- 0:09Speaker 2: One and only Steve Harvey got a radio show.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Man, if I had time enough to tell the whole trip,
- 0:18Speaker 1: the whole journey, and y'all would be sitting up in
- 0:21Speaker 1: there going, okay, Steve, are we going to play the
- 0:23Speaker 1: show this week? But man, it's been a lot of
- 0:28Speaker 1: amazing things has happened to me over the years, and
- 0:34Speaker 1: not all of them good. It's been some amazingly bad
- 0:38Speaker 1: things that have happened too. But I just come on
- 0:42Speaker 1: in the morning as a reminder to everybody of the
- 0:46Speaker 1: actual goodness of God, that you know, man, that these
- 0:49Speaker 1: mistakes that you're making, that these setbacks that you keep having,
- 0:55Speaker 1: that these falls that keep occurring in your life, that
- 0:59Speaker 1: they all all are leading you somewhere.
- 1:01Speaker 2: If you just don't ever give up. That's the key.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You can never ever give up because you don't know
- 1:10Speaker 1: how the trip has been laid out for you. You know,
- 1:14Speaker 1: if somebody had told me years ago when I had
- 1:18Speaker 1: the dream of being on TV and then I thought
- 1:20Speaker 1: about being a one of one of the best comedians
- 1:24Speaker 1: I could be, you know, when I when I started.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Somebody had told me everything that was gonna have to
- 1:31Speaker 1: happen in order for me to get there, I would
- 1:34Speaker 1: have changed it. I would have I would have said, Okay,
- 1:39Speaker 1: well I ain't gonna be that. How about this? See
- 1:42Speaker 1: and no one can know all of the events of
- 1:46Speaker 1: their life ahead of time. You know, it'd be so nice,
- 1:48Speaker 1: wouldn't it. You know, to prepare for it, see it come,
- 1:51Speaker 1: and be aware of the haters, always knowing when the
- 1:57Speaker 1: backstabbing moment is coming in your life, always knowing when
- 2:01Speaker 1: you're gonna get blindsided by the enemy. Were really great
- 2:04Speaker 1: to know that, wouldn't it. Well, that's not how it works.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So since no one knows exactly the challenges and the
- 2:14Speaker 1: pitfalls and the detours that's gonna beset them, it's it's
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's imperative that you just don't give up. Because see,
- 2:24Speaker 1: knowing these things, we as human beings by nature, would
- 2:31Speaker 1: choose another route. But it ain't the route God God
- 2:34Speaker 1: for you, though. See the route God God for you.
- 2:37Speaker 1: If you if you're trying to do the right thing,
- 2:40Speaker 1: if you're doing the best you can, if you ain't
- 2:43Speaker 1: out here just intentionally just messing over folks, if you
- 2:47Speaker 1: using faith, and that's the belief in things that you
- 2:50Speaker 1: cannot see. If you have something on the inside of
- 2:53Speaker 1: you to keep saying there's got to be more to
- 2:55Speaker 1: life than that, then that's that's you.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You, my friend, have a great chance here.
- 3:02Speaker 1: And if you've ever had that feeling then gave up
- 3:05Speaker 1: on it, Just get it back, Just ask for it back,
- 3:09Speaker 1: Just say, hey, man, I'm getting back to the way
- 3:11Speaker 1: I used to be because there's a change that's available
- 3:14Speaker 1: in your life, but you got to take it.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You got to take a shot at it. Folks.
- 3:19Speaker 1: There's a chance for you to get it right, but
- 3:22Speaker 1: you gotta take a shot at it.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Folks.
- 3:24Speaker 1: There's a chance for you to turn this whole thing
- 3:26Speaker 1: around with God's help, but you gotta take a shot
- 3:30Speaker 1: at it. You see, this decision is yours. The decision
- 3:34Speaker 1: to lay down, to give up, that's yours. It ain't
- 3:37Speaker 1: even just got too hard for me. Life too much, man,
- 3:40Speaker 1: life hard and too much for everybody. What I got
- 3:44Speaker 1: to get you to see? My father used to always
- 3:46Speaker 1: tell me, it says so best lessons in life, to
- 3:49Speaker 1: born your value and learn the most is a bout lesson.
- 3:53Speaker 1: I didn't quite understand that being young, but I show
- 3:56Speaker 1: got it now. Ain't no lesson like a bout lesson
- 4:00Speaker 1: you pay for. Those are the ones that hold to you,
- 4:03Speaker 1: that stick to you, that start turning you into who
- 4:07Speaker 1: you're gonna be. Those are the character builders. See, you
- 4:11Speaker 1: got to be forged to get to where you want
- 4:14Speaker 1: to go in life. See, that's what the challenge is
- 4:16Speaker 1: and missteps is for that's what the failing is about.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Now.
