- 4:05Speaker 3: At the moment? Yes, okay, yeah, yeah, I've got like
- 4:08Speaker 3: a week in me. Okay, the week is a mechanic
- 4:11Speaker 3: and then it's you know, there's face or I give up,
- 4:13Speaker 3: So okay, it's faked or someone else is gonna have
- 4:16Speaker 3: to come to it some Well yeah, cool, I'm gonna
- 4:19Speaker 3: go at that mobile deal, that mobile mechanic. That's the move.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I used one on Saturday and it was great. It
- 4:29Speaker 3: was and it was just done. I mean that's the play.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah it is, Yeah, it is. I'll adopt that. Well,
- 4:38Speaker 3: I see that it's it's uh, it's a perfect day
- 4:41Speaker 3: for you. Which got it's National Sleepy Head Day. All right? Now,
- 4:47Speaker 3: how late did you sleep yesterday? I was up at
- 4:52Speaker 3: like eleven okay, yeah, I had to get up my
- 4:55Speaker 3: sisters in town or was in town okay, I mean
- 4:58Speaker 3: her her husband went should have whatnot? Well are you what?
- 5:08Speaker 3: How late did you sleep on Saturday? Well, I mean
- 5:12Speaker 3: I gotta put like ten thirty. But I took a
- 5:13Speaker 3: nap intol like three gotta p at ten thirty, went
- 5:16Speaker 3: back to bed at like eleven thirty. I just needed
- 5:20Speaker 3: a little that. Yeah, man, I eighty good. I don't
- 5:23Speaker 3: even know what. I ate ate something and then I
- 5:24Speaker 3: needed to knock out. Then you needed three more or
- 5:27Speaker 3: two and a half more to reboot. Okay, I rebooted.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I feel great. Perfect. You're perfect for National Sleepy had Days.
- 5:35Speaker 4: Good.
- 5:36Speaker 3: You've fallen asleep during this show. I fall asleep doing
- 5:39Speaker 3: so many things. It's impressive. Yeah, it really is. Uh not.
- 5:44Speaker 3: But it's also National Chicken finger Day. All right, So
- 5:48Speaker 3: you're you're part of that generation. So I wasn't part
- 5:52Speaker 3: of the chicken strip generation. You are one hundred. I
- 5:57Speaker 3: think it's one of our biggest downfalls. But you're you're
- 6:00Speaker 3: part of You're part of the chicken strip generation. Well,
- 6:04Speaker 3: and then it's gone down. You know, my kids too
- 6:06Speaker 3: and so on. Well, what is the chicken is it?
- 6:09Speaker 3: What technically is the chicken strip? Isn't it half of
- 6:11Speaker 3: a chicken tender? That I don't know? I think, Well,
- 6:16Speaker 3: i'll read you this all right, so national chicken finger
- 6:19Speaker 3: dackmm let's see if there's anything expect special offers free
- 6:27Speaker 3: chicken fingers with purchase. In previous years, Raising Canes has
- 6:33Speaker 3: done something Zaxby, Chick fil A, KFC, pipey b B bah.
- 6:38Speaker 3: I'm not really getting a lot here, Damn. Raising Canes
- 6:43Speaker 3: was founded in nineteen ninety six. I thought it was newer.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I didn't roize it was that long ago. Wow, that's impressive.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Boom down. So I wonder when it boomed. I would
- 6:58Speaker 3: probably say about ten years later. Had yeah, right around
- 7:01Speaker 3: two thousand and six. I'm sure he was already doing well. Yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 3: I don't know how many he had in Baton Rouge
- 7:08Speaker 3: by then. That's a yeah, but that that's the deal.
- 7:13Speaker 3: I'm looking here the top brands. One is Raising Canes,
- 7:16Speaker 3: two is Zaxby's, which I don't think is any good.
- 7:19Speaker 3: Three is Chick fil A I had to go there
- 7:21Speaker 3: Saturday morning to get a bunch of food. Uh, Wendy
- 7:24Speaker 3: called it in, so I didn't have to do anything nice.
