- 0:03Speaker 1: Lux Presents Hollywood. The Lux Radio Theater brings you Robert Taylor,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Loretta Young, and Robert Young in The Philadelphia Story. Ladies
- 0:25Speaker 1: and Gentlemen, Your producer, mister Cecil B. DeMille readings from
- 0:35Speaker 1: Hollywood Ladies and Gentlemen. Names make news, and these names
- 0:40Speaker 1: made news in Hollywood this week. Loretta Young, Robert Taylor,
- 0:43Speaker 1: and Robert Young. Bob Taylor made.
- 0:46Speaker 2: News in several hundred theaters with a nice piece of
- 0:48Speaker 2: acting in the Metro Goldwyn Mayor epic of American heroism Batwn.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Loretta Young came back to town after a tour of army
- 0:57Speaker 2: camps in the Middle West and caught the cub fancy
- 1:00Speaker 2: all over the country in the Paramount film China, and
- 1:04Speaker 2: Bob Young was doing the same thing in MGM's Slightly Dangerous.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Those are the names that fell out the headline on
- 1:11Speaker 2: our marquee. But that isn't the whole story. With a
- 1:14Speaker 2: lot more, and it's called the Philadelphia Story. Philip Barry
- 1:18Speaker 2: wrote the play. Broadway audiences cheered it, and Metro Goldwyn
- 1:21Speaker 2: Mayer followed with the motion picture Suctests to Night. I
- 1:25Speaker 2: saw the play on Broadway. It was pretty obvious somebody
- 1:28Speaker 2: was going to make a hit picture out of it,
- 1:29Speaker 2: so I went backstage and tried to buy it. I
- 1:32Speaker 2: was the last, too late. But it's as fine a
- 1:35Speaker 2: play for radio as it was for the stage of screen.
- 1:38Speaker 2: So I'm getting a great deal of satisfaction out of
- 1:41Speaker 2: putting on this production. Tonight had a rough guess, I'd
- 1:45Speaker 2: say about five or six hundred thousand people were able
- 1:48Speaker 2: to see The Philadelphia Story on Broadway. Perhaps another two
- 1:51Speaker 2: hundred thousand saw it on the road. But Tonight Luck's
- 1:55Speaker 2: Toilet Soap makes it possible for many millions to hear
- 1:59Speaker 2: it and all at the same time. That's because this
- 2:02Speaker 2: theater works a little differently from the ordinary playhouse. Instead
- 2:07Speaker 2: of having a man in a stiff shirt to guard
- 2:10Speaker 2: the door and collect your tickets, we throw the door
- 2:12Speaker 2: wide open to come in. You don't have to stir
- 2:16Speaker 2: from the comfort of your living room. And the only
- 2:18Speaker 2: ticket that's ever used.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Is the support you give our product.
- 2:23Speaker 2: I think you'll give that anyway, because lux Toilet Soap
- 2:26Speaker 2: knows how to make friends and how to keep them.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Now here's the curtain for the first act of The
- 2:31Speaker 2: Philadelphia Story, starring Robert Taylor as c K. Dexter Haven,
- 2:36Speaker 2: Loretta Young as Tracy lord and Robert Young as Mike Connor,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and ladies and gentlemen, you've just been listening to the
- 2:59Speaker 2: end of an idea your marriage.
- 3:01Speaker 3: That was mister C. K.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Dexter Haven being invited out of his happy home with
- 3:06Speaker 2: MSUs Tracy lord Haven issuing the invitation.
