Minnesota’s Northland is getting aerial help this week to battle spongy moths—planes are flying silently overhead releasing a synthetic pheromone that tricks male moths into chasing ghosts, disrupting reproduction. These pests devastate over 300 tree species by stripping leaves, weakening forests and making them vulnerable to disease.
