- 0:07Speaker 2: Yo, Bootleg cav podcast. Man, we got a special guest
- 0:09Speaker 2: in here, the very funny Ken Floor is welcome, sir.
- 0:12Speaker 1: What up? Man, appreciate you having me, man, Thank you,
- 0:14Speaker 1: thank you.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yere. You know I've noticed about you. You have a pretty
- 0:17Speaker 2: stellar fitted hat collection.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I know. I've loved hats ever since I
- 0:22Speaker 1: was growing up. I worked at Lids for a good minute.
- 0:24Speaker 2: You got the Lids discount?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Nah, No, I mean I got yeah, well, I got yeah. Well,
- 0:29Speaker 1: I mean I used to steal from that motherfucker so
- 0:31Speaker 1: they fired my eyes. But I was working there during
- 0:34Speaker 1: high school and ship that my coworker started sucking the manager,
- 0:37Speaker 1: so we started stealing because we was blackmailing her. Nice
- 0:40Speaker 1: all all kinds of shit. But anyways, all that to
- 0:42Speaker 1: say that, yeah, I got into hats around that time.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And now when people see it on the videos online,
- 0:47Speaker 1: every time I go to their city, they got one
- 0:50Speaker 1: ready for me. Gott to get it for you. Yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 1: this is the best.
- 0:53Speaker 2: What's uh the most you pay for a fitting?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Man? I mean usually the nice ones that I got
- 0:59Speaker 1: are are the ones that are gifts. I was just
- 1:02Speaker 1: in San Diego and I went into like just the
- 1:04Speaker 1: lids and bought like a regular I think it was
- 1:06Speaker 1: maybe like a spring training in San Diego Padres had
- 1:09Speaker 1: and that was sixty dollars, and I don't kind of hurt.
- 1:11Speaker 2: I was like, damn, nah, they're fucking dude, They're they're
- 1:14Speaker 2: up there. Especially if you go to like you know,
- 1:15Speaker 2: like shots to Cap City. You go over there, they
- 1:17Speaker 2: got like the variants, Like shit, you might spend like
- 1:19Speaker 2: seventy dollars on the fitting.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy. And then like when me when I
- 1:22Speaker 1: went on to perform, so usually I'm sweating on stage,
- 1:25Speaker 1: so I could only usually wear it once and after
- 1:27Speaker 1: that has got like a yellow stain on it or
- 1:30Speaker 1: like ass.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That shit is crazy. Ah. So you said you were
- 1:34Speaker 2: just in Reno this past weekend and you flooded your
- 1:36Speaker 2: hotel room.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Hell yeah, yeah, I was in Reno. It was my
- 1:39Speaker 1: first time there. I heard about it, but I ain't
- 1:41Speaker 1: a real methy town, real mad you know, it's crazy
- 1:44Speaker 1: because it's like it's a weird combo. It's like some
- 1:46Speaker 1: of the richest, wealthy as nice as white people, and
- 1:49Speaker 1: then just some of like the most trashiest fucking.
- 1:52Speaker 2: People's kind of like Vegas. Yeah, it's just like much
- 1:54Speaker 2: smaller and much more rednecky.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but but it was fun. Man. It was
- 1:58Speaker 1: my first time there. But they put me in like
- 1:59Speaker 1: a nice, a nice suite at the at the comedy
- 2:02Speaker 1: club was inside the casino and they put me in
- 2:04Speaker 1: a suite up there and they had a nice like
- 2:06Speaker 1: dracuzie with a big view. And usually I've got jacuzzies before,
- 2:11Speaker 1: but like at the Super eight, so I don't even
- 2:12Speaker 1: think about getting them, because.
- 2:13Speaker 2: They got jacuzzies at the Super eight.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you get like the they give you like the
- 2:16Speaker 1: deluxe sweet. Oh yeah, I mean I wouldn't get in.
- 2:18Speaker 1: They probably get something like STD or some shit. But
- 2:21Speaker 1: uh yeah, this this hotel was a little bit nicer.
- 2:23Speaker 1: So I ran the water. I let it fill up
- 2:26Speaker 1: all the way. I was drunk as hell, was me
- 2:27Speaker 1: and my girl. It's like five in the morning. We
- 2:29Speaker 1: had already we were down like fifteen hundred at the casino.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So I was like, you know, what's in the night,
- 2:34Speaker 1: the nice like jacuzzie, you know, So I filled it
- 2:37Speaker 1: up all away. I ain't realize that, you know, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: ain't never took this nice class or science class when
- 2:42Speaker 1: you put they talking about it was water distribution or
- 2:44Speaker 1: something like that. When you jump in that motherfucker the
- 2:47Speaker 1: water elevator. So me and my girl both got in
- 2:50Speaker 1: that motherfucker. And I'm a big motherfucker already, so that shit,
- 2:53Speaker 1: it was just like a tsunami. Bro Like, I just
- 2:56Speaker 1: looked at the water like flood the whole apartment. And
- 3:00Speaker 1: crazy thing is that we I had just traveled from
- 3:03Speaker 1: Chicago to Reno, and I was doing laundry because I
- 3:05Speaker 1: stopped to visit my parents and my I was gonna
- 3:08Speaker 1: miss my flight, so I didn't let my clothes dry
- 3:10Speaker 1: all the way. So as soon as I got to
- 3:12Speaker 1: the suite, I laid everything out on the floor air dry,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and now everything's on the floor. So it's the fucking
- 3:17Speaker 1: sweetest flood and everything's just getting soaked all over again.
- 3:21Speaker 1: So we're it's just me and my girl. We're literally
- 3:23Speaker 1: fighting to get out this dracuzie. But of course the
- 3:25Speaker 1: dracuzie is like like he's got like a little slant,
- 3:29Speaker 1: so we're slipping. It's like some cartoon shit flint Stone ship,
- 3:32Speaker 1: like we're running and play Scooby Douch shit. You know,
- 3:35Speaker 1: finally we get to jump out the goddamn uh CHACUZI
- 3:38Speaker 1: we put everything away, But I mean at this point,
- 3:40Speaker 1: like we're walking around the whole weekend, uh, and here's
- 3:45Speaker 1: all the water and the goddamn fucking carpet. It's just
- 3:48Speaker 1: by the third day, it just smelled like it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Was like mold.
- 3:50Speaker 1: It was mold. I was like, we either gonna go
- 3:52Speaker 1: through this motherfucking ceiling down to the next floor or
- 3:56Speaker 1: the next motherfucker will no deposit. No, not the bozigone.
- 4:00Speaker 1: We just started smoking in that moment. At that point,
- 4:02Speaker 1: we just started.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, once you fled the room, you just got to
- 4:06Speaker 2: kind of like, I don't know, just do whatever you
- 4:08Speaker 2: want in there. At that point, for real, You're like,
- 4:10Speaker 2: I'm gonna smoke weed.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Might as well sub least demo for Yeah, my Airbnb's
- 4:15Speaker 1: bitch out for a day, you know, shit shot.
- 4:19Speaker 2: What's it? So you're originally from Chicago, right, Yeah.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I grew up in the North side of Chicago, Hombo
- 4:25Speaker 1: Park neighborhood, and then I moved out right around like
- 4:28Speaker 1: middle school, middle school, high school. I moved moved out
- 4:31Speaker 1: to Aurora, which is a suburb of Chicago about forty
- 4:34Speaker 1: miles west of downtown. Wayne's World was actually shot there.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Waynswood was shot in your hometown.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yep, a ruraland north fire.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I'm curious because, like, I don't think a lot of
- 4:43Speaker 2: people give like the city of Chicago, like like enough
- 4:46Speaker 2: credit as it being like a real Mexican city. Oh yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 2: because like when we think of Mexicans, we think of
- 4:51Speaker 2: like Texas the West Coast, like, but Chicago's like I
- 4:56Speaker 2: would always say the furthest East. You can get real
- 4:59Speaker 2: dope Mexican food is Chicago. Anything after that, shit's fucked up.
- 5:03Speaker 1: No, man, man, there's actually an argument going on online.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I've actually gotten gone viral a few times. Bread is
- 5:10Speaker 1: argument of saying that just Chicago has got better in
- 5:12Speaker 1: Mexican food than the whole country, even California. Yeah, some people. Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 1: I've lived here a little bit longer now in l A,
- 5:22Speaker 1: and I've i come to realize that it's just that
- 5:24Speaker 1: you guys got a lot of options.
- 5:26Speaker 2: What's also a home for you?
- 5:27Speaker 1: So like I get it, Yeah, but but we do
- 5:29Speaker 1: got good food though.
- 5:30Speaker 2: For sure, I heard it. I heard it's amazing.
- 5:32Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean yeah, but when I started touring
- 5:34Speaker 1: and traveling. I tell people I'm from Chicago, and the
- 5:36Speaker 1: first reaction is there's Mexicans there, which to me is
- 5:39Speaker 1: like insane, because I mean I'm from there, so I'm like,
- 5:40Speaker 1: what the fuck, Like everybody, we're all Mexican up there.
- 5:43Speaker 1: What are you talking about? But but yeah, it was crazy,
- 5:45Speaker 1: but it's also a culture shock to go to New
- 5:47Speaker 1: York or like my first time I was ever on
- 5:49Speaker 1: the road, I went to DC and I realized that
- 5:53Speaker 1: there's their majority of Latino was Salvadorian. It wasn't Mexican.
- 5:57Speaker 1: So that was kind of weird to me. I was like, whoa,
- 6:00Speaker 1: That's like when I moved.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I lived in Florida for three years, and you know,
- 6:04Speaker 2: if I met a Mexican, I was excited. All from
- 6:06Speaker 2: the West Coast. Where can I get good food? And
- 6:09Speaker 2: they're like.
- 6:10Speaker 1: They're not, say yeah, yeah, it is a culture, especially
- 6:15Speaker 1: if you frequent only the West coast, you know, Texas
- 6:18Speaker 1: or Chicago, and then you go out easier like oh yeah.
- 6:20Speaker 2: You go to Florida. It's that cool Cubano food man,
- 6:23Speaker 2: which is fire. It's fire, for sure, but it's different.
- 6:27Speaker 2: It's it's totally different.
- 6:28Speaker 1: In Chicago, we actually got a we actually got. We
- 6:31Speaker 1: got Puerto Ricans in Hombo Parking neighborhood, and we got
- 6:34Speaker 1: Puerto Rican Chicago food that's not even available in Puerto Rico.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's only in Chicago.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Puerto Rican Chicago, a style of Puerto Rican food in Chicago.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Only specific specifically, they created this like text mes yeah, yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: like text mex but they got this thing. It's called
- 6:48Speaker 1: the head Etho. I always found it out. It's it's
- 6:51Speaker 1: it's basically like a state sandwich when instead of bread
- 6:53Speaker 1: they use planteens. And it's just I mean a one
- 6:56Speaker 1: shout out to Heids and Mons in Chicago and Humble Park.