- 7:27Speaker 3: But uh, Wilkes had like forty seven people over and
- 7:32Speaker 3: so Wendy felt like we need to feed him. Uh.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Four is KFC, five as Popeyes, Yeah, six is Tyson Foods,
- 7:42Speaker 3: John Calipari's best friends, and seven is Purdue Farms. So
- 7:48Speaker 3: but they say the hero is Todd Graves. That's interesting.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I would have thought that's interesting. I thought it would
- 7:55Speaker 3: be the two fla guy. Yeah, but you know, Todd
- 7:59Speaker 3: is kind of out out in a bout. But young
- 8:01Speaker 3: young Bill, Yeah, worth several billion dollars and so yeah, hey,
- 8:12Speaker 3: who knew he's gonna at twenty bill and he's gonna
- 8:16Speaker 3: he's going to fund Lane Kiffin. How much chicken you
- 8:20Speaker 3: have to sell again for that number? Oh gosh, I
- 8:25Speaker 3: don't know. I don't know how many hundreds of millions
- 8:28Speaker 3: of chicken strips he sold. But it's also crim burlay Day,
- 8:34Speaker 3: which is really good. Yeah, and I highly especially if
- 8:39Speaker 3: you're at a good restaurant, which I hope you are.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It doesn't have to be fancy. So I'm not good. Uh,
- 8:44Speaker 3: like they're referencing the Cheesecake Factory here with Prim Burley,
- 8:48Speaker 3: and that's not what I was thinking. Yeah, I was
- 8:51Speaker 3: there in Atlanta in nineteen ninety eight or so. I
- 8:54Speaker 3: was over there for the I don't remember if it
- 8:57Speaker 3: was the SEC Championship game when MSU played in it
- 9:00Speaker 3: or something else, but it was right around nineteen ninety eight,
- 9:04Speaker 3: and I went to the Cheesecake Factory. And when I
- 9:08Speaker 3: sat down and I realized that they were that the
- 9:13Speaker 3: menu was twenty four pages long. That's when I knew
- 9:16Speaker 3: the place was garbage. We're we are the out of
- 9:18Speaker 3: Bound Show ESPN one oh five nine. The zone one
- 9:22Speaker 3: page menu, two page max. We'll be back in a second,
- 9:25Speaker 3: And the show is powered by Pearl River Resort and
- 9:28Speaker 3: the super cool Golden Moon Casino Vegas Style Sportsbook.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Thanks Zombies PubL. Speaking. The list of fears is endless,
- 10:02Speaker 4: but the real danger is in your hand when you're
- 10:05Speaker 4: behind the wheel. Distracted driving is what's really scary, and
- 10:08Speaker 4: even deadly. Eyes forward, don't drive distracted Brought to you
- 10:12Speaker 4: by NITZA and the AD Council.
- 10:13Speaker 3: What's onboard? What's on the big board? Hey, i'd a
- 10:38Speaker 3: bounds ESPN one oh five nine the zone.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Anybody else got any questions about any college jobs?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Is not a booster? Would a big enough blank check
- 10:51Speaker 3: When Mike Tomlin called out every college booster in America.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I think it made America better. I really do. I do.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Out of bounds, ESPN one oh five down at the zone.
- 11:08Speaker 3: The big board this morning is brought to you by
- 11:11Speaker 3: Independent Roofing Systems. They are number one in the commercial
- 11:16Speaker 3: and industrial roofing space. Roofing ms. Done right, the first
- 11:22Speaker 3: time Independent Roofing Systems. Anyone else man, That'll be the
- 11:28Speaker 3: last time to address it. We will see Mike Tomlin
- 11:32Speaker 3: on Sunday Night football. All right, Pittsburgh Steelers have another coach.
- 11:40Speaker 3: They're fourth one, Chuck Noll, Bill Cower, Mike Tomlin, Mike McCarthy.
- 11:48Speaker 3: So bem bam. How about that four decades almost more
- 11:56Speaker 3: longer than that, Yeah, because Noel goes even further back
- 12:01Speaker 3: that sixty Yeah, and he ripped off those Super Bowls
- 12:06Speaker 3: in the seventies with Bradshaw and Mean Joe Green and
- 12:10Speaker 3: Lynn Swan and Rocky Blir, Jack Lambert and all those dudes.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Yeah my god. Yeah, So he was there for twenty
- 12:19Speaker 3: two years. Casually talking about Chuck Noll was that it
- 12:26Speaker 3: God felt like he was there for a lot longer,
- 12:28Speaker 3: and then Coward took over. Correct color takes over. He's
- 12:31Speaker 3: there for a smooth eighteen years, Okay, Tomlin eighteen more years.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Anter McCarthy, Okay, Wow. During that time, the Cleveland Browns
- 12:45Speaker 3: probably had forty seven coaches. I mean forty seven coaches
- 12:52Speaker 3: in about what fifty quarterbacks? Oh yeah, well that's a
- 12:56Speaker 3: good point. You know, during a big chunk of what
- 12:59Speaker 3: you just described, the Steelers had Bradshaw and Roethlisberger. Now
- 13:04Speaker 3: there was some you know, there was some downtime post Bradshaw.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Coward never could really come up. What was that guy's name,
- 13:12Speaker 3: O'Donnell or something. I mean, they had some kind of
- 13:15Speaker 3: serviceable qbs. They have Cordell Stewart at one point they
- 13:19Speaker 3: did like slash uh. Yeah, people love Cordell. He was
- 13:24Speaker 3: out of Colorado when Colorado was cool, that's right. Yeah,
- 13:28Speaker 3: before what did he and the enemy who would go
- 13:34Speaker 3: on to be an assistant coach in the NFL for years?
- 13:37Speaker 3: Eric they played for the gut was the guy's name McCartney.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Bill McCartney won a national Championship for joining some religious organization.
- 13:50Speaker 3: So yeah, so Bradshaw and Roethlisberger were the guys. And uh,
- 14:00Speaker 3: I mean they've got Aaron on the you know, the
- 14:02Speaker 3: last eighteenth all of his career, so okay, I'm sure
- 14:07Speaker 3: I'm missing. I mean, I know they had like Bobby Brister,
- 14:13Speaker 3: you know, Cower kind of cowor was I don't I
- 14:17Speaker 3: think the ball yeah, I mean he wasn't real innovative
- 14:23Speaker 3: on the offensive side of the football, but it weren't
- 14:26Speaker 3: a little bit. I mean they did get a Super
- 14:28Speaker 3: Bowl at the very end with Jerome Bettis. Roethlisberger really
- 14:32Speaker 3: didn't have to throw as a rookie with that the
- 14:35Speaker 3: second year, I don't remember with that style translated today. Yeah,
- 14:41Speaker 3: especially in in December, January, place in September, October, November,
- 14:48Speaker 3: we throw the ball, sling it and run. But in
- 14:52Speaker 3: decem when things get colder, things get primitive, then then
- 14:57Speaker 3: it's you know, can you run it and stop the run?
