- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me,
- 0:09Speaker 1: covering one Piece episodes eight fifty nine through eight sixty one.
- 0:16Speaker 1: The rebellious daughter Chiffon, Sonji's big plan for transporting the cake,
- 0:22Speaker 1: a man's way of life, Beggi and Lufy's determination as
- 0:26Speaker 1: captain's and the Cake sank Soanjy and Beje's get away battle.
- 0:34Speaker 1: In these episodes, well, Big Mom is still on her rampage,
- 0:39Speaker 1: but everything going on around her stays interesting and I
- 0:44Speaker 1: am still very invested and I am really enjoying this arc.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm so pleased at how it has sustained itself. Welcome
- 0:53Speaker 1: to spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Thank you very much to Florian for commissioning this episode.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I forgot to mention this. I think it was actually
- 1:23Speaker 1: the last group of episodes, or maybe the one before that.
- 1:25Speaker 1: But there's a new theme song in the mix. Yes
- 1:29Speaker 1: we have Superpowers. I think it's like the chorus. I
- 1:35Speaker 1: don't dislike the song.
- 1:36Speaker 2: It's a little repetitive.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I think the fact that it's got some of its
- 1:40Speaker 1: words in English. It's like a blessing and a curse
- 1:44Speaker 1: where a part of me appreciates there's a bit of
- 1:47Speaker 1: it that I can sing along to. But also it
- 1:50Speaker 1: means that the repetitive quality is less charming than it
- 1:54Speaker 1: is when it's in another language. But I do think
- 1:57Speaker 1: I prefer the song before to this one. And it's
- 2:02Speaker 1: always hard to tell. Am I just reacting to change
- 2:05Speaker 1: or is it genuinely a reaction to the quality of
- 2:08Speaker 1: the song?
- 2:08Speaker 2: Difficult to say.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We'll have to I should really like do a little
- 2:14Speaker 1: listen to a playlist of all of the theme songs
- 2:17Speaker 1: and see if the ones that I originally liked stayed
- 2:21Speaker 1: my favorites or not, because there's got to be somebody
- 2:24Speaker 1: out there, like there's got to be a bunch of playlists.
- 2:27Speaker 2: It's all of the different.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Theme songs, right, So this episode or group of episodes,
- 2:34Speaker 1: I should say, is it's very compelling to me that
- 2:40Speaker 1: the way they have chosen to do this here is
- 2:43Speaker 1: so I think that as much as a part of
- 2:48Speaker 1: me feels bad for the voice actress who is doing
- 2:51Speaker 1: Big Mom and the fact that she is just on
- 2:54Speaker 1: a rampage saying where is my wedding cake? Give me
- 2:57Speaker 1: my wedding cake? Do you have my wedding cake? Where
- 3:00Speaker 1: is the wedding cake. I can almost taste the wedding cake.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Do you have the wedding cake? I am sure that
- 3:06Speaker 1: gets very, very old. It's been how many episodes. But
- 3:11Speaker 1: what works is that a big mom isn't really the
- 3:16Speaker 1: focus at all. She is like almost like a natural disaster.
- 3:22Speaker 1: You know, she's just out here being a fucking tornado
- 3:27Speaker 1: in the background, and it's everybody around her that we
- 3:31Speaker 1: are reacting to. If she were fighting Loofy this whole time,
- 3:36Speaker 1: this would have gotten really boring because Loofy would be
- 3:39Speaker 1: stationary and just involved with her. But Loofy is dealing
- 3:43Speaker 1: with Katekori, who, by the way, I really enjoy a lot.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I don't know what it is about him.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I liked him before the reveal of the fact that
- 3:53Speaker 1: he has like this binge eating thing, but he's just
- 3:56Speaker 1: got this like as much as he does say my
- 4:02Speaker 1: fighting is superior to yours, et cetera, it doesn't really
- 4:05Speaker 1: feel so much like an ego thing. It feels just
- 4:08Speaker 1: like him stating facts. And later on in this group
- 4:13Speaker 1: of episodes, there's a point where he's like, where did
- 4:15Speaker 1: Lufy go?
- 4:17Speaker 2: He must have run away.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It doesn't matter because I think he says something like
- 4:25Speaker 1: one of Big Mom's people will get him eventually anyway,
- 4:28Speaker 1: something like that, And I was so startled because I
- 4:33Speaker 1: thought it was going to be it doesn't matter, I'll
- 4:35Speaker 1: track him down and finish him, and no, it's it
- 4:41Speaker 1: doesn't matter because like somebody will deal with his ass.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It very much felt like Category was basically washing his
- 4:50Speaker 1: hands of Loofy as a as an opponent, which to
- 4:57Speaker 1: me says that his ego is not hugely invested in
- 5:02Speaker 1: how things go down with Lufy, that he it's not personal,
- 5:08Speaker 1: you know, if Louviy is choosing to run away, he's
- 5:11Speaker 1: just like, well, you know, it's probably a smart idea, actually,
- 5:15Speaker 1: And there is something regarding that lack of like personal
- 5:22Speaker 1: investment that I can't help but respect. And I found
- 5:26Speaker 1: genuinely surprising because a guy like Category, I would think
- 5:31Speaker 1: would take himself a little bit too seriously, and he
- 5:35Speaker 1: definitely does take himself too seriously in that he doesn't
- 5:37Speaker 1: want anybody knowing about, like even seeing him eat, So
- 5:42Speaker 1: that's in there, but it's not in regard to fighting,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and I don't know, it just sort of made me
- 5:50Speaker 1: feel like this is a guy who's very secure with
- 5:52Speaker 1: the fact that he is a great fighter, and he
- 5:53Speaker 1: doesn't need to prove anything because we all know.
- 5:56Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:58Speaker 1: So anyway, I got over there because I was talking
- 6:01Speaker 1: about the fact that Lufy is fighting category.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I'm going to talk.
- 6:04Speaker 1: About Lufy like in general first, because for once, what's
- 6:10Speaker 1: going on with him is actually just as exciting as
- 6:14Speaker 1: a lot of the other stuff. It's wild how Lufy
- 6:17Speaker 1: is such a bonker's character and yet his plots tend
- 6:23Speaker 1: to be in many ways some of the most boring ones.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Not always obviously there's some wild shit that he gets into,
- 6:31Speaker 1: but like a lot of the time he's relegated to
- 6:34Speaker 1: being on the sideline somehow and kept out of the
- 6:37Speaker 1: fight by some means, and then he's led into the
- 6:41Speaker 1: fight and he pretty much just does his regular ass
- 6:44Speaker 1: fighting style every time, and it's you know, there's just
- 6:51Speaker 1: other than a few highlight moments, a lot of times
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's very very much the same as stuff we've seen already.
- 6:58Speaker 1: And this time, so first of all, he's on I
- 7:02Speaker 1: think it's just called nut Island. He had not intended
- 7:07Speaker 1: to jump out onto the island that Big Mom is on,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and you know, Pero is on Mom's shoulder, trying to
- 7:14Speaker 1: convince her to leave this island because the straw hats
- 7:17Speaker 1: aren't even here, her cake isn't here, and then he
- 7:20Speaker 1: has to eat his words when Loofy pops up. There
- 7:24Speaker 1: comes a point later where people are talking about having
- 7:27Speaker 1: spotted Loofy all over the place, and he's just like,
- 7:29Speaker 1: what the fuck is going on? And somebody says, I
- 7:32Speaker 1: think he's using the mirrors, and Paro is just like,
- 7:35Speaker 1: oh my god, calm mom, Brulai, you didn't get captured again.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And I just you guys know that I had been
- 7:43Speaker 1: feeling bad for Brulai, so when he just was basically
- 7:47Speaker 1: like bitch, seriously, I felt kind of bad for her.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Brulai's look, I'm not gonna play Relai's a little bit
- 7:58Speaker 1: of a loser.
