- 0:20Speaker 1: Comes to Town from Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Miracles of Christmas. Lina.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Time out.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Is it missus Christmas or Miss Chris?
- 0:30Speaker 1: I thought she's Missus Christmas and then there's miss Holiday.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Wait hold up, I'm prepared to stand corrected, Miss Christmas
- 0:37Speaker 1: comes to Town. I do stand corrected. Today we're discussing
- 0:40Speaker 1: Miss Christmas Comes to Town from Hallmarks Movies and Mysteries
- 0:42Speaker 1: Miracle of Christmas Lina. If you want to connect with
- 0:46Speaker 1: us outside of the podcast for more of this fun banter,
- 0:49Speaker 1: we'd love for you to follow us on Instagram. You
- 0:51Speaker 1: can mind us at Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan
- 0:54Speaker 1: and Wendy.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Chu up into our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group Busy Weekend.
- 1:00Speaker 2: There lots of discussion about this movie in particular and
- 1:04Speaker 2: as well as Saturday Nights movie.
- 1:08Speaker 3: I love it there, I love.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's a safe space. It's a safe space. That's all
- 1:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna say. I agree with you.
- 1:16Speaker 3: If they want to reach out to us, What should
- 1:18Speaker 3: they do?
- 1:18Speaker 2: Oh, they can email us at Megan and Wendy at
- 1:21Speaker 2: gmail dot com. And Megan's holding her phone. I think
- 1:22Speaker 2: we might have an email.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We do. I'm so excited. Thank you to Colleen for
- 1:26Speaker 1: your email, which says, hi, y'all. After years of NonStop
- 1:30Speaker 1: true crime A Girl after Wendy's Heart, I decided to
- 1:33Speaker 1: go to a lighter side of podcasting. I was searching
- 1:37Speaker 1: for Hallmark, which I love, and found you two Crazy Girls.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I'm only up to Valentine's twenty twenty one Nikes pause
- 1:44Speaker 1: for future editors note here, But I had to comment
- 1:46Speaker 1: on when Calls the Heart, I refuse to watch the
- 1:49Speaker 1: show and I get actively pissed off when I see
- 1:51Speaker 1: the commercials. Nobody in turn of the century Prairie Canada
- 1:54Speaker 1: looks like this. In fact, I refer to this show
- 1:56Speaker 1: as when calls Sephora, did they have contouring, lipliner, bra,
- 2:00Speaker 1: high deff, powder, et cetera. I don't think so, and
- 2:03Speaker 1: don't get me started on the perfect quoffs so much
- 2:06Speaker 1: body nineteen hundred's root Lift or anyone. In fact, I
- 2:10Speaker 1: challenge you to find a picture of said setting where
- 2:12Speaker 1: the person doesn't look like they just completely want to
- 2:15Speaker 1: give up, except for bordello ladies who might have red
- 2:19Speaker 1: lipstick and feathers in their hair. Props to them for trying. Anyway.
- 2:23Speaker 1: I love your podcast so much following on Instagram too.
- 2:26Speaker 3: I'm one of you.
- 2:27Speaker 1: You get me. Hey, I love that email. What's your
- 2:31Speaker 1: editor's note? She's up to Valentine's twenty twenty one. That's
- 2:34Speaker 1: nearly two years ago, and I just think we've gone.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So long since then.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I just can't wait till she catches up because I
- 2:39Speaker 1: feel like it just gets better with time. I would
- 2:43Speaker 1: may not a fine line.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I would not want to go back and listen to
- 2:46Speaker 2: those early episodes.
- 2:47Speaker 1: They have to be terrible. I don't think they're terrible,
- 2:50Speaker 1: but I do think we have come a long way
- 2:53Speaker 1: in our Hallmark knowledge. Okay.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Additionally, I think it's really funny that she's like, I
- 2:58Speaker 2: had to give up on my merch stuff and hit
- 3:01Speaker 2: Hallmark where Saturday Night Live just did that, Like they
- 3:04Speaker 2: did a really funny like skit over the weekend of
- 3:07Speaker 2: this and this did come in before that skit.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I get it. I like a murdery
- 3:12Speaker 1: stuff too, So welcome fun. Hallmark News and Notes just
- 3:17Speaker 1: a tiny bit of rating for Where Are You Christmas?
- 3:20Speaker 1: Last week, they had one point seven seven million live viewers.
- 3:23Speaker 1: That's a lot, a lot. That was Hallmark's Saturday night
- 3:26Speaker 1: movie for their opening weekend. This weekend, we don't have
- 3:30Speaker 1: a lot of numbers, but we do have the initial
- 3:32Speaker 1: numbers for mis Christmas Comes to Town, which was a
- 3:34Speaker 1: Thursday night release, one point one million live viewers. They
- 3:40Speaker 1: only had four percent of the demo, so that put
- 3:42Speaker 1: them in at like one oh six. They had more
- 3:46Speaker 1: viewers on a lot of shows above them, but they
- 3:48Speaker 1: did not have a bigger share of the key demo,
- 3:51Speaker 1: which is at eighteen to forty nine.
