- 0:00Speaker 1: You can read her columns. But also she's got a
- 0:01Speaker 1: great website, lizpeak dot com with all sorts of news
- 0:05Speaker 1: and stories and interesting analysis lizpeak dot com. Of course
- 0:09Speaker 1: you're Oliver Television, Liz Peak. How you doing.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I'm terrific.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I'm baited breath to see how this election comes out.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Mark, how about you?
- 0:20Speaker 1: Well, it's impossible to predict anything. We only have these cheap, little,
- 0:23Speaker 1: flimsy public polls, not any really good polls, and the
- 0:26Speaker 1: turnout is so extraordinary that the model they used is
- 0:29Speaker 1: off anyway, So wouldn't you agree anything could happen. We
- 0:33Speaker 1: have no idea what's going to happen.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, I hope something happens other than the obvious, the
- 0:38Speaker 3: obvious being that zoron Mom Donnie has been leading Andrew
- 0:43Speaker 3: Cuomo by double digits up until literally a nanosecond ago.
- 0:48Speaker 3: So ah, yeah, I would It would be very cheering
- 0:52Speaker 3: to have, you know, to have him defeated after all
- 0:58Speaker 3: the publicity that's been thrown about him, which is all
- 1:01Speaker 3: accurate about his lack of experience, his radical policies, et cetera.
- 1:07Speaker 3: It would just be nice to know that voters actually
- 1:09Speaker 3: are thinking and that they are actually not just buying
- 1:13Speaker 3: what this con man is selling. And I say those
- 1:16Speaker 3: words pretty judiciously. I think he is a con man.
- 1:20Speaker 3: If he went to vote in college, it's impossible to imagine,
- 1:25Speaker 3: and he's bright enough to have gone there, et cetera,
- 1:28Speaker 3: that he really believes what he's saying, that he's believes
- 1:31Speaker 3: that he can deliver all these wonderful freebies to people
- 1:35Speaker 3: and not completely wreck the city as he tries to
- 1:37Speaker 3: pay for it. So, you know, I think this guy
- 1:40Speaker 3: is dangerous. I hope that voters agree.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I agree with you, he's a con man. He looks
- 1:45Speaker 1: like a hustler, but maybe he's a con man the
- 1:49Speaker 1: other way. Maybe this whole socialist maybe that was the
- 1:51Speaker 1: con and when he gets in office, he'll just be
- 1:52Speaker 1: a normal mayor.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I think the odds of that are about one in
- 1:57Speaker 3: ten gazillion. Okay, no, no, I mean, the only constraints
- 2:01Speaker 3: on him are going to be reality, and he has
- 2:05Speaker 3: so far had no response when people have challenged him
- 2:10Speaker 3: with the reality that he doesn't have an open checkbook,
- 2:14Speaker 3: that New York already is struggling to cover its stephesis,
- 2:18Speaker 3: that there are tens of thousands of well healed New
- 2:22Speaker 3: Yorkers who have already left, and others in the queue
- 2:25Speaker 3: to leave if he continues to raise taxes. What's so infuriating,
- 2:30Speaker 3: Mark is that there's never a Democrat that says, you know,
- 2:34Speaker 3: what we're.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Doing isn't working.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Piling on lots of regulations and high taxes, it drives
- 2:41Speaker 3: up the cost of living, it drives people out of
- 2:44Speaker 3: the city, particularly when other services like our public schools
- 2:48Speaker 3: are really mediocre at best or terrible at worst. I mean,
- 2:53Speaker 3: wouldn't you think at some point they sit down and say,
- 2:56Speaker 3: you know, maybe we should try a new tax. Let's
- 2:58Speaker 3: look at Florida, where there's no income tax, where people
- 3:02Speaker 3: are moving in droves because the state works, where the
- 3:06Speaker 3: state budget per person is what one half of New
- 3:10Speaker 3: York something like that for no particular reason except New
- 3:13Speaker 3: York is piled on all these mandates and requirements from
- 3:18Speaker 3: the public sector as well as businesses and just inflated
- 3:22Speaker 3: the cost of everything. I mean, that's not a workable approach,
- 3:26Speaker 3: and yet there seems to be no appetite for challenging
- 3:29Speaker 3: that approach.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It's quite disheartening.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You have to say, yeah, we're telling Liz peak. If
- 3:34Speaker 1: you want to be realistic and be practical and use
- 3:36Speaker 1: logic and realistic. I guess you got to go to
- 3:38Speaker 1: people in the private sector, right, I mean, we need
- 3:42Speaker 1: more private sector guys in government. They know to do
- 3:45Speaker 1: that well.
- 3:47Speaker 3: And by the way, find a private sector guy who's
- 3:49Speaker 3: a Democrat who runs for office, you're not going to
- 3:53Speaker 3: And that's why someone like Andrew Cuomo, he isn't going
- 3:57Speaker 3: to go back to running a restaurant or building a
- 4:00Speaker 3: apartment buildings or whatever. He has no trade, almost no
- 4:03Speaker 3: Democrat build up, Blasiol, Lori, lightfoot, name it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: What do they do? The only thing they do is
- 4:09Speaker 2: run again.
- 4:10Speaker 3: And Kamala Harris thinking she should do a reprise of
- 4:14Speaker 3: her absolutely catastrophic presidential run on what basis because she
- 4:19Speaker 3: can't think of anything else to do. These people have
- 4:21Speaker 3: no fallback position, And I mean, is that harsh?
