- 0:00Speaker 1: So i've been looking at various alien encounters recently the
- 0:04Speaker 1: ones that most interest me at events that happened before
- 0:07Speaker 1: the idea of alien visitors became a common cultural phenomenon
- 0:11Speaker 1: in modern times we have endless movies and books and
- 0:14Speaker 1: tv shows about extraterrestrials you can't really talk about aliens
- 0:19Speaker 1: about conjuring up images of flying saucers and greys and
- 0:22Speaker 1: people being abducted by big beams of light It's easy
- 0:26Speaker 1: for skeptics to dismiss an alien sighting as the product
- 0:29Speaker 1: of a vivid imagination, fueled by whatever television has taught
- 0:33Speaker 1: us that aliens are supposed to look like. But what
- 0:36Speaker 1: about the sightings from before aliens became fashionable? These are
- 0:40Speaker 1: the ones that I find most interesting because they weren't
- 0:43Speaker 1: influenced by any preconceived notions of what to expect. One
- 0:47Speaker 1: such case comes from 1871 and was documented by a
- 0:51Speaker 1: carpenter named William Robert Luceley. He wrote about his encounter
- 0:55Speaker 1: in a secret diary. He knew that if he revealed
- 0:59Speaker 1: what he'd seen he'd be ridiculed and it would affect
- 1:01Speaker 1: his business. So he wrote down his experiences and hid
- 1:05Speaker 1: them in a secret compartment in a desk that he'd
- 1:07Speaker 1: built for himself. It was only after his death that
- 1:11Speaker 1: the diary was discovered and years later that it was published.
- 1:15Speaker 1: The encounter begins one early October morning. Loosily awoke in
- 1:20Speaker 1: a fever at 3 a.m., finding his bed intolerably hot.
- 1:24Speaker 1: he decided to step outside and try and cool down.
- 1:28Speaker 1: So there he was, 3 a.m., standing in his garden,
- 1:32Speaker 1: looking up at the night sky. And he noticed that
- 1:35Speaker 1: one of the stars was moving. These days we probably
- 1:39Speaker 1: assume it was a satellite or an airplane or something,
- 1:42Speaker 1: but back in 1871 this was probably a pretty novel sight,
- 1:46Speaker 1: so he stood for a while watching the star and
- 1:48Speaker 1: it seemed to be getting bigger and bigger as if
- 1:50Speaker 1: it was getting closer. Eventually it was so bright in
- 1:54Speaker 1: the sky that he was actually able to see his
- 1:56Speaker 1: own shadow being cast on the wall behind him. He
- 1:59Speaker 1: watched the star moving across the landscape till it came
- 2:02Speaker 1: to a halt above an area called Plummer's Hill. It
- 2:06Speaker 1: then moved low to the ground and roved around deliberately
- 2:09Speaker 1: as if it was searching for a place to land.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Ultimately it stopped at a small wooded area called Plummer's
- 2:15Speaker 1: Green and it descended in among the trees and vanished.
- 2:19Speaker 1: After that William returned to bed and fell asleep. The
- 2:23Speaker 1: next day he'd asked his family and various townsfolk if
- 2:26Speaker 1: they witnessed the shooting star during the night. Nobody had
- 2:30Speaker 1: seen or heard anything, so he decided to investigate further.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He wasn't sure if he'd just dreamt the whole thing
- 2:37Speaker 1: in a fever, but that afternoon he decided to put
- 2:39Speaker 1: on his walking boots and head up to Plumbers Green
- 2:42Speaker 1: to investigate. The woodland itself is several acres wide so
- 2:46Speaker 1: it took him a long time to scour the area.
- 2:49Speaker 1: He was walking back and forth, he was walking stick,
- 2:52Speaker 1: turning over bushes and leaves, trying to find any evidence
- 2:56Speaker 1: of this object which had landed. After a long time
- 2:59Speaker 1: of searching he didn't find anything and he was ready
- 3:02Speaker 1: to give up when he heard something rustling in the
- 3:04Speaker 1: bushes next to him. He poked his walking stick into
- 3:07Speaker 1: the undergrowth and hit something metallic. He assumed he'd hit
- 3:12Speaker 1: some kind of discarded farm as equipment but then to
- 3:14Speaker 1: his surprise the metal object moved forward and emerged from
- 3:17Speaker 1: out of the bushes. He gives a pretty detailed description
- 3:21Speaker 1: of the object in his dairy. It says it reminded
- 3:24Speaker 1: him of an object that he was made to carve
- 3:26Speaker 1: during his carpentry apprenticeship, a 20-sided object called an icosahedron.
