- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Well, good morning and happy Easter.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Happy Easter.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: We've got something special for you this morning.
- 0:17SPEAKER_01: Um, this is our 2020 Easter, and it's very different, isn't it?
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: We can't get together and fill our churches up like normal.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: So we brought our Easter sunrise uh message to you.
- 0:29SPEAKER_01: We got up really early to speak this message to you.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Um I think it's something very important and very empowering, and and uh we wanted to give that to you.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Uh I think it's it's important, especially during this time, such a weird time.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, right.
- 0:45SPEAKER_01: But uh, you know, everybody's in the same boat, and uh this message is good for dealing with stuff like that.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do think it is a a great message for all of us because right now we're in the midst of something that brings us together as humans.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You know, uh really when we're facing a pandemic, it's neither you know, rich or poor, or black or white, or male or female.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: It's just we're humans and we're dealing with something pretty pretty big, right?
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Accentuates that we're uh we're really in the same boat, you know, uh overall.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: And uh we don't have to do this ourselves.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: And Easter is such a great reminder of of new life and and really who is our life.
- 1:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the thing, and that's what the message is about, is that we don't have to we we don't have a do-it-yourself life anymore.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we have a new life.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: I think when you think you have a do-it-yourself life, that's when you have a lot of anxiety or fear concern, you know, especially about what we're dealing with today, you know, in this day and age.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: But but uh because you're out of control for the most part.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: We always have been, it's just we don't feel like fear.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: They can try to try to control their life.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: That's the do-it-yourself thing.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: And so that's what that's what we talk about in the message.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: So we hope you like it.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: We love you.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: We uh happy resurrection day.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah, enjoy your heaven on earth with Jesus.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: So good resurrection morning.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: This is our sunrise service coming right to you in your home, so you can be locked down or whatever we're calling this thing.
- 2:40SPEAKER_01: But um we're sitting here in a beautiful setting, and we've set up to catch the sunrise as it comes up, and what a uh uh a great uh symbolism for the new life.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: And I want to talk about that.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: You know, uh we were setting up and it was pitch black when we were when we got here, and uh the night had been going on for quite a long time, and it was quite dark, but the sun's coming up, and it's gonna be a beautiful sunrise over the over the lake here.
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: And uh and what we're celebrating on this is really a resurrection life or a new life.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: We understand that.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: But I I want to give a picture this morning of uh of what that looks like, and something for us to cherish and appreciate, and and it really is uh empowering.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: And I want to start by reading uh a verse from or a couple of verses from Romans chapter 8, and this is in the message Bible because the words are so so so not only so eloquent, but very it's very powerful the way that this uh particular version says it.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: But I'm reading Romans chapter 8, verse 12, and it says, So don't you see that we don't owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent?
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: There's nothing in it for us, nothing at all.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: First of all, I like that he that it's called a do-it-yourself life, because that's exactly what the old life was.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: And we understand that that we, you know, man's issue from the very beginning, when man got into trouble, when man began to choose, when man chose himself rather than God for his source of life, um uh it became hard.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: It was a real do-it-yourself life.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And that's why that's why people f uh feel like life sometimes is such a struggle.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: They feel like um, you know, like sometimes they feel hopeless and sometimes they feel helpless because it's a do-it-yourself uh mentality, and they feel like they're on their own.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: Um and even I think religion has sort of given us a false idea about God as if he's far away and and uh maybe he doesn't always care, or he's got he's got some other agenda than he really has.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: Just remember that his agenda for in creating you and I, and creating humanity, was that God is love, and love wants somebody to give the love to, to give his goodness to, to give his abundance to.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: And that's why he said, choose life.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I'm your life, choose me.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: But we chose that other, the other tree in the Garden of Eden.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: We chose the do-it-yourself life.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: But now that Jesus has come and we've received something new, He there is a restoration, the Spirit of God living inside of us, uh Him uniting with us and being with us and loving us and teaching us and showing us life and empowering us with life from the inside.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: We no longer have a do-it-yourself life.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: And we want to remember that.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: We want to remember that that you somebody's in love with you, and you're falling more and more in love with this invisible yet powerful and very intimate, gentle, loving, life-giving God, your creator, the lover of your soul.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And we don't have a do-it-yourself life anymore.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: We have a God life.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: And that's why Paul said, you know what, it's no longer I that's doing this, it's no longer I that lives, but it's Christ doing the living inside of me.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: That's where that joy comes from.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: That's where that peace comes from.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: That's where that love that goes beyond our knowledge comes from.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: It's Christ is living in you.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: That's why you're changing, that's why your thoughts are changing, that's why your perceptions are changing, your outlook is changing.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Uh because you're not doing this yourself anymore.