- 3:09Speaker 1: But all that was two years ago.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Right now, Philadelphia society is seething with interest over the
- 3:16Speaker 2: forthcoming second marriage of Tracy Lawd and the editor of
- 3:20Speaker 2: the national magazine Spy is determined to spread it over
- 3:24Speaker 2: six photographic pages of his scandal sheet on the ways
- 3:27Speaker 2: of the editor's office, a Spy's major writer and Spy's
- 3:31Speaker 2: foremost photographer.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I'm not gonna do it, Liz. I'm gonna tell Sydney
- 3:36Speaker 4: Kid very plainly and simply, I'm a writer and not
- 3:38Speaker 4: a society snooper. I'm gonna tell him just that, just that.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Let Kid fire me.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I'll start writing short stories again. That's what I should
- 3:44Speaker 3: be doing anyway. I'm gonna tell him just that.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Just that.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Hello Connor, morning, missam brain.
- 3:51Speaker 7: Mister Kid.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I don't think you're being fair to me. No, No,
- 3:54Speaker 3: you're treating me like you treat all your other writers.
- 3:56Speaker 8: You really hate me, don't you.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Connor, No, I don't like you very much, though. Can
- 4:00Speaker 3: you hate me on trustmas embrace?
- 4:01Speaker 9: No, I can't afford to hate anybody. I'm only a photographer.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Your assignment will be SPI's most sensational achievement. Fracy Samantha Lord,
- 4:08Speaker 6: big game hunting in Africa, fox hunting in Pennsylvania, married
- 4:10Speaker 6: on impulse and divorce in the rage, and always unapproachable
- 4:13Speaker 6: by the press. Oh, I can see the layout now,
- 4:15Speaker 6: the Philadelphia story.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Those were the portals.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Of snobbish fox hunting.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Ah see No.
- 4:22Speaker 6: Hundred of Foxes. Is Spy Magazine anyway presented for the
- 4:25Speaker 6: first time? Quote the wedding day inside mainline society, or
- 4:28Speaker 6: with the kitchen.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Maids saw through the keyhole? Unquote?
- 4:31Speaker 1: Go ahead, Conna writing George Job, I'm only the.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Publisher, all right, publisher, take this quote.
- 4:35Speaker 4: No hunter of buckshot in the rear is kg crafty
- 4:38Speaker 4: Connor unquote close paragraphs.
- 4:40Speaker 9: No job, close bank account. But luck, mister kid, how
- 4:43Speaker 9: can we possibly get inside the Lord of States?
- 4:45Speaker 8: I'm loan the house just a moment.

- 5:02Speaker 1: Us with our problem.
- 5:03Speaker 3: Yeah, huh tell him please.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Tracy Lord's brother Junius is in the American embassy down there.

- 14:58Speaker 12: In the You know that sounds like answer, doesn't it.
- 15:01Speaker 5: You must have had a most happy childhood there.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was terrific.
- 15:04Speaker 15: I'm so glad.
- 15:04Speaker 3: No, I didn't mean it that one.
- 15:05Speaker 15: I'm so sorry.
- 15:06Speaker 5: Why, Well, it's.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Lack of Wherewithal, I guess.
- 15:10Speaker 5: Oh, but that doesn't always cause unhappiness, does it. Al?
- 15:12Speaker 15: Don't you married?
- 15:13Speaker 3: No? No?
- 15:15Speaker 12: No, oh you mean you were?
- 15:16Speaker 5: But now you're divorced.
- 15:17Speaker 12: Well, the fact is when I come now, surely you're
- 15:18Speaker 12: not ashamed of it, of course, I'm not ashamed of it.
- 15:21Speaker 5: What well, it was years ago.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I was only a kid, and to loose, well, good heavens, Liz.
- 15:27Speaker 3: You never told me anything.
- 15:28Speaker 15: You never asked.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Well, I know, but Joe hardware.
- 15:32Speaker 3: When you're the darnest girl is? I think I'm sweet
- 15:35Speaker 3: to loose?
- 15:36Speaker 8: There must be a lovely spot.
- 15:38Speaker 5: It's Laci's West here, isn't it. It's short of but
- 15:41Speaker 5: occasionally we get to breathe it.
- 15:42Speaker 15: This is your first visit to Philadelphia.