- 14:59Speaker 3: It kind of flips as we go into the last
- 15:01Speaker 3: few weeks of the season. But definitely the playoffs, not
- 15:04Speaker 3: every single year, but I mean, you didn't have any
- 15:06Speaker 3: kind of prolific quarterbacks in the Super Bowl this past year. No,
- 15:10Speaker 3: I mean, you know, come on, not even close. Sam
- 15:15Speaker 3: Darnold and Drake May I mean, neither one of those
- 15:18Speaker 3: are top fifteen quarterbacks in the NFL, but they were
- 15:20Speaker 3: both in the Super Bowl because of the way that
- 15:23Speaker 3: their teams were constructed, you know. And yeah, so I
- 15:29Speaker 3: think that's a great example right there. I mean, neither
- 15:31Speaker 3: one of those guys scared defensive coordinator, but they were
- 15:34Speaker 3: both in the Super Bowl. We've had that happen several
- 15:37Speaker 3: times in the two thousands. And then you know, like
- 15:40Speaker 3: I say all the time, Warren Moon, who's better than
- 15:43Speaker 3: a lot of guys who won it in the two thousands.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Dan Fouts and Dan Marino didn't win it. Holy smokes,
- 15:53Speaker 3: isn't that crazy? No, Donald got won. Yeah, and believe it,
- 15:58Speaker 3: Donald got one Seahawks. That's impressive what John Snyder did.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Speaking we always talked about old miss Mississippi State building teams,
- 16:09Speaker 3: building rosters in football, basketball, and baseball. Man Snyder's this
- 16:14Speaker 3: is like his fifth iteration. It's incredible. And he was
- 16:20Speaker 3: able to find the elixir in the formula and hand
- 16:24Speaker 3: it off to Mike McDonald, who then delivered Seattle with
- 16:27Speaker 3: another So it was a snoozer. Yeah, but another super Bowl. Yeah,
- 16:32Speaker 3: but don't tell them that none of the other you know,
- 16:35Speaker 3: don't none of the country cares about the Seattle Seahawks,
- 16:38Speaker 3: which is crazy because they're an NFL team. But but
- 16:42Speaker 3: I can promise you they value and treasure that championship
- 16:46Speaker 3: and you can't tell them any different, oh doubt. Back
- 16:49Speaker 3: in the day, they had a Mad video game. Obviously
- 16:52Speaker 3: they still have MAD, but they had a Mad GM mode. Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 3: so what you were just a GM that was the
- 16:57Speaker 3: whole video game. But he just played as the GM
- 16:59Speaker 3: the whole time, did they really? It was pretty cool.
- 17:01Speaker 3: It only lasted a year or two, but it was
- 17:03Speaker 3: I wonder why they pulled it because people people were enough.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yeah that and you know what I mean, it's a
- 17:09Speaker 3: little over. It's like, yeah, it's like bar two going
- 17:11Speaker 3: on fine bone right, yeah. Actually, and the producer saying,
- 17:13Speaker 3: our listenership can't follow this a very good comparison. Okay,
- 17:18Speaker 3: that's exactly that was. Yes, I got you, but it
- 17:21Speaker 3: was cool. Okay, so I guess he just honed it.
- 17:24Speaker 3: We got to be in grad school, obviously, I was
- 17:27Speaker 3: in sport management, and they let us be GM's first semester. Oh,
- 17:31Speaker 3: that was part of our class. It was, and they
- 17:33Speaker 3: gave us a budget and it was so much fun
- 17:37Speaker 3: to uh and and they put you in with a
- 17:40Speaker 3: group and I don't remember if those three of us,
- 17:44Speaker 3: but uh but I took the lead in our group
- 17:46Speaker 3: just because I was so fired up about it. And
- 17:50Speaker 3: it was a ton of fun, like a big simulation
- 17:53Speaker 3: type build just roll comba. Yeah. Yeah, I mean that's
- 17:59Speaker 3: a good course. Yeah, of course that you could. That's
- 18:03Speaker 3: a that's a fun and grad school course, no doubt.
- 18:08Speaker 3: When you when you get a salary cap or basically
- 18:13Speaker 3: and you're an NFL GM, that that and that's a
- 18:17Speaker 3: class that's so do Yeah. But I mean it was
- 18:20Speaker 3: all business, right, I mean you still learned. I mean
- 18:22Speaker 3: there's still numbers and transactions and budgeting and everything. It
- 18:27Speaker 3: was still you know, challenge. Everybody was still competing, which
- 18:31Speaker 3: is what I thought was fun. Props to that teacher. Yeah, yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 3: no doubt. I had some good ones. Man, I had three.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I had three stars somehow just got lucky. A lot
- 18:46Speaker 3: of you knows being there what I was in grad
- 18:51Speaker 3: school teachers aren't fans of being there. Well, these were.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I wish they'd have stayed longer, but I understand. I mean,
- 19:00Speaker 3: got great offers. All right. We are the out of
- 19:02Speaker 3: Bound Show, ESPN one oh five nine The Zone. We've
- 19:07Speaker 3: got some audio for you. Charles Huff could be could
- 19:12Speaker 3: be a P four coach soon he talks about it.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Urban Meyer, some really good audio Urban Meyer Coaching with
- 19:22Speaker 3: Beer Lane. Kiffin goes Steve Jobs on us. He is
- 19:28Speaker 3: really really philosophical. He is really really the zon, the
- 19:35Speaker 3: the uh. He's our meditation voice or reason college football coach.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Who knew that Lane could ever be the voice of reason?
