Latest / The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show / Hour 2 - The Polls Are Never Accurate
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Second hour of Clay and Buck kicks off now. We
- 0:03Speaker 1: are joined by Mike Collins. He represents the 10th District
- 0:07Speaker 1: of Georgia, and he is a candidate for the Republicans,
- 0:10Speaker 1: of course, in the great state of Georgia up against Ossoff.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Representative Collins, I see you're in a vehicle. Thank you
- 0:19Speaker 1: for making the time for us. I know you're very
- 0:21Speaker 1: busy trying to bring this race to a successful conclusion
- 0:24Speaker 1: in your favor with a big W. How's it going
- 0:27Speaker 1: so far? Yeah.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You know, the momentum is out there. We've felt the
- 0:33Speaker 2: momentum for a few weeks now. And you can feel
- 0:35Speaker 2: the push. The Republicans are showing up. We've got to
- 0:38Speaker 2: continue to encourage them to show up. We've got another
- 0:42Speaker 2: full week of early voting next week. And that momentum,
- 0:46Speaker 2: you can see that in the people that are out
- 0:48Speaker 2: there voting. This race, I know polling and you know polling. Polls,
- 0:51Speaker 2: they don't really tell the true story. This race has
- 0:54Speaker 2: been in the margin era. It has been tight. And
- 0:58Speaker 2: we've been seeing that this race is winnable. It is
- 1:01Speaker 2: still the number one race in the country to flip.
- 1:04Speaker 2: And I'm going to be a U.S. senator from Georgia
- 1:06Speaker 2: after November the 3rd.
- 1:08Speaker 3: President Trump has been in Georgia rallying, holding a variety
- 1:13Speaker 3: of events. You've got a big governor's race going on, too.
- 1:16Speaker 3: What is the impact as you see it from the
- 1:19Speaker 3: president coming into Georgia?
- 1:21Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it's obvious he's coming back for a
- 1:23Speaker 2: second time. That tells you he knows this race is winnable.
- 1:27Speaker 2: President Trump always has that ability to get that low propensity.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Those people that only turn out when Trump's on the
- 1:33Speaker 2: ballot or Trump is encouraging them to get out and
- 1:36Speaker 2: go vote. And that's what you're seeing. He's going to
- 1:40Speaker 2: the right areas. He's making sure that those people get engaged.
- 1:44Speaker 2: And when they do, that's when the tides really turn.
- 1:47Speaker 2: You know, President Trump won this state handily. This state
- 1:52Speaker 2: is not a blue state. It's not purple. This state
- 1:55Speaker 2: is really red. And we're going to show that come
- 1:58Speaker 2: November the 3rd. I can tell you that. The people
- 2:01Speaker 2: are excited and they're engaged because you've got a sitting U.S.
- 2:05Speaker 2: senator who has voted almost 100 percent of the time
- 2:09Speaker 2: with Bernie Sanders. Now, if that doesn't reflect this state
- 2:13Speaker 2: or the people or our values, there's no one in
- 2:15Speaker 2: this state that believes in things like men should be
- 2:18Speaker 2: in girls sports. No, but I've not met a single
- 2:21Speaker 2: soul out there. And yet we're putting 2000 plus miles
- 2:25Speaker 2: a week on a vehicle and crisscrossing this state meeting
- 2:30Speaker 2: having four to six events a day, meeting with thousands
- 2:34Speaker 2: of people a week. And and we know that that
- 2:38Speaker 2: these the state of Georgia has had enough of John Ossoff.
- 2:43Speaker 2: And that's why he's going to get fired on November 3rd.
- 2:46Speaker 1: With Mike Collins now, he is running against Ossoff in Georgia.
- 2:49Speaker 1: We've got a lot of Georgia listeners, so got to
- 2:51Speaker 1: make sure you get out there to the polls, everybody.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Make sure you vote. You said that he votes with
- 2:58Speaker 1: Bernie Sanders a lot, so obviously this guy's a Democrat.
- 3:01Speaker 1: He's very blue, very left, and all that. Does he
- 3:04Speaker 1: try to lean center at this time, though? Are there
- 3:07Speaker 1: some issues where all of a sudden Ossoff, pretends to
- 3:10Speaker 1: be a little more centrist, just long enough to fool
- 3:13Speaker 1: some grannies who weren't paying close attention to the reality?
- 3:16Speaker 1: Or is he just going hard left all the way?
- 3:19Speaker 2: No, he's going hard left all the way. When you
- 3:23Speaker 2: have a sitting U.S. senator who will not talk about
- 3:25Speaker 2: his voting record, we've had two debates, and he has
- 3:28Speaker 2: yet to explain a single vote that he took. School choice,
- 3:33Speaker 2: voting against S-corporations, rural hospitals. I mean, my goodness, he
- 3:38Speaker 2: voted against saving our rural hospitals across this state. And
- 3:43Speaker 2: he won't talk about his record. It's because he can't.
- 3:46Speaker 2: The only thing this guy is doing, John Ossoff is
- 3:49Speaker 2: going to be the Democratic Socialist of America candidate for president.
- 3:54Speaker 2: He just endorsed another DSA candidate this week, the lady
- 3:58Speaker 2: in Oklahoma. He has taken that mantle from Bernie Sanders.
