- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with her radio Hi,
- 0:05Speaker 1: Bob Guinea, Tristan Sutter name, Yeah, that's me and O G.
- 0:14Speaker 1: A F O G podcast coming to you live. Well,
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm sure it's not live. I am. It's been a
- 0:25Speaker 1: crazy busy week. Thank you for being flexible. I was
- 0:29Speaker 1: speaking of love, which we do so often. I was
- 0:32Speaker 1: just in San Francisco witnessing the nuptials of my brother
- 0:37Speaker 1: in law, my wife's younger brother, and uh yeah, very
- 0:41Speaker 1: unconventional guy. So he did a very unconventional wedding on
- 0:44Speaker 1: a Tuesday in San fran That's crazy. Was it during
- 0:48Speaker 1: the day or during at night? At least? So people
- 0:51Speaker 1: during the day for in the afternoon, my gosh, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: who's gotten or it on a Tuesday, Tuesday at three o'clock. Well,
- 1:02Speaker 1: the original plan was that they were going to go
- 1:04Speaker 1: to the courthouse, and they had this courthouse they loved
- 1:06Speaker 1: in San Francisco, and so I think that's why the
- 1:09Speaker 1: time and the day were kind of reserved. And then
- 1:12Speaker 1: they change their mind and decided they're going to do
- 1:14Speaker 1: it at the Rotunda, which is at the Palace of
- 1:16Speaker 1: the Fine Arts right downtown San Francisco. Very beautiful location. Yeah,
- 1:20Speaker 1: very pretty but definitely unconventional so it was fun. Though
- 1:24Speaker 1: it was fun. I mean, that's a way to get
- 1:26Speaker 1: your location. Do it on a Tuesday at three pm,
- 1:29Speaker 1: and I'll bet you save money on a location Fezza
- 1:31Speaker 1: and I can't imagine high demand time. But I'd like
- 1:35Speaker 1: to take a moment to wish them a very happy
- 1:37Speaker 1: life together. And I thought it was a wonderful wedding,
- 1:41Speaker 1: so I was proud to be there for them. That's
- 1:43Speaker 1: very sweet. I would also like to take a moment
- 1:47Speaker 1: to congratulate or I hate saying congratulations for this, but
- 1:51Speaker 1: to say I'm really happy for Lauren and Chris Lane,
- 1:56Speaker 1: who just announced that they are pregnant with their second baby.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I am just so happy for them. Dotton, their little
- 2:04Speaker 1: boy is freaking cutest. I am obsessed with him on Instagram,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Like any time she has a story, I'm just like,
- 2:12Speaker 1: I love that kid. I want to meet him some
- 2:14Speaker 1: day in person, and just pleasing me so cute. Um
- 2:18Speaker 1: she does have she she did talk about how she
- 2:21Speaker 1: was diagnosed with something. I think it was called, uh
- 2:25Speaker 1: something chord insertion minor chord insertion. I can't remember what
- 2:31Speaker 1: it's called, but it's basically where I guess the cord
- 2:35Speaker 1: inserts into the placenta close to the uterine wall or
- 2:41Speaker 1: or near the wall instead of in the center of
- 2:43Speaker 1: the placenta, so it could potentially mean that the baby
- 2:47Speaker 1: won't get as many nutrients as it should. So for
- 2:53Speaker 1: another reason, marginal umbilical cord insertion. Thank you. Anyway, it
- 3:00Speaker 1: seems a little scary, um, I mean, when you're diagnosed
- 3:03Speaker 1: with anything, when you're pregnant. I know I was diagnosed
- 3:06Speaker 1: with tons of stuff. It is terrifying. At least she's
- 3:10Speaker 1: had one, so she knows that all can go well,
- 3:14Speaker 1: and hopefully it does. I'm sending her my love my prayers,
- 3:18Speaker 1: um that this this pregnancy is just as healthy or
- 3:21Speaker 1: healthier for Dutton's and they get to welcome a sweet
- 3:27Speaker 1: little baby. Oh, I'm not going to see a boy
- 3:30Speaker 1: or girl. Yeah, yeah, I hope so too. I don't
- 3:32Speaker 1: know her personally, she seems lovely and then, um, I've
- 3:36Speaker 1: got friends who are mutual friends with Chris, so I
- 3:38Speaker 1: feel like I know them even though I don't. But man,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I sure hope, I sure hope it all goes well,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and you know, everything comes through in wonderful fashion for
- 3:47Speaker 1: both of them. Yeah, agreed. I mean another Bachelor Baby,
- 3:51Speaker 1: even though they didn't meet really through the Bachelor and
- 3:54Speaker 1: he wasn't from the Bachelor. She is, And of course
- 3:58Speaker 1: everybody that is part of the show was part of
- 4:00Speaker 1: Bachelor Nation. And I'm really excited for another Bachelor Baby,
- 4:04Speaker 1: I know, speaking of people who are part of the
- 4:07Speaker 1: show that are part of Bachelor Nation. A little bit
- 4:09Speaker 1: later to we're going to be joined by a very
- 4:11Speaker 1: special guest who was a huge pivotal person in both
- 4:15Speaker 1: of our experiences on both The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. Well,
- 4:21Speaker 1: you're the Bachelor, then the Bachelotte, and then me the Bachelorte,
- 4:23Speaker 1: then the Bachelor, and um, you're very excited to have
- 4:26Speaker 1: him on. The producer for the show named Jason Carbone,
- 4:28Speaker 1: who I like to call him Carbone and arcolect carbon
- 4:32Speaker 1: and narcoleptokok is what I call him. Please. Yes, I'll
- 4:38Speaker 1: explain it when he's here, but I will tell you
- 4:42Speaker 1: it has to do with sleeping, uh in weird places,
- 4:46Speaker 1: and so yeah, because that's what you have to do
- 4:48Speaker 1: as a producer. You got to catch a cat time.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I'm telling you, right, how else you gonna never get
- 4:54Speaker 1: any rest. I mean, honestly, most of the time, they
- 4:57Speaker 1: are on set all hours of the night too. They
- 5:01Speaker 1: don't all the time get to go home, especially the
- 5:04Speaker 1: people who are with the lead, because the lead is
- 5:06Speaker 1: always as we both know, you don't get a lot
- 5:09Speaker 1: of sleep. You don't we would come back. I'll never
- 5:14Speaker 1: forget when I when I really started realizing, because you know,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I think you know, the process in and of itself
- 5:20Speaker 1: can make you a little a little self absorbed, right,
- 5:23Speaker 1: because everything is sort of around you. And and I
- 5:26Speaker 1: remember I was complaining about being tired or something, and
- 5:30Speaker 1: I remember Carbone and and Saliencelsano both are like, bro um,
- 5:36Speaker 1: We're with you on everything. And when you actually do
- 5:40Speaker 1: go to sleep, we're over at the house with the
- 5:42Speaker 1: ladies filming them. I'm like, oh my god, or editing
- 5:45Speaker 1: or talking to the you know, execs or whatever. Yeah,
- 5:49Speaker 1: makes you realize you can't really complain in those moments
- 5:51Speaker 1: because you know you're you're at least getting to have
- 5:53Speaker 1: fun and do fun things, and so are they. But
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, it's it's a definitely experience. But what I
- 5:59Speaker 1: loved and I'm sure probably had a similar experience to me,
- 6:01Speaker 1: and this one is several of the producers, even though
- 6:04Speaker 1: technically they're not supposed to became your friends and became
- 6:09Speaker 1: people that you you know, and and Jason was definitely
- 6:12Speaker 1: one of those people. I feel like he was. He
- 6:15Speaker 1: was a friend of both of us and still is
- 6:17Speaker 1: to this day. And um, so you know, I can't
- 6:21Speaker 1: wait to talk with him when we have that opportunity.
