Speaker 1: acts chapter eleven. Allelujah. Chapter eleven is where we're going

Speaker 1: to be starting today. We just finished chapter ten. This

Speaker 1: is great. This is a powerful section of the Bible.

Speaker 1: We just witness one of the most powerful moments right

Speaker 1: in scripture where the Holy Spirit falls on gentiles, and

Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit falls even before baptism, before church approval

Speaker 1: and before tradition can even catch up. Right. But here's

Speaker 1: the reality of everything. When God does something new, people

Speaker 1: will demand explanations, you know what I mean, people want

Speaker 1: to know what's going on, and like this is different,

Speaker 1: you know what is this? So chapter eleven, it's not

Speaker 1: about rebellion, it's about accountability. Right now, this episode is

Speaker 1: entitled when God explains Himself. God is going to give

Speaker 1: an explanation of this new movement that he just started

Speaker 1: with the Gentile, this new open door. Now God is sovereign, right,

Speaker 1: he doesn't have to explain anything. Nothing has to be explained,

Speaker 1: but just shows his heart that he's willing to explain

Speaker 1: to his people what was going on and the new

Speaker 1: things that he is doing in this chapter. Amen, So

Speaker 1: let's let's follow along. So in verse one, we're gonna

Speaker 1: see that news will travel quickly. News travels fast. I mean,

Speaker 1: I can testify to this a lot of things I've

Speaker 1: done in the Kingdom, good or bad. How news just travels. Right,

Speaker 1: So in verse one we're gonna reverse one through two.

Speaker 1: It says, now the apostles and brethren who were in

Speaker 1: Judea heard that the gentiles had become also had also

Speaker 1: received the word of God that checked this out. In

Speaker 1: my mind, I'm thinking of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.

Speaker 1: The religion, the religious saying Heedrin always gave trouble to Jesus,

Speaker 1: gave trouble to the ministry of the Apostles. They persecuted,

Speaker 1: they whipped, and I mean they even killed Jesus. Right,

Speaker 1: It's not that group that are questioning this movement. It's

Speaker 1: the other apostles. It's uh Peter, I mean it's you know,

Speaker 1: James and John. It's you know, the other apostles who

Speaker 1: spent time with Jesus and the new found believers. Right,

Speaker 1: the Jewish brothers and sisters who have come to Christ.

Speaker 1: We call them the completed Jews, the Masonic Jews. Right,

Speaker 1: these are the ones who are questioning this move of God. Now,

Speaker 1: this news shook the Jewish believers. The Gospel cross ethnic

Speaker 1: lines and a challenged deeply held assumptions by the nation

Speaker 1: of Israel. You know, it still was even though they

Speaker 1: were believers, this still was inside of them deeply. Now,

Speaker 1: notice what they heard. They heard that the Gentiles received

Speaker 1: the word of God and man. Now that is a

Speaker 1: reason to rejoice, hallelujah. The gentiles receive the word of God.

Speaker 1: They didn't receive rumors, they did not receive opinions. This

Speaker 1: is the results that we're all pushing for a ministry.

Speaker 1: We want people, our brothers and sisters, our loved ones.

Speaker 1: We want them to receive the word of God. And

Speaker 1: we need to add this to our prayer list. Every

Speaker 1: time we do an outreach or an event, our prayer

Speaker 1: is that our community will receive the word of God.

Speaker 1: Now God had already moved at this point. Now the

Speaker 1: church had to respond to this movement. They had to

Speaker 1: respond to what God has done. And when Peter came

Speaker 1: up to Jerusalem, those other cir decision contented with him.

Speaker 1: Now this is a strong word. They contended with Peter. Now,

Speaker 1: the issue wasn't necessarily the doctrine that they were contended with.

Speaker 1: Issue was their association. They didn't say what did you preach?

Speaker 1: They said why did you go? Now this shows us

Speaker 1: something important. Religious people often care more about the process

Speaker 1: than the fruit. They put emphasis more on the process.

Speaker 1: Right now, they give their accusation in verse three, saying

Speaker 1: you went to the uncircumcised man and ate with them. Oh,

Speaker 1: I'm sorry, righty wrong saying you went to the uncircumcised

Speaker 1: men and you ate with them, that's the accusation.

Speaker 3: Now looks like you lost another one.

Speaker 1: Remember I've always said that you really can't blame them.

Speaker 1: They were conditioned by this because if you read the history.