- 3:53Speaker 3: So that's where we are.
- 3:55Speaker 1: This is gonna happen when you have a Thursday night
- 3:56Speaker 1: movie and people are going to be catching the replay.
- 3:59Speaker 1: They're going to be catching it on Peacock, They're catching
- 4:01Speaker 1: it on Friendly, They're going to be firing up their
- 4:04Speaker 1: DVRs over the weekend.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Hey, I appreciate a Thursday night movie. It makes my
- 4:07Speaker 2: job here as a movie reviewer absolutely a.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Little easier movie. Yeah, it's a little easier. I have
- 4:14Speaker 1: a Hallmark News a note. Hopefully listeners listen to our
- 4:19Speaker 1: review of A Kind of Magic, which was our final
- 4:23Speaker 1: fall favorite movie that dropped yesterday, a review in which
- 4:27Speaker 1: I said, this is a bad movie, but when I
- 4:29Speaker 1: think you should watch, you loved it. I really liked it.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That movie stars Nicky DeLoach and randomly, I'm listening to
- 4:37Speaker 2: the new Britney Spears memoir the woman in me, oh really,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and she brings up Nikki DeLoach of all people. I
- 4:46Speaker 2: was like, I didn't expect Nicki DeLoach to be in
- 4:48Speaker 2: my Britney Spears.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Memoir World Colliding totally.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Apparently I did not know this. Nicki was on the
- 4:54Speaker 2: Mickey Mouse Club at the same time Britney was, and
- 4:58Speaker 2: at that time it was like Brittany, Nikki DeLoach, Christina Aguilera,
- 5:02Speaker 2: justin Timberlake, Carrie Russell wild Oh and Ryan Gosling too.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Such a weird mix of talented people of nineties stars.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Anyhow, she went on to talk about Nikki moving on
- 5:20Speaker 2: to an all girl group called Innocence, which is a
- 5:23Speaker 2: real like late nineties girl group named Don't You Think So,
- 5:28Speaker 2: And it was planned that Brittany was supposed to be
- 5:31Speaker 2: in that girl group too, but then her mom, Lynn
- 5:34Speaker 2: decided Brittany was better fit for a solo career. But
- 5:40Speaker 2: I did look up the band Innocence on YouTube. There
- 5:44Speaker 2: are some videos with Nicky DeLoach as like the lead singer,
- 5:50Speaker 2: Like it's like a very like in a v formation
- 5:53Speaker 2: and she's at the point doing her dance with her
- 5:58Speaker 2: low rise jeans and her oh same kind of hairdoo,
- 6:03Speaker 2: like very you know, very nickey Deloch hairdo.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Really yeah, I just it's funny to hear that she sings,
- 6:12Speaker 1: because I don't know if we've ever seen her in
- 6:14Speaker 1: like a singing role on a Hallmark movie, have we?
- 6:17Speaker 1: I don't trust my memory, but nothing pops behind. Well,
- 6:20Speaker 1: let's hear a synopsis forms Christmas.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Sure, a shopping channel host known as Miss Christmas, receives
- 6:27Speaker 2: a terminal diagnosis which inspires a multi city excursion set
- 6:31Speaker 2: to spread Christmas cheer before her farewell broadcast, sorrying Erica Durance,
- 6:37Speaker 2: Brennan Elliott, and Barbara Nevin.
- 6:40Speaker 1: Speaking of Erica Durant, she plays Amanda slash Miss Holiday.
- 6:44Speaker 1: She has thirty nine acting credits, including Unexpected Grace this
- 6:48Speaker 1: Year and last year's We Need a Little Christmas. She's
- 6:50Speaker 1: been getting the tear jerker Hallmark Treatment lately. Yeah, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: have a note about that.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Brendan Elliott he plays Travis slash mister Winters, which I
- 6:59Speaker 2: think is a real cute name. He has eighty three
- 7:01Speaker 2: acting credits, including thirty episodes as host Graham on the
- 7:06Speaker 2: television show Unreal. He started alongside Barbara Nevian in the
- 7:10Speaker 2: Crossword Mystery series.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Barbara Nevian, who plays Gail, Gail Storm a Lot going
- 7:18Speaker 1: on and Miss Christmas. She has one hundred eleven acting credits.
- 7:22Speaker 1: She started alongside Erica Durantz in twenty twenty twos North
- 7:25Speaker 1: to Home. She's been all over Hallmark. She was in
- 7:28Speaker 1: the Evergreen series, the Crossword Mystery series, the Hannah Swinson
- 7:32Speaker 1: Murder She Bakes series, and of course Chesapeake Shores. Do
- 7:35Speaker 1: you know how old she is? I looked it up. Well.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I will just say that her skin looks fan freakantastic,
- 7:42Speaker 1: So I'd like to know who her dermatologist is. Do
- 7:44Speaker 1: you want to know how old she is? Yes, seventy.