- 15:44Speaker 5: It's a quaint old place.
- 15:44Speaker 12: Don't you think it's filled with relics?
- 15:46Speaker 15: Tell me something?
- 15:47Speaker 8: Are you two going together?
- 15:48Speaker 3: I beg your pardon.
- 15:50Speaker 15: That is an odd question.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I don't see why. I think it's very interesting. And
- 15:53Speaker 5: don't you agree that if a man says he loves
- 15:55Speaker 5: a girl he ought to marry her?
- 15:57Speaker 3: Can she be human?
- 15:58Speaker 6: Now?
- 15:58Speaker 5: Please, mister Connor, I asked this young lady a question.
- 16:01Speaker 12: Well, that depends.
- 16:02Speaker 5: I haven't really thought I'll see what's keeping them?
- 16:04Speaker 12: Mind? You excuse me now?
- 16:05Speaker 3: Won't you look who's doing the interviewing around here?
- 16:10Speaker 9: You don't suppose she caught on somehow?
- 16:12Speaker 3: Oh no, she was born that way. But I've still
- 16:15Speaker 3: got to get an interview.
- 16:16Speaker 18: Try the town library.
- 16:17Speaker 9: You can probably dig up enough stuff to hang the
- 16:19Speaker 9: whole family.
- 16:27Speaker 1: Return.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Just leave it?
- 16:29Speaker 3: Please excuse me? Please? Are you the librarian?
- 16:32Speaker 18: Yes, what is the wish?
- 16:35Speaker 3: Well, I'm looking for some local But what did you say?
- 16:40Speaker 8: What is the wish?
- 16:43Speaker 3: Uh? Local biography or history?
- 16:46Speaker 8: If they will consult with my colleague over there?
- 16:50Speaker 4: Uh dost thou have a washroom?
- 16:56Speaker 15: To the left?
- 16:57Speaker 3: Thank thee? Oh? Readly?
- 17:05Speaker 12: Now look, I know this is a public library.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Oh hello, my book? Huh couldn't you afford to buy
- 17:11Speaker 3: a copy?
- 17:13Speaker 12: The bookstore didn't have one?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Well? Are you sure you're doing the right thing? You
- 17:17Speaker 3: know what happens to girls like you when they read
- 17:18Speaker 3: books like mine? They begin to think that's bad?
- 17:22Speaker 15: These stories are beautiful? Why connor?
- 17:24Speaker 12: They're almost poetry?
- 17:26Speaker 3: Well, don't kid yourself, they are.
- 17:29Speaker 12: I can't make you out at all?
- 17:31Speaker 3: Now, Really, I thought I was easy, Yes, so did I.
- 17:33Speaker 15: But you're not.
- 17:33Speaker 5: You talk so big and tough, and then wow, and
- 17:36Speaker 5: then you're right like this, which is which both?
- 17:40Speaker 3: I guess?
- 17:40Speaker 5: No, No, I believe that you put the toughness on
- 17:44Speaker 5: too well to save your skin?
- 17:45Speaker 3: Do you think so? Yeah?
- 17:47Speaker 8: I know a little about that?
- 17:48Speaker 15: Do you quite a lot?
- 17:49Speaker 14: Please?
- 17:51Speaker 15: Look, let's get out of here.
- 17:52Speaker 3: You want to swim, all right? Come on? Thanks? You
- 18:03Speaker 3: know you've really got something here where? Oh this garden
- 18:06Speaker 3: swimming pool? You could sail a small yacht in here?
- 18:08Speaker 5: Oh? Uh, Connor?
- 18:10Speaker 15: About your book?
- 18:11Speaker 3: My book?
- 18:12Speaker 5: Yeah, tell me something, will you? When you can do
- 18:15Speaker 5: things like this book, how can you possibly do anything else?