- 6:30SPEAKER_01: Somebody's with you.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: In fact, that's why Jesus said, you know, at times you don't even have to worry about what you're going to say in certain situations and certain stressful, potentially stressful situations.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: He says, somebody will be with you.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: My spirit will be there with you.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: He'll be that voice in your ear saying, This is the way.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Walk in it.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: So Paul here in Romans is saying, so don't you see, we don't owe that old do-it-yourself life, one red sin.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: We don't, we don't, we don't, we don't, we don't even have to give it another glance.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: We don't have to serve it, we don't have to do anything to uh certainly for righteousness, but also for for love of God and blessing of God and the favor of God.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Uh, even the provision of God, it allows us to have faith and confidence and security in Him.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: See, it's not like it used to be.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: And even though some of you may have known the Lord for a long time in certain ways, even today can be the dawning of a new day for you.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: The sun's coming up.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking of when when you know Peter had fished all night.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: In the dark of the night, he had fished all night there on the Sea of Galilee because you know that's when the fishing is good.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: And uh the word says he fished all night and caught nothing.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: You know, I can see him dragging his boat back in and he's cleaning his nets, and and Jesus shows up on the on the beach and he says, Peter, put your boat out there in the middle and and and and drop your nets.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Jesus, if it's all the same to you, I fished all night and caught nothing.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: See, that was his experience in the dark.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: He was doing it himself, in fact.
- 8:13SPEAKER_01: And Jesus is, in effect, is saying, you know what?
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: He says, he says, that was last night, not now.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: It's a new day.
- 8:21SPEAKER_01: I'm here.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: Go catch some fish.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: And that's where we're at right now.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: We're not in a do-it-ourself life anymore, ever again.
- 8:29SPEAKER_01: Forever and ever, we're always going to be united in life with him.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: And when we remember that, when we remember that he's our source of life, you know where the living water comes from, you know where the uh where the empowerment for life comes from, that's when you can stay connected in your mind with him.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: And that will always give you peace.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: And the Bible says he will keep your mind in perfect, he will keep you in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on him, the source of life.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: In fact, he said it's like a river of living water, like a fountain that would just be always flowing and supplying to you.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: So we don't owe the old do-it-yourself life one red cent.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: We don't have to look back on it.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: We don't have to, we don't even have to to to mourn it anymore.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: You know, I've had I had a horrible do-it-yourself life.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Um and it was painful, very, very painful.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: Cried a lot of tears during that time.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: But uh the joy of the life that I don't have to do myself so far outshines it that it floods our life and our heart with joy, doesn't it?
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: He says, we don't owe that life anything.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: It's we're not a part of it anymore.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: It's a new life.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: He says, and there's nothing in it for us.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: There's nothing at all.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: The best thing to do is to give it a decent burial and get on with your new life.
- 9:56SPEAKER_01: You know, it's good to remember that we're not alone in this, and you're never going to be alone.
- 10:03SPEAKER_01: And this life that we have is not just an updated version of an old life.
- 10:10SPEAKER_01: In fact, the Bible uses languages like the old man is dead.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: The old man was crucified.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: I've been crucified with Christ.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: Nevertheless, I live.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Yet it's not I, but it's Christ who's living in me.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: What a beautiful symbol a new day dawning is for us.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: Thanks for attending our sunrise service on this Easter morning.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: He says the best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: God's Spirit is beckoning.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: There are things to do and places to go.
- 10:47SPEAKER_01: You know, just hearing this and looking at it, you uh you can kind of get excited about your tomorrow.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: There's things to do and places to go.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: Whatever tomorrow is, it's not your yesterday.
- 10:58SPEAKER_01: Whatever this day brings, this sunrise in fact will look nothing like the sunrise looked yesterday.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: It's a new day.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: The next verse says, Now, this resurrection life that you receive from God is not a timid, grave tending life.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: It's adventurous and expectant.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: Now, I I like, I really like that he uses this language here, that this resurrection life is not a timid or fearful grave tending life.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: So, in other words, it's not it's not it's not going back over the dead thing.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: It's not going back over the over the past.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: It's not it's not tending the to the old life.
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: There again, you're not doing it yourself, and you're not, and you're not uh having to live with with regrets.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: See, that that would be grave tending, wouldn't it?
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Regretting what you've done or what you didn't do.
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: What's that doing?
