- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to bless this mess in the True
- 0:22Speaker 1: Crum podcast. I'm care here with Stu SA has to
- 0:24Speaker 1: do all right, we are back. We have been gone
- 0:27Speaker 1: for a month about so we did bake some empty
- 0:32Speaker 1: promises are not really some empty We were going to
- 0:36Speaker 1: try it, we did not realize. So if you're if
- 0:39Speaker 1: this the first time, you're listening to this all the
- 0:42Speaker 1: time about recording on vacation, No, if you're this first
- 0:46Speaker 1: time listening to this, you can skip ahead quite a
- 0:50Speaker 1: bit because we're gonna do a We're not going to
- 0:53Speaker 1: talk a whole bunch about the trip. We will do
- 0:55Speaker 1: it more on Shoot the Pooh because that's where we
- 0:57Speaker 1: ramble on and everything like that. Anyways, I have been
- 1:03Speaker 1: sharing our trip. Obviously I'm very behind because we are
- 1:06Speaker 1: home and I think the last date I posted on
- 1:09Speaker 1: You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, it's on
- 1:15Speaker 1: YouTube as well, all of those you can follow along.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I post True crime like show recommendations. I post our
- 1:25Speaker 1: dinners each night and like what I've been I like
- 1:27Speaker 1: to share that kind of stuff. And then I've been
- 1:30Speaker 1: posting our trip. I was recapping because like, oh, I'll
- 1:33Speaker 1: just record it each day like kind of what we did,
- 1:37Speaker 1: I mean, I don't do honestly, it was hard enough
- 1:39Speaker 1: to record the very little bit of stuff that I
- 1:41Speaker 1: did to remember. So anyways, I'm very far behind posting.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I'm only on like day eighteen, and we're obviously home,
- 1:47Speaker 1: and it was a twenty eight day trip, so I've
- 1:49Speaker 1: still got ten more days to post, and I will
- 1:51Speaker 1: edit those and post those. But we have made it
- 1:54Speaker 1: safely back home. So if you're wondering, So anyways, if
- 1:58Speaker 1: you're new here, we it's we have four children. They
- 2:03Speaker 1: are five and under, and so we decided to go
- 2:08Speaker 1: on a one month road trip, driving all the way
- 2:11Speaker 1: to Key West and then back to West Texas. Oh,
- 2:13Speaker 1: we have the other big update for him that we're
- 2:15Speaker 1: not moving.
- 2:16Speaker 2: To both now.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But a lot of shit's been happening, guys. Okay, I'll
- 2:20Speaker 1: keep I'll try to keep this brief because it is late.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We do have the kid's schedule has been completely off
- 2:26Speaker 1: because every night they stayed up so late just because
- 2:28Speaker 1: the sleeping situation was hard to get, Like, we had
- 2:31Speaker 1: to be completely ready for bed before they could go
- 2:33Speaker 1: to bed because obviously, like they'd be in even if
- 2:36Speaker 1: we had a two bedroom thing. They wouldn't lay down
- 2:38Speaker 1: in there, so then Stu would have to go lay
- 2:40Speaker 1: down with them. Well, he would have to be like
- 2:42Speaker 1: showered and ready for bed. I'd have to be done
- 2:44Speaker 1: like pumping and everything at that to get everybody calm down.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So they were going to bed at like ten eleven
- 2:50Speaker 1: o'clock at night, sometimes midnight like it was. It was
- 2:53Speaker 1: chaos like the va. Yes, yes, so we're trying to
- 2:55Speaker 1: get back in the room. Everybody's we're all exhausted though
- 2:58Speaker 1: we've only been home like two days, and we are
- 3:01Speaker 1: physically exhausted from it. We were doing good until the
- 3:04Speaker 1: trip back. I think it just took it out of
- 3:06Speaker 1: us because every night we were switching places to get
- 3:08Speaker 1: back as opposed to going. We were stopping for four
- 3:12Speaker 1: or five days at a time some places, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and going so anyway, So we have made it back safely.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I only broke down and cried one time on the trip,
- 3:20Speaker 1: and I thought I was no. I threatened a cry
- 3:25Speaker 1: like we're not. I'm not pretending like traveling with small
- 3:27Speaker 1: children is easy, guys. I'm I mean, I'm not going
- 3:30Speaker 1: to put me screaming at the children on the TikTok
- 3:32Speaker 1: or anything like that. That's just like cause obviously if
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'm I'm not one to pull out my camera and
- 3:37Speaker 1: be like, hey, let's record me. One, I don't show
- 3:40Speaker 1: the children on the I don't show them on there,
- 3:43Speaker 1: So it's just kind of our day or whatever we
- 3:45Speaker 1: were traveling, but I'm not going to pull out I
- 3:48Speaker 1: always wonder what people are thinking whenever I see a
- 3:50Speaker 1: video and it's like them like getting after their kid
- 3:53Speaker 1: or their kid crying and the record. I'm like, why
- 3:55Speaker 1: are you pulling out your phone and recording when your
- 3:57Speaker 1: kids having a tantrum or a meltdown. I Mean, it's
- 4:00Speaker 1: just like bizarre to me.
- 4:01Speaker 2: So, yes, it is Day has a wife or her
- 4:06Speaker 2: her spouse or whatever it is going to see that
- 4:08Speaker 2: on the internet and be like, oh, there you are.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Anyways, I can't hardly hear you.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Oh I don't know what's happening.
- 4:14Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on anyways, So maybe they
- 4:17Speaker 1: can hear you fun, but it looks like we can't
- 4:18Speaker 1: hear you. So anyways, I'm not going to pretend that
- 4:22Speaker 1: it was easy traveling all the show, and there was
- 4:24Speaker 1: there was a many a day. I'm like, what the
- 4:26Speaker 1: fuck were we thinking like this was terrible. But then
- 4:28Speaker 1: then now I look back, I'm like, well, I'm glad
- 4:30Speaker 1: we did even though we were home. The first I
- 4:32Speaker 1: was like, what were we thinking doing that? That was
- 4:34Speaker 1: crazy or whatever. But now that we've been home a
- 4:35Speaker 1: couple of days, I'm like, oh, it's probably a good
- 4:37Speaker 1: thing we do that because we do basically it's the
- 4:39Speaker 1: same shit we do here, like the kids not listening
- 4:41Speaker 1: to us as yelling and pick up their stuff to
- 4:44Speaker 1: eat their dinner, to go do this, to go do this,
- 4:46Speaker 1: but we got to do it in like a tropical location.
- 4:49Speaker 2: So son saying, fun, Yes.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So we had we saw a lot of stuff. We
- 4:55Speaker 1: did a lot of things. Key West is very expensive,
- 4:58Speaker 1: so probably won't go back ever. I'm just saying there's
- 5:03Speaker 1: other place that could spend my money at that's not
- 5:06Speaker 1: key West. Key West is extremely expensive.
- 5:08Speaker 2: To me and Nickel and Dimia for everything.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Yes, parking minimum you go down there, the minimum amount
- 5:15Speaker 1: that you have to pay is seventeen dollars and that'll
- 5:17Speaker 1: get you zero to two hours. So anyways, there was
- 5:21Speaker 1: like sometime.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Like what is it forty dollars for the day or
- 5:24Speaker 2: something like that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, See, now I can hear you. You're too far.
- 5:27Speaker 1: You need to angle your microphone.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Okay, Well, because it's been in the box and when
- 5:33Speaker 2: it you supposedly did a sound check before.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I did, and I don't know what happened. You did
- 5:37Speaker 1: something and runed it or whatever. I don't know how
- 5:39Speaker 1: you messed it up.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I did nothing.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's because if you angle your face wrong, it it
- 5:43Speaker 1: does wrong.
- 5:45Speaker 2: I'm not going to say it. Pretend that traveling with
- 5:47Speaker 2: care for a month was easy.