- 7:59Speaker 2: It's fine, we know this. I still like her.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It's almost what I like about her. When she first
- 8:06Speaker 1: turned up, her whole esthetic was so classic which in
- 8:09Speaker 1: the woods, and it just earned her a lot of
- 8:15Speaker 1: points in my book immediately that were really they weren't
- 8:19Speaker 1: really even earned points. It just I immediately went, oh, yeah,
- 8:24Speaker 1: I want to see more of this bitch. Then she
- 8:26Speaker 1: turned out to have this mirror power, which is cool
- 8:28Speaker 1: as hell, and then I kept expecting she gets she
- 8:35Speaker 1: gets gripped up by Uh, who is it that has
- 8:39Speaker 1: her in their first Is it Sangy No, because they're
- 8:44Speaker 1: looking for Sanji. It's Nammy and Chopper right that are
- 8:49Speaker 1: in their first And I really kept thinking that she
- 8:53Speaker 1: was eventually going to.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Find a way out of it. They leave her.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Alone with Caesar, and I think that was my expectation,
- 9:05Speaker 1: was that Caesar is such a tricky little character and
- 9:10Speaker 1: she's a bad guy and they would somehow end up
- 9:14Speaker 1: working together to screw everybody. And that never happened. Caesar
- 9:22Speaker 1: got his heart back, he got out of like the
- 9:26Speaker 1: whole mix for right now, I actually don't know what
- 9:28Speaker 1: he's up to now. I'm curious, but BRULEI has just
- 9:34Speaker 1: gone from one pair of hands to another, and I
- 9:39Speaker 1: feel like it's so embarrassing at this point that I
- 9:45Speaker 1: using the mirror world is super useful. So I understand
- 9:49Speaker 1: wanting her on your team. When you have total control
- 9:53Speaker 1: over the comings and goings, that's a huge advantage, but
- 9:57Speaker 1: it is such a liability that your enemies can make
- 10:02Speaker 1: use of that so easily by just capturing her that
- 10:04Speaker 1: I don't know if it's even really worth it, you know.
- 10:07Speaker 1: But anyway, Lufy has her thrown over his shoulder. He
- 10:11Speaker 1: still calls her Branch for all of the episodes. And
- 10:15Speaker 1: even though at first I was like this joke is
- 10:18Speaker 1: sort of wearing on me, there did come a point
- 10:20Speaker 1: where I was like, no, okay, we've turned a corner.
- 10:23Speaker 1: It's come back around to being funny again. And at
- 10:26Speaker 1: one point he's running and I had just noticed how
- 10:29Speaker 1: she was like over his shoulder, and then he turns
- 10:31Speaker 1: a corner and she's gone, and I was like, wait,
- 10:34Speaker 1: what where'd she go? And it turns out that she
- 10:37Speaker 1: somehow like jumped off his shoulder without her without him noticing,
- 10:42Speaker 1: and she goes and hides in this spot, is laughing
- 10:46Speaker 1: at him, being like, hey, just come out, and going
- 10:49Speaker 1: you think I'm just gonna come out because you told
- 10:51Speaker 1: me to come out. I'm not an idiot. And then
- 10:54Speaker 1: he yells hey, Branch, and she just yells, my name
- 10:57Speaker 1: is Bruleet and gives away her hiding place. And then
- 11:01Speaker 1: it's just like, oh my god, I didn't And this
- 11:05Speaker 1: just made me think of the There was like a
- 11:07Speaker 1: series of funny videos that went up of like people
- 11:12Speaker 1: hiding from serial killers, like you know in a slasher
- 11:16Speaker 1: movie where they're like hiding behind a piece of furniture
- 11:19Speaker 1: and there's somebody walking around with a knife, just stalking
- 11:22Speaker 1: them in their home and they're hiding and they're not
- 11:25Speaker 1: making a sound. But then that serial killer yells out
- 11:30Speaker 1: sweet a lot, and they just yelled bah bah bah
- 11:34Speaker 1: because they can't help themselves and give away their hiding place.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So anyway, he gets relay back again. I really thought, guys,
- 11:49Speaker 1: she got away, Bula managed to get away from Lovie,
- 11:52Speaker 1: and now the enemy is gonna you know, especially considering
- 11:55Speaker 1: that last episode, I was like very distracted at the
- 11:59Speaker 1: fact the realization that Katekori was like essentially stuck in
- 12:05Speaker 1: the mirror world until she came back. So I was thinking, oh,
- 12:11Speaker 1: maybe she's gonna jump back into the mirror world to
- 12:15Speaker 1: help her brother.
- 12:16Speaker 2: But she doesn't even do that.
- 12:17Speaker 1: She just goes and hides in like a bin, you know,
- 12:21Speaker 1: on the street girl, if you're going to try and escape,
- 12:25Speaker 1: run into one of the houses, find a reflective surface,
- 12:28Speaker 1: something like, make an effort. But honestly, Bule is like
- 12:34Speaker 1: she's just not very creative in her thinking, you know.
- 12:37Speaker 1: So anyway, Loofy goes back into the mirror world because,
- 12:44Speaker 1: like reminder, all of this has been in service to
- 12:48Speaker 1: him trying to let his hockey recharge. He was in
- 12:52Speaker 1: the midst of the fight and it's pointed out to
- 12:55Speaker 1: him by Kategori that like, oh, you're shrinking down, and
- 12:58Speaker 1: Movie's like, oh, hey, thanks for the head up. Let
- 13:01Speaker 1: me just charge up and come back and keep fighting you, which,
- 13:05Speaker 1: to his credit, caud Cory seems fine with. He is
- 13:08Speaker 1: just like, yeah, all right, fine, I'll just be here,
- 13:10Speaker 1: you know, And there's like no sense of like why
- 13:14Speaker 1: would I let you do that. It's just sort of
- 13:16Speaker 1: I guess, bro, like if that makes you feel better,
- 13:19Speaker 1: I know I'm going to win either way, it really
- 13:21Speaker 1: doesn't matter. So sure. And yet Loufy is talking to
- 13:29Speaker 1: Bruley and he says something to her about how like,
- 13:34Speaker 1: even though Kadakori is using observation hockey, you know, so successfully,
- 13:42Speaker 1: my hockey ran out, So who's to say his hockey.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Can't run out.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Maybe I can like push it to the limit. And
- 13:53Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that's actually not a bad idea.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I don't know how that works. My imagination has it
- 13:58Speaker 1: that like the more you are with using hockey, the
- 14:01Speaker 1: greater your reservoir becomes, and that's what you draw on,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and so probably his reservoir is just much bigger than Lufy's.
- 14:08Speaker 1: And this is all coming from like Cradle and my
- 14:10Speaker 1: understanding of you know, because this is not really the
- 14:13Speaker 1: mechanics of this aren't explained so much in this universe.
