- 0:14Speaker 5: Once again, back in the incredible.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Live and local.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 0:24Speaker 3: We're going to rock, baby.
- 0:26Speaker 5: Hey, good morning. Welcome to your Wednesday. This is Mix 102.9.
- 0:30Speaker 5: Billy the Kid, Candice Lopez is here. Producer Pooh is here.
- 0:33Speaker 5: We're bright and early today, and Candice and I, we're
- 0:35Speaker 5: in shambles.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Why?
- 0:36Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 0:37Speaker 3: We both did the same thing this morning. I just remembered.
- 0:40Speaker 5: I know. I usually get here a little bit earlier
- 0:41Speaker 5: than you. Not much. Pooh gets here the earliest. Yeah. Shocker,
- 0:44Speaker 5: believe it or not. Pooh's here first, then I'm usually here,
- 0:48Speaker 5: and then Candice rolls in.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Right. It's one, two, three.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Boom, boom, boom.
- 0:51Speaker 5: Today, Candace and I roll up at the same time.
- 0:53Speaker 6: I know.
- 0:54Speaker 3: I saw you going through the gate and I was like, what?
- 0:56Speaker 3: It's after five.
- 0:57Speaker 5: I know. It's weird. I was running late and I
- 0:59Speaker 5: even text Boo and I was like, hey, heads up,
- 1:01Speaker 5: I'm running late because guess what I did? I forgot
- 1:03Speaker 5: my phone at home.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Well, guess what I did? I forgot my phone at home.
- 1:06Speaker 5: Yep. Yep.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Literally.
- 1:09Speaker 5: We're on the same cycles, girly.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I think we are.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Luckily, I was still in the neighborhood, so it was
- 1:13Speaker 3: easy to go back, but it sounds like you weren't
- 1:15Speaker 3: in your neighborhood.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Oh, I was so mad. I was all the way
- 1:18Speaker 5: down Hebron, and I went to grab my phone for
- 1:21Speaker 5: something and just not there. Yeah.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And it's a whole process.
- 1:26Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Turning the car around. It was only five minutes, but
- 1:29Speaker 5: it was the five minutes that just sent me into
- 1:30Speaker 5: a new rage.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 6: Same.
- 1:32Speaker 3: I just, like, took deep breaths the whole way here.
- 1:35Speaker 7: Oh.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Because I was so upset. And then I got here
- 1:37Speaker 3: and left my phone in the car here. Luckily, I
- 1:39Speaker 3: was still in the parking garage, but I had to
- 1:41Speaker 3: turn around and go back and unplug it.
- 1:42Speaker 6: I know.
- 1:42Speaker 5: I was waiting for you sweating.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 1:44Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 1:44Speaker 5: And I was like, I'm trying to hold the door
- 1:46Speaker 5: and be nice, but you know what?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Good luck.
- 1:49Speaker 5: That parking garage we have downstairs... It's super sketch lately.
- 1:53Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 1:54Speaker 5: There's the biggest spider webs. It looks like spirit came
- 1:57Speaker 5: over and decorated. I mean, there's massive spiders right above.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Look up.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Oh, no, I don't look up. No, I get in
- 2:06Speaker 3: the building as quick as I can.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Okay, all right. Well, everything else good?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah, everything else is good. I got to tell you
- 2:11Speaker 3: how therapeutic popping birthday balloons is because yesterday when you left,
- 2:17Speaker 3: Zant confirmed there were 60 balloons in this studio.
- 2:20Speaker 5: 60, my nightmare.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So I went around with a ballpoint pen and I
- 2:25Speaker 3: would like plug my ears, well, one of my ears,
- 2:27Speaker 3: and I was just like, pow, pow, pow, pow, all
- 2:29Speaker 3: of them, all over the studio.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It was so awesome. I was watching her. I looked
- 2:33Speaker 1: and I heard. And I was like, what is that?
- 2:36Speaker 1: And I just see Kate just popping and popping. Who
- 2:39Speaker 1: were you pretending?
- 2:41Speaker 5: Who were you pretending those balloons were?
- 2:43Speaker 3: I actually wasn't. I was just it was like thoughts
- 2:45Speaker 3: coming out of the balloons, you know, on TV and
- 2:47Speaker 3: the commercials with like the balloons pop and like a
- 2:49Speaker 3: little thought comes out or whatever. Yeah, totally. It was like,
- 2:52Speaker 3: you know, words.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 3: It was very therapeutic, though. So thanks for leaving that
- 2:59Speaker 3: job to me. I like to take that job for
- 3:01Speaker 3: the next birthday.
- 3:01Speaker 5: Well, thank you. And I'm really weird about decorations, too.
- 3:04Speaker 5: So I really appreciate you, because once the party's over,
- 3:07Speaker 5: I need the decorations gone.
- 3:08Speaker 3: See, I like to leave my decorations up all week.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I know you don't, though. That's why I just took
- 3:14Speaker 3: it in my own hands. Did that poo and Xan,
- 3:16Speaker 3: I guess, cleaned up the rest.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Well, there wasn't much to clean up after you killed
- 3:19Speaker 5: everything in the studio. There's one balloon right here left.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I just left that one just to see what
- 3:24Speaker 3: would happen. That was a social experiment.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Well, guess what happened? Nothing. But I'm the same way
- 3:29Speaker 5: when it comes to Christmas. Like, once Christmas is over,
- 3:31Speaker 5: I want the tree down the next day.
- 3:32Speaker 6: No. I know.
- 3:33Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 3:34Speaker 5: I want everything down. We're moving on.
- 3:36Speaker 3: No.
- 3:36Speaker 5: We are moving on. But no, Candace wants to keep
- 3:38Speaker 5: it up until April.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Take it into the new year. Oh, yeah.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Producer Pooh is here. What's up, Pooh?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Man, went over to my aunt's house. First of all,
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm real mad at her. My Aunt Dean won $ 8, 000
- 3:48Speaker 1: at WinStar.
- 3:49Speaker 6: What?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:50Speaker 5: No way.
- 3:51Speaker 1: On the slots. Yes.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Good for her.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Yes. I love it.
- 3:54Speaker 1: And didn't even give us nothing. Why would she?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Were you there?
- 3:58Speaker 1: No, but I figured she.
- 4:00Speaker 5: Why would she win? This is why we fight every
- 4:03Speaker 5: day about stuff like this.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Eight grand?
- 4:05Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:05Speaker 5: It's not like she won $ 17 million.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Like $ 50 bucks or something for your favorite nephew, you know?
- 4:10Speaker 5: No. Something.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Wow.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I wouldn't expect that.
- 4:14Speaker 7: Why?
- 4:14Speaker 1: She gave her daughter some money.
- 4:16Speaker 5: It's her daughter.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, but look, I'm here. I'm family. Give
- 4:20Speaker 1: me $ 50 bucks or something. Anyway, that's not the reason
- 4:22Speaker 1: I'm mad at her. Well, I am mad about that,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but I tried cooking them sweet potatoes like y'all do.
- 4:28Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, good.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, a little black pepper, you know, pink Himalayan salt.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Cooked them in the oven, and they were like... what
- 4:34Speaker 1: is that and i was like that's sweet potatoes and
- 4:37Speaker 1: she was like child that's not sweet potatoes they wanted
- 4:40Speaker 1: to like they expected like the yams.
- 4:42Speaker 5: Well yeah i mean this is the healthy.
- 4:45Speaker 3: Way of doing it this is how.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Billy and candace do it you got to try it
- 4:49Speaker 1: it's good and they were like they cook those all
- 4:53Speaker 1: the time i said yeah i like them i eat
- 4:55Speaker 1: them at work and they were like i Uh-uh, we
- 4:57Speaker 1: want some yams. I'm like, you can't do that.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Well, I mean, yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Brown sugar.
- 5:02Speaker 5: I do love that. I do love sweet potatoes, like
- 5:06Speaker 5: Thanksgiving-style sweet potatoes. For sure. Your mama. Oh, because my
- 5:09Speaker 5: mom put so much butter in it. I'm surprised it
- 5:12Speaker 5: doesn't just stop our hearts immediately. Come on. And then
- 5:15Speaker 5: marshmallows on top. It turns the sweet potatoes and the
- 5:17Speaker 5: yams into a dessert. Yeah, it does. But, I mean,
- 5:20Speaker 5: they're good. I ate them last night.
- 5:21Speaker 8: Good.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Sweet potatoes.
- 5:24Speaker 1: So you cooked them?
- 5:25Speaker 5: Yeah. Who does weird stuff? You went over his aunts
- 5:27Speaker 5: to cook.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, we cook either Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
- 5:30Speaker 5: That's nice. Yeah, we go over there and cook.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Yeah, that is nice. I like that.
- 5:33Speaker 5: It must be nice to have a family.
- 5:35Speaker 6: Oh!
- 5:37Speaker 2: The new Mix 102.9.
- 5:39Speaker 4: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 5:42Speaker 4: Kid in the morning.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Not a chance of these Usher and Chris Brown tickets. Next,
- 5:48Speaker 5: we're doing it on the 10s pretty much every hour
- 5:50Speaker 5: all day. So listen to win. Candace, what's going on?
- 5:53Speaker 3: Well, Tropical Storm Edouard continues to weaken this morning after
- 5:57Speaker 3: making landfall off the Texas coast. Yesterday, it's bringing heavy rain.
- 6:01Speaker 3: As it moves inland just northeast of Houston. But these
- 6:04Speaker 3: bands of rain will start to make their way close
- 6:06Speaker 3: to the Metroplex. Our best chance for rain is tonight
- 6:09Speaker 3: and tomorrow. But we do have some slight chances today, too. So, yeah,
- 6:13Speaker 3: this is exciting. Did you see the high tomorrow?
- 6:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 6:16Speaker 5: 88?
- 6:16Speaker 6: 88.
- 6:16Speaker 5: I didn't want to get too excited because I feel
- 6:18Speaker 5: like if it doesn't rain, we're not really going to
- 6:20Speaker 5: see that. It might get in the 90s. But just
- 6:22Speaker 5: the thought of 88.
- 6:24Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Oh, clouds. Just the thought of clouds. We had some
- 6:27Speaker 3: clouds yesterday, which was really nice. But they're saying we
- 6:29Speaker 3: could just have stray thunderstorms, you know, over the next
- 6:32Speaker 3: day or so. So just a heads up.
- 6:34Speaker 5: It's so funny this time of the year when everybody
- 6:36Speaker 5: in Texas just want to see a cloud.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll take anything.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Just give me one little cloud.
- 6:41Speaker 3: It makes a difference.
- 6:41Speaker 5: I know it's hard to believe, though, because if you
- 6:43Speaker 5: talk to my friends up north trying to tell them
- 6:46Speaker 5: that we're so sick of the sun.
- 6:48Speaker 1: They're just like, what?
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 5: We don't want to see it. Right. I'm over it
- 6:52Speaker 5: right now.
- 6:53Speaker 3: For real. Just make a change.
- 6:54Speaker 5: I just want my PSL and a Snuggie.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Yeah. Hoodie. I want football.
- 6:59Speaker 1: It's coming.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It's coming, guys. Let me update you on Tony Romo.
- 7:03Speaker 3: He pleaded no contest in his drunk driving case yesterday
- 7:06Speaker 3: in Wisconsin. So he is going to have his license
- 7:09Speaker 3: suspended for six months. He'll also have to attend an
- 7:12Speaker 3: alcohol assessment program. Then on top of that, he'll have
- 7:15Speaker 3: to install an ignition interlock device in his car and
- 7:18Speaker 3: also pay a fine. But Tony did post a pretty
- 7:21Speaker 3: long statement yesterday calling his arrest a personal failure he
- 7:25Speaker 3: owns up to completely. He explained that multiple back surgeries
- 7:29Speaker 3: from football injuries left him dependent on pain meds. He
- 7:32Speaker 3: says that led to him self-medicating with alcohol as he
- 7:35Speaker 3: was tapering off of those. He says he is working
- 7:38Speaker 3: with a team of doctors to address his health and
- 7:41Speaker 3: make the necessary changes. But, yeah, that's the latest from
- 7:44Speaker 3: Tony Romo. Really long statement yesterday.
- 7:46Speaker 5: I hope he gets the help he needs. If he's
- 7:49Speaker 5: really got a problem, he makes mistakes.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 7:52Speaker 5: I will say, though, that thing that he's got to
- 7:54Speaker 5: put in his car.
- 7:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:55Speaker 5: You know what? That's not going to be fun, but
- 7:58Speaker 5: you've got to blow on it or your car won't start.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:00Speaker 5: You know? So, I mean, I went on a date
- 8:02Speaker 5: one time back in the day. Yeah. And after the date,
- 8:05Speaker 5: the girl asked me if I could blow on her car.
- 8:07Speaker 3: No.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Did you do it?
- 8:10Speaker 5: I had advice in my car. Is there any way
- 8:15Speaker 5: you could.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Blow on it?
- 8:17Speaker 3: Stop it.
- 8:18Speaker 5: And I was like, what?
- 8:19Speaker 3: Yeah, how do they get around people doing that?
- 8:21Speaker 5: Well, because now they have a way to, it figures out.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Facial recognition or something.
- 8:24Speaker 5: There's some kind of way that you could do it.
- 8:26Speaker 5: You have to do it now. You have to have,
- 8:27Speaker 5: I don't know what it is, but oh, yeah. So
- 8:30Speaker 5: I didn't do it. I was like, no, I can't
- 8:31Speaker 5: do that. I'll call you a taxi or something. This
- 8:33Speaker 5: was before Uber. Yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 8:35Speaker 9: Weird.
- 8:36Speaker 5: I gave her Pooh's number after that.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Guess that didn't work out.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 8:41Speaker 3: Guys, Netflix is now streaming a documentary about Australian Olympic
- 8:45Speaker 3: break dancer Rachel Raygun Gunn. It's called Raygun Breaking Badly.
- 8:50Speaker 3: This documentary details her zero-point performance at the 2024 Olympics.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Paris Olympics. And then, you know, all the backlash that
- 8:59Speaker 3: came next.
