- 0:56Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 1:00United We Scan podcast. And welcome back, everybody.
- 1:06Episode 60. Oh wow, we're moving up in the
- 1:09world. So tonight we're all just kind
- 1:12of hanging out. We know the Super Bowl's on why
- 1:14we're recording this, so we really don't have a huge agenda
- 1:18at all. We're just going to hang out and
- 1:20chit chat and cover a few things.
- 1:22You know, we got an e-mail to go over and a few other things to
- 1:27discuss, but other than that, how was your week, Josh?
- 1:32My week was pretty damn good. It was only there Monday and
- 1:36Friday. Filled out 120 day letter.
- 1:42Monday afternoon gave it to the supervisor.
- 1:45Her desk is all the way across the floor, work room floor for
- 1:49more of my cases by the back door.
- 1:52She signed it and handed it back to me.
- 1:55So I made a cut, you know, I made a copy of it.
- 2:00I scanned it in and sent it to my AD Rs so he could send it to
- 2:05the person that actually assigns the RC as to the routes when
- 2:09they come in. And Friday morning I gave it to
- 2:14the opening supervisor and said yeah, she signed it but didn't
- 2:19keep a copy for herself so. We'll see.
- 2:24And I marked my calendar for 120 days from Monday so I can get
- 2:33that 8191 and submit it if need be.
- 2:35What? What about Brown dating it?
- 2:42Well, unfortunately they don't have access to.
- 2:49Two Pros are supposed to have brown dates but and the clerks
- 2:54up at the window. Well by then the the window is
- 2:57closed. They won't stamp anything
- 2:59anymore. They won't date anything
- 3:01anymore. Supervisor has to get it dated,
- 3:03but it is signed and dated. However, I think the supervisor
- 3:08was not paying attention and she put 2/5 or whatever that date
- 3:14was of 23, not 24 when she signed it.
- 3:19So it's untimely now. Well I broke 24 on it so when I
- 3:24dated it. Decided to go find her time
- 3:27machine though, right? Yeah.
- 3:30James, how was your week? The usual at the post office,
- 3:34other than one day I did get a half a tray of raw mail.
- 3:38Well, second pass DPS. It wasn't in full order and it
- 3:42was literally the DPS right out of my trays, but the supervisor
- 3:48gave me 15 minutes for it 8127 time and also had a full tray of
- 3:57raw another day literal raw that time and had to case that it
- 4:02gave me 25 more minutes. I'm 8127 times I almost do an
- 4:05hour of 8127 time for a week. Other than that, just normal
- 4:11stuff. And of course love getting
- 4:14emails and information from people of things that are
- 4:17occurring that we don't have access to anymore.
- 4:21So it's great to be involved with that stuff and learn that
- 4:24stuff. And also getting all the
- 4:26messages from people has been really inspiring as well.
- 4:30That's been my week, pretty much.
- 4:32Bill, how was your week? Well, it it's been surprisingly
- 4:36quiet and light mail wise, flat wise, parcel wise.
- 4:42And of course some some of the older veterans of our office are
- 4:47like this is just like the mail count.
- 4:49Well, you know that's it's not that way anymore.
- 4:53But the question you know that I have to ask is are are they
- 4:57going to have people in the plants checking all the volumes
- 5:00in regards to the mini Mail survey, we have a, I'll say less
- 5:06than inspiring ADR for our region.
- 5:10So I'll be on top of that in regards to what she's doing.
- 5:15We also had a situation where past Sunday, our Subs were out
- 5:21delivering the Amazon. Well, we contracted with Amazon
- 5:25and we delivered Amazon a Sunday, but we're delivering
- 5:28everything else too. We're delivering USPSU, PS:,
- 5:32FedEx and any other. Jimmy John comes down the road
- 5:36on Sundays and our Subs were concerned because on average
- 5:40they do 120 to about 160, maybe 170 stops.
- 5:45Not packages stops because you can have multiple drops or an
- 5:49address. They were averaging 240 to 300
- 5:55and working 9 hour days on a Sunday and they're swearing by
- 6:00God that they're taking Monday stuff out.
- 6:03So I bypassed the whole system, went directly to the Dr. to see
- 6:08if we can find out you know whether or not they're doing it.
- 6:10Because in our office we do have a parcel sorting machine which
- 6:14is set up to deliver static routes under the the West, what
- 6:20we call them W routes on in our office.
- 6:23So they can be diverting Monday packaging for Sunday deliveries,
- 6:29which is going to be hurting our evaluation.
- 6:33Now unfortunately they're already paying us on last year's
- 6:37mini mail survey evaluation. So technically we're getting
- 6:40paid for what we did in in within the last year and then
- 6:44they're turning around and they're paying the Subs on
- 6:48Sunday for the same deliveries we're getting credit for for the
- 6:51past year's you know data. But next year it it will turn
- 6:56around and we won't be getting credit for what the Subs are
- 6:58doing this year in in that circumstance.
- 7:01I said you know let's make the call and find out what's going
- 7:04on and hopefully we can get some resolution to it.
- 7:09I'm not confident, but you know I'm waiting for the old comment.
- 7:14Management's allowed to mismanage.
- 7:16Other than that, you know it's been a fun week, you know, and
- 7:20ended up with two days with the grandchildren and there's
- 7:23nothing more glorious than having a grandchild throw up on
- 7:27you, let me tell you, and the and the poor little guy and and
- 7:33and me, I'm. I'm more concerned about not
- 7:36getting on the carpeting in the living room.
- 7:38So I'm just letting him throw up all over my chest, you know, and
- 7:43keeping it between me and him and my wife goes, what do you
- 7:46want to do? I we're walking right up to the
- 7:48shower. We're in the shower like this.
- 7:52And it's funny because we got, got got the little guy showered
- 7:55and you know, got to change the clothes and everything.
- 7:58And he, he just turned around and fell asleep in my arms.
- 8:01And there's nothing more precious than that, I'll tell
- 8:04you. It's, you know, with all all
- 8:06this shit that goes on in the world, you know all the
- 8:08complaints we have about work and management, our union, and
- 8:13every other thing that bothers us.
- 8:15It is so beautiful to have a child fall asleep in your army.
- 8:20And that's how my week ended. Oh, that sounds like an amazing
- 8:24ending to the week for. Sure, yeah, I I am a softy at
- 8:27heart until you piss me off. The week wasn't too bad.
- 8:35Week. I think all the parcels I didn't
- 8:39have the week before found their way back to me this past week.
- 8:44Male was average and well, yeah, my parcels were back.
- 8:48And then we started the OJT for my new sub yesterday and that
- 8:54actually went really well. So I only had to jump in,
- 8:58deliver, not even a quarter of the route really was just like
- 9:0310 hours worth just to get us back up on schedule.
- 9:05And then I let him take back over again and we were back just
- 9:09under evaluation. Oh, I can't complain about that.
- 9:12Day #2 is tomorrow. We'll see what training on a
- 9:15Monday's like. But he is very gung ho.
