- 0:02Speaker 1: Yes, we are back on nor Show with nor Horse
- 0:05Speaker 1: Takes for whom the news gets weird. I am Mary
- 0:07Speaker 1: Catherine Ham.
- 0:08Speaker 2: And I'm Carol Markovitz and him Mary Catherine. We are
- 0:11Speaker 2: recording this after another very calm, chill weekend.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Nobody can ever chill, will let us rest, They will not,
- 0:22Speaker 1: And here we are to catch up on just like
- 0:25Speaker 1: you know, yeah, two.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Things, yeah, some things, you know, some things have happened.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 0:33Speaker 2: So since we last spoke, Israel has attacked Iran and
- 0:39Speaker 2: it's going very well so far. You know, Israel very
- 0:45Speaker 2: quickly said this is not going to be a quick thing.
- 0:51Speaker 2: After the first attack, they were asked like, is this it?
- 0:54Speaker 2: They said, this is not even the end of the beginning.
- 0:58Speaker 2: They see this as being war, not just strikes. And
- 1:02Speaker 2: you know, the night that it all went down. So
- 1:05Speaker 2: one of the funnier things about it, about an hour
- 1:07Speaker 2: before the strikes began, Mike Kokabe, who is ambassador to
- 1:13Speaker 2: Israel from the US, tweeted that he would be remaining
- 1:16Speaker 2: at the embassy in Jerusalem, and everyone was like, why
- 1:20Speaker 2: are you tweeting this at us in the middle of
- 1:22Speaker 2: the night, Mike Hookabe. Yeah, So it was clear it
- 1:27Speaker 2: was happening. Now, I am not a foreign policy expert.
- 1:31Speaker 2: I know this doesn't stop people from pretending they are
- 1:34Speaker 2: on X, but I follow it closely obviously, but I
- 1:39Speaker 2: could not possibly call myself an expert in the field. However,
- 1:44Speaker 2: that night, the rumor that spread on X was that
- 1:48Speaker 2: Trump didn't know about this, Yeah, knowing absolutely nothing about
- 1:54Speaker 2: what was going on. I responded that, like, obviously, Israel's
- 2:00Speaker 2: doing this without the United States kind of permission, Yes,
- 2:04Speaker 2: and it was. Trump has said that I ran had
- 2:07Speaker 2: sixty days to reach an agreement. It was day sixty one.
- 2:12Speaker 2: This kind of thing, it just it drives me bananas
- 2:15Speaker 2: because these people have followings on X that say things
- 2:19Speaker 2: that we all know are not true and that we
- 2:23Speaker 2: can't be true. It really does make me crazy.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So yeah, it's it is frustrating, and the immediate jump
- 2:33Speaker 1: to petty domestic politics, which look, yeah, is part of
- 2:38Speaker 1: my job. Petty domestic politics is what I've spend way
- 2:41Speaker 1: too much of my time on. Right, But in this case,
- 2:44Speaker 1: this is Israel going after an existential threat that frankly,
- 2:47Speaker 1: if they went nuclear, would affect everyone. Because this is
- 2:52Speaker 1: an insane and awful regime, right, and so to turn
- 2:56Speaker 1: it into like, ooh, they embarrass President Trump as a
- 3:01Speaker 1: sort of domestic politics victory is a silly because it's
- 3:07Speaker 1: not true, and he just sort of like makes you
- 3:10Speaker 1: look very small because it's not about that. And look,
- 3:16Speaker 1: I don't think that this would have happened under Biden,
- 3:18Speaker 1: because I think Biden would have been saying openly, or
- 3:21Speaker 1: a Harris administration certainly would have been saying openly, oh no, no, no,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you're not allowed to do any of that. Under a
- 3:27Speaker 1: Trump administration, they've talked behind the scenes. And although I
- 3:31Speaker 1: was worried about Steve Whitkoff making deals shared with the
- 3:36Speaker 1: Iranians because I thought that didn't look like a good idea,
- 3:39Speaker 1: it seems clear to me that they probably look. I
- 3:43Speaker 1: think Trump likes deals. So Steve Witkoff goes in there, like,
- 3:45Speaker 1: we're going to make a deal. Trump's like, maybe we'll
- 3:47Speaker 1: make a deal. But he's serious about the deadline, and
- 3:51Speaker 1: he's serious about backing Israel up if they need to
- 3:53Speaker 1: do what they need to do. And so he did
- 3:56Speaker 1: the deadline. And here's the thing about passing the deadline