- 5:51Speaker 1: No, Anyways, I only cried. I only broke down and
- 5:53Speaker 1: cried one time, and it was the last. Okay. Cape
- 5:56Speaker 1: Canaveral was our favorite stop, I would say, would you
- 5:59Speaker 1: it was basically because of the I'd say the location
- 6:03Speaker 1: where we stayed. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Vacation Club,
- 6:08Speaker 1: which sounds super fancy, but it was so it was
- 6:12Speaker 1: like one eighty three at night on average or something,
- 6:14Speaker 1: which was crazy at that time, which was crazy because
- 6:18Speaker 1: it was so nice, like it had everything that you
- 6:22Speaker 1: could pop, pull, splash pads, everything at beach access everything. Anyways,
- 6:27Speaker 1: Cape Canaval was my favor. I would go back to
- 6:29Speaker 1: that one. The Key West one I would not go
- 6:31Speaker 1: back to because it was too expensive and more adult. Yeah,
- 6:36Speaker 1: but it just like I don't know anyways. And then
- 6:39Speaker 1: the Annamary Island was real pretty and everything like that.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Also very expensive. Also just a lot of like it's
- 6:46Speaker 1: just more ways to spend your money. Like the Cape Canaval,
- 6:49Speaker 1: you could you could stay at the hotel and you
- 6:51Speaker 1: could do stuff that was included. The other ones you
- 6:54Speaker 1: had to pay extra money to go out in the
- 6:56Speaker 1: world and do things, and a lot of it was
- 6:58Speaker 1: like shopping or something like that, you know, parking again,
- 7:01Speaker 1: very pretty views. Yes, we rented a golf cart. That
- 7:04Speaker 1: was one of our things that we sprung for at
- 7:07Speaker 1: renting the golf cart and Anna Marie Island, and it
- 7:09Speaker 1: was a lot of fun that we did enjoy. I
- 7:11Speaker 1: did enjoy riding on the golf cart. That was fun
- 7:13Speaker 1: because we could we put the car seats in the
- 7:15Speaker 1: golf cart and then the streets are real low speed,
- 7:18Speaker 1: so you could go. And I felt somewhat until the
- 7:21Speaker 1: last day and I was like, maybe we shouldn't have,
- 7:23Speaker 1: but there was other kids riding around in golf carts,
- 7:26Speaker 1: some of them without car seats, so we did have
- 7:28Speaker 1: them all in car seats. But judges, if you would
- 7:31Speaker 1: if you must anyway, so we did have a good time. Yes,
- 7:36Speaker 1: if you want to know what I cried about. All
- 7:38Speaker 1: I wanted to do was the last night, and the
- 7:41Speaker 1: kids just were like, on a level, all I wanted
- 7:44Speaker 1: to do. We had we booked an extra night in
- 7:46Speaker 1: Cape Canaveral, and in hindsight it might have been a
- 7:48Speaker 1: mistake because we had to I don't think it was
- 7:51Speaker 1: a completely terrible ideal. Okay, we had to switch rooms
- 7:56Speaker 1: because they said that they claimed they ran out of
- 7:59Speaker 1: a room. We had a one bedroom that we were
- 8:02Speaker 1: staying and they claimed they only had the two bedroom
- 8:05Speaker 1: beach front ones the last for the extra night we
- 8:08Speaker 1: want staying. We're like, okay, well we'll just move across
- 8:10Speaker 1: or whatever. And we basically got the full day because
- 8:13Speaker 1: they let us check out at noon and they let
- 8:15Speaker 1: us check into the room super early. But we did
- 8:17Speaker 1: have to haul everything across the hotel or whatever, and
- 8:23Speaker 1: so all I want to do. So we were at
- 8:24Speaker 1: the beach, I'm like, okay, we never put the baby's
- 8:26Speaker 1: feet in the ocean. At the Annamary Island and Key
- 8:29Speaker 1: West that did have beaches, people say they don't have beaches.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They did have beaches. But I guess it's not known
- 8:34Speaker 1: for their beaches. So we never put the baby's feet
- 8:37Speaker 1: in the Animary Island, and so I was like, I
- 8:39Speaker 1: just want to take a picture on the beach with
- 8:42Speaker 1: the baby. I want to put his feet in the
- 8:43Speaker 1: ocean so we can be like this he's you know,
- 8:45Speaker 1: made it into the ocean or whatever. And these children
- 8:47Speaker 1: were on a level and I just was like I
- 8:50Speaker 1: just broke down. I was like it did shock them
- 8:55Speaker 1: though they were like, oh wow, we've really done it
- 8:58Speaker 1: this time. It did shock the five year old. She's
- 9:02Speaker 1: just like looking like, oh God, we've broke mommy. Yes,
- 9:09Speaker 1: she's normally it's Stew's fault. So why are you looking
- 9:12Speaker 1: at your phone?
- 9:13Speaker 2: Because it gave me a notification.
- 9:15Speaker 1: We also ran out of cell service. There are not
- 9:18Speaker 1: sweet ran out of cell data. I guess like when
- 9:21Speaker 1: you're using maps and not hooked to the Wi Fi.
- 9:24Speaker 1: For a whole month, we used all of our cellular
- 9:26Speaker 1: data plus the rollover.
- 9:28Speaker 2: So we had four or five gigs.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So the last couple of days we had to actually
- 9:34Speaker 1: turn our cell date off because every like every hour
- 9:37Speaker 1: it was charging us fifteen dollars for a gigabyte of date.
- 9:40Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my.
- 9:42Speaker 1: So the first time it charges, were like, oh, okay, it's fine.
- 9:45Speaker 1: You know, we pay for one or two extra these gigabytes,
- 9:47Speaker 1: it'll be fine. But then the next one came in,
- 9:50Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, we need to watch this one because
- 9:51Speaker 1: this is kind of fast. Well, then the next one
- 9:53Speaker 1: came in. It was only two hours later, and I'm like, well,
- 9:55Speaker 1: I was like, is that a third one? So then
- 9:57Speaker 1: that point we turned our cell date off so we
- 9:58Speaker 1: would just be able to to like turn it on,
- 10:00Speaker 1: get the map, and then turn it off, and so
- 10:02Speaker 1: the load to take us to our next destination.
- 10:06Speaker 2: So somebody was probably watching TikTok the whole time.
- 10:08Speaker 1: No, I think it was my googling on the maps.
- 10:11Speaker 1: I was using Google Maps to try to plan out,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and I was just like obsessively like, okay, where should
- 10:17Speaker 1: we stop because it's like I always needed to have
- 10:19Speaker 1: someplace to stop in case the baby, like if the
- 10:22Speaker 1: baby cried. It all, like our role was if the
- 10:24Speaker 1: baby was upset, we were pulling over. Like the baby
- 10:28Speaker 1: was priority. So if he even if we had just stopped,
- 10:32Speaker 1: if he was there was plenty of times we were
- 10:33Speaker 1: driving we would have just stopped and then we thought
- 10:35Speaker 1: he was all happy and everything like that. We put
- 10:37Speaker 1: him back in his car seat. He fall asleep. Ten
- 10:39Speaker 1: minutes later he's crying again, so we would have to
- 10:41Speaker 1: pull over again. So anyways, it was just like always
- 10:45Speaker 1: needed to know where we're going to stop, what's coming
- 10:47Speaker 1: up everything. So anyways, I did break down that last night. However,
- 10:52Speaker 1: we why are you making your face like that?
- 10:55Speaker 2: What is that I'm looking at the thing over there?
- 10:58Speaker 2: Why because I got a check thing?
- 11:00Speaker 1: Okay, anyways, why are.
- 11:02Speaker 2: You harassing me? This is like my entire month already.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Anyway, so we ended up. I pulled it together there.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I'm an adult, I need to stop crying.
- 11:16Speaker 1: We pulled it together. We went out and we took
- 11:18Speaker 1: pictures on the beach. So that it is that. I
- 11:24Speaker 1: did post a couple of pictures in the Patreon for everybody,
- 11:26Speaker 1: like our family photos and stuff. I don't really post
- 11:29Speaker 1: the pictures of the children on the full because it's
- 11:35Speaker 1: at this point now between all of them, I have
- 11:37Speaker 1: about we have about thirty five thousand, no thirty five
- 11:43Speaker 1: thousand people that follow follow us between all the things,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and so it's like that's not that many in the
- 11:50Speaker 1: grand scheme things. But I'm just saying, if you think
- 11:52Speaker 1: about that many people standing in a room looking at
- 11:55Speaker 1: your children. That plus you're just open to the Internet,
- 11:58Speaker 1: and sometimes some of those videos will get like, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: hundreds of you know, not hundreds, tens of thousands, tens
- 12:06Speaker 1: of years. So you don't really want to put your
- 12:09Speaker 1: children's faces out there on the internet. But if you pay,
- 12:12Speaker 1: we will show you. Wow. I'm kidding kind of anyway.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So that's what happened. So we had a good time.
- 12:22Speaker 1: We went I'll just do a quick rundown of the
- 12:25Speaker 1: place we stay. So we started uh In at home
- 12:29Speaker 1: and we went to Georgetown to visit Stu's parents, and
- 12:32Speaker 1: then we went to Lafayette was the next step to
- 12:35Speaker 1: visit Stu's other set of parents, and then we drove
- 12:39Speaker 1: to Pensacola because we needed someplace to stop. Stu wanted
- 12:42Speaker 1: to see the Blue Angels, so we stayed a place
- 12:44Speaker 1: where we could see them fly over. And then after Pensacola,
- 12:47Speaker 1: for a couple of days, we drove to Anna Marie Island.
- 12:50Speaker 1: That was one of our big travel days. I got
- 12:52Speaker 1: all the way Anory Island, stayed there for a couple days,
- 12:54Speaker 1: then we went to Homestead, Florida. We stayed there. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: did like Homestead. Yes, was like, oh, it's sketchy there.
- 13:01Speaker 1: I'm like it was, I mean it was a little skey.
- 13:03Speaker 1: There was also a wildfire and so the whole place
- 13:05Speaker 1: smelt like like we were on fire. So we smell
- 13:10Speaker 1: like we were at a bonfire in our entire room.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I was at first, he was like, Oh, it's just
- 13:15Speaker 1: they're burning something out there. I thought it was like
- 13:17Speaker 1: a controlled burn, and then I it was still smelling
- 13:19Speaker 1: that way the next morning. I'm like, man, this is weird.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And so I looked it up and it was an
- 13:22Speaker 1: actual wildfire. We like stopped in the Everglades things like that,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and then we went to that castle or whatever that
- 13:32Speaker 1: That was a very pretty castle and I did enjoy
- 13:34Speaker 1: seeing it because it was real pretty. But that was
- 13:35Speaker 1: a nightmare because like you couldn't touch And we've taken
- 13:38Speaker 1: the kids to Europe, like we've taken them to museums
- 13:41Speaker 1: like really old places. This place was only like one
- 13:44Speaker 1: hundred years old. They would not let you touch anything,
- 13:47Speaker 1: like nothing the walls or nothing. No, there was like
- 13:51Speaker 1: like literally you couldn't touch anything in there. They would Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: they would stand there and they had secure they would
- 13:56Speaker 1: just like everywhere they were on you to not touch anything.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And yes, I'm understanding, like they the kids understand not
- 14:02Speaker 1: to touch things that are in like a but we've
- 14:05Speaker 1: been to Europe. There's like thousands of years old like
- 14:08Speaker 1: statues of lions and stuff, and you people are crawling
- 14:11Speaker 1: all up on them and stuff like that, like they
- 14:13Speaker 1: you can. They had some light. The one thing that
- 14:15Speaker 1: we got they got in trouble with because they did
- 14:16Speaker 1: have some little small statues of lions sitting there, but
- 14:20Speaker 1: there was anything roped around it, and they like so
- 14:21Speaker 1: the kids went and like touch the lion or whatever,
- 14:23Speaker 1: and they like freaked out there, oh god, don't touch
- 14:25Speaker 1: the lot to it was a stone line. It was
- 14:27Speaker 1: like one hundred years old. It's like calm down, okay,
- 14:30Speaker 1: but uh, every it wasn't real clear as to what.
- 14:33Speaker 1: You just couldn't touch anything, like literally you couldn't touch anything.