- 9:18He catches on quickly and I'm looking forward to this because
- 9:24soon as I get him trained, I think after Wednesday, I think
- 9:26I'm starting training another new RCA on Thursday.
- 9:30I don't know when I'm actually going to get back to my route.
- 9:34Because. They got two more RC as that
- 9:38just finished up Academy to train.
- 9:41Bill, I did find out. I forget who it was that told
- 9:43me, but the difference between when they used to label them L
- 9:48and now they're W. Right.
- 9:52The difference between with the L or the West for the Sunday
- 9:56runs is if it's stands as dynamic or static.
- 10:01Right. But that that doesn't dictate
- 10:04whether or not they're throwing the Monday stuff on there.
- 10:08You know that's that's just the designation static or
- 10:13designation for the static so that the carriers can use the
- 10:17scanners to set the loads up, you know, right.
- 10:20So it but it it it doesn't determine.
- 10:23What is the Monday? Yeah, they shouldn't be doing
- 10:27Monday. Parcels on Sunday.
- 10:29Exactly. And and that's, you know like I
- 10:32said that's our concerns that you know we're not going to get
- 10:34credit for them down the line. Yeah, yeah.
- 10:36Especially if it's an extra 100 or so parcels for each carrier,
- 10:42you know each sub that's in there.
- 10:46Running parcels like I said we we we had five Subs out there
- 10:50and and the you know the the lowest day was a nine hour day
- 10:57everybody you know the other four came in above 9 hours on a
- 11:01Sunday and it you know you're not talking Christmas or you
- 11:04know great big hop shopping holiday you're you're talking
- 11:08about you know a Sunday in the middle of February right.
- 11:14Yeah, I I, you know, I I got a guy I posted a response to
- 11:19somebody you know who came back to me and saying you know oh
- 11:22it's a bunch of crud, this and that and and I explained that
- 11:25you know I I got a nine year carrier who hasn't had anybody
- 11:31come in and explain Rex in their office.
- 11:34The supervisor and the postmaster don't know anything
- 11:37about Rex. All they do is hand out the
- 11:38Cheat Sheets. And he was questioning
- 11:41authorized dismounts and had no clue about authorized dismounts.
- 11:45Worked. And I'm sitting there going,
- 11:47Well, folks, we're we're in the 11th year of the introduction.
- 11:51We're in the third year of implementation of of recording
- 11:54bread crumbs in there. And you still don't have any
- 11:58idea. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I
- 12:01will blame the carrier for that because there is information,
- 12:06whether you're a union member or not, that you can make available
- 12:11to yourself because this is your paycheck.
- 12:15It's not mine. It's not Kristen's or James or
- 12:17Josh's. This is your paycheck that you
- 12:19have to protect and you're not putting in the effort.
- 12:24And like I said in my response, if you can watch your favorite
- 12:27TV show, you know once a week, or if you can binge watch a
- 12:30series or, you know, play, you know your video games for a
- 12:34couple hours. Take 10 minutes a day and invest
- 12:38in yourself. Learn to protect yourself.
- 12:43An educated carrier is the most dangerous carrier to management
- 12:48because then they can't bully you, they can't intimidate you
- 12:52and they can't lie to you. So if you want to protect your
- 12:56future, it starts with you. We can give you advice your your
- 13:01your local Stewart area, Stewart ADRDR.
- 13:05They can help protect you for disciplinary issues or
- 13:08contractual, you know, grievances.
- 13:11But it starts with you, and you're the one that has to step
- 13:15up first. And if you, if if you're not
- 13:18comfortable with that, e-mail us, text us, call us, whatever,
- 13:23We'll help you. But you have to make the first
- 13:27effort. Take the first step, because
- 13:30it's your paycheck. And that's going to lead right
- 13:33into this e-mail I received today.
- 13:37I am not naming any names or locations, but I will kind of
- 13:42read a little bit of a condensed version here.
- 13:47It says hey guys, I've been listening for a while, small 4
- 13:51route office. Today we had an enhancement
- 13:55training for our locals held by our Dr. and our ADR.
- 14:00Two things I wanted to bring up from the meeting.
- 14:02One when talking about social media policy they brought up
- 14:06podcast. They said how a few people have
- 14:08been decertified because of it and I'm assuming they were
- 14:11talking about y'all. Yeah, pretty much.
- 14:17And then the one went went on to the Dr. went on to threatening
- 14:23everyone there if quotes. If you bring up Yuri Steward
- 14:27online anywhere and I see it, I will decertify you.
- 14:31I need to hear your guys's take. Well, we'll go ahead.
- 14:36What's your take on that one, Bill?
- 14:39Well, first of all, to me it sounds like a threat.
- 14:44It sounds like focused and timidation.
- 14:48So you're suppressing my freedom of speech, you know, to corral
- 14:54my actions. You're not allowed to say that
- 14:58you're a steward, OK. Under the current guidelines,
- 15:04I'm not quite sure that they can enforce that but as we have seen
- 15:09through through their decertification of us, they have
- 15:12no qualms of exercising a a Nazi style rule over this union.
- 15:19To me, I, I, I, I might I might go directly after that person or
- 15:24to that person. In regards to the comments and
- 15:27how it was you know, phrased because of the fact that you
- 15:31know to me this is a a like I said, a focused attempt to
- 15:35intimidate everybody to stay in line and tow the the company
- 15:40policy and it pisses me off, I'm done.
- 15:44James, do you have anything to say about that before I continue
- 15:47on to the next part? Well, considering that I'm the
- 15:52one who has discussed the issues with that social media policy
- 15:58multiple times in multiple places, the biggest take away
- 16:02here, if you're a steward and you're proud of it, you should
- 16:06be able to say I'm proud to be a local steward.
- 16:10You should be 1-2 things like that.
- 16:14But the social media policy as it stands for the NRLCA is too
- 16:21overly broad and this comes from a National Labor Relations Board
- 16:27attorney. This is not coming from me.
- 16:31This is coming from that attorney and them.
- 16:33To turn around and threaten people like that, To silence
- 16:39people like that is just wrong, rude and condescending.
- 16:46We go back to the social media training that the NRLCA put on
- 16:52for the stewards, which makes it interesting that they just had
- 16:55the enhancement training with the National board and then the
- 16:58Dr. decides to turn around and have another one a couple weeks
- 17:02later. Or was it?
- 17:03A week later, somewhere around there just tells you exactly
- 17:08where their mindset is. It's not about getting you the
- 17:12best representation from your stewards, it's about controlling
- 17:16the narrative that gets put out everywhere.
- 17:20It's pretty simple to tell that just by the fact that they did
- 17:25have their post open for comments not too long ago and
- 17:29the number of comments on there that were available for people
- 17:32to read. Not a single one of them was in
- 17:37support of the National Board. Not a single one.
- 17:42Now granted, you ask the president and he'll tell you,
- 17:47oh, all those people are just non dues paying members.
