- 0:00Speaker 1: Oh we going. Didn't didn't, didn't, didn't do tennis is
- 0:05Speaker 1: my favorite? What about you?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Sometimes it's my favorite when it's doing fun things.
- 0:12Speaker 2: It's like a Wimbledon You.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Please. It cannot freestyle to save her life.
- 0:21Speaker 2: She is not a freestyler, more of a white.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Oh actually not ah me. Here we are Wimbledon edition
- 0:31Speaker 1: of the Pod. Oh well, I could start with a
- 0:33Speaker 1: tennis adjacent story if you would like.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's tennis adjacent. Tennis adjacent, fairly tennis related.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Another etiquette thing I always find myself in very Larry
- 0:43Speaker 1: David esque situations. You have to curb your enthusiasm. Music
- 0:48Speaker 1: playing over this. The checking out of.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Hotels more hotel.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah, well, we live our life. Yeah, we do hotels
- 0:57Speaker 1: and traveling. It's either airplanes or hotels of them. Why
- 1:01Speaker 1: don't we just leave the card in the room and
- 1:03Speaker 1: leave the hotel?
- 1:04Speaker 2: I often do that?
- 1:05Speaker 1: You do?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:06Speaker 1: Is that rude? Is the etiquette bad?
- 1:07Speaker 2: I don't think it's bad.
- 1:09Speaker 3: No.
- 1:09Speaker 2: I think they just don't know you've checked out.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 1:12Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter. I think the cleaner just knocks anywhere. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:16Speaker 2: I think it's fine.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And they often barge in.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, they do.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I love the bar.
- 1:20Speaker 2: It's like a two knock to knock, knock, knock knock.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm in, Yeah, and they're seeing some things they should not.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be interesting.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So I still feel like, I guess it's rude to
- 1:34Speaker 1: leave the card in the room and just go, because
- 1:36Speaker 1: maybe you should, you know, let them know. But if
- 1:38Speaker 1: you haven't, you know, used anything mini bar or whatever,
- 1:42Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Yeah, just good, just go.
- 1:44Speaker 1: But I was like, oh, whatever, I'll turn my key in.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I get on the elevator, top floor, you know penthouse.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Whoa wow, top floor? Well what hotel chain?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Well there's only four floors in the hotel, so I
- 1:59Speaker 1: present it's still tough. Still top floor. And so traveling
- 2:05Speaker 1: down to the lobby, a man and his big dumb
- 2:08Speaker 1: family get on on a floor like floor two, and
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, they have all their bags with him,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and I'm okay, clearly they're checking out as well. So
- 2:18Speaker 1: when we get off the elevator, he should then let
- 2:20Speaker 1: me go in front of him, as there's only one receptionist,
- 2:25Speaker 1: so I can check out first, right, Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be nice. It's like when you're at
- 2:31Speaker 2: the grocery store and someone behind you only has like
- 2:33Speaker 2: a cotton of milk or something, and you're like, hey,
- 2:36Speaker 2: go before me. I've got all this stuff.
- 2:39Speaker 1: And also being on the elevator first but then shunted
- 2:43Speaker 1: to the back means I should be able to then check.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Out technically first, right, Yeah, top floor.
- 2:49Speaker 1: I'm top floor. I noticed he's not gonna let me
- 2:54Speaker 1: get ahead of him to check out. So I start
- 2:57Speaker 1: racing this man to the reception.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Stride on, yeah, a jog, power.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Walking, and he's got like all his bad and he's
- 3:12Speaker 1: like blocking me. He's like boxing me out in basketball.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Sending his kids out. Yeah.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he flanks his stupid kids out and then he
- 3:25Speaker 1: gets the reception before me and then proceeds to take
- 3:28Speaker 1: forever to check out. He's complaining about something in the
- 3:31Speaker 1: room blah. So I just yelled out my room number
- 3:36Speaker 1: and put my car. I just went four or five
- 3:39Speaker 1: and put my car down. Is that is that wrong?
- 3:44Speaker 2: I don't think it's wrong, but it's not right. I
- 3:49Speaker 2: don't think it's wrong, but from you, I don't know.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Not right in the head, not right.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I could make a tennis adjacent.
- 4:01Speaker 2: He needed to get to a game.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Yeah, one of his kids had his head on backwards.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, just like his idol Michaels.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Thank you top floor g Yeah. Well, we are in
- 4:11Speaker 1: the middle of Wimbledon. It's honestly been one of the
- 4:13Speaker 1: best slams uh in a long time. I've loved every
- 4:17Speaker 1: second of it.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Not as like manic as the French.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Yeah, not as many crazy upsets in the first.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Week, but still very exciting.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Tons of drama.
- 4:27Speaker 2: And tons of quality.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Lots of quality. Yeah, and the weather's been good.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And yeah, weather's been great. Apparently next week very hot
- 4:36Speaker 2: next week. This week, okay, it's Monday. I told you I.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Was gonna say next week, who cares tornadoes could hit
- 4:47Speaker 1: London and I'd be like cool. So we should get
- 4:53Speaker 1: into everyone's favorite news segment when a Grand Slam is on.
- 4:57Speaker 1: This is Grand Slam. A poetry that was.
- 5:06Speaker 2: That's it. It's tennis unleash.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's a Wimbledon feast at the Faeries. Sweet red strawberry, jasmine, Paulini, turkey, panini,
- 5:17Speaker 1: naomi osaka, eggplant, moose sokka. I love Fritz, chicken, schnitz,
- 5:24Speaker 1: lobster rai. It's a real Wimby winner me from all
- 5:29Speaker 1: that dinner. Also probably Yan Sinner people.
- 5:38Speaker 2: He's Gracie.
- 5:42Speaker 1: All right, that concludess our episode. So I have been
- 5:49Speaker 1: keeping notes throughout the tournament. Last time we recorded play
- 5:56Speaker 1: for the main draw had yet to begin, okay, and
- 5:58Speaker 1: obviously some big things happened. Just I'm gonna just go
- 6:02Speaker 1: through it. Before the tournament even started. After we recorded
- 6:05Speaker 1: Draper with Drew with bone bruising bone, so we didn't
- 6:09Speaker 1: get to even see the Fritz versus Draper first round match.
- 6:12Speaker 1: We were promised.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Bruising that sounds sounds awful, right, didn't he have like
- 6:18Speaker 2: art tissue bruising before the bone Maybe it's like, I
- 6:21Speaker 2: don't know, joint bone bruising. I'm not sure.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Not a doctor.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Not a doctor. I wish I was, though.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Your parents do too.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Imagine if I were, I would be doctor?
- 6:31Speaker 1: Who you would be? Doctor? Wow?
- 6:34Speaker 2: How cool would that be?
- 6:35Speaker 1: It would be pretty cool but also kind of nerdy.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Is Yeah, I'd have to be like a kid's doctor,
- 6:42Speaker 2: isn't that's true?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Yeah, So we did not get to experience that. But
- 6:47Speaker 1: then in the first round, the craziest thing that happened
- 6:50Speaker 1: in the women's side was Maya Kolinska, the Polish player
- 6:55Speaker 1: who was in the final of Roland Garris. She was
- 6:58Speaker 1: six thirty five to you up against the tie player
- 7:02Speaker 1: whose name I will not even attend. Yes, is it
- 7:12Speaker 1: because I made eye contact when I said, wow, she
- 7:22Speaker 1: was playing the tie player. We wa and she was
- 7:26Speaker 1: up six three five two with match points and rolled
- 7:31Speaker 1: her ankle and then that was it. She couldn't. She
- 7:36Speaker 1: battled through but then lost in the third set. So yeah, unfortunately,
- 7:41Speaker 1: that's how brutal it can be. And grass, I mean,
- 7:44Speaker 1: how many slips do you see?