- 18:18Speaker 3: Well? You may not believe this, but there are people
- 18:20Speaker 3: in this world that must earn their living.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Of course, but oh heck, that's dexter. Look stand by me,
- 18:27Speaker 5: will you. I don't want to be alone with him, certainly.
- 18:29Speaker 3: If you like.
- 18:30Speaker 5: Thanks?
- 18:30Speaker 19: Oh oh they're red.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Well, fancy seeing you here?
- 18:34Speaker 1: What hash you been drinking, aren't you?
- 18:35Speaker 8: Huh?
- 18:36Speaker 1: I love something?
- 18:37Speaker 5: Don't tell me you have forsaken your beloved whiskey and whiskey.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Oh no, no no, I've just changed the color. That's all.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I go in for the pale pastel shades. Now, how
- 18:45Speaker 1: about you and mister Connie? You drink, don't you?
- 18:47Speaker 3: Uh? Little little?
- 18:49Speaker 1: And you're a writer. I thought all writers drank to
- 18:52Speaker 1: excess and beat their wives.
- 18:53Speaker 12: Dexter, would you mind doing something for me or anything?
- 18:57Speaker 8: What get the heck out of here.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Oh, my dear Red, I couldn't that you need me
- 19:00Speaker 1: too much?
- 19:01Speaker 12: Now, would you mind telling me just what it is
- 19:03Speaker 12: you're hanging around for.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Look I better.
- 19:05Speaker 12: No, no, no, no, no, don't you go, mister Connor.
- 19:06Speaker 1: No no, no, no, please don't go. Mister Connor. As a writer,
- 19:09Speaker 1: this ought to be right up your street.
- 19:11Speaker 12: Don't you miss a word.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I never saw you looking better. Red, you're getting that
- 19:15Speaker 1: fine tawny look.
- 19:16Speaker 5: Oh we're going to talk about me, are we?
- 19:19Speaker 15: Goody?
- 19:20Speaker 1: It's astonishing what money can do for people, mister Connor.
- 19:23Speaker 1: Not too much, you know, just more than enough. Now
- 19:26Speaker 1: take Tracy here for example. It's even changed her shape.
- 19:29Speaker 1: She was a dumpy little thing at one time.
- 19:31Speaker 12: Only as it happens, I'm not interested in myself for.
- 19:34Speaker 1: The moment, not interested in yourself. No, you're fascinated Red.
- 19:37Speaker 1: You're a far and away your favorite person in the world,
- 19:40Speaker 1: of course, mister Connor. She's a girl who's generous to
- 19:43Speaker 1: a fault, except to other people's faults. For instance, she
- 19:47Speaker 1: never had any understanding at all of my deep and
- 19:49Speaker 1: gorgeous thirst.
- 19:50Speaker 15: It was disgusting.
- 19:52Speaker 12: It made you unattractive.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Hm. A weakness sure and strength is her religion, mister Connor.
- 19:57Speaker 1: She finds human imperfection unforgivable. And when I gradually discovered
- 20:01Speaker 1: that my relationship to her was supposed to be not
- 20:04Speaker 1: that of a loving husband and a good companion, but
- 20:07Speaker 1: that of a kind of high priest to a goddess,
- 20:10Speaker 1: and my drinks grew deeper and more frequent.
- 20:12Speaker 20: I never considered you as that normal son you did
- 20:14Speaker 20: without knowing it that night you got drunk on champagne
- 20:18Speaker 20: and climbed out on the roof and stood there in
- 20:20Speaker 20: your night shirt with your with your arms out to
- 20:23Speaker 20: the moon, wailing like a bansheet.
- 20:26Speaker 5: That I have told you I know had the slightest
- 20:28Speaker 5: recollection of doing any such thing.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Oh, I know you drew a blank. You wanted to
- 20:33Speaker 1: just a kind of what would you say? Where'd he go?
- 20:36Speaker 12: He's gone? But I hope you heard what you said.
- 20:38Speaker 12: It would make a wonderful story for spot to bad.
