- 1:07Speaker 1: Whistles, twenty wine, everybody walk home on the show My
- 1:11Speaker 1: Kid It Thank You, We are back. I was pulling
- 1:15Speaker 1: into the studio here a minute ago. You know how
- 1:17Speaker 1: if there's traffic backed up and a car is trying
- 1:20Speaker 1: to get through the traffic line. There was a Windy's nearby,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and so he was in the middle, just trying to
- 1:24Speaker 1: get over to the Windy's. And so I pulled up
- 1:27Speaker 1: too close to the car behind me for him to
- 1:29Speaker 1: get through, and his window was down, and he was
- 1:33Speaker 1: really giving me the mean eye, and he was like
- 1:35Speaker 1: saying some crap too, And we.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Were right beside each other, his windows down, yours was not.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Mine was up Mo's up. So I didn't see him there.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But he thinks I should have left a gap for
- 1:45Speaker 1: him to pull through to the Windy's. Fine, all good.
- 1:48Speaker 1: I can't understand him being irritated to that. So I
- 1:50Speaker 1: rolled my window down and I said because he again
- 1:53Speaker 1: he was he was pissed. I said, hey, man, I
- 1:54Speaker 1: didn't see I'm sorry about that, and he's like, oh man,
- 1:56Speaker 1: no problem, no problem. Really change that quid.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, when the windows are up, it's like the internet well,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I didn't think.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You wanted to fight me, but it just shows you
- 2:05Speaker 1: all you have to do is like be human with
- 2:07Speaker 1: somebody and they'll be human back.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Sure, because he was in like a work truck, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: I get it. You probably hate your job. You go on,
- 2:15Speaker 1: he's like a plumbing heating.
- 2:17Speaker 2: You still have a lot of hours left in your shift.
- 2:19Speaker 1: It was early because we do this like eleven o'clock,
- 2:22Speaker 1: and he was just like, I was like, hey man,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I'm really sorry. Oh man, it's okay.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You know what. You can't really argue with hey man,
- 2:29Speaker 2: I'm sorry. You know, like, what are you gonna say?
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Sorry, my but like, yeah, I didn't do it. I
- 2:34Speaker 1: definitely didn't do it on purpose.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and I didn't do anything wrong.
- 2:36Speaker 1: It's not like when you pull up and you're in
- 2:38Speaker 1: the middle of an intersection and you're like, oh, I
- 2:39Speaker 1: just wasn't paying attention.
- 2:40Speaker 3: I did.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I should have pulled this far because the light is
- 2:43Speaker 1: so that just happened out. I felt pretty good him
- 2:45Speaker 1: make the world a brighter place today. Did he smile after?
- 2:48Speaker 3: Nah?
- 2:49Speaker 1: Okay, he still stayed not He also could have been hungry.
- 2:51Speaker 1: I don't think about that.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Sure, sure, head windows.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I could have been so that just happened. I wanted
- 2:56Speaker 1: to talk about something I did. It was really stupid.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So I brought this Dallas Cowboys homet in Kevin, you
- 3:00Speaker 1: don't know the story. Yes, so this is a triple
- 3:02Speaker 1: signature Cowboys helmet. I know it's Emmett Smith. I know
- 3:06Speaker 1: it's Michael Irvin. Oh my god, I don't know who
- 3:08Speaker 1: the other one is. Probably it seems like it might
- 3:11Speaker 1: be Ekman. I guess I could go to like if
- 3:15Speaker 1: you go to the I don't know, you can go
- 3:17Speaker 1: to the Yeah. The problem is I left it in
- 3:20Speaker 1: the window and the sun completely. I was looking at it.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I was like, is that invisible ink? You can barely
- 3:29Speaker 1: see it? And I guess I could figure out who
- 3:32Speaker 1: whose it is. But I left it in the window
- 3:34Speaker 1: and it is faded all three. So this is a
- 3:36Speaker 1: helmet that probably would have been like twenty five hundred
- 3:39Speaker 1: to three grand because it's a real helmet, old school helmet,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and its triple. It's a triple autograph.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Now here's the deal, though, Can you stencil or trace
- 3:48Speaker 2: some of those autographs and playoff like it's still there?
- 3:53Speaker 1: No, get someone with a steady hand.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Because you could see it enough to where you could
- 3:58Speaker 2: trace it if you, you know, if you were careful.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I don't think so. I mean, if you this was
- 4:05Speaker 1: me being stupid. Yeah, I just left into the window. Yeah,
- 4:09Speaker 1: and the sun did what the sun does. Yeah. No,
- 4:12Speaker 1: really blame but yourself.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So now we're really gonna assume that's saman Let's just
- 4:15Speaker 2: let's just call it.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Well, I can have somebody look it up. Can I
- 4:17Speaker 1: give this? Hey, Dylan, can I give this to you
- 4:20Speaker 1: on the back of these and you can let me
- 4:22Speaker 1: know there's three different like type those numbers and other
- 4:25Speaker 1: three dim sites. Okay, gosh, they don't play college football. Yeah,
- 4:29Speaker 1: we should have him sign it. Yes, yeah with the
- 4:31Speaker 1: other your number on there. Yeah. Whenever you are done,
- 4:34Speaker 1: just raise your hand up and I'll see you. I won't
- 4:36Speaker 1: go back to it. So all right, So I just
- 4:38Speaker 1: wanted to share that I really like, were you super bummed?
- 4:42Speaker 3: Okay?
- 4:44Speaker 2: I would When he told me, I'm like, you've got
- 4:46Speaker 2: to be kidding. I didn't see it. He was telling
- 4:48Speaker 2: me about it. I said, I'm like, let me go.
- 4:49Speaker 2: It can't be that bad. Let me go look at it. Oh,
- 4:51Speaker 2: it's bad.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I wasn't super bombed. I was a litt annoyed because
- 4:54Speaker 1: it's obvious. It's right in the freaking window of the
- 4:58Speaker 1: studio house. Yeah, and that sun that's some of your
- 5:02Speaker 1: kids would do.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Any Yeah, you know. That reminds me of one time
- 5:05Speaker 2: when somebody came by the studio. I don't remember who
- 5:08Speaker 2: it was, but they brought us back like a official
- 5:11Speaker 2: world series baseballs. Do you remember they were used during
- 5:14Speaker 2: the work series. That's who it was.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Dang, you do remember who brought us the gifts as.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Long time ago? And so I remember I took one
- 5:21Speaker 2: of those home and at one point my son got
- 5:23Speaker 2: a sharpie and wrote Babe Ruth on it, almost like
- 5:28Speaker 2: sand line, and he did r U t h E.
- 5:35Speaker 2: So that reminded me of that Dylan.
- 5:37Speaker 1: You have in trouble. Well okay, okay, so but you
- 5:43Speaker 1: do see how what's going? Okay if you get if
- 5:45Speaker 1: anything is off.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's pretty cool. You can just look at that number
- 5:48Speaker 2: and look it up.
- 5:49Speaker 1: That's how you authenticate it because they've authenticated it, and
- 5:52Speaker 1: so instead of sitting like a document, it gives you
- 5:54Speaker 1: a tag with the number on it, so you can
- 5:55Speaker 1: look it up on the Internet's cool. Troy Aigman believes
- 5:58Speaker 1: speaking of Troy, and I'm not sure if it's Troy
- 5:59Speaker 1: Aigman or not, but he believes that today's NFL players
- 6:02Speaker 1: might be getting hurt during the season because they don't
- 6:03Speaker 1: take enough punishment during training camp. They it's just old
- 6:07Speaker 1: school guys saying old school stuff. Yeah, would this be
- 6:10Speaker 1: like Barry Sanders going, I think they're weak because they
- 6:12Speaker 1: get too much water at practice.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's also kind of true, right, It's got
- 6:18Speaker 4: to be a little bit true.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Don't you think if it were kind of true or
- 6:21Speaker 1: a little bit true, and it was proven that we're
- 6:22Speaker 1: kind or a little bit true, they wouldn't do it
- 6:24Speaker 1: because they have enough science monitoring technology. And don't you
- 6:27Speaker 1: think they're weighing injuries during training camp and players that
- 6:31Speaker 1: don't even get to playing the season, which happens a
- 6:33Speaker 1: lot versus the other way around.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 4: And then the more I think about it, the more
- 6:36Speaker 4: I'm like, well, I bet more people got injured back
- 6:38Speaker 4: in the day, but it wasn't accounted for, like they
- 6:41Speaker 4: got concussions and every something about it exactly they played
- 6:44Speaker 4: with torn acls partially, yet they're aligned.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So that's what Troy's thinking of.
- 6:47Speaker 4: He's like, I know, we played through all these injuries,
- 6:49Speaker 4: and it's like, well, it's just different times.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Troy is the game faster now and tougher now, then,
- 6:55Speaker 2: don't make it's tougher.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think it's faster.
- 6:57Speaker 2: You don't think those hits are tougher.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think that guys are stronger, yes, but up is
- 7:00Speaker 1: different because you a wide receiver would go across the
- 7:02Speaker 1: middle and get killed. Yes, back in the eighties and nineties, Dylan,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you got it? Who are the three? Oh troyman, Michael,
- 7:11Speaker 1: so nobody would you hand that back over here?
- 7:12Speaker 3: Oh? Man?
- 7:13Speaker 2: That is just that's that's a crime.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Man.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Well, one of these guys on his helmet believes that
- 7:19Speaker 1: players now are soft. Troy likes his old guy takes. Yeah,
- 7:23Speaker 1: and he's smart enough to know because he's not total
- 7:25Speaker 1: old guy, that his old guy takes will probably go viral.
- 7:30Speaker 2: H Do you think he cares about going viral?