- 14:36Speaker 1: So there was nothing. There was a couple seats that
- 14:39Speaker 1: were roped off, but everything else you weren't allowed to touch.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But it wasn't a clear boundary, I would say. So
- 14:45Speaker 1: it was a lot because and then then oh then
- 14:47Speaker 1: there they wouldn't. It was so annoying because they act
- 14:50Speaker 1: like they had a bunch of stuff sitting around. They
- 14:52Speaker 1: wouldn't let step step come brings in the diaper bag
- 14:54Speaker 1: and they make it put make him put it on
- 14:56Speaker 1: his front. I guess so he won't turn turn and
- 14:59Speaker 1: knock into something. It's like, what are we doing? People
- 15:01Speaker 1: like they really did act like they I mean, we've
- 15:05Speaker 1: been to Versailles for God's sake with the children.
- 15:07Speaker 2: It's not that.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It's not that serious, folks, but they were that Viskaya museum.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Well, we also found out at Versailla how to when
- 15:18Speaker 2: you get to the end of the thing, how you
- 15:20Speaker 2: can start again and go through the thing. What when
- 15:24Speaker 2: you get to when you walk through Versailles all the
- 15:26Speaker 2: way to the end, and it's like, I'd like to
- 15:29Speaker 2: go through again because these children are acting up and
- 15:32Speaker 2: get back to that spot after I calm down, you
- 15:35Speaker 2: take that one elevator and.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Then okay, nobody literally no one cares, No one is.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Well, we had to because the one boy he was
- 15:42Speaker 2: breaking out and then Versailla and we had to.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, he did have a meltdown. That was a
- 15:48Speaker 1: rough day. The Versaill thing anyways, no one cares about
- 15:51Speaker 1: the secret pass his way in Versailles all anyway, So
- 15:55Speaker 1: this Viscaya place, it was very pretty, but they were
- 15:59Speaker 1: and it's hot in Florida. It was real hot down
- 16:02Speaker 1: in the Everglades, real hot folks. And we're used to humidity,
- 16:05Speaker 1: although we've gotten soft.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Living up here.
- 16:09Speaker 1: So anyway, so we did homestead. Then we drove down
- 16:11Speaker 1: to Key West, and from Key West we went to
- 16:13Speaker 1: Cape Canaveral. Cape Canaveral, we went to Tallahassee, which brings
- 16:17Speaker 1: us to today's episode I'm gonna tell you about. And
- 16:20Speaker 1: then Tallahassee to Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
- 16:24Speaker 2: M hm, yes, yeah, no outside of Hattiesburg.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Did we make it to Hattiesburg? I mean, did we
- 16:31Speaker 1: drove from Tallahassee to Hattiesburger Yeah, the goat shed.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:34Speaker 1: We stayed in this place with these Oh that was
- 16:36Speaker 1: real fun for the kids. I found this like I
- 16:38Speaker 1: found a unique experience in Hattiesburg. So we had to
- 16:41Speaker 1: make it there because they had goats and so you
- 16:43Speaker 1: stayed there and you could feed the goats or whatever.
- 16:45Speaker 1: So we stayed there Hattiesburg, and then from Hattiesburg we
- 16:48Speaker 1: went to Marshall Marshall, Texas. And then from Marshall, Texas,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm back on the Airbnb train though, like residents in
- 16:57Speaker 1: all the ones we stayed at were like dirty and gross,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and I'm back to Airbnb's but I'm back to Airbnbs
- 17:03Speaker 1: in the country. That's where I'm at now. They have
- 17:06Speaker 1: to be in the country. All the ones we stayed
- 17:07Speaker 1: at were off the grid. Oh the Popeyes ran out
- 17:10Speaker 1: of chicken. That was a whole ordeal. Anyways, from Marshall,
- 17:14Speaker 1: Texas and then from Marshall, we made it all the way.
- 17:16Speaker 1: We were like, we can do this, we can make
- 17:18Speaker 1: it home. And so we made it home from there.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So that was ours. We'll talk about it more because
- 17:22Speaker 1: I have to think about it. I'm have to look
- 17:24Speaker 1: when we do the shoot the Pooh about everything because.
- 17:26Speaker 2: There was a lot.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm have to look at the pictures and like
- 17:29Speaker 1: go through the pier like, oh, yeah, this is that thing.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So anyways, we did have a good time. And then
- 17:36Speaker 1: bringing us to just a quick update, we are not
- 17:39Speaker 1: moving to Beaumont. I think we told you guys last
- 17:42Speaker 1: time they told us we were moving to Beaumont. I
- 17:44Speaker 1: got to call. Something happen with that position they were
- 17:48Speaker 1: sending me to and it wasn't a good my current
- 17:52Speaker 1: I had told my current boss, I said, make sure
- 17:55Speaker 1: not send me in a bad situation or whatever. And
- 17:58Speaker 1: so he was on vacation whenever this all went down,
- 18:01Speaker 1: like me getting this role in Beaumont. And so when
- 18:04Speaker 1: he came back, I guess he was not He did
- 18:08Speaker 1: not want to, Yes, he did not want to send
- 18:11Speaker 1: me into whatever was happening there. So now we are
- 18:14Speaker 1: still moving guys, though I fear not we did not
- 18:16Speaker 1: know there for a little bit if we were. We
- 18:19Speaker 1: are moving to the Houston area now, so that's where
- 18:21Speaker 1: we'll be, and so we're still on the path. We
- 18:24Speaker 1: will be moving over the summer. We got to go
- 18:26Speaker 1: house honey and all that stuff, but that is what
- 18:29Speaker 1: we'll be doing.
- 18:32Speaker 2: With our time.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Yes, so I've given up on this house. It's just
- 18:35Speaker 1: not going to be cleaner organized, and we'll just move
- 18:38Speaker 1: it all and I'll try again to the next house
- 18:40Speaker 1: do it. Yeah, So that's whe're at. But so this
- 18:44Speaker 1: brings me to the today's episode. So if you're I'll
- 18:49Speaker 1: find out when this starts and all put it in
- 18:51Speaker 1: the show notes that you can skip forward or whatever,
- 18:54Speaker 1: which me telling you right now, is it going to
- 18:56Speaker 1: do you any good? But so this week we're going
- 18:58Speaker 1: to Florida. And the reason we're going to Florida's because
- 19:01Speaker 1: we just went to Florida. And the reason and the
- 19:03Speaker 1: reason I fixated on this one now is because, like
- 19:05Speaker 1: I said, we went to Tallahassee. Now, does everybody know
- 19:08Speaker 1: this pop quiz? Everybody know what happened in Tallahassee. That
- 19:12Speaker 1: is one of the most famous.
- 19:13Speaker 2: That's where they built that auto crimes.
- 19:16Speaker 1: In history, and that would be the you know, I
- 19:20Speaker 1: always called it chai Omega, but it's pronounced kai ki. No,
- 19:27Speaker 1: I was not. I did not pledge, Stu pledge. No,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you didn't even make it to college.
- 19:32Speaker 2: So I went to the USMC.
- 19:36Speaker 1: Okay, anyways, the chai Omega murders from ted one Ted Bundy.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So in Tallahassee. I did make stew and the children drive.
- 19:50Speaker 1: So we left Tallahassee that morning. We were on the
- 19:52Speaker 1: north side of Tallahassee. I was like, man, I'd really
- 19:55Speaker 1: like to drive by the house where the murders have been,
- 19:58Speaker 1: the sorority house, And so we did go a little
- 20:02Speaker 1: bit out of our way and we drove back down
- 20:04Speaker 1: and then they dropped me off on the.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Corner and common street walker.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I look like, I look like a total creeper.
- 20:12Speaker 2: They look like a total street walker too. The way
- 20:14Speaker 2: you were dressed. What not? Not a high class street walker?
- 20:17Speaker 1: What are you talking about? What was I even wearing?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Not like shorts and a T shirt or something.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Oh so that's okay. Whatever. Anyways, No, I looked like
- 20:26Speaker 1: a creeper, is what happened. So we're in the where
- 20:28Speaker 1: they dropped me off on the corner and and he's like,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna circle around and come back.
- 20:33Speaker 2: To the roundabout and came back.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Yes. And so I'm standing out there and across the
- 20:37Speaker 1: street from the school. So if you if you don't
- 20:39Speaker 1: know the Ted Bundy escaped. So he killed all these
- 20:42Speaker 1: these women and then he escaped prison in Colorado and
- 20:45Speaker 1: he went down to Tallahassee and he he attacked these
- 20:49Speaker 1: girls in the sorority house. So I found out the
- 20:51Speaker 1: a sorority house still still there, and I thought it
- 20:53Speaker 1: had been torn down and they had rebuilt it. However,
- 20:56Speaker 1: that was not accurate information. They actually that the house
- 21:00Speaker 1: is still was the same house. They just changed the
- 21:05Speaker 1: the like put columns and changed the coloring and changed
- 21:08Speaker 1: the facade out at the on the front steo. So anyway,
- 21:13Speaker 1: so they dropped me off and across the street was
- 21:14Speaker 1: like a like a covering, like a brick covering or whatever.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And so I'm just over there like hiding behind the
- 21:19Speaker 1: brick columns, like taking so unsowy and so you know,
- 21:25Speaker 1: I am who I am. I can't help it. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: had to. I mean, they're doing them. We're lucky, that's
- 21:29Speaker 1: all I wanted. I was going to go see because
- 21:31Speaker 1: I had a whole list of like places we could
- 21:34Speaker 1: have gone, like because he attacked someone on the down
- 21:37Speaker 1: the street. So anyway, so I was went and saw
- 21:40Speaker 1: the house and took pictures and video and then I
- 21:44Speaker 1: was I was like, oh, you know what, I don't
- 21:46Speaker 1: even remember what all. I mean, i'd heard the story
- 21:49Speaker 1: of what happened there, but I hadn't it's been such
- 21:51Speaker 1: a long time. So I thought, oh, that'll be perfect.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We can do just a short episode. So we're not
- 21:55Speaker 1: going to cover all of Ted Bundy's crimes up in
- 21:59Speaker 1: Washington State, Colorado, because man, it's a it would take
- 22:02Speaker 1: you a long time. It's it's a lot. So we're
- 22:05Speaker 1: just gonna talk about the Florida, the Tallahassee, the Kyle
- 22:09Speaker 1: Mega murders, and then him getting caught that last time,
- 22:13Speaker 1: that last little bit. So anyway, so this week we
- 22:15Speaker 1: are going.
