- 0:15Speaker 1: Hello in Welcome everybody to episode seventy nine of Cards
- 0:18Speaker 1: and Categories. I'm Mike cool Art from Rasball, and I
- 0:21Speaker 1: am joined by two very special guests here. I've got
- 0:25Speaker 1: Jordan White, formerly from Picture List and of rasball, and
- 0:28Speaker 1: also Kielan Blow from Well formerly of rasball, our former
- 0:33Speaker 1: ambulance chaser friend of rasball. Now, so this is a
- 0:38Speaker 1: little tough with a three person panel, but Jordan, I
- 0:40Speaker 1: will pass it over to you to see how you
- 0:42Speaker 1: are doing as we're recording here on February twelve.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Honestly, feeling pretty great. Pictures and catchers have reported in
- 0:48Speaker 2: a lot of places, which is exciting. That's fantastic. I'm
- 0:52Speaker 2: really excited for that. Yeah, I don't know. I'm just
- 0:55Speaker 2: ready for things to get going and post super Bowl
- 0:57Speaker 2: and everything like that.
- 0:58Speaker 1: So feeling good, awesome? And where can people find you
- 1:01Speaker 1: on socials if they want to reach you.
- 1:03Speaker 2: If you want to find me, I'm on Blue Sky.
- 1:05Speaker 2: You can find me there at bunt singles dot, bsky
- 1:09Speaker 2: dot social That's mostly where I'm at these days. Haven't
- 1:13Speaker 2: really been on the old Twitter machine in a few
- 1:15Speaker 2: months here, so if you want to find me, find
- 1:18Speaker 2: me there.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Excellent Kielan, How are you doing today?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Pretty good?
- 1:24Speaker 4: Pretty swell, I guess for people who well, no one
- 1:26Speaker 4: will see this on camera, but I'm dressed in a
- 1:29Speaker 4: monochromatic outfit with a wall that's the same color behind me,
- 1:33Speaker 4: so you could say I'm great.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Actually, yeah, you're feeling good. Where can people find you?
- 1:38Speaker 1: On socials?
- 1:39Speaker 4: You can find me on Blue Sky at Kielan twelve
- 1:43Speaker 4: foot that's k E E l I N one two
- 1:47Speaker 4: ft at Blue Sky Social or whatever it is. I'm
- 1:51Speaker 4: not on Twitter anymore. Rip was a good ride, well elasted.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And while you weren't banned.
- 1:57Speaker 3: That's true. That's true.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I forgot out about that, can't.
- 2:02Speaker 4: I still don't know why, but I think it was
- 2:05Speaker 4: the guillotine chiff, That's all I can figure out.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Yeah, not sure.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Oh you're a shift pronouncer, not a not a gift
- 2:11Speaker 2: I am.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oh all right, Well might this is gonna put a
- 2:16Speaker 2: strain on our friendship?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Yeah, this is really we might have to dedicate the
- 2:19Speaker 1: entire pod to this then, like, yeah, let's let's parse
- 2:22Speaker 1: it out. But actually, I mean, I don't know if
- 2:24Speaker 1: that would be more entertaining than discussing the Ale Central
- 2:27Speaker 1: or not. That is going to be our preview here today,
- 2:30Speaker 1: especially with Kilan. It'll be great bringing you in for
- 2:32Speaker 1: the White Sox and Jordan, your Midwest adjacent so you
- 2:35Speaker 1: understand all the vibes of the Ale Central slash being
- 2:39Speaker 1: a Brewers fan. They used to be in the Ale
- 2:40Speaker 1: Central back in what the nineties or whatever, so they
- 2:43Speaker 1: know what's what it's all about. And it's the most
- 2:48Speaker 1: hilarious division I think of the entire Major League Baseball.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So it'll be great to get into some of our
- 2:53Speaker 1: buys and sells and picks to click, because even though
- 2:57Speaker 1: the teams are terrible, lots of great fantasy opportunities, especially
- 3:01Speaker 1: for deep leaguers and people of my realm right in
- 3:04Speaker 1: the waiver wires, because I think people will overlook a
- 3:07Speaker 1: lot of these players. But before we do that, let's
- 3:10Speaker 1: get into some notes right off the bat. We've actually
- 3:13Speaker 1: got some great X Ale Central news in terms of
- 3:16Speaker 1: two of my all time favorites ones obviously my all
- 3:20Speaker 1: time favorite because I referred to him as our Lord
- 3:23Speaker 1: and Savior more than once in my post last year.
- 3:26Speaker 1: That is Tommy fam signing with the Pittsburgh Pirates for
- 3:29Speaker 1: one year. Should walk into another starting job leading off
- 3:33Speaker 1: there for the Pirates and then the other one we
- 3:35Speaker 1: have and this has turned into a starting job now
- 3:38Speaker 1: that we've learned that Anthony Rendon is giving up on
- 3:40Speaker 1: baseball for this year. Jan Mancatta is going to be
- 3:43Speaker 1: playing third base for the Angels also signed there within
- 3:47Speaker 1: the past week. So Killey and I'm going to pass
- 3:49Speaker 1: this to you first, because these are two x socks
- 3:52Speaker 1: that you've seen plenty of in person. Do you have
- 3:55Speaker 1: interest in either of them going into the fantasy season
- 3:58Speaker 1: for twenty twenty five?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you're asking me if I have interest in either
- 4:02Speaker 3: of those two.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I love Tommy fam I was really bummed when he left,
- 4:07Speaker 4: but also not surprise. I mean, I guess the White
- 4:09Speaker 4: Sox are a great kind of like get out of
- 4:12Speaker 4: career jill opportunity, and he did do that, so I'm
- 4:17Speaker 4: kind of glad he's, you know, not with an.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Ale Central team.
- 4:22Speaker 4: But yeah, I would absolutely be interested in picking him up,
- 4:26Speaker 4: I'd say, Mankata, No, that's just been too much every season.
- 4:32Speaker 4: I think, you know, last season, I noticed it's the
- 4:35Speaker 4: same conversation every season with oh, yeah, he's gonna be good,
- 4:39Speaker 4: and he does sometime like I think it's about the
- 4:42Speaker 4: first three months. He may start to like do well
- 4:46Speaker 4: and then he ended up the league gets injured, and
- 4:48Speaker 4: you know, maybe that'll change. I personally don't have the
- 4:50Speaker 4: stomach for it this time around.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, I can tell you understand, Jordan, what do you
- 4:54Speaker 1: think about these two players in Wankata and FAM?
- 4:57Speaker 2: So with FAM, it's interesting. I feel like this is
- 5:00Speaker 2: still the case obviously because he signed a one year deal.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I read somewhere and this may be wrong, please do
- 5:04Speaker 2: not quote me on this, but I feel like I
- 5:05Speaker 2: read somewhere that the Pirates haven't signed anyone who's a
- 5:08Speaker 2: free agent to longer than a one year deal since
- 5:11Speaker 2: like twenty sixteen.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I can believe that, yeah, or.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Something like that, Like it was something adjacent to that
- 5:17Speaker 2: that they haven't really signed. And it's weird that they're
- 5:20Speaker 2: not really trying harder with someone like Paul Skan's another
- 5:25Speaker 2: young guy like Jared Jones and then Bubba Chandler coming up.
- 5:27Speaker 2: They have three like really elite looking starting pitchers, so
- 5:31Speaker 2: like a solid base for a rotation, and it feels
- 5:34Speaker 2: like they're not really trying anywhere else, which is unfortunate.
- 5:37Speaker 2: That said, Tummycam, I mean, I would be happy with
- 5:42Speaker 2: him as a signing if I was a Pirates fan.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I feel like he's just a solid contributor wherever he
- 5:47Speaker 2: ends up. From a vibe standpoint, he brings like a
- 5:51Speaker 2: very specific type attitude to a team, which I actually
- 5:54Speaker 2: personally enjoy. So I like him a lot as far
- 5:57Speaker 2: as you want Mankata. I mean, it makes a lot
- 5:59Speaker 2: more sense that the Angels signed him considering what we
- 6:02Speaker 2: now know about Anthony Rendon and that he's having hip surgery.
- 6:05Speaker 2: So it's curious that they would sign someone else so
- 6:10Speaker 2: injury prone seemingly to replace someone who is so injury
- 6:14Speaker 2: prone himself and Rendon. And I think that it's a
- 6:18Speaker 2: decent park at the very least for hitters, So I'm
- 6:20Speaker 2: not completely opposed to going after Mancata, but I would
- 6:25Speaker 2: approach it with an appropriate amount of caution just based
- 6:28Speaker 2: on his history as well. So yeah, that's kind of
- 6:32Speaker 2: feel about both those guys.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think both of them are going super
- 6:36Speaker 1: late in drafts. But yeah, I love fam as like
- 6:39Speaker 1: somebody slot in as your last outfielder. And Moncatta, I mean,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I'm sure I'll take a few shots here and there
- 6:44Speaker 1: and take a look at the cheap price just because
- 6:48Speaker 1: if it clicks. Like you said, I do like that
- 6:50Speaker 1: Park usually plays warm to begin the season, but certainly
- 6:54Speaker 1: no need to invest heavily in either of those players.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Next piece of news we have is future Hall of
- 7:01Speaker 1: Famer Clayton Kershaw resigning with the Dodgers. So this one,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I think this is a good one to bring you
- 7:07Speaker 1: in for Kielan as doctor of rasball for a couple
- 7:11Speaker 1: of years and making sure that we've been tracking these injuries,
- 7:16Speaker 1: especially with Kershaw. He's been so banged up over the
- 7:18Speaker 1: past couple of years, between the shoulder, the back, he
- 7:22Speaker 1: was dealing with a bone spur. I believe in his
- 7:25Speaker 1: in his foot during the playoffs. Do you think that
- 7:29Speaker 1: there is potential for Kershaw to be relevant in any
- 7:33Speaker 1: fantasy leagues this year or like, do you think he
- 7:36Speaker 1: even gets back to be relevant?
- 7:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I took I took this to be a symbolic thing.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Okay, I mean it would be cool if he.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Did, I guess for people who are big, big fans,
- 7:51Speaker 4: But yeah, I don't. I don't really see it, just
- 7:55Speaker 4: because it does seem like honestly got to the point
- 7:58Speaker 4: last year with ambulance Chasers where it was kind of like, oh, yep,
- 8:03Speaker 4: he's still injured. I kind of stopped even really writing
- 8:06Speaker 4: about him because it was just there. So yeah, I mean,
- 8:13Speaker 4: I am mostly in camp. Never say never, but I
- 8:18Speaker 4: wouldn't be me say that.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Yeah, Jordan, So it does look like most of the projections, Keeling,
- 8:27Speaker 1: you'll probably take the under on these are putting him
- 8:29Speaker 1: around like seventy to seventy five innings. What do you think, Jordan?
- 8:33Speaker 1: Is that too high? Too low? Just right?
- 8:36Speaker 2: I think that's probably just right. Personally. I think the
- 8:40Speaker 2: way that the Dodters have constructed the roster like they've
- 8:42Speaker 2: gotten obviously a ton of starting pitching talent, all with
- 8:45Speaker 2: a lot of question marks help wise and volume wise.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I don't think it's absurd to think that Kersha over
- 8:50Speaker 2: the course of the season is going to hit like
- 8:52Speaker 2: seventy to eighty innings at all. And I feel like
- 8:57Speaker 2: a lot of their starting pitching talent is pretty much
- 8:59Speaker 2: guessed in terms of the volume that they're going to get. Obviously,
- 9:02Speaker 2: Rookie Sasaki with his dips and veilo and everything like that,
- 9:05Speaker 2: before he came Stateside, there was concerns about his arm
- 9:09Speaker 2: and everything like that, Yashnoba Yamamoto last year didn't pitch
- 9:13Speaker 2: full season. Blake Snell has had varied innings over the
- 9:17Speaker 2: course of his career, pitching what like one pint thirty
- 9:19Speaker 2: last year after pitching one hundred and eighty the season before.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It feels like a hedge for the most part. But also,
- 9:27Speaker 2: like with Kershaw, he's a Dodger legend. It feels pretty
- 9:31Speaker 2: much like they're going to have a handshake agreement with
- 9:33Speaker 2: him that he can come back as much as he wants,
- 9:34Speaker 2: for as long as he wants, until he finally decides
- 9:36Speaker 2: that he wants to hang it up. And honestly, I'm
- 9:39Speaker 2: kind of fine with that.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think that's fair that, especially if
- 9:45Speaker 1: you're in a league where you can stash him on
- 9:46Speaker 1: the IL. I don't think it's a bad move because
- 9:49Speaker 1: more time coming off of that back and shoulder injury
- 9:52Speaker 1: that at this point it seems that he's mostly rehaving
- 9:55Speaker 1: that toe injury, which is a lot less concerning from
- 9:58Speaker 1: a bonees burn perspective. All right, next move, we have
- 10:03Speaker 1: ex Dodger, but we're going back to Orange County here.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Kenley Jansen signing a one year, ten million dollar deal
- 10:09Speaker 1: with the Angels to presumably close. I think that they
- 10:13Speaker 1: are going to push Ben Joyce down the depth chart here.
- 10:16Speaker 1: And I'll say, as somebody who had a share of
- 10:20Speaker 1: him in my first pitch Arizona fifty round draft and
- 10:25Speaker 1: hold league, this is a great landing spot for Jansen,
- 10:29Speaker 1: partly because, like, the Angels are just competitive enough where
- 10:33Speaker 1: I'm interested in the number of saves they can generate.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I don't think they'll be able to trade him at
- 10:38Speaker 1: the deadline, even though they'll try, and Jansen, I think
- 10:41Speaker 1: at this point is kind of chasing just Hall of
- 10:43Speaker 1: Fame numbers to try to pad those stats a little bit,
- 10:46Speaker 1: kind of push him past Lee Smith on the all
- 10:48Speaker 1: time saves boards to be able to try to bolster
- 10:54Speaker 1: his overall Hall of Fame case. But Jordan, what do
- 10:58Speaker 1: you think here with Kenley Jensen is do you think
- 11:01Speaker 1: I'm online? You in or out on him?