- 3:59Speaker 1: and then making good on a threat is that it
- 4:02Speaker 1: makes you a credible leader. Exactly to those who we
- 4:07Speaker 1: want to be scared of us. So it also means,
- 4:11Speaker 1: by the way, that so many of our friends in
- 4:12Speaker 1: Israel who I want to just send up prayers for
- 4:15Speaker 1: are in danger, many of them in bomb shelters or
- 4:19Speaker 1: in special parts of their houses to protect them from
- 4:21Speaker 1: Iranian ballistic missiles. But because of the military and intel
- 4:26Speaker 1: successes of Israel, which have been astounding over the past
- 4:30Speaker 1: year or so, fewer of those ballistic missiles are coming
- 4:34Speaker 1: in each time because they are able to target where
- 4:37Speaker 1: they're coming from and take those out. Amazing.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, there, Iran is in this tough spot where Israel
- 4:44Speaker 2: keeps taking out their launchers every time they launch missiles,
- 4:47Speaker 2: but they can't not launch missiles, so you know, kind
- 4:51Speaker 2: of kind of a tough little spot for them. It's
- 4:54Speaker 2: going wildly well. There have been some deaths in Israel
- 4:57Speaker 2: which are very unfortunate obviously, also so any innocent Iranians
- 5:02Speaker 2: who are caught up in this. It's really desperately sad.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Iranian people have wanted to get rid of the mulahs
- 5:09Speaker 2: for so long, but hopefully this will be a moment
- 5:14Speaker 2: where that can happen. Even you know, people who have
- 5:17Speaker 2: opposed this attack, like Tucker Carlson, for example, in the
- 5:21Speaker 2: days before the attack happened, he wrote this whole long thing,
- 5:25Speaker 2: and I'm not going to get into it, but basically
- 5:27Speaker 2: he said, if the Iranians were close to getting a nuke,
- 5:30Speaker 2: the United States would already be at war with them.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Why would we want that? Why would we as Americans
- 5:37Speaker 2: want them to get really close to getting a nuke
- 5:39Speaker 2: and that's when we would go to war with them.
- 5:42Speaker 2: This is a much cleaner, safer situation for Americans. I
- 5:45Speaker 2: don't understand how any American can oppose Israel doing this
- 5:49Speaker 2: in Iran because it helps us without us having to
- 5:53Speaker 2: have boots on the ground period.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Well, and I understand people being concerned. I don't want
- 5:57Speaker 1: to be naive, but I am. There is this special
- 6:01Speaker 1: moment that we are in that because of Israel's incredible successes,
- 6:07Speaker 1: they sort of stood naked before the world. This program
- 6:11Speaker 1: and Iran's various sites didn't have the defenses that they
- 6:15Speaker 1: would otherwise have, So it seemed like a good opportunity
- 6:19Speaker 1: to add a relatively low cost, just like in general
- 6:25Speaker 1: of consequences and of retaliation, to go ahead and make
- 6:29Speaker 1: a serious dent in their situation. As you say, their
- 6:34Speaker 1: public is not exactly resoundingly behind them. Of course, a
- 6:37Speaker 1: lot would have to happen before the public rises up
- 6:41Speaker 1: and there's any sort of change. But I just you
- 6:44Speaker 1: don't have to be an expert to think, do I
- 6:47Speaker 1: want Iran to have nukes? And the answer is no.
- 6:51Speaker 1: And the Obama administration's plan for keeping them from nukes
- 6:54Speaker 1: seemed to be paid let them get extremely close to
- 6:58Speaker 1: nukes and also give them lots of money to get
- 7:00Speaker 1: which I confess I don't.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, never made a lot of sense and didn't think
- 7:06Speaker 2: that was strategy was going to work, and it hasn't.
- 7:08Speaker 2: So Also, Iran has not let in inspectors in a
- 7:12Speaker 2: long time. This idea that they're being so transparent and
- 7:15Speaker 2: oh look at israelis bombing them for no reason is ridiculous.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb. President Trump said that,
- 7:22Speaker 2: and we were hoping to get back at the negotiating table.
- 7:25Speaker 2: We will see, and then he added there are several
- 7:27Speaker 2: people in leadership that will not be coming back, which
- 7:31Speaker 2: is a perfect little Trump is.