- 14:19Speaker 1: But then it sort of turns a corner where it's like, Loufy,
- 14:27Speaker 1: this is what is making this so interesting to me,
- 14:30Speaker 1: and what is keeping this fight from just feeling repetitive
- 14:34Speaker 1: and boring is the combination of attitudes between Lufy and
- 14:40Speaker 1: Kategory where Category is not seeing Lufy as a genuine
- 14:45Speaker 1: threat and not in a cocky way, but just like
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think we've proven plenty of times that I will win,
- 14:55Speaker 1: we don't need to keep doing this, you know. And
- 14:58Speaker 1: because of the fact that he he isn't threatened by
- 15:02Speaker 1: Lufy in any real way, combine that with the fact
- 15:06Speaker 1: that Lufi is sort of respecting what Kateakori can do,
- 15:12Speaker 1: there's almost a feeling of like you could be a
- 15:16Speaker 1: bit of a teacher to me for a second, even
- 15:19Speaker 1: though we're enemies, you know, and that Category might agree
- 15:23Speaker 1: in a way to do that, so Loufy, you know,
- 15:28Speaker 1: he has this opportunity to maybe hide out charges hockey
- 15:33Speaker 1: and come back, and instead he comes back sooner and
- 15:38Speaker 1: decides to re engage with Kadakori earlier on than he
- 15:44Speaker 1: would need to, and is determined to like face him
- 15:49Speaker 1: at full strength. And I don't know, I just think
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's an interesting It's not what I was expecting, and
- 15:58Speaker 1: it feels like what we're is we are about to
- 16:01Speaker 1: have Lufy level up in a way that is actually
- 16:08Speaker 1: on screen for us to see the moment it happens.
- 16:12Speaker 1: This is the thing that has kind of been a
- 16:16Speaker 1: strange element for me and an odd surprise in the
- 16:19Speaker 1: way the storytelling has been done. Every time we have
- 16:25Speaker 1: seen that Lufy has like a new move in his
- 16:28Speaker 1: arsenal or something, it's always a shock to us. And
- 16:32Speaker 1: it's not like it's been something we saw him really
- 16:37Speaker 1: floating an idea for or testing out. It just appears
- 16:42Speaker 1: fully formed in the midst of a fight, you know,
- 16:45Speaker 1: to varying degrees of success maybe, but that doesn't change
- 16:51Speaker 1: the fact that it's an attack that already like has
- 16:54Speaker 1: a name and that he can fully execute, which I
- 16:58Speaker 1: do think is weird. You know, I I am so
- 17:02Speaker 1: used to narratives being focused around how long it takes
- 17:08Speaker 1: for somebody to actually perfect their craft, and the creativity
- 17:15Speaker 1: necessary to come up with something new within that, the
- 17:20Speaker 1: like boundaries of whatever it is they're capable of, like
- 17:23Speaker 1: figuring out something new and exciting to do with the
- 17:26Speaker 1: rubber ability, you know, deciding that I'm like I'm gonna
- 17:31Speaker 1: bite my thumb and blow in there like it's a
- 17:33Speaker 1: balloon and blow myself up, or I'm going to use
- 17:36Speaker 1: like the pressure of like what appears to be hot
- 17:40Speaker 1: water at times. You know, this is a sort of
- 17:44Speaker 1: thing that I think is really creative and interesting, and
- 17:48Speaker 1: I just think it's sort of I don't know if
- 17:51Speaker 1: I want to say if it's a missed opportunity that
- 17:53Speaker 1: we don't see how this actually happens, or if it's
- 17:57Speaker 1: laziness in the writing where he doesn't really want to
- 18:00Speaker 1: explain the whole thing in how this came about. It's
- 18:05Speaker 1: obvious that in one piece the point is much more
- 18:09Speaker 1: the fighting, and it's not really supposed to be We're
- 18:13Speaker 1: going to spend a bunch of time with our friends
- 18:16Speaker 1: just in downtime training. It's going to be that we
- 18:20Speaker 1: are engaged in a fight most of the time, and
- 18:24Speaker 1: I can understand that, but I think that it still
- 18:27Speaker 1: would work. So anyway, all this to say, I am
- 18:33Speaker 1: hopeful that whatever is going on right now with Kategori
- 18:38Speaker 1: is going to lead to Lufy unlocking a new ability,
- 18:44Speaker 1: or at least being able to exploit an ability that
- 18:47Speaker 1: he already has in another way, Because like Katekori's thing
- 18:52Speaker 1: has been oh, he can see a few seconds into
- 18:54Speaker 1: the future, And I didn't really stop and consider the
- 18:57Speaker 1: fact that that really doesn't seem to have anything to
- 19:00Speaker 1: do with like Mochi powers, Like how are those things
- 19:03Speaker 1: relevant to each other? So the seeing a few seconds
- 19:06Speaker 1: into the future has to be purely Hockey and if
- 19:10Speaker 1: it is, Loofy could do that too, he could will he?
- 19:16Speaker 2: I don't know, it.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Just doesn't I'll say that it doesn't seem quite to
- 19:22Speaker 1: align with who he is as a character, you know,
- 19:25Speaker 1: But perhaps we're going to see some growth from him
- 19:28Speaker 1: in that direction and he'll become somebody who is more observant.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So I don't know, guys, the fact that we don't
- 19:41Speaker 1: see his a lot of his abilities.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Come into being.
- 19:47Speaker 1: Am I the only one that's like a little bewildered
- 19:49Speaker 1: by that. It just feels to me like that should
- 19:51Speaker 1: be such a huge part of the story that glossing
- 19:56Speaker 1: over it is really odd to me.
- 19:59Speaker 2: You know.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know anyway, So all right now I'm
- 20:06Speaker 1: going to go over to what's going on at Cacao Island. Really, honestly,
- 20:15Speaker 1: what's going on there almost all has to do exclusively
- 20:18Speaker 1: with Chiffon, Soanji and Putting have minimal involvement. Sonji has
- 20:23Speaker 1: a couple points where he jumps in and kicks somebody,
- 20:27Speaker 1: and Putting does some like arguing on behalf of the
- 20:31Speaker 1: crew that was in charge of making the cake and everything,
- 20:34Speaker 1: but mostly we are dealing with Chiffon and Oven and
- 20:38Speaker 1: Chiffon's dad, Pound and Beget and his crew. So I'm
- 20:45Speaker 1: going to talk about that because this is a very
- 20:48Speaker 1: fun little, like unexpectedly emotional storyline. I said last time,
- 20:59Speaker 1: how I have started to really like Pound, and that
- 21:03Speaker 1: just grew this episode. It's so funny, how like bizarre
- 21:08Speaker 1: and pointless I found him when we first meet him,
- 21:10Speaker 1: you know, and I stand by it because he's literally
- 21:13Speaker 1: just like hanging out in the woods, hidden in the ground,
- 21:16Speaker 1: like it's weird, but in this section, Pound is like,
- 21:24Speaker 1: I found everything that happened with him so touching because
- 21:28Speaker 1: he is here for his little girl repeatedly despite her.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Not knowing who he is.
- 21:36Speaker 1: And so it's not like he's here for her because
- 21:39Speaker 1: he gets the satisfaction of her thanking him, being grateful
- 21:44Speaker 1: to him, any of that. He is doing it purely
- 21:48Speaker 1: out of the desire for her to be okay, to
- 21:53Speaker 1: be safe and happy, and it's genuinely heartwarming.
