Speaker 1: Yep. Now it's time to catch up with Country Weekly,
0:08
where we check out news and gossip from the world
0:10
of country music. I'm your host as always, Ken Dawkins,
0:14
and I will be reading from various sources found online.
0:18
As a reminder, Radio I is a reading service intended
0:20
for people who are blind or have other disabilities that
0:23
make it difficult to read printed material. For the first article,
0:27
we'll go back to Friday, May thirtieth, to the online
0:31
version of the old Parade magazine. Country Legend brings out
0:35
surprise guests during concert For powerhouse performance, Reba McIntyre gave
0:41
fans something to scream about during her concert at Nashville's
0:44
first Music City Rodeo. The fancy hit makers teamed up
0:48
with fellow country singers Miranda Lambert and Leanie Wilson for
0:52
the new song Trailblazer. During her rodeo performance, McIntyre surprised
0:57
the audience by bringing out Wilson and Lambert to promote
0:59
their new new tune. Clips from the surprise performance have
1:02
been making the rounds, of course, on social media. There's
1:06
no question that the women were on fire with the performance.
1:09
It's easy to hear the crowd going wild watching this
1:11
amazing trio do their thing. According to The tennesseean McIntyre
1:15
had a little fun with the audience before announcing her guests.
1:19
Wouldn't it be great if they were here tonight? She
1:21
said of Lambert and Wilson. The crowd erupted in applause
1:25
and screams to answer McIntyre's question. Soon, Wilson and Lambert
1:29
appeared on stage, much to the crowd's delight. McIntyre, Wilson
1:33
and Lambert's rodeo performance comes hot on the heels of
1:35
the three ladies, bringing down the house at the ACM Awards.
1:40
Trailblazer won't be the last music from the three women.
1:43
They have promised that more collaborations will be coming. Now
1:47
we do a giddy up over to countrynow dot com
1:50
with the first article also dated May thirtieth. John Party
1:53
reschedules weekend shows, apologizes to fans. John Party has abruptly
1:59
rescheduled two Indiana shows after falling ill. The country music
2:03
superstar is currently on the road for his Honky Tonk
2:06
Hollywood tour and was originally scheduled to hit the stage
2:09
at the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park in
2:11
Indianapolis on May thirtieth, and then the Ford Center in
2:15
Evansville the next night. According to a new announcement on
2:18
social media, Party was disappointed to let his fans know
2:21
that he was feeling under the weather and would not
2:23
be able to deliver at his best if he tried
2:25
to push through with the shows. Instead, the Indianapolis show
2:28
has been moved to July twenty fifth, in Evansville to
2:32
Saturday the twenty sixth Indianapolis and Evansville. I'm so sorry,
2:37
but I'm sick and I simply won't be able to
2:39
sing at one hundred percent this weekend. All previously purchased
2:43
tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates. My sincere apologies.
2:47
I just want to give you the show you deserve
2:48
and we will have a blast this summer, he added,
2:51
before concluding his message by sharing his gratitude for the
2:53
fans in Toledo, Ohio, who showed up for his concert
2:57
on Thursday night. Thank you to Toledo for coming out
3:00
out and helping me through last night. You guys made
3:02
it amazing. Named after his latest album, the Honky Talk
3:05
Hollywood Tour began with a weekend of shows in Lubbock, Texas,
3:08
and Las Cruces, New Mexico in April. The Friday Night
3:11
Heartbreaker is set to make stops in a total of
3:14
sixteen arenas and amphitheaters across the US, and that'll include
3:18
a stop June fifth in Highland Heights, Kentucky at Truest Arena.
3:22
Back in April, Party announced the extension of the run,
3:25
which will now continue into the fall, with the final
3:27
date being on October twenty fifth in Edinburgh, Texas. A
3:31
combination of special guests including Corey Kant, Cashi Ashton, Jake Worthington,
3:35
and Kolby Akoff will appear as special guests across select dates.