- 11:04Speaker 2: I think I'm in on him. It's funny because it
- 11:06Speaker 2: feels like, despite how horrendous that team looked right after
- 11:13Speaker 2: the season ended last year, it seems like the Angels
- 11:15Speaker 2: are trying, which is a lot more than you can
- 11:17Speaker 2: say about a lot of teams in the league right now,
- 11:21Speaker 2: and I think. I think there's a world where they
- 11:25Speaker 2: are actually competitive in that division, strangely enough, so I
- 11:30Speaker 2: really don't mind it. I mean, obviously, for me, I
- 11:32Speaker 2: consider myself pretty lucky. There was a couple leagues where
- 11:34Speaker 2: I was really pushing hard to try to trade for
- 11:36Speaker 2: Ben Joyce and I never got him in any of them.
- 11:38Speaker 2: And I'm actually really happy about that now in retrospect,
- 11:42Speaker 2: and it's disappointing for the folks that do roster him,
- 11:44Speaker 2: because he was going to be a good option, it
- 11:45Speaker 2: looked like coming into the season. I think that right
- 11:48Speaker 2: now I'm probably in on ken Lee. I don't know
- 11:53Speaker 2: where he's going currently. Obviously the ADP numbers are going
- 11:56Speaker 2: to be completely skewed because he just signed, so it's
- 12:00Speaker 2: not gonna be a good depiction of where he actually
- 12:02Speaker 2: should be going. But I would probably be in on
- 12:05Speaker 2: him at price because he's gonna be going a decent
- 12:09Speaker 2: amount lower in ADP than most of the folks.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it looks like I've got it set to the
- 12:17Speaker 1: beginning of January, it's around like pick one ninety, which
- 12:22Speaker 1: can't quite do. Wish that the NFBC draft data sorted
- 12:27Speaker 1: between SP's and rps, but especially given how shallow closer
- 12:31Speaker 1: is and how chaotic saves are. I do think that
- 12:34Speaker 1: they'll be rising considering the nice situation for Jansen here
- 12:37Speaker 1: Kielan Jansen, most of the projections honestly all copying each
- 12:43Speaker 1: other's homework. Twenty five saves over under that mark for you.
- 12:48Speaker 4: I kind of agree with Jordan on this one, and
- 12:51Speaker 4: I think also I'm trying to remember last year. I
- 12:55Speaker 4: know he has his ongoing heart issue, so I'm always
- 12:59Speaker 4: curious to see how that plays out with things.
- 13:04Speaker 3: So maybe I guess it depends on that.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Maybe a little under, but yeah, I think I mostly
- 13:12Speaker 4: with Jordan on that one.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Okay, Well, that wraps up the news and notes that
- 13:17Speaker 1: we've got. I do want to remind everybody that everything
- 13:21Speaker 1: that we're going to be discussing you can check out
- 13:23Speaker 1: the show, news and notes wherever you're listening to this podcast,
- 13:27Speaker 1: will you're there, would appreciate it if you could rate
- 13:29Speaker 1: and review the podcast. Obviously, if it's only a positive review,
- 13:33Speaker 1: don't want any of those one stars in there, so
- 13:34Speaker 1: avoid those. But if you're also looking for help going
- 13:38Speaker 1: into your twenty twenty five fantasy season, check out raspball
- 13:41Speaker 1: dot com Obviously this will be linked, like I said,
- 13:44Speaker 1: with everything else, but we've got lots of great subscription
- 13:47Speaker 1: options in there to be able to find what works
- 13:49Speaker 1: best for you. I get lots of great use of
- 13:52Speaker 1: all the tools that have been built out there, and
- 13:54Speaker 1: you get access to I think that it's gonna help
- 13:57Speaker 1: you become a fair fantasy player and obviously support us
- 14:00Speaker 1: a little bit, so it's a win win from both perspectives. There.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Do want to remind everybody that if you are looking
- 14:07Speaker 1: for Top Series one, it dropped today on February twelve.
- 14:11Speaker 1: If you want to go back to episode seventy eight,
- 14:13Speaker 1: Jeremy and I covered a whole preview of the entire product,
- 14:18Speaker 1: so check that out. If you're looking for more details
- 14:20Speaker 1: on the voluminous parallel checklist that is out there, I
- 14:25Speaker 1: think we counted out it's over fifty parallels for each
- 14:28Speaker 1: base card this year, which is absolutely absurd, But we
- 14:32Speaker 1: had a great time talking about that over the weekend.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Check out that pod, and if you want any of
- 14:38Speaker 1: the other upcoming releases, check out those show notes because
- 14:40Speaker 1: we keep track of that for you. All Right, with that,
- 14:43Speaker 1: let's get into our main show. Let's get into this
- 14:45Speaker 1: ale Central. Let's get into the dirt because this is
- 14:50Speaker 1: easily the worst division I think in baseball that it's
- 14:55Speaker 1: when you light it up. I mean, it's not like
- 14:57Speaker 1: the NL Central is anything great, but like the but
- 15:02Speaker 1: the ALE Central is a different breed. I mean, you're
- 15:05Speaker 1: looking at a team that I think most outlets are
- 15:09Speaker 1: projecting the Twins to win, and the Twins haven't made
- 15:13Speaker 1: an offseason move in like two years, and so it's
- 15:16Speaker 1: just a really fascinating kind of bungle of teams. Right now,
- 15:21Speaker 1: we're gonna go alphabetically by city team name. That starts
- 15:27Speaker 1: us off with the Chicago White Sox. Perfect. Like I said,
- 15:32Speaker 1: for Keeling to be on for this, because this team,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I'll get both of your takes. I think they're losing
- 15:39Speaker 1: more games this year. This is a team without Garrett Crochet.
- 15:43Speaker 1: This is a team where Luis Robert's probably gonna get traded.
- 15:48Speaker 1: This is a team with just like the bullpen is
- 15:51Speaker 1: one of the worst I think I've ever seen. Like
- 15:54Speaker 1: I've gotten to the point where in some like I
- 15:57Speaker 1: think I was talking about that pitcher is on a
- 16:00Speaker 1: draft and hold, I don't think a socks reliever went
- 16:05Speaker 1: off the board until like the forty fifth round that
- 16:07Speaker 1: there's just no kind of pitching that is like terribly interesting.
- 16:13Speaker 1: I mean, I've got a good name here for my
- 16:14Speaker 1: buy sell by pick. I guess I should explain that
- 16:18Speaker 1: that's what we are going to do. We're going to
- 16:20Speaker 1: do a buy, a sell, and a pick to click
- 16:22Speaker 1: prospect on each team. We don't know who each other's picked,
- 16:25Speaker 1: so we've got a little bit of a surprise element here.
- 16:29Speaker 1: All that kind of wrapped in here, Let's move on
- 16:32Speaker 1: to our buys for the White Sox. Jordan, I'm gonna
- 16:35Speaker 1: hit you up here first. What is your buy from
- 16:38Speaker 1: the Chicago White Sox.
- 16:40Speaker 2: So again, we're in the dregs. We're starting in the
- 16:44Speaker 2: dregs right away. The person that I'm going to pick, though,
- 16:48Speaker 2: I think is Miguel Vargas.
- 16:50Speaker 1: All right.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I like Vargas mostly just because his process at the
- 16:54Speaker 2: plate is strong. The damage numbers are what are concerning,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and I'll kind of get into that. The thing that
- 17:00Speaker 2: I kind of used to look at Vargas is that
- 17:02Speaker 2: he pulls the ball in the air a whole bunch.
- 17:06Speaker 2: He swings it competitive pitches later in counts, and like
- 17:10Speaker 2: doesn't really let a lot of pitches go past, so
- 17:12Speaker 2: he's not going to strike out a whole bunch. And
- 17:15Speaker 2: if you look at Robert Orr's Seager metric that he
- 17:21Speaker 2: did over at Baseball Perspectus, he and he being Miguel Vargas,
- 17:28Speaker 2: really did a good job at being aggressive and swinging
- 17:32Speaker 2: in competitive counts and swinging at competitive pitches as opposed
- 17:35Speaker 2: to lay and then go past. Really, the only thing
- 17:37Speaker 2: that he lacks compared to a lot of the other
- 17:38Speaker 2: guys that he's ranked alongside by that Seager metric is
- 17:42Speaker 2: just the damage that he did with pitches that he hit.
- 17:45Speaker 2: I think mostly the upside with Vargas is obviously there's
- 17:50Speaker 2: not going to really be a playing time concerned. He's
- 17:51Speaker 2: going to get a ton of a ton of at bats. Also,
- 17:55Speaker 2: the one little uptick that I have him as well
- 17:57Speaker 2: is that he is both outfield and third base eligible,
- 18:00Speaker 2: at least in NFBC leagues. I'm assuming that's also the
- 18:02Speaker 2: case in a lot of other leagues too, So having
- 18:06Speaker 2: that positional flexibility is also a huge upside for him.
- 18:08Speaker 2: So that's kind of who I went with here, and
- 18:10Speaker 2: he's going currently at least in n FBC drafts over
- 18:14Speaker 2: the past two weeks at pick five twenty nine, so
- 18:18Speaker 2: he is not hard to come by in a lot
- 18:20Speaker 2: of these leagues either, so I think that he's a
- 18:22Speaker 2: good person to take a stab at. You'll probably notice
- 18:24Speaker 2: also that a lot of my picks are going to
- 18:25Speaker 2: be people who are post three hundred generally, because that's
- 18:29Speaker 2: kind of the realm that I specialize in, is just
- 18:32Speaker 2: again the dregs, finding the value in the in the margins.
- 18:36Speaker 2: So yeah, that's why I like Miguil Vargus quite a bit.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think we're going to find all
- 18:42Speaker 1: of our White Sox players are down there in the dregs,
- 18:44Speaker 1: as well as a lot of these other players that
- 18:46Speaker 1: we're going to discuss. Yeah, I think this is a
- 18:49Speaker 1: fascinating pick because it is like you could tell when
- 18:53Speaker 1: he came over from the Dodgers that things went awry
- 18:58Speaker 1: for Vargus. I think probably just like the shock to
- 19:01Speaker 1: the system of going from one of the greatest teams
- 19:03Speaker 1: of all time to the worst team of all time
- 19:05Speaker 1: probably doesn't help. I am interested to see if he
- 19:08Speaker 1: like sought a little bit of like outside help, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 1: during the off season, because I do this does strike
- 19:14Speaker 1: me as a profile that like he needs some smart
- 19:18Speaker 1: coaches in his ears, and the White Socks are not
- 19:20Speaker 1: going to be offering that. I don't think so Kielan,
- 19:25Speaker 1: who are you gonna go here for your bye? And
- 19:28Speaker 1: any other kind of opening words that you have on
- 19:30Speaker 1: the White Sox to bury them a little bit more?
- 19:33Speaker 4: Oh my god, Yeah no, I going through this activity
- 19:40Speaker 4: felt very rootless, really, so felt kind of crazy looking
- 19:45Speaker 4: at it and trying to make sense of anything. Really
- 19:48Speaker 4: so I kind of went a little bonkers with it.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I'm not gonna lie. So I will say that saying
- 19:58Speaker 4: by feels like a strong, long word. I would say
- 20:01Speaker 4: more interested in how this turns out is probably a
- 20:06Speaker 4: better assessment of this situation. I'm very curious about how
- 20:11Speaker 4: Lenine Sosa is going to do this season. I again,
- 20:17Speaker 4: by seems strong. However, I think he had some fielding
- 20:22Speaker 4: issues last year. Those were embarrassing, quite embarrassing, especially towards
- 20:27Speaker 4: the end of the season, and he was pretty inconsistent
- 20:30Speaker 4: with hitting.
- 20:30Speaker 3: But he had some.
- 20:31Speaker 4: Flashes of brilliance that I think are possible again. And
- 20:35Speaker 4: I have read also that in some of the winter
- 20:38Speaker 4: leagues in Venezuela he's been crushing it.
- 20:41Speaker 3: So long term, I don't know how that's going to
- 20:44Speaker 3: turn out.
- 20:44Speaker 4: However, if I wanted to be insane and just pick
- 20:50Speaker 4: a White Sox player, I would try him out.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I'll say that, yes, yes, I.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Mean, I don't think it's a bad call of special
- 21:00Speaker 1: the price that you're looking at. I've got the NFBC
- 21:05Speaker 1: ADP data up since the beginning of the year through
- 21:08Speaker 1: today going around pick four thirty and second and third
- 21:13Speaker 1: base eligible. If it works, you could have a league
- 21:16Speaker 1: average bat that kind of subs in for you. I
- 21:18Speaker 1: think there are going to be plenty of use cases
- 21:21Speaker 1: for him in in deep leagues that I think this
- 21:24Speaker 1: is a goodbye. All right. I'll get into mind because
- 21:27Speaker 1: I will say too that Jeremy did provide a couples
- 21:30Speaker 1: in his absence for some of the teams did not
- 21:32Speaker 1: even want to touch the White Sox. So we don't
- 21:35Speaker 1: have a White Sox player from him my buye here.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's Sean Burke. So the market here is starting to
- 21:41Speaker 1: pick this up because he is the fourth highest drafted
- 21:45Speaker 1: White Sox player in the ADP data, going at a
- 21:49Speaker 1: very low four to nine, so still very affordable. But
- 21:54Speaker 1: certainly people have been checking out the work that he
- 21:57Speaker 1: put up last year in those starts at the end
- 21:59Speaker 1: of the season, so it was only four games, three starts,
- 22:03Speaker 1: nineteen innings pitched last year, but he put up a
- 22:05Speaker 1: ten point four K nine to go with a one
- 22:08Speaker 1: forty two ERA and a three three two FIP that
- 22:11Speaker 1: this seems to be a profile that will work for
- 22:15Speaker 1: the White Sox. He's also just like a great workhorse
- 22:18Speaker 1: pitcher six six, two thirty should open the season in
- 22:22Speaker 1: the rotation, and I think this is the type of
- 22:25Speaker 1: guy where they're going to just let him play the
- 22:27Speaker 1: entire season. So as the White Sox developed more and
- 22:31Speaker 1: more players, I think you'll see like the likes of
- 22:34Speaker 1: you know, no Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith maybe get
- 22:37Speaker 1: an opportunity layer in this year. But until then, Sean
- 22:40Speaker 1: Burke might just hold down this rotation. And I mean,
- 22:43Speaker 1: the wins are going to be very difficult to come by.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But if you're looking for somebody with a solid ERA,
- 22:49Speaker 1: good strikeout potential going really late in drafts, I think
- 22:52Speaker 1: you can do much much worse than John Burke right now, Okay,
- 22:58Speaker 1: with that, let's move into ourselves then. So I think
- 23:01Speaker 1: we've probably got plenty maybe or maybe none because there's
- 23:06Speaker 1: it's hard to sell from the end of the draft
- 23:08Speaker 1: here for the White Sox. But Jordan, do you have one?
