- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
- 0:05Speaker 1: The Rex was not chasing the Jeep. Murray! Murray, you there?
- 0:10Speaker 1: You love sandwiches, huh? Let's go to 80. His name
- 0:14Speaker 1: is Bo. Wow. That's prime time, baby. I had a
- 0:18Speaker 1: crush on Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 2: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 2: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:26Speaker 1: He cost them the game last night. Although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game.
- 0:29Speaker 2: You're listening to Stugatz and Company. Hawk, I don't want
- 0:32Speaker 2: to get carried away. I know the game was on
- 0:34Speaker 2: Friday night. We've had Saturday, a Saturday full of football.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And then we had Sunday night football. And we've had
- 0:40Speaker 2: football all weekend. And it's great that football's back. But
- 0:43Speaker 2: I got to tell you, Darian Mensah might be the
- 0:46Speaker 2: greatest hurricane of all time.
- 0:48Speaker 1: How about that? Well, I got news for you.
- 0:53Speaker 3: While I'd like to take your opinion to the woodshed
- 0:57Speaker 3: and say it's a little too early to make that distinction,
- 1:00Speaker 3: I might be on board with you. He looked unbelievable.
- 1:05Speaker 3: He really did. You want, as a football fan, to
- 1:09Speaker 3: feel confident that your quarterback is going to be able
- 1:12Speaker 3: to find an open receiver, is going to be able to.
- 1:14Speaker 4: Extend a play if the pocket collapses.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I mean, Darian Mensah did everything. right on Friday night.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Like it was remarkable to watch how accurate he is
- 1:25Speaker 3: as well.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yep. And Malachi Tony as well.
- 1:29Speaker 3: I mean, just it's, you know, Malachi Tony, I thought
- 1:32Speaker 3: before the season, I was like, Hey, don't expect to
- 1:36Speaker 3: see what you saw last season from Malachi Tony. Cause
- 1:39Speaker 3: he was sneaking up on college football last season. Nobody
- 1:42Speaker 3: really knew about him. Oh, 17 year old kid. And
- 1:45Speaker 3: you know, they're hoping that he turns into a good weapon.
- 1:48Speaker 3: And I thought to myself this year, Obviously, if you're
- 1:50Speaker 3: a defensive coordinator, you're saying, okay, we know what Malachi
- 1:53Speaker 3: Toney can do. Let's make sure he doesn't get open.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Let's make sure he doesn't consistently beat us. And Malachi
- 2:01Speaker 3: Toney looked better this first game than he looked maybe
- 2:05Speaker 3: in any game last season.
- 2:07Speaker 1: He is the real deal.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Like, you're talking, I mean, there is a list of
- 2:12Speaker 3: Hurricanes receivers in history that that Malachi Toney, if he
- 2:17Speaker 3: stays there long enough, may end up eclipsing.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I don't have the data to back this up, but
- 2:23Speaker 5: week one in college football, that had to be the
- 2:25Speaker 5: record for most amount of Heisman pose hits.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Who else was doing them? Someone else. Was it the
- 2:32Speaker 1: guy in Ohio State?
- 2:33Speaker 5: Jeremiah Smith. Everybody who scores a touchdown this year is
- 2:36Speaker 5: hitting the Heisman post.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Well, Malachi kind of set the barometer there.
- 2:40Speaker 3: So if you're Smith and you want to keep up
- 2:42Speaker 3: and you want to keep your name in the Heisman conversation,
- 2:45Speaker 3: you better start doing it tutty for tutty as well.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I mean, he had 12 catches, 234 yards at three touchdowns.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Malachi and Tony, it's absurd. That's insane.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I mean, I know it's Stanford, but still, it's ridiculous. Taylor,
- 3:01Speaker 2: is there a chance here where a non... Like, the
- 3:03Speaker 2: quarterbacks are great. At least they were in week one.
- 3:06Speaker 2: But is there a chance that, whether it's Smith, whether
- 3:09Speaker 2: it's Malachi Toney, that we might see someone who's not
- 3:12Speaker 2: playing quarterback win the Heisman Trophy?
- 3:14Speaker 1: I mean, we might. There's some talented players, man.