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: That's looking back at an old day and tending to that.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: So he says, God's spirit is always calling you to goodness and and and more and to life.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: And he says, God's spirit is calling, so there's places to go and things to do.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: Gravetending would be would be looking at the things of the flesh.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Lack, right?
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Always looking at what we don't have, looking at what we need, looking at what we wish we had.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: You know, that's that that those things have nothing to do with this abundant kingdom of heaven that we that we live in now.
- 12:28SPEAKER_01: Those things were an old dark night before.
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: We used to live in a sense of lack.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: We used to live in a sense of lust, always needing, always wanting, desiring.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And this resurrection life, this new day, has taken away all of that because it's not dark anymore.
- 12:47SPEAKER_01: There's a whole new life going on here.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: There's abundance.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Look all around.
- 12:51SPEAKER_01: You know, when we got here and we were sitting up in the dark, we couldn't see all the things that we're seeing right now.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Now that the sun's starting to come up, now I can see, I can see every tree that's around here.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: I can see the details much more clearly.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Well, they were here when it was when we got here, it was dark, but we couldn't see them.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: It was just darkness all around us.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: But they were there.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: And you know what this new life does?
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: It because it's not on you, he opens our eyes, doesn't he?
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: He causes us to see what's been there the whole time.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: Look at all the abundance.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: There's there's there's there's beauty all around.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: But in the old night, when it was dark, there was no beauty to be seen.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: And it's like that in the old life, and and and maybe even in your uh, you know, you could say in your in your past, maybe there were there were crushed dreams.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: Maybe there were expectations that didn't that didn't happen.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Maybe there were hurts and disappointments because of that.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: Peter had fished all night.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: He was disappointed.
- 13:59SPEAKER_01: He certainly didn't want to go through that again.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: But Jesus said, this is a new day.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: You're not by yourself anymore.
- 14:07SPEAKER_01: I'm here.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: You're with me.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: You're gonna be fine, Peter.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Go enjoy your fishing now.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: And he got more than he ever thought he could get because there was an abundance.
- 14:18SPEAKER_01: There was an abundance of fish in that water.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Peter wasn't seeing any of it before in his old do-it-yourself fishing.
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: But with Jesus, it's different.
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: This is what I'm really, you know, I'm so thankful for.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: I'm mindful of this really, uh, every day, really, honestly, is that I'm so glad that I don't have to do life by myself.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: There are situations that we all come up against.
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: I do it, Judy and I do it, you do it.
- 14:49SPEAKER_01: We all run into things in life.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm so thankful when I hit those hard places that I'm not by myself.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: I'm so thankful that there's uh there's somebody that knows more about this than I do.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: And there's somebody that has already worked its way, worked his way through this.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: And uh there's something about knowing the reality of this person.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: In fact, Jesus called himself, I am the resurrection.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: This is him.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: He is your new day, he is your new life, isn't he?
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: Last night there may have been regrets.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Last night there may have been lacks and needs and wants and hungers and thirstings and desires and things you wish you had and things you wished you didn't have.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: But putting our attention on those things, and Romans 8 talks about that a lot too, putting our attention on those things just brings more of the the spirit and the feeling, the the existence of a death and a destruction.
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: And and the and the good news is we don't have to anymore because see, I didn't do anything to make this sun come up.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: It came by itself.
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: And just like just like like Jesus in your life, he's coming up.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: In fact, Peter said, you know, pay heed to this word until the day dawns and the day star rises in your heart.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: See, you're not doing this yourself.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: Jesus is rising.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: God Himself is taking over your life more and more.
- 16:23SPEAKER_01: You and I are growing, and that's good news.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: That means it gets to get better and better.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: The longer I sit here and talk, the lighter and brighter this is gonna get.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: It's just gonna happen.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Because that sun has something to say about this day more than I do.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: Also, another way of tending grave is is paying, is, is there again putting too many attentions on deceptions, things that pretend to be what life is about, but it's really not.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Jesus brought us the true life.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Remember, he said, I came that you would have life.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: Well, we already had existence.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: We already were buying and selling and making livings and paying and paying taxes, even, and and marrying and giving in marriage and having children and doing all of our stuff, buying and building houses, all that stuff, when Jesus came and he says, No, I came to give you life.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: That's not living.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: I came to give you my life.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: The way that God lives himself.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: And and and when that happens, the light turns on.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: And we're no longer deceived about what life is about.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: Because until the light turns on and we see this, we think life is about getting food on the table.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: We think life is about what are we going to wear, what are we going to eat, how are we going to be sheltered.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: We think life is about who likes us.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: We think life is about how successful are we, how popular are we, how uh, you know, who validates us, what do people think about us?