- 6:25Speaker 1: And I have to say that we were going to
- 6:26Speaker 1: have Ashley Eden's on, but she's sick so she couldn't
- 6:30Speaker 1: show up. So Ashley, if you're listening, we really wish
- 6:32Speaker 1: you could have been here today, and hopefully we'll have
- 6:35Speaker 1: her on um in an upcoming show. I would love.
- 6:39Speaker 1: We haven't brought this up yet, but we need to
- 6:41Speaker 1: have our spouses on this show. Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Danyan will not do it, probably without you calling her
- 6:48Speaker 1: and telling her she has to do it. If I say, okay, baby,
- 6:50Speaker 1: let's go on the show, she'll be like, now, if
- 6:52Speaker 1: you call, she'll probably do it. So we'll see what happens.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Although although you saw what happens when our kids are
- 6:58Speaker 1: left unattended. Oh um, you know you saw Grayson come
- 7:01Speaker 1: in here and ramshackle this place, so I'm not sure
- 7:04Speaker 1: that's a good idea we might have top we should have. Um,
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm sure Sugarman would pay for a babysitter. You know what,
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'll call her, I'll get I'll get Sugarman on the line.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Sure I need a nanny. I want to have my
- 7:15Speaker 1: wife on the episode. Yeah, let's bring him in. I'm excited.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Jason Carbone is coming, my boy, ingredients and salutations, Mr Guinea.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I unfortunately don't have a guinea at the ready. Oh
- 7:42Speaker 1: now see that's that's problematic because I always do. My
- 7:46Speaker 1: friend there you go always does. Welcome to the show,
- 7:53Speaker 1: the almost famous o G Podcast starring yours truly tristerren
- 7:58Speaker 1: Nay Sutter or the Sutter and a Rent and uh
- 8:02Speaker 1: Me TV's Bob Getting Now, Jason, I want to have
- 8:06Speaker 1: you help me with this real quickly, before we get
- 8:08Speaker 1: into why we both mutually love you. I told Trista
- 8:11Speaker 1: that when when you and I were spending so much
- 8:14Speaker 1: time together two seasons in a row there that you
- 8:18Speaker 1: you came under the name of Jason Carbona Narcoleptico. Yes, indeed,
- 8:23Speaker 1: And she's like, you need to explain that. I said, no, No,
- 8:26Speaker 1: we're gonna wait, We're gonna hold off on this until
- 8:28Speaker 1: Jason's here. Um, so one of you know how Trista
- 8:32Speaker 1: every season they do the I'm not sure they don't
- 8:37Speaker 1: do the bloopers anymore really, but they also don't do
- 8:41Speaker 1: they don't do that pre interview that you did to
- 8:44Speaker 1: sit down for where the event in question occurred. Yes,
- 8:48Speaker 1: that's a valid point. So we did, like the pre
- 8:51Speaker 1: interview with with Harrison, Yes, yeah, and so you know this,
- 8:57Speaker 1: this did show up in my blooper reel at the
- 8:59Speaker 1: end of the season because Jason, you know, like we
- 9:03Speaker 1: were just talking about, you know, if if if one
- 9:05Speaker 1: of the leads would ever complain about how tired they
- 9:07Speaker 1: must be, all they really had to do was put
- 9:09Speaker 1: themselves in your body for the for the wet uh
- 9:14Speaker 1: six weeks now eight twelve weeks, whatever they do. Um,
- 9:17Speaker 1: because not only were you with us at all times
- 9:19Speaker 1: and everything we were doing, but then you were also editing,
- 9:22Speaker 1: talking to the you know, the girls at the mansion, uh,
- 9:25Speaker 1: you know, dealing with whoever whoever, and so the people
- 9:31Speaker 1: that were really probably even more exhausted than than us,
- 9:35Speaker 1: had to be you the producers. Right, Well, I look
- 9:39Speaker 1: at it the same way I kind of look at
- 9:41Speaker 1: my then tolerance to booze. It was an acquired skill set, right,
- 9:48Speaker 1: So like over time, you know, like when I was younger,
- 9:54Speaker 1: uh and doing this show, I could drink far more
- 9:56Speaker 1: than I can drink today. Conversionly, it took a while
- 10:01Speaker 1: to get to that level of tolerance. And in the
- 10:03Speaker 1: same way, it took a little while to get to
- 10:06Speaker 1: you know, you were at that point, Bob, I want
- 10:08Speaker 1: to say season or yes, yes, right, so you have
- 10:14Speaker 1: like the fourth run of this So at that point
- 10:16Speaker 1: in time, I had had my track shoes. I've been
- 10:18Speaker 1: to the Nike factory and they were of your game. Yes,
- 10:24Speaker 1: pretty close to it. So free interview And in the
- 10:29Speaker 1: middle of the interview, like Chris asks me a pressing question,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and I remember thinking like is there any truly pressing questions?
- 10:36Speaker 1: One I remember pontificating and sitting there thinking to myself
- 10:41Speaker 1: And while I paused, I hear no ye and Harrison
- 10:48Speaker 1: and I are both looking at each other here again,
- 10:51Speaker 1: and we're like, what is going on? Is there a
- 10:53Speaker 1: bear on the loose? Like where are we? I mean,
- 10:55Speaker 1: we are in Malibul. You never know what could happen.
- 10:57Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden we realize Jason he
- 11:00Speaker 1: had laid down behind the couch or whatever with you know,
- 11:03Speaker 1: his headset on and is is it all that stuff?
- 11:06Speaker 1: And he dozed off. He needed to catch a cat
- 11:08Speaker 1: nap before that evening's festivities and uh, and so that
- 11:13Speaker 1: was there. That was the onset of Jason carbon and NARCOLEPTICOC.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So just to put a finishing button on this, I
- 11:23Speaker 1: have subsequently been diagnosed with sleep atnia and I now
- 11:28Speaker 1: sleep with a c PAP machine. So not only was
- 11:32Speaker 1: I working really hard, but I was dying several times
- 11:35Speaker 1: a night, every night. Uh, in my sleep. Yeah, because
- 11:40Speaker 1: you stopped breathing with sleep atnia. Oh my gosh. So
- 11:44Speaker 1: now I thought machine that I travel with, and I
- 11:49Speaker 1: literally I feel like I did when I was sixteen again,
- 11:54Speaker 1: where like sleeping very well. And you know, as I
- 12:00Speaker 1: refer to that machine now was the life extender. Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: well you look younger, you look at me. Yep. I
- 12:11Speaker 1: got a wife who cooks like she's a shift So
- 12:15Speaker 1: I bet she's got the good stuff. She's legit. A
- 12:18Speaker 1: few family dinners there at the Carbone household, and I
- 12:21Speaker 1: will say they were always delicious. And of course you're
- 12:24Speaker 1: a proud father. Proudly I mean, so let's ask you this.
- 12:27Speaker 1: When you came off the show, and I know, I
- 12:29Speaker 1: know you. You came off, you went off and started
- 12:31Speaker 1: your own production company and immediately jumped into doing a
- 12:33Speaker 1: whole bunch of different things Life of Ryan, a bunch
- 12:35Speaker 1: of different things of that nature. Um, were you like
- 12:38Speaker 1: finally at that point, like, oh my god, I'm off
- 12:40Speaker 1: the hamster wheel, like I I can get some sleep.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Or was it just did that just shoot you into
- 12:45Speaker 1: the next level? It's just a different hamster wheel, Bob. Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's like you know, it's it's that realization you have
- 12:54Speaker 1: when you set a goal for yourself and you climbed
- 12:56Speaker 1: to the top of the mountain and you get there
- 12:58Speaker 1: and you're just like, man, I'm at the top of
- 13:00Speaker 1: the mountain, and when you start to look around, you
- 13:03Speaker 1: realize there's thousands of other peaks that you're not at
- 13:07Speaker 1: the top of the mountain. Just so, it's it's as
- 13:14Speaker 1: long as you want to have a career and as
- 13:18Speaker 1: long as you want to continue to be paid to
- 13:22Speaker 1: be creative, you're constantly you're you're constantly you know. It's
- 13:30Speaker 1: it's the thing that nobody realizes is that you know,
- 13:32Speaker 1: we're all independent contractors, right, like we all are looking
- 13:38Speaker 1: for our next gig. So when I went to work
- 13:41Speaker 1: for Mike on The Bachelor, he offered me something that
- 13:45Speaker 1: I hadn't had in a long time, and that was security. Right.