- 4:02Speaker 2: He's using Georgia as a platform. He really doesn't care
- 4:05Speaker 2: about us. You can see that in his voting records.
- 4:08Speaker 2: He's using that voting record and he is running as
- 4:11Speaker 2: far left as he can to raise money. That's the
- 4:14Speaker 2: only thing he needs to Georgia for is to be
- 4:16Speaker 2: a U.S. senator to raise money. And that's that's what
- 4:19Speaker 2: he's doing. The people are on to it now, especially
- 4:23Speaker 2: after we've been out there showing the folks in this
- 4:26Speaker 2: state exactly what this guy's up to. And we got
- 4:30Speaker 2: to get rid of him. We got to get rid
- 4:32Speaker 2: of John Ossoff so that he doesn't become a problem
- 4:34Speaker 2: for this country.
- 4:36Speaker 3: What do you need people in Georgia to do to
- 4:39Speaker 3: make that possible?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Two things. Make sure you get out there and vote.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Get out there and vote. And not only go vote,
- 4:46Speaker 2: but go vote early. Because when you go vote early,
- 4:49Speaker 2: it's doing what we anticipated it to do. The news
- 4:52Speaker 2: media has got to report that. They're reporting that Republicans
- 4:55Speaker 2: are showing up and the momentum is with the Republicans.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And that'll depress the opposition. It always does. But also
- 5:02Speaker 2: make sure that you take family and friends out there
- 5:04Speaker 2: to go with you to vote. John Ossoff only won
- 5:08Speaker 2: the runoff in 2020 by 55,000 votes. He won it
- 5:10Speaker 2: with 50.6% of the vote. He is down. The latest
- 5:13Speaker 2: polling has him down to 48% if you want to
- 5:15Speaker 2: look at polls. Forty eight percent. He is going in
- 5:23Speaker 2: the wrong direction for him. The right direction for us.
- 5:27Speaker 2: That shows when you have a sitting U.S. senator who
- 5:30Speaker 2: can't poll in the high 50s. Oh, he's got he's
- 5:33Speaker 2: got huge problems. All we got to do is make
- 5:36Speaker 2: sure we turn out our voters. And that's what we're
- 5:38Speaker 2: out there doing. If you're in the state of Georgia,
- 5:40Speaker 2: take time. Please go vote today. Go make your vote,
- 5:43Speaker 2: secure your vote and take your family and friends with you.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Mike Collins, appreciate you being with us. Best of luck
- 5:50Speaker 1: to you. We hope you bring home a big W,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and if so, please come back on the show. We'll
- 5:54Speaker 1: do a little victory dance together, okay?
- 5:56Speaker 2: You know we will, and I appreciate y'all having me on.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You know, another thing people can do for us, they
- 6:00Speaker 2: can go to MikeCollinsGA.com. They can help us out, chip
- 6:04Speaker 2: in a few bucks, make sure that we keep the
- 6:06Speaker 2: advertising going out there and making sure that we continue
- 6:09Speaker 2: to get out that vote.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Thanks for being here, Congressman Collins.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Appreciate you. Clay? We're hopeful that we're going to get
- 6:18Speaker 1: some in defiance of the prediction markets. Quick question for you.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You're a Friday Night Lights fan. Does Mike Collins look
- 6:27Speaker 1: like a little bit, a little bit like he could
- 6:29Speaker 1: be related to Buddy Garrity from Friday Night Lights for you?
- 6:33Speaker 3: That's a good call. Every single high school in the
- 6:37Speaker 3: South has a Buddy Garrity. That is, for those of
- 6:41Speaker 3: you who don't know, he's the car dealership owner, the booster.
- 6:44Speaker 1: He was, by the way, he was the heart and
- 6:46Speaker 1: soul of that show, actually. I mean, everyone loves Coach Taylor.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He's so handsome. Yeah, but Buddy Garrity is like, he's
- 6:54Speaker 1: kind of the foundation upon which the show is built
- 6:56Speaker 1: in a lot of ways.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Oh, I think Buddy would be a great show in
- 7:01Speaker 3: and of himself because there's so many of these southern
- 7:04Speaker 3: booster football-obsessed guys. Obviously, I know... thousands of them all
- 7:11Speaker 3: over the Southeast. But yeah, Mike Collins, that's a good,
- 7:13Speaker 3: that's a good callback. You want a positive buck? I
- 7:15Speaker 3: was just telling you this. I love positives. I love positives.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Florida Republicans are flooding the polls. And again, just cause
- 7:25Speaker 3: I say nice things. Don't think, well, that means I
- 7:27Speaker 3: don't need to go. Clay said nice things. So that
- 7:30Speaker 3: means I don't need to go. Clay said bad things.
- 7:32Speaker 3: So that means I don't need to go. We want
- 7:34Speaker 3: you to be good Americans. Like both Buck and I
- 7:37Speaker 3: now are good Americans. But now that Buck has voted
- 7:41Speaker 3: and his full-throated support is behind Ashley Moody in the
- 7:45Speaker 3: Senate and Byron Donalds as governor, the polymarket and calci
- 7:52Speaker 3: prediction markets are surging as Byron Donalds has hit a
- 7:57Speaker 3: record today for winning is at 83% and Ashley Moody
- 8:01Speaker 3: is up to nearly 92%. So in the entire campaign,
- 8:08Speaker 3: They have never been bigger favorites than they are right now.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And that is because Florida actually does a great job
- 8:16Speaker 3: of just posting in real time every day how many
- 8:20Speaker 3: Democrats showed up, how many Republicans showed up, what are
- 8:24Speaker 3: the total numbers, what do they look like. And it
- 8:28Speaker 3: is increasingly becoming clear that Florida is going to remain
- 8:34Speaker 3: a very red state in this midterm. Now, Buck, worth mentioning,
- 8:39Speaker 3: There were two states that really stood out as 2022
- 8:45Speaker 3: stalwarts when it came to the voting in their states,
- 8:49Speaker 3: New York and Florida. Both went very red in 2022.