- 17:50They don't matter. But if you want to read them,
- 17:53they're available over on Rural Mail Carriers United Facebook
- 17:56group. I saved every single one of them
- 17:59for you guys to read in posterity.
- 18:02All right. On to the second one, our second
- 18:06part I should say. The Dr. and ADR also explain
- 18:10that we now have to do what is called a grievance activity log
- 18:16last day of the month. We have to send the Dr. log of
- 18:20all the grievances we file. We've never had to send anyone a
- 18:23grievance log before. She threatened us with the
- 18:25certification again if we did not send them to her timely.
- 18:29When asked why do we have to do these all of a sudden, seemingly
- 18:32out of nowhere, the ADR exclaimed.
- 18:36The director of Stewart Operations said so, and no other
- 18:40real reason was given except to keep track.
- 18:42Is this normal? This is my first enhancement
- 18:47session I've been to. This is all still new to me.
- 18:51Thanks for all you do. I'm trying to meet more people
- 18:54in our union and grow my connections so I can learn as
- 18:57much as I can. What you guys are doing, not
- 18:59only for the craft but for the next generation of union leaders
- 19:03is, is what separates you guys from our current national board
- 19:06and quite frankly unions in general.
- 19:08I put in my ballot for National Convention so if I get elected
- 19:11you may you have my support, feel free to e-mail me about
- 19:15anything, I'm open, blah blah blah.
- 19:19And it just I don't believe. OK, he did name drop ADR and
- 19:26Dr., but I did not mention those names.
- 19:28So I don't believe the best intentions for the Craft and
- 19:30only the politics of the union itself.
- 19:33There, I condensed it. Well, I want to say firstly
- 19:37thank you and congratulations for getting involved and wanting
- 19:40to get involved in regards to the grievance activity log.
- 19:47I know years ago when I was a Stewart, we had one in our
- 19:52district, but we didn't have to submit it, you know, except for
- 19:57we had to turn it in with all of your other union, you know,
- 20:01Stewart files. When you resign or you know, but
- 20:05yet we didn't have to turn it in on a monthly basis.
- 20:11Taylor, James. And.
- 20:13James. Well, when I read through my
- 20:18Stewart training booklet that I have though, it does say that
- 20:23you are to send in a copy of the grievance log for each grievance
- 20:29after the grievance is completed.
- 20:34It doesn't say that you have to send them in every month.
- 20:36It doesn't say you have to send them in, you know, a specific
- 20:40date or or anything like that, or you just send them to your
- 20:44Dr. when the grievance is completed.
- 20:47So I don't know why they're saying every at the end of the
- 20:51month, every month, you have to send it in kind of thing.
- 20:54But they can change the rules anytime they want, as long as
- 20:58it's not something that is codified in the Constitution.
- 21:02Bill, anything on that? Yes, I I received a a log and it
- 21:11was almost like a a carbonless checkbook type you know booklet
- 21:16and you had to record when you started the grievance who the
- 21:20grievant was, what type and you know so on and so forth.
- 21:23Disciplinary, contractual and RDR required us to go out and
- 21:29buy prepaid first class letters from the post office, get a
- 21:34receipt, submit them for, you know, you know remittance back
- 21:38to us. And we were to send them in
- 21:41every time we filed A grievance so that he would have a timeline
- 21:46on when the grievance was started.
- 21:48You know the the, you know where it was, you know and everything
- 21:51else. And it was one of those things
- 21:55where I kind of lapsed on it because of the fact that that
- 22:02there was nothing to really to make substantiate the need to do
- 22:07this while I was in the process of of researching the grievance.
- 22:13OK. Once it became an actual, you
- 22:16know, grievance and assigned a number and everything, fine,
- 22:20then. Then you know we're we're fine
- 22:22and dandy. But, you know, in the first
- 22:23stages of the process, you know, until I get a number to assign
- 22:28to it, there's no need for me to forward this to you.
- 22:31And in retrospect, with RDR resigning his position,
- 22:39allegedly, I find it kind of contradictory that you're
- 22:44demanding the, the, the bulk of the work to be done by the
- 22:50stewards who aren't getting time from management to do all this.
- 22:55That's prepared. If you look at the paperwork on
- 22:58a standard grievance file, how many pages are in there?
- 23:02People, 1516 plus pages per grievance interviews, you know,
- 23:09releases, you know, the the request for information, the the
- 23:14grievance itself. I mean, you know, the, you know,
- 23:16I need a Form 50, I need this. All the work for the grievance
- 23:22starts with the local steward, and they're the ones not being
- 23:25paid unless management's giving them the time.
- 23:27And since we still have a shortage of substitute carriers,
- 23:31we often wouldn't get the time to do everything required by the
- 23:35National Steward System to just file paperwork.
- 23:40An average. An average grievance for me was
- 23:43at least 30 pages long. All said and done.
- 23:48Now, unfortunately, I got the postmaster train to the point
- 23:52where I would file agreements and give them a settlement, a
- 23:55copy at the same time, and he would sign both and somebody
- 23:59would be paid within the, you know, one or two pay periods.
- 24:02Then then I got these certified for being on the podcast.
- 24:06So you know, to me, if if you're not going to help the local
- 24:11stewards just like you know everybody else in the union, OK,
- 24:15if you don't help the troops on the ground, you're not going to
- 24:19make much progress in keeping management in check.
- 24:23You know, in regards to the contract, in regards to, you
- 24:26know, the toxic atmosphere, in regards to anything.
- 24:30You know if you don't have the guns on the ground, you can't
- 24:36win the fight. And that that's a that's a big
- 24:39problem for me. And when James is the the
- 24:42steward of director of Stewart Operations, we can change that.
- 24:47Now I want to kind of bring in touch.
- 24:49We did have a private message earlier, right along the lines
- 24:52of this e-mail, which I found I got.
- 24:54I saw the e-mail after I was reading the the private message
- 25:00and I'm just going to read part of it again.
- 25:02They had had enhancement training and when the social
- 25:06media policy was brought up, they didn't call out the podcast
- 25:09by name. But they said along the lines of
- 25:11we know there's a podcast out there trying to get stewards to
- 25:14talk on there. Don't do that.
- 25:17If you talk on a podcast or social media in a steward
- 25:19capacity, you'll be immediately de certified.
- 25:22Some people have already had. Wasn't their exact words, but it
- 25:26was something like that. OK, I don't remember us asking
- 25:29for stewards to come on to you. I do not I unless one of them
- 25:35had seen the Google form. And then, yes, for those that
- 25:38are interested in coming on here, we do ask if you are a
- 25:42steward because we don't want you to be decertified if you are
- 25:48a steward. We're not just going to bring
- 25:50anybody on. You know, if you tell us you're
- 25:54a steward, we're going to immediately say, look, you know,
- 25:58this is what could happen if you're on here.
- 26:01It's basically to avoid that, not trying to bring stewards on.
- 26:05So that's clarification. Not trying to say, hey, if
- 26:09you're a steward, come on with us.
