- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, let's jump right out to empower Field at Mile
- 0:02Speaker 1: High where warm ups have paused. We have a lightning delay, Jeff,
- 0:09Speaker 1: lagwalled our boots on the ground. What's going on right
- 0:13Speaker 1: now at the stadium.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Everybody kind of waiting around just to see what if
- 0:19Speaker 2: it's gonna storm or not. But it's uh, yeah, they've
- 0:23Speaker 2: kind of paused things when even at the even at
- 0:27Speaker 2: the gates where folks come in, there isn't much happening
- 0:31Speaker 2: right now. So I think, uh, you know, nobody wants
- 0:35Speaker 2: anything that delays any anything about the preseason. But they
- 0:41Speaker 2: got some. They got they got one tonight already.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Jeff, what is it? What is the potential for delay?
- 0:47Speaker 1: And what is the protocol when you when you have
- 0:50Speaker 1: to pause warm ups? What does that then potentially do
- 0:54Speaker 1: uh to a kickoff time?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah? I think you know that the teams need they
- 0:58Speaker 2: are allotted pregame time. You know, they would you know,
- 1:04Speaker 2: conceivably trim it down to the bare minimum. You know,
- 1:09Speaker 2: often like in the winter, you know, say, teams don't
- 1:12Speaker 2: come out of the locker room to warm up until
- 1:14Speaker 2: they're at the bare minimum. So I don't think they're
- 1:16Speaker 2: at a point yet where they'd have to push anything
- 1:20Speaker 2: back for kickoff. But it's just it's just went for
- 1:22Speaker 2: very long, but it looks like it's moving and that
- 1:25Speaker 2: there isn't much behind it in my amateur weather watching ability.
- 1:31Speaker 3: All right, well, at seven o'clock we'll find out how
- 1:33Speaker 3: good a meteorologists you really are. Jeff Lake, well, do
- 1:36Speaker 3: we know how much? We and we know that Bo's
- 1:38Speaker 3: gonna play from what Sean told us. You know anything
- 1:41Speaker 3: about jeal and Wattle?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Well, I mean I was told probably not see him tonight,
- 1:49Speaker 2: and if you really dive into it, you know, Sean
- 1:53Speaker 2: Payton did say, you know, Wednesday, he didn't want to
- 1:57Speaker 2: say Wattle was one hundred percent yet. So I don't
- 2:00Speaker 2: think they're going to risk any of that, especially for
- 2:05Speaker 2: you know, a muscle injury, for an explosive athlete. They
- 2:09Speaker 2: don't want the What happens sometimes is a guy will
- 2:13Speaker 2: feel pretty good coming back from a hamstring or a
- 2:17Speaker 2: calf string, you know, a muscle injury. They'll feel good
- 2:21Speaker 2: and then they open it up, you know, with the
- 2:24Speaker 2: full sprints in a game situation, and suddenly they've reaggravated it.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So I think they really want to avoid that. And
- 2:31Speaker 2: I was told he would not play tonight. But you know, again,
- 2:35Speaker 2: in the preseason, things can change pretty fast if they
- 2:39Speaker 2: think they want to get him some snaps. But the
- 2:42Speaker 2: last time I checked, I was totally likely would not play.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Jeff leg Well brought to you by the International Brotherhood
- 2:48Speaker 1: of Electrical Workers IBEW Local sixty eight. Start with a job,
- 2:52Speaker 1: end with a career, Jeff John Payton said, fourteen plays
- 2:55Speaker 1: for bow Knicks. What quarterback takes snap number fifteen? The
- 3:00Speaker 1: game for the Broncos offense?
- 3:02Speaker 2: Well intrigued to know that it would be Ellinger's turn,
- 3:08Speaker 2: and in practice this week there were moments when they
- 3:14Speaker 2: were sort of prepping for tonight or Ellinger was in
- 3:19Speaker 2: with the twos. But you know, I can't say for
- 3:21Speaker 2: sure because when I last spoke to Sean, they hadn't
- 3:25Speaker 2: met yet officially as the staff where they iron all
- 3:28Speaker 2: that out, like who's coming out early and all of
- 3:30Speaker 2: those things. They hadn't done that yet.
- 3:33Speaker 3: All right, Jeff, how about Taylor Rap he gets added
- 3:35Speaker 3: to this roster? What do you think they're looking for there?
