- 0:00Speaker 1: The following program is produced by the tech Talk Radio Network.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Everybody out there in radio, and this is James Young
- 0:05Speaker 1: from the rock band Stick. If you are technically challenged,
- 0:08Speaker 1: if you've got trouble with that computer yours, because Lord
- 0:10Speaker 1: knows I do you need to listen to tech talk Radio.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of tech Talk Radio. I'm
- 0:17Speaker 2: Sean de.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Weird, I'm Andy Taylor, and the table you are looking
- 0:21Speaker 1: at right now on the video for the show is
- 0:25Speaker 1: Sean's Hall from gen Con. Yeah, I got.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Back Sunday night from gen Con twenty twenty five, right,
- 0:33Speaker 2: so there's a little bit of picture of my haull.
- 0:34Speaker 2: So I've got some new games, some more Everdell games,
- 0:39Speaker 2: Everdel Silverfrost of Everdell Duo, which is a two player version,
- 0:43Speaker 2: Twinkle Twinkle which is a constellation building games, Tark Stars
- 0:47Speaker 2: in Space of course, Shocker, a game called Galaxy Trucker
- 0:50Speaker 2: which is another space game, Dice Tray Some Dice, a
- 0:53Speaker 2: Dagger Heart book which I actually had bought before gen
- 0:56Speaker 2: Con but got it signed. And then some new D
- 0:58Speaker 2: and D five E books from Gooey Cube, which is
- 1:02Speaker 2: which is the third party platform for D and D
- 1:05Speaker 2: one of my favorites. I've been following them for a
- 1:06Speaker 2: long time and got to participate in their live show
- 1:08Speaker 2: this year, which is pretty cool. And then a game
- 1:10Speaker 2: called Foxy for a friend of ours who likes Foxes.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And then do you remember POGs, Andy.
- 1:17Speaker 1: POGs, POGs, POGs, POGs with those Yeah?
- 1:20Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:20Speaker 1: As a matter of fact, I had a pog with
- 1:22Speaker 1: my face on it. It was me and my old
- 1:25Speaker 1: morning show partner. They were to hand out these POGs
- 1:27Speaker 1: and it was me and Barry on these POGs. I
- 1:30Speaker 1: think I still have a few somewhere.
- 1:32Speaker 2: So POGs were very popular when I was in grade school,
- 1:34Speaker 2: so this would have been mid nineties, late nineties, right,
- 1:38Speaker 2: And one of the games that I play, called Dice
- 1:41Speaker 2: THROWNE was t teas like two years ago an April
- 1:45Speaker 2: Fool's joke called slam Thrown, a pog version of their
- 1:50Speaker 2: game where you have a metal slammer and you slam
- 1:54Speaker 2: down to do damage and stuffing that, And this year
- 1:57Speaker 2: at gen Con they're like, no longer in Apris Fool's joke.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Here it is, you can buy it.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They actually came out with the game all right. For
- 2:04Speaker 1: our listeners that have tuned in Now, last year we
- 2:06Speaker 1: talked about gen Con, and you should talked.
- 2:08Speaker 2: About gen Con. Since I've been on the show, I've
- 2:10Speaker 2: gone the last ten.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Years, So tell us about every year where it's at
- 2:14Speaker 1: and you know what it's all about.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So gen Con is kind of is dubbed as the
- 2:18Speaker 2: best four days in gaming. It's a tabletop RPG, fantasy
- 2:24Speaker 2: card game, tabletop RPG, you know, whatever you name it anything,
- 2:27Speaker 2: board game related, tabletop gaming convention. It's held in Indianapolis
- 2:32Speaker 2: at the Indianapolis Convention Center. It takes over the Convention
- 2:35Speaker 2: Center and it takes over Lucas Oil Stadium.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Would you say, Sean with so many devices, with so
- 2:41Speaker 1: many announcements, you know, consoles switched to the whole bit?
- 2:46Speaker 1: Is desktop gaming as far as playing on a tabletop
- 2:51Speaker 1: you know, like Dungeons of Dragons Traveler that type, is
- 2:54Speaker 1: that still popular?
- 2:57Speaker 2: So it hasn't broke through into this convention as big
- 3:03Speaker 2: as you think it was, as big as you think
- 3:05Speaker 2: it would. There are some parts of it that there
- 3:08Speaker 2: are some people who bring in, like some computer based
- 3:11Speaker 2: RPG games or some computer based role playing games. So
- 3:15Speaker 2: like some states, some people had some space games where
- 3:18Speaker 2: everybody sated a computer and did a different part of
- 3:21Speaker 2: the ship and involved they did like a role playing
- 3:23Speaker 2: scenario where you flew through the flu ship and stuff
- 3:25Speaker 2: like that. But as far as like video games and
- 3:28Speaker 2: things like that, not here, not a gen gun.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Really, it's just board.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Games, card games, tabletops, RPGs, fantasy games.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So there's still a lot of people. There's still a
- 3:39Speaker 1: lot of people playing these type of games versus you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: plug you know, using something on a screen. They're using
- 3:46Speaker 1: their creativity more than.
- 3:48Speaker 2: You would think to be honest, and it's it's very popular.
- 3:53Speaker 2: And there are a lot of familiar titles that have
- 3:57Speaker 2: popular ips like Marvel and and Spider Man, and you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: you got to get into a lot of those ips
- 4:03Speaker 2: that have a lot. But then there's also games that
- 4:05Speaker 2: they just have their own ips. There's their own, they're
- 4:08Speaker 2: their own, like Everdell has. There's about a dozen games
- 4:11Speaker 2: in the Everdell series.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Right, I own.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I own the complete collection, plus the two new ones
- 4:15Speaker 2: they just came out. Yeah, I'm just a bit. I
- 4:18Speaker 2: have a lot of boarder games, as indicated by that
- 4:21Speaker 2: picture that's just by my table. You can see the
- 4:24Speaker 2: shelf off that here.
- 4:24Speaker 1: I'll put it back up yeah, let's see that kind
- 4:26Speaker 1: of see get that when you went after the.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Right there's a there's an Ikea shelf over there that
- 4:30Speaker 2: is full. It's a it's a six by six shelf.
- 4:33Speaker 2: It's full of boarder games. Right, And you can see
- 4:35Speaker 2: more more board games on the back wall, more more
- 4:37Speaker 2: magic cards on the left side. I've got a whole
- 4:39Speaker 2: room in my basement dedicated to this stuff.
- 4:41Speaker 1: So now, how long, like you're playing one of these
- 4:43Speaker 1: games for our listeners that maybe have never thought, hey,
- 4:46Speaker 1: this might be fun to do with, you know, the kids,
- 4:49Speaker 1: or maybe you know with a group of friends. You know,
- 4:51Speaker 1: how long can one of these games last? I mean,
- 4:54Speaker 1: so you start a game, can you have it go
- 4:56Speaker 1: a couple hours? Or can they That's the.
- 4:58Speaker 2: That's that's the beauty about board game, right. You can
- 5:00Speaker 2: find your niche. You can find the game that takes
- 5:02Speaker 2: five six hours to play if you really wanted to.
- 5:05Speaker 2: But a lot of the games are dialed into like
- 5:08Speaker 2: thirty to forty minutes, an hour, hour and a half.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It all depends on the technique that you know. Some
- 5:14Speaker 2: people like complicated games, some people like fast paced games.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Some people like turn based games. Some people like cooperative
- 5:20Speaker 2: games some people like you versus the games. Everybody has
- 5:23Speaker 2: their own version of what they want to play, like
- 5:26Speaker 2: the style that they're their gameplay, what they like. So
- 5:28Speaker 2: there's tons of games for everybody. Not all the games.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Not all games are for everybody. There are games that
- 5:32Speaker 2: I don't like playing because it's not my style. But
- 5:35Speaker 2: I have a pretty wide variety of pretty wide range
- 5:38Speaker 2: because I just like games in general. But yeah, I
- 5:40Speaker 2: would say my favorite is like high Fantasy turn based.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Is there one one game, like, say, at gen Con,
- 5:46Speaker 1: you know, you look at well comic Con, everybody's talking
- 5:48Speaker 1: about the movies, They're talking about the comics, they're talking
- 5:51Speaker 1: about TV shows, streaming stuff. I mean, George Lucas made
- 5:55Speaker 1: an appearance at San Diego Comic Con, and it was
- 5:58Speaker 1: like everybody wanted to talk about this because you know,
- 6:01Speaker 1: he's got such a huge fan base. At gen Con,
- 6:05Speaker 1: is there one game that everybody was talking about that
- 6:08Speaker 1: they said, you've got to try this. It's big? And
- 6:11Speaker 1: is there one developer bigger than the others?
- 6:13Speaker 2: Oh Man, there's so many big developers. I would say
- 6:16Speaker 2: probably the biggest one this year was another tabletop RPG
- 6:20Speaker 2: called Dagger Heart, which we've talked about on the show
- 6:22Speaker 2: before because I got into the open beta a couple
- 6:24Speaker 2: of months ago. They actually have a full production release.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And we've talked about Critical Role on the show before.