- 13:48Speaker 1: He was just like, here's a two year contract. Um.
- 13:51Speaker 1: At that point in time, he had just sold the
- 13:54Speaker 1: idea of The Bachelor, and he had just showed the
- 13:57Speaker 1: idea of a show called High School Reunion, and he
- 14:00Speaker 1: was the first two shows that I'm going to make.
- 14:03Speaker 1: And you know, he said directly to me, he said,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I can come up with these ideas and I can
- 14:09Speaker 1: be crazier than the next guy. I need somebody to
- 14:12Speaker 1: make the stuff. And you know that's what he was. Hey.
- 14:17Speaker 1: So I would love to know, um, if you remember
- 14:23Speaker 1: being part of either of our our interview like interviews,
- 14:30Speaker 1: you know, like when we were audition interviews. Were you there?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Were you in the room with both of us? Okay?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Can you tell us? Like I I remember only a little,
- 14:42Speaker 1: you know, little bits and pieces, but I love like
- 14:46Speaker 1: your perspective from those those moments. So, Trista for yours,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you were the first cast that we saw in mass
- 14:56Speaker 1: right because on your season, it was the very first
- 14:59Speaker 1: time we were casting bachelorettes and so, but were you
- 15:03Speaker 1: there for Bachelor too? Were you there for Bachelor for both,
- 15:06Speaker 1: but it was the first time we were casting bachelorettes
- 15:09Speaker 1: for our Bachelor, right, we were casting twenty women to
- 15:13Speaker 1: meet Alex Michelle so um when we did it at
- 15:18Speaker 1: the Universe at Universal in one of the hotels that
- 15:21Speaker 1: I want to say, the Hilton or the Sheraton, and
- 15:24Speaker 1: we had a conference room and we were shooting it
- 15:28Speaker 1: and you guys thought we were shooting it for tape
- 15:30Speaker 1: to be on the show, but we were also be
- 15:33Speaker 1: mean all of that into another big room where a
- 15:36Speaker 1: bunch of executives and ABC folks were all sitting there
- 15:39Speaker 1: with food and drink and hanging out and imagining it
- 15:43Speaker 1: like it's a TV show and everyone's making your notes.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Yeah exactly. So it's, uh, you know, the thing that
- 15:51Speaker 1: you have to remember for your first season, Tristo, when
- 15:54Speaker 1: you were you were competing with twenty four other women
- 15:57Speaker 1: for Alex's affection. We needed to prove the thesis of
- 16:04Speaker 1: the show and proved that it was a legitimate way
- 16:08Speaker 1: to find romance. Like now we all take it for granted,
- 16:12Speaker 1: but you know, back then we had to prove to
- 16:16Speaker 1: the audience that this wasn't Alart right, and so the
- 16:20Speaker 1: part of that was Alex had degrees from Stanford and Harvard.
- 16:25Speaker 1: He was really smart, and that alone validated it from
- 16:29Speaker 1: his perspective. And conversely, if you look at that group
- 16:34Speaker 1: of ladies compared to where they are today, we had doctors, lawyers,
- 16:41Speaker 1: we had legit people, because again, we were trying to
- 16:45Speaker 1: prove a theory. We were trying to prove invalidate that
- 16:49Speaker 1: this wasn't just a television show, but a legitimate way
- 16:53Speaker 1: a man and woman could meet and fall in love.
- 16:56Speaker 1: And in order to do that, we needed a higher
- 16:59Speaker 1: caliber of contestants than I believe they go after the day. Yeah,
- 17:05Speaker 1: that's interesting. Um, so, do you remember anything specific about
- 17:11Speaker 1: anything that we said or anything we did that stood
- 17:14Speaker 1: out that everyone we were laughing at at us about
- 17:19Speaker 1: you were both slam dunks. Let's be honest, Trista. You
- 17:22Speaker 1: were a nurse working with physicals okay, all good, working
- 17:28Speaker 1: with children while also sidelining as a Miami Heat cheerleader.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Check check check check check check check checked. Yeah, no doubt.
- 17:39Speaker 1: And you're you're incredibly smart, very articulate, beautiful, studyingly beautiful
- 17:45Speaker 1: like you. You literally checked everything we were looking for,
- 17:50Speaker 1: and in the room Lisa and I were like tough
- 17:52Speaker 1: for yeah number one. No, I'm just kidding. That's what
- 17:59Speaker 1: I always say, Like top four about Ryan when everyone's
- 18:02Speaker 1: like did you meet did you fall in love with him?
- 18:04Speaker 1: The first night? And I'm like, he was top four.
- 18:06Speaker 1: He was one of my top four, you know, he
- 18:09Speaker 1: was favorite, early favorite, Yeah, early favorite. World World really
- 18:13Speaker 1: kind of put put him up a notch yea, yeah, yeah,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I think what I mean the playfulness, but also the
- 18:21Speaker 1: poem that ended up being the poem that he changed
- 18:24Speaker 1: into a song and it was our first dance. Um,
- 18:26Speaker 1: we had like that really awkward kiss. Oh and speaking
- 18:30Speaker 1: of awkward, okay, I have to pere moment Jamie blythe
- 18:35Speaker 1: what what no? No no? Not that one said the
- 18:40Speaker 1: word awkward, sorry was triggered awkward Jamie Blythe what no
- 18:44Speaker 1: no awkward was in Seattle. Oh yeah, here we go,
- 18:50Speaker 1: he knows. So in Seattle we get the note that
- 18:55Speaker 1: that you know we can we can forego or into
- 18:58Speaker 1: individual rooms to spend the night stayed together in the
- 19:02Speaker 1: fantasy suite. Sweet yes yours like check please didn at
- 19:08Speaker 1: all so Ryan was like check please, and he's like
- 19:11Speaker 1: paying the guy to speed to get to the hotel.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We get there, we look at the hotel and all
- 19:16Speaker 1: of its its beauty, and we proceed to hang out
- 19:20Speaker 1: on the couch, hang out meaning make out on the
- 19:23Speaker 1: couch as Jason, I feel like you were maybe in
- 19:28Speaker 1: front of us. No, it was at the W Hotel.
- 19:32Speaker 1: It was at the W. You had part of the
- 19:35Speaker 1: date on a house post after this exactly. That was
- 19:38Speaker 1: earlier that day, and that was hot and steamy too.