- 26:11No, no. The last thing we want is for
- 26:14another steward to get decertified because of us.
- 26:17And that's how we. Yeah.
- 26:19And that's why we offer the anonymity of, you know, not
- 26:22naming yourself and, you know, not presenting yourself, you
- 26:26know, in a fashion that would jeopardize your standing with
- 26:28the national steward system. And again, the views expressed
- 26:33here do not represent the views, opinions or strategies of the
- 26:36United States Postal Service or the National Real Air Carriers
- 26:39Association. And on top of that, if you
- 26:42remember from the steward training that National gave, it
- 26:47doesn't matter if you identify yourself as a steward or not.
- 26:52If somebody recognizes you as a steward, you could be
- 26:56decertified for commenting on social media or being involved
- 26:59in a podcast. Also, we also have to remember
- 27:02Fed Up does do a lot of interviews with carriers, so
- 27:07that's another place where they possibly could be crossing over.
- 27:10Now, we're not specifically kind of go against that, honestly.
- 27:15You know, if somebody reaches out to us and they let us know
- 27:19that they are a steward, then you know, we let them know up
- 27:23front, hey, if you're found out, they're going to decertify you.
- 27:26I mean, that's your personal choice.
- 27:28We're not making anybody come on here or telling them they have
- 27:32to, or searching out certain categories of employee, not at
- 27:36all. I mean, yeah, the last thing we
- 27:39want is for anybody else to lose their capacity, to help defend
- 27:44their craft. We we, we.
- 27:47That is not a aim, a goal of ours at all.
- 27:51We want you on the front lines because there's so few of you.
- 27:55So protect yourself. OK, James, what it was.
- 27:59I think I got the couple things that I wanted to cover.
- 28:02Oh, I do have something else I want to talk about, but I can do
- 28:05that after James's. It's not a huge thing.
- 28:09Jim, I got a fought off the press from the Iowa State
- 28:14President, Kathy Galantine. I'm going to call her out on
- 28:20this one because everybody who's in Iowa knows who their state
- 28:23president is. Might as well name her here as
- 28:26well. Put out an article about
- 28:29delegates to National Convention and we wanted to thank her for
- 28:34calling out the podcast because everything she said in that
- 28:39article was pretty much directed at this podcast.
- 28:44So we wanted to thank her for putting our podcast into her
- 28:48state paper. And if you want to read my
- 28:51breakdown of it, I did put it in a lot of groups, including the
- 28:56United We Scan podcast group, the Royal Mail Carriers United
- 29:00group. If you want to read my
- 29:01breakdown, I broke it down in terms of Fair use articles.
- 29:09I was a commenter on the articles so therefore it is
- 29:12under fair use and cannot be considered as a copyrighted
- 29:15material. But she did a good job of
- 29:19calling us out and putting our podcast out there without
- 29:24specifically naming it. So I just wanted to thank her
- 29:27for doing that and sending us more people from the state of
- 29:30Iowa all. Right, so a first announcement
- 29:37is we finally have merch. I posted the link it should be
- 29:43up on the podcast notes, a link for merch and I know it's also
- 29:51posted on the page as well as in the Facebook group that will
- 29:57probably be revolving around as we go.
- 30:02And so other than that, yeah, we've got merch now and I did
- 30:09noted that any of the proceeds for the merch it is we're using
- 30:12a drop ship company. So everything's made it to order
- 30:16and any of the proceeds will be split between the low amount and
- 30:21production costs that we have. And then I do believe before
- 30:25when we talked about doing it, if we did have any funds that
- 30:29came in, we'd be donating it to the charity that the auxiliary
- 30:33picks every year at National Convention.
- 30:38I thought we were using it to pay Chris.
- 30:42He wishes, but no. Yeah, no.
- 30:48The auxiliary charity is the charity that minimal expenses.
- 30:55You know, I'm with 30 bucks at most a month, maybe UPS.
- 30:59So yeah, we're not keeping that money, guys.
- 31:02We don't want it. But I know everybody's been
- 31:04asking for merch, so I found a way to get that out there for
- 31:10you guys. And for your old heads out
- 31:13there, she's speaking about merchandise for United We Scan
- 31:18and the endeavors by the hosts here getting to the national
- 31:23office. Yes, I do have campaign shirts
- 31:28for four people up there as well.
- 31:32And then we have T-shirts. I think there's some tank tops
- 31:35up there. There's hoodies, coffee, mugs,
- 31:39hats. And I know I've had a couple
- 31:43people already message and say, hey, how about these slogans?
- 31:46So we'll be putting some slogan T-shirts and stuff up there
- 31:49soon. So like I said, the links are in
- 31:52the show notes and on the Facebook page and group.
- 31:58And there are no thongs available through this website.
- 32:03Nope, I look. The best I could do was a string
- 32:05bikini bottom no thongs. Oh oh, I'm all flutter now.
- 32:15I look. Material.
- 32:18Just have to go with my one piece.
- 32:20There you go. There you go.
- 32:23So I have a question that popped up OK that what is the
- 32:30consequences for bringing back DPS and magazines to the office
- 32:34at night. This comes from an RCA who could
- 32:39not complete the route and when they got back with the stuff
- 32:47they were told they were being removed and then to come back on
- 32:53Wednesday to receive the I. I I think that RCA needs to
- 32:57contact their assigned student representation ASAP.
- 33:04I agree and this the they continued.
- 33:08I was on a route I hadn't been on before and I'm fairly new to
- 33:12the area so I'm not that quick. The supervisor kept calling me
- 33:15and telling me I needed to get back, so it sounds more like
- 33:19double jeopardy to me. Either you bring the stuff back
- 33:22or you finish the route and get fired for not following a direct
- 33:25order. They can't have it both ways.
- 33:28They either want you to come back, be back by a certain time,
- 33:31or deliver the mail. You can't do both in my office,
- 33:35Definitely. Go ahead.
- 33:37Definitely get a hold of your local representative.
- 33:41Now in my office, when we have situations like that, and this
- 33:45is where I talk about us being a family, whether we like each
- 33:50other or not, because we have family members we don't like, my
- 33:54whole family doesn't like me. No, OK.
- 33:57The the thing of it is. We're not comprised.
- 34:00We we explain to the newbies. OK, if you get into a situation
- 34:06where time becomes critical of you delivering and if you don't
- 34:10know the route especially in the dark, OK, you're going to create
- 34:14more and more headaches than you know you can solve by trying to
- 34:17to complete the route. Unfortunately management like in
- 34:21this case will be calling the carrier, not supposed to be
- 34:23calling the carrier unless it's an emergency situation.
- 34:26If you come into a a problem in delivering your route in a
- 34:31timely fashion or before it's dark and and ladies and
- 34:35gentlemen darkness is just as unsafe as snow and ice and
- 34:40everything else, OK, you can place the call to management or
- 34:44take a call from management. Explain the situation and say in
- 34:48our office they'll say just deliver the packages and spurs,
- 34:52bring the mail back that it out and we'll take care of it.