- 6:31Speaker 2: So the publisher called Darrington Press is who Critical Role
- 6:35Speaker 2: Stouter started. They started the publishing company called Darrington Press
- 6:38Speaker 2: and they released their own Dice based ARPG system called
- 6:42Speaker 2: dagger Heart. So that is big. It's fully released now
- 6:46Speaker 2: and they're already talking about future pieces, expansions, character updates,
- 6:52Speaker 2: et cetera. And we actually went to a live show
- 6:54Speaker 2: in Fisher's, Indiana, which is just north of Indianapolis. It
- 6:58Speaker 2: was a live play through of dagger Heart with the
- 7:01Speaker 2: Critical Role cast.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And they announced that they announced their new campaign, which
- 7:06Speaker 2: is a campaign four. It's rumored to be in the
- 7:10Speaker 2: dagger Heart series. They've been playing D and D five
- 7:13Speaker 2: E for the last three campaigns, but it's very highly
- 7:18Speaker 2: rumored and most likely going to be Daggerhart. So it's
- 7:21Speaker 2: a whole new like, it's a whole new system that
- 7:23Speaker 2: is competing with Dungeons and Dragons at this point.
- 7:25Speaker 1: So well, it's kind of cool because I know that
- 7:29Speaker 1: it was probably a few months ago. I went to
- 7:31Speaker 1: a shopping center just outside of Marana, and it's an
- 7:34Speaker 1: outdoor shopping center and I've been trying to remember the
- 7:37Speaker 1: name of it, but they had a store in there
- 7:40Speaker 1: dedicated to what we're talking about, the games, the books,
- 7:45Speaker 1: the board games, and they do very well and there
- 7:49Speaker 1: was a lot of people that play them and a
- 7:50Speaker 1: lot of us. You know, maybe we're so wrapped up
- 7:53Speaker 1: in our words, our world. I remember my mom and
- 7:55Speaker 1: dad used to play bridge and poker with their friends
- 7:57Speaker 1: when they would come over and visit on a Saturday.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But this is something that maybe a younger said, is
- 8:03Speaker 1: getting to Is it geared the male audience or females?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Do they get involved in it as well?
- 8:08Speaker 2: It is the entire spectrum. Everybody has loved to gen
- 8:12Speaker 2: Con like it's a big part of their identity. Is
- 8:16Speaker 2: everybody's welcome. Harassments not welcome here, everybody. You get kids
- 8:21Speaker 2: all the way, I mean everybody. There's games catered to everybody.
- 8:24Speaker 2: There's games catered to specific identities, there's games just everybody.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Now. I remember I used to play Traveler and that
- 8:33Speaker 1: was for our devices, so it was a lot of fun.
- 8:36Speaker 1: It was you know, a role playing your roll the
- 8:38Speaker 1: dice and then it was fun. I remember that this
- 8:41Speaker 1: is many many years ago. Now I'm wondering, though, have
- 8:44Speaker 1: we seen a kind of emerging of the board games
- 8:48Speaker 1: with technology, so like somebody might need your smartphone for
- 8:52Speaker 1: a certain piece of that. And of course, if they
- 8:54Speaker 1: do add ons like you had mentioned, maybe a brand
- 8:57Speaker 1: new series. These games aren't just you open the ball
- 8:59Speaker 1: like scrabble. You open the box, you play it, and
- 9:01Speaker 1: then you're done. You could have different adventures or different scenarios, right.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah, So there are usually expansions for games, and a
- 9:12Speaker 2: big thing for me for a lot of games is replayability,
- 9:16Speaker 2: so being able to play a game and come back
- 9:19Speaker 2: to it and have a different experience. Right, So you
- 9:22Speaker 2: play it once with your friends, you have a completely
- 9:24Speaker 2: different outcome. You play it the next time with a
- 9:28Speaker 2: different group, completely different outcome because it's all based on
- 9:31Speaker 2: random number generation and dice rolling and things like that.
- 9:35Speaker 2: So there's not a lot of games. There's a lot
- 9:39Speaker 2: of game popular games that have digital versions. Ticket to Ride,
- 9:42Speaker 2: Cotan Dice Don't's coming out with a digital version. There
- 9:46Speaker 2: are ways to play these games online, right.
- 9:48Speaker 1: How about battlefield sir?
- 9:52Speaker 2: So you want to talk about space based or military
- 9:55Speaker 2: based games. You're starting to get into things like Warhammer
- 9:59Speaker 2: and uh you know other other miniature based games like
- 10:02Speaker 2: that Warhammered, uh Stars, uh Star Wars, uh Legion, a
- 10:07Speaker 2: couple other like miniature based dice rolling, tactical turn by
- 10:11Speaker 2: turn based games, and there's a ton there's a ton
- 10:13Speaker 2: of that stuff too. So gen Con has everything. Man,
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm telling you, if if you're into if you're into
- 10:17Speaker 2: anything related to board games, or maybe if you think like,
- 10:20Speaker 2: oh my board games, stop at Monopoly, Like there's a
- 10:22Speaker 2: whole new world out there for you.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Kind of think that last year when you had gone,
- 10:27Speaker 1: you had sent some photos. There's cosplay that happens, So
- 10:31Speaker 1: there are people that really get into it and they
- 10:33Speaker 1: dress up in costumes. Did you see a lot of that.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Uh yeah, yeah, So there's a lot. And like again,
- 10:41Speaker 2: it's it's across. There's so many genres, so it's not
- 10:44Speaker 2: like you're going to something that's just a specific ip, right,
- 10:47Speaker 2: So you have people that are dress up as characters
- 10:49Speaker 2: you may have never even heard of, but it's from
- 10:50Speaker 2: their favorite series or favorite game. And we went to
- 10:53Speaker 2: the Critical Role Live Show, and the Critical Role Live
- 10:56Speaker 2: Show is just a whole different sub sect of the community,
- 11:00Speaker 2: right right, it's a lot of creative people. The costplay
- 11:02Speaker 2: there was so much better than costplay I've seen other
- 11:05Speaker 2: places because they're so dedicated. They're so focused on one
- 11:09Speaker 2: ip and you just saw characters from that series and
- 11:13Speaker 2: there's a whole. There's a whole. They do a parade
- 11:16Speaker 2: through the convention center with all the costplay and then
- 11:19Speaker 2: they do a contest too, so you can go in
- 11:21Speaker 2: and watch the contest and you can win prizes and
- 11:24Speaker 2: stuff like that for best best dress and all that stuff.
- 11:27Speaker 1: That's pretty cool. Now, do you have a favorite? You know,
- 11:30Speaker 1: for our listeners that are thinking, well, I'm gonna go
- 11:32Speaker 1: check out this store in Morana or they want to
- 11:34Speaker 1: go online and maybe order one of these, Do you
- 11:36Speaker 1: have a favorite that maybe somebody who wants to get
- 11:38Speaker 1: into this or try it. What would be a game
- 11:40Speaker 1: that they they should start with? And what is your favorite?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Right now?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Oh man, that is a loaded, loaded question, right It's
- 11:48Speaker 2: because it's it's it's you have everybody's different, right, So
- 11:52Speaker 2: I will tell everybody to try a game at least once,
- 11:54Speaker 2: because because you might find that you like it. You
- 11:56Speaker 2: might find that, you know, if you're interested in board games.
- 11:58Speaker 2: I would tell you dice th Own is one to
- 12:01Speaker 2: get into pretty quick if you like dice rolling games.
- 12:04Speaker 2: A little bit of tactical uh, player versus player player verse,
- 12:08Speaker 2: the environment, player versus the game. They have a Marvel set,
- 12:11Speaker 2: they have an x Men set, they have their own
- 12:13Speaker 2: eye characters in the series. I have a ton of that.
- 12:16Speaker 2: That one's fun. The Everdell series is a fantasy worker
- 12:21Speaker 2: placement game where you collec resources and try and build
- 12:23Speaker 2: your own little world, your own little town inside Everdell,
- 12:27Speaker 2: and compete for resources against other players. They make a
- 12:30Speaker 2: version of that called My Little Everdell, which is like
- 12:32Speaker 2: for ages six and up. Really so, but if you're
- 12:38Speaker 2: interested in learning the Everdell series, like the core mechanics
- 12:41Speaker 2: of Everdell, that's your go to. I bought it two
- 12:44Speaker 2: years of gen Con because I had never played Everdell.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I have a friend who's obsessed with it. She told me,
- 12:49Speaker 2: if you want to learn how to play Everdell by this,
- 12:51Speaker 2: you're gonna love it. Bought it at gen Con. My
- 12:53Speaker 2: friend Steve and I figured out how to play it,
- 12:56Speaker 2: and I was like, this game is awesome. Last last
- 12:59Speaker 2: year I bought the whole complete collection of Everdell, which
- 13:02Speaker 2: was like eight games within the whole box. You remember
- 13:06Speaker 2: I showed you that big box.
- 13:07Speaker 1: That was a huge, huge box.
- 13:09Speaker 2: That huge box it has like it has all the
- 13:12Speaker 2: Everdel games in it, plus the expansions in the Collector's
- 13:16Speaker 2: editions of all the games too. So then they added
- 13:20Speaker 2: a new version of Everdell this past year called Silver Frost,
- 13:23Speaker 2: which I bought and then got. I got to meet
- 13:25Speaker 2: and talk with the husband and wife who developed Everdell,
- 13:29Speaker 2: and they signed the player guide for me and signed
- 13:32Speaker 2: the inside of the box. And then Caitlin when she
- 13:35Speaker 2: came down because she came with me for one day
- 13:37Speaker 2: this year, she saw an Everdell Duo, which is a
- 13:41Speaker 2: just a one v one you play against the other person.