3:39
A portion of ticket sale proceeds from the tour benefit
3:42
the newly established Starlight Fund. Founded with his wife's Summer Party,
3:46
The Starlight Fund supports organizations dedicated to providing opportunities and
3:50
resources specific to young people in need that are pursuing
3:54
a path in the trades, agriculture or construction, and again
4:00
consored in Kentucky will be in Highland Heights at the
4:01
Truest Arena on June fifth. Meanwhile, up in Boston, Jason
4:06
Aldeen and Brooks and Dunn's co headlining show at Fenway
4:10
Park abruptly canceled. Jason aldean one night only co headlining
4:15
show with Brooks and Dunn that was set to take
4:17
place at the iconic Fenway Park up in Boston, has
4:20
been canceled. The artists were scheduled to take the stage
4:23
on Friday May thirtieth, one day prior. The official Instagram
4:27
account for Fenway Concerts posted the news making fans aware
4:31
that the concert will no longer take place. The message
4:33
cited that the cancelation is due to unforeseen circumstances, but
4:38
a later statement by a representative from Live Nation that
4:41
was obtained by Fox News revealed that during a routine
4:44
priest show check, structural elements were identified as not being
4:48
up to standard, so those shows, among other pop shows,
4:51
were canceled. All team members are safe. At the news release,
4:56
local Boston ABC affiliate w WC also shared information from
5:02
sources who explained that the staging fell apart during rehearsal.
5:06
Boston Inspectorial Services then conducted an inspection and found that
5:10
the staging was not structurally sound. In addition to the
5:14
Country concert, as I mentioned, there were others. Shakira was
5:16
also scheduled to perform that night where actually the next night,
5:21
but her set has now been canceled as well. The
5:24
message for that one read due to one for senior circumstances.
5:27
The Shakira and Jason Aldeen and Brooks and dunn performances,
5:30
originally scheduled for May twenty ninth and May thirtieth, respectively,
5:33
at Fenway Park, have been canceled. Any fans who have
5:37
purchased their tickets will receive a refund. The venue concluded
5:40
the post by saying we apologize for the inconvenience. Of course,
5:45
fans flooded the comments section of the post with questions
5:47
and frustrations over the short notice. This is insane. My
5:50
mom flew all the way from Florida to come to
5:52
the concert, one user said. Jason Aldean and Brooks and
5:58
Dunn's highly anticipated concert was also expected to welcome star
6:01
studed openers Nate Smith and ray Lynn. Aldean shared the
6:04
message on his social media pages, but has yet to
6:07
give a comment of his own. A slew of other
6:09
acts are still scheduled to appear at the MLB Ballpark
6:12
throughout the summer, including Hosier, the Lumineers, Thomas Rhett and Moore.
6:17
Redd is currently said to perform on July nineteenth with
6:20
support from Teddy Swims, Tucker Wetmore, and The Castellos. While
6:25
their appearance at Fenway Park was slated to be a
6:27
big night, Brooks and Don and Jason Aldean both have
6:29
plenty of shows left on the books this year. The
6:32
legendary duo will next take the stage in Nashville on
6:35
June fifth as part of CMA Fest. They also have
6:38
a few festival appearances on the books, as well as
6:40
opening slots on Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem Tour. Meanwhile,
6:45
Jason just launched his Full Throttle Tour twenty twenty five.
6:48
The trek kicked off on May twenty third and runs
6:51
through October next. Jelly Roll steals the show with viral
6:56
stage moment you want to see a fat Man Ride
6:59
in Imaginary jelly Roll isn't just known for his powerhouse
7:03
vocals and raw storytelling, He's also got a great sense
7:06
of humor. While opening for Post Malone on the Big
7:08
Ass Stadium Tour, the country star proved that he knows
7:11
how to work a crowd in more ways than one.
7:14
During a recent performance of his upbeat track yet by.
7:17
Jellyroll paused mid song to check in with the audience.
