Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: God bless football.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Mikey, a God bless football.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Stu gots.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Thank you, buddy. Just me and you today and bear
- 0:19Speaker 2: in about 10 minutes. Yes.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Bears in London. He is there for Kansas and Arizona state.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We will talk to him again. In about 10 minutes,
- 0:30Speaker 1: we had an NFL game last.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Night, Mikey.
- 0:31Speaker 1: A couple of decent college football games coming up tonight.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Nice college football weekend, game of the year, LSU and Mississippi.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And then, of course, the NFL. And on Sunday, we'll
- 0:41Speaker 1: forget everything we saw on Saturday night because that's what
- 0:44Speaker 1: the NFL does. What'd you make of the Bills last night?
- 0:48Speaker 1: They opened up their new stadium. Beautiful stadium. It's nice.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Josh Allen is overwhelming. My God, Mikey.
- 0:57Speaker 3: It is so disheartening to watch that man play football
- 1:01Speaker 3: because you can do everything right and he'll still beat
- 1:06Speaker 3: you in some way. I'm just curious, why does he
- 1:11Speaker 3: hate James Cook so much? Why does he hate James Cook?
- 1:15Speaker 3: And I'm saying this as a James Cook fantasy football owner.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I'm wondering, why do you hate him so much that
- 1:23Speaker 3: you take all of that man's touchdowns? Because he does.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Two of them last night. James Cook still gave you one.
- 1:29Speaker 1: He gave you 135 yards if you have him on fantasy.
- 1:31Speaker 1: He had a good game, I mean.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, listen, when you're playing Josh Allen
- 1:36Speaker 3: and you have James Cook, every one of those seems
- 1:39Speaker 3: a little bit more painful.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, but that's why some people would say stay away
- 1:45Speaker 1: from James Cook because Josh Allen's going to take some
- 1:47Speaker 1: of those rushing touchdowns, you know?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Some, not all.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I mean, come on, man.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I want to give you the stats here on Josh Allen.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Two games.
- 2:01Speaker 1: It's like video game stuff, man. He has completed 67%
- 2:05Speaker 1: of his passes in two games. And one of them
- 2:08Speaker 1: was against Houston in that defense.
- 2:11Speaker 2: 582 yards.
- 2:11Speaker 1: He has five touchdown passes.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And I'm certain he's rushed for, I don't know, three
- 2:17Speaker 2: or four more. So let me check. He has nine
- 2:19Speaker 2: touchdowns in two games. Josh Allen.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Has rushed for four, thrown for five, hasn't turned the
- 2:25Speaker 1: ball over. He is playing the game. He is playing
- 2:28Speaker 1: that position, Mikey, really. And I hope he wins a
- 2:30Speaker 1: Super Bowl.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I do.
- 2:31Speaker 1: I root for that guy. I would like to see
- 2:33Speaker 1: him win a Super Bowl. I'd like to see Lamar
- 2:35Speaker 1: win a Super Bowl. You're shaking your head no, but
- 2:38Speaker 1: I am telling you, he is playing that game as
- 2:41Speaker 1: well as you can play. He is playing that position, Mikey,
- 2:44Speaker 1: as well as the position can be played.
- 2:46Speaker 3: Two things can be true at the same time, and
- 2:48Speaker 3: what you said is absolutely true. There's no denying it.
- 2:51Speaker 3: He is playing that position so well right now that–
- 2:56Speaker 3: You can't blitz him, which takes away an entire defensive scheme.
- 3:00Speaker 3: You can't blitz him because all he'll do is run
- 3:03Speaker 3: outside and either hit a big pass or he'll run
- 3:06Speaker 3: for 17 yards, and now your defense is gassed. He
- 3:10Speaker 3: puts so much pressure on opposing defenses, and he puts
- 3:14Speaker 3: even more pressure on opposing offenses because it's almost like
- 3:17Speaker 3: you can't punt. You can't punt because when he gets
- 3:20Speaker 3: the ball, he's going to score. That being said, I
- 3:24Speaker 3: hate him. I hate him for so many reasons. I
- 3:32Speaker 3: think you can be a whiner in the NFL. Tom
- 3:35Speaker 3: Brady was a whiner. Every time Tom Brady was breathed
- 3:38Speaker 3: on wrong, he called for a flag. You can do that.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I respect that. You can be a tough guy. Baker
- 3:45Speaker 3: Mayfield's a tough guy. Baker Mayfield's going to put his
- 3:47Speaker 3: shoulder down. You're going to tackle him. He's going to
- 3:50Speaker 3: get up and he's going to flex on you. You
- 3:52Speaker 3: can be that, but you can't be both. And Josh
- 3:56Speaker 3: Allen tries to be both. He'll put his head down,
- 3:58Speaker 3: he'll run you over, and then all of a sudden
- 4:00Speaker 3: when he gets touched in the pocket, he'll go, where's
- 4:03Speaker 3: my flag? Where's my flag? Josh Allen is my least
- 4:06Speaker 3: favorite player in the NFL. That being said, we are
- 4:09Speaker 3: watching probably the surest Hall of Fame start of a
- 4:14Speaker 3: season that I've ever seen.
- 4:16Speaker 1: He could be your least favorite player in the NFL,
- 4:18Speaker 1: but you respect the hell out of him, don't you?
- 4:20Speaker 3: How do you not?
- 4:22Speaker 2: Of course.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Like when you're talking about him whining a little bit,
- 4:25Speaker 1: you're just finding things to pick at because I can't
- 4:28Speaker 1: imagine the amount of calls that aren't made. He plays
- 4:33Speaker 1: such a physical style.
- 4:35Speaker 3: He also flops a lot. And that's, there's plenty of
- 4:38Speaker 3: evidence of that. And it's again, it's not that it's
- 4:40Speaker 3: not the flopping. I don't mind the flopping. I respect
- 4:43Speaker 3: the flopping, but then you can't run somebody over. You
- 4:47Speaker 3: can't do both. That's all I'm saying. You can flop
- 4:50Speaker 3: and scream and, ah, he killed me. He killed me.
- 4:53Speaker 3: And then throw a 30-yard pass down the field for
- 4:56Speaker 3: a touchdown. You can do that. Or you can run
- 4:58Speaker 3: people over. You can do that too. But you can't
- 5:01Speaker 3: do both. You can't be this physical specimen who's hurting
- 5:05Speaker 3: people when they try and tackle you and then scream
- 5:08Speaker 3: when someone breathes on you wrong. You can't do both.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I understand what you're saying. You're very passionate about this.