- 8:55Speaker 3: That is largely the reason why the House flipped. We
- 8:59Speaker 3: mentioned Lee Zeldin running a very good campaign for governor,
- 9:03Speaker 3: losing by about six and a half points to Kathy Hochul. Florida, what,
- 9:08Speaker 3: DeSantis won by 19 points, I think, over his opponent
- 9:12Speaker 3: in the 2022 Florida governor's race. Byron Donalds and Ashley
- 9:18Speaker 3: Moody are both on track to win big race victories.
- 9:22Speaker 3: And that also bodes well, Buck, for all of the
- 9:26Speaker 3: redrawn Florida congressional districts. Florida was hoping to add four,
- 9:31Speaker 3: maybe five potential Republican districts in that state. Florida is
- 9:37Speaker 3: deep red. Clay, Fortress, Florida, the free state of Florida.
- 9:42Speaker 3: We had no doubts down here, all my fellow Floridians.
- 9:45Speaker 3: We were feeling calm, cool, confident, almost like a spray
- 9:50Speaker 3: of ocean air while we're sitting there drinking a delicious
- 9:55Speaker 3: Mai Tai on the beach. We knew that we were
- 9:58Speaker 3: going to come through big. I'm just going to say.
- 10:00Speaker 1: it is interesting timing that all of a sudden there's
- 10:02Speaker 1: a big surge when the Sexton brothers show up to
- 10:05Speaker 1: the polls. It's kind of like when the good guys,
- 10:07Speaker 1: when the cavalry arrives. When the Apache are about to
- 10:10Speaker 1: overrun the wagon train and all of a sudden the
- 10:13Speaker 1: Sexton brothers up on that hill chomping on a cigar,
- 10:17Speaker 1: shotguns at the ready come just come swooping down, swooping
- 10:21Speaker 1: down to deliver justice, freedom and the American way. So, yes, Florida,
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's a good day. We're going to we're going to
- 10:29Speaker 1: come through huge big win here. And it's really funny,
- 10:32Speaker 1: you know, by the way, people always forget this. Florida
- 10:34Speaker 1: is really now the adopted home state of the Trump family, too.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I mean, they're of New York like me originally, but
- 10:40Speaker 1: all the Trump's pretty much now live in Florida. So
- 10:43Speaker 1: it's Trump's home state and not just him, but also
- 10:45Speaker 1: his family members, too.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I've got a funny comment to make on Florida as
- 10:51Speaker 3: Republicans are flooding the state. Angie Nixon, the socialist Democrat nominee.
- 10:58Speaker 3: is now saying, according to Politico, that it is racist
- 11:03Speaker 3: that she has not gotten more support from the Democrat
- 11:07Speaker 3: Party on her race. I would just point out, Byron
- 11:12Speaker 3: Donalds happens to be black and is dominating in the
- 11:15Speaker 3: state of Florida. Maybe Angie Nixon is struggling because she
- 11:20Speaker 3: is a socialist in Florida. not because she is a
- 11:23Speaker 3: black woman in Florida.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Isn't it also interesting? We don't even have this discussion
- 11:29Speaker 1: really anymore, but that Byron Donalds is black and about
- 11:33Speaker 1: to become the governor of the third or third, fourth
- 11:38Speaker 1: biggest state, third biggest, third biggest state, right? I'm trying
- 11:40Speaker 1: to think. It's California, Texas, Florida. Yeah, third biggest state.
- 11:44Speaker 1: So that he's about to become the governor of the
- 11:46Speaker 1: third biggest state in America. Go vote. We're not trying
- 11:49Speaker 1: to get you to not go finish off the job here.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Republicans just always go, yeah, we just want great people
- 11:55Speaker 1: to take these jobs and represent their fellow Americans. Democrats,
- 12:00Speaker 1: it's always, you know, every time, oh, Kamala, she was
- 12:02Speaker 1: going to be the first black female president. Oh, Kamala,
- 12:05Speaker 1: she's a black woman. We elect people in the Republican
- 12:10Speaker 1: Party who are black, who are women, who are Latino,
- 12:14Speaker 1: Marco Rubio is Secretary of State. It doesn't even really...
- 12:18Speaker 1: we're just electing good people. You know what I'm saying?
- 12:20Speaker 1: It's just such a different mindset. Um, and it's because
- 12:24Speaker 1: Democrats of course play that DEI game all the time. And,
- 12:27Speaker 1: and they view people as like, everyone has to go
- 12:30Speaker 1: into these buckets, these artificial buckets that they create. But
- 12:33Speaker 1: for Republicans, yeah, we just want the best person for
- 12:37Speaker 1: the job, whatever their race, whatever their, whatever their gender. Um,
- 12:41Speaker 1: there are only two genders, so they got to pick one.