- 19:41Speaker 1: That this particular part was like yeah, for sure about
- 19:50Speaker 1: it couldn't have been better than with Greg though at
- 19:52Speaker 1: his apartment that was pretty cool. But no, so we're
- 19:57Speaker 1: making out and Jason is sitting like, I know, twenty
- 20:00Speaker 1: feet away something like that, and it had been how
- 20:04Speaker 1: long do you think it was? I think it was
- 20:06Speaker 1: probably like two hours? Stop yourself, you have no sense
- 20:12Speaker 1: of time. Was not a two hour makeout session, not
- 20:17Speaker 1: even but but but but you know what, you were
- 20:22Speaker 1: lost in the moment triest and had no meaning. Yeah
- 20:26Speaker 1: until we were like, dude, can you please leave because
- 20:29Speaker 1: we really just want to have this fantasy suite to
- 20:33Speaker 1: ourselves Like that was always awkward and even in Guinea's season,
- 20:40Speaker 1: like we changed that, we changed it up a little
- 20:42Speaker 1: bit because we had, uh, there's a great shot that
- 20:46Speaker 1: never saw the light of day. But in one of
- 20:49Speaker 1: Bob's fantasy suites, we had a camera set up in
- 20:52Speaker 1: the corner that was on record, and Bob and I
- 20:57Speaker 1: forget who it was, went into the bedroom and they
- 20:59Speaker 1: were canoe to leading. All of a sudden, Bobs like,
- 21:01Speaker 1: what's that red light over there? And you put me
- 21:06Speaker 1: on high alert. He made a bee line for it,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, we got to use that
- 21:11Speaker 1: bee line of Bob going and turning off the camera
- 21:13Speaker 1: because that was that was a good shot, right It
- 21:17Speaker 1: was a different way of shutting the door and putting
- 21:19Speaker 1: the tag on it. They would use that nowadays. Right
- 21:23Speaker 1: like then it was like, no, we can't. You know, yeah, definitely.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Well I remember I remember being with Jason and so
- 21:31Speaker 1: many circumstances, and always the hard part was, you know,
- 21:35Speaker 1: because we had become true friends. It's like I I'd
- 21:39Speaker 1: looked to you for advice on things, and when things
- 21:41Speaker 1: would be froggy and weird, I'd be like, and you know,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you forget you're on camera and you're supposed to be,
- 21:47Speaker 1: you know, just laboring over a decision, and I'm just
- 21:49Speaker 1: like Carbone, man, what do you think. I don't even know.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm just lost right now. And He's like,
- 21:55Speaker 1: look over there, you like, you know, I'm here, Yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 1: not not in the room here, Yeah, totally. That is
- 22:05Speaker 1: so true. You want to have those conversations with these people,
- 22:08Speaker 1: including you, Sally Anne, Lise Levinson, whomever was participating, Ashley
- 22:14Speaker 1: Eden's who was supposed to be on the call today
- 22:17Speaker 1: but she's sick so she can't be here. But I
- 22:21Speaker 1: know I love Ashley, um. But you know, whoever was there,
- 22:27Speaker 1: you wanted to have a conversation. And it is a
- 22:29Speaker 1: really kind of weird, hard situation that the leads have
- 22:34Speaker 1: to be put in because you have to act like
- 22:37Speaker 1: no one is around and you get used to it,
- 22:40Speaker 1: but it is true. It's like, you know, we're around
- 22:43Speaker 1: you guys. Um, you know when we're sleeping and you're not,
- 22:48Speaker 1: or you're sleeping and we're not sleeping. Now there's not
- 22:53Speaker 1: a lot of that, not a lot. I think it's
- 22:56Speaker 1: interesting because like with both of you, I developed a
- 23:00Speaker 1: relationship past the television show. Right, this is now, This
- 23:04Speaker 1: is now over a decade's relationship, right, And I was
- 23:09Speaker 1: at your wedding, Trista, and we're for Bob you as
- 23:12Speaker 1: you've gone from NBC to this or that, like we're
- 23:15Speaker 1: always in constant contact. And I think that, you know,
- 23:19Speaker 1: I can't say that about all of the seasons I did, right,
- 23:23Speaker 1: But I would also say that on both of your seasons, like,
- 23:28Speaker 1: I think the producers made time off camera to make
- 23:33Speaker 1: sure that you were supported and you felt that stuff
- 23:39Speaker 1: was going on that was sometimes larger than the show,
- 23:42Speaker 1: and we understood that, and there were times that the
- 23:45Speaker 1: show needed to take a back seat to what you
- 23:47Speaker 1: guys were dealing with. And you know, I think that, um,
- 23:52Speaker 1: you know, I dare say there was a bit of
- 23:54Speaker 1: a heart there at the time, you know where I
- 23:57Speaker 1: think now it's a little less annesty and a little
- 24:01Speaker 1: more reality TV. I agree. Yeah. We we've actually had
- 24:05Speaker 1: that discussion on this show quite a bit where it's
- 24:07Speaker 1: been like, you know, how things changed over the years,
- 24:09Speaker 1: and the comedy of it is it's it's it's literally
- 24:13Speaker 1: night and day. I mean, the show is called the
- 24:15Speaker 1: same thing, but when it really comes down to it,
- 24:17Speaker 1: you know, I mean, for for trista season or for
- 24:20Speaker 1: mine really too for that matter. I mean, especially on
- 24:23Speaker 1: Trista season of The Bachelrette, we had no idea what
- 24:26Speaker 1: you're getting into. Right. It was the first time she
- 24:28Speaker 1: was on, the first time the show had ever been taped,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden, she's doing the first
- 24:33Speaker 1: version of the female lead, and so it now it's
- 24:37Speaker 1: a lot like I'll just be really candid there, like
- 24:43Speaker 1: she was the torch bearer, and she was the torch
- 24:45Speaker 1: bearer on a television show that very easily could have
- 24:49Speaker 1: feared into slut shaming, and h we we worked really
- 24:55Speaker 1: hard for that not to happen. But you know, I
- 24:58Speaker 1: don't want to speak out of school, but but I
- 25:00Speaker 1: recall several instances where it was abundantly clear to me
- 25:06Speaker 1: that there was no need to shoot anything, but there
- 25:09Speaker 1: was a need to spend some time with Trista to
- 25:11Speaker 1: make sure that, um, that everything was a okay. But
- 25:18Speaker 1: more importantly, like when you get on that wheel and
- 25:24Speaker 1: it gets going, there are times where my job is
- 25:30Speaker 1: to acknowledge that the star of the show can't keep
- 25:34Speaker 1: that wheel going and we need to either help them
- 25:37Speaker 1: and run next to them or oftentimes literally pick them
- 25:42Speaker 1: up get off the hamster wheel and say we're taking
- 25:46Speaker 1: a break and when we're we're good, we'll get back
- 25:49Speaker 1: on that hamster wheel. But it's not until you're good.