- 19:47Speaker 3: Oh my god? I love it. All right. So we've
- 19:50Speaker 3: got great audio coming up next. Urban Meyer on coaching
- 19:55Speaker 3: with Beer Lane, Kiffin goes Steve Jobs. We are the

- 20:15Speaker 7: H m m.
- 20:18Speaker 6: M mm hmmmmmmmmmmmm mm hm h.
- 20:29Speaker 4: M m.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I mean that's a joke to me, all right, And
- 20:36Speaker 2: so this team is gonna be built on We're gonna
- 20:39Speaker 2: kick you in the teeth, all right, and when you
- 20:41Speaker 2: punch us back, we're gonna smile at you. And when
- 20:43Speaker 2: you knock us down, we're gonna get up, and on
- 20:46Speaker 2: the way up, we're gonna buy a kneecap off, all right,
- 20:48Speaker 2: and we're gonna stand up, and then it's gonna take
- 20:50Speaker 2: two more shots to knock us down, all right. And
- 20:53Speaker 2: on the way up, we're gonna take your other kneecap
- 20:55Speaker 2: and we're gonna get up, and then it's gonna take
- 20:57Speaker 2: three shots to get us down. And when we do,
- 20:59Speaker 2: we're gonna take another hunk out of you. Before before long,
- 21:02Speaker 2: where there going to be the last one standing?
- 21:05Speaker 3: We are the out of Bound show, ESPN one oh
- 21:09Speaker 3: five nine the Zone. That's Dan Campbell, head coach of
- 21:13Speaker 3: the Detroit lines, And uh yeah, that's an NFL coach,
- 21:17Speaker 3: not a ninth grade offensive line coach. Isn't that incredible?
- 21:20Speaker 3: Sounds like he's giving you a replay of maybe a
- 21:21Speaker 3: fight he was in. I feel like he's, yeah, he's
- 21:25Speaker 3: probably lived that at least fourteen times, no doubt he's
- 21:28Speaker 3: bitting on the way up. I mean, that guy, how
- 21:30Speaker 3: many so, I mean he was a football. How many
- 21:32Speaker 3: bar fights did he get in in college? What do
- 21:36Speaker 3: you get tight end all the way through? Now that
- 21:39Speaker 3: I don't know, I know he was at one point,
- 21:40Speaker 3: but I don't know if it was all the way through.
- 21:42Speaker 3: He is a big man. He's trench made like he
- 21:45Speaker 3: can do that. Yeah, get out there. Yeah, why don't
- 21:48Speaker 3: you give me a little background on Dan Campbell? I
- 21:52Speaker 3: mean where'd he play?
- 21:54Speaker 6: Oh?
- 21:54Speaker 3: Look at that? You know all that. We're ESPN one

- 22:34Speaker 3: gets crushed when people cut it up. And everywhere, well
- 22:40Speaker 3: that's why it's literally everywhere. Oh he's he's everywhere. He
- 22:43Speaker 3: doesn't have to be he doesn't have to be tweeting
- 22:46Speaker 3: because he can do an interview with Big Cat, he
- 22:49Speaker 3: can do an interview with the Honey Badger, he can
- 22:51Speaker 3: do an interview with Bandy Fair and then all the
- 22:53Speaker 3: interviews that he did at SEC Media Days, and he's
- 22:57Speaker 3: he's good to go. It's crazy and and people are
- 23:04Speaker 3: like it's him, No, it's everybody wants to consume what
- 23:08Speaker 3: he's saying, and you know, continuing to ask him questions
- 23:14Speaker 3: about everything that he's doing, whether it was leaving old
- 23:17Speaker 3: miss or what he said here or there. He's he's
- 23:20Speaker 3: you know, it's it's he and Kirby. But Lane's the
- 23:22Speaker 3: voice of college football. Now. When Saban is talking to
- 23:27Speaker 3: us on Saturday mornings on with the biggest show with
- 23:31Speaker 3: the biggest ratings on game day, then we can we
- 23:36Speaker 3: can say that there's a couple of different voices that
- 23:38Speaker 3: are leading the way, right Saban, Kiffen and Kirby when
- 23:42Speaker 3: he wants to and but but yeah, Saban, last week
- 23:50Speaker 3: was really I can't believe he does that, like just
- 23:53Speaker 3: kind of considering who he is. I mean, I also
- 23:57Speaker 3: understand that he's got plenty of downtime now, but I
- 24:02Speaker 3: can't believe he did that much work last week. It
- 24:07Speaker 3: was it was and and well he will, I mean,
- 24:10Speaker 3: it's not you. I mean you still have to think.
