- 0:47Speaker 2: every Friday. He's with us now.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Hi, Lee.
- 0:49Speaker 2: How are you, sir?
- 0:51Speaker 3: I'm good. I'm real good. Someone just called and asked
- 0:54Speaker 3: if I do Premier League soccer. I'm like, don't you
- 0:57Speaker 3: think I'm busy enough this time of year with baseball, hockey,
- 1:01Speaker 3: and basketball? So I've actually gotten a couple calls. There's
- 1:05Speaker 3: actually a possibility next year we might be doing soccer.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You've got a UFC card coming this weekend. You've got
- 1:12Speaker 2: a full slate of college football. You've got the NFL.
- 1:15Speaker 2: You've got the World Series tonight. You've got regular season
- 1:17Speaker 2: NBA basketball back. Lee, put some more stuff on your plate,
- 1:20Speaker 2: would you?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Okay, no problem.
- 1:24Speaker 2: All right, let's get to the picks this week. Last
- 1:26Speaker 2: week was a wild one in college football, and I
- 1:30Speaker 2: don't know if that can happen two weeks in a row,
- 1:33Speaker 2: but maybe it more upsets Bruin. Let's talk about a
- 1:36Speaker 2: Texas team, Steve Sarkeesian, Arch Manning, back against the wall,
- 1:40Speaker 2: and yet still three-and-a-half-point favorites against Ole Miss. How do
- 1:44Speaker 2: you see it?
- 1:46Speaker 3: I can see a scenario if– they fall behind this
- 1:51Speaker 3: Texas team. And I'm not talking about like, you know,
- 1:55Speaker 3: 20 to 14 or something like that. But if they're
- 1:57Speaker 3: down like 14-0 or 20 to 7, I think there's
- 2:00Speaker 3: a real possibility they're going to replace Arch here. So
- 2:05Speaker 3: they also got problems on the defensive end because Colin
- 2:08Speaker 3: Simmons may be the best defensive player in college football,
- 2:12Speaker 3: over 30 career sacks, only eight and a half sacks
- 2:15Speaker 3: the last, three weeks. He's out for this game. So
- 2:19Speaker 3: Ole Miss is one of those teams coming out of
- 2:21Speaker 3: the bye week. They have been on fire, destroyed. Bandy
- 2:27Speaker 3: up 42-3 at the half there. Shut down a hot
- 2:30Speaker 3: Missouri team. They got Kawan Lacy back now. He got
- 2:34Speaker 3: nicked up in the first half, came back and played
- 2:36Speaker 3: the entire second half. They got maybe the best quarterback
- 2:39Speaker 3: in college football. If he was two inches taller, he'd
- 2:42Speaker 3: be going top two, top three in the draft here.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Wrong team favored, Ole Miss straight up 26-20. All right, I.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Think I agree with that one. Last week, BYU pulled
- 2:53Speaker 2: off one of the biggest wins in program history, at
- 2:56Speaker 2: least as far as the regular season is concerned. Game
- 2:59Speaker 2: day in town, Notre Dame. Number two ranked team in
- 3:02Speaker 2: the country at that moment. And boy, did BYU take
- 3:05Speaker 2: care of business without L.J.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Martin.
- 3:07Speaker 2: They found a way to win, and it came down
- 3:10Speaker 2: to that very last play. Now, forgive me. I hope
- 3:13Speaker 2: you'll indulge me here. Pass interference, Lee. One second left
- 3:16Speaker 2: on the clock, or should we let it lie as
- 3:18Speaker 2: it was? Obviously, nothing's going to go back and change that.
- 3:21Speaker 2: But what was the correct football call there?
- 3:24Speaker 3: Well, interference first. He was mugging the guy. And second off, yeah,
- 3:30Speaker 3: there was one second to go. So give, though, BYU credit.
- 3:36Speaker 3: They were right there, and you can't let it come
- 3:38Speaker 3: down to one play. But I do think that they
- 3:41Speaker 3: should have made the call for interference. But that being said, BYU,
- 3:46Speaker 3: you've got to give these kids credit. They play hard. And,
- 3:50Speaker 3: I mean, their quarterback is not going to be denied play. Now,
- 3:54Speaker 3: most people love UCF. I'm seeing right now over 71%
- 3:59Speaker 3: of the money is coming on UCF. The problem I
- 4:02Speaker 3: can't back them is their starting quarterback, Alonzo Barrett, from
- 4:05Speaker 3: James Madison, it looks like will not play. If he
- 4:08Speaker 3: doesn't play, and Keon Jenkins is a starter, he just
- 4:13Speaker 3: doesn't impress me either way, running or throwing very much.