- 3:17Speaker 5: The path for somebody like Malachi Toney winning would be... Like,
- 3:20Speaker 5: Gary Mensah has to be, like, turnover-prone or... Malachi Tony
- 3:25Speaker 5: has to be doing like screens and taking them to
- 3:27Speaker 5: the house.
- 3:28Speaker 1: It's hard to see each other, right?
- 3:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:30Speaker 3: No, but if you have gaudy numbers, if you have,
- 3:33Speaker 3: I don't care if it's long passes or yak, if
- 3:35Speaker 3: you have gaudy yardage numbers, gaudy number of receptions, gaudy
- 3:40Speaker 3: number of TDs, is it possible at the Heisman ceremony,
- 3:44Speaker 3: you see two kids from Ohio state and two kids
- 3:47Speaker 3: from university of Miami.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Has that ever happened before?
- 3:51Speaker 1: I don't think so. No. That would be wild. That's
- 3:54Speaker 1: the way it's pacing. Yes.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Taylor, I have a serious question here. How did a
- 3:59Speaker 2: talent like Darian Mensah end up at Duke?
- 4:03Speaker 5: Well, he was at Tulane first. How did a quarterback
- 4:05Speaker 5: like that end up at Tulane?
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I mean, how did Kurt Warner end up bagging groceries?
- 4:11Speaker 3: Sometimes they just slip through the cracks.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that's what I love about the portal, Hawk.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Even with Louisville last night, you saw an Ohio State
- 4:18Speaker 2: backup who normally just would have remained a backup.
- 4:21Speaker 1: He gets to transfer now. He goes to Louisville.
- 4:23Speaker 2: They lost that game to Mississippi, but it was a
- 4:26Speaker 2: great game right down to the wire. But that kid
- 4:28Speaker 2: now gets an opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially
- 4:32Speaker 2: get drafted by the NFL, where in years past, he's
- 4:35Speaker 2: just a backup to whoever Ohio State's quarterback is.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Really?
- 4:38Speaker 1: Really?
- 4:52Speaker 3: I had the Hurricanes-Stanford over 46.5.
- 4:57Speaker 1: That hit.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I had Hurricanes team total over 35.5.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That hit. And then on Saturday, I did a four-teamer.
- 5:06Speaker 3: Ohio State minus 50.5.
- 5:09Speaker 4: Got dicey at the end.
- 5:10Speaker 1: They covered.
- 5:11Speaker 4: I had FIU plus 14.5 against the USF Bulls.
- 5:17Speaker 3: That was the most amazing cover that I'll ever get
- 5:21Speaker 3: all season long. I don't know if you saw it,
- 5:23Speaker 3: Stu Gatz. I can see Taylor saw it. Literally the
- 5:25Speaker 3: last play of the game, they scored a touchdown. First
- 5:28Speaker 3: of all, USF scored a field goal with less than
- 5:31Speaker 3: two minutes to go that put my parlay out of reach. Right. And...
- 5:37Speaker 3: FIU just goes right down the field because USF is
- 5:40Speaker 3: in the weirdest prevent defense because it doesn't even matter
- 5:43Speaker 3: if they score.
- 5:43Speaker 1: They're going to need to score twice.
- 5:44Speaker 2: It's called the backdoor defense.
- 5:48Speaker 3: It was crazy. I covered that one. And then I
- 5:51Speaker 3: had LSU minus nine and a half. I mean, they
- 5:55Speaker 3: romped over Clemson. And then I had the Florida Gators
- 5:59Speaker 3: minus 26 and a half. Over my own FAU owls,
- 6:03Speaker 3: I have started the college season undefeated.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Stu, does it bother you, the guy who tells you
- 6:09Speaker 5: all his bets win, but he never shares the bets
- 6:11Speaker 5: with you?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yes. Yep. Hawks that guy. Oh, trust me.
- 6:15Speaker 3: You don't want me sharing my bets with you because
- 6:17Speaker 3: you are going to end up losing 98% of the
- 6:19Speaker 3: wagers that I send you. So I'm just celebrating a
- 6:23Speaker 3: Heisman style weekend for myself. Trust me. I've never had
- 6:27Speaker 3: a winning season and I never will. You don't want
- 6:30Speaker 3: me to share my bets.