- 6:59Speaker 1: It's gas bro. I recommend you guys to go there.
- 7:02Speaker 1: But that's why Chicago is different, Like the food is
- 7:04Speaker 1: just I think we got the best food in the world.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Ain't gonna lie.
- 7:06Speaker 2: I've heard. I've heard it's amazing. My friend is radio
- 7:09Speaker 2: out there. Uh so, north side of Chicago's Cubs yep,
- 7:13Speaker 2: south side obviously white sox So did you grow up
- 7:17Speaker 2: a Cubs fin? You know what?
- 7:18Speaker 1: The people we used to live in a basement, me
- 7:20Speaker 1: and my family and the people that the landlord that
- 7:22Speaker 1: lived above us, which is kind of like our family
- 7:25Speaker 1: now that we consider them. But they were like huge
- 7:27Speaker 1: coach fans, so I just I just remember like Sammy
- 7:30Speaker 1: Sosa during his prime and all that, and they were
- 7:33Speaker 1: They never took me to a game, and I still
- 7:35Speaker 1: to this day have never been to a Cubs game.
- 7:37Speaker 1: But they grew up liking the Cubs. You know, as
- 7:39Speaker 1: I got older, I kind of fell off of baseball
- 7:41Speaker 1: and I started wearing a lot of black. So I'll
- 7:43Speaker 1: just buy a whole bunch of socks gear.
- 7:44Speaker 2: I mean, white Sox, the cleanest hat in all sports. Yeah, definitely,
- 7:48Speaker 2: Like I think I probably owned three hundred white Sox
- 7:51Speaker 2: fitted in the last ten weeks.
- 7:52Speaker 1: They go with everything.
- 7:53Speaker 2: You can wear white Sox fitted with anything, yep.
- 7:55Speaker 1: And then but I've been to white Sox games, but
- 7:58Speaker 1: I've actually been to more Dodgers games and then anything.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So I guess I consider myself with Dodgers right now.
- 8:03Speaker 1: But but yeah, yeah, I grew up a Cubs fan.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Uh when you were growing up, because obviously, you know,
- 8:11Speaker 2: when we think of Chicago from like the hip hop perspective,
- 8:14Speaker 2: at least in the last decade, we think like the
- 8:16Speaker 2: shy Iraq quote unquote, the drill scene. Obviously the North
- 8:20Speaker 2: Side is a lot not near that where you were
- 8:22Speaker 2: at and obviously moved out, But did you did you like,
- 8:25Speaker 2: were you like being in your hometown during that era
- 8:31Speaker 2: of like drill and everything that was happening out of Chicago,
- 8:34Speaker 2: Like what would like? Was that like dope just to
- 8:36Speaker 2: kind of be around for Bro?
- 8:37Speaker 1: I'm like, Bro, it's it's like, you know what this is?
- 8:40Speaker 1: How inspiring that shit is. This weekend, Chief Keith was
- 8:44Speaker 1: back in.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Chicago first time in twelve years for Summer Smash.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I was like, I was literally considering canceling my show
- 8:50Speaker 1: to fly back to Chicago because I got I'm friends
- 8:52Speaker 1: with the people that own speaker Box, So I was
- 8:54Speaker 1: shout out my homie, even Caronza so he always looks
- 8:57Speaker 1: me up with tickets and like it was such a
- 8:58Speaker 1: monumental movement for s like I'm watching the goddamn tiktoks.
- 9:02Speaker 1: My eyes are watery and shit, my fucking I'm getting goosebumps.
- 9:05Speaker 1: If you follow me on Instagram, it's Ken Flores's three
- 9:08Speaker 1: zero zero, It's three hundred because we were so like
- 9:10Speaker 1: it just inspired Chief keefs just I'm not a beady
- 9:13Speaker 1: I'm not a black disciple, right, but but we all,
- 9:16Speaker 1: like all he had the Mexicans, the Blacks, the white
- 9:18Speaker 1: everybody was beaty around that time twenty twelve when like
- 9:22Speaker 1: Back from the Dead came out Fredo Santana and me
- 9:26Speaker 1: one time. One time, me and Fredo Santana. He had
- 9:28Speaker 1: a concert and I was up there just game banging.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I'm not evenna say what I was saying, but I
- 9:32Speaker 1: was game banging and he saw me, so we started
- 9:34Speaker 1: game banging on each other. It was it was like
- 9:36Speaker 1: like I was a huge fan of the whole glow,
- 9:38Speaker 1: like the Glory Boys and all that little dirt when
- 9:41Speaker 1: he came up, I mean, and then like following g
- 9:43Speaker 1: Herbel Baby right after all that, Like that whole time
- 9:46Speaker 1: was like they made it seem like even me as
- 9:49Speaker 1: a comedian because like Kanye made it out of Chicago,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know. But I was too young at the time.
- 9:54Speaker 1: I was born ninety six for sure, Like I wasn't
- 9:56Speaker 1: even like into hip hop around that time, like because
- 9:59Speaker 1: you know, my parents Mexican, I didn't even know hip
- 10:01Speaker 1: hop was a thing or whatever. So when I got
- 10:03Speaker 1: into hip hop it was a little bit later. But
- 10:05Speaker 1: just being able to witness that whole era of love foe,
- 10:09Speaker 1: you know, like these guys like for a long time,
- 10:12Speaker 1: they made their whole their friends famous, like like Fredo
- 10:16Speaker 1: Santana had like the Savage Squad, Little Dirt and his
- 10:19Speaker 1: OTF crew. You know, it's sad. Obviously, they also ignited
- 10:22Speaker 1: a war in Chicago, and you know a lot of
- 10:25Speaker 1: people lost their life. Yeah, but I mean just like
- 10:27Speaker 1: the as far as the motivation too, Like it made
- 10:30Speaker 1: me feel like, oh shit, this dude is from here,
- 10:32Speaker 1: like the same place I'm from. Not necessarily the same place,
- 10:35Speaker 1: right because it's a completely different world the South Side
- 10:38Speaker 1: compared to the North Side or the suburbs, but just
- 10:41Speaker 1: just like him, Like damn, he lived like out here,
- 10:44Speaker 1: he walked these streets and he fucking made it. He
- 10:46Speaker 1: blew up. He's a multi millionaire, huge innerscope deal. Sixteen
- 10:50Speaker 1: years old. I'm sixteen years old, you know, like at
- 10:52Speaker 1: the time, and it just motivated me to be like, oh,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I could make it, and what I want to do
- 10:58Speaker 1: if he can do it, you know, and then I
- 11:01Speaker 1: ain't gonna lie. Like it was really inspirational, like and
- 11:03Speaker 1: a lot of people started rapping. Has a lot of
- 11:06Speaker 1: rappers from Chicago came up.
- 11:07Speaker 2: He's probably I mean, I mean, look when you break
- 11:09Speaker 2: it down, like the last you know, ten to fifteen years,
- 11:14Speaker 2: it's like him future.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 2: As far as the most influential influencing other artists, sound like,
- 11:21Speaker 2: it's probably those two, like you know, because.
- 11:24Speaker 1: It was I mean, it was just completely like yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, man to.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Me, it was I was dope. It was dope. I
- 11:31Speaker 2: was at I was at Rolling Loud, uh and I
- 11:33Speaker 2: was on stage while he was performing because Sexy Red
- 11:36Speaker 2: cave out. We were up there were that ship was
- 11:39Speaker 2: a free for all on stage. They had the whole
- 11:42Speaker 2: goddamn everybody from Rolling Loud was was just wanted to
- 11:46Speaker 2: come and see him perform because like he don't perform
- 11:49Speaker 2: like like that, you know, like for for and you know,
- 11:52Speaker 2: like to see him go back to Chicago was dope.
- 11:54Speaker 2: I didn't even realize that they're like your first time
- 11:56Speaker 2: in twelve years somebody.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah. And so there are songs like, for example, like
- 12:00Speaker 1: like Fernido who you know you put it at a
- 12:02Speaker 1: club at any concert, it's gonna play and people crazy.
- 12:06Speaker 1: So it's the first time he gets to perform that,
- 12:09Speaker 1: which is crazy. I mean, it's insane, Like I mean,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I mean, like I said, I just wish I was there.
- 12:14Speaker 1: It's definitely a crazy moment.
- 12:16Speaker 2: So how did you kind of break it down?
- 12:19Speaker 1: Man?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Like? Obviously you know you're you're obviously killing it, You're
- 12:23Speaker 2: you're torn, you've you've been killing it as a comedian,
- 12:25Speaker 2: But how did all all this start for you?
- 12:28Speaker 1: I mean, shout out to the internet. You know, Internet
- 12:30Speaker 1: definitely changing a lot of people's eyes right now if
- 12:32Speaker 1: you're a content creator. But as far as I put
- 12:35Speaker 1: me in the game, you actually just had my big one,
- 12:36Speaker 1: Rene Baka here not too long ago. The way the
- 12:40Speaker 1: way I kind of started getting on the road was
- 12:44Speaker 1: I I came across some of his videos. He was
- 12:46Speaker 1: actually one of the first people to start like with
- 12:48Speaker 1: those with those viral stand up clips. Now I know
- 12:51Speaker 1: that they're all over the internet. You know, most of
- 12:52Speaker 1: them are trashed, but he was like, everybody's doing them,
- 12:55Speaker 1: everybody's doing them, but they don't. Everybody don't.
- 12:58Speaker 2: And also they're forcing crowd work to try to get
- 13:00Speaker 2: one of those moments as opposed to just focusing on
- 13:02Speaker 2: the comedy.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it sucks to see a comedian performed looking for
- 13:05Speaker 1: a clip or chasing the clip.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Yes, Like it's like, dude, just do do as it
- 13:08Speaker 2: gets set, that'll happen.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it happens. It happens. If it don't, it
- 13:11Speaker 1: don't is way more organic, you feel me. But Renee
- 13:14Speaker 1: was one of those guys that like he was never
- 13:16Speaker 1: looking for the clip. He's just a fucking crazy motherfucker
- 13:19Speaker 1: on stage. His energy is insane, so his videos would
- 13:22Speaker 1: automatically go viral, you know. And I remember me and
- 13:24Speaker 1: my homeboy Chin's at the time were watching them and
- 13:27Speaker 1: we're like, dude, whenever this kid, I don't know who
- 13:29Speaker 1: this kid is, but we need to go see him
- 13:31Speaker 1: whenever it comes to Chicago, And he had booked a
- 13:33Speaker 1: show at the Laugh Factory out there. At this point,
- 13:35Speaker 1: Rene only had like forty thousand followers, So I messaged him.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I was like, hey man, you know, I'm a comedian
- 13:39Speaker 1: in Chicago. At that point, I was had like a
- 13:41Speaker 1: thousand followers or something. I was I would love to
- 13:43Speaker 1: open for you, We would love to work with you.