- 3:32Speaker 1: The surface was of a mirror-like shining metal. The edges
- 3:36Speaker 1: were smooth and most of the flat planes had a
- 3:38Speaker 1: small protrusion on it. It was about 18 inches high
- 3:42Speaker 1: and spat with mud and the occasional dead leaf. It
- 3:46Speaker 1: seemed to be of a quality of craftsmanship that would
- 3:49Speaker 1: have been almost impossible to produce at that time. The
- 3:52Speaker 1: object turned to one side and one of the metal
- 3:55Speaker 1: nubs flipped back like it was an eyelid and revealed
- 3:57Speaker 1: a glass lens behind it, loosely poked into the glass
- 4:00Speaker 1: but he could only see blackness within. At this point
- 4:04Speaker 1: in the description I would assume the lens was part
- 4:06Speaker 1: of some sort of recording device and that the metal
- 4:09Speaker 1: object was kind of drawn. However in Victorian times remotely
- 4:13Speaker 1: controlled drone cameras weren't exactly a common sight. I loosely
- 4:18Speaker 1: imagined the lens to be a window through which a
- 4:20Speaker 1: small creature was watching him from within. Another protrusion opened
- 4:24Speaker 1: and revealed a similar lens and this one emitted a
- 4:27Speaker 1: bright purple flash which dazzled William causing him to step backwards.
- 4:32Speaker 1: I think flashed another two times and it caused him
- 4:35Speaker 1: to be momentarily blinded. A third aperture opened and a
- 4:39Speaker 1: long metal rod emerged from the hole. By this time
- 4:42Speaker 1: he was sighted recovered enough to be able to see
- 4:45Speaker 1: the object moving towards him, extending the rod towards his chest.
- 4:49Speaker 1: He was obviously pretty frightened by this point and he
- 4:52Speaker 1: didn't want to get touched by his rod not knowing
- 4:54Speaker 1: what was going to happen. So he had to step
- 4:57Speaker 1: backwards to avoid being touched. What preceded was a kind
- 5:01Speaker 1: of slow motion chase with the creature following him slowly
- 5:04Speaker 1: with the rod extended, loosely walking backwards to avoid being touched.
- 5:09Speaker 1: The metal object seemed to reach a point where it
- 5:12Speaker 1: wasn't able to go forward anymore at which point it
- 5:14Speaker 1: turned around and departed. As William watched the object depart,
- 5:19Speaker 1: he noticed it left behind three ruts in the ground
- 5:22Speaker 1: as if there were three wheels underneath it. Although he
- 5:25Speaker 1: wasn't able to see the wheels because they were hidden
- 5:27Speaker 1: by a kind of metal skirt. He followed the object curiously.
- 5:33Speaker 1: He was scared but obviously he was also very intrigued
- 5:36Speaker 1: in wanting to find out more. He noticed that there
- 5:39Speaker 1: was these three ruts crisscrossing all over the forest as
- 5:42Speaker 1: this metal object had been searching through the forest all night.