- 5:13Speaker 2: You can't do both. I got it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: I am not certain a player means more to his
- 5:17Speaker 1: city and his organization that Josh Allen means to that
- 5:19Speaker 1: city and that organization. Can you think maybe Lamar Jackson,
- 5:22Speaker 1: if I'm being honest, Lamar means that much to Baltimore,
- 5:26Speaker 1: to that organization and to that city, that city loves
- 5:29Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and they should. Both of them are all
- 5:32Speaker 1: time greats. I hope they both win a Superbowl, but
- 5:35Speaker 1: Allen means so much. He loves being a Buffalo bill.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And the Bills love having him as their quarterback. And
- 5:42Speaker 1: I hope they win a Super Bowl. But I don't
- 5:44Speaker 1: think Bills fans are going to look at him any
- 5:46Speaker 1: differently if he doesn't win one.
- 5:47Speaker 2: You know? I really don't.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Oh, you kind of have to, right?
- 5:50Speaker 4: Jim Kelly.
- 5:51Speaker 2: They love him.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, they do love Jim Kelly. But Jim Kelly... I
- 5:58Speaker 3: don't know if you can love somebody. I mean, I
- 6:01Speaker 3: don't know if you can love him as much as
- 6:03Speaker 3: that if he doesn't win one.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Because.
- 6:08Speaker 3: He didn't run into a juggernaut the way the Bills
- 6:12Speaker 3: ran into the Cowboys.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I mean, you could say the Chiefs, but the Chiefs
- 6:16Speaker 3: weren't in it last year. Neither were you.
- 6:18Speaker 4: Right. Yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, at some point, Josh
- 6:22Speaker 3: Allen always messed up in the playoffs. And I'm not
- 6:24Speaker 3: trying to. I'm not continuing my hatred of him in that.
- 6:27Speaker 3: That's just a fact. At some point, he didn't get
- 6:30Speaker 3: it done in the playoffs.
- 6:31Speaker 2: It's not apples to apples. That's fair.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Because what Jim Kelly did was take his team to
- 6:35Speaker 1: four consecutive Super Bowls.
- 6:36Speaker 2: They should have won the first one against the Giants.
- 6:38Speaker 2: You're right. They ran into a juggernaut the next three.
- 6:41Speaker 2: But they were so resilient.
- 6:42Speaker 1: And Kelly was in the middle of all of that
- 6:44Speaker 1: in terms of being able to lose the Super Bowl
- 6:47Speaker 1: not once, not twice, not three times.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Four times and still get back there. Right. And so
- 6:54Speaker 2: Buffalo loved him for that.
- 6:56Speaker 1: He made it to four, did one, but they almost
- 6:57Speaker 1: feel bad for, you know, with Josh Allen.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I do wonder what happens there.
- 7:02Speaker 1: If Josh Allen never makes it to a Superbowl, right.
- 7:05Speaker 1: If Buffalo fans will embrace them the way they've embraced
- 7:08Speaker 1: Jim Kelly. It's an interesting conversation.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Yes. Yes.
- 7:12Speaker 3: From the other side, are you worried about the Lions?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah, they have a problem on defense.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I'm very worried about that. They don't only have a
- 7:20Speaker 3: problem on defense. I mean, the defense was the defense
- 7:22Speaker 3: was not good. But again, you can chalk it up to, hey,
- 7:26Speaker 3: that's Josh Allen. But he didn't look good against Tyler.
- 7:28Speaker 3: They didn't look good against Tyler. And the offense, I
- 7:33Speaker 3: think in the beginning they had a game plan and
- 7:36Speaker 3: it was awful. And then towards halftime and the second half,
- 7:40Speaker 3: they said, okay, we're going to throw out our game plan,
- 7:43Speaker 3: and we're just going to chuck it to Amon Ross St.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Brown as much as possible.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yes.
- 7:47Speaker 1: They've given up 72 points through two games, Mikey.
- 7:51Speaker 2: And again, you're right. One was Buffalo. Houston gave up
- 7:53Speaker 2: a lot of points to Buffalo.
- 7:54Speaker 1: But it's the 30 points they gave up to the
- 7:57Speaker 1: Saints that I'm concerned about.
- 7:59Speaker 2: They should have given up more points to the Saints.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But unlike Buffalo, Mikey– Buffalo can give up 30 points,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and Josh Allen's going to score 40. Detroit can't give
- 8:08Speaker 1: up 30 to 35 points every night because their offenses
- 8:10Speaker 1: are going to score 45 every night.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Josh Allen is, you know? Crazy. And their offense is high-powered, Detroit.
- 8:16Speaker 3: It's good. Think about it. They are a failed two-point
- 8:20Speaker 3: conversion away from being 0-2.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Yes. Wow.
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:24Speaker 2: The Lions.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Right.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah. The Bills 2-0, man. Overwhelming. Overwhelming.
- 8:30Speaker 1: And yet somehow I feel like he's still not going
- 8:32Speaker 1: to win the Super.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Bowl this year.
- 8:37Speaker 1: It is time for this week's edition of Studio Gots.
- 8:41Speaker 1: 2-4 last week in college, 5-1 in the NFL. Let's
- 8:44Speaker 1: start with the college slate. Big college football weekend coming up.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I am 6-6 on the season as we.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Head into this monster college football weekend. Let's start with
- 8:54Speaker 1: tonight's game. Miami, minus 20.5. They're taking on Wake Forest,
- 8:59Speaker 1: the Deacs. Miami, to me, is the most talented team
- 9:02Speaker 1: in the country. This is a game where they would
- 9:04Speaker 1: normally struggle. I think Miami wins, and they blow out
- 9:07Speaker 1: the 2-0 Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Canes minus 20
- 9:11Speaker 1: and a half. Buy it down to 20. The Canes
- 9:14Speaker 1: win by 34 points.
- 9:17Speaker 2: On the road. It's a blowout. Wake Forest tonight. Texas
- 9:20Speaker 2: Tech staying with Friday night. They are minus.
- 9:23Speaker 1: This is a sneaky big game right here, Mikey A.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Texas Tech is minus seven and a half.
- 9:28Speaker 2: They're at home. They're taking on Houston. Buy it down
- 9:30Speaker 2: to seven. Take Tech. They win.
- 9:32Speaker 1: They cover Texas Tech by 14 points at home. louisville
- 9:36Speaker 1: another sneaky big game take it on smu louisville minus
- 9:41Speaker 1: one and a half they win they cover louisville by
- 9:44Speaker 1: a touchdown north dakota plus 24 and a half at
- 9:49Speaker 1: nebraska this is more of a bet against nebraska than
- 9:52Speaker 1: it is on north dakota i have no idea if
- 9:55Speaker 1: north dakota is any good in fact when i asked
- 9:57Speaker 1: mikey what the line was i asked him if it
- 9:59Speaker 1: was north dakota State.
- 10:00Speaker 2: It's not. It's North Dakota. They're plus 24 and a half.
