- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Through the lens of self-friendship,
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: which I define as embracing,
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: understanding and enjoying oneself,
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: I hopefully inspire you to critically think,
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: creatively think and optimistically approach life.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Imagine this.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: You hopped on the band rocket and now you're on planet butter,
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: a world made of delicious,
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: sparkly peanut butter.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: And an adorable disco ball of self-reflection is whirling around in her transforming convertible.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks for joining me in my 41st episode where I'll be sharing my answer to last
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: week's question of the week.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: How to be...
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: how to come to terms with our hypnosis,
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: a word replacement for routine,
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: a note on retreats,
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: a renew affirmation,
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: a party of one,
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: a note on boundaries,
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: young and wise,
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: two types of quitting,
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: a perspective dance with mistakes,
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: a note on potential,
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: a self-friendship article snippet,
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: love is easy,
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: in love is self-friendship.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And as always, a brand new question at the end for all of us to self-reflect and self-connect.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: And email me, if you desire, selffriendshippodcast at gmail.com.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Last week,
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I offered the perspective that conditioning is equivalent to hypnosis,
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: hence the title of episode 40.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: I wasn't raised in New York City.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I was hypnotized in New York City.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And last week's question of the week was,
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: where were you hypnotized and what is one way it influenced you?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And as you just heard, I always invite you guys to email me your answers.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And this time, two of you did.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Yay!
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: I'm so proud of you for your willingness to share.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Now I will read their two answers and then gift you mine.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: So the first guy said, I was hypnotized when I was born and raised in Germany.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: I'm an American army brat,
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: but spent the majority of my formative years on foreign soil and didn't move to the
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: States permanently until I was between 11 to 12 years old.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: It influenced me because I witnessed firsthand the livelihoods of people who
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: weren't devoted to a rat race like we are here.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: I followed your posts for a few months now,
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: and part of the reason why I believe the universe pulled me to them is because how
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: you buck the trends and trapping of the programming society piles on us.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: I look forward to the day I can confidently shed the burden of societal traps and
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: just live my life on my own planet.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Then he listed two potential names for his planet.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Obsessed with that.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And he said, I haven't decided yet.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Love it.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Again, thanks for all you do and keep it up.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I honestly believe you are doing good work here.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: How fucking sick.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Guys, we're making progress.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Waves.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Peanut butter waves.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Sparkly peanut butter waves.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Stick around.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: The second answer we got was, so where was I hypnotized and what created it?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: He said.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I was born into a family of Jehovah Witnesses,
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: which at my core knew it was off,
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: very cult like with controlling families with the so-called elders.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: So as I aged and got into junior high school slash high school,
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: the grips of freedom was whirling like Blissy and the rebellious black hip hop
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: culture was thriving and seeding the minds of the white kids and friends.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: that black people should be this, especially when I had reading and writing challenge with enunciation.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: So I went running into this path, which my family wasn't good at expressing pain.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: As my mom was going through a degenerative disease since I was the age of seven,
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Then it turned to me, then it turned me to the world of sports.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: I snuck my way onto the soccer team for a year and then I got onto the football team,
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: which was really the big shift that I followed and had support as I went to play
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: college and university.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Hell yeah.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: As well,
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I started playing high school hockey as they,
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: quite the athlete,
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: sir,
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: as they rebooted the hockey program.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: So cool.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Then you throw the challenges of women in there and I was placed in this chaotic space.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Great question, he says.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: P.S., the word, oh, the word play infinitesimally immaculate.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: Immaculant.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Thank you for sharing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: We've all got stuff, guys.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Now, my answer to last week's question of the week, I said, I was hypnotized in New York City.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: One way it influenced me is the need for speed.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Efficiency is a luxury.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: in certain respects.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: And it's also not necessary in many respects.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: I learned how to be fast.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I was conditioned, hypnotized, to be fast.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: But innately,
- 5:04SPEAKER_00: I've always tended to do a lot of things slowly because I actually enjoy savoring
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: the moment.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Like slow mornings, leisurely walking, long showers, eating slowly, chatting, you know.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: That's my answer, yay.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: Okay, now moving and grooving.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: How to come to terms with our hypnosis.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: The best way to be able to come to terms with our hypnosis or childhood
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: conditioning is to remember it's not personal.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: If we take it personally, we're caught up in our ego.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: While harnessing our ego can be valuable,
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: is valuable,
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: and I would argue necessary,
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: but that's another conversation.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Our ego is the thing that differentiates us from being just pure energy.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: For the sake of our self-friendship practice and therefore our evolution,
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: the ability to be objective is imperative.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: When we can be objective about our own ego and hypnosis,
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: we can treat everything as factual experiences and positive.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Perspectives.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Creating the necessary space to process our life experience from a place that is
- 6:21SPEAKER_00: detached from any belief.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And that is the trick that allows us to effectively move forward and do so differently.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: Which is required to shift our patterns.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Acting differently.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Observing.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: Identifying.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Acting differently.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: And doing it all objectively.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Now, so much to do, so much time.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: There is no time limit.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: There is no timeline.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: There are time goals, but you have all your time in your world.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: the rush?