- 5:46Speaker 1: The metal machine stopped at a bush and its rod
- 5:49Speaker 1: extended and a little claw emerged from the end of
- 5:51Speaker 1: the rod and picked up a dead rat on the ground.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Then another rod emerged from its body, this one must
- 5:57Speaker 1: have been a sort of tube because it let out
- 5:59Speaker 1: a clear plastic substance which wrapped up the rat. Once
- 6:03Speaker 1: the rat was completely wrapped up, Hatch opened in its
- 6:06Speaker 1: body and it dropped the rat inside. then it continued
- 6:10Speaker 1: on deeper into the woods. It stopped at one point
- 6:13Speaker 1: and picked up William's walking stick which he dropped in
- 6:16Speaker 1: his first encounter. Once it had the walking stick it
- 6:20Speaker 1: lifted it up into the air and carried it deeper
- 6:22Speaker 1: into the woods. William was following behind all this time
- 6:26Speaker 1: and eventually they were merging into a clearing and loosely
- 6:29Speaker 1: noticed that the whole area was flattened in a big
- 6:31Speaker 1: wide circle as if a large object had landed and
- 6:34Speaker 1: then taken off again. The metal machine walked up to
- 6:37Speaker 1: another bush and pushed aside some leaves and he noticed
- 6:40Speaker 1: that there was a second machine. It was almost exactly
- 6:44Speaker 1: the same shape but it was much bigger. This one
- 6:47Speaker 1: didn't seem to be able to move. It was as
- 6:51Speaker 1: if the smaller object was the rover and the larger
- 6:53Speaker 1: object was some kind of containment device. The smaller object
- 6:58Speaker 1: passed the walking stick to the larger one. A hatch
- 7:01Speaker 1: opened and it dropped the walking stick inside. At this
- 7:05Speaker 1: point the smaller machine emits a humming noise. It seems
- 7:09Speaker 1: to be able to move quicker on the flattened ground.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Loosely described as movement as if it's skating around on ice.
- 7:17Speaker 1: The grass around it seems to flutter. To me it
- 7:20Speaker 1: sounds like some kind of hovering device, maybe like a
- 7:23Speaker 1: hovercraft type of contraption or a low flying drone of
- 7:26Speaker 1: some kind. It moves so quickly that it's able to
- 7:30Speaker 1: get behind loosely and stop him getting away from the clearings.
- 7:34Speaker 1: At this point he's sort of looking around himself trying
- 7:36Speaker 1: to find some way of escaping. He's planning a mud
- 7:40Speaker 1: dash through the brambles. All of a sudden a man
- 7:43Speaker 1: appears in front of him. He described it as being
- 7:47Speaker 1: like a slightly translucent as if it's a ghost and
- 7:49Speaker 1: he looks a bit more closely because the man's kind
- 7:51Speaker 1: of looking down at the ground. It's actually a picture
- 7:55Speaker 1: of himself. To me it sounds like some kind of hologram.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Loosely doesn't recognize it as this. He thinks it's maybe
- 8:04Speaker 1: some kind of phantom. The picture changes and it shows
- 8:08Speaker 1: loosely stepping back in alarm and then it changes again
- 8:11Speaker 1: and shows him covering his eyes. To me it sounds
- 8:14Speaker 1: like in his first encounter with the metal object when
- 8:17Speaker 1: it flashed three times it took three photographs of him
- 8:19Speaker 1: and these were being reproduced in the air in front
- 8:22Speaker 1: of him. Then the image vanishes and it's replaced by
- 8:25Speaker 1: a picture of a floating globe. It seems like the
- 8:29Speaker 1: creatures are trying to communicate in some way now that
- 8:31Speaker 1: the globe flashes. First it flashes once and then it
- 8:35Speaker 1: pauses and then it flashes twice and then pauses and
- 8:38Speaker 1: then flashes three times and it counts up to the
- 8:41Speaker 1: number six. At which point loosely holds up seven fingers
- 8:45Speaker 1: completing the sequence. After that he's given a series of
- 8:49Speaker 1: weird shapes that he finds really hard to make any
- 8:51Speaker 1: sense of. He tries to describe him. He describes it
- 8:56Speaker 1: as kind of a spiky ball like a chestnut with
- 8:59Speaker 1: rings around it and various rings are flashing. Although he
- 9:02Speaker 1: tries to make accurate descriptions of it in the diary
- 9:05Speaker 1: I'm not going to relate everything here just because it
- 9:07Speaker 1: won't be very interesting to relay everything he describes. I
- 9:11Speaker 1: recommend going to read the account itself if you want
- 9:14Speaker 1: to learn more. After this the projection is getting even
- 9:17Speaker 1: more incomprehensible. It's just given a load of shapes and
- 9:21Speaker 1: things that don't make any sense to him. He's actually
- 9:25Speaker 1: getting pretty tired at this point because it's getting dark
- 9:28Speaker 1: and it just seems like they're projecting a load of
- 9:30Speaker 1: images at him. They're trying to speak to him and
- 9:33Speaker 1: cut some kind of symbolic language that he can't make
- 9:36Speaker 1: heads or tails of. Eventually the projection just completely stops.