- 22:16Speaker 2: To Florida's do that's what we're going to be again.
- 22:19Speaker 1: Yes, and then again check out our Patreon. We appreciate
- 22:25Speaker 1: everybody who's hanging in there. We do the Shoot the
- 22:27Speaker 1: Pooh each week, so we'll try to get one of
- 22:29Speaker 1: those recorded tomorrow and kind of recap. If it's not tomorrow,
- 22:33Speaker 1: it'll be this weekend. We'll recap our travels mainly and
- 22:37Speaker 1: talk about our new move to the Houston area. So
- 22:43Speaker 1: and then we have, like I said, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok
- 22:47Speaker 1: and I'm just killing time right now. Why I pull
- 22:50Speaker 1: up his things? Do you could say something.
- 22:53Speaker 2: I don't know what you were doing?
- 22:57Speaker 1: Well, you would think that after all these years, you
- 22:59Speaker 1: could just know.
- 23:00Speaker 2: That you're going to ramble on and then just rely
- 23:03Speaker 2: on me to do something. Yes, No, that's not how
- 23:06Speaker 2: this works, all right.
- 23:07Speaker 1: So for this for this episode, I watched a episode
- 23:10Speaker 1: of forty Hours Mystery on YouTube, specifically about some of
- 23:14Speaker 1: the survivors from the Kyomega attack, and then just some
- 23:19Speaker 1: random Internet googling bactoids. Yes, all right. So on Saturday,
- 23:25Speaker 1: January fourteenth, nineteen seventy eight, in Tallahassee, Florida. I never
- 23:28Speaker 1: realized how pretty Tallahassee was though, until we because we
- 23:31Speaker 1: kind of were just on the highway iten area. But
- 23:35Speaker 1: when we drove into it down the univer It's got
- 23:36Speaker 1: all those old moss trees and everything that roll. Pretty.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So in Tallahassee, Florida, Kathy Kleiner arrived back at the
- 23:43Speaker 1: Kyomega sorority house. Now in the house, there were other
- 23:46Speaker 1: sorority sisters that were already home. Everyone was having a
- 23:50Speaker 1: good time at Saturday night. They're just talking about their
- 23:52Speaker 1: plans for the weekend. Like she said, they were talking
- 23:54Speaker 1: about who they're dating, the other, the fraternities, blah blahlah,
- 23:58Speaker 1: the stuff that young collegels will be chit chatting out.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Just a regular Saturday night. Nothing seemed off. Now, Kathy
- 24:05Speaker 1: had a test on Monday, so she decided to go
- 24:07Speaker 1: up to her room that she shared with her sorority sister,
- 24:10Speaker 1: Karen Chandler. Now Karen also had like a project she
- 24:14Speaker 1: needed to work on. It was a sewing project, so
- 24:16Speaker 1: they decided to just stay in that night and just
- 24:20Speaker 1: hang out in the room and work on their individual
- 24:24Speaker 1: things that they had going on. Now, just before midnight
- 24:27Speaker 1: that night, they both decide to They're both tired and
- 24:29Speaker 1: decide to go to bed. Now. Out of a dead sleep,
- 24:32Speaker 1: Kathy is awoken when a door slams open. She looks
- 24:36Speaker 1: up and sees them. This is like every woman's worst fear.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Let me tell you, it's just sleeping in the middle light.
- 24:43Speaker 1: This is also crazy because you probably have another You
- 24:45Speaker 1: probably have a real sense of security being in at
- 24:47Speaker 1: home with like thirty to forty other people would no,
- 24:53Speaker 1: you would never expect. This is the stuff you fear
- 24:56Speaker 1: happens when you live alone, or something like that. So
- 24:59Speaker 1: she looks up. She sees the man and he is
- 25:02Speaker 1: holding something. She said it looked like a pipe or
- 25:04Speaker 1: a stick or something. And he walks over and he
- 25:06Speaker 1: hits her in the face. Now, that's what she says,
- 25:09Speaker 1: But whenever we find out what happened, it was not
- 25:12Speaker 1: just she just remembers him hitting her one time, but
- 25:15Speaker 1: that's it was way worse than that. So she described
- 25:19Speaker 1: it as like somebody hitting her with like a bunch
- 25:21Speaker 1: of pins or needles sticking into her. Now she's lying
- 25:25Speaker 1: there stunned. She sees him walk over to her room
- 25:28Speaker 1: at Karen and do the same to her. Now she
- 25:31Speaker 1: turns to look at him. He notices that she is moving,
- 25:34Speaker 1: so he goes back and raises the object to hit
- 25:36Speaker 1: her again. However, right, she remembers. Right, whenever he was
- 25:40Speaker 1: about to hit her again, there's lights come in through
- 25:43Speaker 1: the window and it startles him and he runs off.
- 25:46Speaker 1: And those were actually lights from a car where another
- 25:49Speaker 1: sorority sister who had arrived home really late in the evening.
- 25:53Speaker 1: So thankfully she showed up or they would have both
- 25:56Speaker 1: been killed as well. So just to go over the
- 25:59Speaker 1: injuries for Kathy, Kathy Kleiner, she had a shattered jaw
- 26:03Speaker 1: in three places that required extensive surgery, and her jaw
- 26:08Speaker 1: was wired shut for nine weeks. However that you also
- 26:12Speaker 1: find out from her that it was it was a
- 26:16Speaker 1: wired shut for nine weeks, and then she went back home,
- 26:20Speaker 1: you know, to recover with utter parents, and she had
- 26:22Speaker 1: to have more surgeries, and that it didn't set right
- 26:25Speaker 1: whenever they first wired it, so they had to rebreak
- 26:27Speaker 1: it and she had to have it wired for nine
- 26:30Speaker 1: more weeks like it was it was bad. So she
- 26:34Speaker 1: had lacerations on her right cheek, which was torn open,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and she almost bit her tongue in half from being hit.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Oh.
- 26:43Speaker 1: She also said her jaw like it was broken so bad.
- 26:45Speaker 1: It was actually just hanging off to the side, like
- 26:48Speaker 1: that's how bad it was. So like when she says
- 26:51Speaker 1: she remembers being hit one time, that's what she remembers.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's not it was. It was really really bad. How
- 26:56Speaker 1: many times he hit her. Now her teeth, she had
- 27:00Speaker 1: several teeth that were broken. Karen had similar injuries. She
- 27:05Speaker 1: suffered at least one skull fracture, broken cheekbones, and a
- 27:09Speaker 1: fractured orbit in her right eye. For on her jaw
- 27:12Speaker 1: and face, she had she her jaw was broken. Her
- 27:17Speaker 1: jaw and skull were broken in around five places. They
- 27:19Speaker 1: believe she lost four teeth.
- 27:22Speaker 2: She had a.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Dislocated shoulder, and she had one of her hands had
- 27:28Speaker 1: been crushed. And then she had all these, you know,
- 27:32Speaker 1: just all these abrasions, lacerations all over her head. Everything.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So again, like they said, they they didn't remember. They
- 27:40Speaker 1: had been beaten so bad. They it took them a
- 27:42Speaker 1: long time to remember. Just those few things that they
- 27:45Speaker 1: do remember. Now like today, because it was just it
- 27:49Speaker 1: was so much. So the two girls, they wake up
- 27:53Speaker 1: in the hospital with all these injuries, they really, like
- 27:56Speaker 1: I said, had they had no clue what had happened
- 27:58Speaker 1: to them at all, their family.
- 28:00Speaker 2: And somebody's hitting you in the face.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'm saying, in the hospital they wake up,
- 28:04Speaker 1: they had no idea how they got there, how they
- 28:07Speaker 1: got these injuries. I mean, she just woke up in
- 28:09Speaker 1: her jaws like wired shut. I mean, that's pretty shocking.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I am reading because we went to Tallahassee and it's
- 28:16Speaker 1: woken my interest in the Ted Bundy stuff again. I'm reading.
- 28:22Speaker 1: There's a book called Bright Young Women by Jessica Knowls.
- 28:25Speaker 1: I'm reading it and it's like a fictional retelling of
- 28:29Speaker 1: the Ted Bundy story anyway, So I'm trying not to
- 28:33Speaker 1: get the things mixed up with what she says and
- 28:36Speaker 1: what actually happened. So because she bases she bases it
- 28:40Speaker 1: around like all of this, like what these these women
- 28:43Speaker 1: have said they went through. I was telling Stu, I
- 28:47Speaker 1: know this is really.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Fucked up.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Okay, I'm probably gonna get canceled. But to survive a
- 28:57Speaker 1: Ted Bundy attack, though, you know, like whenever, So like
- 29:01Speaker 1: at work, they'll be like, oh, we need a story, Like,
- 29:04Speaker 1: what's a crazy story that you have? And like, I
- 29:06Speaker 1: always use my one where I caught the arm dropper.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You know, that's like like a one. Can you even
- 29:12Speaker 1: be like, oh, yeah, I survived the Ted. I mean
- 29:16Speaker 1: it was terrible of what happened to him, but to
- 29:18Speaker 1: be able to survive it and have that like.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Ted Bundy attacked me and my sorority dorm.
- 29:24Speaker 1: Yes, that's crazy. So anyways, so they wake up, their
- 29:28Speaker 1: family has to explain, and then they also have to
- 29:30Speaker 1: let them know that two of their sority sisters who
- 29:32Speaker 1: were just down the hall actually were murdered that evening.
- 29:35Speaker 1: So this was Margaret Bowman and Lisa Levy. Now Margaret
- 29:39Speaker 1: Bowman was twenty one years old, she had been beaten
- 29:42Speaker 1: and strangled to death as well as being sexually assaulted.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And then Lisa she was twenty years old and she
- 29:48Speaker 1: had also been beaten and strangled as well as being
- 29:50Speaker 1: sexually assaulted. They had I'm not going to go into
- 29:53Speaker 1: how bad it was. It was really bad, like what
- 29:55Speaker 1: he had done to them.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I'm just going to keep the Yeah, they've already told
- 29:59Speaker 2: you what happened to the ones survived it, yes, somewhat
- 30:01Speaker 2: worse to the ones that didn't.