- 12:43Speaker 1: But I'd also say clay today is, uh, It's a
- 12:47Speaker 1: day that should be remembered, not just, well, because it's
- 12:51Speaker 1: a nice day outside. Clarence Thomas, 35 years ago today,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I believe, was sworn in to the Supreme Court. So
- 13:02Speaker 1: happy Clarence Thomas Day, everybody. One of the greatest living
- 13:07Speaker 1: black Americans, one of the greatest living Americans, period. Clarence Thomas.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I think the greatest Supreme Court justice of our lifetime.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I think he actually edges out Scalia for me. So
- 13:17Speaker 1: there you go.
- 13:19Speaker 3: He's certainly going to set an all-time record. Let me
- 13:23Speaker 3: just say this, and I hope he lives to be 110.
- 13:27Speaker 3: We got a lot of old justices. I think the
- 13:30Speaker 3: number one reason that you should be voting candidly in
- 13:34Speaker 3: the midterms is for Senate control because for the next
- 13:38Speaker 3: two years, Trump has the ability to put a new
- 13:41Speaker 3: Supreme Court justice on, which would give him four. If
- 13:45Speaker 3: something were to happen in either direction, there's a lot
- 13:48Speaker 3: of people over 70. And I would think that many
- 13:51Speaker 3: of you out there, given what we've seen happen with
- 13:54Speaker 3: politicians of both parties that have gotten over 70, never
- 13:59Speaker 3: know when it's going to happen. Scalia just died in
- 14:01Speaker 3: his sleep. Ruth Bader Ginsburg died right before the election yesterday.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I unfortunately think there's a decent chance there will be
- 14:10Speaker 3: a vacancy in the next two years. And if you
- 14:13Speaker 3: want Trump to fill that vacancy, which hopefully somebody be
- 14:17Speaker 3: on there 30, 40 years, Buck, that may be the
- 14:20Speaker 3: most important and consequential decision that he could make over
- 14:23Speaker 3: the next two years. So just FYI, I think that
- 14:26Speaker 3: alone is reason to show up and vote for Republicans
- 14:30Speaker 3: in major Senate races all over the country.
- 14:35Speaker 1: If you own a life insurance policy, ask yourself what
- 14:37Speaker 1: your policy is actually worth right now. It might be
- 14:39Speaker 1: a hard question to answer off the top of your head.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It may be worth much more than you think, though.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Before you let that policy lapse or cash it out
- 14:46Speaker 1: for pennies, explore your options. That's where Abacus Global Management
- 14:49Speaker 1: comes in. Abacus is a leading financial services company specializing

- 15:42Speaker 3: Smart fun sane the clay and buck show here every
- 15:48Speaker 3: day for your listening pleasure.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Welcome back into clay and buck getting your calls and
- 15:52Speaker 1: talkbacks uh also want to remind you third hour we
- 15:56Speaker 1: are set to be joined hopefully there's not like a
- 15:59Speaker 1: financial meltdown between now and then we're set to be
- 16:01Speaker 1: joined by treasury secretary scott besant and that's he he
- 16:06Speaker 1: is one of the real standouts, one of the real
- 16:09Speaker 1: all-stars in terms of just importance, uh, his role in
- 16:12Speaker 1: this administration. Uh, he seems to have completely won the
- 16:15Speaker 1: respect of Trump and all of his white house. So
- 16:19Speaker 1: he's going to weigh in on things like cost of
- 16:21Speaker 1: living and all these things that we, uh, obviously affect
- 16:24Speaker 1: the finance or come from the financial world that are
- 16:26Speaker 1: very important for all of us to pay close attention to.
- 16:30Speaker 1: We also have some talkbacks here. Here we go. Um, B,
- 16:36Speaker 1: California listener, listens on KFBK. Play B. Hey, guys.
- 16:40Speaker 4: It's no mystery why Ohio is in the air. Nobody
- 16:43Speaker 4: likes Vivek. He's using the Republican platform. He is not Republican.
- 16:49Speaker 4: And the things he said about Americans, people don't forget
- 16:51Speaker 4: that kind of stuff. You know, it's a shame that
- 16:54Speaker 4: Republicans in Ohio are forced to choose between those two candidates.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I will hold my full assessment of all of this
- 17:01Speaker 1: until after the election. That is the best I can
- 17:06Speaker 1: do right now on that.
- 17:07Speaker 3: I said if you– so Florida, things are rolling in
- 17:11Speaker 3: a very positive way. Red state staying red. My biggest
- 17:16Speaker 3: fear right now of any red state, Trump won Ohio
- 17:20Speaker 3: by 11 points, is Ohio for both governor and Senate.
- 17:24Speaker 3: It's the one that is most in danger, I think. Well,
- 17:27Speaker 3: this is what now people are saying.