- 13:45Speaker 1: You know, you're from San Fernando Valley, I got families,
- 13:47Speaker 1: you know. I was trying to like relate to hev
- 13:49Speaker 1: you feeling like so he give me a spot, but
- 13:51Speaker 1: he was like, bro, I already got people coming with me.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You know, I'm sorry, I can't really give you a spot.
- 13:55Speaker 1: And I understand him because now I get people that
- 13:56Speaker 1: message me that, and you're like, what, I put you
- 14:00Speaker 1: up everybody? You know, So I get him now. But
- 14:02Speaker 1: at that time, and I was like, damn, Luckily I
- 14:04Speaker 1: had a relationship with the club. So then the club
- 14:07Speaker 1: ended up hitting me up there like you know what,
- 14:09Speaker 1: somebody dropped out so he'd come through five minutes open
- 14:11Speaker 1: for him. I was like, all right, fuck it. So
- 14:12Speaker 1: I went up first before all his openers, and I look,
- 14:15Speaker 1: he killed that shit. And it was only like forty
- 14:18Speaker 1: people there. Like he wasn't that big at the time,
- 14:19Speaker 1: so we could. We didn't really sell tickets. It was
- 14:21Speaker 1: kind of empty, but we rocked the show that night.
- 14:24Speaker 1: We drank and then and then he started telling me like, bro,
- 14:27Speaker 1: put your content out. Put your content out, like it's
- 14:30Speaker 1: gonna start to blow up. People follow you, you know.
- 14:32Speaker 1: I was like, all right, fucking I'm gonna do it.
- 14:33Speaker 1: So we started me in my roommate at the time.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I told him, I was like, I'm gonna pay for
- 14:37Speaker 1: your half of the rent. Just do me a favor, like,
- 14:39Speaker 1: just cut out clips for me, and that's all I
- 14:41Speaker 1: needed to do. He was my video guy at the time.
- 14:43Speaker 1: He was like, all right, fuck it, I'll do it.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So we started putting out clips every week and I
- 14:48Speaker 1: started growing when they started blowing up like Max, like
- 14:51Speaker 1: to the Max. Then he was gonna come back to Chicago.
- 14:53Speaker 1: The time he came back to Chicago, he actually hit
- 14:55Speaker 1: me up. He's like, hey, man, I see you've been
- 14:57Speaker 1: doing your thing. I'm about to go back. Help me
- 15:00Speaker 1: promote the show. Let's sell it out. I'll let your
- 15:02Speaker 1: feature for me and you'll give you twenty minutes instead
- 15:04Speaker 1: of fine. I was like, all right, fucking we announced
- 15:06Speaker 1: the show. It sold out like in two days. There's
- 15:09Speaker 1: like three hundred people. So I was like, oh shit,
- 15:10Speaker 1: like we got something going here. So then we did
- 15:12Speaker 1: the show, rocked that well. He actually his feature. Something
- 15:17Speaker 1: had happened. We had overbooked the show, so they had
- 15:19Speaker 1: to have me host instead, which hosting kind of sucks
- 15:22Speaker 1: because then you got to go first.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And in the middle of everybody, in the middle of everybody.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But I was like, you know what, I'm instead of
- 15:28Speaker 1: looking at it like fuck you know, I got the mooted.
- 15:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna look at it like opportunity. I get to
- 15:32Speaker 1: go up there multiple times, so I'm gonna make them
- 15:34Speaker 1: love me. So I went up there. I fucking rocked
- 15:36Speaker 1: that shit, and they got to a point where the
- 15:38Speaker 1: people were waiting for the comedians to hurry up and
- 15:40Speaker 1: finish just so they can see me again. So then
- 15:42Speaker 1: Renee obviously went up there and rocked that shit. And
- 15:45Speaker 1: then from there he told me, he's like, hey, bro,
- 15:47Speaker 1: call off work tomorrow and let's go to Detroit. I
- 15:49Speaker 1: got another tour stuff up there. Shit. I was like, shit,
- 15:52Speaker 1: say lez I call working.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I was.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I was doing leasing for an apartment complex that over
- 15:56Speaker 1: there and back home, and I was like fuck it.
- 15:58Speaker 1: So I called off work and we went up to Detroit.
- 16:01Speaker 1: We drove all the way up to Detroit. We did
- 16:03Speaker 1: the show, and from there we went out to drink
- 16:05Speaker 1: to a buffalo Wowings. I remember, this is the relationship
- 16:07Speaker 1: somebody ever did for me in comedy. We were drinking
- 16:09Speaker 1: at the be Doves and he's like, bro, you need
- 16:11Speaker 1: to come to La. Have you ever performed in La?
- 16:14Speaker 1: And at that time, I already was kind of building
- 16:15Speaker 1: a following and people would tell me like, are you
- 16:17Speaker 1: from La, You need to come to La. I was like,
- 16:20Speaker 1: I don't know nobody in Labor, so I've never performed
- 16:22Speaker 1: out there, but I know I got people that's waiting
- 16:23Speaker 1: on me. So he's like, how about this, you and
- 16:25Speaker 1: me go to the Haja Comedy Club. Well co headline,
- 16:29Speaker 1: so you will go fifty fifty on the door. You
- 16:31Speaker 1: can have fifty, I'll keep fifty. And he didn't have
- 16:33Speaker 1: to do that. He could have just been like, you
- 16:34Speaker 1: could open for me.
- 16:35Speaker 2: And you'd been like, I'm in hell.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, fuck, I don't give a shit if I would
- 16:38Speaker 1: have been negative, like I'm coming so, but instead he
- 16:41Speaker 1: did that for me, And before we left the be Duves,
- 16:45Speaker 1: he had already got on the phone with the owner
- 16:47Speaker 1: of ha haa comedy club, shot out to Terry and
- 16:50Speaker 1: we already had the link up before we left. Ken
- 16:53Speaker 1: Flores and Renee Vaka like co headline in Haha Comedy Club,
- 16:57Speaker 1: North Hollywood. So that to me was like, oh shit,
- 16:59Speaker 1: Like he's he's like he like he's doing it. You know,
- 17:02Speaker 1: he's not just talking out his ass because in this business,
- 17:04Speaker 1: motherfuckers be talking out the ass. So I was like,
- 17:07Speaker 1: fucking we gone. Then. So from there he went back
- 17:09Speaker 1: home and we didn't really speak until like the week
- 17:12Speaker 1: of the shows the show started selling out. We started
- 17:14Speaker 1: with one show, ended up with four total. And I
- 17:18Speaker 1: remember that weekend we did the show and this motherfucker
- 17:21Speaker 1: pulled out. He did on purpose, but it was cool
- 17:24Speaker 1: of him. He pulled. He got the money in cash
- 17:26Speaker 1: and he gave me. You know, it was like like
- 17:28Speaker 1: six seventh grand, big old stacker cash and I had
- 17:31Speaker 1: never had that much bread, like legal money like like that.
- 17:34Speaker 1: I was like, damn, Like this motherfucker just changed my
- 17:36Speaker 1: life literally, like this seven thousand, I'm able to quit
- 17:39Speaker 1: my job and move out here. And then he's like,
- 17:41Speaker 1: and I got Boston, New York and he gave me
- 17:43Speaker 1: a list of like eight cities. Following weeks, he's like,
- 17:46Speaker 1: let me know. So I fucking I didn't even call
- 17:48Speaker 1: my boss. I just went back home. I dropped my
- 17:51Speaker 1: keys off in the office. I got a one way
- 17:53Speaker 1: back to LA and I never went back. This is
- 17:56Speaker 1: last year. At the beginning of the year twenty twenty three, January,
- 17:58Speaker 1: fuck yeah, and I was Janet and that was what
- 18:01Speaker 1: June twenty twenty four I'm on my own tour, I
- 18:04Speaker 1: got my own agents, my own management is because every
- 18:07Speaker 1: time he was in the room, that's my dope. Hell yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I feel like people don't be putting on like that
- 18:12Speaker 2: like they like they should. Man, I feel like, obviously
- 18:14Speaker 2: you always hear guys like Joe Rogan bringing people up,
- 18:17Speaker 2: but like you know, I feel like I feel like
- 18:19Speaker 2: there's the other side of comedy where people are very
- 18:21Speaker 2: like stingy with the yeah you like.
- 18:24Speaker 1: The thing about Renee, the way he moves, He's very confident,
- 18:28Speaker 1: but he doesn't just appear to be confident. He is
- 18:31Speaker 1: confident in his material, in his work, so he don't
- 18:34Speaker 1: mind putting me up before him a lot. There is
- 18:37Speaker 1: a lot of times where I would do shows in
- 18:38Speaker 1: Chicago and people be like, oh, I'm not gonna go
- 18:40Speaker 1: after Cans because he can's gonna rip it up right,
- 18:42Speaker 1: and then I'm gonna have to go fucking suck so so,
- 18:45Speaker 1: and he don't. He's not scared of having to follow somebody. Funny. Now,
- 18:48Speaker 1: I feel like you want somebody to kill it. Hell yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: that should be the mindset, but it isn't for a
- 18:52Speaker 1: lot of people, you know, so he they.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Want to be the funniest person of the night no
- 18:55Speaker 2: matter what.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Of course, even if it means booking people, that's sucking
- 18:59Speaker 1: having the crowd have to sit through the bullshit, right,
- 19:02Speaker 1: But yeah, he did that for me, and because he
- 19:04Speaker 1: is confident in his material, he don't mind me getting
- 19:07Speaker 1: a piece of the pine. And then you realize in
- 19:08Speaker 1: this game is fucking money everywhere.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Now when I saw you, guys, I saw you and
- 19:12Speaker 2: him and Concrete pulled up that ship was dog. That
- 19:15Speaker 2: was one of the funnier nights. And you were roasting
- 19:17Speaker 2: this dude in the front row you. The whole crowd
- 19:20Speaker 2: was chating Frank is gay. Do you remember that?
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:25Speaker 2: You know, Frank sucks, Dick Frank sucks.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Oh my god. Yeah, that you gotta be careful about
- 19:31Speaker 1: because you never know.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Now you're like, who do you want to do? I
- 19:34Speaker 2: was like, damn, I was like ship but being ben bother,
- 19:37Speaker 2: like what the fuck.
- 19:38Speaker 1: You have to say? It's like a new age of comedy,
- 19:41Speaker 1: you know, like it was cool though.
- 19:42Speaker 2: It's so funny dude, Yeah it was, it was, It was.