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: There is none.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship is embracing, understanding, and enjoying ourselves.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: When we focus on ourselves and our own life,
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: our own time,
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: we can appreciate that everything in life is happening as it's intended to.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: When we continue to prioritize our own best interest,
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: the experiences we encounter within our time are far more fun.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: Fun, fun, fun, fun, fun.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: We want to have fun.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Life is awesome.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Now, a word replacement for routine.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: activities.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: I revisited my self-friendship article from June 12, 2024, titled Routine Minus the Attachment.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And in it,
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: I express how rather than creating a routine that we must stick to,
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: we can simply recognize activities that work for us and release the attachment to
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: the order in which we perform these activities.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Imagine feeling comfortable with your own personal routines being flexible and ever-changing.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: Integrating unpredictability within our personal routines sets the tone for our
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: relationship with external forces in our life,
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: forming a foundation of comfort in discomfort.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: The more we integrate the layers of the external world into our individual foundational development,
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: the more mentally and emotionally resilient we become.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: We are adaptable, emotionally competent, intellectually stimulated creatures.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Let's act like it.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Please.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: A note on the three core methods.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: A loving reminder,
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: the three core methods to activating our self-friendship are boundaries,
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: confidence,
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: alignment.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: The note is respecting other people's three core methods.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: The more someone practices integrating the three core methods into every moment,
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: the more they naturally respect others who are also honoring their own boundaries,
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: showing up confidently and aligning with themselves.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: This creates a foundation for harmony, living in harmony with ourselves.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Blissy, short for Blisserence, which means living in harmony with oneself.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: If you're new here, Blissy is the queen of the world of Planet Butter.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: Next.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: I love recording this podcast.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: I wish I could see my face because I'm just talking to a camera.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: I'm like, hello?
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: Are you there?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Jordan?
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Blizzard?
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: Planet?
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Where is she?
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm right here.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: All right, a note on retreats.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Retreat is defined as withdrawing from something.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: But when I say retreat these days,
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: you probably picture a group of ladies frolicking in some faraway land together.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: I fully support that if it's your thing.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Also, I'm sure men do it too.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: I just feel like, at least I think about just like women going on retreats for some reason.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: So I fully support that if that's your thing, but it really shouldn't be called a retreat.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: Sure,
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: technically people are withdrawing from something to go as per the definition,
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: but the whole event is anything but a retreat.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: It's more like an extended period of hyper socializing on somebody else's schedule.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Again, if that's your thing, that's cool.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: But hear me out.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: At some point,
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: I'll plan a butter.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: We'll host a retreat and I'll call it isolation together.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: Damn.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Have you guys ever seen the movie?
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: The love guru giving all these acronyms and he just keeps saying TM.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: Check it out.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: It's a funny movie.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: So.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: I'll call it isolation together.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: Everyone would be required to operate independently in whatever way best suits their body and mind.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Before coming to the event,
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: the retreat,
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: the isolation together,
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: we would survey to ask your favorite childhood activities and any new activities
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: you've wanted to try.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: There would be a Planet Butter pizza and butter bar,
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: as seen in the coffee table book with the lesson,
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Party of One.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: It's an organic fusion restaurant with various areas of the restaurant having a
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: vibe shift depending on the cuisine.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: We'll have a variety of different activities accessible based on the surveys.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: When you come, the only rule...