- 24:12Speaker 3: And he's done his homework and you can tell he
- 24:15Speaker 3: was more than familiar with I'm not saying that he
- 24:19Speaker 3: could do a deep, deep, deep, deep deep dive into
- 24:22Speaker 3: every team, which I'm not sure anybody can. But he's
- 24:26Speaker 3: talked to all the coaches. He knows. You know, a
- 24:29Speaker 3: lot of the players pieces coming back. Thought he did
- 24:31Speaker 3: a really good job and he stole the show on
- 24:34Speaker 3: TV and he'll continue to always. Michael s says, go balls. Okay,
- 24:42Speaker 3: you know Tennessee is a forgotten team with Lane overshadows
- 24:47Speaker 3: everybody with what Kirby's done at Georgia. A little bit
- 24:53Speaker 3: of sark in Archie. Well, no, I mean the media's
- 24:56Speaker 3: is swooning over Texas. They were, they were the boat.
- 25:00Speaker 3: I don't agree with it. I would vote Georgia. I
- 25:02Speaker 3: think it's Georgia one. And then there's a cluster of
- 25:05Speaker 3: teams that could could leap frog Georgia or be the
- 25:10Speaker 3: top in this group. Bama, Ole, miss LSU in Texas.
- 25:14Speaker 3: That's that group. Now Tennessee may be there. We're kind
- 25:19Speaker 3: of sleeping on them. Hypel two years ago goes to
- 25:22Speaker 3: the college football Playoff. Last year they did not. They
- 25:27Speaker 3: had a solid team, lost his quarterback. Well, Niko went
- 25:32Speaker 3: to UCLA and Joey Aguilar came in from ucl Well,
- 25:36Speaker 3: they did the switch away. Remember we lived that. Everybody
- 25:38Speaker 3: made a big deal and got hide and bothered over that. Yeah,
- 25:41Speaker 3: I didn't get that. But anyway, the point in all
- 25:44Speaker 3: that is everything that Lane says gets crushed everywhere on
- 25:51Speaker 3: social media, whatever platform you like. Then two, if Kirby
- 25:54Speaker 3: wants to get something out, people are going to listen.
- 25:58Speaker 3: And then Saban with his plat form on ESPN now
- 26:03Speaker 3: is you know, front and center, and he has made
- 26:06Speaker 3: Game Day that had gotten really really tired, even with
- 26:09Speaker 3: a reboot with McAfee, he has made Game Day a
- 26:13Speaker 3: thousand times better. You can be sitting there on Saturday
- 26:18Speaker 3: and it can be background music for you and he
- 26:20Speaker 3: starts talking about a game or something and you can
- 26:24Speaker 3: stop and get two to three minutes of what he says,
- 26:28Speaker 3: and it's really really good. He's he's not just a
- 26:33Speaker 3: ball coach, and there's nothing wrong with that, but he's
- 26:37Speaker 3: just he's got a gift that almost takes you off
- 26:41Speaker 3: because you know, he's really really smart. Of course, he's
- 26:45Speaker 3: really really intense and focused even on what he's doing
- 26:49Speaker 3: on TV while mcfee's over there dancing and doing all
- 26:53Speaker 3: his well. So you see them they try to cut,
- 26:56Speaker 3: they'll show them during the break. After they come back,
- 26:58Speaker 3: they'll have video and McAfee's dancing and doing things, and
- 27:03Speaker 3: Saban is looking over his notes and like, you know,
- 27:09Speaker 3: tying something in. So it's great. You needed that because
- 27:14Speaker 3: you know, Desmond's boring Herbstreet's okay, and Reese is there
- 27:20Speaker 3: to drive the ship. So you needed some pop and
- 27:23Speaker 3: you got it with Saban and McAfee. I mean, I
- 27:25Speaker 3: think it was a big hit because I think Fox
- 27:28Speaker 3: was really making some ground and then a couple of
- 27:31Speaker 3: things happened. Whatever reason, Fox and Reggie Bush couldn't couldn't
- 27:36Speaker 3: get a contract done, which blows my mind. You keep Regie,
- 27:39Speaker 3: and maybe you just didn't want to do it anymore.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I'm not sure. I thought he was great, and I
- 27:44Speaker 3: mean probably had a chance to be the best studio
- 27:47Speaker 3: analyst outside of Saban. And they're totally different, one being
- 27:51Speaker 3: a former player at a super high level and one
- 27:53Speaker 3: being the best coach in the history of college football.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Now that thing so stylistically in path totally different, But
- 28:01Speaker 3: that all kind of it lined up. It wasn't the
- 28:05Speaker 3: exact same year, I don't think, but not retaining or whatever,
- 28:12Speaker 3: Reggie Bush on the Fox Big Game Show and Saban
- 28:15Speaker 3: retiring and joining Game Day even with Urban Meyer being
- 28:19Speaker 3: as good as he is. Set it's set the Fox Show.
- 28:25Speaker 3: I think they had made up some ground and then
- 28:27Speaker 3: I think they lost it. Yeah, would love to see
- 28:29Speaker 3: Saban and Reggie would love to I think they could jail.
