Kurtz Out After Return, Forearm Bruise | Oakland Athletics News
Athletics’ first baseman Nick Kurtz was hit by a 95 mph pitch in the first inning, forcing him out of Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox — a tough blow after he’d just returned from a sprained thumb. Already a key contributor with a .260 average, 21 homers, and 77 walks (third in the league), his sudden injury threatens the team’s momentum. Diagnosed with a bruised forearm, the extent and timeline of his absence remain uncertain, but fans and coaches alike hope this isn’t a setback that derails his season or the A’s playoff push.