- 22:01Speaker 2: You know.
- 22:01Speaker 1: There comes a point where I almost thought, are we
- 22:04Speaker 1: just never going to see him again, because like, she's
- 22:06Speaker 1: sailing away, not sailing they're on land at that point,
- 22:11Speaker 1: because it's an amphibious boat, which is amazing, but uh,
- 22:16Speaker 1: he's waving to them and they're already in the distance,
- 22:20Speaker 1: and he's saying something to himself, like.
- 22:25Speaker 2: She has a beautiful.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Family or something. And he does wind up reappearing again
- 22:31Speaker 1: a little bit later, but for a second, I was like,
- 22:33Speaker 1: is that the last we're going to see of him?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Is him just being happy to see that she has
- 22:38Speaker 1: somewhere that she belongs, even if he isn't part of it.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And I was just like choked up. I'm not kidding.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I was just like, oh my god, this is so
- 22:47Speaker 1: sweet because it's just such a selfless thing, you know.
- 22:51Speaker 1: And we have the flashback of Pound being there when
- 22:56Speaker 1: they had just been born and wanting to see her
- 23:00Speaker 1: and Lola because they're twins born at the same time,
- 23:03Speaker 1: and I will ask what exactly is going on with
- 23:08Speaker 1: the illustration of Big Mom in that flashback. It's so
- 23:15Speaker 1: weird because it does not look like her at all,
- 23:19Speaker 1: her as a child in the flashbacks, she looks more
- 23:23Speaker 1: similar to how she looks now than she does in
- 23:26Speaker 1: that one when she's supposedly like a grown woman. And
- 23:32Speaker 1: there was a point later where we see Big Mom like,
- 23:35Speaker 1: you know, she's on the ocean again, and I felt
- 23:38Speaker 1: like the way that she was animated even there, looked
- 23:41Speaker 1: like it had been changed a little bit. And I
- 23:45Speaker 1: don't know how much of a span of time this
- 23:48Speaker 1: story takes place, not within the story itself, but like
- 23:53Speaker 1: how long did writing this arc take And did his
- 23:59Speaker 1: animation of her change over the course of like a
- 24:03Speaker 1: year or two as he is drawing the manga, Like
- 24:06Speaker 1: did he start to change it up a little bit?
- 24:08Speaker 1: Because I know, like all of the characters look different
- 24:11Speaker 1: now than they did when the story started, but it's
- 24:14Speaker 1: not usual for this to happen within one arc that
- 24:17Speaker 1: I've noticed. So I'm just curious if anybody else noticed
- 24:21Speaker 1: that there's nobody in the chat today so for whatever reason,
- 24:25Speaker 1: so I'm alone. So anybody listening, if you want to
- 24:27Speaker 1: chime in, go ahead on the discord one piece, no
- 24:31Speaker 1: spoilers discord. So and this actually, I do want to
- 24:39Speaker 1: mention this, guys, And this is not my intention to
- 24:41Speaker 1: like bring down the vibes of the show or anything,
- 24:46Speaker 1: but I do want to put it out there that
- 24:48Speaker 1: I have recently become aware of the fact that Oda
- 24:51Speaker 1: is apparently like Bessie's with another illustrator of a manga
- 24:58Speaker 1: who was like arrested and convicted of owning a lot
- 25:03Speaker 1: of child porn. And evidently Oda is like still super
- 25:07Speaker 1: supportive of this guy, as is a lot of japan apparently.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And what a bummer the fact that Oda is like friends.
- 25:17Speaker 2: With this dude.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Like, I really, I'm not trying to cast dispersions on
- 25:25Speaker 1: Oda himself as like in terms of saying, like is
- 25:29Speaker 1: he a pedophile? I'm not trying to be that strong
- 25:31Speaker 1: about it. But if that isn't a deal breaker in
- 25:36Speaker 1: your personal relationship with something I don't know what, like,
- 25:42Speaker 1: what are your standards then?
- 25:43Speaker 2: What is that?
- 25:45Speaker 1: So I have to say my opinion of him really
- 25:48Speaker 1: went down a trifle when I found out this, and
- 25:53Speaker 1: it makes me more concerned than I even was about
- 25:59Speaker 1: the depiction of when in this show. It's just got
- 26:02Speaker 1: my my antennas up a little bit more and I
- 26:06Speaker 1: don't like feeling like that, But you know, here we are.
- 26:09Speaker 1: If we're not going to be holding men accountable, then
- 26:13Speaker 1: we have to start navigating a world where they are
- 26:16Speaker 1: just mixed in with you know, other perfectly decent men
- 26:21Speaker 1: and figure out how exactly are we going to interact
- 26:23Speaker 1: with stuff. And I know that there are plenty of
- 26:26Speaker 1: folks out there who try and argue about separating the
- 26:29Speaker 1: art from the artist, and I just think that is
- 26:31Speaker 1: a bunch of horseshit. It's not possible if the artist
- 26:34Speaker 1: is still alive. It's just you trying to tell yourself
- 26:38Speaker 1: that you continuing to consume something doesn't do any harm.
- 26:42Speaker 1: It does, and you're lying to yourself because you don't
- 26:45Speaker 1: want to give up the thing that you like, and
- 26:47Speaker 1: that's very selfish and shitty. Figure it out. So anyway,
- 26:52Speaker 1: not talking about one piece with this, I'm talking about
- 26:54Speaker 1: the guy who does that manga that he does.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I don't even know what it.
- 26:58Speaker 1: I feel like he was associated with I can't remember,
- 27:02Speaker 1: but anyway, I did want to mention this because it
- 27:05Speaker 1: was something that I just recently stumbled across. I don't
- 27:07Speaker 1: even remember how it came up. But then I'm like,
- 27:11Speaker 1: brought it up with Candace and she was talking about
- 27:14Speaker 1: it as well, and yeah, just a really disappointing revelation.
- 27:19Speaker 1: It just seems like you can't swing a.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Cat these days, you know.