- 30:03Speaker 1: So we're just going to do just the general description
- 30:05Speaker 1: of the injuries and not go into detail.
- 30:09Speaker 2: If you will see drink. Investigators arrived at the sorority
- 30:13Speaker 2: house and as their process in this scene, they're trying
- 30:16Speaker 2: to understand what happened, they get a call about another
- 30:19Speaker 2: attack just a few blocks away. A neighborhood called about
- 30:23Speaker 2: the house next door. They said that it sounded like
- 30:25Speaker 2: someone was being beaten in there. They arrived at the
- 30:28Speaker 2: home and find another FSU student named Cheryl Thomas, bloody
- 30:33Speaker 2: on the floor. She had a dislocated shoulder and she
- 30:36Speaker 2: had been severely beaten, which ended with her having five
- 30:40Speaker 2: skull and jaw fractures, and she arrived at the hospital
- 30:44Speaker 2: in a coma. After seeing her injuries, the police can't
- 30:47Speaker 2: believe that the person that had attacked the sorority sisters
- 30:51Speaker 2: was also the most likely person to have attacked Cheryl.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Yes, it was clear. They're sitting there like they can't believe.
- 30:58Speaker 2: That this guy did.
- 30:59Speaker 1: They're a different person. Yeah, she only was six blocks away,
- 31:03Speaker 1: So it's like and there have all this police presence
- 31:05Speaker 1: which I guess all the police were at the other
- 31:07Speaker 1: place at this point, but that they would he would
- 31:10Speaker 1: have the gall to go down there and just do
- 31:14Speaker 1: this again. But looking at the injuries or like, it
- 31:16Speaker 1: has to be the same person. Who else could this
- 31:20Speaker 1: possibly be that would do this?
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, we can't have two violent offenders just beating the
- 31:24Speaker 2: crap out of people out here. As investigators started looking
- 31:27Speaker 2: into the case, the lead detective actually had heard of
- 31:30Speaker 2: Ted Bundy. He had been all over the news with
- 31:33Speaker 2: his murders in Washington State and Colorado. The Colorado Police
- 31:37Speaker 2: did call down to Tallahassee to let them know that
- 31:39Speaker 2: Ted had escaped prison and that he could be responsible. However,
- 31:44Speaker 2: the lead detective here at the Sorority attack, he's looking
- 31:48Speaker 2: at this and he's familiar with Ted Bundy's crimes, and
- 31:51Speaker 2: his MO was charming the women and then lureing them
- 31:55Speaker 2: to his car or some other place and then attacking him.
- 31:58Speaker 2: So this is completely different than what he thinks Ted
- 32:01Speaker 2: Bundy's MO is. He really didn't think that Ted Bundy
- 32:04Speaker 2: would be responsible for just this insane amount of attacking
- 32:09Speaker 2: and how.
- 32:10Speaker 1: He attacked, because he had attacked them with a They
- 32:13Speaker 1: found out it was a like an oak log.
- 32:15Speaker 2: That would basically what like a piece of firewood, Yeah.
- 32:19Speaker 1: That he had picked up and he had beat them
- 32:21Speaker 1: with that. Because even today they talk about Ted Bundy
- 32:25Speaker 1: and they like people that study it, they're like, he
- 32:28Speaker 1: is completely unique in this situation because most of the
- 32:32Speaker 1: time they have a like a Jeffrey Dahmer or somebody,
- 32:36Speaker 1: they have like a thing that they do and that's
- 32:37Speaker 1: what they do every time. They don't go and switch
- 32:39Speaker 1: it up. It's not because what gets them off is
- 32:42Speaker 1: the is how they do it. That's their mo that's
- 32:44Speaker 1: their process that gives them that feeling that they need
- 32:48Speaker 1: or whatever. And so for him to go from this
- 32:51Speaker 1: one way that he murdered women to just like beating
- 32:55Speaker 1: them to death is absolutely like just completely insane. And
- 32:59Speaker 1: so that's why, I mean, the detective wasn't wrong. He
- 33:02Speaker 1: was like, this isn't even anywhere near how Ted Bundy operated.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Why on earth would he be down here in Tallahassee,
- 33:08Speaker 1: Florida and beating women to death. Yes, going into a
- 33:13Speaker 1: sorority house like that and doing that, that's not at
- 33:15Speaker 1: all how he That's more like Richard Ramirez did in California.
- 33:23Speaker 1: How he was so as they're looking at the crime
- 33:27Speaker 1: scene and getting different time SAMs for when the girls
- 33:29Speaker 1: were coming home and when people were last seen, they
- 33:32Speaker 1: determined that the attack at the sorority house, all of
- 33:35Speaker 1: this happened. Him doing this to these four women, all
- 33:38Speaker 1: happened in about fifteen minutes. They believe the attack started
- 33:42Speaker 1: around two forty five am, and that the assailant entered
- 33:46Speaker 1: the sorority house through an unlocked door. It was either
- 33:49Speaker 1: on the side or on the back. And during this time,
- 33:52Speaker 1: there's probably about thirty other girls in the house and
- 33:55Speaker 1: nobody heard anything like it was well, dad was all sleeping,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and then they I guess he just attacked so quickly,
- 34:03Speaker 1: like there was no time to even scream, Like he
- 34:05Speaker 1: just beat the one two girls like so fast there
- 34:08Speaker 1: was no time to scream, and then and then the
- 34:11Speaker 1: other two he strangled and everything, so they couldn't even
- 34:15Speaker 1: make a whole bunch of noise I guess to even
- 34:16Speaker 1: alert anybody. So they're processing the crime scene and they
- 34:22Speaker 1: were able to identify if you remember, on Ted Bundy,
- 34:27Speaker 1: there was a bite mark, and that's part of the
- 34:29Speaker 1: way that they that was used in his trial was
- 34:32Speaker 1: this famous bite mark on one of the victims. And
- 34:36Speaker 1: they also were able to find a semen stain and
- 34:39Speaker 1: some hairs in a pantyhose mask that was found at
- 34:43Speaker 1: this crime scene of Sheryl Thomas. So that's some of
- 34:46Speaker 1: the I mean, it also's nineteen seventy eight. They don't
- 34:49Speaker 1: have they don't have DNA testing, they don't have anything
- 34:52Speaker 1: like that, so blood type pretty basic. But the yes,
- 34:57Speaker 1: they're comparing they yeah, they end up comparing the hairs
- 35:00Speaker 1: to his the bite mark to his teeth like things
- 35:04Speaker 1: like that, but there's not a lot for this.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Probably their best evidence is the dental records in the
- 35:08Speaker 2: bite mark.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Yeah, the bite mark was the big one in the
- 35:12Speaker 1: courtroom where they he had a clear because he had
- 35:16Speaker 1: a it was like a real distinct bite mark that
- 35:18Speaker 1: he had with his teeth and everything like that. So yeah,
- 35:21Speaker 1: that was one of their biggest things that they used. Also,
- 35:24Speaker 1: it was just clearly him, like there was like, yeah,
- 35:27Speaker 1: there was eyewitnesses saying that they saw him at the
- 35:30Speaker 1: around the sorority house and everything like that. So but
- 35:33Speaker 1: that's the base. That's the big evidence that they had
- 35:35Speaker 1: that they were able to find at the crime scene. Again,
- 35:38Speaker 1: we're doing a brief overview this. This there people have
- 35:41Speaker 1: like written books and that extensive research into Ted Bundy
- 35:47Speaker 1: and all his crimes. This is just a brief overview
- 35:49Speaker 1: of the crime.
- 35:50Speaker 2: So since we passed bi as, we passed.
- 35:52Speaker 1: By and I went and creeped out at the creeped
- 35:54Speaker 1: the house out. You know what's crazy is I was
- 35:57Speaker 1: reading more. I've found that fascinating that this house was
- 35:59Speaker 1: still there. So I started reading like Reddit post and
- 36:04Speaker 1: I did tell STU when I got back there, I
- 36:05Speaker 1: was like, Okay, so we have two daughters, so we
- 36:07Speaker 1: can get one of them, at least one join the sorority,
- 36:12Speaker 1: and then we can go in and we can see,
- 36:14Speaker 1: like what's going on. Anyways, because they were saying some
- 36:16Speaker 1: of the girls, some of the girls knew. I saw
- 36:20Speaker 1: it read some posts where people like, oh yeah, I
- 36:22Speaker 1: won't go to FSU. The girls do know about it
- 36:25Speaker 1: that live there and stuff with that, and are real
- 36:27Speaker 1: upset because you know, when they're sorority sisters, they feel
- 36:29Speaker 1: like they're sisters, even if they're prot like it's a
- 36:32Speaker 1: whole thing with the sorority sisters. I don't get it,
- 36:34Speaker 1: but they feel very connected to if you're like a
- 36:37Speaker 1: delta Delta Pai or whatever you're like, even if you're
- 36:40Speaker 1: an alumni from it or whatever you're or whatever your
- 36:44Speaker 1: sisters or whatever. The most I know about sororities is
- 36:48Speaker 1: what I learned illegally blonde, and that's about it. So
- 36:53Speaker 1: they but then some of them were saying that some
- 36:55Speaker 1: of them didn't even know anything about this, and they're
- 36:57Speaker 1: just like staying in the rooms where this happened and stuff.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Then they found out and they're upset about it.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I don't think they found out.
- 37:03Speaker 2: I don't.
- 37:04Speaker 1: I don't think people talk about it. There was I
- 37:06Speaker 1: felt I thought, you know what I'm so, I'm so
- 37:08Speaker 1: like into truth or like thinking about true crime stuff.
- 37:11Speaker 1: I thought there'd be more people out of the Ted Bundy,
- 37:13Speaker 1: like the Kyomega House, like. I thought there'd be other people.
- 37:16Speaker 2: That you could talk to while they were taking paces.