- 7:46Speaker 2: So many slips, most slips in the clay. The clay's
- 7:49Speaker 2: got a bit more, yeah, like traction to it.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Well, because that just behind the baseline gets so chewed
- 7:55Speaker 1: up that any drop shot it's like you're making the
- 7:59Speaker 1: other and fall right. It's like I heard an argument
- 8:04Speaker 1: that they should save center court for the final week,
- 8:07Speaker 1: so no one plays on it till the final week
- 8:10Speaker 1: because otherwise you look at it out it's just like
- 8:12Speaker 1: a dirt track cricket pitch. So I mean, but this
- 8:16Speaker 1: was fresh, This was the fresh grass at Colinska. Just yeah,
- 8:19Speaker 1: tweaked her ankle and this was done. The first center
- 8:24Speaker 1: match against Kekmanovich was a five setter, surprisingly, and this
- 8:29Speaker 1: is where people started to go centers, not in the
- 8:31Speaker 1: form he was, and he was winning all those Masters
- 8:33Speaker 1: one thousands. It took him five sets to win it.
- 8:36Speaker 1: He had a bad fall that looked crazy.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Baby reindeer sort of stuff. Yeah, not to be confused
- 8:44Speaker 2: with the show.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Bambi, Yeah, had a nasty fall in that match,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and then also a blood soaked foot.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, what's that? Must have been a huge cut, yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 2: like how does how do you cut a foot within
- 9:00Speaker 2: the shoot? It must have split or was it a
- 9:04Speaker 2: toenail or something that came off?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah, he said it was a to okay, but still
- 9:10Speaker 1: like rough with the all white of Wimbledon.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just standing out.
- 9:15Speaker 1: The Djokovic thing of note was that bad Bunny was
- 9:20Speaker 1: in his Yes.
- 9:22Speaker 2: And Coco also had a bad Bunny story because they
- 9:26Speaker 2: both went to his concert. Yeah, because you were in
- 9:29Speaker 2: the bad Bunny box.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah, because that had a bad Bunny concert. He's got
- 9:32Speaker 1: a like a little house on stage that people like dancing,
- 9:36Speaker 1: famous people, famous people dancing? Is that your dreaming?
- 9:39Speaker 2: Well? Alcaraz was in it a few like I don't
- 9:43Speaker 2: know where it was, but he was in it as well.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Alcaraz I think is enjoying his time.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Yeah, let him a party always little gap months.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he's in a bad bunny his party house. On stage,
- 9:55Speaker 1: he's with models in Abitha. Yeah, he's doing akara partying
- 10:00Speaker 1: and beautiful ring to it with super models.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Uh.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Rubyl have won in the first round against Sapphalen, who's
- 10:10Speaker 1: gone on to have a great tournament. The big upset
- 10:13Speaker 1: was Shelton going in the first round against one hundred
- 10:16Speaker 1: and fortieth ranked Auto Vertin.
- 10:18Speaker 2: That was a huge of set, I know.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Especially because he looked like he was in good form
- 10:22Speaker 1: on grass going in. But then, yes, Shelton going was
- 10:26Speaker 1: a big blow to the US men's tennis, but we
- 10:30Speaker 1: still have a lot of representation in the second week.
- 10:33Speaker 1: The huge story obviously going in was Maya Joint and Serena.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Williams, and I famously said, Serena Williams will do it.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well. I think everyone wanted that Serena Iola.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Yeah, we wanted a little fairytale, a little storyline that continued,
- 10:50Speaker 2: but it kind of just went Mmmm.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Is Serena going through to a second round of a
- 10:54Speaker 1: fairy tale? Hasn't her life been?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Yeah? True? Be happy with what you've got.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. So Serena went out to my joint.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Maya played amazing, so.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Good, and she hasn't had a great year. It was
- 11:08Speaker 2: like lost, lost loss. This is her first win.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I think she had lost thirteen of her last matches
- 11:14Speaker 1: going in and then just played solid. Was just moving
- 11:17Speaker 1: Serena around and didn't let the occasion get to her.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Didn't really seem nervous at all. She looked great. I
- 11:24Speaker 1: thought she'd make a deeper run, but then came up against.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Iola, but she looked good at the start.
- 11:31Speaker 1: She did, and then I don't know, her form just
- 11:33Speaker 1: dropped and all I just locked in. I think he
- 11:36Speaker 1: Alla needs her flowers for being very intelligent out there
- 11:42Speaker 1: and like figuring out what the opponent is doing well
- 11:47Speaker 1: and what they're doing bad and exploiting it.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Yeah, she's good strategist.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so she's like, I mean, we'll get to her
- 11:53Speaker 1: in a second. But uh yeah, Serena out in the
- 11:56Speaker 1: first round and then eventually going out of the doubles,
- 12:00Speaker 1: not even playing the doubles because she pulled out with
- 12:03Speaker 1: a knee injury.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Just play through, Well, don't you get some dry needling
- 12:10Speaker 2: and get on with it, Get on with it. I mean,
- 12:13Speaker 2: if this is I mean, maybe it's indicating that she's
- 12:16Speaker 2: going to be more serious about this and she wants
- 12:18Speaker 2: to keep playing. But if this was kind of like
- 12:21Speaker 2: just a little foray back.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Into she did you see the pictures she posted of
- 12:26Speaker 1: like then the knee and the syringes filled with the
- 12:30Speaker 1: fluid that apparently had been extracted from her which looked
- 12:35Speaker 1: suspiciously like apple juice. And then obviously we'll get into
- 12:40Speaker 1: more handshakes that have happened later in the tournament, my
- 12:43Speaker 1: favorite being Felix Las and we'll get to that. We'll
- 12:51Speaker 1: go chronologically. I know, well that match we'll get in
- 12:59Speaker 1: the second round. I love Djokovic sits a.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Pass, Yes pass, No dad?
- 13:05Speaker 1: No dad? Well it's Dat's well, you make it sound
- 13:08Speaker 1: like his dad has passed on, but he's.
- 13:13Speaker 2: No dad.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Lizzy, who's so callous. I'd hate to be at your
- 13:21Speaker 1: high school like with you, because like if I had
- 13:25Speaker 1: like lost, you'd be like, hey, there's Mike, no mom Goldstein, idiot.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Let's stut the chat.
- 13:33Speaker 1: No no, no, Djokovic sits a pass was vintage Novak Djokovic.
- 13:42Speaker 1: This stat is crazy. Seven unforced errors in three sets
- 13:46Speaker 1: from Novaks. Yeah, seven, that's wild, that's real. He locked
- 13:54Speaker 1: in and I you just got to sit back and
- 13:56Speaker 1: appreciate it, like you're watching the best to ever do it, right.
- 14:00Speaker 2: That's so good.