- 13:45Speaker 2: It's based the same core mechanics, but you're fighting just
- 13:48Speaker 2: it's just one on one. It's not four player, it's
- 13:51Speaker 2: just a two player version of Everdel. But there's so
- 13:54Speaker 2: many good games. I mean, I don't know where to start.
- 13:56Speaker 2: But if you want party games, I liked, I like,
- 13:59Speaker 2: I have a lot of party games. So there's like
- 14:01Speaker 2: a game called Sushi Go. It's it sounds it sounds funny,
- 14:07Speaker 2: it's a game where it's a game where you try
- 14:10Speaker 2: and collect different types of sushi. And it's a party game,
- 14:14Speaker 2: so you could be two to eight players, so you
- 14:16Speaker 2: can have eight players at the same time fighting for sushi.
- 14:19Speaker 2: It's really incredibly fun. Oh god, there's so many good
- 14:22Speaker 2: games Andy, I don't even know where to start.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's mainly jen Con is mainly adventure games. You're not
- 14:29Speaker 1: gonna find games like Cards against Humanity, which a few
- 14:32Speaker 1: years ago.
- 14:33Speaker 2: But you'll find Yeah, you'll find Card against Humanity. You'll
- 14:37Speaker 2: find all sorts of those kinds of games. You'll find
- 14:39Speaker 2: anything tabletop related this year, so you'll find Card against
- 14:42Speaker 2: the Humanity. You'll find the really kind of crude and
- 14:46Speaker 2: humorous ones like Joking Hazard Uh. If you're familiar with
- 14:50Speaker 2: the comic Cyanide and Happiness, Yes online they have. They
- 14:54Speaker 2: created a card game a handful of years ago. They
- 14:56Speaker 2: actually created several Trial by Trolley, which is another really
- 14:59Speaker 2: fun one. There's so many good games, like I could
- 15:02Speaker 2: just show you my shelf and tell you why these
- 15:04Speaker 2: games are all good. Right, But then there's table there's
- 15:07Speaker 2: RPG's right, so you've got Dungeons and Dragons, Dagger Heart,
- 15:12Speaker 2: Call of Cthulhu Eat the Reich. I mean, there's so
- 15:16Speaker 2: many good RPG games that are out there that I
- 15:19Speaker 2: don't even know about because I wasn't super into other art,
- 15:22Speaker 2: tabletop barbieges besides D and D for a long time.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Now, if you've never been, uh, you've never played D
- 15:28Speaker 1: and D, right, and the actual Dungeons and Dragons, is
- 15:31Speaker 1: that something you know? I don't want to call it newbies,
- 15:34Speaker 1: but is that something that they can get into pretty
- 15:37Speaker 1: easily with a small girl friends.
- 15:39Speaker 2: So, Dungeons and Dragons has been around for a long time.
- 15:42Speaker 2: In twenty fifteen, I think twenty fifteen, they announced a
- 15:47Speaker 2: new version of Dungeons and Dragons, right, because you had
- 15:49Speaker 2: D and D three point five, then Dungeons Dragons four
- 15:53Speaker 2: E which came out, and then they announced it was
- 15:56Speaker 2: originally called D and D Next, but then they called
- 15:59Speaker 2: it five E, fifth editionion and it kind of became
- 16:04Speaker 2: a very rudimentary way to get people involved. It was
- 16:07Speaker 2: a simpler set of rules, condensed everything. They started making
- 16:10Speaker 2: these starter kits, starter boxes that were one shot modules,
- 16:14Speaker 2: pre generated character sheets, things that made it really easy
- 16:16Speaker 2: to get into D and D without having a D
- 16:18Speaker 2: and D knowledge. Also spurned by stranger things. Right things
- 16:24Speaker 2: came out. They were playing D and D in the
- 16:25Speaker 2: show that you saw a big You saw a big
- 16:27Speaker 2: uprising in popularity from that show. Plus you started seeing
- 16:32Speaker 2: a trend where you had a lot of podcasters coming
- 16:35Speaker 2: in doing play a live place. So you had critical
- 16:39Speaker 2: role coming in around twenty fifteen doing D and D
- 16:42Speaker 2: five E coming from Pathfinder, which is another tabletop version,
- 16:46Speaker 2: another D and D style version of a game called Pathfinder.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Different rules set, different rules, its own core world, its
- 16:52Speaker 2: own system. Then five E became very popular. Now there
- 16:55Speaker 2: are more podcasts than you can count on. Dungeons Dragons
- 17:00Speaker 2: now slowly turning into a little bit more dagger Heart
- 17:02Speaker 2: because Daggerhart just came out. It's a little bit more popular.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I think it's incredible. It's an incredible system. I think
- 17:09Speaker 2: Daggerheart's a little bit more user friendly for new players.
- 17:12Speaker 2: So I think I said this about D and D.
- 17:15Speaker 2: I know Matt plays D and D. I know Justin's
- 17:17Speaker 2: maybe played once or twice, maybe you played a handful
- 17:20Speaker 2: of years ago, back in the day. I would like
- 17:22Speaker 2: to do a tech talk radio one shot I got
- 17:26Speaker 2: to it, I would run it. You me, Matt and
- 17:28Speaker 2: you me, Matt and Justin, and I think it'd be incredible.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That would be a blast.
- 17:35Speaker 2: But I think with Daggerhart. I think with dagger Heart
- 17:37Speaker 2: we'd be able to just drop in and do it.
- 17:39Speaker 2: I think it it'd be fun to do one in
- 17:40Speaker 2: five E and one in Daggerhart and then compare for
- 17:42Speaker 2: new players the systems. But yeah, I mean there's so
- 17:46Speaker 2: many good, good shows. And what I like about gen
- 17:49Speaker 2: Con is that you get to go and meet the
- 17:52Speaker 2: people that make these games, because they like playing games
- 17:55Speaker 2: just as much as you do.
- 17:55Speaker 1: That's why they created it. Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah. And then there's one group that I picked up
- 18:01Speaker 2: a version of one of their games called The Darkest Dream,
- 18:04Speaker 2: which was a it's a module for five E. So
- 18:06Speaker 2: it's a book maps character, background story, you know, world
- 18:10Speaker 2: and building, and it was incredible. It was called Gooey
- 18:13Speaker 2: Gouey Cube. They're based out of Colorado, right met them there,
- 18:17Speaker 2: loved their books. They you know, they said, hey, come
- 18:19Speaker 2: check out our little show that we do. We're doing
- 18:21Speaker 2: this little like game show style. We're going to bring
- 18:24Speaker 2: in some D and D celebrities. We're gonna have them
- 18:26Speaker 2: play our game for a little bit and maybe give
- 18:28Speaker 2: some prizes away. That was like six years ago and
- 18:31Speaker 2: now they're probably one of the biggest five E publishers
- 18:35Speaker 2: third party publishers that exist. Wow, and their game show
- 18:38Speaker 2: sales out every year and I did it this year,
- 18:42Speaker 2: and they they have five players. They have four players
- 18:46Speaker 2: that play the game show. This year they picked team captains.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I was the team captain for one of the one
- 18:53Speaker 2: of the players, so I got to help pick because
- 18:55Speaker 2: they get the audience involved, and the audience can buy
- 18:57Speaker 2: power ups and and buy rewards and stuff, and it
- 19:00Speaker 2: was incredible I got to do that. We ended up
- 19:01Speaker 2: not winning as but it was incredibly fun and I
- 19:05Speaker 2: ended up getting some some a gift card for their store,
- 19:07Speaker 2: which I went and properly spent more than what I
- 19:10Speaker 2: probably should have at their store.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, is this an expensive hobby to get into?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yes, it can be, right, it doesn't have to be
- 19:22Speaker 2: because you can buy board games. And I think if
- 19:25Speaker 2: you go and look go to Target, Target, really Walmart wherever,
- 19:30Speaker 2: and go to their gaming section fifteen years ago, you
- 19:34Speaker 2: never would have seen a majority of the titles that
- 19:38Speaker 2: are on the shelves. You would have seen Uno, Monopoly Life. Sorry, right,
- 19:44Speaker 2: trouble you know to your typical fahaha, fun Funwer family Games,
- 19:50Speaker 2: candy Land, Shoots, the Letders, whatever. You are seeing a
- 19:53Speaker 2: majority a lot of these titles at these retailers because
- 19:58Speaker 2: they're becoming popular. Catan probably one of the most pop
- 20:01Speaker 2: if if if you talk to somebody that's into board games,
- 20:04Speaker 2: you said, what's the game that unit you like to play?
- 20:06Speaker 2: And they'll take a.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Tan, right.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Catan is It's a settler. It's a hex based building.
- 20:10Speaker 2: You restsettle and get resources and stuff. It's an incredibly
- 20:13Speaker 2: fun game. It's been around for a very long time.