- 6:31Speaker 1: It happened so infrequently that he just, I couldn't believe it.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it. Wait, so there's South Florida.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I had no business covering that FIU game.
- 6:43Speaker 1: All right. Just so I'm clear.
- 6:47Speaker 2: And I do mind when people do that, except when
- 6:49Speaker 2: Hawk does it, because it happens so infrequently that he
- 6:53Speaker 2: is entitled to brag when he actually, when he gets
- 6:56Speaker 2: it right. But you're saying that South Florida kicked an
- 6:59Speaker 2: unnecessary field goal. They were covering the spread. But they
- 7:04Speaker 2: left two minutes on the clock, played some weird defense.
- 7:07Speaker 2: FIU came back. I call it the backdoor defense, but
- 7:09Speaker 2: they leave the backdoor wide open for FIU to cover.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And you're telling me FIU covered with a touch set. Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 1: it was amazing.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And the weird thing is FIU was content. I'm sorry,
- 7:22Speaker 3: USF was content to run out the clock at the
- 7:25Speaker 3: end of the game, even though they were in scoring
- 7:27Speaker 3: position against FIU again. And FIU, after the two-minute, I
- 7:31Speaker 3: still call it the two-minute warning.
- 7:33Speaker 1: What's it called now?
- 7:36Speaker 5: The two-minute timeout, I think.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Yeah, the two-minute timeout.
- 7:39Speaker 4: They literally made a concerted effort to change that.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Why?
- 7:43Speaker 4: Why is it no longer called the two-minute warning?
- 7:46Speaker 1: It's a great question. I have no idea. Right. Maybe
- 7:50Speaker 1: to make themselves different from the NFL? I have no idea.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Is that one of the dumbest name changes? Remember when
- 7:54Speaker 3: Radio Shack became The Shack?
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Yes.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Or New Coke, but that wasn't really a name change.
- 8:01Speaker 3: It was a branding issue.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Is that.
- 8:05Speaker 3: making certain that the two minute warning is only referred
- 8:09Speaker 3: to as the two minute timeout. Is that one of
- 8:12Speaker 3: the most bizarre name changes of all time?
- 8:16Speaker 2: I like a warning better. I mean, I like to
- 8:18Speaker 2: know there's just two minutes left in your life.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Hey, there's two minutes.
- 8:23Speaker 4: If you want to do something, you're running out of time.
- 8:25Speaker 1: You better do it now. It's a warning.
- 8:29Speaker 4: If I'm on a cruise ship, And it's going down.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 4: Do I want a warning or do I want.
- 8:34Speaker 3: The captain to come on the PA and go, hey,
- 8:37Speaker 3: time out?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Well, I mean, time out, time stops. It's not bad.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Now I don't know which one I want.
- 8:49Speaker 4: You just made a compelling case for the timeout.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I really did over the morning.
- 8:55Speaker 3: But you're saying they can time it out like Superman
- 8:59Speaker 3: can fly backwards and spin the Earth reverse on its
- 9:03Speaker 3: axis and then all of a sudden time goes backwards?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Time back.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Does timeout actually stop time?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Timeout. It stops a clock. But does it actually
- 9:21Speaker 1: stop time? Time infinitum. What the hell am I talking about?
- 9:26Speaker 1: I don't know. Congratulations to you. Big weekend.
- 9:30Speaker 3: You're the number one gambler in the country. I will
- 9:33Speaker 3: send you my picks every week. I'm telling you, though,
- 9:36Speaker 3: do not tail me. Fade my pick.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I think Bear had FIU. Did he not? He told
- 9:42Speaker 1: us FIU? Yeah, I think he did. I want your picks, Hawk.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Send them to us every single Friday if you can.
- 9:48Speaker 4: You want to know what I've already put in?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 9:51Speaker 4: For this coming weekend?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Please. I did put in one wager. Well, two things.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I had Tua Tonga-Vailoa in, now this is weeks ago,
- 9:59Speaker 3: as Comeback Player of the Year.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 3: And the first part, I believe, of that wager at
- 10:07Speaker 3: plus 4,000 hitting is him getting the starting job, which
- 10:12Speaker 3: he did.
- 10:13Speaker 4: So I kind of feel like the ticket is still
- 10:14Speaker 4: in play.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Good.