- 17:29Speaker 1: The real concern is that Vivek's candidacy– not only is
- 17:33Speaker 1: going to go down in absolute flames in a state
- 17:36Speaker 1: we absolutely should win against a weak candidate for the
- 17:39Speaker 1: governor's mansion, but could take the Senate seat down with him.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It's a disaster if that happens. Anyway, hopefully it doesn't happen.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Get out there and vote Ohio. I will share full
- 17:49Speaker 1: thoughts on all this after the election. That's the kindest
- 17:53Speaker 1: thing I can do right now. Go ahead, Clay.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Show up in big numbers, Ohio. Please show up. I
- 18:01Speaker 3: got to tell you, if you want to make sure
- 18:04Speaker 3: that you're protecting your home and you want to do
- 18:06Speaker 3: it in a non-lethal way, maybe you got kids, grandkids
- 18:09Speaker 3: around the house that could end up getting into your
- 18:12Speaker 3: weapons and you're concerned about lethal weapons, but you want
- 18:15Speaker 3: to have Non-lethal weapons, Sabre has the best home defense
- 18:20Speaker 3: products out on the market. The Sabre Home Defense Launcher,
- 18:25Speaker 3: one of many great tools to have on hand in
- 18:27Speaker 3: your home. Seven powerful impact pepper projectiles, two more than
- 18:32Speaker 3: most competitors. That matters when you need extra power to
- 18:35Speaker 3: stop an advancing intruder. They got bear spray, they got
- 18:39Speaker 3: mountain lion spray, they got pepper spray. You're going to
- 18:42Speaker 3: love it and be glad that you have access to it.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Go to sabreradio.com, S-A-B-R-E radio.com, 844-824-SAFE. Welcome back into Clay
- 18:54Speaker 3: and Buck.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Matt Towery joins us now, pollster and author of The
- 18:58Speaker 1: Honoring of Ignorance, The Seven Mirages Destroying America. Matt, before
- 19:04Speaker 1: we get into the book, and congrats on the book,
- 19:06Speaker 1: by the way, the polls, there are some fake ones,
- 19:10Speaker 1: aren't there? And I really mean that. I don't just
- 19:12Speaker 1: mean bad polls. I mean fake, false polls. phony polls.
- 19:19Speaker 5: So guys, I've been polling for 26 years and before
- 19:23Speaker 5: that involved politics with Newt Gingrich and other folks. This
- 19:27Speaker 5: is my last year, but in the RealClearPolitics average, which
- 19:31Speaker 5: I think is the best and their scorecard, we scored
- 19:34Speaker 5: at the top of most pollsters every single cycle, maybe
- 19:37Speaker 5: one cycle not, but we're generally considered one of the
- 19:39Speaker 5: better pollsters.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Meanwhile, I have to.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Compete with these pollsters who pop up and all of
- 19:45Speaker 5: a sudden we find out they don't even poll.
- 19:48Speaker 6: Or today we found.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Out another one was soliciting people who are betting in
- 19:51Speaker 5: these markets saying, hey, we can move the averages. So
- 19:55Speaker 5: there is a major, I mean, you talk about sports,
- 19:59Speaker 5: this is becoming like sports, guys. And it's just crazy.
- 20:03Speaker 5: So yeah, we got a problem in the polling industry.
- 20:05Speaker 5: And that's why you can't believe half these polls you're
- 20:07Speaker 5: seeing right now.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Well, that's why I'm going. I'm watching CNN right now,
- 20:13Speaker 3: and 22.6 million ballots have now been cast. These are
- 20:20Speaker 3: early ballots. At what point, from your perspective, as somebody
- 20:23Speaker 3: who has looked at polling, do you shift from, hey,
- 20:27Speaker 3: this is what we project to happen, and move into, okay,
- 20:31Speaker 3: let's talk about what's actually happening? Because the early vote,
- 20:35Speaker 3: I'll call it a phenomenon. It only seems to be growing.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Both Buck and I have already voted. Obviously, you have
- 20:42Speaker 3: different dynamics here in play because of the way that
- 20:46Speaker 3: October surprises can happen. But if there's a later October surprise,
- 20:50Speaker 3: I've already done it. I've already got my votes in.
- 20:53Speaker 3: What are you seeing, if anything, from the 22 million
- 20:57Speaker 3: plus or so ballots that are already in?
- 21:01Speaker 6: Well, I think you pegged it yesterday or today.
- 21:04Speaker 5: You put a post up saying that this is looking
- 21:06Speaker 5: more like the 22 midterms, not some giant blue wave.
- 21:12Speaker 5: What I'm seeing is a silver wave. We have polled
- 21:16Speaker 5: along with Rasmussen and Trafalgar, which I think are the
- 21:19Speaker 5: two other best pollsters in this country, along with a
- 21:21Speaker 5: few others. Emerson College does a good job. There are others,
- 21:25Speaker 5: but we're all seeing the same thing. And that is the,
- 21:28Speaker 5: when we ask, are you enthusiastic about voting? Seniors are
- 21:32Speaker 5: like 20 points.
- 21:33Speaker 6: Above anybody else.
- 21:34Speaker 5: And now when we, We look at like the early
- 21:36Speaker 5: vote in Georgia. Do you know almost 50% of the
- 21:39Speaker 5: early vote in Georgia are 65 and over? And that number,
- 21:44Speaker 5: that percent, when you look at and compare it to
- 21:46Speaker 5: how they say they're going to vote, they're voting Republican
- 21:48Speaker 5: big time. So I have been dealing with this. So
- 21:52Speaker 5: the book, The Honoring of Ignorance, I wrote it originally
- 21:54Speaker 5: as a student at Cambridge. I know you can't believe that.
- 21:56Speaker 5: My twang doesn't sound that way, but I went to
- 21:58Speaker 5: law school in Florida. So I'm a good guy and
- 22:00Speaker 5: I'm a Georgian originally.