- 27:25Speaker 1: So all right, this this whole thing with Oven. He's
- 27:31Speaker 1: determined to hold Chiffon accountable for her participation in the
- 27:38Speaker 1: attempted assassination of Big Mom. And basically, at first, it
- 27:44Speaker 1: seems like he is going to throw himself between Pudding
- 27:50Speaker 1: and the ocean, because Pudding is going to bring you know,
- 27:53Speaker 1: the cake onto the ship and try and lure Mom
- 27:55Speaker 1: out to sea so that she can overcome her hunger
- 27:58Speaker 1: pangs well away from any of the islands and not
- 28:01Speaker 1: hurt anybody further. And so even at first acts like
- 28:05Speaker 1: he's going to be very oppositional to this, and then
- 28:07Speaker 1: changes his mind and is like, that's a great idea,
- 28:09Speaker 1: do that, and then Chiffon is like, thanks, Evin, don't worry,
- 28:14Speaker 1: we won't let you down, and he's like, oh, I
- 28:16Speaker 1: didn't mean you, and he just fucking decks her in
- 28:21Speaker 1: the face and says, you turned on your own mother
- 28:26Speaker 1: and tried to have her killed like you were. You're
- 28:30Speaker 1: married to the guy who.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Was behind this whole thing.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You don't get to just walk away, Like that's not
- 28:36Speaker 1: how any of this works. And it's kind of funny
- 28:42Speaker 1: because in a way I can see what he means,
- 28:48Speaker 1: but also as Pudding keeps pointing out, if you do this,
- 28:52Speaker 1: we won't be able to finish the cake, and then
- 28:55Speaker 1: Big Mom is going to continue to destroy things, So
- 29:00Speaker 1: what exactly is your priority here? And he never actually
- 29:04Speaker 1: answers that. He just basically keeps repeating about how he's
- 29:09Speaker 1: going to uphold the law and Chaffon's a trader and
- 29:13Speaker 1: she needs to be punished and that's all there is
- 29:15Speaker 1: to it, and engaging any further with like the consequences
- 29:20Speaker 1: outside of Big Mom continuing to destroy whole islands because
- 29:27Speaker 1: she wants her wedding cake. He is just not even
- 29:30Speaker 1: willing to engage at all. And I can't help, but
- 29:33Speaker 1: think that like if Big Mom, let's say Big Mom
- 29:37Speaker 1: does eventually get the cake and come back to her
- 29:41Speaker 1: right mind, if she were to find out that Oven
- 29:48Speaker 1: delayed her getting her cake because he was so busy
- 29:52Speaker 1: punishing Cheffon, I think she'd be pretty pissed. I think
- 29:58Speaker 1: that Big Mom herself would really take issue with his
- 30:04Speaker 1: choice here, but that is neither here nor there. So
- 30:11Speaker 1: he is determined to punish Chiffon. And then all of
- 30:16Speaker 1: a sudden we see that Bege is heading back in
- 30:19Speaker 1: and the whole thing had been that he was going
- 30:21Speaker 1: to try and pick Chiffon.
- 30:23Speaker 2: Up, and.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Oven is really pleased to be able to like taunt
- 30:31Speaker 1: Beggie with the fact that he has got Chiffon in custody,
- 30:36Speaker 1: and we have like the whole thing with Beggie, which
- 30:40Speaker 1: is really fun. Is his family nature, which like one
- 30:49Speaker 1: could say the family, you know, like that kind of thing,
- 30:53Speaker 1: but it's obviously has multiple meanings for him, and he
- 30:59Speaker 1: is like taking care of his son and just being
- 31:05Speaker 1: really cute with him. And in Chiffon's flashbacks, we have
- 31:10Speaker 1: the moments of her like with Veto and like other
- 31:14Speaker 1: members of his crew, and how everybody was so kind
- 31:18Speaker 1: to her, when she had the baby, and like the
- 31:21Speaker 1: little parties that they threw and everything, and you just
- 31:24Speaker 1: get to see this, like Cheffon says something like mom
- 31:28Speaker 1: has always hated me, but you guys taught me the
- 31:32Speaker 1: meaning of love and it's really sweet. And also like,
- 31:36Speaker 1: when you think about it, how terrible it would be
- 31:39Speaker 1: to know that your own mother has hated you your
- 31:42Speaker 1: whole life. Like that is rough, dude, that sucks. And
- 31:48Speaker 1: as Beget is realizing that Chiffon has been grabbed, he
- 31:54Speaker 1: says something to himself like, oh, sweetie, why did you
- 31:58Speaker 1: have to get involved in this? But you're as tough
- 32:01Speaker 1: as nails and I wouldn't have it any other way.
- 32:04Speaker 1: And I am so sorry, but I can't help. But
- 32:07Speaker 1: Stan a husband who is just there for his woman,
- 32:12Speaker 1: even when it's maybe her fault that she's in a mess,
- 32:16Speaker 1: and he's just like, yeah, but the fact that she's
- 32:18Speaker 1: in that mess, that's what I like, you know, I
- 32:21Speaker 1: really get that as a sentiment as well. So this
- 32:27Speaker 1: whole thing is so uh. It's funny because Beggi is talking.
- 32:33Speaker 1: They're using the like loudspeaker system and Beji is talking
- 32:39Speaker 1: to oven and like swearing, all right, I'm coming back,
- 32:43Speaker 1: no funny business. Meanwhile, Chiffon is yelling at him, like,
- 32:48Speaker 1: you guys have got to get out of here. If
- 32:50Speaker 1: I have to die, then so be it. But I
- 32:52Speaker 1: want you all to live. And you know, Begie would
- 32:57Speaker 1: never He's just not that is not how he rolls,
- 33:00Speaker 1: as he puts it to his sons, like this is
- 33:02Speaker 1: how I roll for me. It's a way of life.
- 33:05Speaker 1: So he comes back and he's like coming toward the
- 33:08Speaker 1: shore and it's really looking like he's just about to
- 33:11Speaker 1: pull into dock and give himself up.
- 33:14Speaker 2: And then and there's a bunch of like.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Ovens men on the beach and Bejie just says something like,
- 33:23Speaker 1: it seems like you guys aren't familiar with my ship.
- 33:28Speaker 1: It's amphibious. And all of a sudden, these wheels descend
- 33:33Speaker 1: out of the hull of his ship and it just
- 33:36Speaker 1: rolls up onto the beach and onto the ground, and
- 33:41Speaker 1: it is genuinely a really funny moment where I was
- 33:45Speaker 1: just like.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Oh shit. And earlier he had fired a.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Fucking cannonball right at Oven and this time, as he's
- 33:53Speaker 1: like coming up onto the beach, Oven says something like, oh,
- 33:57Speaker 1: it's cool. I'll be able to stop him. And he
- 34:01Speaker 1: stands directly in front of the ship as it's rolling
- 34:05Speaker 1: up toward them, and it's really great, y'all. It's a
- 34:11Speaker 1: really well done moment where even is standing there. It's
- 34:15Speaker 1: super dramatic, and I really thought, genuinely, I really thought
- 34:19Speaker 1: that he was going to do something, that something here,
- 34:23Speaker 1: there was going to be some damage inflicted on the
- 34:26Speaker 1: ship somehow, but no, he gets rolled over like it's
- 34:32Speaker 1: fucking nothing. And the way that the music like changes
- 34:38Speaker 1: and it's just so womb womb is hilarious. It's just
- 34:44Speaker 1: a good moment.
- 34:46Speaker 2: I really I am always a fan of.
- 34:54Speaker 1: The conceit of like, let's set this up to make
- 34:56Speaker 1: it really look like something's going to happen here and
- 34:58Speaker 1: then completely let you down in this sort of a way.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Obviously not where it's like kind of accidental, but uh,
- 35:09Speaker 1: they managed to like get the the cake itself onto
- 35:14Speaker 1: Bejet's ship as well. This is a whole thing, so
- 35:19Speaker 1: he is the one that's going to be carrying it out,
- 35:21Speaker 1: which I am sort of wondering if that's not going
- 35:25Speaker 1: to result in like there being forgiven for what they did,
- 35:31Speaker 1: Like I don't think that would make sense, but I
- 35:35Speaker 1: don't know.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Maybe.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Oh and also there's this whole thing with Vito because
- 35:42Speaker 1: like you know, he's such a fanboy of German Double six.