- 19:44Speaker 2: It was a good night. So before you met Renee,
- 19:47Speaker 2: how long was your comedic journey before that? Like, were
- 19:50Speaker 2: you just doing open mics.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Like I mean, so my license got revoked because I
- 19:55Speaker 1: was driving. Yeah, okay, So and I was already living
- 19:58Speaker 1: on in the in the Aura, so it's about like
- 20:01Speaker 1: a thirty five minute drive into the city, so I
- 20:03Speaker 1: didn't really have rides to go into the city. So
- 20:05Speaker 1: I couldn't really do open mics like that I was.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I was only doing open mics in my hometown, which
- 20:10Speaker 1: only be like once a month. I did comedy about
- 20:13Speaker 1: five years before I've ember day. Wow, so I was
- 20:15Speaker 1: five years in.
- 20:16Speaker 2: But it was very much like a hobby. Were you
- 20:18Speaker 2: super like in it? Like, Yo, this shit's gonna work.
- 20:21Speaker 1: It had to work, Like I was. I was like,
- 20:23Speaker 1: it's it has to work because I know I ain't.
- 20:26Speaker 1: I don't want to go work at a factory. No
- 20:28Speaker 1: more warehouse. I'm done with that ship. I was into drugs.
- 20:31Speaker 2: Really bad too, doing them or selling them?
- 20:33Speaker 1: Doing them? No, I was not selling nothing. I was
- 20:35Speaker 1: doing all my products.
- 20:37Speaker 2: But what drugs were you doing?
- 20:39Speaker 1: Cocaine? Man? Oh? Yeah, yeah, that's the one to fuck
- 20:42Speaker 1: you up?
- 20:42Speaker 2: Explain why your friends with our good buddy Alexis.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But uh but anyway, so yeah, that and and I
- 20:50Speaker 1: ended up doing I was doing open mics or whatever,
- 20:52Speaker 1: but I was I kind of had to make sure
- 20:55Speaker 1: I killed every show I was on to be able
- 20:58Speaker 1: to leave with another booking from that show because I
- 21:00Speaker 1: didn't have time to hang out or the politics hang
- 21:03Speaker 1: out exactly. I just couldn't do it because I didn't
- 21:05Speaker 1: have to ride it. I was fucked, so I had
- 21:07Speaker 1: to work with what I had. So only in my
- 21:08Speaker 1: whole life is kind of weird to say, and people
- 21:10Speaker 1: don't believe me when I say it, but I've only
- 21:11Speaker 1: ever done like eight or nine open mics ever. From there,
- 21:14Speaker 1: it was just shows that I was booking, shows that
- 21:16Speaker 1: I was booking, and then the Internet just put the
- 21:18Speaker 1: Internet and they just took everything off. But luckily, like
- 21:22Speaker 1: I was ready and I you know, it also takes talent.
- 21:26Speaker 1: It's not hard work is hard work, but there's also
- 21:28Speaker 1: got to.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Be a little you can do. You could work really
- 21:30Speaker 2: hard at putting out shitty music. No one's gonna like it. Yeah,
- 21:33Speaker 2: but like if you suck, you suck, like you know,
- 21:35Speaker 2: it is where it is now. If you have a
- 21:37Speaker 2: little bit of talent, you know, maybe you know, like
- 21:39Speaker 2: you know, we see some subpar comedians doing well but
- 21:41Speaker 2: they have great fucking work ethics.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, so you will get better. And that's
- 21:47Speaker 1: what I've been doing on the road because I definitely
- 21:48Speaker 1: wasn't ready because a lot of comedians, especially like the Ogs,
- 21:51Speaker 1: like the burg Christis Thompson girls, like most of them,
- 21:54Speaker 1: they got to feature for years before they started headlining,
- 21:58Speaker 1: So they walked into a lot of these venues already.
- 22:00Speaker 1: So when you walk it somewhere that you've already been
- 22:02Speaker 1: to before, it's different. It's a completely different confidence. Even
- 22:05Speaker 1: if the status you know it, you know the player,
- 22:07Speaker 1: you know where the backstage is, where the back.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Peop kind of have an idea about the people who
- 22:11Speaker 2: come to the shows in those cities.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Exactly exactly, and you're not iffy about like you know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: if you're about ship you know. But yeah, and then
- 22:18Speaker 1: with me, it's like a lot of these places I'm
- 22:20Speaker 1: going to is I'm going there for the first time,
- 22:22Speaker 1: so I don't know I'm gonna get treated right, but
- 22:25Speaker 1: so so it kind of like the first night's always
- 22:28Speaker 1: kind of like uh, kind of rubbing the dust stuff
- 22:30Speaker 1: or whatever. But but yeah, man, I mean sure, fuck it.
- 22:33Speaker 1: We live in a time where it's like it's either
- 22:35Speaker 1: now or never. So I'm not gonna be like, oh no,
- 22:38Speaker 1: I can't do it because I'm I'm fucking you. Gotta
- 22:40Speaker 1: learn as we go.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I saw you on the on the Cooking Show with
- 22:44Speaker 2: with Burt Kreischer, have any of those those kind of
- 22:47Speaker 2: like that kind of gang of comedians. Uh, embraced you,
- 22:52Speaker 2: looked out for you because I know you say you
- 22:54Speaker 2: you go to Austin, your girls from Austin, right.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, I'm not. I'm not. I haven't
- 23:01Speaker 1: got into that circuit though. The way the Burt Chrisier
- 23:03Speaker 1: thing came about was because Filippe was supposed to do
- 23:06Speaker 1: that show with I believe it was a actor or
- 23:10Speaker 1: Latino actor, uh, and he actually got a part last minute,
- 23:13Speaker 1: so he had to fly out. So Bert just I'm
- 23:16Speaker 1: not I don't even know, I mean sorry, Philippe hit
- 23:18Speaker 1: me up. I don't know if I was the second option,
- 23:20Speaker 1: third fourth, I don't know.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Better hit you and you were like I'm there.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I was like, I'm in la and where they shot it,
- 23:25Speaker 1: and there seven minutes from the house. I was like,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'll be there, so I show I showed up and
- 23:31Speaker 1: luckily man I knocked that out the park and me
- 23:34Speaker 1: and Bert. You know, we built a relationship from there
- 23:35Speaker 1: a little bit. We exchanged info. Yeah, I got I
- 23:38Speaker 1: got his number and everything. But I'm not one of
- 23:40Speaker 1: those guys that like reaches out to people just because
- 23:42Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't know, I just I'm not.
- 23:44Speaker 2: That I say, they just how hard Like some of
- 23:45Speaker 2: those guys work with like so many show ideas like
- 23:49Speaker 2: that damn motherfucker's does so much. I'm like brown, Yeah, man,
- 23:53Speaker 2: he drinks so much.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean, I dude, I'd be like, I'll
- 23:55Speaker 1: be so goddamn tired just flying to the damn shows.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yeah, get off that plane, like, yeah, well I need
- 24:01Speaker 2: a nap.
- 24:02Speaker 1: No, they get off planes and they go do podcasts
- 24:04Speaker 1: and then they go do performances. I'm like, hey, I
- 24:07Speaker 1: want something. If it's a travel day, it's a travel day.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That's it. All I'm gonna do is travel.
- 24:10Speaker 2: You said it on that So you are still with
- 24:12Speaker 2: the girl who moved out with you immediately after pretty
- 24:15Speaker 2: much knowing her.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Correct Yeah, yeah, we broke up, but she came back.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Okay, So was it you they got a tattoo or
- 24:21Speaker 2: she got a tattoo or we both got a tattoo,
- 24:23Speaker 2: So each of you got a tattoo. How how soon
- 24:26Speaker 2: after initial penetration where the tattoos tattooed?
- 24:29Speaker 1: The tattoos came before the penetration.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Wait wait wait wait wait wait, So before you had
- 24:34Speaker 2: sex with your girl, you got her name tattooed on you. Yep,
- 24:39Speaker 2: and she got your name tattooed on her.
- 24:41Speaker 1: She got my initials.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Actually, you got the full name. So she had like
- 24:45Speaker 2: a nice out you're all. I mean it's small so
- 24:48Speaker 2: you could get it.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, well you know what, Like I was, we're
- 24:50Speaker 1: supposed to get the initials, but I was, I don't know,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I feel like if I get the initials kind of
- 24:54Speaker 1: gay like, And she was like, got to go get
- 24:57Speaker 1: the name. Like, as a guy, we're gonna be the decision.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I said, Okay, how about they you guys hadn't fucked yet. Yeah,
- 25:05Speaker 2: both of you tattooed. How how long from Hi? I'm
- 25:09Speaker 2: ken Hi? Whats your girls? Name? Starts with the T?
- 25:12Speaker 2: I C Talia Taliah, It's nice to meet you to
- 25:16Speaker 2: the tattoos? Was it was it a week? Was it
- 25:17Speaker 2: four days? Was it two weeks?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Man? Bro, there's like a Nicholas sparking story because I
- 25:22Speaker 1: had met her. Her homegirl was fucking my homie Renee
- 25:27Speaker 1: and oh shit, but anyway, it was a long time.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Ago, long time ago, yeah, yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But anyway, it was last year, the first time I
- 25:33Speaker 1: was in the first time I was in Austin around May.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Her homegirl came to see my boy, and I kind
- 25:40Speaker 1: of was just like the oh, well, you're like ages.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You know, there's the two man machine feel me. So anyway,
- 25:46Speaker 1: so I'm talking to O girl whatever, and we just
- 25:48Speaker 1: talked the whole night. But I'm trying to be cool,
- 25:50Speaker 1: so I keep buying drinks and shit, Like I'm buying
- 25:52Speaker 1: drinks and we're still on Sixth Street, so like people
- 25:56Speaker 1: are there from the show, so they're asking me for pictures.
- 25:58Speaker 1: She didn't even get to see my comedy because she
- 25:59Speaker 1: had to late, but she's seen the people take pictures
- 26:02Speaker 1: and shit. So I'm feeling like I'm on one. You know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm buying her drinks. I end up overdoing it. Bro
- 26:08Speaker 1: she ends up getting like fucked up. I ended up
- 26:10Speaker 1: getting fucked up. So we get into like a petty
- 26:12Speaker 1: cab those like bike cabs or whatever, and we went
- 26:15Speaker 1: to our Airbnb that was right there because her homegirl
- 26:17Speaker 1: was going with my boy. So we get to the
- 26:19Speaker 1: BnB and she's getting off the off the petty cab.
- 26:24Speaker 1: She busts her ship like she fell off. So I'm
- 26:27Speaker 1: picking her up and I got it like over my shoulder.
- 26:29Speaker 1: The dude just looking at me, like.
- 26:31Speaker 2: What's happening, dude?