- 22:02Speaker 6: I wrote this book. back 40 years ago.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Got one of those New York literary agents, Anne Elmo,
- 22:10Speaker 5: who was a great lady.
- 22:11Speaker 6: She said she would take it on and she.
- 22:13Speaker 5: Shopped it to all these publishers and they came back
- 22:16Speaker 5: and they said the same thing. They said, we love
- 22:17Speaker 5: the book, but he's too young to say it. Well,
- 22:20Speaker 5: now guys, I'm retiring. I'm 67 years old. Am I
- 22:22Speaker 5: too old to say it?
- 22:23Speaker 6: That's the big question. Well, let me tell you what
- 22:27Speaker 6: I think is going on.
- 22:29Speaker 5: As usual, you have the pile on with the polls
- 22:32Speaker 5: that The aggregators, particularly Nate Silver and these other like
- 22:37Speaker 5: like folks.
- 22:38Speaker 6: I mean, real clear politics is very fair, but they
- 22:40Speaker 6: go in and rate everyone.
- 22:42Speaker 5: They rate us as being mediocre pollsters, even though Trafalgar,
- 22:46Speaker 5: Insider Advantage, Rasmussen have nailed all of the presidential contests.
- 22:51Speaker 5: And we're pretty good in the midterms last time, although
- 22:53Speaker 5: we went up, went.
- 22:54Speaker 6: A little bit over with the with the big red wave.
- 22:57Speaker 6: But they won't run our polls. I mean, they run
- 23:00Speaker 6: them in our aggregation. Some of them do. But they
- 23:03Speaker 6: try to denigrate us.
- 23:04Speaker 5: They take little bitty places that poll and people who
- 23:07Speaker 5: don't poll very often and put them ahead of us.
- 23:09Speaker 5: And as a result, you get this impression that every
- 23:12Speaker 5: time that there's just this giant blue wave coming and
- 23:16Speaker 5: it never materializes. What we're seeing right now, to be
- 23:19Speaker 5: to your point, we are seeing most of the states
- 23:22Speaker 5: that we're polling compress.
- 23:24Speaker 6: One point, two points.
- 23:26Speaker 5: For example, Iowa. Everybody said, oh, boy, that's going Democratic.
- 23:30Speaker 5: Today we have a poll out showing Iowa two points
- 23:32Speaker 5: up Republican. I think trending Republican.
- 23:35Speaker 6: Michigan.
- 23:36Speaker 5: It's one point now for El Sayed. But think about
- 23:39Speaker 5: the momentum. Rogers was down six, seven points in all
- 23:42Speaker 5: these other polls. All of a sudden, this thing is
- 23:44Speaker 5: almost dead even. Texas, dead even in almost everybody's polls.
- 23:48Speaker 5: So to your point, I see a trend. taking place
- 23:51Speaker 5: in which, yes, this is going to be a tight
- 23:53Speaker 5: election season. And obviously, whenever you have an incumbent president,
- 23:58Speaker 5: you have a war going on, you have other issues,
- 24:00Speaker 5: it's always going to take a little bit off. But
- 24:02Speaker 5: I think that these polling mavens, experts, the honoring of
- 24:07Speaker 5: ignorance that we see all the time is going to
- 24:10Speaker 5: once again blow up in their face. And we're going
- 24:11Speaker 5: to have very tight races. We're going to have some
- 24:13Speaker 5: Republican wins that nobody expects.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Matt, tell us about the book, will you? This is
- 24:19Speaker 1: very interesting. Clay and I both are not only authors,
- 24:22Speaker 1: but we actually write books, meaning that we write them,
- 24:24Speaker 1: which is unique these days, which we like to point out,
- 24:27Speaker 1: especially in the age of AI when you can basically
- 24:29Speaker 1: tell a book. Write a 200-page book for me in
- 24:31Speaker 1: 30 seconds. But tell us what the most important things
- 24:35Speaker 1: are from the book.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Well, so I did this from the perspective.
- 24:40Speaker 5: I mean, I'm an old guy now. I've met eight
- 24:42Speaker 5: American presidents over the years. There's many I've sort of
- 24:45Speaker 5: dealt with. Some I haven't, but I've been around most
- 24:48Speaker 5: of them. I have an idea of how elections run.
- 24:51Speaker 5: I've seen elections in terms of polling.
- 24:53Speaker 6: I was a candidate. I served in the Georgia House
- 24:54Speaker 6: of Representatives.
- 24:56Speaker 5: And we have a mirage machine in this country, and
- 24:59Speaker 5: it's made up of a disingenuous media that tries to
- 25:02Speaker 5: omit issues that or important facts, or they want to
- 25:06Speaker 5: contort them, or they simply make them up. And that
- 25:09Speaker 5: makes up about 75% of all the information Americans get.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Only 25% of American information that gets to the public
- 25:18Speaker 5: are conservative in nature. So most of what they get,
- 25:22Speaker 5: they get off of Google News, Apple News, they get online,
- 25:26Speaker 5: but it's fed from these liberal organizations. And then you
- 25:29Speaker 5: have fact checkers. I mean, guys, I had a fact checker, Snopes, Now,
- 25:33Speaker 5: we polled for ABC affiliates, NBC affiliates, all of the
- 25:37Speaker 5: Fox owned and operated affiliates. I've been doing affiliates, rather.