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: is to do whatever you want, whenever you want, based on your intuition.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: Take notes as you go on what you do,
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: observations of yourself,
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: any patterns or stories that develop,
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: and see what unfolds for you during your time.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: At the end,
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: we'll all come together to self-reflect and self-connect,
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: see who crossed paths and who didn't,
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: reflect on what each person we did cross paths with mirrored to us,
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: what stories developed,
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: and what we learned about ourselves and others in the experiences.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Let me know what you think.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: Isolation together.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Now, a renew affirmation, because this isn't new.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: I made it up a while ago in a Planet Butter Instagram reel.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: It's not too good to be true.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: It's not too good to be true.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: people life is amazing and sometimes we can psych ourselves out of amazing things
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: because we build up self-doubt disbeliefs imposter syndrome all that but it's true
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: it's so good it's true cool now a party of one
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: As a loving reminder,
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: party of one means having fun with oneself,
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: for oneself,
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: as oneself,
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: anywhere,
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: everywhere,
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: no matter who's there.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: We become our party of one by consistently practicing self-friendship.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: Each episode,
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: I share little tidbits from my life that happened thanks to me showing up in the
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: world as my party of one.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: So the recovery spa that I go to,
- 13:15SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: sauna,
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: ice bath,
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: all that fun stuff,
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: hosts a monthly outdoor movie night.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: It's super awesome because you hang in a pool, floaty, watch the movie or a beanbag, whatever.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: And this month's movie was I Love You Man, a great comedy if you don't know it.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I wish I were exaggerating when I say I was the only person laughing out loud at
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: during the movie.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I will never understand people who withhold their emotions during a movie, especially a comedy.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: I Love You Man is a comedy.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: The creators want us to laugh out loud.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Also,
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: on that note,
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: I want to acknowledge that I've been laugh shamed my entire life for laughing very
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: loudly and now
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I'm getting paid for it.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: Who's laughing now?
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: Still me.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Because I show up as my party of one,
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: having fun with myself,
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: for myself,
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: as myself,
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: anywhere,
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: everywhere,
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: no matter who's telling me to shut up.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: Oh, silly lady.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: A note on boundaries.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Boundaries, as a reminder, is the first core method to activate your self-friendship.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Sometimes we have to set boundaries that we don't want to set.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And sticking to them can be really challenging.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: But that's the thing with self-friendship.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: We are not always doing what we want to do.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: We're doing what's in our own best interest.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: I'd venture to say the most empowering boundaries are the hardest to enforce.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm just going to let us sit in that for a second.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: The most empowering boundaries are the hardest to enforce.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: And again, when practicing self-friendship, we are not always doing what we want to do.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: We are doing what's in our own best interest.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Sit with that.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: Young and wise.
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: In the honor of self-friendship,
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I want to hold space for a moment to appreciate my wisdom and acknowledge my
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: youthfulness because it's an interesting combo to be so wise and have only 28 years
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: of life experience.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: I also think the naivety of my youth serves in the ability to embody my wisdom.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: Yay me.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: That's hilarious that I included that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I write things and I don't remember writing them and then I'm like, wow, you're hilarious.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: A note on mental prep.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: I observe this about myself in my self-reflecting and self-connecting ways,
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: and I'm excited to share it with you guys as a consideration for you and your ways
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: of operating in your self-friendship practice.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: So when I do work that requires a lot of my mental energy,
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: as in the type of work that I'm capable of doing,
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: but it does not come naturally to me,
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: but I do it for Planet Butter because I'll do anything in Planet Butter's best interest.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: For that type of work, I require so much mental prep time.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: And when the time does come,
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: I have to ensure that I do something that's before and after that is of absolutely
- 16:38SPEAKER_00: no similar brain power because otherwise it's game over.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: And so afterwards,
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: especially again,
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: it's like there's a buildup before of like recovery before I do the thing and then
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: recovery after.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: And I know that's funny to say.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: I think it's funny.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: recovery before doing it doesn't make as much sense, but it's like a pre-recovery recovery.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: There's a word for that.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: I can't think of it.
- 17:03Oh God.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: It's like a preventative care for my brain.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: Oh God, we got this.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: So the point is,
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: I wanted to just offer you the consideration that when you know you have to do
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: something that you're not natural at,
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: but you want to do it because it's in your best interest or your work's best
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: interest or whatever it may be,
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: make sure that you do something completely different before and after so that you
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: actually have the energy and clarity to do the thing that you want slash need to do.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Hope it's helpful.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: That was a little rough.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: Now, self-friendship article snippet localized even when passing through because we always are.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: June 19th, 2024.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: Curiosity parallels travel, an adventurous mind.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Our souls are eternal wanderers.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Our body is its transportation.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Our brain is the navigator and our intuition connects us to the universe, our landscape.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Travel is defined as going from one place to another, typically over a distance of some length.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: societally speaking, it's typically referred to as going from cities, countries, or regions.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: As I see it,
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: life is a perpetual state of travel,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: always going from one place to another,
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: regardless of the length.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: As per the definition, typically over a distance of some length.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: Some length?