- 7:34Speaker 1: He also said, when asked, like you knows how did
- 7:39Speaker 1: they die? Or they died because they were taken out by,
- 7:42Speaker 1: and he goes, well, they didn't I have COVID, and
- 7:46Speaker 1: I just he is a very funny president.
- 7:49Speaker 2: He is us.
- 7:50Speaker 1: He's a very funny president. Apparently, Iran is now signaling
- 7:54Speaker 1: the Wall Street Journal reports that it would like to
- 7:56Speaker 1: de escalate hostilities and result resumed talks over its nuclear programs,
- 8:02Speaker 1: sending messages to Israel and the US via Arab intermediaries.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Middle Eastern and European officials said, oh what changed. I also,
- 8:09Speaker 1: I would like to note every Arab country quietly does
- 8:15Speaker 1: not want them to have nukes. They are not loud
- 8:18Speaker 1: about it, but they want this result. And they also
- 8:22Speaker 1: have backed up Israel by shooting many things out of
- 8:25Speaker 1: the air headed toward Israel, at least some of those
- 8:29Speaker 1: allied Arab countries. So even though it's like a little
- 8:31Speaker 1: testy over there, they don't want Iran to have a
- 8:36Speaker 1: nuke either, right, Why would they?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Yeah, it makes no sense. We'll be right back on normally.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Other news. This weekend, there was a shooting in Minnesota
- 8:50Speaker 2: where a gunman killed Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and
- 8:56Speaker 2: her spouse, and he shot two other lawmakers. The gunman
- 9:00Speaker 2: is Van Spolter, I reported that first, thank you very
- 9:04Speaker 2: much she did.
- 9:05Speaker 1: If you do not follow at Carol, you should because
- 9:09Speaker 1: she does break some news.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Sometimes I break news. It's very very scary whenever I do.
- 9:14Speaker 2: By the way, I don't recommend it. It's a very
- 9:17Speaker 2: nerve wracking few minutes every time. Where I hope that
- 9:21Speaker 2: I got it right, I haven't correct. I haven't been
- 9:23Speaker 2: wrong yet. I had one time where I said a
- 9:26Speaker 2: jury decision was in and that hadn't become public yet,
- 9:29Speaker 2: but then the jury went back into deliberations, so it
- 9:32Speaker 2: seemed like I got it wrong. But other than that one,
- 9:35Speaker 2: I'm batting whatever the good batting averages.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Our girl is a good follower. But this terrible situation
- 9:43Speaker 1: is the fifty five year old Democratic leader in the
- 9:46Speaker 1: Minnesota House and her husband. They have children. I believe
- 9:50Speaker 1: he also shot their dog. It's just like the worst story.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He also the suspect also shot allegedly another lawmaker. It's
- 10:01Speaker 1: unclear exactly what the situation is right now. The Wall
- 10:05Speaker 1: Street Journal is reporting that this guy has really disparate employment,
- 10:10Speaker 1: sort of a very confusing career path ministry. They said
- 10:14Speaker 1: he works with some sort of eye donation company right
- 10:18Speaker 1: now and is also trying to get a security company
- 10:21Speaker 1: off the ground. He apparently has a family, but also
- 10:24Speaker 1: has roommates in another part of town. They did report
- 10:28Speaker 1: that he has been a preacher and is that specifically
- 10:32Speaker 1: worked with the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is an
- 10:34Speaker 1: interesting choice, and that he is a pro life person
- 10:37Speaker 1: that perhaps there's a list of abortion allies that he
- 10:43Speaker 1: had in his possession. He shoots both of these lawmakers.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I don't want to get over our skis because that's
- 10:50Speaker 1: what the press always does in these situations and it's
- 10:53Speaker 1: not healthy for anyone. But every single person should be
- 10:59Speaker 1: able to say this is the worst and we want
- 11:03Speaker 1: nothing to do with anyone who agrees with us doing
- 11:06Speaker 1: anything like this, Unlike the Luigi situation, yep, I would
- 11:10Speaker 1: just like to say that very loudly, right.
- 11:13Speaker 3: You're not like, well, maybe the right right, like I
- 11:17Speaker 3: wouldn't shoot people, but no, no, this is not doing
- 11:21Speaker 3: that wrong and we don't stand for it on normally.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Also, I would like to note that Senator John Hoffman
- 11:28Speaker 1: sixty and his wife, Yvette, who were also attacked. I
- 11:32Speaker 1: believe Yvette shielded their daughter, like incredibly heroically. There was
- 11:37Speaker 1: a man hunt for this guy. He has been apprehended.