- 35:46Speaker 1: So when they bring the cake on board, he says
- 35:50Speaker 1: something about how like this is the power of German
- 35:53Speaker 1: and Sanji has to be like, no, it's not. And
- 35:56Speaker 1: I just loved that because Vito being this weird boy
- 36:00Speaker 1: in the background is truly a fun little like ongoing
- 36:05Speaker 1: joke that's always odd and awkward. Let's see, I'm trying
- 36:12Speaker 1: to make sure that I'm not forgetting anything with this
- 36:14Speaker 1: particular part of the story. Oh right, So then there
- 36:19Speaker 1: is the part where the water starts to boil and
- 36:24Speaker 1: all of these fish begin to die and float to
- 36:26Speaker 1: the surface, and this is oven heating up the water,
- 36:30Speaker 1: and like, once again, in the pursuit of this like
- 36:34Speaker 1: punishment that he wants to inflict, he is doing so
- 36:38Speaker 1: much damage that a part of me considering the way
- 36:41Speaker 1: that all of Big Mom's kids have been very protective
- 36:45Speaker 1: of the people on their islands and have been like,
- 36:47Speaker 1: you know, we need to evacuate folks, and this is
- 36:50Speaker 1: my city and I don't want it destroyed, and I
- 36:53Speaker 1: don't want the people harmed. Doing something like this is
- 36:57Speaker 1: such a huge amount destruction that I'm sort of like,
- 37:02Speaker 1: I feel like Big Mom would not like this knowing
- 37:04Speaker 1: that he's doing this, you know. But yeah, there's also
- 37:11Speaker 1: the potential, of course, with everything getting hotter, that this
- 37:16Speaker 1: could ruin the fucking cake. Oven really blows in terms
- 37:22Speaker 1: of keeping the big picture in mind and being a
- 37:25Speaker 1: team player and any of that. That this is not
- 37:28Speaker 1: anything that he gives a shit about. And it's really funny, guys,
- 37:36Speaker 1: because there has this There is this moment where Pound
- 37:42Speaker 1: is about to like get into a fight. It's just
- 37:48Speaker 1: as Oven had been about to punch Chiffon in the
- 37:52Speaker 1: face again, and he is poised to do so, and
- 37:59Speaker 1: off to the side, Sanji is watching this wanting to
- 38:02Speaker 1: step in, but he doesn't have an opening. And all
- 38:06Speaker 1: of a sudden, Pound has Oven's full attention, and Sanji
- 38:10Speaker 1: jumps in and kicks Oven really hard as Pound's fist
- 38:16Speaker 1: is coming down and so Oven goes flying and for
- 38:21Speaker 1: a second, Pound is like, oh my god, I didn't
- 38:23Speaker 1: know I was that strong, And I really thought that
- 38:26Speaker 1: what we were going to have for a moment was
- 38:27Speaker 1: that everybody was going to be really intimidated by this
- 38:30Speaker 1: display of power, and that Pound was going to be
- 38:35Speaker 1: like attributed with this and feared and that Oven would
- 38:41Speaker 1: maybe kind of back off because he thought Pound was
- 38:45Speaker 1: tougher than he seemed to be. I was a little
- 38:49Speaker 1: disappointed at the fact that apparently Oven immediately knows.
- 38:53Speaker 2: That wasn't Pound.
- 38:54Speaker 1: He's like almost instantly going, that is not that wasn't you.
- 38:58Speaker 1: That's not what happened. I was a little bit like, oh,
- 39:01Speaker 1: because I thought maybe he'd get to like borrow Sanjy's
- 39:06Speaker 1: reputation for a second, you know. But yeah, And I
- 39:12Speaker 1: kind of glossed over Pound like flashback because I was
- 39:17Speaker 1: focused so much on how.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Mom is animated.
- 39:21Speaker 1: But it is really sad to see how much he
- 39:24Speaker 1: actually wanted to be part of their lives and she
- 39:26Speaker 1: just absolutely had.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Now use for him.
- 39:29Speaker 1: I was like, there's a part of me that I
- 39:33Speaker 1: will say, I'm like, I don't know what you expected, Pound,
- 39:36Speaker 1: because it seemed big Mom functioned in this way with everybody,
- 39:41Speaker 1: So I don't know if he was misled on what
- 39:43Speaker 1: her intentions were, or if he was like unaware of
- 39:50Speaker 1: the other people that she had gotten pregnant by as well.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Over the years, it just seemed like he was truly
- 39:58Speaker 1: shocked at the fact that she didn't want him in
- 40:00Speaker 1: her kids' lives. And it doesn't seem like she wanted
- 40:04Speaker 1: any of the men that she slept with in her
- 40:06Speaker 1: kid's lives. So his thinking he's going to be an
- 40:11Speaker 1: like an exception. I kept waiting for there to be
- 40:16Speaker 1: an explanation as to why he expected things to be different.
- 40:20Speaker 2: With him, and we really don't get it.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Basically, what it comes down to is simply he just
- 40:27Speaker 1: really wanted to be with his daughters, because that's the
- 40:31Speaker 1: kind of like caring person he is. But the problem
- 40:35Speaker 1: that I have here is that if he is such
- 40:37Speaker 1: a caring person, exactly why would he even sleep with
- 40:42Speaker 1: Big Mom? Like? What was he unwilling? Was he like conscripted?
- 40:50Speaker 1: You know, he feels like the type of guy who's
- 40:53Speaker 1: not going to sleep with somebody unless he is at
- 40:56Speaker 1: least a little bit into them, And so what about
- 41:01Speaker 1: her would cause him to be into her? How did
- 41:05Speaker 1: all of this even start? But it's not the part
- 41:08Speaker 1: of the story the ODA has any interest in telling.
- 41:14Speaker 1: And you know, he's thinking about how like, I didn't
- 41:19Speaker 1: get to see them, but at least they were raised
- 41:22Speaker 1: with everything they needed, and I hope that they had
- 41:25Speaker 1: good lives, which is so sad knowing that Chiffon was
- 41:30Speaker 1: subjected to just awful treatment. You know that she was
- 41:34Speaker 1: basically abused by this woman, and I feel so bad.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Like if Pound ever catches up with Chiffon and they
- 41:41Speaker 1: are able to actually talk, if he finds out what
- 41:46Speaker 1: all happened to her, it will devastate him. I have
- 41:49Speaker 1: a feeling that Cheffon might not tell him, that she
- 41:52Speaker 1: would kind of see the type of person he is
- 41:55Speaker 1: and that he's very sensitive, and that he would be
- 41:59Speaker 1: just so heartbroken, probably blame himself for like not getting
- 42:03Speaker 1: her away from Mom, that she would just not tell
- 42:08Speaker 1: him about it at all. So okay, I'm gonna jump
- 42:13Speaker 1: over to the Sonny because this is genuinely a wild moment.
- 42:19Speaker 1: Last section, I think I mentioned the fucking cannonballs that
- 42:24Speaker 1: are what are they when they're possessed by some of
- 42:28Speaker 1: her spirit homies, And I mentioned them because I thought
- 42:32Speaker 1: they were funny, but I didn't actually expect this to
- 42:35Speaker 1: be anything. But I think the end of the second episode,
- 42:41Speaker 1: we have a bunch of cannonballs fired at the Sonny
- 42:45Speaker 1: and we spend a little bit more time with them
- 42:48Speaker 1: than we had previously. We're there in mid air talking
- 42:52Speaker 1: to each other about how excited they are to like
- 42:55Speaker 1: kill somebody, and then one of them is like, oh, hey,
- 43:01Speaker 1: who's our enemy again? And another says the straw hats
- 43:06Speaker 1: and he's like, oh, right, right, And then he looks
- 43:09Speaker 1: down at the ship and he says, but I don't
- 43:11Speaker 1: see any straw hats down there, do you? And they're like, oh, yeah,
- 43:16Speaker 1: you're right, and they say they speak to Nami, hey
- 43:20Speaker 1: did you see the straw hats around here? And she's like, yeah,
- 43:23Speaker 1: they went that way, but you've got a hurry, and
- 43:26Speaker 1: so all of the cannonballs go all right, you heard her,
- 43:30Speaker 1: Thanks lady, and they turn right and then one of
- 43:32Speaker 1: them just goes I think I'm want to fall, and
- 43:34Speaker 1: they all just fall directly into the water and do
- 43:37Speaker 1: no harm whatsoever. It is such a bizarre moment, you guys.