- 23:12Speaker 2: I do, and it's funny because it's Louis Robert Junior.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It's mine too, Yay.
- 23:21Speaker 3: It's not. But I agree with you guys, so yeah.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Yeah, my reasoning, I don't know. I don't know if
- 23:27Speaker 2: my reasoning is the same as yours, Mike, but yeah,
- 23:30Speaker 2: for me, it's mostly just that the offense that surrounds
- 23:33Speaker 2: him is so inept that the counting stats feel like
- 23:35Speaker 2: they're going to be terrible. And also he's had his
- 23:37Speaker 2: own injury issues and hasn't really played many full seasons
- 23:42Speaker 2: in his career, so I worry about him in terms
- 23:44Speaker 2: of the counting stat that he's going to provide. I
- 23:46Speaker 2: think there's other outfielders in a similar like adp range
- 23:49Speaker 2: that I would rather take that I feel like we
- 23:51Speaker 2: are going to be more reliable than him. So yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 2: that's kind of where I'm at with him. I don't
- 23:56Speaker 2: know about you.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Though, Yeah, I totally agree. I mean, currently costing you
- 24:00Speaker 1: probably about like a fifth round pick to try to
- 24:05Speaker 1: dream on the upside of like a twenty five to
- 24:07Speaker 1: twenty five season that. I just I think it's in there.
- 24:10Speaker 1: It's not happening with the White Sox though, And I
- 24:12Speaker 1: don't think they've got any reason to push him through
- 24:15Speaker 1: any kind of Nixon knacks in terms of sprains, strains,
- 24:22Speaker 1: the list, the litany of injuries is just absurd at
- 24:25Speaker 1: this point, between wrists and hamstrings and hips and abductors
- 24:32Speaker 1: and obliques and ankles. Maybe he hasn't hurt his head,
- 24:37Speaker 1: that's about it. No, he had a neck issue at
- 24:40Speaker 1: some point, I believe, And so like he plays really hard,
- 24:44Speaker 1: which is not great on his body, and the Socks
- 24:46Speaker 1: have no medical staff to speak of, I think, And
- 24:50Speaker 1: so that's really what is limited here him here, And
- 24:54Speaker 1: even if he does get traded to a better situation,
- 24:56Speaker 1: I think you're going to be waiting for so long
- 24:58Speaker 1: until the deadline that is, it's just not worth it
- 25:01Speaker 1: for what you're paying up for. Luis Robert Junior right now,
- 25:06Speaker 1: what do you think, Kilan, You've seen all that firsthand
- 25:09Speaker 1: that I have a feeling you're in the same boat.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah, No, absolutely, I agree.
- 25:13Speaker 4: That's why this whole, this whole thing is like I'm
- 25:15Speaker 4: I pretty much was like, I'm not even gonna look
- 25:17Speaker 4: at him in this exercise because it's just like there's
- 25:21Speaker 4: him and then Andrew Vaughn and then everybody else pretty much.
- 25:27Speaker 4: And yeah, I just was like, it seems weird to
- 25:29Speaker 4: even talk about him here, even though I agree.
- 25:32Speaker 3: With both of you, like there's not even like even
- 25:37Speaker 3: from a non.
- 25:39Speaker 4: Playing standpoint, just any sort of motivation to do well
- 25:42Speaker 4: with this team like that alone is scary. So I
- 25:50Speaker 4: think I went a different route because, like I said,
- 25:52Speaker 4: for me, I was like, it's not even really worth
- 25:54Speaker 4: talking about. I figured we would at some point. I
- 25:59Speaker 4: was surprised how Hi, Andrew Bin and Tindi was going,
- 26:03Speaker 4: So I, uh.
- 26:04Speaker 3: He was mine.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great call.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I was a little surprised, And I don't know,
- 26:10Speaker 4: maybe it's because I'm so jaded as this point by
- 26:13Speaker 4: by how much he you know, he's gotten paid. But
- 26:15Speaker 4: I again, certainly I for me, I saw that and
- 26:19Speaker 4: it was it was a little a little surprising, but.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Maybe you'll turn.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Yeah, this is definitely one where he looks great on
- 26:28Speaker 1: a value sheet when you're getting that late in a draft,
- 26:31Speaker 1: because he's got like every production's gone pegged for like
- 26:36Speaker 1: two fifty to two sixty ish average, you know, like
- 26:41Speaker 1: foll ish playing time with fifteen bombs and seven stolen bases,
- 26:45Speaker 1: and that looks great, but he hit two twenty nine
- 26:49Speaker 1: last year, and even that that was buoyed by a
- 26:52Speaker 1: really great second half that like came out of nowhere.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Is he just kind of I think just people weren't
- 27:00Speaker 1: afraid of the White Sox lineup, so they were able
- 27:02Speaker 1: to just pump it in there. You're also honestly in
- 27:04Speaker 1: roster resource. They have him slated for a platoon right now,
- 27:08Speaker 1: and so the only kind of benefit to Ben and
- 27:11Speaker 1: Tendee is the full playing time if he can use
- 27:15Speaker 1: it to accumulate. But if he's not getting those at
- 27:17Speaker 1: bats against left handed pitchers, there's no point in him. Yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 1: all right, let's move on to some prospect click because
- 27:28Speaker 1: I think this will be maybe a little less depressing. Jordan,
- 27:32Speaker 1: what route are you going to go? Here? So?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Actually I put three down, so I'm hoping that I
- 27:38Speaker 2: at least have so like one of them, well sorry,
- 27:40Speaker 2: two of them are part of the same side of
- 27:42Speaker 2: a coin, kind of like flip it pick which one
- 27:45Speaker 2: you think is going to emerge?
- 27:46Speaker 1: Maybe do you want to go last? Possibly? So that
- 27:50Speaker 1: coin inside, So.
- 27:51Speaker 2: That way I can add on or like, maybe I
- 27:54Speaker 2: won't steal one of yours again.
- 27:56Speaker 1: No, that's the entire that makes this game fun, especially
- 28:00Speaker 1: like when the steel comes, it's one person's buying one
- 28:03Speaker 1: person's sell, so kelan, I will pass it over to
- 28:05Speaker 1: you to see what your prospect pick to click is.
- 28:08Speaker 4: So I also had like four because I can just yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 4: I mean there are you know, I think with the
- 28:17Speaker 4: White Sox, the thing is they. I mean, anybody that
- 28:20Speaker 4: is field player pretty much is doesn't have a good
- 28:26Speaker 4: chance of coming out all right with the White Sox.
- 28:29Speaker 4: So mostly I looked at pictures and catchers.
- 28:33Speaker 3: I'm like, should I just name off one here?
- 28:38Speaker 4: I like part of this this is backed up by stats,
- 28:41Speaker 4: but also just in general reading about him, this is
- 28:44Speaker 4: a semi emotional pick.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I don't want to say his last name either, Edgar
- 28:50Speaker 3: Harol Harol, Yep, yep.
- 28:51Speaker 4: I'm very much into him, you know. I've read a
- 28:57Speaker 4: few things about some of his filding issues and things
- 29:01Speaker 4: like that.
- 29:01Speaker 3: But also it's like he's still really young.
- 29:03Speaker 4: I like what his stats are from the Miners, and
- 29:07Speaker 4: I think he had Yeah, for twenty twenty four, he
- 29:09Speaker 4: had sixteen home runs and seventy RBIs So I like that,
- 29:14Speaker 4: and I like just in general reading about him, you know,
- 29:18Speaker 4: it sounds like he's very motivated. I'm curious how the
- 29:23Speaker 4: situation is going to work out with you know, the
- 29:27Speaker 4: existing White Sox veteran catchers in him and see that
- 29:31Speaker 4: in spring training. But overall, I feel pretty good about
- 29:36Speaker 4: what he looks like in that mix. I was going
- 29:39Speaker 4: to go with a picture at first, but I was
- 29:41Speaker 4: like no, because I figured both of you would or
- 29:46Speaker 4: one of you at a mid of them.
- 29:47Speaker 1: Yeah, Jordan was Carol one of your your coins.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah, Carol was one side of the coin. The other
- 29:52Speaker 2: side of the coin would be Kyle Teal, who the
- 29:55Speaker 2: Socks got back from the Red Sox in the Caricochet deal. Uh.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Their ADPs are pretty similar over the past few weeks
- 30:05Speaker 2: on NFBC. I feel like that's kind of where it's at,
- 30:07Speaker 2: is that it is a poin flip. Obviously other people
- 30:09Speaker 2: in the mix, Corey Lee. I believe the White Sox
- 30:11Speaker 2: also signed Brewer's old friend Omar narvaias so Yeah, I mean,
- 30:18Speaker 2: so that's another one that's in the mix there. So
- 30:20Speaker 2: I don't really know what's going to shake how it's
- 30:21Speaker 2: going to shake out for the catcher situation, So that
- 30:25Speaker 2: was my other one. I feel like Teo at least
- 30:27Speaker 2: has got a fairly solid batting average floor. Like I
- 30:29Speaker 2: don't think the counting stats obviously, just like anyone else
- 30:32Speaker 2: on the socks are going to blow you out of
- 30:33Speaker 2: the water or anything like that, but I feel like
- 30:37Speaker 2: he would be like a safe, really late batting average
- 30:39Speaker 2: floor guy if you need like a second catcher in
- 30:41Speaker 2: a league. So those are two names that I thought
- 30:45Speaker 2: about as well.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think great picks. Both of them are
- 30:49Speaker 1: actually going in front of Corey Lee, currently the starting
- 30:53Speaker 1: catcher in the ADP data, so everybody is also predicting
- 30:58Speaker 1: that they'll get a decent amount of playing time here
- 31:01Speaker 1: going forward. So I'll do my pick to click to
- 31:05Speaker 1: see if I hit another one of years here. Jordan
- 31:09Speaker 1: Mine is Grant Taylor, oh so, right handed pitcher drafted
- 31:14Speaker 1: in twenty twenty three in the second round, but did
- 31:17Speaker 1: have a Tommy John surgery out of LSU. Was right
- 31:22Speaker 1: like there with Paul Skeins on that LSU Championship roster
- 31:26Speaker 1: from twenty twenty three. In terms of I think they
- 31:29Speaker 1: were the Friday Saturday starters, and the Socks took the
- 31:33Speaker 1: gamble on taking him in the second round of twenty
- 31:35Speaker 1: twenty three, even knowing that that Tommy John was in
- 31:39Speaker 1: his future. But he did get back on the mound
- 31:41Speaker 1: last year, got into sixteen innings down in a ball
- 31:46Speaker 1: but had a forty three point one k percentage against
- 31:50Speaker 1: just one point seven percent walk percentage. I think he's
- 31:54Speaker 1: going to be a fast riser given the violence in
- 31:57Speaker 1: his delivery and just that the White Sox want to
- 32:01Speaker 1: capitalize on what they can get out of Grant Taylor.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So I think that there's lots of leagues, especially in
- 32:07Speaker 1: keeper dynasty situations, where he's probably fallen off the radar
- 32:10Speaker 1: because of that injury that Taylor has been dealing with.
- 32:14Speaker 1: But I think there's a really great chance that he
- 32:17Speaker 1: can get to the majors this year, just because the
- 32:19Speaker 1: stuff is so nasty, there's no one really in front
- 32:23Speaker 1: of him, and worse comes to worse. I mean, he
- 32:26Speaker 1: can be a perfect closer here for the White Sox.
- 32:28Speaker 1: So I even in redraft leagues like you are in
- 32:32Speaker 1: some of these super deep fifty round draft and holds,
- 32:35Speaker 1: I don't think it's a bad kind of like last
- 32:37Speaker 1: pick to throw a dart at Grant Taylor.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that a lot. I mean it looks
- 32:42Speaker 2: looking at his prospect grades at least averround fangrafts like
- 32:45Speaker 2: really really good fastball projected to have future value for
- 32:48Speaker 2: both the slider around the curve ball to be averager
- 32:50Speaker 2: above average offerings. Command is the concern, but obviously, in
- 32:56Speaker 2: a very admitted to the small sample last year, he
- 32:58Speaker 2: did not walk many batters, so I think, yeah, definitely
- 33:02Speaker 2: in a solid art throw. This actually wasn't the other
- 33:04Speaker 2: one that I was going to pick.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Though, Yeah, and has an NRI right now too, non
- 33:09Speaker 1: roster invite boy, Taylors, So it will be fascinating to
- 33:12Speaker 1: see how it all unfolds. But yeah, who is your
- 33:14Speaker 1: other one here, Jordan?
- 33:16Speaker 2: It was Hagen Smith, Yes, okay, yeah, I mean just
- 33:19Speaker 2: elite fastball, elite slider, like didn't blow minor league hitters
- 33:23Speaker 2: away last year, but at the same time has like
- 33:25Speaker 2: that pedigree, was an elite pitcher at Arkansas. I think
- 33:28Speaker 2: that there's obviously not a ton of depth in terms
- 33:32Speaker 2: of talent in that starting rotation for the White Sox,
- 33:34Speaker 2: so I think that there's a chance at the end
- 33:36Speaker 2: of the year here that he'll be able to make
- 33:38Speaker 2: a few starts here there. I watched a lot of
- 33:45Speaker 2: Hagen Smith starts at the behest of one of my
- 33:49Speaker 2: very good friends who was an Arkansas fan, specifically Arkansas baseball,
- 33:53Speaker 2: and was really really impressed with what I saw. So
- 33:56Speaker 2: I think that's probably the person that I'm most in
- 33:59Speaker 2: on this year as far as a prospect for the
- 34:03Speaker 2: White House.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yes, I like it, and currying favor with JKJ too.