- 14:01Speaker 1: This is like watching Michael Jordan, you know, Tiger Woods,
- 14:06Speaker 1: Michael Goldstein, the bad boy of comedy, Mike goldste his
- 14:14Speaker 1: kids cheering them on in the box.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Shit, you don't like it?
- 14:19Speaker 1: What if that was my take?
- 14:21Speaker 2: Yeah? I thought that's where you were going, like there
- 14:25Speaker 2: should be no children in the players. No.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Actually that's hilarious though, ayeah, because I could see them
- 14:32Speaker 1: flanking Djokovic on the in the rush to the reception
- 14:36Speaker 1: test to block me out. I've never this is the
- 14:39Speaker 1: only time I've ever wanted children of my own.
- 14:43Speaker 2: Oh you're going hot.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah, his kids like just come on and cheering them
- 14:48Speaker 1: on when he gets a break or whatever.
- 14:51Speaker 2: It is pretty cute.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It's so I mean, it is, it's like it's the
- 14:54Speaker 1: old it's really the we are classically childless people and uh, basically,
- 15:00Speaker 1: and it's the only time I've been like, god, that
- 15:03Speaker 1: would yeah. But also the only chance I have kids
- 15:07Speaker 1: is also the same chance I have of playing center
- 15:09Speaker 1: court in Wimbledon. Uh, the learner TN match. This was
- 15:16Speaker 1: kind of a heartbreaker to watch because he.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Was up, he was I wanted him to go far.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and he was playing Martin Fuvich, who is known
- 15:25Speaker 1: as the most shredded man in tennis. He's he's taking
- 15:29Speaker 1: his shirt off and he's jacked. He's done celebrations before
- 15:33Speaker 1: where he rips his shirt off, or he's done one
- 15:35Speaker 1: where he lifts his shorts so his quads are showing,
- 15:39Speaker 1: and then Medvedev classically beat him. Clap, Why am I
- 15:42Speaker 1: saying classically so Medvedev?
- 15:47Speaker 2: Oh, well, he's.
- 15:50Speaker 1: FactCheck ripped Mevedev Beatuvic, that this some old tournament and
- 15:55Speaker 1: then pulled his shorts up to show his weird little
- 15:58Speaker 1: skinny legs and it was great. But winning this match
- 16:03Speaker 1: is of note because Tien was sick. He was like
- 16:07Speaker 1: clearly not feeling well at all. He was pounding bread.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Well, we can't be nauseous to how would you take it?
- 16:20Speaker 2: Did you see this? Yes? Yeah, he was eating a
- 16:23Speaker 2: lot of food. And then the shot of him in
- 16:25Speaker 2: hospital was him with like a smorgas born of McDonald.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Yeah, which I think is just a celebration once you've
- 16:32Speaker 1: been training and playing so much tennis that once you're like, oh,
- 16:37Speaker 1: well this swing is done, I'm going you know. I
- 16:39Speaker 1: think it was more like I'm just gonna gorge.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Oh no, I think it's like a medical thing. It's
- 16:48Speaker 2: like real caloristic food. So they have to get as
- 16:52Speaker 2: much energy. It's called pallette of care.
- 16:58Speaker 1: It's called the hangover. But what really struck me about
- 17:03Speaker 1: the end of this match was Tan was clearly sick.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You know, Likevich comes through but then celebrates by unveiling
- 17:11Speaker 1: unveiling his bicep and then kissing it, which is such
- 17:15Speaker 1: a fuck you to the other guy. It's not well, well, yeah, just.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Take it gracefully. Yeah, God, this guy loves himself he does.
- 17:26Speaker 1: The kissing of the bicap is such an insane move
- 17:29Speaker 1: for tennis. Yeah, but I loved it.
- 17:34Speaker 2: That's what your kids would do from the player's box
- 17:37Speaker 2: whenever you did a good point, they'd just be like.
- 17:41Speaker 1: That sounds dare, Yeah, I think. Yeah. I would also
- 17:47Speaker 1: hire like a hot lady to kiss my bicep for me.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Oh two hot ladies. Nice. Nice. I would hire hot
- 17:55Speaker 2: guys to take off my jacket and stuff like I
- 17:59Speaker 2: come on to just like put my arms out and
- 18:02Speaker 2: they could like like a butler. Why not have shirtless butlers?
- 18:06Speaker 1: Oh, look at this, we're really turning tennis into only
- 18:12Speaker 1: fans on this podcast.
- 18:13Speaker 2: May mean we should do tennis only fans pod. Oh
- 18:17Speaker 2: that could be fun.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Are we nude?
- 18:23Speaker 2: We make tennis like we just talked about all the
- 18:25Speaker 2: shirtless players.
- 18:26Speaker 1: And ah, are we just subjective for yeah?
- 18:28Speaker 4: We do?
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:33Speaker 1: All right. By this point a ton of Ozzie's were out.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Joint went out to Alla Burrell, to Cristeia Cabali has
- 18:40Speaker 1: been an Ausie killer. He took out Duckworth and Demon
- 18:44Speaker 1: Demon and then of course Kazakina went out to Osaka.
- 18:48Speaker 1: So we'll get into Osaka very soon. But the third
- 18:51Speaker 1: round is really when the tournament started to heat up.
- 18:54Speaker 1: I just quickly want to mention Sablenca versus Osta Panco. Yes,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I love it goes so much. She marches around out
- 19:02Speaker 1: there like a little mafia boss.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Yeah she's got oh yeah, that ponytail couldn't be tighter.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like I don't know how they get it
- 19:13Speaker 2: so tired nipples do that. It's just like.
- 19:16Speaker 1: It's yeah, her foreheads pulled back, yeah yeah, and it's
- 19:19Speaker 1: like it's so tight, like it's all shiny, and she
- 19:24Speaker 1: when she doesn't agree with the electronic line calls, it's like, okay,
- 19:28Speaker 1: who cares you have to You don't have a choice.
- 19:30Speaker 1: But she's still every time she doesn't agree with one,
- 19:33Speaker 1: her face like could be memed forever. The eye roll.
- 19:37Speaker 1: It's like if if I said something to her and
- 19:39Speaker 1: she did that, irol to me, I'd probably like move
- 19:41Speaker 1: to Antarctica and never speak to anyone again. It is
- 19:45Speaker 1: a viscerating it is. She's got so much character, Like.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I wanted to come in here in January.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we'll get her. I love the again. Another
- 19:57Speaker 1: Djokovic match, him and Arthur Render Connect. That was just
- 20:03Speaker 1: awesome to watch that final match point. They're both on
- 20:06Speaker 1: the ground at the end of it and like staring
- 20:08Speaker 1: at each other through the net and laughing.
- 20:10Speaker 2: That's a real nice pillow talk moment.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it is. Yeah, you're staring at each other
- 20:19Speaker 1: through the net. It was awesome. They hadn't played before,
- 20:24Speaker 1: and I think Jokovic really respected render Connect's game and
- 20:28Speaker 1: Serve obviously, and it was just an awesome match to watch.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Sinner was still finding his form playing Brooksby, but got
- 20:36Speaker 1: through that and straight. Now you're gonna have a lot
- 20:39Speaker 1: of thoughts on this. Yala schavantek ow Yala, how good
- 20:45Speaker 1: is she?