7:20
You don't want to see a fat man ride an
7:21
imaginary pony, he asked with a grin. The crowd instantly
7:25
erupted with cheers, of course, giving him approval for his
7:27
next action. Without missing a beat, jelly Roll turned to
7:30
the side launched into the next verse, all while pretending
7:34
to ride a horse. The moment that was captured and
7:37
shared via TikTok, of course, is just another example of
7:40
why fans love him. Jelly Roll never fails to bring
7:43
heart and humor wherever he goes, even if it means
7:45
galloping across the stage on an invisible horse. The comment
7:49
section of the post was filled with fans commenting on
7:51
how healthy the country singer looks following his major weight
7:54
loss back in April, he revealed he had officially lost
7:57
to that point two hundred pounds and the hardware is
8:00
showing you're looking good. Congratulations, One user wrote, he looks
8:05
so healthy, wrote another, good inspiration, wrote a third. In
8:09
a previous discussion with CMT, jelly Roll shared his excitement
8:12
about hitting the road with post Malone on the stadium trick,
8:15
especially Now that he's reached the point of his health journey,
8:18
his comedic side shined once again as he found himself joking,
8:21
I'm wondering if I lose a little more weight when
8:23
I get to Italy, if they're going to mistake me
8:25
for post malone. He joked it between his weight loss
8:28
and they are similar face tattoos, the mistake and identification
8:32
is inevitable, you know what I mean. Like, if I
8:34
get skinny enough that they just see face tattoos, They're like, uh,
8:38
post post at you. In another conversation with his wife,
8:41
Bunny XO, the Tennessee native explained why it was important
8:44
for him to share an open and honest look at
8:46
this journey with the world. While putting his experience in
8:50
weightless and all the highs and lows that come with
8:53
it on display, he hopes to inspire others. I wanted
8:58
to lose it in front of everybody to talk about it.
9:01
This is constantly what I'm putting in the air because
9:03
I want to bring people along with me. Post Malone
9:06
and Jelly Role officially launched the Big Ass Stadium Tour
9:10
on April twenty ninth in Salt Lake City. The tour
9:13
which celebrates Malone's newest album, F one Trillions, is set
9:16
to run through July, then beginning in August, the pair
9:19
of artists will take the tour internationally with shows across Germany, Romania, Austria, Poland,
9:24
Switzerland and more. Next Inside Kenny Chesney's immersive fan pop
9:30
up Guitars, Tiki Bars and a Whole Lot of Love
9:33
at the Venetian in Las Vegas. Kenny Chesney's currently in
9:37
the midst of his first ever Las Vegas residency at
9:39
the Vegas Sphere, and to celebrate his giving back to
9:42
his legion of fans No Shoes Nation in a big way.
9:46
To celebrate his fans and those who have supported him
9:48
throughout his iconic career, the superstar teamed up with destination
9:52
experience company Vibe to launch a free immersive fan experience
9:56
dubbed Guitars, Tigee Bars and a Whole Lot of Love
10:00
located at the Venetian Resort. This curated experience includes memorabilia,
10:04
interactive exhibits, handwritten lyrics, and over two decades of tour
10:08
artifacts across two stories. There's also a surf shop inspired
10:12
merch store featuring merch from his past tours, as well
10:15
as a brand new collection celebrating the summer of Sphere.
10:19
The best part it's free and no ticket is required
10:22
to enter the experience. It's open Wednesday through Sunday during
10:26
show weeks through the final show on Saturday, June twenty first.
10:31
Back on May twenty third, Chesney made a surprise appearance
10:34
at the Guitars, Tiki Bars and Hold Lot of Love
10:36
pop up, dropping by unannounced for an appearance on Sirius
10:39
Exam This Is on the Highway's Music Row Happy Hour.
10:43
This special event with simulcast on Chesney's No Shoes Radio,
10:47
marking a first ever simulcast for the two channels. During
10:51
his appearance, Kenny Chesney expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone for
10:54
their continued support, making it clear how much it meant
10:57
to him that No Shoes Nations showed up in Vegas
10:59
to celebrate such a major career milestone. Speaking to the
11:03
crowd and fans tuning in around the world, he revealed
11:06
that planning for his Sphere residency began last summer. Looking
11:10
around the room, he joked, this looks a whole lot
11:12
different than when I was here a few days ago.
11:15
With several shows at Sphere, Vegas. Already under his belt,
11:18
Chesney's having the time of his life on stage. Supposedly,
11:21
I knew this was going to be incredible when I
11:23
said yes when they asked me to do this, but
11:25
I had no idea how awesome the experience could actually be.
11:28
He recently shared. More than all the visuals that dialed
11:31
in sound though, it's getting to share this stage with
11:34
a lot of people I love, including everyone in No
11:37
Shoes Nation who came to Vegas to be part of
11:39
this unbelievable moment. Kenny Chesney, who will soon become a
11:43
member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, is the
11:45
first country act to perform at the Sphere. Next. Hudson
11:50
Westbrook announce his debut album, Texas Forever. Rising Texas country
11:55
artist Hudson Westbrook has officially announced his debut album, Texas Forever,
12:00
that would be arriving on July twenty fifth. That's via
12:03
Warner Music, Nashville and river House Artists. The news of
12:07
the Milestone project comes just thirteen months after his first
12:10
ever release. The entire seventeen song track list was co
12:14
penned by Westbrook and offers a heartfelt tribute to the
12:17
lone star state, blending small town storytelling with true emotional depth,
12:22
with themes rooted in family, young love, heartbreak, and heart
12:24
earned wisdom. Texas Forever was inspired by Westbrook's Texas upbringing
12:29
and stories that reflect the current phase of his life.