- 7:48Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I hope to have skin like her when I'm seventy, don't.
- 7:52Speaker 1: I don't think it's going that way with skin like
- 7:53Speaker 1: her at three.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Mark Brandon plays James, and he has one hundred and
- 7:59Speaker 2: fifty the acting credits and too many Hallmark movies to
- 8:02Speaker 2: count because Mark Brandon is busy. He was in the
- 8:06Speaker 2: most recent seasons of Wynn Calls the Heart and Firefly Lane,
- 8:09Speaker 2: which I feel is Hallmark adjacent lot of crossover. He
- 8:13Speaker 2: was also in last year's Inventing the Christmas Prints and
- 8:16Speaker 2: Fit for Christmas with Amanda Klutes.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Fun fact. He was also in one episode of Unreal
- 8:21Speaker 1: with co star Brendan Elliott. Yeah, this cast Chris crosses
- 8:25Speaker 1: each other quite a bit. Chris Gautier plays Murray in
- 8:28Speaker 1: a Hurry and he's well known to us as Todd
- 8:31Speaker 1: from Date My Dad with his one hundred four acting credits.
- 8:34Speaker 1: He's well known in the Hallmark universe too, from appearances
- 8:37Speaker 1: in Retreat to You, Three Wise Men, and a Baby,
- 8:39Speaker 1: Christmas House Christmas House two. I was so happy to
- 8:43Speaker 1: see him on screen. Were you he opened up that
- 8:46Speaker 1: door to that.
- 8:47Speaker 3: What wasn't a bus?
- 8:48Speaker 1: That rve?
- 8:49Speaker 3: I just he just makes me happy. I like seeing
- 8:51Speaker 3: him in things.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He made a funny like dad joke Murray Christmas something?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Do you remember that? Vaguely? I thought it was funny.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Judith Maxie plays Elizabeth.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Uh talk about chic. I thought she was like she
- 9:03Speaker 2: epited me of chic. She has one hundred and one
- 9:05Speaker 2: acting credits. She was also in Game of Love with
- 9:08Speaker 2: the director of this movie, Jason Baroque Bork. Are you
- 9:16Speaker 2: sure it's Bork and not Baroque?
- 9:17Speaker 3: Well, there's nothing in between.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You're right, you're right, you're right. It could be boor K,
- 9:22Speaker 1: but it's not Baroke.
- 9:23Speaker 3: Okay, my bad.
- 9:24Speaker 1: This movie was written by Brooke Durham. Her fifteen writing
- 9:27Speaker 1: and credits include The Royal Nanny and Hidden Gems. It's
- 9:30Speaker 1: Time for Your Redemption.
- 9:33Speaker 2: People hate me, I swear director Jason's forty five seconds ago.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I'm telling you I have short term memory loss. Bork
- 9:42Speaker 1: had ten second time. What ten seconds? I'll tell you.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Oh that sounds dirty. It's not okay. Jason Bork fifty
- 9:50Speaker 1: five directing credits.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He is directing This Year's a World Record Christmas and
- 9:56Speaker 2: in pre Protection has Whitewater Romance, written by Juliana Wimbles,
- 10:00Speaker 2: who is a Hallmark actress turned writer.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I think this might be a twenty twenty four homework title.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I'm certain, like we don't. It's not coming out between
- 10:09Speaker 1: now and Christmas. Whitewater Romance. It's not a national park
- 10:13Speaker 1: I doubt. Oh no, this was filmed in Vancouver in
- 10:17Speaker 1: late May and early June, likely to get ahead of
- 10:20Speaker 1: the strike. They did try and push a lot of
- 10:22Speaker 1: those titles through before they know if they'd be able
- 10:25Speaker 1: to get waivers. Ten Second Tom for those who are
- 10:28Speaker 1: still holding off for that reference, that is a reference
- 10:30Speaker 1: to the Adam Sandler Drew Barrymore movie fifty First Date.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Seen it? Oh? Okay, Yes, there's a when she goes
- 10:40Speaker 1: into like a memory care facility. There's a man there
- 10:43Speaker 1: who's short term memory resets every ten seconds.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so they call him ten second Tom. That's gonna
- 10:48Speaker 3: be me.
- 10:48Speaker 1: That is me often me every day. No, we speaking
- 10:52Speaker 1: of ten seconds Tom. I didn't write a first impression
- 10:54Speaker 1: of this.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Oh no, would you like me to share mine? What
- 10:59Speaker 2: is going on with Brendan Elliott's hair? Oh, we'll talk more.
- 11:04Speaker 1: My first impression of this movie is she doesn't have one?
- 11:08Speaker 1: I got one? This is your dream job. I feel like, Oh,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I remember.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You telling me a long time ago that your dream
- 11:16Speaker 2: job would have to be a HSM Like I'd be
- 11:20Speaker 2: great personality, great at it.