- 18:40Okay.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: I love these little details because it makes me giggle to be super literal.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: Some length is the distance between your kitchen and your bed.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Some length is the distance between your bed and the moon.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Traveling.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Now take this literal interpretation of the term travel and perspective dance with me.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: If we are equal parts perpetually traveling and perpetually localizing,
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: we are inviting ourselves to grow.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: We are honoring our self-friendship,
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: the daily practice of embracing,
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: understanding,
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: and enjoying ourselves.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Local emotion, a Blizzard's dictionary term.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: The action of perpetually localizing ourselves.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: It embodies a state of openness, exploration, curiosity, and depths.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: The more comfortable we feel with immersing ourselves and localizing ourselves in
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: new places,
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: the more comfortable we become with exploring new parts of ourselves.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Our brains are programmed with our thoughts,
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: our experiences,
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: and our thoughts about our experiences,
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: which becomes our perception.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: The more new experiences we expose ourselves to and the more willing we are to
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: localize in the new experiences,
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: the more we naturally are rewiring our brain and creating our desired self,
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: our planet.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Yay.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: Now a note on ideas.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: I personally choose to see the concept of inventing as anything we create by way of
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: our own line of thinking,
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: regardless if it already exists.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: If our own thinking arrived us to something that already exists, obviously it's a great idea.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: That doesn't change our invention.
- 20:23SPEAKER_00: Our thought process led us to that idea.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: It just changes the need or desire to take further action.
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Now two types of quitting.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: There's quitting out of disempowerment and quitting out of consciousness.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: When we quit from disempowerment, it's rooted in stagnation, like being stuck.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Stagnation.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: But when we quit from consciousness,
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: it's rooted in empowerment and is actually pivoting rather than quitting.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: And now another party of one.
- 20:58Peace.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: The place I go for aerial yoga is on the beach and it's about an hour beach walk back to my villa.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: So I always walk back after class.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: This super, super, super, super cute handmade hat stand I've always had my eye on.
- 21:10SPEAKER_00: And the other day it was finally time to indulge and give to myself one.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: I didn't have enough cash and beep, the bank transfer wasn't working.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: And so Mary,
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: the queen of the hats,
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: that is the designer creator,
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: so cutely offered to drive me to the ATM.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: I love an adventure and a cute little story.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: So I was in.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: We leave the beach and the hat stand.
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Note the level of trust and comfort that exists in Bali.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: This could be the whole world if we all keep practicing self-friendship.
- 21:40SPEAKER_00: All right, back to the ATM.
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: We go to the ATM, giggle and woo the whole way there, like on scooter.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: We're like, woo, because why not?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Get the cash, drive back to the beach, kiss the hats with the cash.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: We called it cash kisses.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Hugged, and then I carried on my way, wearing my new beach hat.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Party of one.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: Cute.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Now, a little self-friendship in action.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: So the Planet Butter jet hasn't landed quite yet.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: It's on its way.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: So while I was on my recent commercial flight,
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: I was sleeping in a very funky position and I crushed my foot so hard it was
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: entirely numb.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: My self-friendship practice was literally saying to myself, I have a fully functioning foot and toes.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: I have a fully functioning foot and toes.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: And I also massaged my calf to get the blood circulating.
- 22:35SPEAKER_00: And I squeezed the skin between my thumb and my pointer right here.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: Because when I was little,
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: I read one time that that can relieve headaches quickly because it just like causes
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: the blood to circulate fast.
- 22:46SPEAKER_00: So I thought I'd try it with my foot and it worked.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: So...
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship tips.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Now a perspective dance with mistakes.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I forgot to do the boogie perspective dance.
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: You didn't make a mistake.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: You did what you were meant to do in that moment, even if it's not what you originally intended to do.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: It was meant to be that way, so therefore it wasn't a mistake.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: It needed to happen so that whatever happened following it, whether directly or indirectly, could happen.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And we,
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: if we're practicing self-friendship,
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: learn about ourselves in the given context and demonstrate to ourselves and the
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: universe our willingness to upgrade.