- 9:41Speaker 1: The little creature moves into the center of the clearing
- 9:44Speaker 1: and raises its rod into the air and loosely sees
- 9:47Speaker 1: this as his chance to get out of there and
- 9:49Speaker 1: he does. He quickly runs away and makes his way
- 9:52Speaker 1: out of the forest. That night he was walking again
- 9:56Speaker 1: and he was able to see the falling star return.
- 9:58Speaker 1: It returned to the area and then took off again.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It was more cloudy that night so he wasn't able
- 10:05Speaker 1: to see it as clearly but he assumed that that
- 10:07Speaker 1: was the craft returning to retrieve the machines. After that
- 10:11Speaker 1: night he never saw any strange sightings ever again and
- 10:14Speaker 1: he actually writes or writes again in the diary ten
- 10:16Speaker 1: years later that he's starting to wonder if the whole
- 10:19Speaker 1: thing was a dream but he's glad that he's got
- 10:21Speaker 1: the diary to remind him that it actually happened. First
- 10:24Speaker 1: thing much to the end of the encounter is pretty
- 10:27Speaker 1: interesting and I recommend you go and read it for
- 10:29Speaker 1: yourself because he gives a lot more detail and I've given.
- 10:33Speaker 1: There is a book I'd recommend as well. It's by
- 10:36Speaker 1: David Langford and it's called An Account of a Meeting
- 10:38Speaker 1: with Denizens of Another World. It's got the entire diary
- 10:42Speaker 1: in the book and then at the back Langford gives
- 10:45Speaker 1: his own interpretations of some of the messages that the
- 10:47Speaker 1: aliens are trying to convey. For example, something that didn't
- 10:51Speaker 1: occur to me when I was reading the diary entry
- 10:54Speaker 1: was that one of the basic intelligence tests we give
- 10:56Speaker 1: to children and to animals to see how good their
- 10:58Speaker 1: self-awareness is to show mirror image of themselves to see
- 11:01Speaker 1: how they react. So it was almost as if they
- 11:04Speaker 1: were trying to do that we've loosely shown him a
- 11:07Speaker 1: picture of himself to see what his reaction would be.
- 11:10Speaker 1: After that came the basic counting experiment to see if
- 11:13Speaker 1: he was able to complete the sequence and then once
- 11:15Speaker 1: they'd sort of established if he had some level of
- 11:17Speaker 1: intelligence they were went on to give him some images.
- 11:21Speaker 1: One was another sequence of numbers. One of these sequences
- 11:25Speaker 1: numbers is actually one sequence in the Pascal triangle and
- 11:28Speaker 1: I don't know much about mathematics but it gives a
- 11:31Speaker 1: pretty detailed explanation of it in the book. The second
- 11:34Speaker 1: sequence of numbers he's given is actually the Fibonacci sequence.
- 11:39Speaker 1: After that he's given a series of strange shapes. The
- 11:43Speaker 1: one I described with the weird spiky ball, the rings
- 11:46Speaker 1: around it that sounds like they were describing a solar system. Yeah,
- 11:50Speaker 1: so he give two different solar systems and one of
- 11:53Speaker 1: them was supposed supposedly our own sun. So I was
- 11:56Speaker 1: interested about the interpretation because it was from 1980. Langford
- 12:01Speaker 1: wondered why when they show loosely a picture of the
- 12:03Speaker 1: solar system they only show eight rings surrounding the sun
- 12:06Speaker 1: because he says surely they'd know that Pluto existed and
- 12:09Speaker 1: it was shown nine rings because it was written in 1980.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Pluto was still considered a planet. It was only in
- 12:17Speaker 1: 2006 that it was actually downgraded. It might show that
- 12:21Speaker 1: the aliens had some kind of knowledge that was greater
- 12:24Speaker 1: than what we possess for a hundred years or more.