- 20:16Speaker 2: I played it in grade school. It's kind of where
- 20:18Speaker 2: I got my start and this whole thing. I played
- 20:20Speaker 2: it with a youth with my youth group growing up
- 20:22Speaker 2: and kind of just kind of rooted me into game
- 20:25Speaker 2: board gaming at that time. But until I had adult money,
- 20:28Speaker 2: I didn't really have a whole lot of money to
- 20:30Speaker 2: spend on board games until after college and stuff, so
- 20:33Speaker 2: kind of got into it.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Then that's cool, all right. If our listeners gonna get
- 20:37Speaker 1: more information about it, obviously there's websites. Is there one
- 20:40Speaker 1: website maybe versus another that they could learn more about
- 20:44Speaker 1: the different games or is it really.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Bords Game, Board game geek dot com.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Board game geek dot com. All right, that's that's probably.
- 20:51Speaker 2: It's probably the best web website resource for board games.
- 20:55Speaker 2: It's gonna give you, uh information about the game. It's
- 20:59Speaker 2: gonna tell you you literally everything you need to know
- 21:01Speaker 2: about the game, where you can buy it, Reviews, articles,
- 21:07Speaker 2: they were all do they have They had a huge
- 21:08Speaker 2: booth at gen Con so they do a big review
- 21:11Speaker 2: every year. But you can sign in, build a profile,
- 21:15Speaker 2: and put all of your games in there and then
- 21:17Speaker 2: find other people that play those games and talk about them.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Oh wow, I want to play if you want to
- 21:22Speaker 2: play online?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that was that was gonna be my next question.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Can that be.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Board game Arena dot com?
- 21:28Speaker 1: Oh all right?
- 21:29Speaker 2: And you can play a lot of these titles online
- 21:31Speaker 2: and they keep adding more and more every day, every
- 21:33Speaker 2: you know, every time you go to there, like, oh,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I can play that game?
- 21:36Speaker 1: So how did how would that? How would that work?
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's not a digital game, it's a board game, but
- 21:40Speaker 1: you're playing online. Is it like a camera on your
- 21:43Speaker 1: board or one board?
- 21:45Speaker 2: No, it's it's a virtualized version of the board on
- 21:47Speaker 2: the It's it's you just play in the browser. And
- 21:50Speaker 2: it shows you the board and you it pops up
- 21:52Speaker 2: the cards and it's all interactive. And they have a
- 21:55Speaker 2: ton of the major major title platforms on there, and
- 21:58Speaker 2: also some of the major titles have their own versions.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Ticket to Ride Catan has their own but it's available
- 22:04Speaker 2: on Board Game Arena, gloom Haven. I mean, there are
- 22:07Speaker 2: so many good ones that just have their own digital
- 22:10Speaker 2: platforms because it makes it more accessible. Because again, in
- 22:13Speaker 2: the world of technology, in the world of knowing people
- 22:17Speaker 2: around the world, you can't always get together and collaborate
- 22:21Speaker 2: at a table. But true you're one screen away from
- 22:25Speaker 2: being able to play with your friends around the world.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So that makes it pretty cool. And that's how we
- 22:28Speaker 1: would probably do the Tech Talk Radio one.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, we would. We would do it on our website
- 22:34Speaker 2: called roll twenty right, so a website designed for it's
- 22:37Speaker 2: called the Virtual Tabletop so VTT. If you go to
- 22:41Speaker 2: my YouTube channel, you guys have probably seen me streaming
- 22:44Speaker 2: it before, where I streamed a handful of my DD
- 22:46Speaker 2: games a couple of years ago throughout my sessions that
- 22:49Speaker 2: I do. But I can make maps, I can put
- 22:51Speaker 2: in minis, I can do all dynamic lighting, I can
- 22:55Speaker 2: do all sorts of stuff, so I will build it
- 22:57Speaker 2: in there, and then with dagger Heart. There's a website
- 23:00Speaker 2: called Demiplane which has a character builder of character sheets,
- 23:04Speaker 2: interactive character sheets that you can track all of your
- 23:06Speaker 2: stats and everything online dynamically within the game, so that
- 23:10Speaker 2: when you make changes, I see them as the as
- 23:12Speaker 2: the GM and the other players can see them dynamically
- 23:16Speaker 2: and it's all virtual.
- 23:17Speaker 1: All right. Once again, that's bored great.
- 23:18Speaker 2: There's a great community around it, and it's just it's
- 23:21Speaker 2: it's so good.
- 23:22Speaker 1: All right. That's board game geek dot com.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Bord gamegeek dot com. All right, Bordgamemarina dot com.
- 23:29Speaker 2: We're all twenty dot net, demiplane dot com. And I
- 23:33Speaker 2: think we have to take a break.
- 23:36Speaker 1: All right, We are going to take a break. Some
- 23:38Speaker 1: comments made last week regarding Linux had some great responsive
- 23:43Speaker 1: feedback and social media. We'll share a couple of those
- 23:46Speaker 1: thoughts with you coming up on tech talk Radio. I'm
- 23:48Speaker 1: Andy Taylor, I'm Sean to Weird.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Follow us on Facebook at tech Talkers when we're back
- 23:54Speaker 2: now back to tech talk Radio.
- 23:57Speaker 1: During the break, Sean was showing me some of the
- 23:59Speaker 1: photos from gen Con and uh, it's actually if you
- 24:03Speaker 1: take a look at his camera, Sean, tell me what
- 24:05Speaker 1: is this picture we're looking at right now?
- 24:07Speaker 2: At gen Con, they have a vendor hall which has
- 24:10Speaker 2: all the stores from the and this is the this
- 24:13Speaker 2: is this. This is on Sunday, right of the people
- 24:18Speaker 2: waiting to get in because the vendor hall opens at
- 24:20Speaker 2: ten am every morning. And this is just the sea
- 24:24Speaker 2: of people waiting. This is day five of the con.
- 24:28Speaker 2: And this is the number of people waiting in line,
- 24:30Speaker 2: so you can kind of see it just stretches on.
- 24:33Speaker 1: And they come from all over for this the world.
- 24:36Speaker 2: So a lot of these, a lot of the vendors
- 24:38Speaker 2: are from Europe Asia. They're not just from the US
- 24:42Speaker 2: or from this they're from Like having this so close
- 24:45Speaker 2: to me here in Indianapolis is a blessing.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yeah, of course I.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Would travel to this show if it was in the
- 24:49Speaker 2: different part of the country. Right it's it's a two
- 24:52Speaker 2: and a half hour car drive for me.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Oh it's still oh wow.
- 24:55Speaker 2: But you get people flying in from all over the
- 24:56Speaker 2: country to come to gen Con, all over the world
- 24:58Speaker 2: to come to gen Con.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Amazing great photos. Again, if you haven't seen the video
- 25:03Speaker 1: up available, it's up on our websitelog blog dot tech
- 25:07Speaker 1: talk radio dot com. This past week we talked a
- 25:11Speaker 1: little bit about Linux, and I remember there's a there's
- 25:15Speaker 1: another radio show that's out there that does tech and
- 25:18Speaker 1: I remember when I heard the host make some kind
- 25:22Speaker 1: of comment regarding Linux and said that he wouldn't talk
- 25:24Speaker 1: about Linux. You didn't want to talk about it on
- 25:26Speaker 1: the show because he felt that it was a niche
- 25:29Speaker 1: and that not enough people were getting into it. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: you know, it's rare to hear, you know, other shows
- 25:35Speaker 1: talking about Linux and what it presents for you the user.
- 25:40Speaker 1: And you may be fine with Windows and you know,
- 25:42Speaker 1: you may be oh cool, and you may have already
- 25:44Speaker 1: gone to Windows eleven. You're happy with it and it
- 25:46Speaker 1: does its thing for you. Or maybe you're a Mac
- 25:49Speaker 1: user and it really doesn't affect you that much because
- 25:52Speaker 1: everything seems to work fine with Mac, right. But Linux
- 25:56Speaker 1: is something for a lot of people, and there's so
- 25:58Speaker 1: many different distributions. Justin made the comment, you know, Linux
- 26:02Speaker 1: is kind of like you have this great Linux distribution,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like Linux Mint twenty two. And it's like that meme
- 26:07Speaker 1: with the guy walking with the girl and then he's
- 26:09Speaker 1: turning around looking what he's looking at is the newest
- 26:11Speaker 1: version of Windows. And we posted that clip on a YouTube, shorts,
- 26:17Speaker 1: TikTok and other social media and it got a lot
- 26:20Speaker 1: of comments and a lot of views from people out
- 26:23Speaker 1: there that are using Linux. And I wanted to mention
- 26:26Speaker 1: some of these comments because for those that have been
- 26:29Speaker 1: on the fence about Linux, and I don't know, you
- 26:32Speaker 1: have used Linux in the past, right, Sean Oh.
- 26:35Speaker 2: I got yes, I've been using Linux for various things
- 26:38Speaker 2: for decades at this point, right.
- 26:41Speaker 1: And I know Slick who is on the show with
- 26:43Speaker 1: us quite quite often has used different distributions red hat
- 26:46Speaker 1: the whole bit when goes way back with Linux used
- 26:50Speaker 1: to carry around USB drives on you know, the things
- 26:54Speaker 1: you wrap up put it around your neck, and he'd
- 26:56Speaker 1: have like ten or twelve of them. It's a carry
- 26:59Speaker 1: over out. But so with the comments that Justin had
- 27:04Speaker 1: made on the social media, some of the comments Jarreff
- 27:08Speaker 1: Fox wrote, Linux unlimited customization runs almost everything, open source
- 27:13Speaker 1: alternatives for almost everything that doesn't work or is not free.