- 20:41Speaker 1: We can't supply photographs of you on the.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Roof, Dexter.
- 20:44Speaker 12: What are you trying to make me out as?
- 20:46Speaker 1: Tracy? What do you fancy yourself as? When I read
- 20:49Speaker 1: you were going to marry Kettrich, I couldn't believe it.
- 20:51Speaker 1: That's why I'm here. How in the world can you
- 20:53Speaker 1: even think of it?
- 20:54Speaker 12: Because he's everything that you're not. He's been poor, and
- 20:57Speaker 12: he's had to work, and he's had to fight for everything.
- 21:00Speaker 12: I love him as I never even began to love you.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Maybe so, but I doubt it. I think it's just
- 21:04Speaker 1: a swing from me. But Kittrid is no great tower
- 21:08Speaker 1: of strength, Tracy, He's just a tower.
- 21:10Speaker 8: You hardly know him well.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I hardly know him as to know him well. Kittrides
- 21:13Speaker 1: not for you.
- 21:14Speaker 12: Read you bet, he's for me.
- 21:16Speaker 5: He's a great man and a good man already. He's
- 21:18Speaker 5: of national importance.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Oh, you sound like spy magazine talking.
- 21:23Speaker 5: You know, you seem quite contemptuous of me.
- 21:24Speaker 15: All of a sudden.
- 21:25Speaker 1: No, or not of you. I'm contemptuous of something inside
- 21:28Speaker 1: of you. You're so called strength. You're prejudice against weakness.
- 21:32Speaker 1: You're blank intolerance.
- 21:33Speaker 12: Is at all.
- 21:33Speaker 1: That's the gist of it, Because you'll never be a
- 21:36Speaker 1: first class human being or a first class woman until
- 21:38Speaker 1: you that you have learned to have some regard for
- 21:40Speaker 1: human fraily. It's a pity your own foot can't slip
- 21:44Speaker 1: a little sometime. But your sense of divinity wouldn't allow that.
- 21:48Speaker 1: A special class of American female and married maidens.
- 21:52Speaker 12: So help me if you say another.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Word, I'm all through red for the moment. I've had
- 21:56Speaker 1: my say, Oh, the tower of Strength. I suppose I
- 22:01Speaker 1: should object to this too, Well, that would be most objectionable. Well,
- 22:06Speaker 1: any time either of you want my advice, we'll give
- 22:08Speaker 1: you a ring. Yes, thanks to that, will you so long? Read? Oh? Oh,
- 22:12Speaker 1: by the way, here's a little wedding present. Sorry, I
- 22:15Speaker 1: hadn't any ribbon to tie it up with. So long,
- 22:18Speaker 1: kiddrid so long? Well shall we open this tracing?
- 22:22Speaker 10: Go ahead?
- 22:23Speaker 5: I must remember to send a note to him along
- 22:25Speaker 5: with three others.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Look at your friend considers a wedding present.
- 22:31Speaker 15: Why, it's the model of the true love. So what
- 22:33Speaker 15: the true love?
- 22:34Speaker 5: It's a boat that he designed them built, practically sailed
- 22:38Speaker 5: it down the coast of mainem back the summer we
- 22:39Speaker 5: were married. Oh my, but she was young.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah? What's that mean?
- 22:46Speaker 15: Yeah?
- 22:47Speaker 5: Why what does it mean? It means that she's easy
- 22:50Speaker 5: to handle and quick to the helm, fast and bright.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Everything about should be until she develops dry rot.
- 23:09Speaker 1: In a few moments, Mister the Mill presents Robert Taylor,
- 23:12Speaker 1: Loretta Young and Robert Young in Act two of the
- 23:15Speaker 1: Philadelphia Story. But now here's some music that'll have special
- 23:19Speaker 1: meaning for lots of young people this summer.
- 23:31Speaker 18: So that all to put us in the right mood.