- 12:27Speaker 1: After that there's a weird series of shapes which loosely
- 12:30Speaker 1: tries to describe but he doesn't really make any sense
- 12:33Speaker 1: of him. It's like a spinning ball with shapes being
- 12:36Speaker 1: around it. One of them looks like an hourglass, one
- 12:40Speaker 1: of them looks like a ring. Langford actually managed to
- 12:43Speaker 1: decipher the shapes as being pictures of atoms and it's
- 12:46Speaker 1: actually thought to be part of the Schrodinger equation. So yeah,
- 12:51Speaker 1: again I don't really know much about physics but he's
- 12:53Speaker 1: described as being the solutions of Schrodinger's wave equation for
- 12:56Speaker 1: wave particles. What's most interesting about this is although the
- 13:01Speaker 1: diary was written in 1871, Schrodinger's wave equation wasn't formulated
- 13:06Speaker 1: until 1926. He was given some knowledge that wouldn't be
- 13:10Speaker 1: discovered for a number of decades afterwards. There's way too
- 13:14Speaker 1: much in the book to describe in the recording but
- 13:16Speaker 1: I definitely recommend if you want to learn more about this,
- 13:19Speaker 1: get the book. So anyway I'll end the recording here.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I just wanted to share with you something I've never
- 13:26Speaker 1: really heard anyone speaking about this particular case and I
- 13:30Speaker 1: found it very interesting so I kind of wanted to
- 13:32Speaker 1: spread the word, share it with the wider world. Let
- 13:35Speaker 1: me know what you think. I've never heard of any
- 13:38Speaker 1: such alien encounters before with these strange metal objects. I'm
- 13:43Speaker 1: going to be looking into some more old alien sightings
- 13:46Speaker 1: as I do want to happen just down the road
- 13:48Speaker 1: from where I live. So I might go and investigate
- 13:51Speaker 1: the area in a future video. I hope you like
- 13:54Speaker 1: this one. It's been a while since I've uploaded a
- 13:58Speaker 1: video actually. I've probably used for a huge delay in
- 14:02Speaker 1: uploading a video. Hopefully it won't be so long before
- 14:06Speaker 1: the next one. I've just been having a massive mental
- 14:09Speaker 1: block I think. Hope you enjoyed the recording. If you're
- 14:14Speaker 1: not subscribed already please do so. So everybody, shroud can hear.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So this week my computer decided to completely die on
- 14:23Speaker 1: me and right now I'm in the process of trying
- 14:25Speaker 1: to transfer some of my old video files over to
- 14:27Speaker 1: a new computer and I don't have any my usual
- 14:30Speaker 1: editing software or anything to work on and therefore I
- 14:32Speaker 1: haven't been able to work on any recordings this week.
- 14:36Speaker 1: But I did see a picture that I wanted to
- 14:38Speaker 1: share with you. So this could well be a photoshop
- 14:42Speaker 1: but even if it is it's still pretty creepy and
- 14:44Speaker 1: worth sharing. So this comes from Macruber Mall in Kitwe
- 14:48Speaker 1: in Zambia. So I'm going to go to the Zambian
- 14:51Speaker 1: Observer for the news for this one. According to eyewitnesses,
- 14:55Speaker 1: the strange image that looked like a human was in
- 14:58Speaker 1: the sky for over 30 minutes whilst looking down on
- 15:00Speaker 1: the mall. One eyewitness said we were shocked to see
- 15:04Speaker 1: images that looked like a human in the clouds for
- 15:06Speaker 1: close to 30 minutes. Others started worshipping it but others
- 15:10Speaker 1: ran away. It was so strange. So that's pretty much
- 15:15Speaker 1: all there is to the story. There's a few other
- 15:18Speaker 1: articles on different websites about it. They all pretty much
- 15:22Speaker 1: say the same thing. For such a strange image to
- 15:26Speaker 1: appear in the clouds for over half an hour, I
- 15:29Speaker 1: find it weird that only two photographs of surface of
- 15:31Speaker 1: it and so far no recordings have been taken. So
- 15:35Speaker 1: what do you think of the image? Do you think
- 15:37Speaker 1: it's real? Do you think it's a Photoshop? I hope
- 15:42Speaker 1: you enjoyed this short video. Hopefully I'll get back to
- 15:45Speaker 1: normal working order soon.