- 10:04Speaker 2: They're at Nebraska.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Nebraska will win, but they're not beating anyone by more
- 10:08Speaker 1: than 24 points this year.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Nebraska wins.
- 10:12Speaker 1: North Dakota covers Nebraska by 14 points at home.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Another big underdog. Michigan State.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Pat Fitzgerald plus 29 and a half at Notre Dame.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Buy it up to 30. Mikey is laughing at me.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Notre Dame wins.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Michigan State covers Notre Dame by 21 points at home.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And finally... The big game of the weekend. It is Mississippi.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It is LSU. Mississippi plus two and a half at home.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Buy it up to three.
- 10:42Speaker 1: But I do think Mississippi wins the game outright. Mississippi wins.
- 10:46Speaker 1: They cover Mississippi by a field goal. Let's get to
- 10:50Speaker 1: the NFL week two here. Five and one a week ago.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Five and one.
- 10:55Speaker 2: That felt good, Mikey. It's rare that I get off
- 10:57Speaker 2: to a five and one start. You impressed a little bit?
- 10:58Speaker 3: A little bit. A little bit. But I was still
- 11:00Speaker 3: angry at you about college, so.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Thank you. And taking a jet, even though they covered. Right.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I'm going to do it again.
- 11:08Speaker 3: No!
- 11:09Speaker 2: Spoiler alert.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 11:11Speaker 2: NFL, Bucs, minus six and a half.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Eight and a half.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 11:14Speaker 2: They're taking on the Browns.
- 11:16Speaker 1: This is more of a bet against the Browns than
- 11:18Speaker 1: it is on the Bucs, although the Bucs need to
- 11:19Speaker 1: win this game.
- 11:20Speaker 2: The Browns are really bad. They are just bad.
- 11:24Speaker 1: The Bucs need it. They have to get this win.
- 11:27Speaker 1: They are minus 8.5. Buy it down to 8.
- 11:29Speaker 2: The Bucs win by 17 points at home against the
- 11:33Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns.
- 11:34Speaker 1: We go to New York. Jets, home opener, 1-0. Take
- 11:38Speaker 1: it on the 0-1 Packers. Jets are plus 3.5 at home.
- 11:42Speaker 1: Buy it up to 4.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Doesn't matter.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Jets win the game outright. They beat the Packers and
- 11:49Speaker 1: win by three points at home. We go to Foxborough.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Patriots taking on the Steelers. The Steelers didn't win a
- 11:55Speaker 1: game last week.
- 11:56Speaker 2: The Falcons lost the game. I am going to take
- 11:58Speaker 2: the Patriots. They need this game.
- 12:00Speaker 1: They're 0-1. Don't want to start the season 0-2. The Steelers,
- 12:03Speaker 1: they got to win already. So not as urgent as
- 12:06Speaker 1: the Patriots are going to be. Minus four and a half.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Buy it down to four. Patriots win and cover. Patriots
- 12:12Speaker 1: by 10 points at home. Bears, Caleb Williams, best quarterback
- 12:16Speaker 1: in the history of the NFL. Take it on Carson Wentz,
- 12:19Speaker 1: I think. Maybe it's Kyler Murray. I have no idea.
- 12:22Speaker 1: The Vikings have no idea on a week-to-week basis. Buy
- 12:25Speaker 1: it down to four. Chicago wins. They cover the Bears
- 12:29Speaker 1: by 13 points at home. Chiefs, minus six and a half.
- 12:33Speaker 1: They're taking on the Colts. This is Sunday Night Football.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Is that right, Mike?
- 12:37Speaker 1: Danny Dimes, Sunday Night Football.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Chiefs, why did I go Danny Dimes and not Patrick Mahomes?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Todd, yes.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I guess I'm wondering why the Colts are playing on
- 12:46Speaker 1: Sunday Night Football. But the Chiefs are minus 6.5, buy
- 12:49Speaker 1: it down to 6.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The Chiefs win.
- 12:51Speaker 1: They cover the Chiefs by 14 points at home. And finally,
- 12:56Speaker 1: Jackson Dart, the Giants, plus 7.5. Monday Night Football, they're
- 13:01Speaker 1: at the Rams. Man, do the Rams need this. It'd
- 13:04Speaker 1: be interesting if the Rams started the season 0-2. The
- 13:07Speaker 1: Giants already got a victory.
- 13:09Speaker 2: They're 1-0.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Buy it up to eight. The Rams are going to win.
- 13:12Speaker 1: The Giants will cover. The Rams by four. And Jackson
- 13:16Speaker 1: Dart and them boys get the cover.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Those are the picks, everyone. Good luck.

- 15:03Speaker 2: God bless football, mate. Oh, jeez.
- 15:09Speaker 1: He is in London for the big Arizona State-Kansas tilt.
- 15:14Speaker 4: I am. I've seen a couple. I've seen a European
- 15:17Speaker 4: football match already. Crystal Palace League match on Thursday night,
- 15:23Speaker 4: which was fantastic. They won 4-0. I am going to
- 15:26Speaker 4: Bournemouth on Sunday to watch Liverpool-Bournemouth down on the south coast.
- 15:30Speaker 4: So fun times here in and around a little work week.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Mikey, why are you wincing? Why are you making a face?
- 15:37Speaker 2: What happened there?
- 15:38Speaker 3: Because he said he saw a match where one team
- 15:41Speaker 3: didn't score, and he said it was fantastic. And I'm
- 15:43Speaker 3: just wondering why.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Why? Thank you.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Finally, someone on my side.
- 15:49Speaker 4: It was 3-0 at halftime. There was a penalty kick.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Barnburner.
- 15:54Speaker 4: There was a penalty kick in the first half.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I mean, 3-0 at halftime is like being down 49-0
- 15:59Speaker 1: in a football game.
- 16:00Speaker 3: There was a.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Red card in the second half, and the LEC, the
- 16:04Speaker 4: Polish team, the fans that had traveled at the 65th
- 16:08Speaker 4: minute decided to let off this unbelievable show of flares
- 16:14Speaker 4: and lights and fire. It was great. It was like
- 16:18Speaker 4: their entire section was on fire. Fire with Flair. They
- 16:21Speaker 4: didn't care that they were down 3-0.
- 16:22Speaker 2: They were there to have a good time. Bear, how
- 16:26Speaker 2: are you going to navigate?
- 16:27Speaker 1: I can't imagine too many fans from Kansas travel to England.
- 16:33Speaker 2: No, they did. Arizona State's not there. I mean, why
- 16:36Speaker 2: would Arizona State go to England?
- 16:37Speaker 4: I've gotten stopped. I've gotten stopped in the streets by
- 16:41Speaker 4: both Arizona State fans and Kansas fans. We saw both
- 16:44Speaker 4: of the soccer match last night. There are people that
- 16:49Speaker 4: have planned vacations around this as well. I don't think
- 16:53Speaker 4: it's going to be 80,000 people at Wembley like the
- 16:56Speaker 4: stadium holds, but there are more people here than I
- 16:59Speaker 4: think you would expect.