- 27:18Speaker 1: Windows familiar and easy and intrusive and very virus friendly.
- 27:24Speaker 1: You know, it's pretty accurate, because I mean, it's not
- 27:28Speaker 1: to say that the Linux community does not have to
- 27:30Speaker 1: deal with you know, spyware, malware viruses, the whole bit.
- 27:35Speaker 1: But it is pretty accurate that Windows becomes a giant
- 27:38Speaker 1: target number one for its huge user base, although that's
- 27:41Speaker 1: decreased over time. We saw a report recently and said
- 27:45Speaker 1: that the number of people that have left the Windows
- 27:47Speaker 1: platform was quite substantial. There's another one here from Brossia.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Chill says, I can understand the appeal of Linux, but
- 27:55Speaker 1: as a daily driver, I've always used Windows and can't
- 27:58Speaker 1: force myself to switch. I think we get used to
- 28:02Speaker 1: some of the programs that are out there, and you know,
- 28:04Speaker 1: the programs that run within Windows, and whether it be Office,
- 28:08Speaker 1: whether it be Adobe Suite, or whether it be you know,
- 28:12Speaker 1: any of those programs that we use under Windows. We
- 28:15Speaker 1: get so used to them we don't realize that there
- 28:17Speaker 1: are good options in Linux that people could be using.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so there's good desktop environments, right, there's so everybody.
- 28:25Speaker 2: When you think of Linux, you think of like a
- 28:28Speaker 2: hacker sitting at a computer running command line. Sure, if
- 28:32Speaker 2: you're into that, you can run a command line only
- 28:35Speaker 2: in There are Linux distributions that are command line only. Right,
- 28:39Speaker 2: You have to know how to make directories and point
- 28:42Speaker 2: and run the executables from directories and compile stuff. And
- 28:46Speaker 2: sure if you want to, if you're into that, great,
- 28:48Speaker 2: But there are a lot of distros that come natively
- 28:51Speaker 2: with a gulley that you can you can log into
- 28:54Speaker 2: and you get Firefox built in. Most often you can
- 28:57Speaker 2: download Chrome if they have a software center. Like if
- 29:01Speaker 2: you're just doing daily web browsing and maybe some minor
- 29:05Speaker 2: work processing, you would have no issue using Linux.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Absolutely open Office. There's so many there's so many third
- 29:12Speaker 1: party programs out there that are available on the that
- 29:15Speaker 1: will run on the Linux platform that are either free
- 29:19Speaker 1: or not very expensive, and you could get the free
- 29:22Speaker 1: version to see how it's gonna work for you, and
- 29:24Speaker 1: then maybe expand to a version that can provide a
- 29:27Speaker 1: little more you know, customization and maybe for what you want.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Alternative too, and we may have mentioned this last week.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Does that have you know an area where hey, if
- 29:38Speaker 1: you're running Linux, this is my work for you. Yes,
- 29:41Speaker 1: So alternative to dot net as a site you can
- 29:46Speaker 1: go to if you run a program like maybe you're
- 29:49Speaker 1: using Adobe Photoshop and with the change the software and
- 29:52Speaker 1: services it got a little expensive. You decided, Man, I
- 29:55Speaker 1: haven't a hard time with this, but I want to
- 29:56Speaker 1: be able to adjust my photos. Yes, our smartphones can
- 29:59Speaker 1: do a lot of that, but you know, there's other
- 30:01Speaker 1: programs out there like Gimp, and I don't know if
- 30:03Speaker 1: there's you know that'll that'll run under that. There's other
- 30:06Speaker 1: programs that'll run under these great environments.
- 30:09Speaker 2: On alternative too. I just typed in what is what
- 30:12Speaker 2: is alternative to Linux Mint, which is one of my
- 30:14Speaker 2: favorite distributions. Now I've used a lot, right, I've used
- 30:18Speaker 2: a BUN two, I've USEDDBN, but Linix Mint just just
- 30:21Speaker 2: the most user friendly less It's just it just works
- 30:25Speaker 2: and it's a quickly.
- 30:26Speaker 1: I got it to run on a CD if you know,
- 30:28Speaker 1: if you if you want to on an old laptop
- 30:30Speaker 1: it it'll work great.
- 30:31Speaker 2: But I put it in there were one hundred and
- 30:32Speaker 2: seventy seven different alternatives to Linux Mint.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Oh wow, what does that tell you? Yeah, go go
- 30:38Speaker 1: down the hole?
- 30:39Speaker 2: Right?
- 30:39Speaker 1: Another comment there, Linux is great if you're unemployed and
- 30:41Speaker 1: have nothing better to do than fight your operating system.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Twenty four to seven. I don't know if that one
- 30:48Speaker 1: can be one hundred percent true. Kobe, I think had
- 30:51Speaker 1: written that one because I think, honestly, you're gonna find
- 30:54Speaker 1: a different distribution may solve some of the issues you've
- 30:57Speaker 1: been having that may be a lot easier.
- 31:00Speaker 2: You gotta find one, find one that is built for
- 31:02Speaker 2: people that don't want to learn Linux. So I mean, yes,
- 31:06Speaker 2: there is some fundamental understanding you have to have. It's
- 31:10Speaker 2: not Windows. You're not gonna be able to go to
- 31:12Speaker 2: a website, download their file and install it for Windows
- 31:16Speaker 2: because the one they might not have it. Two they
- 31:18Speaker 2: might have a Linux installer for it. If you get
- 31:21Speaker 2: a good distribution of Linux that has a guy that
- 31:24Speaker 2: makes it easy to install stuff.
- 31:25Speaker 1: You're gonna be just fine.
- 31:27Speaker 2: But every version of Linux allows you to take that
- 31:30Speaker 2: step into the deep end and run your own command
- 31:33Speaker 2: line in their faces if you want, build it out
- 31:36Speaker 2: from there. But the benefit of Linux is it runs
- 31:40Speaker 2: on everything. You've got a ten year old laptop laying
- 31:43Speaker 2: around that you don't know what to do with, slap
- 31:45Speaker 2: us hard driving it, get it to the highest amount
- 31:47Speaker 2: of ramu R CPU can support. Put Linux on it. Yeah,
- 31:51Speaker 2: it's gonna run.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Got the old computer to.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Get some life into an old computer. If you want,
- 31:55Speaker 2: you give it to your kid to play with. Like
- 31:57Speaker 2: I'm excited for all. I mean, I've got tons of
- 31:59Speaker 2: computers in my house. Reals that I'm excited for when
- 32:02Speaker 2: Max can just break down a computer and put Linux
- 32:05Speaker 2: on it and have fun and destroy it and riddle
- 32:08Speaker 2: it with malware and like learn how to learn how
- 32:11Speaker 2: to you know, do stuff on a Linux computer. Like
- 32:14Speaker 2: that's where I started right so long ago, and still
- 32:20Speaker 2: doss at that point. But such so much of our
- 32:22Speaker 2: stuff in the industry runs on Linux back end servers
- 32:25Speaker 2: and stuff like that. Having a fundamental understanding of the
- 32:29Speaker 2: basics of Linux is important. Do I know how to
- 32:32Speaker 2: deep dive and like code stuff and do all my
- 32:37Speaker 2: own software development? Get no, But I can at least
- 32:41Speaker 2: step in the right direction and say, okay, here's where
- 32:43Speaker 2: our problem lies, and then go to the developer and say, look,
- 32:46Speaker 2: it's screwing up this directory by when I install this
- 32:49Speaker 2: file or run this thing, it goes, you know, and
- 32:51Speaker 2: then they can figure it out from there.
- 32:52Speaker 1: But some some there were some great comments, and I
- 32:56Speaker 1: want to thank everybody who did take the time to
- 32:58Speaker 1: leave a comment, whether it be ond TikTok or YouTube.
- 33:01Speaker 1: But I like this one and it makes sense, And
- 33:04Speaker 1: tell me if this is the truth. Linux is a
- 33:06Speaker 1: great operating system. I've used it for decades. The problem
- 33:09Speaker 1: I found that it's got a very toxic community. If
- 33:13Speaker 1: you don't know something, don't ask in a forum, you'll
- 33:17Speaker 1: most likely get ridiculed till you leave. There's very little
- 33:21Speaker 1: help for newbies.
- 33:23Speaker 2: And that's why I like chat GPT.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, because absolutely I can ask chat.
- 33:29Speaker 2: GPT the question and it gives me the answer.
- 33:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:34Speaker 2: It doesn't say go get a book, or doesn't say
- 33:37Speaker 2: go to coding school or figure it out yourself. But
- 33:41Speaker 2: that's true of any hobby that.
- 33:44Speaker 1: There's always somebody in that hobby, whether it be radio
- 33:47Speaker 1: control or drone flying, the whole bit. If you join
- 33:50Speaker 1: a group, there might be somebody in there that knows
- 33:53Speaker 1: more than you, and they'll lay like.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Everybody on every forum that just says use Google. Yeah, Well,
- 33:59Speaker 2: if I wanted to be part of the community, why
- 34:03Speaker 2: in the heck am I going to go to Google?