12:32
I'm so proud of this record, Westbrook says. I love Texas.
12:35
It's shaped so much about who I am. We wrote
12:38
fifty to sixty songs for the project and narrated down
12:41
to seventeen that I think really represent where I am
12:43
in my life right now and what I love making
12:46
as an artist. Songs that sound like where I grew
12:49
up but read like something that just about anyone could
12:51
relate to. Crafted with a tight knit team of collaborators
12:55
including Neil Medley, Lucas Scott, Reid Houghton, Andrew de Roberts,
12:59
baw Bailey, and more, the album showcases Westbrook's charm and
13:03
raw storytelling as he captures his experience with hard work,
13:06
personal struggles, young love, and more. I've been waiting for
13:10
what feels like forever to tell you all about this,
13:12
he continues. I can't wait for you to hear it
13:14
and to play it for you on the road. This summer,
13:17
giving fans a preview of what's to come. The album's
13:19
title track, Texas Forever, is out now, a slow burning
13:22
ballad filled with classic country imagery. The song pairs a
13:25
set of poetic lyrics with fiddle driven instrumentation. Westbrook sings
13:30
from the perspective of someone who feels the pull of
13:32
the open road, but in doing so, they know they're
13:34
leaving behind a slew of memories made alongside someone who
13:37
once held his heart. The Texas Forever track list title
13:41
cut Texas Forever. Darling painted you pretty funny Seeing you
13:45
hear fool Mama raised a winter house again, Lie to Me,
13:50
Burning Love, damn good Taste and whiskey only Girl, first
13:54
time weather Man sober, dressed down, Mind Tomorrow and He'll
13:59
I'll die on Now. We move over to saving Country
14:03
music with the first article dated May thirty. First the
14:06
new Tyler Childer's album will be produced by Rick Rubin.
14:11
Tyler Childers will have a new album coming out soon
14:13
and legendary producer in music guru Rick Rubin will be
14:16
the man in the control room. According to the chairman
14:19
CEO of Tyler's label, RCA Records, in a blurb in
14:23
a recent interview with Peter Edge of RCA via Hits
14:26
Double Daily. That's Hits Daily Double Edge spills the beans.
14:30
I'm really excited about Tyler Childer's new album, which is
14:33
produced by Rick Rubin. He defies expectations and this new
14:36
album goes even further. The great thing about Tyler is
14:39
that he does it the way he wants to do it.
14:42
He's playing giant venues and he's making the music he
14:44
wants to make. The answer by Peter Edge was to
14:47
the question of what RCA might have coming up in
14:49
the next few months, which means we might get an
14:52
announcement and a new single from Childers soon. Tyler's first
14:56
couple of label releases, Purgatory from twenty seventeen and Country
15:00
Squire from twenty nineteen, were produced by Sturgel Simpson. His
15:04
next releases, Long Violent History from twenty twenty, Can I
15:08
Take My Hounds to Heaven twenty twenty two, and Rustin
15:10
in the Rain twenty twenty three were produced by Tyler
15:13
Childers himself with his band The Food Stamps. Though Childress
15:17
has emerged as an arena level artist, he's yet to
15:20
match the commercial success of twenty seventeen's Purgatory, which remains
15:25
one of the most popular titles in all of country music.
15:27
Eight years after its release, the album was still in
15:30
the top forty at number thirty seven of Billboard Country
15:34
Album's chart last week. Production hasn't really been the issue
15:38
with Tyler's most recent albums, but a lack of new
15:40
original songs. Most of his recent albums have included songs
15:44
he wrote and performed originally many years previous, or cover songs.