- 11:40Speaker 1: We will know more information. Apparently there's a manifesto. I
- 11:43Speaker 1: don't know if it will be released. Law enforcements seem
- 11:45Speaker 1: to say not at this point. And also it sounds
- 11:49Speaker 1: like someone that he was caught because someone saw him
- 11:52Speaker 1: on a trail camp. So way to go, hunters. Wow,
- 11:55Speaker 1: we appreciate it happened.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I didn't hear that.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Amazing, that is what I saw this morning. So anyway,
- 12:00Speaker 1: as always, we will be careful with such news unless
- 12:03Speaker 1: someone is on tape and many witnesses saying this is
- 12:07Speaker 1: my motive. I am currently practicing that motive. I don't
- 12:12Speaker 1: like to say that until we're going.
- 12:13Speaker 2: To give it a minute. That's right, Yeah, we're going
- 12:15Speaker 2: to take a short break and come right back with normally.
- 12:21Speaker 2: In other news, Donald Trump, you know when he's good.
- 12:26Speaker 2: He is very very good. My friend Cliff Asnis, who
- 12:31Speaker 2: is a big opponent of tariffs, after he tweeted this
- 12:35Speaker 2: after Trump said for those people who say they want peace,
- 12:37Speaker 2: you can't have peace if I Ran has a nuclear weapon.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So for all those wonderful people, you don't want to
- 12:42Speaker 2: do anything about I Ran having a nuclear weapon. That's
- 12:44Speaker 2: not peace. And Cliff Astnes wrote DJT. You know, today
- 12:48Speaker 2: I'm thinking I can live with some tariffs, which is
- 12:51Speaker 2: really where we are on Trump, like he is so good.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And then other times I just don't understand this man.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And one of those times is these new carve outs
- 13:05Speaker 2: for people who are here illegally and have jobs and
- 13:10Speaker 2: in the farming and hotel and leisure businesses are getting
- 13:14Speaker 2: a carve out to not be deported. And I hate that.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I hate it. I hate it because there should be
- 13:21Speaker 2: no special carveouts. What about uber eats, what about you know,
- 13:23Speaker 2: any other number of businesses that rely on a class
- 13:27Speaker 2: of people that they don't have to pay minimum wage too,
- 13:31Speaker 2: you know, the people who are very worried about their
- 13:34Speaker 2: their maids and their gardeners and whatever, very very Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 2: they're just like, what about my cleaning staff? What about
- 13:43Speaker 2: their people? Right? So I really don't like this at all.
- 13:48Speaker 2: The other thing kind of related to this that he
- 13:51Speaker 2: reversed himself on is made a deal with China, subject
- 13:56Speaker 2: to final approval. But one of the things was we
- 14:00Speaker 2: agreed Chinese students using our colleges and university, which has
- 14:03Speaker 2: always been good with me. He tweeted. I think that's
- 14:07Speaker 2: a problem. I think it's a real problem that China
- 14:10Speaker 2: can send anyone they want to our universities and we
- 14:13Speaker 2: really don't know who's coming in. And so it ties
- 14:16Speaker 2: really well with the illegal immigration problem because these special
- 14:20Speaker 2: carve outs do not help us and they don't lead
- 14:24Speaker 2: us to a good place. If you want to have
- 14:27Speaker 2: special workers and special industries, we have worker programs for that,
- 14:32Speaker 2: legal worker programs. We don't just overlook that these industries
- 14:36Speaker 2: have illegal immigrants working there and say, oh, well, they
- 14:40Speaker 2: need those immigrants, and that's just what we're going to
- 14:42Speaker 2: do here. So Donald Trump Man, I.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Know, well, and once again you're punishing people who obey
- 14:50Speaker 1: the law because it's much more expensive for them to
- 14:52Speaker 1: run their businesses because they're paying people minimum wage. I
- 14:54Speaker 1: love liberals, by the way, where it's like, we have
- 14:57Speaker 1: to have a twenty dollars minimum wage, yeah, which will
- 15:00Speaker 1: crush the actual not black market economy, but for the
- 15:04Speaker 1: gray and black market where people are being paid off
- 15:06Speaker 1: the books, paying whatever you want two dollars an hour,
- 15:10Speaker 1: that seems fine with us. So it's a little weird
- 15:13Speaker 1: to me. I do think there's a way to achieve
- 15:17Speaker 1: basically not turning everyone off with the mass deportation effort
- 15:21Speaker 1: while also getting done a lot of work, which is
- 15:24Speaker 1: to do what he said he was going to do.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And the beauty and the annoyance about Trump is that
- 15:28Speaker 1: he'll say a thousand things. You can always say, well,
- 15:31Speaker 1: he said that. But look, prioritizing criminal aliens is very,
- 15:36Speaker 1: very very popular. Do that do targeted pickups? If there
- 15:42Speaker 1: are various industries that are more problematic than others, I
- 15:46Speaker 1: think those are worth sending a signal about it because
- 15:49Speaker 1: all the other parts of that industry have to go ooh,
- 15:53Speaker 1: should we.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Be doing this exactly?