- 11:23Speaker 1: We would be a great Asha send team.
- 11:25Speaker 2: You're like Miss Christmas, move over, Megan and Wady stepping in.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Well. I want to say that when they dubbed Amanda
- 11:33Speaker 1: miss Holiday and I was like, they should have called
- 11:34Speaker 1: her mis Mistletoe. It's a cuter name than Miss Holiday.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I agree, mister Winters, Mister Winter's a very cute name.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Yeah, miss Missletoe is miss let's talk what we liked.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Barbara Nevan a real standout to me. I love that
- 11:51Speaker 2: Hallwark continues to hire her for these roles. But with
- 11:55Speaker 2: that said, I feel like she's part of a very
- 11:58Speaker 2: small club. Yes, right, she plays a woman of a
- 12:03Speaker 2: certain age in most of these Hallmark movies in series. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but casts a wider net. There are plenty of fabulous
- 12:15Speaker 2: older women who can play this role.
- 12:19Speaker 1: That's a great point. We love Barbara Nivin. I'm glad
- 12:21Speaker 1: she's working. But when you look at the number of
- 12:22Speaker 1: recurring roles she has, it does seem very clear Hallmark's like, oh,
- 12:26Speaker 1: we need a woman of grandmotherly age. I call it Babs.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Call it Babs, call it Babs, call up Babs, Barbara.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I get it. Okay.
- 12:39Speaker 2: However, I do find her amazing. I find her funny
- 12:43Speaker 2: and charmings love her.
- 12:46Speaker 3: No one can wear a.
- 12:47Speaker 1: White cape like Barbara knivin Beautiful. I mean her skin fabulous.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And I love that she uses the word and hone
- 12:55Speaker 1: it a lot. She says the word honey maybe three
- 12:58Speaker 1: times in this movie. Well, let's talk casting. I think
- 13:03Speaker 1: the casting was spot on for this movie, and I'm
- 13:06Speaker 1: sure there are other actors who could have done these roles. Justice.
- 13:10Speaker 1: To me, it felt like the perfect trio for this
- 13:12Speaker 1: heavy storyline. Wendy disagrees, she's over here, giving me big
- 13:16Speaker 1: old thumbs down. Well, we're gonna talk about it, and
- 13:18Speaker 1: wished for ward. Okay.
- 13:20Speaker 2: I enjoy the cast, and you're right, I did think
- 13:23Speaker 2: they are three outstanding actors. I just wish for different things.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I did enjoy the scene where I'm calling them by
- 13:33Speaker 2: their real names. Erica meets Brennan, like can't remember their
- 13:37Speaker 2: names right now, Amanda and Travis when they meet at
- 13:40Speaker 2: the coffee shop and she mistakes him for her blind date,
- 13:45Speaker 2: and I like that she like kind of went all
- 13:48Speaker 2: in and was like thought he was having same, sat down,
- 13:51Speaker 2: just unloaded, yes, never gave him a chance to like
- 13:55Speaker 2: respond really.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Yes, I didn't really like that. She was like kind
- 13:59Speaker 1: of him for that. Yes, he couldn't speak, He didn't
- 14:03Speaker 1: lead you to believe anything. You didn't let him get
- 14:05Speaker 1: a word in edge.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Well, you never gave him the opportunity, So that's on you, babe.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I did like that scene though. I thought it was cute,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and I liked that he was charmed by her. Yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 1: as opposed to being like, well you're a lot. Well,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 14:18Speaker 2: I mean as a woman who's never really been like
- 14:21Speaker 2: picked up on at a coffee shop, I think I
- 14:25Speaker 2: would be flattered if I was a single woman and
- 14:27Speaker 2: some man came up to me and started talking to me.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I would Yes, I talked back, took it appropriately. Yes,
- 14:34Speaker 1: And I get why she was embarrassed. I would have
- 14:36Speaker 1: been embarrassed too. Yeah, but it's not his fault. No, No,
- 14:39Speaker 1: I agree. This felt like the most Christmas movie we've
- 14:42Speaker 1: seen so far.
- 14:43Speaker 3: And what is going on?
- 14:46Speaker 1: Too much Christmas? Let me put in and my wish
- 14:49Speaker 1: for well, we'll circle back to it. Well, look, she's
- 14:54Speaker 1: Miss Christmas on a television show about Christmas, doing a
- 14:57Speaker 1: tour about Christmas.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Too much Christmas?