- 4:15Speaker 3: And how about this, Scott Frost? since day one at
- 4:18Speaker 3: Nebraska and now through his one-and-a-half seasons in the second
- 4:22Speaker 3: tenure at UCF. I mean, backing him is like setting
- 4:26Speaker 3: your money on fire here. I think BYU will find
- 4:28Speaker 3: a way to win and cover 28-20.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Six-and-a-half-point favorites are the BYU Cougs in that one. We'll
- 4:35Speaker 2: get to Utah-Houston, save the best for last. So jumping
- 4:38Speaker 2: into the NFL, the Rams, the preseason Super Bowl favorites,
- 4:42Speaker 2: they've had their struggles. They are four-point favorites overall. against
- 4:46Speaker 2: the Raiders. And if you had shown somebody this line
- 4:49Speaker 2: in the preseason, they would have laughed at you. But
- 4:51Speaker 2: the Rams have been worse than we thought. The Raiders
- 4:53Speaker 2: have been better than we thought. How do you see
- 4:56Speaker 2: this game?
- 4:57Speaker 3: So the Rams right now, I mean, injury-wise, I mean,
- 5:01Speaker 3: they're starting to almost resemble the Philadelphia Eagles. So they're
- 5:07Speaker 3: taking injuries at wide receiver, one of their best two
- 5:09Speaker 3: wide receivers done for a long time. They got some
- 5:13Speaker 3: injuries all along the defensive line, three out of four
- 5:16Speaker 3: starters done for a while. And then, you know, a linebacker,
- 5:21Speaker 3: a secondary, that special teams are a mess here. The
- 5:25Speaker 3: Raiders are literally like one or two plays every game
- 5:29Speaker 3: away from winning. So I think they're starting to put
- 5:32Speaker 3: it together here. I think the running game is starting
- 5:34Speaker 3: to come around and, If they can pound the ball
- 5:38Speaker 3: and if they can take the lead, look out here.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Rams could be sitting at 2-5. Yeah, another wrong team favored.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I like the Rams to pull the upset here 24-21.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Seahawks Chiefs defending Super Bowl champs. The Chiefs is still
- 5:54Speaker 2: the Chiefs apparently and perhaps a Kenneth Walker revenge game
- 5:59Speaker 2: because Seahawks didn't seem to do much to keep him around.
- 6:03Speaker 2: But the Birds are favored. Two and a half points
- 6:06Speaker 2: in this one. Do the Chiefs pull it off?
- 6:10Speaker 3: I think the Chiefs are up against it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Why?
- 6:12Speaker 3: I think this is a must game here for Seattle.
- 6:14Speaker 3: They lose this game, they can pretty much kiss trying
- 6:18Speaker 3: to win the division goodbye. They've got to win this
- 6:22Speaker 3: game here. San Francisco is starting to run away with it.
- 6:25Speaker 3: The Chiefs, they're undefeated. If they lose this game, not
- 6:28Speaker 3: that big a deal. It's not a division game. Their
- 6:31Speaker 3: big game is next week against Denver. So Seattle is
- 6:35Speaker 3: going to be game planning to stop Kenneth Walker. They
- 6:38Speaker 3: know him inside and out. I see some weaknesses in
- 6:42Speaker 3: this Chiefs team. I mean, they've got one receiver.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That's it.
- 6:45Speaker 3: The rest of the other guys, these are guys they
- 6:47Speaker 3: picked up, guys that were on the practice squad. You know,
- 6:50Speaker 3: they're winning games like 19-3, 22-6 on field goals, and
- 6:55Speaker 3: now they're field goal kicker. He's leaking oil. I just
- 6:59Speaker 3: can't back them here. If Sam Darnold could just figure
- 7:02Speaker 3: it out somewhat and not throw two or three interceptions,
- 7:05Speaker 3: I think they're the right side. Tough place to play to.
- 7:08Speaker 3: You're always going to get three, four, five illegal procedure
- 7:13Speaker 3: calls on offense. Just too loud there. So let's go
- 7:16Speaker 3: with Seattle. They win and cover 27-17.
- 7:19Speaker 2: The game of the week, Broncos cards, and the Broncos
- 7:23Speaker 2: are favored four and a half.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yep. Anyone wants to get it for free. How about this?