- 26:32Speaker 1: Want to commit a crime like dolf of.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Mine to scroll?
- 26:36Speaker 1: She saying like she passed out bro right. So I'm like,
- 26:40Speaker 1: so I didn't realize I looked.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I was just like whatever, it looks real crapy, yeah right.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I was like, fuck my career, she hasn't even started yet.
- 26:47Speaker 1: So I ended up taking it too. The BnB, I
- 26:49Speaker 1: put her in my room actually, who was right in
- 26:51Speaker 1: the entrance, and I just, you know, I just I
- 26:54Speaker 1: was like all right, I closed the door. I went
- 26:56Speaker 1: and partied all night, knocked out. You know, I'm not
- 26:58Speaker 1: no weird shit or whatever. So from there, we finally
- 27:01Speaker 1: I found her on Instagram and I kind of just
- 27:03Speaker 1: clowned her a little bit, like damn, like you knocked
- 27:05Speaker 1: the hell out whatever, and we kind of kept talking.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I was like, well, I'll be back next time. Next time,
- 27:10Speaker 1: I'm back, like I'm gonna, uh, I'm gonna just bring
- 27:12Speaker 1: you with me to LA and I just kind of
- 27:14Speaker 1: I was like the running joker or whatever. Then I
- 27:16Speaker 1: did end up going back. I did a sold out
- 27:19Speaker 1: show in Austin at Catch City Comedy Club, and the
- 27:22Speaker 1: whole time like I'm performing, I'm killing it, but I'm
- 27:24Speaker 1: looking for her, you know, I'm like, I'm looking for
- 27:26Speaker 1: because she had like red hair at the time. And
- 27:28Speaker 1: then I end up finishing the show, I never find her.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I do the meet and greet, I don't see her.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Then I go look at my phone and she's like, yo,
- 27:35Speaker 1: they won't let me in, like I got here late.
- 27:37Speaker 1: So she missed my ship again. Bro missed my whole
- 27:40Speaker 1: show again, so she still hadn't seen me do comedy
- 27:43Speaker 1: and h But we kicked it that night after the show,
- 27:46Speaker 1: and from that night she was we just kicked it.
- 27:48Speaker 1: But she ended up like I said, she didn't. We
- 27:51Speaker 1: didn't even fuck before the tattoo. So she went home
- 27:55Speaker 1: and then she's like, if you push your flight back,
- 27:57Speaker 1: we'll hang out again tomorrow. So I'll push my flight back.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Then I was Friday. We kicked it again, so we
- 28:01Speaker 1: kicked it twice after we after I went back, and
- 28:04Speaker 1: then when I was gonna come back to LA, I
- 28:06Speaker 1: was like, fuck it, just come with me, and I
- 28:08Speaker 1: got her a ticket and she came and she never
- 28:11Speaker 1: went back.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Did you guys get the tattoo in La.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Night? One the reason I had to fly back to
- 28:19Speaker 1: La was because I had a spot at the comedy
- 28:21Speaker 1: store and I'm like barely trying to work my way
- 28:24Speaker 1: into the comedy store was one of the best stories
- 28:26Speaker 1: in the world, of course, so so so I was like,
- 28:28Speaker 1: I can't misto the spot, Like I gotta go back.
- 28:30Speaker 1: But I was like, if you come with me, like
- 28:32Speaker 1: I'll make sure I got enough time to pick you
- 28:33Speaker 1: up and then we'll go through the spa and then
- 28:35Speaker 1: i'll show you lay. So sure enough, I got there
- 28:37Speaker 1: first that morning, then she got there that afternoon. I
- 28:39Speaker 1: picked her up, went straight to the comedy store, rocked
- 28:42Speaker 1: my set. Then from there we went to the Boulevard
- 28:45Speaker 1: Hollywood Bulevard.
- 28:46Speaker 2: All the tattoo shops are open all night, yep.
- 28:48Speaker 1: And like I just said it as a joke, like
- 28:50Speaker 1: I'm like, I'll get your name ted and she's like
- 28:52Speaker 1: I would do it, and I was like hell no.
- 28:54Speaker 1: She's like yeah, I'll put I'll put your inities toxics.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Fuck yeah, I was for real. So we go to
- 29:02Speaker 1: the first tattoo shop, bro, and then at the first
- 29:05Speaker 1: tattoo shop. At the first tattoo shop, they're like, now
- 29:08Speaker 1: we're busy, like and I was like, oh, that's a sign,
- 29:10Speaker 1: like let's not do it. Let's not do it. And
- 29:12Speaker 1: then she's like, noah, there's another one right there. So
- 29:14Speaker 1: we had to walk all the way up there. And
- 29:16Speaker 1: then I was walking at the time. I had like
- 29:19Speaker 1: health issues and shit, so I was I ain't gonna
- 29:21Speaker 1: walk that far. So I got an uber and then
- 29:23Speaker 1: the uber we got like an suv because I'm trying
- 29:25Speaker 1: to like show off and I put on Blame Me
- 29:28Speaker 1: by o GZ and he's got a line in there
- 29:31Speaker 1: and he's like, uh somethingbout tying your name on me
- 29:34Speaker 1: or some ship. So she was like, oh, see it
- 29:36Speaker 1: is a sign we gotta do it.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Did you do that on purpose? Did you play that song?
- 29:41Speaker 1: Really? No? I just liked the song. But anyway, so
- 29:44Speaker 1: we walked in and sure enough, the dude had time.
- 29:46Speaker 1: So I was like, well, if you go first, and
- 29:47Speaker 1: I'll do it. If you go first and get my initials.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I'll do your whole name on my hand if you
- 29:53Speaker 1: go first, though, but I'm not going first. So she
- 29:55Speaker 1: did it. She laid down, put my initials on her
- 29:58Speaker 1: back ofver ear, and then I went and got this.
- 30:01Speaker 1: And it was a lot thinner because they know, like
- 30:04Speaker 1: you know, it's boulevard tattoos, like they're gonna regret this ship. Yeah,
- 30:07Speaker 1: so the tattoo was very thin. I feel like I
- 30:09Speaker 1: feel like I would have washed my hand enough times.
- 30:11Speaker 2: When it came out, it had already been gone.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So my dumb ass got drunk. Is fucking Saffron the
- 30:15Speaker 1: valley with the homies one time and one of them
- 30:17Speaker 1: is like practicing how to do tattoos and thiking my
- 30:20Speaker 1: ship up. Yeah, he thinking my ship up. My ship
- 30:22Speaker 1: was all swollen for a minute and now it looked
- 30:25Speaker 1: like a prison tab. But fucking had to go big
- 30:28Speaker 1: or go home.
- 30:28Speaker 2: So did The first was the I mean with the tattoos,
- 30:31Speaker 2: the first time you guys have in text or so much,
- 30:33Speaker 2: it's like it's like it's like the detox, Like it's
- 30:35Speaker 2: like so much anticipation.
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it wasn't that. It wasn't nah, man, we
- 30:40Speaker 1: were drunk as fuck. We knocked out halfway through it.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We didn't even finish, I swear god. We both passed
- 30:46Speaker 1: the work out, woke up pants around our ankles, and ship. Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 1: It wasn't good, but we made up for it.
- 30:53Speaker 2: And she's still with you.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, we had broken up for like a month.
- 30:57Speaker 2: Bro. She went back home.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, you went back home. We just got into
- 31:01Speaker 1: it one time because they pulled a gun on us
- 31:03Speaker 1: in Raleigh, North Carolina, and and she was like, I
- 31:07Speaker 1: don't care why you ain't taxt me all day. I'm like,
- 31:09Speaker 1: they pulled the gun on us. So we got into
- 31:12Speaker 1: a big argument. But but anyway, we got back together.
- 31:16Speaker 2: To you, man, that's I wish you luck. Yeah.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Now it's cool. I'm telling you, bro, she saved my life.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I was I was doing. I was. I was like
- 31:24Speaker 1: I was in La by myself, you know, when I
- 31:25Speaker 1: moved out here. Me and they were supposed to get
- 31:28Speaker 1: a place together, but he actually had got with his wife.
- 31:30Speaker 1: So obviously I'm not working man, I'm your roommate, you know.
- 31:33Speaker 1: So I was like, all right, now it was cool, man.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Let me. I was runting a room for my uncle
- 31:36Speaker 1: and sian Fernando Valley and then when I got my apartment,
- 31:40Speaker 1: I was by myself, so I would just be drinking
- 31:42Speaker 1: the whole time, getting fuck the cold, getting faded, and
- 31:46Speaker 1: it was just like I was just going to like
- 31:48Speaker 1: spiral out of control.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Sounds like somebody.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I ended up going to the hospital. It was bad.
- 31:54Speaker 1: It was bad.
- 31:55Speaker 2: You were a fucking on one, yeah, Bro, it was.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I didn't give my body a break. I'll
- 31:59Speaker 1: go to the hospital for cocaine and then I'll come
- 32:01Speaker 1: down from the cocaine, but then I'll eat a whole
- 32:03Speaker 1: pizza so that my heart would be like having to
- 32:05Speaker 1: digestive pizza. Like it was just I was just killing.
- 32:08Speaker 2: My wasting away, committing slow suicide in an apartment in
- 32:11Speaker 2: the valley.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I was on my Chris Farley, Shit, I ain't gonna lie, bro.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But yeah, now that she's there, you know, it's not
- 32:16Speaker 1: even like just having somebody in the apartment.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It kind of keeps you in chest, somebody that can
- 32:20Speaker 2: give you, hold you accountable exactly.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I'm not gonna eat the who pizza because
- 32:23Speaker 1: she right here.
- 32:24Speaker 2: You know, have you cut down on the cocaine use?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent, I mean not one hundred percent.
- 32:29Speaker 1: That would be a lie. But yes, a lot, but
- 32:31Speaker 1: a lot.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the only thing is like there was those
- 32:34Speaker 2: comedians who uh it was it last year? There was
- 32:37Speaker 2: like two or three of them that died.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 32:40Speaker 2: I don't remember in LA I forget. I don't want to,
- 32:42Speaker 2: you know, obviously I don't. I don't remember their names.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But yeah, that ship that it was crazy.
- 32:45Speaker 1: Yeah man, that ship does you.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Never know what you're fucking putting up your nose, dude.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Like that's the thing that sucks about doing drugs in
- 32:50Speaker 2: twenty twenty four is that shits is cut.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Yeah, man, But you know the crazy thing is too,
- 32:56Speaker 1: Like I'm not sure if you ever that, but like
- 32:57Speaker 1: that like that. But the thing is, like I canna
- 33:00Speaker 1: say that right now because I'm sober, like right now,
- 33:02Speaker 1: I'm sober at this moment, Like I'm sober this week.