Speaker 1: That's why it's important to read the Old Testament. If

Speaker 1: you read their history, they intermingled with other nations and

Speaker 1: got in trouble for it, and got in trouble for

Speaker 1: it by Jehovah. And why because he's other nations turn

Speaker 1: their hearts away from the truth and living God. And

Speaker 1: was it the skin color? You can see this even today,

Speaker 1: you go around the world, you will see that in

Speaker 1: different places, different countries, they worship different deities, they worship

Speaker 1: different gods. People always ask, you know, why are there

Speaker 1: so many religions in the world. Well, I would be

Speaker 1: suspicious if they were not, because my Bible tells me

Speaker 1: that there is a devil out there and his job

Speaker 1: is to deceive the nations. Right, So if everyone had

Speaker 1: the truth, if everyone had the one true and Living God,

Speaker 1: I would probably throw the Bible away, like nobody's out
11:52
Speaker 1: there being deceived. But I see it. I see the exception.

Speaker 1: I see that these are all false gods. They are

Speaker 1: not the one true God of Israel, the true Jehovah,

Speaker 1: the true Jesus of Nazareth. And if you study and

Speaker 1: look after their core beliefs, and I'm talking about all

Speaker 1: the different religions in the world, if you look at

Speaker 1: their core beliefs, they will all agree and they will

Speaker 1: attack the deity of Christ. They don't believe that Jesus

Speaker 1: is God. A lot of them don't believe that Jesus

Speaker 1: is the Son of God. Right. And they also attack
12:41
Speaker 1: the Holy Spirit. They said that he is not a person.

Speaker 1: They said that he's a force or a thing. They
12:48
Speaker 1: don't have a relationship with the Holy Spirit. And they
12:53
Speaker 1: attack God's word, They attack the very character of God

Speaker 1: the Father. And so it doesn't it's not hard to see.

Speaker 1: All you need is discernment. It's not hard to see

Speaker 1: what's really going on. And so this is huge.

Speaker 1: That's why they did not associate with gentiles.

Speaker 2: It looks like you lost another one.

Speaker 1: Now. The fact that they ate eating together symbolizes fellowship.

Speaker 1: This association cut deep into Jewish identity. If you ate

Speaker 1: with the Jewish man, that means a lot. That means you, guys,

Speaker 1: are becoming one because back then, it's not necessarily how
13:47
Speaker 1: we eat now at tables with plates. They used to
13:49
Speaker 1: eat on the floor, and they would sit in a circle,
13:54
Speaker 1: and they would have one loaf of bread, and they
13:57
Speaker 1: would all rip off a piece from the same loaf

Speaker 1: of bread. And that bread is going in our mouths,

Speaker 1: is going into us. We digest it, we get nourishment

Speaker 1: from it, the same loaf of bread. And so to

Speaker 1: the Jewish mind, you are becoming one with that person.

Speaker 1: That's what that symbolizes. It's about lines that made them

Speaker 1: feel safe. Also, now eating together also meant acceptance, fellowship,

Speaker 1: and equality with one another. Now, the Gospel erased all
14:39
Speaker 1: these distinctions, and that made some believers uncomfortable at this point.

Speaker 1: So in verse four, right, it says that, but Peter

Speaker 1: explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying,

Speaker 1: now Peter breaks it all down. He explains everything to them. Now,

Speaker 1: notice Peter doesn't argue with them. You know, he could
15:15
Speaker 1: have easily done that. He doesn't flex his authority. He
15:19
Speaker 1: could say that I am the apostle of Christ, I
15:23
Speaker 1: am the leader of the apostles, I am Peter. I
15:29
Speaker 1: actually been with him. You know a lot of people
15:33
Speaker 1: cannot say that that they actually been with him while
15:38
Speaker 1: he was here on this earth. Peter had a very
15:42
Speaker 1: special and unique position, but he didn't flex that. He
15:46
Speaker 1: just testifies. Now truth doesn't need value him and just
15:51
Speaker 1: needs clarity. And he was patient. And you can see

Speaker 1: the heart of God in this right walks them through

Speaker 1: the vision. And that's in acts chin ten, chin, excuse me,

Speaker 1: chapter ten. That's a tongue twister. He talks about the vision.

Speaker 1: Then he explains to them the spirit's command, what the

Speaker 1: Holy Spirit commanded them to do, and then Cornelius's testimony

Speaker 1: itself and also God's timing. Now these are all evidence.

Speaker 1: This is he presents the evidence like this was not him.

Speaker 1: This is all the hand of God. In verse fifteen,

Speaker 1: and as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell

Speaker 1: upon them as upon us at the beginning. Now this

Speaker 1: is beautiful right here. Check out what Peter does. Peter

Speaker 1: anchors the gentile experience with Pentecost. It's the same spirit,

Speaker 1: the same power, and the same Almighty God. This is

Speaker 1: Peter's strongest argument right here. So we can call this

Speaker 1: Pentecost Part two or we can call this the gentile pentecost.

Speaker 1: God treated them exactly like us. He is saying, no

Speaker 1: second class believers here, right. They did not downplay the

Speaker 1: power of the spirit. It was not a partial salvation.