- 25:51Speaker 1: And I think that I can recall two instances off
- 25:54Speaker 1: the top of my head where Tristan needed that time
- 25:57Speaker 1: and it was just like I get it, Like we're asking.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I don't think people realize just what is required when
- 26:06Speaker 1: you are the lead on this television show. You can
- 26:10Speaker 1: have an idea, but even talk to people that are
- 26:12Speaker 1: on the show now, when they get into that role,
- 26:15Speaker 1: they will still tell you you'd think you know, but
- 26:18Speaker 1: you don't know. Yeah, you know, you can't know until
- 26:21Speaker 1: you're really in that position. Do do you recall those
- 26:35Speaker 1: two instances? What? Because of course I'm on the wheel,
- 26:40Speaker 1: so all I'm thinking about is the wheel and the
- 26:42Speaker 1: guys and my emotions and trying to keep it all
- 26:44Speaker 1: straight in my head. And um, like, I think it's
- 26:49Speaker 1: really interesting to talk to you from your perspective, like
- 26:51Speaker 1: you're watching us go through this knowing what the what
- 26:55Speaker 1: the premises, what we're hoping for at the end, and
- 26:59Speaker 1: you see us actually going through all of these emotions,
- 27:03Speaker 1: but from a distance, like you can't always be in
- 27:07Speaker 1: it with us or talk to us about it while
- 27:10Speaker 1: it's happening. So I'd love to hear your perspective, like
- 27:13Speaker 1: what were those moments? Um? Well, for me, just real
- 27:17Speaker 1: quick and I'll talk to those moments. I think that, Um,
- 27:21Speaker 1: while I didn't study psychology in college, this show was
- 27:29Speaker 1: a wonderful um place to learn about the human condition. Sure,
- 27:36Speaker 1: I think it's one of the reason that reasons that
- 27:38Speaker 1: people loved watching it in the beginning at least, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 1: ye for me, I was able, you know you you
- 27:46Speaker 1: know I did between and Bachelor. I think I did
- 27:50Speaker 1: eight seasons of the show, right. So, like anything, when
- 27:54Speaker 1: you turn around and you look backwards, you begin to
- 27:59Speaker 1: see things that line up, and so you're beginning to
- 28:02Speaker 1: see patterns emerge, and you're beginning to see, oh, when
- 28:06Speaker 1: this happens, that happens, and so you begin to see
- 28:09Speaker 1: cause and effect emotionally in a different way. And so
- 28:14Speaker 1: it got to the point at the end where you're
- 28:17Speaker 1: almost able to predict what's going to happen, and oftentimes
- 28:22Speaker 1: altered circumstances, so something different happens because you know, if
- 28:26Speaker 1: you do there, you go so um, but to yours,
- 28:31Speaker 1: like one I'll be really honest. One was when uh,
- 28:35Speaker 1: we were shooting a video because if you remember that season,
- 28:40Speaker 1: you made videos that you sent to us for the
- 28:43Speaker 1: faith right, and they popped in a little tape into
- 28:46Speaker 1: the VCR. We had made a custom Chargers jersey into
- 29:00Speaker 1: a dress, and you know those jerseys have a lot
- 29:06Speaker 1: of holes in them, and so when Trista put it on,
- 29:14Speaker 1: there was a moment where Trista wasn't necessarily comfortable wearing
- 29:18Speaker 1: the outfit, right, So there was a moment where I said, Trista,
- 29:23Speaker 1: I totally get it. You need to be comfortable. Why
- 29:25Speaker 1: don't you go upstairs take a look at yourself in
- 29:27Speaker 1: the mirror. If you're not comfortable, will change something. We'll
- 29:31Speaker 1: do this. We'll do that knowing full well that life
- 29:33Speaker 1: is the biggest Charger fan in the world. I'm gonna
- 29:39Speaker 1: get fired, But I have to say that Trista is
- 29:44Speaker 1: good to go, because this is early on and we're
- 29:47Speaker 1: still in group dates. You know, we're early in the show,
- 29:49Speaker 1: and I don't want to disappoint Trista at all, let
- 29:53Speaker 1: alone in the first week of shooting. Yeah, So that
- 29:56Speaker 1: was one other, and I know Bob remembers that moment.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I remember him being because that that No, that wasn't
- 30:05Speaker 1: the serial date. That was the Chargers date because I
- 30:08Speaker 1: was wearing the Chargers jersey. I remember you in the jersey.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I remember the whole video. I remember standing there talking
- 30:14Speaker 1: to a little child up and it was a reveal
- 30:17Speaker 1: and on my legs. Yeah, it was crazy in the house.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Exactly what you anticipated, you know it was. It was
- 30:28Speaker 1: a big moment in the house and all those guys
- 30:30Speaker 1: were thrilled to be going to a Chargers game. Yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 1: it was really fun. I still have my jersey from
- 30:36Speaker 1: oh gosh, what was the player's name? And I threw
- 30:39Speaker 1: past a dog freaking flutie like dog flutie. It was awesome,
- 30:44Speaker 1: and met Drew Brees that's when he was with the Chargers.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Lee LT that wasn't LT came out and gave me
- 30:52Speaker 1: a jersey. Yeah, that was a really fun date. Um anyway, Okay,
- 30:57Speaker 1: enough about me. I don't want to talk about me.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I want to know if you had the opportunity to
- 31:03Speaker 1: work on the show, with all of the changes that
- 31:06Speaker 1: have happened to date, would you, like we always get
- 31:09Speaker 1: the question, would you be on the show if you
- 31:13Speaker 1: knew everything about the Bachelor to date? Would you be
- 31:16Speaker 1: on it? Now? So the same goes for you, would
- 31:20Speaker 1: you would you do the show? Would you do Paradise
- 31:23Speaker 1: or not Paradise? Bachelor in Paradise? Would you do? Um?
- 31:30Speaker 1: You know, it was a different time when we did
- 31:36Speaker 1: the show, right. It was literally like the Beatles were
- 31:40Speaker 1: coming to town. When we rolled. It was like doors
- 31:46Speaker 1: opened up. Things that you didn't anticipate even being possible
- 31:51Speaker 1: were suddenly possible. And that's not to say that those
- 31:54Speaker 1: things don't happen on today's show, but I believe then
- 31:58Speaker 1: there was a level of uh intimacy amongst everybody where
- 32:03Speaker 1: we were all in this together. It was that kind
- 32:07Speaker 1: of sense, and so there was a familial aspect to
- 32:10Speaker 1: it that I thought was really important. But I think
- 32:13Speaker 1: the most important thing, and I think this is the
- 32:15Speaker 1: biggest difference between then and now, is we really were
- 32:21Speaker 1: doing a Disney show. We were doing Cinderella. Right. It
- 32:25Speaker 1: was like the you're going to the ball, you have
- 32:28Speaker 1: a chance to fall in love with the prince. It's
- 32:30Speaker 1: a ticking clock toick to kick, and we're all the
- 32:33Speaker 1: mice and the you know, you know, fairy Godmother's making
- 32:37Speaker 1: magic happen. Behind the scenes, so it really was Cinderella.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I think that they've gone away from that, and I
- 32:45Speaker 1: don't think it's quite the fantasy that it once was.
- 32:49Speaker 1: I think it is now much more just a really
- 32:54Speaker 1: high end kind of uh you know love. Yeah, I
- 33:00Speaker 1: don't disagree with that. I mean, I think I think
- 33:02Speaker 1: you're absolutely right. The fantasy was the goal, right, that
- 33:06Speaker 1: was the end game when we were on the show.
- 33:07Speaker 1: And now it's like, you know, you've got people coming
- 33:10Speaker 1: in as characters ahead of time. They're riding in on
- 33:12Speaker 1: horses or up states really important and this is huge,
- 33:20Speaker 1: and this and this and this, to me is the
- 33:21Speaker 1: greatest difference social media. When you guys did the show,
- 33:25Speaker 1: no one came on the show thinking they were going
- 33:27Speaker 1: to become an influencer, thinking that they were going to
- 33:30Speaker 1: get followers, or it could turn their appearance into a
- 33:34Speaker 1: lifestyle or even a job. Right, Like, these were things
- 33:39Speaker 1: that were You did the show, and you then went
- 33:42Speaker 1: back to your normal life. That's not happening anymore. So
- 33:45Speaker 1: I think that you just starting there, you already have
- 33:50Speaker 1: a level of artifice because you can go on the
- 33:52Speaker 1: show now thinking okay, well if I come in second place,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I could potentially be the person who stars in the
- 33:57Speaker 1: next show, and if by making ass myself or on
- 34:01Speaker 1: a star but don't make it very far, I can
- 34:03Speaker 1: go on Bachelor in Paradise and if I don't do
- 34:06Speaker 1: any of that, some show on we TV, you'll have
- 34:09Speaker 1: me for something. All deference to your parents on we Trista,
- 34:14Speaker 1: they were very nice. I love everybody, but but but
- 34:16Speaker 1: but you know what I'm saying. It's just like there's
- 34:18Speaker 1: an ecosystem that now exists for all of these people
- 34:21Speaker 1: who appear on these shows that never happened before. That's
- 34:25Speaker 1: so true. People living out of it now, like they
- 34:27Speaker 1: go on and it's like, you know, four or five,
- 34:30Speaker 1: six times around, it's like, okay, you know, BLUs, there
- 34:33Speaker 1: was a lot. There was a lot of unpredictability too.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I should I shouldn't say that. Should I have to
- 34:38Speaker 1: say there's a lot more like predictability. I should say
- 34:41Speaker 1: to what we did it? And then all of a sudden,
- 34:43Speaker 1: it's like now people randomly show up when they've been
- 34:45Speaker 1: kicked off three weeks later, and then you show up
- 34:47Speaker 1: on a date and it's like, whatever manufactures the drama?