- 20:46Speaker 2: She just has like I mean, Shontak was good as well,
- 20:50Speaker 2: but y'alla looked like she just wanted it more. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: I mean photo is iconic. She's just doing like a
- 20:57Speaker 2: one handed push up with a little.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Toes the Iola Schwantak. That first set was one of
- 21:05Speaker 1: the most thrilling sets, eleven nine to in the tiebreak.
- 21:11Speaker 1: You know how you can hear the coaches now like
- 21:13Speaker 1: coaching their players from the player's box. Eaga's coach at
- 21:17Speaker 1: one point said this to her, and it really resonated
- 21:20Speaker 1: with me. She said, she isn't beating you. Your losing, right, which,
- 21:26Speaker 1: like I feel like when I played ten is that's
- 21:30Speaker 1: often what's happening, and also pretty much what just happened
- 21:35Speaker 1: to grig Or Demitrov losing Arthur fair, But I don't
- 21:38Speaker 1: think it's necessarily fair in this match. I think Iola
- 21:42Speaker 1: of his skin, yeah and beat her, Yeah, I think yeah.
- 21:47Speaker 1: After that first set tiebreak disappointment, Chavontek never recovered, and
- 21:54Speaker 1: I mean Eola is obviously carrying the hopes of.
- 21:59Speaker 2: A nation on shoulder, Hilario. Yeah, let's be real and
- 22:03Speaker 2: we want it's all of Asia.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It's all of Asia. Yeah, they I mean the support
- 22:09Speaker 1: she gets.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Yeah, she's loved and she's so nice, Like she's so
- 22:15Speaker 2: beautiful and she has just this like head on her shoulders.
- 22:18Speaker 2: She's so mature and emotionally intelligent, and she just says
- 22:22Speaker 2: all the right things she does.
- 22:24Speaker 1: And now I think this is a good point to
- 22:26Speaker 1: go on record that we will not pronounce her nationality
- 22:30Speaker 1: the way Cameron.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Diaz, Oh, yes, are you we can't do that?
- 22:36Speaker 1: Well, are you familiar with.
- 22:38Speaker 4: The I haven't been to the Philppines, but I grew
- 22:42Speaker 4: up with a lot of Philippinos Reales. My best friend
- 22:45Speaker 4: that I grew up next door to her, her mother
- 22:48Speaker 4: was from the Plippines Olympia.
- 22:54Speaker 2: I mean, it's a good accent.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It's so funny that she like speeds up she goes.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I been of the Philippines, but I grew up with
- 23:02Speaker 1: the Philippines. My best friend was from the Philippines. It's
- 23:10Speaker 1: so nuts, Like that's like me going, I haven't been
- 23:13Speaker 1: to London, but I've got a.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Lot of British friends in.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Town and now and then.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Cut that, cut that.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Don't cut that because it's the same. It's so nuts. Yeah,
- 23:29Speaker 1: but i'alla what to win? What a speech after? She's
- 23:33Speaker 1: just I mean so likable.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So like so marketable. So I think she'll be like
- 23:38Speaker 2: soon one of the world's most highly paid tennis players.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Well, getting through to the second week of Wimbledon means she's.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yeah, just from a sponsorship point of view, if she's
- 23:49Speaker 2: like the biggest in Asia, she could just be marketed
- 23:53Speaker 2: all around there.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Huge.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Not only is she big in the pilopins, but she's
- 23:58Speaker 1: all across Asia and now the world. Yes, yeah, and
- 24:01Speaker 1: people go, oh yeah, she's like just a great pilapino player.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah everywhere mine. Yes.
- 24:14Speaker 1: So this tournament going in was like the battle for
- 24:17Speaker 1: number one on the women's side between Sablenka and Rebeccaa,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but both going out early.
- 24:24Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 24:25Speaker 1: I know, Rebeccaa one out third round to mertens and
- 24:28Speaker 1: then Sabolenka obviously losing two.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Oh suck. This is awesome to see this.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Yeah, this is old school Osaka, like when she was
- 24:39Speaker 1: winning the US Open.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Happy. Yeah, she looks excited to be the The serve
- 24:44Speaker 2: is huge and she's happy with a game.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Yeah, honestly, that's serving from her in the first set
- 24:50Speaker 1: against Sablenka, and Sabolenka admitted it after which you wouldn't
- 24:54Speaker 1: I don't think normally hear do She goes, I got overpowered, Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 1: Sablenca being the hardest to hit her on the tour,
- 25:01Speaker 1: being like.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what she's got going on, right, it's such
- 25:04Speaker 2: a hard hitting. Yeah, Whereas I feel like Osaka just
- 25:07Speaker 2: read her beautifully.
- 25:08Speaker 1: And she had won the last few matchups against Sabulenka,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and so I just adjusted. And I feel maybe with
- 25:15Speaker 1: Sablenka that if she can't hit players off the court,
- 25:18Speaker 1: she doesn't really have a backup plan. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 1: and she's not like the strategist she's going to that net.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Yeah anything, I know.
- 25:26Speaker 1: And Osaka looked amazing. I mean, it was pretty flawless
- 25:30Speaker 1: in that first set, and then just was able to
- 25:32Speaker 1: ride that through.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 1: This is Sablenka's first straight sets loss at a major
- 25:38Speaker 1: since twenty twenty.
- 25:40Speaker 2: That's incredible. And she lost her what was her tiebreak
- 25:45Speaker 2: sets that's gone now as well.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Yeah, twenty over twenty twenty one. I know it was
- 25:50Speaker 1: close to Djokovic's record tybreak's one in a row. But yeah,
- 25:56Speaker 1: crazy stuff. So we're in the fourth round now talking
- 25:59Speaker 1: about Sabalanka in Osaka. Whoa, this was. I love this
- 26:05Speaker 1: match Mukova versus kai Chikova or the Mooch versus the
- 26:09Speaker 1: Creach the creach. Yeah, I love Mooch versus Creach because
- 26:16Speaker 1: they're two of the most fluid, just poetry and motion players,
- 26:20Speaker 1: just wielding that racket like. It's so amazing to watch
- 26:24Speaker 1: how they play and glide around the court. And it
- 26:29Speaker 1: looked like Mukova was going to take it in straight sets.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Ki Chikova just somehow push her to a third, and
- 26:35Speaker 1: then Mukova was able to close it out. And they're
- 26:37Speaker 1: both check players, very you know, friendly and chatty and
- 26:42Speaker 1: at the net afterwards, again me analyzing because in the
- 26:47Speaker 1: Pola iva Jovich match that Pola won in three sets,
- 26:52Speaker 1: two American players, I'm watching the handshake at the net, going,
- 26:55Speaker 1: surely it's like a hug and chat, a cursory handshake. Again,
- 26:59Speaker 1: it was friendly enough.
- 27:02Speaker 2: I have no idea fourth round.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So Muka takes that one over cheek of a golf
- 27:09Speaker 1: and benchic was a killer match. And now this brings
- 27:17Speaker 1: me to another Mike g hot.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Tache on the top floor. Oh my gosh, get rid
- 27:26Speaker 2: of the curfew. Oh yeah, what's up with this curfew?
- 27:29Speaker 1: What it's so?