- 10:17Speaker 3: If you watched him during preseason and joint practices, tickets
- 10:20Speaker 3: not very much in play. But the fact that he
- 10:22Speaker 3: got the starting job, maybe miracles happen. But I did
- 10:26Speaker 3: put in, because they finally listed the player props for
- 10:31Speaker 3: the Dolphins-Raiders game on Sunday, and I parlayed Devon A.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Chan over 105– 105.5 rushing and receiving yards.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 10:44Speaker 4: And one or more anytime touchdown.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Nice.
- 10:50Speaker 4: He's got to be the entire offense for the Dolphins.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Well, my fear is he is the entire offense, and
- 10:55Speaker 2: the defense is going to be geared up to stop him.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I mean, that's obviously, if you're a defensive coordinator, you're
- 11:01Speaker 3: going to go into every Dolphins game going, if we
- 11:03Speaker 3: stop Devon Aitken, we stop the offense. But I kind
- 11:05Speaker 3: of saw it last year with him where he would
- 11:07Speaker 3: just find openings. He would find ways to get into
- 11:09Speaker 3: the end zone.

- 12:07Speaker 6: of things here, college football related. LSU and Lane Kiffin,
- 12:09Speaker 6: that team, what you're hearing this morning.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Is, That's like the Hurricanes in the 80s. That's the
- 12:30Speaker 2: Hurricanes in the 90s. They got swagger. They've got talent.
- 12:35Speaker 2: They've got talent on top of talent. That was LSU
- 12:38Speaker 2: without their NFL players, and they just undressed Clemson on
- 12:41Speaker 2: national TV. I don't know what's going to happen here
- 12:43Speaker 2: to Dabo Sweeney, but you can like Lane Kiffin, dislike
- 12:48Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin's a good coach, and Lane Kiffin
- 12:50Speaker 2: is great at amassing talent, and they have talent that
- 12:54Speaker 2: does remind me of the Canes where they're three deep
- 12:57Speaker 2: at every position.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 12:58Speaker 3: I was having lunch with a friend on Saturday, and
- 13:03Speaker 3: he said to me, so you're rooting for the guy?
- 13:05Speaker 1: And he meant Lane Kiffin. Yes.
- 13:07Speaker 4: And I don't know.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I bet LSU, and I'm not rooting for Clemson, obviously,
- 13:13Speaker 3: because they're in the ACC and I'm a Miami guy,
- 13:15Speaker 3: so I don't mind.
- 13:16Speaker 4: If Clemson is terrible, which they are.
- 13:19Speaker 3: I'm so torn on Lane Kiffin because he's got some
- 13:23Speaker 3: attributes that I like. which is just, Hey, fuck it.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I'm doing what I want to do. And if you
- 13:29Speaker 3: don't like it, that's on you.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:31Speaker 4: But also he's got other attributes that I really dislike.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Like, Hey, fuck it.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I'm doing whatever I want to do. And if you
- 13:38Speaker 3: don't like it, it's on you. I'm so torn on
- 13:41Speaker 3: the guy.
- 13:42Speaker 4: There's times I love him.
- 13:43Speaker 3: There's times I don't like him, but it is indisputable.
- 13:46Speaker 3: His offenses are just something to watch. and the way
- 13:50Speaker 3: that he can amass talent. Now you can try to
- 13:53Speaker 3: figure out on your own how he's able to amass
- 13:55Speaker 3: this kind of talent. That's not, you know, that's, that's
- 13:58Speaker 3: above my pay grade, but you can't argue his success,
- 14:02Speaker 3: but they looked like an unstoppable force.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Crazy. Yeah.
- 14:06Speaker 5: I was at the stadium Hawk and their defense at
- 14:08Speaker 5: times looked like they had like 15 guys out there.
- 14:11Speaker 5: That's how fast they were flying around. Sam Levitt, You
- 14:15Speaker 5: squint a little, he starts to look like Jackson dart
- 14:17Speaker 5: out there.
- 14:18Speaker 1: He really does. He's so talented, man. He's athletic. I mean,
- 14:23Speaker 1: Taylor owns that line.