- 23:32Speaker 12: Jane, Yes, a week from today, I'll be an expert
- 23:35Speaker 12: the rake and the hole.
- 23:37Speaker 18: It'll be hard but fun.
- 23:38Speaker 15: We'll be real farm hands only, Anne.
- 23:41Speaker 12: Yes, Jane, I hope we don't get all grimy and
- 23:44Speaker 12: weather beaten lohing.
- 23:45Speaker 18: Well, don't you worry, sweetie pie. I got us a
- 23:47Speaker 18: couple of big straw hats to keep the sun off.
- 23:50Speaker 18: And the most important thing of all, I have a
- 23:52Speaker 18: supply of lux toilet so no blair on our tender
- 23:55Speaker 18: little faces in the daytime, and plenty of creamy lucks
- 23:58Speaker 18: so flatter every night to get out all the dirt
- 24:01Speaker 18: and grime and help our skin stay salt and smooth.
- 24:04Speaker 18: And don't forget a luck soap. Beauty bath is going
- 24:07Speaker 18: to feel mighty good to our weary limbs too.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Now there's a pair of young war workers just bound
- 24:12Speaker 1: to be successful. They know what a grand beauty, ah,
- 24:15Speaker 1: gentle lux toilet soap will be to them all summer long.
- 24:18Speaker 1: A refreshing, fragrant beauty bath that will leave skin really sweet.
- 24:23Speaker 1: A gentle, thorough facial care that'll help to keep complexions
- 24:26Speaker 1: soft and smooth and lovely for busy women everywhere. Here's
- 24:30Speaker 1: a tip straight from Hollywood. Use the screen star's beauty soap,
- 24:34Speaker 1: Lux toilet soap. A finer soap can't be bought. It's
- 24:37Speaker 1: pure and very mild, gentle as a caress on the skin.
- 24:42Speaker 1: We pause now for station identification. This is the Columbia
- 24:47Speaker 1: Broadcasting System.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Act two of The Philadelphia Story, starring Loretta Young as
- 25:11Speaker 2: Tracy Lord, Robert Taylor as c. K. Dexter Haven, and
- 25:16Speaker 2: Robert Young as Mike Connor. On the eve of Tracy
- 25:24Speaker 2: Lord's wedding, her ex husband's presence is no comfort. No
- 25:28Speaker 2: comfort either is Dinah, who rushes in with news of
- 25:31Speaker 2: a new complication.
- 25:34Speaker 13: Tracy, he came anyway, He's right here.
- 25:36Speaker 15: Now, who's here?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Father?
- 25:43Speaker 2: I'm the terrace.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Tracy Lord faces her father.
- 25:45Speaker 2: And mother in her eyes.
- 25:47Speaker 1: There's nothing but scorn.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Now, remember Crazy, your uncle Willie's guest of honor tonight.
- 25:53Speaker 5: You mustn't be late.
- 25:53Speaker 7: I just saw that fiance of yours, Tracy. He rolled
- 25:56Speaker 7: out of here on two wheels, does he buy any
- 25:58Speaker 7: chance of a walk anywhere he likes? I expect I
- 26:01Speaker 7: have a feeling he'll take the ring tomorrow and go
- 26:02Speaker 7: right through set it with it.
- 26:04Speaker 5: That's you, idiot, very amusing, I'm sure, almost as amusing
- 26:07Speaker 5: as the sight of.
- 26:08Speaker 12: You with your arm around mother.
- 26:10Speaker 7: I find very unamusing the stupid, undignified spectacle we're making
- 26:13Speaker 7: of ourselves for the benefit of those two newspaper.
- 26:15Speaker 5: People, of course, inasmuch as you let us in for
- 26:18Speaker 5: us in the first place.
- 26:19Speaker 7: Oh, do keep that note out of your voice, Chacy,
- 26:21Speaker 7: it's very unattractive.
- 26:22Speaker 15: Oh how does.