- 34:08Speaker 2: Oh beautiful.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Okay, well, let's move on to the Cleveland Guardians, who
- 34:13Speaker 1: won this division last year with a ninety two win,
- 34:17Speaker 1: ninety two and sixty nine record. Nice and nice, Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 1: they had one rainout. I guess I didn't realize that,
- 34:25Speaker 1: and so they're pretty much running it back at this point.
- 34:28Speaker 1: You know, they had They did move out Andre Simenez
- 34:31Speaker 1: and brought in Luis Ortis to that rotation in the swap,
- 34:35Speaker 1: but otherwise, I mean it's anchored by again, I think
- 34:39Speaker 1: he's future Hall of Famer Jose Ramirez is going to
- 34:42Speaker 1: be in the middle of this lineup along with kind
- 34:44Speaker 1: of this typical cast of Guardians characters and platoons. Strong rotation.
- 34:49Speaker 1: It looks like again along with probably the best bullpen
- 34:53Speaker 1: in baseball arguably, they do just kind of create these
- 34:56Speaker 1: dudes out of nowhere in Cleveland. So I think there's
- 34:58Speaker 1: always great opportunities to buy on the pitching side, and
- 35:02Speaker 1: even the minor league systems that it's pretty stocked, so
- 35:06Speaker 1: should be seeing more at bats for the likes of
- 35:08Speaker 1: you know, Kyle Manzardo and others that are coming through
- 35:12Speaker 1: the system like John Kinzy nowel all that considered, Jordan,
- 35:16Speaker 1: who are you going with on your buy here? All right?
- 35:20Speaker 2: So this is gonna be a little bit interesting. I
- 35:24Speaker 2: and it also kind of has something to do with
- 35:27Speaker 2: my cell I'm gonna say, Kate Smith.
- 35:32Speaker 1: All Right.
- 35:34Speaker 2: When you look at record projections from like fan graphs
- 35:37Speaker 2: and like Pakoda projections from Baseball Perspectus and everything like that,
- 35:41Speaker 2: they do not have the Guardians finishing very high in
- 35:44Speaker 2: that division. They lost Josh Naylor. Obviously. I don't think
- 35:50Speaker 2: that Carlos Santana, who they signed as a bad replacement
- 35:52Speaker 2: by any means, like that's a guy that's gonna give
- 35:54Speaker 2: you twenty plus Elmers, probably, But I feel like losing
- 35:58Speaker 2: Naylor is kind of ad to that lineup. I think
- 36:04Speaker 2: that there is a world based on projections currently where
- 36:08Speaker 2: the Guardians lose too many games, get too far behind,
- 36:11Speaker 2: and they end up being sellers. And I think they
- 36:13Speaker 2: trade am manual class for a hall of prospects, similar
- 36:17Speaker 2: in a similar bain to what the Brewers did in
- 36:20Speaker 2: choosing to trade away Josh Hater with another full year
- 36:24Speaker 2: left on his contract so they could get more in return. Uh,
- 36:30Speaker 2: That's where I'm at with that. So I think that
- 36:32Speaker 2: there's a very good chance that at some point during
- 36:34Speaker 2: the season Emmanuel class A gets dealt and then Kate
- 36:39Speaker 2: Smith takes on that closer role and ends up being
- 36:41Speaker 2: a full time closer.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and brew would agree with you because his cell
- 36:47Speaker 1: actually here. He did give us one for the Guardians
- 36:49Speaker 1: and it was Classe, which oh and I think also
- 36:52Speaker 1: probably goes a little bit hand in hand with you.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Just look at the luck metrics, A one ninety five
- 36:56Speaker 1: BABIT for Class A to T two, which is fantastic,
- 37:01Speaker 1: but a point six one ERA last year. It's all
- 37:04Speaker 1: kind of got to go one direction. But I'm on
- 37:06Speaker 1: board with you on Kate Smith because again, this is
- 37:10Speaker 1: like I've been trying to acquire more players like this
- 37:14Speaker 1: to bolster my teams. Is this type of reliever, if
- 37:17Speaker 1: he's putting up a three ERA with his strikeouts, is
- 37:21Speaker 1: worth a roster spot that when you punch it into
- 37:24Speaker 1: an auction calculator, it's always going to kick out positive
- 37:26Speaker 1: value in a mixed league. And Kate Smith can do that.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Just provide great ratios, save here or there, win here.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Are there lots of case better than some of the
- 37:36Speaker 1: options you get at starters nowadays. Keelan, who are you
- 37:39Speaker 1: gonna go with for your bye in Cleveland?
- 37:42Speaker 4: Yeah, so I went a little. Well, I feel safer
- 37:46Speaker 4: with this one, but it is definitely informed by injury history.
- 37:51Speaker 4: So I went with Steve Kwan. I'm very curious this
- 37:57Speaker 4: year since he was like crushing it last year and
- 38:01Speaker 4: then got hurt and you know, came back a little.
- 38:06Speaker 4: But I'm interested to see if he'll stay healthy what
- 38:11Speaker 4: that could be this year. I do think it could
- 38:15Speaker 4: be better. So I feel positive about it. But it
- 38:19Speaker 4: also felt I said it felt like a safer choice.
- 38:22Speaker 4: It really doesn't, because I feel like he will get hurt,
- 38:26Speaker 4: so but yeah, I feel like I want to see
- 38:29Speaker 4: that and I would go for it.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Personally, I like it, Yeah.
- 38:33Speaker 1: In terms of just great well rounded profile, great batting average.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah, he did a really good job last year early
- 38:42Speaker 2: in the years, specifically at He's not a guy who
- 38:45Speaker 2: hits the ball super duper hard, but he did hit
- 38:48Speaker 2: the ball at really ideal launch angles. Yeah, that maximize
- 38:54Speaker 2: and squeezed the most power that he could out of
- 38:56Speaker 2: his profile, which is really promising. So yeah, if you
- 38:58Speaker 2: can stay healthy for a full season, like there's a
- 39:00Speaker 2: world where he hits like fifteen plus home runs and
- 39:03Speaker 2: gives you thirty ish stolen bases over a full season
- 39:08Speaker 2: and where he's going like, that's a great value.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:11Speaker 4: I'm also curious too about what he can do with
- 39:14Speaker 4: stolen bases this season. I don't know how much you
- 39:18Speaker 4: know he was affected by that, but I think that's
- 39:20Speaker 4: another area too that would be very useful if like
- 39:24Speaker 4: we're saying he can stay healthy.
- 39:27Speaker 1: All right, Well, I have a separate by here. Mine
- 39:30Speaker 1: is actually Gavin Williams, who, honestly, in a couple more
- 39:34Speaker 1: weeks time, he might not be because he is quickly
- 39:37Speaker 1: starting to rise up draft boards because since the beginning
- 39:41Speaker 1: of the year it is an ADP of like two fifty,
- 39:45Speaker 1: but it's starting to rise pretty quickly, mid pick of
- 39:49Speaker 1: one ninety five, and a lot of it is just
- 39:53Speaker 1: where you kind of start parsing between like what happened
- 39:57Speaker 1: last year and what he produced in like his stuff.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Plus he's got a great arsenal five pitches that are
- 40:03Speaker 1: all round average or tick above average, solid fastball that
- 40:07Speaker 1: he can lean on. And he's a pitcher for the
- 40:09Speaker 1: Cleveland Guardians, so you always know there's kind of another
- 40:12Speaker 1: notch there. I think that Williams really struggled with He
- 40:16Speaker 1: was battling like a forearm slash elbow issue a lot
- 40:20Speaker 1: of last year. But I think putting that kind of
- 40:25Speaker 1: in the rear of your mirror a little bit, considering
- 40:28Speaker 1: he was around to get into that playoff run, and
- 40:31Speaker 1: especially where his price is. It's one of the last
- 40:34Speaker 1: pitchers I see that could turn into something akin to
- 40:38Speaker 1: a staff base for you in terms of fantasy, where
- 40:41Speaker 1: you're looking at somebody who could start pushing like a
- 40:43Speaker 1: ten k per nine and give you ten or twelve wins.
- 40:47Speaker 1: That Gavin Williams is one of those last players that
- 40:51Speaker 1: I think fits that bill. And like I said, in
- 40:54Speaker 1: a couple more weeks, maybe this won't be quite as
- 40:57Speaker 1: big of a buye because he's quickly rising up as
- 41:00Speaker 1: people kind of realize this and noticed that he had
- 41:03Speaker 1: a for eighty six array that was supported by a
- 41:05Speaker 1: three sixty seven fifth last year. So once a lot
- 41:08Speaker 1: of those metrics kind of come back, he's got a
- 41:11Speaker 1: solid profile. They'll just play really well for the Guardians. Okay,
- 41:16Speaker 1: let's get into our cells. Then, Jordan, who are you
- 41:20Speaker 1: selling from the Guardians?
- 41:23Speaker 2: So it was gonna be class A obviously, Like yeah,
- 41:25Speaker 2: Brew talked about that, and it's just like mostly what
- 41:28Speaker 2: I said about the idea that they might deal him,
- 41:34Speaker 2: and like you brought up the era obviously exceptional last year,
- 41:37Speaker 2: but there's going to be some regression to the me
- 41:39Speaker 2: and he's not going to be what he was last year.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I guess the other person that I could bring up
- 41:44Speaker 2: that I feel like I'm kind of out on is
- 41:46Speaker 2: John Kenzie. No, well, I was kind of blown away.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I was looking at ADP data from the past couple
- 41:53Speaker 2: of weeks and he has a minimum pick on NFBC
- 41:56Speaker 2: of one oh seven, which is an outlier, assuredly, But wow.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I love that. That's great. I love I want to
- 42:05Speaker 1: meet that person.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't know if I'm that enticed by
- 42:11Speaker 2: his particular profile, especially at even that like pick four
- 42:16Speaker 2: or fifteen, Like the power is obviously prodigious. I'm not
- 42:20Speaker 2: sure if I'm necessarily willing to stomach the hit that
- 42:22Speaker 2: I would probably take to my average. If he ends
- 42:27Speaker 2: up being like a Schwarber type where he's hitting like
- 42:29Speaker 2: two ten and hits like forty something home runs, obviously
- 42:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna look really really dumb because that's still valuable
- 42:34Speaker 2: on any given team. But I just don't know if
- 42:36Speaker 2: he is going to provide that for teams this year.
- 42:40Speaker 2: So I'm kind of out on him.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that makes sense and currently looks to
- 42:45Speaker 1: be slotted for a short side platoon, which does not
- 42:47Speaker 1: help anything at all. All right, who's yourself keeling?
- 42:52Speaker 3: I did pick class.
- 42:54Speaker 4: A Oh okay, yeah, so so yeah, I mean, I
- 43:00Speaker 4: agree that he reached a point where it's like I
- 43:03Speaker 4: would be surprised if he didn't regress, even though that
- 43:06Speaker 4: would be insane if he didn't. And then I think
- 43:09Speaker 4: also one thing, and it was, you know, just a
- 43:12Speaker 4: few games, but in the playoffs he was like rough. Yeah,
- 43:18Speaker 4: So I'm like, it's obviously kind of a grain of salt,
- 43:22Speaker 4: but I'm like, what was going on? So I'm curious
- 43:26Speaker 4: how that will end up this season. So that is
- 43:30Speaker 4: to say, yeah, I think right now he's just very high,
- 43:33Speaker 4: but I would still get him if I could. But yeah,
- 43:36Speaker 4: I think overall in general he's due for a little dip.
- 43:41Speaker 3: This year. So I spoke for Jeremy.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Yes, you both did.
- 43:46Speaker 3: We spoke for Jeremy. We're Jeremy.
- 43:51Speaker 1: We Yeah, I'm gonna go with mysell is. It's Lane
- 43:55Speaker 1: Thomas for me. He currently going around pick one eight,
- 43:58Speaker 1: so that's actually like a twelve round pick in the
- 44:01Speaker 1: draft champions data. I don't know if people realize, but
- 44:05Speaker 1: he was awful with the Guardians when he came over
- 44:09Speaker 1: that in the fifty three games after being traded there,
- 44:11Speaker 1: he slashed two nine, two, sixty seven three ninety only
- 44:15Speaker 1: still four bases in those fifty three games, as opposed
- 44:17Speaker 1: to twenty eight in his seventy seven games with the Nats.
- 44:20Speaker 1: The only value he was providing for you last year
- 44:23Speaker 1: because the just profile in terms of the hard hit
- 44:27Speaker 1: rate and the barrel rate is just pretty middling as well,
- 44:30Speaker 1: as you know, buoyed a lot by well. Actually I
- 44:35Speaker 1: thought he was the better defender than he actually is
- 44:37Speaker 1: not a great defender. So could lose time like over
- 44:41Speaker 1: or could lose playing time over the season as Lane Thomas.
- 44:45Speaker 1: You know, if the Guardians realized they need a real
- 44:47Speaker 1: center fielder there and they're just not going to run
- 44:50Speaker 1: the way that the Nats did. The Nationals had a
- 44:53Speaker 1: green light for anybody and everybody last year, and Lane
- 44:57Speaker 1: Thomas is not going to swipe thirty two bags again
- 44:59Speaker 1: this You'll be lucky, I think, to get fifteen out
- 45:02Speaker 1: of him on the Guardians. And so it is an
- 45:04Speaker 1: easy landman mine, I think sitting right there in the
- 45:07Speaker 1: middle of like that twelfth round. So do not Draftlinge Thomas. Okay,
- 45:13Speaker 1: let's get into our prospect pick to click. So, Jordan,
- 45:17Speaker 1: who are you going to pick out of this? It's
- 45:19Speaker 1: a fantastic system. I had a hard time whittling it down,
- 45:23Speaker 1: did you as well?