- 33:05Speaker 1: But uh, I'll be like, yeah, man, I could tell
- 33:08Speaker 1: you I can sit right here and bullshit be like, yeah,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I ain't never know what they put in there, but
- 33:11Speaker 1: if I get four beers in me, bro, I won't
- 33:14Speaker 1: give a fuck you feel me, like, like, just give
- 33:17Speaker 1: me that ship, like what you got, We'll figure it. Out, yeah,
- 33:19Speaker 1: like it doesn't matter, like fucking you feeling like like
- 33:24Speaker 1: it's so crazy how fast the mind.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Changes changes and not just with that decision.
- 33:29Speaker 1: It could be like with like cheating on your wife,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and it could be anything.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you'd be like, oh shit, I was in the moment.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Fuck yeah.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Yeah. People kill people like that, you know, like oh
- 33:39Speaker 1: I saw red and you know or whatever.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Eveen like getting into a car, Like we had a
- 33:43Speaker 2: homemad of ours who went on a sick ass bender
- 33:45Speaker 2: last week and this fool was like black the fuck
- 33:48Speaker 2: out and got all like emotional, jumped in his car,
- 33:51Speaker 2: drove to Runyon Canyon and went for a fucking hike
- 33:54Speaker 2: at like eleven pm at night. Fell fucked himself up, survived,
- 34:00Speaker 2: thank god, but I was like, bro, I talked to
- 34:04Speaker 2: him the next day. I was like, bro, you could
- 34:05Speaker 2: have died, Like you couldn't killed somebody dog Like he
- 34:09Speaker 2: was like blacked out, Like why would you go to hike?
- 34:11Speaker 1: And the pitch black Like, but why would you go
- 34:14Speaker 1: to hike at all?
- 34:16Speaker 2: You should probably you try going to hike, So talk
- 34:22Speaker 2: to me, like for you, like obviously, I feel like
- 34:25Speaker 2: comedy is like you know, it's like with anything, you know,
- 34:28Speaker 2: like DJing, wrapping. With technology, it's made it a lot
- 34:33Speaker 2: easier for people to label themselves as something that they
- 34:36Speaker 2: might not necessarily fully respect or be. Does that make sense?
- 34:41Speaker 2: Like I've been seeing so many people pop up doing
- 34:43Speaker 2: like quote unquote comedy and they well, I could put
- 34:47Speaker 2: a reel up, I could put an Instagram clip up
- 34:49Speaker 2: or whatever. For you, Like, is it when you blow
- 34:53Speaker 2: up on the internet? Is it harder to get like
- 34:57Speaker 2: peer respects when it comes to like some of these guys,
- 35:00Speaker 2: has it been doing it for like twenty years? Do
- 35:01Speaker 2: they look at you a little different or do you
- 35:03Speaker 2: think that that has kind of like passed because I
- 35:05Speaker 2: feel like there was a time or that was a thing.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what, bro, I think that right now
- 35:10Speaker 1: we live in a time where people are like the
- 35:12Speaker 1: Internet has made a soul self centered. We only think
- 35:16Speaker 1: about ourselves right as comedians. We comedians are people that
- 35:20Speaker 1: need reassurance. We need instant gratification. That's why we do
- 35:24Speaker 1: what we do. And whether it was because of trauma
- 35:27Speaker 1: or whatever the fuck it is, you need that validation,
- 35:30Speaker 1: you know. And I feel like back then, you weren't
- 35:33Speaker 1: on the internet all day, so all you have to
- 35:35Speaker 1: do is look at other motherfuckers when you wasn't looking
- 35:37Speaker 1: at yourself. So yeah, there would be more peer I
- 35:40Speaker 1: guess peer comments or you know, it'd be other people
- 35:44Speaker 1: will talk about you more than anything. Nowadays, we live
- 35:46Speaker 1: in a time where people are more like they respect
- 35:49Speaker 1: art more and they realize like everybody's a little bit different,
- 35:52Speaker 1: So we're not gonna talk shit about it, you know,
- 35:54Speaker 1: and if they do, it's not gonna be as I.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Would just say it, like, yo, funny, it's funny. I
- 35:58Speaker 2: don't care if it's a skit. I don't care if
- 35:59Speaker 2: it's the stand up. If I laugh, I laugh, like.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but but but yeah, like right now, we don't,
- 36:04Speaker 1: I mean, And then me, it's like I definitely don't
- 36:06Speaker 1: give a fuck because it's like shit, I'm making money,
- 36:08Speaker 1: I'm selling tickets, like my life.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Was life shame.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I had my car repossessed, I got kicked out of
- 36:13Speaker 1: my house, like I was doing drugs, like I was
- 36:16Speaker 1: in the hospital about to die from heart failure, like like, bro,
- 36:18Speaker 1: I'm not even supposed to be here now. Like so
- 36:20Speaker 1: being the fact that I'm able to go to Reno
- 36:22Speaker 1: and do six shows Denver, Detroit and have a whole tour. Yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm already. I live in l A. Like I used
- 36:28Speaker 1: to come out here broken ship. I used to save
- 36:29Speaker 1: up five hundred dollars, used to come out here and
- 36:31Speaker 1: sleep on my uncle's couch and just like look at
- 36:34Speaker 1: like the houses down my hole and drive and shit.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Now should I live out here? You know? I live
- 36:38Speaker 1: right over the hill. I work the clothes that like
- 36:40Speaker 1: the Club of my dreams, Hollywood. Uh, you know, the
- 36:43Speaker 1: comedy Store, the improv.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Hot like like for people. I don't think people understand,
- 36:47Speaker 2: like the how legendary the comedy Store is. So are
- 36:51Speaker 2: you like a regular there now?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Like I'm not a regular, but I am in the
- 36:53Speaker 1: development programmers what they call it. So basically you just go,
- 36:57Speaker 1: do you do your spots as they give you spots,
- 36:59Speaker 1: and eventually, you know, once you I'm not sure there's
- 37:01Speaker 1: like a chart or of how many you gotta do
- 37:04Speaker 1: or what you gotta do, but eventually they make you
- 37:06Speaker 1: paid regular. Your name goes on the wall, which to me,
- 37:08Speaker 1: I was a comedy nerd before I was a comic anyway,
- 37:11Speaker 1: So just to have that on there it does mean
- 37:14Speaker 1: a lot to me.
- 37:14Speaker 2: So that's a big deal. Yeah, it's such a big deal,
- 37:17Speaker 2: and I feel like it's such a cool place just
- 37:18Speaker 2: to hang out in network.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I mean I'm still one of those guys
- 37:22Speaker 1: like every time I walk into any of these comedy
- 37:24Speaker 1: clubs here, like I take it in, you know, and
- 37:26Speaker 1: I still get stars strict. I don't give I'll ask
- 37:28Speaker 1: a comedian for a picture. I give, like because I'm like, dude,
- 37:30Speaker 1: I could not be here tomorrow. You feel like I'm
- 37:33Speaker 1: a fan of the funk out. I don't give a ship.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Who's your who's your like Mount Rushmore, who's your favorites
- 37:37Speaker 2: all time?
- 37:38Speaker 1: I mean of all time that are alive, the dead
- 37:40Speaker 1: or live Patrise O'Neil, Patrise O'Neil, Cat Williams Chronicles Part
- 37:45Speaker 1: one like Earlie Cat Williams. Yeah, banger Philippe Sparsa I
- 37:49Speaker 1: I I you know, I'm definitely influenced by him a lot.
- 37:54Speaker 1: I mean, Reneve, I can change my life. So that's
- 37:57Speaker 1: for right there, my Rushmore.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Yeah, shout out to uh. I feel like Patresea O'Neills
- 38:01Speaker 2: one of the more influential guys nowadays, Like how crazy
- 38:04Speaker 2: how big would he be right now? Like with the Internet.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Oh, he's I mean shit, he would be the biggest
- 38:09Speaker 1: because because he would be like he's like the father
- 38:11Speaker 1: I guess of like what the Shane Gillis is now, right,
- 38:13Speaker 1: you know, because he's like the guy of being himself
- 38:15Speaker 1: and that's something that I aspire to be. That's why
- 38:17Speaker 1: I like Shane Gillis is fucking hilarious, one of my favorites,
- 38:20Speaker 1: you know. But yeah, you know, it's about being yourself
- 38:22Speaker 1: and that's what I want. Like, I never want to
- 38:23Speaker 1: have to go on stage and pretend. I never want
- 38:25Speaker 1: to have to turn it on. I want to be myself.
- 38:28Speaker 1: And I feel like Patrisa's that person. And Philippe was
- 38:31Speaker 1: the first person to talk about, like I feel like
- 38:33Speaker 1: dark stuff on stage as a Mexican, you know, because
- 38:36Speaker 1: most Latinos were just doing like Mexican moms be like
- 38:39Speaker 1: you know, you can hear with the Chandola. Philippe was
- 38:41Speaker 1: ok there talking about I was addicted to cocaine, you know,
- 38:43Speaker 1: so that also like inspired me a lot related Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 38:47Speaker 1: but that's that's that's what I like.
- 38:48Speaker 2: That's fire man. Have you been working on a YouTube
- 38:52Speaker 2: special or anything like that?
- 38:54Speaker 1: No? Not.
- 38:55Speaker 2: That kind of feels like the you know the new
- 38:58Speaker 2: thing guys are doing, dropping you specials.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well the thing is right now again with the whole,
- 39:04Speaker 1: with the whole jumping getting in the game and like
- 39:06Speaker 1: kind of getting catapulted into headlining and touring the country.
- 39:11Speaker 1: It's not that's not the normal pass exactly. So I
- 39:13Speaker 1: don't have years of material that I've been working, right,
- 39:17Speaker 1: I was barely You're like, yo, I gotta get through
- 39:19Speaker 1: next weekend, right. I was developing my Hour as all
- 39:23Speaker 1: this happened. So I'm still doing my Hour. I'm touring
- 39:25Speaker 1: a lot of these places for the first time, so
- 39:28Speaker 1: I'm barely using that material. So I don't want to
- 39:30Speaker 1: have to like put it out already because I still
- 39:32Speaker 1: got like a year left of tours.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Right, Like, I can't be out everywhere. I need people
- 39:35Speaker 2: to be able to come and see that hour, and
- 39:37Speaker 2: I'd be like the first time.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and I and I am writing on the road
- 39:41Speaker 1: and putting stuff to the side and everything. Now that
- 39:43Speaker 1: I know that it's it's it came so fast, and
- 39:45Speaker 1: I gotta be ready because obviously I still got to
- 39:47Speaker 1: eat next year, so I still got a tour, so
- 39:49Speaker 1: a lot of these cities I'm gonna go back to
- 39:50Speaker 1: and I can't go back with the same shit exactly.