Speaker 1: It wasn't segregation. It was the same exact treatment that

Speaker 1: they received by God. Hallelujah. Now verse sixteen. Then I

Speaker 1: remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John,

Speaker 1: indeed baptized with water, You shall be baptized with the

Speaker 1: Holy Spirit. Now Peter connects Jesus's promise to the present reality.

Speaker 1: Peter remembered a statement that John the Baptist spoke at

Speaker 1: the beginning of the Gospel, now verse seventeen. If therefore,

Speaker 1: God gave them the same gift as he gave us

Speaker 1: what we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. Was I

Speaker 1: that I could withstand God? That question ends the debate

Speaker 1: right here. Who was I to a stand God? That

Speaker 1: is a very great question, And I wish more people

Speaker 1: people would have asked this question. When God moves, repentance

Speaker 1: isn't I mean, I'm sorry, When God moves, resistance is

Speaker 1: not discernment, it's disobedience. Make sure you're not on the

Speaker 1: wrong side of God. This could happen in marriages. This

Speaker 1: could happen if God could be calling a husband to

Speaker 1: ministry and a wife could be the one resisting. God

Speaker 1: could be calling a church to go a certain direction

Speaker 1: and the people could be resisting the pastor the leadership.

Speaker 1: God could be raising a people in the church in
19:52
Speaker 1: the leadership, and the pastor could be resisting God's movement.

Speaker 1: We gotta be careful just even some of the things

Speaker 1: we say or do can be a hindrance. Are you

Speaker 1: hindering and resisting what God wants to do in the

Speaker 1: lives of people? Or are you a help? Are you

Speaker 1: helping the Lord? Amen? And this also makes me think

Speaker 1: of our ministry here in His hot Nation, when a

Speaker 1: lot of people decided to have issues for one reason

Speaker 1: or another. I'm still yet to have a conversation of

Speaker 1: what the issues really were at the time. And I'm

Speaker 1: just saying it to be transparent. You know, I've already

Speaker 1: forgiven I have love, i have nothing against no one else.

Speaker 1: But I'm looking at the spiritual consequences of this. Right.

Speaker 1: There's one thing to allow God to move you somewhere

Speaker 1: else remove you from a ministry. But that's another thing.

Speaker 1: When you come against it, when you try to stop

Speaker 1: other people from partaking of it. If there's not a

Speaker 1: scriptural basis, if there's not a sin that they can

Speaker 1: point out of the reasons why we need to walk

Speaker 1: away or not support a ministry, we gotta be careful

Speaker 1: because we could be resisting and move of the Lord.

Speaker 1: Think of how many people who could have gotten saved,

Speaker 1: people who could have came into the Kingdom just by

Speaker 1: your support, just by showing up and clapping your hands,

Speaker 1: just by saying, hey, let's go check out this gospel

Speaker 1: coming to an outreach, coming out. If you would have

Speaker 1: came out and just showed a little bit of support,

Speaker 1: And that person who knows it may have been their

Speaker 1: last opportunity to get right with God. But by you

Speaker 1: deciding not to come, how many people have been lost?

Speaker 1: And that was my whole heart. You know, I never

Speaker 1: or to launch different careers, even to get rich myself.

Speaker 1: We had so many free shows. People could tell you

Speaker 1: we had more free shows that we did have shows

Speaker 1: where we had to charge, but that's because we had

Speaker 1: to pay for the artists that came. You know, these

Speaker 1: are the bigger named artists, so we had to cover

Speaker 1: the bill at the time. But we gave out a

Speaker 1: lot of free stuff and free support just so that

Speaker 1: we can share the love of God with our community.

Speaker 1: And so the question is were they resisting the move

Speaker 1: of God or were they coming against something that the

Speaker 1: devil was trying to establish? Right, I guess we'll see

Speaker 1: on that day of judgment. Not saying it I've done

Speaker 1: anything perfect, and I'm not saying that I've supported ministries

Speaker 1: to the best that I could have. I need to

Speaker 1: do better now, even in the church I'm in now,

Speaker 1: I need to do better to support the move of God.

Speaker 1: But I don't want to be guilty of resisting the

Speaker 1: move of God. Amen, Who are we to resist God? Hallelujah?

Speaker 1: God moves, resistance can be disobedience. Right now, verse eighteen,

Speaker 1: here is the turning point. Now, when he heard these things,

Speaker 1: they became silent and they glorified God, saying, then God

Speaker 1: has also granted to the gentiles repentance to life. Hallelujah.

Speaker 1: God has a reason to rejoice beloved. This was a

Speaker 1: breakthrough movement right here, not just for gentiles, but for

Speaker 1: the Jewish believers also. Now notice the progression. First it

Speaker 1: was intention. Then came the explanation, and they were silent.

Speaker 1: in worship. Truth. When received humbly, it will lead us
