- 0:09Speaker 1: What's up, everybody. Welcome into another edition of the Czech Odily.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's Andrew decheco here, Eagles beat reporter for Inside the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Birds dot Com. We're gonna start to get into some
- 0:18Speaker 1: draft coverage here and we're not gonna get too far
- 0:20Speaker 1: in the weeds thus far.
- 0:22Speaker 2: That'll be next week and beyond.
- 0:25Speaker 1: We're really gonna have a deeper podcast, specifically on the
- 0:28Speaker 1: wide receivers because there are so many in what is
- 0:31Speaker 1: a very rich class. But I want to go over
- 0:34Speaker 1: a number of players, two offensive tackles and two tight
- 0:40Speaker 1: ends that I wanted to really focus on today that
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'll be interested to keep an eye on next week.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm hoping to speak to any or all of those
- 0:49Speaker 1: players next week, and we'll start with the tight end
- 0:53Speaker 1: position because the Eagles have Dallas Goddard, Kylin Grants, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: Grand Kakata all with expiring contracts. We've talked at length
- 1:02Speaker 1: about that, but the Eagles are going to have to
- 1:05Speaker 1: address this position in the draft that there's no getting
- 1:08Speaker 1: around that, and I don't know that you can wait
- 1:10Speaker 1: until day three in order to do so. While there
- 1:13Speaker 1: are players who can help in theory, on day three,
- 1:16Speaker 1: the Eagles need to add a player on day one
- 1:19Speaker 1: or day two that can be a surefire option, whether
- 1:24Speaker 1: they're the immediate successor to Dallas Goddard or whether they're
- 1:28Speaker 1: his understudy for a season. And there's two players in particular,
- 1:31Speaker 1: one being Oregon's Kenyon Sadik six foot three, two hundred
- 1:36Speaker 1: and forty five pounds. He's just twenty years old, really
- 1:39Speaker 1: athletic player. He's chiseled, looks like a linebacker. I guess
- 1:44Speaker 1: you could say good run after the catch. He offers
- 1:48Speaker 1: an appealing range of routes that he can run, diverse
- 1:53Speaker 1: route tree, and I think that when you look at
- 1:58Speaker 1: his ability to attack the catch point. He played in
- 2:03Speaker 1: forty two games, so he liked the experience. Eighty catches,
- 2:07Speaker 1: eight hundred and ninety two yards and eleven touchdowns.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Productive career there.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It wasn't necessarily the most pass happy offense, but that's
- 2:17Speaker 1: a really productive career. And where I look at where
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Eagles stand at twenty three, Yeah, he might fall
- 2:23Speaker 1: within that range, he may go a little bit higher.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I happen to think that he's gonna test well at
- 2:29Speaker 1: the NFL Scotting Combine and all bets are off. Is
- 2:32Speaker 1: again a young player with immense upside and certainly the
- 2:37Speaker 1: head of the class in terms of the tight end position.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I like him quite a bit. It's hard to find
- 2:42Speaker 1: flaws in his game.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:44Speaker 1: The downside, I would say is that he's a willing blocker,
- 2:47Speaker 1: but there's areas of opportunity there. Sometimes will also lose
- 2:51Speaker 1: focus when it comes to rewing in some passes. So
- 2:55Speaker 1: that's an area that I think you get him into
- 2:58Speaker 1: a system.
- 2:59Speaker 2: He worked with the ends coach and you dial that in.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I don't know that that's going to be a problem
- 3:04Speaker 1: considering all of the other attributes that he brings to
- 3:07Speaker 1: the table in terms of route diversity, explosiveness, run after
- 3:11Speaker 1: the catch. There's not a route that he can't run,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and he has the frame to be able to go
- 3:16Speaker 1: up and get the football. Really really liked his tape,
- 3:19Speaker 1: and I think that's somebody that is near the top
- 3:22Speaker 1: of my list of those who I want to hear
- 3:23Speaker 1: from when I'm out there in Indianapolis at the NFL
- 3:26Speaker 1: scouting combine. The other player who's probably a more realistic
- 3:29Speaker 1: fit for the Eagles would be Max Clair.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Spent last season at Ohio State.
- 3:34Speaker 1: He transferred there after spending the early part of his
- 3:36Speaker 1: career at Purdue, forty three catches four hundred and forty
- 3:41Speaker 1: eight yards and two touchdowns.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Last season.
- 3:43Speaker 1: He was a first team All Big Ten Conference selection.
- 3:47Speaker 1: In twenty twenty four, Perdue fifty one catches six' eighty
- 3:50Speaker 1: five And I think you look at the production for
- 3:56Speaker 1: two years, it's not a flash in the pan. He
- 3:58Speaker 1: kind of reminds me a little bit zach Ertz and
- 4:00Speaker 1: his ability to run routes, find the sawt spots in zone.