- 9:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I felt bad for her.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I did, too. And now hearing kind of what's in
- 9:04Speaker 3: this documentary, I guess she talks, you know, about a
- 9:06Speaker 3: therapy session she had just before the Olympics where she
- 9:09Speaker 3: was kind of panicking. And her therapist asked her, you know,
- 9:12Speaker 3: what's the worst outcome that could come from this? And
- 9:15Speaker 3: she said the whole world could laugh at me. And
- 9:17Speaker 3: the therapist said, do you think that's reasonable? Then it
- 9:20Speaker 3: cuts to, you know, hysterical laughing. But I guess at
- 9:23Speaker 3: the time she didn't tell her therapist, you know, I'm
- 9:25Speaker 3: going to go out and do the sprinkler and the
- 9:26Speaker 3: kangaroo jumps and all that stuff.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I mean, it was wild.
- 9:30Speaker 3: It was wild.
- 9:30Speaker 1: It was a wild performance.
- 9:31Speaker 5: If you remember, it was just, she was in that
- 9:33Speaker 5: green jumpsuit. Remember, everybody was hurt for Halloween. Right. I'll
- 9:36Speaker 5: just never forget that. I thought to myself, I need
- 9:38Speaker 5: friends like that.
- 9:40Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Whatever friends she has, I need in my life because
- 9:42Speaker 5: her confidence was on another level. She had like little
- 9:44Speaker 5: kid confidence.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Oh.
- 9:46Speaker 5: You know what I mean? She just went out there
- 9:47Speaker 5: and just did her sprinkler.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Right. Just do a cartwheel randomly.
- 9:51Speaker 1: And the freaking Olympics.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Oh.
- 9:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I want to watch this because I
- 9:55Speaker 3: want to understand because we thought she's got to be joking.
- 9:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 3: You know what I mean? How do you make it
- 10:00Speaker 3: to the Olympics in the first place?
- 10:02Speaker 5: There's a documentary I wanted to watch that I just
- 10:04Speaker 5: saw on Netflix. Oh, I want to watch the one
- 10:06Speaker 5: on Travis Barker.
- 10:07Speaker 3: And did you see that? No, and I put that
- 10:09Speaker 3: on my calendar when it came out, and I still
- 10:11Speaker 3: haven't had time to watch it. But so much good
- 10:14Speaker 3: docs out right now.
- 10:15Speaker 5: There is, and I have no time to watch it.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I know, same. Too busy in my.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Pool with my buns up.
- 10:19Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 3: I'll watch it when we go on break for Christmas, probably.
- 10:23Speaker 5: By the way, I heard, I think somebody heard yesterday
- 10:26Speaker 5: that I was tanning with my buns out.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Oh, did they?
- 10:28Speaker 5: In my pool, because guess what was over my house yesterday?
- 10:30Speaker 1: A drone?
- 10:31Speaker 5: It was a drone.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Was it really?
- 10:34Speaker 5: Someone, I don't know if it's the government, but someone's
- 10:38Speaker 5: trying to sneak a peek at my buns.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Wow.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe it was a Walmart drone.
- 10:43Speaker 3: It could have been.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Maybe they thought it was a landing spot.
- 10:46Speaker 1: It was so flat.
- 10:47Speaker 10: Oh, my God.
- 10:48Speaker 3: All right. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 10:51Speaker 5: A little secret at 730. Hopefully having the best day
- 10:54Speaker 5: ever so far. If not, do something to change it.
- 10:55Speaker 5: Make it happen. It's got to be a great day today.
- 10:57Speaker 5: It's going to be good.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Good, I like this attitude.
- 11:00Speaker 5: See, thank you. I'm a new person, Candace Lopez. Yesterday
- 11:02Speaker 5: I was a curmudgeon. Not today. Okay, not today. It's

- 11:16Speaker 3: Congratulations!
- 11:19Speaker 5: There you go, Ashton. Where are you from?
- 11:21Speaker 7: I'm from Benbrook, Texas.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Oh, Benbrook.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Okay, nice.
- 11:24Speaker 5: What are you doing this morning?
- 11:25Speaker 11: We're currently in the Starbucks line heading to school.

- 11:31Speaker 5: to Starbucks before school. What are you guys getting? What's
- 11:33Speaker 5: your order at Starbucks? This shows a lot about a person.

- 11:42Speaker 5: That's my kids do too poo does poo's my biggest

- 12:06Speaker 3: Seriously.
- 12:07Speaker 5: To be able to go to Starbucks before school.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. We didn't get that.
- 12:11Speaker 5: I don't even think I had water before school. I
- 12:14Speaker 5: don't think I drank water until I was 18.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 12:16Speaker 3: For sure. Maybe only at sports.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Right? Do you remember?
- 12:20Speaker 3: That's literally it.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Kids, I'm telling you now, drink water. We didn't drink
- 12:23Speaker 5: water as kids, and look at us. We're messed up.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 5: I didn't.
- 12:27Speaker 10: Dr.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Pepper for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Oh, I had a Dr. Pepper for lunch.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Yeah, it was whatever. All right. Real or fake news,
- 12:34Speaker 5: are you ready, Candace?
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Poo, you ready?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 12:37Speaker 5: All right. Headline number one. You got to tell me,
- 12:38Speaker 5: out of these three stories, which one is fake? It's
- 12:40Speaker 5: a little game we play to start the day and
- 12:41Speaker 5: get your mind moving. Okay. Headline number one. California man
- 12:45Speaker 5: arrested once again for sniffing butts.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 12:51Speaker 5: California man arrested once again for sniffing butts. Why? Okay.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Headline number two. New studies show sleeping with a fan
- 13:00Speaker 5: on may actually improve memory.
- 13:02Speaker 6: Huh.
- 13:03Speaker 5: New studies show sleeping with a fan on may actually
- 13:06Speaker 5: improve memory.
- 13:07Speaker 10: Okay.
- 13:08Speaker 5: That is headline number two. Headline number three. Thief steals
- 13:12Speaker 5: 40,000 pounds of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Thief steals 40,000
- 13:17Speaker 5: pounds of.
- 13:19Speaker 5: Of Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. Three headlines right there. You've
- 13:23Speaker 5: got to tell me which one. Is the fake one.
- 13:26Speaker 5: It's kind of tough today, I think.
- 13:27Speaker 8: It is.
- 13:28Speaker 5: I don't know. Candace, you want to go first? You
- 13:29Speaker 5: want to pass it to LaPoopoo? What you want to do?
- 13:31Speaker 3: What did I do yesterday? I went first yesterday?
- 13:33Speaker 5: Yeah, you were greedy yesterday.
- 13:34Speaker 3: I'm going to be greedy again today and go first.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Lock me in for the second story.
- 13:37Speaker 5: She's trying to win.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:39Speaker 3: The fan and the memory.
- 13:40Speaker 5: You don't think so? See, that makes sense to me.
- 13:42Speaker 3: I don't know. I keep hearing bad things about sleeping
- 13:44Speaker 3: with the fan on.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Of course.
- 13:46Speaker 3: And sound machines and all this stuff.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Now I got to know why.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I don't know. It does something to your brain. I
- 13:51Speaker 3: don't know. Lock it in.
- 13:52Speaker 5: Okay, I'm going to lock it in right now. Then
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'm a mess because I have to sleep with a
- 13:57Speaker 5: fan on.
- 13:57Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Do you?
- 13:58Speaker 3: I turned it on last night. Yeah, because it was
- 14:00Speaker 3: very hot.
- 14:01Speaker 5: But even in the winter, I sleep with a fan on. Same.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I have to.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Yeah, Pooh sleeps in the nude.
- 14:06Speaker 3: For the air or the sound or both?
- 14:07Speaker 5: In the nude with a fan on. Wait, what? What'd
- 14:10Speaker 5: you say?
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm a bear. I hibernate in the winter,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you know?
- 14:14Speaker 3: A grizzly bear?
- 14:15Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh, or like an Oaklawn bear.
- 14:17Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Let me be quiet. Hey, we love you no matter what.
- 14:22Speaker 5: This is the second time on the show he said
- 14:24Speaker 5: he's a bear.
- 14:24Speaker 3: I know. He's a poo bear.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Just tell us. All right, you're locked in, Candace. Producer,
- 14:30Speaker 5: which one do you think is the fake story?
- 14:33Speaker 1: That last story is still at 40 pounds of Pabst
- 14:36Speaker 1: Blue Ribbon Beer.
- 14:37Speaker 5: You think that's fake?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:38Speaker 7: Okay.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Lock me in.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Why do you think that's fake if you think somebody's
- 14:42Speaker 5: going to? Steal a beer, it's not going to be PBR?
- 14:44Speaker 1: No, uh-uh. I'd steal Bud Light or something like that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Well worth it.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Wow, the hate is real. You are locked in.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Locked in.
- 14:54Speaker 5: The winner today is, I can't believe it. Yeah, I can. Candace.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Candace.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Candace.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Candace.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Candace.
- 15:05Speaker 5: Congratulations, Candice.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You are correct.
- 15:07Speaker 5: I made that study up. In my head, it made sense. Okay.
- 15:10Speaker 5: That sleeping with a fan on might improve your memory
- 15:12Speaker 5: because in my dumb head, it was giving you more
- 15:14Speaker 5: oxygen to your brain.
- 15:15Speaker 6: Oh.
- 15:16Speaker 5: It's really just pushing the same oxygen towards you.
- 15:20Speaker 6: Right.
- 15:20Speaker 3: We've already used that oxygen.
- 15:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't matter. My whole point is, but I
- 15:24Speaker 5: gotta have a fan. I can't believe you just don't,
- 15:25Speaker 5: sometimes just don't sleep with a fan.
- 15:26Speaker 1: You're a weird sleeper.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Sometimes I don't, but I have lately.
- 15:31Speaker 5: And you have bad nights of sleeping. You need to
- 15:33Speaker 5: sleep with a fan on.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Well, I had the fan on last night and I
- 15:36Speaker 3: had a bad night of sleep. I just don't sleep good.
- 15:38Speaker 5: What are you doing? Are you dreaming bad?
- 15:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I had bad dreams last night for sure.
- 15:42Speaker 5: You need to take some of those NyQuil tablets.
- 15:44Speaker 3: Well, I would. I usually take magnesium before bed on
- 15:47Speaker 3: the weekend, but I can't come out of the fog
- 15:49Speaker 3: this early in the morning. That's a problem.
- 15:51Speaker 5: I'm still in the fog, so.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:54Speaker 5: Let's go over the real stories. That one's fake. You won, Candace.
- 15:57Speaker 5: A serial butt sniffer arrested once again in California.
- 16:00Speaker 3: What?
- 16:01Speaker 6: Yep.
- 16:01Speaker 5: California man arrested once again for sniffing butts. Can't take
- 16:04Speaker 5: this guy anywhere. California man known for repeatedly getting too
- 16:08Speaker 5: close to people and smelling their behinds has been arrested
- 16:11Speaker 5: once again in Glendale.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Oh, I live there.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. You would have been next.
- 16:15Speaker 7: No.
- 16:17Speaker 5: Police say 39-year-old Khalees Crowder was reported Friday at a
- 16:21Speaker 5: store on West Glen Oaks Boulevard where witnesses said he
- 16:26Speaker 5: crouched down, moved closely to people to smell their butts.
- 16:30Speaker 6: Oh.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Officers also received a report of a similar incident at
- 16:33Speaker 5: nearby Marshalls.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Not Marshalls.
- 16:36Speaker 7: Oh, wow.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You can't be doing that in Marshalls.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Come on.
- 16:37Speaker 5: That's some Ross activity.
- 16:39Speaker 7: It is.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Don't do that in Marshalls. Marshalls is next level classy joint.
- 16:46Speaker 7: Is it?
- 16:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 5: But the point is, take that to TJ Maxx.
- 16:50Speaker 3: That's a nice door.
- 16:52Speaker 5: That's a Burlington Code activity.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Hobby Lobby.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Either way, this guy's done this before many times. Jeez.
- 17:01Speaker 5: I know.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Stop.
- 17:02Speaker 5: How many times do we have to tell you, Khalees?
- 17:04Speaker 3: Literally, stop.
- 17:05Speaker 5: And this guy just looks like he would be sniffing booty.
- 17:08Speaker 11: Oh.
- 17:08Speaker 5: He really does. So, yep. Hopefully, you can throw that
- 17:11Speaker 5: guy in jail and just forget about it. Now, this
- 17:15Speaker 5: other story, Thief's Steel, 40,000 pounds. 40,000 pounds of PBR,
- 17:21Speaker 5: Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer. My grandpa used to drink that.
- 17:24Speaker 3: He loved it.
- 17:25Speaker 5: Some PBR. PBR. Out of the can. Either way, this
- 17:28Speaker 5: happened in California.
- 17:31Speaker 1: What's up with California?
- 17:32Speaker 3: Wow.
- 17:32Speaker 5: Sometimes it's Florida. Sometimes it's like Florida for real. Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 5: So I guess this guy, what happened is these thieves,
- 17:38Speaker 5: this was a ring. Multiple people were involved in this heist.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Huh.
- 17:43Speaker 5: So they got a truck and they go to the factory,
- 17:47Speaker 5: to the Pabst Blue Ribbon factory with like a fake invoice.
- 17:50Speaker 2: No.
- 17:50Speaker 5: To pick up beer.
- 17:51Speaker 7: Huh.
- 17:52Speaker 5: And they're like, yeah, back it up.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And they just load case after case.
- 17:56Speaker 6: No.
- 17:57Speaker 5: A PBR in there, about $ 70, 000 worth. Jeez. Then they
- 18:01Speaker 5: go take that somewhere and they go back. What? Yeah,
- 18:05Speaker 5: you won't believe this. Got another invoice. Greedy. Well, man,
- 18:09Speaker 5: someone's drinking a lot of PBR. Back it up over
- 18:12Speaker 5: there and stall nine.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:14Speaker 5: Loading them up again with a whole other case.
- 18:17Speaker 6: Wow.