15:48
Time will tell, According to Saving Country Music, if Rick
15:51
Rubin will be able to work his musical magic on Childers,
15:54
stay tuned for more when it becomes available next. Rodney
15:59
crowd jawas inspiration from collaborators on upcoming album. Roddie Crow
16:04
has been on the most inspiring and influential characters in
16:08
the history of country music, and a career that now
16:10
spans well over fifty years. From a side player to
16:13
his songwriter, to a producer, to a number one song
16:16
performer to a founder of Americana, Crow has just about
16:20
done it all and in transformational ways, even if many
16:23
of those efforts ended up being in secondary roles or
16:26
under the radar. At seventy four years old, Crow is
16:29
still refusing to pack it in and still has plenty
16:32
to say and for his upcoming album Airline Highway taking
16:35
Flight August twenty ninth via New West Records, he's getting
16:38
a lot of lyft from collaborators who appear with him
16:41
on the project. This record is a document of me
16:44
falling in love with these musicians, says Kroll. That's one
16:47
of the great perks of this job, falling in love
16:49
with the people you're playing with, and we caught that
16:51
on tape. Those musicians include Ashley McBride, who appears on
16:55
the album's debut track, taking Flight, that she also co
16:58
wrote Lucas Nelson on Rainy Days in California. He also
17:02
co wrote with Crowll BlackBerry Smokes Charlie Starr, who sings
17:06
on Heaven Can Help You, while Rebecca and Megan Lowell
17:09
from Lark and Poe contribute harmonies and slide guitar throughout
17:13
the record. Another contributor Carall was excited to collaborate with
17:18
was guitarist Tyler Bryant from the band A Shakedown, who
17:22
also plays on the album acts as producer. After working
17:26
on Demos and such and Kroll's own studio as well,
17:28
as Bryant's. They settled into the Dockside Studio in Maurice,
17:32
Louisiana to record the album proper. They felt the location
17:35
gave the record a swampy attitude that they were looking for.
17:39
Rodney crow grew up in the Houston, Texas area and
17:41
would head over Louisiana border for music and underage drinking
17:44
in his formative years. This would lead to his lifelong
17:47
passion for music that resulted in Rodney's name being attributed
17:51
to fifteen number one songs, five in a row as
17:54
a performer himself, along with tracks from folks like will
17:57
and Jennings, George Strait, and even more contemporary performers like
18:01
Tim McGraw and Keith Urban. Willie Nelson has also been
18:04
a Krowll fan and recently raised an album, Oh What
18:08
a Beautiful World as a Rodney Crowll tribute. Airline Highway
18:12
is now available for pre order. The track list Rainy
18:16
Days in California featuring Lucas Nelson, Louisiana, Sunshine, Feeling Okay
18:20
featuring Lark and Poe, Sometimes Thang, Some kind of Woman
18:25
Taking Flight featuring Ashley McBride. Simple, you wouldn't call it
18:29
simple the twenty one song Salute Oh to gg Shin
18:32
and Kleoma Falcon featuring Tyler Bryant, Don't Give Up on
18:37
Me Heaven Can You Help? Featuring Charlie Starr, and Maybe
18:42
Somewhere Down the Road Next. Miranda Lambert named official Texas
18:48
State Musician for twenty twenty five. Lynndale, Texas native Miranda
18:52
Lambert is officially the Texas State Musician Non Classical for
18:57
twenty twenty five. According to the Texas Commission on the
19:00
the Arts and the Texas State Legislature, the designation honors
19:04
individuals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence in their artistic disciplines.
19:09
The Texas State Musician serves as the state's highest recognition
19:12
for artistic achievement and provides artists with statewide recognition and
19:17
opportunities to participate in TCA events and promotions. The appointments
19:22
are one year terms, and artists are selected based on
19:25
nominations submitted by the public, which are then reviewed by
19:28
an evaluation panel. Final selections are made by the Texas
19:32
Poet Laureate, State Musician and State Artist Committee, composed of
19:35
members appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Speaker of
19:38
the Texas House of Representatives. Along with being one of
19:42
the most awarded artists in country music history by the
19:44
CMA and ACM Awards, Miranda Lambert is one of the
19:47
most recognized performers in all of country music, with a
19:50
career now spanning twenty five years. Most important, though, Miranda
19:54
Lambert has recently become critical to Texas creating its own
19:57
independent music industry. Texas musicians don't always have to venture
20:01
to Nashville to find label representation. In November of twenty three,
20:06
Miranda Lambert founded Big Loud Texas with songwriter and producer
20:10
John Randall. The label has since signed native Texas Native
20:14
Texans Dylan Gossett and Jake Worthington. Earlier this week, Big
20:19
Loud Texas opened the Big Loud Texas House in Austin
20:22
as a multifunctional space housed in an historic home built
20:25
in the late eighteen hundreds. Not only will it be
20:27
used for daily operations for Big Loud Texas, it is
20:30
being made available for the Texas creative community to use
20:33
as a collaborative space for meetings, songwriting sessions, showcases, and more.