- 4:26Speaker 2: I don't think so.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I really can't think of a Democrat. Very few come
- 4:30Speaker 3: out of the private sector. Remember Obama's White House. One
- 4:34Speaker 3: of the critiques many of us had was there wasn't
- 4:37Speaker 3: a single businessman in the High House. They had no
- 4:39Speaker 3: idea how Obamacare should work, or this program or that.
- 4:43Speaker 3: And by the way, where are we now? We're in
- 4:45Speaker 3: a situation where literally the government is locked down because
- 4:50Speaker 3: Democrats are so angry about the essential failings of Obamacare.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Which turned out not to be.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Something that every what in the country could afford, not
- 5:02Speaker 3: to be accessible to the majority of the country, only
- 5:05Speaker 3: serves seven percent of the country, and even so is
- 5:09Speaker 3: a catastrophe.
- 5:10Speaker 2: So, I mean you just have to say, when do
- 5:12Speaker 2: they ever look at.
- 5:13Speaker 3: The product of their handywork and say, you know, we're
- 5:18Speaker 3: doing something wrong.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that should be the next movement, get
- 5:22Speaker 1: rid of the politicians. The original idea of the Founding
- 5:26Speaker 1: Fathers was citizen legislators, people from the private sector come
- 5:29Speaker 1: in and serve for a while and then go back.
- 5:31Speaker 1: So you know, in Connecticut you got Ned Lamont. Here's
- 5:34Speaker 1: a guy who is in the business world most of
- 5:36Speaker 1: his life, and he's a crazy Democrat, but he gets
- 5:39Speaker 1: very logical at times and very reasonable because he's got
- 5:42Speaker 1: private sector experience. So but the problem is we did
- 5:47Speaker 1: get a guy from the private sector to come in Trump,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and look what they did to him. And I think
- 5:52Speaker 1: part of that has scared off anybody else from the
- 5:54Speaker 1: private sector from coming in. Don't you agree?
- 5:57Speaker 3: Who would want really who would you want to run
- 5:59Speaker 3: for off? I certainly wouldn't know. I mean it is
- 6:02Speaker 3: a crucible and not a very pleasant one. But boy,
- 6:05Speaker 3: talk about a businessman taking over, remember without a doubt,
- 6:11Speaker 3: And you could dislike a lot of the stuff he did,
- 6:13Speaker 3: and I do. Mayor Bloomberg was the best mayor we've
- 6:17Speaker 3: had in New York in my lifetime because he surrounded
- 6:21Speaker 3: himself with equally talented, smart capable people and they really
- 6:26Speaker 3: ran the city very well. Again, I don't like the
- 6:29Speaker 3: bike lanes, and I don't like his obsession with big gulps, etc.
- 6:34Speaker 3: But the reality is Mike was very, very smart, and
- 6:38Speaker 3: he did a very good job running the city. It
- 6:40Speaker 3: was safe and prosperous and attracting all kinds of new
- 6:44Speaker 3: industries and businesses.
- 6:45Speaker 2: When he left and build a Blasio just scorched it.
- 6:49Speaker 2: And how is it?
- 6:50Speaker 3: I guess there's just so many people who are newcomers
- 6:53Speaker 3: to New York and they don't remember how things actually
- 6:57Speaker 3: work in the city and how they did work under
- 7:00Speaker 3: Bloomberg and then they didn't work under Deblasio.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Why would they go to go further down that path?
- 7:05Speaker 2: I can't imagine.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and don't forget Rudy Giuliani who rescued the city from.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Yes, he did a great job too. I agree.
- 7:13Speaker 1: What about New Jersey, You know you got two horrible candidates,
- 7:16Speaker 1: Chittarelli and the Mikey Chow. Then they're not the most
- 7:19Speaker 1: dynamic candidates. So it looks like it's deadlock there. What
- 7:22Speaker 1: do you think will happen?
- 7:24Speaker 2: It does seem deadlocked.
- 7:26Speaker 3: It seems to me Chittarelli has the momentum uh coming
- 7:30Speaker 3: into election day.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Mikey Cheryl just seems like a train wreck.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I mean, there's one extremely good ad they're running about
- 7:38Speaker 3: her when she just can't answer an obvious question. But
- 7:42Speaker 3: you know, this is going This is a race that
- 7:44Speaker 3: may well come down to whether Trump is an assetability
- 7:49Speaker 3: in these sort of borderline toss up areas because all
- 7:55Speaker 3: the advertising, this is what Democrats, this is their brand.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Now.
- 7:58Speaker 3: All they do is run ads about how much they
- 8:01Speaker 3: hate Trump. It's never like, really, here's what we're gonna
- 8:05Speaker 3: do that's better and different. Here is how we're going
- 8:09Speaker 3: to confront the fact that Joe Biden's legacy leftos with
- 8:13Speaker 3: high electricity costs and all kinds of other problems, lots
- 8:16Speaker 3: of illegal migrants, living in our country, et cetera. All
- 8:20Speaker 3: they want to do is to fame Donald Trump. It's
- 8:23Speaker 3: pretty darn thin gruel, But there are an awful lot
- 8:26Speaker 3: of people out there who lap it up and think
- 8:29Speaker 3: it tastes just fine.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So we'll see.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I mean, I think that race could go everywhere either way.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, well, great stuff. Liz Peak has a
- 8:39Speaker 1: wonderful website. You should check it. There's new stories, new
- 8:41Speaker 1: stuff every day. It's lizpeak dot com lizpeak dot com.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And that's the best place to get your column too, right, Yeah.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Yes, I mean today's Fox News column is on my website.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Two days ago I had a Hill column that's on
- 8:57Speaker 3: the website. Yes, thank you, Mark, I appreciate you're mentioning that.