- 18:17Speaker 5: So that was another $ 25, 000 worth of beer. They got
- 18:19Speaker 5: over $ 90, 000 in beer, 34,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
- 18:26Speaker 5: And you know what? Shout out to PBR, because what
- 18:28Speaker 5: they did is they just changed it into, like, a
- 18:31Speaker 5: marketing stunt.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Oh, really? Yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that is smart.
- 18:34Speaker 5: I mean, really, it is. They were just like, hey,
- 18:36Speaker 5: I know you want some Pabst Blue Ribbon, but you
- 18:38Speaker 5: don't have to steal it. So they said to the thief,
- 18:43Speaker 5: we don't fault you for wanting to brag to your
- 18:46Speaker 5: friends about how much PBR you have. We just wish
- 18:48Speaker 5: you had obtained it in an honorable way. They also said,
- 18:51Speaker 5: this is a real story, we're deadly serious, but maybe
- 18:54Speaker 5: you could bring some of the PBR back to share
- 18:56Speaker 5: with others. So, was that like your go-to beer in college?
- 19:00Speaker 5: Not that you should drink in college, but what was
- 19:02Speaker 5: your go-to drink back in the day, Candice?
- 19:04Speaker 3: I don't know. I think Heineken at one point, because
- 19:06Speaker 3: I found out Justin Timberlake drank it. Like, what does
- 19:12Speaker 3: that taste like? Did you see her laugh?
- 19:13Speaker 5: She goes....
- 19:15Speaker 1: This is so silly.
- 19:18Speaker 5: So you started drinking Heineken because.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Well, it.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Was like a whole thing for a minute.
- 19:23Speaker 5: You were so obsessed.
- 19:24Speaker 3: For like two seconds. Not with him, but like Heineken.
- 19:27Speaker 5: No, I was going to say, you're still obsessed with him.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Well, not like I used to be.
- 19:31Speaker 5: No, back in the day, you literally stalked them.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I loved NSYNC. Yeah, I went to like every show ever.
- 19:37Speaker 5: Every show in multiple cities. You were pretty much on
- 19:39Speaker 5: tour with them.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Well, I had friends that worked for them.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Do you ever look back and go, maybe I was
- 19:44Speaker 5: a little too much?
- 19:46Speaker 3: No, I don't. No, I don't.
- 19:49Speaker 7: I know.
- 19:50Speaker 5: You're drinking PBR or Heineken right now. Morning. It's Mix 102.9.
- 19:54Speaker 5: And my name is Bailey the Kid. Candace is here.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Candace Lopez. So is Pooh. You know what? Can I
- 19:59Speaker 5: ask you a question? Because maybe yesterday was my birthday.
- 20:02Speaker 5: Maybe I'm just getting older, but the older I get,
- 20:04Speaker 5: two things are happening. And I'm like, this is weird.
- 20:07Speaker 5: I want to get rid of everything I own.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Yeah, that's a midlife thing, I think.
- 20:12Speaker 5: Whoa.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Well, it is.
- 20:13Speaker 5: Okay, I didn't need to be called old.
- 20:16Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 20:16Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 20:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean, we're all in the same boat.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I just want to get rid of things. Like, I
- 20:19Speaker 5: don't want clutter. I just want to get rid of things, too.
- 20:22Speaker 5: And then, too, I want to clean everything. I don't
- 20:25Speaker 5: know why, all of a sudden, and I'm never, I'm
- 20:27Speaker 5: not like a clean, like, you're a clean freak.
- 20:28Speaker 3: No, I'm not at all.
- 20:30Speaker 8: Really?
- 20:30Speaker 6: No.
- 20:31Speaker 5: I always thought you were a clean freak. No.
- 20:33Speaker 3: You're dirty? I mean, I don't like germs, but I'm
- 20:35Speaker 3: not a clean freak.
- 20:36Speaker 5: I don't think anybody loves germs.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I think it's a little different.
- 20:38Speaker 5: Nobody's out here loving germs.
- 20:41Speaker 3: You know what I mean. There's a difference.
- 20:42Speaker 5: No, but have you noticed the older you get, you
- 20:44Speaker 5: want to get rid of things?
- 20:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Like, I don't want clutter. I'm like, what's in this drawer?
- 20:47Speaker 5: Why do I need any of this? And I just
- 20:49Speaker 5: throw things away.
- 20:49Speaker 3: It also happens when the seasons change. Like, you're ready
- 20:52Speaker 3: for fall. You're ready to turn the page and start fresh.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Am I turning the page? It's like spring cleaning, like
- 20:56Speaker 3: fall cleaning.
- 20:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Maybe I am, but it brought me to this story
- 20:58Speaker 5: because you know I love a good list, and I
- 21:00Speaker 5: know you hate germs, and I thought you were a
- 21:02Speaker 5: clean freak. Maybe I should just throw this away.
- 21:04Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not a clean freak. I like cleanliness
- 21:07Speaker 3: for sure.
- 21:07Speaker 5: Is Eric, your husband, cleaner than you?
- 21:09Speaker 6: Yes.
- 21:09Speaker 5: See, okay, maybe he's who I'm thinking of. For sure.
- 21:12Speaker 5: He's like totally OCD. Yeah. Okay, items in your house
- 21:15Speaker 5: that are dirtier than a toilet seat.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:18Speaker 8: What?
- 21:18Speaker 5: They did an actual study on this.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Wow.
- 21:21Speaker 5: And it's items that you, okay, you can take a guess,
- 21:23Speaker 5: because a lot of stuff I'm like, no way this
- 21:25Speaker 5: is dirtier than, what could be dirtier than a toilet seat?
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Toilet seats are gross. Oh, toilet seats are gross.
- 21:31Speaker 3: What's dirtier than the toilet seat? I mean, the floor?
- 21:35Speaker 5: Okay, you think the floor, yeah, you're a weirdo when
- 21:36Speaker 5: it comes to, everybody's going to take their shoes off.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:38Speaker 5: I hate houses like that.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Is toothbrush on that list?
- 21:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:43Speaker 5: Toothbrush? You think your toothbrush is dirtier than a toilet seat?
- 21:48Speaker 5: What's going on in your mouth?
- 21:49Speaker 1: No, I'm just saying your tongue.
- 21:51Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:52Speaker 5: What about your tongue? Your tongue has bacteria on it.
- 21:56Speaker 5: That's why you've got to brush it. Well, I know,
- 21:58Speaker 5: but I've got a tongue scraper. Yeah, I know, but
- 22:00Speaker 5: scrape my tongue. Do you clean your tongue scraper? Yes.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm just asking, you know, I don't know.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Do you have a tongue scraper? Yes.
- 22:08Speaker 3: You put toothpaste on it every day, multiple times a day,
- 22:11Speaker 3: so that should clean it, right?
- 22:12Speaker 1: Hopefully.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Your toothbrush?
- 22:14Speaker 5: I don't know if toothpaste actually is like a... Sanitizer, though.
- 22:17Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Well, I mean, it's got to be cleaner than your
- 22:19Speaker 3: toilet seat.
- 22:20Speaker 5: That's another thing. Someone who uses their toothbrush for like
- 22:23Speaker 5: three years and never changes it.
- 22:24Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 5: I'm going to lose my mind.
- 22:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Something wrong with your mouth, Blair.
- 22:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Well, I don't know.
- 22:30Speaker 5: I'm a little bit. No, but I don't think toothbrush
- 22:31Speaker 5: was on the list. I hope not.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Okay. Okay.
- 22:34Speaker 5: You want the top five, Candice?
- 22:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Because number five is something that people don't think is dirtier,
- 22:38Speaker 5: but it's actually dirtier than toilet seat and you need
- 22:40Speaker 5: to wash it right now.
- 22:41Speaker 3: What?
- 22:42Speaker 5: Your coffee reservoir.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Let me tell you how disgusting those things are. If
- 22:48Speaker 5: you have like a Keurig, the reservoir in your coffee,
- 22:51Speaker 5: just refilling it.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to descale and do all that stuff.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I worry about our one here at work because I'm like,
- 22:57Speaker 3: who's descaling that and cleaning it and doing whatever?
- 22:59Speaker 5: I'll tell you who.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Nobody. I saw the company come clean it out.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they have a schedule. Because it's like
- 23:06Speaker 3: a corporate one.
- 23:07Speaker 1: They better. They come clean.
- 23:11Speaker 3: It. I'm drinking that coffee right now.
- 23:14Speaker 5: I don't get coffee here anyway.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I don't want to, but I don't have a choice sometimes.
- 23:18Speaker 5: You're Reservoir Dirty. You got a dirty reservoir. And number
- 23:22Speaker 5: four on the list, the actually dirtiest items in your house.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Number four was your pet bowl.
- 23:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:29Speaker 5: If you have a pet, the bowl, the food bowl. Because,
- 23:31Speaker 5: I mean, I do wash mine. Yeah. But people don't
- 23:33Speaker 5: wash it every day. Yeah. Right. They say you should
- 23:36Speaker 5: wash it every day because it is nasty.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:40Speaker 6: Wow.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Actually, number three kind of shocks me. Your toothbrush holder.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Okay.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Oh, the holder.
- 23:46Speaker 10: Okay.
- 23:47Speaker 5: After you brush your dirty tongue.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 23:50Speaker 5: You're putting it in there, and it's just holding germs.
- 23:52Speaker 5: That's what it's holding.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:53Speaker 5: Number two on the list is your kitchen sink.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Okay. That makes sense.
- 23:59Speaker 6: Dirty.
- 24:00Speaker 1: How does a kitchen sink?
- 24:00Speaker 5: Your kitchen sink, poo, I've seen it. It's got a
- 24:03Speaker 5: pink ring.
- 24:04Speaker 1: No, no.
- 24:05Speaker 5: Your kitchen sink be dirty.
- 24:07Speaker 1: It's dirty as steel.
- 24:08Speaker 5: No, but they say it doesn't matter. It can still
- 24:10Speaker 5: be dirty.
- 24:10Speaker 9: No.
- 24:12Speaker 1: I even clean my disposal. I cut a lemon. Put
- 24:15Speaker 1: it down there and turn the disposal on?
- 24:17Speaker 5: Yeah, no, so do I. I do that. I buy
- 24:18Speaker 5: those little pods you throw down there.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Yeah, those are nice.
- 24:20Speaker 5: And then you put some vinegar down there, too, and
- 24:22Speaker 5: some lemon.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Okay, yeah.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Distilled vinegar. You got to do that down your pipes
- 24:27Speaker 5: every once in a while.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Yeah, you do.
- 24:29Speaker 5: Because your pipes will get clogged.
- 24:30Speaker 3: For sure.
- 24:31Speaker 6: All right.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Number one, dirtiest item in your entire household.
- 24:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 5: What do you think it is? The dirtiest, nastiest item
- 24:38Speaker 5: in your house right now.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Why is it so hard?
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 24:41Speaker 3: The floor.
- 24:42Speaker 5: No, it's not the floor, Candace.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Okay. Who? Your pillowcase?
- 24:46Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 24:47Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 24:48Speaker 3: You said guess.
- 24:49Speaker 1: How are you going to ask me to guess and
- 24:50Speaker 1: then you.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Look at me crazy?
- 24:52Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Because who says your pillowcase is dirty?
- 24:55Speaker 1: No, I wash my stuff.
- 24:56Speaker 5: Do you take your pillowcase off and your pillow's brown?
- 24:58Speaker 5: Don't lie. You got brown stains.
- 25:01Speaker 3: On your pillow?
- 25:03Speaker 1: To you?
- 25:05Speaker 5: Who said he dated a girl one time he took
- 25:07Speaker 5: her pillowcase off and it had a brown stain?
- 25:09Speaker 3: Is it your trash can?
- 25:11Speaker 6: No.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Number one on the list, dirtiest item in your house
- 25:16Speaker 5: right now.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Remote control.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Nope.
- 25:18Speaker 5: Your dish, sponge, or rag. Number one on the list.
- 25:24Speaker 5: They say there's more bacteria on that thing than anything
- 25:28Speaker 5: else in your house. It's 5,000 times dirtier than money
- 25:31Speaker 5: or your toilet seat. Money's dirty. Let me ask you this, Pooh.
- 25:35Speaker 5: Can I ask you this? I think you told me
- 25:38Speaker 5: you did this. Are you the person who washes your
- 25:40Speaker 5: chicken before you cook it?
- 25:41Speaker 6: No.
- 25:42Speaker 1: No, I don't do that.
- 25:44Speaker 5: People do this.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I remember it was a hot debate for a minute.
- 25:47Speaker 1: I think that's weird.
- 25:48Speaker 5: But with soap.
- 25:50Speaker 3: With soap?
- 25:52Speaker 5: Hand to God, I know somebody who washes their chicken
- 25:55Speaker 5: breasts before they cook it with Dawn soap.
- 25:57Speaker 3: That is nasty.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Why would you do that?
- 26:00Speaker 5: If you wash your chicken with Dawn soap or any
- 26:04Speaker 5: kind of soap, I want to know what's the method.
- 26:06Speaker 5: There's no way that's all coming off.
- 26:09Speaker 6: 833-787-1029.
- 26:09Speaker 5: No, they wash it with soap and then they cook it.
- 26:12Speaker 11: Weird.
- 26:13Speaker 5: That's nasty. Not even kidding you. Too much work. And
- 26:15Speaker 5: then after all that, put no seasoning on it. candace
- 26:20Speaker 5: no i've seen your chicken yeah you season with thoughts
- 26:24Speaker 5: and prayers.
- 26:26Speaker 2: The new mix 102.9.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Texas top stories on the tens with billy the kid
- 26:31Speaker 4: in the.
- 26:31Speaker 6: Morning only on the new mix 102.9 got a.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Chance to get these usher and chris brown tickets coming
- 26:37Speaker 5: up next we're doing it all day on the tens
- 26:39Speaker 5: and even a shot to get on that vip riser Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 5: Which that's like the VIP VIP section. If you win that,
- 26:46Speaker 5: because you get like a full on little private dance possibly.