- 17:01Speaker 2: How many hours ahead are you right now?
- 17:03Speaker 4: I am five hours ahead of you.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So, Mikey, what I'm wondering here is how Bear is
- 17:07Speaker 1: going to navigate the game of the year, LSU and Mississippi.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think it kicks off at 7.30 or 8 o'clock,
- 17:14Speaker 1: which is like 2.
- 17:15Speaker 2: In the morning his time. How are we going to
- 17:17Speaker 2: navigate this?
- 17:18Speaker 4: It's a problem. 12.30 a.m. London time is not– it's–
- 17:23Speaker 4: It's not going to happen for me, unfortunately.
- 17:25Speaker 3: The good news, Bear, is being where you are, you
- 17:29Speaker 3: could probably avoid spoilers. So if you could somehow record
- 17:32Speaker 3: the game, maybe get it on your phone, you could
- 17:35Speaker 3: wake up. I don't know what your travel schedule is,
- 17:37Speaker 3: but that might be a nice thing to watch on
- 17:39Speaker 3: the plane ride home. Sounds like you can navigate some
- 17:42Speaker 3: stuff here.
- 17:43Speaker 2: It's nearly impossible to do it that way these days.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It is. It's impossible.
- 17:47Speaker 1: The last time I did it was when a horse
- 17:50Speaker 1: was running for the Triple Crown at the Belmont, and
- 17:52Speaker 1: somehow I imagined– to avoid it the entire day.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I'm not certain.
- 17:59Speaker 2: It's possible, but Mikey's right. That's a great way to
- 18:01Speaker 2: go home. It is watching that game.
- 18:02Speaker 4: It is. I could probably navigate. That would be a
- 18:06Speaker 4: good way to occupy the train ride from London to
- 18:09Speaker 4: Bournemouth on Sunday morning.
- 18:11Speaker 3: There you go.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Perfect. Great idea, Mikey. I knew we'd keep you around
- 18:16Speaker 4: for some reason.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Bear, what do you imagine?
- 18:21Speaker 1: We've had so many people out talking about this game
- 18:24Speaker 1: What do you imagine that scene's going to be like, Oxford, Mississippi,
- 18:27Speaker 1: on Saturday night?
- 18:28Speaker 4: It is going to be an absolute hate fest, and
- 18:30Speaker 4: it's going to be absolutely glorious.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 4: There is genuine hate and disdain there. It's an awesome
- 18:38Speaker 4: setting for college football in the Grove, but they literally
- 18:43Speaker 4: hate Lane Kiffin. And Lane loves being the villain. He truly,
- 18:48Speaker 4: he is totally fine with it, just absolutely. I am
- 18:53Speaker 4: the villain. I am the character. They hate me. Fine. Good.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I think he absolutely loves it. In terms of the game,
- 19:00Speaker 4: I kind of like Ole Miss a little bit.
- 19:03Speaker 2: You know how.
- 19:04Speaker 4: In this game. I know I am in the minority here.
- 19:06Speaker 4: I wonder about Ole Miss, I mean, LSU's offense just
- 19:11Speaker 4: a little bit. Levitt was more running around in the
- 19:15Speaker 4: opener against Clemson. Then they finally got it going against
- 19:18Speaker 4: a bad lot tech team in the second half. Yes.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I think that home field is going to count for something.
- 19:23Speaker 4: And with Lucas Canero, their kicker, he is an absolute weapon.
- 19:27Speaker 4: So a close game, I certainly think favors Ole Miss.
- 19:31Speaker 4: And I don't know if either team is capable of
- 19:34Speaker 4: blowing out one or the other.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Bear, do you like being at games like this, like
- 19:39Speaker 3: in your job? Because I imagine that for everybody else,
- 19:43Speaker 3: it's this visceral thing. But for you, it's work. And
- 19:46Speaker 3: you're like, how the hell am I going to get
- 19:47Speaker 3: out of here when the show is done? Now I've
- 19:49Speaker 3: got a with all this. Is this something you like?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Or is it more of just a nuisance for you?
- 19:56Speaker 4: Are you talking about either where I am right now
- 19:59Speaker 4: in London?
- 20:00Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 20:01Speaker 1: He's saying if you had to work a game like this,
- 20:03Speaker 1: would you enjoy it? Would you go to a game
- 20:05Speaker 1: like this if you weren't working?
- 20:07Speaker 3: Oh, God, yes.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Great. It would be great because I love the scene.
- 20:13Speaker 4: I love the raw emotion. I love the flavor. And
- 20:18Speaker 4: I've always said college football needs characters.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 4: It makes it great. And to have a character like
- 20:25Speaker 4: Lane and the fans, we go from loving him last
- 20:29Speaker 4: year to completely hating him. I would love to be
- 20:32Speaker 4: there this weekend. Yeah.
- 20:34Speaker 2: But how about from a work standpoint?
- 20:36Speaker 1: If if Big Noon was at this game and you're
- 20:38Speaker 1: working the game, it's a different atmosphere for you, right?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Because you're working.
- 20:42Speaker 4: It's a much better atmosphere, though.
- 20:44Speaker 2: OK, OK. No, because that's where Mikey was getting to.
- 20:47Speaker 3: The content I know is much better. I'm just sitting
- 20:51Speaker 3: there going the logistics of trying to get in and
- 20:54Speaker 3: out of there. All that stuff. It's like, oh, my God,
- 20:57Speaker 3: I don't care. Just get me home.
- 20:59Speaker 4: No, no, no. I never thought it. The only time
- 21:03Speaker 4: I would think about it that way would be if
- 21:05Speaker 4: it was like a really, really late night and it
- 21:08Speaker 4: was kind of like one road in, one road out
- 21:10Speaker 4: type of deal. But for the show content with the
- 21:14Speaker 4: signs and man on the street, all the elements, it
- 21:18Speaker 4: kind of, I can remember being there in the Grove
- 21:22Speaker 4: in 2014 for the Alabama Ole Miss game. when Ole
- 21:26Speaker 4: Miss wound up going to number one. Ole Miss beat
- 21:28Speaker 4: Alabama that day and wound up getting ranked number one
- 21:30Speaker 4: in the country. And it was like the perfect, it
- 21:33Speaker 4: was our first trip there. And the scene was great.