- 34:50Speaker 1: You know I started that? Actually one did? Yeah, Plece
- 34:55Speaker 1: Pwicce came to me after the Rose, after the um,
- 34:59Speaker 1: after hometown I think it was just before exotic. So
- 35:05Speaker 1: what is that there's four hometown dates? Back then you
- 35:07Speaker 1: have four hometowns and then you went to exotics, right,
- 35:09Speaker 1: So the most like our first female villain, Trish, she
- 35:14Speaker 1: was wonderful lady, so touched with her to this day.
- 35:17Speaker 1: But yeah, she got kicked out on after hometown dates
- 35:24Speaker 1: and Mike was just like, she's the best thing about
- 35:26Speaker 1: this show. You gotta figure out a way to get
- 35:28Speaker 1: her on on exotics. And I was like, huh, you
- 35:33Speaker 1: wanted to show up on an exotic and he was like,
- 35:36Speaker 1: figure it out. So uh. At that point in time,
- 35:42Speaker 1: I really wasn't doing those exit interviews anymore. But I
- 35:45Speaker 1: got into the back of the limo and an hour
- 35:48Speaker 1: later she was convinced that she needed to go to
- 35:51Speaker 1: Washington and speak her mind. I think that's really a
- 36:00Speaker 1: common thing. You need to speak your mind because in
- 36:02Speaker 1: this show, and it happened to me on The Bachelor,
- 36:05Speaker 1: which I don't know that we've talked about on this
- 36:07Speaker 1: podcast yet, but and I don't know if you were
- 36:09Speaker 1: involved in the conversation. It was Mike and Lisa, to
- 36:12Speaker 1: my knowledge, I'm sure you were involved somehow, Carbone. But um,
- 36:16Speaker 1: when when Alex said goodbye to me the next day,
- 36:21Speaker 1: I was like yeah, I was like, dude, the hell
- 36:27Speaker 1: brought Alex to you? No, he didn't come to me,
- 36:30Speaker 1: we just got on the phone. No, there was there
- 36:33Speaker 1: was a point there. There was a point in time
- 36:35Speaker 1: where like, well, maybe there's so many things that are
- 36:40Speaker 1: amalgamations at this point in right seasons. It's like, I'm sure.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But so I was like, you know, you finished, and
- 36:50Speaker 1: the guy is like, the guy's like okay, you're not
- 36:54Speaker 1: the one. You're like, oh, okay, goodbye, and you have
- 36:58Speaker 1: nothing else to say, Like it was, it was really
- 37:01Speaker 1: really awkward. And so I reached out and I said
- 37:04Speaker 1: I need to talk to him. I'm sorry, but I
- 37:06Speaker 1: need to talk to him. And they godd Lisa and
- 37:10Speaker 1: Mike were like, okay, you can talk to him, but
- 37:13Speaker 1: nothing is going to happen, because you guys are not
- 37:15Speaker 1: meant to be like in their minds, you know. Um,
- 37:19Speaker 1: so we're not going to let you guys meet. We're
- 37:21Speaker 1: just going to have a conversation that is recorded in
- 37:24Speaker 1: case anything does happen. And and they like, wouldn't let me,
- 37:29Speaker 1: because thank god they didn't, because if they hadn't, maybe
- 37:33Speaker 1: things would be different. Yeah, I know it's true. So
- 37:37Speaker 1: I think that, Um, it is really interesting at the end.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Um and I do think that there is a way
- 37:43Speaker 1: to bring I don't know, maybe that's a change that
- 37:46Speaker 1: they can make in the future, but some kind of closure.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I don't know. There's too many people for closure, so
- 37:50Speaker 1: I guess you can. I don't think anyone's ever gonna
- 37:54Speaker 1: too many people to get closure. But you know what
- 37:56Speaker 1: I quickly realized after that first season and see so
- 38:00Speaker 1: many people walk away with regret. Um was my speech,
- 38:05Speaker 1: and the limos from that point forward involved the three
- 38:08Speaker 1: words that I think are the key to success on
- 38:11Speaker 1: The Bachelor. Could have, should have? Would? Yeah, what was
- 38:17Speaker 1: you done differently now that you're in the limo? Right? Yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 1: Like I get in the limo and I would say, guys,
- 38:22Speaker 1: don't walk away from this show with these three words
- 38:24Speaker 1: ringing in your head. Could would, Yeah, you guys came here,
- 38:29Speaker 1: you packed a lot of dresses into a lot of suitcases,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you got all balled up, give it your best shot.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Don't go in there and suddenly you get overwhelmed by
- 38:38Speaker 1: the cameras because if you do odds are you ain't
- 38:41Speaker 1: making out of making it out of tonight? Yeah, yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 1: you're right. I mean you really have to have that
- 38:46Speaker 1: mentality when you're on the show because if you don't
- 38:49Speaker 1: go for it, then you're never going to let your
- 38:51Speaker 1: walls down, You're never going to fall in love. Because
- 38:55Speaker 1: it's such a short period time, especially it was for
- 38:57Speaker 1: us because we were only six weeks and yeah, we were,
- 39:01Speaker 1: we were that was quick. That was just relentless. Oh
- 39:05Speaker 1: my gosh. I was talking about in particular, I was
- 39:08Speaker 1: talking about the one night with someone not too long
- 39:10Speaker 1: ago actually, where we went on a date to Vegas.
- 39:15Speaker 1: On the way back from Vegas, we land and they're like, okay, Bob,
- 39:18Speaker 1: we've we've got to do your I T M S.
- 39:20Speaker 1: You know, we gotta get you through this. We get
- 39:22Speaker 1: through it. It's like four thirty in the morning and
- 39:24Speaker 1: Carbones like, all right, jump in the shower, we're picking
- 39:27Speaker 1: you up at five. You go on a hot air
- 39:29Speaker 1: balloon date. But we gotta catch we gotta catch as
- 39:31Speaker 1: the sun's coming up, baby, so let's go. Let's And
- 39:33Speaker 1: I'm like okay, And so you know, I get in
- 39:36Speaker 1: there and and it was just like this, but you
- 39:39Speaker 1: were there too, so it's like, you know, I really
- 39:41Speaker 1: couldn't sit there and bitch and complain about being exhausted,
- 39:44Speaker 1: because it's like they picked me up and it's me
- 39:47Speaker 1: carbone again. You know, here we go. I felt I
- 39:49Speaker 1: was dating Jason. Well, that was my role to a
- 39:51Speaker 1: certain degree, was like I was both of yours kind
- 39:56Speaker 1: of like shepherd for lack of a better term, where
- 39:59Speaker 1: I was here to make sure that we were up
- 40:01Speaker 1: in the morning and that you had something in you
- 40:03Speaker 1: so we could start the day. If you needed something
- 40:05Speaker 1: on the way to wherever we were going, Let's take
- 40:07Speaker 1: care of that. Uh. You know, both of you at
- 40:10Speaker 1: times would whisper in my wear, make sure I'm not
- 40:13Speaker 1: having to spend it an inordinate amount of time. What's
- 40:15Speaker 1: so and so? And you know we were unless I
- 40:19Speaker 1: look back at you and I said, I'm sorry, it's
- 40:21Speaker 1: too good a TV show, Bob. You need to talk
- 40:23Speaker 1: to her. You know, it's funny. I was. It's just
- 40:26Speaker 1: I was talking earlier and I just kind of I didn't.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I didn't say anything, but I was remembering one time
- 40:31Speaker 1: when you swooped in and saved me. Actually, and we
- 40:34Speaker 1: won't name any names, but I remember saying literally, I'm like,
- 40:37Speaker 1: you know what, I'm excuse myself and go to the bathroom.