- 26:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they come through. Right.
- 26:51Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. With Chris Brown or Usher. You never know
- 26:53Speaker 5: who's got who might come through. Somebody might come through
- 26:55Speaker 5: and just be like, what's up, girl? Oh, I don't
- 27:00Speaker 5: know about Pujon Love. That's a little more special than
- 27:04Speaker 5: ushering Chris Brown. But anyway, shot to win next. Candace,
- 27:07Speaker 5: what's going on?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Well, a North Texas couple is going to federal prison
- 27:10Speaker 3: after pleading guilty in a wire fraud case involving fake
- 27:14Speaker 3: custom home projects. So according to court records, this couple
- 27:18Speaker 3: defrauded more than 40 people from over six different counties
- 27:21Speaker 3: in the Metroplex over the course of about three years.
- 27:25Speaker 3: So they were offering to do custom home projects well
- 27:28Speaker 3: below market price. And then, you know, they would take
- 27:30Speaker 3: a couple payments from these victims, then just abandon the
- 27:34Speaker 3: projects or just not do the work that they promised.
- 27:37Speaker 3: The guy involved in this admitted, you know, he was,
- 27:40Speaker 3: in fact, not a licensed architect like he told these
- 27:43Speaker 3: people he was. But this involved at least 24 different
- 27:46Speaker 3: construction projects and around $ 4. 2 million in losses for these victims.
- 27:51Speaker 6: Geez.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Um, yeah, I hate seeing people taking advantage of like this.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I think there was a couple, uh, that came out
- 27:57Speaker 3: a few months ago saying like, we just don't have
- 27:59Speaker 3: a house. Like they just left us. Um, they've been
- 28:03Speaker 3: living with family for months. Um, but the defense attorneys
- 28:06Speaker 3: claimed that their business started out as an honest business,
- 28:09Speaker 3: but because of struggles during the pandemic, they made a
- 28:11Speaker 3: series of poor decisions. You know, the other side is like, no,
- 28:15Speaker 3: this was intentional.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:16Speaker 1: You're ripping people off.
- 28:18Speaker 5: Millions of dollars. Obviously you have a whole motive and
- 28:21Speaker 5: a system set up. You don't do that by accident
- 28:22Speaker 5: multiple times.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Right.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah. That's a lot of money. Happy that these people
- 28:27Speaker 3: are going to get justice in that case, though. And
- 28:29Speaker 3: we mentioned this on Monday that Miley Cyrus changed her
- 28:32Speaker 3: Instagram handle to just say Miley. Now we have the
- 28:35Speaker 3: new album announcement we were all expecting. It's called Bass
- 28:39Speaker 3: Persuades and It's going to be out September 18th. This
- 28:42Speaker 3: will be her 10th studio album. Miley also announced she'll
- 28:46Speaker 3: be playing two shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October. But, yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 3: that happened pretty much right after our show yesterday.
- 28:52Speaker 5: Yeah, which I'm curious how this album is going to
- 28:54Speaker 5: sound because it's been a minute since she's put something out.
- 28:57Speaker 5: I mean, she put something out, but like a full album,
- 28:59Speaker 5: I guess.
- 29:00Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Who knows?
- 29:01Speaker 5: Because her sound is all over the place.
- 29:02Speaker 3: Yeah, and all the teaser videos show her playing guitar.
- 29:06Speaker 3: And so I'm curious, too. I think Apple Music was
- 29:09Speaker 3: commenting on that post saying a new era of Miley
- 29:12Speaker 3: is coming. Yeah, we'll see in just a couple of weeks. Guys,
- 29:16Speaker 3: it's obviously pumpkin spice season. Here's the latest product to
- 29:20Speaker 3: go pumpkin. Mylanta just announced two limited edition fall harvest
- 29:28Speaker 3: liquid antacids. No. Yeah, it's going viral this morning. Pumpkin
- 29:32Speaker 3: spice and spiced apple cider.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Do you drink that? Do you drink this, Mylanta? What
- 29:37Speaker 5: is it?
- 29:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's heartburn.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Let me ask the old person on the show, too. Wow.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't, but yeah.
- 29:45Speaker 5: What do you drink Mylanta for? Is it heartburn? Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 5: if you have heartburn, yeah. I think my grandpa used
- 29:49Speaker 5: to drink it.
- 29:50Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Oh, Mylanta.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 29:53Speaker 5: Is that why they say that? Yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 1: What the?
- 29:55Speaker 3: That was a big thing in like middle school. We'd say, oh,
- 29:57Speaker 3: my Atlanta.
- 29:58Speaker 5: I never knew that that was where that came from.
- 30:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Yeah. So this is just a limited time thing. They're
- 30:03Speaker 3: on Amazon. They'll go to select retailers, but not everywhere.
- 30:06Speaker 3: But the list of like weird pumpkin products like the
- 30:09Speaker 3: dude wipes.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Pumpkin Spice Dude Wipes.
- 30:12Speaker 5: They were good. I had those.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I liked those too.
- 30:14Speaker 1: They smelled okay.
- 30:15Speaker 5: They smelled all right. Pumpkin Spice Dude Wipes are not bad.
- 30:18Speaker 3: But there's like Pumpkin Spice Toilet Paper, Trash Bags, Pumpkin
- 30:21Speaker 3: Spice Spam.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Ooh, Pumpkin Spice Spam.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Our show's actually flavored Pumpkin Spice.
- 30:28Speaker 3: That's good.
- 30:28Speaker 5: You can taste our show right now. I don't know
- 30:31Speaker 5: actually what it would taste like. I don't know if
- 30:33Speaker 5: it's pumpkin spice.
- 30:34Speaker 3: A little hint of cinnamon today.
- 30:37Speaker 1: And regret. There you go.
- 30:38Speaker 3: All right. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 30:41Speaker 5: We have a banger we're about to do. First thing
- 30:44Speaker 5: in the morning to get your day going on Mix 102.9.
- 30:45Speaker 5: It's Peely the Kid, Candace Lopez, Producer Pooh. Dirty Little
- 30:49Speaker 5: Secret is next, but I'm so excited. This is what,
- 30:52Speaker 5: to me, makes this job so much fun when I
- 30:54Speaker 5: get to do stuff like this.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:56Speaker 5: You know, we're doing this big campaign. iHeartRadio is doing
- 30:58Speaker 5: a massive campaign doing Thank a Teacher, and it's powered
- 31:01Speaker 5: by DonorsChoose. And it's just our way of, I mean,
- 31:04Speaker 5: there's so many amazing teachers that deserve the recognition. And
- 31:09Speaker 5: this one has no idea what I'm about to do.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:12Speaker 5: But check this out. Is this Kim? Is she on
- 31:13Speaker 5: the phone? Is this Kim?
- 31:14Speaker 7: Yes, it is.
- 31:15Speaker 10: Good morning.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Good morning, Kim.
- 31:17Speaker 6: How are you?
- 31:17Speaker 1: I'm great.
- 31:18Speaker 5: How are you? So good. This is Billy the Kid.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Candace Lopez is here. Producer Poo is here. And we're
- 31:24Speaker 5: doing Thank a Teacher, and it's powered by DonorsChoose. And
- 31:27Speaker 5: we called you just to get you on the phone
- 31:29Speaker 5: because I heard you're an amazing teacher. And we had
- 31:34Speaker 5: some people nominate you to say how great you are,
- 31:36Speaker 5: including your friend, Kimiko. Do you know Kimiko?
- 31:39Speaker 8: I do.
- 31:40Speaker 10: I've had two of her children.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Really? And you're in Arlington, right? What school are you at?
- 31:46Speaker 10: I'm at Atherton Elementary.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Oh, that's right. Which I heard is an awesome school, obviously,
- 31:51Speaker 5: if it has teachers like you. Can I read you, Kim,
- 31:53Speaker 5: what she wrote about you?
- 31:54Speaker 8: Absolutely.
- 31:57Speaker 10: Absolutely.
- 31:57Speaker 5: So Kimiko wrote us and I thought it was so touching.
- 32:00Speaker 5: She said she is one of the teachers I recommend
- 32:02Speaker 5: for her kindness, caring and genuine love for education. I've
- 32:08Speaker 5: seen her work with students with unique skills and handling
- 32:11Speaker 5: it professionally. She has never backed down from a challenge
- 32:15Speaker 5: and she has done it with grace. It's time for
- 32:18Speaker 5: the world to know how wonderful she is as a teacher.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Oh.
- 32:22Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh.
- 32:23Speaker 10: I'm driving, and I'm tearing up.
- 32:26Speaker 6: Oh.
- 32:26Speaker 5: It's people like you, teachers like you, that make such
- 32:29Speaker 5: a big difference in our world. One way we wanted
- 32:32Speaker 5: to thank you is we're giving you a $ 5, 000 gift
- 32:35Speaker 5: card from DonorsChoose so you can get whatever you want
- 32:38Speaker 5: for your classroom.
- 32:39Speaker 10: Oh, my gosh.
- 32:40Speaker 3: $ 5, 000, Kim.
- 32:42Speaker 5: $ 5, 000. Thank you.
- 32:46Speaker 3: You deserve it.
- 32:47Speaker 10: Oh, my goodness. I'm in shock.
- 32:50Speaker 7: I'm speechless.
- 32:51Speaker 10: I really am. There are so many teachers out there
- 32:55Speaker 10: so deserving of this.
- 32:57Speaker 5: And you're one of them.
- 32:59Speaker 10: Oh, thank you.
- 33:01Speaker 5: You are. And I wish we could do this for
- 33:02Speaker 5: every teacher. But, I mean, this is just one of
- 33:05Speaker 5: many gift cards that we are giving out because you
- 33:08Speaker 5: guys deserve it. You really do. So I hope this
- 33:10Speaker 5: helps your classroom.
- 33:11Speaker 10: It will. And honestly, I spend the majority of the
- 33:16Speaker 10: money on my classroom store.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 33:19Speaker 10: I use it for rewards and incentives. It's wonderful. And
- 33:23Speaker 10: I plan to get back to my school as well.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I want to help and give to the teachers and
- 33:28Speaker 3: the other students as well.
- 33:30Speaker 10: So thank you all so much.
- 33:33Speaker 5: Well, teachers like you just make the biggest difference in
- 33:35Speaker 5: our world, Kim. So thank you. Enjoy this money.
- 33:38Speaker 10: Happy birthday, by the way.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Oh, thank you.
- 33:41Speaker 5: I appreciate that. And you're the best.
- 33:43Speaker 10: We love your show. Thank you guys for brightening our day.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Thank you, Kim.
- 33:48Speaker 5: It's our pleasure, Kim. Thank you for making such a
- 33:51Speaker 5: big difference in these kids' lives.
- 33:52Speaker 3: And the parents, because we need teachers that we can
- 33:56Speaker 3: trust to be with our kids more than they're with
- 33:58Speaker 3: us sometimes. It means a lot for us to be
- 34:00Speaker 3: able to have our kids in someone's hands like you.
- 34:02Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you, Kim.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 34:04Speaker 10: Thank you.
- 34:04Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 34:05Speaker 10: I feel so blessed. Thank you so much.
- 34:07Speaker 1: You're so welcome.
- 34:08Speaker 5: You stay right there. Hold on, Kim. You see, you
- 34:10Speaker 5: made me cry.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 34:12Speaker 5: That's what it's all about. It's time to confess.
- 34:15Speaker 2: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 34:17Speaker 2: Morning on Mix 102.9. Brought to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Yes, it's time to confess right now. It's Billy the Kid,
- 34:24Speaker 5: Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. By the way, I know people
- 34:27Speaker 5: want these Usher and I almost said Lil Wayne tickets.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Not Lil Wayne, Chris Brown. Lil Wayne was here not
- 34:32Speaker 5: too long ago.
- 34:32Speaker 1: He was, yeah.
- 34:33Speaker 5: Either way, if you want these tickets, we're doing it
- 34:34Speaker 5: on the 10s pretty much every hour, all day. So
- 34:37Speaker 5: make sure you listen. A chance to get on that
- 34:38Speaker 5: VIP riser, too, which who knows what will happen to
- 34:41Speaker 5: you on that VIP riser because that's the riser where
- 34:44Speaker 5: Chris Brown sometimes just hops on over, takes his shirt off,
- 34:47Speaker 5: and just gives you a private show. And then causes
- 34:50Speaker 5: a divorce.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, he does.
- 34:52Speaker 5: It might be Usher. It might be Chris Brown. You
- 34:54Speaker 5: don't know. So there's a chance at that. I'm just
- 34:55Speaker 5: giving you a heads up.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Well, thanks for the heads up.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Yeah. I had no idea. Imagine going to this show
- 35:00Speaker 5: and all of a sudden Chris Brown's got his shirt off.
- 35:02Speaker 6: Oh, hey.
- 35:03Speaker 5: And he's like, you know.
- 35:04Speaker 3: No thanks.
- 35:05Speaker 5: Well, some people like that.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no.
- 35:07Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 35:08Speaker 5: Who will be on that riser?
- 35:09Speaker 9: No, I won't.
- 35:11Speaker 5: Either way, 833-787-1029. If you have a confession, a secret,
- 35:16Speaker 5: this is what we do, and you have one. Let's
- 35:18Speaker 5: do it.
- 35:19Speaker 8: All right.
- 35:19Speaker 11: So my husband and I have been lying to our
- 35:21Speaker 11: kids pretty much their entire lives.
- 35:24Speaker 3: What?
- 35:26Speaker 1: About what?
- 35:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:27Speaker 7: We tell them they're poor.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Wait.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Seriously?
- 35:31Speaker 1: You tell them they're poor or you're poor.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Or everyone's poor?
- 35:35Speaker 7: Well, we are poor, yeah.
- 35:36Speaker 5: You do, but you're not poor. Okay.
- 35:39Speaker 8: What?
- 35:41Speaker 3: How old are they?
- 35:43Speaker 7: So basically, our kids are five and eight. We have
- 35:45Speaker 7: a boy and a girl.