- 7:32Speaker 1: He's a media Yeah, yeah, I guess. And also he
- 7:34Speaker 1: has like a beard. He goes on podcasts and sells
- 7:37Speaker 1: like big te beer.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I think he said beard Bear.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Sells a beard. I'm going to say how much his
- 7:43Speaker 1: helmet helmet would have gone for helmet with Troy Aigman,
- 7:45Speaker 1: m Smith, Michael Irvin signed, I think it's worse. Well,
- 7:49Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to be more than what
- 7:50Speaker 1: I said. It could be less. At this point, what
- 7:51Speaker 1: did you say, Oh, it would have gone for three
- 7:54Speaker 1: thousand bucks.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Oh my good do we have to trace that?
- 7:58Speaker 1: You can't trace.
- 7:59Speaker 2: That, dude, Oh my gosh.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvan, Troy Aikman on NFL shop
- 8:07Speaker 1: dot com. What do you do with it?
- 8:09Speaker 3: Now?
- 8:09Speaker 1: That's I mean, it's trash your prize two thousand, six
- 8:13Speaker 1: hundred and forty nine dollars.
- 8:14Speaker 3: It's not.
- 8:16Speaker 1: It's still a new helmet. It's just a helmet. It's
- 8:17Speaker 1: a cowboys helmet, and it's a nineties literal nineties cowboys helme.
- 8:21Speaker 2: I no, but say you put oh, this was from
- 8:22Speaker 2: the nineties, this whole helmet.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Was well, look at the it's that's how they were made. Then. Yeah,
- 8:25Speaker 1: so it's an older helmet.
- 8:27Speaker 2: You think you put this in your office and then
- 8:28Speaker 2: when people come by your office, you're like, yeah, see
- 8:30Speaker 2: this helper right here is pretty cool. It's a it Well,
- 8:33Speaker 2: it was signed by Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman, and Michael Irvan.
- 8:36Speaker 2: But you can barely see it. No one's gonna think
- 8:39Speaker 2: that's cool.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Do you want to do you want to try to
- 8:41Speaker 1: resign it?
- 8:42Speaker 2: Yes, we just get one shut. Yeah, hey, let's all
- 8:44Speaker 2: do a player. You do Troyman, I call it, I'll
- 8:47Speaker 2: I'll do.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Somebody's signature looks a lot lighter on that thing.
- 8:51Speaker 2: There's one that you can barely see.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I'm talking about like easy to trace because they put
- 8:54Speaker 1: big letters. I see a big.
- 8:58Speaker 2: I can do the front one. See the front one.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Pretty, it's pretty siggly.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gonna be all shaky. It's not gonna look good.
- 9:05Speaker 1: You can have it. You can have it.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I can have this.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's trush. He doesn't want to.
- 9:12Speaker 3: Hold on that?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Really I can wow, I wouldn't resign over it there,
- 9:16Speaker 1: sure read my mind. You can, but you'll never be
- 9:21Speaker 1: able to sell it.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But I don't think you can sell like this. You
- 9:23Speaker 2: can barely see it. How would you put that on
- 9:27Speaker 2: the on the description?
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think you have it and it's just personally meaningful
- 9:32Speaker 1: to you with light signatures on it. Put do not
- 9:35Speaker 1: leave in sunlight if you want to, I know, don't
- 9:38Speaker 1: do what I disclaimer. Yeah, you can have it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Well, thank you. That's it really is really cool. And
- 9:46Speaker 2: to think that those three were touching this helmet, the
- 9:49Speaker 2: signatures are still there, I know, I know they're just light.
- 9:52Speaker 2: That's thank you, man, that's cool. Thank you.
- 9:54Speaker 1: There's a Shoho Tani jersey when he played in the
- 9:58Speaker 1: World Baseball Classic that's sold for one point five million bucks.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Just played. Dan.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Is he gonna be one of the greatest.
- 10:06Speaker 1: He may be the greatest baseball player of all time,
- 10:08Speaker 1: like already. I mean, he doesn't have the career numbers
- 10:13Speaker 1: that those guys have, But if he plays another ten years.
- 10:17Speaker 2: And continues what he's doing today.
- 10:18Speaker 1: He's already because he pitches, although they wouldn't let him
- 10:22Speaker 1: pitch it the Baseball as the Classic. Oh yeah, no pitching. Yeah,
- 10:25Speaker 1: but he is the best hitter in baseball and is
- 10:29Speaker 1: a top five, top seven pitcher, and alone either one
- 10:33Speaker 1: of those guys are making thirty forty fifty million dollars
- 10:37Speaker 1: a year. So yes, I think if his trajectory even
- 10:42Speaker 1: dims a bit and he plays another ten years, he
- 10:44Speaker 1: ends up being the best player every Well.
- 10:46Speaker 4: Crazy is how big he is too, you know, he's
- 10:47Speaker 4: so big, like physically imposing, and he does and he's fast.
- 10:51Speaker 1: He's a freak. You guys cared all about Opening Day? Yeah, yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 1: I wasn't ready for it. But it's kind of like
- 10:57Speaker 1: in three stages. It's like the first Netflix Night game, right.
- 11:01Speaker 1: I just like day. I think Opening Day should be
- 11:03Speaker 1: a bunch of It should be like March Madness. There
- 11:05Speaker 1: should be like all the games going at the same
- 11:07Speaker 1: But I'm so in the middle of March Madness. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: don't even care that much right now because my team
- 11:11Speaker 1: is still in. I think if my team wasn't still in,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm probably like, let's see what the Cubs are up to.
- 11:14Speaker 2: It's important to you right now.
- 11:16Speaker 1: But also it's like the Dodgers are just gonna win
- 11:17Speaker 1: it anyway.
- 11:18Speaker 6: I know.
- 11:19Speaker 1: That's what sucks.
- 11:21Speaker 4: It's like, are we gonna do this again. It's almost
- 11:22Speaker 4: like the Warriors ten years ago, where it's like, Okay,
- 11:24Speaker 4: this is fun and all, but at the end we
- 11:26Speaker 4: all know, like what's gonna happen.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 1: With the Warriors too, it was like, okay, they won
- 11:29Speaker 1: the championship. Oh, d Ranch joining the right after they
- 11:32Speaker 1: won the championship. I've been watching a decent amount of NBA,
- 11:37Speaker 1: not as much since we had the baby and I
- 11:39Speaker 1: used to just keep it on because I'll have NBA
- 11:42Speaker 1: Sunday Ticket on and just watch it all the time,
- 11:44Speaker 1: but never watch a game. I'd be doing other things
- 11:45Speaker 1: while it was on. So I have some notes. These
- 11:48Speaker 1: are my three NBA headlines as of right now, according
- 11:51Speaker 1: to Barely more than a casual Let's go, the Lakers
- 11:55Speaker 1: are now good. It's wild and I think the Lakers
- 11:58Speaker 1: are good now because Lebron is now the third option.
- 12:03Speaker 1: Lebron is a really good third option, but Luca is
- 12:06Speaker 1: a dude. Could you have ever imagine saying that out loud? No,
- 12:09Speaker 1: But he's forty one now, so it makes sense. It
- 12:12Speaker 1: was just does Lebron know he's forty one? And I
- 12:15Speaker 1: feel like as a third option Kevi. I don't know
- 12:16Speaker 1: if you've been watching a Laker games, like, he hustles,
- 12:19Speaker 1: he dives, he's I feel like he is able to
- 12:23Speaker 1: keep some of his energy and then use it in spurs.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Yeah when he needs to, yep. And he still looks
- 12:28Speaker 1: like he's twenty five times yep.
- 12:30Speaker 3: I know.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So the Lakers are good. I think they may be
- 12:34Speaker 1: the three in the West. You may have to look
- 12:36Speaker 1: this up. I'm just gonna for Rememory. They're probably three
- 12:38Speaker 1: in the West right now, Oklahoma Spurs, Lakers, thunder Spurs,
- 12:41Speaker 1: probably Lakers. I'll need a check on that, but Luca won,
- 12:46Speaker 1: Austin Reeves two and Lebron as a third option. The
- 12:48Speaker 1: Lakers are not pretty good.
- 12:49Speaker 3: What do you say?
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Lakers at three. So that is one of my
- 12:53Speaker 1: NBA headlines. Again, this is gonna be super casual. We
- 12:55Speaker 1: can talk Thunder Spurs. It's another one of mine. Thunders
- 12:58Speaker 1: only have two games.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I know, creeping up. The Spurs are creeping.
- 13:02Speaker 1: The Spurs are creeping. They're really good obviously, women you know,
- 13:06Speaker 1: is freaking awesome. But they've got so much good young
- 13:09Speaker 1: talent around him as well. It's not just that the Thunder.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Jalen Williams missed forty five games this year, so I
- 13:17Speaker 1: think like hamstring twice. There's another injury that kept him
- 13:22Speaker 1: out at the beginning, but he's been out. Hartenstein's missed
- 13:25Speaker 1: twenty games for the Thunder. Like Jared mccainn coming over
- 13:29Speaker 1: from Philadelphia was like the greatest trade for the Thunder
- 13:34Speaker 1: to be able to pull off, especially with all the injuries.
- 13:38Speaker 1: A Jan Mitchell's been awesome. So the Thunder two games up.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Spurs only two backs, but the Thunder have been really
- 13:44Speaker 1: playing hurt, but they are so deep. The Thunder are
- 13:46Speaker 1: so deep. Their second five I think could be five
- 13:51Speaker 1: hundred better than a lot of the team that are
- 13:54Speaker 1: the bottle right, Like Kason Wallace has been playing really great,
- 13:57Speaker 1: So I think they're second five because Kateseon Wallace was
- 13:59Speaker 1: probably a second guy for them, but he's been playing
- 14:01Speaker 1: so much because of all the injuries, especially Jayalen Williams,
- 14:05Speaker 1: but even my Jalen Williams, the guy from Rkcarcos, it's
- 14:08Speaker 1: been playing his brains out.