- 43:44Speaker 1: It's also weird to be like, I don't see any
- 43:47Speaker 1: straw hats. I think he's literally saying I don't see
- 43:51Speaker 1: a straw hat on the ship, because like, these people
- 43:56Speaker 1: all count as straw hats because they are members of
- 43:59Speaker 1: that crew.
- 44:00Speaker 2: But maybe the cannonballs. Don't get that.
- 44:03Speaker 1: There's also, if I'm not mistaken, a straw hat on
- 44:06Speaker 1: the Jolly Roger that's on the sonny right, So wouldn't
- 44:12Speaker 1: that also be like it doesn't matter, it does not matter,
- 44:17Speaker 1: but they are able to just like redirect these cannonballs
- 44:20Speaker 1: in a way that was very unexpected and just very
- 44:24Speaker 1: very funny. And the explanation that we get I think
- 44:30Speaker 1: right after this is essentially everything that is possessed with
- 44:37Speaker 1: her spirit isn't acting right because Big Mom has these
- 44:44Speaker 1: hunger pangs. It means that she's sort of out of
- 44:46Speaker 1: her mind in a way that affects the pieces of
- 44:49Speaker 1: her soul that occupy these inanimate objects. So like during
- 44:56Speaker 1: ordinary times they would be much smarter than this, but
- 44:59Speaker 1: because because they because of the state she's in right now,
- 45:04Speaker 1: it's sort of like infecting them with this confusion, which
- 45:09Speaker 1: I actually I sort of like as an explanation, I
- 45:11Speaker 1: think that makes sense, and it's a good way to
- 45:15Speaker 1: like it's first of all, a good way to insert
- 45:17Speaker 1: a little comedy with moments like this. It's a good
- 45:20Speaker 1: way to make sure that Big Moms, I mean, look
- 45:23Speaker 1: to be real.
- 45:24Speaker 2: She is kind of.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Ope, but like it keeps it to a level that
- 45:28Speaker 1: feels a little bit less.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Insane, you know.
- 45:32Speaker 1: And also it's just a good reminder that everything that's
- 45:37Speaker 1: animated is only animated do to her, because I forget
- 45:41Speaker 1: that and think that this is just like these are
- 45:43Speaker 1: just islands where stuff's alive, you know. I just always
- 45:46Speaker 1: lose touch with the fact that she's the one doing this.
- 45:52Speaker 1: So I'm making sure that I think it covered everything
- 45:57Speaker 1: from like the second episode, so.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Let's see. Oh ray uh.
- 46:07Speaker 1: The crew of the Sunny are deciding what to do
- 46:13Speaker 1: because like Jimbei at one point says something like, you know,
- 46:17Speaker 1: I'm really ready to fight. We've just been like running away,
- 46:20Speaker 1: and I get it, but also it's boring. Let's fucking
- 46:24Speaker 1: do something. And they're all sort of prepping mentally to
- 46:33Speaker 1: like get into a fight. But something weird is going
- 46:40Speaker 1: on with Carrot and she looks up and she says
- 46:43Speaker 1: something about how.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Like it's a full moon.
- 46:46Speaker 1: And I'm gonna be honest with you guys, because I
- 46:49Speaker 1: don't like to hide when I have been spoiled by
- 46:53Speaker 1: something I of course can't help, but see, sometimes the
- 47:00Speaker 1: thumbnails of episodes and the thumbnail of the next episode
- 47:05Speaker 1: is a pretty wild looking Carrot who's like all white,
- 47:11Speaker 1: and I think she has like purple eyes or something
- 47:14Speaker 1: like that. So it's either like there's somebody who looks
- 47:21Speaker 1: like Carrot who turns up, or Carrot turns into this
- 47:26Speaker 1: and it's like a werewolf sort of effect.
- 47:30Speaker 2: I don't know, but.
- 47:34Speaker 1: Obviously there's going to be something that happens to her,
- 47:38Speaker 1: and the moon is part of what, because she's very
- 47:42Speaker 1: distracted and acting really weird, Like it's not just her
- 47:46Speaker 1: looking up at the moon and being like, oh no,
- 47:50Speaker 1: the transformation's coming on and there being like just anxiety
- 47:53Speaker 1: around that. It feels almost like the moon is mesmerizing her,
- 47:57Speaker 1: like she's not fully anymore somehow. And this is interesting, Like,
- 48:07Speaker 1: you know, I had been saying that Karat like I
- 48:10Speaker 1: had grown to like her. She was sort of whatever
- 48:12Speaker 1: at first, and now I'm starting to feel like, Okay,
- 48:14Speaker 1: you know what, she's fun. But if we're adding like
- 48:16Speaker 1: a whole new dimension with there being something specific that
- 48:19Speaker 1: she can do, that's really interesting and I'm looking forward
- 48:23Speaker 1: to seeing that. Also, just looking forward to there being
- 48:29Speaker 1: a new element in the mix with this fight in general,
- 48:33Speaker 1: because it's just we're in this weird place where everybody
- 48:36Speaker 1: is sort of gathering on the water, and I am
- 48:40Speaker 1: assuming that if we're like, what's weird is that we
- 48:46Speaker 1: all want the same thing in a way where everybody
- 48:50Speaker 1: wants the hunger pangs thing to be over because Big
- 48:55Speaker 1: Mom is so dangerous in this state to everyone. But
- 48:59Speaker 1: if we bring her out of this state, we the
- 49:03Speaker 1: straw hats aren't like in a better position than we were, right.
- 49:10Speaker 1: I feel like maybe it's worse for them for her
- 49:13Speaker 1: to be in her right mind. It's pretty much for
- 49:16Speaker 1: the sake of the common people on the islands that
- 49:20Speaker 1: we want her out of this state. If I'm not mistaken,
- 49:25Speaker 1: I don't know if like the idea was going to
- 49:29Speaker 1: be like, Okay, we'll leave the cake on like a
- 49:32Speaker 1: raft and beat a quick retreat as fast as we
- 49:37Speaker 1: can and make our getaway and by the time she's
- 49:40Speaker 1: done eating the cake, that that's going to take a
- 49:43Speaker 1: significant amount of time. Maybe that once she is out
- 49:48Speaker 1: of her state, she'll look up and will be long
- 49:50Speaker 1: gone because she was so completely consumed with the act
- 49:55Speaker 1: of eating pun intended. Yeah, I'm not really totally. It's
- 50:01Speaker 1: just a weird It's weird for all of us to
- 50:04Speaker 1: kind of want the same thing. Even though we're all
- 50:06Speaker 1: on opposing sides. Everybody still wants her to get this
- 50:12Speaker 1: fucking cake and shut the fuck up about it.