- 35:46Speaker 11: And right now, they don't really know any better. But
- 35:49Speaker 11: our plan is to just keep this going for as
- 35:50Speaker 11: long as we possibly can.
- 35:53Speaker 7: But the truth is, we're not poor at all.
- 35:56Speaker 11: But we tell them that we are.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Okay.
- 36:01Speaker 5: So, yeah. I guess why?
- 36:03Speaker 7: Well, okay. So here's the deal.
- 36:04Speaker 11: My husband and I have really good jobs. We save
- 36:06Speaker 11: a ton of money. We could live in, like, a
- 36:08Speaker 11: bigger house, drive next to our cars, buy them, like,
- 36:11Speaker 11: the kids, whatever they ask for, we just, we choose
- 36:13Speaker 11: not to because like my husband and I both grew
- 36:17Speaker 11: up like actually poor, like times where we didn't know
- 36:20Speaker 11: where our next meal was going to come from. I
- 36:22Speaker 11: started working when I was 12. I would give my
- 36:24Speaker 11: mom money to help out. My husband had a very
- 36:27Speaker 11: similar childhood, but like, even though it was hard, we
- 36:30Speaker 11: both agreed, like it, it built some.
- 36:34Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:54Speaker 11: I can't believe that they expect that they'll like, eventually
- 36:57Speaker 11: they'll have to like get a job and.
- 36:59Speaker 7: Earn their own money.
- 37:00Speaker 11: So we just were like, you know what? We're going
- 37:01Speaker 11: to do things differently. They have everything they need. They
- 37:05Speaker 11: have a nice home. They have like food and clothes
- 37:07Speaker 11: and you know, birthday presents, Christmas presents, all that stuff.
- 37:10Speaker 11: They're taken care of.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I was going to ask you, how poor are you?
- 37:12Speaker 11: We're not that poor, but we are poor.
- 37:15Speaker 8: They like ask for.
- 37:17Speaker 11: Some expensive toy because like another kid has it.
- 37:20Speaker 7: Like, sorry. No, we can't afford that is the answer.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Wow.
- 37:24Speaker 7: If they want something extra, they have chores. They can
- 37:26Speaker 7: earn it. They can save up for it.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Okay.
- 37:29Speaker 5: So there's, there's a reason.
- 37:31Speaker 7: Yeah, totally.
- 37:33Speaker 5: But okay. Well here, I guess what I'm saying is,
- 37:35Speaker 5: do they have the other things that the other kids have? Like,
- 37:38Speaker 5: you know what I mean? Or is it, or they obviously.
- 37:42Speaker 5: don't have as much in that strategic, as far as
- 37:45Speaker 5: on your part.
- 37:45Speaker 7: They strategically do not have as much. They don't have
- 37:47Speaker 7: cell phones.
- 37:48Speaker 11: They don't have video games. We don't do, like, a
- 37:50Speaker 11: bunch of electronics.
- 37:51Speaker 7: Like, we just don't do that.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we don't really either.
- 37:53Speaker 11: I know people are going to think this is messed
- 37:55Speaker 11: up because, like, technically we are lying to the kids. But, like,
- 37:58Speaker 11: we don't even buy everything we want ourselves. Like, my
- 38:00Speaker 11: husband and I are, like, we have, like, a panic
- 38:02Speaker 11: room that's full of, like, nice stuff that we're not sharing.
- 38:06Speaker 11: Why would we teach our kids that they should just
- 38:09Speaker 11: get everything they want?
- 38:10Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 38:11Speaker 3: That's so interesting because I kind of do this to
- 38:14Speaker 3: my child, too, because, yeah, I could get you that,
- 38:17Speaker 3: you know, but I don't. Um, but I also hear
- 38:20Speaker 3: them talk about like not saying we can't afford that
- 38:23Speaker 3: to your kids because it gives like a scarcity mindset
- 38:26Speaker 3: or it teaches them, you know, different like thoughts about
- 38:29Speaker 3: money that.
- 38:30Speaker 5: Aren't healthy, which sometimes depending on the kids, I don't
- 38:33Speaker 5: know if that's a bad thing though, because if you've
- 38:36Speaker 5: ever hit rock bottom as an adult, you know, you
- 38:39Speaker 5: never want to be back there again.
- 38:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:41Speaker 5: So you kind of put yourself in a different mindset
- 38:43Speaker 5: and maybe that's what it does to some kids. Like
- 38:46Speaker 5: you said, you grew up. Not well off. You were poor.
- 38:49Speaker 5: You had the, I got to work hard to get
- 38:51Speaker 5: what I want. I do see where you're coming from
- 38:53Speaker 5: for sure.
- 38:53Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 38:55Speaker 5: Now, Candace, you don't, Enzo gets things though.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he gets things, but yeah, we do the
- 39:00Speaker 3: same thing. I tell him, put it off until, you know,
- 39:02Speaker 3: Christmas or I tell him, you know, he can earn it.
- 39:05Speaker 3: He'll do chores around the house or whatever, or we're
- 39:07Speaker 3: trying to teach him to save stuff like that.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Now I will say though, you're about to run into
- 39:12Speaker 5: the biggest dilemma of your life. If you haven't already
- 39:14Speaker 5: with the cell phone, because he's at that age. And
- 39:17Speaker 5: I know I say at that age, you think it's
- 39:19Speaker 5: extremely young eight, but I'm telling you right now, nine
- 39:22Speaker 5: years old, 10 years old kids have phones. Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 1: My oldest, Chris, I gave him a cell phone at 8.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Really?
- 39:28Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 3: Okay. I mean, a safety device or like a kid-friendly phone. Yeah,
- 39:33Speaker 3: like we're thinking about getting him like the Wi-Fi phone
- 39:35Speaker 3: just so he can call with his cousin because they
- 39:37Speaker 3: like to FaceTime now. She's in San Francisco.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:40Speaker 3: So, but a cell phone? No, we're not doing that.
- 39:42Speaker 5: Yeah. Okay.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Not soon.
- 39:43Speaker 6: Not soon.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Well, I don't think what you're doing is bad. I
- 39:46Speaker 5: think you know your kids better than anybody, and I
- 39:48Speaker 5: can't tell you what to do and what not to do.
- 39:50Speaker 5: I don't think it's going to— I mean, it's definitely not going.
- 39:52Speaker 1: To hurt them.
- 39:53Speaker 3: No.
- 39:54Speaker 1: No, but they're going to grow up and find out, oh,
- 39:56Speaker 1: Mom and Daddy really had money.
- 39:57Speaker 5: No, and I think they might go, hey, I'm glad
- 40:00Speaker 5: that you did that because, look— I mean— Yeah. And as
- 40:03Speaker 5: the kids get older and they develop more of their
- 40:05Speaker 5: personalities and you see, you might adjust that plan a
- 40:07Speaker 5: little bit here and there. But, I mean, I understand— Yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 3: No, I understand, too. And no one wants to be
- 40:13Speaker 3: a spoiled brat.
- 40:14Speaker 5: No, and I spoil my kid too much sometimes, and
- 40:16Speaker 5: I know I do.
- 40:16Speaker 6: Same.
- 40:16Speaker 3: I'm trying not to.
- 40:18Speaker 5: I know I do sometimes, and I'm like, no.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Because we have one. Yeah, exactly.
- 40:21Speaker 5: I have one kid.
- 40:22Speaker 3: He doesn't have to share. I don't have to buy two.
- 40:24Speaker 1: I don't spoil mine. Yeah. No, you don't. I tell them,
- 40:29Speaker 1: get what you get. Don't pitch a fit. Yeah. That's
- 40:31Speaker 1: what I tell them.
- 40:32Speaker 5: Okay. And then you hit them?
- 40:33Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 40:35Speaker 5: And then you make them go pick out their own Switch?
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:37Speaker 3: No way.
- 40:39Speaker 5: Welcome to Pooh's Little House on the Prairie. Well, thank
- 40:42Speaker 5: you so much for your secret. I love that you called,
- 40:45Speaker 5: and good luck with everything. You sound like good parents,
- 40:47Speaker 5: so do your thing.
- 40:47Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 40:48Speaker 5: I mean, it's kind of a luxury. If you're pretending
- 40:50Speaker 5: to be poor and you're not actually poor, that's kind
- 40:53Speaker 5: of a luxury in 2026. All right.
- 40:57Speaker 4: It's time for Candace Court. It gets settled here with
- 41:01Speaker 4: Billy the Kid.
- 41:02Speaker 1: In the morning.
- 41:03Speaker 5: All rise for the Honorable Judge Candace Lopez on Mix 102.9.
- 41:06Speaker 5: Welcome to Candace Court. Why did I just get so nervous,
- 41:10Speaker 5: by the way?
- 41:11Speaker 3: Because of the Rangers game?
- 41:12Speaker 5: I just remembered that I'm throwing out the first pitch today.
- 41:15Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 41:15Speaker 5: And I got so nervous.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to be fine. You'll be good.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah, you got this.
- 41:18Speaker 5: Like, I have a stomachache, nervous. Oh, no. And it's
- 41:21Speaker 5: only because my hand's broken. I got to throw it opposite-handed. Right.
- 41:23Speaker 5: Did you tell Tyler the Rangers that?
- 41:26Speaker 6: What?
- 41:26Speaker 5: Uh, yeah.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. What do you mean, what?
- 41:33Speaker 5: He knows.
- 41:34Speaker 3: He listens.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Okay. Well, if you're going in and I mess up
- 41:37Speaker 5: and I accidentally hit a kid on the sidelines or something.
- 41:40Speaker 5: It's fine. I just have a feeling I have no
- 41:42Speaker 5: accuracy with this other opposite hand.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Right.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Okay. Anyway.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You did good yesterday practicing.
- 41:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I was throwing an orange 10 feet.
- 41:48Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Because I didn't have a baseball. And then I broke
- 41:50Speaker 5: the orange on the wall at the radio station. And
- 41:53Speaker 5: that's on Instagram. And then we got yelled at. It
- 41:55Speaker 5: was an all-staff email. Don't throw fruit in the hallway.
- 41:57Speaker 1: I know. Can't have fun.
- 41:58Speaker 5: Welcome to the no fun zone.
- 42:00Speaker 1: All right.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Candice Court is on. If you have an issue, some
- 42:03Speaker 5: kind of problem you want Candice to solve, at Candice
- 42:05Speaker 5: on air on Instagram, at Candice on air. Are you
- 42:07Speaker 5: ready for today's case?
- 42:08Speaker 7: Yep.
- 42:09Speaker 5: I need an opinion on or three on an issue
- 42:13Speaker 5: I'm having this week with my sister. She is in
- 42:15Speaker 5: between rental homes for a few days and asked if
- 42:18Speaker 5: she could stay with me in my one bedroom apartment
- 42:20Speaker 5: until she's able to move on Friday. I agreed to
- 42:23Speaker 5: let her stay on my couch. And since I already
- 42:25Speaker 5: know that she is very sensitive to noise, I reminded
- 42:29Speaker 5: her to bring earplugs. Well, last night around 10, she
- 42:34Speaker 5: told me that she could hear my TV and that
- 42:37Speaker 5: she was trying to go to sleep. I already had
- 42:40Speaker 5: the volume lower than normal to accommodate her, and she
- 42:43Speaker 5: said I should either.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Shut my door or turn off the TV.
- 42:46Speaker 6: Ooh.
- 42:48Speaker 5: I told her I was planning to go to sleep
- 42:50Speaker 5: by 11 and asked if she was wearing her earplugs.
- 42:55Speaker 5: She said no because she doesn't like to sleep with them.
- 42:58Speaker 5: This is such a sister fight. I know. I explained
- 43:01Speaker 5: to her that I cannot shut my door because my
- 43:04Speaker 5: cat needs in and out. Ugh. Ew. By the way, Pooh,
- 43:08Speaker 5: I'm getting a lot of hate emails about you and
- 43:10Speaker 5: DMs about you.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Me?
- 43:11Speaker 5: And cats.
- 43:12Speaker 6: Oh, wow.
- 43:13Speaker 5: We'll get into that later.
- 43:14Speaker 1: Uh-oh.
- 43:15Speaker 5: She said we got into an argument and I told
- 43:17Speaker 5: her she could go get a hotel.
- 43:18Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 43:19Speaker 5: Go. She got silent and so did I at that point.
- 43:24Speaker 5: As my guest, was she wrong or was I? We're
- 43:28Speaker 5: not speaking right now.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 43:31Speaker 5: Wow. Okay. This is a silly fight, but Candace Lopez.
- 43:34Speaker 3: It is, yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Should someone have to.
- 43:36Speaker 3: But when you're tired, though, when everybody's tired, it makes
- 43:40Speaker 3: things amplified. You know, fights just get amplified big time.
- 43:44Speaker 5: So she's in a one-bedroom apartment. Her sister's staying with her.
- 43:47Speaker 5: She's on the couch. She's in her bedroom with her
- 43:49Speaker 5: TV on. And her sister's like, I can't sleep with
- 43:51Speaker 5: the TV on.
- 43:52Speaker 6: Right.
- 43:52Speaker 3: This is such a sister thing, which I don't have
- 43:54Speaker 3: a sister. But, you know, I think because it is
- 43:57Speaker 3: your sister, you feel like you can do just whatever
- 43:59Speaker 3: you want. But if this were anyone else, I feel
- 44:01Speaker 3: like you'd be a little more accommodating. You know what
- 44:03Speaker 3: I mean?
- 44:04Speaker 5: But it's not.
- 44:05Speaker 3: No, it's not.
- 44:06Speaker 5: And you're letting her stay with you. And I'm sorry,
- 44:08Speaker 5: but if I want my TV on, I'm going to
- 44:10Speaker 5: have my TV on. No.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's also the light from your TV, you know,
- 44:14Speaker 3: that shines out.
- 44:15Speaker 5: I cannot stand people like this.
- 44:16Speaker 3: Like what?
- 44:17Speaker 1: You know what? Sleep.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Just shut up and sleep.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It's not that easy.