- 34:55This it seems like this local management's going a little, you
- 34:58know, above and beyond in regards to discipline.
- 35:03I mean safety is supposed to be the first aspect of your job,
- 35:06correct? Yes.
- 35:09OK. Whether you do the job, yeah.
- 35:11Whether you do the job correctly or not, your safety is paramount
- 35:16to you and you should be to the United States Postal Service.
- 35:21So if this carrier goes back and says you're being removed, come
- 35:24back in tomorrow for an I and IA.
- 35:27OK, You contact your local union representative and B, you can't
- 35:33have an I and I until your union representative is there.
- 35:36So don't worry about being there tomorrow because your union Rep
- 35:39won't be there unless you have one in the office and C file a
- 35:44grievance for threatening intimidation and harassment.
- 35:48File, file, file, and smile. Don't be intimidated by these
- 35:52people, even if you're under 90 days.
- 35:54I know many, many newbies don't want to do anything when they're
- 35:59under that 90 day clock. If you don't stand up, they're
- 36:04going to harangue you for the rest of your career at the post
- 36:07office. I have a regular carrier my
- 36:11office that wanders in a little late every day, you know, and
- 36:16because he does getting written up, when they come over and ask
- 36:19him for his truck keys to give to a city carrier, he doesn't
- 36:23protest and they they just walk over them because of the fact
- 36:28that, you know, they may start discipline on him because of
- 36:31his, you know, lateness every day.
- 36:34Don't let it start because once it starts they never let up.
- 36:41But yes, contact your local representation.
- 36:45I wouldn't come back in the next day unless they have a local
- 36:47steward in the office and then I would file 034 grievances, at
- 36:54least against his manager for threatening you.
- 36:58You know you're doing your best. You know you're you're making,
- 37:00you're putting forth the effort and they're haranguing you for
- 37:05the fact that, you know, you didn't deliver all the mail.
- 37:08I don't know how many times, city routes and rural routes, my
- 37:12office didn't go out because of lack of carriers and all they
- 37:17did was deliver the parcels and spurs because that's the only
- 37:20thing that shows up on the reports.
- 37:22Like we said, you can't have it both ways.
- 37:24There's got to be middle ground. Get a hold of your union
- 37:27representation. Find the middle ground.
- 37:30And I would say if you do go in and they bring you in the office
- 37:35for the I, I when you're and a Rep is not there anything they
- 37:41ask you, your answer should be where's my Rep.
- 37:44Yep. What's your name?
- 37:46Where's my Rep? Are you aware of Where is my
- 37:50Rep? Did you?
- 37:51Did you dot dot dot? I'm waiting on my Rep.
- 37:56And then if they say that you were not being cooperative,
- 38:01that's something that they that's something else that the
- 38:03union can fight because you're entitled to union representation
- 38:08during the investigative interview and you were not
- 38:11afforded that right? Did did anybody ever notice that
- 38:15the the the old terminology of PDI, predetermination,
- 38:19investigation or interview? What was basically saying we're
- 38:25we're going to find you guilty, we're just going through the
- 38:27process of of doing it, yeah, the pre disciplinary.
- 38:30Interview. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:32Yeah, yeah. We're going to discipline you.
- 38:34But we have to do this first. Yeah, I find that still doing.
- 38:40Apdi. Yep, Yep.
- 38:43Instead of an investigative interview.
- 38:45Well, apparent. Apparently it's a
- 38:47predetermination interview because they already determined
- 38:50they're going to fire them before they even investigated
- 38:53anything. Well, technically it should be a
- 38:57post determination interview because they already determined
- 38:59it. And if you already determined
- 39:02it, then that means you didn't get due process.
- 39:06Exactly. I I love management.
- 39:11I do. Come on.
- 39:13I know it's it's not nice to pick on the slow kids.
- 39:17But you know management just makes it so easy in our office.
- 39:20I I just, I I sit back and and you know, they say something and
- 39:25I throw a haymaker, you know, and they look at you like, what?
- 39:30Right. Yeah, it's in the contract.
- 39:34What the Hell's wrong with you? But you know it.
- 39:39Like I said, I almost feel bad. Almost.
- 39:43I get it over real quick. I don't feel bad for any
- 39:47management that makes. Blatant.
- 39:50Mistakes like that, blatant mistake because in order to even
- 39:55fire somebody you have to have higher level approval above you
- 40:00to do it in the 1st place. You can't just fire somebody and
- 40:04walk away from it. Your supervising manager above
- 40:08that person has to approve it as well.
- 40:12They have to have concurrence with their supervisor.
- 40:16So them just saying you're fired and walking you out the door.
- 40:21Without that concurrence doesn't work either.
- 40:24Nope. And the concurrence has to be
- 40:26somebody above them. We we I've had, I've had several
- 40:31grievances for removal thrown out for that because the, you
- 40:35know, the concurrence was by a supervisor after the postmaster
- 40:39made the determination. I'm like OK, I guess you don't
- 40:43understand how the process works.
- 40:47Or it comes from like the postmaster or district level
- 40:51says remove them and then the supervisor's the one that wrote
- 40:54it up and it was that person that said to remove them in the
- 40:571st place as signing as a concurrence.
- 40:59Yeah. And then during your interview,
- 41:02the supervisor says, well, district said I had to, you know
- 41:08what I mean? Yeah, and you just say thank you
- 41:12because you just lost it. Thank you.
- 41:14Thank you. And whom from district was it
- 41:17that gave you that order? Right.
- 41:22Details, folks. It's all in the details.
- 41:26Little minute details can definitely matter at times.
- 41:30As minor as they may be. Exactly.
- 41:34And that's what good stewards look for.
- 41:38Those tiny minute details that can easily win a case easily win
- 41:45the case. And that, that's that's what
- 41:48really pissed me off when I got this guy's job back for alleged
- 41:53sexual harassment and, you know, ended up sending 182 pages to
- 41:59the Dr. and you know, highlighting, you know,
- 42:03interviews, incidents. I mean, everybody in the office
- 42:06was interviewed. Clerks, city carriers, rule
- 42:09carriers, custodians. I mean, you know, I had 14 hours
- 42:14in interviews at at my office on this case and I send it up to
- 42:18the Dr. and he gets the job back 4 1/2 months later, but with no
- 42:23back pay. And you know at at the National
- 42:27Convention, you know, I was, I was termed, coined as the angry
- 42:31man. Well, you know what?
- 42:34That has nothing to do with the way I was when I got that
- 42:37settlement. I was flipped that this guy had
- 42:434 1/2 months of no pay and they were giving him his job back and
- 42:47the Dr. made the settlement because it was easier to close
- 42:50it that way. Told me it was easier and I
- 42:55flipped. But then again, then again, if
- 42:59they had sent it up and it got to step four, it would have sat
- 43:02there for six years. Yeah, well, there's still step
- 43:05three too, you know. Yeah.