- 27:30Speaker 2: I don't even know there was one till this match.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So Coco got it done, but apparently there was like
- 27:36Speaker 1: a minute, minutes, two minutes despair and then when Coco
- 27:40Speaker 1: won that cool like tapping though. Oh yeah, because there's
- 27:44Speaker 1: literally like a lady that comes out when curfew is
- 27:47Speaker 1: coming up and stands like in the back corner and like.
- 27:49Speaker 2: I think it's Mary Poppins.
- 27:51Speaker 1: It's Mary Poppins.
- 27:52Speaker 2: I think she flies in on an umbrella. She's like,
- 27:57Speaker 2: time to stop play children, Wrap it up, wrap it up,
- 28:02Speaker 2: get inside. You don't want to get cold.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I get rid of the curfew, Like right now when
- 28:10Speaker 1: we're recording. They had to suspend the zaverav Lahechka match
- 28:15Speaker 1: till tomorrow because they were in the third set is
- 28:21Speaker 1: eleven pm. But they have a stadium with a roof,
- 28:26Speaker 1: and they're like, oh, it's residents, you know, might get upset.
- 28:28Speaker 2: You know of yourself Wimbledon residence. This is your time.
- 28:32Speaker 2: They're probably not even there. It's a rich suburb they're
- 28:34Speaker 2: at the Spanish houses.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And also they moved to a suburb called Wimbledon and
- 28:41Speaker 1: then they're complaining about the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Get some plus.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so they knew what they were getting into. But
- 28:47Speaker 1: it's probably old money and they've been there for generations.
- 28:50Speaker 1: But so it is the tennis right. But before, like
- 28:53Speaker 1: Center Court and Court one had the roofs on it,
- 28:56Speaker 1: maybe there was a bit more noise or you know whatever.
- 28:59Speaker 1: But now it's like it's for two weeks of the year.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Just get past it. Let them finish. A lot of
- 29:07Speaker 1: people hate this, but I love during the Grand Slams
- 29:09Speaker 1: when like play is going on till four a m.
- 29:11Speaker 1: In the morning, because yeah, yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 2: But I mean five centers is not most people.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But I mean it's led to some of the craziest
- 29:23Speaker 1: matches in Australian Open history, you know, French us but
- 29:27Speaker 1: this is the only one the curfew where they're like
- 29:29Speaker 1: the residents are like, oh, keep it down, get up early.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I've got to trade shares in the morning. I've got
- 29:36Speaker 2: stop my wait market waits for nobody then has to.
- 29:41Speaker 1: Get up early and make some small dick. Anyways, cough
- 29:50Speaker 1: wins that one, so go to the quarters and then
- 29:54Speaker 1: just a quick chat about the battle of the longest
- 29:58Speaker 1: names in tennis. Oh, this is Alejandro da Vidovich versus Felix. Seen.
- 30:05Speaker 1: This was an absolute epic, just a lot of uh,
- 30:08Speaker 1: I mean the rally of the tournament if you haven't
- 30:10Speaker 1: seen it yet, Oh spot.
- 30:33Speaker 2: A point rally the tournament insane. Yeah, yeah, just like
- 30:39Speaker 2: laughing though it was smiling.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, flying through the air to get a backhand
- 30:46Speaker 1: like volley to the corner of the court, which Felix
- 30:48Speaker 1: and ditches into the net and the crowd just on
- 30:51Speaker 1: their feet.
- 30:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:52Speaker 1: This absolutely exhilarating, amazing stuff. Uh. Yeah, that was when
- 30:58Speaker 1: they were still friendly because uh there's accusations of Davidovich
- 31:03Speaker 1: Fikina then kind of faking an injury to throw Felix
- 31:06Speaker 1: off his game.
- 31:06Speaker 2: But World Cup and spine, Yeah, he's going for a dive.
- 31:12Speaker 1: And then changing the well, attempting if you're going to
- 31:16Speaker 1: believe the accusations to change Felix's momentum. Felix was then
- 31:21Speaker 1: unable to close out the fourth, got through I think
- 31:24Speaker 1: six to one in the fifth and was fine, but
- 31:26Speaker 1: then it was beefy at the net. Yeah, it was a.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Handshake, Yeah, what's your what's your red on this?
- 31:36Speaker 1: My read is that Felix was just over it and
- 31:39Speaker 1: was just like, he's a nice guy.
- 31:41Speaker 2: He's the best, really sweet guy.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I think he's very straightforward and very fair.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah. And he's Canadian. Yeah, they're nice people.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Very polite.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Yeah. But Davidovitch obviously say no, I was actually injured,
- 31:55Speaker 1: but then seem to be playing fine. Yeah, and Felix
- 31:59Speaker 1: thinking it was amsmanship and that he was just faking
- 32:02Speaker 1: it to throw him off his serve and I it
- 32:04Speaker 1: went to the fifth and then Felix was like, yeah,
- 32:08Speaker 1: rather than usually at the end of an epic five center,
- 32:10Speaker 1: you know, the little hug and be like, wasn't that crazy?
- 32:13Speaker 1: But this was very cursory and very like no, no, no,
- 32:17Speaker 1: I know what you're doing, you know. And Felix, being
- 32:20Speaker 1: the polite, awesome guy that he is, didn't then trash
- 32:23Speaker 1: talk him in the postmass match interview or in press.
- 32:27Speaker 1: He just said the rule is bad that you can
- 32:31Speaker 1: take an injury time out in the middle of a game, right,
- 32:35Speaker 1: which I tend to agree with. And then in terms
- 32:38Speaker 1: of retirement, Hubet hrcats retired in a five Cetter against Struff.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, you'll be hurt my hamstring.
- 32:53Speaker 1: And then what just happened outside of novaks are passing
- 32:57Speaker 1: fed with one hundred and six. Wimble didn't win Kabali demonar.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Oh just looked too strong.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I think it want it well. I love this battle
- 33:10Speaker 1: because it's two of the fastest guys on tour. I
- 33:13Speaker 1: have a question for you, Lizzie, who do you remember
- 33:17Speaker 1: who the fastest guy at your school was?
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it was Lizzie.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Who is that true?
- 33:25Speaker 2: In my grade? Yeah?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Were you the fastest? Yea true?
- 33:30Speaker 2: Yeah you seen these cubs.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Yeah, a load of the legs leg you were the
- 33:37Speaker 1: fastest person in my grade. Yeah. Yeah, that is awesome.
- 33:42Speaker 1: That is cool because you know what that means. Everyone
- 33:45Speaker 1: at your school remembers you for being.
- 33:47Speaker 2: The fastest, firstest kid.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that rules at my school in primary school. Still yeah, yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 1: I mean in my school was David Yeah yeah boo,
- 34:00Speaker 1: but he you know, I think works that he used
- 34:03Speaker 1: car dealership. Now I choose not to run maybe bleep
- 34:07Speaker 1: his name, but yeah, So this match is outside of Alcahaz,
- 34:14Speaker 1: the two fastest guys on the tour. Yeah, and it
- 34:16Speaker 1: was just awesome to see them just grind out these
- 34:19Speaker 1: rallies and I think Kabali might have the best down
- 34:24Speaker 1: the line. Backhand was just ripping that shot all match.