- 44:22Speaker 5: You're not really tired then. Because I'm telling you. I
- 44:25Speaker 5: dated a girl that if the DVD player light was on,
- 44:29Speaker 5: she'd be like, oh my God, that is blinding. And
- 44:32Speaker 5: I'm like, what? It is pretty bright. Can you unplug
- 44:36Speaker 5: the DVD player?
- 44:37Speaker 3: Some of them are bright, though. Like you need to
- 44:39Speaker 3: put a piece of tape over that light or a
- 44:40Speaker 3: blanket or something.
- 44:41Speaker 5: You know what I did with her? I said, close
- 44:43Speaker 5: your eyes.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Tell me when I unplug it.
- 44:45Speaker 7: No.
- 44:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:46Speaker 5: Tell me when I unplug it. She couldn't tell you? No,
- 44:48Speaker 5: of course not. Because it was all in her head.
- 44:51Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 5: You can't see with your eyes closed.
- 44:54Speaker 3: No, but light still comes in. You can tell.
- 44:56Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Close your eyes.
- 44:58Speaker 3: Can you tell the lights are on?
- 44:59Speaker 6: No.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Can you tell the sun is out?
- 45:02Speaker 1: Where's the sun?
- 45:03Speaker 5: No, I couldn't even tell you where it's at.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Oh, come on.
- 45:05Speaker 5: You can see it. You are so dramatic. Listen, I
- 45:07Speaker 5: can sleep through TV. I'll go to sleep in the movies.
- 45:11Speaker 5: I'll sleep anywhere. Listen, when you get up and we do,
- 45:13Speaker 5: you'll sleep.
- 45:14Speaker 3: Right, right.
- 45:15Speaker 5: Someone could be right next to me breathing in my ear,
- 45:18Speaker 5: and I'd sleep.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but it's hard to sleep with earplugs, too. Like,
- 45:22Speaker 3: they poke your ear, like if you're a side sleeper.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I'm scared they'd go way up there. I mean, as
- 45:27Speaker 1: the host, you've got to accommodate your even family. You
- 45:29Speaker 1: have to.
- 45:30Speaker 5: It's funny coming from someone who's never invited anybody to
- 45:33Speaker 5: their house. Never offered anybody to stay. I'd be homeless
- 45:36Speaker 5: in Poole. Like, man, I hope you figure it out.
- 45:38Speaker 1: No, I would let you stay on my couch.
- 45:41Speaker 5: For real. I don't even know if you have a couch.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Oh, I do.
- 45:43Speaker 5: Remember, you do know.
- 45:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember he unpacked it the other day.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I got a new one from Wayfair. Shout out Wayfair. Yeah.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it turns into a bed. A queen.
- 45:52Speaker 5: Someone's acting different after all these Chipotle endorsements. Someone's over
- 45:59Speaker 5: here flaunting.
- 45:59Speaker 1: Their new futon.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah, but if you had someone sleeping on your couch
- 46:03Speaker 3: in the living room, you would shut your door. Or
- 46:05Speaker 3: you would turn the volume down or whatever.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Would you turn the TV off in your room?
- 46:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I would.
- 46:09Speaker 5: I would.
- 46:10Speaker 10: I would.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Okay. Matter of fact, I had my little sister. She
- 46:14Speaker 1: spent the night one time because her AC was out.
- 46:17Speaker 1: And my sister's really picky. She has to have all
- 46:20Speaker 1: this stuff. And I was like, okay, whatever. Whatever you want, Morgan.
- 46:24Speaker 5: And I did it. Good for you.
- 46:26Speaker 3: That's nice.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Well, because I'm scared of her.
- 46:27Speaker 5: But anyway.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. All right.
- 46:30Speaker 5: What do you think? Candace, I bet you you're one
- 46:33Speaker 5: of those sleepers that can't sleep with one little light on.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Sometimes. It depends. On the weekends, I could. On the weeknights, no.
- 46:39Speaker 3: I have a hard time sleeping.
- 46:40Speaker 5: I can imagine. Poor Eric. I can imagine. Babe, the
- 46:43Speaker 5: neighbor three streets away has his porch light on. And
- 46:46Speaker 5: it's gleaming through the bedroom. Is there any way you
- 46:49Speaker 5: can go... on the Nextdoor app and tell them.
- 46:51Speaker 7: To turn it off.
- 46:52Speaker 6: Oh, my gosh.
- 46:53Speaker 3: That is not accurate at all.
- 46:54Speaker 5: What is the verdict, Candace?
- 46:55Speaker 3: I think you're guilty of being a bed and breakfast Becky.
- 46:58Speaker 6: Oh!
- 46:58Speaker 1: Be cool.
- 47:01Speaker 3: Help a sister out.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Let me watch TV. I want to watch my programs.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Well, I know you do, but just don't watch them
- 47:07Speaker 3: this late or that loud or that bright.
- 47:09Speaker 5: All right, turn the TV off. I'm not the judge.
- 47:11Speaker 5: She is guilty of being a.
- 47:12Speaker 3: A bed and breakfast Becky.
- 47:15Speaker 4: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 47:18Speaker 4: Kid in the morning.
- 47:19Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Got Usher and Chris Brown tickets coming up next. If
- 47:24Speaker 5: you want those, we do it on the 10s pretty
- 47:25Speaker 5: much every hour all day, so listen to win. Candace Lopez,
- 47:28Speaker 5: what is up?
- 47:28Speaker 3: Well, Tropical Storm Edouard continues to weaken this morning after
- 47:32Speaker 3: making landfall off the south Texas coast yesterday. It's now
- 47:35Speaker 3: been downgraded to a tropical depression, but it is bringing
- 47:39Speaker 3: heavy rain with it as it moves inland just northeast
- 47:42Speaker 3: of Houston. So these bands of rain will start to
- 47:44Speaker 3: make their way Close to the Metroplex. Our best chance
- 47:47Speaker 3: for rain is tonight and tomorrow. Slight chances today that
- 47:51Speaker 3: you could see just a stray storm. But look at
- 47:54Speaker 3: the height tomorrow, 88.
- 47:55Speaker 5: I know. I'm almost too excited. I don't want to
- 47:58Speaker 5: get my hopes up for that because I'm so excited
- 48:00Speaker 5: for it because I just want some clouds. Even if
- 48:02Speaker 5: we don't get rain.
- 48:03Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 5: Can we just get some clouds?
- 48:04Speaker 3: We should get some clouds. That's going to keep the
- 48:06Speaker 3: temperature down.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Okay, good. If it doesn't make it to 90, I'm
- 48:09Speaker 5: getting out my winter coat. I'm putting up Halloween decorations.
- 48:12Speaker 6: Okay.
- 48:12Speaker 3: I mean, a lot of people do September 1st now
- 48:15Speaker 3: because they're just so excited.
- 48:16Speaker 5: They really do. That's aggressive, but I'm not mad at it.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Yeah, same.
- 48:19Speaker 5: One of my neighbors already has Halloween decorations up.
- 48:21Speaker 6: Do they?
- 48:22Speaker 3: Is that the one with the skelly?
- 48:24Speaker 5: Yes, they already have Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Really?
- 48:27Speaker 5: Oh, just half the store is already Christmas.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Oh, wow. Too soon.
- 48:32Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 48:32Speaker 5: I kind of like seeing it.
- 48:34Speaker 3: And let's wait till October, November for me.
- 48:36Speaker 5: Okay. Yeah.
- 48:37Speaker 3: Guys, Tony Romo pleaded no contest in his drunk driving
- 48:41Speaker 3: case yesterday in Wisconsin. So he is going to have
- 48:44Speaker 3: his license suspended for six months. He will also have
- 48:47Speaker 3: to attend an alcohol assessment program. And then on top
- 48:50Speaker 3: of that, he's going to have to have one of
- 48:51Speaker 3: those breathalyzers in his car and he'll pay a fine.
- 48:55Speaker 3: So yeah, Tony in court yesterday.
- 48:57Speaker 5: Yeah, he's not driving anytime soon.
- 48:59Speaker 3: No, he did post a pretty long statement. calling his
- 49:02Speaker 3: arrest a personal failure he owns up to completely. And
- 49:06Speaker 3: then he went on to explain that multiple back surgeries
- 49:09Speaker 3: from football injuries left him dependent on the pain meds,
- 49:12Speaker 3: and that's what led him to self-medicating with alcohol as
- 49:15Speaker 3: he was tapering off of those. But he says he
- 49:18Speaker 3: is working with the team of doctors. to address his
- 49:20Speaker 3: health and make the necessary changes. But yeah, I didn't
- 49:24Speaker 3: expect that really long post from him yesterday.
- 49:26Speaker 5: Yeah, well, and I'm glad I got to say hi
- 49:28Speaker 5: to Aaron because I'm glad I'm not the only one.
- 49:30Speaker 5: I talked about this earlier, but I went on a
- 49:32Speaker 5: date one time, a first date, and the girl asked
- 49:34Speaker 5: me to blow into her device so she could drive. Jeez.
- 49:37Speaker 5: This was back in the day, and I was like, wait,
- 49:39Speaker 5: what do you mean? And she's like, hi, guys. Just
- 49:42Speaker 5: blowing it so I can start my car.
- 49:44Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 49:44Speaker 5: And Erin called me and said she had a guy
- 49:46Speaker 5: do the same thing on a date back in the day.
- 49:48Speaker 10: Yes.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Wow. You can't do that.
- 49:51Speaker 5: Right. That's awful. Yeah. And I didn't do it. But
- 49:54Speaker 5: now I think there's a way to make sure that
- 49:56Speaker 5: it's you doing it.
- 49:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 49:58Speaker 5: I don't know for sure.
- 49:58Speaker 3: Yeah, there's got to be like a fingerprint thing or
- 50:01Speaker 3: a face recognition or something.
- 50:03Speaker 5: Yeah, but people find a way around things, so hopefully
- 50:06Speaker 5: he learned his lesson.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. Guys, the new cast of Dancing with
- 50:10Speaker 3: the Stars was just announced. I'm actually excited about this season.
- 50:14Speaker 3: The season 35 cast includes Julia Stiles, one of my
- 50:18Speaker 3: favorite actresses. Jenna Dewan, I know, Pooh, you're a fan.
- 50:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I know Jenna.
- 50:23Speaker 3: She's from Grapevine.
- 50:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:25Speaker 1: I know Jenna. I do.
- 50:26Speaker 3: Do you know Jenna?
- 50:27Speaker 1: Yeah, back in the day, she went to Collierville, yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 5: So if we called her right now, we're like, No,
- 50:31Speaker 5: she wouldn't remember me like that. But then do you
- 50:33Speaker 5: know her?
- 50:34Speaker 1: I mean... I know.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Her, too, then.
- 50:39Speaker 3: A lot of people around town know Jenna, for sure.
- 50:42Speaker 5: She's awesome.
- 50:42Speaker 1: That's your crush, for sure. Yeah, she's good people, though.
- 50:46Speaker 1: I actually heard Marty Koudelka, who used to choreograph for
- 50:50Speaker 1: Justin Timberlake. We all used to hang out.
- 50:52Speaker 5: Oh, that's right.
- 50:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you guys were all dancers.
- 50:55Speaker 1: I tried to be a dancer, but it didn't last.
- 50:58Speaker 5: I forgot you were a dancer, actually.
- 50:59Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:59Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 51:00Speaker 5: Do you know Pooh was in the background of the
- 51:02Speaker 5: Ice Ice Baby video?
- 51:03Speaker 3: Well, he auditioned, right?
- 51:05Speaker 5: I thought you made it.
- 51:05Speaker 1: No, I didn't make it.
- 51:06Speaker 5: All these years I thought you made it and you didn't?
- 51:08Speaker 1: No, I told you I didn't make it. Yeah, I win.
- 51:10Speaker 3: No, he said he auditioned.
- 51:11Speaker 5: Oh, I thought you were the backup to the backup.
- 51:16Speaker 5: Also on the show.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Guys, Tatiana Ali, Taylor Hansen, Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn.
- 51:22Speaker 3: She's from the Metroplex, so excited to see her. Yeah,
- 51:25Speaker 3: they're going to have a two-night premiere Tuesday, September 15th
- 51:28Speaker 3: and September 16th. It'll air live on ABC and Disney +.
- 51:33Speaker 3: So there you go. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your
- 51:35Speaker 3: Texas Top Stories.
- 51:36Speaker 2: The new Mix 102.9.
- 51:40Speaker 5: Oh, that's a hot take.
- 51:41Speaker 6: Let us know what you think.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Here's today's hot take.
- 51:44Speaker 5: Mix 102.9. It's Bailey the Kid, Candice Lopez, and Producer Pooh.
- 51:47Speaker 5: We got tickets to go see Usher and Chris Brown
- 51:50Speaker 5: on the 10s pretty much every hour, all day. So
- 51:52Speaker 5: if you want to win, we'll do that again soon.
- 51:54Speaker 5: Make sure you listen. And it's a shot to get
- 51:55Speaker 5: on that VIP riser, which is, I mean, it's pretty
- 51:59Speaker 5: much a freaky little platform that they have. That's what
- 52:03Speaker 5: I'm going to call it because it's caused a lot
- 52:05Speaker 5: of controversy, this VIP riser at this show. Yes, put
- 52:09Speaker 5: this music on because that's what happens. Okay. Usher gets
- 52:13Speaker 5: on this VIP riser, and if you're up there, there's
- 52:14Speaker 5: a good chance he might get on you.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Oh, it's like a club-inspired, like, elevated standing spot.
- 52:21Speaker 5: It's caused about a divorce a week, one to two
- 52:24Speaker 5: divorces every show. Because a woman gets up there and then,
- 52:27Speaker 5: you know, her boyfriend or husband's in the crowd. They
- 52:29Speaker 5: get in a fight because Chris Brown gets on there
- 52:31Speaker 5: and just does his thing.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Oh, and there's a VIP bar up there?
- 52:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Okay, now it's making sense.
- 52:36Speaker 5: You're having a few drinks. All of a sudden, Chris
- 52:38Speaker 5: Brown's on you.
- 52:39Speaker 3: What in the world? It happens.