- 3:38Speaker 3: Obviously you get a veteran safety, and you know, I
- 3:40Speaker 3: guess if there was a spot that you needed some
- 3:43Speaker 3: veteran depth after watching what happened when Brandon Jones went
- 3:46Speaker 3: out last year, it would be that safety position. But
- 3:49Speaker 3: what do you think they're hoping for there is Is
- 3:50Speaker 3: it a guarantee makes a roster? Is he in a
- 3:53Speaker 3: bit of a battle here.
- 3:54Speaker 2: I don't think it's a guarantee anybody you know. And
- 3:57Speaker 2: I think they obviously were comfortable enough of it. Me
- 4:02Speaker 2: he had knee surgeries last year after he heard it
- 4:06Speaker 2: in camp, tried to play through it. Six games into
- 4:09Speaker 2: the year, they shut him down, and then he had
- 4:11Speaker 2: surgery last October, So they're obviously comfortable with what they've
- 4:16Speaker 2: seen physically or what their doctors are telling them. I think, honestly,
- 4:21Speaker 2: it probably is the bottom line of they started looking
- 4:24Speaker 2: at how much use they were going to have in
- 4:28Speaker 2: the reserve spots at both linebacker and safety, and I'm
- 4:33Speaker 2: not sure they were comfortable with all of best us.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I mean, they they may well have two rookies as
- 4:39Speaker 2: the backup inside linebackers, you know, or Jordan Turner is
- 4:43Speaker 2: one of their backup inside linebackers and he's only in
- 4:46Speaker 2: second years, So I think they didn't want those two
- 4:50Speaker 2: positions to both have nothing but first or second year
- 4:56Speaker 2: players and the backups at safety right now. You know,
- 5:01Speaker 2: Devin t has played a lot in safety and played well.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Skinner's really good on special teams, but he's been spotty,
- 5:10Speaker 2: especially in coverage. Kind of lies to a lot in
- 5:14Speaker 2: coverage when he's had to play safety. So I think
- 5:18Speaker 2: this is them having looked at X number of practices
- 5:22Speaker 2: and say they want a little more comfort level. If
- 5:25Speaker 2: they can find it now, it may cost them a
- 5:28Speaker 2: young player when they're cutting to fifty three because there
- 5:32Speaker 2: isn't much rooms to these kinds of things.
- 5:36Speaker 1: Jeff, Let's venture from the second area up into the
- 5:38Speaker 1: trenches on the defensive side of the ball. You wrote
- 5:41Speaker 1: about it earlier this week with John Franklin. Myers departed
- 5:46Speaker 1: really kind of the one like consistent starter on the
- 5:49Speaker 1: defense from last year that has now gone. What's that
- 5:53Speaker 1: competition look like like? Who's rounding in the form and
- 5:56Speaker 1: looking like they're going to be taking because it's always
- 5:59Speaker 1: a highroation position, But who's going to be taking a
- 6:01Speaker 1: higher percentage of snaps than others on the D line?
- 6:06Speaker 2: Well, I think they feel like Juasa Rite is going
- 6:09Speaker 2: to be the guy who's ready to make the lead,
- 6:14Speaker 2: and he has taken a lot of the significant snaps
- 6:18Speaker 2: with the starters so far, and he obviously paid attention
- 6:23Speaker 2: in the offseason. You know, they basically told him, look,
- 6:26Speaker 2: you you've got a real chance here, but you've got
- 6:28Speaker 2: to come back stronger at the point of attack. You know,
- 6:32Speaker 2: it's not enough to just be a big guy like
- 6:35Speaker 2: sometimes in college. It's just enough to be a big
- 6:38Speaker 2: guy in there. You don't need that top level point
- 6:43Speaker 2: of attack strength to fight away. You know, guards and
- 6:47Speaker 2: centers and you need that in the NFL. And he
- 6:52Speaker 2: did what he was asked. He came back and you know,
- 6:55Speaker 2: almost a different player. So he's had a really good camp.
- 6:59Speaker 2: But I think any discomfort they had about Franklin Myers
- 7:03Speaker 2: leaving most of that discomfort at least what to be
- 7:09Speaker 2: alleviated before he played a game that matters. Most of
- 7:13Speaker 2: it's been a race because the wazerits looks so good
- 7:16Speaker 2: in camp and the rookie Tyler o'needam is when he
- 7:21Speaker 2: gets a little stronger like he will in the NFL,
- 7:25Speaker 2: he's going to be a problem for people. He's got
- 7:28Speaker 2: a It's rare from a scouting perspective to have an
- 7:35Speaker 2: interior defensive lineman with a reach of over eighty inches.
