57Speaker 3: the day.
- 21:58Speaker 2: And those skills that's fired and see some fancy roping
- 22:02Speaker 2: probably and other other.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Things like that.
- 22:06Speaker 1: And went back.
- 22:08Speaker 5: We also have.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Lots of vendors, lots of food, the Longhorn Parade, which
- 22:15Speaker 2: is quite exciting, and it's doing a different route, so
- 22:18Speaker 2: hopefully they can stay on track.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Yes, so you.
- 22:22Speaker 6: Well, we will also have wagon rice okay, Tyler, three
- 22:26Speaker 6: wagon rides for families.
- 22:28Speaker 7: So all right, Well.
- 22:31Speaker 3: It should be a great event. And there's always stuff
- 22:33Speaker 3: going on around here. So you guys, is how can
- 22:36Speaker 3: they get more information?
- 22:37Speaker 2: If they weren't paying it venturing completely today, they might
- 22:40Speaker 2: have got distracted by their story.
- 22:42Speaker 7: You can go to www.
- 22:45Speaker 6: Dewey Western Heritage Weekend to our website.
- 22:49Speaker 7: You can also go on our Facebook page.
- 22:52Speaker 2: You'd probably just google her Dewey Western Heritage and probably
- 22:55Speaker 2: find it pretty easily on Facebook.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Where's your big stage going to be this year? It's
- 22:58Speaker 3: going to be the same spot, thanks, spot between the
- 23:01Speaker 3: museum and the in the mixed museum in the hotel.
- 23:06Speaker 2: A good deal was It should be a lot of fun,
- 23:08Speaker 2: and I know you get a lot of people out there.
- 23:11Speaker 6: We can also call my number if you have any questions. Okay,
- 23:15Speaker 6: you want to be a vendor, you want to be
- 23:16Speaker 6: in our parade.
- 23:17Speaker 3: So is there still a chance to be in the
- 23:18Speaker 3: parade or vendor?
- 23:20Speaker 6: Love to have more people in the paride. We will
- 23:23Speaker 6: make room for vendors. We have a full downtown right now,
- 23:26Speaker 6: but we'll.
- 23:28Speaker 7: Make more room.
- 23:29Speaker 3: What's your number?
- 23:30Speaker 7: Nine six five seven, six eight, Richard? You went your
- 23:35Speaker 7: number on there.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Okay, that's up to you.
- 23:39Speaker 2: You could give Larry's number.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I'm sure just call me.
- 23:50Speaker 7: It happened.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I saw him out at the Kathy's and Outlaws. Yeah,
- 23:54Speaker 2: he was out there anyway. Yeah, it'll be a lot
- 23:58Speaker 2: of fun. I'm looking forward to the next weekend and
- 24:01Speaker 2: there's so much other stuff going on. I went through
- 24:03Speaker 2: a long list of that earlier, but We've got even
- 24:06Speaker 2: more stuff coming later in the summer.
- 24:08Speaker 3: I did give a little update.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I haven't mentioned soccer in a few months, but you
- 24:12Speaker 2: know that was has been a theme in the past,
- 24:15Speaker 2: as both my sons played a lot of soccer, and
- 24:17Speaker 2: I've chased soccer balls now for it seems like the
- 24:20Speaker 2: last twenty five years. But now body's on a Division
- 24:24Speaker 2: III soccer team now that's up to number four in
- 24:26Speaker 2: the country. They're undefeated, they're six to soho and three.
- 24:30Speaker 2: He's he's just a freshman and he's not really playing
- 24:32Speaker 2: right now. They have a senior goalkeeper. That's that's uh
- 24:36Speaker 2: got kind of so he's kind of learning many things now,
- 24:39Speaker 2: but he's watching and learning. He got last night to
- 24:42Speaker 2: go to the Columbus Crew game against Miami and saw
- 24:45Speaker 2: saw Messi score two goals and Suarez and anyway, that's
- 24:50Speaker 2: enough of a soccer report.
- 24:53Speaker 3: But it's cool, good it is now.
- 24:55Speaker 2: It's always great and proud of him and he's having
- 24:58Speaker 2: a great time in his fresh year at college and
- 25:02Speaker 2: lots of other stuff going on. Hopefully next week I'll
- 25:05Speaker 2: be bringing Mike DeVore, who's our body shop manager at Dungeons.
- 25:09Speaker 2: You know, we're going through a transition at Dungeons where
- 25:11Speaker 2: we're actually selling the Ford Store and that's a sad
- 25:14Speaker 2: thing for us, but it's also exciting and I think
- 25:17Speaker 2: it's going to be a great thing for the community
- 25:19Speaker 2: and for the Forward and the Toyota brands here. As
- 25:24Speaker 2: we know, it just helps us invest more in our dealerships.
- 25:30Speaker 2: But the body Shop is going to go with us
- 25:32Speaker 2: on the Toyota side and we're looking at expansion there.
- 25:36Speaker 3: It's been a great business one of the last few years.
- 25:39Speaker 2: And what's cool about the body Shop is the longevity
- 25:43Speaker 2: of our people there. There's seven people that work in
- 25:46Speaker 2: the body Shop with seventy three years of tenure and
- 25:49Speaker 2: so pretty pretty amazing a lot a couple of guys
- 25:53Speaker 2: that started out as teenagers and are still there twenty five,
- 25:57Speaker 2: twenty six years later. And you know, it's one of
- 26:00Speaker 2: those businesses and industries that you can do that now.
- 26:05Speaker 2: And that's kind of unique that, you know, people stick
- 26:08Speaker 2: with a position and goals like.
- 26:10Speaker 3: That for through the decades.
- 26:12Speaker 2: And you know that my uncle Joe and his uh
- 26:15Speaker 2: you know, he's been there fifty plus years and you know,
- 26:18Speaker 2: you guys and do we all know Joe? So anyway,
- 26:23Speaker 2: and he worked in the body shop for so long,
- 26:25Speaker 2: but so we'll talk body shop a little bit next week.
- 26:29Speaker 1: All right, folks, you've been watching and listening to our
- 26:31Speaker 1: program Car Talk with Brad Dungeis and the Dungeons family
- 26:35Speaker 1: of autos, and we learned a lot about the Dewey
- 26:37Speaker 1: Western heritage coming up here and next weekend, So folks
- 26:41Speaker 1: should take care of yourself a great day. We've got
- 26:43Speaker 1: news coming up in just a few right here on
- 26:45Speaker 1: Capable