20:38
This speaks to how Miranda Lambert is helping to create
20:41
Texas as an alternative to Nashville. Lambert's latest album, Postcards
20:45
from Texas, marked a return to her Texas roots, and
20:49
she recently collaborated with up and coming Texas artist Hudson
20:52
Westbrook on the song House Again. Now we jump on
20:55
the bus to get to taste of country. With the
20:57
first article dated June third, Ashley McBride Cody Johnson to
21:02
host CMA Fest on ABC. CMA Fest is coming to
21:07
television with a new host in twenty twenty five. Ashley
21:10
McBride will return to help recap the four day concert series,
21:14
which is over this weekend started Thursday, but this year
21:17
shall be joined by Cody Johnson. This is Johnson's first
21:20
time hosting CMA Fest on television or any televised country
21:24
music event. The Fault singer was a CMA Male Vocalist
21:27
of the Year nominee back in twenty twenty four. As always,
21:31
this year's CMA Fest lineup is stacked with country music headliners.
21:35
Keith Urban, Kelsey Ballerini, Jason Aldean and Dirk Spentley were
21:38
among the first performers announced, but stars including Luke, Bryan Blake, Shelton,
21:43
Darius Rucker, Rascal Flats and Brooks and Dunn were quickly added.
21:47
Johnson and McBride will also perform CMA Fest twenty twenty five.
21:52
As I said, begin began this week. The four day
21:55
event runs through June eighth. Nightly Nissan Stadium shows or
21:59
the centerpiece of CMA Fest, but there are stages and
22:02
events happening across downtown Nashville. Dozens of country music arts
22:06
will perform, and fans get a chance to interact with
22:09
stars during signings and other events. This is also a
22:12
popular week for fan club parties. The televised event will
22:17
air a little later in the month. CMA Fest, presented
22:20
by Sofi, is coming to ABC on June twenty sixth
22:23
at eight p m. It will stream the next day
22:26
on Hulu. Other stages include the Chevy Riverfront Stage, where
22:30
Gabby Barrett, Maddy and Tay Tucker Wetmore and the Warren
22:33
Treaty will lead performances at the Doctor Pepper Amp stage
22:36
at a Sane Park, fans will find Rodney Atkins, Blanco Brown,
22:40
Danielle Bradbury, and Moore. Typically, the televised portion of the
22:44
show highlights Nissan Stadium with select performances from the other
22:48
stages and some of the downtown Nashville. Honckey talks next.
22:53
American Idol star Alex Miller's drummer killed in shooting near
22:58
the Kentucky border. Traditional country singer Alex Miller's drummer, Mark
23:03
Laws is dead after being shot at a home in
23:06
Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. A twenty five year old has been
23:09
charged with criminal homicide, and the former American Idol star
23:13
says he's heartbroken. Mark Laws, sixty two, was shot and
23:17
killed on Sunday, May twenty fifth. The Tennesseean reports that
23:20
he's worked as Miller's drummer and bandleader for five years.
23:24
He previously played for a Little Jimmy Dickens, Larry Cordle,
23:27
Bill Carlyle, and others. My granddad once told me you'll
23:31
have lots of friends in your life, but trying to
23:34
find one real friend is something that is rare and special,
23:37
Miller wrote on Instagram on Tuesday night. My granddad was
23:40
a true friend and so is Mark Law's Law's stepson,
23:44
Maxwell Maiden, has been charged by Claiborne County Sheriffs. Southeast
23:48
Kentucky radio station w r I l f M shares
23:52
that Maydan and his grandparents lived together. On Sunday, they
23:55
began to argue and it escalated. The alleged shooter also
23:59
shot his own hand and was transported to a local
24:01
hospital for treatment. Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, is in northeast Kentucky,
24:06
of course, right along the border of Kentucky and Virginia.