- 45:25Speaker 2: There was one person that I've been paying attention to
- 45:27Speaker 2: since last year when he had an amazing game in
- 45:31Speaker 2: late April. I think it was he had a start
- 45:33Speaker 2: that he made in low a ball where he struck
- 45:36Speaker 2: out fifteen and became very briefly prominent on baseball Twitter
- 45:43Speaker 2: at the time. And that is Matt Wilkinson, otherwise known
- 45:46Speaker 2: as tugboat, which is an amazing nickname. By the way,
- 45:51Speaker 2: so wellcomes into the lefty pitch between loway and high ball.
- 45:55Speaker 2: Last year he had I think it was like around
- 45:58Speaker 2: a thirteen k per nine between the two levels, a
- 46:02Speaker 2: K minus face on ball of nearly thirty. Like he
- 46:05Speaker 2: was dominating hitters at that level. Looked really, really good.
- 46:10Speaker 2: I just think that a guy with his profile, like
- 46:13Speaker 2: really solid fastball, He's not like overpowering hitters. His BILO
- 46:15Speaker 2: isn't amazing by any means, but he shows a pension
- 46:19Speaker 2: for being really competitive and dominating hitters at that little level.
- 46:22Speaker 2: I think that he's going to start in Double A
- 46:24Speaker 2: this year, and there's obviously between injuries what have you,
- 46:28Speaker 2: there's a chance that we could see him sometime later
- 46:31Speaker 2: this season, maybe make his debut, you make a spot start,
- 46:34Speaker 2: and it's just someone that's really fun to root for.
- 46:37Speaker 2: So I'm in on Matt Wilkinson.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I won't lie. I was not familiar with him, but
- 46:42Speaker 1: now I'm very familiar with him. Tugboat Baby, Yeah, six
- 46:47Speaker 1: one two seventy, that's where the tugboat nick nickname comes from.
- 46:51Speaker 1: That's for sure that.
- 46:52Speaker 2: I'm a fan. I'm a fan of absolute units, and
- 46:56Speaker 2: he is one.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he is quite the unit. I Yeah, I might
- 47:01Speaker 1: just have to include him in on my rasball post
- 47:03Speaker 1: for this because yeah, I want to watch this in
- 47:05Speaker 1: action too. It's got to be just like poetry in
- 47:08Speaker 1: motion trying to watch him pitch.
- 47:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it's great at pick.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Thank you. Who's your pick to click here? Kielan?
- 47:15Speaker 3: Yeah, so with this one, I'm not gonna lie.
- 47:17Speaker 4: I did not know much about Cleveland's prospects now I know,
- 47:22Speaker 4: so I kind of cheated with this.
- 47:23Speaker 3: One a little and went with uh, Chase the latter.
- 47:28Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean, obviously I had to read about
- 47:31Speaker 4: him very recently, so I think what I like about
- 47:34Speaker 4: him is just general. It seems like he's well rounded,
- 47:38Speaker 4: so I think that always it's great to have. And
- 47:42Speaker 4: then I think the one thing was I was looking
- 47:45Speaker 4: at his minor stats and they're kind of weird for
- 47:50Speaker 4: twenty twenty four. So hopefully that, you know, will be
- 47:53Speaker 4: improving as he kind of comes up through the system.
- 47:57Speaker 4: So that was more of a new one for me
- 47:59Speaker 4: as I'm familiar with their system that much.
- 48:02Speaker 3: Boom.
- 48:04Speaker 1: I like it. Yeah, great pick, great bat Gonna be
- 48:06Speaker 1: useful if you have an il spot though, because of
- 48:08Speaker 1: his history of foot injuries that I think they're always
- 48:13Speaker 1: going to be there. But you can't deny that bat.
- 48:16Speaker 1: It's a crazy good bat. Okay. My pick to click
- 48:21Speaker 1: here is he's actually slated to be the starting second baseman.
- 48:26Speaker 1: It's Juan Brito. So he came over in the trade
- 48:28Speaker 1: for Nolan Jones from the Colorado Rockies, put up a
- 48:32Speaker 1: fantastic here at Triple A with a one thirteen WRC
- 48:35Speaker 1: plus twenty one homers, which Columbus is a bit homer friendly,
- 48:40Speaker 1: so take that with a little bit of grain of salt.
- 48:42Speaker 1: But thirteen Stone bases, ninety two runs and eighty four
- 48:45Speaker 1: harpi over his one hundred and forty four games at
- 48:48Speaker 1: Triple A. I think there's a reason why they moved
- 48:52Speaker 1: Andre Siminez out in Cleveland, that they were ready for
- 48:55Speaker 1: Juan Brito to take over in going into his age
- 48:58Speaker 1: twenty three season. I think it's a great bat. Where
- 49:02Speaker 1: like the batting average, I think all of the projections
- 49:06Speaker 1: are under on him because you look at the prospect reports,
- 49:10Speaker 1: Fangrafts has him as a fifty current sixty future on
- 49:13Speaker 1: the hip tool and all the batting averages for the
- 49:18Speaker 1: projections are in like the two thirties. I think this
- 49:20Speaker 1: is a guy who can at least hit league average
- 49:23Speaker 1: to fifty, but you could be looking at some upside
- 49:25Speaker 1: from there and then yeah, if he's just playing for Cleveland.
- 49:28Speaker 1: I love the Zips projection. Actually, I think it nails
- 49:31Speaker 1: about what I expect from Juan Brito this year with
- 49:33Speaker 1: thirteen homers, seven storm bases, seventy three runs, and sixty
- 49:38Speaker 1: eight RBI. Considering how late he is going in drafts,
- 49:42Speaker 1: I mean, you can't beat that at second base, which
- 49:45Speaker 1: is just a future position here for Fantasy twenty twenty five. Okay,
- 49:52Speaker 1: with that, we are going to move on to the
- 49:54Speaker 1: Detroit Tigers, who made a miraculous run to the playoffs
- 49:58Speaker 1: last year to secure a wild card spot. Probably gonna
- 50:02Speaker 1: be right in that mix again, as they just added
- 50:05Speaker 1: Jack Flaherty last week, which was really awesome to see.
- 50:08Speaker 1: I think that was a great landing spot and reunion
- 50:11Speaker 1: for him. And going into the twenty twenty five season,
- 50:17Speaker 1: you know, they should still be looking at a pretty
- 50:19Speaker 1: similar lineup as to what they had last year. In fact,
- 50:22Speaker 1: I don't even know if they actually have anybody new,
- 50:25Speaker 1: and they except for Glabor Taurus, who I should have
- 50:28Speaker 1: known because he might be coming up for me in
- 50:30Speaker 1: a little bit. And so otherwise you got Tarik Scoble
- 50:34Speaker 1: returning off of his young effort, and a mix and
- 50:38Speaker 1: match bullpen, which I think will be fascinating and frustrating
- 50:41Speaker 1: for all of us fantasy players getting into twenty twenty five.
- 50:44Speaker 1: All these considerations, Jordan, who is your buye from the
- 50:48Speaker 1: Detroit Tigers.
- 50:49Speaker 2: I've been stumping to this person for months in group
- 50:53Speaker 2: chats on Discord and did a piece on him. I
- 50:57Speaker 2: did a panel with my former podcast co host Chris
- 51:00Speaker 2: Webber otherwise known as Shwebzy for PITCHCN, the charity event
- 51:04Speaker 2: that Pittureless runs every year. Tyler Holton is the person
- 51:09Speaker 2: that I am super duper in on just Elite Contact
- 51:12Speaker 2: Suppressor made some really interesting changes once he got signed
- 51:17Speaker 2: by the Tigers after he was defaed by the Diamondbacks
- 51:20Speaker 2: back in twenty twenty three. He's been one of the
- 51:25Speaker 2: most reliable relievers in that time. He's interesting because he
- 51:32Speaker 2: gets a decent amount of volume as a reliever, like
- 51:35Speaker 2: he threw ninety plus innings the past couple of years.
- 51:38Speaker 2: The strikeouts aren't amazing by any means. But his whip
- 51:41Speaker 2: has been sub zero point nine both seasons, and his
- 51:46Speaker 2: ERA is hovering right around two. So you're getting a
- 51:48Speaker 2: ton of volume that comparable of like some of these
- 51:52Speaker 2: pitchers that are throwing like only one and one hundred
- 51:56Speaker 2: and twenty innings for getting close to that. But he's
- 51:59Speaker 2: providing ratios throughout that whole time. And he's the type
- 52:03Speaker 2: of person that aj Hinch has said that he is
- 52:05Speaker 2: going to be pitching in every single inning in a
- 52:07Speaker 2: game this season from one through nine. At some point.
- 52:11Speaker 2: He's currently slated on roster resource as being one of
- 52:15Speaker 2: the potential closers for the team. So there is a
- 52:18Speaker 2: chance that with the volume that he pitches and the
- 52:21Speaker 2: role that he plays, that he could get both double
- 52:23Speaker 2: digit saves and wins this year fairly easily. And I
- 52:25Speaker 2: think with the ratios as far as like Eer and
- 52:28Speaker 2: Whipper concerned that he provides, that he's going to be
- 52:32Speaker 2: a super good value. Also, he's the only person we're
- 52:34Speaker 2: going to talk about today probably that had an MVP
- 52:36Speaker 2: vote last year.
- 52:39Speaker 1: That is a good point. Yeah, so I turn it, Yeah,
- 52:43Speaker 1: it probably is. I love this pick in the Draft
- 52:47Speaker 1: Champions data since the beginning of this year. His average
- 52:53Speaker 1: pick is forty three, which is absurd to me because like,
- 52:57Speaker 1: this is the exact person you want in Draft champions
- 53:00Speaker 1: in terms of you want a picture you can always throw,
- 53:04Speaker 1: who'll give you great ratios, Probably the only player in
- 53:07Speaker 1: the entire player pool that might push double digit wins
- 53:09Speaker 1: and double digit saves in a nice little like Mike
- 53:13Speaker 1: Marshall recreation. And so I love Tyler Holton. I've been
- 53:17Speaker 1: snatching him up in lots of places too because of
- 53:19Speaker 1: all these considerations you've been talking about, and like he's
- 53:22Speaker 1: just such a great weapon for stash him on your bench.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Oh I don't have enough pictures to throw this week. Boom,
- 53:29Speaker 1: Tyler Holton's in there. Or maybe he just becomes a
- 53:31Speaker 1: permanent fixture if he takes over as the closer. Yeah, Kelan,
- 53:36Speaker 1: who you buying from the Detroit Tigers?
- 53:40Speaker 3: Who am I buying?
- 53:42Speaker 4: I am buying Parker Meadows this year. I think last year,
- 53:47Speaker 4: after his demotion, he came back and kind of crushed
- 53:50Speaker 4: it that and I think with this this fielding, I
- 53:53Speaker 4: think for me that was very very obvious this year,
- 53:57Speaker 4: So going with him.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Here, Yeah, I think this is a great sneaky pick
- 54:03Speaker 1: for fifteen, fifteen or a twenty twenty season. Considering where
- 54:07Speaker 1: he's going in drafts, I think, I mean, lots of
- 54:10Speaker 1: people are keen in, but where people are taking him
- 54:13Speaker 1: right now, I don't. It's not quite as like he's
- 54:17Speaker 1: projected to hit lead off for this team. And I
- 54:19Speaker 1: think a lot of like Brew's actually pick here was
- 54:22Speaker 1: Carry Carpenter, which I Brew, I confuse Meadows and Carpenter
- 54:29Speaker 1: a lot in my head. So I've got to like
- 54:30Speaker 1: really work on like spacing that out just generic white
- 54:34Speaker 1: dudes who are electing the hitters, you know.
- 54:36Speaker 4: Yeah, So yeah, yeah, I have seen It's interesting that
- 54:40Speaker 4: I've seen a mixed bag on Carry Carpenter, so I
- 54:45Speaker 4: can see, yeah, why he would do that, and maybe
- 54:48Speaker 4: he did get the next that'd be so funny.
- 54:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely am.
- 54:52Speaker 4: I don't have Carry Carpenter as myself, so but I
- 54:56Speaker 4: this year, I definitely am not as much about him
- 55:01Speaker 4: as last year.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And I mean this is a guy who Carpenter
- 55:06Speaker 1: constantly is popping in Bruce models. I know, just in
- 55:09Speaker 1: terms of the bat of ball quality that I think
- 55:13Speaker 1: he was included in maybe Bruce list of like possible
- 55:17Speaker 1: next Sprent Rookers that. Certainly the platoon issues might crop
- 55:21Speaker 1: up here and there for Carpenter, but he's young enough
- 55:23Speaker 1: where he might just they might let him play given
- 55:26Speaker 1: what they're working with in Detroit.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Yeah, he was.
- 55:30Speaker 4: He had a hamstring injury later last season, that's right. Yeah,
- 55:33Speaker 4: I'm curious how that might impact him as well if
- 55:36Speaker 4: they do let him play.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Well my buye is actually one of
- 55:41Speaker 1: the off season acquisitions. It's Jack Flaherty because I mean,
- 55:46Speaker 1: I think especially the way that his season ended with
- 55:49Speaker 1: the Dodgers and the blow to dra and the stuff
- 55:53Speaker 1: kind of backing up. We talked about this a little
- 55:55Speaker 1: bit when he was acquired last week that I think
- 55:57Speaker 1: he just wore down. It was the second most inning
- 56:00Speaker 1: Jack Flurry to have her thrown. Honestly, I don't even
- 56:02Speaker 1: think he expected himself to throw that many innings, So
- 56:05Speaker 1: he probably didn't quite have the prep or the mental
- 56:08Speaker 1: fortitude to kind of like think that all the way through.
- 56:12Speaker 1: And I think he just ran out of gas down
- 56:14Speaker 1: the stretch that he was pitching for that contract while
- 56:17Speaker 1: he was in Detroit. Doesn't get better from like a
- 56:21Speaker 1: park than pitching in Detroit, especially for the first couple
- 56:24Speaker 1: of months. Of the year when everything's still frozen up
- 56:26Speaker 1: in Michigan. And yeah, it's just as simple as looking
- 56:29Speaker 1: at the split last year and the one hundred and
- 56:31Speaker 1: six and two thirds innings that Flaherty pitched with the Tigers.