- 14:09Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 14:10Speaker 1: That's the first ever nil deal I did with Jalen Williams.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's pretty cool.
- 14:14Speaker 7: That's cool to say, Yeah, I paid I paid him
- 14:18Speaker 7: to promote like eight thousand dollars to promote breaking Bobby
- 14:22Speaker 7: bones and a couple of other things.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Like on social videos. Yeah, that's cool.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And then not only that, I haven't talked to h
- 14:28Speaker 1: in a while. I mean it's been a year, but
- 14:30Speaker 1: when he first got in the league, he he would
- 14:32Speaker 1: call and be like, Hey, what am I supposed to do?
- 14:34Speaker 1: Like with money, I don't want to lose it all
- 14:36Speaker 1: because him and I would talk a little bit because
- 14:38Speaker 1: he grew up somewhat like I did. I think his
- 14:41Speaker 1: mom remarried later. I could be wrong about this, but
- 14:44Speaker 1: but he's like, I don't want to lose all this money.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So we were talking, I'd be like, dude, he's like,
- 14:47Speaker 1: what can I invest in? I was like, I don't
- 14:48Speaker 1: know anything about stocks, but I've never lost money and property.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And it would be like, I know you want some
- 14:55Speaker 1: of the cool stuff like chains and necklaces and shoes
- 14:58Speaker 1: minu shoes, like a little because you don't want to
- 15:01Speaker 1: go without. Because if we want to feel like you've
- 15:03Speaker 1: made it, I said, but just don't get caught up
- 15:04Speaker 1: until you get your second deal. Now, I haven't talked
- 15:06Speaker 1: to him since those early on conversations, but that's kind
- 15:09Speaker 1: of cool.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Huh, that's really cool.
- 15:11Speaker 1: And then when you give him advice or you're like, oh,
- 15:13Speaker 1: what if it doesn't work out?
- 15:16Speaker 4: When fantasy advice before I give you advice, just no,
- 15:20Speaker 4: but it doesn't work, it's not my fault.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I would say that, like, I am no expert, but
- 15:23Speaker 1: I can tell you what's worked for me as somebody
- 15:25Speaker 1: who did not grow up with money and did not
- 15:26Speaker 1: have anybody advising me, like I had to learn the
- 15:28Speaker 1: hard way. And even the properties that I bought, I
- 15:31Speaker 1: just would buy houses and be so scared to have
- 15:34Speaker 1: a mortgage early on. I wouldn't buy it until I
- 15:36Speaker 1: can afford the whole thing. So I would just.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Buy in cash and the cash.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and so I've done that every since, Like I've
- 15:42Speaker 1: never had to work at all. I don't buy anything
- 15:44Speaker 1: unless I can afford it, and now it's easier. But
- 15:47Speaker 1: then I would sell them. I'd sell them and I
- 15:49Speaker 1: would just crush. I wish I could do that.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I know.
- 15:53Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Different situation for us, Yeah, just a little bit. Yeah,
- 15:58Speaker 2: that's good for you.

- 17:14Speaker 1: This is dude. I'm sure, I'm sure he's killing it now.
- 17:17Speaker 3: No I know.
- 17:17Speaker 2: But even the fact that money was a concern then,
- 17:19Speaker 2: like a lot of people don't even think about like
- 17:22Speaker 2: I just made money, We're gonna spend it.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I think he was making like a million and a
- 17:25Speaker 1: half a year. He was early second round pick. It
- 17:28Speaker 1: wasn't a ton of money in a rookie deal, and
- 17:31Speaker 1: he was just like, I don't want to end up
- 17:32Speaker 1: like other stories I've seen or heard. Yeah, but look
- 17:36Speaker 1: I haven't. I don't want this to be taken the
- 17:38Speaker 1: wrong way. I didn't save his financial life. We would
- 17:42Speaker 1: just have those talks because he knew I didn't come
- 17:44Speaker 1: from money, and then nobody really helped me with money
- 17:46Speaker 1: until way later on.
- 17:48Speaker 4: And so he would you would you recommend, like, if
- 17:50Speaker 4: somebody has that much money, are you like I would
- 17:52Speaker 4: get a business manager or a financial advisor or something
- 17:55Speaker 4: like that.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Uh, I think, yeah, well, business manager for me. I
- 17:59Speaker 1: had to get one whenever, right to start paying a
- 18:00Speaker 1: lot of people. That's when I needed one because I'm paying.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Everybody.
- 18:07Speaker 1: We were touring a bunch, was paying everybody. I'm paying
- 18:10Speaker 1: percentages to agents, I'm paying percentages to managers. I'm paying percentages.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So I had all these percentages and then checks I
- 18:16Speaker 1: was having to write. All the other stuff was good,
- 18:20Speaker 1: meaning I don't get any bills in my house or anything.
- 18:22Speaker 1: They paid it all. They take care of everything. It's fine,
- 18:24Speaker 1: but you have to pay them.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I get it and you don't have to worry about But.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Still you're paying them money to take care of your money,
- 18:29Speaker 1: and they're not making you more money. It's not like
- 18:32Speaker 1: a financial advisor that gets a percentage of what they're
- 18:34Speaker 1: making you.
- 18:35Speaker 2: You worry about ever, worry about getting Billy joeld or
- 18:40Speaker 2: who's the comedian Dan cooked? Dank Cooked?
- 18:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, I think. And I've had the same
- 18:46Speaker 1: business manager and we're close for eleven years.
- 18:52Speaker 3: Wow.
- 18:54Speaker 1: And there's times I call and I'm like, Hey, can
- 18:55Speaker 1: I afford this?
- 18:56Speaker 7: Hey?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Can I get this?
- 18:56Speaker 3: Hey?
- 18:57Speaker 1: Can I You know, that's the kind of the conversation
- 18:58Speaker 1: you have then every few months to do a whole
- 19:01Speaker 1: you know, talk about everything. I checked all my accounts
- 19:04Speaker 1: three times a day. Oh nice, because I'm so scared
- 19:07Speaker 1: of being Dane cooked that I'm overspending. Like I still
- 19:10Speaker 1: have that mentality. Yeah, No, I don't worry about that yet.
- 19:15Speaker 2: We don't worry about because you check it three times.
- 19:16Speaker 1: I check it all the time.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Dane Cook or Billy Joel didn't check it once.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And there's a portal, and so the portal logs into
- 19:23Speaker 1: all it's like one page, like a medical portal. It's
- 19:25Speaker 1: like all your accounts and everything.
- 19:27Speaker 2: You know what I need. I need someone to come
- 19:30Speaker 2: in and tell my wife how much she's spending on
- 19:31Speaker 2: certain things. I don't want to do that.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Well, that's just a you issue.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Can I pay someone to do that? Can you just
- 19:41Speaker 2: do the work and I can tell her we'll talk later.
- 19:44Speaker 1: The third deal is Celtics.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I was waiting for that one. So they were already good. Yeah,
- 19:50Speaker 1: they were already really good and the East is a
- 19:52Speaker 1: little weaker than the West, but they were already really good.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Celtics Pistons probably who's going to be Eastern Conference Finals,
- 20:02Speaker 1: But just trying to find out with Tatum, like where
- 20:05Speaker 1: he fits now because Jayla Brown was killing it. Yeah,
- 20:07Speaker 1: MVP discussions. Yeah, yeah, so they just be Thunder by
- 20:10Speaker 1: the way, mm hmmm, it wasn't Boston. That's a big
- 20:14Speaker 1: win for them, huge win and they put up seventy
- 20:16Speaker 1: in the second half. Yeah, so Tatum finding his way
- 20:19Speaker 1: with the Celtics.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I was watching.
- 20:20Speaker 1: I don't watch a lot of Celtics. I don't watch
- 20:21Speaker 1: a lot of any specific team. The Thunder. Caitlin watches
- 20:23Speaker 1: a lot, but I forget what game was about a
- 20:27Speaker 1: week ago and they were Tatum and Jayalen Brown were
- 20:29Speaker 1: just going back each week. They were just io on
- 20:31Speaker 1: taking turns. Yeah, which is the basketball that I don't like.
- 20:34Speaker 4: To see with them though sometimes because then it's just
- 20:36Speaker 4: like it gets still made it a little bit.
- 20:37Speaker 1: But yeah, it's uh. I can't believe they're at second
- 20:40Speaker 1: in the East honestly away season sure yeah earlier Troit, Yeah,
- 20:45Speaker 1: oh everyone did I think it was. They were questioning, hey,
- 20:47Speaker 1: should we tank? Yeah, and then they just kept winning
- 20:50Speaker 1: and it's yeah, and they're fun to watch. They got
- 20:52Speaker 1: some young guys. Your boy Jordan Walsh, Arkansas kid. He's
- 20:56Speaker 1: played not so much lately because Tatum's back, but he's
- 20:58Speaker 1: had a good year.
- 20:59Speaker 4: He was able to show enough that he has a
- 21:02Speaker 4: roster spot for sure. Yeah, he's still on the roster,
- 21:04Speaker 4: still hanging out, he's on the G league or anything.
- 21:06Speaker 2: So him, him and Jim played together. They're in the
- 21:08Speaker 2: same same team.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, the three rookies were him, Anthony Black, and Adams
- 21:16Speaker 1: Nick Nick Nick Smith, Nick Smith, Nick Smith Jr.
- 21:21Speaker 3: YEA.