- 28:33Speaker 3: I think they do on the same set. Yeah, I
- 28:35Speaker 3: think it'd be pretty cool. It would work, just like
- 28:39Speaker 3: anybody's gonna work. I mean, Saban has you know what's
- 28:43Speaker 3: crazy about Saban is structured and militaristic as he is,
- 28:47Speaker 3: he's able to understand that McAfee brings a certain element
- 28:54Speaker 3: and piece of the puzzle to the show that works.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Plus Saban does like so, I don't watch McAfee but
- 29:00Speaker 3: understand these huge, huge but on is it Friday afternoons?
- 29:05Speaker 3: I think it is. Saban joins him wherever they are
- 29:09Speaker 3: and whoever thought of putting them together? Yeah, So when
- 29:13Speaker 3: you're when you're when you cruise into Startbear or Oxford
- 29:16Speaker 3: or you're hanging out for the weekend and your team's
- 29:18Speaker 3: not playing, Savan and McFee do a really good interview
- 29:23Speaker 3: on Fridays from ann Arbor, Tuscaloosa or wherever. Wow. That's
- 29:29Speaker 3: and Ole miss is going to host Game Day again
- 29:33Speaker 3: again this year because Kiffin and Lsu were going to Oxford.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Wee three biggest game. Hey, your sec insider hit this

- 29:55Speaker 3: by your local Farm Bureau Insurance agent Auto Home Life,
- 29:59Speaker 3: Farm Bureau. Go local, Go with the home team. As
- 30:02Speaker 3: Jake Mangham likes to tell us, all right, let's switch gears. Jackson.
- 30:07Speaker 3: I enjoyed though, talking Saban and Reggie Bush, two very
- 30:10Speaker 3: talented guys both in football and on TV, which is
- 30:13Speaker 3: not easy at all. And Saban's only gotten better, but
- 30:18Speaker 3: he had because his last fifteen year run with Bama
- 30:23Speaker 3: was during the new media age. He was in front
- 30:26Speaker 3: of microphones and cameras every single week. Yeah, and of
- 30:31Speaker 3: course Reggie grew up as a star. I mean, that's
- 30:33Speaker 3: Southern They were the first modern that was the first
- 30:38Speaker 3: modern college football star program when Pete got it going,
- 30:43Speaker 3: and then Carson Palmer, Reggie and line Art and all
- 30:48Speaker 3: those guys on defense. Yeah, rock stars. Yeah. And then
- 30:55Speaker 3: it went to Florid, you know, but it got it
- 30:58Speaker 3: went from Southern cal from about two to six, and
- 31:02Speaker 3: then they handed it off to Florida and Tibo and Urban,
- 31:07Speaker 3: who then handed it off to Bama and Saban, and
- 31:11Speaker 3: then it got handed to Dabbo and Deshaun and their
- 31:14Speaker 3: run and then Kirby And now we've just been four
- 31:18Speaker 3: different ones the last four years, so we haven't been
- 31:20Speaker 3: doing any like somebody went in two or four years
- 31:23Speaker 3: or two years in a row. In a minute, right, yeah, Now,
- 31:28Speaker 3: could Indiana sure or could any of the four that
- 31:32Speaker 3: have made it? No, I don't know about Michigan, but Indiana,
- 31:37Speaker 3: Ohio State, or Georgia four years ago. I'm kind of
- 31:40Speaker 3: skipping over Michigan because I'm not sure. But any of
- 31:43Speaker 3: those three teams, I'm not sure. I'd be surprised. Maybe
- 31:46Speaker 3: with Indiana, and I probably shouldn't be surprised. I'm just
- 31:50Speaker 3: doing what we talk about. I'm thinking of them as
- 31:53Speaker 3: what they were prior to this new again model iteration
- 31:58Speaker 3: of what we're living right now in the world of
- 32:00Speaker 3: college football. So anyway, I like Georgia as my number one,
- 32:06Speaker 3: not Texas. Then there's a cluster of teams that are
- 32:10Speaker 3: dangerous that could win it and or be number one
- 32:14Speaker 3: in the next tier. And that's Bama Ole, Miss LSU
- 32:18Speaker 3: in Texas. Now we could have a team over Tennise.
- 32:22Speaker 3: You know, who knows. We could have a team in
- 32:25Speaker 3: the SEC. That's not part of my two groups right
- 32:30Speaker 3: there that jumps up in surprises, maybe Tennessee, Oklahoma or
- 32:35Speaker 3: A and M. I would think would be the only ones.
- 32:38Speaker 3: Possibly Florida with a first year coach with John summerw
- 32:42Speaker 3: but that's probably a tall task. I think he's going
- 32:45Speaker 3: to do a good job, but that's a lot. So
- 32:52Speaker 3: I think they'll beat people. They'll win, they'll win a
- 32:55Speaker 3: nice amount of games. They'll be a thorn in your side.