- 23:34SPEAKER_00: You know it.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Such is life.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: It's kind of difficult to come to terms with, but it's really powerful when we do.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: We can ditch regret,
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: self-criticism that's not constructive criticism,
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: and any other mean stuff about what maybe momentarily felt like a mistake.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Now, a note on potential.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: We all have potential.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship is actualizing it.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Consider it.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: Well, since you're here, you're already considering it.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: A note on products we use.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: We truly should not be using products on our bodies that say don't swallow or yeah, yeah, on our bodies.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: It should not say don't swallow or if you get this in your eyes, call the ambulance or whatever.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I say this because I sprayed my facial sea spray cleanser, not cleanser, it's a sea spray.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: It's like a refresher thing into my eyeball by accident and it felt good.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: While that might partially be because I show up in the world as my party of one.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: Probably.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: It's basically unheard of.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: And that's a problem.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: More people should be able to accidentally spray shit into their eyes and have it feel surprisingly good.
- 25:03SPEAKER_00: That said,
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: the things we are putting into our bodies and on our skin that goes into our pores
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: and absorbed at the cellular level of our bodies really need to be things that
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: actually feel good to our bodies,
- 25:14SPEAKER_00: not things that are extraordinarily hazardous to our well-being.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: That's the planet better version of that.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Now, a self-friendship article snippet.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Love is easy.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: In love is self-friendship.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: September 2nd, 2024.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: It's commonly discussed that we need to love ourselves first before entering a
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: healthy romantic relationship.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: On Planet Butter,
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: I'm here to offer through the lens of self-friendship,
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: we actually need to be absolutely fucking enamored with ourselves.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: Utterly in love with ourselves.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: That the only possible upgrade, expansion,
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: is another human who is equally enamored with themselves.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: This creates a united expansion of one another.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: It exposes us to parts of ourselves that are simply not accessible on our own,
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: fueling even more of our self-friendship practice.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: One plus one equals eight.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: One human practicing self-friendship plus one human practicing self-friendship equals infinity.
- 26:28SPEAKER_00: Expansion, eight.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: A partnership.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: How do we become absolutely fucking enamored with ourselves?
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Utterly in love with ourselves?
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: We focus.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: A Blizzard's dictionary term.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: F-O-K-I-S-S.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Which means giving our full attention towards something we love.
- 26:55SPEAKER_00: Focus, the English dictionary term, which means pay particular attention to
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: is inevitable.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: While focus is inevitable, focus is a conscious choice.
- 27:07SPEAKER_00: When we take responsibility for what we focus on,
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: what we learn and focus ourselves,
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: we perpetually upgrade and therefore evolve at the highest possible frequency,
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: which I call a party of one.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: having fun with ourselves,
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: for ourselves,
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: as ourselves,
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: meaning we will inevitably become enamored with ourselves,
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: in love with ourselves.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: As our foundation of self becomes unshakable,
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: the only possible upgrade,
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: expansion,
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: becomes romantic love.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: becoming in love with another human being who is equally involved in their
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: self-friendship practice,
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: enamored with themselves,
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: in love with themselves.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: This upgrade invites us to an elevated depth of our existence,
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: experiencing new layers of ourselves we simply cannot access without a powerful
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: romantic connection.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: This is redundant intentionally, guys.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Without a powerful romantic connection,
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: who effortfully embraces,
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: understands,
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: and enjoys us,
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: respects our boundaries,
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: admires our confidence,
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: and aligns with where we are while supporting us with where we're going and vice versa.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Again, the three core methods are boundaries, confidence, alignment.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: We all have, are, and desire love.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: That's natural.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: That is effortless.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Self-friendship is becoming in love, not having love, not being love, not wanting love.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: That is already within us.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Become in love.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: Become holds space for the work required, the focus,
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: The learning, the focus.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: In holds space for the energetic space for active participation.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: Love holds space for what we naturally have, are, and desire.
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Two souls so full of themselves, they overflow into each other.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: Ha!
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: To be in love is an inevitable upgrade,
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: expansion,
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: access through the dedicated practice of self-friendship.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Now the question of the week.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: And I'll give more context for this next week.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: What type of sunglasses person are you?
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: Dark shades or light shades?
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: And why do you think that is?
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Email me your answers, selffriendshippodcast at gmail.com.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna give myself a hug.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: You did great, girl.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: Cool.

- 30:21SPEAKER_00: Self-Friendship in Action is where the world of Planet Butter comes to life through
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: really crazy,
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: cool,
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: trippy art that I made.
- 30:27SPEAKER_00: And Blissy, the disco ball of self-reflection, bops around.