- 43:08But you know it at that I explained to Josh earlier when
- 43:12it when we talked when I went out for my surgery and I I went
- 43:164 1/2 months, you know, without a a paycheck because my
- 43:20supervisor didn't put it through as as a workman's comp case and
- 43:25most people can't go 4 1/2 months without money.
- 43:28OK, I can afford to, but I you know, most people can't they
- 43:32they can't go 2 weeks, you know, without a paycheck because
- 43:36that's half a month of your your bills.
- 43:39And I'm I'm just like, you know, are you kidding me to make
- 43:44somebody to wait 4 1/2 months? Fortunately this guy I went out
- 43:49and got another job which he stayed with after he came back
- 43:52for one day and then you know, he quit.
- 43:54But imagine trying to get by for 4 1/2 months without pay.
- 43:58I wouldn't be able to survive you.
- 43:59Know I wouldn't survive. I I just, I know I wouldn't.
- 44:03You know, I, I, I, I'm just, you know, so disappointed in, you
- 44:09know, settling for language you know, or getting a job back with
- 44:13no back pay That that's why all my grievances had financial
- 44:16penalties on there. You need to get paid when you're
- 44:21grieved. You know, when when they violate
- 44:23the contract when when they, you know unjustly, you know
- 44:27discipline you there should be a financial penalty to each one of
- 44:31those actions. You don't sit back and just take
- 44:34it and settle for language, because the language that I'll
- 44:37give you, you don't want to hear.
- 44:38Ladies and gentlemen. Yep, and now I've got another
- 44:42one that we have. I have a question about SPMS.
- 44:46Does the postmaster have the authority to tell us to not scan
- 44:50flats at all and only scan the mail she has marked?
- 44:54We do as she says. Isn't that falsifying data?
- 44:58Yes. What's the first thing the SPM
- 45:00tells you to scan? Flats and letters in that order.
- 45:03That's what Rex tells you. Flats and letters in that order.
- 45:07But was it you, Josh, that brought up the fact that, you
- 45:09know, they wanted you to segregate hold mail from, you
- 45:12know, the that day's mail so that the SPMS are correct for
- 45:17that day only? Yep, they they don't want stale
- 45:20or old or dead or however you want to word it, mail because
- 45:24they want it to be tracked. They want to track just what
- 45:27came in through automation that day.
- 45:31It's funny the other day I said something to the supervisor or
- 45:35I'm sorry, the manager because they were going on about SPMS
- 45:39again and I said to him what is the likeliness And I had because
- 45:43it's W2 return season now you know all the IAS doesn't live
- 45:48here, return to senders. So I have 4 pack trays of
- 45:53letters going back to the the one company I have which is
- 45:58mostly the W twos. And I said to him I'm like what
- 46:02is the likeliness? Because the way the SVMS work is
- 46:05when it first goes through, first starts getting processed
- 46:10whether it be I pick it up out of a blue box or it comes out of
- 46:15your mailbox and it first hits automation.
- 46:18They spray the barcode on there and they say it should take 2-3
- 46:23days, whatever it is from here to wherever it's getting
- 46:28delivered to and that's when the SPM gets triggered on your
- 46:32scanner on the route. So they're doing once they on
- 46:37approximately once a quarter or so.
- 46:40When I get an SPM request for this company, what's the
- 46:45likeliness? I'm going to scan that one
- 46:48letter that the system is looking for when you are only
- 46:52scan scan what, 15 pieces? Right.
- 46:55And and the thing of it, here's the trick question, OK.
- 46:59If you're scanning and they're looking for a particular piece,
- 47:03that means they already know what the hell you're supposed to
- 47:05be delivering that tag. So tell me in, in all reality,
- 47:09what is the point of the SPM to say that you delivered it?
- 47:13You know, to say that the tray wasn't dropped and and you know,
- 47:16the clerk had to reshuffle the mail that, you know that that
- 47:19was actually in there. It wasn't hung up in the
- 47:21machine. I mean, you know, I sit there
- 47:25and I and I watch these ladies and gentlemen come into our
- 47:28office. They sit there with a laptop and
- 47:30they and they do a a mail audit on the city carrier side every
- 47:35so often. We yeah, we might we might get
- 47:37it, you know on the rural side, but not very often mostly city
- 47:40carriers. What?
- 47:41What are you doing besides, you know, justifying your $80,000 a
- 47:45year salary? The oldest testing, which is
- 47:47what you were just talking about.
- 47:48Where they come in, where it could be anywhere from
- 47:51everything in the office to a single route to just letters,
- 47:55just flats, just parcels. That has something to do with
- 48:01volume versus postage cost. I don't know exactly what it is.
- 48:06I'm I'm friendly with the one of the Otis testers in my area
- 48:11who's actually their supervisor now.
- 48:13But with the SPMS, the reason that we're doing it this way now
- 48:16is because they were pay. It cost us 25% of the cost
- 48:21'cause they were they were paying an outside company to do
- 48:25it. And basically what they would do
- 48:26is send mail out to certain customers.
- 48:32And for you or me it would look like a utility bill.
- 48:35But when the customer gets it and opens it up, it'll have a
- 48:38sheet of paper saying please call this toll free number upon
- 48:42receipt of the letter. So they could track, you know,
- 48:46they knew when they put it in the mail stream and when the
- 48:49customer received it. So they're calling in saying
- 48:52that they received it so many days later, which is a
- 48:55congressional thing that we have to show this, do this testing to
- 49:01show how long it takes for the mail to get processed start to
- 49:05finish. And they had, you know, they
- 49:09have to have a minimum percentage which is like mid to
- 49:15high 80%, 80 something percent accuracy.
- 49:22And when you're looking for that one particular letter, if I scan
- 49:27all 15 pieces and those 15 pieces are not included in it,
- 49:31that counts as a failure. But not on me, just on the
- 49:34system as a whole. That's the first time I've I've
- 49:37heard that explained. But you know I'll I'll counter
- 49:39your explanation with the fact that you know when I get the
- 49:43SPMS 99% because the stuff I have is third class mail and I'm
- 49:50not talking even letters I mean yeah third class junk mail and
- 49:56you know there's there's nothing hidden in there for the customer
- 49:58open up and respond to. So you know, I, I yeah, I
- 50:03understand your reasoning and and justification of, you know,
- 50:07Yoda's system and how they, you know, track performance.
- 50:09But ladies and gentlemen, you know I hardly ever see anything
- 50:14of value in the FPM. Talking about the time before we
- 50:17had scanners to be able to scan those barcodes and stuff like
- 50:20that for that test. And now we have the scanners.
- 50:25They've basically replaced that letter with anything in the
- 50:29mail, whether it be a third class piece, second class piece,
- 50:32first class piece, any piece of mail they wish to track that has
- 50:36a barcode on the bottom of it, they can now.
- 50:39Yeah. Right.
- 50:40And I I want to say that the third party company that was
- 50:44doing it before we were paying them something like $100 million
- 50:48a year. So that eliminated most of that
- 50:51cost by being able to do it through, you know, the the SPMS
- 50:55through the scanner now. Yeah.