- 26:22Speaker 12: Your dancer friend talk?
- 26:24Speaker 15: Or does sheep?
- 26:24Speaker 1: Per?
- 26:25Speaker 13: Tracy?
- 26:25Speaker 15: Sweet and blow?
- 26:26Speaker 5: I suppose dust it and very ladylike. You've got a
- 26:30Speaker 5: heck of a nerve to come back here in your
- 26:31Speaker 5: best head of the family matter and strike attitudes and
- 26:34Speaker 5: criticize my fiance and give orders and messings up generally,
- 26:37Speaker 5: and can't have it at fickening as if he's done
- 26:40Speaker 5: nothing at all.
- 26:41Speaker 8: Anyway, it's not your affair, Tracy.
- 26:43Speaker 7: If it concerns anyone, well, actually, I don't know whom
- 26:45Speaker 7: it concerns except your father. It's very wise of you. Margaret,
- 26:48Speaker 7: What most wives fail to realize is that their husband's
- 26:51Speaker 7: philandering has nothing whatever to do with him.
- 26:53Speaker 5: Oh then, who has it to do.
- 26:55Speaker 3: With a reluctance to go old?
- 26:57Speaker 7: I think I suppose the best mainstay a man can
- 26:59Speaker 7: have as he gets long in years is a daughter.
- 27:01Speaker 3: The right kind of.
- 27:02Speaker 7: Daughter, how sweet, full of warmth for him, full of foolish, unquestioning,
- 27:05Speaker 7: uncritical affection, none of which none. You have a good mind,
- 27:08Speaker 7: a pretty face. You have everything it takes to make
- 27:11Speaker 7: a lovely woman except the one essential, an understanding heart. Tracy,
- 27:15Speaker 7: You're not even human. You're made a bronze.
- 27:18Speaker 5: That's an awful thing to say to anyone.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Yes it is.
- 27:21Speaker 12: Indeed, so I'm to blame for Lena moray Ema.
- 27:24Speaker 7: To a certain extent, I expect you are.
- 27:26Speaker 15: Are you coward?
- 27:27Speaker 5: No?
- 27:27Speaker 7: But better that than a prig or a perennial spinster. However,
- 27:30Speaker 7: many marriages.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Set that too much.
- 27:33Speaker 15: What did you say I was?
- 27:34Speaker 3: Do you want me to repeat it?
- 27:36Speaker 12: No?
- 27:36Speaker 5: No, Pagan, you mean that you think I think I'm
- 27:42Speaker 5: some kind of a.
- 27:43Speaker 3: Goddess or something if your ego wants it that way.
- 27:45Speaker 16: Yes, come along, Margaret, Tracy, haven't you danced enough.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Do you know what time?
- 27:59Speaker 5: It is?
- 27:59Speaker 12: A daft four in China's ladies?
- 28:01Speaker 5: Madame China would be marry boy now, or perhaps it's
- 28:03Speaker 5: only up stay crazy.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I don't understand you tonight.
- 28:06Speaker 3: What's the matter?
- 28:07Speaker 5: What's the matter with everybody?
- 28:08Speaker 1: You never drink?
- 28:09Speaker 3: Tracy, Oh, you've got that wrong.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Griggs don't drink, nor spinster nor goddesses of neighbors?
- 28:15Speaker 3: Oh, Tracy, that's enough. Mcaulay Connors recorded for.
- 28:22Speaker 5: May.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I cut in.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Connor, We're going home after this now.
- 28:26Speaker 4: You can't do that to me, not an old friend
- 28:28Speaker 4: of old Junius.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Oh I wish old Junius were here.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Crazy, I'll get your wrapped up.
- 28:32Speaker 5: It right back, you'll wrap me up.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Hello, Hello, Hey, you look fine, You're fine? Good good?
- 28:41Speaker 3: What was I saying? Oh, let's have another drink? Oh Wood,
- 28:45Speaker 3: Kittrie spank.