- 21:23Speaker 1: The Lakers now know Anthony Black was with He's doing
- 21:28Speaker 1: really good. So yeah, there you go. That's that's according
- 21:31Speaker 1: to a casual you're still watching a lot like with
- 21:35Speaker 1: with the League, stays on a Sunday ticket. Yeah, stays on. Uh.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Daddy wants to congratulate our podcast for having power.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Because we have major power on this podcast. I don't
- 21:48Speaker 2: know what it is.
- 21:49Speaker 3: I mean.
- 21:49Speaker 2: First off, well, I mean we'll go back to Clemson,
- 21:52Speaker 2: you know, with the the whole once you put a
- 21:55Speaker 2: hex a curse, a curse on Dabbo and like that's
- 21:59Speaker 2: power right there. Obviously they can't do anything as a
- 22:01Speaker 2: football team ever since Bobby put that that curse on him?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Who else you all of a sudden became a Panthers fan.
- 22:08Speaker 2: They had a really good team this year, made playoffs,
- 22:10Speaker 2: made the playoffs. That's power. Now who do we have
- 22:13Speaker 2: on the podcast? NASCAR driver Tyler Reddick?
- 22:17Speaker 1: Did he win again?
- 22:18Speaker 2: Tyler Reddick has won three times since we've had him
- 22:21Speaker 2: on our podcast.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Is he on Michael Jordan's team?
- 22:23Speaker 3: He is?
- 22:24Speaker 1: I saw Darius buy into a team or own really? Yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 1: maybe somebody needs to look that up. I don't follow NASCAR.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Meaning you and then we can all just be there.
- 22:34Speaker 1: I saw that Charlomagne, my friend in New York, has
- 22:36Speaker 1: sponsored a car and he was at the race. We
- 22:39Speaker 1: did it have his name on the his podcast network?
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's really cool.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he's an investor in Legacy Motor Club. Sorry, Darius Rutger. Wow,
- 22:48Speaker 1: what's Legacy Motor Club? They have any good drivers? I
- 22:50Speaker 1: know they have an old Penske or Dick Trickle Penske.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Is that's a company, right, that's a motor group.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Oh, it's it's him and Jimmy Johnson.
- 22:59Speaker 3: They on the team.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Who Jimmy Johnson, the Cowboys, Jimmy Johnson the race card?
- 23:04Speaker 3: Got it?
- 23:06Speaker 1: Eric Jones? It's not sure that Eric with a K?
- 23:09Speaker 3: Right? Yep?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Well look at you.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I watch John Hunter, nimachik oh Classic On.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Is that.
- 23:21Speaker 5: Newer?
- 23:22Speaker 1: I think they're fairly new. Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Tyler Redding's killing it. I mean it's crazy. There was
- 23:26Speaker 2: one race I saw where he got penalized and he
- 23:29Speaker 2: had to start in the very back and he's still
- 23:30Speaker 2: on the race. How does that happen?
- 23:33Speaker 1: Speaking of Michael Jordan and also kind of like this helmet,
- 23:36Speaker 1: except I didn't do this to mess it up. Have
- 23:38Speaker 1: a pair of Jordan's signed like Jordan tennis shoes and
- 23:41Speaker 1: so I bought them two years ago. And it's a
- 23:45Speaker 1: blue marker on a blue shoe.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Sucks.
- 23:50Speaker 2: You can barely see it.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You can see it if you look. I didn't do
- 23:52Speaker 1: anything wrong. I didn't leave in the sun. I'll put
- 23:54Speaker 1: them in a case.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Of course you wouldn't do that.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's there. It's at Carolina blue like the front
- 24:00Speaker 1: of the shoe. And I don't know why they would
- 24:02Speaker 1: have him signed in a blue marker.
- 24:03Speaker 2: That's pretty dumb.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So I have those, and I walked by them and
- 24:06Speaker 1: they're cool. And it's Jordan that signed them. Yeah, he
- 24:08Speaker 1: signed both shoes.
- 24:09Speaker 2: And you want to get rid of it, I'm not
- 24:11Speaker 2: giving you those, okay.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I'm a big Jordan's love Michael Jordan's speaking of that
- 24:16Speaker 1: helmet which I messed up by leaving in the sun.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Is I have a pair of Jordan's signed Jordan's shoes.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I may just bring them up here and put them
- 24:24Speaker 1: one of the shelves on the bobbycast.
- 24:25Speaker 2: That's cool.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and then just zoom in to see if you
- 24:27Speaker 4: can see they can be a conversation piece.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Yeah, what is that? That's Jordan's shoe.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I have a pair of the Pizza Hut shoes over there.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Oh yeah, those are cool, the pie tops.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, did you ever use that because you could. You
- 24:39Speaker 2: could program it too, where you hit the button orders
- 24:41Speaker 2: the pizza.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, no I never did. I got it for
- 24:43Speaker 1: my birthday a long time ago. They sell. They're really
- 24:45Speaker 1: a hot item. They called pie tops like high tops
- 24:48Speaker 1: because there are high tops and they were made by
- 24:51Speaker 1: the Surgeon, the guy that makes all the cool shoes. Yes,
- 24:53Speaker 1: the surgeon.
- 24:54Speaker 2: They call them the surgeon.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, because he like takes some shoes Apart makes.
- 24:58Speaker 2: And he works who's he worked for Nike?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Isn't himself?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Oh he has his own his own entity.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I follow on Instagram. That's awesome. Yeah, so those
- 25:06Speaker 1: are super cool.
- 25:08Speaker 2: I remember Bobby let me. He led me into the
- 25:10Speaker 2: closet and he's like, hey man, just pick a few
- 25:12Speaker 2: pairs or whatever. And I picked the pizza. He's like,
- 25:15Speaker 2: not those.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You can have whatever shoes you want because I haven't
- 25:18Speaker 1: had a bunch of shoes. Eddie goes right into the
- 25:20Speaker 1: pizza that.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Was not not those.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Put those.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Let's see you got some good ones.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Yeah, like people like those all the shoes. Oh yeah,
- 25:32Speaker 2: I get a lot of commiments on that.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Let's see, pietops. M stock Ack is not letting me
- 25:38Speaker 1: get in here. Mm hmmm, uhs to three grand.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Three grand for.
- 25:49Speaker 1: This specific They have different kinds, but they only made
- 25:51Speaker 1: a limited amount and these were a birthday gift and
- 25:54Speaker 1: they found some elevens. I think they only had like
- 25:56Speaker 1: fifty pair.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember when they came out.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I want to test it with THEE to order.
- 26:00Speaker 3: You have to.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I don't even know how it works.
- 26:02Speaker 1: You put an app on your phone and then it's
- 26:05Speaker 1: like through Bluetooth. Yes, it's connected to the phone, so
- 26:09Speaker 1: you push it in the app orders of the pizza to
- 26:10Speaker 1: wherever you are. It's location device.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Gosh, I'm so hungry. You reach down hit the button.
- 26:14Speaker 3: They called your.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Shoes marineras splash by the way.
- 26:17Speaker 2: They do the color. That's probably the color cool because
- 26:21Speaker 2: they are red, right, they're red.
- 26:22Speaker 1: They're called I'd never known that marinera splash. Yeah, twenty two.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Oh that's tops. Uh so yeah, those you cannot have.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Those aren't signed. But I can put the shoes. I
- 26:35Speaker 1: got different sets of shoes that can put up there.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I guess I got a shelf in the Bobbycast studio
- 26:39Speaker 1: that's not done yet. I do have that really cool bat.
- 26:42Speaker 1: I don't want to make it all sports because it's
- 26:43Speaker 1: the music show. For the most part of the Goldie Bat,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I do have, Yeah, the Paul Golschmant Bat. That's really
- 26:47Speaker 1: oh yeah, and you give them the microph I gave
- 26:49Speaker 1: him a signed microphone.
- 26:50Speaker 2: All those I have really cool stories.
- 26:52Speaker 3: Dude.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Every time I see him now on TV, I'm like
- 26:54Speaker 1: that guy.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Oh we hung out with them.
- 26:56Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, he's like here, just listen to you guys
- 26:58Speaker 1: at Texas State.
- 26:59Speaker 3: You know. Yeah?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Cool. Now Tom Brady maybe coming back to the NFL.
- 27:06Speaker 1: He's getting on my nerves again. Man, it's kind of kidding.
- 27:08Speaker 1: I mean, what is the point of this. So ESPN
- 27:11Speaker 1: has a story. Tom Brady says he explored the possibility
- 27:13Speaker 1: of coming out of retirement and returning to the NFL,
- 27:16Speaker 1: adding that the league did not like that idea very much.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Is it annoying he keeps talking about it?
- 27:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's annoying that. It's just like he doesn't just
- 27:23Speaker 4: say no, He's just like, no, I'm good. Like I've
- 27:25Speaker 4: never really thought about it. Even if that conversation did
- 27:27Speaker 4: happen at some point, It's like, why do you got
- 27:29Speaker 4: to tell everyone about it? It's just an attention grabbery.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Can he even do that? As an owner.
- 27:35Speaker 1: Well, that's where the whole thing. He would have to
- 27:37Speaker 1: not be an owner anymore.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah, can't be an owner.
- 27:39Speaker 1: I believe that's the rule, right, Like you'd have to
- 27:41Speaker 1: not be an owner. You can be a coach. You
- 27:43Speaker 1: can be a player coach, you can yeah, I just
- 27:46Speaker 1: having all the time in the sixteen seventies.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Wow, he'd be a player coach.