- 15:00Speaker 1: Whereas this weekend's Missed at Christmas review coming soon. My
- 15:06Speaker 1: husband found boring and not Christmasy enough, and I didn't
- 15:09Speaker 1: speak to him. You've come mad at him for it.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Not seriously, but I was like, do not come to
- 15:15Speaker 1: me with your negative opinions of Mystic Christmas. Spoiler alert. Anyway,
- 15:20Speaker 1: the non hater over here was really living for the
- 15:22Speaker 1: Christmasy feels we were getting from this movie, because I
- 15:25Speaker 1: think we've seen a lot of movies so far that
- 15:27Speaker 1: have not been very Christmasy fair points of course, this
- 15:31Speaker 1: movie was on movies and misery, because when do you
- 15:33Speaker 1: get a story where your lead is dying of metastatic
- 15:37Speaker 1: brain cancer terminal diagnosy.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Now, with that said, there's been a lot of talk
- 15:43Speaker 2: in our Girls Gone Homework Facebook group about the scene
- 15:47Speaker 2: between Gail Miss Christmas and her oncologist and that it
- 15:52Speaker 2: wasn't realistic.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yes, I would like to weigh in. I would like
- 15:57Speaker 1: you to.
- 15:57Speaker 2: As a former cancer patient myself, I think it's a
- 16:01Speaker 2: possible conversation.
- 16:02Speaker 1: We don't know the context as the viewer. We don't
- 16:05Speaker 1: know what they had been working to leading up to
- 16:09Speaker 1: this appointment. We do on the timeline, and it had
- 16:11Speaker 1: been at least five years.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Yes, and she's like, I have the results of your
- 16:17Speaker 2: latest MRI. So like they had been like tracking things right.
- 16:22Speaker 1: And I liked that the oncologist was supportive of Gail's
- 16:30Speaker 1: like decision, Like, I mean, her decision was like to
- 16:34Speaker 1: go out and live life and enjoy like the last
- 16:36Speaker 1: maybe two years that she was going to have.
- 16:38Speaker 2: So I thought that was very realistic. I think some
- 16:42Speaker 2: of the feedback was that a doctor would never be like.
- 16:45Speaker 1: This is the end of the road. But I do
- 16:47Speaker 1: think that is a realistic conversation. It felt obviously I'm
- 16:52Speaker 1: not a former cancer patient, yeah, but it felt to
- 16:56Speaker 1: me like something you would say to a patient that
- 16:59Speaker 1: you formed a relation and ship with. Yeah, this without
- 17:03Speaker 1: being clinical. This is a hallmark movie, right, you need
- 17:06Speaker 1: to have the conversation that's going to work for the movie.
- 17:08Speaker 3: But this is the end of the road.
- 17:10Speaker 1: There isn't anything else we can do for you, right,
- 17:13Speaker 1: we can make you comfortable. All of this that feels
- 17:16Speaker 1: implied during her final on screen Toby, I.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Did cry, did you?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 17:21Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I'm a heart of coal, dude. You and my.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Husband he did he enjoy this movie.
- 17:28Speaker 1: He liked it. But the other day we were sitting
- 17:31Speaker 1: outside and I was swatting away mosquitos and he goes,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know, maybe the reason they don't bite me is
- 17:35Speaker 1: because I'm so mean, Like I'm just a heart of stone.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And there's that's me too. I think you're just a softie, apparently.
- 17:44Speaker 2: I have one more scene I really liked, and it
- 17:47Speaker 2: was between Amanda and Gail, and it was the whole
- 17:51Speaker 2: conversation of her saying, you're the daughter I never had.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I saw that was quite touching.
- 18:00Speaker 1: And I do want to say I liked how quickly
- 18:02Speaker 1: Amanda got over being left out of the news. Oh.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I did think her saying yourselfish was shitty. I got
- 18:09Speaker 1: words about it in the next but segment. I liked
- 18:12Speaker 1: that that wasn't the major source of conflict for her
- 18:14Speaker 1: in Travis, because Travis was put in a position where
- 18:19Speaker 1: it wasn't his information to tell. Well, yeah, and.
- 18:22Speaker 2: There's all sorts of like privacy issues, He's not like
- 18:26Speaker 2: I was waiting for it. That's what I was waiting for,
- 18:29Speaker 2: was Amanda being pissed off at Travis for not letting
- 18:32Speaker 2: her in on Like, really, the real reason why he
- 18:35Speaker 2: was there not his place.
- 18:39Speaker 1: So let's talk what you wished for Okay.
- 18:41Speaker 2: While I like Erica Durance, I feel like she needs
- 18:45Speaker 2: to do something else. This movie was a downer, the
- 18:48Speaker 2: one that she was in before Unexpected Grace, where like
- 18:51Speaker 2: her child died downer?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Was it her child that died? Yes? But what's she
- 18:56Speaker 1: gonna do? Is girl a rom com? But that's not
- 19:00Speaker 1: on her Hallmark's like, you're good at this, I'm not Christiz.
- 19:05Speaker 1: You said she needs to do something else. Hallmark needs
- 19:09Speaker 1: to give her something else. I don't disagree. I'd like
- 19:11Speaker 1: to see her in her rom come. She does have
- 19:13Speaker 1: serious face. She's like me, like, I don't have fun face. Yeah,
- 19:17Speaker 1: so I would woar I an actress, I'd get the
- 19:20Speaker 1: misery treatment as well.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And that's why it's kind of funny. She doesn't have
- 19:24Speaker 2: fun face. Why is she tapped to sell stuff on HSN?