- 15:55Speaker 1: And I just don't understand what part of the law
- 15:59Speaker 1: has been repealed, right, because to my knowledge none, it's
- 16:04Speaker 1: just still illegal to employ all these people. Yeah. By
- 16:07Speaker 1: the way, I remember the days when like one nanny
- 16:09Speaker 1: scandal would get somebody kicked out of it an administration.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yes, do we even do that anymore? I think, Okay,
- 16:15Speaker 2: we just accept that everybody has a legal immigrant nannies.
- 16:19Speaker 1: You know, let's keep telling me.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah. I did a border trip last year now, and
- 16:27Speaker 2: one of the things that the agriculture worker that we
- 16:29Speaker 2: spoke to Holmes and agriculture business on the border of
- 16:34Speaker 2: Texas and Mexico was saying he does not hire anyone
- 16:37Speaker 2: who is here legally. But he also has a lot
- 16:41Speaker 2: of trouble with the guest worker program. They don't have
- 16:45Speaker 2: a good effective guests worker program. He often does not
- 16:50Speaker 2: have enough people. He also the whole idea, you know,
- 16:53Speaker 2: just pay more and you get Americans. He says, well, no,
- 16:56Speaker 2: because you have to live in this rural area where
- 17:00Speaker 2: are grown. And he says he has two Americans who
- 17:03Speaker 2: come every season to work for him, but it's very rare,
- 17:06Speaker 2: very hard, and he would like to bring in more
- 17:09Speaker 2: legal workers, and he has trouble doing that. And I
- 17:13Speaker 2: don't think exempting farm markers is going to lead us
- 17:16Speaker 2: to having a better guest worker program, which Trump has
- 17:20Speaker 2: mentioned he wanted right he is. He has said he
- 17:22Speaker 2: wants a better guest worker legal program. I think exempting
- 17:27Speaker 2: these illegal workers in these industries moves us farther away
- 17:30Speaker 2: from that goal.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah. By the way, while we're while we're airing grievances,
- 17:33Speaker 1: I would like to point out that still TikTok should
- 17:37Speaker 1: not exist on American app markets right now according to
- 17:41Speaker 1: the law. However you feel about that law, the law
- 17:44Speaker 1: is not being obeyed and so interesting to me and
- 17:47Speaker 1: actually a good segue into our next topic, because this
- 17:50Speaker 1: is the almost the only thing that Trump is acting
- 17:53Speaker 1: like a king about. He is not enforcing this TikTok law. Yeah,
- 17:58Speaker 1: the left doesn't care because they really like TikTok, so.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Right doesn't matter. It's fine. Yeah, it's not a king here.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Yeah, just want to note that the law is not
- 18:08Speaker 1: being followed on that he keeps saying I'm going to delay,
- 18:10Speaker 1: and there's nothing in the law that says he's allowed
- 18:12Speaker 1: to delay. It just shouldn't be happening.
- 18:14Speaker 2: We'll be right back on.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Normally, the No Kings rallies happened all around the nation,
- 18:25Speaker 1: reportedly about two thousand different sites. At the same time,
- 18:29Speaker 1: the Army Parade was going on. Army two hundred and
- 18:31Speaker 1: fiftieth Birthday Parade was happening in Washington, d C. I
- 18:34Speaker 1: do want to point out that in my area, I
- 18:36Speaker 1: ran across some No Kings protesters. They were all boomerirific ladies.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Like I was, like, it's hot outside today, everybody make
- 18:48Speaker 1: sure you hydrate. But we drove past a little crowd
- 18:51Speaker 1: and my kids said, and I don't talk to them
- 18:54Speaker 1: about politics a lot. We talk about civics, but we
- 18:57Speaker 1: don't talk about politics. Sure, And they asked about this
- 19:00Speaker 1: and they're like, what is that, No Kings, what is happening?