- 37:19Speaker 1: I can't believe they still, yes, I was the only
- 37:21Speaker 1: one out there. So I don't know. I guess I
- 37:24Speaker 1: just thought in my head it would be like, but
- 37:28Speaker 1: I feel like the kids today, you've just moved on
- 37:30Speaker 1: from written there's like, Okay, well they don't know anything
- 37:33Speaker 1: about it, doesn't seem like it. Yeah, So but if
- 37:36Speaker 1: you go to FSU. You can let me know if
- 37:38Speaker 1: I'm wrong. But that's what I read on Reddit, so
- 37:42Speaker 1: that's true.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Only I have a factor. Bull crap, we don't.
- 37:45Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 37:45Speaker 2: So as they're trying, as police are trying to figure
- 37:48Speaker 2: out who could have done this, the whole town of
- 37:50Speaker 2: Tallahassee is on high alert. All of the fraternities and
- 37:54Speaker 2: all the other male students were volunteering to walk with
- 37:57Speaker 2: the female students when they had to go anywhere, as
- 38:00Speaker 2: well as sleeping in the lobbies of the dorm rooms
- 38:02Speaker 2: to offer some.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Protection, which was very nice of them, but also there
- 38:07Speaker 1: was concerns that it could have been one of them. Yes,
- 38:10Speaker 1: it's doing because they literally had no ideal because at.
- 38:13Speaker 2: This point they had no idea who did this, so
- 38:15Speaker 2: everybody was a suspect. As kara It.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Says, if I wrote this or something.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Things became more intense on February eighth, when a twelve
- 38:23Speaker 2: year old Kimberly Leech went missing in Lake City, Florida,
- 38:27Speaker 2: which is about sixty miles away. She had been called
- 38:30Speaker 2: to the principal's office to retrieve a purse, and she
- 38:33Speaker 2: never returned to her class. It is believed that she
- 38:36Speaker 2: came across ted Bundy at some point and he abducted her.
- 38:40Speaker 2: They would later find out that he tried to abduct
- 38:42Speaker 2: a fourteen year old girl earlier that day, but her
- 38:45Speaker 2: brother had shown up and he left.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Yeah, this was a girl in Jacksonville and her dad
- 38:50Speaker 1: was actually the police chief, and he tried to abduct her,
- 38:56Speaker 1: but her brother had actually like saw what was going
- 38:59Speaker 1: on and came and you know, Ted Bundy's like a
- 39:02Speaker 1: weak little bitch, like as soon as a mail shows up,
- 39:04Speaker 1: he's gone, yeah, he can't do it.
- 39:07Speaker 2: So now this is very confusing to investigators because they
- 39:12Speaker 2: weren't sure if it was connected to the Kai Omega
- 39:15Speaker 2: martyrs due to the fact that Kimberly was only twelve
- 39:17Speaker 2: years old. It wouldn't be until seven weeks later they
- 39:20Speaker 2: would find out what happened to Kimberly when her body
- 39:23Speaker 2: was found. She had been sexually assaulted and her throat
- 39:26Speaker 2: had been slit. Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Again, this is like not out of character, this is
- 39:31Speaker 1: out of character. He just he's basically he escaped prison
- 39:35Speaker 1: and turned into like a bloodthirsty psychopath and he didn't care.
- 39:39Speaker 2: He's just going to get it all in until the
- 39:40Speaker 2: kept it yeah.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Until they catch him. Y. Now, during all of this,
- 39:44Speaker 1: Ted Bundy was still living in Tallahassee. However, he was
- 39:47Speaker 1: unable to pay his rent and decided to flee town
- 39:50Speaker 1: on February twelfth, nineteen seventy eight. Now, in doing this,
- 39:54Speaker 1: he stole a vehicle. Just and just three days later,
- 39:57Speaker 1: which was exactly one month from the night of the
- 40:00Speaker 1: Arty's Sister attacks, he was pulled over in Pensacola around
- 40:03Speaker 1: one am. Now the officer had identified the volks Wagon
- 40:07Speaker 1: Beetles as a stolen vehicle, and that's why he even
- 40:11Speaker 1: they didn't know who they were looking for him. They
- 40:13Speaker 1: just this was a stolen vehicle, so they pulled over.
- 40:16Speaker 1: He loves a Volkswagen Beetle though, that's what he drove.
- 40:19Speaker 1: You know, you can go see the car. I think
- 40:20Speaker 1: it's in New Orleans. It's in some sort of crime museum,
- 40:25Speaker 1: the original Volkswagen I think from his crimes up in
- 40:30Speaker 1: Washington State and stuff. Now, whenever the officer attempted to
- 40:35Speaker 1: arrest Ted Bundy, he kicked the officer in the legs
- 40:38Speaker 1: and took off running. Well, the officer he did fire
- 40:42Speaker 1: at him twice but didn't hit him, and he started
- 40:44Speaker 1: to chase him and was able to catch ted Bundy. Now,
- 40:47Speaker 1: upon looking in his vehicle, they found three sets of
- 40:50Speaker 1: IDs belonging to female FSU students. It didn't say whether
- 40:55Speaker 1: they were the ideas of the girls or just ones
- 40:57Speaker 1: that he had stolen. They also found twenty one stolen
- 41:01Speaker 1: credit cards and also as stolen television. They also found
- 41:05Speaker 1: some glasses and some other items used to that he
- 41:08Speaker 1: used to disguise himself and whenever he tried to abduct
- 41:11Speaker 1: the fourteen year old girl, he had introduced himself. I
- 41:14Speaker 1: can't remember the name, but he was wearing those glasses
- 41:16Speaker 1: and she identified the glasses. He said he was with
- 41:17Speaker 1: the fire department or whatever. Now, when the officer got
- 41:23Speaker 1: ted Bundy into the police car as they're driving off,
- 41:25Speaker 1: he heard him say I wish you had killed me.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Which some theories are that he went to Florida because
- 41:30Speaker 1: he knew he would get the death penalty because he
- 41:33Speaker 1: was like never gonna.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Or he was going to get death by cop.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I think they say. They claim some people
- 41:39Speaker 1: think that he wanted to die and so he knew
- 41:42Speaker 1: he could never stop and he didn't want to be
- 41:44Speaker 1: in prison because he wanted to like you know, he
- 41:47Speaker 1: has this desire to murder women and rape them, and
- 41:51Speaker 1: so he escaped and that's why he went to Florida
- 41:54Speaker 1: because they for sure had the death penalty and would
- 41:56Speaker 1: for sure go through with it.
- 41:58Speaker 2: After Tad's arrest, they determined that after he had escaped
- 42:02Speaker 2: prison in Colorado, he had arrived in tallahasse He on
- 42:05Speaker 2: January eighth and then the attack and then attacked the
- 42:09Speaker 2: girls just a week later. Ted Bundy would go on
- 42:12Speaker 2: trial and he would represent himself.
- 42:15Speaker 1: It was quite the show, yes, because it was televised
- 42:18Speaker 1: as well, which is I think it was one of
- 42:20Speaker 1: the first ones televised like that because it would have
- 42:24Speaker 1: been in nineteen seventy nine, nineteen eighty and then I
- 42:27Speaker 1: know Jeffrey Dahmers was televised, but he was in the
- 42:29Speaker 1: early nineties. That was a major production.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yeah, same thing with Oj say Oj killed daytime television
- 42:39Speaker 2: with his trial during the penalty phase for the murder
- 42:42Speaker 2: of Kimberly Leech. We had a twist in the drama
- 42:48Speaker 2: Carol Boone, who's a former coworker and now the girlfriend
- 42:52Speaker 2: of Ted Bundy. She was on the witness stand as
- 42:56Speaker 2: a character witness for him during the penalty phase trying
- 42:59Speaker 2: to get it. I guess not not the death penalty.
- 43:02Speaker 2: And while she's there, Ted Bundy's like, hey, Carol, will
- 43:07Speaker 2: you marry me? And she said, why yes, Ted, I
- 43:10Speaker 2: will marry you. And since they were in front of
- 43:13Speaker 2: a judge, Kara Florida law obscure as it might be
- 43:17Speaker 2: if you were proposed to in front of a judge
- 43:21Speaker 2: and you accept, you are automatically married.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I don't know if that's still the law. But Stut's
- 43:26Speaker 1: acting like he's telling me about this, but I literally
- 43:28Speaker 1: just told him this entire thing, and then he's it's
- 43:31Speaker 1: just funny, it's stealing me, Like, kra did you know crazy,
- 43:37Speaker 1: it's obscure. Use the word obscure.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Well, Carol would go on to get pregnant. So Ted
- 43:44Speaker 2: Bundy does have one child out there in the world,
- 43:48Speaker 2: but nobody knows who it is.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I think it's a daughter, but no, I had looked
- 43:53Speaker 1: like a couple of years ago, because sometimes I get
- 43:56Speaker 1: on the like the like one of the serial killers,
- 43:59Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, like you know, just getting
- 44:01Speaker 1: into looking at it and stuff like that. And I
- 44:04Speaker 1: tried to see if anybody knew who she was, and
- 44:06Speaker 1: she really just dropped off met and so did that
- 44:09Speaker 1: Caroline Boone. Maybe she came to her senses. I don't know.
- 44:12Speaker 1: So this was also again because I've heard about you know,
- 44:16Speaker 1: we've all heard about Ted Bundy and never said that,
- 44:19Speaker 1: but I didn't realize he was only active. So he
- 44:22Speaker 1: was only active from nineteen seventy four to nineteen seventy eight,
- 44:26Speaker 1: and he was executed in nineteen eighty nine. And in
- 44:30Speaker 1: that time period, they believe he killed thirty plus women
- 44:35Speaker 1: in that timeframe.
- 44:36Speaker 2: I thought that I heard him say that they thought
- 44:39Speaker 2: it could be in over one hundred. What somebody said that,
- 44:44Speaker 2: Okay on one of them shows that you were watching.