- 7:28Speaker 3: I don't like this game. I love this game. I
- 7:32Speaker 3: think there's a clear right side. So if you want
- 7:34Speaker 3: to get this huge game, Broncos and Cardinals, just call 800-400-9741.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I'm going to give it to you for free. So
- 7:42Speaker 3: you want to get what I call a max wager release,
- 7:46Speaker 3: Broncos and Cardinals, call that number right now, 800-400-9741. nine, seven, four, one.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And I came up with an idea. I'm like, you know,
- 7:53Speaker 3: I know there's people that are doing football, UFC, maybe
- 7:57Speaker 3: a few doing a few other sports, but not enough
- 8:00Speaker 3: people doing most of them because we're winning at every
- 8:04Speaker 3: single sport. So came up with this first time ever
- 8:07Speaker 3: in 34 years, it's a promotion called the super seven,
- 8:11Speaker 3: seven days. I'm going to give you every selection in football, basketball, basketball,
- 8:17Speaker 3: Baseball World Series, hockey, the UFC, the card from Abu
- 8:23Speaker 3: Dhabi is stacked, and we have two max wagers, a
- 8:26Speaker 3: 40- and a 50-unit play there included with the seven plays,
- 8:30Speaker 3: and all my player props for the World Series, college football,
- 8:35Speaker 3: and NFL. Seven days, it would normally, if you bought
- 8:38Speaker 3: everything individually, over $ 750, just $ 157. You want to give
- 8:45Speaker 3: us a try, good time this weekend. Seven-day offer, the
- 8:49Speaker 3: Super 7, just one place, ParamountSports.com.
- 8:54Speaker 2: All right, that brings us to the game of the week.
- 8:56Speaker 2: College game day decided they wanted to stay in the
- 8:59Speaker 2: state of Utah, back-to-back weeks. Last week, Provo. This week,
- 9:03Speaker 2: Salt Lake City, I drove past the campus and saw
- 9:05Speaker 2: the setup earlier this morning, Lee. Utah, six and a
- 9:10Speaker 2: half point favorites against the number 14 team in the
- 9:13Speaker 2: country in Houston. I really like Wegman. This feels like
- 9:18Speaker 2: a big number for me, but tell me what you think.
- 9:22Speaker 3: I think game day is going to be lit. I mean,
- 9:24Speaker 3: I thought BYU, I thought the fans showed out, and
- 9:28Speaker 3: I think it's going to be as good or better
- 9:30Speaker 3: tonight This weekend, so wish I was there, but got
- 9:34Speaker 3: to be in the home office this weekend. But when
- 9:37Speaker 3: I look at this game, I think Utah's good, but untested. 6-0,
- 9:40Speaker 3: 5-1 against the spread. Haven't had the toughest schedule here.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Now had to come back against Colorado, had to pour
- 9:47Speaker 3: on late against Iowa State and Kansas. Houston's played a
- 9:52Speaker 3: much tougher schedule. Now you look at their wins against
- 9:54Speaker 3: Oregon State and Oklahoma State, those are quality wins. And
- 9:58Speaker 3: just that two-point missing, at Texas Tech. Talk about Conor Wegman.
- 10:02Speaker 3: He was not the guy at Texas A & M. But, boy,
- 10:04Speaker 3: is he coming on right now. I mean, last two
- 10:08Speaker 3: weeks played great. And 20 touchdown passes and six touchdowns.
- 10:15Speaker 3: rushing touchdowns this year, and Houston plays their best ball
- 10:19Speaker 3: on the road here, 6-0 against the spread, the last
- 10:23Speaker 3: six on the road, and they have weapons all over
- 10:26Speaker 3: the field. I think Utah is going to escape here, 31-28.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Devin Dampier just will will his team maybe to win it,
- 10:34Speaker 3: but 6-1. This feels like one of those games, last
- 10:37Speaker 3: team with a ball win, so I'm going to take
- 10:40Speaker 3: the 6-1, but I can see Utah eking out a
- 10:43Speaker 3: 31-28 win.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Well, I don't need him to cover. I just need
- 10:47Speaker 2: him to win this one and prove to 7-0, but yeah,
- 10:51Speaker 2: Houston's a good team. Also, Wegman, he doesn't turn the
- 10:53Speaker 2: ball over. You mentioned his touchdowns. He's only thrown two
- 10:57Speaker 2: interceptions this year, Lee. The kid can play football. It's wild.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, the green light has come on. We talk about
- 11:04Speaker 3: that all the time with quarterbacks, and when a quarterback
- 11:07Speaker 3: finally gets it, and I think he feels finally comfortable
- 11:10Speaker 3: in his own skin. He's He's bounced around. He's had
- 11:13Speaker 3: a bunch of different coaches and coordinators. But I think
- 11:17Speaker 3: right now, I think he's playing great, and I think
- 11:19Speaker 3: he's going to be playing in the NFL. Maybe not
- 11:20Speaker 3: as a starter, but at least as a backup for
- 11:23Speaker 3: many years to come.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Lee, enjoy the weekend. We'll chat again next week. Thank you, sir.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Okay. See you, buddy.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Take care. 800-400-9741, ParamountSports.com. Lee Sterling, best in the business.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I like that. That seven-day, seven-sport thing that he's doing,
- 11:41Speaker 2: that's kind of cool. Gets you sprinkled in across the NHL,
- 11:45Speaker 2: Major League Baseball, NBA, little combat sports, and, of course,
- 11:49Speaker 2: college football and the NFL. He thinks that Utah wins
- 11:53Speaker 2: but Houston covers. That's fine by me.