- 7:40Speaker 2: That's like a left tackle, elite left tackle arms fan
- 7:45Speaker 2: when you're scouting, and he had he's like eighty one
- 7:49Speaker 2: and three three eighth inches, which is elite offensive tackle
- 7:54Speaker 2: length on the interior in the defensive line. And when
- 7:58Speaker 2: he has the strength to maintain that extension he gets
- 8:03Speaker 2: with his arms, that's that's a big time. And he's
- 8:07Speaker 2: shown a real quickness off the ball. And I think
- 8:09Speaker 2: those two guys are going to get the bulk of
- 8:12Speaker 2: the rotations when the when the season starts.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Last one for me Legy uh Jona Coleman. How much
- 8:18Speaker 3: do you think we see tonight? They seem pretty happy
- 8:20Speaker 3: last week. So is this going to be a build
- 8:22Speaker 3: thing or they just kind of call it good?
- 8:25Speaker 2: I think they might be very tempted to call it good.
- 8:27Speaker 2: If we do see it, it won't be much. And uh,
- 8:31Speaker 2: like I say, I was told after he had the
- 8:34Speaker 2: really nice run last week with the spin out of
- 8:38Speaker 2: a tackle and a power finish. Uh, there was a
- 8:43Speaker 2: pretty strong declarative statement on the headset to get him
- 8:47Speaker 2: out of there. And Uh, I think that's I think
- 8:50Speaker 2: that's where they're at. They've answered all the questions they
- 8:52Speaker 2: have about mister Coleman, what about.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Bo Nick's questions? Jeff, I would you know, kind of
- 8:57Speaker 1: call him a classic B student here in this training camp.
- 9:01Speaker 1: You know, he's largely been fine. He aised his favorite subject,
- 9:08Speaker 1: the two minute drill, uh, and he has struggled in
- 9:11Speaker 1: other areas. What should we be looking for out of
- 9:14Speaker 1: bone Nicks tonight, Well.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You know, it's really hard. I mean, he's basically attacking
- 9:22Speaker 2: the same problems he had last year, which is especial.
- 9:25Speaker 2: You know, if Waddell doesn't play, and and you know
- 9:28Speaker 2: again I was told a few days ago he wouldn't,
- 9:30Speaker 2: but if Lonnald doesn't play, he's essentially wrestling with the
- 9:34Speaker 2: same offense uh he had last year and the issues
- 9:38Speaker 2: they had with that. And I'm granted it's the preseason,
- 9:41Speaker 2: but I think tonight the bar of expectations is really
- 9:47Speaker 2: just be efficient, get in and out of the huddle,
- 9:50Speaker 2: get to the line of scrimmage. They want to see
- 9:52Speaker 2: that stuff be worked out because that's where a lot
- 9:56Speaker 2: of his anks last year was just not quick enough
- 10:02Speaker 2: to the line of scrimmits, where you know they can
- 10:04Speaker 2: adjust things. So I think they want to see that tonight.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I think they will certainly give him a little play
- 10:11Speaker 2: action or something early, just to get them those completions
- 10:16Speaker 2: right out of the date. You know, run his run,
- 10:19Speaker 2: his three favorite vanilla plays right away, get them a
- 10:24Speaker 2: couple of completions, get the offense a couple first downs,
- 10:28Speaker 2: and then you know, just dial some things in after that.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And they're not we're not going to show the the
- 10:35Speaker 2: top shelf stuff yet or anything, but what he does run.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I think they're looking for efficiency, some smoothness and and
- 10:43Speaker 2: to move the ball, and you know they certainly want
- 10:45Speaker 2: to touchdown out of it.
- 10:47Speaker 1: History to be made tonight bo Nicks's first ever game
- 10:50Speaker 1: with Davis Webb as his play caller. Jeff Legwaald, everybody, ESPN,
- 10:55Speaker 1: that is where you get Jeff stuff, Leggy enjoyant man. Thanks.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:59Speaker 3: By the way, it looks like they're already back on
- 11:00Speaker 3: the field, so Jeff called it captain. Captain meteorologists. Add
- 11:04Speaker 3: that to your list of stuff, Legwall.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Nice job, skilling, well done.
- 11:08Speaker 2: As you know, what what do you? What are you
- 11:11Speaker 2: some kind of meteorologists? Think manning close? Thank you both,