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 34:05Speaker 2: Why can't I interact with the community and get advice
- 34:07Speaker 2: from other people in the community that may have had
- 34:09Speaker 2: these struggles when I started. That's what I hate about
- 34:12Speaker 2: online forums. There's no sense of community. It's it's just
- 34:16Speaker 2: me against you figure it out yourself. Google it. I
- 34:18Speaker 2: don't want to take the time to help you figure
- 34:20Speaker 2: it out yourself.
- 34:21Speaker 1: And it happens in every community. That's the Linux community though,
- 34:24Speaker 1: but a Linux it's it's photography. I've seen that photography.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I've seen the people everything.
- 34:30Speaker 2: Yeah did everything?
- 34:31Speaker 1: Uh and Chad gbt well, some people will say, oh,
- 34:36Speaker 1: I'm not using that. I'll tell you it's helped in coding.
- 34:40Speaker 1: I have seen. I've put in stuff where I said, hey,
- 34:42Speaker 1: how can I clean this code up? And it will
- 34:45Speaker 1: tell it'll go through and tell you how to do it.
- 34:48Speaker 1: It's been to me, it's been Okay, this is really helpful.
- 34:52Speaker 1: That's why I am hoping in schools that they are
- 34:56Speaker 1: really gonna go ahead and make this a part of
- 34:59Speaker 1: the curriculum, or they teach the proper prompting and use
- 35:03Speaker 1: of chat GPT to get the most out of out
- 35:07Speaker 1: of AI whatever, you know, whatever platform they're using, because
- 35:12Speaker 1: there is chattpt isn't the only game in town, but
- 35:15Speaker 1: honestly so that they can learn.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yeah. And my favorite thing to see on forums and
- 35:21Speaker 2: and threads and stuff is have you ever had somebody
- 35:23Speaker 2: just send you a link to the let me google
- 35:25Speaker 2: that for you.
- 35:26Speaker 1: No, I haven't is.
- 35:28Speaker 2: There is a website that you can go to. It's
- 35:30Speaker 2: called let me Google that dot com.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Really okay, you type, you.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Type in what you wanted to search, and then you
- 35:37Speaker 2: send them a link. Right opens up Google and it
- 35:40Speaker 2: types it in and hits search for you. So you
- 35:42Speaker 2: click on the automatically opens Google types in what you
- 35:45Speaker 2: wanted to say in searches.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Now, I know you're on Reddit. Do you do you
- 35:49Speaker 1: find that type of community that that toxic kind of
- 35:53Speaker 1: feeling something the whole website you mean or read it? Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 1: the whole website is overally.
- 36:01Speaker 2: You have to you have to take Reddit with a
- 36:03Speaker 2: grain of salt, right, any any community on Reddit. Some
- 36:07Speaker 2: of them are okay, yeah, a lot of them are
- 36:11Speaker 2: are full. Are full. It's this is your first time
- 36:15Speaker 2: on the internet, Andy, Like, I mean.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I've caught some of that, but you know, I just
- 36:21Speaker 1: it's it's yeah. I've been in radio many years and
- 36:24Speaker 1: I've had people that have come up to me right
- 36:26Speaker 1: to my face that said I don't like you on
- 36:28Speaker 1: the radio. You know that that'll bit that happens, and
- 36:31Speaker 1: you've got a smile, just say, okay.
- 36:33Speaker 2: It's every industry, every hobby, everybody's got them right, you know.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I just I'll always answer questions for people as honestly
- 36:42Speaker 2: and truthfully as they can.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Well, when we did started doing the show too, we
- 36:46Speaker 1: would get that, you know, you get somebody would call
- 36:48Speaker 1: in and they would ask a question, and then we
- 36:51Speaker 1: give the answer, and then somebody else would call in
- 36:53Speaker 1: and say, you gave the wrong answer. This is the answer.
- 36:57Speaker 1: I mean, that's gonna help.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Then you you do your own show. That okay, bye,
- 37:02Speaker 2: you want to be the face of the show, Go
- 37:03Speaker 2: away and ahead, make your own show, all right.
- 37:05Speaker 1: New products. We love talking about new stuff, especially when
- 37:09Speaker 1: it comes to drones, photography, the whole bit. There's some
- 37:12Speaker 1: new stuff we want to tell you about. We got
- 37:14Speaker 1: a listener question as well that we're going to go
- 37:15Speaker 1: over two of them when we come back with tech
- 37:18Speaker 1: talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean Dea Whirred.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Follow us on Instagram at tech talk Radio.
- 37:23Speaker 1: We love your right back and now back to tech
- 37:26Speaker 1: talk Radio.
- 37:29Speaker 2: During the break, we kind of went through a couple
- 37:30Speaker 2: of listener questions. We're gonna read a couple here, and
- 37:33Speaker 2: we've got Dave right and say where Dave's from but
- 37:36Speaker 2: somewhere in there, David da I would say it wrong.
- 37:43Speaker 2: So Dave has a new laptop, right, and it's in
- 37:46Speaker 2: Windows S mode.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:49Speaker 2: And when Andy told me what this question was and
- 37:51Speaker 2: I read it, I was like, what, yeah, what what
- 37:53Speaker 2: is Windows?
- 37:54Speaker 1: You haven't had to deal with Windows.
- 37:56Speaker 2: You had to deal with Windows sight, right, Okay, we're
- 37:58Speaker 2: doing when it was eleven, right, but now it's Windows eleven.
- 38:01Speaker 1: S all right, or Windows TENNIS stands.
- 38:04Speaker 2: For Windows eleven Secure.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Yeah, all right. So Dave's question says, I have no
- 38:10Speaker 1: idea what that is, but a buddy at work said,
- 38:14Speaker 1: get rid of it.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Simplified secure, switchable. That's what it means, which is it's
- 38:22Speaker 2: a limiting version of Windows. It's like parental controls for Windows.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Exactly what it is. And people have been buying these
- 38:27Speaker 1: laptops with Windows S on it, not realizing that there
- 38:31Speaker 1: is some limitations to it.
- 38:33Speaker 2: But what they don't know is it's actually Windows eleven.
- 38:37Speaker 2: It's just in S mode. So you can if you
- 38:40Speaker 2: really want to, and you should, in my opinion, follow
- 38:45Speaker 2: the steps. I found it just a quick Google search,
- 38:48Speaker 2: which we talked about Google in the last episode. I
- 38:50Speaker 2: googled it. Tech Radar has a great article about it.
- 38:54Speaker 2: There's hand vision a dozen articles about it right off
- 38:57Speaker 2: the rip on Google on how to get out of
- 38:59Speaker 2: wind that mode. All right, but according to the article,
- 39:02Speaker 2: it's going to scare you. Yeah, oh, it's it's going
- 39:05Speaker 2: to threaten you. If you leave Windows asmods, you can't
- 39:08Speaker 2: go back.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Well, I think, I don't know. This is kind of
- 39:12Speaker 1: the thing that we're going through right now with the
- 39:13Speaker 1: Windows ten to Windows eleven. There's a lot of fear
- 39:16Speaker 1: going on. There's people who actually believe you should know
- 39:21Speaker 1: that your computer will not suddenly not turn on on
- 39:25Speaker 1: October fourteenth, when the support for Windows ten will supposedly
- 39:32Speaker 1: or previous versions have already gone, but when Windows ten
- 39:35Speaker 1: will no longer be considered a supporting operating system. Now
- 39:39Speaker 1: they're scaring you. They're believing if the people that believe that,
- 39:42Speaker 1: they think, oh my gosh, I got to get something
- 39:44Speaker 1: new now. The new word that they're putting out is well, no, no, no.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You could get security updates for a year, because that's
- 39:52Speaker 1: what is Windows ten will still work and you get
- 39:56Speaker 1: security updates. If you're connected to the net, you get
- 39:59Speaker 1: security updates fore year. But you gotta connect your laptop
- 40:03Speaker 1: of your desktop, whatever one you're using to one drive.
- 40:08Speaker 1: And we've talked about one drive.
- 40:11Speaker 2: We hate one drive. I hate it.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It's mucked up.
- 40:14Speaker 2: It's mucked up the last two major installations I've done
- 40:17Speaker 2: for somebody, I've had to field phone calls. Why do
- 40:21Speaker 2: I only have five gigabytes of storage on my hard drive?
- 40:25Speaker 2: What are you talking about? I tried to copy my
- 40:28Speaker 2: files over it and said it was full. I was like, full,
- 40:31Speaker 2: you've got a terabyte since I have five gigabytes and
- 40:35Speaker 2: I need to pay for more storage. As soon as
- 40:37Speaker 2: you said I have to pay for more storage, I
- 40:39Speaker 2: knew it was one drive immediately, and I was like, yep,
- 40:41Speaker 2: that out of here.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I'm beginning emails recently, uh for photos from one drive.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It says these are your daily photos. They're a month old.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I thought this is some kind of spam, but they're
- 40:53Speaker 1: my photos. They're my photos that I used on a
- 40:55Speaker 1: previous system that was connected to one drive, that were
- 40:58Speaker 1: uploaded and it's now send emailing me those photos saying,
- 41:03Speaker 1: here's the memories you have from one drive because it
- 41:06Speaker 1: wants me to use one drive and this is the
- 41:09Speaker 1: thing you shouldn't be afraid. WINDOWSS is designed to protect
- 41:14Speaker 1: your system from going out and getting third party programs
- 41:19Speaker 1: and installing them. If that program is not available in
- 41:22Speaker 1: the Windows Store, the Microsoft Store, right, whether it be
- 41:26Speaker 1: free program or a paid program, you can't install it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: It's just it's just a way to prevent people from
- 41:33Speaker 2: just installing willie nilly. It'd be great for a kid,
- 41:36Speaker 2: maybe an elderly parent that maybe doesn't know how to
- 41:38Speaker 2: stop and clicking on bad links or downloading fake programs
- 41:41Speaker 2: and stuff like that. Sure, but for the general user,
- 41:44Speaker 2: it's just going to frustrate you.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and you have to use it.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Follow the steps, get out of Windows S mode, get
- 41:50Speaker 2: on to Windows eleven, and you'll be just fine.