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: What's what do I think about me?
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Trying to improve me, my self-image, other people's image.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: We're doing all these things, and he says, you don't even know.
- 18:06SPEAKER_01: He says, I came to give you a life.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: You know, that's the thorns that choke out, choke out the word that keep people unfruitful in Mark 4.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: What is fruitfulness?
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: What is the fruit?
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: It's the love, the joy, the peace, and so on.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: What keeps a believer from experiencing every day this free gift of love and joy and peace, which is the kingdom of God?
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: He says it's the deceptions of making a living, money, riches.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: He says it's the it's the uh the cares, the cares of the external life.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: See, today we have a wonderful opportunity to look at and realize, in fact, I'm praying that the Spirit shows us in a way that we've never seen before how wonderful this life is.
- 19:05SPEAKER_01: You know, Mary went to go tend a grave.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: She went to go tend a grave and was bringing some oil and spices for Jesus' body.
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: But she got surprised on that morning when she got there, the tomb was open, the grave was empty, and there was no, there was nothing to attend to there anymore.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: Because a new day had come.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: And that's the day that we're celebrating today.
- 19:35SPEAKER_01: That when Jesus rose from the dead, the word says, we rose with them.
- 19:39SPEAKER_01: Oh, I I I love this new life.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I want to finish this.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: He says, so this life that we've now received, it's not a timid, grave-tending life.
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Why?
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Because we're not alone.
- 19:50SPEAKER_01: The Bible says that this work of righteousness that would come to us when this new day would dawn, Jesus coming and appearing in our hearts, that it would produce peace, and the effect of righteousness would be confidence and assurance always.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: There's any there's you can do all kinds of things to protect yourself, to control your life situation, to try to protect yourself from anything uh hard or bad coming.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: We don't know how to do it.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: We've never been successful at doing that.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: But we're not afraid because it's not on us anymore.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: We're not doing the do-it-yourself life.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: We're not eating of the knowledge of good and evil, we're eating of the tree of life.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: That means we're in union with somebody and we're gonna live forever.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: This life has assured us that we are living forever.
- 20:42SPEAKER_01: You know it in your spirit.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: He says this isn't a timid grave tending life.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: It's adventurously expectant.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: What's that?
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: That's faith.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: See, this is a new day.
- 20:54SPEAKER_01: I it feels so good.
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Uh I don't do this often.
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: I don't get up early and get to see a sunrise.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: But boy, isn't there something about seeing a fresh day that's never been before?
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: It's adventurously expectant.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: I'm already thinking about, I'm already thinking about what we can do this morning when I might be sleeping at this time.
- 21:16SPEAKER_01: It's adventurously expectant, and it greets God with a childlike, what's next, Papa?
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: I have a whole new day to live.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: Not just a natural 24-hour day, but I have a day to live, which is an is a forever day.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: What's going on here?
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: See, I'm uh we're not deceived about this.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: We know that there are hardships in life.
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: Jesus said that there is, but he says, but be happy, celebrate, have a good time.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Because I overcame all of that.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: How did he do that?
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: He did it by removing our fear, our timidity of it, by giving us a security that we're always with him.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Anytime I run into something hard and I and I start getting the feeling like I'm know what we're gonna do.
- 22:01SPEAKER_01: It's like, what's next, Papa?
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And the way I say it is, Father, what do you say?
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: What do you think about this?
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: What's the truth about this situation?
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: And it always, it always whatever he does somehow, it b it gives me peace.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: It gives me a sense of security.
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: You know right now it just I don't know what this day is going to hold.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: I don't know if there's going to be problems today.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: But one thing I know is it's a beautiful day.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: And we're not alone.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: We have this adventurously expectancy that greets God with a childlike, what's next, Papa?
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: His spirit touches our spirits and it confirms who we really are.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: Who are we today?
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Are we alone?
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Is this a do-it-yourself life?
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: You know, sometimes some of our religious ideas have given us the impression that God's expecting us to do, expecting us to prove ourselves to Him.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: You know, we talk about what people will say well God's testing us to see if we're strong, testing us to see if we're devoted, testing us to see if we will we'll walk in love, testing us to see if we'll stay faithful.
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: He's not doing that.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: In fact the Bible says very clearly he doesn't test or tempt any man that way.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: That's New Testament.
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: What does he do?
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Instead he empowers.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: He's not looking to see how strong we are.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: He became that strength that I didn't have.