24:09
His loss to me is devastating, Miller tells fans please
24:12
pray for his family and for me. Miller's grandfather, G. B. Miller,
24:17
died in July of twenty twenty two. While not a
24:19
true finalist on American Idol, the Kentucky native has continued
24:23
to thrive since season nineteen. In twenty twenty one, he
24:27
was voted off the show for refusing to bend away
24:29
from his traditional country and bluegrass sound, a move that
24:32
would endear him to that audience. Miller Time in twenty
24:36
twenty two is his only full length release, but he
24:39
dropped several EPs and singles in the years since. Earlier
24:43
this year, he released The Bird, a collaboration with and
24:46
a tribute to nineties country hit maker Tracy Bird. Next,
24:52
Ellen Langley issues a public apology after making an oopsie
24:55
on stage. Ellen Langley says she doesn't know what to
24:59
say after an ni stage gaff during a recent stop
25:01
as direct support to Riley Green's Damn Country Music tour.
25:05
Langley was the third of four acts performing that night.
25:08
Of course, Green's set was last, and Wyatt mccobbn and
25:11
Vincent Mason performed first in the night. So when Langley
25:14
got on stage, of course she shouted out the artists
25:17
who were on stage before her. Only it wasn't Mason's
25:20
name that she called out into the crowd. It was
25:22
Hudson Westbrook's. Westbrook, an other rising star we've talked about
25:27
the show, is currently busy on other tours. He's got
25:29
gigs with Ian Musk and Parker McCollum this year, as
25:33
well as some solo shows according to his tour calendar.
25:36
But he's definitely not out on the road with Langley
25:38
and Green. After the fact, Langley took to social media
25:42
to issue a public apology. I made an oopsy and
25:45
the problem is that oopsey was so strange because I
25:48
have no idea why, she admits in a video that
25:50
looked like it might have been filmed on her bus
25:52
after the show, Langley recounted that after she called Westbrook's name.
25:56
The crowd cheered, but they seemed a little confused. Ye,
26:00
so public apology and sorry, sorry Vincent, She continues, cracking
26:03
up Hudson, shout out to you, and then Vincent, I'm sorry. Fortunately,
26:07
both Mason and Westbrook seem to take the moment in
26:09
stride literally. Who is Vincent Mason? Mason jokes in the
26:13
comments section of Langley's post, I'll take the shout out
26:16
any day, Westbrook adds. Langley's video also shows a clip
26:20
of her apologizing to Mason personally after the show. I
26:23
don't even know what to say. You can hear her
26:25
saying in the clip as Mason responds it's okay and
26:28
pulls her in for a hug. I'm not used to
26:30
having openers perform for me at all. I'm used to
26:32
being the first one. Sorry, she adds at the end
26:35
of the video. Finally, Tim McGraw's daughters share emotional moment
26:40
on stage, singing with dad. Tim McGraw made his return
26:43
to the stage a family affair after a year of
26:45
surgeries kept him off the mic. The country singer played
26:48
the inaugural Music City Rodeo on Saturday, and surprise the
26:52
crowd with his three daughters as special guests. Three not
26:55
so little girls, Audrey, Gracie, and Maggie stood at dad's
26:58
right to perform, and they performed Last Dollar Flyaway. The
27:02
song's a special one as they sang on the recorded
27:04
version when they were young. Just a few lines in,
27:07
you can see the tears start to flow, especially from
27:10
oldest daughter Gracie, who's standing in the middle. The music
27:13
video for the track played on the big screen behind them,
27:16
and the three of them were surprised to hear their
27:18
childhood voices coming from behind them. That's when it really
27:21
became emotional, as the gravity of the moment all together
27:24
singing with their dad set in. The daughters embraced each
27:27
other before joining in a long hug with McGraw. McGraw
27:31
and his wife Faith Phill have three daughters, Gracie twenty eight,
27:34
Maggie twenty six, and Audrey twenty three. All three have
27:38
launched their own careers, with two embracing their artistic sides.
27:42
Gracie has been pursuing her dreams being on Broadway and
27:46
even landed her first role in the musical Babe. Maggie
27:49
tends to stay out of the spotlight more than her sister's,
27:52
but her LinkedIn page says she is a lead intelligence,
27:55
research and policy adviser at Earth League International's for Suing Music.
28:01
After releasing a cover of Neil Diamond's nineteen seventy one
28:03
song I Am I said, she shared her own song
28:07
Thunder on May thirtieth. This concludes the reading of Country

Weekly for this week. If you have any comments or
28:15
suggestions about the program, call us please at eight five
28:18