- 19:03Speaker 1: And I said, well, those are people who don't like
- 19:05Speaker 1: Donald Trump and this is their First Amendment right to
- 19:07Speaker 1: protest him and say that they don't like him because
- 19:09Speaker 1: they believe he's acting like a king. And they said,
- 19:13Speaker 1: wasn't he elected in the election, And I said, yes,
- 19:17Speaker 1: that is a salient point, ladies, that is a very
- 19:21Speaker 1: unboldlike behavior.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Also, kings generally wouldn't allow no King protests on their streets.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Just one of those things you hear about kings. We
- 19:31Speaker 2: also drove by a really small one in Coral Springs, Florida.
- 19:35Speaker 2: They were waving American flags and not blocking traffic, and
- 19:38Speaker 2: I just thought, even our leftists are better in Florida.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that that may be. The are seemed
- 19:43Speaker 1: to be a short lived little protest near where we were.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I will say it did seem like they might have
- 19:50Speaker 1: gotten a little more patriotic over the past couple of
- 19:54Speaker 1: weeks when they saw how the LA stuff was landing.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Right and good for them, good good, Yeah, we was.
- 20:01Speaker 1: However, there was one death at a Salt Lake City,
- 20:05Speaker 1: no kings, And methinks that if conservatives gathered in two
- 20:09Speaker 1: thousand gatherings and there were one murder, that that would
- 20:11Speaker 1: be a huge national story, but it's rather small at
- 20:16Speaker 1: any rate. That was a it was a weird situation
- 20:19Speaker 1: where a guy with a rifle showed up, was charging people,
- 20:22Speaker 1: and a peacekeeper, a designated peacekeeper inside the crowd shot
- 20:27Speaker 1: at the assailant and miss hit a bystander, which is
- 20:30Speaker 1: just terrible. But the guy with the original guy with
- 20:33Speaker 1: the rifle is being charged. So that happened at the parade,
- 20:37Speaker 1: which was supposed to be the fascistic display on the
- 20:40Speaker 1: National Mall, it was actually just an army parade. It
- 20:44Speaker 1: wasn't a Trump parade. He was there because he's the
- 20:47Speaker 1: commander in chief. It's the two hundred and fiftieth birthday
- 20:50Speaker 1: of the army. This event has actually been planned because
- 20:54Speaker 1: the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary was coming up for
- 20:56Speaker 1: a long time and people knew it. There have been
- 20:58Speaker 1: plans in the work since two thousand twenty three at
- 21:01Speaker 1: least just.
- 21:02Speaker 2: To do this. Yeah. Yeah, he had very little to
- 21:07Speaker 2: do with this, and yet it was like, look at
- 21:09Speaker 2: the king with his military parade for his birthday, and
- 21:12Speaker 2: it's like, yes, it really wasn't and just he makes
- 21:15Speaker 2: people lose their minds like this. I actually think the
- 21:18Speaker 2: no Kings is very bad branding. I don't think that
- 21:21Speaker 2: they nailed it with this one.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I think they did either. They're usually better at.
- 21:24Speaker 2: That, so much better. And the pic pussy you know
- 21:27Speaker 2: hat thing in twenty sixteen, way more effective, way more
- 21:33Speaker 2: like striking and lands. Where kind of his weaknesses were,
- 21:39Speaker 2: it was with women, and it was the comments he
- 21:41Speaker 2: made to Billy Bush. They nailed that he's not trying
- 21:45Speaker 2: to be a king, and I don't know who thinks otherwise.
- 21:48Speaker 1: So say, his answers to whether people should be concerned
- 21:52Speaker 1: about him being a king are far better than Obama's were,
- 21:55Speaker 1: because Obama would just wax poetic about how he kind
- 21:59Speaker 1: of wished he was but he can't do it, and
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm sure you could find tape of Trump doing the same.
- 22:04Speaker 1: But when he was just recently asked about it, he
- 22:07Speaker 1: was like, I don't feel like a king, like I
- 22:09Speaker 1: keep having to check with Mike Johnson I can do.
- 22:13Speaker 2: And also like local district court judges keep stopping him.
- 22:18Speaker 2: So you know, there was that meme going around like
- 22:20Speaker 2: Donald Trump was going to resign from the presidency and
- 22:23Speaker 2: take a really you know, the high power job of district.