- 41:51Speaker 1: The other thing is you have to use their Edge
- 41:53Speaker 1: browser if you're in S mode, So that has which
- 41:56Speaker 1: is the end of world.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Right, everybody's like, oh, it's Edge. Edge is built on Chrome.
- 42:01Speaker 1: You don't like Edge.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Right, everybody's gonna have an opinion. We talked about this
- 42:08Speaker 2: last and they're in the last segment, right, every have
- 42:11Speaker 2: opinion about their browser, their favorite one, and how many
- 42:14Speaker 2: ways you can wash a sheep or skin of scirt
- 42:16Speaker 2: of skin a cat whatever, whatever the analogy.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Is, give a sheep.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Whatever, you know what I mean. But it's everybody's gonna
- 42:23Speaker 2: hate on Edge. Everyone's gonna hate on Chrome, Everyone's gonna
- 42:25Speaker 2: had on Firefox, Brave you, everybody's gonna hate on whatever
- 42:29Speaker 2: browser you use because it's not the one they use, right,
- 42:33Speaker 2: But it's Edge. It'll get you where you want to go.
- 42:36Speaker 2: It'll get you. So you can download Chrome, but do.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Not to know, and I don't mean to, you know,
- 42:41Speaker 1: go off of the left field here. I personally am
- 42:44Speaker 1: getting so tired of these programs that want to connect
- 42:48Speaker 1: with everything you do, whether it be Chrome or Edge.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I have some ManTech. I use the Norton product. I'm
- 42:57Speaker 1: like every day saying I need to drop this thing
- 43:00Speaker 1: because it's become so obtrusive, like every day pop up,
- 43:05Speaker 1: Hey let's do this, or send me twenty four dollars,
- 43:07Speaker 1: we'll do this. I just don't want anymore. I want
- 43:11Speaker 1: it to be able to just do what you want,
- 43:13Speaker 1: do what I paid for, and dow load Linux. There
- 43:18Speaker 1: you go, and I'll go back to Linux. I need
- 43:23Speaker 1: to turn this, you know, this system into a Linux box.
- 43:27Speaker 1: I'm pretty much sure we're going to do it. You know.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Right now we're trying something different too. We use Zoom.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Normally we use Zoom all the time. We like it,
- 43:36Speaker 1: we use it for our show, our video, but the
- 43:38Speaker 1: quality is not really that great. I've not been very
- 43:42Speaker 1: happy with that. And then we pay a third party
- 43:44Speaker 1: service to create these great video short videos with that
- 43:48Speaker 1: are you AI creates them? It says this would be
- 43:51Speaker 1: a great this would be a great clip. Here, this
- 43:53Speaker 1: would be a great and it gives it a scale.
- 43:55Speaker 1: We use Opus clips for that, and it's you know,
- 43:59Speaker 1: it's getting it's it's expensive. So I want to say,
- 44:02Speaker 1: maybe on four hundred bucks, we can't upgrade to FOURK
- 44:06Speaker 1: or two K even or the higher quality ten ADP
- 44:09Speaker 1: with Zoom unless we were paying something like I want
- 44:13Speaker 1: to say, two thousand dollars a year until I say, okay, ridiculous.
- 44:16Speaker 1: We're on a tight budget. So I found this program
- 44:18Speaker 1: called Riverside FM. I want to thank Scott Sands for
- 44:21Speaker 1: recommending that. Who does radio? Scott told me about this
- 44:26Speaker 1: and I looked at it and right now that's what
- 44:28Speaker 1: we're doing with our video. So we're testing it out today.
- 44:31Speaker 1: You might take a look at it and go that
- 44:32Speaker 1: looks awful, Andy, or you might say that looks really great.
- 44:35Speaker 1: You should stick with it. And it offers the environment
- 44:38Speaker 1: the same thing that Zoom does with its transcripts, with
- 44:41Speaker 1: its ability to save video, but it's saving it in
- 44:45Speaker 1: higher quality. Supposedly. We don't know yet. This is the
- 44:47Speaker 1: first time we've done it, and it will create the
- 44:50Speaker 1: clips for us rather than us having to go and
- 44:53Speaker 1: pay thirty bucks to Opus Clips for a month for
- 44:56Speaker 1: us to get the features out of that. So again,
- 45:00Speaker 1: never know, So again I may, I may, I may
- 45:02Speaker 1: jump to Linux Mint this next week, So we'll see
- 45:05Speaker 1: how that works for us next week.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and the segue off of comment you made just
- 45:08Speaker 2: a little bit ago, right, I just thought about this.
- 45:10Speaker 2: You talked about how one drive has pulled photos from
- 45:13Speaker 2: an old build because you were connected. Yeah, and it
- 45:15Speaker 2: reminded me of another software that I or another website
- 45:18Speaker 2: that I used to use for photos. Have you ever
- 45:20Speaker 2: heard of the website photobucket.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Oh? Yeah. I got emails from them for a long
- 45:23Speaker 1: time saying grab your photos you right.
- 45:26Speaker 2: So about a year ago I started getting emails from
- 45:29Speaker 2: photo Bucket and I was like, I haven't used photobucket
- 45:31Speaker 2: for ten years. They're like you've got photos and photo
- 45:35Speaker 2: buckets that are gonna be deleted if you don't pay
- 45:36Speaker 2: for five ninety nine a month. And I was like,
- 45:39Speaker 2: it's a free service. What happened? Yeah, So I bit
- 45:42Speaker 2: the bullet because they're like, you can't get access to
- 45:45Speaker 2: your photos unless you pay five ninety nine?
- 45:47Speaker 1: Are you kidding me?
- 45:48Speaker 2: You couldn't log it, You couldn't log in and to
- 45:50Speaker 2: get your photos. Nless you paid? Man, right now, I'm
- 45:52Speaker 2: curious what do I have in there from that long ago?
- 45:54Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, exactly.
- 45:56Speaker 2: And so I logged in and there were like ten
- 45:57Speaker 2: pictures from something I uploaded to read it or Divan
- 46:01Speaker 2: or like fifteen years ago. Oh. Man, right, but then
- 46:05Speaker 2: but then I forgot to cancel. Oh a month later,
- 46:10Speaker 2: I got an email saying thanks for your resubscription Photobucket.
- 46:13Speaker 2: It was like, you got me, You got me exactly
- 46:17Speaker 2: what you wanted. Here's your five all right?
- 46:20Speaker 1: So would you recommend to Dave? And one thing I
- 46:22Speaker 1: want to mention, Uh, Dave, if you do remove Windows S,
- 46:26Speaker 1: you will also get warnings that once you remove it,
- 46:29Speaker 1: you will not be able to reinstall it, all right,
- 46:33Speaker 1: So just remember that. But if you don't think it's
- 46:36Speaker 1: something you need. Yeah, you could. You could probably remove
- 46:38Speaker 1: that safely. It's not going to do you any harm
- 46:41Speaker 1: as well. Uh, all right, so we got to talk.
- 46:43Speaker 1: We got to talk about what as a dji Uh
- 46:47Speaker 1: and Instat three sixty both have had some pretty cool announcements.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, drone, some drone stuff.
- 46:56Speaker 1: All right, here we go.
- 46:57Speaker 2: So Insta three sixty up the bombshell on the industry
- 47:02Speaker 2: saying hey, here it comes. Instead three sixty we called
- 47:09Speaker 2: it adrenalinarly, that's not right. I bought that it again.
- 47:12Speaker 2: It's called the Instant three sixty Anti Gravity drone anti gravity. Now, okay,
- 47:17Speaker 2: there's not a whole lot of stats on it right now.
- 47:21Speaker 2: It's but it's got a built in three hundred and
- 47:24Speaker 2: sixty degree camera which it's expected to weigh under the
- 47:27Speaker 2: two hundred and fifty gram limit, so you don't have
- 47:30Speaker 2: to require the FAA infrastructure to register it. But they're
- 47:35Speaker 2: saying it's going to have a huge, huge flight time.
- 47:37Speaker 2: But they're saying the target launch is August, so that's soon, right,
- 47:40Speaker 2: We're in August. It's August.
- 47:41Speaker 1: Oh wow, so when is it coming? Yeah?
- 47:46Speaker 2: But there's not much more. But it's saying built in
- 47:49Speaker 2: three hundred and sixty degree eight K capture because NAB
- 47:52Speaker 2: in April they launched their new insta three sixty eight K.
- 47:58Speaker 2: But yeah, so if you think civilization, it's got, it's got.
- 48:01Speaker 2: But yeah, so then are.