- 23:39SPEAKER_01: He already knew that I didn't have it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_01: He's not looking to see if I'm strong.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: He already knew that I wasn't.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: And so he said I love you son.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: Let me be your strength.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: He's not looking to see if I love him enough.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: He knows I I don't have the capacity in myself in my do-it-yourself life.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: I can't love God enough.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: That old testament command love God with all your heart I've tried it I tried it for 20 years as a Christian in a do-it-yourself style of Christianity and I found out he wasn't he wasn't demanding that I love him he said let me just love you and then love for him happened and that's why the word says we love him just because he loves us.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: See everything comes from him he's the source you know I can I can light a candle or or or bring a light here and and you know I can I can I can light up try to lighten up the day myself it's very very insufficient.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: God can do this himself.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: His Spirit confirms who we really are we know who he is and we know who we are he's the Father we are the children we are family we're together and we know that we're getting what's coming to us in this unbelievable inheritance you know we used to sing this little light of mine I'm gonna let it shine and then when we were kids and we'd say hide it under a bushel no and I got the impression that what we have is this little candle like a little birthday candle you know in there somewhere this little I mean the fact that it says little light of mine nowhere in the Bible does it say this is a little light.
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: It calls it the morning star or the day star.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: It's not a candle it's a sun.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: This is what's rising in you.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: And the Bible says that the day of the righteous that's you and me it burns brighter and brighter until the fullness thereof.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: So maybe in your life right now you say you know there's still a lot of darkness all around well there's still darkness around here it's it's much brighter than it was when we started but it's going to get a lot brighter and I'm confident of that.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: And nothing I do is going to make this day brighter or dimmer.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: It is set in motion.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: In fact the Bible says that his going forth that he will that he will arise the sun capital S-U-N he calls himself the Son of righteousness he will arise with healing in his wings what's he doing giving you life he's restoring he's doing he's doing all of it and and and this is how we can rest because it's all him and it really is not us.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: I can testify of that I can testify I lived a Christianity where I where I was still predominantly doing it myself and and and asking God to help me when I realized he was the source of all of this and he and not only was he not just my helper but he didn't need my help he said son rest when I laid on the floor and said Father I quit I give up there's nothing else that I can do he says good are you done because I am your source of life and and and and he says the Son of righteousness will arise with healing in his wings his going forth has been established like the sun you know it we've got no doubts that this day is going to get brighter.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: It's going to get brighter it's going to get warmer and I want you to have no doubts all of us to have no doubts that we're growing and Christ in us is is is is growing bigger in the sense that we're knowing him more we're acknowledging him more we're enjoying him more and we're resting in him more I want you to have the joy of resting in something that's bigger than you are.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: I want us to to enjoy resting in someone who's more beautiful than anything we could have imagined or tried to put together for ourselves it's such a peaceful morning right now.
- 28:14SPEAKER_01: This time of day the the water is almost it's just it's like glass the feeling of the sky is peaceful.
- 28:27SPEAKER_01: This reminds me of when I found out that God was enough and everything I was trying to do for God was insufficient.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Everything I was trying to do in the name of God for myself was not sufficient and that's why even my Christianity still had much struggle to it.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: And it felt like I was chasing a carrot on a string we're here welcome home to the kingdom of God the resurrection has come new life has come Jesus is the one and we look for no other he's come and he has come inside you.
- 29:12SPEAKER_01: So let's not sit at the bus stop waiting for something in the future to make things better because the better has come to you and me and we have it now.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: That's the good news Jesus said preach it.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: The kingdom is now at hand it's come and it's within you.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: I want to pray right now Father I thank you for your unspeakable gift.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: You gave us life when we didn't know how to get it you gave us love when we didn't even really know what it was.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: You defined by your definition what existence is really all about and we have come home and you've you've you not only did you bring us home but you're showing us what this is like and it's bringing heaven into our hearts.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Thank you that it's working in our homes it's working in our in our in in our souls so that we have peace.
- 30:07SPEAKER_01: Even in a time like this where there's so much trouble all around there is such peace in you you've overcome all of that.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: We thank you that it's free that you've gifted it to us and you've been so extravagant and generous peaceful and kind you for being who you are and being everything that we could not be on our own.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: And thank you Father for giving us the assurance today that we are not doing this ourselves.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: In fact we're willing to stop trying to do it ourselves we're gonna rest and we're gonna trust because of what you're showing us.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: Even that rest comes because of what you've doing what you're doing in our heart.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: So today we celebrate thank you for Jesus thank you for new life thank you for our personal new day our hopes and our futures we move in excitement we love you because we're not alone hey guys have a great day and remember every day of your life that things are not as before and remember to acknowledge him in all your ways and he'll direct you he loves you and he always will God bless you have a great day