- 14:25Speaker 3: He owns that line for college football season.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Listen, he did it with Jackson dart.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Um, Trinidad Hubbard, who you saw last night, that's the
- 14:36Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin quarterback, and now he's doing it with Sam Lovett.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I mean, the guy knows how to coach. He's an ass,
- 14:40Speaker 1: but he knows how to coach.
- 14:43Speaker 5: We've overcorrected a bit when Kirk Cignetti goes to Indiana
- 14:46Speaker 5: saying that a coach can win anywhere, because I do
- 14:49Speaker 5: think that the pool of places that coaches can now
- 14:51Speaker 5: win at college football is greater than it's ever been.
- 14:55Speaker 5: But when you see LSU Saturday night in Death Valley,
- 14:58Speaker 5: you understand why somebody like Lane Kiffin leaves Ole Miss
- 15:01Speaker 5: to go to LSU because you can't replicate what they
- 15:04Speaker 5: have in Baton Rouge really anywhere else in the country
- 15:06Speaker 5: outside of maybe like three, four jobs.
- 15:09Speaker 3: I mean, he said it when he got it right.
- 15:11Speaker 3: This is the greatest job in college football. And that
- 15:14Speaker 3: can be debated because I do think there's like is
- 15:18Speaker 3: the Notre Dame head coaching job more high profile than LSU?
- 15:22Speaker 3: it's right up there, and they're very good as well.
- 15:25Speaker 3: But it's certainly up there. For Lane Kiffin, though, I
- 15:28Speaker 3: think this is the job. You can't replicate it, and
- 15:32Speaker 3: the way that the head coach there can literally become
- 15:37Speaker 3: the president of the state is one thing that.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Can't be replicated in a lot of places.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Taylor, what is the best coaching job?
- 15:47Speaker 2: If Lane Kiffin had his choice of coaching jobs, would
- 15:50Speaker 2: it be Notre Dame?
- 15:52Speaker 1: Would it be where he is at LSU? Would it
- 15:54Speaker 1: be Miami? Would it be Alabama? Would it be Texas?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Where do you think?
- 15:59Speaker 5: I think it would have to be some combination of Texas, LSU,
- 16:03Speaker 5: or Alabama. Places where if all the resources were equal,
- 16:08Speaker 5: if NIL was equal, if the boosters were all equal,
- 16:12Speaker 5: whose home field atmosphere takes you over the top? Probably
- 16:16Speaker 5: Penn State is near that conversation of a great game
- 16:20Speaker 5: day atmosphere. But LSU is definitely there. But I think
- 16:24Speaker 5: the perfect thing with Lane Kiffin and the LSU marriage
- 16:27Speaker 5: is LSU fans don't really care if you like them
- 16:31Speaker 5: or not. And Lane Kiffin kind of goes in with
- 16:33Speaker 5: that same personality where the LSU chant, that neck chant
- 16:36Speaker 5: that they do is all about suck that Tigers.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Yep.
- 16:42Speaker 5: And then Lane Kiffin comes out and he's like, Imagine
- 16:45Speaker 5: how good we would be if we had NFL players
- 16:47Speaker 5: when they're absolutely racing Clemson off the field.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Which, by the way, there's not a coach in college
- 16:54Speaker 3: football that would have brought up that swirl, which was
- 16:58Speaker 3: a swirl.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:00Speaker 4: During a halftime interview.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Right.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Other than Lane Kiffin.
- 17:04Speaker 3: He's the only guy who would have referenced it, even
- 17:08Speaker 3: in a joking manner.
- 17:10Speaker 4: He's the only guy who would have done that.
- 17:13Speaker 5: In the lead up to that game in this Clemson
- 17:15Speaker 5: LSU game, it almost felt like, is this going to
- 17:17Speaker 5: be too much of a distraction for this LSU team?
- 17:20Speaker 5: Can the NFL guys play? Can they not?
- 17:22Speaker 4: Will they be added to the roster?
- 17:23Speaker 5: Will they not? How will Lane Kiffin be able to
- 17:25Speaker 5: focus them? Lane Kiffin's at his best when everything else
- 17:28Speaker 5: is a mess.