- 48:03Speaker 1: We going to run into the same problems though with
- 48:04Speaker 1: into three sixties we did with dj I, you know,
- 48:08Speaker 1: with the manufacturer where they're made because of that, terroriffs
- 48:12Speaker 1: or even the complete you know, I can't get them
- 48:15Speaker 1: in the US.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I don't know, not really much info on that. But
- 48:24Speaker 2: in response, you know, DJI has a gazillion drones. Everybody
- 48:27Speaker 2: knows that, right, if you're flying a drone, it's likely
- 48:29Speaker 2: a dj I. So this will this will break into
- 48:33Speaker 2: that market and maybe put some pressure on d g I.
- 48:35Speaker 2: And not that DJI needs the competition there, their drones
- 48:38Speaker 2: are really really priced. Well, but so what's this going
- 48:42Speaker 2: to do? What market is this going to shift in
- 48:44Speaker 2: and where is it going to kind of filter in
- 48:45Speaker 2: at competition for DJI? Well, then d g I drops
- 48:50Speaker 2: the Osmo three sixty.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Right, and they've had the Osmo line for a while, yeah,
- 48:56Speaker 1: the Osma line, right, but they haven't had a three
- 48:58Speaker 1: sixty camera, has it?
- 49:00Speaker 2: They really had, They've had an act they've had an
- 49:02Speaker 2: action cam, they have three sixty, right, go Pro has
- 49:07Speaker 2: the go Pro Max, which apparently GoPros is pushing an
- 49:10Speaker 2: update for their three sexy camera. So there's this, there's
- 49:13Speaker 2: this interesting struggle. Right a decade ago, so twenty fifteen,
- 49:20Speaker 2: three sixty camps were huge, widely popular. Go to my
- 49:25Speaker 2: YouTube page and go back and look at some of
- 49:28Speaker 2: the three sixty videos I made using a Theta riok.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Theta s that that was all pictures video. You could
- 49:36Speaker 2: do it all with it, So it's not it's not
- 49:38Speaker 2: a new it's not a new technology. It's been around
- 49:39Speaker 2: for a long time. You're seeing it being used in
- 49:45Speaker 2: vertical videos to show a whole scene. So you're seeing
- 49:49Speaker 2: a lot of influencers, a lot of content creators using
- 49:52Speaker 2: three sixty cameras and showing and being able to show
- 49:57Speaker 2: different content, different angles, different clips, all from their same
- 50:01Speaker 2: video interactively. You're seeing it's wild. You're seeing a ton
- 50:06Speaker 2: of it on YouTube shorts.
- 50:07Speaker 1: So so I could be watching a video and you know,
- 50:10Speaker 1: turn my device to the right and I may be
- 50:12Speaker 1: able to see what's going on on the right.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So some of it, yes, So YouTube. You can stream
- 50:18Speaker 2: three sixty video live on YouTube. At least you have
- 50:20Speaker 2: been able to. I haven't done it in a long
- 50:21Speaker 2: time where your phone is the camera. Now that's live
- 50:27Speaker 2: right right. So that's the that's the hard part. Week
- 50:30Speaker 2: I couldn't figure out was how do you make interactive
- 50:33Speaker 2: content for YouTube with three sixty degree videos? You have
- 50:37Speaker 2: to edit them. You have to. You have to edit
- 50:39Speaker 2: and be creative and storytell within the three der sixty
- 50:41Speaker 2: degree environment. It's too much for people. We tried to
- 50:46Speaker 2: do it with news content. We tried to do it live,
- 50:49Speaker 2: but nobody wants to sit their phone and go, Okay,
- 50:51Speaker 2: what am I looking at?
- 50:52Speaker 1: Oh?
- 50:52Speaker 2: Hold on, I got to handle the right Oh there's
- 50:54Speaker 2: the action. Oh oh cool, Now so there's this guy.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Oh oh I missed it.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Yeah yeah.
- 51:00Speaker 2: So trying to generate that content, but you're seeing it
- 51:03Speaker 2: being used interactively in edited pieces a lot on YouTube shorts,
- 51:09Speaker 2: a lot on Instagram, and a lot on TikTok. So
- 51:12Speaker 2: it's interesting how much of a time period has passed
- 51:14Speaker 2: with this technology that exists has existed, and there wasn't
- 51:18Speaker 2: a market for it at first. It kind of just
- 51:19Speaker 2: fell outder the radar and everybody focused on action cams
- 51:23Speaker 2: and higher quality cameras, and you know, and now all
- 51:27Speaker 2: of a sudden, there's this huge Into three sixty kind
- 51:30Speaker 2: of just was there. They kept developing, the technology, kept
- 51:34Speaker 2: they kind of became the industry leader in three sixty, right,
- 51:38Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden it was like, whoa, hey,
- 51:40Speaker 2: why is everyone all three sixty content? Where Into three
- 51:44Speaker 2: sixty is the only one. No, there's Nikon has a
- 51:47Speaker 2: three sixty cam, Kodak made a three sixty cam, go
- 51:51Speaker 2: Pro made one. There's so many other three sixty cams
- 51:55Speaker 2: that exist that are hilarious because you think, like, oh,
- 51:58Speaker 2: this is wild, but there was no market for it,
- 52:02Speaker 2: so they just stopped developing it, and Instant three sixties
- 52:05Speaker 2: kind of kept there, and wow, now there's three major players,
- 52:08Speaker 2: go Pro, Dji and Insta.
- 52:11Speaker 1: We'll have an update maybe next week we get a
- 52:13Speaker 1: little more info about that. Maybe we'll find out an
- 52:16Speaker 1: actual release date for the Anti gravity as well. We're
- 52:18Speaker 1: going to take another quick break. We come back with
- 52:20Speaker 1: more of tech Talk Radio. I'm Andy Taylor, I'm Sean
- 52:23Speaker 1: to Weard.
- 52:24Speaker 2: Find us on the world wide Web at tech talk
- 52:26Speaker 2: radio dot com or use Google it and tell somebody
- 52:29Speaker 2: about us by making them google it.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yes and now fact the tech Talk Radio. It was
- 52:35Speaker 1: announced this week that many people who have been fans
- 52:38Speaker 1: and waiting for the next Battlefield video game, if if
- 52:41Speaker 1: you like playing games and you've played the Battlefield franchise,
- 52:45Speaker 1: that there was going to be number one release date
- 52:47Speaker 1: they got for I believe it's October tenth for Battlefield six.
- 52:50Speaker 1: But they're giving people the chance to try it out
- 52:53Speaker 1: and that's open beta.
- 52:55Speaker 2: Open beta will run over two periods of time, August
- 52:59Speaker 2: ninth and tenth in August fourteenth to seventeenth, So that
- 53:02Speaker 2: just helps them get an idea of what the server
- 53:04Speaker 2: load's going to feel like. It kind of gives you
- 53:06Speaker 2: an idea of what the game is going to feel like,
- 53:07Speaker 2: find out any game breaking bugs, that kind of stuff.
- 53:09Speaker 1: You ever done a beta like this?
- 53:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I've done betas for several games over the years,
- 53:15Speaker 2: some of the some of the original Battlefields, also Battlefield
- 53:17Speaker 2: for some of the other Blzer games that I play,
- 53:21Speaker 2: and some other just other.
- 53:22Speaker 1: You have to have like a killer system, a gaming
- 53:25Speaker 1: system to be able to do.
- 53:27Speaker 2: To be honest, I think it was like a ten
- 53:30Speaker 2: seventy TI was still like the bottom end of the spectrum.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Most people will have a little better anyways, Yeah, you
- 53:36Speaker 1: can go.
- 53:37Speaker 2: To their webs EA's website and find out what the
- 53:40Speaker 2: specs are. But cool, And then I wanted to bring
- 53:44Speaker 2: one more thing up. All right, what do you think
- 53:47Speaker 2: across the OS is? What's the market share between Windows,
- 53:52Speaker 2: Mac OS, Linux, Chrome OS and other?
- 53:56Speaker 1: Oh? Man, oh, he forgot about Chrome OS too. I
- 53:59Speaker 1: would say probably Microsoft holds the biggest piece of pie.
- 54:03Speaker 2: I would say much as the pie.
- 54:04Speaker 1: I would say it's about fifty two percent.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Seventy to seventy one percent? Is Windows?
- 54:09Speaker 1: Is it really? Still?
- 54:11Speaker 2: Wow? This is based off of stat Counter, which is
- 54:14Speaker 2: the website that it pulled from.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Right, what about Mac Mac.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Sixteen?
- 54:20Speaker 1: That's it? Linux?
- 54:22Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like, yeah, that's.
- 54:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 54:27Speaker 2: And then Chrome is Chrome?
- 54:29Speaker 1: I don't I don't know very many people that just
- 54:31Speaker 1: stick with Chrome and get unless it's a laptop for school.
- 54:35Speaker 1: That's all I think of when I think of that.
- 54:38Speaker 1: But I don't know if Windows has got to be
- 54:40Speaker 1: that much, I would think it's a little less. Well,
- 54:42Speaker 1: those numbers will change.
- 54:44Speaker 2: But for phones, Android seventy two percent, iOS twenty six percent?
- 54:49Speaker 1: Really wow? So well Android, I looked at the new
- 54:53Speaker 1: Android this past week. You got to check out the video,