- 28:46Speaker 5: That's not what you were saying.
- 28:47Speaker 3: It isn't all right now? What was I saying? Oh?
- 28:51Speaker 3: I know? Why do you wish your brother was here?
- 28:53Speaker 3: Does he like Kittridge?

- 48:47Speaker 5: I want you to know that you will always be
- 48:49Speaker 5: my friend. But your conduct last night was so shocking
- 48:53Speaker 5: to my ideas of womanhood that my attitude towards you
- 48:56Speaker 5: in the prospect of a happy married life together has changed. Mister, Oh, hello, George,
- 49:04Speaker 5: come and listen, Tracy in front of all these and

- 49:08Speaker 5: my friends too.
- 49:10Speaker 12: Here everybody, here's the last of it.
- 49:12Speaker 5: Your breach of common decency certainly entitles me to a
- 49:15Speaker 5: full exclamation before going through with our proposed marriage in
- 49:19Speaker 5: the light of day.
- 49:20Speaker 12: I am sure that you will agree with me.
- 49:23Speaker 5: Well, yes, George, I do agree with you.

- 49:38Speaker 12: Well, thanks, Mike, which is there's no need to defend.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Me, after which I deposited Tracy in her room and
- 49:42Speaker 3: promptly returned down here to YouTube, which doubtless you'll remember, doubtless,
- 49:46Speaker 3: without a doubt.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Do you mean to say that was all I was
- 49:48Speaker 1: to it?
- 49:49Speaker 5: I do. Why Mike, was I so unattractive, so distant,
- 49:54Speaker 5: so forbidding or something that you?
- 49:56Speaker 1: Well, this is fine.
- 49:56Speaker 8: Talk to you just a minute.
- 49:57Speaker 12: I'm asking a question.
- 49:58Speaker 3: You were extremely attractive, but you were also a little
- 50:01Speaker 3: the worse or better for wine, and there are rules
- 50:05Speaker 3: about that.
- 50:07Speaker 5: Oh, thank you, Mike.
- 50:09Speaker 12: I think men are wonderful, the little DearS.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Then if it hadn't been for the drink last night,
- 50:16Speaker 1: all of this might not have happened.
- 50:17Speaker 12: Well, apparently nothing did happen, And what made you.
- 50:20Speaker 5: Think it had?
- 50:20Speaker 1: No, I'm not gonna quiverle, Tracy. Let bygones be bygones.
- 50:23Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 50:24Speaker 5: Yes?
- 50:25Speaker 15: And goodbye? George?
- 50:27Speaker 1: I don't understand.
- 50:28Speaker 5: Well, you're too good for me, George, or a hundred
- 50:30Speaker 5: times too good.
- 50:31Speaker 12: But i'd make you the most unhappy that well.
- 50:34Speaker 5: That is, I do my best too.
- 50:36Speaker 1: All right, Possibly it's just as well. Yes, I thought
- 50:40Speaker 1: you'd finally come to that conclusion. I have a feeling

- 51:13Speaker 1: They look solemn?
- 51:14Speaker 12: What in the name of all this hole am I
- 51:16Speaker 12: going to do?
- 51:17Speaker 15: Yes?
- 51:17Speaker 3: Mike, Look, I got you into this thing, and I'll
- 51:19Speaker 3: get you out of it. Will you marry me? Tracy?
- 51:22Speaker 12: Oh? Hanks, Mike?
- 51:25Speaker 15: Thanks?
- 51:25Speaker 12: But no, Well, why not, Because because I don't think
- 51:31Speaker 12: Liz would like.
- 51:32Speaker 5: It, and I'm not so sure you would. And I'm
- 51:35Speaker 5: even a little doubtful about myself.
- 51:38Speaker 15: But I'm beholden to your Mike. I'm most beholden.
- 51:42Speaker 3: But they're in there. They're waiting now, Mike.