- 32:57Speaker 3: They'll be much better. But I don't know if they're
- 33:00Speaker 3: ready to be in that second group that any of
- 33:04Speaker 3: those could be in the could overtake Georgia. So I
- 33:08Speaker 3: got Georgia one and group two just kind of depending
- 33:12Speaker 3: on who wants to go get it. Bam Ole, Miss
- 33:17Speaker 3: LSU in Texas, so it's pretty easy. Yeah, And then
- 33:24Speaker 3: the next group is whatever the cluster Arkansas, Mississippi State,
- 33:30Speaker 3: South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky. You know, Da da da da,
- 33:35Speaker 3: that type deal. They may be the fourth group. Actually,
- 33:38Speaker 3: I guess the third group would be what I was
- 33:40Speaker 3: wrapped A and M Tennessee, Oklahoma, possibly Florida. Right, I'm
- 33:47Speaker 3: not I'm not buying Auburn in year one. So we'll
- 33:49Speaker 3: see what Golish does. What uh so Nicks and a
- 34:00Speaker 3: picture of somebody laying out. I guess it's his wife
- 34:04Speaker 3: or girlfriend. Cool man, they've been posted up on sandbar. Well,
- 34:08Speaker 3: they're on a sandbar. I'm all about it. I love
- 34:11Speaker 3: a boat and a sandbar and an ice ice cold
- 34:16Speaker 3: Michelo Bolter and some good music. So or if somebody's
- 34:19Speaker 3: got some you know, a blender on the back of
- 34:22Speaker 3: the boat, which is now like a standard. Yeah, okay,
- 34:26Speaker 3: let's do the audio. I want to do urban Meyer
- 34:30Speaker 3: coaching with fear before I go Kipp and go Steve Jobs.
- 34:35Speaker 3: So urban Meyer is a crazy man and he well
- 34:41Speaker 3: he's one of the best ever. He just he didn't
- 34:43Speaker 3: have the longevity because of health reasons, right, I mean
- 34:46Speaker 3: what he did at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida and Ohio
- 34:49Speaker 3: State is absolutely incredible. And by the way, whether you
- 34:52Speaker 3: love him or hatim, I know a lot of you
- 34:54Speaker 3: just like whatever you know I talked about all the time.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I love I love how we decide who we don't
- 34:59Speaker 3: like in sports or really anything in life, but sports. Sports,
- 35:04Speaker 3: Go sports. That's funny. My daughter has a sweatshirt. She's
- 35:08Speaker 3: not really a big sports fan, so she has a
- 35:09Speaker 3: sweatshirt that says, go sports. I just thought of that.
- 35:12Speaker 3: This is Urban Meyer talking about coaching with fear.
- 35:18Speaker 6: But it was nothing more than I wanted that person
- 35:21Speaker 6: to be great. Yeah, and I'm a psychology major, and
- 35:26Speaker 6: the strongest forms of motivation are love, fear and hate.
- 35:31Speaker 6: Only one sustainable, but fear and hate powerful motivator. Have
- 35:35Speaker 6: I use those? Oh? Hell yeah, I'm on play your scholarship.
- 35:39Speaker 6: You know you're too soft. You can't do this because
- 35:41Speaker 6: I would try to motivate that person for you know,
- 35:45Speaker 6: for some greatness, and is fear and hate a great motivator.
- 35:50Speaker 6: It's about as good as he gets. Yeah, but it's
- 35:52Speaker 6: not sustainable. Love is the only sustainable motivator.
- 35:57Speaker 5: I love that.
- 35:57Speaker 7: Ye, I was thinking, like that works in the football
- 36:00Speaker 7: yield and the gridiron. But how's that going to show
- 36:02Speaker 7: up a marriage? Like, how does that pull your scholarship?
- 36:05Speaker 7: You know if you're no, no, no, yeah, but no,
- 36:07Speaker 7: that's what are your children?
- 36:09Speaker 6: Yeah? Yeah, you got Why did I I really only
- 36:12Speaker 6: get one C. And it's not like I like school.
- 36:17Speaker 6: It was the fact that I was horrified on my father. Yeah,
- 36:20Speaker 6: so I had good grades, Yeah, not because I was
- 36:23Speaker 6: That was fear. That was fear driven. Was it helpful, Yeah, yeah,
- 36:29Speaker 6: because if I came home that a sea was okay,
- 36:31Speaker 6: I probably got another C. Yeah, maybe a couple of d's, yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 6: but that was not going to happen in our household.
- 36:39Speaker 7: Are you more motivated by love or fear these days?
- 36:43Speaker 6: Oh? It's uh, I think fear. I hate to say
- 36:45Speaker 6: that that. I wish I could control it, but there's
- 36:48Speaker 6: still a piece of me. But that drove me in
- 36:50Speaker 6: my career. Fear of failure, fear of letting people down.
- 36:53Speaker 6: It's probably why I had a shelf life. You know,
- 36:56Speaker 6: I knew fifty five years old, I'm done.
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:59Speaker 6: You know some coaches are coaching until there's seventy five
- 37:01Speaker 6: years old. I would never been able to do that.