- 27:50Speaker 4: He would need to divest his ownership stake in the Raiders. Uh,
- 27:56Speaker 4: and there would be salary, CuPy. It just sounds like
- 27:58Speaker 4: he just wants to be in the new again, which
- 28:00Speaker 4: he's always in the news now.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Is he's just getting bored purposefully perfect? I mean, you
- 28:04Speaker 1: don't play in that Fanatics game, right, and I think
- 28:08Speaker 1: he only played like three or four plays. But also
- 28:10Speaker 1: he you.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Know, no ball.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, that's becoming more like they're they're trying harder to
- 28:17Speaker 1: make that a brand. So there, I guess there are
- 28:20Speaker 1: reasons that he's his pr team is at work.
- 28:23Speaker 2: There's the memorabilia shop that we walked by in Boston.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and he got a feud throughout the country.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Wait does he have it or does he all his stuff?
- 28:32Speaker 2: You know he owns it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Also he sells stuff that's not him.
- 28:34Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, he's open I think three at this point.
- 28:38Speaker 4: That San Frano one opened up, like right before we
- 28:40Speaker 4: went there.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, when we walked by, there was no it was closed.
- 28:43Speaker 2: It was later late, late at night, but there was
- 28:45Speaker 2: one security guard just sitting in the middle. Because it's
- 28:47Speaker 2: all glass, you can see in it, and there's memorabilia, cards,
- 28:49Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff, and just one security guard just
- 28:51Speaker 2: standing there, sitting there.
- 28:52Speaker 1: It's called card vault. Is he owning it or is
- 28:56Speaker 1: he like got partners needs to giving him his name
- 28:58Speaker 1: and for his part, it doesn't do that. It doesn't matter.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Usually people goes all the openings and cuts the ribbon
- 29:02Speaker 4: and all that. So I don't know if that means anything,
- 29:04Speaker 4: but his name's on it. And sometimes that's their investment.
- 29:09Speaker 2: That the name's on it.
- 29:10Speaker 1: It's like these artists that have bars in Nashville. They
- 29:12Speaker 1: don't own the bars, most of them. There's a couple
- 29:14Speaker 1: to do, but they just lease their name. Yeah, and
- 29:16Speaker 1: they making they make an agreement to go three times
- 29:19Speaker 1: a year to do this. Many posts about it, and
- 29:21Speaker 1: so it's Luke Bryan or Jason Auden's bar, but they
- 29:24Speaker 1: don't own the bar they're just leasing, or a steakhouse
- 29:26Speaker 1: like Vince young steakhouse in Texas. Do you remember that
- 29:29Speaker 1: Vince Young didn't own the steakhouse, but he kind of
- 29:31Speaker 1: gives them the rights to his name.
- 29:32Speaker 2: So when Morgan Wallen was calling Eric Church after he
- 29:36Speaker 2: was getting arrested at the bar, like, I don't know
- 29:38Speaker 2: the wrong dude to call.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Well, I don't know. I don't know if Chief owns,
- 29:43Speaker 1: Chiefs that what's Chief?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Like, dude, why are you calling me? I don't know
- 29:45Speaker 2: that place.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know Chief.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Ohone, Chiefs he owns fifty percent by the way, Tom
- 29:50Speaker 4: Brady he does, Yeah, he has fifty state.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So we've waited and we're gonna talk to Jeff Goodman
- 29:56Speaker 1: just second. As far as basketball goes, talking about the
- 29:58Speaker 1: coaching situations in North Carolina and Kansas at Kentucky. We're
- 30:04Speaker 1: not being super timely with the games because you may

- 31:55Speaker 1: All right, now, let's get over to our talk with
- 31:56Speaker 1: college basketball analyst and reporter Jeff Goodman. I'm a big
- 32:00Speaker 1: He's been covering basketball for a long time, super plugged
- 32:02Speaker 1: in when it comes to coaching vacancy, So we talk
- 32:05Speaker 1: about that North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky. Not that they're all vacant,
- 32:08Speaker 1: but those jobs specifically. He's worked at Fox, Sports, CBS, Sports, ESPN,
- 32:12Speaker 1: now has his own media network called The Field of
- 32:14Speaker 1: sixty eight, which you can watch on YouTube. Big thanks
- 32:16Speaker 1: to Jeff for coming on here. He is Jeff Goodman,
- 32:19Speaker 1: I'm a big Jeff Goodman fan. You guys can follow
- 32:21Speaker 1: him on Instagram. Goodman hoops. I had a lot of questions.
- 32:24Speaker 1: You're the guy I wanted to talk to mostly. I
- 32:26Speaker 1: know you're in DC for the games happening this weekend,
- 32:29Speaker 1: But before we do that, I just want to talk
- 32:30Speaker 1: about the coaching searches and then the possible coaching opportunities.
- 32:35Speaker 1: So let's go to North Carolina first. What do you
- 32:37Speaker 1: think is happening now there?
- 32:39Speaker 5: I mean, they're going outside the family. We know that
- 32:41Speaker 5: there's nobody left good enough Bobby to go in the family,
- 32:45Speaker 5: you know. So Jerry stackows he failed at Vanderbilt, hurt
- 32:49Speaker 5: stephen A Smith talking about Kenny Smith.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Come on, like, what are we doing here?
- 32:54Speaker 5: They're going to go for big names that are proven,
- 32:56Speaker 5: you know, and it'll start with guys like Billy Donovan
- 33:00Speaker 5: trying to gauge his interest right now is with the Bulls,
- 33:02Speaker 5: and you know they're not good every year, but he's loyal.
- 33:07Speaker 5: So we'll see if Billy Donovan has real interest in
- 33:09Speaker 5: leaving going back to college. Remember, obviously he won the
- 33:12Speaker 5: back to back titles of Florida. Ton of people close
- 33:15Speaker 5: to him are all imploring him get out of Chicago,
- 33:18Speaker 5: go somewhere you can win again, and Carolina's a perfect
- 33:21Speaker 5: place and it kind of fits Billy. Number two would
- 33:24Speaker 5: be Dusty May at Michigan done an incredible job.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Obviously, came from FAU final four.
- 33:30Speaker 5: There, has a chance to go to a final four
- 33:32Speaker 5: maybe when the whole thing this year at Michigan. But
- 33:34Speaker 5: he's got a really good job at Michigan. The key
- 33:37Speaker 5: is will Michigan step up like they flew like commercial
- 33:42Speaker 5: back from Vegas earlier this year two flights back. I
- 33:45Speaker 5: was there for a tournament and they literally flew commercial.
- 33:48Speaker 5: So Michigan's got to probably step up to keep Dustey May.
- 33:52Speaker 5: Tommy Lloyd at Arizona has done a great job.
- 33:56Speaker 3: He's in the mix as well.
- 33:57Speaker 5: And then TJ Alzenberger from Iowa State is an another
- 34:00Speaker 5: one who's high top their list. But yesterday he kind
- 34:04Speaker 5: of came out, he didn't really say no, and then
- 34:07Speaker 5: his ad came out and said put a tweet out
- 34:10Speaker 5: saying like we're happy TJ is going to.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Be here long term.
- 34:15Speaker 5: So that one, like, I'm not sure where that stands
- 34:18Speaker 5: right now, but I don't think it gets beyond TJ
- 34:20Speaker 5: Alzenburger or Mark Byington at Vanderbilt, I think they shoot
- 34:24Speaker 5: for the stars one of those top three guys I mentioned,
- 34:27Speaker 5: and then you've got TJ. Alzenburger or Vanity's Mark Byington
- 34:30Speaker 5: there that I think one of those guys would take
- 34:32Speaker 5: it for sure.
- 34:33Speaker 1: The Billy Donovan things interesting because the Bulls aren't investing
- 34:36Speaker 1: in winning, and they haven't for a while. But the
- 34:39Speaker 1: NBA lifestyle, like it is luxury. You're flying luxury, Your
- 34:42Speaker 1: hotel's are luxury. You're not dealing with parents that are
- 34:45Speaker 1: irritated that their kids aren't getting playing like even losing
- 34:49Speaker 1: in the NBA life, that's a different life in college life.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I don't know personally. Do you feel Billy Donovan would
- 34:54Speaker 1: listen to take that North Carolina job?
- 34:57Speaker 5: I think again, so many people around him are telling
- 34:59Speaker 5: him him, you can't finish your career losing. You can
- 35:04Speaker 5: change you know, your legacy and look at what it
- 35:07Speaker 5: was in college. Go back there and dominate college basketball again.
- 35:11Speaker 5: It's changed, we know that, right, most of it not.
- 35:14Speaker 3: For the better.
- 35:16Speaker 5: In terms of dealing with, like you said, parents who
- 35:19Speaker 5: have leverage and it's all about money agents all that.
- 35:22Speaker 5: The one thing I'll say is like, all right, you're
- 35:24Speaker 5: paying these kids a lot of money, right three four
- 35:26Speaker 5: million dollars price is probably gonna go up this year.
- 35:30Speaker 5: He's dealt with having a coach kids making a lot
- 35:33Speaker 5: of money, right Like, He's got this kid, Modus buzzellis
- 35:36Speaker 5: who was drafted high a couple of years ago, straight
- 35:39Speaker 5: out of high school, basically you know, out of the
- 35:41Speaker 5: G League, Ignite or whatever it was. And he's dealt
- 35:45Speaker 5: with having a coach kids that have made a lot
- 35:48Speaker 5: of money. So I don't think that'll be an adjustment
- 35:50Speaker 5: for him. The adjustment will be, you know, getting a
- 35:53Speaker 5: staff that can figure out this this nil concept right
- 35:57Speaker 5: now and get guys that kind of know, you know,
- 36:01Speaker 5: how to how to deal with all this, how to
- 36:04Speaker 5: manage it, how to not overpay like Kentucky did this
- 36:07Speaker 5: past year for their roster, things of that nature.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Is there any chance this ends up almost like a
- 36:11Speaker 1: Penn State football where listen, they got lucky at the
- 36:14Speaker 1: very end, but they they're like, we're Penn State, We're
- 36:17Speaker 1: gonna get and then there was nobody to get and
- 36:19Speaker 1: so at the end there was luckily Iowa State had
- 36:22Speaker 1: the guy for them. Is there any chance this happens
- 36:24Speaker 1: with North Carolina where they think they can grab a
- 36:26Speaker 1: big name, and like you said, there's nobody in the
- 36:28Speaker 1: family and there's only a few names that would even
- 36:31Speaker 1: we would even consider to be worthy of that job.