- 4:20Speaker 1: I know you don't like it. I didn't. I know
- 4:22Speaker 1: you're not comfortable with I wouldn't. I know you wish
- 4:26Speaker 1: it was over sooner than later.
- 4:27Speaker 2: I always do.
- 4:29Speaker 1: I always want it to be over sooner than later
- 4:32Speaker 1: because the later, man, it just seems like it's so
- 4:35Speaker 1: much I got to go through.
- 4:37Speaker 2: But let me tell you something, Man, if you can.
- 4:40Speaker 1: If you can forge your way through it and understand
- 4:43Speaker 1: that you are forged in life, I don't know. I
- 4:47Speaker 1: was on TV in one time when I was doing
- 4:49Speaker 1: one of my motivational speeches, and I began to wonder
- 4:55Speaker 1: about this experience I had at Ford Motor Company and
- 4:59Speaker 1: my last job after the auto industry started going down.
- 5:02Speaker 1: My last job was in the foundry, and my job
- 5:06Speaker 1: was to stand at the end almost where the engines
- 5:11Speaker 1: first come out of the furnace. See, the engines are
- 5:14Speaker 1: poured into a mold. It's hot, melted down metal or
- 5:18Speaker 1: whatever they call it, lava or whatever. They pour it
- 5:21Speaker 1: into a mold and it goes into this furnace that's
- 5:24Speaker 1: extremely hot. And my job was after the heat was
- 5:29Speaker 1: applied to the engine block, it would come through and
- 5:34Speaker 1: it would go through a hardening stage. With the way
- 5:36Speaker 1: it was hardening, they would cool it. Suddenly they would
- 5:40Speaker 1: flush it with water. It would just blast water on it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: But the fire and the high temperature is what made
- 5:48Speaker 1: the engine blocks solidify. It's because it's got to get
- 5:52Speaker 1: real hot, get melted down first.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Then it's got to get poured into a mole.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Then it's got to be pressure hit with water and
- 6:00Speaker 1: all of this, and then it and it's real hot.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Now it's still hot even though there's water being shotter.
- 6:06Speaker 1: But when it comes out the end of the side,
- 6:08Speaker 1: there's a lot of flashing in it. It flashing is
- 6:11Speaker 1: a metal from that to drip through the cast molding
- 6:14Speaker 1: on it, just like flex of extra pieces of metal.
- 6:18Speaker 1: My job was to hit this engine block in the front,
- 6:23Speaker 1: which is huge heavy rubber mallet knock all the flashing
- 6:28Speaker 1: off the front and when it came around back to bam,
- 6:32Speaker 1: hit it real hard again on the backside, and that
- 6:36Speaker 1: became the core of what the car is. A car
- 6:40Speaker 1: without a great engine is nothing. It's just a pretty
- 6:43Speaker 1: looking vehicle over there. But if it can't do what
- 6:46Speaker 1: it was made to do because the engine blocked, then crack.
- 6:49Speaker 2: So you can have a car.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Look real good, but if it freezes an engine block
- 6:52Speaker 1: cracked your car, you could it's over man. You gotta
- 6:56Speaker 1: get a new block. The block is the core. But
- 6:58Speaker 1: in order for you for the car to do what
- 7:01Speaker 1: it's got to do, it's got to have a strong engine.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It.
- 7:03Speaker 1: In order for the engine to be strong, it's got
- 7:05Speaker 1: to be forged and steel, come through fire, get poured
- 7:09Speaker 1: in a mole, cooled off, heated, knocked around, beat on
- 7:13Speaker 1: the front end, beat on the back end, and order
- 7:16Speaker 1: for it to be what it's gonna be. The mall
- 7:18Speaker 1: of the story, folks, is you got to get forged
- 7:21Speaker 1: in fire to be what you're gonna be. You got
- 7:25Speaker 1: to get beat up, you got to get pressure washed,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you got to have heat on you, you got to
- 7:29Speaker 1: get melted down.
- 7:31Speaker 2: You got to get pulled into a mole. That's how
- 7:33Speaker 2: you become who you are.
- 7:35Speaker 1: So the tough things that you're going through, the difficult
- 7:38Speaker 1: challenges and the setbacks.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I know a brother who went to prison, ma'am. And
- 7:43Speaker 2: the whole reason he.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Ended up going to prison because he was looking at
- 7:46Speaker 1: the little window looking out in the yard at him
- 7:48Speaker 1: working out. And then the next thing, you know, man,
- 7:51Speaker 1: this brother decided that he was gonna go out there
- 7:53Speaker 1: and work out.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Well, guess what, he's one of the top trainers in country.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Today here listening, you see Eve Harvey Morning Show