- 21:36Speaker 4: The storyline was great. It built up and like our
- 21:39Speaker 4: show kind of kicked off what at the time was
- 21:42Speaker 4: like arguably the greatest day in Ole Miss football history
- 21:45Speaker 4: by upsetting Alabama at the end of the day.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Lane Kiffin, this is a win-win situation for him because
- 21:50Speaker 1: I believe that he'll figure out a way to give
- 21:52Speaker 1: himself credit regardless of who wins the game. I built
- 21:56Speaker 1: that team over there that beat my LSU team where
- 21:59Speaker 1: I'm so far– this is why I left Mississippi to
- 22:02Speaker 1: go to LSU because he's that kind of guy. The
- 22:04Speaker 1: Sam Leavitt report, that made you laugh out loud, right?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 4: It was literally the first thing I did. I'm like, unbelievable.
- 22:12Speaker 4: And then he put Leavitt on there. He put Weeks
- 22:15Speaker 4: on there. He put– Let me just put all of
- 22:17Speaker 4: my best players on there. The number of people that
- 22:23Speaker 4: believe that that was an accurate injury report, I hope
- 22:26Speaker 4: would be like under 0.5%. I love your point about Lane.
- 22:32Speaker 4: That is a great point because if they do lose,
- 22:35Speaker 4: it's going to be, yeah, a lot of those guys
- 22:38Speaker 4: are on my team, and it was good to see
- 22:39Speaker 4: that they could draw up enough energy and ire and
- 22:42Speaker 4: animosity to hate me so much that I got them
- 22:44Speaker 4: motivated to beat me. That's a great point.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Right, and it will take me a minute to get
- 22:50Speaker 1: LSU to where I got Mississippi.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Just give me a minute, right? A classic win-win.
- 22:56Speaker 1: So it seems like, just to be clear to the
- 22:57Speaker 1: audience here, is this a confident lean on Mississippi here?
- 23:01Speaker 4: It is. I wouldn't say a confident lean. It's a lean.
- 23:06Speaker 4: It's one of those where if I got to circle
- 23:10Speaker 4: the number on the old pool pick this week, I'll
- 23:13Speaker 4: take Ole Miss. But I'm not going to get too
- 23:16Speaker 4: heavily involved in the real money and bet in this one.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Some interesting games tonight. There's one sneaky big game tonight.
- 23:24Speaker 1: But this is interesting. Miami plays tonight. How are you
- 23:26Speaker 1: going to navigate that? They're at Wake Forest. They're taking
- 23:29Speaker 1: on the Deacs. The Deacs are 2-0. I love the
- 23:31Speaker 1: games tonight, by the way. But how are you going
- 23:33Speaker 1: to navigate watching your Hurricanes at 3.
- 23:35Speaker 2: In the morning?
- 23:36Speaker 4: I don't think it's going to happen, unfortunately, at 3
- 23:39Speaker 4: in the night. I might be able to make the
- 23:42Speaker 4: first half from like 12.30. to maybe 2 a.m., but
- 23:47Speaker 4: I don't think we're going to– hopefully it won't be
- 23:49Speaker 4: a game and hopefully we don't have to worry about it.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Fortunately, it's not going to happen. I'm also concerned about
- 23:56Speaker 4: the other game tonight, the Texas Tech-Houston game.
- 23:59Speaker 2: That's the sneaky big game, yeah.
- 24:01Speaker 4: I love Texas Tech in this game, by the way.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Do you? It's seven and a half. Houston, it feels
- 24:07Speaker 4: like a dog with fleas, in my opinion. Everybody is
- 24:11Speaker 4: high on Houston. After last week, Texas Tech went to
- 24:14Speaker 4: Oregon State. It was a four-quarter game. Oregon State played
- 24:18Speaker 4: Houston to a four-quarter game in Houston earlier this year
- 24:22Speaker 4: as well. So I'm not buying it. I think it's
- 24:24Speaker 4: a great buy-low spot for Texas Tech. And the atmosphere there,
- 24:30Speaker 4: Lubbock at night, is a weird place. I think they're
- 24:35Speaker 4: going to be getting after it. I think that home
- 24:37Speaker 4: field is going to make a difference. I think it
- 24:39Speaker 4: might have been just a little bit of a look
- 24:41Speaker 4: ahead for last week up in Corvallis for the Red Raiders.
- 24:45Speaker 4: It does concern me a little bit that they did
- 24:48Speaker 4: have that wild card, well, wild cat package, rather, for
- 24:51Speaker 4: Tommy Castellanos in there, which didn't make much sense. Do
- 24:54Speaker 4: they trust Will Hammond? But I think this is a
- 24:57Speaker 4: great spot. for Texas Tech at a discounted number.
- 25:00Speaker 2: All right. We wrote that down, Mikey. We have that. Yes.
- 25:04Speaker 1: He gets mad at me every time I ask. What
- 25:06Speaker 1: do you have on that piece of paper? Is it
- 25:08Speaker 1: just say Texas Tech and Mississippi right now?
- 25:11Speaker 3: It's Bears bets from last week, and then they can
- 25:13Speaker 3: see right there. It says Texas Tech.
- 25:16Speaker 2: He's got a ledger.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I got a ledger. Which is how I know Stu
- 25:21Speaker 3: went one and four last week.
- 25:23Speaker 2: I didn't go one and five.
- 25:24Speaker 3: How about the week before?
- 25:25Speaker 2: I went four and two.
- 25:26Speaker 4: I mean, what?
- 25:28Speaker 3: Have you done for me lately?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Well, the latest thing I did was five and one
- 25:32Speaker 2: on NFL picks.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 25:37Speaker 2: The most recent thing I've done a bear.
- 25:39Speaker 1: What do you make here of a Oregon losing that
- 25:42Speaker 1: game to Oklahoma state? Dan Lanning for me is I
- 25:47Speaker 1: like the guy. I know his players like him. I
- 25:49Speaker 1: know the school's in love with him for me. He
- 25:52Speaker 1: is as overrated a coach we have in America.
- 25:55Speaker 2: He is.
- 25:56Speaker 4: I love Dan as a person, too.
- 25:59Speaker 2: I put you in a bad spot. I know you did.
- 26:01Speaker 4: You did put me in a bad spot.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I really did. Don't say it. I said it, okay?
- 26:06Speaker 4: No, no. But that was a horrible loss.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yes.