- 36:33Speaker 3: I think they get a big name.
- 36:34Speaker 5: Again, it depends what your version of a big name is, right,
- 36:37Speaker 5: like Mark Byrington and Vandy probably not a big name
- 36:40Speaker 5: to you.
- 36:41Speaker 3: TJ. Alzenberger at Iowa.
- 36:43Speaker 5: State, he's gotten a three, you know, three sweet sixteens
- 36:46Speaker 5: in the last five years.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Not a huge name.
- 36:48Speaker 5: Then the big names are the ones I mentioned right,
- 36:50Speaker 5: Billy Donovan, Dusty May, Tommy Lloyd. Those are the ones
- 36:55Speaker 5: I don't think like Todd Golden is in the equation
- 36:58Speaker 5: here now if.
- 36:58Speaker 3: They got desperate.
- 37:00Speaker 5: But he's got a huge buyout, huge buyout for college
- 37:03Speaker 5: low bio to go to the NBA, but huge biout
- 37:05Speaker 5: for College NATO it's at Alabama. You know, I think
- 37:08Speaker 5: he might take it. But again he doesn't fit. You know,
- 37:11Speaker 5: Carolina wants like a prim and proper type coach. They
- 37:14Speaker 5: don't want to do that's rough around the edges, and
- 37:17Speaker 5: both nato It's and Todd Golden are they're rough around
- 37:20Speaker 5: the Edges.
- 37:21Speaker 1: Hey speaking of Golden and Donovan before I get to Kansas,
- 37:24Speaker 1: because I want to talk about that in a second.
- 37:26Speaker 1: But with Donovo went he two at Florida and Golden
- 37:28Speaker 1: having the one seed this year with Florida, like and
- 37:30Speaker 1: he lives in Billy Donovan's shadow even after he won
- 37:33Speaker 1: a national championship, And that's really weird and rare to
- 37:35Speaker 1: say after you win a title and you're still living
- 37:37Speaker 1: in the shadow of another coach like this loss, especially
- 37:41Speaker 1: so early, had to hurt for him.
- 37:42Speaker 5: Right, yeah, because I think he felt like his his
- 37:45Speaker 5: backcourt was not good.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Early in the season.
- 37:47Speaker 5: He returned his whole front court from last year's title team,
- 37:50Speaker 5: so the guards had started to play better, and then
- 37:54Speaker 5: all of a sudden again they had the loss in
- 37:56Speaker 5: the SEC tournament. I was there when they got absolutely
- 37:59Speaker 5: blitzed by Vanderbilt and then lose into an Iowa Iowa
- 38:03Speaker 5: team that honestly they got one high level player and
- 38:05Speaker 5: Bennett starts he'll be a first round pick.
- 38:07Speaker 3: He didn't even play well.
- 38:08Speaker 5: He was over for nine from three and I would
- 38:10Speaker 5: just control the pace, frustrated him and with a much
- 38:14Speaker 5: smaller front court, I think they tied him on the glass,
- 38:18Speaker 5: Like it was shocking, one of the more shocking upsets
- 38:21Speaker 5: I've seen in the tournament. So yeah, I mean again,
- 38:26Speaker 5: you're playing with house money a little bit because you
- 38:28Speaker 5: won the title last year. But yeah, Todd Golden certainly
- 38:32Speaker 5: expected to go further with this group, with how they
- 38:35Speaker 5: had played the last two months of the year.
- 38:37Speaker 1: All right, let's go to Kansas and self and you know, again,
- 38:40Speaker 1: I haven't seen anything yet this morning, but his statement
- 38:43Speaker 1: was kind of, hey, we're still moving forward, but it's
- 38:45Speaker 1: still like evaluating his health. Like, what do you think
- 38:47Speaker 1: happens to Kansas.
- 38:48Speaker 5: I think he retires. I do, and it's sad to
- 38:51Speaker 5: me because I think it's health. It's clearly health.
- 38:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 5: I talked to Bill yesterday and he said, like, I
- 38:57Speaker 5: still love it, I still.
- 38:59Speaker 3: Want to coach, but ultimately, you.
- 39:01Speaker 5: Know, he's had numerous heart issues sixty three years old,
- 39:05Speaker 5: Like at some point you say to yourself is it
- 39:08Speaker 5: worth it? And your wife and your kids, and he's
- 39:11Speaker 5: got a grandkid. Now you know, there's more things. You're
- 39:15Speaker 5: not forty three, you're sixty three. You're probably gonna retire
- 39:18Speaker 5: in the next couple of years. Anyway, this isn't the
- 39:20Speaker 5: way you wanted to go out if you go out
- 39:21Speaker 5: this way, especially with having Darren Peterson this year, and
- 39:26Speaker 5: I don't know how much.
- 39:27Speaker 3: You follow that circus.
- 39:28Speaker 5: You know, he came in as the number one pick,
- 39:30Speaker 5: and you know was playing, was cramping up, was hammy,
- 39:35Speaker 5: was all this type of thing. He just didn't play
- 39:37Speaker 5: to his potential. So I don't think Bill wants to
- 39:41Speaker 5: go out this way. But I think ultimately you got
- 39:43Speaker 5: to listen to your doctors, and I think the doctors
- 39:47Speaker 5: basically will tell him and have told Bill listen probably
- 39:51Speaker 5: isn't the smartest move.
- 39:52Speaker 1: I followed the Peter's things very closely, and do you
- 39:55Speaker 1: think that what do you think teams learned from that
- 39:59Speaker 1: this season?
- 40:00Speaker 5: I think they questioned his competitiveness now talking to NBA GMS,
- 40:04Speaker 5: that is what they questioned.
- 40:06Speaker 3: And I never would have questioned this. Couple of years ago.
- 40:08Speaker 5: I remember seeing him on the AE circuit and saying,
- 40:11Speaker 5: I think he's the best player in the country, and
- 40:12Speaker 5: at that point it was Aj Debonsa. He was a
- 40:15Speaker 5: clear number one player in the country, and I never
- 40:17Speaker 5: would have envisioned this out of Peterson. I thought he
- 40:19Speaker 5: was a killer as a player and all these issues,
- 40:23Speaker 5: and I think it became you know, it was something
- 40:26Speaker 5: where there was a full you know, full body cramps
- 40:28Speaker 5: in the preseason, and I think that absolutely affected him
- 40:33Speaker 5: mentally going forward and he couldn't work through it. And
- 40:36Speaker 5: I'm sure his dad I was supposed to sit down
- 40:39Speaker 5: with him, you know, middle towards the end of the
- 40:41Speaker 5: season in ames Iowa. And my take was like, let
- 40:46Speaker 5: him tell his story, let him tell his story of
- 40:49Speaker 5: what's gone on with him this year. And they pulled
- 40:51Speaker 5: it at the last minute, and I'm like, just tell
- 40:53Speaker 5: it with anybody. You don't have to tell it with me.
- 40:55Speaker 5: I don't care. Like I know the kid, the kid
- 40:57Speaker 5: trusts me a little bit, but like we want to
- 41:00Speaker 5: hear like they didn't control the narrative well at all.
- 41:04Speaker 3: They didn't. They should have and they could have, but
- 41:07Speaker 3: they didn't.
- 41:08Speaker 5: So then everybody's kind of wondering, like, what's going on
- 41:10Speaker 5: with this kid?
- 41:12Speaker 1: Yeah, the same because I'm I'm a massive SEC guy,
- 41:16Speaker 1: a massive Arkansas guy, and so are you you know. Yeah,
- 41:19Speaker 1: So I'm like focusing on us at Calipari and Darius Acoff,
- 41:22Speaker 1: but I'm watching Byu, I'm watching Kansas, I'm watching Duke
- 41:25Speaker 1: like all these other early round one guys, and yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 1: the narrative was that he would check himself out of
- 41:30Speaker 1: games that he didn't really want it. Now, again, I'm
- 41:32Speaker 1: a casual Kansas guy, so I'm only seeing what's being
- 41:35Speaker 1: fed to me. But i feel like, as me, somebody
- 41:38Speaker 1: who's kind of paying attention my relationship with what his
- 41:41Speaker 1: work ethic and his competitive it wasn't good.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Correct.
- 41:45Speaker 5: And if you had seen him come out, Bobby, if
- 41:47Speaker 5: you had seen his face and he said, hey, listen,
- 41:50Speaker 5: I had this incident back in September where I had
- 41:53Speaker 5: to go to the hospital and yeah, I'm trying to
- 41:55Speaker 5: work through this thing, like I'm trying in the worst way,
- 41:58Speaker 5: and I'm worried, you know. And I'm sure, listen, I'm
- 42:01Speaker 5: sure the people close to him, you know, all these
- 42:03Speaker 5: kids of agents now, but his dad's very involved, and
- 42:06Speaker 5: I'm sure early on it was like, hey, the moment
- 42:08Speaker 5: you feel anything, we can't have you going into full
- 42:11Speaker 5: body cramps in front of the country on the court.