- 50:57But we still have the people who come in and do the audits and,
- 51:00you know, on a regular basis. Well, that's the the Otis
- 51:04testing is something completely different.
- 51:06Right, but. You know.
- 51:08Explain to me justify that. Justify.
- 51:11That. Because in our district we have
- 51:1423 of them. That's a. $1,000,000 a year.
- 51:18Yeah, I don't know what you know, I like I said the the
- 51:22closest I can tell you what there is a is a cost analysis,
- 51:28some something between you know volume versus postage cost.
- 51:33It seems like they spend a lot of money doing reports instead
- 51:36of learning the contract or wreck, you know, or or or
- 51:39training their people and you know how how to be civil on the
- 51:43work floor. This I agree with you on.
- 51:48I have to agree with you on that as well, because I've had a
- 51:51whole lot of, you know, in the 3 1/2 years of my first office.
- 51:56I think I saw Otis there once or twice.
- 52:00I can't count how many times I have seen them in my current
- 52:04office in the 5 1/2 years I've been there.
- 52:08I literally for a little while. I think they were there at least
- 52:11once a month, and it's probably been a couple months since I've
- 52:16seen them now. But they were literally there
- 52:19all the time. My office.
- 52:22It was crazy. Well, it's funny when years ago
- 52:27when I was talking to the, the one guy I'm friendly with,
- 52:30they're on the third floor at the plant, which is a secure
- 52:35office. So you need a a badge, a key
- 52:39card to get in there. His boss, who's not stationed
- 52:43here in the area when she shows up, does not have access.
- 52:48So she has to ring the bell and they can see her on the, the
- 52:52video camera, you know, the camera outside, the surveillance
- 52:54camera outside. So they can put, you know, quit,
- 52:59you know, quit her slacking off and put all their junk away and
- 53:05make it look like they're working before they let her in.
- 53:08That doesn't surrender. Allegedly.
- 53:11Allegedly. Allegedly.
- 53:12Allegedly, supposedly. Allegedly.
- 53:17All right, we got anything else, guys?
- 53:18We're going to wrap it up tonight and make it a short
- 53:20night. I got one more.
- 53:23All right, go for it. This one will.
- 53:26This one will get Bill. And this will probably get you
- 53:28too, Kristen. I am on the RDWL.
- 53:32Always take a deck of five when I work my K day.
- 53:36I've worked the last four K days and I was told today that the
- 53:40higher ups said I can no longer take deck of five.
- 53:44It has to be a three. Anyone else being told this
- 53:48blank? We'll leave that swear word out.
- 53:51I would, Bill, what do you say all the time?
- 53:55File, file, file and smile. The contract says if you're on
- 53:59the RDWL, it is your OP, not management's.
- 54:05It is your option. Again, here we go again with
- 54:10district management coming up with rules that have no
- 54:15application to the contract, they just make it up on the off
- 54:19the seat of their PAMP. Why are they doing this?
- 54:22God knows. I mean you know they want to
- 54:24manage the time they maybe they want to sit there and say you're
- 54:28you're going to be in 2240 problems maybe you know the the
- 54:31hours don't add up they they don't have enough coverage in
- 54:34your off. It comes down to somebody in
- 54:37district saying no we're not doing this anymore It it's it's
- 54:41it's hurting my budget. No, just give them the money
- 54:44folks. You know you're not going to win
- 54:47it and then you know, on top of that, don't just go for the
- 54:49money, go for a penalty too, affecting wages.
- 54:53And I don't see the difference on taking the deck of five or
- 54:56the deck of three because they're still paying out the
- 55:00same yes, it it just lets you choose.
- 55:03Do you want that time and a half and a lump sum, or are you going
- 55:06to work 1/2, get for 1/2 day's pay that day, and get a paid day
- 55:11off within the next 12 weeks? It's still time and 1/2.
- 55:16Right. But manage management's so
- 55:18concerned with the, you know, the upfront cost that they're
- 55:21sitting there and saying you know oh you know that this
- 55:24doesn't look good, you still owe the dollar amount it it's coming
- 55:28out of your budget folks, you know.
- 55:34Now, Bill, with what you were saying of if if they're trying
- 55:37to say it's the 2240 issue, they shouldn't be working them
- 55:41anyway? Exactly.
- 55:44And and and whose fault is that? Because you haven't hired
- 55:47sufficient Subs. So then you're going to turn
- 55:50around and and file because you know, you may have to, you know,
- 55:53put in for a one 120 day letter because you don't have a sub of
- 55:57record, or because management, management of scheduling, or
- 56:01because your district won't let the Subs work more than eight
- 56:04days in a row. Therefore the sub has to get off
- 56:07and you have to work. Or maybe you know you're you're
- 56:10a new parent and you need the extra money you know, for all
- 56:14the baby bills. Or you got a new POV for your
- 56:18route. They shouldn't be limiting your
- 56:20income. Again, it goes back to affecting
- 56:23wages. And the wages are what you've
- 56:26earned, what you requested, what you're entitled to.
- 56:30Period. And that also falls in the line
- 56:33with the comment we got on one of the last week's episode 2240
- 56:39issue. Why is the Post office trying to
- 56:41collect money from me? Because you can't manage
- 56:45correctly, because you create such a hostile work environment.
- 56:49You don't have sufficient Subs. You know, because of the fact
- 56:52that you want to understand the contract, because of the fact
- 56:55that when you came into that situation where you should have
- 56:58been granting that your carrier leave, you didn't, which falls
- 57:02back on you for mismanagement. Because that one.
- 57:07Yeah, most, most supervisors, most offices.
- 57:10If you looking up in the upper right hand corner, your hours
- 57:14aren't compiled up there, which they're supposed to do at the
- 57:17first day first pay period of the guarantee period.
- 57:21And most of them don't. And continue doing it on every
- 57:2540 to 40. Well, the the the trick is if
- 57:28you get it in on the first one, it automatically starts
- 57:32calculating it for you, but if you don't get it in on the first
- 57:35one, you can't catch up. I think in the system it shows
- 57:39them and they could actually just hand write it when they
- 57:41print them. Well, you know, I I.
- 57:44Then that would that would that would actually mean management
- 57:47was doing their job. There you go.
- 57:50Actually have to work. Yep, and.
- 57:53I would in regards to that what that that comment that you got
- 57:58on that the 2240 and having to pay First things first fly on
- 58:02that on that letter of demand. Yep.
- 58:05I was. Just going to say that what
- 58:06ended up happening, what ended up happening is when you when
- 58:11you got to a certain point last year, towards the end of the
- 58:14year, the system triggered that you were over and it probably
- 58:19stopped paying you for working overtime and then they audit.
- 58:24They didn't audit on all your hours and converted you
- 58:26completely to hourly and determined where you were, what
- 58:34your actual hours were versus what they actually paid you for
- 58:37and determine that you work less hours than you were paid for.