- 22:27Speaker 1: District court judge.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I do want to play just a tiny clip of
- 22:31Speaker 1: the Army two fifty parade, which was I must say,
- 22:34Speaker 1: very cool. Here is the scary, UH military parade. These
- 22:40Speaker 1: guys are marching and you'll hear the horrifying soundtracks. When
- 23:10Speaker 1: I think fascists, I think John Phillips SUSA. Right.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Also, I should know, I like London does that like
- 23:16Speaker 2: three times a week.
- 23:18Speaker 1: So oh yeah. In fact, he did it the same
- 23:20Speaker 1: day as US this year. Yes, this landed on Trump's birthday,
- 23:24Speaker 1: but also Flag Day and also the two hundred and
- 23:26Speaker 1: fiftieth birthday of the US Army. I loved that they
- 23:29Speaker 1: did all the different eras of uniforms. I loved it
- 23:32Speaker 1: looked fantastic. The voiceover if you were a history person
- 23:39Speaker 1: or at all interested in this, was also great because
- 23:42Speaker 1: you're just learning things about the American military while they're
- 23:46Speaker 1: troop in the color as they say in Britain, the
- 23:50Speaker 1: lawmakers are watching Carol. Would you like to guess how
- 23:54Speaker 1: long Trump's speech was at this event?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh? You know Trump likes to give the really long speech,
- 24:00Speaker 2: but I feel like the fact that you're asking me
- 24:02Speaker 2: means it didn't go two hours.
- 24:05Speaker 1: So for the Trump Parade on his birthday, where he's
- 24:08Speaker 1: a king, he gave an eight minute speech.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's good, He's very, very good.
- 24:15Speaker 1: And he also swore in a bunch of officers in
- 24:19Speaker 1: the middle of the parade, or a bunch of new
- 24:21Speaker 1: enlisties and re enlisties at the parade, which is such
- 24:25Speaker 1: a cool thing, except that I joked that he's literally
- 24:29Speaker 1: in the streets of America telling them to obey his orders,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and we're all just blind to this horrific, unprecedented move.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Of course, that's just the normal oaths that you give
- 24:39Speaker 1: when you're subject to the orders of the commander in
- 24:41Speaker 1: chief in our system. Even MSNBC had to admit at
- 24:45Speaker 1: one point like this doesn't seem like dark or scary.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, they were real worried about it before though. Matt
- 24:53Speaker 2: cover on X tweeted, who knew that principled opposition to
- 24:57Speaker 2: Trump would mean booing the Army's two hundred fiftieth birthday.
- 25:01Speaker 2: If you find yourself booing the Army's birthday, like you've
- 25:04Speaker 2: got some problems.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it was just nice. All the guys in the
- 25:07Speaker 1: tanks were like smiling and waving at children. They at
- 25:12Speaker 1: one point, I did enjoy this, and I think this
- 25:13Speaker 1: is a Trump era flare that might not have existed otherwise.
- 25:16Speaker 1: When the tanks were coming down the street of different eras,
- 25:18Speaker 1: they would play songs from the different eras. So it
- 25:20Speaker 1: was like inter sandmen and I love some seventies rock.
- 25:25Speaker 1: It was very American. Wow, So just stop overreacting to everything. Man,
- 25:34Speaker 1: they came to.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Your lips, Mary Catherine, I really would enjoy that. How
- 25:39Speaker 2: did the New York Times handle Father's Day? Okay, speaking
- 25:44Speaker 2: of overreacting. Did they have a very positive message for
- 25:48Speaker 2: fathers on Father's Day?
- 25:50Speaker 1: You know, they had a daughter write a piece called
- 25:54Speaker 1: what my father gave Me?
- 25:57Speaker 2: He gave her good things?
- 25:58Speaker 1: Right, oh, contrerel It was a piece called what my
- 26:04Speaker 1: father gave Me, and it was all about how much
- 26:07Speaker 1: she dislikes her father and he's still with us. She
- 26:11Speaker 1: wrote a New York Times article about him, and I'm
- 26:15Speaker 1: just saying, look, parental relationships can be complicated, Okay, I
- 26:18Speaker 1: understand that. Just find one person in America who loves
- 26:22Speaker 1: their father or stepfather.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Or father in law. I love my father in law,
- 26:27Speaker 2: you know.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Just grandfather even would be a thing you could do.