- 26:09Speaker 4: You can't lose that game. You beat that team 69-3,
- 26:13Speaker 4: I think it was, last year. And you go on. Look,
- 26:18Speaker 4: I expected them, and I think we might have talked
- 26:20Speaker 4: about it last week. Maybe you start slow because of
- 26:24Speaker 4: the early kick. And then you get into it. But
- 26:27Speaker 4: for a defensive line that was supposed to be one
- 26:30Speaker 4: of the best defensive lines in the country, they couldn't
- 26:34Speaker 4: get a stop. The offensive line looked very problematic. It
- 26:40Speaker 4: looks like an issue there with two new coordinators where
- 26:43Speaker 4: maybe he's kind of regretting some of those hires. Dante
- 26:46Speaker 4: Moore has been sporadic. There have been some reports that
- 26:49Speaker 4: maybe he's a little beat up that allegedly had a
- 26:52Speaker 4: hamstring issue, which I don't know about. But that was a–
- 26:56Speaker 4: is it going to be maybe a wake-up loss like
- 26:58Speaker 4: Ohio State had in 2014 when you lost a game
- 27:02Speaker 4: to Virginia Tech as a big favorite at home and
- 27:04Speaker 4: then you go on and win the national title? I
- 27:06Speaker 4: don't know. They'll win by a million over Portland State,
- 27:10Speaker 4: I would expect. That game next week, USC really determines
- 27:15Speaker 4: their fate. They have to win that game or else
- 27:18Speaker 4: then you're putting yourself in a position– where you're going
- 27:21Speaker 4: to have to win at Ohio State at the end
- 27:23Speaker 4: of the year to make the college football playoffs. So
- 27:25Speaker 4: that's going to be an interesting spot next week in
- 27:29Speaker 4: the Coliseum, Oregon, at USC. The look-ahead line on that game,
- 27:34Speaker 4: I remember, was Oregon minus 10. And now I believe
- 27:37Speaker 4: with FanDuel, it's down to one, one and a half
- 27:39Speaker 4: or so. So hopefully if you bought some USC early on,
- 27:42Speaker 4: you're in a great spot. But yeah, I'm befuddled by Oregon.
- 27:47Speaker 4: I thought they had the fewest amount of questions of
- 27:49Speaker 4: any team Coming into the country, Jeff Schwartz, my co-host
- 27:52Speaker 4: on Bear Bets, watches the offensive line religiously, and he
- 27:57Speaker 4: did not like what he saw there.
- 28:01Speaker 2: At least Ohio State can justify, hey, had a good loss.
- 28:04Speaker 2: It's against Texas. It's on the road. It was a
- 28:07Speaker 2: close game.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Oregon landing needs to hope that Oklahoma state is good
- 28:10Speaker 1: for the remainder of the year.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:14Speaker 4: And that's the thing. Or Oklahoma state was a team
- 28:16Speaker 4: that people thought could kind of be a little bit
- 28:18Speaker 4: of a dark horse sleeper contender in the big 12.
- 28:21Speaker 4: And they lost to Tulsa the week before. And everyone's like,
- 28:24Speaker 4: Oh my God, Oklahoma state must absolutely stink. And I
- 28:27Speaker 4: think that was added to the total shock value, but
- 28:30Speaker 4: I'm glad you brought up Ohio state because I don't
- 28:32Speaker 4: know how you can downgrade them off of that game.
- 28:36Speaker 4: It was a game. They should have been leading by
- 28:38Speaker 4: a hell of a lot more going into halftime and
- 28:41Speaker 4: a couple of empty red zone trips and short field goals.
- 28:44Speaker 4: And they led for the majority of the game and
- 28:48Speaker 4: get tired out late, like three 70 yard drives because
- 28:51Speaker 4: kind of got, manhandled late in that heat so maybe
- 28:54Speaker 4: that's a concern but i don't know it's to me
- 28:58Speaker 4: that game counts like a half a loss right like
- 29:01Speaker 4: if it's a tie break at the end of the
- 29:03Speaker 4: year yes but not in there nine and three and
- 29:07Speaker 4: someone else is ten and two or like ohio state
- 29:09Speaker 4: gets the edge for going down there playing i will
- 29:13Speaker 4: say there is a situation with ohio state where does
- 29:17Speaker 4: julian saying maybe have a big game problem But you
- 29:20Speaker 4: look at that game, he missed some throws. You look
- 29:23Speaker 4: at the Indiana game and the Big Ten championship game
- 29:27Speaker 4: was not great. Miami was not great. So he's going
- 29:31Speaker 4: to have to win one of these games, I think.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Or you don't necessarily have to be a superstar. You
- 29:36Speaker 4: don't have to be at your best. You just have
- 29:38Speaker 4: to go out and play fine. And he's had a
- 29:42Speaker 4: couple of injuries. So that might be a little bit
- 29:45Speaker 4: of a storyline as the season goes on. But Ohio State, clearly,
- 29:49Speaker 4: is still well in control of their playoff destiny.
- 29:52Speaker 1: We'll get to your picks in a second. Check out
- 29:54Speaker 1: his podcast wherever you get your podcast. Bear Betts doing fantastic.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Am I crazy to like Miami minus 21 over Wake
- 30:00Speaker 1: Forest tonight?
- 30:02Speaker 2: I'm working out my picks here, Mikey.
- 30:06Speaker 3: You already gave your picks.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I know, but I'm checking with Bear to see if
- 30:14Speaker 2: he's okay with them.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I feel better about them going into the weekend.
- 30:17Speaker 4: I mean, I couldn't play Wake Forest. The one thing
- 30:23Speaker 4: I hate about these big numbers is at some point
- 30:26Speaker 4: they are going to have potentially an off night where
- 30:30Speaker 4: You're not throwing five touchdowns and three incompletions, and it
- 30:34Speaker 4: doesn't all click on the road. Watch tonight because they
- 30:41Speaker 4: are down guys in the secondary, and the way in
- 30:44Speaker 4: Gio Lopez and the Wake Forest offense is pretty good
- 30:47Speaker 4: and can hit on some big plays. Would not surprise
- 30:50Speaker 4: me to see Wake Forest score some points tonight.
- 30:52Speaker 2: All right, take the canes off, Mikey.
- 30:55Speaker 4: I don't feel good about it. I would take the
- 30:59Speaker 4: over if you had to take anything in that game.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yes, by the way, I think that's a good idea.
- 31:02Speaker 1: A good loss should be a half a loss. I'd
- 31:04Speaker 1: be okay if Ohio State was one and a half
- 31:07Speaker 1: and half.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yes, thank you.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Thank you. I have your affirmation. That's all I need.
- 31:14Speaker 2: It's a good idea.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Who's the committee that gets to decide?
- 31:18Speaker 2: What's a good loss?
- 31:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I mean, Texas, I don't know. It's a good question.
- 31:22Speaker 2: I haven't thought it through yet.
- 31:24Speaker 1: But Texas, you know, winning at home against Ohio State
- 31:27Speaker 1: is not a bad loss. Ohio State was in the game,
- 31:29Speaker 1: should have won the game. It's not a bad loss.