- 58:41Yeah, so I know there's been a quite a few I've seen on the
- 58:44social webs of people getting letter to demand due to 2240
- 58:48issues. If that happens, reach out to
- 58:51your assigned union Rep ASAP and file agreements on it unless
- 58:55you. Don't want to and then.
- 58:57You want to pay. But if you don't want to pay it,
- 59:00definitely file and get a hold of your assigned union Rep All
- 59:05right, guys, Anything else? I got for this week.
- 59:08Josh, you got anything? No, but I like tomorrow's
- 59:11numbers. Bailey, you got anything else
- 59:15for this evening? No, I'll put it in the end
- 59:18closing. All right, which we'll move to.
- 59:21Josh, you're up. You're closing commentary for
- 59:24this evening. This week was a good week.
- 59:27Hopefully this coming week will be a good week.
- 59:30Well, I'll find out Tuesday 'cause I'm off tomorrow for an
- 59:33appointment along with both the other regulars in my zone.
- 59:38So one of the two of them, if not both, usually carry my route
- 59:43when I'm off. But if one one of the other two
- 59:47is not going to be there and then the third one is coming in
- 59:50late, so I doubt she's helping. So I have my 8127 ready to fill
- 59:55out Tuesday morning. Have a good week everyone.
- 59:59Don't get overwhelmed. If you do take a step back, take
- 1:00:02a deep breath. And step back in.
- 1:00:06We'll see you next time. James.
- 1:00:08You know, the biggest thing for me is I'm going to see a few of
- 1:00:12you guys at Swack with Bill and it's going to be an easy week
- 1:00:16for me because I'm only working Monday and Tuesday because I
- 1:00:19have to leave on Wednesday in order to make Swack and time.
- 1:00:22Other than that, remember, just keep your head down, do your job
- 1:00:29and learn as much as you can. Because at the end of the day,
- 1:00:33no matter what, we're all in this together.
- 1:00:36Oh, I just wanted to add. Go ahead, Josh.
- 1:00:38Thank you, everyone. Thank you everyone for joining
- 1:00:41us, choosing us over the Sports Ball.
- 1:00:47Bill, go ahead. Well in in light of the Iowa
- 1:00:51President Kathy giving us you know basically free advertising,
- 1:00:58I I also want to point out the fact when you read the article,
- 1:01:02she's basically bemoaning the fact that we're telling you how
- 1:01:06to vote while she is telling you how to vote.
- 1:01:09So don't fall for the double S I'm not here for myself.
- 1:01:13Trust me folks. I, I, I, I can walk out the door
- 1:01:16tomorrow and and be satisfied with my career and everything.
- 1:01:21But I wouldn't be satisfied leaving everybody hanging the
- 1:01:24way we are in, in our current situation under the current
- 1:01:28national board. Like I explained to you earlier,
- 1:01:31I was that on our tape in regards to the baby throwing up
- 1:01:35on me. Yeah, OK, I'll tell you what,
- 1:01:39you know, that's the joy of my life is my, my grandchildren
- 1:01:43right now. And and right behind it is, you
- 1:01:48know, you, the carriers, the craft, you know the position
- 1:01:54that I've held for 26 years, that once I get in that truck
- 1:01:58and I go out on my route and see my customers, the kids, the
- 1:02:01dogs, that's the best part of my day.
- 1:02:04It really is. And and I've enjoyed it.
- 1:02:09The the problem of it is getting to the point where you don't
- 1:02:13enjoy walking in the office first thing in the morning.
- 1:02:16You know you don't enjoy the intimidation of You can't do
- 1:02:20this. You can't do that.
- 1:02:21You must do this. You must do that.
- 1:02:24And you damn well know there's something wrong If the hairs in
- 1:02:26the back of your neck go up and you're you're sitting there
- 1:02:29going, this doesn't sound right. It's probably because it isn't
- 1:02:32right. Our president, in one of his
- 1:02:35First National statements, wanted to blame the carriers for
- 1:02:41not learning the rec system. Ladies and gentlemen, it was
- 1:02:46management's responsibility to train the carriers.
- 1:02:51Look it up. We took it upon ourselves to
- 1:02:53train ourselves as best possible.
- 1:02:56You know, in some offices they still have no training.
- 1:02:59They have managers and postmasters who have no idea
- 1:03:03what's involved in the Rex program.
- 1:03:05Again, step up, spend 10 minutes out of your day, Learn a little
- 1:03:10about Rex, learn a little about the contract, 6O3D, ELMDE,
- 1:03:14LO9O2, whatever. Just make some effort into
- 1:03:19protecting your paycheck and protecting your career, and in
- 1:03:24some instances protecting other carriers in your office, because
- 1:03:28they may not be of the fortitude that you have in regards to
- 1:03:33having a career that is worthwhile, that you can enjoy.
- 1:03:37Go in, do the job with pride, and be paid for your efforts,
- 1:03:42especially the ones who don't get paid once in a while, every
- 1:03:45two weeks. And you know, oh, it's a glitch.
- 1:03:49No, that's not a glitch. That's FU.
- 1:03:53I'm tired of it. I really am.
- 1:03:55That's why we're running for the national board.
- 1:03:58We want to change things. We want to make it better.
- 1:04:01Can we? Well, in my estimation, we will,
- 1:04:05because we really do care about the craft.
- 1:04:09So help us, help you become a delegate.
- 1:04:13Vote us in. And this is a, you know, selfish
- 1:04:17endorsement because of the fact that we believe we can do a
- 1:04:20better job in representing the craft.
- 1:04:22Because we are the craft. We're the ones out there working
- 1:04:26just like you. And we're not career politicians
- 1:04:30who have been carried a route in 20 years.
- 1:04:33God bless you all, Be safe out there, do the best job you can
- 1:04:37and make sure you get home because you know you are the
- 1:04:40most important delivery of the day and your loved ones want to
- 1:04:44see you every day. At the end of the day, I'm out.
- 1:04:49Thank you, gentlemen. And are you guys going to be
- 1:04:52back on next Sunday night in order to record or are we going
- 1:04:55to take a weekend off next weekend?
- 1:04:58Well, I think we can, James. I I think it's possible all.
- 1:05:02Right. So as of right now, we will be
- 1:05:05back next week and if something changes we'll we'll post it and
- 1:05:10let you all know, yeah, everybody stay safe out there.
- 1:05:14I've got more training to do this week and next week and
- 1:05:19possibly the week after. So when I actually read my route
- 1:05:22on my own, I don't know yet, A little bit of a break.
- 1:05:26It's been a while since I've had a training marathon, so it'll be
- 1:05:30good and but other than that, everybody take care.
- 1:05:35Have a safe week. Get home to your loved ones.
- 1:05:39We'll talk a chicken. Bless you.
- 1:05:54Thank you. I have an allergy to bullshit.
- 1:05:58I understand. I think I have that same
- 1:06:00allergy. Oh God.
- 1:06:02I'm glad I took my allergy meds today.