- 25:43Speaker 5: I've been doing Sean Hannity's polling for years. When Snopes
- 25:47Speaker 5: didn't like one of my polls last year, they wrote
- 25:50Speaker 5: something that said the following. We couldn't find anything about
- 25:52Speaker 5: them on their website. We don't know if they have
- 25:54Speaker 5: a physical office and we have no idea if they're credible. Well,
- 25:58Speaker 5: you could have Googled it or gone to RealClearPolitics to
- 26:01Speaker 5: see we've been around longer than most pollsters and that
- 26:03Speaker 5: we poll for everybody. So when you have fact checkers
- 26:06Speaker 5: making up stories, or in my opinion, when you have
- 26:09Speaker 5: the media pushing a certain agenda and when you don't
- 26:12Speaker 5: have a countervailing force because there's a lot of conservative media,
- 26:15Speaker 5: but it's not enough to fight these guys every day,
- 26:18Speaker 5: then the country gets brainwashed. That mirage machine goes into work.
- 26:22Speaker 5: The pollsters that they like and that they promote and
- 26:25Speaker 5: that they will repeat on TV are Those pollsters come
- 26:28Speaker 5: out and say, oh, yes, that's absolutely right. Trump's unpopular.
- 26:31Speaker 5: The war is unpopular. Everybody's upset about gas prices. They
- 26:35Speaker 5: put it in everybody's minds. And then the fact checkers say, oh, yeah,
- 26:38Speaker 5: that fact is right. And when you take all of
- 26:40Speaker 5: that together, what Republicans and conservatives are fighting against is
- 26:44Speaker 5: just unbelievable. And that's what I write about. I go
- 26:48Speaker 5: through all of the things that they've said about Trump. Trump,
- 26:51Speaker 5: the xenophobe, Trump, the racist, Trump, the warmonger. You go,
- 26:55Speaker 5: you name it.
- 26:56Speaker 6: I went through it.
- 26:57Speaker 5: And I show where each time the media omitted issues,
- 27:01Speaker 5: they presented it the wrong way, they twisted things. And
- 27:04Speaker 5: then in that milieu that they create, the American people
- 27:08Speaker 5: are brainwashed into thinking that Trump's bad, conservatives are bad,
- 27:11Speaker 5: Republicans are bad, they're going to lose. And we're seeing
- 27:13Speaker 5: all this stuff happen again right now. We have a
- 27:16Speaker 5: great economy going on other than one thing, the gas pump.
- 27:20Speaker 5: Inflation is half of what it was under Joe Biden
- 27:23Speaker 5: at this time when he was running during when they
- 27:25Speaker 5: were having the midterms. I mean, it was seven, almost
- 27:28Speaker 5: eight percent under Joe Biden. It's three point seven percent
- 27:31Speaker 5: under Trump. We have the lowest unemployment since the 1960s.
- 27:36Speaker 5: Personal income is up. Now, I do wish the Republicans
- 27:39Speaker 5: had had advertised this more. And I have a chapter
- 27:42Speaker 5: in the book at the end that says if Republicans
- 27:44Speaker 5: are really in a win down the road, they've got
- 27:46Speaker 5: to start running ads during June and May and July,
- 27:50Speaker 5: educating the public and letting them know the truth that
- 27:53Speaker 5: these media mirage machines will not let them hear about.
- 27:57Speaker 5: So that's why we always having to fight like hell
- 27:59Speaker 5: in the last two weeks to try to win an election.
- 28:01Speaker 5: But that is the story. It's how it affects a
- 28:05Speaker 5: public opinion. I talk about how the polling raiders and
- 28:09Speaker 5: mavens like Nate Silver and the old 538, they try
- 28:13Speaker 5: every way in the world to take the pollsters who
- 28:15Speaker 5: are the most accurate because we happen to come from
- 28:18Speaker 5: Republican backgrounds and decide that we're the worst pollsters.
- 28:21Speaker 6: And they don't want to run our polls. They want
- 28:23Speaker 6: to run.
- 28:23Speaker 5: They don't want to run our polls because we're the
- 28:25Speaker 5: best pollsters and we're right. And it happens to show
- 28:28Speaker 5: Republicans doing well.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Just like this.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Sorry to cut you off in this book. Sounds fascinating.
- 28:33Speaker 3: And this is awesome conversation. Buck and I are both
- 28:35Speaker 3: data nerds. The book, by the way, is I want
- 28:39Speaker 3: to make sure I get it right. The honoring of ignorance,
- 28:42Speaker 3: the seven mirages, the seven mirages destroying America. Tell me
- 28:47Speaker 3: about the filibuster. You write about the filibuster. There's been
- 28:50Speaker 3: a massive amount of discussion surrounding the filibuster in the
- 28:53Speaker 3: Senate in a minute or a minute and a half.
- 28:56Speaker 3: What is the history of the filibuster and what should
- 28:59Speaker 3: we know? What should this audience know about it?
- 29:03Speaker 5: Well, the first thing we should know is that there
- 29:05Speaker 5: was no such thing as filibuster. I mean, the Constitution,
- 29:08Speaker 5: for example, did not provide for direct election of the
- 29:10Speaker 5: president or the Senate. when the Electoral College was to meet.