- 44:46Speaker 2: It was on in the background while I was feeding
- 44:48Speaker 2: the baby.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Oh no, but I think they think it's like as
- 44:53Speaker 1: much as thirty six was the max number I had
- 44:57Speaker 1: read or whatever.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Well, I don't know, that's a lot for it might
- 45:02Speaker 2: have been a different show that started after the Ted
- 45:04Speaker 2: Bunny and might be talking about a different guy.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Well, I think we would hear about that guy if
- 45:09Speaker 1: he killed well they think he could have anyway, So yeah,
- 45:14Speaker 1: that's how from what I read, it was thirty plus,
- 45:17Speaker 1: so it could be one hundred. We don't know. Nobody
- 45:19Speaker 1: knows that they don't know about it. Is fascinating how
- 45:22Speaker 1: he escaped prison twice, Like he escaped prison not once,
- 45:25Speaker 1: but twice, guys.
- 45:26Speaker 2: So in Colorado, in Colorado.
- 45:30Speaker 1: He escaped twice in Colorado or was it once.
- 45:33Speaker 2: In twice in Colorado?
- 45:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:35Speaker 2: The second time he jumped out of the window hurt himself.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Yes, because because he was representing himself and a lot
- 45:42Speaker 1: of this stuff, he had special access to time alone,
- 45:47Speaker 1: like in the libraries and things like that to work
- 45:50Speaker 1: on his case. So he had special privileges. I think
- 45:53Speaker 1: that was part of the reason he represented himself.
- 45:55Speaker 2: He wasn't handcuff, no waistcuffs, nothing.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Yeah. And so the first time he jumped out of
- 45:59Speaker 1: a window when he been up there in the library
- 46:01Speaker 1: because he was allowed to be alone up there. And
- 46:03Speaker 1: then the second time, he like starved himself down to
- 46:07Speaker 1: like one hundred and forty pounds and used some of
- 46:09Speaker 1: the books that he had because he was given books
- 46:13Speaker 1: to look up research laws and stuff and was able
- 46:17Speaker 1: to get up out of the ceiling and escape. And
- 46:19Speaker 1: that's how he got to.
- 46:20Speaker 2: Floor guards apartment above him. Yeah, stole some clothes, locked
- 46:24Speaker 2: right out of the prison.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Yep, and then uh went to got there January eighth,
- 46:31Speaker 1: and within a week had murdered two women and then
- 46:36Speaker 1: attacked three others and then killed a little girl. So
- 46:40Speaker 1: crazy anyway, So that is our episode for this week.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Do you have a y'all need Jesus please tell me
- 46:46Speaker 1: no I do. Oh my god, I'm so tired. We're
- 46:52Speaker 1: trying to get back track on track, guys, I'm trying, Okay,
- 46:54Speaker 1: very tired.
- 46:55Speaker 2: We got we got to do that, thankfully.
- 46:57Speaker 1: This baby sleeps through the night like he's like a
- 46:59Speaker 1: hard course sleeper. He'll sleep till like nine o'clock in
- 47:01Speaker 1: the morning.
- 47:02Speaker 2: It's he's definitely related to us.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Yes, he's fallen in line with the other children.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Man Illinois man drunkenly steals police cruiser on Memorial Day weekend,
- 47:14Speaker 2: faces seven chargers, Kara Florida not Florida, this is Florida. Yes,
- 47:22Speaker 2: we're gonna stay with the theme. He steals a key
- 47:25Speaker 2: West police cruiser on Memorial Day weekend. As a matter
- 47:28Speaker 2: of fact, we just missed it. We just missed it.
- 47:31Speaker 2: We missed the Blue Origin rocket blowing up today.
- 47:34Speaker 1: We did see the one go up though.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a SpaceX Falcon nine went up about
- 47:40Speaker 2: six o'clock in the morning.
- 47:42Speaker 1: No one was injured in the Blue Origin explosion, though.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Way No, there's usually a minimum.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Safe chimpanzee in there now.
- 47:50Speaker 2: A minimum safe distance that you gotta be.
- 47:52Speaker 1: What was that chimpanzees they sent up into space?
- 47:55Speaker 2: I don't know, hal or something I I can't remember.
- 48:00Speaker 2: I should since we were just there and they said
- 48:02Speaker 2: it on their video at the NASA place at the
- 48:05Speaker 2: Kennedy Space Center anyway, Kara, Yahoo News, Olivia Rickman, Richmond,
- 48:12Speaker 2: Wednesday May twenty seven, twenty six. Memorial Day weekend in
- 48:16Speaker 2: Key West is supposed to be about sunshine, cold drinks,
- 48:19Speaker 2: and good memories, just like us, Just like us.
- 48:21Speaker 1: The chimpanzee's name was ham Ham Hal.
- 48:24Speaker 2: I was off by one letter A for a su
- 48:30Speaker 2: one suburban Chicago man. It became something else entirely a
- 48:34Speaker 2: criminal record, a busted field sobriety test, some fence related injuries,
- 48:38Speaker 2: and enough charges to fill a very embarrassing rap sheet.
- 48:43Speaker 2: John Mack thirty eight of Lagrange. I'm guessing they say
- 48:47Speaker 2: lagrange in Illinois and stuff LaGrone, lagrange, lagrange, like Texas.
- 48:52Speaker 2: He was arrested Saturday, after Key West Police Department officers
- 48:56Speaker 2: say he climbed into an unoccupied police cruiser at Key
- 48:59Speaker 2: West Bite Marina and took it for a spin around
- 49:03Speaker 2: the parking lot, all while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
- 49:07Speaker 2: You think the incident unfolded near Dante's Key Westpool Bar
- 49:13Speaker 2: and Restaurant on Caroline Street, where an officer was working
- 49:16Speaker 2: in off duty security detail, apparently keeping the piece at
- 49:20Speaker 2: a pool bar that on this particular Saturday would not
- 49:24Speaker 2: keep its own piece for long. Surveillance footage captured the
- 49:28Speaker 2: moment around what time you think it was, Kara.
- 49:33Speaker 1: That he stole the car. Yes, ten am.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Ten thirty two am at six twenty pm when Max strolled.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Out, Still a decent respectable people are out at this time.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Yes, he strolled out of the bar with two companions.
- 49:52Speaker 2: He stopped near the patrol vehicle and then, seemingly on impulse,
- 49:56Speaker 2: opened the door and he got in. He then reportedly
- 49:59Speaker 2: put the cruiser in drive and nearly struck two of
- 50:03Speaker 2: those same friends he had been walking alongside moments before.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Whether they remained his friends after that is unclear, and
- 50:11Speaker 2: nearby security guard alert of the off duty officer. An
- 50:14Speaker 2: additional KWPD units responded as Mack drove the cruiser around
- 50:20Speaker 2: the Marina parking lot. Officers eventually located him outside the
- 50:24Speaker 2: Boat House Bar and Grill, which is nearby, where he
- 50:27Speaker 2: reportedly claimed he had drunk somewhere between three and six
- 50:30Speaker 2: corona bears.
- 50:32Speaker 1: Bullshit, all right, there are no way you do that
- 50:37Speaker 1: on three to six coronas.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Unless you were having back in those with a shot.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Mac was arrested, failed to feel the sobriety test, refused
- 50:44Speaker 2: a breathalyzer, and sustained cuts from a fence while resisting.
- 50:48Speaker 2: He's now facing seven charges. The list of counts Mac faces,
- 50:54Speaker 2: by any measure, is a lot. Key West police charged
- 50:57Speaker 2: him with the DWI or DUI I mean burglary, grand theft,
- 51:02Speaker 2: grand theft of law enforcement equipment, reckless driving, refusal to
- 51:06Speaker 2: submit to DUI testing, and resting resisting arrest without violence.
- 51:13Speaker 2: That is the seven separate charges stemming from what was,
- 51:17Speaker 2: at its core, about fifteen minutes of a very bad
- 51:19Speaker 2: decision making near a marina.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Very similar time frame, very similar thing happened to in
- 51:27Speaker 1: someone named Ted Bundy fifteen minutes of outs.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Most the inclusion of grand theft of law enforcement equipment
- 51:35Speaker 2: is a charge that carries its own weight beyond standard
- 51:37Speaker 2: vehicle theft. Stealing any car as serious, but stealing a
- 51:41Speaker 2: marked police cruiser, complete with its equipment, communications, hardware, and
- 51:45Speaker 2: official insignia lands in a separate legal category. Florida takes
- 51:49Speaker 2: the theft government property and law enforcement equipment seriously, and
- 51:54Speaker 2: prosecutors tend to treat those cases accordingly. Legal expert to
- 52:00Speaker 2: note that when a stolen vehicle is identified as emergency
- 52:03Speaker 2: or law enforcement property, charges and potential penalties escalates significantly
- 52:08Speaker 2: beyond what a standard grand theft auto case would carry,
- 52:13Speaker 2: adding further complex complexity to his situation. Police said Mac
- 52:17Speaker 2: did not have a valid driver's license at all. He
- 52:21Speaker 2: was carrying an Illinois identification card, not a license, meaning
- 52:25Speaker 2: he had no legal right to be driving any vehicle
- 52:28Speaker 2: that day, let alone hit the stolen police cruiser. All right,
- 52:35Speaker 2: that's not it? Are?
- 52:36Speaker 1: Is that not it?
- 52:38Speaker 2: Key West has seen its share of unusual vehicle incidents.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Kara, You're not going to rehash the one that we
- 52:43Speaker 1: already talked about about the bus or whatever.
- 52:45Speaker 2: This is a different one. If you think a tourist
- 52:47Speaker 2: stealing a police car is the most outlandish vehicle related
- 52:50Speaker 2: incident key West has ever seen. The city's history suggests otherwise,
- 52:56Speaker 2: and a case that made national headlines, a North Carolina
- 52:59Speaker 2: tourist stole an ambulance and drove it down the famous
- 53:02Speaker 2: Duvall Street. We've been there with the emergency lights flashing,
- 53:06Speaker 2: later telling police she had done it to get law
- 53:09Speaker 2: enforcement's attention because she could not find her friend. She
- 53:14Speaker 2: reportedly thanked the officer for the ride to the jail.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Key West is also no stranger for the theft of
- 53:21Speaker 2: its beloved Conch tour train. I got a picture of that,
- 53:25Speaker 2: a novelty tourist attraction that has been stolen on at
- 53:28Speaker 2: least one account by someone, according to police, picked up
- 53:32Speaker 2: random passengers along the way before being arrested.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Oh, we really missed an opportunities to do. We should
- 53:37Speaker 1: have had you steal.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Something, steal the constraining.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Something No, something different. We need to pick up the different.