- 34:28Speaker 1: But I was distracted by Kabali's man bra.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Oh was it one of those ones that you know
- 34:36Speaker 2: the AFL players were they have the little oh, but
- 34:39Speaker 2: they're not allowed to wear a little track of.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Well, this is what I thought because I looked it
- 34:42Speaker 1: up and everyone says, so it looks like a man bra,
- 34:45Speaker 1: a man's ear or a bro whatever you want to
- 34:47Speaker 1: call it. A bra is for ladies, meet the bro.
- 34:51Speaker 1: But they said it's like tracking geometrics or whatever all
- 34:56Speaker 1: that crap, and it's like gives you a read of
- 34:58Speaker 1: heart rate. And there wasn't there drama during the AOA
- 35:03Speaker 1: the watch.
- 35:04Speaker 2: But maybe you can get away with it by wearing the.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Bra because you've subjected yourself to wearing.
- 35:10Speaker 2: A bra man's ear.
- 35:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's wearing I did just every time, like
- 35:18Speaker 1: you could see it through. Obviously they're wearing Wimbledon whites
- 35:21Speaker 1: and I'm like, what is he a C cup?
- 35:25Speaker 2: It's a cup? Maybe yeah, maybe he's maybe he's got
- 35:28Speaker 2: like picks.
- 35:30Speaker 1: There appears to be some jiggling.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Yeah, he's no future, but yeah, yeah, I mean he's
- 35:35Speaker 2: pretty RiPP He's not like he's a small guy.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, it's small and nuggety as his Demon r As
- 35:43Speaker 1: was Ella's next match up against Jasmine Pallini, So Paulini
- 35:49Speaker 1: being her and Iola two of the most likable players
- 35:53Speaker 1: on tour.
- 35:54Speaker 2: So happy happy that Pollini is kind of back, like
- 35:57Speaker 2: we don't really see much of her.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Yeah, she's kind of had a rough season, but she
- 36:03Speaker 1: got through this and it was a great match. But
- 36:07Speaker 1: unfortunately Iola's run has come to.
- 36:10Speaker 2: And got a standing ovation when she left the court. Yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 2: I love that.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know there was just tons of watch
- 36:19Speaker 1: parties happening in all the world. Back to the demon
- 36:23Speaker 1: Ar Cabali match, Demon r He's not in a good way.
- 36:27Speaker 2: He's not in a good way with these tenants. He's
- 36:29Speaker 2: got a Grand Slam voodoo or something.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he's generally gets into the second week.
- 36:36Speaker 2: He's the number five tennis play. Yeah, breaks my brain
- 36:40Speaker 2: a little bit, right, but he's then in the Slam,
- 36:43Speaker 2: Like I get how it happens, but then in the
- 36:45Speaker 2: Slams he can't get really past his quarterfinals.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I think on the men's side of the draw, say
- 36:51Speaker 1: number five and number four. Yeah, it's obviously you're in
- 36:54Speaker 1: the top half of the top ten, but the gap
- 36:58Speaker 1: is huge between these guys. Isn't a center in Alcoraz,
- 37:02Speaker 1: you know, it's Vera probably as well. But I think
- 37:07Speaker 1: demon ar is just like you see this with tennis
- 37:10Speaker 1: players a lot. They play so much, there's so much pressure,
- 37:13Speaker 1: the season is never ending, tons of travel. He's planning
- 37:18Speaker 1: a wedding at the same time. Uh went out in
- 37:22Speaker 1: straight sets to Koboli and was in the press conference
- 37:26Speaker 1: afterwards just like distraught.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Yeah, you have to feel from Yeah, my read on
- 37:31Speaker 2: it is like he just needs a little break. Go
- 37:34Speaker 2: out and party. Yeah, I don't know, do the demon things. Yeah,
- 37:41Speaker 2: go out with al, let your head out a little bit.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Does he seem like the party type I.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Think he should be.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 37:48Speaker 2: There's something that's missing from his life. Yeah.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Yeah, when is the wedding? Do we know that?
- 37:53Speaker 2: I didn't?
- 37:59Speaker 1: Were you fun?
- 38:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not a lot of fun happening in his games.
- 38:05Speaker 1: It sounds like he's gonna take a break. I mean,
- 38:08Speaker 1: a hardcourt swing starts pretty soon once Wimbledon is over
- 38:13Speaker 1: and he's good on the hard court, I don't know
- 38:16Speaker 1: obviously as the best Australian player. Yeah, we want to
- 38:20Speaker 1: see him around of course playing.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't seem great at the moment for him,
- 38:28Speaker 1: so who knows, maybe a break will do him good.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Why not skip the US hard court season and then
- 38:33Speaker 1: you know, get right for these.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Have a little bit of fun.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Yeah, come back stronger.
- 38:37Speaker 2: For the wedding. Yeah, enjoy your honeymoon. Yeah, do demon.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Things, demon things. So I watched Fritz and Bublic in
- 38:49Speaker 1: full this morning because I was like, this is going
- 38:51Speaker 1: to be the match, and then it was just Fritz
- 38:53Speaker 1: over Bublick and Straights. And then the match that I
- 38:56Speaker 1: was like, I'll just watch the mini of because this
- 38:59Speaker 1: is surely just going to be a blowout was Demitrov
- 39:02Speaker 1: of Arthur Ferry. And then I'm watching the mini and
- 39:04Speaker 1: I'm going.
- 39:05Speaker 2: This is this is the match.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I'm like, what the hell is happening here? Who saw
- 39:12Speaker 1: this coming?
- 39:12Speaker 2: No one, not even Arthur Faery. No did you see
- 39:16Speaker 2: him at the end map to the crowd when he won,
- 39:19Speaker 2: He was like, what the fuck?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the dream.
- 39:28Speaker 2: He just looks at his boxes.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I want, oh my god, Arthur Ferry is so unknown
- 39:33Speaker 1: that if you go on Google, you know, you can
- 39:35Speaker 1: click on the match and they have like the little
- 39:37Speaker 1: profile picks. They don't even have one. He's just said
- 39:40Speaker 1: like empty. I mean maybe after today, who knows. But
- 39:46Speaker 1: this is.
- 39:47Speaker 2: This is the fairy tale.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the Arthur fairy tale.
- 39:51Speaker 2: It is.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and him winning this match I did not expect.
- 39:55Speaker 1: I just watched the highlights because, like I said, and
- 39:58Speaker 1: then I was looking at the stats for it and
- 40:01Speaker 1: Dimitrov over fifty plus unforced errors and it's like yeah,
- 40:07Speaker 1: and then it must have been on you know, break points.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I mean what definitely was on breakpoints that fairy took.
- 40:15Speaker 1: I I just just came out of nowhere for me.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:17Speaker 1: I just thought this was like an.
- 40:19Speaker 2: Like a wild card into the tournament.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think the first ever British wild card
- 40:24Speaker 1: into the quarterfinals.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Incredible.
- 40:26Speaker 1: It is nuts.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Did it happen after England won?
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah? So England won in the World Cup yeah against Mexico.