- 17:29Speaker 3: It's really funny because I had that thought too, because
- 17:31Speaker 3: I did have them as part of my parlay. And
- 17:33Speaker 3: I'm like, man, dude, how about you just concentrate on
- 17:36Speaker 3: the game leading up to it? It's kind of a
- 17:38Speaker 3: big prime time opening game. Like Stop with all the nonsense.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Why don't you just concentrate on the game plan? Then
- 17:45Speaker 3: I watched the game. I'm like, oh, yeah, he got this.
- 17:47Speaker 1: He's okay. Yeah, no, I watched the game.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I started to say that same thing, those same exact
- 17:51Speaker 2: things about Dabo.
- 17:55Speaker 5: He's done at Clemson. I think Clemson has to move
- 17:57Speaker 5: on from us.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Well, no.
- 17:58Speaker 2: So the funny thing about Dabo was, yes, he's done
- 18:00Speaker 2: at Clemson. He was supposed to be the heir apparent
- 18:03Speaker 2: to Nick Saban at Alabama. Like, that's not– Him going
- 18:06Speaker 2: to Alabama or him coaching anywhere after this disaster, he'll
- 18:11Speaker 2: get a job. It will be like a USF job.
- 18:13Speaker 2: But he ain't going to Alabama anymore.
- 18:15Speaker 5: He was supposed to be the next Nick Saban at Alabama,
- 18:17Speaker 5: and then college football changed, and Dabo.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Sweeney just keeps his feet.
- 18:22Speaker 5: He's just dragging his feet saying, I'm not going to
- 18:24Speaker 5: use the transfer portal. I'm not going to use NIL.
- 18:26Speaker 5: And then you have Lane Kiffin who's like, I'll use NIL.
- 18:29Speaker 5: I'll use the transfer portal. We're going to compete for
- 18:31Speaker 5: national championships here.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And go to the NFL.
- 18:35Speaker 4: Got a little cutesy.
- 18:36Speaker 3: It was like back in the 80s or 90s, you know,
- 18:39Speaker 3: when people started to get beepers. And there were always
- 18:42Speaker 3: these guys that go, I don't need a beeper. What
- 18:44Speaker 3: do I need a beeper for?
- 18:45Speaker 1: I'm not a doctor.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I'm not getting a beeper.
- 18:47Speaker 3: And in the meantime, you know, your buddy in high
- 18:49Speaker 3: school has got two beepers.
- 18:51Speaker 4: He's with every girl in high school.
- 18:53Speaker 3: And you're sitting by your phone waiting for it to
- 18:56Speaker 3: ring because you don't even have an answering machine. And,
- 18:59Speaker 3: you know, all of a sudden, I'm the Dabo Sweeney
- 19:02Speaker 3: of high school, Island Park High School.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You got to roll with the times.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Got to roll with the times. Get a fucking beeper.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Uh-huh. Were you aware this was.
- 19:16Speaker 3: You didn't expect that comparison, did you, Taylor? It didn't
- 19:18Speaker 3: really resonate with you.
- 19:20Speaker 1: What's a beeper? What he's saying is Lane Kiffin has
- 19:23Speaker 1: nine beepers. He's got a belt of beepers.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I was honestly going to do it, and I know
- 19:28Speaker 3: Stugatz loves Murray. I was going to do it with
- 19:31Speaker 3: subprime lending. I thought there was a good analogy there,
- 19:33Speaker 3: which is you had some lenders saying, hey, we're not
- 19:36Speaker 3: going to give out these risky loans. And in the meantime,
- 19:39Speaker 3: every other lender is raking in money hand over fist,
- 19:43Speaker 3: money that they know.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Is bad money.
- 19:44Speaker 3: They're never going to get it back, but they're raking
- 19:47Speaker 3: in all this money, and you got you know like
- 19:49Speaker 3: two places going yeah we're not gonna we're not gonna
- 19:51Speaker 3: go into these risky uh these risky loans and all
- 19:54Speaker 3: of a sudden they're out of business and shearson lehman
- 19:58Speaker 3: shearson lehman is the uh dabbo sweeney of the financial
- 20:02Speaker 3: world so.
- 20:05Speaker 4: There you go two references that no one got.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Put it on the poll.
- 20:12Speaker 2: It's Shearson Lehman, the top most sweaty of financial institutions.
- 20:21Speaker 3: I'm going to submit Taylor may not have even ever
- 20:23Speaker 3: heard of Shearson Lehman.