- 39:53Speaker 1: So I am I am trying. It is a little
- 39:54Speaker 1: bit more pressure on me now, but but it keeps
- 39:57Speaker 1: my pen hot. You feel me, and I don't get
- 39:59Speaker 1: to be lazy. How do you write?
- 40:00Speaker 2: Like when you have an idea, you're writing it down?
- 40:02Speaker 2: Is it in your notes?
- 40:03Speaker 1: Like? How do you the good The good thing about
- 40:05Speaker 1: headlining is that you get like an hour to perform.
- 40:08Speaker 1: So in that hour, you're not gonna You're not gonna
- 40:10Speaker 1: just do. There's gonna be especially like somebody who just
- 40:13Speaker 1: started like me, you might have a different cadence one
- 40:16Speaker 1: day where you're like, oh shit, I got an extra
- 40:17Speaker 1: five minutes with the try some shit out, yeah, or
- 40:19Speaker 1: I forgot some shit so yeah. I Usually I usually
- 40:22Speaker 1: try to do all the new stuff up top, just
- 40:24Speaker 1: to kind of see if I can get something, or
- 40:27Speaker 1: usually i'll do local stuff first, which is new stuff
- 40:30Speaker 1: because I just learned that in the city as I
- 40:32Speaker 1: got there that day. But I'll do that and if
- 40:34Speaker 1: it's working, then I'll throw in some new ship and
- 40:36Speaker 1: then I'll go into my and if the new shit
- 40:38Speaker 1: don't work, then I'll go into my material, which I
- 40:39Speaker 1: know is gonna work, you know, so I always try
- 40:42Speaker 1: to hide it in the middle somewhere or or towards
- 40:45Speaker 1: the beginning, right before I know I'm gonna have a
- 40:47Speaker 1: good one right after that. But yeah, yeah, I use
- 40:50Speaker 1: That's how I kind of write on stage. As far
- 40:53Speaker 1: as like not being on stage, I don't sit down
- 40:56Speaker 1: and write anymore, just because I don't even I don't
- 40:59Speaker 1: even think I got pens was at home, to be
- 41:00Speaker 1: honest with you. But I just usually write and bullet
- 41:03Speaker 1: points in my iPhone notes and then I'll go on
- 41:05Speaker 1: stage and I'll.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Work work through it. That's fire. What was it like
- 41:09Speaker 2: doing the shots to the Coyote Boys. They did a
- 41:12Speaker 2: video with Mario Lopez that you were in, which just crazy.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Man, it was crazy to me. Like, I mean,
- 41:19Speaker 1: obviously shout out at the homies and Coyotes are the homies.
- 41:21Speaker 1: That's why we did it. Yeah, just seeing Mario Opez
- 41:24Speaker 1: was like what the fuck because he's like it was
- 41:26Speaker 1: like his ageless yeah, first of all, and then it
- 41:28Speaker 1: was just kind of like it's such a random ass person,
- 41:31Speaker 1: like to me, like super Ran because like it's like
- 41:33Speaker 1: Mario rap video. Yeah, like because I know he's from
- 41:37Speaker 1: here cally, so you get more love, more people know him.
- 41:40Speaker 1: But over there back home, I just remember like the
- 41:42Speaker 1: people used to watch the Baby sent me upstairs. They
- 41:45Speaker 1: saved by the bell Slater, you know. So then like
- 41:47Speaker 1: seeing him, I was like, what the hell like And
- 41:49Speaker 1: it's crazy because like he is a celebrities famous, but
- 41:52Speaker 1: it's just like you're the guy from like the TV
- 41:54Speaker 1: guy you feeling like like.
- 41:56Speaker 2: But he's cool for the gas station.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's everywhere. It's funny now because like every
- 42:01Speaker 1: time I go into a hotel room, he's there, and like,
- 42:03Speaker 1: my girl, I'm like, oh, that's my homeboy, you know,
- 42:06Speaker 1: I know he likes all my ship now. But he's
- 42:08Speaker 1: the coolest bro. Shout out to Mario Lopez.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Real motherfucker whatever he'd be eating and drinking. Everybody should
- 42:14Speaker 2: practice because he's not aged.
- 42:15Speaker 1: Bro, that motherfucker. It just like for real, yeah, bro,
- 42:18Speaker 1: literally he's Mexican for real, for real. But yeah, that
- 42:21Speaker 1: was It was insane, man. But I just realized that
- 42:24Speaker 1: I don't think I could ever be an actor. Bro.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I had like a fucking a three second scene and
- 42:30Speaker 1: it took us like maybe like forty minutes an hour
- 42:33Speaker 1: to film because they got to get like every angle.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I was so goddamn like tired of that shit.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I were like, yeah enough. I was like, man, how
- 42:39Speaker 2: many times we gotta do this shit?
- 42:40Speaker 1: Like do it one more time and then do it
- 42:42Speaker 1: one more time? And I was just like, what the
- 42:44Speaker 1: fuck am I doing it? Right? I never really done
- 42:47Speaker 1: it before. I remember one time I got hired to
- 42:49Speaker 1: be in a movie and they stay emailed me the
- 42:52Speaker 1: script six months prior to the first table reading. I
- 42:55Speaker 1: printed it out the first day of the table read.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I never looked at that moment, not once, not one time.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Then I went to the table reading. I thought we
- 43:02Speaker 1: were gonna read it, but obviously everybody had.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Everybody already memorized their ship.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Everybody shit was highlighted.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I was like, what the fuck, You're like, hold on
- 43:08Speaker 2: where we Atah?
- 43:09Speaker 1: Yeah, And then at the table reading, they were like, yeah,
- 43:11Speaker 1: you're done.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, this isn't gonna work.
- 43:13Speaker 1: It's not gonna work for you. So I got fired.
- 43:15Speaker 1: So from there I was like fuck acting. And then
- 43:17Speaker 1: I actually did it for the music video and then
- 43:19Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, I don't think I like this
- 43:21Speaker 1: ship at all. I feel like it's like having a job.
- 43:23Speaker 1: All over again. And that's why I do comedy, so
- 43:25Speaker 1: I don't have a job.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Tell me, Uh, obviously, it could be cocaine, it could
- 43:30Speaker 2: be shrooms, it could be edible. What's the highest you've
- 43:32Speaker 2: ever been in your life? Highest where you were just
- 43:35Speaker 2: like fucking ship bro, whether you were tripping balls or
- 43:40Speaker 2: you thought you were gonna die.
- 43:42Speaker 1: I mean, I've told this story on a few podcasts already.
- 43:44Speaker 1: I could do that one, or I could do a
- 43:45Speaker 1: different one.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Give me a new one, a new one.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Man. I remember one time I used to do my
- 43:49Speaker 1: own podcasts and uh before you know, before going on
- 43:52Speaker 1: the road or whatever, and I was doing a podcast
- 43:54Speaker 1: and I was interviewing some young kids who had like
- 43:56Speaker 1: a Mexican musician band locals or whatever. And the whole time,
- 44:00Speaker 1: I'm just doing coke, like I got an eight ball
- 44:02Speaker 1: on me. And every time the camera's you know, obviously
- 44:04Speaker 1: we got the producer, so when they're talking, I know
- 44:07Speaker 1: the camera is gonna pan that way, so I'm just
- 44:09Speaker 1: doing fat bumps. And throughout the whole interview, the whole interview,
- 44:14Speaker 1: I damn near finished, like the whole ball throughout the enemy.
- 44:17Speaker 1: It was like forty minutes by the way they were.
- 44:19Speaker 2: They looking at you like you were crazy.
- 44:20Speaker 1: Yeah, these kids were like I mean at the time,
- 44:22Speaker 1: I was probably like twenty five, I'm twenty eight now
- 44:25Speaker 1: they're probably like eighteen. So they're just looking at me
- 44:29Speaker 1: because it's funny because they brought they brought me a gift.
- 44:32Speaker 1: They brought me like a tequila bottle, and they brought
- 44:34Speaker 1: me two cigars or two cigars, and I like, they're
- 44:37Speaker 1: smoking cigars, like you can tell they're just like fighting
- 44:40Speaker 1: for their life smoking this fucking cigar, and I'm just like,
- 44:43Speaker 1: coke the fuck out on my mind. So yeah, it
- 44:45Speaker 1: was just like an awkward ass internet shit on YouTube.
- 44:47Speaker 1: It is, bro, Yeah, I sure got to be on
- 44:50Speaker 1: YouTube somewhere.
- 44:51Speaker 2: That's it's hilarious.
- 44:52Speaker 1: And then like at one point they're telling me like
- 44:56Speaker 1: oh yeah man, but as far as music or motivation,
- 44:59Speaker 1: I think or something that's more, I was like, all right,
- 45:01Speaker 1: that's enough, thank you guys for coming to the podcast.
- 45:04Speaker 1: I just cut him off, had them. I cut him
- 45:06Speaker 1: off halfway through the dam podcast. I was like, all right, bro,
- 45:09Speaker 1: thank you, thank you, thank you. I kicked them the
- 45:11Speaker 1: funk out because I wanted to keep drinking. I didn't
- 45:12Speaker 1: want to talk anymore. I kept drinking and I kept
- 45:16Speaker 1: geeking after they left. And then I used to live
- 45:20Speaker 1: in the apartment that was first floor apartment, and it
- 45:23Speaker 1: had a sliding door in the back, but right behind
- 45:25Speaker 1: it was a train track, so the train would just
- 45:28Speaker 1: That's why I ran with Cheapers Hill because was just
- 45:29Speaker 1: the fucking train was just zoomed by, and it was
- 45:32Speaker 1: just like every night, every night. So so my homeboy,
- 45:37Speaker 1: my roommate, he's knocked out on the couch in the
- 45:39Speaker 1: living room and I'm in my room. I'm just like
- 45:41Speaker 1: trying to come down from like this fucking like I'm
- 45:43Speaker 1: like sweating and shit, like I'm trying to write jokes
- 45:46Speaker 1: but like I can't, but I'm just not like I'm
- 45:49Speaker 1: just not like still, you know. So at this point,
- 45:53Speaker 1: I'm just like, ah, something's wrong, Like something is wrong
- 45:55Speaker 1: with me, something's wrong with me, Like I don't know, man,
- 45:58Speaker 1: Like I don't know. I started like my fingers are
- 46:00Speaker 1: like gang banging and ship like I'm looking like my
- 46:01Speaker 1: homie Lefty gun planes sh Bro. I tell said, oh, bro,
- 46:05Speaker 1: fucking me, So I'm looking all so but I never,
- 46:09Speaker 1: like I never I've done like I had done coke
- 46:12Speaker 1: a long time already from that point, but I had
- 46:15Speaker 1: never like I think I had never done it in
- 46:17Speaker 1: that short period of time that much. And that ship
- 46:19Speaker 1: was strong as fuck. It was like something butter shout
- 46:21Speaker 1: out to the blood almost killed my ass. But that's
- 46:24Speaker 1: so we end up doing. I ended up doing all
- 46:26Speaker 1: this ship. Then I start getting like a brain freeze.