- 19:27Speaker 2: I know it's not HSN whatever their channel is, Like
- 19:30Speaker 2: she's too serious?
- 19:32Speaker 1: She was okay in the end, I don't think so.
- 19:34Speaker 1: When Miss Christmas wants Miss Holiday as she dubs her
- 19:38Speaker 1: to take over her role, She's like, I've always been
- 19:40Speaker 1: a behind the camera person and I thought, yeah, and
- 19:43Speaker 1: that's okay. Like some people are really meant to be
- 19:46Speaker 1: the ones running the show and not the ones starring
- 19:49Speaker 1: in the show exactly. I almost didn't want her to
- 19:52Speaker 1: be on camera me neither. I think they should have
- 19:54Speaker 1: put it Yes, mister Winters, Yes, yes, let him take over. Okay, y'all.
- 20:00Speaker 1: The outfits on some of these characters were tragic. Tell
- 20:03Speaker 1: me more, Miss Holiday. Someone hates her that like skirt
- 20:08Speaker 1: and jacket situation terrible. It was. We hear it more
- 20:13Speaker 1: than once. Someone get Keith costumes on the case. And
- 20:17Speaker 1: when Travis comes on screen and his red suit, my
- 20:20Speaker 1: husband goes, whoa, he looks like the devil, like not not,
- 20:25Speaker 1: where is my John brother di in sexy Santa suit?
- 20:28Speaker 1: It was not the look you were opie for the
- 20:33Speaker 1: John brother to something better than red suit, red tie.
- 20:37Speaker 1: It was not. It was It was like a child's
- 20:41Speaker 1: version of what someone would wear at Christmas. Yes, the
- 20:45Speaker 1: only person who looked good in their on camera like
- 20:50Speaker 1: show within the show was Wsiness Christmas. She looked fantastic.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I thought so too.
- 20:55Speaker 2: I absolutely hated when Amanda called Gail selfish for not
- 21:00Speaker 2: telling her about her current health condition. Again, as someone
- 21:05Speaker 2: who has been in this position and having to tell
- 21:07Speaker 2: people what I was dealing with, with my own diagnosis.
- 21:10Speaker 2: If somebody called me selfish for not telling them like
- 21:14Speaker 2: it would have sent me. I would have been like, bye,
- 21:17Speaker 2: we're not in each other's lives anymore. It is not
- 21:20Speaker 2: about you.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I just thought dump out that is, when you like
- 21:23Speaker 1: dump your trauma away from the center of the trauma.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I just was so pissed. I mean, I guess it's
- 21:30Speaker 2: probably realistic because people react in all kinds of certain
- 21:34Speaker 2: ways to bad news like that.
- 21:36Speaker 1: But this is a mother figure to her. Can you
- 21:38Speaker 1: imagine saying to your mother, who has a limited life
- 21:42Speaker 1: ahead of her with metastatic cancer, you were selfish for
- 21:45Speaker 1: not telling me. No, I mean, oh, I agree. Oh
- 21:49Speaker 1: it made me so mad. On camera, we're bouncing back
- 21:53Speaker 1: and forth from the series to the trivia. I'm wearing
- 21:56Speaker 1: tiny red mics. Yes, I noticed, so distracting. Not cute
- 22:02Speaker 1: if you like, they put like the little red phone
- 22:05Speaker 1: caps over their tiny little lavalier mics. I hated it.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You wish they were black. They should have Yes, they
- 22:12Speaker 1: should have faded into the background. They should not have
- 22:14Speaker 1: been obvious. It was not cute. If you need like
- 22:18Speaker 1: a Christmasy microphone, give them like a Taylor Swift be jeweled. Oh,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I like that prophone to hold in your hand. Yeah,
- 22:24Speaker 1: but a lavaler mic should just yeah, but they need
- 22:27Speaker 1: their hands. Fine, then where a lava ratic? This red
- 22:32Speaker 1: looks like I'm hosting the dating game in nineteen seventy five, gotcha?
- 22:37Speaker 2: Okay, so too many Christmas decorations. I had a reaction
- 22:41Speaker 2: when you talked about it. There were Christmas decorations all
- 22:45Speaker 2: over their RV or bus or whatever that thing was
- 22:48Speaker 2: supposed to be. The green room at one point was
- 22:52Speaker 2: like a tinted space. There were eight hundred Christmas trees
- 22:55Speaker 2: in it. Like, give me a break, that is not happening.