- 40:40Speaker 1: And I go into the bathroom and knowing that, I
- 40:42Speaker 1: Mike that I don't unpack my because I didn't have
- 40:44Speaker 1: to go to the bathroom and I'm washing my hands,
- 40:46Speaker 1: I like, guys, I need to get the hell out
- 40:47Speaker 1: of here, and we need to go. We just need
- 40:49Speaker 1: to go. I uh And and I came walking back
- 40:53Speaker 1: out and I got one of these. I'm like, okay,
- 40:56Speaker 1: so I sit back down, I have, you know, cheers. Guys,
- 40:59Speaker 1: what a lovely pleasure me you all, It's really time
- 41:01Speaker 1: we should probably go. But it was like I was,
- 41:05Speaker 1: I literally was in the bathroom going, guys, I can't
- 41:06Speaker 1: I can't do it. Oss. I remember that? Remember that? Well, Jason?
- 41:13Speaker 1: One last question. Do you remember when um Ryan couldn't
- 41:16Speaker 1: be found on the final were you the one searching
- 41:20Speaker 1: for him? So let's talk a little Let's unpack this
- 41:23Speaker 1: a little bit because there is so much here. Okay,
- 41:28Speaker 1: So you're talking about the Bachelor and the Bachelorette parties
- 41:32Speaker 1: that took place on St. Martin in the correct no,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the very
- 41:37Speaker 1: last well that also was that we didn't know where
- 41:40Speaker 1: Ryan was. Sorry, I kind of I led you down
- 41:43Speaker 1: another road, but when he couldn't be found for the
- 41:46Speaker 1: final Rows ceremony, I think what happened is St. Martin
- 41:53Speaker 1: so overshadowed that because of so many other confluence of
- 41:58Speaker 1: events that were hurrying on that island, Like like, there
- 42:03Speaker 1: was so much going on there, and your parents were there,
- 42:06Speaker 1: and there was a level of everyone everyone was there
- 42:11Speaker 1: and and if you remember correctly, I got viral vertigo
- 42:15Speaker 1: while I was there stand and literally like they at
- 42:22Speaker 1: one point they were like, we don't know what's wrong
- 42:24Speaker 1: with him. We might need to meta back him out
- 42:26Speaker 1: of here. Totally remember that I forgot like and as
- 42:32Speaker 1: this is all going on, I like, I am going
- 42:34Speaker 1: from post to post, holding onto things, trying to direct
- 42:40Speaker 1: and now trying to find Ryan. And then after that day,
- 42:44Speaker 1: literally I was confined, confined to a bed until they
- 42:48Speaker 1: flew me out, And it took me a week after
- 42:50Speaker 1: I got home for me to have some I can't
- 42:55Speaker 1: even imagine the worst experience. It was one of those
- 42:59Speaker 1: experience is where I remember, specifically on the car ride
- 43:03Speaker 1: home from the airport, every like quarter of a mile,
- 43:06Speaker 1: I said to the driver, you gotta pull over a well.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I mean one of those lovely gifts that the bachelor
- 43:15Speaker 1: gave to you was like the host and it was
- 43:20Speaker 1: it was insanity, that's right. And then in St. Martin
- 43:27Speaker 1: was was like the best of times and the worst
- 43:30Speaker 1: of Yes, yeah, true story. I do remember the casino
- 43:33Speaker 1: there too. I remember going to the casino there and
- 43:35Speaker 1: gambling and having a great time. And you guys must
- 43:39Speaker 1: have done that on your thing, because we went to
- 43:41Speaker 1: this bar and we had dinner, and then the girls
- 43:44Speaker 1: gave me like a Dare list or whatever that I
- 43:49Speaker 1: had to check off the boxes and like take a
- 43:52Speaker 1: picture with the We also had a very early kind
- 43:56Speaker 1: of harbinger of things to come on the internet with
- 43:58Speaker 1: shopbop be down there, and if you remember Trista, you
- 44:03Speaker 1: and all of your bridesmaids got to like have your
- 44:07Speaker 1: run of Shop Pop. They basically set up a little
- 44:09Speaker 1: boutique there and you and your friends went crazy at
- 44:13Speaker 1: Shop Bop before Shop Bop was appointed by Amazons. I
- 44:17Speaker 1: didn't know that. Yeah, I remember we got those jelly
- 44:20Speaker 1: purses Amazon. You put them on the map. You're welcome. Yeah, no,
- 44:31Speaker 1: it's uh, you know, it's there's been books written about
- 44:37Speaker 1: the show, but the reality is is that there's no
- 44:40Speaker 1: there's nothing yet that really kind of represents what it
- 44:45Speaker 1: is we all shared and what it is we you know,
- 44:49Speaker 1: like in all candor, you were both trailblazers, right you, Tristan,
- 44:53Speaker 1: particularly you, you were, uh, you were doing things that
- 45:01Speaker 1: it took a lot of courage to do, and so
- 45:04Speaker 1: I commend you for that. I certainly wouldn't want my
- 45:08Speaker 1: daughter doing those things at the age you were when
- 45:10Speaker 1: you were on our show. So I think my parents
- 45:13Speaker 1: probably that uh, you know, it speaks I'll think a
- 45:17Speaker 1: lot to the way you were raised. Yeah, yeah, I
- 45:20Speaker 1: think about it. She went on the first show, then
- 45:22Speaker 1: she's the first female lead, then they televised her wedding.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I mean, there are a lot of things going on there.
- 45:29Speaker 1: There was a lot of pressure on you to deliver
- 45:31Speaker 1: one of my favorite moments, and Tristan, I'm going to
- 45:35Speaker 1: tell a story about you at the wedding. Okay. So
- 45:39Speaker 1: we're at the wedding and things were going a little
- 45:43Speaker 1: slow with Tristan. Okay, she was I've been a hard
- 45:46Speaker 1: time getting out the door. So I was sent in
- 45:50Speaker 1: to see what the situation was and what was going on.
- 45:54Speaker 1: And you know, there was a million different trade outs
- 45:58Speaker 1: for that, right there was tradeouts for everything short of
- 46:03Speaker 1: socks because bombas hadn't been invented yet. And um, so
- 46:09Speaker 1: I go in and they wanted Trista to wear this
- 46:14Speaker 1: earring and necklace set that was just like monstrously large
- 46:20Speaker 1: and a very gaudy. And I go in and Trista
- 46:24Speaker 1: is I'm saying, I don't want to wear this on
- 46:26Speaker 1: my wedding day. And I have I'm talking to Trista.
- 46:30Speaker 1: And while I'm talking to Trista, I have people in
- 46:32Speaker 1: my ear saying, Carbone, what's going on? She trip me
- 46:35Speaker 1: walking down the hallway. They're ready to start. Where is she?
- 46:42Speaker 1: And I literally saw. I looked at Trista and I go, Trista,
- 46:45Speaker 1: give me one second. And I turned around and I'm
- 46:47Speaker 1: just like, um, I'm having a moment with Trista and
- 46:52Speaker 1: I need five minutes and you all need to relax.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And so I turned back to Trista and I said, Trista,
- 47:00Speaker 1: it's your wedding day. You're not going to have to
- 47:01Speaker 1: wear anything you don't want to wear. Yeah, And Trista
- 47:04Speaker 1: looked at me and she was just like, you understand me,
- 47:07Speaker 1: thank you, And I was just like wa. Then she
- 47:11Speaker 1: wore she didn't wear the ear rings, or she didn't
- 47:14Speaker 1: wear the neck, she didn't wear one of the one
- 47:16Speaker 1: of the pieces. And I was just like, we're good.