- 52:42Speaker 5: It happens before you know it. I've been there and
- 52:45Speaker 5: you're like, Chris, get off me. Get off me, Chris.
- 52:49Speaker 5: But either way, some ladies would love that. And if
- 52:51Speaker 5: that's you and you want a shot at this, make
- 52:53Speaker 5: sure you listen on the 10s every hour. We're hooking
- 52:56Speaker 5: that up. So, all right. Hot take of the day.
- 52:59Speaker 5: We got in a big debate about this because, well,
- 53:01Speaker 5: I read this story and it freaked me out because,
- 53:04Speaker 5: you know, I'm not really scared of a lot of things.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Not that I'm the toughest guy in the world, but
- 53:08Speaker 5: I'm paranoid, but I'm paranoid about other stuff.
- 53:11Speaker 10: Right.
- 53:12Speaker 5: And I keep an eye out on things, but there's
- 53:14Speaker 5: certain things that I'm just not accustomed to. Like, I
- 53:16Speaker 5: didn't grow up in the country. I didn't grow up,
- 53:18Speaker 5: you know, with a bunch of animals around me. The
- 53:20Speaker 5: first time I saw a cow, I think, was in
- 53:22Speaker 5: the zoo.
- 53:23Speaker 3: Yeah, weird.
- 53:24Speaker 5: A wild cow.
- 53:25Speaker 3: Never seen a cow in the zoo.
- 53:27Speaker 5: Well, you didn't grow up in Detroit.
- 53:29Speaker 3: No.
- 53:29Speaker 5: Where else would I see them?
- 53:30Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 5: You know, you had to go to a petting zoo to.
- 53:32Speaker 1: See, like, a cow.
- 53:33Speaker 3: I guess so.
- 53:34Speaker 5: I'm not going to see one in downtown Detroit or,
- 53:36Speaker 5: you know, whatever. So anyway, I just didn't see a
- 53:40Speaker 5: lot of this stuff. So sometimes the thought of an
- 53:41Speaker 5: animal attack freaks me out. Like, I'm scared of bears.
- 53:44Speaker 5: And then I saw this story that happened in Lake
- 53:47Speaker 5: Tahoe where this woman got attacked by like viciously attacked
- 53:52Speaker 5: by a river otter.
- 53:53Speaker 3: A river otter?
- 53:56Speaker 5: Have you seen this?
- 53:57Speaker 6: No.
- 53:57Speaker 5: And I'm like, new fear unlocked.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Oh, God. New fear unlocked. A river otter.
- 54:02Speaker 5: As much as I'm on Lake Louisville, I have a
- 54:05Speaker 5: feeling it's going to happen to me.
- 54:07Speaker 3: Oh, they look so cute.
- 54:08Speaker 5: Oh, don't. Don't think they're cute. This woman is doing
- 54:12Speaker 5: this video. She's a swim instructor. She's swimming and doing
- 54:15Speaker 5: her thing. All of a sudden, she's just getting viciously
- 54:18Speaker 5: attacked by a river otter.
- 54:19Speaker 3: She got 38 stitches?
- 54:21Speaker 5: 38 stitches.
- 54:22Speaker 6: Wow.
- 54:23Speaker 5: Barely survived.
- 54:25Speaker 3: He looks cute.
- 54:27Speaker 5: Imagine if you got taken out by a river otter.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:31Speaker 5: I'm going to lie and say it was a bear.
- 54:34Speaker 5: You have to.
- 54:34Speaker 1: You can't go out like that.
- 54:36Speaker 5: Either way, thank God she's okay. But yeah, she almost died. Wow.
- 54:39Speaker 3: Poor thing.
- 54:40Speaker 5: No, I felt awful. I mean, there's blood all over her.
- 54:42Speaker 5: She's all messed up and they don't know why. And
- 54:45Speaker 5: I think obviously that River otter had rabies or something.
- 54:48Speaker 3: Got her face, too?
- 54:50Speaker 5: I don't know if they can get rabies. Oh, yeah,
- 54:51Speaker 5: she's bleeding on her face. She's got her swim goggles off.
- 54:53Speaker 5: She's like, I was just swimming, and all of a
- 54:55Speaker 5: sudden I just felt this pain. And this river otter
- 54:58Speaker 5: swam up under her and just got her, started biting her,
- 55:00Speaker 5: chomping her, clawing her. I mean, it was crazy. So
- 55:03Speaker 5: this is what it leads me to, this conversation right here,
- 55:06Speaker 5: hot take of the day.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 5: What animal, what's the biggest or most ferocious animal you
- 55:11Speaker 5: think you could fight with your bare hands and win?
- 55:15Speaker 5: I'm going to ask everyone in the room this question.
- 55:17Speaker 5: What animal, the biggest, most ferocious one you think you
- 55:20Speaker 5: could beat in a fight and survive?
- 55:21Speaker 3: House cat.
- 55:23Speaker 5: Candace is a house cat.
- 55:24Speaker 3: They're agile, but they like to sleep a lot. Okay.
- 55:29Speaker 5: I don't know if I'd consider a house cat. A
- 55:33Speaker 5: ferocious large animal?
- 55:34Speaker 3: Sometimes they can be fat cats. Yeah, mean fat cats.
- 55:38Speaker 5: I'm going to tell you right now, our boss Zant
- 55:40Speaker 5: has a cat named Steve. Yeah. Steve would destroy you. Yeah,
- 55:44Speaker 5: he would. If he wanted to, he weighs more than you.
- 55:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's sweet, though.
- 55:48Speaker 5: I think he's sweet, too. But if you got him mad,
- 55:50Speaker 5: like if you took away his food. Oh, yeah.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 55:52Speaker 5: If you went when he was mid-snack.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I might need to rethink this.
- 55:56Speaker 5: He would destroy your face. You think that River Otter
- 55:59Speaker 5: was bad?
- 55:59Speaker 1: Yeah, Steve ain't Garfield.
- 56:01Speaker 5: Steve, no. Okay, so you're saying house cat.
- 56:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:05Speaker 5: All right. Pooh, let me ask you, because sometimes Pooh
- 56:07Speaker 5: has an elevated confidence when it comes to this. Yeah.
- 56:10Speaker 5: And I don't know why, because he didn't grow up
- 56:12Speaker 5: in the country either.
- 56:13Speaker 1: No, no.
- 56:14Speaker 5: But you were more country than I was.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I was.
- 56:17Speaker 5: What animal, what big, ferocious animal do you think you
- 56:20Speaker 5: could actually win in a fight with your bare hands?
- 56:22Speaker 1: I think I could take a koala.
- 56:25Speaker 6: Oh.
- 56:25Speaker 3: Okay. I love koalas.
- 56:27Speaker 1: A koala? Yeah, I think I could. Are they mean? Yes,
- 56:31Speaker 1: they are.
- 56:32Speaker 5: I'm assuming. Have you ever seen them?
- 56:34Speaker 1: They look just slow. I think I could take them.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they look sloppy.
- 56:38Speaker 5: They do, but have you seen their claws?
- 56:41Speaker 3: Oh, they're territorial. Yeah.
- 56:42Speaker 5: Yeah. Their claws are about seven inches long.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I ain't never seen a mad koala, so I just
- 56:47Speaker 1: think I could- Because.
- 56:48Speaker 5: You've never seen a koala.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I mean, I've seen it on TV, you know what
- 56:51Speaker 1: I'm saying, or in a zoo.
- 56:52Speaker 5: I think I could take one if I was just like-
- 56:54Speaker 5: I don't think so. God bless you, Candace. Trapped in
- 56:56Speaker 5: the outback. She's allergic to lies, obviously.
- 56:59Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 56:59Speaker 5: She can sneeze.
- 57:01Speaker 6: Okay.
- 57:01Speaker 5: You think a koala. Yeah, yeah. I think you would
- 57:04Speaker 5: get destroyed by a koala.
- 57:05Speaker 1: I'd just punch it in his big old nose.
- 57:06Speaker 5: Bam.
- 57:08Speaker 2: Aw. No?
- 57:08Speaker 5: That's rude.
- 57:09Speaker 3: But they might latch onto you like they do the trees.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 57:12Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah. It's getting your legs look like trees.
- 57:15Speaker 1: You know what I'm thinking?
- 57:17Speaker 5: I'm thinking at first I have to change mine because
- 57:19Speaker 5: at first I thought, you know what? If I had
- 57:20Speaker 5: to take one animal, I think I would be able
- 57:22Speaker 5: to fight a small chimpanzee. Okay. You know?
- 57:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:25Speaker 5: I feel like if I got a hold of one,
- 57:27Speaker 5: I could take its back into a rear naked choke.
- 57:30Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 57:30Speaker 1: A what?
- 57:31Speaker 5: A rear naked choke.
- 57:32Speaker 3: What is that?
- 57:33Speaker 1: That's a jujitsu move.
- 57:34Speaker 5: I think I could get one.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Rear naked choke?
- 57:37Speaker 5: Yeah. I would have clothes on. It's just what it's called.
- 57:39Speaker 6: Okay.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 57:39Speaker 5: That was weird.
- 57:40Speaker 6: Wow.
- 57:42Speaker 5: I'm not getting naked.
- 57:42Speaker 1: How do you practice that?
- 57:45Speaker 5: Anyway, the point is, I think I could take it.
- 57:46Speaker 5: Then I read that they go for your eyes and
- 57:49Speaker 5: your private parts.
- 57:51Speaker 7: Oh.
- 57:51Speaker 5: So I cancel that.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Cancel that.
- 57:54Speaker 5: And I think I could take alligator.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Alligator?
- 57:57Speaker 5: Oh, my God. I think I could. An alligator? I
- 58:04Speaker 5: genuinely think if I had to fight an alligator, there's
- 58:06Speaker 5: a technique to it. And I see people do it
- 58:08Speaker 5: on Instagram.
- 58:08Speaker 1: They do those death rolls? You're done.
- 58:11Speaker 5: But I'm saying they wouldn't get a chance to do
- 58:13Speaker 5: a death roll. How is that? Because you sneak up
- 58:15Speaker 5: behind it, jump on its back, and close its mouth.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Because they have all the power of chomping down. They
- 58:21Speaker 5: can't open their mouth. I think I.
- 58:23Speaker 3: Just sit on their mouth?
- 58:24Speaker 5: No, not their mouth on their back.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Sit on their... Well, I mean, so that you can
- 58:27Speaker 3: keep their mouth closed?
- 58:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:29Speaker 3: So they can't open it?
- 58:31Speaker 6: Yes.
- 58:31Speaker 5: And then if I had duct tape, I'd tape the mouth.
- 58:33Speaker 1: So you do this outside the water. You can't get
- 58:36Speaker 1: on their back if they're in the water.
- 58:38Speaker 3: They're kind of fast, right?
- 58:39Speaker 1: Yeah, they are.
- 58:39Speaker 5: Yeah, but I wouldn't race it. I'm not trying to
- 58:41Speaker 5: race it. I would jump on a tree and then
- 58:44Speaker 5: surprise attack it.
- 58:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 58:46Speaker 5: I think that's the best route.
- 58:47Speaker 1: You're jumping from a tree on an alligator's back.
- 58:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 58:51Speaker 3: Are they slippery? Like when you land, are you going
- 58:53Speaker 3: to land solid?
- 58:54Speaker 1: They're scaly.
- 58:56Speaker 3: I think they're slippery.
- 58:58Speaker 5: I think they're sticky.
- 58:59Speaker 3: Oh, you think you're just going to stick?
- 59:00Speaker 5: They're scaly.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Good grip.
- 59:01Speaker 5: Yeah, once I climb the tree and surprise attack it,
- 59:04Speaker 5: yeah then I'll just grab its mouth and what it's
- 59:06Speaker 5: gonna do if it doesn't have a mouth what I
- 59:08Speaker 5: mean their arms are two inches long right what's it
- 59:10Speaker 5: gonna do fight me with its little stubby arms.
- 59:12Speaker 3: Well can their tail go up and down or does
- 59:14Speaker 3: it just go like left and right.
- 59:15Speaker 5: I think it just goes left and right okay it's
- 59:18Speaker 5: not a big deal If it's a six-foot alley, over
- 59:21Speaker 5: six feet, I.
- 59:22Speaker 1: Don't want to fight him. Right, but under six feet,
- 59:24Speaker 1: you got it all day.
- 59:25Speaker 5: I'll tell you what animal I would rather fight an
- 59:27Speaker 5: alligator than the one animal I'm actually scared of, even
- 59:30Speaker 5: though it shouldn't be scary. Is there an animal you
- 59:32Speaker 5: shouldn't be scared of that you're scared of?
- 59:34Speaker 3: Probably.
- 59:35Speaker 5: Mine is an emu.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. They got an attitude.
- 59:39Speaker 5: No, I got attacked by one at Fossil Ridge.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. I remember hearing about that. Do you remember that?
- 59:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 59:46Speaker 3: Came into your car.
- 59:47Speaker 6: What happened?
- 59:48Speaker 5: You know how they give you the bag of food
- 59:49Speaker 5: to feed it? Yeah. This emu came in and I
- 59:52Speaker 5: made the awful mistake of putting the feed, you know,
- 59:55Speaker 5: the food. Where would you put it?
- 59:57Speaker 3: Yeah, right in your lap.
- 59:58Speaker 5: Right in your lap.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Of course.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: And I got attacked by an emu in the crotch.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: He went right for the food, which happened to be there.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: And I've never felt the same.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Did you roll your window up?
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Are you traumatized?
- 1:00:17Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Yeah, I did. But then his neck was caught in it,
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: so I didn't want to kill it.
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: Was he just pecking you?
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: No. Oh, yeah.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: No.
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: Then I don't know how, but he opened the door.
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: No.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Wait, he opened the door?
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: Okay, maybe not.
- 1:00:29Speaker 6: No.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Kid in the Morning.
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9. We've got a.
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: Chance to see Usher and Chris Brown. Tickets coming up next,
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: so make sure you listen. Doing it on the 10s
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: all day long. Candace Lopez, what's up?