- 4:04Speaker 1: He can play through contact. I think he's a little
- 4:06Speaker 1: bit of a better blocker than zach Ertz is. But
- 4:10Speaker 1: this is a player that I think really will fit
- 4:12Speaker 1: what the Eagles are looking to do. And bear in
- 4:15Speaker 1: mind that the run game courdator Ryan Mahaffy, and you
- 4:20Speaker 1: also have him as the tight ends coach. That could
- 4:23Speaker 1: be a sense of marrying the run game in the
- 4:26Speaker 1: past game and that could put more of an emphasis
- 4:29Speaker 1: on the blocking aspect of what they're looking for at
- 4:31Speaker 1: that position. Max Clair can give you plus ability as
- 4:36Speaker 1: a blocker as well. And I think if you're looking
- 4:39Speaker 1: at the second round or top of the third and
- 4:43Speaker 1: it's early or in February, a lot can change stocks
- 4:47Speaker 1: tend to rise and fall over the next couple of months,
- 4:51Speaker 1: but that's kind of the range that I have him at.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I think he would be a really good option, if
- 4:55Speaker 1: not as a starter in year one, being the under
- 5:00Speaker 1: study to someone like a Dallas Goddard for one season,
- 5:05Speaker 1: then the offensive tackle group.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Look.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I talked a lot about Caden Proctor from Alabama, six
- 5:10Speaker 1: foot seven, three hundred and sixty six pounds, heavy hands,
- 5:13Speaker 1: He's a maller, but all that being said, I'm not
- 5:17Speaker 1: quite sure if he would be a scheme fit or
- 5:19Speaker 1: a desirable fit based off of the assumptions that we're
- 5:25Speaker 1: gleaning in terms of how they may look to craft
- 5:31Speaker 1: the run game and some of the profile that they
- 5:34Speaker 1: may have or covet in terms of the offensive lineman.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I think he would be a tremendous fit under Jeff Stoutlin,
- 5:41Speaker 1: and I think Jeff Stoutlin would have him playing at
- 5:44Speaker 1: a fairly high level early on. And I think that
- 5:47Speaker 1: Proctor can also offer guard potential as well. But I
- 5:53Speaker 1: think he would be a good pick at twenty three regardless.
- 5:56Speaker 1: But I think there's another player that I wanted to
- 5:58Speaker 1: talk about who I haven't mentioned yet, and that is
- 6:01Speaker 1: Monroe Freeling from Georgia. Now, he started just sixteen games
- 6:06Speaker 1: over the past two seasons twenty four and twenty five,
- 6:11Speaker 1: but last season he started twelve games, appeared in thirteen.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I like his length at six foot seven, three hundred
- 6:18Speaker 1: and fifteen pounds, and when you're talking about the style
- 6:21Speaker 1: of offensive lineman, he is a star contrast to a
- 6:24Speaker 1: Caden Proctor. This is a very quick player, not nearly
- 6:27Speaker 1: as powerful, but he has the length, he has the athleticism.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I like his lateral quickness.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And his fluidity being able to move horizontally, which I
- 6:36Speaker 1: think is going to be paramount. I go back to
- 6:39Speaker 1: what we're expecting Sean Manny and Ryan Mahaffey to sort
- 6:43Speaker 1: of craft in terms of adding some spice to the
- 6:47Speaker 1: running game and adding a little bit more.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Diversity to the rushing attack.
- 6:53Speaker 1: And if you're going to do that and you're looking
- 6:55Speaker 1: at more outside zone stretch plays and things like that,
- 6:59Speaker 1: ideally you want more athletic linemen, and I think someone
- 7:02Speaker 1: like a Monroe Freeling would really fit the bill there.
- 7:05Speaker 1: He's another player I'm really intrigued with, doesn't have nearly
- 7:09Speaker 1: the experience that you want, and I think that he
- 7:12Speaker 1: leaves something to be desired.
- 7:13Speaker 2: From a technical standpoint.
- 7:14Speaker 1: He's not as physical in the run game as you
- 7:17Speaker 1: might like to see. But this is somebody that is
- 7:20Speaker 1: going to require a coach to develop him.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But I think when you look at.
- 7:23Speaker 1: The athleticism there, that's some things that can't be taught.
- 7:28Speaker 1: He's able to bring some traits to the table that
- 7:33Speaker 1: I think would really lend itself favorably to the way
- 7:37Speaker 1: that the Eagles are looking to play offensive football in
- 7:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty six and beyond.

- 12:20Speaker 1: So I like what he can potentially do and then
- 12:24Speaker 1: we're going to get to wide receivers.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Not today.
- 12:26Speaker 1: There are so many whether we're talking about Carnal Taine
- 12:29Speaker 1: Tait from Ohio State, Denzel Boston from Washington, Malchi Feels
- 12:34Speaker 1: from Notre Dame, KC. Conception from Texas A and M.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Chris Bell from Louisville, Chris Brazil from Tennessee. My guy,
- 12:43Speaker 1: Omar Cooper Junior, who I really like because he's someone
- 12:47Speaker 1: who is going to thrive yards after the catch I've
- 12:50Speaker 1: talked about him. I had a mock to the Eagles
- 12:53Speaker 1: in the second round. I think he offers a ton
- 12:56Speaker 1: of explosiveness and you can find different ways to get
- 13:00Speaker 1: him the football, and he's really tough to bring down
- 13:04Speaker 1: in space, physical after the catch, and a different type
- 13:07Speaker 1: of player, sort of a more of a compact build.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But I do believe that he's a three level threat
- 13:12Speaker 1: and he's coming from Indiana, so he played the game
- 13:16Speaker 1: at the highest level last season.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Of course, But we'll get into more wide receivers.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I can do a whole podcast on the wide receivers
- 13:22Speaker 1: and break that all down for you, and I will,
- 13:25Speaker 1: but that won't be until a little bit further down
- 13:27Speaker 1: the road. But right now, that's where I just named
- 13:29Speaker 1: a handful of prospects and I'm really curious to learn
- 13:32Speaker 1: more about next week when I'm in Indianapolis for the
- 13:35Speaker 1: NFL Scouting Combine, and that is going to do it
- 13:38Speaker 1: for this edition of the Czech Odally, I'm Andrew Dechecko,
- 13:41Speaker 1: and I'll catch you all on the next one.