- 37:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 6: Yeah, my body couldn't take it, but it.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Was all right. So that was urban Meyer talking about
- 37:12Speaker 3: coaching through and with fear. That was a very I
- 37:18Speaker 3: think some of y'all probably thought the same thing as
- 37:21Speaker 3: I did. You could be talking, you could be you
- 37:23Speaker 3: could close your eyes and think, am I listening to
- 37:29Speaker 3: a military general from World War Two? Right? Because the
- 37:34Speaker 3: military is set up it's it's fear driven. Right. If
- 37:38Speaker 3: you don't do your job, then somebody. Now I understand football,
- 37:42Speaker 3: not it's you know, but if you don't do your
- 37:44Speaker 3: job here through training and all the preparation, somebody could die, right,
- 37:49Speaker 3: all right, And so coaching football, basketball, and even I
- 37:54Speaker 3: mean other sports was taken through the military. Right, even
- 37:59Speaker 3: before World War One. I did not realize that that
- 38:02Speaker 3: he was horrified of his father, so he only made
- 38:06Speaker 3: I think one see he said in school, But I
- 38:11Speaker 3: thought that was pretty good. He's like, hell yeah, I
- 38:14Speaker 3: used fear, you know, he said it in there. You know,
- 38:19Speaker 3: I would threaten the Yank people's scholarships. A lot of
- 38:23Speaker 3: people are going to say, I can't believe that it's
- 38:26Speaker 3: been happening for decades. I mean that is what especially football,
- 38:31Speaker 3: but other sports were set up as coming out of
- 38:34Speaker 3: World War One, again military driven. The way that coaches were.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I mean some could some could understand the organizational structure.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Many could not, but they tried. And then coming out
- 38:45Speaker 3: of World War Two, we rebooted and did another you
- 38:48Speaker 3: know model of that. Now, let's go to Lane Jackson
- 38:53Speaker 3: and Kiffen. To me, when I listened to this, Lane
- 38:59Speaker 3: goes US Steve Jobs.
- 39:02Speaker 5: In my opinion, I believed in taking this that all
- 39:05Speaker 5: that was going to play into this building, this elite program.
- 39:10Speaker 5: You have the branding of LSU, you have the history
- 39:13Speaker 5: of LSU, you have the Tiger Stadium, most iconic place
- 39:17Speaker 5: to play college football, the Cathedral, and then you put
- 39:21Speaker 5: that with us, with our systems and I don't like
- 39:24Speaker 5: talk about myself whatever you call the Lane Kiffen factor,
- 39:27Speaker 5: and you bring that in as you allude to, and
- 39:28Speaker 5: you combine that, I think that all goes into that.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Now you have twelve players with Nike and Ile deals,
- 39:34Speaker 5: the first offensive lineman ever, no other schools above eight.
- 39:39Speaker 5: We didn't say like twelve eleven. We didn't say just
- 39:41Speaker 5: SEC schools. So that's a big reason why we're here.
- 39:48Speaker 5: When I said that first press conference, like it's just different.
- 39:50Speaker 5: We're going to make this thing different than anywhere else
- 39:53Speaker 5: to go. When you combine LSU and US and you're
- 39:57Speaker 5: seeing it. You know, just on stage, had that question
- 40:01Speaker 5: in the Vanity Fair and all that whatever, and as
- 40:03Speaker 5: I walked off and you know, I didn't really want
- 40:06Speaker 5: to say it, but you know, when you talk about
- 40:08Speaker 5: the changes of places. Somebody said it the other day,
- 40:11Speaker 5: they said like a month ago where they were like, well,
- 40:14Speaker 5: he's been here six months and he's had more five
- 40:17Speaker 5: star signees and commits than he did in the previous
- 40:20Speaker 5: six years combined. You know, that's kind of proof to
- 40:25Speaker 5: me of the decision and of the combination of the
- 40:28Speaker 5: two US and LSU.
- 40:33Speaker 3: All Right, shocker, Lane Kiffen going channeling his inner Steve Jobs. Okay,
- 40:41Speaker 3: so he walks you through again, LSU the brand, the
- 40:45Speaker 3: power behind it, and they are and I've said this,
- 40:49Speaker 3: some of you will have a different three. My three
- 40:51Speaker 3: are Ohio State, George, and LSU. Those are the programs
- 40:58Speaker 3: in America big time. Again. One is just who they are, right, commitment, Right,
- 41:09Speaker 3: This is a willpower thing. As a friend of mine says,
- 41:13Speaker 3: who's super successful, He goes, all these teams have enough
- 41:17Speaker 3: money to fund their NIL roster. It's just a matter
- 41:22Speaker 3: of the alumni groups that have the willpower. And they're
- 41:27Speaker 3: also set up in States Jackson where they're the only
- 41:31Speaker 3: game in town. Collegiately, LSU has the Saints and the Pelicans,
- 41:36Speaker 3: but come on. I mean, as far as college, it's
- 41:39Speaker 3: LSU Georgia. Yeah, there's some pro teams, but it's them
- 41:43Speaker 3: and Ohio State. We all know the drill. So that's
- 41:48Speaker 3: what jumped out at me. As far as Lane talking
- 41:53Speaker 3: about I love how he said the Lane Kiff. In fact,
- 41:56Speaker 3: people were going to get mad at that because he's
- 41:58Speaker 3: referenced by the way he's right, there is a Lane
- 42:03Speaker 3: Kiffin factor evident. Okay, there's no debate, and I understand
- 42:09Speaker 3: the pushback is, well, he hasn't won one, correct, but
- 42:15Speaker 3: he what he did at Old Miss is simply remarkable.
- 42:21Speaker 3: Is simply remarkable. And especially that last too. I mean
- 42:27Speaker 3: it just you know, I mean he was there and
- 42:31Speaker 3: he's went in. But then man, the last the last
- 42:34Speaker 3: three years and and especially the last two and to
- 42:38Speaker 3: go eleven and one last year is crazy, absolutely crazy.
- 42:45Speaker 3: So I thought that was good. I thought urban being
- 42:48Speaker 3: honest and authentic and talking about coaching with fear and
- 42:53Speaker 3: and and and some of you don't won't won't like it.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Some of you are sitting there nine in your head