- 26:32Speaker 1: But they found a person who's like, I want to
- 26:35Speaker 1: trash my still living father. Yeah, for all the ways
- 26:40Speaker 1: he fell short when I was a child. I want
- 26:43Speaker 1: to air that in the New York Times. And I
- 26:45Speaker 1: also want to note the emotionally immature ways in which
- 26:48Speaker 1: I have retaliated against him for these things, including she says,
- 26:54Speaker 1: there are some things I've taken from my dad, including
- 26:57Speaker 1: Fox News when I set up his cable.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Ma'am, you're not the samee one here.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Like, don't do that to your dad. Just just hey,
- 27:08Speaker 1: here's an idea. But your grown ass father watched the
- 27:11Speaker 1: channels he wants to watch exactly.
- 27:13Speaker 4: Wow.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Wow, it just yeah, it's like he didn't take her
- 27:18Speaker 2: to San Diego Chargers games even though he had season
- 27:22Speaker 2: tickets too. Of course that's shitty, but can I can I.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Also just say I have a feeling if he took
- 27:27Speaker 1: her to the Chargers games, she'd be writing a piece
- 27:30Speaker 1: about how he made me go to Chargers games.
- 27:34Speaker 2: True, true, because she's like, he gave me really nice
- 27:36Speaker 2: houses to grow up in, Like, oh my god, how
- 27:39Speaker 2: dare he that seems important? Right?
- 27:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I just yeah, it's just it's so pathetic how the
- 27:48Speaker 2: New York Times is just anti men and the whole
- 27:51Speaker 2: the whole left really is just anti men. They really
- 27:55Speaker 2: don't get it. The Tennessee Titans, Happy Father's Day to
- 27:59Speaker 2: all the Titans, moms and fatherly figures. I mean, play Travis,
- 28:03Speaker 2: come get your team.
- 28:05Speaker 1: They can't even just say fathers like that's one of
- 28:08Speaker 1: the category.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it can't be. It can't be fathers. Fathers
- 28:11Speaker 2: don't count.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Come on, I want to note. Gavin Newsom says, this
- 28:16Speaker 1: Father's Day, I'm thinking of the families torn apart by
- 28:18Speaker 1: Trump's cruel deportation policies. Innocent kids are paying the price
- 28:22Speaker 1: simply because their dads showed up for work, we're near
- 28:24Speaker 1: a home depot, or we're in the wrong place at
- 28:26Speaker 1: the wrong time. This cruelty must end. Okay, let's put
- 28:30Speaker 1: aside the fact checking of that particular tweet.
- 28:32Speaker 2: But like any other father rights right.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Anyone out there, as I just all these holidays have
- 28:41Speaker 1: so much creep. Now, yeah, you have to make Father's
- 28:45Speaker 1: Day about people who aren't fathers as well, right, you
- 28:48Speaker 1: have to.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And I think Dad's right, and I think it's always
- 28:52Speaker 4: I think it's nice to be aware that people have
- 28:55Speaker 4: issues with their parents or have lost parents and all
- 28:59Speaker 4: that stuff, Like we can all acknowledge that that's part
- 29:01Speaker 4: of life.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Sure, I'm in a family where someone might think it's
- 29:04Speaker 1: sensitive to say things to us on Father's Day, right, right, right,
- 29:08Speaker 1: I'm not worried about it. But even for those who are,
- 29:11Speaker 1: let's not make Mother's Day or Father's Day overtaken by
- 29:17Speaker 1: the grief that others feel. Like. We can just make
- 29:20Speaker 1: it about the mothers and the fathers who are with us,
- 29:22Speaker 1: and the mothers and the fathers we've lost.
- 29:23Speaker 2: That we are honoring still, like exactly.
- 29:26Speaker 1: It's such a downer sometimes on social media when everyone's like,
- 29:30Speaker 1: just remember other people are sat right, that's right.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I know, yes, I'm fully aware, but that's not what the.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Day is about, because that's not what the day's about anyway.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Thanks to the dad's and my family who we had
- 29:43Speaker 1: a great time with and.
- 29:44Speaker 2: In mine, we really are lucky to have some incredible men.
- 29:48Speaker 2: My husband, father in law, my brother is just a
- 29:51Speaker 2: great dad and uncle. I just you know, really really
- 29:54Speaker 2: good guys and We're lucky to have them.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Maybe someone could have found somebody to write a not
- 29:58Speaker 1: bad about them.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Yeah, that would have been nice.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Next time we can shoot for it next year.