- 53:44Speaker 2: I think it would have been like because we did
- 53:46Speaker 2: the y'all need Jesus about stealing a constrain for me
- 53:48Speaker 2: to steal it?
- 53:49Speaker 1: We well, we barely this remind we know.
- 53:52Speaker 2: Where the guy that arrested the constraint got arrested southern point,
- 53:57Speaker 2: southernmost point Bowie.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Oh we've been there now, I don't remember. STU told me.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Somebody asked where I got the key line pie, and
- 54:06Speaker 1: I can't find the message. So if you're listening to this,
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's the place is called Blue Heaven. This is what
- 54:10Speaker 1: happens when Stu reads messages and then doesn't know anything
- 54:13Speaker 1: about it and then just opens them and then I
- 54:16Speaker 1: can't find it. I already went and tried to look.
- 54:18Speaker 1: I can't find it.
- 54:19Speaker 2: It was probably it's in the business suite, I think. Okay.
- 54:22Speaker 1: Anyways, if you're listening to this, it's.
- 54:24Speaker 2: Called Blue Heaven.
- 54:25Speaker 1: There are It is a brunch place. There was a
- 54:28Speaker 1: huge line, however, if you walk across the street, because
- 54:31Speaker 1: it was just me and the two year old and
- 54:33Speaker 1: the baby because Stu and them went to dry towrdtu
- 54:36Speaker 1: Gon the I had tickets. We were supposed to all
- 54:39Speaker 1: go together, but I panicked about the baby and I
- 54:41Speaker 1: didn't go. That's where the two hour ferry right out
- 54:46Speaker 1: to the National Park out there, and I just like,
- 54:49Speaker 1: I just like panicked about the baby, and I was
- 54:51Speaker 1: like I can't I'll do a lot of things. But
- 54:54Speaker 1: it was a ten hour so him and the five
- 54:57Speaker 1: year old and the three year old went, which they
- 54:59Speaker 1: were fine. It was mainly the baby. The big thing
- 55:01Speaker 1: about the baby was the that we had struggled with
- 55:05Speaker 1: the most was I panished about him getting hot was
- 55:08Speaker 1: the big thing. So I would like panic about them
- 55:10Speaker 1: getting motion, I get motion sickness, and then I started panicking,
- 55:15Speaker 1: like and then I started worrying about like the mountain.
- 55:17Speaker 1: The one of the big things we did not do
- 55:19Speaker 1: on the trip was we did not go to anything
- 55:23Speaker 1: that was enclosed with lots of people because we were
- 55:27Speaker 1: trying we did not feel comfortable exposing the baby to
- 55:31Speaker 1: Part of the reason we didn't fly anywhere is because
- 55:33Speaker 1: we didn't want to put the baby whenever. He was
- 55:35Speaker 1: like so young, you know, because he's like not vaccinated,
- 55:39Speaker 1: I mean he only has his initial ones or whatever.
- 55:42Speaker 1: So the big thing was to keep it like, not
- 55:45Speaker 1: in closed place. The only place we made the mistake
- 55:47Speaker 1: on that was that stupid NASA thing, and I did
- 55:49Speaker 1: not remember it being that bad. We went into the
- 55:51Speaker 1: place and or whatever, and the freaking field trips, okay, people.
- 55:56Speaker 2: Need they would have. There was going to be ten
- 55:59Speaker 2: thousand field trips at NASA tokay, do you still want
- 56:02Speaker 2: to come?
- 56:03Speaker 1: That was part of the problem I've realized now traveling
- 56:05Speaker 1: in May is the field trips. There were multiple places
- 56:08Speaker 1: we went and there were field trips, and they talk
- 56:10Speaker 1: about running a day a field trip. You wouldn't people
- 56:12Speaker 1: worry about me and my four children walking into a place. No,
- 56:15Speaker 1: you need to worry about a bunch of like an
- 56:17Speaker 1: entire group of like fifty middle schoolers walking into the
- 56:21Speaker 1: two chaperones. Anyways, I forgot what I was seeing. Oh
- 56:27Speaker 1: so waiting So anyways, the place was called Blue Heaven
- 56:30Speaker 1: and across the street. You can just go to the
- 56:32Speaker 1: bar and get the pie. You don't have to go
- 56:35Speaker 1: to the restaurant. They have the pie there. Problem was
- 56:38Speaker 1: is that like people had done like things where they
- 56:41Speaker 1: go and trial the key line pie around. I did
- 56:42Speaker 1: try something. I don't really like key lime pie, so
- 56:44Speaker 1: I wasn't that excited about it, but I did try
- 56:46Speaker 1: a couple of them. Oh and then the one place,
- 56:48Speaker 1: the donut place. I swear we have a tendency to
- 56:51Speaker 1: shut places down. You'll see eventually whenever I get to
- 56:55Speaker 1: that day, me and the two year old and the
- 56:57Speaker 1: baby went and got donuts after we dropped them off
- 57:00Speaker 1: at the ferry and that place closed down after fifteen years.
- 57:05Speaker 1: That like a day or two after we we went.
- 57:08Speaker 2: So, yeah, like that damn place we're trying to go
- 57:10Speaker 2: to on the.
- 57:10Speaker 1: Way, Yes, on the way there in Brady, Texas, we
- 57:13Speaker 1: were going to go to this place.
- 57:15Speaker 2: I thought it it was the train station of some sort.
- 57:17Speaker 1: Yes, I thought it had been opened for a long time,
- 57:19Speaker 1: but the restaurant had only been there a short time.
- 57:22Speaker 1: The place had been around for.
- 57:23Speaker 2: A long time. You got corrected real quick.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Yes, I got every person in Brady, Texas found that
- 57:27Speaker 1: post and corrected me.
- 57:30Speaker 2: And then you promptly turn around and threw me under
- 57:32Speaker 2: the bus, saying that I told you that.
- 57:33Speaker 1: Well, I thought you did tell me that. Anyways, okay,
- 57:36Speaker 1: I'm going in this one with some I got distracted
- 57:39Speaker 1: by this chimpanzee.
- 57:40Speaker 2: That's went up in small Pam.
- 57:41Speaker 1: Yes, so it was Ham and the acronym is for
- 57:44Speaker 1: a Holoman Aerospace Medical Center. He was trained there and
- 57:48Speaker 1: he was originally known as number sixty five. So they
- 57:51Speaker 1: trained these monkeys, these chimpanzees for like how many He
- 57:55Speaker 1: trained for eighteen months and then he was chosen to
- 57:57Speaker 1: go on this mission, so I'm assuming there was at
- 58:02Speaker 1: least sixty five chimpanzees that were in this. So he
- 58:07Speaker 1: survived the flight. He was just tired and dehydrated, but
- 58:09Speaker 1: when he got back down he was able to eat
- 58:11Speaker 1: and drink. He After his mission, he retired and he
- 58:15Speaker 1: was transferred to the National Zoo in Washington, d C.
- 58:17Speaker 1: And then later to the North Carolina Zoo. In nineteen
- 58:20Speaker 1: eighty three. He died at the age of twenty five
- 58:23Speaker 1: in the North Carolina Zoo. And now I'm gonna end
- 58:26Speaker 1: up having to go on a freaking road trip again
- 58:28Speaker 1: because he was buried in the in front of the
- 58:33Speaker 1: International Space Hall of Fame in Alamo Gordo, New Mexico,
- 58:39Speaker 1: which is four hours and forty five minutes from us, So.
- 58:41Speaker 2: We got to go, seem it's over.
- 58:43Speaker 1: There by that White Sands National Park. Oh, anyways, and
- 58:47Speaker 1: his skeleton is held by the National Museum of Health
- 58:49Speaker 1: and Medicine.
- 58:50Speaker 2: So wait, they deboned him and then buried it. Yes, Oh,
- 58:54Speaker 2: come on.
- 58:57Speaker 1: I'm guessing the one is because they did research on
- 59:00Speaker 1: bones and stuff after he came back to see what
- 59:02Speaker 1: it did to him.
- 59:03Speaker 2: He was only that probably twelve hours.
- 59:05Speaker 1: Well, they didn't know what it did at that time
- 59:06Speaker 1: he was in anyways, so now there's your fun fact
- 59:10Speaker 1: for the day. So about Ham the chimpanzee. Anyways, all right,
- 59:14Speaker 1: Well we will try to see you guys next week.
- 59:17Speaker 1: We're trying to recover from his trip. It's been it's
- 59:19Speaker 1: been a go.
- 59:19Speaker 2: It's been downtown. Good thing. We're on maternity.
- 59:23Speaker 1: Well probably is two guys. I go back to work
- 59:26Speaker 1: next week, so oh.
- 59:28Speaker 2: Shit, I'm on my own with these forks.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Yep, oh Jesus, so we will not and we got
- 59:33Speaker 1: to move. So oh at some point we will be
- 59:35Speaker 1: going to the Houston area to go look for houses
- 59:38Speaker 1: here in the next month or so. They just contacted
- 59:40Speaker 1: me today about the uh because it is for work,
- 59:43Speaker 1: so I have like a relocation cover or whatever. So
- 59:48Speaker 1: we'll go to Houston and look for houses and yeah,
- 59:51Speaker 1: that's about it. I'm excited. I've never lived in a
- 59:53Speaker 1: really big town like that. That's like one of the
- 59:55Speaker 1: biggest cities in the world. So I'm excited about all
- 59:59Speaker 1: the different cuisine we can go eat, and then like
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: all the libraries and stuff like that, because out here
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: there's there's like two libraries in town and they're both
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: shit they have no books anyways. All right, well that's it.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: We gotta go. Yes, all right, we'll see you guys
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: next time. By everyone, say bye, Steve.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Don't you know it's bad to be superstios linapping else
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: it's working, it's really learning. Sack this word. Fine hands,