- 46:30Speaker 1: So I'm like, oh, ship, Like I'm cold, but I'm hot.
- 46:33Speaker 1: But I also got like a brain freeze. So I
- 46:35Speaker 1: started looking ship up and it's like, oh, you're like
- 46:38Speaker 1: like a heart attack, like overdosing. Like so it's like
- 46:40Speaker 1: the worst ship ever.
- 46:41Speaker 2: So you were like borderline overdosing.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah, bro. So then I'm tweaking the fuck out. So
- 46:46Speaker 1: I go to the back into the sliding door ship
- 46:48Speaker 1: and I pop open the door. We got the wooden stick,
- 46:50Speaker 1: you know, take that ship out, open the sign door
- 46:53Speaker 1: we go. I go to the back and the wind
- 46:55Speaker 1: hits me. So I'm just like I start coming down.
- 46:58Speaker 1: I start coming down. I start coming down. Bro, I
- 47:00Speaker 1: don't know where the bitch ass trained. Bro, my heart
- 47:04Speaker 1: just started it went crazy again. So it gets to
- 47:07Speaker 1: a point where I'm just kind of like like this
- 47:10Speaker 1: is ship, Like zombie mode and the neighbor from next door,
- 47:13Speaker 1: he was in his balcony upstairs and he's like, hey,
- 47:15Speaker 1: like you all right here, and I'm just looking at
- 47:17Speaker 1: him like this like I'm on thriller and he ends
- 47:23Speaker 1: up sucking. Uh, He's just looking at me, right, But
- 47:25Speaker 1: he don't like we hate each other because we bullshit
- 47:29Speaker 1: like throwing the treasures at each other or whatever. But
- 47:32Speaker 1: so he was just kind of like damn, he about
- 47:34Speaker 1: to go, you know. So I go back in the house.
- 47:36Speaker 1: I close the door. Then I locked myself in the bathroom.
- 47:38Speaker 1: I just turned the water on. Bro. I didn't get
- 47:41Speaker 1: in the water. I just wanted to like hear it,
- 47:43Speaker 1: like hear something, you know, like something peaceful. And I
- 47:46Speaker 1: just like I was like I just put my hand
- 47:47Speaker 1: on the wall, like like I was like this is bro,
- 47:50Speaker 1: like on the wall. I think about it. I was like, damn,
- 47:53Speaker 1: bro the wrong with me? But from there, I ended
- 47:58Speaker 1: up going into my bedroom. I take off my shirt
- 48:02Speaker 1: and I was like like it just it wouldn't stop,
- 48:05Speaker 1: you know, like shit was just tweaking. And my dumb
- 48:08Speaker 1: mass thought that if I had a bong rip, bring
- 48:11Speaker 1: me down. So I hit a bong rip that shit
- 48:14Speaker 1: just made me more paranoid. So now I'm paranoid. My
- 48:18Speaker 1: heart's beating, like bro I made up on the downers. Yeah,
- 48:22Speaker 1: I was like, should I call try to go to
- 48:23Speaker 1: the hospital. I should I wake up my roommate because
- 48:26Speaker 1: my roommate, by the way, the whole time, he's passed out,
- 48:28Speaker 1: and I'm mad as hill because I want to wake
- 48:30Speaker 1: him up, like bitch, help me out. But at the
- 48:31Speaker 1: same time, I'm like, what the fun I'm gonna do
- 48:33Speaker 1: any of them? Yeah? What you gonna do? So so
- 48:36Speaker 1: I never wake them up, And then I'm just like,
- 48:38Speaker 1: should I just called nine one one? Should I call
- 48:40Speaker 1: n W one? But I was like, hell not, because
- 48:41Speaker 1: then my mom is gonna find out they're gonna call her.
- 48:44Speaker 1: She does go to the hospital, she don't find out
- 48:46Speaker 1: I've been doing all these drugs. Like I was like, fuck,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I'd rather die, and I was I'd rather I rather
- 48:50Speaker 1: overdose it. I rather have them to find my body
- 48:52Speaker 1: before my mom. I have to face my mom about
- 48:54Speaker 1: this ship.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Does your mom watched podcast that you're on?
- 48:56Speaker 1: Now? She knows? Now? She knows now I can't cleaned
- 49:00Speaker 1: about a lot of shit. But so then from there,
- 49:02Speaker 1: I was like, fuck that. So I fixed my bed.
- 49:05Speaker 1: I put a whole bunch of pillows like I was.
- 49:07Speaker 1: I kind of cleaned my room up a little bit
- 49:08Speaker 1: because I was like, you know, they're gonna find me here.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I got pistols and cups and ship. I got a
- 49:13Speaker 1: ship around. Like, shit was horrible.
- 49:15Speaker 2: You were pissing the cups next to the bed.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Yeah, because sometimes my roommate wul take forever in the bedroom.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Oh ship, sick ass fool.
- 49:21Speaker 1: I was depressed, man.
- 49:23Speaker 2: Yeah you ever actually spilled a couple of piss?
- 49:26Speaker 1: Man? Yeah, that shit sucked.
- 49:28Speaker 2: I remember I had to piss in a bottle while
- 49:30Speaker 2: driving once and that was rough because I'm driving and
- 49:35Speaker 2: then like I think my first squirt went out and
- 49:38Speaker 2: like hit the steer wheel on my hand.
- 49:39Speaker 1: I was like, oh, bro, fuck that, bro, I fucking
- 49:43Speaker 1: shipped myself trying to piss in a bottle in the car. Yeah,
- 49:47Speaker 1: loose ass booty. But pause on that, pause on that.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Whoa blood thinners? I'm blood thinners.
- 49:53Speaker 2: But anyway, yo, you got to get your health together.
- 49:55Speaker 1: No, I'm doing it now. I'm on the way.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Now are you working out?
- 49:59Speaker 1: I mean nah, just go for walks. Yeah, that's what
- 50:02Speaker 1: I started doing now, go for like an hour walk
- 50:04Speaker 1: every day. Hell yeah, I started doing.
- 50:05Speaker 2: What about food?
- 50:06Speaker 1: Are you like? Yeah, I definitely eat a lot less.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I'm on the right medication, less on the drugs drinking.
- 50:11Speaker 2: That's good.
- 50:11Speaker 1: So it's going, it's going really well. I'm doing a
- 50:13Speaker 1: lot better than I was before you got you got
- 50:16Speaker 1: a lot to lose, bro, Hell yeah, now, but you
- 50:18Speaker 1: know what I ended up like Chris Farley, Yeah, I know.
- 50:21Speaker 1: So I had done my bed, I was ready to die,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and I put on your Mom's House podcast Times of Girl,
- 50:26Speaker 1: and I was like my comfort show and I put
- 50:28Speaker 1: it on and I was just like, well fuck it,
- 50:30Speaker 1: like I'm gonna lay right here and we'll see what happens.
- 50:33Speaker 1: And I just closed my eyes, bro, And I don't
- 50:35Speaker 1: know how.
- 50:36Speaker 2: I don't know how.
- 50:37Speaker 1: I think I was so in shock that I'm knocked
- 50:40Speaker 1: out because I was so coked up, Like people like,
- 50:42Speaker 1: how did you go to sleep? Though? And I still
- 50:45Speaker 1: don't know how to explain to myself. I don't know
- 50:46Speaker 1: because I would never I'm one of those guys where
- 50:48Speaker 1: if I do it, I'm not going to sleep that night.
- 50:50Speaker 1: So I don't know how I did it. But I
- 50:51Speaker 1: knocked the funk out. I think it might have been
- 50:53Speaker 1: the bunk hit. It just overpowered to coke and eventually
- 50:56Speaker 1: I passed out and I woke up the next day.
- 50:58Speaker 1: The sun was beaming in my fucking face and my
- 51:02Speaker 1: arm hurt. I just remember my arm like hurting like
- 51:04Speaker 1: a ship, a little like like somebody just punched me.
- 51:06Speaker 1: All of them shit. But it was just like I
- 51:08Speaker 1: think all the stress I was doing heart, all the
- 51:10Speaker 1: stress that was on it and ship. Bro, I fucking
- 51:13Speaker 1: took a shot. I went to work. That was it.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Have you met Tom Sigor yet?
- 51:17Speaker 1: I've never met him, Bro, I was you got to
- 51:19Speaker 1: tell him?
- 51:20Speaker 2: Hey, you know, I thought I was in an overdose
- 51:21Speaker 2: and I put your podcast on.
- 51:23Speaker 1: I don't know, can be like, oh yeah, he probably
- 51:25Speaker 1: like it though.
- 51:26Speaker 2: Is he he's done stand ups in full Spanish? Is
- 51:28Speaker 2: he Mexican or what?
- 51:29Speaker 1: Is he's half Peruvian?
- 51:32Speaker 2: Okay? Yeah, because I know he's done like Spanish versions
- 51:35Speaker 2: of his specials.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, he's well, he's working on I think he's
- 51:39Speaker 1: got a Netflix deal for one right now. I think
- 51:41Speaker 1: he's recorded it yet, but he's already done shows in Spanish.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But I think, uh so he's half Peruvian, so his
- 51:47Speaker 1: mom spoke Spanish, but he also went to school abroad
- 51:50Speaker 1: in Spain, so he learned his Spanish is kind of
- 51:52Speaker 1: like spainiard it's proper. Yeah, it's real proper Spanish. But
- 51:55Speaker 1: I mean it's pretty cool.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Sing I'm gonna do a lingo yeah, day eighteen.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Eighteen for Spanish.
- 52:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Man, in l A, you definitely need like, it's definitely
- 52:04Speaker 1: a w Well.
- 52:05Speaker 2: You know, my wife's Mexican, so I needed just to
- 52:08Speaker 2: she speaks English. But but you know, like I fucking
- 52:12Speaker 2: I go to Tijuana for my dentists and ship and
- 52:14Speaker 2: Denna's yeah, the Dennis and they gave great food.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Dog okay, Chinese in Hong Kong out there.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Never, I don't even know.
- 52:23Speaker 1: What that is. You know that you said never before
- 52:27Speaker 1: he said, I don't know what that is.
- 52:29Speaker 2: I have to brothel Hong Kong. Yeah, is that like
- 52:32Speaker 2: a never heard of Hong Kong in China?
- 52:34Speaker 1: No? No, no, in Tijuana. No, Hong Kong is a brothel.
- 52:38Speaker 1: It's very famous.