- 42:13Speaker 3: That will kill your draft stock.
- 42:15Speaker 5: So I'm sure they're trying to protect him early and
- 42:18Speaker 5: then he's hearing it and then he's trying to and
- 42:20Speaker 5: he did.
- 42:20Speaker 3: He played the last seven eight games. But he wasn't.
- 42:23Speaker 5: That was not the player Legitimately, when I say that
- 42:26Speaker 5: was not the same player that I saw two years
- 42:29Speaker 5: ago in the AU circuit, doesn't look like the Darren
- 42:31Speaker 5: Peterson I knew.
- 42:32Speaker 1: If Self retires, is it the same list of names
- 42:36Speaker 1: or they stay in staff.
- 42:38Speaker 5: You know, they brought on Jacu Vaughan before the year
- 42:40Speaker 5: to be an assistant coach. At the point they brought
- 42:44Speaker 5: him on, I was like, he could be the guy, right,
- 42:46Speaker 5: he could be the guy.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I don't think that'll be the case.
- 42:49Speaker 5: I think they'll swing now again, if you get to
- 42:51Speaker 5: a certain point, you could go with jacqu Vaughan if
- 42:54Speaker 5: you miss on some guys.
- 42:55Speaker 3: But I think you'll have some of the same guys.
- 42:58Speaker 5: And I think you know, Tommylloyd, you know, I think
- 43:01Speaker 5: Kansas fits NATO's and Todd Golden better right. They are
- 43:05Speaker 5: rough around the edges. That's what Bill self has been
- 43:07Speaker 5: over the years. I think you can add in a
- 43:10Speaker 5: Grant McCaslin of Texas Tech, but I think it's similar.
- 43:15Speaker 3: But Golden Golden's got a big biot.
- 43:18Speaker 5: As I said, nato Its's bio goes down. It's affordable
- 43:21Speaker 5: for a place like Kansas, So I could see a
- 43:24Speaker 5: natoate's being in play at Kansas where he's not really
- 43:27Speaker 5: in play at North Carolina.
- 43:29Speaker 1: So Carolina Kansas. Now Kentucky is not changing coaches. It
- 43:32Speaker 1: was Pope's second year below expectations. For sure, they spent
- 43:36Speaker 1: a bunch of money on that roster. It was not
- 43:37Speaker 1: pieced together in a way that ended with Kentucky doing
- 43:42Speaker 1: anything this year. That being said, Pope's on the hot
- 43:45Speaker 1: seat for next season. Agree or disagree?
- 43:47Speaker 3: I agree, no, no, how can you not right?
- 43:50Speaker 5: It's year three and I know you're boy col like
- 43:54Speaker 5: he didn't do well at the end at Kentucky. So
- 43:57Speaker 5: Pope will kind of point to that and say, look
- 43:59Speaker 5: at our track record. The last couple of years, we
- 44:01Speaker 5: made the tournament. We've won a couple of tournament games.
- 44:02Speaker 5: Cal didn't do that his last four years at Kentucky.
- 44:06Speaker 5: But when you have a roster of twenty million dollars,
- 44:09Speaker 5: the number one spender in the country this year, you
- 44:13Speaker 5: got to be better than what they were. I don't
- 44:14Speaker 5: care about the injuries. You know, Jalen Low went out
- 44:17Speaker 5: the point guard. You know they got a kid, jayde
- 44:19Speaker 5: and Quainton's that they knew was coming off knee surgery.
- 44:22Speaker 5: He played like three games all year. When you've got
- 44:25Speaker 5: twenty million, listen, you got to figure it out. Yeah,
- 44:29Speaker 5: I mean you can't use that as excuse. So I
- 44:33Speaker 5: think ultimately, yes, year three is critical for Mark Pope.
- 44:37Speaker 5: And what I worry about is they didn't bring in
- 44:40Speaker 5: a general manager. And I think all these high level programs,
- 44:43Speaker 5: they should have a general manager that is literally looking
- 44:46Speaker 5: at the portal all year, like from January certainly on
- 44:51Speaker 5: probably all year, and be organized in the portal and
- 44:54Speaker 5: be watching these kids and evaluating them. I think it's
- 44:57Speaker 5: really they should have a coach that is voted one
- 45:00Speaker 5: hundred percent to the portal. Now, you could also have
- 45:02Speaker 5: a guy who does contracts, so you could put together
- 45:05Speaker 5: like a team, you know, a general manager kind of
- 45:07Speaker 5: a team, like almost a scouting team something like that.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Kentucky doesn't have that. Pope is still.
- 45:12Speaker 5: Handling that, and I think it's it's too much on
- 45:15Speaker 5: his plate. When you're trying to focus on this year's team.
- 45:19Speaker 5: You don't have time to go in and check all
- 45:21Speaker 5: the you know who talk to agents, because you've got
- 45:23Speaker 5: to be talking to agents every day. They're the ones
- 45:26Speaker 5: that are really in control of where these kids end
- 45:30Speaker 5: up right now. So I worry about year three with Pope,
- 45:33Speaker 5: to be honest, because of that.
- 45:35Speaker 1: The NBA's tanketh on right now, So we don't know
- 45:36Speaker 1: who's going to get the number one pick. That being said,
- 45:38Speaker 1: it's been the same three guys one, two or three.
- 45:41Speaker 1: But I think Darius Akob has now made people are now,
- 45:43Speaker 1: you know, squatting.
- 45:44Speaker 2: About him a little bit.
- 45:45Speaker 1: What do you think, where do you think it lands
- 45:46Speaker 1: if you were to just right now theoretically give us
- 45:49Speaker 1: a top four, top five.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Man, it is so hard, Like I think, you know again,
- 45:54Speaker 5: NBA teams are going to go digging on Darren Peterson.
- 45:56Speaker 3: They are.
- 45:57Speaker 5: They're going to dig not just the medical but it's more,
- 46:00Speaker 5: it's more this right, They're going to talk to everybody
- 46:02Speaker 5: around that kid and find out, like, all right, what
- 46:04Speaker 5: makes him tick?
- 46:05Speaker 3: What really happened there? Is it worth rolling the dice
- 46:09Speaker 3: on him?
- 46:10Speaker 5: I think aj Debons has probably taking over the number
- 46:12Speaker 5: one spot in the minds of most NBA decision makers.
- 46:16Speaker 3: So I think today he goes one.
- 46:18Speaker 5: Peterson I still think goes two, and then it really
- 46:21Speaker 5: gets And I said this earlier in the year, and
- 46:24Speaker 5: people crushed me for it.
- 46:26Speaker 3: I was like, I don't know if Camboozer is three
- 46:29Speaker 3: or even four.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Like I could see a scenario where the best player
- 46:32Speaker 5: in college basketball clearly and the most reliable player we've
- 46:36Speaker 5: seen in years in college hoops kind of slips to
- 46:39Speaker 5: five and Caleb Wilson has higher upside.
- 46:42Speaker 3: He's a freak athlete, a freak athlete.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Your boy Acuff has been as productive as any player
- 46:49Speaker 5: not named Cam Boozer all year, and he is unstoppable
- 46:53Speaker 5: getting the basket, and he shot it way better than
- 46:56Speaker 5: I thought he would, and he took care of the
- 46:57Speaker 5: ball way better than I thought he would.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Now, did he guard? No? But nobody on that team
- 47:02Speaker 3: really yeah play if you know, if you watch him
- 47:05Speaker 3: a lot, nobody guards like.
- 47:07Speaker 5: I mean that game against High Point, the end of it,
- 47:09Speaker 5: it was like AAU basketball. It was literally like I
- 47:12Speaker 5: was watching AAU basketball. But Acuff's in that. Like, I
- 47:15Speaker 5: think what Darius has done is he's moved his way
- 47:19Speaker 5: to the front of the line of that point guard crew. Right,
- 47:23Speaker 5: And you've got Kingston Flemings from Houston, a freshman, Keaton
- 47:26Speaker 5: Wogler from Illinois, a freshman, Mikel Brown, who was ahead
- 47:30Speaker 5: of him clearly going into the year from Louisville, and
- 47:33Speaker 5: he was in and out of the lineup with a
- 47:34Speaker 5: back injury all year.
- 47:36Speaker 3: I think a Cuff's top five. I'm not ready to
- 47:38Speaker 3: say he's one.
- 47:40Speaker 5: I don't see a scenario where anybody takes Darius Acuff
- 47:43Speaker 5: over A j Debonca and Darren Peterson.
- 47:46Speaker 1: If Kendrick Perkins, though, were the GM, he would take
- 47:48Speaker 1: him one. Jeff, you've heard him eighteen times now I have.
- 47:52Speaker 3: And you know Perk.
- 47:54Speaker 5: I don't think Perk watches anything, so I'm not relying
- 47:58Speaker 5: on Kendrick Perkins's scout.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Here to watch the Field of sixty eight on YouTube
- 48:02Speaker 1: and on three you can read and watch Jeff's work.
- 48:05Speaker 1: So you're in DC, what are you looking forward to tonight?
- 48:07Speaker 3: It's so tomorrow and out of the games here in DC.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Okay, tonight tonight, your Arizona team plays my team, though.
- 48:13Speaker 5: They do, and that that could be a really good game,
- 48:15Speaker 5: you know. And I went to Arizona, by the way.
- 48:17Speaker 5: They don't like me there, but I went there. I
- 48:21Speaker 5: think again, Arizona is probably.
- 48:23Speaker 3: The most complete team in the country.
- 48:25Speaker 5: You know, Arkansas is gonna have to play an incredible game,
- 48:29Speaker 5: and Malik Thomas is gonna have to be efficient number one,
- 48:33Speaker 5: and Trevor Brazil better show up like he better show up.