- 31:31Speaker 3: So then Texas should have gotten a good loss last
- 31:34Speaker 3: year when they lost at Ohio State, no?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Fair, yes, but I'm just implementing the rule this year.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I mean– Can't do it retroactive. That's the misnomer about
- 31:44Speaker 4: last year, and people are kind of harping on that. Oh,
- 31:47Speaker 4: why are you playing these games? It cost Texas a
- 31:49Speaker 4: college football play. No, it didn't. It cost Texas a
- 31:52Speaker 4: college football playoff spot last year. We're surviving against Mississippi
- 31:56Speaker 4: State and losing in Florida in poor fashion. And all
- 32:01Speaker 4: those close, ugly calls they had. throughout the year. They
- 32:04Speaker 4: did not play their best football until the very, very
- 32:07Speaker 4: end of the season. And it was what happened in
- 32:10Speaker 4: between there that ultimately cost them a spot. It wasn't
- 32:12Speaker 4: the loss.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yes, you're right.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Let's get to your picks here for this weekend. Mikey,
- 32:18Speaker 1: we should have a way to do this, like medal stand.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel bad. We just put Bear
- 32:22Speaker 2: out there.
- 32:23Speaker 1: He gives us a handful of picks. He doesn't classify
- 32:26Speaker 1: if they're five-star, four-star, three-star.
- 32:28Speaker 2: I mean, anyway, go ahead. What do you like this
- 32:31Speaker 2: weekend there?
- 32:33Speaker 4: I mentioned Texas Tech. That's the game I like.
- 32:36Speaker 2: I already put it in.
- 32:37Speaker 4: I put it in. I like South Carolina laying three
- 32:42Speaker 4: and a half against Mississippi State.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:44Speaker 4: I like Mississippi State last week, and we had them,
- 32:46Speaker 4: and they were an easy winner at Minnesota. But I
- 32:49Speaker 4: think this week, the hype train's filling up on the Bulldogs.
- 32:54Speaker 4: And Kamario Taylor is now a name that everybody knows, quarterback.
- 33:00Speaker 4: probably a little bit of a bad spot for them
- 33:02Speaker 4: going to South Carolina who gets their best defensive player,
- 33:06Speaker 4: Dylan Stewart back. When our sellers is showing a little
- 33:09Speaker 4: bit more of the running game ability that he showed
- 33:12Speaker 4: a couple of years ago that made him a very
- 33:15Speaker 4: highly thought of quarterback. This feels like a really good
- 33:18Speaker 4: spot for South Carolina laying three and ass. I like them.
- 33:22Speaker 4: All right. Played Northwestern at school near and dear to
- 33:25Speaker 4: your heart. Yep. Laying three and a half against Colorado. Yep.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Colorado had that big win in Atlanta against Georgia Tech
- 33:33Speaker 4: earlier in the year. But I think what we're going
- 33:35Speaker 4: to see as the year goes on, that might be
- 33:38Speaker 4: more of a reflection on Georgia Tech than it was Colorado. Clearly,
- 33:43Speaker 4: they controlled the line of scrimmage and ran the ball
- 33:45Speaker 4: a little bit better. But Northwestern in that running game,
- 33:48Speaker 4: I think they can have success there. against Colorado. So
- 33:52Speaker 4: I laid the three and a half with Northwestern there.
- 33:54Speaker 2: I like that.
- 33:54Speaker 1: They're a decent team. They just extended their head coach.
- 33:57Speaker 1: But yeah, they are a decent team. I like that
- 33:59Speaker 1: at home.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Yes, go ahead.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I like Maryland plus the three against Virginia Tech. Another
- 34:07Speaker 4: one of those underrated hate type games. James Franklin bringing
- 34:11Speaker 4: Virginia Tech to Maryland. So I think Maryland plus the
- 34:14Speaker 4: three is the right side there. And I'm going to
- 34:16Speaker 4: hold my nose.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Wow.
- 34:18Speaker 4: One more time.
- 34:19Speaker 3: I love that.
- 34:20Speaker 2: I love this. The whole thing last week of the week. Yes. Yes.
- 34:25Speaker 4: And I'm going to take Florida state plus the points
- 34:27Speaker 4: against Alabama. Okay.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Can you do it while holding your nose though? You
- 34:31Speaker 2: have to do it.
- 34:34Speaker 4: I can't believe I'm doing this. Florida state plus the
- 34:39Speaker 4: points against Alabama. Alabama had that great second half in
- 34:43Speaker 4: Kentucky last week. Nobody wants a piece of Florida State
- 34:46Speaker 4: right now with how they played and that loss against SMU.
- 34:50Speaker 4: The fans are booing Mike Norvell on the team. Alabama,
- 34:54Speaker 4: of course, is going to blow them out after losing
- 34:56Speaker 4: Florida State last year. Just seems like a lot of
- 35:00Speaker 4: points here. It does seem like a lot of points here.
- 35:02Speaker 4: Everyone is just assuming that Alabama is going to win
- 35:04Speaker 4: this game by three or four touchdowns, and they might.
- 35:07Speaker 4: But I think Florida State will win. hang around just
- 35:12Speaker 4: a little bit. Kroma in the running game, they've been
- 35:14Speaker 4: pretty good. The Russians can't throw worth a lick.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 35:18Speaker 4: So that'll be a big problem.
- 35:19Speaker 2: You're not saying Florida State's going to win.
- 35:21Speaker 1: You're saying Alabama, a little bit of a letdown spot.
- 35:23Speaker 2: They're going to win. Just not cover the spread. That's all.
- 35:25Speaker 4: I was going to say, do you know what 34-17 is?
- 35:28Speaker 3: Cover.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Yes, it's a win for you. Right. You got your.
- 35:32Speaker 4: Carolina blue on today. What do you think of the
- 35:34Speaker 4: Tar Heels going to Clemson this week?
- 35:37Speaker 1: I wear this because I only have five of them
- 35:40Speaker 1: and they're all different colors. I wear them in rotation.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Mikey is nodding his head. So I just happened to
- 35:44Speaker 1: wear Carolina blue today.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I listen.
- 35:47Speaker 1: We did win loss with Carolina before the season started
- 35:50Speaker 1: and I had them going undefeated.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I love you.
- 35:54Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:57Speaker 1: But I will tell you this, if they lose two
- 35:58Speaker 1: or three games, Belichick's getting fired. I mean, there's too
- 36:02Speaker 1: much smoke around that thing, man.
- 36:04Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 36:06Speaker 4: It's kind of ugly around there right now. Son's gone.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Michael Lombardi is gone. Yeah, it's problematic.
- 36:13Speaker 2: All right.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Well, Bear, we appreciate it. Enjoy London. It's almost dinner
- 36:17Speaker 1: time for you.
- 36:18Speaker 2: What, Mikey? What happened?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Bear doesn't watch any NFL? We're not doing any NFL
- 36:22Speaker 3: with Bear?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot about the NFL picks. My bad.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Well, I didn't know how focused he was because he's
- 36:29Speaker 1: in London. He had long travels. I didn't know, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 1: he's not going to be able to watch some of
- 36:33Speaker 1: these games. I didn't know if he was going to
- 36:35Speaker 1: pick them. What am I talking about?