- 40:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:36Speaker 1: And then now, I mean very one. Do you think
- 40:38Speaker 1: he had the uh yeah, maybe he had spirit of England.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe something, maybe someone whispered any day like England
- 40:45Speaker 2: just won. England just beat Mexico and he's like, all right,
- 40:48Speaker 2: I got to do it.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Yeah, said before lost. Yeah, well if you have over
- 40:55Speaker 1: fifty plus on forced errors, and then the one guy
- 40:58Speaker 1: is converting break points Arthur Ferry obviously, and then it's
- 41:03Speaker 1: uh yeah, I think the stats, it's the it's that
- 41:08Speaker 1: quota thing in tennis where it doesn't matter if you've
- 41:12Speaker 1: you can win more points but still lose the match.
- 41:15Speaker 1: And Dimitrov just like looked off, like even in the highlights,
- 41:20Speaker 1: I saw missing.
- 41:22Speaker 2: A lot of those one fault yeah final.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, but this sets up I think these
- 41:31Speaker 1: quarterfinals are more excited about than any quarterfinals.
- 41:34Speaker 2: They are so good. Yeah, there's like primo players.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Yeah, the women's I mean soccer and the mooch.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Who are you gonna go for? You're gonna I'm gonna Goka, I'll.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Go the mooch. I mean it's gonna be good. I
- 41:50Speaker 1: can't wait. Oh we should touch on before we go
- 41:53Speaker 1: through the quarterfinals. That Madison Keys loss to Lyndon Oscovo,
- 41:58Speaker 1: meaning that are producer wins the pick a w t
- 42:02Speaker 1: al who gets the deepest in the tournament. You went
- 42:06Speaker 1: out straight away. I just went back A hot pick
- 42:11Speaker 1: who's your heart. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, she went out
- 42:14Speaker 1: second round. I think Madison Keys, I mean just A
- 42:18Speaker 1: Noskova was too solid, too strong, and Madison just totally
- 42:22Speaker 1: wasn't on her game. So our producer E Roll had
- 42:26Speaker 1: picked Pagola. Let's go through it, Osaka, Mukeva Osaka in
- 42:34Speaker 1: the mooch. You say Osaka, I say, mooch. Pagola Golf
- 42:39Speaker 1: is wow, I want golf. Should we change up the
- 42:43Speaker 1: bet from here? Pick a lady and if that lady
- 42:46Speaker 1: wins the tournament, then that person. This does not appeal
- 42:51Speaker 1: to our producer at all.
- 42:52Speaker 2: He already won, loses suggestion.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'm just trying to get back in it. All right, Well,
- 43:02Speaker 1: I think, okay, Pogola beats Golf and then goes on
- 43:06Speaker 1: through to win the tournament, but you still have some
- 43:09Speaker 1: amazing players in the bottom half of the quarterfinals. Cost
- 43:13Speaker 1: Jak Paulini, Yes that is. Cost Jack's not like a
- 43:18Speaker 1: grass court play, like known as a solid grass court player,
- 43:22Speaker 1: but she's having amazing tournaments. Yeah, and I think she's
- 43:26Speaker 1: won like twenty of her last twenty one matches.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah on the roll, Yeah, maybe Costjak duck Horse.
- 43:34Speaker 1: So you think Costjak over Paulini. Yeah, okay, and then
- 43:38Speaker 1: the last one on a Oscova Mertens who cares no
- 43:44Speaker 1: Mertens look great. I mean she beat Rebecca, but the
- 43:48Speaker 1: less that's probably the one I'm lee'st pumped about. But
- 43:51Speaker 1: I'll still absolutely watch it, and it's you know, it's
- 43:53Speaker 1: a fun quarterfinal like all around. And then in the
- 43:58Speaker 1: men's side, obviously Zaverev Lahka still yet to be decided,
- 44:03Speaker 1: but Zverev is up two sets and they're on serve
- 44:06Speaker 1: and the third the winner that will play Taylor Fritz.
- 44:10Speaker 1: I would love to see Taylor fitz Verev again. Two
- 44:14Speaker 1: guys just absolutely bombing their serves at each other. And
- 44:18Speaker 1: Zverev can't beat Fritz. Yeah, but also I would have
- 44:24Speaker 1: said Osaka can't beat sable Anka, So I.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Mean, who knows.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Maybe it is time, but I mean I really, you know,
- 44:32Speaker 1: I think Zverev keeps his consistency obviously against Lahehka and
- 44:38Speaker 1: gets through to the quarters and Zara Fritz. I'm still
- 44:41Speaker 1: gonna pick Fritz. And that one, uh Koboli, Arthur Ferry Koboli,
- 44:49Speaker 1: I mean I think that's.
- 44:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you would think.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Can we also mention that Koboli in every Grand Slam.
- 44:55Speaker 1: In a postmatch, Andy has brought up his I felt
- 45:01Speaker 1: some strange feeling on my on my stomach and when
- 45:04Speaker 1: I came I came back from from the bathroom was okay.
- 45:08Speaker 2: So maybe a little bit too much information. What are
- 45:17Speaker 2: they feeding this guy? He needs to change his diet.
- 45:20Speaker 1: I think he's like, yeah, Celiac or something, Yeah, I did.
- 45:23Speaker 2: I did look up. I'm like, is he gluten free?
- 45:26Speaker 2: And apparently he is right. But then people like I
- 45:29Speaker 2: see him eat bread all the time. But he's Italian,
- 45:32Speaker 2: so like I can't give up the past. Like when
- 45:35Speaker 2: he sees it, he's.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Like, yeah, imagine having the confidence to talk about shooting
- 45:43Speaker 1: your pants and wearing.
- 45:45Speaker 2: A bras he rules.
- 45:51Speaker 1: He's so funny, so fun or it's like someone of
- 45:53Speaker 1: his friends says, dared him. Every Grand Slam tournament, you
- 45:57Speaker 1: have to tell everyone.
- 45:59Speaker 2: When ash Bodied did the Disney characters thing or whatever.
- 46:02Speaker 2: She even in the press conference have to talk about
- 46:05Speaker 2: shooting my pens.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Djokovic Ali Asim is gonna be probably most excited about that.
- 46:15Speaker 1: For the men's quarterfinals, what do you think. I feel
- 46:20Speaker 1: like Djokovic, but I think he gets pushed to five
- 46:22Speaker 1: and then he's ruined for the semifinals.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Says Jack.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Mine says, fah, yeah, I see Center kind of getting
- 46:35Speaker 1: through Struff pretty easily, and because Struff was surprisingly the
- 46:43Speaker 1: win against Medvedev caught me off guard. But Medvedev, again
- 46:46Speaker 1: we never know, showed up volatile, was up in every
- 46:49Speaker 1: set and then lost in straits. Uh Sinner gets through
- 46:54Speaker 1: Struff and then plays Djokovic in the semi. But my prediction, yeah,
- 46:57Speaker 1: Djokovic is ruined from the FAA match and then yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 1: Center ends up winning the tournament against I don't know,
- 47:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna say Fritz in the final. So who do
- 47:09Speaker 1: you like on the men's side? Center? Uh?
- 47:12Speaker 2: No, I want I do want Jokovic to go through
- 47:15Speaker 2: the final.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Get that elusive number twenty five?
- 47:18Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, I like a story arc? You do
- 47:21Speaker 2: want it to be finished?
- 47:23Speaker 1: Well, story arc would be Arthur Ferry.