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Well, a North Texas couple is going to federal prison
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: after pleading guilty in a wire fraud case involving fake
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: custom home projects. According to court records, the couple defrauded
- 1:00:55Speaker 3: more than 40 people from six different counties here in
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: the Metroplex. I guess this happened over the course of
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: about three years. So they were basically offering to do
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: custom home projects well below market price. And then, you know,
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: after they'd get a few payments from these people, they
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: just abandoned the projects or just not do any of
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: the work that they promised. The guy involved in this
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: did admit that he was in fact not a licensed
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: architect like he told these people he was, but this
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: involved at least 24 different construction projects and around $ 4. 2
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: million in losses for these victims. Their defense attorneys claimed
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: that their business started out as an honest business, but
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: because of struggles with the pandemic, they made a series
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: of poor decisions. Obviously, the other side says, no, this
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: was very intentional. And some of these victims were in
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: court yesterday, too, to see, you know, how this is
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: going to unfold.
- 1:01:46Speaker 5: You know what you're doing. You're ripping multiple people. This
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: wasn't like, I don't know what happened. We, you know, oh,
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: one bad quote. And we just accidentally took more money.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: You're doing this.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Over and over again.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. And we mentioned this on Monday. Miley Cyrus
- 1:01:59Speaker 3: changed her Instagram handle to just say Miley. And now
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: we have her new album announcement. It came out yesterday.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: So the album is called Bass Persuades. It's going to
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: be out September 18th. This will be her 10th studio album.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: Miley also announced two shows at the Hollywood Bowl coming
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: up in October. Yeah, it didn't take long. You know,
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: the change happened and the announcement came. Sometimes it takes
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: weeks and these artists like clean their Instagram and start
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: over and we just wait and wonder.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: I like when they do that when they just make
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: the announcement and the album comes. Yeah.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. A couple of weeks from now, guys, Netflix
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: is now streaming a documentary about Australian Olympic break dancer
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Rachel Raygun Gunn. The show is called Raygun Breaking Badly,
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: and the documentary details her zero point performance at the
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: 2024 Paris Olympics. And then, yeah, all the backlash that
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: came after it.
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: I kind of felt bad about that. But, I mean,
- 1:02:53Speaker 5: she was so viral. And, you know, she thought she
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: was killing it.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Zero points.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: And she was, though, killing it in her own way.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: For sure. I mean, it was entertaining, which at the
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: end of the day, is it about, like, breaking or
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: being entertaining? I guess technically breaking.
- 1:03:07Speaker 5: I think it's about breaking in the Olympics.
- 1:03:09Speaker 7: Oh.
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: But it was entertaining. But it's interesting to see a
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: documentary that follows the journey while she was going viral.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: I want to see what happened and what was going
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: through her mind.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Yeah. In the trailer, she talks about a therapy session
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: she had just before the Olympics where she was kind
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: of panicking and asked her therapist. You know, talk to
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: her about it. The therapist said, what's the worst outcome
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: from all of this? And she said the whole world
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: could laugh at me. And, you know, her therapist said,
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: do you think that's reasonable? And then it's like cuts
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: right to hysterical laughter because that's exactly what happened.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: I'd watch that.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh, no, for sure. But I don't think she
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: told her therapist, you know, I'm going to go out
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: there and do the sprinkler. I'm going to hop on.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Like a kangaroo. Like her therapist probably thought she was
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: legit doing, you know, technical dance.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: Well, hey, she did her thing. She had the confidence
- 1:03:54Speaker 5: to do it.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, she's been to the Olympics, which is
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: much more than most of us can say.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: More than I can ever say.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it's on Netflix now, guys. I'm Candace Lopez.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Those are your Texas Top Stories on Netflix.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: Get it off your chest. It's Dirty Little Secret with
- 1:04:10Speaker 4: Billy the Kid in the Morning on Mix 102.9. Brought
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: Okay, you got a secret? You want to confess? Bring
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: it on. It's Mix 102.9. Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez,
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: Producer Poo, and your confessions at 833-787-1029. No matter what
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: they are, big secret, little secret. Confess.
- 1:04:28Speaker 11: All right, so my husband and I have been lying
- 1:04:30Speaker 11: to our kids pretty much their entire lives.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: About what yeah we tell them they're.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: Poor wait seriously you tell them yeah they're poor you're
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: poor or everyone's.
- 1:04:44Speaker 7: Poor well we are poor yeah you.
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: Do but you're not poor okay what.
- 1:04:50Speaker 11: How old are they So basically, our kids are five
- 1:04:54Speaker 11: and eight.
- 1:04:54Speaker 7: We have a boy and a girl. And right now,
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: they don't really know any better.
- 1:04:58Speaker 11: But our plan is to just keep this going for
- 1:05:00Speaker 11: as long as we possibly can.
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: But the truth is, we're not poor at all.
- 1:05:05Speaker 11: But we tell them that we are.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: So, yeah. I guess why?
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: Well, okay. So here's the deal. My husband and I
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: have really good jobs. We save a ton of money.
- 1:05:16Speaker 11: We could live in, like, a bigger house, drive next
- 1:05:18Speaker 11: to our cars, buy them, like, The kids, whatever they
- 1:05:21Speaker 11: ask for, we just we choose not to because like
- 1:05:24Speaker 11: my husband and I both grew up like actually poor,
- 1:05:28Speaker 11: like times where we didn't know where our next meal
- 1:05:31Speaker 11: was going to come from. I started working when I
- 1:05:33Speaker 11: was 12. I would give my mom money to help out.
- 1:05:35Speaker 11: My husband had a very similar childhood.
- 1:05:38Speaker 7: But like even though it was hard, we both agreed
- 1:05:40Speaker 7: like it it built. You know, nothing was handed to us.
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: So we learned really.
- 1:05:47Speaker 11: Young that if you wanted something, you had to work
- 1:05:49Speaker 11: for it.
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: And like, I just feel like that's missing with a
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: lot of kids now. You know, parents give.
- 1:05:54Speaker 8: Their kids like everything they want. They constantly coddle them
- 1:05:57Speaker 8: and make sure they never, you know, feel uncomfortable. And
- 1:06:00Speaker 8: like half the kids I know don't even have chores. Like,
- 1:06:04Speaker 8: I can't believe that they expect that they'll like, eventually
- 1:06:07Speaker 8: they'll have to like.
- 1:06:08Speaker 7: Get a job and earn their own money.
- 1:06:09Speaker 11: So we just were like, you know what?
- 1:06:10Speaker 7: We're going to do things differently.
- 1:06:12Speaker 11: They have everything they need. They have a nice home.
- 1:06:15Speaker 11: They have like food and clothes and, you know, birthday presents,
- 1:06:18Speaker 11: Christmas presents, all that stuff.
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: They're taken care of.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: I was going to ask you, how poor are you?
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: We're not that poor, but we are poor.
- 1:06:25Speaker 11: They like ask for some expensive toy because like another
- 1:06:29Speaker 11: kid has it.
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: Like, sorry, no, we can't afford that is the answer.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: If they want something extra, they have chores. They can
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: earn it. They can save up for it.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: So there's a reason.
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: Yeah, totally.
- 1:06:42Speaker 5: But okay, I guess what I'm saying is, do they
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: have the other things that the other kids have? You
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: know what I mean? Or are they obviously... don't have
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: as much and that's strategic as far as on your
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: part we do.
- 1:06:55Speaker 11: Not have as much they don't have cell phones they
- 1:06:57Speaker 11: don't have video games we don't do like a bunch
- 1:07:00Speaker 11: of electronics like we just don't do that yeah i
- 1:07:02Speaker 11: mean we don't really think this is messed up because
- 1:07:05Speaker 11: like technically we are lying to the kids but like
- 1:07:07Speaker 11: we don't even buy everything we want ourselves like my
- 1:07:10Speaker 11: husband and i are like we have like a panic
- 1:07:12Speaker 11: room that's full of like nice stuff that we're not
- 1:07:14Speaker 11: sharing why would we teach our kids that they should
- 1:07:18Speaker 11: just get everything they want.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: You know what i mean That's so interesting because I
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: kind of do this to my child, too, because, yeah,
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: I could get you that, you know, but I don't.
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: But I also hear them talk about like not saying
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: we can't afford that to your kids because it gives
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: like a scarcity mindset or it teaches them, you know,
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: different things. like thoughts about money.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: That aren't healthy, which sometimes depending on the kids, I
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: don't know if that's a bad thing though, because if
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: you've ever hit rock bottom as an adult, you know,
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: you never want to be back there again. Right. So
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: you kind of put yourself in a different mindset and
- 1:07:53Speaker 5: maybe that's what it does to some kids. Like you said,
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: you grew up not well off. You were poor. You
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: had the, I got to work hard to get what
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: I want. I do see where you're coming from for sure.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Now, Candace, Enzo gets things, though.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: Yeah, no, he gets things. But, yeah, we do the
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: same thing. I put it off until Christmas. Or I
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: tell him he can earn it. He'll do chores around
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: the house or whatever. Or we're trying to teach him
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: to save. Stuff like that.
- 1:08:19Speaker 5: Now, I will say, though, you're about to run into
- 1:08:21Speaker 5: the biggest dilemma of your life. if you haven't already,
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: with the cell phone, because he's at that age. And
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: I know I say at that age. You think it's
- 1:08:29Speaker 5: extremely young, eight. But I'm telling you right now, nine
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: years old, ten years old, kids have phones.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Yeah, my oldest, Chris, I gave him a cell phone
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: at eight.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: OK, I mean, a safety device or like a kid
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: friendly phone.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: Like we're thinking about getting him like the Wi-Fi phone
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: just so he can call with his cousin because they
- 1:08:47Speaker 3: like to FaceTime now. She's in San Francisco. OK, so
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: but a cell phone. No, we're not doing that.
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: Yeah. OK, soon. Well, I don't think what you're doing
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: is bad. I think, you know, your kids better than anybody.
- 1:08:58Speaker 5: And I can't tell you what to do and what
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: not to do. do. I don't think it's going to,
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: I mean, it's definitely not going to hurt them.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: No.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: No, but they're going to grow up and find out, oh,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: mom and daddy really had money.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: No, and I think they might go, hey, I'm glad
- 1:09:09Speaker 5: that you did that because look, I mean.
- 1:09:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: And as the kids get older and they develop more
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: of their personalities and you see, you might adjust that
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: plan a little bit here and there, but. I mean,
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: I understand. Yeah.
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: No, I understand, too. And no one wants to be
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: a spoiled brat.
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: No, but I spoil my kid too much sometimes, and
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: I know I do.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: Same.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: I'm trying not to.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: I know I do sometimes, and I'm like, no.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: Because we have one.
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: I have one kid. He doesn't have to share.
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: I don't have to buy two.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I don't spoil mine.
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: No, you don't.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I tell them, get what you get. Don't pitch a fit.
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: That's what I tell them.
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: Okay. And then you hit them.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: No, I don't.
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: And then you make them go pick out their own Switch.
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:09:46Speaker 10: No.
- 1:09:47Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: Welcome to Pooh's Little House on the Prairie. Well, thank
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: you so much.
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: For your secret.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: I love that you called, and good luck with everything.
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: You sound like good parents, so do your thing.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: Thank you. The new Mix 102.9.
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: Oh, it is Mix 102.9. Ability Kid, Candice Lopez, Producer Pooh.
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: We're about to get out of here. We'll see you tomorrow,
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: bright and early. Another Dirty Little Secret at 7.30. So
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: many chances to win all day if you want these.
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: Usher and Chris Brown tickets. Candice, I'm a little bit
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: nervous because we're about to leave here soon. I'm going
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: to throw out the first pitch at the Rangers game. Today,
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: and I'm doing it opposite-handed, so Pooh and I, we're
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: going to have to be in the parking lot practicing
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: a little bit longer, if you don't mind, Pooh.
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: Yeah, did you bring another orange today?
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: No, I don't have an orange. What do I have?
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: I got a can of beans.
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: I got a can of beans. Oh, God. I keep
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: forgetting to bring a baseball. Do we have a baseball?
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: I know, and I have some at home. I just
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: keep forgetting, too.
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: Pooh, do we have a baseball or some in the.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Surely there's a baseball around.
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: I got to throw it opposite handed. I don't know
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: what I'm doing.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: There's a globe in there, a small globe.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: And then I found out that sometimes they do like
- 1:10:47Speaker 5: more than one first pitch. They do like a ceremonial
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: pitch and they'll do, you know, and then one of
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: my favorite comedians, I just learned that he's going to
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: be there too, throwing out a pitch with me or
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: a ceremonial pitch or Ralph Barbosa.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: Yeah, that's exciting.
- 1:10:59Speaker 5: Which he's from the OC. OC. Oak Cliff.
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: He's so funny.
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: He's hysterical. Now I'm going to be nervous in front
- 1:11:04Speaker 5: of him.
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: No.
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: I'm going to be nervous in front of everybody. The
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: player is going to be.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Maybe he's nervous in front of you.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: No, I think he's fine.
- 1:11:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:10Speaker 5: I had a dream last night that the players started
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: laughing at me.
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: No.
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: I had a dream that Nolan Ryan was there.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: Oh, God.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: And then he was like, man, you suck. I had
- 1:11:20Speaker 5: awful dreams. I stayed up all night.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: Nolan Ryan said, you can't even buy my steaks and nothing.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: He banned me from buying his beef. He was like, man,
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: after that first pitch, Billy, you can't eat my beef.
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: That's what he said.
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: It's going to be fine. We know your primary hand
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: that you used to throw is broken. Just do your best.
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: It'll be good.
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: Then I had a dream. They booed. They were like.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: started chanting Candace.
- 1:11:42Speaker 3: And then I just came in and threw a heater.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: I would actually love if that happened.
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: Hopefully we'll see you out there.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: If you're going to the game though, go Rangers. I'm
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: excited to do it. It's an honor actually. So we'll
- 1:11:55Speaker 5: let you know how it goes tomorrow. We'll see you then. Bye.