- 22:59Speaker 2: I just it was like the set dresser just threw
- 23:03Speaker 2: up Christmas all over that stuff. I get that it's
- 23:06Speaker 2: supposed to be I don't like Christmas.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Thanks for listening to this episode. Okay, they're in the
- 23:14Speaker 1: hospital and off goes Miss Holiday to run the show
- 23:17Speaker 1: because Miss Christmas can't do it. Yeah, and she goes
- 23:20Speaker 1: snow Travis, you need to stay in the hospital with her.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Why she's in a hospital. Why does she need her
- 23:25Speaker 1: rent a nurse to stay with her when she's in
- 23:27Speaker 1: a literal building full of medical professionals. And then right
- 23:31Speaker 1: before the show, she's like, you can go, I got
- 23:33Speaker 1: my dude here, dumb did you see that Donuts by
- 23:38Speaker 1: Mail so bad? This whole scene of them decorating those donuts,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and then they had someone come in with like a
- 23:46Speaker 1: professionally decorated one for them to showcase at the end.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Not even that the one, her reindeer one, not look
- 23:53Speaker 1: like my eight year old child, her favorite little mags.
- 23:57Speaker 1: They would sell those little reindeer donuts, sure, but the
- 24:00Speaker 1: whole scene where they're trying to put the fast horrifying.
- 24:04Speaker 1: But agree that was they were terrible. It's like, you
- 24:07Speaker 1: guys are terrible donut decorators. Get some better frosting for
- 24:11Speaker 1: them to use something. It was bad piping bag maybe something,
- 24:15Speaker 1: but Donuts by Mail. I didn't even catch that. They're like,
- 24:18Speaker 1: you can order these custom donuts. My husband goes, donuts
- 24:21Speaker 1: are good for like half an hour. Don'nut do not
- 24:24Speaker 1: travel well? No, they get super stale, Like you can't
- 24:27Speaker 1: freeze them. You can't. I understand there's a lot of
- 24:30Speaker 1: gourmet food items that you can ship. Donuts, ain't it.
- 24:33Speaker 1: Why didn't they make the cookies or something? I know
- 24:36Speaker 1: it was cute.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I like where they were going, like, ooh holiday donuts,
- 24:39Speaker 3: decorate your own donuts. Cute, poor execution.
- 24:44Speaker 2: I want to talk about Brendan Elliott's hair. The last
- 24:46Speaker 2: time we talked about hair on an actor we just
- 24:49Speaker 2: got killed in our das.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Teach Girl.
- 24:55Speaker 2: No, I'm not talking about like his real hair. I
- 24:57Speaker 2: was so distracted at the beginning of this movie because
- 25:00Speaker 2: he had these long, straggly hairs on his back that
- 25:03Speaker 2: were like over his collar, and I was like, what
- 25:06Speaker 2: is happening with this man's hair. Later it leads up
- 25:10Speaker 2: to he gets this glow up, he gets a makeover,
- 25:12Speaker 2: and then all that.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Don't cut your hair before filming. Let it get stragged.
- 25:16Speaker 3: It looked crazy.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It was terrible. I didn't. At one point I took a.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Photo of it on my big screen TV and went
- 25:25Speaker 2: to post it in the Facebook group, and then decided
- 25:27Speaker 2: not to because I was like.
- 25:29Speaker 1: They're gonna come for me there, little get so mad.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Let me see if I have it. Oh, oh my,
- 25:33Speaker 1: it is it's like a mullet.
- 25:36Speaker 2: No, that is that's that's a bad shot actually, because
- 25:39Speaker 2: there were times where he had his coat.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Up and it was like, that's what happens when your
- 25:43Speaker 1: hair grows and you need a haircut, And they had
- 25:45Speaker 1: to give him a haircut later in the movie, so
- 25:47Speaker 1: they had to let his hair be grown out. It
- 25:49Speaker 1: is not quite the raidable offense that Wendy is making
- 25:53Speaker 1: it out to be.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I found it distracting. I did not put it in
- 25:56Speaker 2: the Facebook group because I was like, somebody's gonna get
- 25:58Speaker 2: really mad at me. Well here podcast, Hey, send your
- 26:01Speaker 2: emails Megan and Windy at gmail dot com.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Twice this weekend we saw the same decorations. They were
- 26:09Speaker 1: inflatable Christmas ornaments the size of a large beach ball.
- 26:12Speaker 1: They were in Mystic Christmas. Sawyer used them, and then
- 26:14Speaker 1: they were also at one of the stops. And when
- 26:19Speaker 1: I saw them in Mystic Christmas, I paused the movie
- 26:23Speaker 1: and went to look for them online. Oh yeah, have
- 26:25Speaker 1: it at home too, you do? Yeah?
- 26:26Speaker 2: We put them out every year the last couple of years. No,
- 26:29Speaker 2: we don't put them in the pool. We put them
- 26:30Speaker 2: in the front yard or in the backyard. They like
- 26:32Speaker 2: just nestle nicely. They don't blow ay or anything.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Well, these the ones I found are like beach ball materials. Yeah,
- 26:39Speaker 1: so are ours. I want them in the pool, like
- 26:41Speaker 1: floating around. I'll look cute. So I even showed my husband.