- 56:35Speaker 1: He had a two ninety five RA with an eleven
- 56:37Speaker 1: point two K nine, won seven games. I think all
- 56:41Speaker 1: of the projections aren't picking that up because I think
- 56:44Speaker 1: they're they're relying a little bit more on the stuff
- 56:47Speaker 1: more than they have in the in the past. And
- 56:50Speaker 1: obviously that backed up when he went to the Dodgers,
- 56:52Speaker 1: but with an offseason arrest and landing back in Comerica
- 56:57Speaker 1: Park against the ale Central, I think we're looking at
- 57:01Speaker 1: Jack Flerdy kind of turning back into something like a
- 57:04Speaker 1: mid threes era with ten and a half K nine
- 57:08Speaker 1: going into the season. It's just kind of if you
- 57:10Speaker 1: get the chance to sell him before he tails off
- 57:12Speaker 1: at the end of the season, maybe not a bad idea.
- 57:16Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent of park upgrade and a division upgrade,
- 57:19Speaker 2: so I would be in on him as well. It's
- 57:21Speaker 2: a good pick.
- 57:22Speaker 1: All right, Well, let's get into some cells here for Detroit. Jordan,
- 57:25Speaker 1: who are you selling from the Tigers?
- 57:28Speaker 2: I'm ready to be crucified. I'm gonna say, Trek.
- 57:30Speaker 1: Schooble, oh here, it is okay at his price.
- 57:34Speaker 2: I just I mean, he's a lad. I'm not saying
- 57:37Speaker 2: that it's bad, it's just at his price. I feel
- 57:39Speaker 2: like in this day and age when you're drafting, I've
- 57:43Speaker 2: gotten burned by it multiple times in the past. When
- 57:45Speaker 2: you take that sp one so early in a draft,
- 57:49Speaker 2: you're hamstringing yourself so much on the offensive side, and
- 57:52Speaker 2: I feel like it's more important than ever. It's nothing
- 57:55Speaker 2: about him, that's the thing. He's amazing. I think he's
- 57:58Speaker 2: going to be great, But in drafts this year, I
- 58:02Speaker 2: feel like you really really have to prioritize offense and
- 58:05Speaker 2: like getting a good power speed combo with one of
- 58:07Speaker 2: those early picks. So that's why I'm off of Trek
- 58:09Speaker 2: Schooble at his price minimum pick of nine in the
- 58:12Speaker 2: past two weeks on an FBC, So I just can't
- 58:17Speaker 2: justify doing that in the first round.
- 58:21Speaker 1: I mean, you're on a rasball podcast, so I'm not
- 58:24Speaker 1: going to disagree with you that. Like, I agree, all
- 58:27Speaker 1: of the everything is there from a skills standpoint, a
- 58:33Speaker 1: production standpoint, but no, I can't do it in the
- 58:37Speaker 1: first or second round either that especially you look at
- 58:40Speaker 1: his injury history too. It does in the violence that
- 58:42Speaker 1: he pitches with it, just I don't fully trust it
- 58:45Speaker 1: yet either. What do you think, Klan is? Are you
- 58:49Speaker 1: on the Treek schoogle train in the first round or
- 58:52Speaker 1: are you also kind of in this ras ball mentality
- 58:55Speaker 1: that we preach a lot in terms of just waiting
- 58:58Speaker 1: for that picture a couple of rounds.
- 59:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I usually I usually wait because I've been burned
- 59:05Speaker 4: many times. Even when I have waited, I've been burned,
- 59:08Speaker 4: Which maybe that's some sort of weird like self fulfilling thing.
- 59:12Speaker 4: I don't know, but I usually wait quite.
- 59:15Speaker 3: A few rounds before I do.
- 59:17Speaker 4: And then I think it's the same thing we were
- 59:19Speaker 4: kind of talking about with Class A in terms of
- 59:22Speaker 4: like it was pretty good, so the chance to regress
- 59:27Speaker 4: is there as well.
- 59:29Speaker 1: All right, well, who are you going to go with
- 59:31Speaker 1: your bi then? Or sell? Sorry yourself?
- 59:33Speaker 3: No, that's okay, I was like, which are we on?
- 59:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm gonna call this a cell even though
- 59:40Speaker 4: I don't know that.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Many people.
- 59:43Speaker 4: Have selling to do. It's more of just the situation
- 59:46Speaker 4: unfolding has been really interesting I think with especially compared
- 59:52Speaker 4: to where they used to be Spencer Torgulsen. I it's
- 59:57Speaker 4: really interesting. I think how how kind of turned out,
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: especially you know, I remember, I think it was like
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: two or three years ago watching him with Riley Green
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: and just how their trajectories have turned out. And I'm
- 1:00:11Speaker 4: really interested in terms of how, Yeah, Glabor Torre is
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: coming in is going to well, I mean it's definitely
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: affected Spencer Torkolsen, but you know, Colt Keith is getting
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: moved to first base, which could be good considering his injuries.
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: I don't know, we'll see, but yeah, I mean it
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: seems like at this point, I don't know what it
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: would would take him to get back at any point
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: besides somebody else getting injured Spencer Torklssen. So yeah, that's
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: more of just like something that's stood out to me
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: just thinking of the past few seasons about where he's
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: been and where he's going.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And I'm in the same boat in terms
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: of just like I don't think I'm ever back in
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: on the Torkosen experience was more often the miners, even
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: for him last year that it's.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Gone, it does seem gone.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, my cell I alluded to it a little bit.
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: It's g labor Torres here that I don't get the
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: projections here that I mean, I'm not like a algorithm
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: like guru or anything. But how does this guy is
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: another year older? He put up his worst year ever,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: worst barrel well wors sparrel rate since twenty twenty, whor's
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: hard to hit rate ever? Did that all in New York.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Now in fewer played appearances. All the projections are calling
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: for him to hit more homers than he did last year,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: steal more bases than he did last year, even though
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: stolen bases are usually a hallmark of a walk year.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Only stole four last year. That was like the one
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: thing when Torres like, coming into last year, I had
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: a few shares just because like I was counting on
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: like that sticking around to be able to get ten
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: stolen based album. But I just don't see how this
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: works in Comerica Park, It's one of the worst hitters
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: parks in all of baseball. On top of it, he
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: is gonna be in a lot of cold weather parks
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: to begin the season. That like it's just not gonna
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: come together. I think that this is like the chance
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: to really bottom out, Like I think that, like there's
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: a possibility the euro can at maybe like a two
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: forty average and like fewer than ten homers from glabor
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Tors that the floor is just super super low here,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: and even though second base is pretty thin, I think
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: you can do better finding some upside chances around where
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: Glabor's going in terms of the two hundred and thirtieth
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: average ish pick. Since the being in the year and
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: draft champion state of so it's not like lots of
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: people are in on him, but I'm fading him even
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: farther than that that it's a it's a total like
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: stay away from glabor Tors coming into this year for me.
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a massive park town great for him. I
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: don't really like him either. I'm kind of in the
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: same boat as you here.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just I don't know how he even revives
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: his career kind of too, it's gonna take a lot,
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: I think that. I mean, this would have been a
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: great person to go to Colorado. I would have pushed
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: for that if I were. Yeah, but okay, let's get
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: into our prospect pics to click. So, Jordan, who's yours here?
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: It's probably Cold Keith. I mean, obviously the full buy
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: in by the team just turning him into a first
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: baseman also a plus. He's going to be first base
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: and second base eligible at some point this season, which
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: is always nice to have in leagues. He seemed to
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: get a lot more comfortable as the season went on,
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: and so much like Braddy Green in his first taste
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: was a after he kind of settled in, he was
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: fantastic too. So I have a lot of faith in
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Cold Keith at ADP. He's going actually slightly after Glabor Torres,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: and I would much prefer to have Cold Keith be
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: my second basement on my fantasy teams than Labor Torres
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: at this point. So that's kind of where I'm at
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: with that.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree here. This is a great pick.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: He was one of my buys that I considered as
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: well because lots of people gave up with him. He
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: did his first home till May twenty fourth last year.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: From May twenty fourth on one to eleven WRC plus
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: two seventy two three eighteen four to twenty four slug
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: that is a heck of a slash line with just
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: He's a good, solid hitter and you're looking at guy
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: who's walking to his age twenty three season. I think
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: this is a fantastic pick.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: Look, Dylan, who's your pick here?
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: I picked Jackson. I don't know if it's job or Joby.
- 1:04:31Speaker 4: I even saw him play persons.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: It's actually Jubbin yeah, Jobby.
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: Joebidaia Uh yeah, I uh so one.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: I mean I really like his his minor league numbers,
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: and then you know, he got to debut last September,
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: I think, and.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: He got to play.
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: I believe he played a little bit, yeah, in the playoffs,
- 1:04:52Speaker 4: which was like Whoa's surprising, but he did pretty well.
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: So I mean, if you can handle that sort of
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: a very short term pressure. But if he can handle
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: that sort of pressure, then yeah, I feel pretty good
- 1:05:04Speaker 4: about him.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Every time he would come play, my brother and.
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: I'd be like job, I don't think we knew how
- 1:05:10Speaker 4: to say his name. So yeah, I feel I feel
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: pretty good about how he's looking for the future.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is a great pick if you're
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: looking for somebody who can really get to that next level.
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: I think he's only been pitching for a few years too,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: because he was mostly a shortstop in high school and
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: so yeah, there's still more meat on the bone. I
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: think in terms of development and where he can go
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: great pitcher spark, I think this is a great pick. Okay,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: I hope I pronounced this correct. I'm gonna go with
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: hot You Lee here for my pick, partly because of
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: like my fate of glabor. Torres Lee came over from
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: the Philadelphia system and is a second baseman, has a
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: non roster invite going into the spring, and I'm he
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: crushed it at Double A last year for the Tigers.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: Hit two ninety eight, three sixty three, four eighty eight
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: in double A with twelve homer sixteen stolen bases. The
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: if anything, the hit tool here, it seems like maybe,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: I mean, Fangrass has this a thirty current forty future,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: But he's really shown the ability to make great contact,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: has a good eye, you know, has walked at a
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: double digit rate in most of his stops, and the
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: strikeout rate is not absurd considering what type of power
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: he's holding in that bat, and then you just kind
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: of layer it all together that it does seem like
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: this is a guy who has gotten kind of lost
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: in the shuffle of middle infield prospects in the landscape
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: of the league that I think there's a great chance
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: that he comes up and gets significant playing time for
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: the Tigers this year, as they just need somebody to
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: be able to provide some value at the back end
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: of that lineup. So I love the Zips lines here
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: two fifty nine, three, fourteen, four to fourteen slash line
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: from Zips with ten homers and nine stone bases over
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: four hundred at bats or four hundred play appearances. So
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I mean this. I think Lee's got great potential to
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: be a fifteen to fifteen bat going forward, and I
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: think now is the time to buy before he kind
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: of especially if he is hot in spring training and
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: opens up very well in Triple A. I think he's
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: going to be a fast riser in dynasty leagues. Okay,
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: well that gets us out of Michigan and we're going
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: to go to Missouri, not Kansas to get to the
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Kansasay Royals, which this is a fascinating team. I can't
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys got it right here.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: My big old Baseball Prospective Annual, the oh yeah, the
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: essay that they had for this year was fast because
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: I didn't realize how little the Royals walked as a team,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: And that's what the essay really focuses on this year,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: is how it's not even like just the team this year,
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: it's like a historical Royals thing where they just have
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: never really walked very much. And so it's just one
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: of the stranger builds that I've seen in any MLB
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: team this year, like if the past few years, in
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: terms of you're looking at so many holes in that lineup.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: It is a weak lineup outside of Bobby Witt junior,
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: great pitching staff, pretty solid bullpen, and they wrote that
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: all the way to a Wild Card berth last year,
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: which I think they're looking to do again this year.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: I actually heard when I was listening to Effectively Wild
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: as they did the preview pod on the Royals this week,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: it sounds like some of the players on that roster
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: think that their World Series contenders. I guess we'll see
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: maybe Hunter Renfro isn't going to be helping out there
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: too much, or maybe they should do something about m J. Melndez.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: But all those considerations, who are you buying from the
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: Kansas City Royals going into twenty twenty five I'm.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: Kind of really into and this is just like so
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: niche and corner case.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: But Chris Bubach, you got mine. This is yes. I
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: can't quit this dude. I love him so much.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: I mean, he was fantastic out of the bullp Like,
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: I think keeping him in a bullpen roll is the move. Obviously,
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: he was fantastic out of the pen last year. I
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: think that's the one thing that's going to be their
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: kind of sneaky strength because they have a few good starters.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Obviously they have between Waka and then you have Seth
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Lugo as well as Cole Reagan's, Like that's a very
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: good one two three combination in that starting rotation. I
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: think the bullpen is kind of sneaky strong, and that's
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: where most of their strengths fly. Talking about like the
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: lack of walks, they had one player on their team
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: that walked more than ten percent of the time last year.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: That's projected to be in the strong side of the
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: platoon this year, which is crazy, It is really really insane.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: But to be fair, they didn't really have anyone that's
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: projected to be a starter against right handed pitchers who
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: struck out an absurd amount at the time either, so
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: they're putting the ball in play a lot at the
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: very least, which helps them there. So yeah, no, but
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: I do like Chris Boobach. I think that I am
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: a little bit concerned of them making because he's projected
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: right now to be the sp five. I don't know
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: if I necessarily like having him back in the rotation
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: considering how good he was in relief, but he did
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: look fantastic in the small amount of innings that he
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: pitched last year, so I do like him. How many
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: innings he's he going to throw this year? Who knows.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Projections mostly have him for I think around like one
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: ten something like that. In a swing man role. I
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: think he would be amazing. But I'm still not sure
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: about the transition back to start, so we'll see what
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: happens with them.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I actually I think he is going
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: to start. And this is probably my spicy take at
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the pod, but I think this might be Cole Reagan's
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: like two point zero sort of level. Like I think
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: that the stuff here is incredible, like it started in
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: twenty twenty three, and like he that's when the breakout started.