- 50:14Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying.
- 50:15Speaker 1: And it's just rare that you come across moments like
- 50:19Speaker 1: this where everybody is united temporarily in wanting the same thing.
- 50:26Speaker 1: And I don't really know what to predict from that, Like,
- 50:31Speaker 1: I I keep running into the idea of Mom finally
- 50:39Speaker 1: figuring out that she like eate those people when she
- 50:42Speaker 1: was younger.
- 50:44Speaker 2: And I.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Don't know if she will ever find out, Like, how
- 50:51Speaker 1: would that even happen. There's got to be somebody. Well,
- 50:55Speaker 1: you guys have said that there were witnesses that I
- 50:57Speaker 1: didn't remember, but I believe you. So there are folks
- 51:01Speaker 1: who are out there who know, and they just either
- 51:06Speaker 1: they never said anything to her or she didn't believe them.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I'm going to go ahead and assume they just never
- 51:10Speaker 1: said anything to her.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I wonder how.
- 51:15Speaker 1: All this could Is it possible she doesn't know? That
- 51:22Speaker 1: can't be it. I was gonna say maybe she had
- 51:24Speaker 1: the memories removed on purpose because they were too painful
- 51:27Speaker 1: by putting at one point, but it seemed that she
- 51:30Speaker 1: didn't remember having done it right afterward, but like long
- 51:33Speaker 1: before pudding was around, so that can't be how that worked.
- 51:39Speaker 2: And let's see.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I forgot about that.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Paris Berro mentions big Mom is losing weight because she
- 51:48Speaker 1: is having her hunger pangs and like you know, walking around.
- 51:52Speaker 1: So that does explain part of why the animation on
- 51:55Speaker 1: her looks different. That's where some of that is coming.
- 51:57Speaker 1: I totally forgot about that. And there's also a mention
- 52:06Speaker 1: of soulong and I don't know what that is, but
- 52:11Speaker 1: like it's a moment of like I feel like, uh,
- 52:19Speaker 1: what do you call it? Jimbay, there's just a mention
- 52:26Speaker 1: of this, and I was like, what exactly does that mean?
- 52:28Speaker 2: And I don't know if this.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Maybe this is part of like carrot turning into something,
- 52:37Speaker 1: but yeah, so anyway, I feel like I'm just trying
- 52:42Speaker 1: to make sure that I covered everything. I feel like, oh,
- 52:45Speaker 1: you know what, I feel like the soulong might be
- 52:48Speaker 1: I didn't turn it off in time, and so it
- 52:51Speaker 1: started to do that like next time on one Piece,
- 52:54Speaker 1: And I think that Jimbe saying soulong was a preview
- 52:57Speaker 1: for the next episode I didn't really hear very much,
- 53:01Speaker 1: so I didn't get too too spoiled on that front,
- 53:05Speaker 1: but just trying to make sure that the fucking thing
- 53:10Speaker 1: with the homies, I swear that is so funny, And yeah,
- 53:18Speaker 1: I'm going to I think I'm gonna wrap up because
- 53:21Speaker 1: looking through I believe I've covered pretty much everything. There's
- 53:25Speaker 1: still that moment where Putting is like about to try
- 53:28Speaker 1: and jump in to help Chaffon and Sanji tells her
- 53:33Speaker 1: not to because then you'll get branded a trader too,
- 53:36Speaker 1: and she's just like, oh, he's worried about me and
- 53:40Speaker 1: you guys. I swear to God, if they don't wind
- 53:43Speaker 1: up actually getting to be a permanent couple from here on,
- 53:45Speaker 1: I'm going to be so disappointed because I just really
- 53:48Speaker 1: enjoy this a lot.
- 53:49Speaker 2: It's fun. It's just fun to.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Watch it really is. It's such a you know what
- 53:55Speaker 1: it is. It's like a relief to be least from
- 54:00Speaker 1: the perpetually horny Sanjy for a change. So we're still
- 54:05Speaker 1: getting the goofiness, but it's not coming from the same source,
- 54:08Speaker 1: and it's so it's not feeling so repetitive and annoying.
- 54:14Speaker 1: But yeah, also, Oven, I really really do not like
- 54:21Speaker 1: this guy like I want. He's over here heating up
- 54:31Speaker 1: the water, keeping the ship from rolling forward. And it's
- 54:38Speaker 1: again Pound that comes into the mix and hits Oven
- 54:41Speaker 1: over the head with a giant like baseball that type.
- 54:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Pound is just really out here in the mix, ready
- 54:54Speaker 1: to throw himself on the line, and I cannot help.
- 54:57Speaker 2: But respect that.
- 55:00Speaker 1: But yet he pulls him like Oven.
- 55:03Speaker 2: It's not like.
- 55:04Speaker 1: Pound actually really hurt him. Oven just like who the
- 55:08Speaker 1: fuck did that? And pulls himself up out of the
- 55:11Speaker 1: water in response. It's not like Pound really stopped him,
- 55:16Speaker 1: you know. And it's that moment where he's like facing
- 55:23Speaker 1: down of and again where he spots Cheffon and has
- 55:27Speaker 1: that like flashback, and I.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Just really.
- 55:33Speaker 1: Want them to actually meet up. I really hope that
- 55:37Speaker 1: Pound gets to have his happy ending with Cheffon and
- 55:41Speaker 1: that it's not like, oh, he finally meets her after
- 55:45Speaker 1: giving up his life as he's gasping out his last
- 55:48Speaker 1: holding her hand and telling her I am so proud
- 55:52Speaker 1: of what you've become.
- 55:54Speaker 2: And then dies.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I want Pound to really get to be in his
- 56:01Speaker 1: daughter's life and play with his grandson and hang out
- 56:06Speaker 1: with Begie like he would be a perfect fit in
- 56:10Speaker 1: that whole environment. I am very very hopeful about that.
- 56:14Speaker 1: So fingers crossed.
- 56:17Speaker 2: And trying to think.
- 56:19Speaker 1: I feel like I just have this feeling, you guys,
- 56:21Speaker 1: that there is something else that I am forgetting and
- 56:24Speaker 1: I cannot remember what it is. I'll just mention that loofy,
- 56:32Speaker 1: even though it seems like he has a better idea
- 56:35Speaker 1: of what he's dealing with with category when he jumps
- 56:37Speaker 1: back into the fight, he's not doing any better than
- 56:40Speaker 1: he did before.
- 56:40Speaker 2: He's still missing him.
- 56:42Speaker 1: So I'm not really sure where this is going because
- 56:48Speaker 1: from the way he was talking, it seemed as if
- 56:50Speaker 1: he had really begun to figure something out. But the
- 56:54Speaker 1: approach he's taking to the fight doesn't change. I'm sure
- 56:59Speaker 1: it will, but I'm just I just don't know what
- 57:03Speaker 1: it's going to look like. So we'll see, all right.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I'm going to wrap this up a little bit early,
- 57:10Speaker 1: but I've gone over so many times that I think
- 57:12Speaker 1: it all evens out in the end. But thank you,
- 57:14Speaker 1: guys again so much for hang out. Appreciate you. Thank
- 57:18Speaker 1: you to Florian for commissioning this episode. I hope that
- 57:21Speaker 1: y'all are enjoying the coverage and until next time, do
- 57:25Speaker 1: it a little motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled network podcast.
- 58:00Speaker 1: Two