- 47:25Speaker 2: I know about beating Center in the final, anything is possible.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Imagine if that happened and England wins the World Cup,
- 47:33Speaker 1: people will be insufferable.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Yeah this time that would be too much. Alright, all right, Mike,
- 47:50Speaker 2: are you ready for approaching the next.
- 48:02Speaker 1: All right?
- 48:03Speaker 2: Can I ask you in tennis playing doubles. Have you
- 48:05Speaker 2: ever been hit?
- 48:07Speaker 1: No, I was discussed last week or the week before.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I have been hit in the throat and I talked
- 48:12Speaker 1: with the whistle for a while. Yes, yes, I've been
- 48:15Speaker 1: hitting the ass. What do you got?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Oh it's like a plum. Yeah, okay, that would have hurt.
- 48:26Speaker 1: My favorite part is that his doubles partner.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Was laughing, yeah, because it's funny.
- 48:34Speaker 1: I mean, these guys are ripping serves and like, he
- 48:37Speaker 1: hits him properly. Yeah, but you probably friends?
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I think he would love. But then he
- 48:45Speaker 2: realizes that he's in quite some pain and goes over
- 48:49Speaker 2: and dissoles him. So I don't think the guy who
- 48:52Speaker 2: got him in the head would have known that his
- 48:55Speaker 2: friend was loughing.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Oh he's I'm sure he's been tagged in that particular
- 49:00Speaker 1: like a million times, and his friends just like, yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 1: I gave you CT.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Yeah probably unheard of.
- 49:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it'd be funny of the next match. I don't
- 49:10Speaker 1: know if they went through, but he's just wearing a helmet.
- 49:17Speaker 2: So Wimbill done, famous for strawberries and cream. How do
- 49:21Speaker 2: you think it comes so well?
- 49:24Speaker 1: I initially thought it was because I'm dumb that it
- 49:30Speaker 1: was the American way of with whipped cream cream. Yeah,
- 49:34Speaker 1: like so like a strawberry shortcut.
- 49:36Speaker 2: Yeah, like in a little cup or something.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Assumed in a cup and then just doused in whipped
- 49:41Speaker 1: cream and yeah, sugary, nice whipped cream. But then our
- 49:45Speaker 1: friend Eliza West did a post talking about how it's
- 49:48Speaker 1: just like condensed milk. Hmm, like full cream milk they
- 49:52Speaker 1: just dump on top of it. Yeah.
- 49:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think the strawberries are the hero. Yeah, but
- 49:57Speaker 2: we've seen a picture, yeah, of a fan who's there
- 50:01Speaker 2: and they've taken a picture and it doesn't look like
- 50:04Speaker 2: I would pay for it.
- 50:05Speaker 1: That is one of the grimmest pictures all times.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Seven ish strawberries. Yeah, they look beautiful, but then there's
- 50:17Speaker 2: like just cream dumped on top.
- 50:19Speaker 1: It looks like what they drained out of Serena's knee.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 50:26Speaker 2: It's a real pussy knee.
- 50:28Speaker 1: There's yeah, not enough strawberries. It's at the bottom of
- 50:32Speaker 1: like a Chinese takeaway.
- 50:34Speaker 2: A little box. I wonder if they ran out of
- 50:36Speaker 2: the actual vessel that I'm meant to use, and they're
- 50:39Speaker 2: just like, oh, we've only got these boxes left, so
- 50:41Speaker 2: we've got to put it in here, do we know
- 50:42Speaker 2: how much this costs? Okay, let's guess all right, I'm
- 50:46Speaker 2: going to go equivalent twenty four aud so that's probably
- 50:50Speaker 2: twelve pounds.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Twelve pounds okay, I mean no way, I for this.
- 50:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna say eight.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Pounds, eight pounds.
- 51:03Speaker 1: It's actually two pounds eighty five Okay, So what is
- 51:08Speaker 1: that like? Six bucks? Aussie?
- 51:10Speaker 2: Well, there you get what you pay six dollars. Have
- 51:15Speaker 2: you been doing Australia's supermarket recently? Imagine strawberries.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I would want someone to pay me to slurp that
- 51:23Speaker 1: down and in the summer heat.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I would want someone to feed to me.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Do you imagine the cream's got to be chilled at
- 51:31Speaker 1: least curtled?
- 51:32Speaker 2: Yeah? I feel like it's curdling.
- 51:34Speaker 1: It's so loose.
- 51:36Speaker 2: As a non lactose person, that image scary.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Really, that's a nightmare for you. But also the article
- 51:45Speaker 1: it says tennis fans horror at reality of Wimbledon strawberries
- 51:50Speaker 1: and cream. So again, this is a British person just complaining.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they love to complain.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you telling me?
- 51:58Speaker 2: This pound.
- 52:04Speaker 1: Blimy crawberry cream? It's not even tastes like pens and
- 52:08Speaker 1: a shoe.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Unbelievable, unbelievable.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Do we have any British listeners? Probably not anymore, And that.
- 52:19Speaker 3: Was approaching the net table.
- 52:37Speaker 1: We have a winner, the only one to do the impression.
- 52:40Speaker 1: To set it up, we asked for the what was
- 52:43Speaker 1: the quiz question? It was who was the last man
- 52:45Speaker 1: to beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon? And you have to
- 52:49Speaker 1: do an impression of that person?
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yes, and our beautiful friend a Rash from Sweden.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I'd say, we just do you have the audio? Yeah?
- 52:59Speaker 1: The man to be Roger Featherer is obviously me hub Yeah,
- 53:08Speaker 1: a rash. That's good, It's good.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Does it continue?
- 53:12Speaker 4: No?
- 53:15Speaker 2: I was waiting for the ending. Yeah, obviously me.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you, I mean the impression and everything. We
- 53:24Speaker 1: love it.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we love that you listen and you write in her.
- 53:29Speaker 2: I've got a quizzy who question for our listeners. Please
- 53:33Speaker 2: email us at pod labor at tennis dot com dot au.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Who is the first unseated player to win Wimbledon? Do
- 53:44Speaker 2: you know the answer?
- 53:45Speaker 1: I do, but we want an impression again, an impression,
- 53:49Speaker 1: send that in more impression. It's going to be a
- 53:52Speaker 1: rash again.
- 53:53Speaker 2: And we'll see you next week. For our Wimbledon wrap up.
- 53:56Speaker 1: We're gonna wrap up Wimbledon. The first week was a killer.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'm spending so much time on the couch, loving every
- 54:05Speaker 1: second of it. I've done three screens at once during
- 54:08Speaker 1: the first week.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Where I had oh my gosh, what's you set up?
- 54:11Speaker 1: I had the TV this is at the hotel in Sydney,
- 54:14Speaker 1: the TV, and then I had another match on the laptop,
- 54:17Speaker 1: and then a third match on the phone.
- 54:18Speaker 2: Whoa, yeah, that's crazy.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm hacking into the main threat.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Wow. Well, I'm looking forward to it. In the meantime,
- 54:25Speaker 2: I'm going to hang out with my Pilipino friends.
- 54:27Speaker 1: Oh I've actually never been to the Philippines, but I
- 54:30Speaker 1: have many Bilipino breads.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I actually do have a lot of friends.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Do you Yeah, all right, where are they from?
- 54:39Speaker 2: Rockampton?
- 54:43Speaker 1: See you next week. People.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Is grazy