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: He made an arsenal change and you can just see it.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: It jumps out right away in his page when you're
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: looking at it. The era went down, the fifth went down,
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: the strikeouts went up, the walks went down, the ground
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: ball rate went up, and he repeated that in the
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: twenty seven games that he appeared in last year, with
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: over those thirteen and thirty innings. I hope that he starts,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: because I think the projections are dead wrong on this guy.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I think he's really got some potential to produce. Like
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: I said, maybe not like full coreake, but like if
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: you can get into like one hundred innings of starts,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: and I think you're looking at one hundred plus k's
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: with like a mid three ZRA and even from there,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: the sky's the limit. People really lost track of Boobage
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: because of that Tommy John surgery in twenty twenty three
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and whatever he had figured out at the beginning of
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the season before he shredded his UCL that it's back,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: and so I am all on board on Chris Boubage.
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: This is going to be somebody who probably enters my
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: waiver wire column a lot until either blows out again
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: or moves his way kind of up into that rotation
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: for then further, so great pick.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Yeah, A lot of it is that slider that he
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: added because he stopped throwing his curveball pretty much completely
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: in twenty twenty four. He had kind of transitioned from
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: throwing a curveball in twenty twenty two through it less
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: and then added a slider in twenty three, and then
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: in twenty four just completely got rid of the curveball.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: And he's got so much art a glove side movement
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: on that slider well above le gaverage and still fairly
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: decent view o on it, like vering right around lea gaverage,
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: maybe a little bit lower. But I think it was
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: the addition of that pitch and also maybe some slight
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: changes in terms of the movement profile on his fastball
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: that really are making him click the way he is now.
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: So yeah, no, he's he's going to be good regardless
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I think of what role he's in. I think I
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: do prefer him as a reliever, but he's going to
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: be better than people expect him to be regardless of
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: what role that he's in.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, who is here by here on the Royals Keelan?
- 1:13:38Speaker 4: So for me, I picked the same person last year.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure. I'm pretty sure.
- 1:13:42Speaker 3: We talked about the same stay exact thing last year.
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: Year did Yeah, so I'm.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Gonna I'm hoping this will be Vinny Pascuntino's year again,
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: which I said last year i'd think too.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: And it wasn't, but I I'm still hoping it will.
- 1:14:02Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean, he had a pretty good season
- 1:14:04Speaker 4: until he broke his thumb, and then before that he
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: had torn his laborum. So we'll see about the injury.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: But I am definitely still very much in on him.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: I would just like to see the whole thing this year.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: Yeah, don't be too harsh on yourself. It is a
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: two sixty two average with nineteen bombs and ninety seven
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: ribis last year, so it was.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: A good he did go off.
- 1:14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, he did go off. So I'm hoping to
- 1:14:26Speaker 4: see more sustainably that this year.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, he was in consideration for me too. I
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: picked him in that draft and hold I was talking
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: about because first base is awful and so like Vinnie
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: is probably like one of the last dudes I would
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: count on to be my starting first baseman. But yeah,
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: if you can get him as your corner, you're well
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: ahead of the game. In your draft because after Vinnie
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: it falls off of a cliff. So great, great call.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: All right, let's get into ourselves. Jordan, who are you
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: selling from the Kansas City Royals?
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: Kind of out on Jonathan India. I don't like the
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: park fit for him.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: We are vibing, We're.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: We're on the same wavelength.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: This is great.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Yeah, No, I really don't like the park fit for
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Jonathan India. Funny enough, we're talking about walk, right, he
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: actually does walk a halfway decent amount. He is the
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: only person on that team that walks a halfway decent amount. Really,
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: that's going to be seeing that much playing time. I
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: just think that he's going to be incredibly boring from
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: fantasy perspective, like real life baseball completely different. Obviously, I
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: think he's gonna be a fine second baseman, but yeah,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: from a fantasy baseball perspective, unless you're in like an
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: OBP league, I think that he's probably gonna be pretty
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: darn boring. Despite leading off and batting in front of
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: both Vinnip and Bobby Wood Junior. Most of the time,
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: he could be good for like getting runs, but everything
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: else is just gonna be kind of shoulder shrug for me,
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: so I'm kind of out on him.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I totally agree, And this is another one where
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: I just don't get the project actions again that like
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: he hit fifteen bombs in Cincinnati last year with a
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: middling hard hit and barrel rate, way harder to hit
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: homers in Kansas City. I don't know where those fifteen
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: bombs are going to come from, but I don't know
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: if he's going to reach double digits. That Kansas City
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: is great for like base hits and stuff like that,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: but I just don't see India being able to hit
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: it out of Kaffmin Stadium with any regularity. That it's
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: really going to grind on what you counted on him for.
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: And yeah, especially because I think people have been pushing
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: him up draft boards a little bit because of just
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: the state of second base. So he's going like two
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: hundred and forty ninth ish but starting to move up
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: because of like his position in that Royals lineup. And
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: I think it's going to be really easy to regret
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: that because I mean, it's league average batting average, probably
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: a little bit of speed, but the power is just
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: never going to materialize. I don't think for India this
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: year all right, Killan, who's yourself for the Royals?
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think I also wanted to add to that,
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: I'm really for Jonathan India.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: He was in my cell short list. I was also.
- 1:17:14Speaker 4: Confused, I'm gonna go over another one though he wasn't
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: my main one. So I was really confused about that too,
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: because you had that long ongoing well first it was
- 1:17:23Speaker 4: like foot and then I think it turned out to
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: it was very weird. The way the whole foot then
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: ankle thing was was strange because I think they he
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: was mad at He was like very frustrated about the
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: care he received for it, and I think that was
- 1:17:37Speaker 4: like a big frustration. And I think he just had
- 1:17:40Speaker 4: surgery in October for his ankle, So I'm very curious
- 1:17:46Speaker 4: to see how that's even going to impact him beyond
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: what you guys were even saying, like is that going
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: to kind of rear its head? We haven't really seen
- 1:17:54Speaker 4: that yet, So that was one reason when I was
- 1:17:57Speaker 4: looking at him, I was like, wait, did we just
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: kind of like skip over some of those parts?
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: So I had forgotten about that surgery. So thanks for
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: Imbulence chasing for us that, Like, I think that's a
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: good point that that's not going to help those stolen
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: bases at all.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, and I mean it literally.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: I think it literally was just in October that he
- 1:18:18Speaker 4: had it, so and I mean that was it. That
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: was it for them anyway. So I'm not sure how
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: that's doing. You would think better, but you never know.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: So Yeah. I also.
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: I picked this person just because as another one, because
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: I've seen a lot of both sides of the argument.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: So I went with Michael Garcia as my pick here
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: because I've seen a lot of people in on him
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: and I'm kind of again, this was sort of an
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: agnostic pick, but mostly I was like, I see the
- 1:18:51Speaker 4: downside more of this, just in terms of how their
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: base situation is going to work out and where he's
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: going to end up landing there. I'm very curious to
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: see how that go. I see more people looking at
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: an upside now, but I think because of that, I'm
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: curious to see. And he does have like a few
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: a few really strong areas, but then they're kind of
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: all pulled down by like if you look at his stack, cast.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: By a lot.
- 1:19:21Speaker 4: So yeah, I feel like he might be slightly over
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: ranked there, but we'll see.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I've ended up with him in a couple of
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: places already, but partly it's more so the way thy draft.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: So I don't mind the price here, but like it is,
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: you got to have the team build for him because, like,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: especially when I've been digging into that area the draft,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: he's second and third base eligible. He's the best stolen
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: base option really right there, So like that's really how
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: he keeps I keep taking them there is because like
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: it's really tough to find it anybody else with that
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: type of eligibility that will pop thirty stolen bases and
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: has a decent hard hit rate. So like, yeah, I can,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: but I do get the cell point, like, do not
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: like invest in him without having the pieces around him
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: to support it, because you can't count on the batting average,
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: the power is going to be very middling. That you've
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: got to have the right build to be able to
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: absorb some of those deficiencies of his.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: All right, let's get into our prospects. Pick to click here.
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: So Jordan who is yours.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: Mine is going to be Gavin Cross there. He's a
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: non roster invitee for the team, as we've espoused earlier,
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: and has been espoused multiple times. The outfield for the
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Royals is pretty abysmal from a fantasy perspective.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: M J.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: Melndez really has in shape to be what he thought
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: we thought he might be there, still running the corpse
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: of Hunter renfro Out in the outfield. I'm not super
- 1:21:07Speaker 2: excited about who they have on the major league roster
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: in terms of outfield talent across someone who used to
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: be really really highly touted. I feel like he's not
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: as not as in favor as he used to be,
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: but he did still put up fifteen home runs and
- 1:21:22Speaker 2: thirty stolen bases in four hundred and thirty six played
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: appearances last year in Double A, like he was still
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: really really solid, and that kind of like power speed
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: combo profile is something that I'd be interested in if
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: he ever gets the call up and anything like that. Obviously,
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: it's something to track throughout spring training. If he's getting
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: at bats and he's performing well, he could put himself
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: in the conversation to be not necessarily on the opening
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: day roster, but someone that is in the pipeline to
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: be called up early if some of those established veterans
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: aren't performing snuff. So that's kind of where I'm at
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: with Gavin Cross. I feel like, obviously thirty stolen bases
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: is something that if you can get it super super
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: late and like a draft and hold, I'd be fine
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: taking a flyer on that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I love this. So he was in my consideration
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: because of all those factors. Yeah, easy path to playing
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: time if he hits. So yeah, it's and should have
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: a profile to push fifteen, fifteen or twenty twenty that
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: you know, maybe the batting average will be a little
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: bit of a struggle, but hey, if you can give
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: the other stuff for the price, can't complain. Keelan, who
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: are you picking here for the Royals?
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, So for.
- 1:22:29Speaker 4: This one, I went with, oh my god, I'm so sorry.
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: I don't know how to say a name.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Uh Jack Kaglia.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: Known, Yeah you're Jack. Yeah, the Jack train.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: Yes, I am very much on that train. And I'm
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: gonna be honest.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: It's completely for a basic reason and that I love
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: that he's two a player.
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: I think that's really cool.
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: Excited to see how that turns out. And then I think,
- 1:22:53Speaker 4: just in general thinking about long term, I mean, there's
- 1:22:57Speaker 4: just more opportunities for him there. So yeah, I mean
- 1:23:01Speaker 4: I think that's pretty obvious upside there.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: And the other part too that we can't forget is
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: that it would be the most Italian sounding baseball team
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: between him and past Quentino.
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: I should have said that was my reason.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: If they don't promote him, it's anti Italian discrimination.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Sponsoring.
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: No, I'm so sorry. Yeah, he's also he's non roster
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: inviting that.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: That's good.
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, And I mean I think with the I
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: don't know if they'll necessarily do much with the pitching,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: but that just gives more upside on the hitting that Like,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: if he's had to focus on having to develop his
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: pitching repertoire while he was at Florida, gets that time
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: to dedicate it to hitting, I think, yeah, you can
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: really see a nice breakout. And I think, given almost
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: like with this Gavin Cross thing too, there is a
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: path for Kagilion to move through this team very quickly. Okay,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: My buye for the prospects is it's Noah Cameron. So
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: this is a left handed pitcher in Triple A. Last
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: year he struck out ten point three k per nine
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: over his nine starts down there, And I don't know
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: if it's like something about Kauffman Stadium. But like we
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: were talking about Boo Bitch and Reagan's or if they
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: just have some sort of talent for developing South Pause.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: But I think you can take the easy over on
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: all of the projected k nines that they have for
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: Cameron set up, they're all hovering around eight, which is
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: not what he has ever done at any stop in
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: the miners that I think he's got better stuff than that.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: He's got great control, So like, I think that's gonna
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: fast track him to the majors for this year. And yeah,
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I think he's the first guy up from their system
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: if there's any any sort of blip in terms of
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: injuries or anything else going on that rotation already on
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: the forty man roster, and honestly, maybe even might push
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: our boy Krispoo Bitch out of the rotation if he
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: pitches well enough in spring training and can capture that
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: fifth fifth spot in the rotation. So I love Noah Cameron,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: and I think that you know, easy stash, and especially
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: just given the track record that the Rows have had
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: with South Paul's over the past couple of years, lots
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: of upside there.
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: Get Y are hovering around three point one over almost
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: one hundred and thirty innings pitch last year between Triple
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: A and Double A. Uh No, I like this. I
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: like this a lot.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and solid ground ball right, not like the greatest,
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: but you know he pitches in Coffin Stadium. Nobody can
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: flyballs COVID die. Okay, Well, let's move on to the
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: Minnesota Twins, who I denigrated earlier with their just lack
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: of activity as they're kind of going through an ownership
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: change and just general chroma genness. And this is a
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: team that it's still shocking the way that they collapsed
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: last year. They looked like they were in it and
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: just could not sustain that going into September finished with
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: an eighty two and eighty record. Part of his Carl's
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Korea broke down again at the end of the year.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Bryce Lewis still having trouble staying on the field. Brian
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Byron Buxton surprisingly was fairly healthy last year. Keelan, I know,
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: you know this lineup very very well, because that is
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: all the Minnesota Twins really do. And so a couple
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: of outlets that I've seen possibly putting this team as
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: the favorite for the n L Central it's kind of
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: neck and neck with them in Cleveland. So they did
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: just sign Ty France recently and Harrison Bader, but otherwise
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: it's been pretty mum that they're pretty much rolling back
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: the same team that has filled them the past couple
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: of years and just going to see how it works out,
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I guess. But with all that considered, Jordan, who are
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: you buying from the Minnesota Twins.
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: I'm in on Griffin Jack's.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: Yes. I love Gryffin Jacks a lot.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Just every underlying metric adores him. He's got a ton
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: of pitches that he can throw. I know there was
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: a lot of buzz early in the off season about
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: are they going to turn him into a starter, which
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: would be amazing you can still speculate on that. I
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: think he's probably just going to remain a bullpen arm
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: for them. But as we know, Minnesota Spins have had
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: a lot of struggles in terms of health, so perhaps
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: there is a timeline where someone that is currently slotted
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: to be a starter and that rotation gets hurt and
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: they end up having him make the transition at some point.
