- 0:00Aloha. Wednesday morning in Hawaiʻi. A transition day — humidity breaking, trade winds settling in, and a much clearer picture by the weekend.
- 1:47Today feels muggy with scattered showers on windward slopes and in the mountains this morning. By tonight, a drier air mass moves in — dewpoints drop from the low 70s back into the 60s, and you'll feel it. Moderate to strong trade winds stay steady through the weekend. Leeward shores are your best bet for outdoor plans, and afternoon snorkeling on calm south-facing reefs is solid.
- 2:06Surf-wise, south-facing beaches are running small to moderate. Waikīkī is at 4.3 feet, Kāʻanapali at 3 feet — comfortable for swimmers and beginner snorkelers. The Big Island's Hapuna is glass-calm at 1.4 feet, perfect for kids. Kauaʻi's Hanalei is running 5.5 feet with rougher sets — watch the shore break. East-facing shores are choppy today; north shores stay very small.
- 2:25At Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island, several trails and roads are closed — Kīpukapuaulu Trail is temporarily closed due to hazardous trees, and the Lava Tube Bridge is under replacement. Kīlauea is in an active eruption advisory, so check conditions before you go and watch for volcanic ash.
- 2:40If you're thinking ahead to farm visits, we just posted a guide on Hawaiʻi's specialty farm tours beyond the coffee belt — vanilla farms on the Hamakua Coast, a lavender farm in Upcountry Maui, honey tastings in Kona, and a small tea estate near Mauna Kea. It's a different way to spend an afternoon if you're looking to get inland and away from the beach.