- 20:24Speaker 1: He hasn't. That is so good.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I can't tell if I'm channeling Dennis Miller or Defoe.
- 20:36Speaker 1: He did it with a Sharpie in your mouth, though.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It always hits.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Hawk, were you aware, because this is the big story
- 20:43Speaker 2: from the college football weekend, we'll get out of here
- 20:45Speaker 2: in a second, everyone enjoy their Labor Day weekend, that
- 20:48Speaker 2: what we were watching on TV is different from what
- 20:51Speaker 2: the officials were watching with their clock when we talk
- 20:54Speaker 2: about Michigan and Western Michigan.
- 20:56Speaker 1: But, like, how far off.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Could the clocks possibly be?
- 21:01Speaker 3: Like, am I watching a game that I think is
- 21:03Speaker 3: in the third quarter and the officials know it's in
- 21:07Speaker 3: the fourth quarter? Like, how far off are the clocks?
- 21:10Speaker 3: That was such bullshit. I'm sorry.
- 21:13Speaker 4: They can explain it all they want. They can show
- 21:15Speaker 4: me the angle that they were looking at. How about this?
- 21:20Speaker 3: If the rest of the world is looking at one
- 21:24Speaker 3: clock and you have one hired helper, but you're not
- 21:30Speaker 3: going to have him stare at the same clock the
- 21:33Speaker 3: rest of the world is. He's going to stare at
- 21:35Speaker 3: a different clock. Maybe the system is faulty. Like they
- 21:41Speaker 3: superimpose the clock on the game broadcast. Well, superimpose the
- 21:46Speaker 3: clock from.
- 21:47Speaker 4: The replay center then on the game broadcast.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Don't superimpose some clock that some schlub is running at
- 21:57Speaker 3: the stadium.
- 21:58Speaker 4: How about superimposing the actual clock?
- 22:03Speaker 1: How about we just all adhere to the same clock?
- 22:06Speaker 1: Let's all watch the same clock.
- 22:07Speaker 4: You know, it reminds me of Dick Clark's rockin' New Year's.
- 22:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:11Speaker 3: When I'm looking at my clock, it's 1201, and he's
- 22:15Speaker 3: starting the countdown. Hey, Clark, all my clocks are atomic clocks,
- 22:21Speaker 3: I think. They're all set to the iPhone whatever. I
- 22:24Speaker 3: don't even think Dick Clark was around for the iPhone,
- 22:27Speaker 3: but roll with me on this one. Hey, Clark, how
- 22:30Speaker 3: about you start the countdown when the rest of us
- 22:34Speaker 3: know it's already midnight?
- 22:38Speaker 4: Is Dick Clark the Shearson Lehman of New Year's Eve hosts?
- 22:44Speaker 1: Of beepers.
- 22:51Speaker 5: He has referenced Shearson Lehman, beepers, and Dick Clark's rockin.
- 22:59Speaker 1: New Year's. I want to be clear.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I stand with the little guys in Western Michigan. I
- 23:06Speaker 5: think Western Michigan got robbed. But if I was just
- 23:08Speaker 5: playing devil's advocate here for a second... They put a
- 23:12Speaker 5: second back, and you still gave up a 47-yard Hail Mary.
- 23:15Speaker 1: That's true, yeah.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Hey, is it the hardest thing to stop, I don't know,
- 23:20Speaker 3: two Hail Marys? I mean, that makes it impossible. Like, oh,
- 23:24Speaker 3: they award someone an extra free throw. You're kind of
- 23:27Speaker 3: giving them an easy bucket, right?
- 23:29Speaker 4: Oh, it's an extra free throw. Is it really that
- 23:32Speaker 4: difficult to stop two Hail Marys.
- 23:34Speaker 1: In a span of two minutes? This is giving someone
- 23:36Speaker 1: an extra full-court heave.
- 23:39Speaker 4: Right, exactly. We're going to give you one more full
- 23:42Speaker 4: court heave.
- 23:43Speaker 1: All right, go ahead.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Do your full court heave. And you're Western Michigan. It
- 23:49Speaker 2: felt like you're giving it to Steph. You're giving it
- 23:51Speaker 2: to Draymond.