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: And then also again, if Juan Duran gets hurt at
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: any point, Jax is going to be the one in
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: line for saves in that bullpen. So I really really
- 1:27:55Speaker 2: like Jax. The ratios are going to be really really solid. Yeah,
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: stuff is amazing. It's been so fun to watch over
- 1:28:02Speaker 2: the past year.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been incredible, And I mean Duran was not
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: the stalwart that he had been the first couple of
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: years of his career. Of last year, that just overall
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: shakiness in terms of what you did not want to
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: see in a closer in terms of few blown saves,
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: the case backed up a little bit, the left on
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: base rate backed up on him. That like it is,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: there were times where he was kind of pulled out
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: of that closer role and they brought Jackson a lot.
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: That another kind of tweener for here here for you
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: in terms of like rotation reliever. But I like it.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: They're all like great picks in terms of I think
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: they've all got fancy value no matter where they fall
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: on their teams.
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: I very much have a type.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Yes, igure Kelan who is yearby here for the twins.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: Yeah, so I picked like a dang.
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: I never noticed how much I don't know how to
- 1:28:57Speaker 4: say people's names until I actually have to say them.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: Allowed Trevor Larnac.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, this was one of Bruce guys too.
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: Yeah, So I think just with the shifting situation there
- 1:29:09Speaker 4: with Max Kepler leaving and Alex krielof retiring, that's going
- 1:29:15Speaker 4: to open up a lot for him. So I think
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: strictly just by like the increased volume he's going to get,
- 1:29:21Speaker 4: he might get slept on, maybe not as much anymore
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: as everybody's figuring that out. And then I mean last
- 1:29:28Speaker 4: year he was fine, so hopefully now this year he'll
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: bell have a little more playing time, so get those
- 1:29:35Speaker 4: stats up a little bit. So that was my choice
- 1:29:37Speaker 4: for that. A lot of that was because of just
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: the volume that's going to increase for him.
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And it was a crazy good second half for
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Larnac as he put up a one thirty four WRC
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: plus really figured a lot of stuff out two seventy two,
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: three sixty eight four to forty three slash line there.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: And yeah, I've always been on him, and it frustrates
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: me because Brew and I are in lots of leagues
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: and one of them we have an auto New League together,
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: and I had Larnak forever, going back to like twenty twenty,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: and I would like cycle him in, off, in and
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: off my team as he was getting called off, called up.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: And then last year was the first year I've released
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: him into the pool for everyone to take him and
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: who picked him up?
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: Threw and then he was like this.
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: So great pick. Brew also had a couple he loves
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: the twins. Apparently he also had penciled in Matt Wallner,
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: who I think is a great pick here considering the
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: late power you can get out of him and a
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: little bit of a Joey gallow esque profile. But if
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: you're looking for somebody who's got a chance at forty
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: bombs late, probably Walner is your best pick. Bailey Obert.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I mean, I can't tell you how many times Brew
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: has talked about Bailey over on this podcast. He loves
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Bailey Obert to be, you know, a rotation anchor for
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: Fantasy and especially just a great number two should push
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: forward with more and more volume by though, too, I'm
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: going with Jose Miranda here because we've talked about a
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: little bit. First Base is an absolute shit show that
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: like it is, especially late, it gets brutal, and Jose
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: Miranda is still slated for a starting job. I'm not
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: scared of ty France for Miranda, and I mean, where
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Miranda is going in drafts is crazy, crazy late. I'm
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: looking at that ADP data since the beginning of the
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: year again going around pick three fifty in draft champions.
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Could pick up third base eligibility as well, but he
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: should just be a huge batting average asset. This is
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: a guy who set the record or tied the record
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: for most hits in consecutive plate appearances last year and
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: really had turned a corner in terms of the bad
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: ball profile, just showed a better ability to control the
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: zone and make contact, and I think he's gonna do
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: shoot well beyond all those projections right now that kind
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: of put them at like a two sixty five to
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: two seventy batting average with like twelve homers and five
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: hundred dish plate appearances. But I think because the plate
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: appearances are light, I think Miranda does find his way
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: to full playing time and can kind of push something
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: like seventy five runs, seventy five ribies with fifteen homers
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: and a to seventy batting average. That's going to be
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: really valuable when it's all said and done. Considering how
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: crazy awful first base oddly is.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: I dig that one?
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: All right, Let's get into some cells then. So I
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: think there's also lots of selling opportunities on this Twins team.
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: Oddly it's a it's a team of both, lots of ups,
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: lots of downs. Jordan will go to you first, who's yourself?
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: I wrote one that I feel is kind of insane
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: based on how much HYPI as as a prospect right now.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: I actually went with a prospect weirdly enough, and that's.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: Walker jenk Okay.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: I think he's going to be very good. Let me
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: let me start with that, But I also don't think
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: he is the ulfield prospect that I like the most
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: for the Twins, and I think now is a good
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: time to sell him in leagues if you think you
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: can get a good haul for him. That's kind of
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: where I'm at with him. I mean, the underlying data
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: looks great. The power has yet to show up, but
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: it's he's projected to be more to show more power
- 1:33:26Speaker 2: than he has so far. The bat to ball skills
- 1:33:29Speaker 2: are pretty decent. But yeah, I think now is probably
- 1:33:32Speaker 2: the time to sell him because I feel like this
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: is probably the highest his stock is going to be.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's fair just because I'm also looking
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: like I just told you the saga of Trevor Larnack.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: I mean, obviously Jenkins has a little bit more pedigree
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: to him than Larnack does, but I mean Larnack was
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: the first round pick as well, and the Twins do
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: seem to struggle with this type of kind of like
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: high draft pick profile outfield. Kepler was the same way
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: that I could see what you're saying in terms of
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: maybe it just takes longer to Jenkins for all formed
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: together than we might expect. Yeah, good pick. I like it, Kelan,
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: who you selling from?
- 1:34:19Speaker 4: The Twins got yelled at once for not yelled at.
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: Can't get yelled in comments of ras Bull, but I
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: got it.
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: I got certainly unnecessarily sternly worded message because I was
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: gloating about uh Roy Lewis May.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: It's sounded like that. Yeah, I think he was my
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: same pick last year for sale. I think.
- 1:34:45Speaker 4: I want him to be good because he sounds like
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: he could be an awesome and we've seen.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: Him do well. It's really great.
- 1:34:50Speaker 4: But I mean it is it's insane, like how much
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: he gets injured it is insane, And then how much
- 1:34:56Speaker 4: time he has spent out is insane, and I think
- 1:34:59Speaker 4: there is a kind of like sunk cost fallacy that
- 1:35:04Speaker 4: people keep going with picking him, Like at a certain point,
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: I hope it's not right, but I think just based
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: on the things it takes from him get injured and
- 1:35:13Speaker 4: how often it happens. Yeah, I still don't fill super
- 1:35:18Speaker 4: confident even with where he is now in ADP, so
- 1:35:23Speaker 4: still out on him.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I think it's fair. This was definitely one of my
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: possible choices because I just don't think the price is
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: ever gonna drop low enough for me to ever take him. Yeah, okay,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: my cell here it pains me because this is one
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: of my favorite players currently in Major League Baseball. It's
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: Billy Castro. I love the profile with the switch hit,
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: the utility man. It's just like the most classic, like
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: can do everything on a baseball field. But the price
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: has gotten just way too high for me. Now you know,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: he's going right around pick like two thirty ish in
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: So it's just I love the eligibilities, but the projections
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: are just real heavy on this profile as he's coming
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: off of a career high in plate appearances and games
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: last year and he's currently slated to hit leadoff. I
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: just don't know if he sticks in that leadoff spot.
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: And then once you start moving him down the lineup,
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: you have to start peeling away the runs from the profile.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: You start peeling away the plate appearances that peels away
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: the homers and the stolen bases are a little bit inflated,
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: because like he had that season with thirty three stolen
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: bases in twenty twenty three, but only fourteen last year.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: I just don't know if he kind of pushes it
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: much beyond fifteen again, given the importance of him to
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: this roster overall. So it's just I love him, but
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: like I said, the stats and everything are just a
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: little bit too bloated for me here on Willie castro.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: He is someone I love dearly as someone who is
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: like very aggressively cromulent and it has multiposition eligibility. He's
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: someone who kind of can just fit in anywhere on
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: a roster, which is always nice. But yeah, I mean,
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: I'm kind of in the same boat. I feel like
- 1:37:06Speaker 2: we've seen the ceiling. It's nice, but the price is
- 1:37:10Speaker 2: just too much right now. So I like that one
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: a not too.
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: Okay, Well, let's get into the picks to click on
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: the Minnesota Twins. Who are you gonna go with here, Jordan.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: I'm going with Emmanuel Rodriguez.
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: Yeah, okay?
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: Oh is that when you picked too, Kielan? Yeah, let's go.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: We got on the same page eventually. So the one
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: thing that I really love about Emmanuel Rodriguez is just
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: the absurd walk rates that he's put up. He's walked
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: it over twenty percent pretty much every single season that
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: he's played so far in the minors. Across four different levels.
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: He had a combined twenty four point four percent walk
- 1:37:54Speaker 2: rate last year. He does strike out a lot compared
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: to someone like Walker Jenkins twenty nine point seven across
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: four levels last year, but again to eighty average four
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: fifty nine OBP and a OPS of over one thousand,
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: two hundred. Total plate appearance is basically nine home runs,
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: nine stolen bases, good power speed, combo gets on base
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: a butt load. Uh. And with how injury prone that
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: team has been, there's a good chance that we could
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: see Emmanuel Rodriguez making his debut next year. And just
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: like the power projection and the current value of him
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: as a player just projects to be like a very
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: interesting power bat. I'm not thinking that he's going to
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: hit for two to eighty in the majors. He'll probably
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: be like a two thirty, two to forty type bat.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: But he's the type of guy who could absolutely hit
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: thirty plus homers if he gets full playing time. So
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: I'm kind of in on him.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: Is that your take? Two kilan?
- 1:38:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I'm not going to be able to
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: say anything better than you just did, so I'll add
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: a funny note to what he said. Just when I
- 1:39:01Speaker 4: was looking up stats and stuff, uh, I came across
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: an article in Baseball in America where there's a quote
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: that says Rodriguez's thys or the size of it's Smiths,
- 1:39:14Speaker 4: Baldelli said, in reference to the NFL's all time leading rusher.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: After watching Rodriguez crush a long spring training he will run
- 1:39:20Speaker 4: against All Star closer Craig Kimberl a year ago.
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: He's a tank.
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: I was just like, all right, I didn't expect to
- 1:39:27Speaker 4: read about thighs like right off the bat, but gotta
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: love it.
- 1:39:31Speaker 2: Gotta love thighs, and I believe that people at Baseball
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: America are thigh posting.
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: On Maine, there's thigh posting happening and it supports our claims.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: So yeah, I love this pick because especially I think
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: that this is part of the reason the Twins were
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: kind of mum again this offseason, is that if Buxton
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: goes down or if Wallner struggles at all, I think
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Rodriguez is up immediately hit triple A last year, They're
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: ready to catch lightning in a bottle here. Okay, it's
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: my turn to not know how to pronounce somebody's name,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: so I can do the first one. My pick here
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: is Luke, and I think it's Keishel So yeah, currently
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: a utility man for the Twins. I just love this profile,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: like it's right handed Brendan Donovan with steals for me
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: that I think this is a guy who can hit,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: you know, to eighty ish in the majors, with you know,
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: mid teens homers and something like twenty stolen bases. Just
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: his ability to play second, short, third, outfield. They're gonna
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: find a spot for him going into twenty twenty five. Here,
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: he did have a Tommy John late last year or
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: like a brace internal brace, which it sounds like he
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: is full go going into spring from what I've read,
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: So I'm hoping that doesn't hold him back, but even
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: if it is, I think that might just reduce this
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: price enough where I mean, this guy who his lowest
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: WRC plus coming up through the miners is one thirty
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: two back in complex ball in twenty twenty three, He's
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: just hit everywhere he's gone. All of the reports in
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: terms of like his makeup are fantastic. He just seems
- 1:41:15Speaker 1: like kind of a classic ballplayer. And so I think
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: this is exactly kind of what the Twins need to
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: solidify this lineup. And just given the myriad of injuries
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: that they've dealt with, then we've kind of harped on
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: many times. I think Luke kishel comes up fills in
- 1:41:32Speaker 1: some of those gaps. And also maybe a little bit
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: why I'm worried about Willie Castro going forward is because
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: Teachel's coming for his job pretty quick. All right, But
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: we did it, We got through all the AL Central.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Who we picking to win this division? This one might
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: be the most up for grabs other than maybe the
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: NL Central, So Jordan, who would be your pick here
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: to win it?
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: I'm pretty in on the Tigers. Okay, I'm very in
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: on the Tiger. I think that their clear favorites in
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: my mind, I know that projections are varied, and like
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: the Twins a lot. The Twins are so heavily dependent
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: on health, with a lot of players that we know
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: are not always the most healthy. There's gonna be a
- 1:42:15Speaker 2: revolving door in a lot of different positions there if
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: they can piece it together. I think that talent wise,
- 1:42:19Speaker 2: they're probably a slightly better team than the Tigers, But
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: I do like the Tigers in terms of both pitching
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: staff and bullpen. I think it's going to carry them
- 1:42:28Speaker 2: quite far. So I like the Tigers.
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: I like it. How about you, Keeling?
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: I also like the Tigers.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: I think I picked them last year and they were
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: pretty terrible a lot of the season, and then they
- 1:42:40Speaker 4: turned it around, so I'll go with it again.
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: I also just want it to happen.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, they're a fun team, and I mean Tiger's
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: gears goes hard. Yeah, I'm going with the Royals here.
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: So I do think that they figure out the outfield.
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I think the pitching staff is amongst the best in
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: the league, and then from there the bullpen gets figured