- 29:14Speaker 5: By the way, there's no mention of the Electoral College
- 29:17Speaker 5: in the Constitution.
- 29:17Speaker 6: It just says electors.
- 29:19Speaker 5: But when they were to meet, they were to vote
- 29:21Speaker 5: for the president and the runner up would be the
- 29:23Speaker 5: vice president. So there was no ticket, there were no parties,
- 29:26Speaker 5: and there was no filibuster. The filibuster developed, and it's
- 29:29Speaker 5: too technical to go into right now, the filibuster developed
- 29:35Speaker 5: after several cycles. And it basically became a vehicle in
- 29:39Speaker 5: which some could get up and talk and talk and
- 29:41Speaker 5: talk to try to kill a bill. Well, at some point,
- 29:45Speaker 5: as we got into the modern era, the determination was, well,
- 29:48Speaker 5: let's not do that. Let's just say if you can't
- 29:50Speaker 5: get 60 senators in favor of something, we'll just say
- 29:54Speaker 5: it's a filibuster and we won't let the bill go through. Now,
- 29:58Speaker 5: The Republicans had a chance to get rid of that,
- 30:00Speaker 5: which would have allowed all of Trump's major bills to
- 30:03Speaker 5: go through everything. And President Trump has a list of
- 30:05Speaker 5: the Oval Office. He would show people this is what
- 30:07Speaker 5: I could get through if we got rid of the filibuster.
- 30:10Speaker 5: If we had done that, we wouldn't even have to
- 30:12Speaker 5: worry about these midterms. So much would have been accomplished
- 30:15Speaker 5: because we had a majority. But the senators wouldn't do it.
- 30:18Speaker 5: And I can assure you of one thing. If the
- 30:20Speaker 5: Democrats get control of the Senate, the first thing they
- 30:22Speaker 5: will do is get rid of the filibuster, which means
- 30:25Speaker 5: by simple majority action. They will pass bills and they
- 30:28Speaker 5: will be the worst bills in the world because they're
- 30:31Speaker 5: united in terms of what they want to do. And
- 30:33Speaker 5: the Republicans, because they're just a handful always who wouldn't
- 30:37Speaker 5: stick to the old rules, did not want to do
- 30:39Speaker 5: this for President Trump.
- 30:40Speaker 6: A grave mistake.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Very well said. Really well said. Matt Tower, everybody, author
- 30:47Speaker 1: of The Honoring of Ignorance, The Seven Mirages Destroying America and,
- 30:50Speaker 1: of course, Polster. And that was really interesting, really thorough, Matt.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 30:56Speaker 6: Thank you.

- 33:51Speaker 3: seen this article. But the New York Times is upset
- 33:54Speaker 3: because the Victoria's Secret fashion show was too sexy. So
- 33:59Speaker 3: we're going to have some fun talking about that. We
- 34:00Speaker 3: have got the secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besant, who

- 34:56Speaker 8: Just to let you know how much they favor the
- 34:58Speaker 8: mother in every state, especially Nebraska.
- 35:02Speaker 1: That sounds crazy. I know this is true. It's outrageous, honestly.
- 35:06Speaker 1: It really is. Guys in the so-called Manosphere podcast stuff
- 35:11Speaker 1: will talk about this. They're right. This is a big problem.
- 35:14Speaker 1: It shouldn't be this way.
- 35:16Speaker 3: It's broken based on history, and it now overwhelmingly favors women,
- 35:21Speaker 3: which is why I would say women initiate 80% of
- 35:24Speaker 3: divorces because the law favors them. They get more money
- 35:28Speaker 3: than they should. based in just being fair. Josh in Wisconsin,
- 35:34Speaker 3: News Talk 1130 WISN.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm worried about Texas, Clay. I don't
- 35:40Speaker 1: know if Paxton can do it.
- 35:41Speaker 8: There's a lot of heat against him.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Just my thoughts.
- 35:44Speaker 8: I'd like to hear what you're thinking.
- 35:46Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 35:46Speaker 4: Love the show.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Hey, what about me, Josh? Paxton's going to win.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Paxton's going to do it. Is it Wendy in Texas
- 35:53Speaker 3: who called in? I hope that Josh heard that enthusiasm.
- 35:56Speaker 3: We need a lot of Texans to show up. Patricia
- 35:59Speaker 3: in Arizona. News Talk 790 KNST.
- 36:02Speaker 9: As a divorced woman in that anomaly, the men initiated class.
- 36:07Speaker 9: I can tell you this. Most of these women, they
- 36:10Speaker 9: marry to change and mold that man into the person
- 36:14Speaker 9: they want. And the men marry the women so that
- 36:17Speaker 9: things stay the same. Neither of those is right, but
- 36:20Speaker 9: that's my take.
- 36:22Speaker 3: That's actually really astute, Buck. Most men, if they could
- 36:26Speaker 3: make their wife the exact same on that day forever,
- 36:30Speaker 3: they would be very happy with it. Most women would
- 36:33Speaker 3: be terrified if their husband was going to be the
- 36:35Speaker 3: same way that he is forever on the marriage. That's
- 36:37Speaker 3: actually kind of an interesting perspective.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I mean, you and I, we get wiser and sexier
- 36:42Speaker 1: and more desirable with each passing year. Guys, you know
- 36:46Speaker 1: how it is. We just age like fine wines.