- 47:18Speaker 1: We didn't get it all, but we got half of it, guys,
- 47:21Speaker 1: and that's going to have to be good enough. And
- 47:23Speaker 1: in three yes, like that's what you want, Like as
- 47:31Speaker 1: is in life or as the lead on the Bachelor
- 47:34Speaker 1: of the bachelorrete you just sometimes want to be heard
- 47:38Speaker 1: and seen, and especially when it's your freaking wedding day.
- 47:43Speaker 1: It was just like you had all these people scared
- 47:45Speaker 1: to upset Trista and scared to upset all the sponsors. Yeah.
- 47:50Speaker 1: I was just like, you know, the only person we
- 47:52Speaker 1: don't want to upset on her wedding day is Tristatas.
- 47:57Speaker 1: We're good. We've got all the weird you We're good, Like,
- 48:02Speaker 1: let's not worry about this, this is a big day.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Let's see all those picked chairs. Yeah, we love you, Carbone,
- 48:10Speaker 1: thank you so much, Funny, thanks for joining us on
- 48:13Speaker 1: the show. And you guys, we could do to him.
- 48:18Speaker 1: We were like, well, still a whole hour or more,
- 48:20Speaker 1: not a problem. Yeah, continued success and tell everyone we
- 48:25Speaker 1: said hello, alright Jason carbone Man that m Yes. I
- 48:43Speaker 1: have called him so many times over the years. You know,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I want to do this with you. I want to
- 48:49Speaker 1: do that with you. What should I do in this situation?
- 48:51Speaker 1: You know, just for advice or just to chat. I
- 48:55Speaker 1: mean he's just solid, you know, not just not just
- 49:01Speaker 1: a great producer, right, or someone who knows their way
- 49:04Speaker 1: around the industry, but someone who's willing to let their
- 49:07Speaker 1: go down a little bit and be real and be
- 49:08Speaker 1: honest and be your friend. Even during both of our
- 49:11Speaker 1: experiences on that show. When you know, if you think
- 49:13Speaker 1: about it, that's the one thing you don't really have
- 49:15Speaker 1: right as the lead when you're there. You don't have
- 49:17Speaker 1: any of your friends or family there. Well you let them.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I did have friends, No, that was that was one
- 49:24Speaker 1: of the only seasons that I was allowed. So I
- 49:27Speaker 1: had my best friend from Shannon Oliver who was on
- 49:32Speaker 1: The Bachelor with her, and then Missy Babone who was
- 49:37Speaker 1: my best friend from grad school, and I got to
- 49:40Speaker 1: have all of them there. They lived in the house
- 49:42Speaker 1: with you guys. They got to vote on who I
- 49:45Speaker 1: was taking on dates, like I would evaluate us, they
- 49:48Speaker 1: would evaluate us from conversations and stuff. I remember that totally.
- 49:53Speaker 1: So I had a very unique situation and that they
- 49:57Speaker 1: let me have my friends that that was something that
- 49:59Speaker 1: I I requested, like can I have some friends come
- 50:02Speaker 1: and help me. They're a huge part of my life
- 50:05Speaker 1: and I feel, like I have said over the years,
- 50:07Speaker 1: they need to bring that, bring that back. But but
- 50:09Speaker 1: when we don't have my season for one episode, like
- 50:12Speaker 1: not even an episode like one to day. I don't
- 50:15Speaker 1: even think it's two days. I think it was one day,
- 50:17Speaker 1: and it was because it works so well on your season,
- 50:21Speaker 1: they carried it over to my season. I remember doing it. Yeah,
- 50:24Speaker 1: but it was only one day. Yeah, I mean even
- 50:28Speaker 1: though I did have friends there for for most of it.
- 50:31Speaker 1: The producers you're with them all the time, and you
- 50:34Speaker 1: just you you have to vibe like even the producers
- 50:38Speaker 1: to this day. You have to have a producer who
- 50:41Speaker 1: can get along with all different personalities, who can make
- 50:46Speaker 1: people feel seen and feel heard, because that's where the
- 50:49Speaker 1: good stuff comes from, that's where the reality comes from.
- 50:53Speaker 1: For reality television, you got to trust for people you're
- 50:55Speaker 1: talking to I agree with you. I agree. Well, yeah,
- 51:00Speaker 1: another wonderful episode of the almost famous O G S
- 51:03Speaker 1: and we had that was a true O G right there.
- 51:06Speaker 1: That was a trio G from a production perspective. Having
- 51:09Speaker 1: Carbone on, I mean, man alive. I love that guy.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I just love he's doing great. Oh my god, so good.
- 51:16Speaker 1: I know, I know, so good. Okay, Well, thanks for
- 51:20Speaker 1: sending in questions everybody. We were going to try to
- 51:23Speaker 1: get to them today, but we don't have a lot
- 51:27Speaker 1: of time, so we're just going to roll that over
- 51:29Speaker 1: into next episode. I don't know who we'll have, but
- 51:32Speaker 1: I am going to pitch that we have our our
- 51:34Speaker 1: spouses on soon. I can say I'm gonna write I'm
- 51:40Speaker 1: gonna write us, and I'm gonna say, please come and
- 51:42Speaker 1: chat with me. She'll do it for you, she will
- 51:45Speaker 1: not do it for me. I'm gonna shure you. And
- 51:47Speaker 1: you probably didn't notice, but you know, during a few
- 51:49Speaker 1: of the stories, I was like muting my line because
- 51:51Speaker 1: my son was literally trying to break in here. I'm like,
- 51:54Speaker 1: oh mg, here we go again on the door. He's like, Dad,
- 52:00Speaker 1: why aren't you opening that door? I was like, okay,
- 52:04Speaker 1: and I'm like, and I would literally mute it. I'd
- 52:06Speaker 1: be like, big, let's go hello, help anybody. So yeah,
- 52:11Speaker 1: oh my gosh. But you know what, the next next
- 52:14Speaker 1: week is Father's Day, right, and that's a big day
- 52:18Speaker 1: and a big day for me, a big day for
- 52:21Speaker 1: for Ryan, big day for all the dads out there.
- 52:23Speaker 1: I don't know how many dads listen to our show.
- 52:25Speaker 1: I hope, I hope a bunch. But Carbones a father.
- 52:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I'll tell you man. I waited,
- 52:31Speaker 1: of course, until later in life to have kids, and
- 52:34Speaker 1: it is such a special experience for me too. I'm
- 52:37Speaker 1: so thankful that it worked out the way that it
- 52:38Speaker 1: worked out for me to be at this age where
- 52:40Speaker 1: I think I think I would have always wanted to
- 52:43Speaker 1: be a super invested in dad dad, but like to
- 52:45Speaker 1: go through COVID and be able to be at my
- 52:47Speaker 1: house for basically a year and a half with my
- 52:50Speaker 1: son and my dad. Um, I'm gonna get myself emotional here,
- 52:54Speaker 1: but it's like one of those things where it's like
- 52:55Speaker 1: you go through those experiences in life, timing just has
- 52:58Speaker 1: a way of working out right, and it's like, you're
- 53:00Speaker 1: so thankful to h to be a dad right now.
- 53:03Speaker 1: So I'm excited for Father's Day. Yeah you should be.
- 53:06Speaker 1: We get to celebrate you and all the great dads
- 53:08Speaker 1: out there, including some from Bachelor Nation. And we won't
- 53:11Speaker 1: tell you who's visiting. You'll just have to tune into
- 53:14Speaker 1: a fo G next week for our Father's Day episode
- 53:19Speaker 1: by Trista. All right, thanks Bob, bye everybody, Bye everybody.
- 53:23Speaker 1: Thank you,