- 36:36Speaker 2: It's Bear.
- 36:37Speaker 3: He picked these games seven weeks ago. Mikey, I'm sorry.
- 36:43Speaker 4: I didn't see a second of the Bills game last
- 36:45Speaker 4: night just because, again, it was on.
- 36:46Speaker 2: The Bills are good.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll save you the watch. The Bills are very good.
- 36:53Speaker 4: I saw the final score.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Final score was a liar.
- 36:58Speaker 2: I will tell you this. I like the Lions.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I told Taylor I'm in a suicide pool, and I
- 37:04Speaker 1: already chose the Lions to win the game, and Taylor
- 37:07Speaker 1: talked me out of it, and I ended up taking Buffalo,
- 37:09Speaker 1: and I'm glad that he did.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Good. Yes.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Good, but the final score– and this was the highest
- 37:16Speaker 4: scoring week one ever. Like the games are kind of non-dramatic,
- 37:21Speaker 4: non-compelling and like kind of boring when it's like, Oh, well,
- 37:25Speaker 4: how many places are going to take the score touchdown
- 37:27Speaker 4: this time? Oh, how many days are going to like,
- 37:29Speaker 4: there aren't any stops.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, listen, you get the ball.
- 37:34Speaker 4: You're basically in scoring range because team cross gets like
- 37:37Speaker 4: the 45 and it's a 61 yard field goal and
- 37:39Speaker 4: all it's good.
- 37:40Speaker 3: It's good.
- 37:42Speaker 4: Like, You've got to add some defense back in this game,
- 37:44Speaker 4: a little bit of drama.
- 37:45Speaker 3: Yeah, not everything can be 4-0, Bear.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And if you want defense in the NFL, just watch
- 37:51Speaker 1: the Steelers.
- 37:52Speaker 4: Yeah, but do they get to play Cooper Rush every week?
- 37:56Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 37:57Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Well, then just watch whoever is playing Cooper Rush that week.
- 38:03Speaker 4: Tell me the Carolina Panthers this week.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Carolina is a very interesting team, an entertaining team.
- 38:11Speaker 1: So who do you like here, Bear? By the way, again,
- 38:13Speaker 1: I was 5-1, Stu, you guys. Was it 4-1 or
- 38:15Speaker 1: 5-1 last week?
- 38:17Speaker 4: We'll give you 5-1. Double credit.
- 38:20Speaker 3: Oh, no, it was 5-1. It was 5-1.
- 38:22Speaker 2: It was 5-1.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Mikey's going to hate this. I love the Jets at home.
- 38:25Speaker 1: So anyway, who do we like, Bear?
- 38:29Speaker 4: I like the Titans. I know that's horrible to say. Bear.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Terrible last week.
- 38:36Speaker 2: Bear.
- 38:37Speaker 4: The Eagles only had 10 first downs in that game.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Yeah, should he hold his nose, Mikey?
- 38:41Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know how he's not.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I'm holding it.
- 38:45Speaker 4: I'm going to take Titans plus seven points against the Eagles.
- 38:49Speaker 4: How can they be any worse? I think the Titans'
- 38:52Speaker 4: defense is still serviceable. And as I just said, Eagles'
- 38:58Speaker 4: offense was more of a big play type of thing.
- 39:01Speaker 4: A couple of big scoring plays, 10 first downs in
- 39:03Speaker 4: the game. I don't know, seven points with an absolute– disgusting,
- 39:08Speaker 4: ugly dog. I mean, that seems like potentially you're going
- 39:13Speaker 4: to look down at like the picks distribution this week
- 39:16Speaker 4: and you're going to see about 75% of the tickets
- 39:19Speaker 4: on the Eagles. And you never want to be on
- 39:21Speaker 4: that side, even though I will say in the NFL,
- 39:23Speaker 4: that's kind of been the way it's gone lately. I
- 39:26Speaker 4: do like the Patriots as well against the Steelers.
- 39:34Speaker 2: A little bounce back?
- 39:36Speaker 4: I think it's a bounce back. I think the Steelers'
- 39:38Speaker 4: win was more about the Atlanta Falcons and Cooper Rush
- 39:41Speaker 4: being absolutely atrocious, getting that defensive score. I know no A.J. Brown,
- 39:46Speaker 4: but I would think that As long as the offensive
- 39:50Speaker 4: line of the Patriots can block a little bit, I
- 39:53Speaker 4: think they'll be okay. Those are my two favorite games.
- 39:59Speaker 4: I think I like the Houston Texans as well as
- 40:04Speaker 4: a bronze medal play against Cincinnati. Not just because you
- 40:08Speaker 4: hear this injury report about Burrow, but the Bengals, that
- 40:13Speaker 4: shouldn't have been a game last week with Tampa Bay.
- 40:15Speaker 4: Tampa Bay just turned the ball over a million times
- 40:17Speaker 4: and If they turn it over once instead of four times,
- 40:20Speaker 4: they'd probably go to Cincinnati and win. So I think
- 40:23Speaker 4: Bucs might be a little bit overrated or a little... Yeah,
- 40:28Speaker 4: Bucs are a little underrated, I think, at this point.
- 40:30Speaker 4: The Bengals might be a little bit overrated coming off
- 40:33Speaker 4: of that win. And you never want to say, oh,
- 40:35Speaker 4: it's a must win. It's do or die week two. But...
- 40:39Speaker 4: If the Texans lose this game, they're 0-2 against two
- 40:43Speaker 4: seeming contenders in the AFC, and who knows what that
- 40:46Speaker 4: does in terms of seedings, potential wild card, whatever else.
- 40:50Speaker 4: It really is a must win. You've got to be
- 40:53Speaker 4: a little bit impressed, excited, positive, optimistic on the Texans'
- 40:59Speaker 4: offense last week, putting up all those points, too.
- 41:01Speaker 2: That's what Mikey was saying, because you know that defense
- 41:03Speaker 2: is going to show up every single week, but the
- 41:05Speaker 2: big question you had was C.J. Stroud. He made the
- 41:07Speaker 2: turnover late. He made some bad.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Plays late, but if they put up 30-plus points, they're
- 41:12Speaker 1: going to win just about every game.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yeah. All right, Bear, enjoy London. We appreciate the time.
- 41:19Speaker 1: As always, hopefully you'll be able to avoid the LSU-Mississippi
- 41:22Speaker 1: score and march in on the train to a plane,
- 41:25Speaker 1: wherever the hell you're going.
- 41:27Speaker 2: We love you, buddy. Bear Betts, check it out wherever
- 41:28Speaker 2: you get your podcast. Thank you, buddy.
- 41:30Speaker 4: You got it, guys.