- 48:37Speaker 5: He He is clearly the X factor for Arkansas to me,
- 48:40Speaker 5: every single game. When he plays well, they have a
- 48:43Speaker 5: chance to beat just about anybody. And he's gonna need
- 48:45Speaker 5: to because Arizona's got crevious upfront.
- 48:49Speaker 3: CoA Pete is a freak athlete.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Upfront, they got a lot and they got two guards
- 48:54Speaker 5: man that again, acoff Is will be the best guard
- 48:57Speaker 5: on the court talent wise, but Aiden Burry's isn't far behind.
- 49:01Speaker 3: As a freshman, he'll be a lottery pick.
- 49:04Speaker 5: And then you got Jayden Bradley, who's made more big
- 49:06Speaker 5: shots than probably anybody this season in college basketball.
- 49:10Speaker 3: So that game's going to be awesome.
- 49:12Speaker 5: I mean, listen, the beauty of It's sad that there
- 49:16Speaker 5: weren't a lot of Cinderella's in the first round.
- 49:18Speaker 3: I hate that. I hate that.
- 49:20Speaker 5: But the beauty is we got all the big boys
- 49:23Speaker 5: you know here in the sweet sixteen, and I'm in
- 49:26Speaker 5: the East.
- 49:26Speaker 3: I mean, think about what I have here.
- 49:29Speaker 5: You know, Duke Saint John's, you know, Shire who's probably
- 49:32Speaker 5: going to be a Hall of Famer one day against
- 49:34Speaker 5: Rick Patino, probably the greatest coach in college basketball right now.
- 49:39Speaker 5: And then you go down to the other game and
- 49:41Speaker 5: you've got Dan Hurley and Yukon against Tomaszoe in Michigan State,
- 49:45Speaker 5: Like it's insane, insane.
- 49:46Speaker 1: Here, you guys follow Jeff at Goodman Hoops and also
- 49:50Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of the Field of sixty eight. Hey, Jeff,
- 49:52Speaker 1: thank you so much for spending some time with us.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Hope you have a great weekend up in DC, and
- 49:55Speaker 1: hopefully we'll talk to you again soon.
- 49:56Speaker 3: Likewise, thanks, Ben, appreciate it.
- 50:05Speaker 1: All right, Thanks Jeff Goodman for being on with us
- 50:07Speaker 1: Arkansas Place tonight. This is all going to be timely now,
- 50:10Speaker 1: so if it's three or four days later, you can
- 50:12Speaker 1: skip all this parting. I want to win. I don't
- 50:16Speaker 1: expect us to win, So I'm saying right now we
- 50:20Speaker 1: had to go. We had a Even if we lose
- 50:23Speaker 1: this year in the sweet sixteen, it's different than last
- 50:25Speaker 1: year losing at the sweet sixteen. Why you ask, because
- 50:27Speaker 1: it's the same. Why Hey, why because we won the
- 50:31Speaker 1: SEC tournament year. Yeah, we're trending up, so it's not
- 50:36Speaker 1: exactly the same. Last year we don't win the SC
- 50:40Speaker 1: tournament and then we went to Sweet sixteen. This year,
- 50:42Speaker 1: we won the SEC tournament and then we went to
- 50:44Speaker 1: Sweet sixteen. Trending up. Darius A. Cuff was awesome this year.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Gotta be happy with that. Brought a bunch of eyeballs
- 50:51Speaker 1: to Arkansas. So if we don't win, I'm going to
- 50:55Speaker 1: be disappointed, but I'm going to be an adult and
- 50:59Speaker 1: go That's a fun season. Is Cal's second year. We
- 51:05Speaker 1: had a good year. We won the SEC championship at
- 51:07Speaker 1: the tournament, and then we were to Sweet sixteen and
- 51:09Speaker 1: we're gonna have one of the best recruiting classes in
- 51:11Speaker 1: the country next year.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Eddie, he is maturing mature. Do you think it's the baby?
- 51:17Speaker 2: What do you think it is?
- 51:21Speaker 1: Tell us it's me being tired of being mad and tired.
- 51:26Speaker 1: I get that, but we have gotten better. I'm having
- 51:29Speaker 1: this conversation I had because my my genuine because last
- 51:31Speaker 1: year we lost. It was like the worst Sweet sixteen
- 51:35Speaker 1: come from behind Texas type beat us ever ever because
- 51:39Speaker 1: we were up big time. That sucked. This year, regardless
- 51:43Speaker 1: of what happened, I'm still gonna be upset. I'm not
- 51:46Speaker 1: gonna like losing, but if we lose, I'm going to go, Man,
- 51:50Speaker 1: what a good year. That's fun. I bet we're gonna
- 51:52Speaker 1: be even better next year.
- 51:53Speaker 3: I like it.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Not talk to me tomorrow.
- 51:59Speaker 1: What sucks as we plan the West and the game
- 52:00Speaker 1: doesn't even start to eight thirty.
- 52:01Speaker 2: It's a late one. It's not the last one, but
- 52:03Speaker 2: it's a late one.
- 52:04Speaker 1: What sucks for us at Arkansas is we played in
- 52:08Speaker 1: Portland for the first two games, and so you know,
- 52:12Speaker 1: we played Thursday, Saturday, played again on Thursday, so you
- 52:15Speaker 1: have to fly all the way to fay Bill all
- 52:17Speaker 1: the way. We didn't. We just stayed in a hotel
- 52:19Speaker 1: San Jose and stay.
- 52:20Speaker 3: In a hotel.
- 52:20Speaker 2: That's what I was gonna say, just stay.
- 52:21Speaker 1: But it's still harder than people to get to go
- 52:23Speaker 1: home for a couple of days. Like just being in
- 52:24Speaker 1: a hotel for a whole week. That sucks.
- 52:26Speaker 3: That tough.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Nothing's normal, your food's not normal, your beds aren't normal.
- 52:30Speaker 1: It stinks. So that's my excuse.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Okay, before you see anything, that's your excuse me.
- 52:36Speaker 1: We've been on the road for a week. But if
- 52:37Speaker 1: they win, it's because they stayed yeah, well of course, yeah, okay,
- 52:40Speaker 1: obviously that's it.
- 52:42Speaker 2: So do you think they cover I don't.
- 52:45Speaker 1: It hasn't changed at all eight and a half. I
- 52:49Speaker 1: don't know, dude.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Okay, trying to get your take on.
- 52:51Speaker 1: You're asking someone that is too emotionally.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Invested, right, it's not the person to get advice from.
- 52:57Speaker 1: If they win this game.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Oh what about what we're doing? Oh my god, we
- 53:03Speaker 2: in downtown?
- 53:04Speaker 3: Do you want to come?
- 53:06Speaker 2: I got a baby and we take the baby downtown?
- 53:09Speaker 3: What does that?
- 53:10Speaker 1: We go down like the not old school with the baby?
- 53:14Speaker 2: Oh oh hangover?
- 53:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, we won't be doing that, all right,
- 53:20Speaker 1: but fine, and four we're gonna go if we make it.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Oh my, it's close.
- 53:23Speaker 1: It in Indianapolis. I haven't asked my wife yet because
- 53:26Speaker 1: I don't want to jinx the ask like, hey do
- 53:28Speaker 1: you care? And they get in trouble for asking, and
- 53:29Speaker 1: then we don't even go. It's like a wasteful trouble. Yeah,
- 53:32Speaker 1: why would you even do that? Don't bring it up.
- 53:34Speaker 1: So all right, that's what's up. We're done. Thanks Jeff
- 53:37Speaker 1: Gudman for coming on you guys watching the game tonight. Absolutely, yeah,
- 53:41Speaker 1: it's not your team it's late. I didn't know if
- 53:43Speaker 1: you stay on watch what do you mean? But it's
- 53:44Speaker 1: good basketball, and it's for the you for this podcast.
- 53:47Speaker 2: You know, Arkansas is honorarily my team, like they are
- 53:51Speaker 2: my my kids.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Today it's Florida State because you have on Florida State.
- 53:55Speaker 2: It was just on top of the LAUNDRYI really but
- 53:58Speaker 2: but I'm telling you, even my kids they go, they
- 54:01Speaker 2: root for Arkansas only because I do and I only
- 54:03Speaker 2: do it for you so.
- 54:04Speaker 1: And you do because you got free stuff though.
- 54:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and we've been some of the time.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, that's it. Thank you guys.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Anything else, oh man, that's it. Go Hogs.
- 54:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:13Speaker 4: In Texas, good luck, Mike.
- 54:18Speaker 1: They play tonight or tomorrow tonight they play after us
- 54:20Speaker 1: before six? So are we the last game then?
- 54:23Speaker 2: Because second to last Illinois and Houston Houston, But they're
- 54:27Speaker 2: like to I know, it's weird.
- 54:29Speaker 4: Yeah, they're south where they play at nine o'clock? Our
- 54:32Speaker 4: time central?
- 54:33Speaker 1: Is that Houston? Where are they playing Houston? They start
- 54:37Speaker 1: at nine central? That's crazy. You would think they would
- 54:41Speaker 1: start our game later and let that one.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Start correct since you're in the West.
- 54:43Speaker 1: That's crazy. I hope Houston wins. I bought them, and
- 54:48Speaker 1: I bought I bought Illinois, and why would I not
- 54:51Speaker 1: root for Houston? I bought them for the same reason
- 54:53Speaker 1: you're going no.
- 54:53Speaker 2: No, no, no, I hope I win.
- 54:57Speaker 1: All Right, that's it. Thank you guys, We'll see you
- 54:58Speaker 1: next week. Mike g at that whistle all right by Everybody?