- 26:45Speaker 1: I was like, we need these, they're cute. We just
- 26:47Speaker 1: buy them off of Amazon. Yes, that's where I found them.
- 26:50Speaker 1: I found them very cute. You get them like them.
- 26:52Speaker 2: What's awesome is they deflate, so they like deflate down
- 26:55Speaker 2: to flat you know what I mean?
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yes, but I feel like, do they not get faded
- 27:00Speaker 1: in the mind? Would be in the sun all season long. Well,
- 27:03Speaker 1: then you buy new ones. Nice. Yes, I'm going to
- 27:05Speaker 1: buy some, Okay.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I would like to shout out Michael and our Facebook
- 27:09Speaker 2: group for pointing out that Amanda goes into the bathroom
- 27:13Speaker 2: and the RV as her bedroom door. Now, I read
- 27:17Speaker 2: this before I watched the movie. I don't know if
- 27:18Speaker 2: I would have caught it myself, but it was clearly
- 27:22Speaker 2: the bathroom.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Hmm. You didn't see she's like, I'm going into my room.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It was the bathroom. The bathroom. Well. Michael also pointed
- 27:30Speaker 1: out that when they're filming and they're supposed to be
- 27:34Speaker 1: on the road, the RV has all the bumpouts open.
- 27:38Speaker 3: I don't know what a bump out is, so.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Is it like those things that like slide out so
- 27:45Speaker 1: where they were sitting, like at the kitchen table, when
- 27:48Speaker 1: the RV is in motion, that's all collapsed in, so
- 27:51Speaker 1: they would not have like the full kitchen table. It's
- 27:54Speaker 1: much narrower in that area. And then when it's stationary,
- 27:59Speaker 1: you slide the out, so you're sliding out like a
- 28:01Speaker 1: kitchen table or a kitchen island. You're a big seating area.
- 28:05Speaker 1: They clearly had all of that open when they were
- 28:08Speaker 1: supposedly on the road, which you cannot drive.
- 28:11Speaker 3: With those open.
- 28:12Speaker 1: He supposedly made a gourmet dinner too while they were
- 28:15Speaker 1: That's what I was saying. I was like, there's no
- 28:17Speaker 1: way you have access to your stove while the you
- 28:20Speaker 1: can't cook you can while then you don't have like
- 28:24Speaker 1: what you're running a generator and a moving vehicle. No, No,
- 28:27Speaker 1: I said the same thing. I said, there's no way
- 28:28Speaker 1: you're cooking while on the road and your RV is
- 28:31Speaker 1: like stocked the pantry is stocked with Well that I
- 28:34Speaker 1: could understand. People live in an RV. They're not living
- 28:38Speaker 1: in the RV though.
- 28:39Speaker 2: They slept in it, yeah, but they're not living there.
- 28:42Speaker 2: I would imagine these people are like dining out.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but that was not so unusual to me that
- 28:48Speaker 1: they would make a meal in an RV. They're gonna
- 28:50Speaker 1: have like the seasonings and the like. What did they make?
- 28:55Speaker 3: Awesome? That hard to make a pasta.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Catchtory pasta Christmas? Oh?
- 29:00Speaker 2: That was real cute If you put Christmas in the title,
- 29:03Speaker 2: I was like, that's cute. I'm going to make Christmas
- 29:05Speaker 2: sticky buns like.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I do every year.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Are you ready to rate this?
- 29:09Speaker 1: Well? Yeah, and I know that our ratings are going
- 29:12Speaker 1: to be markedly different after this discussion. What did you
- 29:14Speaker 1: give it? Two point seven five?
- 29:16Speaker 3: Three point seven five?
- 29:18Speaker 1: Wow? What? This is one of those movies that I
- 29:22Speaker 1: found very pleasant and enjoyable to watch, and I felt
- 29:25Speaker 1: like it gave me the.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Christmasy feels in a good way.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I didn't hate it.
- 29:30Speaker 3: It was just fine.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I will say for listeners, if you have skiptomistic Christmas,
- 29:36Speaker 1: make it your mission to watch it before our review
- 29:40Speaker 1: drops tomorrow. I think it is the surprise winner of
- 29:45Speaker 1: the season. WHOA, those are big words. It's early not
- 29:49Speaker 1: going to be a better movie, I think October thirty.
- 29:52Speaker 1: I'm not saying there's not going.
- 29:53Speaker 3: To be a better movie.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm saying I think it's the biggest surprize of the season. Okay,
- 29:57Speaker 1: we still have haul out the Hally too, we still
- 29:59Speaker 1: have Tyler hind movie.
- 30:01Speaker 3: We have what's his name?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Left the network came back ten minute, Tom Ramos, I
- 30:05Speaker 1: know who you're talking about. I can't remember his name.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Luke McFarland. Luke McFarland. There's so much good to come,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I know, but I'm expecting good from that. This is
